Day 29 - Secret Admirer
Fandom: Persona 5
Character(s): Makoto Niijima
Type of Request: 31 Days of Oc-Trope-R
Note(s): Makoto being a secret admirer to someone is such a cute concept ngl.
Tumblr media
It was another day and another of Makoto "reading" a magazine as she waited across from your locker to hear if you mentioned the recent gift from your secret admirer.
She's not in the same class as you, but you two have been friends for a while and she has (very obvious) feelings for you. Haru was the one that brought up how cute secret admirers are and so Makoto went with it because she doesn't have the confidence to confess to your face, at least not yet.
And so when she saw you walking over, the magazine went up to hide her face completely as she listened as you talked to another friend of yours. Makoto smiled as she heard you talking about the chocolates you found on your desk before holding back her sigh at hearing that you shared them with a close friend.
"I think you're pretty lucky to have a secret admirer," your friend says and Makoto smiles before it turns to a barely held back gasp at your response.
"I guess, but I feel a bit bad. I mean, you know I have a crush on someone else," you say, and Makoto wants to punch the locker next to her, but she holds it in.
After hearing your words, she somehow manages to stumble away as she tries to think about what you said. You have a crush on someone else? How long has that been going on? She's ready to have the self-doubt creep in, but she thankfully pushes it away and takes deep breaths to gather her thoughts and think.
Should she keep up the secret admirer schtick? She's been doing it for a month now. She hasn't heard or seen you looking annoyed with her gifts, but what if you're being polite? It's a tricky situation for her now that she knows your feelings for someone else. She ends up going to Haru for help.
"Oh, well the body would make good fertilizer!" Haru tells her cheerfully when Makoto mentions you said you have a crush on someone else. While concerning, it's nice to know how much of a ride or die Haru is. Makoto has to push aside the urge to mention some scientific facts about the human body to continue the conversation she wants to have.
"As tempting as it is to find out who the crush is, I just wonder if I should stop. Would it be suspicious if the gifts suddenly stopped arriving on their desk? But what if it has just been annoying?" Makoto asks, voicing some of the conflicting thoughts she had previously.
Haru gives a hum as she thinks, filling the silence as she continues watering the garden plants with Makoto helping when she can. "Maybe it's time to let them know that you're the admirer?" Haru suggests and Makoto hesitates a bit.
"I know I should, especially since I know the feelings aren't reciprocated." Makoto sighs and gives a bit of a wry smile. "Is it pathetic to be scared of doing that?"
"Of course not, Mako-chan! Here, I'll help you write the note to leave on this latest gift."
And Haru does and Makoto is very happy to have that support behind her because she doesn't know if she'd be able to do any of this without the help.
So now Makoto is waiting in the student council room. It's empty except for her. She was wondering if the library might be better or even somewhere outside of school, but the student council room is a safe space for her and she's comfortable here. The gift she gave you, something simplistic this time, had the note Haru helped her write to meet her here after school and she hopes you come.
She feels both relief and dread when you do. The dread doesn't last long, she knows that this is a conversation you should both have. Before she can say anything, you cut in.
"Makoto? You... You're not my secret admirer, are you?" She doesn't know if she should feel hurt at your question, but you don't look offended or upset that it's her. You do look surprised and she's not close enough to pick up on the fact that there's some hope in those eyes.
"I... I am," she admits finally. "It was easier to leave you gifts and messages on your desk instead of just talking to you. It's a bit childish, now that I think about it." She gives a smile at that idea.
"No, it was really sweet."
"I'm relieved you think so." And she is. It definitely helps with one of her insecurities of thinking she was being annoying. While she'd like to hear how you felt about her notes and gifts, she knows that getting to the point would be the best. "I heard that you have a crush on someone else. I hope my gifts, and such didn't get in the way or make things awkward for you," she says.
There's a pause from you and she is a bit worried with how long you're thinking up a response.
"Well," you finally speak up, "I do have feelings for someone... I just wasn't expecting that you were my secret admirer. You're always so cool and seem confident that the idea my crush is my secret admirer didn't even cross my mind," you admit, and she feels like now her brain is processing.
Makoto ends up chuckling at your words because this whole time she was telling herself that you liked someone else, and she did the same thing you did. She never thought your crush would be on her. And at voicing these thoughts, you laugh with her and she's feeling the happiest she has in a while.

thoughts on Free! Iwatobi Swim Club
by your one and only casual anime watcher, who is now dipping their toes in sports anime
god, free! was amazing!
it's been a while since i enjoyed an anime this much, and i think this proves that i should watch more sports anime. all of the ones i watched so far were really good (sk8 the infinity and yuri on ice), something is up with this genre
so anyway, free!. i love swimming and water so it was already an ideal premise for me. the characters are all super likeable and have different sides to them. i wouldn't say they are perfect, but what i can give them, is that they all feel like genuine friends, who enjoy spending time together.
REI WAS THE TRUE MVP. this boy saw that the other three had problems with rin and went "alright, lemme fix this" AND THEN HE DID!! nah, for real tho, i think without him, rin's reconciliation with the rest wouldn't happen. i appreciated that rei did this not only for the sake of his team, but also for himself. i also liked that he openly communicated: "i want to know what happened between you, i am a part of the team and i don't want to be left out". maybe i haven't seen a good anime in a while, but i felt like this openess was really refreshing. i love him sm <3
BUT, i was scared shitless when this mf SWAM OUT INTO THE OCEAN AT NIGHT??!?!?! LIKE BRO. at the start of their training camp i saw where this was going, but i calmed down after makoto reassured rei, i was like "phew, crisis averted" AND IT WAS NOT. they all could have died and i was not okay. and then they just forgot. about that traumatic experience. cool cool
really, every character has something that i like about them. but my favourites are definitely rei and makoto <33
rei cause he is a sweetie, who likes pretty things, is overly logical but very in tune with his emotions and cmon, how could i hate him. he is basically me (i want his glasses). and makoto, cause. ya know. have you seen him??? cutie pie lil blorbo (ᵍʳᵉᵉⁿ ᶜᵒˡᵒᵘʳ ᶜʰᵃʳᵃᶜᵗᵉʳˢ,,,)
and the ending, omg it was so cute!! i was so hyped! THEY WON, and then they got disqualified, BUT THEY WON FRIENDSHIP. seeing rin smiling again with his friends brought tears to my eyes
from supporting characters i rly like Gou and Amakata! Gou is just so determined, supportive and unwilling to give up – she wanted to see her brother happy again and she made it happen! what a good sister <33 for ms amakata i thought she was super funny and sweet. her not always accurate quoting, sunny demeanor and how dead set she was on keeping her past secret lmao
all in all, i enjoyed this series a lot! time for free! eternal summer hehe
peace outttt (❁´◡`❁)
(also, when i started watching i was like hmmmm, yeah haru and rin, then in the middle i went on ao3, saw the haru and makoto fics and was like "HE???" like i didn't think about them before but now i can't stop! but i ship both and also all three of them, that would be fun. in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter as much to me: i just enjoy the dynamics they have, regardless of if they are romantic or platonic; they all love each other is what im sayin <3)

“It's just too much to take, to must repair, oh no
Am I alone, are you there? Oh no
Will I believe, take me there? Oh no
Drinking you in, breathing your air, oh no “
Tumblr media
"Did you like it?"
"If I like it? I loved it! It's a shame we had to go back in only two days.."
"Next time, we'll stay 2 weeks, I promise, jagi."
"I don't care where we go, Seokjinnie, as long as we're together."
"Ugh, getting cringe aren't w- OUCH!"
"Call me cringe again and I'll hit the vital parts"
"aish, you shouldn't pinch a handsome boyfriend like me"
"hm... what do you suggest I do then?"
"Let me just unlock my door, and I'll show you some id--WHAT THE FUCK ARE YOU DOING HERE, JUNGKOOKIE?!"
Jungkook didn't move, even at Seokjin's screams. He decided to go to his hyung's house right after her visit and stayed there, lying on the couch for so many hours that he couldn't feel his back anymore. Seokjin put the bags on the floor and helped Haru with them, while the maknae remained lying down, looking at the ceiling.
"were you here all weekend?", Seokjin asked.
"Nope. "Jungkook grumbles, sitting on the couch and pointing at Haru."Actually, I was at your place on the weekend..."
"Wait... you were together??", Haru asked, in shock. Finally, some progress, she thought to herself.
Jin smirked at Jungkook, patting him on his back, proud.
"It's not what you're thinking, Hyung.", Jungkook clarified. "She needed me."
"I bet she did", Jin smirked again, smacking Jungkook's thigh playfully.
"That is NOT what you think, hyung", Jungkook glares at him and Seokjin looks at Haru, who also caught the maknae's irritation..
"What happened? Did you guys argue?"
Jungkook denied, shaking his head. "She actually kind of declared herself to me...", he arches his eyebrows, still confused.
"Then why the shitface?!", Haru teased, making Jungkook glare at her.
"Jagi, don't say that! ", Jin scolded her, but she just shrugged.
"It was too late.", Jungkook almost whispers. "I can't do this anymore. I gave up."
The room was silent, Jin and Haru looking at each other, wondering what to say about it..
"You guys don't need to get weird about it," Jungkook said, looking at the two of them. "It's okay. I'm fine, and she's fine too, and it's better this way. I've made my peace with it."
Haru was ready to say whatever was on her mind, but Jin grabbed her hand softly, signaling her not to say anything yet. He sat next to Jungkook, placing a hand on his shoulder.
"I'm really sorry, Jungkookie... if this is what will do you good then I wi-", Jungkook shook his arm, getting up from the couch.
"Do you think she was happy with me if she ran away every damn time, hyung? If she didn't even bother to go to my practices and was always making excuses not to have to be seen with me? Do you really think YN was happy?", Jungkook dared Seokjin to say something, but he didn't. "I've been more than happy with YN...  I could be happy with her the rest of my life because she makes me happy. But I don't want to risk making her unhappy anymore. I already insisted too much... she clearly doesn't want anything to do with me, so why should I punish her by insisting like that? I... I just want her to be happy, hyung. I don't want to think anymore that the reason she's the opposite is because of me. I can't be that selfish."
Seokjin just nodded and stood up. "I'll take my bags to my room and come back to help you organize your things, jagi. I'll be right back."
Haru smiled at Seokjin and he took the bags.
As soon as he closed the door, Haru crossed his arms and glared at Jungkook.
"You're really stupid, you know?", Haru laughed, making Jungkook even more angry.
"What are you talking about, Haru?!", he frowns.
"You know nothing about her. You know nothing about YN.", she states.
"What do you mean?"
Haru uncrosses her arms and points at the couch for him to sit.
"I can't say much 'cause that's not my place, but since you're getting on my fucking nerves and YN is too much of a moron to see how oblivious her ex-boyfriend is, I'm gonna give you a hint, Golden boy."
Jungkook kept his silence, ready to hear whatever she had to say. If it was about you, he wanted to know. "Why do you think YN has all this abandonment issues?", Haru starts in a low tone, afraid anyone else could hear, even though nobody else was in the place. If you heard her saying anything to this to him, you'd surely kill her. "You think is just coincidence? You never questioned why she never presented you to her parents? Never?"
Jungkook shook his head. He tried to talk to you about that once, but you just shut him down. "She told me not everybody had good parents once, but I never thou-"
"Yeah, you didn't." Haru cut him off. "And YN is a moron not to talk about that with you."
"Stop calling her that.", Jungkook warned.
"All I'm trying to say is that there's more water under that bridge, Jeon."
Jungkook looked at her, still not fully getting it. "What is it? Tell me.", Jungkook furrowed his eyebrows.
"It's not my story to tell, Jungkook."
"Whatever it is... why she didn't tell me? Why she can't trust me?", he just didn't get it. Was he not worthy of your trust? He didn't deserve to know about whatever it was making you miserable? He always thought he was respecting your space and your decision, but that was actually bringing you two apart, day by day.
"Imagine with me for a moment.", Haru calls his attention to herself again. "If you had a bruise on your chest that never healed, 'cause it was the type of wound that never could. And day by day, that thing hurt like a bitch, but you couldn't do a thing about it. Some days you woke up thinking you were all healed and fine, just to find out later on the day, that it was still there. Still open, bleeding, ugly and nasty... Would you bother to tell the people that loves you about the constant state of pain you are every day? Would you think is worth it? Would you be scared of pushing people away by showing the things that bring you shame? The things that hurt your deepest feelings? Would you risk their happiness and light heart just to share about your pain with them? Think about it for a second, Jeon." Haru got up, ready to leave. "It might not be the wisest choice you'd make, but I still think it is fucking amazing that somebody would even consider trying to spare me of that, even if I didn't want to be spared. YN is so good at making good choices when it comes to other people, but she's the worst when it comes to choosing happiness for herself. Luckily, she's not alone in that anymore.", Haru smiled at Jungkook, who was still processing everything. His mouth open and his eyes were fixated on a spot on the carpet, processing her words. "Luckily, she met a guy with a good heart and a lot of happiness to share with her.", Jungkook looks at her, and she's smiling. "I think YN is afraid you'd change who you are by knowing about her life... that you'd stop being this light person, all golden and stuff", she laughs, making Jungkook give a little smile. "But I think you can manage that, Jeon. And that's all I can say."

murder bfs au tag
Much like in canon, Makoto has been spying on the Thieves at Principal Kobayakawa's orders. She targets Haru as one of her suspects and tries questioning her, but she ends up invited out to tea instead. Haru and Makoto have tea together, and Makoto realizes that she must have the wrong person as her target and confesses she was suspecting Haru as a Phantom Thief. She apologizes for assuming something so terrible, and Haru says with a wide smile, "Oh! But I am a Phantom Thief! And say, I've been having a problem as of late, and perhaps you could help me with it." And Haru proceeds to drag Makoto to Mementos.
Haru explains her problem with being underpowered, and needing more power to keep leading the Phantom Thieves. Makoto is intelligent, so maybe she knows what she should do. Makoto, wondering if this is all some kind of prank, halfheartedly offers that returning to the place she first got her powers might help. Haru exclaims in delight that she must be right, and drags Makoto to Okumura's Palace.
In Okumura's Palace, Haru fails to Awaken to her powers fully and is defeated by the shadows. Shadow Okumura offers Makoto a position of power and promises to spare Haru if she simply steps in line. Instead, Makoto Awakens to her powers to protect Haru. It is Extremely Gay of her. Makoto and Haru barely escape with their lives. Haru feels guilty afterwards for endangering them both, but Makoto says that she owes Haru for making her realize her mistake in letting adults manipulate her. Haru insists on helping Makoto anyway, and Makoto admits there is a problem she's been having lately with a crime syndicate that has been targeting the students at Shujin. But when she looks up information online about it, she finds out that Kaneshiro is dead, and the rest of his syndicate is in shambles.
(With Akira's help, Akechi has been able to target many more people much more quickly, including Kaneshiro, who was becoming a problem to Shido by hoarding money Shido believed was rightfully his. Akira is the one to kill Kaneshiro himself.)
Makoto insists they prioritize Haru's situation above all else, and so the Thieves work together to change Okumura's heart. Haru's marriage to her fiance has been moved up because her father has sensed her rebellion and wants her completely under his control, and so they race against the clock to free Haru before it is too late. Haru finally fully Awakens to her powers, and she and Makoto become the Thieves' gay moms.
Unfortunately for everyone, Akira and Akechi are up to their own gay shenanigans. The two of them forge a plan in Leblanc while no one else is there to overhear them. Since Akira has been spying on the Thieves he knows they are planning to target Okumura next. Okumura is already a target of Shido's, since he's been abusing his Black Mask privileges and is becoming a threat to Shido himself. So, Akechi will kill Okumura, which will scare the Thieves off from changing any more hearts. The public will turn against them, and the Thieves will fade into obscurity, no longer a threat to Shido. They'll kill two birds with one stone.
Akira is uncertain--he doesn't want to kill Haru's father--but he knows this is the only way to save them. So he volunteers to kill Okumura himself, because if he's going to agree to this, he is going to bear the brunt of the moral burden himself or he can't justify it. And when the time finally comes, Akira kills Okumura's Shadow.
The plan goes perfectly. The public turns against the Thieves. Having only successfully changed two hearts at this point and without Akira's guidance, the Thieves believe they are at fault and they stop changing hearts--they even stop venturing into Mementos for smaller targets. At first, it seems like everything has gone according to plan. The Thieves are history, and Shido is--temporarily--happy.
But, of course, none of that is destined to last, as there is a certain gremlin hermit that overheard the truth who is desperate for her own change of heart.

Mishka refuses to go away lol
I realize I'm basically just emptying my brain on here at this point, sharing my thought process about Mishka and Nikolai, but anyway... If you're not into my ramblings, feel free to scroll past. I've put it under a cut for your convenience.
So, I think I've finally figured this out...
When Mishka comes to Japan to visit Nikolai, it's December (around Nikolai's birthday, which is the 18th). He's able to go there because he's currently on the short-term injured list and has gotten permission to travel during the few weeks he's not actively playing. Of course that means he can only stay in Japan for a short time... but what an amazing short time it turns out to be.
It's also around this time that Nikolai and Ginger are thinking that maybe they're meant to be together and decide to see how that goes. Mishka returns to Canada, with Nikolai making no promises about their future, but he's a hopeless romantic and an eternal optimist, so he hasn't given up.
This is Mishka's final season as a professional hockey player, and by spring, he's ready to retire and hang up his skates. He needs knee surgery that he's put off for far too long, and it's scheduled for late spring/early summer (think end of May/beginning of June).
By spring, Nikolai and Ginger have concluded that they're probably not meant to be a couple after all. They love each other deeply, and their connection goes beyond a typical friendship, but they're convinced they'll never get past being best friends. Nikolai realizes he thinks of Ginger in a similar way to how he thinks of Natascha, his sister. He would move heaven and earth for Ginger, but he doesn't want to be her boyfriend.
He realizes he loves Ginger, but he's in love with Mishka.
He and Ginger have a long, serious talk about it, and he discovers that she feels the same way about him. Originally, she thought there might be something more, but like him, she doesn't want to change the nature of their friendship. She doesn't have any siblings, but she says if she did, she'd want a brother just like Nikolai. Neither of them feels hurt or disappointed by their decision, because there's nothing stopping them from continuing their friendship. They can still be together as much as they want, with no relationship obligations tying them down.
They decide to keep their "breakup" a secret from Anya, so they don't tell anyone except the people closest to them.
And then Nikolai receives a message from Mishka, telling him about his surgery. Mishka's going to have to be off his feet for a while, but the problem is that he has no family in Canada and no friends close enough that he feels comfortable asking for help. Luckily, it's the off-season for figure skating as well, so Nikolai is free to go home.
Nikolai, who's still homesick after seven or eight months in Japan, is desperate for any excuse to go home. Eden isn't so keen on the idea, but he can't imagine causing a scene over it because that would just make Nikolai feel worse. As a favour to Nikolai, Ginger offers to let Eden train with her while he's gone, if Eden doesn't want to go home as well.
In the end, Eden decides to go home too, to be with his parents and sister. He's not happy about leaving Charlie and Haru, but it's not as if he isn't coming back. (Mishka pays for Nikolai's airfare, and Eden's parents pay for his).
Nikolai has no idea what Mishka is going to need, and he's never really had to take care of anyone to such a full extent before, but he's determined to do his best, whatever is needed. Nikolai and Mishka decide that Mishka should stay at Nikolai's house because Mishka lives in a walk-up flat above a shop. At Nikolai's place, the guest room is downstairs, and there's also a complete bathroom on the ground floor, so it'll be much easier for him to manage.
Mishka is dramatic about being in pain, so the first several days are difficult. Fortunately, there are lots of people they can call on for help, including Beth-Anne and Natascha, and Nikolai's grandfather who absolutely adores Mishka and spends hours just sitting with him and reading to him while Nikolai trains with Eden, runs errands and gets stuff done around the house.
Once things settle down, they find that they're able to focus on reconnecting.
Mishka doesn't want Nikolai to return to Japan, and deep down, Nikolai doesn't really want to either. Unfortunately, Nikolai doesn't feel like he can make that decision on his own. He promises Mishka that he'll come back as soon as he can.
Tumblr media
I've actually been thinking about how Mishka might be a study in contrasts to some degree. I think he fits that old meme 'looks like he could kill you, but is actually a cinnamon roll'.
Physically, he's a big person; not just tall (193cm) but also really broad and muscular. He looks intimidating, and is the sort of person who other people generally give extra room to pass on a sidewalk. But, the thing is, Mishka is actually very quiet and gentle and he's shy to the point of being timid. He may be assertive on the ice, but in everyday situations he's easily intimidated and not always confident.
Based on physical appearance alone, one might assume that Mishka would be the protector, but it was actually Nikolai who more often protected him. Mishka is the one who panics when he gets lost or hears unexpected loud noises, and the one who wants to rescue all the stray animals and who cries at sad movies. He loves to cuddle, and finds it regrettable that he never gets to be the little spoon.
He likes to claim that Nikolai "rescued" him, and thinks they were destined by fate to be together.

AAAAHHH !! YOU ANSWERED !! i literally squeaked when i checked your tumblr to see that you did !!! such a shame that the setting sourebook doesn't cone in english, but i definitely will be buying!!
oh! and, i appreciate you being willing to tell me about ryu and haru! but can i instead learn about ren? ever since i read your ryu route analysis, i've wanted to learn more about the younger mochizuki :]
sorry about the big ask, and thanks in advance!!!
No worries about the ask! I'm always more than happy to talk about NTY!!! because aaaa I love this game so much. ;_;
Going to put this under a cut because Ren's section has a little bit of heavy stuff, but it's not as bad as Haru's section (which is incredibly NSFL). Ren's section also talks a little bit about Kaori as well, and their dynamic is really, really sweet!
Warning: Contains references to CSA, child abuse, sexual assault and rape. Taken straight from the sourcebook.
To start off, Ren was raised by just his mother, who was a prostitute and wasn't exactly the best example of a loving mother. Ren was bullied in school a lot for this. Other students would insult his mother and insinuate that, because she has sex with a lot of men, Ren, too, must be sleeping with them. He got into fights all the time because of that, and his experience with these bullies was the foundation for his very distasteful feelings toward men.
Unfortunately, his mother eventually got a boyfriend who was also not a very good person. One night, when Ren was in his late-teenage years, this boyfriend snuck into his bed and molested him. Ren took a beer bottle and smashed it over his head to stop the assault, but his mother was enraged and kicked him out.
Ren eventually wandered off and found himself in a hostess club. There was a very kind, beautiful woman there with big breasts who welcomed him. After Ren had spent quite a bit of time drinking, he opened up to her about his life and cried. Much to his surprise, the woman cried as well, and immediately told him, "I will be your family, then!"
... Of course, this creeped Ren out and he thought she was kind of crazy, so he ditched her immediately and resolved never to go back. Who in their right mind would even say something like that to a guy they just met?
At some point, Ren got into a fight with a bunch of guys and lost terribly. They held him down, and a different young woman ended up raping him that night. However, Ren refused to fight back. He thought that, if he refused, he would be seen as gay. He developed a severe defensive response to being assumed gay because of his experience with bullies and his mother's boyfriend. And so, he let it happen.
(Amemiya, the director of NTY!!!, notes that Ren isn't really affected by his rape by the woman and has just brushed it aside. This contrasts with Ryu and Sorato, who have significant trauma and gynophobia because of their experience. It should also be noted that Ren is actually heterosexual, but while his defensiveness at being assumed gay is somewhat understandable, his volatile response is moreso linked to his issues.)
Ren, defeated, eventually returned to the hostess club. The hostess he ran away from never held it against him and welcomed him into her life with open arms, adopting him as her little brother.
This hostess' name? Mochizuki Kaori.
Unbeknownst to Ren, Kaori had a similar childhood. She was molested by her stepfather in the past and ran away from home at the age of 16. She ended up with a boyfriend who was into some shady business, and, one day, she and that boyfriend were targeted and shot by criminals who had it out for the guy. She was saved by Inui Kouichi, and they became good friends. Kaori eventually left her boyfriend and met her future husband, Hagiwara, who loves her dearly and would do anything for her.
It was initially awkward living with Kaori. Ren would turn red and get a boner every time she hugged him because her breasts would push up against him, but after some amount of time, these feelings subsided when he began to truly see her as family. Kaori basically saved him, and that's why he's protective of her.
Kaori eventually introduced Ren to Kouichi, who hired him at sótano as a bartender and a private investigator. Ren has some respect for the old man because of his connection to Kaori, but he ultimately views Kouichi as "too soft." That said, he still obeys his orders.
However, he was immediately awestruck by Kurosawa Ryu, who he views as the only competent man at the bar. He's everything Ren wants to be—cold, composed, ruthless and intelligent. Of everyone at sótano, Ren respects him the most and would follow him without question. He trusts Ryu so much, he even opened up to him about his past. Ryu, seeing himself and his sister in Ren and Kaori, also told him about what happened to Ai. Ryu has a particular soft spot for Ren, but he's also more strict with him than Hiroyuki because Ren keeps getting into trouble with the police by fighting with other guys.
(Funnily enough, after Haru had him drugged and shot him in the arm in the climax of Ryu's route, Ren woke up in the hospital with no memory of what happened. He said to Ryu, "Something complicated must have happened." Ryu vaguely agreed and didn't even mention who shot him or tell him the events that transpired. Thanks a lot, Mr. Kurosawa.)
It should be noted that, due to his childhood, Ren is particularly knowledgeable about the poverty industry and how society preys on the weak and the poor. Despite his harsh, cynical and unfriendly attitude, he's a good guy deep down who also doesn't like injustice. In a sense, you could say he's very much like Hiroyuki in his direct, headstrong approach to issues, and it's why Ryu worries about him just as much.
Some minor trivia about Ren and Kaori that I found interesting:
He really likes rock and visual kei music. Amemiya notes that he tends to really get into the music and "sing with aggressive arm movements" at karaoke bars. Kaori, on the other hand, likes pop music. Her singing prowess is on par with Ryu, who is described as a very good singer, while Ren is just average.
Ren is trying to make himself healthier meals. In the past, he used to survive on things like burgers and spaghetti, but he's learning how to cook.
In Ryu's route, after Kaori's pregnancy announcement, she quits her job as a hostess and becomes a dedicated housewife.
It's noted that Kaori is the only woman Ryu trusts, and this is shown in-game when he rescues Yufumi from the orphanage and hands the little girl over to her.
Ren and Kaori have tried smoking at some point in their lives, but they quit because it was too gross.

In pursuit of Olympic dreams by ladyzeia [M, 44 chapters, 588,5k]
Rin returns to Japan with one goal in mind: Rio. He's got it all planned out—kill it at the Olympic Trials, make the National Team, and—in Rio—show the world. Falling in love, though? That isn't supposed to happen…
+ Artwork by Yohao88
I swear I'm gonna try to make sense here but nothing I say will actually make justice to this beautiful story, so bear with me.
I couldn't start talking about this fic without praising the amout of energy and research the author clearly put into this, it's just stunning! It's an alternate universe that centers around 2016 Rio Olympics and the whole journey until we actually get there with Rin and Haru it's absolutely amazing. I'm not going to get into details so I don't ruin the story for anyone but as a brazilian person, the moment in which they get to Brazil and not only make effort to communicate in portuguese but also explore the tourist locations, visit a Rio favela and connect with local people... it's breathtaking, I tell you.
And for the story itself and Rin and Haru's relationship, it's just beautiful. The author couldn't have captured their personalities (and development) better, in my humble opinion. We see them growing together and changing and being afraid and being absolutely in love without actually losing themselves or turning into completely different people. No, they're still Rin and Haru. And the way she connects all of it with the places they get to know together, I have no words, but this snippet here pulled heartstrings I didn't even know I had and I think it sums up what I'm trying to say:
More and more, Rin found his eyes drifting to Haru during the performance, watching the spark in blue eyes and the rapt attention.  It filled him with pleasure that Haru was enjoying this.  I know you could’ve been happy, never leaving Iwatobi.  He knew the cost; how hard it was at times for Haru to be here with him, away from friends, family, and everything familiar.  Rin cherished the moment—one in a series of many now, glimpses of the wider world that Haru actually liked. “Rin.”  Haru pulled him close without taking his eyes off the dancers.  “Do you think they have samba lessons in Japan?”
Again, trying not to talk too much and give away spoilers, so I'm just gonna say that their relationship dynamics was mesmerizing. The way Haru is so silently confident and certain of what they have but still have moments that we just stop and think "ok he's a person too, he has his vulnerabilities just like anyone else" and how Rin learns to accept difficulties and change the way he sees his life and future plans inbetween his insecurities, I fell in love all over again with their relationship because of how this is so in character.
Also, if you want to read it but you're not really into M rated fics, there's a T rated version on ff net. But I have to say that, particularly, I think the mature scenes are also fundamental for their story. They're not really descriptive and the focus is always on Rin and Haru's trust and feelings for each other, so they're mostly very sensual and intimate and emotional, you should definitely give it a try if you're not completely uncomfortable with sex scenes, but I'm sure the T version is just as beautiful.
This is already too long and it doesn't express half of what I felt, but I'll leave anyone who wants to read it to feel for yourselves now, it was worth every minute.
Bonus: the artwork at the end is just as incredible as the story, I spent whole twenty minutes freaking out over them.

NORAGAMI CH 100 THOUGHTS
guys I'm crying I'm genuinely crying actual tears. I was gonna make a "surprise, bitch. I bet you thought you'd seen the last of me" joke but it's no time to jokE. TOO MUCH IS HAPPENING.
And as a lot of people saw coming this appears to be the final arc🥲 it's sad but I'm glad that the story seems to have been allowed to run its natural course and adachitoka got to tell the story they wanted to tell (and boy, what a story). Bittersweet, but let's all enjoy this final arc together! I'm terrified!! What on earth is going to happen!!! How do all the loose ends get tied up????
anyway we're here and I am back on my bullshit under the cut...! Be warned: This is a long one.
(I went off about Father and his children again please someone take the keyboard away from me)
-
Sakura is the tree of spring, huh?
as you may imagine I AM UNWELL
fast-moon dropped this one while I was on a date and when I saw that notification I had to stop, process it and explain to my date what was going on because that is how much despair it caused me. (And I hadn't even read the damn thing yet)
Why is it only now clicking for me that there is a CLEAR OBVIOUS MEANINGFUL RELATIONSHIP between the names Yuki / Haru / Sakura.
Smarter people than I probably have and will speak more (and better) on everything going on with names and wordplay and Yato fighting and being nearly killed by Yuuki on the same hill where he buried his body and letters, but I will just say that it hurts and it made me cry ambiguous, confusing, sad-happy tears.
That entire section looked so pretty and Yato and Yuki looked so tiny and I'm just🥺
Yato with the GRAVE TALK. He is dangerously close to fucking around and finding out. (O como decimos en mi rancho, a dos de acabar muerto por jugarle al vergas)
SHIIGUN IS BACK BABY BOY IS HERE I LOVE HIM LOOK AT HIM GO
why are those dragon ayakashi so cute i want to keep the tiny one as a pet.
BISHA
SHE
WHEN SHE AT THE
WHEN SHE
Nyappy's Kuraha theory is gnawing at the edges of my sanity again it would seem (please will someone bully me into finishing that damn ficlet wip before the manga literally ends)
"The same as me not wanting to use Kazuma" Oh boy. Oh man. Oh honey you got a big storm coming.
OH NO NOT IMMEDIATELY
Kinuha beloved I missed her<3
Kitty cat. Kuraha prefers to be a lion than a human confirmed.
Tumblr media
Ah yes, finally some good, old-fashioned, straightforward punches directly to the gut. (also that panel is just beautiful, man)
Oh don't come now with the "you'we impowtant two me" shut the FUCK up, old man. Boo fucking hoo your child you abused doesn't love you:( too bad so sad suck it up worstie<3
Ok now that that's out of the way. He makes a valid point- from his point of view, at least. From what we have seen of his backstory, Yato was created by a wish born of his deep feelings of injustice, of being left behind to die by the world and the gods ("You were my prayer"). TO him, Yato has always been a tool he had a right to, he deserved, to "cull the herd", to take back the power he believed was for him and taken away. Yato was Father's lifeline in a similar fashion as Father was his. He was his precious means of justice until he wasn't anymore. And he loved him in the same sick and twisted way he loves Mizuchi for very similar reasons. Again from what we know up until now, I fear it might be all he knows, love for someone as a means to an end; but I'm afraid we just won't know that until we learn more about his relationship to Kaya (vibrating with excitement As We Speak).
Oh no. Ohhh no. There is so much to unpack from Nora and Kazuma at the end oh NO.
Hey yeah remember that old theory I had that got debunked a bunch in the last couple of years where I talked about hafuri being immune to GGS and roped Kazuma into my examples? well lookie here guess we'll find out sooner rather than later won't we? :)
Tumblr media
I mean, Kazu is like double-sealed though so it should be fine, right?
Right, guys?
Nora baby honey child PLEASE I'm so sorry you have been made to feel this way. It hurts my heart that it's all she knows as well. She only knows how to be a tool, and that's the entire meaning of her life- the only way she understands love, just like Father. Her father gave her a name and a purpose, and that is the most important thing to her; she will go to the ends of the earth and betray everyone and everything else because that's her father. He basically made her. But child, please, that's not it:( I want her to go back to Hiyori and learn what unconditional care and love is please:(( Get yourself an older sister like Yuki did I prommy there's more to existing than just being used and thrown away every time:(((
So yeah! i leave you with your monthly(!) reminder that trash dad is uh. huh. maybe leave father and son be for the time being actually they seem to have some issues to figure out.

im sorry to bother you but may i ask for Haru x a male reader whos shy, dorky, and has anxiety? thank you
You’re no bother at all, I’m more than happy to fulfill this wonderful request ^^ thank you for sending it in! It’s a bit short but I hope it’s to your liking, also my apologies for the long wait ^^;;
Haru is quite possibly the best person to be around if you have trouble with anxiety in my opinion,
Her warm embrace, her eyes which hold nothing but adoration for you, her calming voice that could coo one to sleep without her needing to talk for very long, all of which was saved for you.
Should you feel that you are a bother, Haru would waste no time in politely shutting down that train of thought.
She loves you, the you which includes all that you consider flaws.
Haru loves to hear about your interests no matter how niche and unheard of they may be.
Secretly she misses a time when she could talk freely about whatever came to her mind to her father, and thus these moments between the two of you are something she cherishes.
She often finds herself looking into the topics you talk to her about so she can make it more comfortable for you to talk to her about them.
Although Haru isn't the most assertive person, she attempts to be one and encourages you to be as well. She doesn't push you too much but just enough to break you out of your shell and put yourself out there.
After all, she believes you deserve to shine.
Regardless there have been countless times where a moment between you has resulted in a shyness overload.
One attempting to be bold, just to end up with the both of you left a blushing mess.
Still, to Haru, she’d have it no other way.

Sylvia sits at the kitchen table with her father and brothers, she promised she'd talk about the letter from their mother this morning, and Apollo wasn't sure if she'd be alright talking alone.
Tumblr media
"So... Mom wants to talk about something, I'm not sure what. But I'm going to go to Splatsville alone and meet her there."
Apollo frowns, he knows he can't change her mind.
Tumblr media
"...Is Mom... mean? Like... neither of you like talking about her, and Sylvia just...
Apollo sighs, guess it was his turn to explain.
"Your mother... She wasn't the best person for you three to be around, and that's my fault. When I met her, I thought she was a kind person, loving and happy... But that just wasn't the case, and I should have been able to protect you..."
Tumblr media
"Dad..."
Tumblr media
"Zach... You don't remember how you damaged your limb, do you?"
Tumblr media
"No... I just remember waking up in the hospital with it damaged and the other one gone..."
Tumblr media
"Mom was supposed to be watching us that day while Dad was at work, and instead she was neglecting her duties as a parent. You got into the tools in the shed, and I remember hearing you screaming and crying... I've never been so terrified, I didn't know if you were gonna make it or not..."
Zach instinctively touches his damaged limb, he doesn't remember the day but he does remember Sylvia sitting beside his bed in the hospital so he wouldn't be scared...
Tumblr media
"That's... really scary..."
Tumblr media
"Yeah... I remember calling Dad in a panic because I didn't know what to do..."
She frowns, looking at Haru.
"You don't remember her either, do you?"
Haru shakes his head, he has vague memories of going to bed and someone singing when he couldn't sleep but...
Tumblr media
"...Did you used to sing for me when I was a baby or was that mom... Cause that's all I really remember..."
Tumblr media
"Ha... That was me, yeah. Mom... She didn't care, you were a lot sicker as a baby, like, a lot. You hatched earlier than you should've, and spent a lot of time in and out of the hospital. And to her... I don't know, she just didn't want to spend her time time taking care of us..."
She leans back in her seat, she's done talking about the past for a bit... She didn't want to keep focusing on it... Apollo looks at the boys.
"...You know that what happened... none of that was your fault right? Anything that happened was a result of your mother not being the parent you deserved..."
Haru and Zach looked at each other, soon nodding.
Tumblr media
"...It's not something nice to hear, yeah but... Well, we have you as a good dad, and Sylvia as a good sister... Honestly, I've never felt like I was an issue, like yeah I've felt bad being in the hospital and stuff but... never felt like you blamed me for it..."
Tumblr media
"Yeah. I mean, I always felt happy and loved to be in this family. I mean... Yeah I wondered about why we didn't have a mom like some other people but... I didn't mind."
Sylvia smiled, this was a huge weight off her shoulders. There was still a lot they hadn't shared with Zach and Haru, but it was a start. At least she knows the two of them were okay.
Tumblr media
"Good. I think that's a good stopping point for a while... How about we all go out to eat? I don't feel like cooking."
Tumblr media
"Yes! food time!"
Tumblr media
"We get to pick the place!"
Apollo chuckles, guess the talk went well if Zach and Haru are already back to their usual selves...

13, 30, 31?
13. what’s your opinion on the dr 3 anime?
30. which character would've deserved to survive?
31. is there a character you think who shouldn’t have survived, but did?
spoilers, obviously
13 - as mentioned in the tags, i, don't particularly care for SDR2... despite my appearances, and fixation on sai/ou, i lean towards GL and HL, and the most of SDR2 gives me for those is kuzu/peko, and... well, chapter 2...
and the anime, kind of obliterates the - themes, arc, intent behind chiaki. kodaka has hisssss waifu biases (this happens with haru, too) - and the cast's induction to the remnants is, weak, and i am a MASSIVE sucker for brainwashing, so me going 'meh' at it, says, a lot.
altogether it soured my... already soured feelings on SDR2. there is a lot of interesting concepts here, but, the only character i feel was executed well in the SDR2 portion of the anime is ryota. who is a new character. i love him and his relationship w twogami is amazing, etc. so, uh, despair arc. is bad and boring and was painful to sit thru.
future arc! i like it, honestly, even if it's another 'mrhghg this is cool in theory but done really poorly,' and honestly i really think. a lot of things introduced in dr 3 come to fruition in v3. i joke that, 'kodaka just wanted to work on v3, but they made him make an anime,' and i'm PARTIALLY kidding. and the best episode of dr 3 happens during this - altho it's not on the cast, either, it's the udg episode, and it blows the rest of the anime out of the water.
tl;dr Haha This Sucks, Man. this is an anime you can only watch w/ someone else, i feel, otherwise you'll go crazy. i like ryota and miaya a lot, i genuinely enjoy ruruka... in HPA aus, i make a point to, include ryota. my special hikikomori boy.
30 - mmmm not sure. i think, tojo - she shouldn't have survived into endgame, no, but one of the reasons i am so aggressively MEH abt her is that, she doesn't have time to develop or shine. she is, nothing, and the translation treats her motivation as a cheap joke. politicizes it. fun fact, the guy who handled the monokubz, and by extension gonta n angie, is the same guy. yeah, that guy. =_= responsible for a lot of the very shitty decisions in the localization. if SC thinks it's ok to make her primary motivation as a joke, why should i take her seriously?
i think she should've survived until ch3, to have some time to flesh things out. she shouldve been a bit undecided abt, you know, betraying her classmates. she should've become a temp antagonist, especially since she tries to set ouma up as untrustworthy and thus unreliable for his testimony in the trial - and she is very, very angry at sai, and gaslights him to hell and back. and it's EFFECTIVE. w/o momo, sai would've crumbled. give me, more of that, dammit!!! GOD!!! but no, so i am just.. ugh... tojo, right. i always forget abt her while doing cast stuff.
hoshi, i think, is another obvious 'I WANT HIM TO LIVEEEEEEEEEEE' but i don't know how well that would've worked with the ult. ending and intent of v3.
uh... mmm... thh, i don't really know... haha. i actually quite like, hifumi, but he was nevverrr everrr gonna survive. too bad...? some of the joke characters im like. Wait, I enjoy them, give me more, and at least hagakure survives!!! i'm happy abt that!!!
31 - unpopular opinion incoming, but i don't think any of the survivors were 'undeserved' - while i quite... dislike SDR2's cast... they made the right choice of who got out of the game alive. i wouldn't change any of them there.
for THH, i, mmm... i never quite 'clicked' with togami. he's fine... i suppose... but i don't find him and his attitude quite as compelling as ouma. nor komaeda's, who i am so, 'I AM SO OVER THIS GUY, EVERYONE STOP FUCKING TALKING ABT KOM!!!' about, lol. maybe he's more basic bc thh is, at its core, a very basic story... it was the first, and in a game series that afaik was not Planned to have sequels etc.
v3 literally all of them deserved to survive. i like each and every one of them. i am glad that yumeno didn't have, the pitfall of, 'suffers massively but grows bc of x's characters death, only to die later,' like ishi and hiyoko did. she's lovely, i really do think she is.
haru... haha, i... do like her... totally not in the way kodaka intended, but i was like. OHHH OK HARU IS WAY MORE COMPELLING when i realized that she and angie are narrative foils. that opened my eyes to her character - i appreciate her a lot more now, and the line abt saihara realizing 'do you want to die' always being a joke made me smile. i also think fandom shows her a LOT more aggro than she is - her first, chokehold, was instinctual fear. "everyone is scared of her," once they know her talent, as she says. and in a death game... ofc her first reaction would be of panic... and the second - ffs, ouma just threatened them with a bomb! this girl does not hate ouma. she is the second to last, second to kiibo (WHO, IS A STANDIN FOR THE AUDIENCE, SO LIKE-) to finally be Done with ouma's bullshit. she loses her cool when ouma injures momota for the 2nd time. ETC ETC. and, she has to be deliberately manipulated, by shirogane to actually kill ouma. she does not for real hate this guy, she would not bully him in school, or try and get saihara to break up w/ him. lol
while kodaka's waifuism really shines thru her (he got angry that she wasnt ranked high in popularity, if you didnt know...) i think there's a lot to love abt her, even if it takes a bit to think abt. the things i appreciate abt her probably don't appeal to others. so, yeah!!! i like that she survived!!! i'm glad that she got to - live, and not as the ult survivor for 54... that she steps into the world with sai and yumeno. she is friends with saihara on her own, i'm glad that they have e/o, after everyone else... and that yumeno isn't alone, herself.
saihara deserved to survive end of story like beyond '(real) protag plot armor' - which ALSO isn't true, kiibo is the FOR REAL protag in the eyes of the meta audience - his arc is very grueling and long. it may not be.... that super in depth, but he is not this emo depressed boy who listens to MCR, either. he has a lot of trauma prior to the game - ppl don't talk abt his scopophobia often enough, and the 'eyes on him,' and the - the perjury, effect, has a bunch of eyes, investigating, judging you... while it is the same for aka - come on. it is very clearly intended to show sai's fear of the truth and of lies. he goes thru a lot of twists n turns, and it would've, killed me if he died... or, at least, if he died and the others had survived. either all of them die, or he has friends... which he does...!! altho the epilogue was SUPER CONTROVERSIAL in house, lol.

Sims 4 Fontenot Legacy - Sigrid's (and Anya's) Birthday
Tumblr media
Morning arrives at the Legacy House, and it's a day Sigrid has been dreading for quite some time: her birthday. For most sims, a birthday is an exciting endeavor, but for Sigrid, it's a reminder of how fleeting time is. Knowing she'll likely have to put on a brave face for most of the day, she spends the early morning outside on the porch by herself, reflecting on everything.
She can't help but think over the entirety of her life, especially those lost along the way: her parents, sister and brother. They missed so many milestones, both their own and others in the family. Death being so frequent in Sigrid's life, it's no wonder she grew into a gloomy sim with a fear of death. For Sigrid, Grim always seems to be hiding just around the corner.
Tumblr media
Alma: Hey, Mom!
Sigrid is jolted from her thoughts by the sound of a familiar voice.
Audrey: Happy birthday, Mom!
Okay. Make that two.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Alma: Happy birthday, Mom!
Sigrid: Oh- what's this?
Alma: A gift!
Audrey: From both of us.
Alma: But it was my idea.
Audrey shoots her sister a dirty look.
Sigrid: Aw, you two are the absolute best! Thank you so much girls.
Alma: Don't mention it.
Another dirty look from Audrey.
Audrey: You're welcome, Mom.
Tumblr media
Once the girls head off to school and Robin to work, Sabrina takes Sigrid out for a day at the spa. They don't often get time alone, just the two of them. Sabrina thought it'd be nice to treat Sigrid for her birthday and allow them some casual cousin-bonding time.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sabrina: Ah... this is the life, yeah?
Sigrid: I have to admit this is pretty nice. Can't remember the last self-care day I've taken. Chasing two girls around doesn't always allow for ample me-time.
Sabrina: Trust me, I may just have Juno but he runs me ragged. Between him and the restaurant, I'm always a little all over the place.
Sigrid: How is the restaurant doing, by the way?
Sabrina: Honestly, pretty good. I've got a good team and the customers are steady. It's not easy being a businessowner, but it has it's perks. I can customize my schedule and make time for Juno and things like this, which is great.
Sigrid: Yeah, it seems really nice to be able to work for yourself.
Tumblr media
A comfortable silence falls between the two for a moment.
Sigrid: You know, now that the girls are in school and Robin has his new job, I've been thinking... maybe it's time I create a career for myself.
Sabrina: Oh yeah? What do you want to do?
Sigrid: I think... this. I always loved playing spa with my siblings. Harley hated it, but he dealt with it for me. I think if I can hone those natural skills, it could be a good way to earn a little cash here and there, and it'd be fulfilling because I'm making sims feel confident and beautiful.
Sabrina: Sounds like you've been thinking about it for some time.
Sigrid: Yeah, well... I never saw myself as just a housewife. I'd like to have something for myself. Now that I'm entering a new phase of life, I want to take more control of it. Do things that make me happy.
Sabrina: As you should. You already know Robin will be your biggest cheerleader.
Sigrid: Yeah. He's adorable.
Sabrina laughs.
Sabrina: Ah, well good to hear that your love has stood the test of time.
Tumblr media
The duo wrap up with a little sauna time, which proves to be beneficial for both of them! Sigrid never realized how much she needed a relaxing day out, but the time out definitely helped her feel a lot better.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
And after Robin gets off work, he and Sigrid meet with Anya and Haru for a celebratory dinner! The two birthday girls are more than happy to see each other and happy to have a buddy to traverse into the next stage of life together with -- one that includes extra fine lines, gravity taking its course, and hot flashes. So many hot flashes.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
The two couples even managed to get seated and dining within two sim hours! (a major feat I'm not sure how I pulled off 😵‍💫)
Having a calm evening out without the kids and celebrating the end of their once plentiful youthfulness while looking towards a future with hopefully much more wisdom was just what this group needed.
Tumblr media
While the men take care of the tab, the girls get a moment outside to get some fresh air and chat.
Anya: Well, this certainly has been nice. No kids, just us adults. And now, I guess we're really adults.
Sigrid: Trust me, my knees are already feeling that title.
The two giggle.
Anya: No, but seriously, I can't believe this time has come. You know, my mother's life was so short. She missed out on things like this. She and my stepfather could only dream of what we have.
Sigrid: I know the feeling. Getting older always scared me because it always felt like I was simply getting closer to the end. I don't want to live in fear, though. I want to live. For my girls, for Robin, and for me.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Anya: You know, it's really nice having someone around who understands just what I've been through. I mean, I have Robin, but he was too young. Plus, boys.
Sigrid giggles again.
Sigrid: Well, guess we can feel good knowing that we'll always have each other.
Anya: You're my sister for life. Don't think you can ever get rid of me!
Sigrid: Wouldn't dream of it, sis.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
After saying their goodbyes, Robin and Sigrid head home.
Sigrid: You know, I really did have a good day today. No, scratch that, it was a great day.
Robin: That's great to hear. I really tried to corral the girls into doing their part, and Sabrina was more than happy to have an excuse to not head into the restaurant for a few hours.
Sigrid: And the choice of dinner was also great. Seriously, Robin, you've made this birthday so much bearable for me. I'm not exactly thrilled to be getting older, but the future doesn't seem so scary anymore, and a big part of that is thanks to you.
Robin takes Sigrid's hands in his.
Robin: We've been together for many years now. We've celebrated and mourned, watch each other grow as individuals and create a family together. Some sims might wonder, "do they ever get tired of one another"? As a teenager, I couldn't quite imagine what this far in the future would look like for me, but teenage me would be so ecstatic that it ended up like this. From the moment I met you, I knew that no matter what else happened, you were going to be part of my future.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robin: Well, I got you one more little thing.
Robin pulls out the classic rose, reminiscent of their first date together. Sigrid's eyes light up.
Sigrid: Ever the romantic, even all these years later.
She takes a deep inhale, enjoying the scent.
Sigrid: It's lovely, Robin. Thank you.
Robin: Anything for you.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Sigrid: Will you ever get tired of spoiling me?
Robin: You kidding? It's my life's mission. Spoiling my girls, especially my special girl.
Sigrid: You are... the greatest man I have ever had the pleasure of knowing. When I first met you, I felt safe for the first time in my life. I could allow myself to not think of the future as dark and scary and see the potential in it.
The space between them begins to close.
Sigrid: Maybe as a teenager you couldn't see the future, but for me, you were always my future.
Robin nuzzles closer.
Robin: I love you. Forever and always.
Sigrid: Forever and always.

For prompts, I saw a one word one sentence challenge on tumblr or whatpadd, I'm not sure but it would be nice to see what you do with it for harugou :)
I think I did something similar to this a while back! Found it, edited it and posted it on AO3, and below of course!
HaruGou: Drabbles By Confused Panda Bear Chapter 36: Just One Read it below or on AO3.
Skirt Gou spreads her hands over the back of her pleated skirt before she bends down to gather her things, and Haru thinks to himself: why are the girl’s summer uniform skirts so short? – though what baffles him the most is why he cared
Nap Haru’s not sure how this has happened, but she’s fast asleep with her cheek pressed against his shoulder, and he doesn't dare move until she stirs awake and wipes at her eyes and blushes through an unneeded apology.
Chill She wakes with a start when the bed sheets are pulled from her shoulders, though Haru’s body quickly compensates for the loss of warmth when he drags her close and whispers thickly: “wake up, Kou – I want you again...”
Movie “Ariel is an idiot–” Haru concludes after his first viewing of his Gou's favourite childhood film, “–why would she ever want to leave the ocean?!”
Popular Haru should have known that she’d have other friends – they had nothing else in common besides Rin and the team – but it still pisses him off more than he expects it to when Makoto says to him one day: “Gou-chan is pretty popular with the boys from her class, neh Haru-chan?”
Jacket She could have never predicted that there could be so much rain in the middle of summer – or the way Haruka took off his jacket and draped it over her shoulders and told her not to get a cold.
Drunk “You’re wasted, Haruka-senpai,” she says, disgusted even though she knows full well he only drinks like this after they've had a big fight; and instead of words, he meshes a hand in her hair and kisses her hard, and his lips are like something of an apology even though they taste like that last shot of whiskey he downed to forget about her.
Name He wouldn't admit it to her because he'd never hear the end of it: but there’s no better feeling in the world – yes, even better than swimming – than having Gou lie beneath him, with her hair spilled across his pillow and her mouth rounded to the shape of his name.
Confession Rin’s left eye twitched – “So…you and Haru are…?” – Jesus, he can’t even bring himself to say it, and the pink that creeps across his sister's face is all the answer he needs to storm into the other room with Gou following after him, shouting fearfully:  “Onii-chan, please put down that lamp!”
Breaking Haru thumbed over the buttons of her cellphone number but froze just above the sixth digit because Gou always said that he was never that good on the phone and Nagisa had warned him against it earlier, telling him that: “he’s a pretty nice guy, Haru – and Gou seems really happy with him too, you know?”
Spy He tries to be as quiet as he can, but the floorboards creak under his feet and give away his position – “Haru!” Gou gasps, but rushes into his arms all the same, “you know it’s bad luck to see the bride before the ceremony!”
Jealous Haru planted a hand on the tiled wall by her head, his heart still racing from that last lap against that Samezuka captain Gou had been ogling at all afternoon: “you like me, right?” he spoke with such disconcerting candour that she could only bring herself to nod in response – “then only look at me.”
Ache He was in too much of rush before; he had been too rough with her, as if he didn’t have the time to appreciate her like he wanted to, and glancing at her now with lust-filled eyes that she almost panicked: “Haru, I'm a bit–” “–I know, you’re sore,” he whispered soothingly, “it’s okay, I just want to look at you, that’s all.”
Beach “Aren’t you going to swim, Haruka-senpai?” Gou asks after an hour or so of lounging around on the sand, but he rests his chin on top of her head and answers with complete and utter indifference: “hmm...maybe later.”
Special Gou remembers their first time well because Haru had rushed to the convenience store right in the heat of the moment and returned with a box of foil packets and glow sticks which he carefully lined along his bedside table – dim, rather pathetic hues of pink and blue which she had adored but he had looked down on in dismay, saying: “the store didn’t sell any candles – I wanted to make tonight special but I really didn’t think this through.”

part 2 (tba)
folklore masterlist
--
Todoroki Shoto and Y/n Bakugou are-- or rather, were pro heroes. After winning against the villains in the battle of Musutafu, the two high ranking heroes decided to step down and move to the suburbs to start a new chapter of their lives.
Moving to the Hyogo Prefecture never seemed so bad. It took them 7 years to finally settle and adapt to their new living situation. The pair is now living in their cozy suburban home with their six year old twins, Haru and Ren, and their dog, Sparky.
The first few years of Y/n and Shoto living in Hyogo have been normal. Though it seemed too normal for Todoroki's liking.
Everywhere you go, all you can see is the joyous grin of happy go lucky citizens of the prefecture. Not once I'm seven years has anyone had a bad day. If it wasn't suspicious enough, every time Todoroki reached the last street of the prefecture, the locals in there doesn't seem so well. It was as if they were robotic zombies that were mind controlled. Not to mention, it looks like there's an energy barrier separating Hyogo from the rest of the world.
Given the circumstances, Todoroki decided to conduct a further investigation.
Curiosity killed the cat, an old saying that pertains to nosy people that gets into trouble because of what they found. And that is exactly what happened to him.
If Todoroki wanted to keep his happy life with his wife, kids and his dog, he should never have investigated further. He should never have wanted to know what is out there somewhere. If he wasn't the curious cat that he is, then maybe his life would have stayed the same. But then again, being oblivious would do you no good.
~
Floating saucers and self wiping napkins seemed such a normal occurence in the Todoroki-Bakugou Household. You were lost in your own little world, watching the chores do itself, with a little help from your telekinesis.
Living in Hyogo seemed like a dream. You live with your husband, the twins and your older brother. Though you have no idea why one day, he just showed up at your doorstep acting all weird and sketchy. He was the Bakugou Katsuki but something changed in him. His usually scowling and frowning self was replaced. It was as if he was a replica of the happy go lucky citizens of Hyogo. You brushed it off though, he was being weird, but he was still your brother. Although he was being undeniably creepy with his unusual smiles and giggles. Lastly, he even bonds with your husband now, unlike before where the two would basically try to kill each other every chance they get.
You were smiling remembering how giggly and soft he was to your kids until a thought crossed you mind.
You have no idea where it all went south with your husband. Just a few days ago, everything was fine. He was himself. He was normal. But after a few days of him 'patroling', something changed. He had been distant, not only to you but also to your kids. He would always leave early and come back late at night when he thought you were already asleep and you'll feel the bed dip beside you.
Your train of thoughts was interrupted by a loud scream coming from your neighbor/bestfriend's house. You didn't let a second pass and you were already running towards the house where you left your kids to be babysat so you can spend some alone time with your thoughts.
Knocking harshly on Momo's door, she opened it gently with a grin on her face. She wasn't her usual self though. She wasn't as cheeky and her usual neon outfit is now a black long sleeved dress and her hair looked like it hasn't been brushed in a month.
"Y/n! I've been expecting you, what took you so long?" she said cheekily, caressing the holland lop bunny, Mr. Fluffy, on her arms.
"Where are my children?" you asked as you eyed her suspiciously.
"Oh darling! They're in the basement, playing." she giggled before directing you to the basement and you followed her reluctantly.
When you reached the basement, shock washed over you as you observe your surroundings. The light was dimmed and the walls are etched with inscriptions you couldn't quite decipher. Your mouth fell open and you didn't have enough time to run as the basement doors locked itself.
You turn your gaze back at Momo as your eyes flashed red in which she laughed maniacally. "Oh honey, my thoughts aren't available to you. You can't read them, can you? They never ever were. So don't go giving yourself a migraine. We've got work to do! "
"Where are my children?"
"Where are my children?~" she mocked. "Oof."
"Where are they?!" you demanded as you try to use your quirk against her but the usual scarlet energy is no where to be found. You looked at your hands aghast, as you began to back away.
"Oh, your magic's no good here." she said before she, herself, used magic and the next thing you know, you were levitating in the air with your hands behind your back as if it were restrained with invisible cuffs. You groaned loudly as you wiggle and struggle to breathe. She raises her hands and began to drag you towards her. "Didn't you notice? Basic protection spell, one on each wall?" You began to look around the basement with wide eyes and your gaze fell on each purple luminous light at the top of every pillars. "These are runes, Y/n. In a given space, only the witch that cast the runes can use her magic. How do you not know the fundamentals?"
"Who are you?"
"Who are you?! All those costumes and hairstyles." She sighed. "I was so patient, waiting for you to finally reveal your true self. I got close with fake Bakugou."
Your breath hitched at the mention of your older brother's name. "What do you want with my brother?!"
"Brother? Oh Y/n, it's quite humorous how you finally can't tell the difference between illusion and reality. He's dead. Your brother is dead. Fake Bakugou was just an illusion." She laughed boisterously as tears began stinging your eyes.
"It was you?"
"No, it wasn't literally me. Just my eyes and ears. A crystalline possession. Necromancy is a non-starter since your brother is in another prefecture buried six feet under. Not to mention, full of holes. But you were so crippled with your own self doubt that you believed it." She pouted mockingly. "Oh, Y/n. When I sensed this place, the afterglow of so many spells cast all at once... Oh I couldn't make heads or tails of it."
"How dare you use my brother against me?!" you screamed at her with such hatred and she only laughed at your face.
"Oh poor little Y/n, you got blinded by your feelings and emotions. You could've taken over the world if you wanted to yet here you are, playing house." She clicked her tongue as she gives you the stink eye. Her eyes fell on the sight of a cockroach and she plucked it from the concrete and laid it in her hands. She began to cast a spell and the insect levitated just like you did. "Mind control. A classic. Quick incantation and a feeble psyche and you're good to go." She flicked the cockroach and it landed on your cheek. You immediately zipped your mouth and shut your eyes and you shivered from the feeling of it crawling in your skin. "Thousands of people under your thumb, all interacting with each other according to complex storylines. That's something special, baby." She said as she swatted the cockroach away from your face and held it in her palm. "And of course, there's transmutation." All of a sudden, the cockroach turned into a black little crow. "Years to achieve, even the smallest convincing illusion. But Hyogo is through your lens, Y/n. Every little detail in place down to the crown molding. You're even running illusions miles away at the edge of the prefecture! Magic on autopilot! What's your secret, sister? Listen, I need you... Hey, Y/n, I need you to tell me how you did this."
"I didn't do anything. I'm not--" you failed to finish your sentence as you were snagged into the wall multiple times making you grunt in pain before Momo finally stopped and looked you dead in the eye.
"I tried to be gentle, to nudge you awake from this ridiculous fantasy, but you would rather fall apart than face your truth. You left me no choice." She lifted your chin with her pointer finger, "What is it that you said to your not-brother. All you could recall was the feeling? You felt empty. Alone. Endless nothingness... Let's start there. It's been fun playing pretend for a while, hasn't it, Y/n? Now it's time to unlock some reruns."
The sound of door opening caught your attention. Suddenly, you were free from her magical grasp and your body came in contact with the ground.
"No."
"I'm sorry? Did you forgot who got your children stashed in her bewitched basement?"
Screams and cries of your baby boys began echoing around the place but they were nowhere to be found, "Mom! Help. Mommy! Help us!"
You stood up frantically and she dragged you towards the door. The sight inside caused your heart to stop beating. It was you sitting you the floor with Katsuki as children in your childhood home and your parents laying on the couch laughing with the both of you as you watch sitcoms on the television.
"Oh. Charming house. Why are we here?"
"Mama..." You muttered as you tried to blink back tears from the heartwarming view in front of you.
"The Dick Van Dyke Show... Starring Dick Van Dyke." You hugged your knees close to your chest as one of your favorite tv show began playing.
"Papa... Katsu..." Your eyes are stinging with tears as a smile crept into your face but a sound of a snap of a finger brought you back to reality and then it was all pitch black and you were in another setting.
You were now lying in a cold ground almost lifeless with fires surrounding you. Sorrow, and helplessness filled you as you try to stand up but you cannot. You were crying as you try to find someone alive when a hand grabbed your arm and dragged you away from the scene.
"Y/n!" Katsuki shouted as he wrapped your arm around his neck and helped you stood up.
The both of you tripped as you ducked when a large piece of concrete almost hit you. The villains would never stop until the very last breathing person was dead.
You held Katsuki's hand in yours as you shut your eyes and began muttering to yourself, "At the end of every episode, it was all a bad dream. None of it is real." Holding your breath, you tried to wake up from the nightmare but a sudden force held your left ankle and you were dragged away to another setting.
"What happened there, Y/n? " Momo feigned concern.
"We... We were trapped." You whispered exasperated.
"For how long?"
"Two days."
"Huh. So much trauma, and yet you were safe as kittens the whole time." She began walking back and forth remembering your memories, "So what I see here, is a baby witch, obsessed with sitcoms and years of therapy ahead of her. Doesn't explain your hijinks. Where did you get the big guns, Y/n?"
The setting changed again and you were now in the one of the most awful places of your childhood. The events that caused you the most painful memories. When you were strapped in a bed at a laboratory owned by All for one. Numbers of mad scientist injecting different serums inside your body. It was agonizing. You and Katsuki were treated like lab rats. Test subjects.
"No! I don't wanna go back there."
"Oh but angel, it's the best medicine. The only way forward, is back."
You walked away and relive your experience as a lab rat for the godforsaken villains. From being injected to being isolated as you watch sitcoms on the provided crummy television in your cell.
Momo appeared behind you and leaned close to your ear, "Things are adding up, buttercup. I have a theory but I need more."
Another snap of Momo's finger brought you to a change of scenery. It was you but much more recent. You were sitting on the bed all alone.
"So where is this? The heroes compound?"
"It was the first home Shoto and I ever shared. Katsuki just died, I was in the city, I was all alone."
"Todoroki?" You said as you sensed him on the other side of your bedroom door.
"I'm sorry-- I didn't mean to intrude. Well I suppose, yes, I did intend to come in here."
"And now?"
"And... Well, whatever is your preference."
You patted the seat beside and called for him. He sat on the mattress with you and watched the tv show you were so enamored with where the man in the television was hammering a nail when the whole wooden infrastructure fell on him.
"Is it funny because of the grievous injury the man just suffered?"
"No it's not. He's really just injured. "
"Oh. Y/n...I would presume I don't know what you are feeling but I would like to know. Should that be of some comfort for you?"
"What makes you think that talking about it would bring me some sort of comfort?"
"Oh-- I--"
"The only thing that would bring me comfort, is seeing him again."
"I'm sorry. "
"No, Todoroki, I'm sorry. I'm just... Tired. I feel like being washed by the waves over and over again... Every time I try to stand up it just knocks me back down."
"I'm sorry Y/n. I'm not really sure what to do. I've never loved someone so I don't know how painful it is to lose someone. But what is grief if not love persevering?"
The whole conversation between you and Todoroki led to laughing and cracking up from the sitcom you were watching.
Momo has tears in the corner of her eyes though you have no idea if it was genuine or not, "So to recap, parents dead, brother dead, Todoroki dead?"
A tear slipped passed your eyes as your knees weakened making you fall on the carpeted floor. Your shaking hands all clammy and knuckles turning white as you sob pulling on your hair. Realization washed over you forcing yourself to be brought back to the harsh reality that you no longer have anyone. You no longer have anybody. You would give everything you have to live in your illusion once more. To sleep with the love of your life, to hold his cheek, to be kissed lovingly by him, to cook breakfast for him and your children, to goof around with your brother, to see the smiles of your kids, you would give up everything to relive those stolen moments. Everything.
The realization of no longer having anyone hit you like a truck. You cry to yourself as you mentally curse whatever is up there. The Gods, the universe. What have you done to deserve such cruel reality. You sacrifice your own life to save others, you put your life in the line in order to maintain peace and happiness and this is what you were given in return? The pain was too much to bare. It was more than agonizing.
"What happened when he wasn't there? What pulled you from the darkness?" you looked up at Momo with swollen eyes and tear stained cheeks.
"I can't do this anymore."
"Come on, Y/n! You're on the precipice. You are right there! Tell me how you did it." She walked behind you and placed her hands on the blades of your shoulders, caressing it with such gentleness. "Todoroki is gone. But you wanted him back."
"I wanted him back..." You whispered as you were brought to another memory.
It was you striding inside the hospital using your quirk to force the doors open. You were bleeding yourself to death as you just came from the battleground, you had a busted lip, a cut on your cheek, a broken arm and probably a broken nose but you didn't care because all of it wouldn't matter if Todoroki is dead. You went directly to the morgue and your heart dropped at the sight of your lifeless lover. He was the only one you had left. You wanted him back. You needed him back.
You hugged his cadaver close to your chest as Endeavor stood outside looking at you with such concern. He walked inside and tried to pull you away from his deceased son but you tried everything in your power as you wiggle out of his grasp crying for Todoroki.
'At the end of every episode, it was all just a bad dream. None of it is real...' You fooled yourself
"Y/n! Stop this! You're being hysterical. Stop causing a scene."
Registering his words, the sadness in your eyes morphed into rage as you lunged towards him.
"Is that all you care about?! Your son is dead! He's lying there lifeless and all you care about is me causing a scene?!"
"Will you stop this nonsense?"
"No!"
"Then I'm gonna have to ask you to get out."
An offended expression took over your features, "Are you serious? I'm his wife!"
"And I'm his father."
"Since when? Since when were you a father to him?"
"Y/n. Please leave." he said sternly.
"Fine." You walked out of the hospital furious leaving a dumbfounded Endeavor behind.
You got inside your car and drove away as fast as you can.
After hours of driving, you arrived at the Hyogo prefecture. It was a peaceful place, no more villains, just happy people and quiet lives. It was perfect. Perfect for you, and perfect for Shoto.
You stopped at a vacant lot that has an unfinished house with hallow blocks scattered and poles standing. You got out of the car with a paper on your hand. Walking around the place with a dingy aura surrounding you, it contrasted the genuine smile on your face. The skies were somber and gloomy but you smiled to yourself as you look at the said paper. Though it was a plain looking real estate brochure, there was a heart drawn in it with words written inside.
'To grow old together. -S.'
You hugged the brochure as close as possible as you fell on your knees. You gripped harshly on the grass as your eyes began to well up for the thousandth time that day. You sobbed loudly and people walking by started to give you distasteful looks but you couldn't bring yourself to care. Your sadness from his death and your anger towards the world collide. Scarlet hues of powerful energy began divulging out of your body as you stand up to release more. All the locked up emotions broke free as you scream your lungs out and the mixture of red and scarlet hues got released from you like a wild caged animal. You were blinded by your rage and sorrow, the crimson energy began taking over the whole town-- no, it was too powerful that it took over the whole prefecture.
Everything that was once somber, was warped into something so joyous and bright. Just like how you wanted it to be. The unfinished house you once stood turned into a fully furnished suburban home and you tried everything in your power to bring the love of your life back. Your back was arched as you scream painfully and more energy was released from your body. A few more seconds after, you successfully got Shoto back. You smiled to yourself as your wobbly legs fell on the floor. You stood up exhausted as he smiled softly at the sight of you.
"Y/n, welcome home."
A tear of joy strolled down your cheek as you walk towards him and cupped his face on your hand before leaning in for a sweet passionate kiss.
You watched the scene in front of you with a melancholy heart until slow clapping sounds brought you back to the actual reality.
Momo was looking at you a bit amused, "Bravo, my dear." And with that, she disappeared.
You tried looking for any signs of her but there are none. That was until you heard painful cries that sounded like your children.
"Mom! Mom! Help us!" "Mom! Help!"

Harry apparently unknowingly became Wakui's accomplice in hurting me because this song reminds me sm of the Akashi siblings.
As it was
"Haru-nii" senju speaks timidly, hiding her frame behind the wall, peeking out with her jade eyes to look at Haruchiyo sitting alone in the courtyard.
"what?" even though his voice is laced with irritation, an undertone asking her to leave and not mind him is no where to be heard.
"I'm sorry.." now standing right behind her brother, she has a dam threatening to break through her eyes. Takeomi had once again scolded Haruchiyo for the mistakes of Senju and she feared that if this continued her brother would never talk to her again. It was common sense that she should apologise even if it was too late.
Haruchiyo glances at the little sister who stood not too far away from him, head hanging low and focusing all her power into grabbing the edge of her t-shirt. A heavy sigh leaves his lips and he's already motioning her to sit beside him following a "c'mere".
He moves the pad of his thumb gingerly to wipe the tears brimming her eyes, patting her cheeks slightly after that. "It's alright.... that's what big brothers are for" He smiles fondly in spite of feeling his chest tighten. Drawing their shoulders closer he points at the sky. "Listen Senju, you're my little star okay." the young girl looks up at her brother in anticipation, eyes glimmering as they reflect the innumerous orbs of light. "Even if we get seperated, know that I'll never hate you. Know that your light will always save me."
Now, did the little girl understand the depth of that? Probably not. But the fact that those meaningful words were directed at her made her feel special, made her feel like she should never give up on that promise. A surge of glee eradicating even the slightest bit of dejection that she had spread through her entire body. Throwing her hands around the older's neck she screams "yes!" a little too loud to be appreciated in late night hours.
Aaaand here comes Takeomi.
----
Senju wakes up in her bed, beads of sweat tracing her forehead and falling down on her neck making her uncomfortable. She gets up and looks out of the window only to find a cloudless prussian blue canvas adorning her view. It was too early to start the day but also too late to go back to sleep. Well, even if she wanted to sleep she couldn't after that dream. It was not exactly a nightmare, so she should call it a happy dream... right? it was a dream about one of her best childhood memories yet her mind failed to feel at ease. It was today that Toman was to face Kanto manji gang, today she was going to face her brother.
She wonders if reaching out will be enough to have him back. Will he extend his hand too? Or will he throw away all they had? It's late, she knows. She should've apologised back where it all started, but she can't simply admit her mistakes now and expect everything to back to how it was, now can she? Not now that her brother has already been punished in her stead, a permanent mark of fear to some and a reminder of guilt to her, gracing the corners of his mouth.
She ponders over the words she should say. Was there enough words in this world to convey what was needed? She's sure there are but none that she knows of.. none that fill her with contentment. She had to let her brother know how much she needs him, how much they want him. It doesn't matter if he no longer holds the same identify, he'll always be the older brother she has looked up to. He's loved. She wants him to know that he is irreplaceable and she'll stay and say it as many times needed.
Senju walks up to the window and watches the leaves rustle lightly in the breeze. The dark hours hold a solemn beauty, she thinks. Her thoughts get preoccupied by her brother again. Has he spent sleepless nights like this too? Does he think of them or is it just her? Was it their favourite movies that reminded him of her or was it the hallucinogenic pills he takes? She's really afraid to ask him about his addiction. She's not afraid of him, she's afraid of discovering a new mistake. She's afraid she has contributed more to her brother's state than what meets the eye. Is she even-
She smacks both of her cheeks to break herself out of those negative thoughts. Hanagaki promised we'll set things straight! I must not worry! She assures herself and after a gust of wind fans her face, cooling her neck and combing snow pink hair out of her contours, she opens her eyes to look up at the starry sky.
Takeomi will stay at home, waiting for the return of both his siblings. Atleast that's the plan. She knows her Haruchiyo wouldn't react too positively to seeing Takeomi, and the eldest sibling knows it too so he reckons the job be done by the youngest Akashi. She knows deep down that even though Takeomi makes no effort, he too wants Haru to come back. "As long as he's well." He says.
Senju sighs and stares at the glittery sky, trying to name a few constellations. She spots 'The Orion' , the 'Ursa Minor' anddd..... uh that's it. Shortly after giggling at her own failure, she gets back to admiring the twinkling heavenly bodies with a subtle smile draping her lips.
You are my star. The loving words of her brother ring in her ears. Your light will always save me. She's not scared anymore. Today she'll fight with all she has to protect the future of her loved ones. Senju sucks in a breath of determination. "Haru-nii, wait for me. I'm coming to save you."
