I do NOT condone Takumi’s actions or think he is a good person. This is for funsies!!

Takumi understood your situation very well. That night, the night you fell into his arms crying, he knew. He knew how easy it would be to have you wrapped around his finger. You had called him earlier that day, he could only imagine what you looked like. A warm coat wrapped around you, your bag hanging on your arm as you drank coffee while sitting in a cafe. The Vivianne Westwood necklace he bought for you months ago sitting pretty around your neck. You had called from a cafe, from what he could tell by the background noise. “Takumi, it’s been awhile. Wanna hang out sometime?”

You knew he wouldn’t deny you. Your history being your confidence. Takumi always had puppy eyes for you, his best friend. One day he came to your house, flowers in hand, “Y/n, be my girlfriend.” He demanded from you. Your boyfriend was sitting on the couch, peeking around you and seeing the bassist standing at your door looking at you like you were his soulmate. The door opened slightly more, Takumi was able to see your boyfriend sitting on the couch from the door. “Why is he here?”

After you rejected him, slamming the door in his face, you didn’t talk for months. Until today, when you called him, sipping coffee without a care in the world. He said yes of course. He didn’t want anything more than to hang out with you. So one thing led to another and later that day you fell into his arms crying over your boyfriend. Crying your eyes out. Takumi took in your scent, enjoying how you always smelt like vanilla. “Is this why you called?”

He sat you down gently on the couch, still towering over you somehow. “I don’t..understand. First I lose my job! I’m broke, Takumi. And then a day later I catch him with some prostitute on my bed!” You insulted, she wasn’t really a prostitute. But you knew better than to blame infidelity on the woman, which is why you had dragged him out of the house, yelling and crying while doing so. You didn’t really want your boyfriend gone, but cheating was something unforgivable. Takumi traced his hands across your back, “so you came to me?”

“You’re all I have…”

Those were the words that broke Takumi. Sure, he had always had his eyes set on you, but knowing that you needed him was more than enough to make him want to keep you all to himself.

Thus began the dependence.

You moved out, leaving the house with your boyfriend. A pretty pink and white decorated room waiting for you in Takumis house. Next was the food. Takumi ordered groceries, not even wanting for one of you guys to go out and get them. He made you cook, every little meal. Shopping sprees were your favorite, he enjoyed them too. You clinging to his arm, looking all pretty while you dragged him around the mall. Fans would take pictures every once in awhile, who wouldn’t?

The height difference funnily reminded you of Elvis and Priscilla in the Priscilla movie. He pulled out his card the second your eyes lingered on an item for more than a minute. Eventually you were completely dependent on him. You hadn’t realized it till you attempted to leave.

“Takumi, I think I’m gonna move out.”

Your voice sank into his heart. He watched as you cut up a cucumber from the kitchen, acting as if you didn’t just announce your plans to leave him. He stood up from his seat, a strand of hair falling in front of his face. The lights were dim. Takumi slammed his hands on the counter. “Move out?” Takumi repeated monotonously before chuckling. “You? Move out? With what money? You have nothing, Y/n. You had nothing the moment you called me. You have nothing still, nothing but me.”

Then it hit you.

Takumi really is…all you have.

The knife slipped, blood spilling out from the cut on your finger.

“So clumsy. I’ll get the bandaids,” Takumi said in response. His eyes taking in the crimson liquid. He turned around and began walking to get the bandaids. Your lips parted slightly, in shock mainly. Not because you had cut yourself, but because you were trapped and hadn’t even realized. He paused, turning his head to look at you one more time before walking into the bathroom. “I bought them by the way.” He chucked to himself. Thinking it was funny how everything you had now was his. “I..what..”

The necklace he bought for you two years ago today, still sitting pretty on your neck. It had already been that long.

The truth is, you are all he has. The second you actually find a way out of his little trap, he’ll freak. Despite you being entirely dependent on him, he’s mentally all yours.

All he has.

All you have.

Besties I’m consumed and conflicted by Nana and Takumi.

There’s so much deep conflicting emotions I have about both of them but let’s be real.. everyone saying Takumi was a shitty person is completely negating the fact that so was Hachi. No she didn’t deserve all the awful things that happen to her but she was mean to Takumi, used him, cheated on him first, had poor communication, hid her pregnancy, wasn’t open with her friends or Nobu about everything. She wanted so badly to look like a good person even though she wasn’t. She is the same person as Takumi.

My opinion of Hachi's love struggle from personal experience.

To start with, this is my own interpretation, if anyone has other interpretations of the manga and Hachi's character that's totally fine! I've just been thinking on the manga more and more since i read it fully and i genuinely feel Hachi is a lesbian who suffers with feelings of comphet and idealisation of a 'normal romance' which she tries to pursue during the series.

To start with her relationship with Asano started from her being shown attention from someone who is much older and is clearly just grooming her for his own desires. Her first love being with Asano also screwed her idea of what a romance should be like. Getting mistreated, ignored and kept a secret like she's someone to be ashamed of which leads into how she approaches all of her romances from then on. For Hachi as long as they love her, even if it's not in the way she wants she starts to believe she loves them.

Her relationship with Shouji had her initially jumping to some feelings on her first meeting but deciding ultimately to try and just be friends with him bond with another guy 'without ulterior motives' and just become friends. However as we know Shouji liked her and everyone around her started to pressure her into getting into the romance with him. Especially around the fact Shouji started it through guilt tripping her for sex. Nana cared for Shouji, she didn't 'love him' which explains how she treats him. She likes having a boyfriend because she likes being loved. She gets really uncomfortable with the way he kinda mainly uses her for sex than actually showing romantic feelings towards her herself. Like the main thing she did to make him feel justified in cheating with her is the fact that she didn't want to just sleep with him over and over when he wanted. Shouji just wanted her to be his 'pet dog' and got upset the moment Hachi started making her own friends outside of him and Jun. Overall Hachi's 'love' for Shouji is just a dependence on the first somewhat normal guy who loved her, especially when Jun her only real friend left to Tokyo her 'love' for Shouji was the main thing keeping her going. For someone like Hachi she needs love to feel like life is worth living, she has no goals outside of marrying someone and having children, this is in part due to how society views women but also she never really had stable relationships or friendships growing up.

I find it really interesting to note that Hachi never had feelings for Nobu until Nana started bringing it up and Nobu himself starting to try and confess and show he loves her. She again falls in a cycle like she did with Shouji, the big difference being that Nobu is a genuinely nice guy as a whole and for Hachi it's hard to really justify that she doesn't have romantic feelings for him, that and she clearly is attached to Nobu as a friend, they're similar in ways. However Hachi has never had a male friend who hasn't suddenly decided they loved her and wanted to sleep with her. For Hachi she thinks the moment she turns him down he'll abandon her. We know this isn't true given Nobu and Hachi clearly made up in the timeskip and started getting along better in the last few chapters of the manga. However basically everyone in Hachi's life seems to leave her behind or infantilize her and tries to control her. Hachi's emotions are always in control of someone else, the only action she had complete control over was choosing to keep her baby regardless of what is best for anyone else. A big part of her character is the fact that she wants a normal family. Now onto her love for Takumi. A big thing a lot of lesbians tend to latch onto with guys they love, is usually they're some sort of ideal they usually can't attain. And because of this they somewhat feel fictional and out of reach and therefor someone they can focus all of their affection onto often in a way of trying to prove to themselves they like men. Hachi never really initially plans to fall for Takumi, it's just a love and affection she doesn't put much weight onto. However when she meets Takumi in person for the first time, she just found out Nana and Ren are dating. In Hachi's pov any feelings she has for Nana are an 'unrequited love' but she can't deal with Nana getting further and further away from her. Takumi being in the same circle that Nana and Blast are ending up in is a way of her forceably tying herself into the same circle. Hachi herself knows it's wrong and that it won't turn out well but can't help herself because she assume everyone is leaving her behind. She tries to leave him until the pregnancy happens but he is realistically the only one who could support her financially through the situation. She convinces herself over and over throughout the story that staying with Takumi is the only thing she can possibly do once she found herself in the situation.

I honestly believe the first person Hachi truly loved on her own terms was Nana. It's stated often throughout the text how, how she felt with Nana was 'like the bliss of a first love' and how soothing and relaxed she feels around her. Hachi has clear struggles in accepting her feelings towards Nana due to her own misconceptions that what she wants and needs to be happy is falling in love with a man, getting married and having children. In fact it's clear she recognises her feelings for Nana but in her mind Nana loves Ren and any love she feels for Nana won't be reciprocated. It's because of this that she starts sleeping with Takumi to begin with. She feels an immense sense of isolation and fear around her feelings with Nana. It's because of this that she bases her entire worth around who loves her rather than who she actually loves on her own terms. Many lesbians struggle with comphet around their feelings because society makes women feel that romance which don't revolve around a man or having children. Hachi's obsessive need for love traps her and makes her be unable to be happy and free, unlike how she initially assumes love would make her feel. I personally believe if the series continued Hachi would figure out how she feels around Takumi and Nobu and then her feelings around Nana by the end of it.

Since I written this

I thought (and I still thinking) so much about it thanks to some of you guys and I get a new point of view about it.

1 ) So I just realize that “Everyone" thinks that nana replace yasu with ren .. I received so many messages and comments in every social I post about it like this :

Hell No.

Ok. She love him , (yasu yes.) I think it me too indeed like I said before. ….But she also loves ren too! In 57👇chapter she felts so sad when ren said to her that perhaps it would be better to cancel the wedding because their love no needed to anything else especially of a piece of paper. So why she felt like she was dying there?

Because she loves ren. (!)…In another way but she loves ren too so much .

And another thing: no, yasu is not asexual. lol

2) I received something like this too👇

Just to be honest in the story nana say that she becomes “in love“ or she feel she bonded with yasu, but after this moment.. and during That period of time that nana and ren were apart.. i believe in nana x ren... now I was just confused😐

Because ren has a very sad fate in the end in everypoint you can see his life . So even nana it is like this . Their are really our Sid An Nancy For real 😳😆…

SO again, ren was not perfect.. but either love it is perfect like dreams sometimes and it’s so illogical for everyone who we love. So I think they loved each other no matter what happened.

Its so clear that yasu loves nana (anyway poor miu for be “the replaced “ by yasu for his secret love for nana😅 😂 😳 no? ) and her love his presence … maybe she really loves him as well but its not my point now, I know she runs to yasu whenever she has a problem or when she has afraid of something. But sometimes we escape from the person who we love more because we are afraid of being hurt by the person we care most about. I know it’s illogical thing but it’s so real .

That’s why I believe and I hope, no matter in the manga or in the anime , Nana and Ren are soulmates. I think we have this idea that soulmates are "perfect" in a way and Ai Yazawahas a great way of showing you that'snot exactly true! Even soul mates don't get a happy ending because that's how Life is.

In the end my only hope is that nana love ren a little more no matter what .. despite knowing that yasu was or is still so special for her…🙏🏻 . i know im crazy that i still believe in nanaxren and their “love” no matter what Despite knowing that shions “thank you theory”in 77 chapters 👇 and that shin speech with nobu in 50chapter … im totally insane yep 👍

Anyway i feel that Nana still was hurt about rens decision of leave her years ago for his career but worst of it she was cold to him because she was jealous of reira for have steal ren s heart(especially just only Singing…) so I think nana was so confused about her ego and no because she doesn't love him anymore... that's why she didn't want to see him. She escapes from him because She was hurt.

So Their love its full of suffering about past issues not yet resolved.

… and despite this👇

Yea it’s so deep this panel, 👆 that I feel so sorry for ren sometimes just only thinking about it…(maybe it’s true this theory so this is the end of the story! ) but now I remember to myself there’s no a love of first class and love of second class in the end…. especially in this manga.😂

I think also in a strange way anyway that takumi loved hachi and her loved him despite the fact that he was a raper …..! ( For example . )

Omg 😳 yes ….and hachi still wanted to be there for him . This is so crazy but its like the story goes.

So what!? Love is not perfect. In the end.

Sai Mi sono imbattuta in questa teoria , che prende sempre piu piede secondo me.

Perche rileggendo il manga mille volte ho percepito anche io questa teoria, ma sempre di più… alla fine.

Yasu e nana sono innamorati veramente, ren è parte del cuore di nana ovviamente.. ma nel profondo yasu è importante quanto ren. Lo so è tosta 😂

Ma è reale. Se vi ricordate Anche ren ha chiesto di sposarla per far si che cosi lei possa “buttare “fuori dal suo cuore il pelatino lol parole di ren lol

Tutto questo è un po’ toccante a mio avviso. Perche in fin dei conti molti personaggi nella storia di nana soffrono una certa solitudine ma pensare che ren ami nana sapendo che non è ricambiato e questo potrebbe essere causa una delle cause del proprio l’uso di droghe mi inquieta 😞

Ren ha chiesto a nana di sposarlo per averla tutta per se. E che sarebbe arrivato a ucciderla per essere solo sua, nel senso che aveva a volte questi desideri tali confessati a reira.., in un capitolo ben preciso dice questo.

ma andando avanti nei capitoli, nella storia lui matura molto e si dice che se anche nana abbia qualcuno altro nel suo cuore invece che lui.. lei accetterebbe per l’amore che prova per lei. lo fa crescere da diventere un essere umano gentile rispetto a tempo che era possessivo al limite... perche sa.

Ad esempio si prende in esempio confronto tra yasu e nana parlando della propria band e come l’importanza di un grazie ricevuto da yasu possa essere piu importante di un ti amo e cosi via.. e nel capitolo successivo o nello stesso non ricordo bene, infatti shion , parlando alla vera misato sorella di nana (anch’essa in sofferenza per l’amore che prova per il fratello , tale rapporto lo si ricorda con nana e yasu effettivamente lool sara genetica innamorarsi della figura del fratello in se come yasu è per nana alla fine ), shion la risollevare dicendo espressamente come un grazie a volte più bello di un ti amo se viene dalla persona amata.. anche se non si puo possedere ..

Infatti nana pianse di gioia , non capendo perche un semplice grazie l’abbia resa cosi felice…

Il fatto che nana e yasu fossero innamorati non si può mettere in discussione, solo che (presumo) che l'amore in certi casi non basti per fare stare insieme due persone, e penso che fosse questo il messaggio che l'autrice volesse far passare. Come hai detto tu, il matrimonio tra ren e nana è stato solo per via di alcune circostanze, in oltre, è anche possibile che nana amasse entrambi, e forse è una breve sfaccettatura del poliamore che, a mio parere, fa parte di un po' tutti noi. Basta pensare ai "diversi tipi di amore" che proviamo per persone diverse, anche se non sono nostri partner, e se vogliamo nuovamente riferirci a questo manga, si potrebbe parlare per ore dell'amore che c'è tra nana ed hachi (un qualcosa di totalmente platonico, ma pur sempre amore) ed è a questo che si riferiva il mio post.
