Kind of want to combine my hyperfixations and redesign Stardew bachelorettes and bachelors in various eras of vintage fashion?
If I don’t end up drawing this, here’s my general vision so far just because (yes I am skipping the 30s and 40s because I don’t find them as visually interesting):
20s:
Penny. Her hair reminds me a lot of the pinned up faux bobs that flappers would wear and I think she would look AMAZING in a drop waist and cloche hat.
Krobus. His little trench coat get up gives me sort of 1920s Agatha Christie detective novel vibes.
50s:
Shane, because I think he would look dapper with a kind of Cary Grant and Marlon Brando hybrid inspired look? Like with sharp lines and but because he’s messy his sharp suit is ruffled after a long night.
Abigail. I know this isn’t the obvious choice, but due to my hatred™️ of Pierre and Caroline’s parenting style, Abigail’s story has always felt a bit like her breaking away from tradition, especially for gender wise. As such, I want to draw her in Beatnik style, with a black turtleneck, a beret, slacks, and huge dark glasses.
60s:
Harvey :). His fascination with planes means I absolutely have to draw him in the golden age of travel. I’m thinking a smart suit, kind of more early 1960s, inspired by the fashion in the original Bond films.
Haley. I would probably do a different part of 60s fashion to Harvey for her, more akin to the mid to late sixties Swinging London movement, as inspired by Twiggy and Mary Quant. Boxy mini dress, Gogo boots and a Bridget Bardot-esque bouffant.
70s:
Maru. The 70s were big for jumpsuits and women’s fashion got a lot more practical, which I think works well with her personality. I love Maru and I love flared jeans so 🫠 I also think I would give her big hair (I love her older game designs)
Leah. Leah’s hippie artist vibes work perfectly for the 70s flowery hippie fashion. Please put my girl in a loose fitting prairie dress or some bell sleeves. Her hair would also work with the long natural wavy look of that era.
80s:
Emily. I know her vibes are at a first glance 70s, but the style of her dress and her hair remind me SO MUCH of Winona Ryders wedding dress in beetlejuice? So the gothy fashion of the 80s with big spiky hair and mesh and craftiness remind me of Emily.
Elliot. Once again at a first glance 70s, but I will put this man in a late 70s/early 80s glam rock outfit if it kills me. With the massive hair and the sort of military inspired studded jacket and everything. Hear me out.
Alex: the 80s were probably the start of the jock character, and Alex to me reads like he could literally be a character in the breakfast club to be honest. He must be taken back to his roots.
90s:
Sam. In the 90s skater boy fashion was literally like… the thing, so this is obvious. Give him a baggy ahh flannel , a baggier ahh graphic tee and a baggiest ahh pair of jeans. And some fugly 90s man hair.
Sebastian. Not really a huge redesign, but I’m incapable of not drawing him as like a mall goth / early emo kid (yes I know they’re different but similar style roots).

Great - Quinn Hughes ft. Brady Tkachuk and Matthew Tkachuk
Tumblr media
A/N: I recently fell in love with Quinn Hughes and had to write for him, but I couldn’t leave my favorite boys out.
Summary: Y/N has been best friends with the Tkachuks for as long as she can remember. When Quinn Hughes surprises Brady in St. Louis, old feelings come tp the surface.
Word count: ~2.2k
It was going to be a typical offseason Saturday night spent watching movies and hanging out with her best friends Brady, Matthew, Taryn and Brady’s girlfriend Emma. At least that’s what Y/N thought.
They’d all been back in St. Louis for a few weeks now and Y/N had spent as many days as she could at the Tkachuk house. She was glad to be back for the summer and even happier to finally have another girl around. With her, Taryn and Emma, they finally outnumbered the boys, at least while her brother was away taking summer classes.
Y/N grew up with the Tkachuks. Her twin brother Alex used to play hockey with Brady and she and Taryn would always play games together in the stands during their games. Brady would come out to the stands after his game to watch his older brother Matthew play. But he always wound up playing with Y/N and Taryn more than watching Matthew. Alex would come out and play with them too.
It didn’t take long for Brady and Taryn to beg their parents to hang out with Y/N and Alex outside of the rink. Soon enough, the families were inseparable. Even though Matthew was older than all of the other kids, even he had fun hanging out and making fun of them constantly.
Even when the boys’ hockey careers took off and Y/N and Alex went away to college, they all remained close. They’d been best friends since those early mornings in the rink and they always would be even though Y/N really wanted to kill Brady and Matthew right now.
She showed up to the Tkachuk house and saw a bunch of cars parked outside it and music blasting. Y/N would usually never turn down a party, but this time, she wasn’t dressed for one because they hadn’t told her they were having one.
She sent a quick, “SOS” text to Taryn and hoped she was here and that she could help with her current leggings and hoodie situation.
Sure enough, Taryn was at her car in a few minutes.
“Hey, Y/N! What’s the matter?” Taryn asked.
“I thought we were having a movie night tonight?” Y/N asked.
Taryn laughed. “The boys are such idiots. They didn’t tell you they were throwing a party for Quinn?”
“Quinn Hughes? Brady’s old teammate?” Y/N asked.
“Yeah. He surprised them by coming into town today so the boys threw him a party. I think they just used any excuse they could find to throw a party, but I’m not going to complain. Did they seriously not tell you?” Taryn was confused Y/N didn’t already know all this.
“No, I guess they didn’t want me to come. Maybe I should just head home,” Y/N said, looking down at her feet.
“Hey, Y/N/N, that’s not true. They’re just idiots. Here’s idiot Number 2. Ask him yourself,” she said as Brady ran up to her car.
“Y/N! What are you doing? Come inside and party with us!” Brady shouted with a drink in his hand.
“I’m not dressed for a party because you failed to tell me about it,” Y/N said as she scrunched up her face at him.
“What are you talking about? Matthew said he would text you and tell you about the change of plans!” Brady yelled again.
“Trusting Matthew to remember to do anything was your first mistake, you idiot,” Taryn said as she slapped the back of his head.
“I’m sorry, Y/N/N. Please come inside and hang out with us. I want you to meet Quinn!” Brady shouted again.
“Okay, first of all, please stop shouting. You’re murdering my eardrum. Second, I met Quinn at your draft. Third, what part of I am dressed like a hobo do you not understand?!” Y/N said as she purposely hit her head on the steering wheel.
“You talked to him for like two seconds. I need my best friends to be best friends! I think you look fine, but have Taryn get you something to wear if it’s such a big deal!” Brady shouted again.
Y/N looked at Taryn helplessly. “Wow, the dumbass actually had a good idea for once,” she laughed as Brady sighed dramatically. “Come on, I’ll sneak you to my room and we can get you something to wear.”
“See you guys soon! I’ll tell Quinny you’re here, Y/N!” Brady yelled again.
“Great,” Y/N mumbled under her breath.
Taryn chuckled but didn’t say anything as they snuck around to the deserted side of the house, went up the stairs and found Taryn’s room. Y/N dramatically flopped onto Taryn’s bed face first.
Taryn laughed. “What’s the deal with you and Hughes? Don’t think I didn’t hear that comment you made earlier.”
Y/N flipped to her side so she was facing Taryn. “I used to have a crush on him…” Y/N whispered.
“What?? When? I thought you guys only met at the draft.” Taryn squealed excitedly, flopping on the bed next to her.
“We did, but when he and Brady lived together, Brady would facetime me after their games and tell me how they went but he would always fall asleep. When he fell asleep, Quinn would take the phone and we would talk,” Y/N exclaimed.
Taryn’s eyes looked like they were going to pop out of her head. “What would you talk about?”
“Lots of stuff. Hockey mostly. But I would tell him embarrassing stories about Brady as a kid. We talked about our dreams for the future and random stuff,” Y/N said. “I could never go visit then because I was so busy with school and work so we didn’t meet until the draft. It’s so weird. We never exchanged numbers or anything, we only talked over Facetime on Brady’s phone, but I liked him so much. And I couldn’t even find the courage to tell Brady because I thought he would be mad.”
“We have to find you a bomb outfit to impress him then,” Taryn smiled knowingly at Y/N as she got up and looked through her closet.
“We haven’t talked in years. And he was so busy at the draft that I only got a few seconds with him. He probably doesn’t even remember me,” Y/N sighed.
Taryn reached over and grabbed a pillow and hit Y/N in the head with it. “Don’t be as big of an idiot as my brothers. He definitely remembers you and you’re going to impress him in this,” Taryn said as she pulled out a blue body suit, black mini skirt and air force one’s from her closet. “Now hurry up and change so I can see how it looks.”
Y/N did as she was told. Luckily for her, she was short for her age so Taryn’s clothes still fit her. Once she was dressed, she silently thanked herself for putting on makeup today, took her hair down from its bun and stared at herself. Her hair was perfectly wavy and she looked good.
Taryn whistled. “Alright, now let’s go downstairs, lover girl.”
As Taryn led the way downstairs, Y/N found herself growing more and more nervous. She’d kept up with Quinn’s hockey career through the years so she knew he had matured since the last time she’d seen him, but what if he looked different than how she remembered him? Yeah, she was going to need a drink if she was going to see Quinn.
As soon as they arrived downstairs, Y/N made a beeline for the kitchen without even looking at anyone.
“Well well well, look who’s finally here.” Matthew chuckled. “Drink?”
Y/N rolled her eyes. “Yes please. It’s your fault I’m late. You didn’t tell me you guys were having a party.”
Matthew stopped pouring her drink and looked at her. “Brady said he was going to tell you.”
“Well, he didn’t and he just told me you said you were going to tell me,” Y/N sighed. “I’ll take that drink anytime.”
Matthew handed Y/N a drink. “I swear he said he was going to tell you. I should’ve double checked, though. I’m sorry. Forgive me?” he asked as he pouted at her.
“I guess. Thanks for the drink,” Y/N smiled as she turned to go find Taryn and Emma.
Emma spotted her from across the room, waived her over and hugged her. “Hey, Y/N! Taryn told me what happened. Sorry about the boys.”
Y/N looked back and forth between Emma and Taryn. “Do you guys know something you’re not telling me? Because Brady told me Matthew was going to tell me about the party, but Matthew just told me Brady said he was going to tell me. They’re acting weird.”
Before either girl could respond, Y/N heard a familiar voice behind her. “Who’s acting weird?”
Y/N turned around to see a more grown up version of the kid she used to share her dreams of the future with. He was smiling at her and she couldn’t help but smile back. Y/N turned quickly around to send Emma and Taryn looks of panic, but they had disappeared. She was all by herself on this one. Great.
Y/N turned back to Quinn. “Brady and Matthew as usual. Long time no see, Hughes.”
“Too long if you ask me. You look great, Y/N,” Quinn said. He smiled as he looked her up and down. Was he checking her out?
Y/N looked him up and down quickly. “You look great too,” she smiled back at him.
“You wanna get some air? It’s a little stuffy in here?” Quinn looked at her hopefully.
Y/N nodded and led him out to the front porch swing.
They sat down facing each other and let a comfortable silence fill the air, but Y/N couldn’t help herself.
“It’s weird isn’t it? Actually being around each other and not talking over Facetime?” she asked.
“Weird, but nice,” Quinn replied.
“Definitely nice,” Y/N agreed. She was glad they were sitting in the dark otherwise she’s sure he would have been able to see her blush. “I remember us talking about all of our hopes and dreams for the future and all you could talk about was how you wanted to make the NHL so badly. You really made your dream come true. I’m proud of you.”
Quinn laughed. “Thanks, Y/N. There was one dream of mine I didn’t tell you about, though.”
“You were holding out on me? What was your other dream?” Y/N asked.
“I always dreamed of being with you. I know we only met briefly, but I really felt like I knew you through those FaceTime calls. I had a huge crush on you,” he admitted.
It was Y/N’s turn to laugh. Before she could even reply, Quinn was talking again. “You’re so mean, I can’t believe you’re laughing at me. I just poured my heart out to you.”
Y/N reached over and put her hand on his leg to try to get him to calm down. “Quit being dramatic. I was actually laughing at myself because I had a huge crush on you too and I was convinced you didn’t even remember me.”
“How could I not remember you? You’re the only girl I’ve ever told all my dreams to,” Quinn said. He placed his hand on top of her hand.
“Well in my defense, I didn’t know that until just now. Let’s keep up the tradition, though. What are your dreams right now?” Y/N asked.
“That’s easy. You. To get to know you again, to be with you, to share a life with you,” Quinn spoke so softly he was almost whispering. “Your turn,” he said smiling at her.
Between the alcohol and the way he was looking at Y/N, her cheeks were on fire. “Well, my number one dream is to get to kiss the Stanley Cup one day, but you’re a really close second,” Y/N laughed and Quinn joined her. “But seriously, I really do want all of that with you too.”
“Well, when I win the Stanley Cup, I promise you can kiss it. In the meantime, kissing me will have to do,” Quinn joked.
“Wait, you know you’re the real prize, not the Stanley Cup, right? Because that was mostly a joke, I-“
But Quinn leaned in and kissed her before she could finish her rambling. They got so lost in each other that they didn’t notice right away when Brady came running out of the house and started shouting again.
“Y/N! Now are you happy I didn’t tell you about the party? When Quinn told me about your little Facetime dates, I thought you would be too nervous to come if I told you he was here so I left that out!” Brady shouted and grinned at Y/N, clearly proud of himself.
Y/N turned back to Quinn. “You wanted to be with me so badly that you asked for this weirdo’s help?”
They both laughed, while Brady put his hands on his hips and threw his hands up in the air. “Great, just what I need! You two to team up and make fun of me!”
Y/N and Quinn looked at each other and smiled. “Great!” they said together.

Hwang Yun Seong: I’ve considered it, we have been thinking among us and I also put a lot of thoughts on it personally. The CEO also asked me if there’s any names that I thought of, but it’s not easy. Even when we shared our ideas, only strange things came out and it wasn’t easy. But when the name DRIPPIN came out, I was very satisfied.
Kim Dong Yun: The name DRIPPIN is the name that our CEO gave us. Before it was decided, we thought about it among ourselves but coming up with a name is harder that we thought.

Summary: Kara's first time handing out candy in her new home brings an adorable kid in a Super-suit and his very attractive mother to Kara's door, and they find they might get even more than candy out of their Halloween nights
Full Text:
“Alex, this is important.”
Alex fixed Kara with a stern glare. “It’s Halloween candy that stores think they can charge more for than normal because all the sudden it’s in the shape of a pumpkin and wrapped in orange paper.”
“So you think I should go with the Reese’s pumpkins then?”
“Oh my god, where did you get that from what I just said?” But Kara was already crouching back down to the lower shelves to inspect all the offerings for a fifth time.
“Okay, so I think the Reese’s for sure. And a bag of Snickers.”
“Because they’re your favorite.”
“I’m sure other people like them too…” Still, Kara tossed an extra bag in her basket in case they liked them too much.
“But that means you need to get Twix for me.”
Kara crinkled her nose in disgust—no matter how much she liked candy, she didn’t get how Twix could ever make it to the level of a favorite—but dutifully grabbed a whole bag of them. “Not really worried about anyone else wanting them…”
“More for me, then.” With a little huff, Alex stuck her tongue out at Kara.
“Do you think I should get a non-chocolate alternative? What if someone’s allergic to chocolate? Or oh god, what if there’s a little vegan trick-or-treater?”
“Then they should already have a whole lifetime’s worth of disappointment built up. They’ll deal. Seriously, it’s not that big of a deal.”
“Alex,” Kara huffed, throwing a bag of Starbursts into her basket before standing up and crossing her arms over her chest. “It’s the first time I’m ever getting to hand out candy at my own place! It’s a huge deal!”
“I swear, sometimes I think you gave up the apartment just so that you could be get to live out some 1950s suburban fantasy.” Knocking her shoulder against Kara’s, Alex chuckled and shook her head.
“First of all, you know that Krypto wasn’t allowed in the apartment. Second, it’s a lot easier to, you know”—Kara’s gaze flickered around them, and she lowered her voice—“up, up, and away from my own house. And besides, we aren’t all content holing ourselves up alone in our apartments.”
“Oh shush, I go out sometimes.”
“Really? What are you doing tonight?”
“I’m working.”
“See!”
“Someone had to cover at the DEO!”
“That excuse only works when you didn’t volunteer.”
“Whatever. Vas and I are gonna have a great time. They’re even bringing in a laptop to stream scary movies all night.”
Kara shuddered. She’d never understood the appeal. Staying home and handing out candy to all the adorable little ones in costumes (and okay, yes, she was planning on giving the little Supergirls a few extra handfuls of candy) sounded better in every possible way.
With one last check of her costume in her bedroom mirror, Kara headed downstairs to make sure everything was ready for her trick-or-treaters. Front lights? On. Candy bowl? Filled. Krypto? Walked long enough to be tuckered out. With that, Kara carefully tucked her pink Glinda the Good Witch dress under her and settled into a comfy chair with a book while she waited.
Half an hour later, Kara decided maybe she’d gotten things ready a little too early.
After 45 minutes had passed, Kara started in on the mini Snickers bars.
But once she hit the hour mark, the first knock on the front door came, and Kara sprang up into action, straightening her crown and clutching her wand as she pulled open the door. “Well hello there! What do we have here?”
Surveying the group, Kara grinned at the cluster of Power Rangers—two greens clutching each other’s hands and a slightly taller red one standing behind them and urging them forward with a quiet, “Go on.”
“Trick-or-treat,” they managed in unison.
“What would you like today?” Kara held out her pumpkin, pointing out the different options. Eventually the two little ones both grabbed Reese’s pumpkins, and the older child took a Twix, thanking Kara for the group of them before jogging back down to the sidewalk to catch up.
It continued like that for most of the night, with small groups marching up her front steps. There was one lion who didn’t quite get the Wizard of Oz joke Kara made, though her dad laughed at it, and a few little Supergirls and Supermen, plus one teeny-tiny Batman that left Kara grinning for nearly ten full minutes as she imagined Bruce’s reaction to his diminutive mini-me.
Around 8:30, Kara began putting away her things, the procession of trick-or-treaters having dwindled as the last few stragglers made their way around the neighborhood.
After she’d called it a night and had headed back to the kitchen giving Krypto a snack for being so good with all the visitors, Kara caught the sound of footsteps coming up her front walk. She listened in and heard a woman’s voice explaining, “Now, Carter, these people might have already gone to bed or run out of candy. It’s getting pretty late now.”
“I know, I know,” came the response with a child’s huff. “But look at all the pumpkins! They’re so good.”
Kara beamed to herself, thinking about the afternoon she’d spent carefully carving intricate designs into about a dozen pumpkins that now decorated her front porch. Truthfully, she’d been a little disappointed that no one had said anything about them, and she decided that this kid—Carter—deserved extra candy for the compliments, even if he had no idea she could hear.
A definitive knocking sounded through the front of the house, and Kara hurried forward, grabbing her crown at the last minute before sweeping open the door. “Happy Halloween!” She grinned at the sight that met her: another Superman with a witch’s hand (complete with perfectly manicured green nails) resting on his shoulder. As Kara’s gaze traveled up the black lace of the witch’s dress, her breath caught in her throat as she realized just how beautiful the woman was, even with the costume makeup and silly, pointy hat. “Um, hi.”
“If you’ve already packed up for the night, we can go,” the woman sighed, and Kara realized she’d been quiet for longer than she intended to be.
“No! No, hold on, um, I’ve got candy here—one second.” She rushed into the living room and grabbed the bowl before racing back to the door. “Here you are.” Lowering herself down to her knees, Kara held out the bowl to Carter. “And you know what? Since I don’t think we’re going to get too many more visitors tonight, if your mom says it’s okay, I bet you could take a few extra pieces.”
Carter’s arm wound around his mom’s leg as he backed up a few steps, glancing up at her.
“I think that’d be just fine, so long as you don’t try to eat it all in one go.”
Carter nodded, blonde curls shaking with the movement.
“And maybe you should grab your mom a thing of M&Ms if she has them,” the woman added with a wink.
“Oh shoot! I knew I was forgetting something.” Kara frowned at her basket, cursing her lack of foresight.
The woman merely shrugged, but Kara was holding up a finger. “Wait, I think I have some in my kitchen! Give me just a minute, okay?” She didn’t wait for an answer before darting off, leaving the basket of candy with Carter.
A minute later she emerged, triumphantly clutching a bag of M&Ms she had picked up on a whim after stopping an armed robbery at a grocery store that past weekend. “Knew I had some!”
The woman narrowed her eyes before smiling, seemingly in spite of herself. “Are you always like this, or are you just getting in character?”
Tilting her head to the side, Kara furrowed her brow and asked, “What?”
“The whole Good Witch thing.” She traced a finger up and down through the air, gesturing from the tall crown down to the sparkly heels. “Going out of your way to be helpful, giving my son extra candy, finding M&Ms for me…”
“Oh, um, I don’t know. If I can be helpful, why wouldn’t I be? Besides,” Kara added with a shrug of her shoulders as she smiled down at Carter, lowering herself to the floor once more, “I love the costume.” As she looked closer, she narrowed her eyes. “You’ve got Supergirl’s crest!”
Carter nodded, clutching his mom’s hand but not backing away this time.
“He prefers our local hero, even if the skirt would have been a bit cold.”
“Good taste,” Kara grinned.
“Takes after his mother that way.” Kara cocked her head to the side. “It’d be a bit odd if I still held on to some old sentimental attachment to Superman when I have my own superhero right here in National City, selling papers even if she still won’t call me back about that interview.”
“Oh my god.” Kara’s jaw dropped as she looked back up at the woman in front of her. “You’re Cat Grant!”
“Very good, dear. Though I suppose tonight I’m meant to be your enemy.”
“What?” Kara’s voice cracked slightly, and she prayed she hadn’t done something stupid like leave out her suit or her cape, though maybe she could excuse it as another costume…
“The Wicked Witch…” Cat trailed off, looking at Kara as though she were a bit slow.
“Oh! Oh, yes, yes, of course.” Trying to diffuse the tension, Kara turned her attention back to Carter. “Luckily we’ve got our own Super here to stop any fighting.”
Carter nodded, puffing his chest out just a little as he put the hand not clutching his pumpkin-shaped basket on his hips.
For a moment, the small group stood together in silence before Cat made a small tsking noise with her tongue. “Come along, Carter, we should let the Good Witch get back to her evening. I’m sure she has plans.”
“I don’t!” Kara blurted out, her cheeks warming slightly as Cat’s full attention returned to her. And oh god, this was precisely why J’onn had warned her not to do the interview. But she couldn’t help it. She’d gotten to know about the planet through Cat’s journalism, and she’d admired her (and okay, fine, maybe had a little crush…or a gigantic crush, whatever) for years, and now Cat was standing in Kara’s doorway looking far more attractive than anyone with green nails and a fake mole should, and Kara wasn’t ready to see her leave. “I mean, sorry, you probably do. I was just, uh, I hadn’t eaten dinner yet, and I figured it probably wouldn’t be a great idea to finish this basket of candy and call it a meal.”
“Definitely not a good idea,” Cat concurred, nudging Carter to make sure he’d heard and understood.
“So it’s not like you’re bothering me or anything like that. That’s all.”
They stood in silence for another few interminably long moments before Carter’s small voice chimed in, wavering slightly before finding solid ground: “I like your pumpkins.”
“Yeah?”
Carter nodded enthusiastically, his gaze turning back to the cluster of them closest to the door.
“Thank you! If you want one, you can take it home with you. If your mom says you can, of course,” she hastily added.
Carter looked up at his mom, his eyes wide and imploring. “Well alright, but be sure to say thank you.” As Carter ran off to pick one out, Cat sighed. “If my staff saw me now, caving to puppy eyes without the slightest argument…”
“Maybe it’s your costume that’s the act then.” Kara shrugged, a playful smile tugging up the corners of her mouth.
“Excuse me?”
“I don’t know, I’m just saying, maybe you’re not really the Wicked Witch.”
“Or perhaps spending time with a Good Witch is a good influence.”
“Maybe you should spend more time with me and find out.” The words had slipped out before Kara quite processed them, and she slapped a hand over her mouth at the realization.
“Brazen,” Cat muttered under her breath.
“Sorry.”
“Don’t apologize.” Cat tilted her head to the side, looking Kara up and down. “I like it.”
“Got one!” Carter called out, hefting a pumpkin as big as his head up to show Cat.
“Very nice.” With a second glance, Cat refocused her attention on the pumpkin, taking in the details of the intricate carving. “This is actually…I never thought I’d call a pumpkin beautiful, but this one comes close.”
“Thanks,” Kara mumbled, rubbing her hand over the back of her neck. “I, uh, in my free time I do some art work. Painting, mainly, but some drawing, little bit of sculpting.”
“My, my, quite the Renaissance woman.”
“I don’t know. I mean, it’s just a hobby.”
A loud rumble from Kara’s stomach interrupted Cat’s retort.
“It seems we really are keeping you now, and besides, we need to be getting home to eat some food that isn’t candy too. Carter, say thank you.”
“Thank you,” Carter repeated, his voice a little louder than it had been earlier.
“You’re welcome,” Kara replied with a broad smile. As Cat turned away, Kara called out: “Cat!”
The woman spun slowly, an amused smile on her lips like she wasn’t used to being called after so informally. And, Kara supposed, she probably wasn’t.
“Yes?”
“I just, um, if you wanted to stay for dinner and dessert…I made a few pumpkin pies from all the carving, so I’ve got enough to share.”
“I think Carter’s a bit tired after a full night of knocking on doors.”
“Right, right,” Kara nodded, ducking her head down as she moved back inside.
“But I’ll be on my own for dinner this weekend, so why don’t you call my office tomorrow and ask me about Friday night?”
“Really?”
“Really, Glinda.”
Kara managed to wait until the door was shut before squealing and jumping up and down. It took a few more minutes before she could get her thoughts in order enough to pull out her phone and open her messages with Alex.
Kara: So…remember how you said I wanted that suburban fantasy life?
Alex: What’d you do??
Kara: Oh nothing...
Kara: I just have a date with a drop dead gorgeous single mom on Friday night
Alex: Look at you go!
Kara: Yeah…she’s so cool. And smart. And beautiful.
Kara: And her kid is adorable, Alex.
Alex: I trust you. You don’t have to sell me on it, really.
Kara: Great! Cause her name is Cat Grant. K bye!
Alex: Kara!
Alex: KARA DANVERS PICK UP YOUR PHONE RIGHT NOW!
Kara: You’re at work. We’ll talk later. Love youuuuu! <3

Roleplay Server Log #377
“Karla’s Anxiety, Hg's Dress, Trender Steps in, Time for Pirates and Suspicious Words”
[Splender] Teleports into Lie's backyard, having been shouted at by Trender for not checking on Pinwheel- Pinwheel!
[Pinwheel] Lifts her head with a slight irritated flick of her tail, she's grown again and is laying in the shade of Karla's house-
[Karla] Looks up from the book she's reading on the porch. - Someone is calling for you.
[Pinwheel] - It's Splendy
{Splender] - PIIIIIIINWHEEEEEEEL!
[Karla] Puts the book away - Are you hiding from him?
[Pinwheel] - He's gonna get huggy
[Karla] Well he did raise you. And he is more then a little fond of you. Despite the biting.
[Pinwheel] Huffs-
[Splender] Spots her and teleports right over, squealing over the fact that she's grown- YOU GOT BIGGER!
[Karla] She's a fine dragon. You should be proud.
[Splender] Goes for the hug-
[Pinwheel] Bites-
[Splender] Oh you're getting so big and pretty!
[Karla] I presume that's much less painful then it looks?
[Splender] - Oh!  I'm sorry, I'm being rude, I didn't even see you there.  No, it's not painful at all for me
[Karla] I'm Dr. Emmerich. Karla is fine though. And I presume from your rather impressive stature; you're one of the Slenders?
[Splender] - Yes!  I'm Splender!  The youngest!
[Karla] And I'm guessing the happiest? I met your brother Offender briefly as well. How's your mother adjusting? I heard she'd joined you.
[Splender] - Well!  Trender is currently watching her
[Pinwheel] - Splendy!  Let go!
[Splender] - Awwww, but you're so soft and fluffy
[Karla] Stands a bit closer - She might need a little air there?
[Splender] Finally lets go and Pinwheel scrambles up onto the roof-
[Karla] Chuckles - She can move quickly when the mood strikes her. I find her most pleasant company.
[Splender] - I'm glad, she needs more friends
[Karla] I think Ever is trying as well, but with less success.
[Splender] - I'm sorry, I don't believe I've met him
[Karla] Blonde fluffy hair? Cat ears and a tail currently?
[Splender] - I'm sorry, I've been busy trying to keep my mother happy so I don't think I've seen him, but I do appreciate you looking after Pinwheel
[Karla] Ah, you'll run into him eventually. He said he was going to the village a little while ago. And I've just been providing a bit of shelter in between her playing with Crim. They've become quite close.
[Splender] - I do need to head over there to feed soon, have you been?
[Karla] Shifts uncomfortably- no... I have not... I have had rather bad luck with small towns in the past. I don't want to upset anyone...
[Splender] - Then come with me!
[Karla] Waffling-
[Splender] Grabs Karla's wrist- Be good Pinwheel!- He then teleports them into the village
-There's a bit of commotion as they pop in but the people quickly relax and wave before going about their business.
[Karla] That was... unusual...
[Splender] - They're used to it- Children are now spotting him and gathering excitedly, wondering what sort of treats he has for them this time
[Karla] Is edging away from the kids uncomfortably-
[Pinapple] Are you new here? You don't look like a brine or an Alex?
[Karla] I'm not...
[Splender] - She's a doctor!  And she's been keeping an eye on Pinwheel for me- He's passing out some candy
[Pinapple] Another one? Are you going to work out of Doc's office?
[Coffi] What's your specialty?
[Karla] I wasn't planning on it.... And I'm a field medic...
[CN] Comes in through the gate, making the vanilla delivery for Lie-
[Creme] Spots him- Oh! It's the teeny NOTCH. Hello Cn.
[Karla] Is very unsettled and it's showing-
[Pinapple] Are you okay miss?
[Karla] Too fast nod-
[CN] - Hi!  Lie wanted me to bring in the vanilla since she can't leave the house according to the Big Meanie
[Splender] - Calm yourself Karla, you're in no danger, they're just curious
[Karla] Shoots him a look that's very slightly panicked.
[Coffi] Is a bit too close and she scoots away from him-
[Splender] Glances at the testificates sending a bit of happy energy to them to distract them a little-
[Creme] Breaks out in a blissful expression-
[Pinapple] Gets distracted by the playing children and smiles-
[Karla] -jimmies definetly rustled-
[CN] - Crème?  Where does Lie usually put the vanilla?
[Splender] Creates some small toys- Would you like a tour Karla?
[Creme] She usually gives it to Eggg since him and Basquet run the kids cafe. He portions it out so the other places with food get some too.
[CN] - Where are they?
[Creme] Stands on tiptoes and looks past the crowd of kids- Go through the gate and it's the building on the right.
[CN] - Okay- He starts making his way through the crowd
[Karla] Has backed up against a wall and is nervously watching everyone.
[Splender] Notices this and sends happy energy directly to Karla, hoping it will relax her a little-
[HG] -runs into the dessert kicking up sand as he goes-
[Mix] -Is out in a skirt, no shirt. She's just working on some building with a bit of shade.-
[HG] -sees mix and stops- hello mix
[Mix] Hey.. HG? Why you coming through the desert?
[Mix] -Wipes sweat-
[HG] Just wanted to see if I could water some cacti while I think
[Mix] Oh sure! There's a whole bunch over there! -Gestures at a collection of Cacti off to the side-
[HG] -waters them- so what are you doing?
[Mix] Been thinking of building some more so I figured I'd start!  -Gestures at the barebones design-  And I couldn't be bothered to actually get dressed so! Skirt
[HG] what are those full body flowy outfits gem wears one all the time but I don't know what it is called
[Mix] A dress?
[HG] is that right I don't know but I wanted to get one a soft pretty one with flowers
[Mix] I could make you one if you want? I have some left over fabric at home...
[HG] you can? Oh thank you mix - is clearly excited to get their own dress-
[Mix] I'll go get my stuff and come back, that way you can see it while I make it. I need a bit of a break anyway. -Starts off toward her house-
[HG] - is bouncing in place because he is super excited-
[Mix] -Is gone for a bit before returning with a handful of cloth and some tools.-
[HG] - watched mix work-
[Mix] -Soon has a rough dress made, it's got some flowers along the hem and is a soft green shade.- How's this look so far?
[HG] it's so pretty so far
[Mix] Any changes you want?
[HG] uh can you please make it have a very easy sleeve in the top part?
[Mix] Of course! Anything else?
[HG] could it also have a belt?
[Mix] Uhhh.. Sure! -Making the changes-
[HG] Your very good at this mix
[HG] I can't wait to wear It - HG is getting suepr excited again-
[Mix] I've had a lot of practice! -Is adding finishing touches before giving it to HG-
[HG] -holds the dress- it's so perfect thank you -back away from mix and kicks up a mini cloud of dust enough to switch into the dress with-
[Mix] -Puts things away- How's it feel?
[HG] I love it feels so soft and it fits perfectly thank you mix for helping
[Mix] No problem! Enjoy it! -Big smile-
[HG] -offers Mix one of the ice cream saplings because they would help keep her cool in the hot sun-
[Karla] Feels Splender's energy and tries to shake it off, she's not comfortable being influenced.
-As Karla becomes more uncomfortable she feels something else grab her and teleport her to a different part of the village, a quiet corner of the villages park-
[Trender] - Discomfort does not suit you
[Karla] Shudders- Who are you?
[Trender] - I am Trender, one of Splender's older brothers.
[Karla] Brushes herself off a bit- Thank you then. Too long avoiding people makes one immediately unhappy in a crowd.
[Trender] - So I could feel, but I assure you, my brother meant no harm in bringing you here.  He likes to make people happy, that is all
[Karla] I've noticed. He's much my opposite. I prefer making people delightfully uncomfortable.
[Trender] - You'd get along with Offender then, and possibly our eldest brother too
[Karla] Offender I've met. He seems rather charming in a dangerous way. I believe I've met your eldest brother too, though I was rather... we'll say in an excited and rather blood splattered mood.
[Trender] - It wouldn't have been with Herobrine, would it?
[Karla] Smiles in a rather predatory way - Yes indeed. He and I seem to be getting along decently well too. If only because he likes me being around to help care for his wife.
[Trender] - Is his wife ill?
[Karla] Quite the contrary, she's great with his child.
[Trender] Is silent for a moment- ...  I need a door
[Karla] Why?
[Trender] - To get to my workshop
[Karla] Ah, wanting to add to the pile of baby things? Their friends threw them quite a lavish shower with all the pastel trimmings.
[Trender] - Making outfits is most certainly a hobby of mine, but I suspect they only have baby clothing, they will need clothes for as it grows- He settles on one of the doors to the post office and focuses a bit of power on it.  It opens to reveal his workshop on the other side, the massive room stretching into the distance and a more recent work resting on a mannequin nearby
[Karla] Peers in, obviously interested. - Ah a fellow of the cloth. I like sewing as well. Though it's usually not so wholesome in form.
[Trender] - Nor is mine always, ah, Scarfy, did you need something?- There's a bit of movement in a shadow as Trender's proxy steps out and shakes his head.  He wears a mask which looks like a mime's face and a bright red scarf is wrapped around his neck
[Karla] How interesting.... I see your assistant is equally unusual.
[Trender] - He is my proxy, just as Ringleader is for Splender- He begins searching the shelves for just the right fabrics
[Karla] Follows him, she's obviously marvelling at his horde. - Any love for... leather? [She slips slightly as she speaks] It's one of mein favorites.
[Trender] - The section that is kept in is a few aisles that way- He motions with a tendril towards his right- I have at least a sample of everything I can possibly get, including some things from the game we are currently in
[Karla] Examines her hands - Not quite real, but closer in here. How strange. My... assistant is rather enamored with the enchanted cloths. Heh. My work is often done with real hide, feathers and sometimes bones.
[Trender] - Those I have by practically the mountain load if you ever need some
[Karla] I used to take commissions, but it seems pointless in a world where massive diamonds and pure gold is there for anyone willing to spend a few hours digging them up.
[Trender] - But that shouldn't stop you from doing it simply out of enjoyment, plus it would allow you to have money for out there
[Karla] Oh, I am doing it just for fun. Perhaps when I venture out again I'll put those works up for sale. If I tire of viewing them myself. It's nice to have so much free time. But I don't have easy access to travel back and forth. I'm not a creepypasta that can make portals.
[Trender] - You could always just have Herobrine scare them by dropping it off on their door step- He's sewing now and cutting fabric at the same time
[Karla] That's a delightful thought, but again, I don't want to put him out. It's difficult for anyone to entice him to leave Lie's side for even a moment. Even with her fluctuating mood.
[Trender] - Yes, that is one of the things about pasta's and their mates, the bond shared is nigh unbreakable, although it is possible
[Karla] It's fortunate. I suspect that their progeny will have a mix of their powers. I think it may take both of them and several helpful friends merely to babysit the child.
[Trender] - It should be entertaining- He folds several now finished articles of clothing up and puts them into a bag- We should be getting back to my brother, before he gets into a worried frenzy
[Karla] Gracefully gestures - Lead the way my good Slender.
[Trender] As he leads her out they pass the mannequin and a whimper escapes it as pleading eyes follow Karla's retreating form-
[Karla] Glances and wonders, but doesn't say anything.
[Trender] Holds the door for her- It was a pleasure spending some time with you
[Karla] Thank you. You as well.
[Yaunfen] Is running egarly with a book in one hand and Waffles trailing behind them-
[Lj] Sees them pass and follows curiously-
[Yaunfen] Spots Cn coming back from the village- Hey Cn!
[CN] - Oh, hey!
[Yaunfen] Are you busy? Would Lie care if we played for a while?
[Lj] Perks a little at the word play-
[CN] - I don't think she'd mind, I just finished delivering some vanilla for her...
[Yaunfen] Okay! I'll tell her so she doesn't get mad again- chats to Lie- can Cn play for a while?
[Waffles] Sniffs out LJ- mrrrrr [Lj] hi... - he's a bit uncomfortable
[Lie] - Sure, just be back before dark
[CN] - So what do you want to play?- He glances at LJ briefly
[Yaunfen] This! I've been reading a really cool book- he holds it out for Cn to look at the inside, there's an illustration of a pirate with a smoldering twists in his beard and a sword held high on the front of an old sailing ship-
[CN] - What is it?
[Yaunfen] Pirates! They were really interesting. And they had the first dem-o-cracy! But they used to sail in big ships and steal stuff from navy ships-
[Lj] ...
[CN] - There's some big ships in the water!
[Yaunfen] Yeah! And I have a boat so we can get there.
[Waffles] Looks annoyed at the prospect of water.
[Lj] Is trying to restrain himself from asking because of how small Cn looks -
[Yaunfen] Lj? Do you want to play too?
[Lj] Maybe...
[Yaunfen] It's okay! Cn isn't a little kid. He's just a really short NOTCH!
[Lj] Looks skeptical-
[CN] - Yeah! I've been around for awhile!
[Yaunfen] He's a midget.
[Lj] Still skeptical but willing to suspend disbelief. His words are barely a whisper- Issac used to like to play pirates... When he was so young....
[CN] - You know how to play pirates?
[Lj] Absolutely!
[Yster] Is lounging and exhausted. - you're true to your words... That was amazing...
[Locklear] - Well, I have had plenty of time to practice the craft
[Yster] Curls against him, tangling her fingers in his hair - Happy we came?
[Locklear] - I don't know, perhaps a bit more convincing needs to happen- He teases her gently
-Slowly the two of them become aware of the sound of children playing on the deck above, and an adult voice with a slight accent singing -
"Farewell and adieu to ye young maids of Valen
Oderin and Presque, Fox Hole and Bruley
I'm bound for the westward to the wall with the hole in
I can't marry all or it's yokey I'll be
We'll rant and we'll roar like true Newfoundlanders
We'll rant and we'll roar on deck and below
Until we strikes bottom inside the two sunkers
When straight through the channel to Toslow we'll go!"
[Locklear] Groans- I know that voice...
[Yster] Whoever he is, he's got a pretty good singing voice-
-There's the sound of two younger voices belting out the chrous with most of the words correct and giggling-
[Locklear] - That would be Laughing Jack and some children
[Yster] Then I guess I should put my gown back on, for the sake of modesty.
[Locklear] - Yes we wouldn't want to ruin the children's innocence
[Yster] That sounds slightly sarcastic. Would we be inturrupting something that should be inturupted?
[Locklear] - Laughing is a child murderer
[Yster] Dresses quickly- Then we should- we should- Just to be safe, check on them!
[Locklear] - Precisely- He pulls his own clothing on as well.  As he pulls on his coat he heads up the stairs
[Lj] Is wearing a small paper hat and waving a stick around in lieu of a sword, he freezes at the sight of Locklear.
[Yster] Yaunfen? Does Doc know you're here?
[Yaunfen] Pulls up a bandana that was covering one eye - Yster? Um... Mama knows where I am. She kinda knows where everyone is.
[Locklear] - Laughing, what are you doing?
[CN] - Lie knows that I'm here!
[Yster] [Didn't see Cn right away] And she said it was okay?
[Lj] Deflates a little- Just playing...
[CN] - So long as we came home before dark
[Locklear] - With children Laughing?
[Yaunfen] Yeah, I don't want to get him in trouble again.
[Lj] Small voice - They're not exactly children....
[Locklear] - They most certainly look like children to me, plus they still seem young enough to enjoy partaking in make believe
[Yaunfen] Mada says you're never too old to imagine stuff. It helps you be more creative. And Cn is a NOTCH. He's super important in guarding our friend Lie.
[Lj] And this one's a dragon...
[Locklear] - Yes, but I also know your penchant for adding to your circus
[Lj] The circus is empty now...
[Yaunfen] Oh, you mean his house?
[Locklear] - Is that so?
[Lj] Some of them are in town, most of them are gone forever.
[CN] - Yeah, there's lots of kids in the town!
[Yaunfen] Very proud- Mada fixed them.
[Lj] Ashamed and guilty- It's true.
[Locklear] - I doubt that
[Yaunfen] But it's true!
[Yster] Actually this sounds familar. I wasn't there for it obviously. But something about a bunch of zombie children being healed.
[Lj] Shrinks in shame.
[Yaunfen] I wasn't hatched yet, but mama said that mada made everyone who was there help. You can fix zombies here.
[CN] - I hadn't been let onto the server yet...
[Locklear] - Yet I doubt that's made you stop using your...  Special, candies
[Lj] But I haven't! And I especially wouldn't hurt these two. I mean, I knocked out Steffan once because he was panicking, but I didn't hurt him!
[Yaunfen] Mada said that Lj had a withdraw and he's okay now. Besides. Mama would catch me.
[Locklear] - I still don't trust this
[Lj] It's okay Locklear, she doesn't talk to me anymore. Issac... he's gone too.
[Locklear] - Well yes, Isaac has been dead for a very long time now
[Yaunfen] Hushed whisper- I heard he went to a bad place...
[CN] - Like the Nether?
[Yaunfen] Maybe!
[Lj] He's just gone. I watched Death himself banish him.
This message has been removed.
[Lj] No.
[CN] - But deaths not permanent here?  Or did you go somewhere else?
[Lj] We went outside Cn, irl. And Death has a face, and wings, and a daughter.
[Yaunfen] Oooooh! You met Dawn's dad?
[Yster] I was there. He's quite impressive.
[Locklear] - You were there?
[Yster] It was uh.... when Doc grabbed me... they took me along because I was already here and well... how often does one get the opportunity to rub elbows with the Death angel?
[Locklear] Just sighs and rubs his face a little before turning back towards the children- We should be getting these two back to land
[Yaunfen] Awww....
[Waffles] Scratching on the side of the wheelhouse-
[CN] - Why?
[Locklear] - Because I don't trust the clown being out here with the two of you alone
[Lj] I deserve that.
[Yaunfen] But he's okay. He doesn't have the crazy anymore.
[Yster] Suddenly gets in between them- crazy....! Shit! Don't touch him Locklear!
[Yaunfen] Wide eyes and backs away from Locklear a bit- Is he still infected?
[Locklear] - Touching him?
[Yster] He's one of Doc's carriers!
[Lj] Yes...  Not only is my Insanity gone, I can drive her out of others as well. It's why I stayed away from the manor.
[Locklear] - How interesting, and I assume that might be why your colors have returned?
[Lj] Nods-
[Yaunfen] Stands close to Lj- Are you okay Yster? You can't trust him if he still has Insanity, she's a mean lady and she hates mada!
[Locklear] - I would never harm my mate
[Lj] I thought she was scared of you anyway? I heard she ran away from you, what, twice?
[Yster] Well.... he's kinda grown on me....
[Locklear] Scowls and his hands tighten into fists-
[Lj] Smiles faintly- better not touch me Locklear. I see that look in your eyes.
[Yaunfen] Please don't fight.
[Locklear] - You absolute prat!  Perhaps you should have been burned in that box of yours!  At least I focus on saving children, can you say the same?
[Lj] I'm getting better. I haven't killed anyone since I came here.
[Yaunfen] He can't be all bad. Waffles likes him!
[Locklear] - Judging by how they look I'n going to guess that's because of diet
[Yaunfen] It's the same stuff I eat too.
[Locklear] - Still, you shouldn't trust the clown
[Lj] I fully expect to that I'll have to earn what trust I'm given. But Yaunfen knows at least second-hand how far I've come. And as aggravating as Doc can be occasionally... they have helped me.
[Locklear] - That doesn't erase what I know you're capable of
[Lj] It was fun because Issac thought it was fun, with him gone I feel... differently. It's nice to be around people.
[Yster] I'm glad the going gave you some closure.
[Locklear] - And just how certain can you be that a taste of blood won't return you to how you were?  I've seen it happen before
[Lj] I can't be certain of anything. I've been... oddly empty. But lighter to be sure.
[Locklear] - Then maybe you should go and find something other than children to fill that empty space
[Lj] Actually I've been doing some gardening.
[Yaunfen] He's pretty good at it!
[Yster] Let me guess, is it stuff from your seed?
[Yaunfen] Yep!
[CN] - His seed is fun!
[Locklear] - That is not what I'm concerned about
[Yaunfen] You worry like Cp.
[Yster] Little snort- Considering how he's been all over Lie worrying, that's kind of a compliment.
[Locklear] - Well she is his mate and pregnant
[Lj] Yeah, I know, he warned me away in no uncertain terms and I have abided by that. I don't care to be set on fire. Even if I know it won't kill me.
[Locklear] - He does enjoy his fire
[Yaunfen] Looks up - Awww... it's getting late. We should head back.
[Locklear] - Yes, you should
[CN] - Lie probably needs help with her animals too...
[Yaunfen] Oh! Cn! I know what would be fun! - they turn to Lj quickly- Can you take Waffles so they don't get wet?
[Lj] Nods with a small smile. - I'll get your kitty to shore.
[Yaunfen] Thanks- They climb up on the railing and reach back for Cn-
[CN] - What is it?- Takes their hand
[Yaunfen] Big smile and they just fall off the rail with Cn-
[Yster] Runs to the rail in a panic-  Yaunfen!
[Yaunfen] Twists artfully and shifts as they hit the water, Cn plopping down between their horns as they paddle for the shore. - Bye Locklear, Yster!
[Locklear] Sighs- Children
[Lj] They learned that one from Doc.
[Locklear] - We should be heading back towards shore ourselves- He watches the retreating forms as they go through the water
[CN] Shrieks in delight-
[Lj] Heads for the sabertooth which is rolling contentedly on the deck- Come on Waffles-
[Locklear] - Stay away from the children Laughing
[Lj] Just gives him a cold look- You're not in charge of me Locklear. Not you or Issac or Insanity. I'm my own person now.
[Locklear] - We'll see, after all, you and I have always been at odds
[Lj] Yes, we shall. I've been welcomed here, and I don't intend to make anyone sorry for doing so intentionally. - Picks up the cat with his arms wrapped around them twice.
[Waffles] ???????
[Locklear] Scoffs and turns away-
[Lj] And we'll see how long it takes you to emotionally scar your 'mate' with Insanity still inside you.
[Yster] Her mouth is a hard line, but she can't deny his words. She was scared to see him murder up close.
[Locklear] Draws Yster closer to himself as he watches LJ leave-
[Yster] Do you... do you really have it under control Locklear?
[Locklear] - I believe I do
[Yster] I hope you're right

Into The Future/Afterlife Freestyle Creative Fiction Series episode 8-Start of Creative Fiction Career Stories by Stella Carrier
Into The Future/Afterlife Freestyle Creative Fiction Series episode 8-Start of Creative Fiction Career Stories by Stella Carrier Into The Future/Afterlife Freestyle Creative Fiction Series episode 8-Start of Creative Fiction Career Stories by Stella Carrier start time after gathering resources; 8:29 p.m. completion time 857pm intent of freestyle fiction story; purpose intent of mini creative fiction freestyle story; draw from the inspiration of my food service work connected with the University of Maryland College Park and combine it for fun creative fiction style writing with multiple other online and offline interests both for creative writing therapy and writing skills improvement while simultaneously setting my intent to channel the wisdom, creativity, and healing of multiple heaven worlds of divine love and divine happiness https://www.fantasynamegenerators.com/english_names.php It is the year 2140 and I Corey Cooke am getting ready to cook some food for a music video being filmed near a creative music college in Hollywood California. My work takes me across various parts of Europe as well as the United States. I Corey Cooke work out of my own kitchen in California and Scotland where a great deal of my work is located. In Scotland a Nickelodeon Hotel and an 3 mile city of over 200 various museums opened just in this 3 mile section to open which increased the need for cooks in training, cooks, and chef. These businesses brought so much business to the point that Virginia, Maryland, California, Florida, and Nevada were inspired to open museum businesses and tv channel themed hotels andor houses of their own that can house at least 30 people to each house. I am told that I closely resemble the male director who starred in the music video for the Boombox song by Laura Marano and my older sister eerily resembles the daughter of the director in that song. I Corey Cooke happen to be 45 years old and my older sister that I just referenced is named Abbie Duncan and is around 50 years old. I Corey Cooke have actually been working as a cook since my 39th birthday for the military part time and at a university in Southern California  part of the time. I shimmied my way into working as a cook when I volunteered to help prepare food for a play that was based on season 1 episode 11 of NCIS Los Angeles. more details to come up within 48-70-72 hours or less from 9:23 pm Sunday August 5, 2018 future higher self communications in relations to Corey Cooke andor how any of his sleeptime dreams have played a significant role in his life andor those around him, and more songs for me to keep in mind; Point of No Return by Expose This fascinating article starts off with a featured hotel in Scotland. https://robbreport.com/travel/destinations/slideshow/8-most-over-top-new-luxury-suites-europe/ The 8 Most Luxurious New Suites in Europe by Sandra Ramani on July 17, 2018 https://robbreport.com/travel/destinations/slideshow/8-most-over-top-new-luxury-suites-europe/ https://www.roccofortehotels.com/hotels-and-resorts/the-balmoral-hotel/ creative fiction storytelling idea from this Robb Report magazine particle; men and women from around the world gathered at a conference in one of the cities featured in this article that showcases various hotels around the world. As a mixed race American born woman with American born family members of both Caucasian and African American descent I am intuitively and logically aware that I must aim to only comment online in politics when I am intuitively and logically certain that I can comment both wisely and bias-free even when I communicate a sentiment viewpoint far from popular in a courageous, brave and self confident manner. Today is one of the days where my creative intuition says to take a day off from commenting on yahoo politics and look at other sources instead. However for those who are curious my most recent yahoo online political comments are from Saturday August 4, 2018.However, the following are some of the resources I have fortunately unearthed, including the banana cream recipe link from the cookie rookie that inspired the search. This banana cream pie recipe looks delish. https://www.thecookierookie.com/banana-cream-pie-recipe/?utm_medium=push_notification&utm_source=rss&utm_campaign=rss_pushcrew&notification_source=pushcrew_rss Easy Banana Cream Pie by Becky Hardin https://www.thecookierookie.com/banana-cream-pie-recipe/?utm_medium=push_notification&utm_source=rss&utm_campaign=rss_pushcrew&notification_source=pushcrew_rss Becky Hardin's Banana Cream Pie recipe indirectly influenced my yahoo search which culminated in the following I like that this yahoo article has a mix of different pies; strawberry pie, blueberry pie, coconut cream pie, mixed berry pie, banana cream pie, sweet potato pie etc. https://www.yahoo.com/news/16-most-popular-pies-ranked-140622079.html 25 Most Popular Pies Ranked by Eat This Not That December 5, 2015 https://www.yahoo.com/news/16-most-popular-pies-ranked-140622079.html intuitive fiction storytelling idea; pie baking contest held inside the food court area of Pentagon city mall in the year 2090 https://scs.georgetown.edu/academics/professional-masters-degrees/ Investment Banking Institute https://www.ibtraining.com/ There are a multiple number of talented actors/actresses in this Avengers Infinity War film;Robert Downey Jr. Chris Hemsworth Chris Evans Mark Ruffalo, Scarlett Johansson and more gifted actors/actresses featured in Avengers Infinity War. I also like that Josuweit acknowledges that it is far from realistic to expect most men and women with student loans to repay back their student loans in just a few years minus taking into the account the demographic and socio-economic background of said student loan holder. It is common knowledge that many people are going to possibly need at least 10 to 15 years andor more to completely pay them back. I intend to check out Andrew Josuweit's student loan hero website for my own ideas and inspiration for successfully repaying the student loans for both myself and my husband's on a consistent basis (my target goal is to completely repay both of our student loans by the year 2030 andor sooner).  Many people say to avoid comparing your own career and money success to others because each person's situation is unique based on their background, their career, said job security of chosen career, where they live etc. I am intuitively aware that this same principle of avoid comparing yourself to another person's success story applies with student loan success stories and I am glad that Andew Josuweit is brave/courageous/self confident enough to imply that a person trying to compare their student loan journey with his does not have to unless they feel comfortable in doing so. https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ceo-paid-off-100-000-172358311.html A CEO Who Paid Off $100,000 In His Own Student Loans Used To Think They Were Predatory-but After 6 Years of Helping People Pay Theirs, He's Changed His Mind by Mark Abadi Business Insider July 30, 2018 https://finance.yahoo.com/news/ceo-paid-off-100-000-172358311.html creative fiction storytelling idea; profile of 15 student loan repayment success stories of men and women from various racial and socio-economic backgrounds who repaid their student loans within 20 years andor less after committing to their chosen place of residence to reside for the rest of their current lifetimes regardless if others may have been wondering if they were aiming too high/dreaming too big. Congrats to Riley Gordon on her weight loss and her new 147 pound body. I hope the best for her in sustaining that weight loss and continued success in her weight loss goals and other types of goals. I reluctantly admit that the last time I remember being around 147 pounds was when I was 26 years old in the autumn of 2006, unexpectedly coming across this article makes me think that maybe both my logic and creative intuition are trying to tell me something. quickie Mini story start time 826 pm quickie mini story conclusion time 949pm important note; I Stella Carrier do believe in the helpfulness of career and personal mentors regardless of psychic ability which is why I enjoy the theme of incorporating mentors into my creative fiction stories. However, for practical reasons I intend to consult in career andor personal mentors with intuitive abilities After  sometime around January to May 2019 andor later. part 3 within 48 to  57  to 70 to 74 hours andor less purpose of this fiction story; Fortunately I feel as a surge of creativity within me is surging and I want to encourage it for this creative fiction writing. Additionally, I have a creative idea to combine my creative fiction hobby with the meld of sleeptime dreams and future higher self communication through the creative fiction storytelling portal using one of the creative fiction characters starting with the happy transition of using a character connected to Corey Cooke. Corey Cooke here on my way to speak with a career counselor who also happens to be a practicing psychic on the side who helps me with my career goals in being a cook. The career counselor's name is Allany and she also helps me analyze my sleeptime dreams and has spiritual meetups weekly involving future higher self communications and helping many men and women connect to their celestial spirit guides. I Corey Cooke am communicating with you today because my sister Abbie Duncan had a strange dream that a female spirit she knew in her waking life (let's just call her Belenne) found a way into her sleeptime dreams for the purpose of understanding her actions before planning her reactions. What was the sleeptime dream; Abbie Duncan saw Belenne in a law classroom next door to some witchcraft museum that looks like the museum of witchcraft in England and Abbie Duncan knew that this did not apply to her because Abbie Duncan has zero interest in becoming a lawyer or studying law. However, it was only after Belenne use some of her intuitive and magician talents to hack her way into Abbie Duncan's sleeptime dreams did my sister Abbie Duncan realize that Belenne has an interest in law which surprised my sister Abbie because Abbie logically thought that Belenne wanted to stay a leader of the Burrito/Sandwich  hybrid food truck that is connected to 20 other food trucks that hire over 100 people. Because of Belenne hacking into Abbie Duncan's sleeptime dream my sister Abbie Duncan saw a vision of Belenne on a romantic date with a male named Gayel at a concert similar to a hybrid of Tomorrowland and iheartradio only seconds later after seeing Belene in a law classroom. My sister Abbie Duncan admitted to me she begged her subconscious to wake her up when she saw a graphic scene seared in her mind of Belene straddling Gayel on some public toilet in an intimate act. My sister Abbie Duncan is far from a prude and highly regards bothy Belene and Gayel professionally speaking and still has yet to understand why she would have a sleeptime dream of Belene and Gayel in this plot fashion. This is because I Corey Cooke have to avoid mentioning more details on Gayel to for karmic reasons. Anyhow, less than 2 to 3 seconds of my sister seeing that graphic scene she felt some benevolent force grant her wish and plucked her inside a hybrid witchcraft/sleeptime dream museum that one of her spirit guides in the dream told her is slated to open on earth in a location bordering Maryland Virginia somewhere between the years 2350 to 2355. The same spirit guide that told my sister to just call him  explained that he understand's how she is feeling because my sister Abbie Duncan knows in waking life that Gayel is very much passionately in love with Marina but is torn between his feelings with knowing that feeling how Belene loves him alot andor as a singer put in her song where she is telling her lover that she is going to love him the most. However, my sister Abbie Duncan explained that this sleeptime dream where she saw Belene use her magician spellwork to get inside her sleeptime dreams was meant to symbolize to her that she has some unfinished business with a male connected to law sometime within the next 5 years or less and that she is correct to avoid listening to other people's stereotypes of what she ought to study and that studying law is Belene's dream, not Abbie Duncan's. Truth be told Abbie Duncan wants to study in something that many people would far from expect her too but as her brother have been asked to avoid revealing that and to instead communicate that Belene coming into her sleeptime dream was more to symbolize that she is just as capable as eventually becoming a leader as Belene and is just as powerful magic wise thought this may take her around 5 years or less to finally come into her own. What this lesson has to do with Abbie Duncan and everyone else; Before Abbie Duncan woke from the sleeptime dream, Belene told her inside the witchcraft museum I know Abbie Duncan that part of your undercover identity is that of some celestial cupid and I blame you for helping Marina enchant my man Gayel. My sister was shocked by Belene exclaiming this because Marina is actually beautiful on her own and actually attracted Gayel through her own intellectual prowess and beauty as she is a natural seductress. Before Abbie Duncan could explain what was going on to Belene she was transported to a library  that had a book titled recording how much you make and save to greater good luck and good fortune. Right as Abbie Duncan was about to go near that book a vision of Marina come up to her and said look up at the sky open your eyes  and right then Abbie Duncan saw a vision of me her brother holding a gold and peach book titled cookbook with the words future higher self right her and sleeptime museum. Seconds later Abbie Duncan asked Marina a question but she disappeared by then and simply heard this male voice upon waking up; I miss you Abbie my soul is calling to you as a kindred soul from knowing you both in past lives and in heaven, please have compassion for Belene using you as a vessel for trying to understand why Gayel is drawing more in love with Marina.  Marina is similar to one of his female soulmates he knows from a past lifetime yet he is going to meet for the first time within 5 to 6 years or less from now. This female soulmate of his is currently 53 years old and has been employed in military law since her 30s and you are to be the indirect conduit of them meeting yet you are only going to know how you did this about 1 to 11 years after this occurs as you too have yet to meet her, just please heal both the karma between you and Belene by creating fiction characters at least 3 times a week processing their sleeptime dreams through a witchcraft museum/sleeptime dreams museum at least once a week and any location you want at least 2 other times a week just make sure that these creative fiction sessions are being mentored analyzed by either that creative fiction character's future higher self andor celestial spirit ally team member such as a guardian angel, spirit guide etc. This suggestion may sound out of the ballpark field for you but please do this as this is going to build your imagination and that of your readers in connecting to your intuition which creates a channel of love between both your critics and allies regardless of the type of magic they practice andor spiritual beliefs. This also opens the direct spiritual doorway for your spirit guides Abbie Duncan and Belene's spirit guides to collaborate and hold meetings together for happier/more beneficial harmony and a win win for everyone involved. Midwest Furfest 2017 - Convention Report
(First, yes, I haven’t posted anything on here in months. I apologize. I figured it would be better to put my convention reports on Tumblr, as it can better handle large text posts. Second, this’ll be a big one. Third, I will probably end up re-posting older con journals on here, because it’ll probably get more face time than FurAffinity.)
It always seems like a lot of crap happens at MFF. Like, most cons are fairly busy and eventful, but MFF in particular always seems to be jam-packed. Not all of it is good, but most is. MFF is now very close to being my favorite con (though it's hard to upset Anthrocon and Fur Squared). Let's talk about why.
Thursday
I left a little early from work that day. I got everything squared away, my car was packed, my tank was full, and my tires were new. I put the pedal down and drove east. It was probably one of the smoothest drives to a fur con I've had in a while. There was only one small hiccup: apparently my roommates weren't able to get the credit card situation figured out initially. Apparently it's not a good idea to put down a debit card when the hotel asks for a credit card hold. But we got it sorted and it was fine.
Got to the hotel at around 9:30PM (after the usual 5 hour drive), unpacked, and made my way over to registration. Along the way, I ran into a gentleman with... wheels on his shoes. They weren't heelies or rollerskates, but they had wheels strapped to the heels. I saw him trip and fall, so when he got back up and we got to the crosswalk, I asked him if he was okay. We got to talking, and apparently he is from Pennsylvania (my home state), knew of my home town when I mentioned it, and recognized the name of the college I went to. Friggin small world, am I right?
Anyway, we talked for a little bit as we walked into the Rosemont Convention Center (which is where MFF apparently had the dealer's room and art show) and then parted ways. I followed the crowd of people through the sky bridge over to the Hyatt. It was... a longer walk than I expected (I later clocked it: 6 minutes from dealer's room to Hyatt). I thought I would probably have gotten to the Hyatt faster if I had walked outside. And it was oddly warm at points. But I did eventually get to the Hyatt, and went down to Registration.
The line was wrapping around the con space. Or at least, the onsite reg line was. Thankfully, I had preregistered (pro tip: ALWAYS preregister), so I went to the much shorter (though still somewhat long) line for prereg. It took about 15-20 minutes for me to get through it. They had a full 10 stations processing attendees. It was actually rather impressive. All while I waited, I just reveled in the fact that "I'm home. I'm with my people."
That's what's special about the furry fandom. It is a climate of radical acceptance and love, beyond pretty much anything I have experienced. Every time I come to a convention, it feels like I belong there, like I can be myself without anyone batting an eye at me. It has become all the more meaningful now that I've started to develop a network of friends in the fandom. So, it was nice to be back.
After I got my badge (which read "Shallie"; I've started feeling more comfortable referring to myself that way, rather than the more masculine-sounding "Shal"), I walked around the conspace a little, taking in the sites and sounds. It was nice to see fursuiters again. I hadn't been to a large convention since Anthrocon, so I was really excited to be there. I then met up with one of my roommates, Jake (whom the attentive reader will recognize as a roommate from my past 2 Anthrocon's). This was his first MFF, so he was pretty stoked to be there. We exchanged pleasantries, took a brief look around, and sought out our third roommate, Arylena (I had to give her a room key). We found her and chatted briefly with her and her friend, and then me and Jake started making our way back to the Crowne Plaza to rest (both of us had had long travel days, as he had flown in from Atlanta).
Upon arrival, I discovered that I misplaced my room key, so I went up to the front desk to get a new one. Which was very lucky, as I ended up getting one of the special MFF room keys (there were 4 different ones), which had an awesome picture of a nine-tailed fox on it. We went up to the room, where we met up with our 4th roommate, DarknessWolf89 (hereafter referred to as Dark). Again, pleasantries, chatted for a bit, started making plans for the con. I briefly looked over my schedule, and was delighted to see that my first event (opening ceremonies) was not until 11AM the next morning, which gave me some time to sleep in.
Also, we had a TON of food. I brought Clif bars, crackers, jerky, and chips. Dark had also brought jerky, as well as oreos and Chex mix. We were going to be set for the weekend. =)
Friday
My sleep was less than ideal. Adjusting to a new bed is never easy, especially when your pillow is an unusual consistency. Also Dark liked to move around a lot in his sleep, and he ended up waking up early to pick up his fursuit from his maker (who was loaning the suit out to him for the weekend while he paid it off). So I started the day off a bit groggy and stiff. But we had time, so we took it easy and made our way down to opening ceremonies.
Two things of note here. First, I ran into my friend Hemlock Fox! It was great to see him again, and we got to chat for a bit, along with his friend Sorcererdale. Second, the reg line. It was MASSIVE. It stretched all the way from the Rosemont Ballroom to the Grand Hall (for reference, that is like a quarter mile or something). We were FLOORED by the number of people lining up. They had to shift over the line for opening ceremonies just to make room for the reg line.
Anyway, the doors opened, we went in, and opening ceremonies kicked off the con. The charity of the year was CRISP (a local non-profit that took in animals that people couldn't afford to keep). The Chairman, Kodi, kept the discussion lively and interesting as he explained some of the new stuff happening this year. Lots more places to eat in the vicinity (more than last year, which was good because MFF has historically had very few places to eat within walking distance), and a lot more reason to go over to the Convention Center. I foresee that as the convention continues to grow, actual panels will start to be held there. Finally, the guests of honor were Latinvixen (the lady behind MixedCandy fursuits), Remy Wolf (a very talented artist, who produced a lot of the art for the con), and Russ Adams (who produced costumes and special effects for movies, especially those featuring "creatures" as he liked to put it).
After the opening, Jake and I stuck around for the Meet The Guests Of Honor panel. It was fairly simple, just "how did you get into furry", work-specific questions, and things like that. It was actually pretty cool to hear the various stories from our guests. Latinvixen is apparently called such because she is from Latin America (I want to say Ecuador, but I am probably very wrong). Remy is also a fursuiter. And Russ brought along a werewolf head that he created for a movie, which he was going to use for a later panel. It was nice, and it gave me an appreciation for our guests a bit more. I generally recommend "meet the GOH" panels at cons, because the people are different every year, and there's always something cool to learn.
After that, Jake and I went over to the... eat-a-teria? Expositeria? The food place across the street from the Hyatt, attached to the Convention Center. They had some pretty good options: various tacos, chili, soup, burgers, hotdogs, chicken tenders, etc. We ate our fill, and were pleased (though I gotta say, the food was rather expensive). We had a good discussion about fursuit making (Jake is actually looking to get into making suits himself, which is fantastic and I hope he does it). Then it was time for my next event, so Jake and I parted ways.
The Furrhythmics Live! For those who don't know, they are a barbershop quartet composed of Nbowa, Stargel, Arcturus, and Piroshki. They did a mini concert, taking about an hour. And OH MY GOD they were good! Like, phenomenal. I was really, really impressed. They later explained that they had only had a chance to practice a few times over the past 3 or so months. They weren't perfect, but considering how little time they practiced as a group, they did an amazing job. I am pretty confident their performance was recorded, so I highly encourage you to look it up, cuz goddamn. I also ran into my Iowa Fur friend Alex (who was in his Asriel Dreemur outfit).
After their performance, I went over to Fursuit Price Is Right for a little bit (I usually like to check it out, because it's pretty fun), but it was in the process of wrapping up, so I went over to the Dealer's Room instead, to take a look around. Unlike in previous years, where the dealers were crammed into the lower level of the Hyatt, they now had a massive room to spread out in, and apparently the number of dealer tables tripled from last year. There was SO MUCH STUFF. Art, merchandise, fursuits, fursuit parts, you name it. Not a whole lot I wanted to purchase, but still impressive.
While I was there, I ran into Xander The Blue. I introduced myself, and we got a chance to talk briefly. It was the first time I had met him out of suit, which was a nice surprise. Apparently his graduation ceremony was held in the Rosemont Convention Center. After our brief chat, he departed to meet up with a friend of his. I assumed he was busy, so I went on my way. After the con, I spoke with him on Telegram, and apparently he was feeling a particularly pronounced case of social anxiety, which was what kept our interaction short. Considering I was feeling social anxiety just approaching the guy, I completely understand. =)
After my encounter with Xander, I went back over to the con to attend the panel "So You Want To Perform at the Furry Variety Show". It was billed as a panel for giving tips about making a great performance for the variety show (or other similar things at other cons). What I got was... a bit of a let down. There were a total of 4 of us in the room: the panelist, a friend of his, me, and one other audience member. Remembering what happened to me at Fur Squared this year, I decided to stick around through the whole thing, as a sign of solidarity. And I'll be honest, it was awkward. The pacing was kind of slow, the people running it kind of got "too into it" with their demonstrations of past performances, there were problems with the bluetooth speaker, and they were rather focused on a specific class of performance (comedic skits).
All in all, I was disappointed with it. But I did get a few things out of it: practice your idea before auditioning, make it polished, do your best to keep it interesting in more ways than one, and don't be discouraged if you don't get picked your first time.
After that, I went back to the hotel room, ate some quick food, and got into suit. Lemmie tell you, I missed being in suit SOOO much. I've been busy a lot lately, so I haven't had time to practice fursuit performance at my apartment. As a result, the last time I was in suit was at StormCon in September. So, it was a big deal for me. Suiting is so freeing and fun! You can be a goofball and a complete idiot, and people will just laugh and take pictures. It's great!
This time was no exception. I posed for pictures, I ran into 1coin my Ant friend and stole his sugarcube (before giving it back), I ran into some of my Iowa furs friends, I found a guy who was playing violin and I sat and listened while swaying to the music, I went down to the board game room and sat in on people's games briefly, I played around with a cute alligator banana plush creature, and I sat in on a giant game of Dread in one of the panel rooms (they lost but in a hilarious way). Overall, I was pretty pleased with the amount of interaction I got. I also got complements on the Sprout I was wearing (thank you Sven!).
I wanted to keep suiting, but I had events I wanted to attend, so I ended up going back and getting cleaned up around 9ish. It made me start thinking about how I could improve my fursuit performance, or fursuiting in general. I'm going to make an effort to improve my suit endurance (looking at you, Serathin #goals), and really practice my performance. I've learned a few new tricks (sitting with people playing music, stealing things, etc), but I'd like to take it further. I also want to get some kind of a prop, as while I am cute, my suit is kind of plain, and I'd like to have something that catches people's eye a little better (as I continue to improve my performance).
I took too long in the shower (I was daydreaming about my next fursuit), so I ended up being a little late to my next event, "I Comedy Better After I've Had A Few" featuring Alkali and Boozy Badger (later joined by Renegade, captain of the Dorsai). The basic premise: put Alkali and Boozy on a stage and have them BS for an hour and a half. It's a fairly standard formula (swap out various performers) but it usually results in hilarity and awesomeness. This time was no exception. It was filmed.
The panel ended up running a bit long, so it butted up against Whose Line (which Alkali also ran, so it's no biggie). Definitely one of the better audience-participation Whose Lines, though there were plenty of "lol I'm being edgy" jokes. Remember, kids: clever is better than crude. Of note, this was also Alkali's 10 year anniversary of running Whose Line panels, so his long-time co-host Sema (who hosted the panel in her adorable wild dog fursuit) got a bunch of people to sign a card for him. There were tears, it was sweet.
Seriously, Akali is one of my favorite people in the fandom, because while he is hilarious and vulgar, he is incredibly sensitive and passionate about furry. A giant loudmouth with a heart of gold. Not to mention he and Xander are a friggin adorable couple.
After Whose Line, I was beat, so I went back to the room and promptly passed out.
Saturday
Once again, a somewhat restless night's sleep. Ended up sleeping in until 9 or something. Got up, got some breakfast, and made my way down to the con for a little bit. Briefly sat in on the "Fursuiting In Public" panel. I don't remember the names of the other two people at the panel, but I did recognize Epitome (probably should have said hi). It was funny, though like many of these panels, there was a lot of "audience participation." I'm sorry, but it kind of cheeses me off when people go to panels and start giving long explanations and commentary, instead of letting the panelists talk. They're the experts, so please don't upstage them at their own panel.
Anyway, I left partway through to go find some lunch. Got a cheap hotdog and pretzel over by the dealer's room. I went back to my room to get in suit in preparation for the fursuit Menagerie. I ended up getting there a little bit late, and scrambled over to one of the photo stations to be there for a 1:15 photo shoot. However, apparently they had restructured the Menagerie. Instead of having one picture, they had many pictures during the 15 minute window for a given fursuit type.
Let me back up. At 15 minute intervals, each of the 10 photo stations took photos of certain "demographics" of fursuits. Color, species, fursuit maker, style of suit, special features, etc. During each of those 15 minute intervals, they took several different pictures of the people in those demographics. This was different from the previous year, where they just took one big group picture at the given time. This made it much easier for suiters to show up and be photographed, because they didn't have to rush over to the stations by a given time.
Anyway, I participated in the photoshoots for dragons, for orange fursuiters, and for fem suits. The dragon one was pretty unremarkable. The orange one was fun, though. Between photos, we danced to the music, played with a toy orange wheel (which I subsequently stole, before giving back), and rolled around on the floor. I also ran into Hemlock while I was there, which was a nice surprise (he says he's orange, but I still think he's brown). At the fem suit shoot, I ran into the two cat ladies I met at StormCon (Mieze and his fiancee). We got a few photos, and then I went on my way. I took a brief break outside, and I ran into Spidy, one of my roommates from Furry Migration 2016. We hugged, hung out for a bit, and then I left.
In the headless area, I met up with Hemlock again, as well as his hyena friend, Akila. She seemed like a pretty chill person. Also her suit was SUPER PLUSHY. Like, dropped crotch, big belly, large thighs, the works. It was really cute, but she explained that it was REALLY hard to move around in it (not to mention extremely warm). We hung out for a bit, and then we parted ways, and I went back to my room to cool off and clean up. I had to motor it, in order to make it back in time for...
Celebrity Whose Line Is It Anyway? Easily one of my favorite panels of any con, it was an absolute riot. While the audience-participation Whose Line is funny at times, these guys are well-practiced, skilled improv comedians. They even had a few new faces (Isaac and Tiller, who apparently were professional improv comics). So, the caliber of humor was much higher, and I loved it. I am very confident it was filmed, so you should check it out.
After the panel, I met up with Jake, and we got tacos from the food vendor in the lobby (they were tasty but messy). We had a long discussion about furry in general, about what makes the fandom so special and welcoming and friendly. We concluded that a couple things contributed to this.
First, because furry has been the butt of jokes for decades, it has brought the people within it closer together. After all, hardship often strengthens bonds. Second, furry is much more tolerant of the "adult" side of the fandom. Unlike other fandoms (like bronies, for example), furries do not have a media franchise breathing down their neck about not having "adult" things at the conventions. There is an adult side to most fandoms, but if they are tied to a franchise, those fandoms have to keep the adult side buried underground, and pretend it doesn't exist. Furries, on the other hand, know that it exists, acknowledge it, but keep it private. They know that some people are into that sort of stuff, but they don't judge people for it, as long as they keep it to themselves. Sort of a large-scale example of "your kink is not my kink and that's okay." And because furries are comfortable knowing these things about their friends, it fosters an atmosphere of non-judgment, which makes friendships even stronger. Furries don't care what you're into; as long as you're a cool person and aren't hurting anybody, we can be friends. And I think that's pretty darn special.
Anyway, Jake and I talked for a bit about that stuff, and then he went to Floor Wars, while I went to the 3 Headed Monster show. For the unfamiliar: Xander The Blue, Pandez, and Alkali each do back-to-back 20 minute comedy sets. Hilarity ensues. This time was no different. It was filmed, go check it out. As was the following panel: the Dragget Show Live. As usual, good times had by all, lots of fun. Though shameless plug: at the end of the Dragget Show's live shows, they always turn off the recording devices and tell a "charity story", which is usually something they're too embarrassed to share on camera. So if you want to hear stories that no one else gets to hear, be sure to attend the panels live.
After that, I considered sitting in on the Jackbox After Dark panel, but since I could probably play that anytime I want, I instead elected to do some people watching. Wait around long enough, and you are bound to find something interesting. There were tons of fursuiters, as usual. Silly antics, cool designs, the works. It's fun to just revel in it for a while. OH! I did see a gentleman dressed as Skull Kid from Majora's Mask; he was playing music on his little boombox. It was pretty fun. I also saw a Lambchop fursuiter. Never thought I'd see one of my childhood heroes brought to life in giant form.
Finally, it was time for the event I was waiting for: Fox and Pepper's After Dark concert. I sat with Jake and Hemlock for the show. It was hilarious and amazing as usual. But, this time was a bit different in a few ways. First, the band was joined up on stage by a bassist named Flop (who was apparently a bunny, but he was wearing a lady wolf fursuit head and paws). His antics throughout the show were pretty adorable, and he is a fantastic bass player. They also had a fiddle player (who was also in suit), didn't catch their name though.
Second, and more importantly, Alkali was there, and he was on a mission. He knew that last year, that panel raised $3000 for charity, which was the most money a non-convention-sponsored event had raised that year (or ever?). His goal was to beat that record. So he set up stretch goals for different tiers of money. If they reached $1000, fox and pepper had to put on their fursuit heads. At $2000, they had to get into partial suits. At $3000, Fox would put on his full fursuit. And at $5000, Alkali promised to make a Christmas album with Fox and Pepper (at some point).
Well, we hit 1k. And 2k. And 3k. And 5k.
But it kept going. And going. Alkali brought out an iPad with a card reader, so that people could donate with their credit cards. I ended up putting down $100 to help get the total up higher. More and more money kept pouring in, it was ridiculous!
All told that night, that panel raised $8,000. This ended up being more than any other event at MFF this year, con-sponsored or otherwise (other than closing ceremonies). People went insane. Alkali was in tears. And Pepper sang the Bad Dragon song. It was pretty spectacular. I'm pretty sure it was filmed. Hemlock left early, so he missed out on the final number.
After the concert was over, Jake and I went back to the room to get to bed. We ended up staying awake for a good 30 minutes chatting, because Jake didn't want the night to end. He unfortunately had to fly out on Sunday morning, so it was his last night at the con. But I think he had fun. Hopefully I'll see him at the next MFF (or possibly sooner; I did try to convince him to go to Fur Squared).
Sunday
Jake woke up early and left. I made sure to give him a hug before he departed. After getting a little more shuteye, I got some breakfast and went over to the Charity Auction.
Now, the MFF charity auction is enjoyable, and usually has a lot of good stuff at it. Indeed, this time, they ended up auctioning off not one, but two fursuits, as well as a ton of other swag. However, it suffers from one critical flaw: they have it in the morning on Sunday. Furries, being party animals (see what I did there?), like to stay up late, and then sleep in. Sunday is the last day of the con, which means that the furries have had two nights of partying prior. As a result, they are either not present, or very tired, at the charity auction. This makes it difficult to raise a large amount of money. More people, more excitement, higher bids. Fewer people, less excitement, lower bids. I think, if they rescheduled the charity auction to a different time, they may end up getting more money for charity.
At any rate, it was still a good time, and I ended up winning a "dragon oil warmer". It's basically a little candle holder with a tray up top that you can use to heat essential oil, to make the house smell nice. Kamber, the lady running the auction, kept making comments about "lubricating your dragons" and such, to encourage interest. I jokingly said "this is making me not want to buy it." But I still bought it, and it's pretty cool. But I didn't stick around to the very end of the charity auction, because I was hungry, and it was running long. I ducked out early to get a cheeseburger.
After lunch, I debated about going to the fursuit dance competition. I usually really enjoy it; it's frequently been one of my favorite events at the con. However, I figured "eh, you've seen one dance comp, you've seen them all" and decided to go over to the dealer's room. I was on a mission: to find a portable cooling fan for my fursuit. You know, the ones that fursuiters hang from their neck, and occasionally stick in their mouths to cool off? One of those. I learned from Dark that Dreamvision Creations was selling them. So I went over and sought out their booth; they thankfully had a few left. It was a bit more expensive than I expected, but I figured it was fine, as I was paying to support a furry company.
While I was there, I noticed a table off to the side. "Furries: A Documentary by Eric Risher." Seated at the table was (big surprise) Eric Risher. I knew I had to go up and say hi. See, I was one of the super-backers for the Kickstarter that made this documentary a reality. I put a lot of money toward this project, and I ended up getting a copy of the DVD, a giant poster, a pin, my name in the credits of the movie, and a badge of my fursona. I was wearing that badge at MFF. And he was there. It would have been foolish not to approach him.
So I did. I went up and thanked him for making such a great documentary. And then he thanked ME for supporting him. He's a really humble guy. We talked briefly about how his booth was doing, and then I bid him adieu (didn't want to take up too much of his time). But yeah, it was cool to meet someone in person that I had only ever seen in film. After looking around the dealers room some more, I moseyed back to the hotel. I did some people-watching for a while, got a few photos. Then I caught the tail-end of the dance comp, where they announced the winners. Apparently Gale Frostbane (AKA Nexus) was the MC, and it was her first time doing so. She apparently did a really good job. Not gonna reveal the winners, you need to see the videos to do that.
Afterwards, I ran into Hemlock and Akila, both in-suit. Akila was helping Hemlock be less shy in suit, and she did so by thrusting him at random other fursuiters in the crowds. Hemlock interacted for a little bit, and then Akila dragged him off to find more groups, shouting "Pay attention to Akila's adorable friend!" It was quite hilarious, and Hemlock ended up getting involved in some cute pictures. I decided to play handler for the two for a bit. After a while, we went over to the headless lounge to cool off. There I ran into Comet Scrap, my roommate from MFF last year (whom I hadn't seen all con). It was good to see her, albeit briefly, before she went to go join her bat friends again. While she was there, I received a #SaveTheBats ribbon from one of her friends.
After my furred friends cooled off, Akila left to go back to her hotel room, and me and Hemlock went to closing ceremonies. It was pretty standard. "Thank you for a great weekend, here's what we're planning for next time, here's so and so to talk about the good and the bad stuff."
8,700+ attendees. A world record. MFF beat Anthrocon's total by at least 1,200, and was the first fur con to break 8,000 attendees (and they're well on their way to 9,000). It was pretty mind-blowing. The crowd went nuts!
But it wasn't over yet.
Remember how I said the Fox And Pepper After Dark show was the biggest charity fundraiser at the con, except for closing ceremonies? Let's talk about that.
So they started rattling off numbers, from various events. 1k here, 2k there, 900 somewhere else, etc., plus a $40,000 check from MFF (the organization). That put the total to $63,000. I thought "oh, that's a big number, but it's smaller than last year."
Then Alkali showed up and said, "we're not done yet."
Apparently, throughout the weekend, a whole ton of people approached Alkali and flashed large wads of cash at him, saying "I'm saving this for closing ceremonies."
Well, it was closing ceremonies, so all of those people bum-rushed the stage, throwing money at the con staff. Alkali tossed his hat into the audience, and it brought in even more cash. The staffers had to bring out these large plastic tubs just to hold all the money that was pouring in. It was insane! There were just these mountains of money, and more kept coming. I even saw a little boy, no older than 4, tottering up to the stage with his dad, a $20 bill clutched in his hand.
And then someone named Shadowfox wrote a check for $8,700.
They took the money backstage and began counting it, after it was all collected. After a while, Alkali walked out, tears streaming down his face. He knew it would be a lot of money, but he never expected how much it was going to be.
Closing ceremonies raised $12,000.
All told, the final charity donation to CRISP for MFF 2017 was north of $85,000. The crowd went nuts. There wasn't a dry eye on the stage. The one lady said that this money would be enough to keep them out of debt for over 2 years.
And that's why I love this fandom. Yes, many fandoms raise money for charity. It's one of the ways conventions stay in business: by billing themselves as charity fundraisers, they're able to maintain goodwill with the public. This is normal. However, furries take this to a whole other level. I've been to brony conventions; they raise money for charity, and it's usually a hefty sum. But NOT ONE brony convention I've been to has people making a mad dash for the stage to throw money at the charity. None raise $8,000 at a random for-fun concert late at night. None of them have individual donors giving thousands of dollars in a single go. To be fair, the most expensive item sold at a charity auction (that I've seen) was at Bronycon 2015 (it went for $4,500). But from what I've seen, furries take generosity and charity to an unprecedented fanaticism.
As I said to Hemlock: "Furries have one goal when it comes to charity: make 'em cry."
In other news, apparently Kodi is stepping down as chairman of MFF, and Rama is taking his place. There were some tears, and people thanked Kodi for his service.
After closing, Hemlock headed out to go back to his room to clean up. I made my way up to the O'H restaurant for dinner. It was a decent wait, but they gave me bread to tide me over while my meal was prepared. And boy was a meal it was. I thought to myself "I'm on vacation, I'm going to have one nice meal while I'm here." So I ordered a fish dish. The waiter came out with a fantastic plate: pan-seared salmon stuffed with crabmeat and greens, mashed potatoes, and blackened asparagus. It was HEAVENLY! Probably one of the best restaurant meals I've had in a while. Highly recommended for those who go to MFF next year.
After my lovely meal, I briefly considered going fursuiting. However, after some consideration, I realized I was exhausted from the weekend, and didn't feel like going through all the trouble of getting into suit (which meant going back to my hotel). So I decided to spend my final evening at MFF people watching, and taking pictures.
The con was over, but the party wasn't done yet. A steady stream of fursuiters passed through the con space. Just as it was seeming to die down, more showed up. I saw Majira, Sunny Dingo, Crescent, Bluenose, and countless others. I even decided to film a few mini vlogs while I looked around. And that's what's cool about people-watching at a fur con: wait around long enough, and something cool is bound to happen. They even had another "asian photo booth" forming (I chose not to stick around, because it felt kind of like they were trying to re-do what happened last year).
While I was heading over to the bathroom, I ran into a few other furries (not in suit). One of them commented on the sprout pin in my hat. I had received it as a gift from my roommate Sven last year. She explained that it meant "sprout the love." So i held onto it, as a way to spread a little joy as I went. But yeah, one guy asked me about it, so I explained. There was another lady there, who seemed pretty cool. I complemented her on her makeup, and asked her about how she did it.
See, my girlfriend had challenged me to find one person to flirt with, and get their number/contact info, as a way of helping me break out of my shell a little. Now, as someone who knows very little about flirting, I decided to take a cue from my girlfriend: complement them on their makeup, and ask them about it.
So I did so, with this lady. She explained, and it was going well. We were having a nice conversation for a bit. But then she explained that she was waiting on HER girlfriend in the bathroom. And I started noticing her looking around anxiously a little. So, as not to make her uncomfortable, I decided to say "nice meeting you" and left. Yeah, I didn't get anyone's number, but at least I tried.
Anyway, after flitting around the con for a while and taking more pictures, I ran into Hemlock again. He was partial suiting this time. Apparently he felt more open and comfortable being in partial. Whatever works, I guess? Anyway, we hung out with his friends for a bit, and we goofed around, taking pictures and booping him on the nose. It was good times.
After a while, I decided it was time to go to bed, so I said goodbye to Hemlock (who I might see again soonish at MCFC next year?) and made my way back. I was starting to feel a little down, but my spirits were lifted as I ran into a cute rat femsuiter. Her suit was apparently brand new (and VERY adorable), so I made sure to get her picture. It's funny how just being around a fursuiter can help you feel better.
So I went back to my room and started getting ready for bed. As I did so, Arylena came back to the room, followed by Dark, and we chatted for a bit (mostly about art commissions and conventions and travel). It was nice to unwind a little before bed. But yeah, I was pretty tired, and I knew Ary had an early morning flight, so I hit the hay.
Monday
Both Ary and Dark left very early in the morning. I made sure to say goodbye to each as they left. Then I promptly went back to sleep.
After sleeping in a bit more, I woke up, ate, and packed up my stuff. I was able to get everything in two trips, but it was a struggle. Next time I'll get a luggage cart. Also, next time I'll try to find cheaper parking. I didn't get a room that validated parking, and it ended up being $20 a day for parking.
Somewhat disgruntled by the cost, I got in the car and drove for 5 hours back home, to be ready for work the next day.
Overall
This was a pretty fantastic convention. New friends, met pretty much all of my existing ones, managed to overcome my fear of talking to famous people not once, but twice, and gave more money to charity than I had budgeted for. I didn't suit as much as I would have liked, but that's something I can work on for next con. Like I said, I'm going to make an effort to improve my fursuit endurance, so that I can be in suit for longer. I'm also going to investigate ways to make partial suiting more feasible for me. Dresses? Robes? Something that covers my tail?
We'll see.
Anyway, yeah. MFF. If you haven't been, go. It's great. Seriously.

FROM ONE PIKACHU TO ANOTHER sidenote do they play pokemon in the au do they have fave pokes. also i can't wait for alex and maggie to meet and realize they're soulmates and to be like "ok but i'm still mad about the trex and feathers thing" and then forl ucy to come in like "guys theyve been dead for years"
oh oh dude okay so I hadn’t really thought about it in context of the soulmate au specifically so it hasn’t been mentioned and it probably won’t be but they totally do and on valentines day when Magie is like 6 she doodles a pokeball and some cheesy shit like I choose you to be my soulmate and it’s adorable.
Also that is totally like an ongoing ‘fight’ Alex and Maggie have, like Maggie actually took some paleontology classes for funsies and as an adult she actually thinks it’s really cool the kind of strides we’ve made in science and the hows and whys T-Rexes probably had feathers but then there’s the little kid nostalgia and Alex gets so worked about science facts so Maggie just ‘nope 15 years later and it’s still lame’ and they bicker endlessly about it
And when Lucy is like ‘guys guess what? they’ve been dead for years, technically none of them have feathers anymore.’
Maggie looks up at her with the biggest saddest eyes and Alex pouts because she was going to get Maggie to see reason this time but now look at how sad she is and Lucy is just jfc how did I end up with such nerds for soulmates and she has to go put on Jurassic Park 2 and cuddle with them(Jurassic Park is Maggie’s go to comfort movie but Jurassic Park: The Lost World  is Lucy’s ‘I fucked up by saying the dinosaurs were extinct to end an argument so now we have to watch a T-Rex rampage through San Diego to balance it out).
Sooooo….I got so carried away with various pokemon hcs that I had to put it under a cut….
I have so many poke hc’s for them in general but like I tend hc Maggie as a gamer, little Maggie growing up and she can’t afford to collect the cards but she loves the anime and eventually saves up enough to get a gameboy color. Her first game is red and she plays it so many times she practically wears out the cartridge. She’s the first person (and only for awhile) in blue springs to catch Mew. She eventually collects and plays all the games and she’s a complete expert on all the glitches and secrets.
Alex was more of a casual fan she watched the anime sometimes but Vicky liked playing the games so Alex asked her parents to buy her a gameboy color and trading pokemon on the playground is probably the most social Alex ever was without alcohol.
She did really REALLY get into collecting the cards though and at one point Maggie and Alex visit Eliza in Midvale and Alex’s room is as she left it. Maggie is having fun poking around and teasing Alex for her Xena memorabilia and Dana Scully and BtVS posters(seriously Danvers, Faith is practically eye-fucking the camera in that one across from your bed how did you not know)  when she finds the three thick Pokemon card binders and freezes. Alex notices and grabs them like I totally forgot I had these and she starts flipping through one reminiscing and handing another to Maggie and Maggie almost shits herself because Alex has a first edition base set holo Charizard, she has all the starters, she has all the original 151 cards in various editions from different series and collections , She has holos, she has Japanese cards, she has shining cards. Kara ends up stopping by because I could hear Maggie’s erratic heart rate from National city and ‘holy shit is everyone okay?’
Alex’s attachment to the cards is more nostalgia than anything so she’s like you can have them if you want, Maggie almost has a heart attack. Of course she refuses those cards are worth more than she makes in a month but Alex brings them back to National City and they just kind of end up ‘Maggie’s’ anyway.
Lucy collected the cards too but she actually played the trading card game. Being an army brat could be isolating but pokemon in the 90s was inescapable and it was something to do on any base, in any school she ended up in for awhile. Lucy played to win and for keeps and she ended up with her own pretty decent collection of cards even though hers aren’t nearly in the kind of mint condition Alex’s are in. Maggie still hyperventilates sometimes if she catches sight of the 5 card binders on the bookcase(Alex organized Lucy’s collection from an old shoebox into binders of their own).
For her birthday Lucy and Alex get Maggie an unopened special edition pokemon gameboy color from the yellow bundle. She cries because she had wanted that one more than anything as a kid but couldn’t afford it and they spend the night cuddled up together playing pokemon on their gameboys like the nerds they are.
Maggie and Winn stay up all night outside gamestop for the 20th aanniversary red and blue 3ds bundle.
Maggie’s ultimate fav is Bulbasaur she remembers watching the anime and wishing she had one to protect her from the bullies and eventually she gets older and decides she may never have a Bulbasaur but she can be one for others.
She has a bunch of favorites though including pikachu (she will physically fight anyone who says something about anyone not being a ‘real fan’ because pikachu is too famous or popular a pokemon), Aerodactly, Kabuto(her first body on the beach she sees a horseshoe crab and has to try really hard not to lose her shit because she’s from landlocked nebraska, and she is looking a kabuto and basically it’s an effort to remind herself that she is a newly promoted detective that needs to get her shit together) Tauros, Nidoqueen, Donphan, Tyranitar(basically if it’s vaguely dino-like she has a soft spot but dragons can go either way stemming from her childhood belief they arent as cool as dinos), Mightyena, Groudon, alright I’m going to stop but she develops favorites in each gen.
Alex meanwhile is staunchly first gen and she and Maggie bicker about constantly.
Alex tended to favor water pokemon but not exclusively some of her faves Lapras, Vaporeon, Porygon, Starmie, Dratini, Ninetails, Abra/Alakazam and Onix. She also has a secret soft spot for Togepi as well as Espeon and Umbreon who she thinks of kind of like her and Kara, sun and moon and argues that they still technically count as 1st gen because they’re eevee evolutions.
Lucy is mostly only really familiar with the first gen and some of the second but she doesn’t really care either way and will choose sides based on maximum amusement for the moment. Some of her favs include Squirtle/Blastoise, Arcanine, Pidgeot, Nidoking, Machamp, Lickitung, Gyarados, Flareon.
And well Alex is a BIOengineer and she studies alien physiology and genetic engineering and if anyone was going to ‘accidentally’ create real life pokemon it would be her okay.
(mostly I just really think J'onn needs a Ditto…..)
And I was talking about this with nerdsbianhokie ages ago and they pointed out that Alex has seen Jurassic Park enough times to know to not create large creatures that can kill humans and would probably go with the mini-zoo variety and then they blessed me with the mental image of a tiny little Ditto riding on J'onn’s shoulder.
Vasquez would end up making obligatory pocket size jokes that they don’t even pretend aren’t about Maggie and Lucy. They’d only stop when Alex threatens to withhold the actual mini pocket monsters from them and even then only when They’re within ear shot of Alex.
The spacefam ending up with mini-pokemon protectors. Maggie gets her fucking Bulbasaur and everyone cries.
And then my dude I have not even touched on pokemon go hc’s
Kara blowing an entire paycheck on upgrading her pokemon storage because she can’t bring herself to turn any of her duplicates into candy and she needs to catch every single pokemon she sees. She has like a thousand pidgeys at this point.
Nerdsbianhokie was like but Kara being upset that she flies too fast for the app.
And Alex/Maggie/Lucy? Pokemon go would be terrible and awesome for those competitive nerds. They have zero shame.
Lucy exploits her military contacts, her and Alex abuse DEO resources, Alex makes Kara fly her around the world to get the region locked pokemon.
After Lucy came back from a ‘work trip’ in Asia with a Farfetch’d,  Alex made Kara take the day off and wouldn’t let them go home til she had multiple Farfetch'ds, Kangeshkans, and Mr. Mimes.
Maggie tries to keep up but detecting only gets her so far. She does have a network of ppl who are the type to text the location of a Lapras at 3am.When Kara realizes the edge Lucy and Alex have she starts exclusively helping Maggie.
Alex is completely overdramatic like my own sister, MY OWN SISTER pretending to pretend to make a huge production about loyalty. And Kara’s just like ‘I’m just being fair besides Lucy and Maggie are my sisters too at this point’ and Alex just melts. She also gets Winn to build her a long range Jet pack into the kryptonite suit in an attempt and get back on top of the game but she’s melty while doing it.
Winn Mr.tech genius manages to get himself banned from ‘suping’ up his account and has to start over at level 21. He cries.
As repayment for not commenting upon the melty-ness during the jet pack building Alex takes his phone with her on flights since he had to start over. Of course, being Alex she doesn’t actually say this she just sort of punches his arm in thanks, steals the phone and drops it back into his lap later with a few eggs hatched, some new pokemon and a full items inventory.
Lucy realizes she’s the only one currently unable to fly which oh hell no so she starts scheming.
‘Director Lane, did you requisition military resources for a video game?’  'Of course not, it’s an app.’ (via nerdsbianhokie)
Vasquez is the first to get the original 151….All of them… no one understands, they have no obvious hacks, seemingly haven’t left North America, Ditto is still a spoty rumor at that point and Mewtwo is confirmed as not yet available or even programed and yet… Vasquez has them. When anyone asks They deflect and says you should see my wife’s.
Erin is level 48 way too early in the game. She has a Mew. Everyone is kinda of scared of them after learning about it, the true power couple.
No one ever figures out how they did it.
J’onn just wants his agents to behave like professionals and bans non-related phone use during working hours after seven agents ran away from their posts to catch a Charizard. He’s in the middle of lecturing them when Lucy and Alex stroll in like did you guys see that Charizard?!
(Kara downloaded the app to his phone and J’onn totally caught the Charizard)
James takes pictures of the gang doing absolutely ridiculous things while trying the catch pokemon and it becomes a meme.
There’s a gym (The D.E.O was also accidently made a gym what no Vasquez and Winn had nothing to do with that what are you talking about) accessible from Alex’s apartment and it’s a bloodbath because they’re all on different teams, Maggie-Instinct, Lucy-Valor and Alex-Mystic.
Just yea……uhmmm this all got away from me *shrugs sheepishly*
