Only Human masterlist
Tumblr media
You were ashamed to admit it, but you liked their attention, the fussing and careful scurrying around you. You liked having them put their best into caring for you, big hands gentle and small hands meticulous for you, every aspect that made them so big and dangerous mellowed down to the danger of a small pup, harmless and adorable —they clung to you like bright-eyed and lost pups anyway, especially Soap, tapping into his inner wolf and acting as one more often than he did as a man when you got soft and cuddly. They were careful around you when you were wounded, you were human while they were hybrids with strength rivaling an army. You were slightly bothered that you couldn’t treat yourself, having a fellow medic patch you up with skilful and steady hands.
You shot her a pained smile, bordering on a wince, and she laughed, her whole body wracked with laughter when you told her your supposed embarrassing story about how you got shot by sheer chance from people who didn’t even know how to hold a gun correctly. She was like an older sister to you, more experienced and face wrinkled from exhaustion and stress, long nights in the infirmary did little for the complexion. She talked you through the process despite you adamantly swearing that you knew it by heart from reciting it over and over for the men you worked with (she knew, but who was she to look a gift horse in the mouth when the occasion to tease her younger coworker?).
König sat you through all the hissing and teeth grinding you did, biting your lip until it bled to stop yourself from making too much sound, it graced König with little whimpers and groans that he wished were from another occasion. He held your hand, feeling your smaller one wrapped around his palm, fingers slipping between his and your dull nails sink into his knuckles, the skin dried and cracked from his lack of care. And when you started grumbling lowly about knowing how to care for the few stitches she gave you and making sure you didn’t get an infection or pull them, but she pushed on, ignoring both your annoyed grumbling and König’s amusement.
When she was done, you were free to leave when the drip emptied it’s saline into your body, a little boost or recharge depending on how you looked at it until you showered and went to bed. Saline might help tide the nausea and confusion, but without true rest, you wouldn’t heal properly. You gave it half an hour or so until it stopped, giving you ample time to relax into König’s broad figure, his body moulding to fit yours. You slumped into his chest, back melting into the warm arms that wrapped a round your, careful about the needle and your freshly-wrapped thigh. He was warm and tender, a hand smoothing circles on your good thigh, coaxing you to close your eyes in exhaustion and pain. Your body burned despite the numbness and heaviness in your limbs, your nerves fried by the lingering effect of adrenaline, hungover from it and a throbbing wound.
Perhaps it wouldn’t be such a bad idea to rest your eyes a bit, seeing that König had no intention of moving from his spot as your big, big teddy bear. Afterwards, you’d get something to eat after a relaxing and cleansing shower, it was well deserved at this point. You wondered if Horangi or Rudy cooked you something, they’ve always had such a meticulous hand in cooking, your rumbling stomach agreed with your thoughts, mouth almost salivating at the though of food.
“We’ll get you something to eat after, ja?” You felt his shoulders shaken with quiet laughter, hearing your stomach growl embarrassingly loudly for a room without any audience.
“I’d like that.”
Price gave you the next few days off, letting you spend your hours of rest doing whatever you liked, be it read, laze around or sleep. You couldn’t do too many physical activities without affecting your wound, too much pressure or movement could aggravate it, break your stitches and force you into a longer down time when you could get fixed up faster and get back in action much faster if you didn’t play with it.
You used your first day following whoever you stumbled into first, limping your way around the base until you found them running drills, once through an obstacle course with it’s walls, car tires, mud-covered crawls, the ropes and the many poles they had to scale or slide. It was a separate course built for hybrids, who’s bodies were more resilient that any of their parents, built for battle and triumph, but it was placed away from the others, the instilled fear of hybrids still so present in modern days. Despite being human, you liked training with them, passing the same course they did, you did so in need of being thought trustworthy, reliable and strong.
And since you sat out on the drill, they got competitive, snarling and growling at one another, teeth snapping and butting heads in a show of strength. It reminded you of bucks showing off their broadness, the strength and power they had over other bucks —competitors to breed. You couldn’t help but laugh at the sheer hilarity of seeing them hiss and snap at each other without touching or sabotaging, like little puppies fighting for one toy, which you figured would be you at the end of this squabble.
You couldn’t remember who bested the rest, but it was amusing to watch them run through the obstacle twice, sweating, panting and gasping, knowing full well that there were other things to do after this course. You limped along them, Gaz’sarm wrapped around your waist on the way to the shooting range where you’d - once more - watch them train their aiming and work out the kinks of a new rifle. He sat you against the wall and left you to the others while he got his rifle from the armoury, asking for a second pair of earmuffs to cover your ears.
You watched on in amusement as they scramble to best the others, testing the new rifle they were given. The knock back on the weapon was worlds stronger than the usual one, but the shot was proportional to it, stronger and packing more power that dented the cement behind it with each blow. It was a powerful gun that would be used by hybrids and monsters operators like TF141 and KorTac, used as powerful breaching weapons or in higher case scenarios. To balance the strength of it, the sound was as loud as an explosion, a booming sound that rang in your ear despite the plugs that sat protectively over your ears. Fortunately, this session lasted much shorter than the prior one and you were left to do whatever you wanted while they did their weights.
Every day was a repetitive cycle, watching them train and doing something to spend your time. On the first day, you spent the time resting, body lagging behind the others and sloppily limping around the base with your eyes drooping on occasions and your body heavy with exhaustion. You figured that you’d watch any show on the rec room’s flat screen, mindlessly watching scene fly by without absorbing it in and hoping you’d fall asleep after a while. And you did, your lids closing when you felt something heavy cover you and warm bodies wrapped around you in a strong and comforting hold.
When König went to search for you, he found you cuddling up with Ghost and Alejandro, their bigger bodies slumped into you to cover you in their warmth. Alejandro had his arm over your shoulder, wrapping around Ghost’s back, and Ghost gripped his waist, arm slipping under you to touch Alejandro, one man pulling the other closer to squeeze you between them. It looked so cozy that König was almost jealous that he couldn’t join in, but he wouldn’t wake you up from your slumber, the dark bags beneath your eyes screaming your exhaustion.
You had more energy the next day after spending many hours sleeping and catching up on it. You were practically on your toes the moment König knocked on your door, here to pick you up before breakfast. He stared at your wide smile and jovial expression, slightly confused about your unending mirth. While he wanted to stay with you, he had to leave you under Gaz and Rudy’s care, hoping that the two could help you spend that accumulated energy.
There weren’t many things you could do with a limp, anything labourous or physically draining was impossible wihtouthurting your leg. That left them watching you play around with Rudy’s cadejos after you begged so prettily, flashing him an adorable pout and big, doe eyes until he caved. You were rolling on the carpeted floor, laughing and cackling at the dogs, fingers carding through the white cadejo’s mane, scratching the sensitive spot behind his floppy ears. You switched between the black and white dogs, giving them an equal amount of affection, making kissing faces and ridiculous sounds that had Gaz and Rudy chuckling softly, smiles bright on their lips.
König was glad to see you less animated, resting your head on Gaz’s lap, nuzzling against his warm hand, nosing the calloused crease of his palm, and your feet crossed over Rudy, toes occasionally curling when his fingers skimmed over a sensitive patch of skin. You grumbled in your sleep, falling in and out of consciousness, lashes fluttering until they settled, arms swung around Rudy’s cadejos like you would with plushies, but with big and dangerous monsters. König thanked them for watching you, eyes softly admiring the trio before him, petting the dogs’ perked up heads, running over their ears and ruffling their fur. When he went to pick you up, you let out the smallest whine, unhappy about being moved from your comfortable spot between everyone.
The next two days were spent cuddling in a restless pile of wolf and tiger, stuck between two attention seeking shifters, Soap loudly whining and demanding attention, his tongue lolled out and panting loudly, unlike Horangi’s calm and subtle way of getting your affection, rubbing his body against yours and wrapping his tail around your forearm. It was a push and pull, one bark here and one hiss there, two big bodies pushing and backing up around you while they rubbed heads and pawed at your good leg. König and you got a good laugh out of it before he had to leave, his desk calling his name and the mounting load of paperwork needing his signature.
You eventually found yourself unable to move, limbs locked between those of striped and brown paws, their tensing and flexing arms, thick cords of sinewy muscle locked together in a mess they called a cuddle pile. Pulled from whatever you could have done and stuck in a warm and soft pile that shook and shuddered, Horangi’s soft purring and Soap’s low growls coaxing you to sleep. Eyes closing under the gentle vibration and watchful gaze, you dozed off without, blissfully unaware of two big, blinking pair of eyes that glared at anyone who made too much noise (poor Rudy got the scare of his life) when they wanted to get a drink or a quick snack from the room.
You woke up on someone’s back, slumped shoulders moving in a slow trot, furred paws choking out every step to your room with a Tiger beside you and König right behind you, his blue eyes squinted gleefully. It was all you could see of the smile that certainly curled the corners of his lips beautifully, a tender curl of scarred and jagged tissue to show his affection. You snuggled further into the mass of warm bodies, slept comfortably under caring and protective gazes that kept you safe - safer - that night.
Finally, seemingly missing the guiding presence of your captain, you had cheekily convoluted a day to sit in Price’s room with König’s help, leading you with a hand on your lower back after you insisted on walking. You were adamant that you could walk, frustrated and bored out of your mind that you couldn’t even walk around the base when all that you felt was a harsh pinch, stretch and ache of the stitched wound, the skin around it swollen and tender, and a bit of numbness in both your legs from the lack of use, being swiped off your feet and carried around for days. You limped your way into Price’s office, wearing a grin so wide it almost hurt before you thanked König with a hug, wrapping your arms around his and struggling to the couch pushed against the wall, all under Price’s arched brow and inquisitive gleam.
“Company for the old man,” was all you’d given him, trying your luck with the grouchy captain that was often glued to his desk signing papers and pushing plans through.
While he made calls here and there, you helped read through the many reports he received from this base and the others working alongside him for the international ground, summarising them in shorter and informative pieces, a quick read of a few dozens of pages down to one or two. While working all day, you both managed to shrink the pile to half it’s original size, leaving him things only he had jurisdiction to sign and write up and you the more trivial affairs. König helped you around the base to supper, a solid arm for you to lean on when your thigh pained you too much to keep going, hissing under your breath at the stinging pain. He fussed about it, quick to pick you up and rush you to the infirmary to have it check despite it being mild and dry, stitch still intact and swelling smaller.
Then you got sick of it, tired even, of all the fussing and overprotective behaviour. The constant looming over your shoulder, the fretting tone when they spoke to you and the constant strain on their face to not frown or wince at your grunts and hisses, it all annoyed you to the point of exhaustion. You felt as if the tables were turned, where you used to chase after them, med kit clipped to your hip and reminding them of their weekly checkups with you, you were now on the receiving end, stuck limping away from eight big and very worried hybrids.
It almost made you feel bad for being so insistent as their medic, but they had this horrid habit of hiding away to lick their wounds despite the need of sutures or cleaning, seemingly gaslighting themselves about the severity of it. You took it better, letting them pamper and spoil you until the end of the third week: being picked up rather than walking, being fed rather than eating and being entertained rather than left alone. You were always - always - under watch in case you —what? Reopened the now closed wound? Ripped yourself a new hole when the skin had nearly closed completely?
It was sore and sensitive, it was neither bleeding nor gaping. While you understood their concerns - as the medic of the TF- you hated the ceaseless surveillance. You’d ranted about it with your nurses, other medics that stayed on base and worked under you as aids and spare hands, and they listened feverishly whenever you were left alone, trusted by the hybrids who were acquainted by the many visits to keep you company on their own times.
And their solution to your plight? To sneak you off base and into the familiar pub you spent your days. The girls helped you move around without your crutch, all huddled around the back of the pub with drinks and fries, chatting and laughing loudly in your drunken haze. The first round went down as easily as the second and third one, jumping from one subject to the other, random quips here and funny remarks there. You were a chatty crowd, and it didn’t help that most of you were drunk, already having your fifth or sixth beer, stumbling around and slurring your words.
Their quickly made escape hadn’t lasted long though, perhaps an hour or two before any of the men started worrying and launched a search for you; and eventually, they did. They found you fumbling with your stuttered words, lids heavy as you stared back at Price’s exasperated frown. He sighed and mumbled lowly, the crowd around you parting as he moved in, his hands pulling you against him to leave. His hands were warm, soft despite the coarseness of his pads, lulling you to twist and turn against his chest, arms wrapping around the corded muscles of his back and nuzzled the ashy scent that lingered under his jaw with a sleepy groan.
Tumblr media
You swore and damned the world. The lights were too bright, every sound too loud and your body too sluggish to do anything but slump against the soft couch of the TF’s rec room, stomach down and face buried between your arms. Someone was laughing - two or three voices - at your spitting words, hungover from last night and mind feeling heavy. Price was berating your for your reckless act, mindful of the loudness of his voice, keeping it low and quiet, nearly a whisper to your clogged ears.
“Never doing that again,” you groaned, eyes squinted to keep any light out of your pulsing eyes, “Fuck.”
Price sighed. You somewhat regretted sneaking off, the guilt adding pain to your headache for worrying them so much.
“Sorry, Cap. I’ll just- ask next time.”
“If there’s a next time.”
He was angry.
“Yes, sir.”

I loved your recent Alhaitham fic! I was wondering if you would consider writing a pt. 2 where Alhaitham regrets how he treated you and attempts to win you back (maybe 4ggravate finds out and attempts to help Alhaitham to win you back)? I understand if not. Thank you for sharing your writing!
Thank you so much for liking my first fic! Feel free to request anything genshin-related and I’ll try my best to provide!
You kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath (pt. 2)
It was rare, I was there
Here’s part 1!
Synopsis: despite the neglect and everything that happened, you both still longed for each other…
Content: Alhaitham x fem!reader, wingmen!4ggravate, implied Dehyarzad, Collei, absent Cyno, Tighnari, second chances, writer!reader, angst to comfort, reader is with someone else
Warnings: slight cursing, long intro again (I can’t help it), mild spoilers for Sumeru archon quest chapter 3 act 2, Collei goes missing
Note: this part can be optional for you. If you prefer to end it at part one, then feel free to do so! But, if you’re a sucker for second chances (like me), then consider this a treat from me to you!
Nothing. You could hear nothing.
Not your heart pounding to the rhythm of your feet. Not the screaming in your head as you spotted familiar grey hair walking around the city. Your thoughts immediately tasted bitter—if he had the time to walk now, how come he hadn’t back then?
You surmise that you weren’t worth the step.
The weight of his absence hung over you like a storm cloud, casting a shadow over the warmth of the day. Despite your efforts to push the pain aside, it crept back, heavy and suffocating. Your mother's words echoed in your mind like a haunting refrain, a reminder that perhaps you had been foolish to invest so much in someone who couldn't reciprocate your love.
The shops were as busy and ever; merchant services, inquiries about products, scholars out in the open. You were out for groceries, almost ashamed for showing your face after the scene you caused 15 days ago. The world needed to know you were strong, though, so you put a big smile on your face and a new perfume worth Alhaitham’s salary. You even reached out to Cyno about the book you mentioned; so far, everything has been accurate, according to him.
“Y/N?” A familiar voice called to you. Turning your head in that direction, you see Dehya in the distance waving at you. Once you’ve said hello, she looked at you with a smirk on her face, “Wow, did a flower barf on you? You look radiant!”
“Radiant?” You humble yourself, “I don’t remember putting on any jewelry.”
“No, silly!” She gestured to your everything, “There’s this aura you’re emitting and it’s making you glow!” Glow? All you did these past few days was cry, eat, and write. Perhaps it was the tears that helped. They irritated your eyes so much it gave you a softer, more approachable look. “Do you think you could lend me some of that eyeshadow?”
Try crying every hour, Dehya. “Ah, I just did a favor for a friend studying cosmetology. I’m not entirely sure what products they used,” you lie. Thinking about Alhaitham will certainly eat you alive; you change the subject despite the flattery you enjoyed. “What brings you to the city?”
Enthusiasm spouts from the mercenary, “My lady Dunyarzad invited me over for the Sabzeruz Festival; and you know me, I gotta be there for my lady!”
You found it adorable—almost enviable—how they still keep in touch even after Dehya’s resignation. Call a spade a spade, that is real commitment. It makes you wonder if you’d be here, ‘radiant’ and ‘glowing,’ if you were treated that way.
“The Sabzeruz Festival? I didn’t realize it was so close. Wow, time surely flies.” Suddenly, you feel excitement rush through your veins, a new experience after days of steady tides.
“Couldn’t agree more,” said Dehya. From a distance, you both heard Dunyarzad call her name. “Ah, it looks like she needs me back there. I better go check on her. If you want, you should totally come over the bazaar once the festival is ready. Dunyarzad and I would be lucky to have you celebrate with us!” After you gave an accepting nod and farewell, Dehya ran off to the woman in purple, practically skipping on her feet.
As you watched their lively interaction, a surge of envy and longing swept through you. Their easy camaraderie and genuine happiness a stark contrast to the emptiness and loneliness gnawing at your insides. You had longed to experience that kind of connection, to be enveloped in the warmth of love and companionship once more. But deep down, you knew it was a distant dream, a fantasy you could never reclaim.
You weren’t a religious person, but out of sheer desperation, you prayed.
Lesser Lord Kusanali, please free me from this torment. Let the flowers in my garden bloom of life, let the fruits grow ripe even without much sun, let the trees reach the highest of buildings.
Simple greetings and little nods, Alhaitham wouldn’t have minded if those scholars were you. In fact, instead of returning those nods and hellos, he would embrace you, lift your feet off the ground and spin you around like you always wanted.
After you stormed out the tavern, Cyno went ahead and asked what happened to the both of you. For the first time, he couldn’t give a straight answer. Every excuse seemed to damage your image, and that was the last thing he wanted. Kaveh ended up taking over to save him the embarrassment.
The 15 days he burned for you were like falling into the abyss, fighting every day to the brink of death, unable to eat the sustenance that came from your warmth.
The now Scribe Alhaitham needed something to keep you off his mind. He considered attending a meeting, but none seemed to pique his interest. Every thought ended up on your doorstep, making him think of dropping by. “Kaveh,” he called the architect scribbling on his notebook, “have you seen Y/N, as of late?”
“No, she hasn’t been feeling well these past few weeks. Shouldn’t you be in a meeting?”
“Shouldn’t you be paying rent?”
Kaveh cursed at Alhaitham, “I’m trying to make the money, goddamit!”
“Maybe you would have the money if you stopped settling for your clients’ low budgets.”
“Is it hard to find me considerate?”
“I’d rather call it pathetic.”
“Go catch whatever Y/N has,” he shooed Alhaitham away, “maybe that would give you some perspective.”
The scribe stood silent for a few seconds. He knew his roommate was right, he should’ve thought about how you felt before anything. Kaveh was about to believe he had won a squabble for once, but then he suddenly revealed, “Y/N… is angry at me.”
Kaveh pshawed at him, “With the way you talked to her? No shit.” Alhaitham didn’t move an inch. “Hey, what happened there, anyway? It wasn’t like Y/N to burst out to you like that. Are you hiding something?”
With a sigh, the grey-haired man decided to reveal everything to his roommate. He listened intently, gasping and scolding him for his lack of attention towards you, adding salt to his open wounds. Upon recalling the words the scribe had said, Kaveh took a slight breath, “You fucked up.”
“I know.”
“You need to go fix this.”
“I know.”
“And you were calling me pathetic!”
“I know! I just-“ he couldn’t believe he was saying this. “I need help.”
As he was popularly known, Alhaitham wasn’t one to ask for help. Not because he had too much pride, but because he knew how to solve things like the back of his hand. He had access to numerous files from the Akasha, and he had connections to powerful people, being the scribe and all.
But this was a different situation. Every solution did not guarantee a 100% success rate, 87% at best, and that was not enough for Alhaitham. He was ready to do anything for you, to get on his knees and raise you to the highest regard, to even beg.
“I could ask Tighnari,” Kaveh began, “The Sabzeruz Festival is coming soon, maybe you could ask her out?”
Right, now that he’s perceived as a hero of his nation, he is expected to attend these festivals. He never bothered to come before, and he wouldn’t now, but he was willing to if it meant getting to see you again. “I don’t think she’ll be accepting me as her date.”
“Then we’ll talk to her.”
“Will she be willing to listen? Wait, isn’t she sick?”
Kaveh sighed, downhearted, “Right.” Then he clicked his fingers at the scribe, “I have an idea!”
“Collei? What are you doing here,” you said after opening your door. She drew a small grin with worried eyes, holding a box of goods for you. It’s been a while since you saw her, she grew up well, taller since your last meeting.
“Hello, miss Y/N! I heard from Master Tighnari that you weren’t feeling well,” yes, you distinctly remember lying to them (Tighnari, and Kaveh) so they wouldn’t see you as often. “So I thought I could bring you simple remedies.” The little girl observed you. “But now I think there’s no need for that,” she chuckled.
“Ah, yeah, don’t worry, it was just a small cold. Speaking of Tighnari, how come he isn’t here with you?” You ushered her in and sat her down for some tea, placing her box of medicines on the counter.
“He had some business to attend to with a merchant and allowed me to visit you. It’s been a while since you’ve travelled to Gandharva Ville, miss Y/N, do you have any plans on visiting?”
“Yes, I’m thinking of basing the rainforest as the main setting for my new book, actually.”
You both chatted about everything you could as you waited for the water to boil. Afterwards, you served a hot teapot, dwelling in mint and lotus herbs. “Ah, Collei, how long are you and Tighnari staying in the city?”
“Just for three days, though I would like to stay until after the Sabzeruz Festival,” she chuckles, holding her now warm cup in her hands.
“You could come with me if Tighnari would allow it.”
The little girl’s eyes beamed with stars, “Really? Oh, I’ve been dreaming of going to one for ages! Miss Nilou will be performing, right?” You nod to her delight, “Yes! Archons, I really hope Master would let me.”
As if he heard his name, Tighnari knocked on your door. Opening it, he looked glad seeing your healthy state. “Y/N! Good to see you’re feeling well now.” He peaked behind you to see Collei sip from her cup.
Upon recognizing her master, Collei got up and greeted him. “Hi, Master! Miss Y/N and I were just talking about the Sabzeruz Festival, and that I could come with her to see Miss Nilou perform!” Her enthusiasm was as contagious as a cold, you couldn’t help but laugh.
“As long as it wouldn’t be a hassle for Y/N, and that you would always be careful when purchasing products,” Tighnari worries like a mother. “Always look at the expiration dates, check if there are anything you’re allergic to.”
He goes on and on for about 5 minutes until you cut him off, “Alright, alright, Tighnari, it’s not like she’ll be going all alone; she has me with her!”
With this, Collei wrapped her arms around your waist, ever so thankful for your support. You thought of her as a niece, and she thought of you as an auntie, willing to give her advice on anything, trivial or not. After a few more words exchanged, and details for the festival, the pair decide to head to their cottage.
For once, you enjoyed your time and not think of Alhaitham once!
Oops.
It was the day of the Sabzeruz Festival; you had already picked Collei up from their cottage and are on your way to the Grand Bazaar. You could see thousands of attendees, travelling merchants, and familiar faces on the way.
As the vibrant colors and lights of the festival unfolded before you, the once a source of excitement and anticipation now loomed before you like a daunting reminder of what you had done. Despite Dehya's invitation, you couldn't shake the feeling of being an outsider, a solitary figure adrift in a sea of joyous revelry. Each smile, each laugh felt like a dagger to your already wounded heart, a painful reminder of the love you had lost and the embarrassment that now consumed you.
But this was no time for dwelling upon the memories that brought misery, remember, Collei is counting on you to give her a good time.
“Y/N, Collei!” You spot Kaveh in the distance waving and walking your way. Collei happily waved back. “I’m so glad I could run into you guys, you have no idea how terrified I am of meeting a client by accident.”
You laughed, “Do I have to accompany you, too, Kaveh?”
“Actually, I was thinking of letting you have some fun while I take care of little Collei here.” He ruffles her neatly-done hair, now messy but more natural-looking. This led Collei to bring out a small comb to fix it.
You felt irresponsible leaving Collei in someone else’s care, you’d said you would take care of her, and it felt like you would be breaking a promise if you agreed to his offer. You tuck your hair behind your ear, “I don’t know, Kaveh, something feels wrong about that, no offense. Plus, if something were to happen to Collei, we wouldn’t hear the end of it; you wouldn’t like Tighnari when he’s angry.”
“A fair point, but you’ve been locked up in your house for two weeks, I’m sure he wouldn’t mind. You deserve to be out there, butterfly, spread the wings you grew from being in that cocoon!”
That somehow felt too specific. Does he know something? Collei starts to agree, despite seeming so excited to go with you. “Even you, Collei?” You sigh, “Fine, but if something happens, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
You weren’t expecting to have so much fun here. The lights, the music, even the people were a blast! At first you were anxious for Collei, checking in from time to time, then as you continued to do so, your vists would be more spaced apart. You drank some punch with Dehya and Dunyarzad, who seemed to be doing really well for themselves, then you danced with the crowd in the name of Lesser Lord Kusanali.
After all of that, it was time for one last dance before Nilou’s grand performance. The band began to play a soft, romantic folk song. “Alright, Sumeru City,” called the lead singer, their voice sonorous with seduction, “before we settle down for the reknowned Nilou, let’s have a little treat for all the couples out there. So, grab your partner and dance along.”
Just as you were at the height of excitement, everything seemed to come crashing down again. You stood on the sidelines, feeling lost and out of place. Dehya and Dunyarzad swayed together, hand in hand. A lot of other couples came together and danced. The passion embedded in the song they sang only made you feel more alone, the walls of the Grand Bazaar growing taller and taller as you gazed upon them in longing.
You felt a hand on your shoulder, a man you don’t remember meeting. “Excuse me, miss, could I trouble you with a dance?” He looked about your age, a nice smile and an energetic demeanor. You were cautious of his intentions, though. It’s possible to have fun while maintaining a distance, right?
You accepted his invitation, all of the sudden you felt a sick knot in your stomach, like you were cheating on Alhaitham. But you weren’t together anymore, why would you stop yourself from meeting new people?
The man said his name was Hafan, a mercenary from the Corps of Thirty. He offered to buy you a drink once the dance was over, and again, you gladly accepted while the sweat in your palms said otherwise. You talked with every step you took, getting to know each other and telling stories. He made you laugh—a lot—and you impressed him with your witty comebacks. Perhaps this was the Dendro Archon’s response to your prayer? A hand to guide you through the maze, and to help you believe in love again?
But just amidst the merry atmosphere of the festival, a lingering anxiousness settled within your stomach.
Then, you saw him.
Alhaitham stood in the corner of the room, the desperate merchants and harmonizing of the band seemed to die down as time stood still. The vibrant colors faded into shades of grey as your heart clenched with a mixture of dread and longing.
It was as if a gate had opened within you, unleashing a torrent of emotions you had struggled to contain. Guilt gnawed at your conscience, regret tore your chest open, and love gave your heart to him.
As Hafan twirled you gracefully across the makeshift floor, you held your gaze with Alhaitham, your heart torn between the past and the present, between what was and what could’ve been.
Maybe you had been thinking too rashly, maybe he had changed over the course of your absence. The way he looked at you with such burning could not make you think otherwise.
In that moment, with all the crowds in the festival and the ache of your fractured heart, you knew for certain—no matter how hard you deny it, no matter how fast you tried to run, you could never escape the grasp he had on your soul.
The dance had ended, though it felt like it just started. Before Hafan could get that drink he promised, you said, “I’m sorry, Hafan.” He looked at you in confusion. “You must be looking for someone to—I don’t know—spend the rest of the festival with, and I don’t think I can fulfill that position. You’re a sweet guy, truly, I’m just not in a good place for anything right now.” Archons, you sounded ridiculous. But to your suprise, the man hardly took it personally.
“It’s okay, I get it. I had fun with you tonight, Y/N. You’re a great person to be around.” You almost regret having to end your time with him. “I’ll see you around, yeah?” He gave you a nod of farewell and left your side.
You looked in the direction of Alhaitham, again, hoping to catch that feeling of familiarity, but you had found he was no longer there. Perhaps it was your imagination.
You then searched for Collei and Kaveh, but they were nowhere to be found. They weren’t near the stalls, or in front of the stage.
They were nowhere in the bazaar.
The panic you felt shook your entire foundation, the pillars that kept you from going back home, back to the pain.
What if they had been kidnapped? You trusted Kaveh’s words, that he would take care of her, but for all you know they could be in the middle of the desert right now! What if Kaveh had run into a client and got distracted? What if Collei got injured or hospitalized?
Your heart began beating in your ears, your breath hastened with every thump. The air seemed so thin in the enclosed space, you needed to go outside. Yes, perhaps you could have a better chance at finding them out there, too.
As you walked out the doors of the Grand Bazaar, Collei’s name immediately echoed through the night. “Collei!” After numerous calls left with no answers, lumps of tears began crawling down your cheeks. “Oh my archon,” you sobbed. You could imagine the look on Tighnari’s face, the worry, the anger, the disappointment.
The feeling of losing them was clawing to your soul, like a mother bird losing her chick after their first flight. If they go missing, it was your fault. That fact will forever stain your soul, haunting your remaining days until the sweet release of death.
You sat on a curb, just near the entrance of the bazaar in hopes that the little girl and the architect would return unharmed. More tears had revealed themselves as your thoughts grew more and more intense, terrorizing, even.
The streets were so quiet, only the music from the festival and the first chirps of the crickets seemed to fill your ears, your sobs excluded. No guards or matras were present with you. Who the hell was in charge of security here!? The starry sky brought a comfortable cold instead of blazing heat.
You then heard footsteps from the bazaar and a person sitting beside you. “I walked them home,” a gruff voice sounded, “Collei was getting tired.”
Just your luck, the man who sat with you was no other than Alhaitham. Despite the conflicting emotions that came to you in a flash, you were relieved that Collei was safe. You let out a heavy breath. “Thank you,” you sniff, brushing away the tears that stained your face.
It was quiet again, for a while. You could hear Nilou’s music from outside; “Collei would’ve loved seeing Nilou dance,” you thought aloud. “I remember her basking about it when she had just became Tighnari’s pupil.” Suddenly, you felt calmer, safer now that the eerie silence accompanied you with the presence of the man you knew as well as breathing.
Alhaitham couldn’t say anything, busying himself gazing upon your eyes and your weakly pulled smile. There was still sadness lingering within them, covered by a coating of relief. He felt remorse for taking Collei away from you, for making you worry like this, for leaving you in the dark for a long, long time. Nonetheless, he was happy it led to you talking to him again. He was almost certain this day would never come.
Then he is reminded of you dancing with another man. His heart pounded erratically against his chest, each beat echoing the tumultuous storm of emotions raging within him. He had come to the festival in search of hope and redemption, a fleeting reprieve from the pain that chewed up his soul. But instead, he had found more heartache, contrary to the plan.
As he watched you twirl and sway with the man’s hand in yours, he felt as though the world tilted off its axis, leaving him teetering on the precipice of anguish. How could you be dancing so freely with another when every fiber of his being yearned to hold you so close, to feel the warmth you gave him once more?
His hands clenched into fists against his knees, his jaw tightened with unexpressed emotion. He remembered how badly he wanted to look away, but the flow of your hair and how gracefully you moved wouldn’t let him, it was as if you had casted a spell upon him, forever tormenting him to stay on the sidelines, to repress the overwhelming desire to be the one twirling you around and making you smile.
A surge of conflicting emotions washed over him—a searing pang of jealousy intertwined with a profound sense of regret and longing. Then just when he was ready to cross the bridge that separated you, he felt a small tug on his darkened cape. “Mr. Scribe Alhaitham,” Collei said meekly, sheepishly rubbing her eyes, “Did the plan work?”
He remembers Kaveh’s words, so filled with determination, She’ll do anything for Collei, so if she asks to go to the festival, Y/N will for sure accompany her! Once the slow dance starts, that’s when you’ll swoop in and declare your love.
And if it doesn’t work?, the scribe raised his eyebrows.
It will! I’ll make sure no one gets near her.
Boy, did that plan go to shit.
He gave the little girl a soft smile despite the mind-numbing pain in his chest. He knelt down to her level, “Isn’t Kaveh supposed to be with you?”
“Someone was talking to him just a while ago. It seemed pretty heated, so I slipped away when I got the chance,” she yawned.
“Of course,” Alhaitham muttered. Must be a client of his. “You look tired, Collei.”
“I think I’m ready to go home now, Mr. Alhaitham.” The drowsiness in her eyes could barely hold her awake. It was getting late, she must not be used to staying up at times like these.
Alhaitham looked back at you, wondering if you were still keeping your eyes on him. To no avail, it was like you had vanished like a ghost with the beautiful, painful sight he had witnessed along with you. A heavy feeling lingered in his chest, leaving him to wonder if you would lock your gaze with him again. Then he left, accompanying Collei back to her and Tighnari’s cottage.
On his way back to the bazaar for reasons unknown, he found you weeping in your hands, curled up like a shriveled bug beaten down, calling out Collei’s name. After he assured you of the little girl’s safety, you began talking about your experiences with her. Ever so glad, he listened to your voice, melodious and soothing like a lullaby to put him to sleep. The euphoria he experienced was one like no other, it was the first time he felt at peace for eons against the stars and the cool breeze. Then, he wondered, were you feeling the same?
“They found a new Grand Sage,” he announced.
“Is that why you have the time now?” Your words stung his morality, picking on the weak scabs of his mistakes.
He took a moment to respond. “I’m sorry,” he said softly, his voice barely above a whisper. “I never meant for any of this to happen.”
Unable to meet his gaze, you managed a casual tone, “I know, Alhaitham.” His name sounded like a song whenever it came from your lips. “Besides, it’s not your fault.” Your voice was then hoarse of emotion, fingers picking at the dirt beneath you. “I shouldn’t have let myself to get lost in my own thoughts.”
“But I should’ve been there for you,” Alhaitham insisted. “I should not have made you feel like you were alone.”
“But it happened anyway.”
For a moment, silence enveloped the space between you, only broken by the distant sounds of the festival. Then, slowly, you turned to meet his gaze, in a light that had no remorse, for the first time since you told him to leave.
“I don’t know if I can forgive you,” you admitted, your voice trembling with uncertainty. “But I do know I’m willing to try.”
With this, Alhaitham took you in a warm embrace, letting out a shaky breath as he buried his face in the crook of your neck. He then held you by the shoulders, teary as you released him from this torture. “I’ll do whatever it takes to make things right again.”
As you looked into his eyes, you found the sincerity in his voice, determination reflecting upon his irises. Despite everything that had happened, you couldn’t deny the hope that ignited in your stomach. Maybe, just maybe, there was still a chance to find your way back together.
You held his hands first, then traced your way to his cheeks, warm with anticipation. Then you pulled him into a kiss that was long overdue, Alhaitham almost tumbling from the force you had exerted.
As your lips meet, there is a softness, a tenderness in the way they press together, as if each touch carries the weight of a thousand whispered promises. Time seems to stand still as you both lose yourselves in the sensation, senses heightened by the intoxicating blend of warmth and desire. It's a symphony of sensations—a gentle caress, a fleeting brush of lips, a silent exchange of emotions that speaks volumes without a single word. And in that fleeting moment, you find solace, connection, and a sense of belonging in each other's embrace.
Slow as the breeze blew your hair, everything froze and only he brought the fire to relieve you of your vains. Alhaitham’s lips were soft and cold, clearly waiting for this day to come. When he leaned back for air, foreheads connected together, you breathed, “I love you.”
As you heard the crowd’s applause from a distance, as if cheering for your reconciling, he replied, “I love you more,” before pulling you in for another well-deserved kiss.
—the end.—

how is our hot tutor coming along? i know u said ur busy bestie but just so excited! maybe a sneak peek?
OUR HOT TUTOR 🤭 Well he's definitely coming along. I think I'm nearly 8k words into part 2 and it's nearly nearly done! But I'm about to come to a stopping point with writing today (there's dishes to do and a man and a dog to feed 🙄) so I'm still holding out hope it'll be ready for y'all tomorrow since I'm so close. I just need to finish it off and write what's in my head. Sometimes it take a bit to sort out the chaos that's up there lol!
But I'll offer you this small sneaky! Something to tide you over 👀 ENJOY!! (not proofread)
Context: Y/n is at a house party
. . .
You turned to make your way to the kitchen for a refill when you saw something that made your heart drop and your stomach bubble in gross shock. It was Harry Styles dancing slowly behind some cute girl, his arms wrapped around her front, leaning down to her shorter height and he was kissing the side of her neck.
Your Harry. The one who had you all gooey and giddy after that “session”. The one who kissed your neck not that long ago. You wished he was dancing behind you like that. You wished you hadn’t been so sensitive and that you could throw caution to the wind and not care that he was sleeping with others. You wished you could have just given in that night at the bar and gone back to his… But you said no to him. And now here he was with someone else.
You gulped and turned to go to the bathroom instead, Gunther still eyeing you up from the spot where you’d left him.
You stayed in the bathroom for a bit. Not wanting to go out and see Harry and the cute brunette dancing. You knew she was in for a treat later on. But that should have been you. Pouting at yourself in the mirror you felt ridiculous. You knew what it was with Harry. That he was a free and single man and could do as he pleased. You really had no right to feel upset over what you’d seen. He’d done nothing wrong.
Dumping out the last bit of your drink in the sink you figured maybe it was just time to leave. You didn’t want to have to deal with Gunther nor did you feel like seeing Harry all over someone else. Perhaps tonight was just not going to be your night.
As you opened the bathroom door a figure stood in the way and your immediate thought was that Gunther had followed you but as you trailed your eyes upward it was clear the man was taller and you didn’t miss the nail polish on his fingers when he gripped the door. Everything stopped. The music, the air around your body, your heart…
“Y/n…” That deep voice spoke your name like it belonged on his tongue.
You looked up at him, removing your hand from the doorknob, and gave him a confused smile, “Hi Harry. What are you doing?”
He seemed off. Not drunk but maybe not quite sober either? You weren’t sure what to make of his behavior as he pulled the door open and stepped into the bathroom, closing it behind himself.
“I don’t know what I’m doing,” he stepped in toward you, your bottom hitting the edge of the porcelain sink, “Nothing makes sense lately. Just want to go back to how things were but I can’t. S’like I’ve got some kind of block. Something’s missing…”

Home for The Holidays | Oneshot
Tumblr media
Rating: Explicit
Pairing: Luke Skywalker x reader
Word Count: 4268
Summary: Upon bringing you back home with him and his family for the holidays, Luke realises that he misses having you all to himself.
A/N: Merry Christmas! Decided to do something for ~slutmas~, and I do hope you enjoy! The editing isn't as heavy with this one, but I really like how it turned out.
Coming home for the holidays is perhaps the best part of college, now able to relax with family and the perfect aesthetic of the christmas season as school is but a small worry in the back of one's mind; meant to be ignored and dealt with at a later time when the tidings end with the 25th.
Luke had brought you home with him to spend this Christmas with his family, all of whom were perfectly amiable and so very welcoming towards you. A response any partner is lucky to receive.
Your friend Han had tagged along too, being Leia’s guest as well. It made for quite the amusing holiday season, for Han was by no means the favourite of the Skywalker patriarch. Anakin, their father, gave him a hard time even for the simple act of breathing; nevertheless, Han made a great effort to impress the man that he hoped would become his father-in-law in the near-ish future.
You got off lucky, more than Han, at least. Anakin was a very protective father, weary of the partners of BOTH his kids. He made that quite clear the first time he had met you, but your advantage was in the fact that you made a far better first impression than Han ever did.
…That particular incident of Han’s misfortunes gets passed around quite a bit, as often as Anakin can mention it at least. No mere words could truly explain the extent to which this first meeting had gone so poorly, for you simply had to be there; all that shall be said is Han offended his mother, broke two chairs, and almost caused the death of the beloved family dog, Artoo, in less than ten minutes.
Furthermore, you found yourself to be having a wonderful time, perfectly fit for the season. Padme was generous with each of you, making sure that you felt welcomed and loved by the family. You baked cookies with her, helped with the tree (the whole family did, really, but you did almost pull a muscle collecting the boxes of ornaments from the basement), and she even took you around town to enjoy the beautiful Christmas lights as you bonded.
You adored how much she loved both her children, always gushing about her son to you, or showing you terribly embarrassing photos of Luke. Anakin was certainly rough around the edges on the other hand, but you too adored how much he cared about his kids just the same, the only difference being the intensity of it. Yet, despite this you had your moments with the father as well; and at one point had even made him laugh, which is quite the win in your book.
Luke was ecstatic that things, for the most part, were going so great. He absolutely adored and cherished how his family took to you, treating you like one of their own as you fit right in. He hoped many more christmas’ and other such holidays like this were to come, with you by his side each and every time.
He found himself unable to look away every time you smiled, or laughed at one of his dad’s terrible jokes. He was wholeheartedly in love with you, not at all regretting his bringing you home with him for even one second. This was, in all honesty, the perfect christmas- he had you to thank for making it all the more merry.
He got you under the mistletoe any chance he could, watching your cheeks deepen their rosy tint as you got utterly and completely flustered, especially when a member of his family was close by.
And when you were helping bake some holiday goods, he always “innocently” made sure to come up from behind you, rubbing against you as he pushed by. At first, it had been a mere accident on his part, but you suspected that it no longer could be when he kept doing it over and over again, leaving you able to feel him growing hard as you put on a poker face. He always came up with little excuses, such as how he forgot a cookie cutter, or needed a glass of water despite the fact that he never actually got one- it made your cheeks ridiculously rosy, constantly blushing every time you felt him against you as his mother asked if you were feeling feverish…
Oh, you were feeling something, but not the kind of feelings you could confide in her about. Ahem. Just imagine what Anakin would think of all the things you wish to do to his son…actually, dont.
He was getting more handsy as the days went by, forgetting that his family is constantly around the corner. He didn't even think about it at times, only driven by the need to touch and hold you close without considering the consequences.
The cons of staying with his family had begun to bother him, never really getting a moment alone with you as of late. As Anakin didn’t like Han, you weren’t even allowed to sleep in the same room- he had to bunk with Han, and you with Leia.
None of you were exactly fond of this, and even Padme fought against it before the horrors of pregnancy and a stagnant college career was planted in her mind. She very much wanted her children to be successful, therefore that was enough to cause her to agree with her husband.
…okay, there's also the fact that she could understand the uh, the needs her children had…but as long as you’re safe, then for the love of everything keep it out of her house- that was also something she needed to be respected, but would never say when her husband is close by. He just didn't want it. Period. He would rather strangle himself with the tinsel than have such a conversation.
Poor Luke was aching to touch you, missing the privacy you had in a dorm room this past week. He found himself constantly having to hide how hard he was, his pants getting tight every time he even so much as looked at you. It was embarrassing, always sitting with a pillow in his lap when you all huddled together to watch a Christmas classic.
It's just the way he was; easily turned on (By you, specifically- he was head over heels for you, truth be told), and terribly needy for your attention and delicate touch. He had to stop himself from dropping to his knees and begging for you to touch him as he usually would when he got aroused, this not being the time nor the place for that.
You observed how flustered he got himself, how bad he was fighting away the thoughts…and perhaps it was mean, but you couldn’t help but tease him just a little for it.
It started with brushing a hand against his bulge, or hungrily making out with him in the car before abruptly pulling away as he whined and tried to pull you back into his lap, or kissing his neck in a quiet hallway; which, for the record, you knew quite well would set him off like crazy. Your lips on his throat could have his knees buckling any second, hell- the mere scent of your perfume had him locking himself in a bathroom to stroke the desires away, silencing the noises he couldn’t help but make when he thought of you.
The poor boy was just burning up because of you, so close to fucking you on the family dining table no matter who walked in- okay, i mean…he cared a little about that, but still. Point is that he is so terribly desperate, to the point his brain is heavily fogged and clouded with images of you at all times, images where you adorn the prettiest lingerie as your fingertips trace along his skin, exciting him immensely as he bucks his hips into you…
That's why when he heard the family was going out for some snowmen building competitions, he made damn sure to fool his family into thinking that he was sick, and insisting that you go to the pharmacy and come back whilst his family went without you two.
You genuinely thought he was ill, therefore thought not much of it. Padme was, of course, concerned but relented after Luke argued he didn’t need his mommy to take care of him constantly and that she deserved to go enjoy herself. She laughed, going along with it as she hugged him goodbye.
Han, on the other hand, shot him a look of envy yet said nothing more. He only cared about impressing Anakin, therefore thankfully kept his mouth shut. At this point, there was no room for acting like a little shit- this was, in their horny minds, a time of war. They stood in solidarity with one another.
As soon as you got back and walked through the door, he pounced on you once you’d rid yourself of your winter layers. He pressed you hard against the wall, lips on yours and tongue locked with your own as you let out an involuntary moan at the surprise sensations. The vibrations of your aroused moans were enough to make his erection almost painful.
His grip on you was firm, hands slipping beneath the fabric of your shirt and feeling every inch of your flesh as he so ravenously felt you beneath his finger tips. You were like his perfect little paradise, providing everything he could ever need and love.
“Luke…luke…” You breathed out, pushing back against him. “You-youre…sick.”
He shook his head, breathing just as heavy as his pupils grew like the grinch’s heart. “I lied, star, I lied, okay? Please, please I need you so bad- will you let me, please?”
Oh, his begging was all you needed to hear. He pleads to have you melted your heart, and you just wanted to wrap him up with a pretty red bow like the cutest christmas present one could ask for. You felt your lips curve into a smile as you nodded, giving him the very answer he desired as you violently tugged you upstairs and to his childhood bedroom.
He couldn't wait a second longer as he shut the door behind himself, violently slamming shut as he immediately began to unbuckle his belt, letting his pants drop to the floor as he tugged his christmas sweater over his head, messing with the golden brown locks on his head. You loved how he had seemed so pristine one moment with his hair neat and brushed back, to messy and ravenous the very next.
His hands were on you without you getting a second more to undress yourself, almost ripping your blouse from your body as he then pushed you onto his bed, allowing giggles to slip from between your lips as he tugged the pants off from your legs.
There was so much he wanted to do to you, but so little time, it was almost unfair. He couldn’t spend all the time in the world admiring you as he usually would, needing to be quick with you instead- he loved to kiss every inch of your flesh, playing with your breasts and eating you out for hours before he could even think of being inside of you.
Shivers ran throughout your skin as you gazed at him, watching as his eyes were glossed with love and lust as he looked over you, noticing how your bra and panties matched; a bright red bow on the front of your panties that made him feel like he was about to unwrap the best christmas present ever received by man. He could feel himself throbbing, craving nothing more than to be inside you while you moan for him.
Yet you had other plans, immediately sitting up and tugging at the waistband of his boxers. You couldn’t take the sight of him like this much longer, knowing how bad he needed to be touched. His eyes said it all, and the way his mouth hung open when he looked at you. “Did I do this to you? Oh Luke…let me make it better, hm?”
“Please…” It was as if that was all he could say, all he knew as he begged and begged again. His lips were in a perfect pout, and you would have kissed them if it wasn’t for the idea of placing them somewhere more useful.
He wanted to treat you, but the feeling of you tugging the fabric that felt so tight against his cock broke him completely. He felt like a mess, and he certainly was; but a beautiful one in your eyes.
In a second his boxers were wrapped around his ankles as your hand came to grip the base of his cock, hard and ready for you as precum leaked from the rosy tip. He was sure he might just cum right there, already letting out a strangled hum of a moan the moment you touched him.
You gave him a few pumps, nice and slow as you felt the pulsing of his veins against your palm, every inch of him begging for more. You thus ran up and along to caress his tip, a whimper falling from his lips as he pouted all over again. He was so sweet, sweet and pretty as he surrendered to you.
“-Need your mouth, oh star…please. It feels so good…” His voice was shaky, needing you more than anything right now. You couldn’t believe the state that had overcome him in only a week of being denied you.
You adored how he begged for you like this, feeling so wanted and as if you held so much power over him all at once. You could feel the arousal pooling in your panties as you listened to the noises he revealed all because of you.
You licked a stripe up his length before you pressed your lips to the tip, placing a gentle kiss as he shivered under your touch. You couldn’t just let him wait any longer when he needed you so badly, feeling terrible for torturing him in a season so full of love and giving.
You wrapped your lips around his head, pursing your lips to gently suck the sensitive pink head as he whimpered, fighting off the urge to thrust into your perfect mouth. Your eyes met his own as your lashes framed them so beautifully, and he thought you to appear so delicate as you pleased him like this.
As you took more of him into the velvety warmth of your wet mouth, caressing the length of his cock with your tongue and suctioning your cheeks to suck him off better as you gave a light bop of your head, he was already so very close to drifting off into ecstasy. Every stroke of your tongue had him moaning your name, craving more as his hands slipped into your hair and began to grip either side of your head, carefully guiding you to take him further until tears brimmed your eyes due to his head thrusting against the back of your throat; his mouth hung open as unintelligible noises symphonized from within him, unravelling into a true mess of a man.
He had no time to warn you as the waves of pleasure were released upon him, causing his legs to shake rather violently as he came in your mouth. Fortunately, you already found yourself quite familiar with the telltale signs, having felt the coming of his orgasm as you happily swallowed what he gave you. You took great pride in making him feel so good, such raw pleasure- you enjoyed when he lost himself in it just a little, his grip becoming firmer in time as a desire for more was spoken through moans, knowing it was okay to do so with you.
He was panting as you pulled back, his cock still hard with arousal and need as you looked up at him with the sweetest glossy eyes. You were highly aroused yourself, almost considering grinding into the mattress beneath you as you watched him calm down from the high you’d caused. He thus dropped down next to you at the edge of the bed, looking at you with nothing but love and affection, a hand on your cheek. “I’m- i’m sorry…I didn’t…didn’t mean to do that so soon.”
You placed a hand on his thigh, caressing it as he sighed so heavenly. “Don’t be sorry when you know I like making you feel good too.”
“C’mere…” He murmured, placing his fingers upon your chin as he guided you towards him, pulling you onto his lap as you gave a light gasp at the surprise of it.
He pressed a kiss to your lips that was so sweet and perfectly gentle for the few moments in which it lasted, still breathless as he so suddenly turned the two of you around in order for you to be on your back beneath him and he above you. He grinded himself against your dripping cunt, causing you to moan aloud as his pupils grew again. “Need to be inside you, pretty star…will you let me fuck you?”
The request itself melted you into a little muddle, nodding aggressively to encourage him as a smile tugged at your lips. “I’ve wanted that since we got here.”
You both chuckled, faces pink with lust as he stopped himself from ripping your panties off, instead tracing a finger over the rim in adoration before gently prying them off your legs. It felt like he was unwrapping a perfect present, just as he suspected. He noticed how wet they were, the slick of your arousal dripping from between your thighs as he removed them.
He lined himself up between your legs, caressing your waist as he did so. He slid his tip through your slit, rubbing up against your cit as you found yourself to be the one whining this time, wanting more of him- needing more.
It wasn’t solely Luke who had been desperate. Both of you had deeply yearned for each other, already quite unable to keep your hands off of each other for more than a day as it is- and even that is impressive.
Neither one of you had time for teasing, that being quite clear as his head penetrated your entrance, causing both of you to moan in unison as he buried himself inside of you after having dreamt of it for what felt like so terribly long. His cock dragged along your walls as he drifted further inside you with ease due to the pool of arousal that he’d been the reason for.
A great fog clouded your mind as he was finally buried as far as he could go, filling you to the brim as he took this moment to relax and catch up to his very much needed breaths. He was so wound up from the past week, so eager to please both you and himself that he forgot he needed to breathe too.
You gripped the toned muscles of his upper arms, keeping him close as you pulled him flush against you. Him now acting almost as a weighted blanket. “Stay like this for a minute for me, if that's okay.”
“Yeah, yeah…” He nodded, pressing a sweet kiss to your neck as you enjoyed the feeling of him inside of you, a feeling you had missed. He could barely speak when he was revelling in the feeling of you squeezing his cock.
“I love your family but…maker…it's so hard.” As you confessed, it did not take much time for you to realise how that sounded, beginning to giggle as he did just the same.
“I mean-”
“I know, I know what you mean.” He had the cutest grin on his face as he lifted himself up just enough to press another kiss to the tip of your nose, resting his arm next to your head as he swiped a piece of hair away from your face. “I missed having you all to myself.”
He felt you clench around him as he spoke such words, holding back a grunt as he was reminded of the effect he has on you when he's being so sweet on you. “Then fuck me before they get home, hm?”
That was your signal for him to pry himself off of your chest, of which he did quite swiftly as his hands flew to your waist, holding you down firmly with care. He began to pull out, feeling the warmth of your walls around him as he pushed himself back, starting slow and steady before warming up to more.
Immediately did you throw your head back against the mattress, a muffled moan struggling to sneak past your lips as your brows furrowed together. He never took his eyes off of your face, enjoying how he affected you with just one thrust inside your cunt. You were too deprived to be less affected.
It's funny how he was supposed to be the needy one, yet here you are, impaled on his cock as desire fills your head.
Although, it does indeed affect him just as much. His previous pleads with you for pleasure are now happily satisfied by more moans of his own as his cock drifts in and out of your pussy, picking up the pace with every thrust he takes each one faster than the last. Soon enough, he finds himself snapping his hips into your own, his thighs beginning to shake as he tries his best not to cum yet; his lips are in a pout as he finds himself whimpering all over again, denying himself to make sure you get to cum before him.
You're writhing beneath him, the head of his cock pounding into you at the perfect angle as his name passes your lips over and over again. You can feel the heat build within you as your walls clench around him, looking up to catch a glimpse of him when your eyes capture him mid moan, his lips quivering and all.
“C-cum with me, honey…” You bring a hand to his face, pulling him down towards you as you connect with his lips. The kiss is sloppy and open mouthed as he nods, each of you erupting with sounds of pleasure as the floodgates of ecstasy begin to unleash itself.
At once, do your orgasms hit in unison, feeling his cum fill you up in strings as the warmth coats itself inside you. Your lips meet his neck as he lurches upwards on account of his release, still pounding his cock into you until the waves come to a calm halt.
You wrap your arms around him as he collapses over you, panting as one after such a climax. It takes a moment for either one of you to say anything, for you find yourselves content with the comforting silence, your breaths the only thing to be heard at this moment in time.
You love these moments, the intimacy together; whether that be before, after, or during. You like to listen to the change of his breaths, wondering what he may be thinking as he calms himself down from the high each of you were just on.
And he likes to do just the same, of course. He could never have this with anyone else, nothing so special as what he has with you, and those breaths of which stem from a session of love making remind him of how absolutely lucky he is to have found you.
Finally, when you do eventually speak, it's to make a joke as your hot breath hits his flesh. “One hell of a christmas present.”
He snorts, feeling his lips curve against the flesh of your neck as you say it. He only then stands up, pulling out of you as his release leaks out of you and onto the fabric of the bed. With that, he pulls you up and into his arms and onto your feet before him, holding your chin with his fingertips. “You’re already mine.”
You blush, shaking your head as you attempt to hide in his chest. Of course, only Luke could make things romantic when you have his cum dripping down your legs.
You thus chuckle a moment later, finding peace in a moment such as this once again, despite the fact that your legs may give out any second now. You pull yourself back to look at him, taking his hands in your own as you press a gentle and warm kiss to his knuckles. “I love you, Luke. Your family, just…everything.”
“I love you too.” He says back, your words remaining in the back of his mind as he pictures you as a permanent member to the Skywalker clan. “Now come on, we should get cleaned up before my parents come back- i’ll never hear the end of it if they, you know…”
You hold back from commenting on how such a sight would cause Anakin to replace all the presents with coal, knowing it would cause Luke to cringe at the very thought.
Once each of you are showered and dressed, now safely wrapped within blankets in each other's arms with hot cocoa and a steady fire, you truly do think it to be one of the best christmas’ you've ever had.
You kiss his cheek, causing him to erupt with butterflies in the same way he did when you each had your first kiss. “Merry Christmas, Luke.”
“Merry Christmas, starlight.”

Anyhow, I want people to understand the significance of me crying over TOH ending because. I generally do not cry. It’s hard for me to cry, I feel sadness and grief sure! But tears themselves are difficult. And as much as I love media, it’s very rare and hard for it to make me genuinely cry. Other cartoons and shows I’ve gotten into haven’t done it, but...
The Owl House genuinely made me cry. After the grief of Agony of a Witch, the lonely despair of King’s Tide, and so many other painful moments. The Owl House finally made me sob, genuinely, wails I had to cover up, hot tears, sore eyes and a dripping nose. I heaved and made myself cry even more, because goddamn is there such a relief in the catharsis of feeling this pain, and knowing it means you’ve felt something, you’ve felt happiness to begin with.
So yeah. The Owl House has always been pretty special to me. But I think this expression of how I felt was low key what I was waiting for, working towards, after the finale. The absence hurts, but it makes me appreciate all the more the presence it entails for TOH in my life. For the community, for the experiences, the analyses, the genuine fun and laughter and speculation! The hype and friends I’ve made along the way, me building up my own skills as a reader thanks to this show!
I remember being enamored by The Owl House’s first announcement in February 2018, the first ever, possible public reveal of that show; You could’ve only known it beforehand if you worked at Disney and/or were one of Dana’s friends. Something about Luz, about Eda, about King... The very premise itself, the magic. Something about this show felt special to me, I had a really good feeling about it I couldn’t explain.
I ended up checking Dana’s Twitter obsessively for updates, was excited when she posted this one art of Luz and King having an ice cream run, while Eda was displeased with a little demon trying to get her dessert. I expected mostly casual things, but something about the vibes, the magic and wonder experienced through the lens of Luz... It got to me in a legitimately depressive state of my life.
Because I was depressed. Suicidal, even. It was perhaps the worst phase of my life ever, and I hope it’ll stay that way. The beginning of 2018 felt like me finally getting over the big hurdle, that enormous halfway point at the top, and how it was all relatively smooth, downhill sailing from here. So it feels fitting that it was the beginning of the easier part that TOH was announced for me. All I knew were Luz, Eda, and King; I eventually gave up checking Dana’s accounts for art, because I was SO excited and impatient for this show, inexplicably.
That’s probably why I missed Dana’s little sneak peek of Amity Blight, haha... But anyhow, TOH gave me something to look forward to. Something to live for. And when I finally got a shot of Eda throwing treats to Luz and King, the former taken aback by the eyeball, the latter having it bounce off his skull. It didn’t make it to the final cut obviously, but it was my first glimpse of how the show itself would look.
I was in despair when The Owl House was delayed to 2020; I had to wait another whole year for it! And going from 2018 to 2019 was painful enough as is! But man... Was it worth it. The first teaser, the mystery and wonder it promised. My Bionicle brain freaking out over the reveal of the Boiling Isles as a giant corpse.
And then the theme song. Me learning Luz’s VA, scouring very obscure media to get an idea of how she might sound like. And finally I heard it, we got other announcements; Eda by Wendie Malick, who made perfect sense, and King by Alex Hirsch, cue those obnoxious Bill Cipher theories I still hate to this day!
Some crew members announced cupcakes they made, complete with banners like “Drinkers Coven” and I got hyped for this little content. I wanted to try cashew meringues because of it, and later recognized the repurposed frames of Luz, Eda, and King in actual episodes. I saw some concept art and expressions removed from the show, and was glad to recognize them later, as I did a frame-in-process of Luz wondering about her magical destiny.
I checked Tumblr but it seemed like I was the only person actively anticipating, and not just including TOH as part of a larger collection of media posts. I wanted TOH for itself, someone was curious if it had owls, I scoured the first teaser for a screenshot to satisfy them! I wanted more people in on it! I saw some clips, figured out Luz’s ethnicity from her squealing “Ay que lindo!” in response to King.
I made a few ancient posts, my first TOH post was me admitting I was excited and wondering if anyone else was. It got NO traction, at least not until much, much later... But that didn’t stop me! I had a dream where Luz was revealed to be disabled, her legs were prosthetics and Eda ended up giving her new magic prosthetics styled after owl feet. This would prove weirdly prophetic... Less so, my dream about Luz being the Anti-Christ (this was framed as a good thing), hence why she found the isles.
I speculated Luz was an orphan who had nobody, hence why she found the isles; But then an article mentioned her mother Camila. I went with that spelling until some end credits confused me with a typo that gave us Camilia, which led to a big fandom debate later until Dana clarified.
I analyzed the trailers, trying to figure out the plot and trajectory, wasn’t quite right there. I was happy to see TOH would have full 22-minute episodes, allowing them to get nitty gritty and elaborated, instead of truncated into 11-minute segments. Boy did that pay off, and looking back I can appreciate what a rarity that was, an achievement. People pointed out the anagram for me...
I speculated on the titles, confused bits from Covention with scenes from the first episode, wondered if Escape of the Palisman referred to the tower. And in the end, the first episode finally came out, after I was enjoying Infinity Train Book 2, and I was enamored. It was wonderful, it utterly blew me away and was all I wanted and more. I had to get more! The moment Luz spoke of liking editing anime clips into AMVs and all that other stuff, I felt seen, and that was just the beginning.
I spoke my praises, but alas there was no fandom. The next week, I was surprised to find posts for the next episodes so early, and learned the episode was released ahead of time on DisneyNOW, so I immediately subscribed. I was excited to meet Amity Blight, Willow and Gus; And I was caught by surprise by how openly mean Amity was when she debuted! But I analyzed the sub-text of her actions and dialogue, and was vindicated.
Amity was such a fun and interesting character because she really felt like a puzzle that we unlocked more and more pieces of, to better understand her. And I really got the sense of TOH’s re-contextualization and surprising character continuity, such as when King’s B-plot in one episode actually became the focus of the very next! You could tell the writers really cared about making a deeper story for kids and teenagers.
One nice memory was when I wrote a post appreciating Willow and Luz’s friendship, the idea of Willuz as a ship; I took a shower and went back to check afterwards, and got notes! I analyzed the mechanics of glyphs deeply when they were first revealed, getting nitty-gritty; I remember the events of a few nights and what happened around me writing a post, comparing glyph magic to artificial replication of dragon breath!
I looked for crew art, which alerted me ahead of time to the existence of Emira and Edric, thought I didn’t know their names, and was delighted to learn Amity had older siblings!!! They were hers! Shoutout to @anistarrose who was one of the few people in the tag at this time. I really appreciate that post where you called out people constantly trying to make King into Bill Cipher in a serious manner, and the annoying implications of it. And how you realized a tweet poem by Dana foreshadowed Warden Wrath and the Emperor’s Coven... AND THE CODES TOO!!!
I distinctly remember this one meme video in the tags, a song singing “This girl is a lesbian” as Amity showed up as the punchline. I thought it was cute and loved the idea, I had no clue...! I even tried to analyze the dates on her diary entries because I was so obsessed with the show and wanted more, trying to see if I could figure out a calendar...
Spoiler alert, I didn’t. but it was FUN trying! Putting in all of this unnecessary effort for a detail nobody cared much for, because you could tell the crew were people who did the same, Dana even confirmed it later for herself! I remember being shocked about Eda having a curse, that one theory it was a Blight who did it. I suggested King being the Boiling Isles Titan, some Youtube channel even asked permission to use my post in discussing that theory! I was skeptical but checked and it was legit, and was pleased.
I went through that godforsaken Witch’s Apprentice game, realized too late the artifacts represented each episode and gave hints to the rest of 1A. I watched Look Hoo’s Talking, with Owlyvia and Horus, shout out to those who remember! I was amazed by Eda’s self-awareness in deciding things for Luz, especially after Luz briefly called it out in Covention. I found myself so ATTACHED to the characters, which makes sense since I hyped myself from the start!
I remember being surprised to see King wasn’t an overlord... Or was he? The original 2018 announcement suggested as such, but the way the show played around even after the premiere seemingly disproved it was fun. I speculated on what Luz’s magic track would be, enjoyed fanart of her in Potions as Eda was. Seeing Young Eda was a blast, and I remember being so distraught at the idea of her being cursed! I made a post wailing about it and Cat-Harman Mitchell commented LOL as I ranted about taking vengeance on the curser. Little did I know...!
I was afraid of a cliffhanger with Season 1A, but nope! Eda made it out despite the demon hunters! With a hiatus, I was left impatient and needing more. I scoured crew art, speculated on what Emperor Bellows would be like; Covention’s subtitles mispelled him as such, and Dana had to clarify in a tweet when 1B’s trailer released! I got into deep discussion with @fermented-writers-block about the show, about the mysterious owl mural.
I guess TOH was my first start at really analyzing a show from the start, especially since nobody else was around to do it for me. And coming fresh from reading the meta of those who did inspire me, I went HARD, reasoning that even if it was disproven, the process was fun! I analyzed snake motifs, the mysterious green hand that stole King’s crown. I made a whole diagram about parallels between Luz, between King and the Gildersnake, between ‘human counterparts’ to Amity and Willow and Gus. This definitely fed the revelation of Creepy Luz later on...
But yeah. To think the snakes did pay off with Luz’s palisman Stringbean; Back then people speculated as such with the title’s design, and I’m so happy to see it came through! I speculated on lore, wrote my first TOH fics, The Bile Coven and Amity’s Diary Entries, the latter of which I feel particular pride for since it was a character study of her that proved rather on the spot!
I was obsessed with the worldbuilding, came up with my own ideas. Imagined what Bellows and Kikimora were like. I waited IMPATIENTLY, and even had a dream where Eda was captured by Lilith, Kikimora, and Wrath, as well as some covenscouts... But then it was revealed her curse was a result of possession by the creature depicted on the mural; And it progressed to the next stage of converting her body to its own as she got more feral and escaped on her own!
The airship used by the Emperor’s Coven proved prophetic. And after 1B seemingly disproved this idea, 2A brought it back after all and I was delighted! TOH was and is a show that keeps giving for me, makes me feel rewarded for engaging with it, and is grateful even when I’m wrong, as Any Sport in a Storm’s B-plot attests. I made jokes about King being Mata Nui because I was a Bionicle fan. Someone saw a Grom poster in the background of a shot and suggested Lumity, but I didn’t get my hopes up... Hah.
There was a trailer that alluded to an episode of Luz and Eda in a snowy place; I knew of an article on TOH that mentioned a ‘Witch’s Arena’ at the Knee and guessed this was it. I liked the song that played because I associated it with TOH, found out for myself.
Rebecca Rose, shout out to one of the OGs talking about the show on Youtube! She made a wonderful video discussing Amity’s development and potential, speculating on her, and I felt SOOOO vindicated and followed her for it! As you know, she became THE fan channel for TOH, and was eventually ascended to a full-on crew member for it. We’d all watch her reactions and discussions afterwards.
Adventures in the Elements leaked, I correctly guessed it wasn’t the next episode but the one after it. I was delighted to see the twins be good siblings, and Amity’s casual outfit... Before that, I read a fic during the hiatus of Lilith adopting Amity from abuse (Remember when we thought she was that functional?), and it understandably depicted the twins as mean-spirited and basically apathetic. It was a good fic.
I remember joke-speculating that Bellows would be short, because I was projecting analyses of the Pale King from Hollow Knight onto him! I considered making an animatic of Farquaad’s reveal from Shrek but with Bellows, but alas I’d never actually done an animatic and had zero clue lol. I had another dream about Bellows coming in with the Emperor’s Coven to apprehend Eda, who became an even larger version of her Owl Beast form in response.
Then Summer 2020 came around. What a wonderful time of my life... New fans came in when they saw the possibility of canon sapphics with Lumity, and I was exhilarated! So careful not to get my hopes up, but look now... I was hyped to see Belos’ appearance. I analyzed the 1B trailer, took screenshots and organized them to guess which episodes they were. Rebecca Rose found foreign titles of 1B and translated them, and I did note how translations could skew the intended anagram. I remember “Mini-Problems” being an episode title...
You can probably guess the rest from here, since this was about when the fandom really kicked off. And boy did people stick around for it all. I felt delight in knowing Grom was sooner, due to Understanding Willow being paired with Really Small Problems on the same day! Two episodes at once, instead of the original plan for the last two episodes of the season together! I ended up regretting that low-key with the angst and pain of Agony of a Witch, which made me realize how much I cared for Luz, Eda, and King, and made me the closest to crying from the show.
I felt vindicated to see a popular artist like MoringMark begin making fan comics, I had no idea that’d be THE thing he’d be known for, after I knew him as the Gravity Falls guy. I followed Matthieu Cousin on Tumblr, got excited for that trend of dressing up TOH characters for Grom and sending in your designs, with a winner announced! I don’t think that ever happened. Anamanaguchi’s Prom Night became a thing thanks to a crew member, and who can forget Little Miss Perfect? Kwame rolled with the success and I was glad for him. Eda’s gray eye appearing after the season finale in the end credits shocked me.
There was the Reddit AMA, where I prepared lore questions afterwards and had none of mine answered, but we learned a good deal! Especially the telling “Clawthornes are a bird motif” from Dana, her being put into a headlock by a nun. Amity and Lilith weren’t close but as I mentioned a while back, Dana expressed that she also made connections with cartoons as a kid. Odalia liking her kids color-coded, hence Amity’s hair, and Alador being interesting. Which led to a bunch of fanart that proved off the mark but also not? Alador wasn’t THAT well-put but otherwise...
And that stream! That wonderful stream! I contemplated spending so much money via donation to get something. Eda drinking Apple Blood, Spencer Wan almost spoiling Lilith having a Raven form. Our first sneak peek at Hunter’s face, not counting his appearance as the Golden Guard in S1; We all guessed he and the Golden Guard, or “Owl Mask” were the same. I was stumped and baffled how he fit into Belos’ dynamic... Hoo boy. And we all thought Hunter was an adult, even Alador at first, because of those eye bags!
I wanted to see the coven heads, based on their banners we saw; I liked the Potion Head especially and even when his design proved different than I expected, it was still my favorite! I thought Darius might be a Blight grandfather and he DID have a connection... I had a dream of the twins working for Osran at a library and messing with him, recognized Mason from Covention, and dreamed Terra was named Botanica.
Christmas art of the cast came out, I was happy to see Emira and Edric happy there, after being saddened by Dana’s Grom art of them and even writing a whole fic about it, which I’m chuffed about! She also drew Mattholomule... I recall in the wait for Season 1B, she did some art of the characters. Gus playing games, Mattholomule losing to him; King despairing over stubby thumbs.
Fanart of the kids in quarantine, Amity declaring it’d be easy to stay away from Luz, to Luz’s sadness; Boscha being mad because she couldn’t talk to her friends. Remember when Boschlow was a big thing, until Understanding Willow killed off some of the hype? And confirmation that Willow worked out, which we saw come to fruition in Season 2; People were surprised but I wasn’t! And of course, Frewin being his own entity from Bump, and not Bump himself.
But back to chronology, I guess this is where I should end off. Sorry, this ended up being MUCH longer than I intended, and really you could write a book about my experience with TOH and the journey on a meta level. But those were interesting times, those beginning eras. Back when I didn’t feel the need to always add screenshots to posts unless necessary. And it’s making me nostalgic. It’s making me appreciate everything we’ve been through, the roots of my hyperfixation. And how it all led to me finally crying, because I really did build up THAT much of a love for the show.
I found my first fandom I really felt a part of, found so many people who enjoyed my meta and validated me for it! I feel I’ve grown so much as a person because of TOH. And as I nostalgically reminisce on how different the show was then, I appreciate all the more how far we’ve come, and what it is now. Snapping back to the present does make me sad over how much has passed and changed, but I also appreciate it while remembering the ideas I once had.
I’ll miss that era, and TOH as a whole. And boy do I associate that classic ending theme, how I loved the melancholy of those end credits, speculated on them paying off in the finale. And they did...! It feels good to hear it one last time after a year without it, due to the end credits being removed or redone. There was something so idyllic and dreamlike about that original sequence, capturing the feeling of coming home, and I’m glad TOH did that once more with it.

Intermission II Time Skip
Just a time skip. The next events are either too varied or too boring to make proper chapters out of.
CW: Foul language (one curse word)
Tumblr media
• The meeting of the archons and the goddess began, and just as Zhongli had predicted, Ei was eating it up about your awakened power.
• A short break was called so that Nahida could verify a few things, and just as Xiao said, you held no memories from before your return.
• The news soured everyone's mood, but they were still ecstatic to have you back. For the time being, you are to be treated as a normal human to avoid drawing unwanted attention in your weakened state.
• Venti has taken to checking on you every now and again, just barely avoiding being caught by the more adept heroes, only escaping thanks to his control over wind.
• Nahida uses Irminsul to check on you every day. She knows you have memories of when you took vessels, you wouldn't know half the things you do otherwise. She hopes that your fragmented memories will return on their own.
• The Tsaritsa tells all of her harbingers of the situation and also informs them that this is to remain a secret.
• Meanwhile, in Askr. The kingdom's head of finances and Ningguang come to an agreeable exchange rate using the cost of crops as the calculation base.
• After the contracts were written up, reviewed, and signed, trade became very common between the two nations, crops especially as the two worlds had plants that the other found quite interesting. For example, I have yet to hear anyone in Teyvat mention strawberries, and the herbalists of Askr were quite curious about mist flowers and flaming flowers.
• Ningguang sent a copy of the contract to the other 6 nations. When sending one to Snezhnaya, she wasn't hopeful given her previous experience with the fatui, but to her surprise, it was sent back signed within a matter of days, not months, not weeks, days, well without time for travel taken into account of course. Apparently, with the knowledge the Tsaritsa gave them, the moment the fatui saw the word Askr, they didn't need to reread the thing, it was signed copied and sent back for confirmation before the messenger had time to breathe.
• After a few months, the other contracts returned signed as well, and Askr citizens and OoH (Order of Heroes) members could now visit Teyvat freely and without financial concerns.
• You had dress codes for heroes visiting Teyvat. For example, Camilla and Charlotte, I think that's all I need to say for those two. You also go over a brief history of each nation and their laws so you can at least hope these heroes can avoid jail time.
• Every visitor you get from Teyvat receives a fair warning about the heroes' clothing and personalities, from the traumatized Bernadetta to the more "eccentric" heroes. I swear some of these people are psychotic, and they're the good guys in their worlds.
• The first to visit are the scholars of Teyvat, as they wish to study the lands unique magical essence. Faruzan also visits, as an instructor in the Hravatat darshan, she'd be remiss to not take this opportunity to act as a bridge between two worlds, in other words she wants to teach the order how to read Teyvat's language.
• Tartaglia is a regular visitor at this point, after hearing that literal gods were a part of your army, you think he's not going to want to go mano a drago with them. He doesn't do so well, it doesn't matter how fast he is if his weapon can't even dent their scales, but he's still happy as he knows even defeat can be enlightening, as long as he lives to learn from it. However, if he ever sees you training, he is quick to stand on the sidelines. It looks like you're losing at first, as you were on the defensive, but the tide of battle changed in an instant and it was abundantly clear that you were analyzing your opponents as they couldn't even touch you afterwards, man, beast, it didn't matter, your mind was sharp as nails, but it was clear that your body still wasn't used to the strain, as even with this advantage, the only fights you won were the ones you ended in that moment.
• Zhongli visited as well, curious about the divine weapon you held. He was intrigued, but not surprised, to learn that the contract linked to that weapon was the same contract you would offer them, they recieve strength and you receive their aid.
• You visited Mondstadt with Alfonse, Sharena, and Anna, where you were basically harassed by Venti bombarding you with questions, which you thought were for inspiration for a new song, which wasn't an incorrect assumption, but some of these questions were also stuff like your favorite element or food or if you drank alcohol, as he offers you a whole bottle of dandelion wine. What he uses for inspiration is stuff like a current topic of interest or stories of the other worlds.
• The two water singers, Barbara and Azura, also meet. When Azura performs her usual song, Barbara is amazed by the blue haired woman's power of water and practically begs her to teach her some of those moves to really make a splash at her next performance, or better yet, they can do a duet, if Azura is okay with that of course.
• When visiting far-off nations, the Askrans and heroes are often the center of attention due to their mode of transportation, horse, pegasi, or wyvern. The people of Mondstadt were terrified when Camilla came in on her wyvern's back, but of course, Klee came up to him and he just rolled over like a giant puppy, which Klee proceeded to treat him as, as she scratched his chin and rubbed his belly. When Albedo asked if he should be concerned, Camilla told him that he doesn't take to people often so they should still keep an eye on the girl.
• People couldn't help but compare pegasus knights to angels or something similar, as they move with both grace and ferocity, both striking fear and inspiring awe in those who see them. It's quite embarrassing for them to hear such a thing.
• Those who ride horses, despite how plain they are compared to the other two, are seen as noble and dignified. Even when they don't try, to the people of Teyvat, the mounted warriors always seem the most noble in manner of speech and etiquette. Of course, there are outliers, they aren't abhorrent but they aren't what you'd typically describe as noble or dignified, often only lacking one of these two.
• Inazuma was visited by the Hoshidans. When Miko met the other worldly kitsune, you were quick to explain that Hoshido's kitsune seem to retain their more animalistic behaviors, as opposed to Miko's more human traits. When Kaden and Selkie learn that Miko is a kitsune, they are quick to want to compare transformations, as they are curious if there are any other differences. Miko shows hesitance, and you ask her what the issue is, and when she turns to tell you that there is no issue, she sees the biggest shit eating smirk on your face. Be prepared for the ultimate revenge upon your next visit.
• Your mischief doesn't end in Inazuma, as you invite Alois with you on a trip to Sumeru, where you listen in glee as Tighnari groans in increasing agony while Cyno and Alois have a grand old time.

Tumblr media
engagements bring out the softie in harry, and time apart most definitely does make the heart grow fonder
word count: 3.3k (slay)
warnings: swearing!!! (they're british, it's a given), fluff fluff fluff i love them sm, there may be some cringey parts, not sorry x
.
“You’re such a blunt texter.” Harry laughs as he enters your bedroom, eyes finding your head poking out of the swirls of white covers. He drops his overnight bag on to the vintage chair in the corner of the room and braces his arms over your head.
You frown up at him and his smile grows wider. “I’m not.”
“You never put kisses on your texts anymore.” He notes, leaning down to peck the corner of your mouth. You feel your stomach flip at this; how did he notice something so little in the change of your behaviour? You were trying to shake the petty feelings you had by treating him as you would any random hook-up, but he made it very difficult.
“I sometimes draft them, but you never put them back, so I delete them.” Your voice is almost embarrassed as you say it. Harry frowns, tilting his head. You watch as his hair falls with him.
“Don’t delete the kisses,” he mumbles, gently kissing your mouth and mumbling against your lips, “they’re cute.”
The memory from months ago flashes through your head as you stare down at the drafted text message on your phone, the line flashing next to the words ‘we should talk later’. Harry’s number is still saved into your phone, a small picture of him wearing your scrunchie and a pink mask spread around his face sits above his name, squeezing your heart painfully.
“Shit.” You sigh, deleting the four words and locking your phone, placing it down on the table and glancing up at Sarah showing off her ring to some of your mutual friends, hers and Mitch’s eyes sparkling akin to the small diamond on her finger. It was depressing, really, observing all of your friends around you settling down and getting engaged, whilst you were still emotionally getting over a casual fling. It didn’t help that you had perfect view of Harry’s back as he sat and talked to Sarah’s parents merely a stone’s throw away. You sometimes caught snippets of his laugh, or mumblings of a joke that made Sarah’s father cackle loudly.
His eyes had followed you when you arrived, passing Sarah and Mitch an expensive bottle of wine, hands nervously brushing down your powder blue dress. You had finally met Harry’s eyes as they fawned over the present, him barely lifting the corner of his mouth before turning and walking into the garden, downing the glass of prosecco in his hand. When Sarah gave you a sad smile as you turned back, you knew immediately that Harry had told Mitch everything, and he’d most likely filled the gaps for his fiancée.
It was safe to say after that small encounter you scurried to the other side of the garden and planted yourself at a small table that was furthest from the mingling crowd. This was the last place you wanted to be.
The sun set beautifully over Sarah’s Hampstead home and an old record crooned through the speakers at the patio doors. It was springtime now, the cold memory of when you left Harry’s house in January still sitting bitterly in your chest. Since that moment, you both had only shared fleeting glances on group nights out, or stiffly interacting when you were round at Sarah’s for game night. It was torture not being able to share illicit kisses in the foyer like you used to, Harry usually tugging your arm and pressing you against the wall, “to tide me over until later” he would say, a searing kiss punctuating it before he slunk back off to the living room. What once was thrilling had now turned sour and dormant.
Sarah came and checked on you after many photos, and you could tell her socially awkward side was starting to rear its head as more family members tried to shove their cameras in her face.
“Wanna get a drink?” You laugh, and she nods enthusiastically, blowing her bangs out of her face and grabbing your hand. She pours you both a wine once you’re away from the crowds, the music turning to a mere humming that lulled your anxiety. Parties weren’t usually your thing, and Harry’s presence normally helped. This time, however, it was making it slightly worse. You catch Sarah clinking her ring against her glass and you grin.
“I’m so happy for you, Sar.” A hand squeezes her shoulder, and she thanks you, laying her palm on top of yours gently. You stand in silence together and sip your drinks, both needing the breather from the intense atmosphere.
“So, when are you and H going to make up, and stop moping around at my party?” She quips. Your drink slips down an awkward part of your throat that makes you splutter; you fan your watery eyes until your coughing subsides.
“God, Sarah.” You sigh.
“Hey! I don’t know what happened,” you shoot her a pointed look, “but I can tell that you’re both sad. Harry’s been writing more than ever, too.”
“Isn’t that a good thing?” You ignore the strange feeling you get at the thought of being Harry’s subject of his songs. Of his sad songs, at that. You rest your free hand against your sternum to calm your heartbeat.
“He’s been a right grump these past few weeks. Some of his sessions with Mitch have ended up going on through the night, I’m a bit worried about him.”
Your eyes sting and Sarah’s voice softens. “I’ve been worried about you, too.”
“I’m fine. He told me in our last conversation that he thinks he still loves his ex, so…s’probably who he’s writing about.” You shrug, and Sarah frowns.
“Harry hasn’t seen her in ages, Y/N—” Her voice dims as a familiar pair of boots click into the kitchen. You clear your throat and turn the other way, pretending to busy yourself with pouring more wine.
“Oh, hey. We were just…getting a drink.” Sarah’s sheepish voice gives you both away immediately, though you’re pretty sure Harry heard the last few sentences of your conversation.
The air is stagnant and uncomfortable before Harry lets out a loaded huff. You can feel his stare like pin pricks all over your back.
“I haven’t seen her since that night, Y/N.” He says stiffly, completely ignoring Sarah. Your hands tremble as you place the wine bottle down and turn around slowly, glancing at Harry’s face. You expect to see a stony expression, but his eyes are softened and sad-looking, his mouth turned down. Sarah rubs your shoulder and slinks out of the kitchen, a gentle hand on Harry’s back conveying the same message.
“I-“ Your voice is weak. You try to say something, anything, but the words die in your throat. You look down at your feet and then back to Harry’s face. God, Sarah was right. His under eyes are deep grey from lack of sleep. You begin to well up. It was all too much, properly speaking to Harry for the first time in weeks, seeing him looking all sorry for himself, hearing that he was writing about you.
“Oh, Y/N.” He sighs regretfully, running a hand through his longer hair. Sounds of kids squealing in the back garden make him on edge, you can tell with the way he begins cracking his knuckles against his thigh.
“I’m sorry.” Your voice is thick from the tears.
“No, no. I don’t wanna hear any of that.” He shakes his head, moving closer and placing his wine glass down next to yours. He looks down at you but doesn’t make a move to touch you in any way. It makes more tears fall.
“Harry, why haven’t you been sleeping?” You whisper to him sadly, your hand unconsciously resting on his wrist. All you can think about is what Sarah said about his emotional state since that day, was he really that hung up about it?
He swallows and looks down at your touch, eyebrows furrowing.
“Felt lonely without you there.” He shrugs, itching the tip of his nose as his eyes begin to sting and redden. You sigh and slip your hand into his before he can object. Noise clatters from somewhere in the house followed by a string of conversation and you come back down to earth quickly.
“If we’re gonna talk, we need to do it privately.” You squeeze his hand and he nods, squeezing it back before leading you out of the kitchen, his tall frame hiding your bleary eyes as he guides you to the familiar entryway to the house. Sarah’s foyer to her front door is closed off from the rest of the house, giving you both a semblance of privacy.
“Why here?” you mutter, wrapping your arms around yourself at the draft. He almost looks hurt at your question.
“Dunno. Was kind of our place, no?.” He’s clipped with his tone, but it juxtaposes his actions as he slips his expensive cardigan off his shoulders and drapes it over your shoulders. You watch his face closely as he fits it over your body, having no choice with the small space you had to stand in. You mull over the use of ‘our’ in his reply.
“Harry.” You mumble. He hums.
“I’m sorry for storming out.” It just comes out of you, not feeling like tiptoeing around the subject any longer. He freezes and bites the inside of his cheek.
“I deserved it. Stop apologising, alrigh’? S’me that should be doing it first.” His hands stay perched on your shoulders gently, warming every cell and sensory in your body.
“I’m sorry if it seemed like I was leading you on, or anything,” one of his hands lifts to brush your hair away from your face, “truthfully, I was trying myself to hide my own feelings. I was scared that I was the one who’d fallen first, Y/N.” Your heart starts to thud a bit harder in your chest
“So why did you react so badly, when I first told you that night I was drunk?” Your tears have dried up now and your tone is slightly hostile. He was always just so…fucking confusing.
“I got scared. I don’t know, like you were just saying it because you were drunk, and you didn’t actually mean it.” He says nervously. You’d never considered that to be the reason for his apprehensiveness, although it didn’t sound like the strongest argument for how he’d reacted.
“God, Harry. It really upset me, you know?” He nods profusely and holds the guiltiest look on his face, eyes glancing down at your lips before travelling up your face. Your eyes hang on his lips too, wanting that intimacy you hadn’t felt from him in so long. At this point, you weren’t sure if you were even upset anymore, this hurt had dragged on for so long that you were just yearning for some semblance of normality with him.
“I know, I know. I regretted it when you came to my house with all my stuff that day. I could tell that you were really hurt. I-I guess I spat out my feelings to you so you wouldn’t leave. It really fucking hurt watching you walk back down the driveway, too. And I can’t wear that teddy bear ring anymore…” He’s rambling at this point and you place your hands on his jaw to slow him down.
The air feels dense around the two of you, and it seems you’re both waiting for the right time to act on what you’re feeling. He missed you, you missed him. Would it be so bad?
“Harry.” You breathe. He calms down, eyes searching yours before he surges forward and fits your mouths together for what feels like the first time in eternity, seemingly reading your mind and beating you to the punch. He breathes harshly through his nose at the contact, humming contently against your mouth as he lulls you through a long and needy kiss, tilting your head back on your neck for easier access. His fingers are delicate, stroking your cheek, your jaw, your hair.
“I don’t even care about her. Not one bit.” He heaves out in between kisses, and you whimper, locking your arms tightly around his neck. You break from the kiss and he kisses your cheekbones, rubbing his nose against yours as you catch your breath.
“You’re so confusing. Really make my head spin, y’know?” Your eyes close as his hands travel to grip your waist tightly.
“I know. You don’t need to be confused now, yeah? M’right here.” He’s on your neck now, kissing soft trails from your ear to your collar bone. His head finally rests in your neck however, not seeming to initiate anything you thought he would. All you can feel is the rhythmic breaths coming from his lips that spread over your collarbones.
“Harry?” Your voice is soft but airy, still out of breath from the intense kiss you just shared.
“I’ve really missed how you smell, y’know? So sweet.”
“Okay, vampire.” You laugh. He lifts his head with amused yet bleary eyes meeting yours, muttering a ‘shut up’ at your teasing. Truthfully, you knew exactly what he meant. You’d missed the smell of his aftershave lingering around your place, his washing powder on your sheets. You just missed him.
“I miss you leaving little things around my house. Found your lilac bra the other day, y’know? Torture.” He sighs, you clear your throat in attempt to will away the heat from your cheeks. You’d been searching for that bra just last week.
“Is that all you miss? My lingerie?” You scoff – although joking, it was a question that had been sitting in the back of your head for quite some time. What exactly did he miss? Just the sex, or you holistically?
He kisses you again, nipping at your lips.
“Miss the little puffs that came out of your lips when you were fast asleep. The scrunchies I find in every bloody place.” He laughs, listing off each thing between a delicate peck, “miss your smile. I just miss you.”
“I missed you too Harry, s’much.” Your breath is airy, the sheer amount of emotion weighing down your larynx, almost making it impossible to form a sentence. He almost seemed to render you speechless when he was like this, all soft and kind. The Harry that made you fall in love with him.
“Yeah?” You shiver at his tone.
You nod, “I almost texted you earlier, was kind of hoping we’d be able to talk. I’m glad you barged in on mine and Sarah’s conversation now.”
“Why didn’t you text?” He runs his thumb along where he was biting at your lips.
“I was scared you’d tell me to fuck off.” You laugh, “or worse, watch you from a few metres away reading the text and ignoring it.”
He shakes his head. “Y/N, you know I wouldn’t have done that.” You shrug, feeling your insecurity rising. Someone slinks past the door to the foyer and you both have bated breath until they move away. Harry has a frown on his face when he looks back at you.
“Did you even believe what I said that day?” His insecurity is showing now, and a resounding knock on the door makes you release your grip that was still on the back of his neck, interrupting the heavier content of the conversation.
“I’m fucking in love with you, you know that?” He yells as you’re halfway through the threshold of the door. You wish that this was like a film or something, that you’d stop in your tracks and turn back to him, running into his arms and making up in the beat of a heart. But this was real-life, real-life feelings and real hurt that you were feeling. You turn around, tears falling freely now.
“No you’re fucking not.” You whisper. His hand slips to your cheek and he has a pained look on his face and you’re shaking your head with your eyes screwed shut. He tries to convince you with small murmurs of your name.
A friend of Sarah’s pops her head round the door, informing you both that a toast was about to happen, and Mitch had given a very grumbled request that they be there. You both slip out to the garden with around five seconds between your entrances, but you’re fully aware of how suspicious it looks. You stand a bit away from Harry now, hands trembling slightly from where the conversation left off. Was that it? The moment you’d wished for since the day of your argument, the moment Harry would tell you he loved you, and actually meant it? You shake off the question, locking your eyes on the couple before you.
“Everyone here? Good.” Mitch grins, and it’s a weird sight to say at the least.
“We wanted to thank you all for attending our little do, though it turned out to be a bit of a soiree, thank you Harry.” Sarah jokingly grits his name through her teeth and it draws a laugh from the crowd. Harry knew people, and he knew how to throw a party. Harry jokingly bows and a string of secondary laughs buzz through the crowd.
“I promised I’d take this one, since, you know, Mitch is such the talker,” he gives her a faux-stern look, nothing even remotely bitter in his eyes, just pure and unadulterated love. The sun peeks over the distant houses and hills of England, and you breathe in the air. It was a perfect scene and it blossomed that already-blooming seed of love in your stomach.
“I guess, us finding one another was unexpected. Not the bad kind of unexpected though, and I’m eternally grateful to whatever force brought us together, I guess. You make me better, and you make my life brighter, and louder, and a bit more bearable.” Sarah’s voice is quiet and wobbly, and you feel your throat catching. Mitch looks the most emotional you’ve ever seen him. “I felt silly telling you I loved you that first time, because I didn’t possibly think you could love me back. But you did, and you do, every single waking moment. Looking back, I think it’s ridiculous to push those feelings away, or even doubt them at all. If you love, love to your highest count, y’know, as cheesy as it sounds. Let those people know, because it might be your last chance.” she laughs, wiping tears from her pink cheeks. Mitch grabs her hand and squeezes it and you hear a few sniffles in the crowd, people clapping and cheering and hooting. Tears silently slip down the scape of your cheekbones and some kind of pull forces you to look in Harry’s direction, his eyes already on you, consuming you. He's got tears falling out of his eyes too, hands clapping but paying no attention to the celebration around him. He shakes his head at you in disbelief, a laugh falling from his lips. There’s a small vacuum and It feels like you and Harry are the only ones in it for a moment, Sarah’s voice tuning out.
“I love you. I love you so much.” He mouths, but you can see every syllable, every word, and God, can you feel each word too.
People file away from the huddle towards a table laid with food and drink, leaving you both under the cast of the setting sun. His face glows like a beacon.
You carry yourself over to him and submit to his hold, leaning all of your both physical and emotional weight against him as he kisses you with every fibre of his being. You both laugh in between the movements, unbothered by the possible attention of others around you as you turn your heads in tandem. His hands grip your waist so tightly you fear he might break you, but some part of your brain is more than okay with that. The kiss isn’t anything more than delicate touches, saving the indulgent ones for when you’re in private.
“I love you too. I did those months ago and I still do.” You whisper, kissing his cheek, his mouth, the mole next to his mouth. He holds you to his chest as you both stop to look at each other. The peace you had been seeking finally sets in as you brush his hair around his face. His eyes bounce around your face as he breathes out his next words, that make your heart contract.
“You’re everything I’ve ever wanted. You’re my girl.”

Happy Birthday Asmodeus (Obey Me!) fic
summary: Asmodeus gets pampered for his birthday. Casual fluff stuff.
Asmodeus gave a heavy groan upon waking. Since his head was pounding like obon drums as the scent of ocean salt and lavender surrounded him. The sounds of waves sounding out in the distance as well as the sounds of birds singing close by. A chuckle also wafting out from next to the feather soft bed as Asmodeus groaned again. The woman sitting next to the bed soon leaning over him to press a cool cloth over his eyes for Asmodeus to sigh at the relief such brings from the hammering in his skull. The lady chiding him with loving warmth as she keeps dabbing the cloth over his face. "This is why I told you to count your cups, silly boy. Focus on breathing so the pain eases."
A sensation of gentle magic soon flowed over the pain so that Asmodeus might find relief from it. The demon sighing sweetly to ease back into the bed and hum a note of pure gratitude. His eyes soon opening to look to Adelha as she gazed down at him. His words soft and full of charm. "My hero... Saving me from my own foolishness during that wild birthday party. I'd kiss you if I had the strength to get up. But this feels too good to not bask in the moment."
Adelha gave him a smirk as she moved to gently tap him on the nose. Her words full of sugared affections. "Count this as your birthday gift from me, then. Honestly. Even you have limits, Asmodeus. Know your limits and abide by them. Else you'll have worse than a hangover next time." Asmodeus sighed to to towards Adelha and smile at her with that boyish charm that tended to sway many a mortal to his whims. But it only had Adelha tap him on the nose again before she speaks further. "Do not even bother trying to be suave and charismatic with me right now, sweetling. Not after Lucifer had to help me spirit you away to get you to finally rest. He's been texting all day to check in on you. I told him you will be treated to fresh air, sunshine, and a day of simple leisure. Once you woke up to greet the afternoon."
Asmodeus blinked to then roll his eyes and sigh. "The I really did go too far with that partying and fun. How uncouth of me. I'm so sorry, Margaret. I must have worried you and the others." Adelha leaned in to give Asmodeus a tender kiss. One that was sweet, warm, and chaste for Asmodeus to hum into the kiss with pure delight. Soon breaking the kiss for him to finally sit up with her assistance. So it is that Asmodeus gives Adelha a tender hu for her to hug him back. A feeling of abiding love and acceptance having the demon ease out of his charismatic act and into a more personable humility. The mask removed for just the two of them as Asmodeus rested his head on Adelha's shoulder. "Everyone kept telling me they'd been planning my birthday party for weeks. I knew that they expected me to be my jovial party hard self. With all of Devilgram watching the festivities. I knew on some level it wasn't a good idea to put up the act for so long. But I can't say no to one more toast. I can't disappoint them. They expect so much from me. It's so... Terrifying..."
Adelha effortlessly swept Asmodeus into her lap to hold him close and sigh. The bedsheet keeping him covered like a cloak as Adelha showered his face with kisses as his tears burned his eyes. Yet she simply gave him comfort and gentle patience to rub her nose to his. Words of soft love given against his skin. "I know my sweetling. But there is no stage for you to perform on here. There are no spectators or fans to demand anything of you. No cameras or fanfare to have you dance to the tune. There is only us and a vast island sanctuary to rest in." Asmodeus sniffled to let himself cry it out. A righteous purging of all the fears and faults to let them wash away with tears and the sounds of the tides. While Adelha kissed those tears away and rubbed her bare hands over his back and shoulders to coax those freeing tears from the Avatar of Lust.
A long moment is spent with Asmodeus crying and sobbing to let all his anxieties and fears fall away from his heart under the loving care of this dragon maiden. One who simply holds him close and comforts his spirit. Until his tears are spent for Adelha to dab at his eyes with the cloth. Her smile one of unconditional love and acceptance as she hums a warm note at him. "There we go. It's okay for you to take full breaths of air here, Asmodeus. I know all too well your performances for others feels like a too tight corset. So I will cut such off of your heart to let you breathe freely here. Your weakness is a precious and priceless treasure to me, sweetling. Such a sight of vulnerability is one I shall cherish for all my days and nights. Mine alone in this moment to hold as sacred."
Asmodeus sniffled to feel all those fears and that crushing weight float off and away from him. Leaving him feeling raw yet loved in a way he dearly appreciated. So he hugged Adelha to let her move them back into the fathered bed as the breeze gently wafted through the open windows. Carrying the scents of sun baked sands, ocean spray, and wildflowers. Adelha poured him a mug of fruit tea for Asmodeus to rest against the headboard and bask in the moment of serenity with someone he both trusted and treasured. Only for Lucifer to make his presence known by his sigh as he stood at the bedroom door. Yet Asmodeus simply smiled with his eyes red and both hands holding the mug with a slight tremble. The Avatar of Pride soon moving to sit on the bed with them and gently tuck a stray hair out of Asmo's eyes. The eldest brother simply tapping a finger to the mug of tea to place a spell over the tea and gift his brother some energy back. A silent yet obvious sign of love for Lucifer to smirk at them both. "The others will be expecting us to return home by next week. For now, it will be just the three of us and the puppies in Adelha's family sanctuary. This island in the Human World is a haven away from prying eyes. So we have a week to just savor the time together. Lord Diavolo hopes we enjoy the break to return with some fun stories to tell."
Adelha chuckled to sip at her own mug of tea as Asmodeus nodded to give Lucifer a real smile. One that was tired but grateful as he spoke. "This is the most thoughtful gift ever. But I do want for us to try hunting for clams to grill later on for dinner. But for now... This is perfect..."

yeah so i’m gonna need the deets on bury me in the deep like,,,,,,,,,s’il te plaît 🙏
(also hi!!!)
It's a selkie!Kevin Kandreil AU! A one shot too if the fates allow.
Basically, the Moriyama's are magical artifacts dealers. And the Foxes are part that... Part monster hunters, part halfway house for people in some way victimized by magic. Aaron and Andrew are the fruits of a witch bargain, hence why Tilda gave one of them away; Neil is half-devil; and the rest will be figured out as I go along.
So yeah! Kayleigh was a selkie living it up on the surface, and after her death (which may or may not have been ordered by Kengo so they could sell her pelt), Tetsuji took Kevin's coat away for "safekeeping". So while Kevin escapes the Nest, he can't actually *leave* as long as they still have his coat. This, understandably, gives him some issues around disclosing his true nature, and as such none of the Foxes (except for Wymack, obviously) know what he is, though they suspect something fishy (ha) is going on.
So he's been at Palmetto (adapted to be a coastal town for our purposes) for a year, trying to dodge Andrew's questions and repress all his feelings. And then Neil Josten arrives (I guess some things never change).
If everything goes well, it's gonna be my second entry to the daylight fest. That does imply me actually writing tooh first, and I'm still wrestling with that one. But all's well that ends well or wathever.
Here is the opening, as a treat:
It's almost as if there are two skies, this time of night where the full moon is reflected over the blackness of the sea. The roiling waves of the rising tide disturb the image from time to time, and yet, Kevin has no interest in looking up. He just stands there, warm water driving his bare feet further down into the cold sand, wishing he could see past the surface.
Riko has put another notch into his pelt today.

This One's Alright - Part 3
Tumblr media
Part 1, Part 2
Muffled voices roused Villain into consciousness, her mind staggering to catch up.
Her fingers flexed against the plush surface she rested on: Civilian's couch, she realized. Its every lump and dip was familiar at the curve of her back. It smelled like must and Civilian's shampoo.
The voices grew clearer, sharpening into focus.
"Are you crazy?" someone hissed. "We could go to jail for this! You are harboring a fugitive!"
The next voice, warm and familiar, made her heart leap. "Would you keep your voice down?"Civilian, her Civilian. "I didn't know who else to call, I can't call an ambulance or they'll- they'll hurt her."
"Hurt her?! Civilian. You're aware she's a dangerous criminal, right?" The voice belonged to a woman. One she didn't recognize.
"I'm only asking that you stabilize her, please. After that, you don't have to be involved. I know I'm asking a lot--"
The woman sighed. "I really don't think you do."
A moment later, hands were against her torso. Not Civilian's hands.
Villain's eyes snapped open and her hand lashed out, catching the culprit by the throat and squeezing enough to bruise.
Her eyes, wide with panic, stirred familiar somewhere in Villain's mind. A moment later, her face registered in Villain's memory. The girl from the photo in Civilian's room.
"Villain! Villain no, this is my sister, Cara- She won't hurt you. Let her go. Please." Civilian tripped over the coffee table in his haste to scramble closer, knocking all manner of things to the floor.
Villain's gaze shot to him, all but cementing him to the spot.
He held his hands up in a soothing gesture. As if he could be a threat to her. Something warm flicked in Villain's belly. Surrender suited him, in the adorably innocent way that everything suited that scrap of a civilian. From the narrow slope of his shoulders to the disarming spattering of freckles dusting his face, he was endearing. Like a house cat offering up a mouse to its owner.
"Let her go," he repeated softly, padding closer.
Villain's fingers twitched against Civilian's sister's neck. The girl's hands had flitted to Villain's wrists at some point, not quite daring to try to pull Villain's hands away.
"Why-" Villain tried to speak and the words splintered into a sharp cough instead. She swallowed and tried again, voice low and demanding. "Why is she here?"
"She's a nurse," Civilian said, risking a step closer.
"You called her."
"To help! To help you. I thought-" Civilian's voice hitched. "I thought you were going to die."
Villain softened. Her hand fell away from Cara's throat.
The young women coughed, staggering back from the Villain still half-dead on the couch. Villain smiled and wiggled her fingers in greeting. "Cara. It's a pleasure."
Cara gave her brother an incredulous look. "You cannot--!" She cut off and spoke in a hush more suited for private conversations. "You cannot expect me to treat this- this- lunatic."
"I'm still right here."
Cara startled, her face washing the same lifeless pale-beige of the peeling wallpaper.
"Please, Cara, I think she needs stitches," Civilian said, crouching down by the villain's side. His breath warmed her cheek.
Cara stared, looking suitably shocked that Villain hadn't bitten Civilian's head off for daring to come near her.
Villain's head gave a tilt, gaze fixed upon the other civilian.
"Okay... Fine. I stitch her up, make sure she's stable. Then I leave and you continue whatever the hell this is on your own. Got it?"
"Yes," Civilian said, then turned to Villain. His gaze warmed when he looked at her, something far softer than she was certain she deserved. "Will you let her patch you up? Please? She'll do a better job than I did."
Villain nodded, exhaustion sweeping over her as abruptly as a crashing tide. She'd been awake a few minutes and her throat still scraped like sandpaper with every swallow. A cold ache settled in her limbs.
She listened to the civilians' movements. Cara toed closer.
"I'm going to take a look at your wound now, okay?"
"Mm."
Even with her eyes closed, the world seemed to sway and tumble. She was only distantly aware of Cara pulling her shirt up, undoing Civilian's shoddy bandaging, and assessing the damage beneath.
The clattering of what Villain assumed was the nurse's medical kit pulled Villain back into sharp consciousness. Her eyes flitted open.
Villain watched the nurse thread a needle.
"I don't have an anesthetic with me," she said. "This will hurt."
Villain snorted. "I have a bloody hole in my waist, I think I can handle a few pinpricks."
Cara shrugged and leaned in, sliding the needle through the skin on one side of the wound with deft fingers.
Villain hissed in a breath through her teeth, her hand finding Civilian's and gripping it tightly.
"Told you," Cara murmured.
Through the next stitch and the next, Villain kept a firm hold of her Civilian's hand. He didn't let go, shifting to center himself in her field of vision.
A lovely distraction indeed, she noted.
"You still want my number?" He offered a soft smile. "Y'know, so you can call me next time you're on your way to... bleed out in my apartment. I can prepare, like, make some tea or whatever. Prop open the first-aid kit."
Villain smiled and it cracked through the crust of dried blood on her lip. "Next time, you should find some stronger pain meds."
Civilian wheezed a laugh. His fingers, light and delicate, brushed the hair from her eyes. "Make it through this, and we'll call it a date." His cheeks went abruptly pink. "Not a date-date! Just a, you know, non-date...date... Unless you want it to be a date! Not that I expect you'd want to-"
"Civilian."
"Huh?" His eyes shot to hers again as Villain reached up to touch his face.
Villain's smile softened, losing its edges, though no less amused than ever. "Let's call it a date."
Civilian looked startled. "Oh! Yes. I mean- sure. If you want."
Villain started to laugh--then winced as the needle pierced her flesh once more.
'Next time' felt an awfully long way away.

I love how unlike in the original game, Leon is actually angry at Ada. In the original not only does he seem unaffected by the fact that she's still alive, he doesn't even care that she used and betrayed him. I like how Leon now acts indifferent and distrustful of her, and now Ada is the one trying to get his attention.
Another thing that stood out to me was that Ada tried to convince Leon to let Ashley die twice, and I love her disappointed expression when Leon ignored her both times lol.
I'm happy that Capcom is rewriting their canon, and I really hope they scrap Aeon if they plan on remaking RE 6. Ada is still basically treating Leon like a dog and that's disgusting and I don't understand how some people think the Aeon is a "beautiful, romantic relationship".
Their meeting in OG is so weird because it almost feels like that's not actually the first time that they've seen each other between RE2 and RE4. I don't think that that's actually the case -- but, at the very least, Leon seems to have gotten confirmation a long time ago that Ada was actually still alive. ("So it is true. You, working with Wesker.") So, it does make sense that he's not super shocked or otherwise emotionally affected to see her.
I don't think that it's fair to say that he doesn't care that she betrayed him, though. He's definitely wary of her throughout the game ("Why are you here? Why'd you show up like this?" / "Maybe it's about time you told me the reason why you're here."), and he's right to be because -- duh, Wesker.
But, he's not overly worried about it because Ada also gave him a declaration of love and a genuine, dying kiss in OG RE2, so OG Leon has no reason to believe that Ada's going to do anything to actively hurt him or fuck him over, even if she is working with Wesker.
Remake canon is a whole different beast.
Ada never professed feelings in RE2make, and the kiss she gave him in that version of the story was disingenuous and outwardly manipulative. He might not have realized it at the time, but I'm sure he definitely saw it in hindsight. And Leon doesn't have the intel about Wesker going into RE4make, either, so he has absolutely no idea what she's been up to in the last six years. He has every reason to be way more suspicious and uncertain of her motives than he was in OG.
For all intents and purposes, I would argue that Remake canon killed Aeon in RE2make, when Leon points a gun at her and tells her that he never trusted her. OG Leon would have never, because, arguably, OG Ada never deserved it.
Like, I really don't think it's fair to say that OG Ada treated OG Leon like a dog. OG Ada was honest with Leon in ways that Remake Ada never, ever was. OG Ada was also kinder and softer in a lot of different ways that Remake Ada isn't -- and, OG Ada has only ever been on Leon's side. No matter which way the tides turned, Ada always kept her lot thrown in with Leon and never went back on it.
Remake Ada does not do that -- at least, not in a way that he can see. Remake Ada actually does manipulate Remake Leon in the way that people perceive her as always having done in OG (but she actually didn't).
Like, is Aeon stupid and poorly written and badly executed in OG? Oh, absolutely. That's why we're having this conversation to begin with. It's so poorly executed that people can't even agree on what the fuck actually happened between them. But... it is internally consistent, if you pull back and look at it as a complete picture.
This might be a weird pedantic, overly nuanced thing I'm about to say but, like.
I feel like Ada's use of Leon in OG was done from a place of respect, if that makes sense? She knew how smart and capable he was, and she respected that about him, so she looked at him from the perspective of "we'll work together on shit as a team, but I just can't/won't tell him the full extent of what I'm actually doing." And Leon kind of understood that and was grateful for her help, because she continuously gave him reasons to trust her. So, his response was, "We'll work together on shit as a team, and if I don't ask her what she's doing, we can stay a team."
Remake Ada's use of Leon is a lot more malicious. She doesn't respect him; she wants something from him. Remake Ada's use/manipulation of Leon feels more like her looking at him and going "You know, I could probably get something out of him if I play my cards right." It's like that old Chris Rock bit where he talks about how girls don't fuck him just because they want to fuck him; they look at him and go "You know, if I fuck Chris Rock, I bet I could get him to pay my Visa bill."
I feel like that has the opportunity to change, though? Because it does seem like Ada has a genuine change of heart in the post-credits scene of RE4make. The question now is if Remake Leon would actually accept that change of heart or not.
Personally, I don't think that he will -- I think he wants to, just like he wanted to trust her in RE2make. But, ultimately, he didn't trust her. And I think he won't accept her change of heart, either, simply because she's given him absolutely no reason to.
And I think Remake canon could be setting up to turn Ada into a far more tragic character. Without Leon's support and without a plan already set in place when she betrays Wesker, I don't think that this is going to end well for her. She might become the type of character who learned the lesson too late and now can't be saved.
Which... like... sucks. But at the same time is really fucking awesome, because literally no one in the RE universe ever faces real, actual, tangible consequences for their actions. Most of that fucking cast should be dead or turned or both by now. And while it sucks that Ada might end up the sacrificial lamb for this, she's also the best candidate for being the first one to go through it -- because, if Capcom can pull it off with Ada, they're coming for Chris next. Because no one needs to face consequences more than that motherfucker.
And that's gonna be a whole fuckin thing, man.

Chapter 9
Crosshair approached Hunter and asked to speak in private with him. They walked out of earshot of the others and Crosshair turned around.
“Don’t send me with Ka’li.”
“Care to explain why?”
Crosshair scowled.
“If you don’t have a legitimate reason, then you need to go.”
“Why?”
“Why not? It’s not a dangerous mission. Why do you not want to go?”
Crosshair grumbled, but it was gibberish.
“Then I take it you will be fine to go with her?”
Crosshair’s cheeks flushed and the scowl deepened.
“Look, I know how you feel. You’ll be fine.”
Crosshair’s heartrate increased. Hunter couldn’t know how he felt when even he couldn’t figure it out… right?
“Know how I feel? And what exactly is it that you think I feel?”
“You feel like you’re being given guard duty. But I think you two just need some bonding time.”
Bonding time was the absolute last thing Crosshair wanted with her right now. If he bonded any more, he was bound to blurt out his feelings for her.
Upon landing, Crosshair still hadn’t gotten out of being voluntold he was accompanying her. An entire mission that he has to be with her? It was his favorite dream and worst nightmare packed together. His teeth gnashed on the toothpick, rolling it around.
Hunter was up to something more than just creating “bonding time,” he just knew it. The barely contained glee in his brother’s eyes was noticeable. “Crosshair will go with you.”
Ka’li smiled uneasily at Crosshair, causing anxiety to gnaw away at his stomach. She didn’t want him to go. “Are you sure?” she asked Hunter.
“It’s a mission that only requires two, and he’s the best fit to go with you. Just try to get back before the storm hits.”
She raised an eyebrow in thought, then nodded. Crosshair rolled his eyes and stuck a toothpick in his mouth.
“Crosshair, would you prefer someone else to come with me?” she asked quietly. He almost dropped his toothpick, scrambling to find the answer most like himself.
“Let’s just get this over with.”
Hunter’s eyebrows narrowed at him, but Crosshair didn’t care. Crosshair turned away to gather his gear, letting that cover his thoughts.
Ever since meeting her, he’d only let their relationship be tumultuous at best. Her smile was obnoxious for all of about five seconds before he lost it. How she could handle the things he said to her and throw it back at him, but still be kind was a mystery to him. Sometimes, he’d almost describe her as meek until she’d tell him not to be a di’kut. They might get into an argument, but more and more, he’d been letting her win. There was that one day she genuinely smiled at him and while he tried to fight the tide, he finally gave in and admitted to himself that he was really beginning to like her.
But he didn’t want to do anything about it. It was easier for him to continue as he had been. How was he, a pawn for the military, a genetically ‘desirable’ and enhanced clone, supposed to do anything about it, anyway? He was aging twice as fast, or more, as she was, and she deserved better than an asshole, anyway. No matter how much it hurt to tell himself that.
When he was younger, still going through blinding growing pains, he swore to himself after each fight with the regs that he and his batch would come out on top and that the regs would be in awe. In that dream, he had occasionally included all the ladies flocking to him and a few to his brothers.
It wasn’t the same, now. Most of his reg brothers were gone, strategically and insidiously being picked off from the Imperial Army. Being treated like droids, like property, rather than living, breathing beings. No, it was nowhere near the same now.
And now that she had stepped into his life, there was only one smile he desired every day. Not the flocks he had imagined, but a specific smile. Sometimes, he could coax it out. A genuine, gentle smile. It was the only one he needed.
He hefted his pack onto his back and picked up his bucket, turning to see her out of the corner of his eye. She was just finishing up.
Good. The sooner this mission was over with, the sooner he could release the tension in his shoulders.
When he had focused on her again, she was gone and a tap on his other side got his attention.
“Pack some rations, too?” she asked, holding out a couple ration bars. His favorite flavor, too. He slowly took them from her and stashed them away.
“Thanks….”
“No need to be suspicious. I just didn’t see you walk to the food case.”
Had she been watching him, too? Maybe it was too much to dream for.
Before he could respond, she had turned to Omega, who had popped up behind her.
“Are you sure you don’t need my bow?”
She ruffled the girl’s hair, getting a giggle out of her. “Yeah, Megs, I think I’ll be okay. I have a blaster, but I already have the best sniper in the galaxy to back me up. He won’t let me die. Will you, Crosshair?”
“I’ll keep you safe,” he grumbled.
“See? Your brother will keep me safe and we’ll help the villagers, too. Win-win mission.”
“Okay.”
“We’ll be back soon. In the meantime, don’t get into too much trouble without me.”
“I make no promises.”
“But I do,” Hunter walked in. “The storm is ahead of schedule, according to Tech. You need to hurry.”
“Got it. Onward and forward, Crosshair.”
He shoved his bucket on and grumbled a few things, but took the lead.
She made little to no attempts to start a conversation, much to both his relief and his disappointment.
Maybe she didn’t want to talk to him after all. Maybe she hated him. Maybe, despite returning to his squad, she held him in high contempt for choosing the Empire.
“You’re awfully quiet,” he said after about a half hour, startling her, which he immediately regretted.
“I know you don’t like conversation, so I didn’t want to bother you with it.”
So she was considering his preferences. That made him smile, able to hide it behind his bucket.
“But you do.”
“I just want to make this mission as smooth as possible.”
Maybe she did hate him. He eyed a cave to his left, but determined it was too shallow to have something dangerous hiding in it.
“Is something on your mind that’s bugging you?” she asked.
“No,” he bit out harsher than he had intended on.
“Okay.”
A couple more minutes of silence passed, then he sighed, which caught her attention.
“Actually, there is one thing.”
“I’m listening.”
He paused, uncertain how to ask what was on his mind.
She didn’t push him, but she did look at him periodically.
“You must hate me for staying with the Empire.”
She stopped. “What? I don’t hate you. I can’t say I understand your decision, but you left them all the same.”
“Then why do you go out of your way to treat me differently than them when you get the chance?”
“I’m still getting to know you, Crosshair. I only really know what your brothers have told me. Well, what Tech has told me mostly. I had asked him what I needed to know about you and he emphasized you like your space. So, I was making sure you get your space aside from my duties. I wasn’t aware it was going to cause this.” She gestured between the two.
He fell silent a moment, looking at her.
“So, that’s why. I didn’t intend on making you feel excluded.”
“I see.” He thought back to the little touches she gave his brothers and entertained the idea of telling her those would be fine, too, but he didn’t want to seem overeager for her attention. Instead, he turned and kept walking.
“Are you mad?”
He turned back a little. “I just have some things to think about.”
She opened her mouth to say something, then promptly shut it and followed after him.
They got to the village with a couple minutes to spare according to Tech’s last metrological report and she settled right in to treating wounds. Crosshair watched her work and his usual scowl softened. She was so good with people and made them feel important and listened to. Each smile she gave lifted his spirits. He took off his bucket to watch her better than through his narrow visor. The way she cared… he felt a warmth in his heart as she worked.
A local walked up to him and Crosshair pulled his attention from Ka’li. He faced the man, a scowl quickly pulled on his face.
“Your wife is a wonderful healer. We are indebted to you both.” The man bowed his head to Crosshair, catching him off-guard.
“She’s not my wife,” Crosshair snapped, a little louder than he had intended.
“Oh, my apologies. The way you look at her had me mistaken.”
“What way?”
“Like there’s no one else in the galaxy who you admire more. I had that with my beloved, and I hope when we meet again, they will be waiting for me.” The man walked away.
Crosshair blinked, slightly shocked. Was he that transparent about her?
Did she know?
Would she even want to know?
“Crosshair, come in,” Hunter’s voice over the comms broke through his thoughts.
Crosshair left the makeshift room, stepping outside. “Here.”
“The storm is nearly bearing down upon you. You need to try to get out of there in the next couple of minutes.”
“Copy.”
She was nearly done with triage and Crosshair fought himself over pulling her now. Surely, the last couple would be okay if he did. But he knew she would be upset when she was so close. What would the harm be in making her happy and helping them?
Turned out, a lot. The temperature dropped and storm had picked up. What started as light rain turned into howling winds and heavy snow flakes, falling fast enough that between two relatively okay patients, the ground outside was coated and the grass on the path was almost buried.
When she looked up from her last patient, her mouth dropped open.
“Cross, shouldn’t we have left a while ago?”
Happiness bubbled in his chest at the nickname from her. He said quietly, “You would have been upset if we left anyone.”
She blushed. “Maybe. But now we could be in trouble. Snow wasn’t in the original report.”
He relished in the blush she gave him. “We’ll make it.”
“Okay.”
“Go,” said the same man from before. “If you want to get back to your ship, you need to hurry. It will get very bad very quickly.”
Without so much as trying to find the village leader, they ducked out and started back the way they came.

Hope you don’t mind any ‘On The Bound’ lore questions but how do you think Mark would react to all the excessive bodyshaming Seb went through in the Ferrari era?
don't mind at all! i don't know how much more of it will get posted, if ever, so i'm happy to wordvomit on them anyday :)
rough timeline is that seb gets knocked up towards the end of the 2013 season and has the 2014 shitshow delivered in a completely different way due to an awful pregnancy. it's vague, i haven't rlly workshopped it or anything, so let's say that somehow, magically, ferrari find it in themselves to knock on her door and ask her to drive for 2015. and somehow, magically, seb says yes.
the thing is like. by the time the bodyshaming comes around, seb's already been crucified a million times over for how she looks, especially when she was carrying and gained weight. so it's not necessarily new comments that have her feeling like shit; it's the fact that they're coming out of the mouths of people she's trusted for years.
in 2019, she walks out of maranello feeling--confused, more than anything. because the conversation she overheard didn't sound mean-spirited. it was just a voice floating over from down the hallway, lighthearted as it remarked how she was a little fat before sweeping onto something else. like her body shape was the weather, sunny one day and cloudy the next.
she doesn't tell mark, not at first, even when the comments get nastier about her hair, and how it's not as voluminous or thick as it was when she was in her twenties. they're all arguably objectively correct observations, anyway. her body hasn't been the same since she gave birth, even if she's still fit--her lower stomach is a little flabbier, and her tits are a little droopier, and her ass makes finding a good pair of jeans just that much harder.
mark adores her still, though. he worships her and fucks her just as hard as he did when she was a lanky thing, and his opinion is the only other one she really puts stock in when it comes to how she looks. (the first, of course, being her own opinion.) it's easy to forget what anybody else is saying when he can't keep his hands off her, when he treats her like the sexiest woman in the world.
but then the nicknames start, and it's worse than the passing comments that are largely hidden from her. again, they're not necessarily mean. they might be read as affectionate, from a certain point of view. even so, seb can't help looking at her body in her white fireproofs and thinking that white doesn't do her curves any favours.
she doesn't even notice how bad things have gotten until it's 2020, desperately trying to find another team to take her on, and she's acutely aware of the way her thighs chafe under her ferrari-branded skirt. she doesn't think they chafed so much before, or at least she didn't notice it, but they feel rubbed raw now and distinctly, unattractively bulky in the short skirt. britta never seems to suffer from the problem--then again, britta's thighs never seem to touch, an idea that glides through seb's mind calmly before landing in some dark abyss at the edge of her consciousness.
it's mark who's the most concerned and can see everything for what it truly is. mark, who's been running dogged behind the scenes trying to keep the kids occupied while they struggle against the tide of the pandemic, just so seb doesn't need to worry about them in addition to everything else. mark, who's noticed the way seb doesn't linger on her appearance in the mirror for longer than a brief glance when she used to be so vain. mark, who's done all he can in his limited spare time to tell seb in his words and actions that she's the love of his life. she always laughs him off, but lately, she hasn't even been laughing--and she's so tired, like the entire world has fallen onto her shoulders. only the kids seem to ever coax a smile out of her.
when she finally admits that she might have overheard some people saying things, mark looks just about ready to set the entire country of italy on fire. he asks for specifics, but she can't give any. he asks for names, times, places, and she can only give a rough idea, because she's not--counting every instance she's felt a little bad about how she looks. she has thicker skin than that.
mark's rage almost makes things worse. while it's nice that he feels defensive on her behalf, she just wishes he'd stop pressuring her. she's facing enough stress from every other aspect of her life, and she doesn't need him chasing after ghosts that don't matter in the grand scheme of things. he gives up, because he can't stand to hurt her, but it doesn't stop the dark shame that seems to emanate from his wife like milk gone sour, and it doesn't solve anything except the immediate issue of seb wiping tears and snot furiously from her face.
aston martin is supposed to be a fresh start. it is, for the most part: new team, new factory, new friendships to forge, and new goals to chase after. they fumble almost immediately in their eagerness to show her off when she goes for her first seat fitting, however, and mark's dread only grows. she'd gone in trusting that they wouldn't take or release photos. they release the most unflattering photo a camera could possibly capture instead, and britta messages them almost immediately to turn their devices off.
seb doesn't falter until bahrain 2021. while the world erupts into a frenzy about track limits, she sits quietly in her new driver's room with the heels of her palms pressed against her eyelids, tucked securely against mark's side and feeling old. she doesn't know when she lost her ability to drive. she doesn't think she did--the machinery still feels like home to her, but she doesn't think she can keep blaming the car. it can't possibly always be the car.
it's like mark's deepest fears about the bodyshaming become true, because it's spread like a fungus and sown doubt into seb's mind about her capability and worth. that's the pitfall of shame, isn't it? that it goes from being a spot of embarrassment to everything you are and have ever been.
he doesn't save her--only she can do that, given time--but he holds her tighter, and whispers every sweet encouragement he can think of until she stops hiding behind her palms, at least. if he can't be her lifeline, then he'll be her anchor, and he'll hold on until there's nothing more of them but dust floating in the wind.

Hey! I love Bring Me A Dream! It's such a joy to read! I always look forward for the next chapter. I was wondering if our sweet dream and Corinthian would ever go to swimming? To the sea or a some pool? I feel like sweet dream would be really excited and would have lots of fun. And Corinthian would be sitting and watching her. Maybe he would be a little jealous of others' gaze.
Thank you so much for sending me this, I know its been a while, but I finally got round to writing something for it! I loved how cute it was, but also couldn't help but add in some antagonising, because I loooove writing scenes with him teasing reader 💕
Hope you enjoy ✨
(Let's say that this was set sometime after chapter 3)

A brief interlude: Sea Salt Caramel Shortcake
Series Masterlist
-🍰-
You couldn’t believe you let him talk you into it.
When you’d originally made your creation, you’d been ecstatic with them. Sea salt caramel shortcake. A new recipe that you took a gamble on. A treat that, once baked, had made you think of a hot coffee on a brisk day at the beach, or a day at the harbour, looking out over a saltwater-worn pier at a high tide. It was one of your more wholesome bakes you’d made since meeting your nightmare.
However, upon seeing you giving out your delicious treats to people that weren’t him, Corinthian couldn’t help but hatch a plan to re-center himself in your spotlight. He’d looked at you with a face full of mischief and nudged you with his arm, and whispered low in your ear. I have a plan.
And for some reason, beyond you, you gave into him. Though, you found yourself doing it more and more. Afterall, indulging him was working out for you, and it’d been a long time since you’d visited the dreaming.
And so you found yourself tailing one of the students you taught from the classes you volunteered at and waited patiently for him to fall asleep after his snack. Waited so that you could both follow him into the dreaming world. A place you’d never thought in your own wildest visions, that you’d be visiting with a nightmare in tow.
-🍰-
“Corinthian!”
“What?”
You looked over at him as he gave you one of his classically Corinthian smug grins, the ones where his lips would stretch wide with accomplishment. He was proud of himself.
“You can’t splash like that, we’re not meant to be noticed,” you hissed at him, looking pointedly over to the man who’s dream you were inhabiting.
“Well it hardly helps if you’re screamin’ at me, sugar,” he shrugged.
Ugh! Of course the nightmare was trying to disrupt the dream, as if his mere presence in a dream weren’t wreaking enough havoc. Typical nightmare, you thought, rolling your eyes. However, instead of engaging further with him, you decided to ignore his childishness and focus your eyes back to your feet as they swung through the warm water.
You were both sitting on the end of an old dock, trousers rolled up and enjoying the clear blue ocean as you looked out to your student on his white row boat. He was enjoying a date with a girl that you were sure you recognised from some TV show and was too busy enjoying her company to think about yours. Thankfully.
“You know this is really nice. Kinda reminds me of a little place in Greece that I visited once,” Corinthian sighed, leaning back and gazing up toward the sky. “Makes me want to travel again.”
“Oh yeah? I can imagine you fitting right in, in a place like this,” you mused.
And truthfully you could.
You could picture him walking barefoot in the blaring rays of the afternoon sun, a few buttons undone on his shirt as he carried his jacket and tousled his golden hair. He’d be like someone straight out of a film, the kind of man that you couldn’t help but stare at as he passed. More than likely he’d be wandering around with little care, on the hunt for some sea-faring fisherman to seduce or perhaps a pretty waitress from one of the many ocean front bars and restaurants.
“It helps being somewhere sunny you know,” he smirked, flicking his glasses nonchalantly. “Don’t get so many inane questions.”
Oh really?
“As if you don’t like the attention,” you snorted, giving him a sideways glance.
“Are you accusing me of attention seeking?” he said in faux shock.
“Mhmm,” you smiled, “hard to believe, I know.”
He shook his head and lay back on the dock, relaxing fully into the bumpy wood and exposing his full face to the glowing sun. He looked like his usual cover model self, ready to be swarmed by paparazzi at any moment. All sunkissed and relaxed.
“Gettin’ me worried that you might know me too well by now, sugar,” he murmured.
“Oh I wouldn’t worry about that, you keep me on my toes enough,” you remarked dryly, thinking about the times you wondered what he was doing when you weren’t there.
“Really?”
“Really,” you repeated, content enough to have him lying there and not terrorising your poor student on his dream date.
You could think of multiple ways he’d try and get himself into trouble while you were intruding. Had already considered the possibilities the moment you found yourselves on the peer, but you’d been pleasantly surprised that he was happy to sit with you and soak up your attention instead. Perhaps even a large part of you was preening over that, over the fact he cared for you enough to ignore his own nature. You mattered more to him than fulfilling his duties as a nightmare.
“You wanna take a dip?” Corinthian said suddenly, pulling you out of your reverie.
“What?”
“I said, do you wanna go swimming?” he asked again.
“Why would I want to-”
Before you could finish your sentence you found yourself being barrelled into the water below you, bowled over by the force of Corinthian as he pulled you into the sea. You shrieked as the water soaked through your clothes and caressed your skin. It bathed you in it’s rippling warmth.
“Why would you do that?” you huffed, glaring up at Corinthian.
Too busy being smitten with you to give into his nature, indeed. So much for that theory.
“I thought you said I kept you on your toes? You should've been prepared for that,” Corinthian laughed, tilting his head.
You fought every fibre of your being not to dunk his head under the water and dream up a weight to keep him held there. Not that that would do much. You can’t drown in a good dream, no, he’d probably be able to breathe under there. Nothing bad could happen to either of you while you were inhabiting that seaside paradise.
“Well maybe you should prepare to go without my baking for a while,” you shrugged, swimming away from him and out toward the horizon.
If you were already in the water, you might as well enjoy it, you thought.
“Now, why would you say something like that?” Corinthian asked, following along with you, paddling fast so that he could wade in front of you.
“Because you’re a meanie,” you said childishly. “Because you shouldn’t push people in the water when you don’t know if they can swim or not.”
“Aw, my poor little dream. Have you been in the waking world so long you forgot how dreaming works?” he teased, tilting his head at you.
You were about to respond snarkily until he disappeared under the water, leaving you staring out at an empty horizon. You sighed and looked down into the water, knowing that even with the lapping waves distorting his face, that Corinthian was smirking at you down there. He was waiting for you to follow.
You rolled your eyes again and crossed your legs, letting yourself sink down into the deep blue sea, letting yourself level off with your companion. Then, after a few seconds of doubt, you let yourself breathe in and knew your theory was correct. You were in no danger of drowning, not when you could breathe water just as easily as air.
“See? I’d never put you in any danger, sugar,” Corinthian chuckled, his voice just as clear as it had been when you were talking on the dock. “You’re always safe with me.”
You raised your brows, surprised that he wasn’t at all distorted by the sea. His voice came out just as smoothly as always did, pouring into your ears like honey. That essential part of the Corithian charm. It was a shame he was so endearing, you’d thought, it made him very difficult to stay mad at.
“Danger aside, I prefer not to be pushed into the sea fully dressed,” you snarked, gesturing slowly toward your soaked clothes.
“Well then why don’t you change into something more appropriate?” He grinned.
“Is this your way of catching me in a bikini?”
“Well you said bikini, not me,” he clarified.
“That’s true,” you agreed, rethinking his words, “I can think of way more appropriate things.”
You quickly thought up a far more suitable outfit and watched as Corinthian tilted his head, curious as to what you were doing as you flashed away for a second and reappeared. His face transformed as you came back and he tipped his head back, laughing like mad as he took in your old fashioned diving suit, complete with a coppery metal helmet and all.
“You’re such a nerd,” he snorted, looking you up and down in your new attire.
“What, you don’t like the new look?” you grinned, unsure as to whether he could see your face through the fogged glass.
“I don’t think it’s your best,” he hummed, lenses fixed on you as he peered through the metal mesh of your mask. “I prefer getting to see that pretty face.”
“You’re one to talk,” you replied, flashing back into your usual clothes.
“Oh?” He said, raising his brows.
“You’re the one that won’t show me your face,” you said, brushing your finger against his cheek.
You were surprised that even in the dreaming world, his glasses stayed fixed to his face even under the water. They sat as if they grew from him, as if he couldn’t possibly take them off. Though, you knew better. You’d heard the whisperings about the terrifying nightmare that Morpheus had dreamed up, the one with the teeth for eyes. He’d been the talk of the dreaming for quite a while.
“You really want me to take the glasses off?” Corinthian asked, voice as soft as ever.
“I would…but only when you’re comfortable doing it,” you clarified, not wanting to push him.
“Aw, my sweet dream,'' he grinned. “So considerate.”
You found your eyes rolling up to the watery ceiling, as you often did around him. However, when you looked back at him and saw him pulling his shades from his face, you jumped in shock and felt your mouth hang open.
Thank the gods that you could breathe underwater, you’d have drowned.
However, when Corinthian pulled the glasses away you didn’t meet his true face, and you knew it right away. You knew the minute you met two brilliantly shining blue eyes that regarded you warmly as he smiled one of his smug grins again.
As pretty as they were, they weren’t really him.
“Don’t you like my pretty face?” he asked, smile never leaving his lips.
“You’re such a nerd.”

Febuwhump Day 13: "You weren't supposed to get hurt"
CW: Blood, injury
(Loosely) continues Day 4
AO3
---
Zelda had lost track of how long they'd been running in what felt like a never-ending rainstorm. Her head was spinning, her sight blurring with exhaustion, Link's blue tunic the one fixed point in a world gone mad.
Link's burned, stained, bloody, torn blue tunic.
A Guardian had found them as they ran down the road south. Somewhere inside, Zelda was still clinging to the possibility that it wasn't all over. That maybe some of these things she'd hoped would be useful in the fight against Calamity Ganon hadn't been corrupted. She knew it was a foolish hope but she was always full of foolish hope.
She'd hesitated a moment too long.
Luckily for them both, Link hadn't. He'd shoved her out of the way of the beam and mostly deflected it with his shield, but the angle hadn't been perfect, the shield had shattered, and though Link had managed to close with the Guardian and kill it, it was clear that he was hurt. She could see it in the way he limped, how he was hunched a little around his ribs on one side.
This time he was the one who stumbled to his knees, losing his grip on her hand.
She was still the one choking on her tears as she knelt by his side.
"I… Link, I'm sorry, this is all my fault."
He shook his head.
"No, it is. I'm sorry… you… you weren't supposed to get hurt."
It was a ridiculous statement - he was her guard, after all; it was literally his job to get hurt instead of her - but it was all she could find to express the guilt and pain and horror that she was feeling. Her one real, true friend, who had been with her no matter how she treated him, whose loyalty and forgiveness she would never deserve… he hadn't been supposed to get hurt. She'd failed to save anyone else, but she should have been able somehow to save him.
He looked up, panting, a thread of blood starting to trickle from the corner of his mouth, and pointed on up the road, towards the stone wall of Fort Hatano just barely visible through the rain.
His meaning was clear, but she shook her head.
"Not without you. I'm not leaving you as well."
He gave her shoulder a little push and turned with a hiss to look back.
She saw them too: the glowing pinkish-purple shapes of corrupted guardians.
He pushed her again.
"Go," he said, his voice harsh from disuse. She was the only person he ever spoke to, and that rarely. The gesture hardened something in her.
"Not without you," she said. "I'm not leaving you. If we die, we die together."
He wiped the blood from his lips and nodded. She grabbed his arm and supported him as he stumbled back to his feet, trying not to hear the moan of pain that escaped him. He clearly didn't want her to hear it, after all.
Then, once he was on his feet again, they joined hands and ran on, eyes on that distant glimpse of stone across the rolling grass of Blatchery Plain. It wasn't so far. Perhaps they could make it. Perhaps it would hold back the tide.
Nothing else had, but Zelda still clung to hope, even foolish hope.
She'd given up praying for her powers to be awakened. Now she just prayed for one thing: that her last friend would survive.
One day, just maybe, her prayers would be heard.
