Can I please request Sukuna and reader picking up their child from preschool? It can be anything, fluff or angst, its up to you!
Love your work and keep it up <33
thank you for requesting and i'm so very sorry that this took a billion years to complete... i just now finally thought of an intriguing way to do this request <3
some warnings: fem!reader, major character death, ooc sukuna, major angst, modern AU, sukuna and reader have a daughter
good things never really last.
well, at least that's what sukuna believed before he came across you. you and your delicate expressions and equally as delicate affection and warmth, which seemed to wrap around him constantly, even when he tried to avoid you at the beginning of all this, all because of his own uncertainty and his rather skeptical outlooks on the concept of love.
he's always been self-centered-- so the idea of his life becoming centered around anyone else but himself, frankly, scared him a little bit.
but, putting that aside...
a high pitched, overjoyed squeal rings out from inside the daycare centre, and a little girl comes running into your open arms, embracing you with the overflowing energy that little children always tend to have. you lift her up with ease, smiling as she giggles from the gesture.
"mommy!" she says, nuzzling her soft, tiny face against yours without much care for being gentle. someone else trails in from behind, feeling a little left out from this reunion.
"aren't you forgetting someone here, princess?"
sukuna also makes his entrance into the centre, walking towards the both of you. your tiny daughter gasps, and flails her arms out towards the big man.
"daddy!! you're here too?!"
"that i am, sweetheart. happy to see me?" he takes her away from you, holding her as gently as possible with his large hands.
"uh huh," she nods with enthusiasm.
"of course you do. my little girl."
the sukuna of the past would've never fathomed having a future like this, where he'd be handling a child of all things with such care. it's really different when they're your own flesh and blood. he's adored her like no one else. ah- well- no one else but you, that is.
he carries her to the car, while you take your daughter's bag from the daycare teacher, who waves you off with a couple of words of goodbye.
the ride home is nothing short of cosy and cheerful, with the happy singing of your little girl coming from the backseats, and the laughs from you as you listen to the way she mispronounces a lot of the words in the song. sukuna drives wordlessly, with a gentle smile on his face.
the skies happened to be so clear that day, with not a speck of a cloud being sighted within it.
some time after arriving home, you began to languidly start your work in the kitchen, preparing dinner that also turned out even better tasting than usual, that particular night. you always felt the happiest, when sukuna praised your cooking, especially as someone who you knew had very high standards when it came to food.
and miraculously, once dinner was all finished and your daughter was all dressed up ready for bedtime, she managed to fall asleep a lot faster than most evenings, leaving you and sukuna with quite a bit of...freetime.
you lay on the mattress under his sultry gaze, as he undresses you carefully as though he were unwrapping a present, trailing soft kisses down the side of your neck. you're as beautiful as the day he first met you. this was the most perfect end to the most perfect day in his life.
too perfect.
...
he should have been suspicious, with the way things were getting so blissful in his life-- his life that had previously been so rocky and turbulent.
was this supposed to be punishment for his sins? for all his arrogance and selfishness? the heavens decided to grace him with the feeling of genuine love and its reciprocation, only to then tear it away from his hands once he'd started to take it for granted.
...it was an unforeseen accident. could've happened to anybody. why did it have to be you?
good things never last.
sukuna drops the home phone immediately upon hearing the news, and hurriedly packs a small bag for his daughter. he drops her off to her friend's house, who is a long term neighbour of theirs. then makes a beeline towards the hospital, speeding past every red light that dared to try and stop him.
yet, that was all for naught, as by the time he'd arrived to your bed at the hospital, you had already taken your last breath, and said your final words. which he couldn't hear for himself.
'please tell them that i love them'. that was apparently all you tried to say. sukuna is made to sign some documents on your passing, and shortly after, they give him some time to spend with your lifeless body. he is then sent home.
he arrives to see some mail that had been slipped in through the front door. notifications of fines, for crossing red lights multiple times and going against speed limits. nothing but a reminder of his failure.
he tears the letters into pieces, and sits himself down on a chair, where he hangs his head in silence, without bothering to turn the lights on in the house.
and all of a sudden, he becomes so very busy, in the following weeks.
caring for his daughter alone. preparing for your funeral. accepting your death.
grief is such a strange, and horrible experience. all this love he has for you. where is it supposed to go now?
the night after your funeral, he's sitting alone at the dining table once again. he can't stand the bedroom. not when it's become only his now, and no longer yours as well. sukuna hasn't slept well in a while.
small footsteps resound against the floorboards, and he looks up to see his daughter standing meekly a distance away from him.
"what's wrong? had a bad dream?" he asks, with the most gentle voice he can muster in his current condition.
"...no. i just had a dream about mommy," she confesses tearfully.
"why can't she just come back? i miss her."
too young to understand the concept of death.
"oh, sweetheart... i miss her too."
she begins to cry, and he gets up to comfort her, as if the one needing the most comfort right now isn't himself.
they huddle and sleep together that night, in attempts to replicate your warmth. the warmth of a mother. and the warmth of a wife.
-
since then, a part of sukuna seemed to change back into his older self, where he cared less for others and remained disinterested in most things that life offered him. he decided not to care about anything or anyone, other than himself and of course, his darling daughter. your gift to him. the only thing keeping him grounded.
he never finds a new lover, nor does he harbour any desires to seek for one, despite the encouragement from others.
you keep appearing in his dreams every now and then. every night before bed, he hopes to see you again, and is disappointed in the mornings where he wakes up with the realisation that it didn't happen.
years and years pass, and while he ages like fine wine, so does his little girl, who becomes not so little anymore. they still share the best bond that a father and daughter could ever have.
but eventually, she finds her own path in life and leaves the house to pursue her own dreams, even getting married to start her own family.
though they still regularly contact each other, sukuna's abode becomes sorrowfully quiet without her presence around. though he's proud as a father, this solitude only deepens his longing for you, like the sensation of slowly sinking towards the bottom of the ocean floor.
good things never last.
though, it's not until a few more years later, that he passes away rather peacefully of old age.
his soul feels light and airy. he feels calm, despite being aware that he's passed on into the afterlife. the bodily discomforts of aging is non-existent in this place.
he's walking towards the bright light, where he assumes he's supposed to go, and realises that there's a figure standing towards the end of it. sukuna already knows who it is, and his walking begins to speed up.
and with each step, his time rewinds.
"look at you. still all pretty and pristine, unlike me with my abhorrent wrinkles," sukuna comments with a chuckle in his voice.
"what are you talking about? you're still as handsome as ever."
as you grab his hand, your touch shifts his appearance... and sukuna reverts back to the time when he glimmered the most vibrantly - the days before you died, the days of his brilliant twenties. he stares at his own hand, where the creases in his skin have disappeared completely.
rejoicing, he pulls you in for a tight embrace, as he can now feel your body against his.
"you did so well. our little girl grew up so beautifully," you tell him with your sweet voice, hands placed against his broad back.
"of course. she's none other than our daughter, after all," he replies with confidence, as he presses his face against the locks of your hair, enjoying your familiar scent.
your bright smile turns to something more sorrowful, and you step back a bit to come face-to-face with him.
"and... you never found someone else. you never remarried."
"because I never intended to look for another. You were the first and last," sukuna tells you matter-of-factly.
"wasn't it lonely?"
"...terribly. but you're here now, so it was worth enduring after all."
you laugh, and it sounds exactly the same as it did all those years before. the memories he had of you, the ones that he held onto so tightly as to not forget, until his very last breath.
"that makes me selfishly happy. i shouldn't be, for your sake, but I am."
"then why don't you give me a kiss? for all my hard effort."
he leans in, like how he'd always done whenever you appeared in his dreams at night.
except this time, your lips actually reach his, instead of disappearing away, like a fleeting memory.
good things may never last for long, but misfortune certainly doesn't last forever, either.

Under star lit skies -Moon/sun x reader part 2
WARNINGS: kind of depictions of violence
They are just lil guys
Tumblr media
it was finally the saturday where you started your job at the pizzaplex, as you were getting ready you got another email from Fazbear, it said what you needed to do:
-clean up the daycare toy containers
-organise said toys
-put the kids to sleep
it was a short todo list but it seemed pretty normal until the last one. Wasn’t there moon putting the children to sleep? why did you need to do it? A lot of question flooded your mind but you tried to sho them away and continue getting ready.
you didn’t have a car, so you’d have to take the bus there, fortunately for you there was a bus specifically for getting to the pizzaplex, some sort of tourist trap you thought, but it was convenient for you so it’s a win.
As you arrived at the pizzaplex you noticed how many people actually came to this place on a whim, there were a bunch of families and teenagers alone as well, it was kinda nice to see everyone having fun in a way. It was a little crowded at the entrance so it took you a while to get inside but when you did you were hit by warmth and a smell of pizza in the air and the slight sound of music playing from the speakers on the roof. People were walking around the lobby either in group or alone, you were making your way though these people when you get grabbed by a cold metal hand and pulled out the crowd. You gather your surroundings turning around you see who pulled you, tall white animatronic, it was who you knew as Chica.
“hello sweets, you must be the new daycare attendant! welcome in hun!,,
she spoke in a eager voice, and with even an eager expression, she then gives to you a little freddy theme sack.
“here is your uniform! there is also a daycare themed jacket in there as a plus, have a good first day sugar,,
and with that she waved at you and runs towards a group of people that was waiting for her, you open the sack to see your uniform being really colourful and not at all what you expected but you didn’t complain (it probably had to do with the fact you were actually working in the daycare)
You still had the map from the last time you were here so you knew how to navigate yourself more or less. Fuck that it actually took you forever to get to the fucking daycare so when you actually arrived at the door you groaned out loud scaring a family that was probably leaving their kid there, you recomposed yourself tried then to find a changing room of some sorts. Not finding one you decided to just go to the bathroom and just change yourself in a stall, the uniform was rather colourful, it was divided in a blue and yellow way and full of stars and stripes, it also had the jacket that you decided to put on since it was pretty cool.
You then entered the Daycare finally, pushing your way through families and kids, you finally made your way towards the security desk, moving your belongings on top of it, you then look around: The place was full of kids running around and having fun and in all that chaos you finally saw Sun. He was doing arts&crafts with some kids on top of a playmat in the corner of the daycare, it was full of colours all around with toys and other things all displays in containers and shelves. You also noticed that the walls were full of kid-made drawings all around the daycare, you thought it was sweet.
You started approaching Sun and the kids, looking around the drawings that were already displayed and then stopped when you reached the playmat. Sun craned his head up from where he was sitting, sensing that someone had come closer to them.
“Oh my stars! You must be the new helper they sent our way! Golly it is truly a pleasure to meet you new friend! But I do advise you to take off your shoes, it gets yucky when you walk around on the playmats!,,
he says eagerly waging his tail around like a happy puppy at the same time he was moving around the pen he was holding. You looked shamefully at your shoes remembering that this morning you put on mismatched socks cuz you couldn’t find any pair (you were a real mess) but alas you had to take them off, so that you did putting them with the kids shoes on the specific shelves made for it.
You then got to work, spilling the toy containers to clean them and then putting the toys back in accordingly. To be honest it was a pretty easy job you weren’t complaining, the only thing that bothered you was you last task, getting the kids to sleep. Full disclosure you weren’t the best with kids so the thought that had to put each one of them to sleep was terrifying, you thought Moon was supposed to do that, thinking about it made you even more curious about what the fuck was going on so went to ask Sun about it
“hey Sun! can I ask you something?,,
“anything go ahead!,,
he said while wrestling some kids out the jungle gym, tail waging with some kids attached to it, seemed like they were having fun
“why did I get tasked with putting the kids to sleep isn’t Moon supposed to do that?,,
you ask very nonchalantly, smiling, waiting for a response. Sun tho stops smiling and his tail stops waging sending the kids in a sadden state, you got confused at this and tried to reach for him, but then he snapped back, tail waging again and smile back on his face
“oh don’t worry about that Sunshine! Moon is just currently out of service for no specific reason! not to worry, not to worry!,,
“okay…,,
you were very confused at this sudden change of emotions, but you didn’t wanna snoop in even more than you had to.
Hours had passed since you had finished your first tasks and since then you just hang out at the security desk, napping really, it wasn’t until Sun came to wake you up gently.
“hey, I know this is your first day and some stuff is hard, so i decided to help you out in putting the children to sleep! It’s not really in my programming but I could always try!,,
he spoke with a soft but still eager voice, you could tell he was trying his best to being quiet since so far he had been extremely loud. You smiled at that thinking it was sweet and then got up and stretched, you had some work to do.
You and Sun started to clean up some toys and colouring stuff that the kids had left around so you had space to put down the mattresses and blankets, when you were done with that the lights turned off all of a sudden making you gasp and making Sun stop what he was doing midway, he put the blanket down tucking in one of the kids and then started fidgeting with his hands looking away from you
“I’m sorry friend, i can’t help you further than this, be carful and have a nice nap time!,,
he mutters fatally under his breath and then starts running away, tripping over something and almost falling, he then gets hooked by a rope and pulled up to what you assumed was his room. He was quite a strange animatronic, he acted very human to you but you didn’t really mind it, it was cute. You tried to understand what he meant with be careful, you weren’t that bad to the point were you could lose the children (you probably were actually) so what did he mean by that?
You finished tucking in all the kids after half an hour of work, some kids were still in the jungle gym so you had to crumble yourself in two to get in and find them.
It was dark so you couldn’t see much but you started moving forward, calling for them in a low voice as not to wake the others.
clang
clang
you started hearing like something was crawling outside the jungle gym, right on top of it too, you thought it was impossible for a kid to get there so you just assumed it was the natural sound it’d make (or something like that)
clang
clang
clang
BOOM
You were startled by the loud noise and stumbled back, something was on top of the tube you were in, you got scared looking up trying to understand what it could be, until you felt something grab your leg forcefully and pull you out of the jungle gym all in one. You felt pain in all your body, it wasn’t until you were you pulled up in the air that you opened your eyes.
“WHAT THE FUCK,,
“language,,
you screamed and then heard someone in a low voice say that next to you, you tried to turn around but were only spinned around the other way
“why are you snooping around in things that don’t concern you, brat,,
the low voice said again, it was until then that it clicked in your head that the only other thing that was were here with you it was either Sun or Moon, and Sun definitely didn’t sound like that.
“COULD YOU PUT ME DOWN PLEASE,,
you say all in one breath and surprisingly he did lower you down only to then flip you and take you by your throat slamming you against the security desk.
“no one asked for your help, leave,,
he started squeezing harder, making you lose breath you put your hands on his hand trying to get it off, it wasn’t until Sun appeared out of no where to stop his counterpart
“MOON! STOP they are a friend!! Please don’t hurt them,,
he shouted taking moon by the shoulder making his hand looser on your neck, making you fall on the ground coughing.
“Sun you are not supposed to be here,,
Moon says in a growl and looks at you then looks at Sun
He starts fidgeting and looks at you with sorry eyes, you started gathering your stuff ready to leave
what the fuck just happened.

Dream Star Daycare vs. Blue Sky Daycare
I’ve already talked a bit about the differences between these two and how the first daycare (Dream Star) was colder than the second daycare that Miri actually gets accepted at (Blue Sky). But, I had a bit more commentary that I wanted to add, especially because that post in general wasn’t really about that topic (it was about Kazuki and Rei really accepting the roles of “Fathers” within the larger societal structure of Japan). This post is just going to be about these two different daycares though.
First we have Dream Star Daycare. The name alone, while cute, is a bit colder already. It’s about nighttime, sleeping, and stars (up in cold space). The outside is doesn’t really tell or say much about the daycare:
Tumblr media
There are two big smiling flowers at the entrance way, but everything else about the building is pointed and sharp. The color is a dull orange-brown, the pillars are white, large, and intimidating, and the windows are void of any children’s artwork or colors or anything that really says, “Welcome children!” in a nice and kind way. You can barely see the (pretty barren looking) playground in the back there, through the walkway entrance. I can see a pair of exercise bars maybe, and that’s pretty much it.
Tumblr media
Blue Sky Daycare really lives up to that warm name. When people think of blue skies, they think of nice days outdoors with their family and friends. Warm memories and experiences. Visually, the building is much more welcoming as well. The entrance way has low arches that are rounded, with small pictures of happy animals welcoming the parents and students in.
The playground is front and center with lots of different equipment and things for the children to do. The playground is also very colorful, just like the roof, which is a pretty blue, and the walls of the building, which are painted an off-white color that allows all of the colorful images to be seen (like the flying birds and floating hot balloons). There are some sharp shapes, like the roof tops, but they are evened out with smaller and/or rounder windows that are more frequent as well.
The way the building is structured also allows for the parents to see what is going on inside the classrooms and for the teachers to keep a better eye on the children from the classrooms when they play outside. Dearm Star Daycare didn’t allow for anything like that, because the building was more like a refurbished government building than Blue Sky’s Daycare, which feels more like a home.
Tumblr media
The first thing we are greeted to inside Dream Star Daycare is this woman. She likely is a head teacher or manager - someone higher up that doesn’t actually work with the children. The give away for this is how she is dressed. She’s wearing a very business and professional looking suit outfit that doesn’t allow for much mobility, and around her neck is a necklace that could be a choking hazard and just cause a general mess around actual children (like, if one of them pulled on it and it broke and the pearls went everywhere).
Along with this, we have the stern lines around her lips, which are pulled down in a frown. Her squared jawline, narrowed and smaller shaped eyes, and furrowed brows combined with very bland colored and traditionally shaped glasses makes her come off as displeased, stern, and no funny business right from the start. Her haircut brings this whole look together as well.
In the background we can see some of the pictures the children have drawn...But they don’t look much like drawings the children made to express themselves. Those drawings definitely look more like academic based drawings, focusing on the children learning vocabulary and sight words. Since they are almost all single word images (dog, sushi, rainbow, train, etc.). None of them show true self expression or anything situational that indicates creativity and the children creating them to learn by living and exploring. Seems more rotary, repetition, learn-by-memorizing-sight-words based kind of learning instead.
Tumblr media
Someone in the comments of my previous post commented on how big the desk is, and they’re totally right. This desk is huge and places a lot of space between Kazuki, Rei, and the lady interviewing them. Miri is also far off to the side and playing alone with blocks. Blocks can help children learn some good social skills, but that’s only when they are playing with blocks with others.
Otherwise, blocks tend to focus more on helping children learn more conceptual ideas (math, spatial awareness, increase attention span, etc.). Concepts that are more beneficial for academics, rather than social learning and building.
Also, let’s take a look at the dialogue here, “We’re your first choice of daycare, then?” I’m sure, in a scene that we didn’t get to see, that the lady did common pleasantries and greetings, but the show decided that this sentence should be the first one that we hear this woman say to Kazuki and Rei. Before she asked this, she made a sort of disgruntled sound, so that combined with this...unpleasant greeting makes it clear that this woman doesn’t want them at her daycare. She is basically saying, “We were your first choice,” with the implication of “I wish we weren’t.”
After that, she goes on to ask them this:
Tumblr media
“And...you’re both fathers?” The “And...” is saying a lot here. Right, that pause before a question indicates some level of uncomfortableness with the question you are going to ask. Implies you find something off or wrong with whatever you are asking about. She also starts off only engaging with Kazuki and Rei. Miri has to literally force herself into the conversation, and then the woman only gives one word replies back to Miri (usually as a question). No true engagement.
In the other post I talked about the look of the room, so I won’t go into details with that here, but you can see how barren and cold it looks and feels.
Now, let’s check back with Blue Sky Daycare:
Tumblr media
What a difference our first impression of Blue Sky Daycare is! Cute, warm, and inviting pastel colors are everywhere, as are pictures and children’s crafts. You can see the boxes of toys in the back, but Miri isn’t playing with any of them, because she was brought into the interview itself.
Miss Anna starts off the interview by talking to her directly, in fact. Asking for her name and age. She has a pretty smile, button nose, rosy cheeks, and big kind eyes. Her hair is done up in a loose ponytail, and she isn’t wearing any jewelry. The older man next to her has a kind smile on his face too, big bushy eyebrows, and wears very soft colors (pastels of green and pink, a muted red color, and white). Nothing about either characters design is sharp or cold like the other women.
Tumblr media
There is also a very prominent wooden piano right next to the table they are sitting at (it’s a dark wood color too, which has a “warm” tone to it). Sunlight is shining in form the windowed doorway behind them, and the desk they are all sitting at is big enough, but also allows the two groups to be closer, and is at Miri’s level.
We also get a nice, full view of Miss Anna’s design here. Her clothes are comfy, she has an apron on with pockets, and she is wearing just socks. All of this indicates that she actually engages with the students. No jewelry anywhere for kids to break and cause a mess or possibly choke on, no stuffy clothes that would be hard to move and play and jump around in, an apron for her to get messy when it is craft time, and pockets to hold materials she might need throughout the day.
When she asks about them being two fathers, she says, “Two fathers, you say?” Things to note: there is no “And” or “...” no pause in asking this question. She also asks it politely. In the Japanese she ends it with “desu ka,” which is a general level of politeness. The English carries this over with the translation of “you say?” This carries over her tone of voice and expression (a nice smile) too, which are far more welcoming than the previous daycare.
Tumblr media
Finally, when Miri is talking (and not just introducing herself), Miss Anna bends down and closer to Miri. So she indicates that she is listening closely to what Miri is saying and is doing so more on Miri’s level, rather than Miri having to do so on the adult’s level (like what we see at the previous daycare).
They really do a fantastic job of visually showing why Blue Sky Daycare is not only a perfect fit for this little family of three, but also why it is a good daycare in general.
Tumblr media
In a way, Kazuki and Rei really...dodged a bullet.
(Sorry, I’ll end this now, lol).

Sunny Skies
Eclipse smirked down at his lover. He was holding Sun in his lap with his hands behind Eclipse's neck, wrists gently tied together with ribbon. "Hello my Sunflower~" Eclipse purred as he nuzzled the smaller sized daycare attendant's neck. This action alone made Sun squeak with nervousness.
"Aha- H-hello 'Clipsy-" Sun giggled as he squirmed in Eclipse's lap. He wasn't uncomfortable, Eclipse was built with plush padding after all.
"You seem squirmy~ Whatever has you so giggly~?" Eclipse started to trace Sun's sides and stomach, making the latter squeal and start giggling even louder. "I'm not even doing anything, my dear~"
Sun whined as he barked out a laugh when Eclipse hit a sweet spot. "Oh~? My, my, that sure made you jump~ I barely even touched you~! Your bellybutton dent must be bad~ I should circle it with a marker one day as I doodle~"
"NAHAO!! Th-that's evil!!" Sun squeaked out.
"Me? Evil?" Eclipse pulled his hands away in mock defense. "Oh, no, no~! What would be evil is this~!"
Sun nervously smiled and soon snorted as Eclipse started wiggling his fingers in his field of vision. As soon as Sun looked away with his rays spinning, Eclipse struck, squeezing along the sides of Sun's upper torso.
"AH! HAhahaheeee!! 'Clihihihihpsyyy!!"
"Yes, my Sunflower~?" Eclipse purred as he pulled his hands away again. "You having fun, my love~?"
Sun kicked his feet as he turned his head around to bury it in the bigger animatronic's chest. "How sweet~ I take that as a yes~"
To that, Sun dramatically huffed and turned his face back around with a blushy pout expression. Only to be met with wiggling fingers poised over his tummy again, making him shriek with surprise. Oh that little-
"ECLIPSE!!" He yelped.
"Yes, my dear~?" Eclipse chuckled with glee. He loved seeing his lover's flustered expression.
Sun pouted once again, letting his hands slump as Eclipse pulled away once again. What Sun didn't expect was for Eclipse to stiffen. "Hm?" He hummed with curiosity.
"D-dohon't worry about it, S-Suhunny-!" Eclipse giggled as he tried to move his head away without thinking.
"Hmmm…~ I hear giggly giggles~!" Sun smirked tracing Eclipse's neck with his fingers.
"YoHU! Doho NAhat!" Eclipse whined, scrunching his shoulders.
But Sun knew better. In fact he softened his features as he heard the jingling of a bell as Eclipse wagged his tail. "Such a happy baby~! Yes you are~!"
"NAHA! Dohohohon't dohoho that, meheheheanie!" Eclipse snorted.
"So Iiii'm the meanie now, hmmm~? My oh my quite the tURN!? EEEEEEEK!!!" Sun shrieked as he suddenly felt a wiggling finger in the dent on his stomach.
A blushing Eclipse leaned in to nuzzle Sun's neck, making the ladder squeaky. "Oh Sunflower… Yohuhu never learn doho you~?" Eclipse chuckled, doing the best he could to tease Sun through his own flustered giggles.
Sun squealed once more… This was definitely going to be a long night of laughs~

in an alternate universe | stray kids
pairing: none; ot8 (stray kids)
genre: slice of life
warnings: none
wc: 1.8k+
notes: like strangers bumping into each other, carrying the pollens of familiarity every time.
a/n: uhh...word spill turned into concept writing??
Tumblr media
chan being a single dad, late to his morning meetings because his kid spilled the entire jar of strawberry jam on his pants and shirt and between scrounging for an ironed shirt and creaseless pants and getting changed and dropping his kid off to school because they missed the bus, by the time he's through the doors of the large conference room, slipping in with a murmured apology to his boss, fidgeting with the singular crease right across his stark white shirt in the semi darkness of the projector wall shining in the room, the lull of the day finally settles in, a quiet hum of the mundanity of life. but he's happy, he has a kid to go back to at the end of the day and the box of doughnuts to take back that felix had promised him. later he'll tuck his kid with a kiss on the forehead and he'll be a little scared of the day they would be too grown up for that stuff and he'll quietly sip on his beer in the darkness of his tiny but cozy living room. and he'll remind himself to live in the moment because that's all he knew he had right now. who knows what the future would hold.
felix silently checks in on the kids in his classroom, though a bunch of harmless maniacs screeching like banshees while they work on their colouring assignments, felix is content with being spared a day of innocent accidents and of trees coloured with hues of reds and purples. the kids tell him his blonde hair looks like cotton candy and he smells like cake and chocolates and he discreetly hides the chocolate stain on his shirt under the daycare apron. accepting the compliment, he makes a promise to bake cookies for the entire class and is met with smattering cheers, desperately trying to quieten them down with the empty threat of revoking his promise if they didn't. he spends the day colouring trees the shade of vibrant purples and skies the colour of pink, because this was fine. skies could be pink and trees could be anything but green. that was childhood and he was happy to be a part of it anyhow.
minho is waiting at the cafe at five past two, looking out for for a blonde haired boy who comes hurtling in not long after, slumping across the counter for his vanilla latte with whipped cream. minho gags every time he makes it, but he indulges the younger's diabetic choice with a sarcastic hope that he chokes on it some day, only to be met with a sweet smile. it makes him shakes his head and tend to the few stray university students who frequent the cafe erratically, drained and tired and internally screaming for caffeine. in the midst, he spots the boy in glasses, always arriving at fifteen past two on tuesdays, ordering a coffee so bitter it would put the vanilla latte he had just made to shame. he waits with his nose buried in his phone scrolling though something, pinching his fingers across the screen sometimes to zoom in and out. minho works at the station, the smell of coffee beans and vanilla everywhere, the chattering fading out as it always did around this time, the tiny pings of a game felix played on his phone and the whirr of the coffee machine. minho hands the boy in glasses his coffee, receiving a polite thanks and a small smile before he's left alone again. it would be a while, he thinks, before the general rush was back. till then, he would silently wait at the counter, alone with his thoughts and the smell of coffee beans and vanilla everywhere.
seungmin walks briskly towards the law department, reciting what he had just revised through the small text on his phone at the coffee shop, sipping on the bitter drink in his hand. his exam starts in fifteen minutes, he has plenty of time to go over his summarised and colour coded notes exactly once and finish his coffee before switching off his phone and putting it away for the exam. greeting a few friends, he politely avoids any further conversation so he could revise. the fifteen minutes are up soon, he finishes reading the last lines of his neatly highlighted notes and gulps down the last dregs of his gradually turned cold coffee, disposing the cup in the dustbin before the TA arrives for invigilation and almost bumping into him on his way to his seat. the exam goes well, remembers all of it - well, most of it, he does get two of them wrong. but by the time he is out of the building, now readily mingling with his friends and discussing the paper and as he walks down the aisle, he is already mentally drafting a timetable; his next exam was on friday and he thinks, he doesn't mind. he was allowed a few mistakes, it was a part of learning after all.
changbin's phone rings cheerfully, an incoming message from his professor to drop the answer sheets in his room and get his letter of recommendation too while he was there. he replies in affirmative, stacking the last sheet in a neat pile before putting them away in a yellow envelope. he almost bumps into his junior - the same one from before - while leaving the class. they both bow at each other politely, making their way out of the class along with the diminishing crowd. changbin remembers how it felt to have been one of the students sitting for his exams, and now he was graduating in a few weeks. and he wonders now how everything just has a tendency to fall into place in its own time. how the most concerning issue for these juniors right now was to pass their minors, how just a few months ago he had been utterly lost, not knowing what he was going to do in life, how right now, as he made his way to receive his letter of recommendation, the tiny part of him that had been wriggling in anxiety and worry was slowly calming down. how in a few weeks, he was going to be out of this place, out of these halls and into a whole new world and he would have to start from scratch there all over again. but changbin knows that life won't just throw luck and opportunities in his way, and he had learnt to earn it himself. changbin knows that when he leaves this place one last time, when he walks down these halls one last time, he'll be a bit braver.
hyunjin receives an alert on his phone; a new message, a new commission. a sister buying her brother a custom painting for his graduation. a sweet gesture, in hyunjin's opinion. the client paid extra, for a priority service, only two weeks and an amalgamation of some very specific details and rest left up to the artist - him. hyunjin liked these kinds of commissions, he knew what was needed and he could do whatever he wanted to with it. in fact, hyunjin liked it when knew things. he did not like the indecisiveness of certain things but that doesn't mean he was predisposed to surprises. however, he was not expecting the tuft of shocking bubblegum hair to temporarily blind him the moment he stepped into the auditorium. it's visible even from a distance, his friend's boastfully reckless endeavor, but surprisingly, it suits him. hyunjin didn't like taking risks like this though and he consoles himself, that one day he might. one day he might get the belly piercing he had been wanting to. one day, he might dye his hair crimson. one day, he might not mind not knowing. hyunjin knows people think of him capable enough to do that, he's got that vibe, they say. but the hyunjin of now secretly revels in the simplicity of knowing certain things and dismissing the ones he didn't. and he thinks, it's okay to be a little simple. a little boring, just the slightest bit ordinary.
jeongin sucks on a bright red lollipop, sweet on his tongue with its cherry pop. he basks in the compliments of his recently dyed hair - a pink so bright, his parents had almost fainted. it'll fade, surely? they had not been so sure while asking that. he kind of liked it though, it went well with his skin tone. it had been an impulsive decision for sure, but he was ultimately glad that it had worked out in his favor. jeongin thinks he's been much too serious his whole life (which is not much, he just turned twenty-one), but adapting to a carefree flow had come easier than he had expected. his guitar tutor would disagree, in lieu of him playing hooky much too often in their lessons. but what he wants is spontaneity, the nervous gurgling in the pit of his stomach while getting his hair dyed into an atrocious shade, the unforeseen horror of dunking a piece of sushi in chocolate dip that settles like a belated realisation of utmost disgust. the thrill of being so sure of embracing the unsure, he thinks he might be ageing a bit too fast or has aged backwards into a reckless life much alike kids who let go of the handles of their bikes down the hill only to fall and get up and fall again till they learn. no, jeongin was definitely maturing and the self awareness was a happy realisation.
jisung blinks in surprise at the tiny figure eyeing him from behind the man's back, safely tucked between the couch and the protective shield of the father. he's to teach this five year old how to play a guitar? chan assures him it would only be a two week trial session for the time being and that he would be paid for it. jisung doesn't mind of course, he's a good tutor too, he believes. he's just, never taught someone so young. leaving aside the fact that even two week's worth of payment would do wonders to his wallet - adulting was hard, more so when you were trying to be as financially independent as you could be - he didn't have anything else to hold against the offer to turn it down. if anything, this was another challenge jisung was ready to take head on. he's been told, that he's too passionate sometimes. that he puts in too much into things one wouldn't expect him to. but jisung is what he is; someone desperate to prove himself worth. someone being passionate in what he did because that is all he knew how to do, that is all he knew that could make up for his otherwise lack in proficiency. jisung wasn't trying too hard, he was only trying as much as he should to make up for the areas he lacked in. chan sees this, he recognises it but he doesn't prod it. he sends jisung off with a doughnut wrapped carefully in a napkin and with the weight of his guitar strap digging into his shoulders, jisung hopes to someday rise above all that he lacked. for his passion and hard work to pay off.

Walking past the playground to the daycare center was part of his day, something that had become a habit. It was his usual route to get to the coffee shop where he’d get a little snack during his break, and he’d always take the time to admire you, the way you were with the children, the way you talked to them, the maternal instinct that radiated off of you so strongly that he could feel it from the sidewalk.
By the time he’d get back from the coffee shop, you’d be lining up the children, singing softly, with the most beautiful voice as you counted their heads. He had seen you so many times, learning your name from the children that called out for you, but he could never find the time to actually talk to you, to introduce himself, to get to know you. The image of you filled his mind though, it didn’t matter where he was or what he was doing, all he could think about was you.
Wildflowers that lined the roadside and the way the sun would break through the spaces in the leaves on the trees. The soft twittering of baby birds that had just hatched in the nests that were built on the branches high above his head, the way the clouds drifted slowly across light blue skies. The feeling of the sun’s rays warming his skin as he walked back to the company building.
All of these things reminded him of you because they were sweet, they brought him a joy that didn’t cost anything, it didn’t take much, all he had to do was step outside to experience it, and he could imagine you in all the things that he loved, all the things that brought him happiness. In his mind’s eye he could see you dancing in the wildflowers that filled a clearing that no one else knew about, sunlight creating rays that snuck through the trees, kissing your skin and basking in its warmth. Laying in the tall grass, a blanket laid beneath you as he stared down at you, whispering of all the dreams that he had, sweet sleep filled nights of a beautiful future with you, played out in his mind like images from a film reel, grainy and flickering, but mesmerizing all the same.
How was he supposed to make this future that he had fallen in love with so deeply actually happen though? There was never time to talk to you, never time to go over to you and ask you how your day has been. His days were so busy that by the time he left the company building, all the lights in the daycare center were turned off and all the cars were gone. Would this future that he dreamt of for so many nights be nothing more than a pipe dream, a hopeless wish on a shooting star that would never come true? It was beginning to feel that way, the film reel starting to burn at the edges from being played way too much, the images fading and distorting as the reel clicked and became warped. Nothing would ever come of this hopeless infatuation… And he wondered why he clung onto it so tightly even still.
The rain beat down on the the roof of the company building, a lulling sound that had him almost falling asleep in the practice room, his head leaned against the mirror lined wall, his eyes drifting shut only to snap back open once another roll of thunder roared in the sky like bowling pins falling in an empty bowling alley. He wouldn’t be able to go see you during his break, he sure as hell wasn’t walking to the coffee shop in this weather, and he knew for a fact that you wouldn’t have the children outside to play.
Did you like the rain? Did you sing songs of the storm that hung in the clouds high above the tallest buildings? Did you dream of kissing the love of your life beneath the bright light of a streetlamp, an umbrella the only thing protecting you and your beloved from the raindrops that flowed like waterfalls over the edge? How he’d love to be your love, to feel your love and be loved by you, how he’d love to love you, to let you know what it’s like to truly be loved. Had you been loved the way he wanted to love you before? Was there already someone in your life that claimed to love you? They couldn’t treat you the way he could, no one could cherish you the way he would. He would never be able to get you out of his head, you were a staple in the most pleasant parts of his mind, a part reserved for relaxation and solitude.
“The storm is only going to get worse from here, we should get back home.” Bangchan said as he wiped the sweat from his brow, grabbing his jacket off the floor and slipping it on. “Drive safely, get home safely no matter how you’re doing it, but text the groupchat when you do so that I know everyone is okay.” Ever the father figure, he waited for everyone to gather up their things, making sure he was the last one out of the practice room before locking up the door and following after them.
Lee Know was the first one to climb into his car, starting it up and waiting for the others to pull out, being the last one to leave his parking space and getting out on the street. He could have taken the quick way home, the usual way home, but he opted for the long way, the way that could possibly give him a glimpse of you. School hadn’t been let out too long ago, and he was hoping that he’d maybe see you when you were on your way to your car or something, anything would be good enough, the image of you surrounded by droplets of rain only adding another scene to the movie that his mind had come up with.
The streetlamps were the only source of light other than the headlights of passing cars, it was astonishing just how dark the sky could become, only lit by the sudden bolt of lightning that sent another wave of thunder rolling through and shaking the ground below. That’s when he saw you, standing on the edge of the road, right beside your car, pulling at the handle as your feet stomped at the puddle they were standing in.
Not a second guess crossed his mind as he quickly pulled over, rushing out of his car to come over to you, noticing the way your drenched hair hung around your face, your clothes soaked and clinging to your body. How long have you been out here? How many cars had gone by and not even bothered to help you? As much as it annoyed him to think that no one seemed to even spare you a passing glance, he was happy to know that he would be the one to help you.
“Is everything alright?” He called out to you, his voice raised so you could hear him over the sound of tires treading wet roads and rain pattering the hood of your car. You continued to pull at the handle to the driver side door, maybe you hadn’t heard him, or maybe you just didn’t want to hear him, but then you looked up and he could see the mascara running down your face and the look of desperation in your eyes.
“My stupid car wouldn’t start up… and I came out here to check under the hood and I locked the doors from the inside but forgot to bring my keys and everything I have is in there…” You said, banging your fists against the window. “I can’t even call anyone… Do you… Do you possibly have a phone that I could use… Please?” You asked, your eyes widening as you looked at him, your hands clasped in front of your chest as if you were praying to him, and to say that the sight of it didn’t ignite some strange fascination within him would be lying.
He nodded his head, motioning for you to follow him over to his car. “I have an umbrella in the backseat, unless you want to just sit in my car and try to warm up. You shouldn’t be outside so long in the rain, you’ll get ill.” He said, and you hesitated in the middle of the street which only had him waving his hand once more when he turned to look at you. “Come on… I promise… I’m a totally normal guy, I just want to help.” A totally normal guy that had been watching you daily, that had dreamt of you nightly and made up scenarios of the two of you together, an entire notebook dedicated to these thoughts.
You were weary, and that was smart, he couldn’t imagine what could happen if you trusted the wrong person. As soon as you had gotten the umbrella and the phone, you stood as far back from the car as possible as you made your call. It was kind of silly to him. If he was going to kidnap you, he definitely wouldn’t do it on an open road, and he’d make sure to do it when you felt safe enough with him that you wouldn’t make a scene.
He was tuned into you completely, all sounds of the world around him blocked out, the only thing he could listen to was your voice as you spoke to the person on the other end of the phone. The call ended quickly after you had given the address to where you were at, and you stepped forward just enough so that he’d be able to reach his phone without you getting too close. “Thank you… I’m sure you don’t want to stay out here in the rain, but… When they get my stuff out of the car, I can repay you for your time and your generosity.”
His head cocked to the side as he slipped his phone into his pocket, denying the umbrella that you tried to hand to him even though he was standing out in the pouring rain, getting just as drenched as you were. “No need to repay me… Not with money at least.” Your eyebrows lowered as you looked at him questioningly, clearly not understanding where he was going with it or what he meant. “Let me take you out, anywhere you want, it’s on me.” He said, taking one cautious step forward just to gauge your reaction, but the only thing you seemed to be reacting to right now were his words.
“I don’t think that’s how repayment works… Uhm… What’s your name?” He quickly introduced himself, offering out his hand for you to shake, and he couldn’t help but notice how soft yours were, but not only that, they were cold, and he wanted nothing more than to warm them with his own. “Lee Know… I’m Y/L/N Y/F/N… But… I don’t think it would be much of a repayment if you were still the one taking me out. Plus, I don’t think my cats would like it very much if I left them home alone. They have a very strict schedule that I have to follow.”
And somehow you had gotten even more perfect, it was like there was a halo of light around you, a spotlight on you, a large neon sign hanging right above your head that blinked with the lights “She’s The One”. You were the one, he had known it since the first time he had seen you, but it just became more and more obvious every single day, and now that he was talking to you, it was like everything had been thrown in his face. “Your cats? What are their names? What are they like? I have three cats, Soonie, Doongie, and Dori…” And now he was just spilling everything that you might like to know about him without you even asking, throwing it all out there on the slight chance that it might make you feel closer to him, might make you want to be closer to him.
Before you even had the chance to respond though, a tow truck pulled up right next to your car, the driver occupying all of your attention, and he hated it, he loathed it, it infuriated him. Couldn’t the man just do his job while the two of you were talking? Well… either way, he wasn’t leaving before the conversation was finished, and he surely wasn’t leaving before he had gotten your number at least. “The engine? Well… how am I going to get home? It’s pouring…” You asked the man who was looking at you like a meal instead of the woman of Lee Knows dreams, and he had the right mind to walk over there and talk to the man about how disrespectful it was, but he held back, now knowing how you’d react if he did.
The driver offered for you to drive with him, that he’d drop you off at your address, but the thought of you being in some other man’s car, of the strange man knowing where you lived, it had his skin crawling, and he wasn’t going to stand idly by and let you just accept the offer when he had a perfectly good car that you’d be able to ride in as well. “I can drive you home if you’d like that more.” He spoke up, and he could see the driver gritting his teeth as he looked over at him, but Lee Know didn’t care, his eyes solely on you as you seemed to contemplate it.
“Are you sure? That would be… great… but, if it’s out of your way-” Lee Know cut you off, a champion like smile on his face at his first ever victory when it came to you. He didn’t cut you off with words though, he simply held his hand up to stop you, grabbing your bag from your hand and then holding the umbrella above your head as you walked over to the passenger side of his car, but not without one last look back at the man who had lost without even knowing that he was playing the game in the first place.
And that’s how it all started, a love story that filled his writing book with endless lyrics that went on and on about the woman that he loved so much that he’d die for her, he’d kill for her, he’d do anything to see her smile. Of course, the guys didn’t know just how true those lyrics were, they didn’t know the backstory, and they only assumed that he was writing from some strong emotion that came from somewhere other than the room in his house that was reserved solely for you.
No one really knew that behind each of those lyrics was the truth, that he had killed people, that he had almost died while trying to get rid of anyone and everyone that might still have a hold on you. He wanted to be the only one who held you, who had a hold on you like the controller of a marionette doll, each of your strings connected to the wooden control bar in his hands. Every move you made was one that only he wanted you to, every word you spoke was only to be spoken to him in response to him. When he wasn’t with you, you’d sit pretty in the gorgeous bedroom that had shamelessly been set up before he had even spoken to you, countless nights spent in the bed, staring at the ceiling and wondering if you’d love everything he did for you.
Sadly, getting you to stay with him wasn’t as easy as getting you to agree to date him, and to be quite frank, you had never actually agreed to stay with him, but he could remember the day that it happened so clearly, every single world spoken, every movement of your body, every expression on your face, it was like watching a movie that only he could see.
“What do you mean quit my job? I love my job… I can’t just leave the children, they need me, they love me.” You had said, shaking your head and letting out a small chuckle of disbelief at the sudden request that he had made to you. “Plus I have bills to pay, and I need to care for my cats. I can’t just quit, you know that, just like I know you can’t quit your job.”
Clearly you didn’t understand though, and he tried to stay calm as he listened to you speak your reasons. This was the first time something like this had been brought up, but he just assumed he wouldn’t have to address it any further than simply telling you to quit. “But what if you didn’t have bills to pay… what if you could just stay with me and you could bring your cats to stay too? Would you quit your job then?” All he needed was a yes, a single agreement and the irritation that he was beginning to feel would evaporate and the two of you could finish the evening that he had planned.
“No… Lee Know, you don’t understand… It’s not about the money, it’s about the kids. They need me, and if I just quit… they wouldn’t be able to find someone to fill in for me… I can’t just… I can’t. I adore my job, and I honestly can’t believe you’re asking me to do something like that when you know how much my job means to me.” You shook your head, pushing away from the table that you had been sat at. “Maybe we can continue this conversation another time. I have to get back home and plan my lessons for the week anyway.”
You were choosing your job over him… him… and he was just… supposed to do nothing about it? That was just… it wasn’t something that he could do. He had tried to be nice, he had tried to give you the opportunity to let things go easily, but you had been foolish and selfish. Why agree to a relationship when you’re just going to put everything else in your life in front of the person you were supposed to love? He would never do that to you, you would never be anything but a top priority to him. “If you walk out of that door right now, we’re done… we’re over. Is that really what you want? Do you really want to lose me over some job? It’s not worth it, I could give you everything… But if you leave, you’ll have nothing.”
You paused right beside the front door, your hand lingering over the jacket that you had worn over to his house today, and you weren’t sure why you hesitated, why you turned around to look at him, but you did, and now he was right in front of you, glaring down at you. “That’s not fair, Lee Know… You can’t make me choose between love and my livelihood.” You whispered, letting him pull your hand away from the jacket, leading you back into his home and pulling you down on the couch beside him.
“I’m not making you choose between anything, love… But you could have both if you stay with me. I can be your source of everything… you won’t have to work a day in your life, you’ll want for nothing when you’re with me, all you have to do is stay.” His hands slid up your arms before landing at your cheeks, cupping them gently and pulling you down to kiss him. “I want to show you something… And if you don’t like it… Well… Then you can leave… But first I want you to see it.” He smiled shyly as he pulled you off the couch and led you to one of the doors that he had always said was just a closet, but when he opened it, you were met with a grand bedroom, much more elegantly decorated than even his own room.
The bed had a sheer net canopy flowing over it, the blankets were ivory satin and there were candles lit on the birchwood end tables that matched the frame of the bed. “What is… What is this?” You whispered, your heart frozen in a state of panic as you saw the photo frames that sat propped up yet empty on the dresser surface and anywhere else where they could be sat. “Lee Know, what is this?” You asked after having foolishly walked further into the bedroom, standing in the middle now when you turned to face him.
He was still in the doorway, his arms outstretched as if to block your way of exit. “It’s your room, love… I made it for you, only the best. See… See everything that I could do for you? This is just the beginning… This isn’t even all of it. And… and maybe one day… we can share the room together?” You shook your head, stepping towards the door, but his hand now moved to the doorknob as he started backing out. “You’re staying with me… I promise you’ll love it soon… Just give yourself some time. I love you.” He whispered, pulling the door shut and locking it before you could reach it, heading straight for the kitchen to continue preparing the meal that the two of you were supposed to share as your fists slammed against the door, your cries for him to let you out and let you go home were drowned out by the music that he played through the speaker beside him. You’d learn to love it, and when that day came, you’d be free to roam the house just as you had before… Before you learned the truth.
At first you refused to look at him when he’d walk into your room, you’d sit on the bed with your back purposely turned to him. You wouldn’t respond to any of his questions, and when he’d wrap his arms around you, your body would go stiff, and when he tried to kiss you, you’d back away from him. You didn’t understand yet, but he was sure that after a while you’d see that everything he did was because he just loves you, adores you, so much that he needs you with him always.
After a couple weeks, you finally started talking to him, and he never realized how much he missed your face until he heard it for what felt like the first time again. “I saw a spider in the room.” Was all you had mumbled to him when he walked in with your daily meal, placing the plate down in front of you and smiling softly, reaching out to touch you, but you still backed away. Thank goodness for the spider for finally making you speak.
“I’ll get him out of here for you, my love. Don’t worry.” And he did, he looked all over the room, under the bed, behind the wardrobe and the vanity, inside the closet, until he found the little arachnid under a pair of the many shoes he had bought you. He quickly squashed it before smiling up at you. “There you are… Nothing to worry about anymore. I’ll always be here for you.” And you’d always be there with him. He’d protect you from anything that you might be scared of, keep you safe from anyone that might try to hurt you.
“Thank you…” You murmured, smiling softly back at him and it felt like his heart froze as he climbed onto the edge of the bed, his eyes wandering over you like you were the most amazing, precious artifact he had ever laid eyes upon. But when he tried to touch you once again, you moved away, your top teeth gnawing on your bottom lip as you quickly averted eye contact.
It would take longer than this to make you comfortable with him again, and he’d wait as long as he had to. You were his no matter what, he wasn’t just going to let you go because you were upset with him, he’d just try harder. He would make you love him again, he knew he would.
A month or two in, he had awakened to the sound of your panicked gasps, the satin sheets on your bed rustling and then quiet whimpers. He hated the fact that he had to sleep in a different room, if he was already in the room with you, he could have helped you immediately, but now he had to climb out of his own bed and run into your room, the light from the hallway shining in on you and causing you to squint and shield your eyes from the brightness. “What happened?” He whispered anxiously, looking around the room although he knew no one would be able to get in. The windows were barred and nailed shut so that you couldn’t leave, and that meant no one else could enter.
“Nothing… I’m fine…” You whimpered, shifting to lay down once more as you pulled the blankets up to your face. “You can go back to bed.” You rolled over onto your side, letting out a shaky sigh and a soft sniffle. He shook his head, going over to the bed and climbing in beside you, highly aware of the fact that you didn’t move away from him, instead relaxing against him as if he was exactly what you needed.
“Tell me what happened, love… I’ll make all your fears go away… I’ll do anything you need me to do.” He whispered, nuzzling into your hair as his arms tightened around you. “I know that you don’t love me right now, I know you’re mad at me, but I’m doing this for you… for us… so we can always be together. I love you so much…”
The sound of your gulp filled the silence that followed his words and as his hands slid down your arm, it stopped at your wrist, feeling your pulse quicken beneath your skin. “I never stopped loving you… I was just… scared. I don’t want to talk about it though, I don’t want to think about it…” You sunk deeper into the pillow, your breaths becoming more steady and even, but his fingers continued to linger, moving like ghosts along your skin that was coated in cold perspiration from the fear that your nightmare filled you with. “I’m not going to be stuck in here forever… am I?” You whispered, your voice timid, and it had him holding you even closer, his lips connected to the sensitive, damp skin of your neck, kissing it tenderly, pouring all of his love into each tiny peck.
“You’re not stuck in here at all, love… The door has been unlocked since day two.” He hummed, and it was the truth, you had just given up so quickly on trying to leave that you hadn’t even noticed. “If you want to come out and join me for breakfast in the morning, you can… I’d actually love it if you did. You know how much I miss your company…” His hand slid down your waist, your hip, all the way down to your thigh before slipping his hand between them. “I missed you, my love, and it was even worse because you were right here… didn’t you miss me?”
Your head nodded as your legs tightened around his hand, your own fingers dancing along his arm as your eyes slowly started to close, the exhaustion creeping up and setting in. “So much, Lee Know… I love you…” The words were but a sigh, a soft breath that filled the air, encircling his head and filling his ears. “I’m so tired…”
And he had already won, he knew that he didn’t have to indulge himself completely in you tonight, he could have you any night he wanted, so he pulled his hand back, brushing the hair away from your face enough to press a quick kiss to your cheek. “Sleep now, lovey… I’ll be here in the morning.” And he was, he’d be there every morning, and so would you… where else would you be but beside him forever and ever.
The sun had just begun to set, casting a pinkish hue through the pastel skies. You loved it, and you’d usually take the time to sit with Lee Know out on the balcony just to watch the sunset, but tonight you couldn’t, tonight was his night, and you were to be dressed and ready to join him before the set time.
The black dress that he had personally picked for you was uncomfortable, especially since you were so used to wearing sweatpants and hoodies while you were home, but he insisted that you wore it, wanting to show off his beautiful love to the other members and other idols that were there. You were his, and he wanted everyone to know it. He never worried and he never felt threatened, he knew that if anyone were to say anything to him about being with you or if anyone even questioned the relationship, he’d be able to handle them. Although no one knew it, they had far more reason to fear what he was capable of than he had reason to fear them.
He was sitting at the dining room table, looking over his phone when you stepped out of the bedroom, and the suit that he was wearing, the way he looked in general, it was sure to overshadow the elegant piece that you were wearing… not that you minded in the slightest, you never were a fan of being center of attention. “Lovely…” He whispered, his eyes widening when he looked up from his device, a wide smile spreading across his face as he looked you over. “Come here, come closer…” He cooed, his arms already outstretched for you to move between, and his hands quickly held your hips. “Gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous… I’m the luckiest man in the world.”
You rolled your eyes as you brushed your hands over his shoulders, smoothing out the wrinkles that formed there when he moved his arms. “I feel fat… Maybe the dress is too tight…” You murmured, but he chuckled softly, kissing your stomach before standing up and kissing the tip of your nose.
“Of course not. You look stunning. You’re not looking down on yourself, are you, love?” You shook your head sheepishly, knowing that one of his rules was that not only should everyone else respect you, but you should respect yourself as well. “Good. Now, if you ever start to feel uncomfortable, you just tell me and we’ll sit down, alright?” You nodded swiftly, as he let out a hum of approval when he looked you over once more. “Now how am I going to keep every other man in the room from looking at you?”
You thought he was teasing, so you giggled, and he laughed which only made you feel like you were right in your assumption, but he was already internally fuming at the idea of another man looking in your direction, staring too long at the way the dress hugged your figure, the way the accenting necklace hung low, the diamond falling just above your breasts making them focal point, but he’d be damned if he caught anyone other than himself looking at them. Maybe he picked the necklace so he’d have a reason to let off some steam, a reason to go off on anyone and everyone that crossed a line that they didn’t even know about.
“I don’t think you have to worry about anyone looking at me… Not when I’m next to you.” You teased back, but truthfully, and unbeknownst to him, you were feeling the same way. It was a tingly feeling, like volts of electricity coursing through you, but instead of it feeling good, or making you feel excited, these volts hurt, they stung over every inch of skin, in every organ, it made it hard to focus on anything but the pain they caused. You were already jealous of everyone there, and you hadn’t even walked out the front door yet. “Are we eating when we get there or before?” You asked, trying to change the subject to help yourself, not even realizing how thankful he was in the moment for the derailment of his thoughts.
“Anything you want to do, love, we’ll do it. I don’t mind if we’re late.” He murmured, clasping his hand with yours as the both of you walked out to the car. He was always such a gentleman, it was hard to believe that at one point in your relationship he had tried to lock you in the bedroom that the two of you now shared. It had been about three years since then, and he had changed so much, and as impossible as it sounds, you loved him more than you ever thought you could. “Is there anything that you want to eat, anything that you’re craving?” He asked as he held the car door open for you and helped you into the car.
Your hand rubbed over your stomach as you got comfortable in the seat, humming in thought before smiling up at him, a smile that he would kill, torture, maim, anything he had to do to see. You were beyond precious to him, you were a fragile artifact that he still couldn’t believe he had gotten his hands on. He would do literally anything for you, anything to make you happy, anything to make you stay with him… anything. “You know the leftover budae jjigae that you have in the fridge… and you said I could heat it up when I get hungry for it?” You mused, your eyes wide and pure and innocent as you looked up at him. Oh how it made his heart melt to see you like this, so dependent on him, and how could he say no to you? It would break your heart, and he never wanted to do that.
“Is that what you want right now, love?” He cooed, leaning against the passenger door to look in at you. Sure, the awards started in half an hour and he wanted to be there for the pre-party, but you were his fiancee, he wasn’t going to let you go hungry the whole ride there, and there was a possibility that you wouldn’t even like the food they were serving. So he shut the car door, leaving you in there with the keys before rushing into the house to microwave your meal. A doting and devoted man to his woman, he loved and worshiped you like a goddess, the way you should be loved and worshiped.
The car ride to the venue was practically silent aside from the occasional tapping of your utensils against the bowl and the light sound of sipping from the tumbler he had brought so you wouldn’t get thirsty. You were the only person allowed to eat in his car, he was so lenient with you, at least that’s what you assumed. In actuality, the leniency was more-so a test, a never ending test until you failed, and up to now, you had passed every single time. When you wanted to go to the store, you never went by yourself, he had done wonders in making you fear the world around you and the people in it, so you always asked him to join you. Whenever a call from one of your family members would come in, you’d tell him first and ask him if it was okay for you to take the call, and that wasn’t even one of the rules that he had tried to establish, you just took it upon yourself to start doing it to build trust, which you both had immense amounts of for each other. The entire relationship was built on trust and transparency and some sort of control and brainwashing on his end, but you didn’t need to know that.
“How are your feet feeling?” He asked, highly observant, noticing that you had kicked off the heels that you were wearing at some point during the ride. “I know that you wanted to wear them tonight, but being uncomfortable won’t make you any more beautiful than you already are. I packed your flats as well, do you want to wear them?” You nodded your head quickly, your mouth still around the straw, slurping your drink as you looked at him with eyes filled with love, eyes that matched his own. “I’ll get them out of the trunk and then we can go in, alright? I’m so happy you get to join me, that everyone gets to see the wonderful woman that I get to spend my life with… I’m so lucky.”
The ride to the venue and actually going in gave you a headrush, and you had never felt so crowded and so overwhelmed in your entire life. You knew that the world knew about you in some sense, Lee Know had never actually kept you a secret, but you had never actually been introduced to anyone, they only knew your name and how much he loved you. Now that they finally got to see you, they wanted to know everything about you, get as many pictures of you as they could, touch you, feel you, see if you were really real, at least that’s what it felt like as the camera flashes blinded you and multiple different hands tried to grab you.
He stayed by your side the entire time, a protective arm wrapped around your waist as he ushered you through the crowds with the help of his security team. Low guttural curses slipped off his tongue and eyes that could kill, that he wished could kill, were shot in the direction of everyone that dared lay a finger on you. The faces and the names that were printed across their lanyard name tags of the people that actually did touch you were stored in his photographic memory for later, promising to deal with them when time allowed, no one got to just grab you and live on peacefully… not in Lee Knows book.
“Are they always like that?” You asked once you had finally made it through the doors. He had pulled you off to the side, giving you a moment to catch your breath, steady yourself, and blink the flashing lights from your eyes before allowing you to walk again. He chuckled quietly at the question, shaking his head as he fixed a strand of hair that had been moved out of place during the commotion.
“Not always… it’s just because you’re here. I think everyone’s been waiting to see you, and why wouldn’t they be? You’re the most stunning woman on the planet… Everyone wants a picture of you.” He leaned in to kiss you softly, his lips lingering just a second longer than usual against your own, and while you assumed it was because he just didn’t want the kiss to end, it was more of his way to mark his territory, to show everyone that you were his and his only. “Shall we get inside? We can find a seat, I’m sure your feet are tired.”
As soon as you walked into the actual party room, you were left in awe, completely starstruck by the amount of famous faces that you saw, their names immediately popping into your head as soon as you looked at them. Lee Know seemed unfazed, and it didn’t shock you that much, he had seen these people many times before, and his eyes were trained solely on you as he led you over to one of the tables closest to the stage. “There’s so many people here…” You whispered as he pulled out a chair for you, and he nodded slowly, looking around to make sure no one was looking at you right now. “It’s a lot…” You muttered, grabbing his hand and holding it tightly.
You had never been in a place, in a room with so many people before. The only place that you had even been to that seemed like it had even close to this many was the grocery store, and even that had you panicking if Lee Know didn’t stay close to you. This time, he would have to go up on the stage with the rest of the guys, and you’d be left alone at the table, by yourself, without him… It had you freaking out, your breaths coming faster as you looked up at him. “Hey, hey love… Don’t worry… I’m going to be right here until they call for myself and the guys, and then as soon as that’s over, I’ll be right back down here… It’s going to be alright.”
Oh how he loved the way you attached yourself to him, needed him, the way you seemed to go into hysterics when you thought he’d leave you for longer than a minute. It was, in every sense of the phrase, a dream come true for him. “I feel like they’re all looking at me…” You mumbled, your eyes darting around his body, and while he tried to act unbothered by it, his eyes followed your own, checking to see if you were just imagining the feeling, or if there really were people who were ballsy enough to look in your direction.
“It’s because of how amazing you look… As long as they know you’re here with me, let them look…” He squatted down in front of you, bringing your hand up to his lips and kissing along your knuckles as he looked up through his eyelashes at you, a look of pure adoration. “I’ll get us something to drink, and I’ll be right back, I promise. Just stay in your seat, rest your legs, I don’t want you walking too much.” And with one last kiss to the center of your hand, he got up, nodding, smiling, and greeting everyone that he brushed by or got close enough to talk to as you sat alone at the table.
There were a lot of people there, a lot of people that you had seen before online, people that Lee Know had told you about, people that were far more attractive than you. You felt self-conscious as you looked at them, the way their own dresses hugged their perfect bodies, long slender legs being shown through the slits that ran high up to their upper thighs. How could Lee Know still be proud to be in a place like this, with such gorgeous people, seen with someone like you?
Your eyes followed him through the crowd until he ended up at the bar, and not long after he got there did a beautiful woman come up next to him. His smile widened when he looked at her, and you tried not to get upset, he was polite, it’s not like he’d glare at her and tell her to leave. But then her hand was placed on his shoulder, and he didn’t try to brush it off, instead he moved closer to her, and it’s not like things were too loud in the room, he would have been able to hear her from where he was originally standing. His hand moved to her waist as he leaned closer to her, and you watched her lips move against his ear, and then the laughter of the both of them as his head fell back and she seductively ran her perfectly manicured fingers through her hair.
It was a sickening thing, watching the man that you loved flirt with another woman right in front of you, and it’s not like he didn’t know you were there, it almost felt like he was doing it on purpose. “Are you alright? You look cold… do you need a jacket or something?” A voice behind you said, and when you turned around, you saw Changbin with his own suit jacket already off and held out to slip over your shoulders. “You must be Y/N… I can tell. Lee Know said that you were absolutely stunning… and you’re the only one around here that fits the description.” He chuckled shyly, his eyes soft as he looked at you. “Well, here… If you need it…” He said after a moment of silence that was filled only by the droning of people talking around you, the sound becoming more of a background noise.
“Thank you… Do you and… and the other guys already have a table?” You asked, slipping your arms into the tailored jacket, the sleeves hanging loosely, but his body heat stuck to the fabric of the jacket, immediately warming you up when you put it on. He nodded his head, motioning his head a couple tables over where you saw the rest of the group sitting and talking amongst themselves. “Oh… Well, I’ll see the rest of you on stage soon then… Thank you again…” He nodded quickly, patting your shoulder before scurrying off to the table with the others.
His sudden exit seemed strange until you turned around and saw Lee Know standing there, his hands shaking, the sparkling grape juice in the cups spilling over the edges from the vibrations. “Is that his jacket?” He asked, his voice low as he looked over your form swimming in the large overcoat. You gave one swift nod and you saw his adams apple bob in his throat as his jaw set. “If you were cold, you could have asked me.” The stern tone that he took with you would have been scary if you weren’t so annoyed at the hypocrisy of the situation. “Give it here, I’ll return it to him. Take mine instead.”
He was already unbuttoning his own jacket when you finally spoke up. “The girl at the bar looked cold, why not give yours to her instead?” You said snidely, and his head that had been turned down to focus on the buttons snapped up quickly to glare at you, his eyes daring you to repeat what you had just said. “Don’t play dumb, I saw the way you smiled at her, the way you touched her, the way she whispered into your ear, so close she might as well have been kissing you. Maybe she was… But you can spend the evening with her, I’ll join the rest of the guys at their table.”
“If that’s what you’d like to do, go ahead. I won’t stop you. I’ll get you when it’s time to go home.” And he started buttoning his jacket back up, and you were kind of thrown back by how calm he was, how his agitated demeanor quickly dropped. “Do you want me to take you over to them?” He asked, and you shook your head, getting up from your chair and walking by him to go to the other table, never once had it crossed your mind that this was in fact a test and you had just failed. You had only assumed that he didn’t think it was a big deal, that his initial reaction was unnecessary since they were his members, they were like his brothers, he didn’t have to worry about them. “Enjoy your evening.”
The guys were quick to include you in their table talk, and most of the conversations were about Lee Know, sharing embarrassing stories about him, or hyping him up, or asking how the two of you got together which was a story that had a lot of missing pieces, but they never noticed just how much had been skipped over. The entire time you could feel eyes burning into your back from the table that you had been sitting at before, and you knew they were Lee Knows, he had refused to join you at the table with the other guys, opting to just sit and stare at you from across the room.
When they had been called up to accept their reward, you had been so proud of all of them, but your eyes were focused on Lee Know. Throughout the length of the evening, you had slowly but surely forgotten about the little incident at the bar, mainly because you came to realize that maybe your response to it had been blown out of proportion. Your entire relationship had been built on trust, and you knew that it was ridiculous to let one misconstrued moment ruin everything that the two of you had worked towards.
You’d have to wait until the end of the whole show before being able to apologize to him for acting the way you did, but luckily it gave you enough time to really think about how you’d word your apology so that he’d understand where you were coming from. The script was being written in your mind when Lee Know came over to the table, pulling Changbins jacket off of you without a word and then pulling you up from the chair. “We’re going to be going home early tonight, she needs to get some rest and I don’t want her stuck in the rush of people trying to get out of here when the show ends.” He said to excuse the both of you from the rest of the show, and the guys nodded in agreement as they all said their goodbyes to the both of you.
The reasonings seemed like he cared, like maybe he had gotten over the whole thing too, at least you hoped he did. His hand was held in yours as you both exited the building, and luckily, none of the reporters or fans had been prepared for your early exit, so they didn’t have the time to do much in regards to bum rushing the two of you on your way to the car.
He still helped you climb in, holding the door for you, but he was so quiet, it was eerie and there was this ominous feeling of impending doom that lingered in the air surrounding the two of you. “I’m sorry for jumping to conclusions…” You said when he got in on the drivers side, his door slamming so loudly that it had you jumping in your seat. “I’m not mad or anything… or upset… I love you…”
A long huff left his flared nostrils as he put the car into drive, peeling out of the parking spot and whipping out onto the road. “We’ll talk about this when we get home. I need to focus on driving.” He said, his voice monotonous, emotionless, and his eyes staring straight through the windshield. He didn’t look at you once, and usually his hand would hold onto yours throughout the car ride, but instead, the fingers of both his hands were wrapped tightly around the steering wheel while your hand laid on your lap, palm side up, waiting for him to finally slip his fingers between yours, but that moment never came, and before you knew it, he was pulling into the driveway.
Not another word was spoken as he yanked open your door, and his hand wasn’t extended to help you out of the car either. He didn’t walk beside you up to the house, and he didn’t even hold the door for you when he walked in first. It was obvious, beyond obvious that he was mad, and in the three and half years that you had been with him, you had never seen him this mad. Most of the time he’d yell at you, get it all out, and then it would be over within an hour or so after the both of you calmed down. Silence was scarier, silence meant that whatever he was feeling was only brewing, boiling, bubbling up until that silence was broken like glass.
You had already tried to apologize, there really wasn’t much else to say, so you went to the bedroom, slipping the dress from your shoulders and letting it pool at your feet before putting on one of the pajama sets he had gotten for you and wiping off all the makeup and brushing out your hair. He didn’t seem to want to talk to you, let alone see you tonight, so you opted on just finishing your nightly routine, grabbing a drink of water, and then going to bed. He’d join you at some point when he calmed down, or he’d just sleep on the recliner in the living room. Maybe all that the two of you needed was a night to yourselves to realize just how stupid the two of you had been.
Every part of you said to just stay in the room, to lock the door, drink the water from the bathroom sink and go to bed, but you still left the room, some little bit of hope pushing you out the door and sending you into the kitchen where you found him, his suit jacket hung over the back of his chair and the top buttons of his shirt undone. His hands were folded and his eyes were downcast, and if you didn’t know any better, you would have assumed that he had just fallen asleep at the table. “Why were you preparing for bed when I told you we’d talk when we got home?” His voice made you jump as you stood next to the fridge, your hand flying to your heart before letting out an awkward giggle and turning to look at him. “Is something funny? I don’t think it is.”
And your laughter died immediately, getting caught in your throat when he turned around and gave you a look that he had only ever given other people when they looked at you. You had never been on the receiving end, and now you understood why everyone backed off so quickly. “I said I was sorry for overreacting… I just want to go to sleep, Lee Know… We can talk in the morning when we’ve both had some time.”
He shook his head, and without warning he shoved the table away from him so he could stand up, two or three steps had him standing right in front of you. “You didn’t just overreact… I don’t give a fuck about your overreaction. I took you there as my fiancee, and you humiliate me in front of everyone in the business by accepting not only another man’s coat… But one of my band members. And then… And then, you go sit when them… beside him the entire fucking night while I sat by myself!” You dropped your eyes to the floor, your body shuddering under the heat of his anger, and you wanted nothing more than to get away from him, but he had you backed against the refrigerator now and there was nowhere to go. “Look at me when I’m talking to you!” He shouted, and you whimpered quietly, sinking into yourself, trying to make yourself smaller so that maybe he’d back up, but it only seemed to piss him off more.
“What do you want me to do? It’s already happened, I apologized, that’s all I can do…” You muttered, wrapping your arms around yourself and keeping your head turned away from him. You weren’t entirely sure what he was capable of when he got this mad because you had never experienced him this mad before. It was an unparalleled rage and you had nothing to compare it to. “I don’t want to argue with you, I don’t want to fight… I can’t handle that right now… You know I can’t…” You whispered, but he only let out a humorless chuckle as he pulled his hand back, and you assumed he was letting you go, but just as you were about to move his fist came down against the fridge, the sound ringing in your ears.
“No… No there’s a lot that you can do… you’re just too fucking stupid to do it.” You winced at the insult, but that wasn’t even the worst of it, his hand flew down to grab yours, holding it mere centimeters from your face. “See this ring? Do you see it!?” He shouted and you quickly nodded your head, blinking back the tears that were forming in your eyes. “It means that you’re mine! I oughta break your fucking finger around it, maybe it’ll remind you that it’s there, would that help you?” You shook your head quickly, your breaths ragged and uneven from trying to hold back your sobs. “Use your voice, you seemed to have a lot to say back at the event.”
“Stop…” You choked out, your knees shaking as they threatened to give out beneath you. “Please stop… I’m sorry… I’m sorry…” You sniffled loudly which caused you to cough, gagging on the phlegm and the bile that built up in your throat.
He scoffed as he threw your arm down, his teeth gritting together as he took a few steps back. “Stop what?” He posed, his voice soft for the first time since you left the room, and you would have been foolish to think that he was done. “Stop wanting my fiancee to be loyal to me?! Stop what, Y/N!?” He grabbed his coat from the chair and threw it at your feet as you slipped down the refrigerator, sinking until your butt reached the floor. “That’s what you should have been wearing tonight! My coat! Not Changbins, not Bangchans, not Hyunjins, my fucking coat! Or is it not good enough for you?! Fuck!”
His tangent was over, at least the verbal part of it, but his anger was far from drained as he started kicking over the chairs, finding anything to take his fury out on. The newly painted walls were punched as he shouted out curses, leaving behind holes that would have to be patched up and painted over. His fists were bloodied and bruised by the time he was done, and it felt like you had been watching him for hours, and maybe it really had been that long, you weren’t sure, all you really knew was that you wanted to go to go to sleep, and for the first time, you wanted to be locked in that room, you wanted to be by yourself comforted in the fact that you knew he wouldn’t come in there with you.
He never came over to check on you, instead he dropped down onto the couch, heavy breaths filling his lungs only to be let out with long drawn exhales from over exerting himself. You took the opportunity to get up now that he wasn’t watching you, using the edge of the countertop to pull yourself up off the floor, but the position you were in when you had made the move sent a sharp pain running down your side, a sharp gasp escaping you as you clung tightly to the counter to keep yourself from buckling.
The sound had him jumping up from the couch and running to your side, as if nothing had happened, his arm wrapping around you as worry clouded his previously anger filled eyes. “What’s wrong? What happened? Are you okay, love?” The questions shot out in a rapid fire progression, and the sudden switch only added to the dizziness you felt from the pain. You winced as you shied away from his touch, your face contorted into pain and disgust.
“I’m fine…” You lied, biting back the whimper that formed in your throat when you straightened out, moving past him to go to the bedroom. “I’m going to bed now, goodnight, Lee Know.” You stated, leaving him alone in the kitchen as you shut the bedroom door behind yourself and locked it.
This was like going right back to the beginning, but there was so much more on the line now, and he was hit with immediate regret as he looked around and realized just what he did. He had overreacted, he had taken it too far, letting one moment of jealousy take hold of all of his emotions and send him into a rage induced frenzy… It was foolish, it was uncalled for, but he had noticed it too late, the damage was already done.
Jealousy surely is a bitch, it drops down and attaches itself to you like a tick, sucking all of the happiness from you, making you sick, and even when you try to get rid of it, you’re left with its ugly head, the aftermath, continuing to drain you until there’s nothing left. With hesitant footsteps, he carried himself to the door, knocking lightly against it just to get your attention. “I love you… dream sweetly, my love… I’ll be right outside the door if you need me…” He whispered, lowering himself to the floor and leaning against the wall, his eyes slowly shutting. At least you were still there, you were still his, and that’s all he could think of as he drifted off into his own dreams, dreams of him and you and the future that was yet to come.

ABDL Micro-Fiction December 14th 2023
Prompt: Wife Daycare
Being the wife of a sports journalist was often frustrating. Karen wanted to spend more time with her husband and accompany him on his travels. However the boy’s club of sports reporting often meant that she wasn’t welcome in some of the exclusive box seats and parties he got to attend for some of the games. However, this time Karen’s husband had proposed an alternative. Apparently there was an exclusive club all of the other journalists dropped their wives off at where she could be entertained and spend time with other women while her husband attended the game. Karen wasn’t quite happy at the idea of getting dropped off at “Wife Daycare” however, a concept which had made her husband laugh. But regardless, the exterior of the building looked nice. Just a nondescript clubhouse in California. Karen walked through the doors and was greeted by a perky looking young woman in a crisp, baby-blue polo shirt. “Oh hello Ms. We’re happy to have you spending time with us today.” The young woman took Karen by the hand (which was odd but she ignored it) and took Karen out into a large central room, reminiscent of a fancy modern ski lodge. However, once Karen saw the room she let out a gasp of horror. The room was full of women of various ages walking around, speaking to each other, and engaged in various activities. All of them were smartly dressed, similar to Karen, with the one difference being that none of them were wearing anything below the waist besides thick, puffy, adult diapers. Some of them were simply standing around holding wine glasses, engaged in conversation, others had pacifiers in their mouths while they played games with childish toys on the floor, and although she couldn’t be sure, Karen felt herself cringe as she thought she saw one women in the corner on the other side of the room with her legs in the air having a dirty diaper changed by a muscular young man who looked about ten years younger than her. Interspersed throughout the room as well were attractive young men and women in blue polo shirts attending to every need of the diapered female guests. It was all far too much for Karen to take in at once. Her mind reeled but she felt appalled. “What is this?” She demanded. “This is the wife daycare.” The perky young attendant responded with a smile. “While your husbands are at the game we make sure all your needs are taken care of and you can be happy and secure and socialize with other women in your position.” Karen wanted to gag. “But this is wrong. It’s highly offensive. How dare you infantilize all these women like this.” The young attendant seemed to either not hear or not comprehend Karen’s words; however, she simply kept smiling at her and indicated that Karen should walk out onto the floor. Karen considered turning on her heels and bolting out of the room but she knew that she was stranded here without a car and oddly something compelled her to want to see what sort of madness was going on. A slightly older woman with curly orange hair and thick makeup approached Karen, wine glass in hand, and lazily greeted her. “First time?” The woman asked. “Trust me it’s not so bad. In fact, this place is great.” She spread her hands out to indicate the whole area, her grandiose gesture made somewhat ridiculous by the fact that she seemed to be wearing nothing except a silky purple slip and a thick plasticy white diaper between her legs. “Think of it as a spa vacation. They wait on you hand and foot. You do nothing for yourself. Honestly it’s the ultimate relaxation.” The woman took another sip of her wine as Karen looked at her skeptically. The strange lady did seem to be having a good time. “But… What about the diapers?” Karen asked. The orange haired lady didn’t say anything, pausing in conversation as she closed her eyes and a look of contentment washed over her face. Karen looked on in horror as she could suddenly hear a loud hissing sound and the orange haired woman’s diaper swelled and sagged and yellowed right in front of her eyes. She groaned slightly. “Mmph. Trust me dear. These are the best part.”

Each week Lone Star Daily looks to provide you with a decent (not comprehensive) list of the fanfics that have been posted for the week. The week runs from Friday - Thursday, as that way it does give us an opportunity to put the list together. There’s no requirement to tag us as we will check the tags #911 lone star fic and #911lsfic while also combing through ao3. We currently are only going to post new fics, not updates. You can check out this week’s fics below the cut.
All our past recs can be found on this page.
Please feel free to give this post a boost to give our writers a chance to receive some love for the work they do for the fandom.
(if your fic is not tagged with a tumblr, it’s because we couldn’t find one - feel free to send us a message and we’ll be happy to add one)

Sometimes in order to find out just how much you’re meant to be with someone, you have to fall apart and lose them first.
what I want (what you deserve) by @rmd-writes
↳  (TK x Carlos | Coda | E | 4K)
TK might feel numb, he might feel like everything is grey, but for Carlos, TK burns bright; there’s something shining in him that Carlos is inexplicably drawn to, wants to draw the embers out of him so he can see it for himself. He doesn’t even know TK, not really, but he knows this – TK is good. He’s beautiful. Carlos wants him to feel like it.
So Carlos waits for TK to come to him, he makes him feel good, he gives TK whatever TK will let him give and tries to bank the sparks in his chest that are threatening to grow into something more. It’s not enough, but it’s what he can have.
Besides, he hates being the one to do the chasing.
Say you’ll be mine by @chaotictarlos

In which TK and Carlos are mutually pinning for each other because of course they are.
Too Far from Me by @moviegeek03
↳  (TK x Carlos | Hurt/Comfort | G | 4K +)
Nothing was what either had planned. For Carlos, he had planned to move out of this shoddy apartment and into his dream home months ago. Then, everything changed. The original 126 crew were all gone. All the people he’d known for years. For TK, well, he’d lost his sobriety, his supposed soulmate, his home. Everything had changed. For both of them. Neither knew how much more it would change for them. Not until one night where they start talking to each other through the thin walls of their crappy apartments.

↳  (TK x Carlos | Hurt/Comfort | T | 1.6K)
Sometimes it’s easy to pretend that they were never apart, that their breakup had been nothing more than a bad dream. But as much as they might like that to be the case, there are some reminders that are too tangible to be ignored. Exhibit A: a scar on Carlos that was absolutely not there before and forces TK to grapple with the idea of what could have happened during time apart.

There’s many things that terrify a first responder.
For starters, going to an emergency call where they know the address or the people involved in the accident, because then you have to pretend, and suck it up, and be professional.
Then the other one, is when a first responder you know, is the subject of a call, and you know that they have people waiting on the other side for them.

Skull’s Gem chapter 1: The Boss and the Designer
Being the younger sister of a Pokémon Professor was both a blessing and a curse for Pokémon fashion designer, Sapphire Kukui. Her older brother, Kalani Kukui, had quickly become famous in the Alola region once he became a professor so it was a bit difficult for her to build her own credibility and reputation, but she managed. Her designs were highly requested throughout not only Alola but the other regions as well. She recently expanded her business by designing clothes for people as well as Pokémon.
Sapphire was getting ready to make a delivery when Kalani walked into her room.
Kalani: Hey, sis. Where you headed?
Sapphire: I’m heading out on a delivery. First to Akala Island to drop off my monthly donation to the Paniola Ranch daycare then I had an order from Po Town on Ula’Ula Island.
Kalani: Po Town? Sapph, you’ve heard the rumors about that place, right?
Sapphire: Yeah, and I’ll be fine. I have a great team of Pokémon and obviously if one of their own requested business from an outsider, they won’t do anything.
Kalani: *sigh* Alright. I trust you but just promise me you’ll be careful.
Sapphire: Promise. Go visit your wife. You need a break.
Kalani smiles as he pats her head and pulls her into a quick hug before she left the house and called her Salamence on her ride pager. Salamence let her board his back then flew to the ranch, where Sapphire grabbed her bag and headed into the daycare.
Sapphire: Marissa, I have my monthly donation.
Marissa: Sapphire, you’re a saint. Thank you so much.
Sapphire: No worries. I love helping out and the Pokémon seem to love getting dressed up.
Marissa: That they do. A friend of mine’s daughter just started a new job working with a lot more Pokémon than we do so I passed one of your business cards to her.
Sapphire: Awesome! I can’t wait to hear from her. Thanks, Marissa. I’m heading out. I have another delivery to make.
Sapphire waved to Marissa and the rest of the staff as she walked outside and got back on Salmence’s back.
Sapphire: Alright, buddy. We’re off to Po Town.
Salamence nodded in understanding and took off. Sapphire was so happy that she took the steps to register him as a ride Pokémon. He was happiest when he was flying through the skies instead of being cooped up inside his Pokeball. Sapphire patted his head as Salamence landed outside the gates to Po Town. She slid off of his back and adjusted her bag before returning him to his Pokeball and grabbing her umbrella.
Sapphire: Alright. Let’s hope that I don’t end up lying to Kalani.
She opened her umbrella and walked through the gate only to be met by the Team Skull members who were stationed to guard it.
Female Grunt: Yo! Who’s this walking onto our turf!?
Sapphire: Sapphire Kukui. I’m delivering an order for someone named Plumeria.
Male Grunt: Big Sis? What could she possibly have ordered from the baby sis of the loser Pokémon professor?
Sapphire: *sigh* If you had done your research, you’d know that I’m not just Professor Kukui’s little sister. I’m a fashion designer that specializes in Pokémon outfits. Can someone please just either escort me to Plumeria or bring her out here? I just want to give her her order and go.
???: Who ordered what now?
Sapphire froze. That voice was familiar, though it was deeper than when she’d last heard it over ten years ago. She last heard it when she left Alola to expand on her business. She turned around and had to lift her head to be able to once again stare into the stormy gray eyes that she’d loved looking into during her teen years.
Sapphire: *breathlessly* Guzma.
Guzma’s eyes widened once he realized just who the young woman standing in front of him was.
Guzma: Sapphire? Arceus, it’s been forever. How have ya been? Ya look…….
A soft blush dusts his cheeks as he looks her up and down, taking in just how much she had changed. He clears his throat as he rubs the back of his neck.
Guzma: Ya look amazin’.
Sapphire blushes as she looks down, pulling her umbrella closer to her in an attempt to hide her face.
Sapphire: Thank you.
MG: Yo, boss! You know this chick!?
Guzma: Yeah, she’s cool! Why ya here, Sapph?
Sapphire: I have a delivery for Plumeria. She ordered some bandanas from me.
Guzma looks to the grunts behind her and glares at them.
Guzma: And you dunces just let her stand here in the rain!? Move!
The grunts run in different directions, fearful of their boss’ rage, and Guzma returns his gaze back down to Sapphire.
Guzma: Come on, Sapphire. I’ll take ya to Plumes.
He walks past her and Sapphire follows him. She stares at his back, her head swirling with questions.
Guzma: I can see the gears in yer head turnin’, Sapph, and I’m not even lookin’ at ya.
Sapphire: You left.
Guzma: Yep.
Sapphire: Without telling me.
Guzma: Correct again.
Sapphire: Why?
Guzma stops when they reach the mansion so Sapphire also paused.
Sapphire: Guzma?
She could see his clenched fists shaking.
Guzma: Doesn’t matter.
Sapphire: Guzma.
He stays silent as they enter the rundown mansion. Sapphire looked around as she closed her umbrella and set it by the door.
Sapphire: This is…..homey.
Guzma: It’s garbage but it’s a perfect home for a bunch of abandoned misfits like us.
Sapphire paused and stared at Guzma’s back. She remembered how many times he’d attempted the Island Trial but always ended up losing to one of the captains. The Island Trial was just one of many things he had tried but failed at.
Sapphire: So, what makes you all misfits?
Guzma: Either lost the Island Trial or deemed failures by adults. Had nowhere else to go or fit in. I found everyone and brought them together, then we came home. We’re more than a team. We’re a family.
Sapphire reached out, wanting to put her hand on his back, but was interrupted.
Plumeria: Sapphire Kukui, the most famous fashion designer in Alola.
Sapphire: *blushing* Th-That’s me. Are you Plumeria?
Plumeria: You got it. I can’t wait to see what you came up with.
Sapphire smiles as she pulls a couple of bandanas out of her bag.
Sapphire: I remember you telling me that most of your Pokemon are Poison types so I chose a dark purple color for the base and, since Salazzle is your primary partner, I included flames into the design.
Plumeria took the bandanas and inspected them.
Plumeria: They’re so soft. What kind of material is this?
Sapphire: Silk. Most of my material is made from the webs of Spinarak and Ariados.
Plumeria: Amazing. I admire that you work so closely with your Pokemon to create such lovely clothes.
Sapphire: Thank you. I’d be nowhere without my Pokemon.
Guzma watches them as they talk and can’t help the small twitch of his lips, though he quickly shook it away. He wouldn’t let himself dream. He couldn’t.
Sapphire: Alright, Plumeria, I’m glad you’re happy with your order. I’ll be taking my leave now.
Sapphire turned around and looked up at Guzma, smiling as she made eye contact.
Sapphire: It was good seeing you again, Guzma.
She grabbed her umbrella and headed out the door, closing it behind her.
***GUZMA’S POV***
Plumeria: So, how long have you been in love with her?
My face heated up and turned bright as I turned to her.
Guzma: Wha!? I’m not-!?
Plumeria: Don’t lie to me, Guzma. I saw you staring at her the entire time she and I were talking. So, answer my question. How long?
Nothin’ ever got past Plumes. I sigh as I run my fingers through my hair.
Guzma: Since we were brats. I was friends with her brother and one day, she started taggin’ along. She quickly got closer to me than her brother was and then I watched her grow into an amazin’ trainer and a beautiful woman. We were sixteen when it hit me like a rampagin’ Tauros. I was talkin’ to Ma about her the day of the incident and how I was goin’ to ask her to be my girl, then the old man came home and you know how that ends. I left the island that day, never sayin’ a word to her. Then, she left Alola and I hid out here. Now, she’s back and a famous fashion designer and I’m the delinquent boss of a band of misfits who cause trouble for trial goers. She’s too good for me, Plumes, and all my baggage would just drag her down. She doesn’t need that.
Plumeria: Don’t you think you should let her decide that?
I didn’t answer her. I just went up to my room to lay in my hammock. Sapphire’s better off without me in her life and I’m stickin’ to that resolve. No matter how much it hurts.

Under star-lit skies - Moon/Sun x reader part 1
Okay so I started writing this cuz my obsession for Sun and Moon came back since I keep getting posts and fanart of them so here is the first part of the fanfic you can read it on Ao3 linked in my bio :3c
Tumblr media
it was one of those days, one where you and your class had to go to a stupid location outside of town. You weren’t eager about it since you preferred being closed in the confinement of your dorm room, but an outing was necessary even for you. You got up from your bed unwillingly and started getting dressed, some sweatpants a t-shirt and a hoodie on top, was pretty easygoing and comfortable for a day out.
you weren’t sure where you were going until it came into focus, the Freddy Fazbear Pizzaplex for some reason you weren’t going to question it since your school did choose some random places all the time, not caring if it’s educational or not, but you guessed it was because of the way the pizzaplex was built, could be really interesting or maybe how the animatronics worked. You all went into the pizzaplex being greeted by some basic-looking bots holding maps
“Take a map, take a map,,
you take one and look the other way a little creeped out, you hope those poor things weren’t sentient like the bigger ones otherwise this would’ve been fucked up. The tour starts then, going around the entire pizzaplex from Gator golf to Roxy raceway, it was pleasant meeting the big animatronics in charge of entertainment. Roxy, in charge of Roxy Raceway, was a wolf animatronic with long grey hair and a puff of green in the front, while Gator Golf was attended by Monty, an alligator-like animatronic with icon star-shaped sunglasses, he was pretty cool. Then you arrived at the star of the gang Freddy Fazbear himself, he was a nice bear animatronic with a little top hat on his head and an iconic earring on his left ear. He waved at everyone with a happy smile on his face, you waved back catching his attention, noticing you he winked at you also doing finger guns, you smiled and blushed a little bit at that (blushing over an animatronic? Are you okay??)
You then arrived at your last stop, the Superstar Daycare. It was a place full of kids, also full of toys and arts&crafts stuff (of course like the name said it was a daycare) but something caught your eye, the animatronic that was attending the children, it was a jester-like robot with a sun for a head that could spin around when it wanted to
“Hello everyone! I am Sun! the daycare attendant I hope you guys had a lovely tour so far!,,
he says lively his rays on his head spinning around happily, Sun huh? (ironic isn’t it) You were fascinated by him, he was really, pretty? I guess you could call him pretty.
When you got back to your dorm you picked up your laptop right away and started doing research on Fazbear Entertainment, finding a lot of weird stuff about some lawsuits and shit like that, you didn’t care you went on to look if the pizzaplex out of town was looking for a job, you really needed one and that was a big place so maybe they did need some human personal, you were also hoping you’d get to work near or in the daycare, you wanted to know more about Sun. Thinking about that you looked up the Superstar Daycare for some more information and found yet another lawsuit about the daycare this time, you read through it.
“my son was traumatised by your stupid daycare attendant and can’t sleep with the lights off anymore, whatever that thing did to him. You should decommission it right away it is not safe for children,,
you scrunch up your nose at that, because there is no way this person was talking about Sun seemed like a nice guy! So you did more research finding out the animatronic they were talking about was not Sun, but an animatronic called Moon, he was the nap time attendant and apparently, they were two separate animatronics, which intrigued you even more.
Doing even more research you find out they were actually looking to hire someone, it didn't say in which position but you weren't one to complain about stuff like that so you wrote an email and sent it, you weren't expecting a reply right away so you decided to go to bed.
It was dark, and something was bothering you but you couldn't put your finger on it, you found yourself in a jungle gym of some sort crumbled up like a pretzel, you started moving in front of you or what you thought was in front of you, while moving you could hear some sort of music, like a soft melody getting closer and closer until it stopped, you stopped as well, looking around now trying to understand where you were.
clang.
clang.
clang.
BOOM.
You wake up in your bed full of sweat and your heart beating super fast, you get your phone from your nightstand only to see it is 2 am, you definitely can't sleep after this weird ass nightmare you just add so you decide to start scrolling through social media. Before you get the chance to do that tho you get a notification from your emails, saying that Fazbear Entertainment sent a reply to your email, accepting your application!
You get up to do a little victory dance happy for it to begin.
tomorrow is another day.
Tumblr media
this is how they will look in the fanfic since they are separate animatronics here the one in the middle is my persona ignore them I insert myself in every fandom I go in lol!!

Would you rather take a walk in the cold rain, or in the blistering heat? Neither is very appealing, but probably the rain as when you’re finished you can go home, have a bath and a hot drink and warm up under the covers.
Name something of great importance to you. Animals.
How do you typically go about resolving an argument? Depends on the argument and how important it is that I’m right lol.
What is your favorite card game? I’m not really that into card games.
If it were revealed that Religion in its entirety did not actually exist, would your outlook on life be any different? I’m not religious anyway so nothing would change for me. I’d be probably be relieved and maybe a bit smug about it though, hahah.
Which countries) have you been to? / Which was your favorite? I’ve been to - England, France, Scotland, Wales, Italy, Belgium, Germany, Italy, Austria, Switzerland, Spain, Norway, Singapore, Dubai, the UAE, Qatar, Australia, Malaysia and Canada....I think that’s it. My favourites are Switzerland, Italy and Canada.
Have you changed your mind about anything important this week? No, I don’t think so. This week has been pretty chilled, all things considered.
When was the last time that you were in a hospital? Uh, about five years ago when I had to go for my pelvic scans.
What kinds of hobbies are you into? Surveys, watching TV/movies, travelling, horse-riding, walking and exploring new places. When I have money, I also like shopping and going for meals, and I used to LOVE skiing too.
Describe to me what a typical Friday night for you entails. Not much as I’m normally exhausted from working all week. I tend to finish around 1-2pm, pick the dog up, go home, shower, eat and flop in the front of the TV lol. Sometimes we’ll get a takeaway too.
If you had the chance to slip through a portal, despite being aware of any of effects and/or consequences, would you do it? No, I don’t think so.
Do you trust your gut instinct? Yes.
How often do you suffer from panic/anxiety attacks? Not at all anymore, but I used to suffer really badly when I was a teenager/student, and I’ve had a few into adulthood too unfortunately. The last one was a good three years ago now.
As a child, were you satisfied with your home life? Yeah, my actual upbringing at home was fantastic. I wasn’t too happy with school and stuff though.
How many alcoholic beverages do you consume per month on average? Zero. I haven’t touched alcohol for about a year.
If you could do ANYTHING for a living, what would you do? I love what I do now, but maybe something a bit less physical eventually - so maybe running a doggy daycare so I wasn’t walking 4-5 hours a day. Or I’d love to be like, a ride leader at a stables so I could ride all day but not have the commitment of my own horse.
Which color tends to appear most in your wardrobe? Black, grey, purple.
What did you do for your last birthday? I feel like this question is coming up a lot lately. Anyway, I worked until I think about 2pm, then as my mum was with me, we went to the pub for lunch and then I came home to open presents. Mike and I then went out the next day as he was working all day on my actual birthday.
What was your opinion about 2012, and the “end of days?” Ha, this questions just makes me feel old.
Are you interested in anyone at the moment? What are some things that make that person so special? My husband, and well, all sorts. He’s there for me no matter what. He loves me for who I am. He lets me have multiple cats even though he’d prefer us to have none. He puts up with my obsessive cleaning/tidying and lets me burn wax melts all day long lol.
Name five things that you like about yourself. 1 - my determination. 2 - my intelligence. 3 - how good I am with animals. 4 - my memory. 5 - how successful I’ve made my business all on my own.
Name one thing that you would like to change about yourself. My weight and appetite. And yes, I know that’s two things hahah. I have absolutely no self-restraint when it comes to food.
Which parent was more strict when you were growing up? My dad, for sure.
What would your last meal consist of if you could choose it? A very rare steak with lots of fat and garlic butter, rosemary fries and a side of onion rings.
What are some things that initially attract you to the preferred sex? A nice smile, kind eyes, nice arms. I also appreciate people who go out of their way to help strangers and who are nice to serving staff etc. They have to be good with animals too.
What was the last thing that you did that made you feel accomplished? I got Joe to canter on his dodgy rein! That sounds really minor but he hadn’t been ridden for a few weeks and my instructor said everyone else had struggled to get him into canter but I managed it!
Tell me something about your best friend. He’s done a lot of his own tattoos.

happy to see this is still happening!! mw jobs?
We are too, and happy to see you're still with us! I'd say most wanted jobs are those who actually work at the Stowe Ski Resort. Maids, cooks, baristas, instructors, park rangers, business owners, daycare attendants, etc. That or people who work nearby in town? Both would be great, though of course you're not limited to just these!
