Pairing(s): Rocket x Fem!reader, Baby!Groot x Fem!reader, Rocket x Groot
Summary: Even with your Ship practically on the verge of tearing apart you couldn’t stay mad at the little sprout who caused such chaos especially when he offers the most sentimental piece anyone could offer —flufftober day; 20—
Word count: 1.1k+
Warning(s): Fluff, the cutest family ever, and language
A/n:—GIFs aren’t— I was watching the ‘I am groot’ series and he’s so freaking cute!? Also I saw this video on top of it and my heart was set on this. Also dad Rocket?! *chef kiss
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A loud bang along with crashes erupted along the ship while bolts and screws fell from the ceiling along with a thin layer of dust and debris fell to the floor that had your eyes shooting open while they followed to your floating shelf that acted as a nightstand reading your clock
3:27am
You didn’t even think to use the ladder the sat connected to the front of your bed before hopping of the side of the frame using the rail that kept you from falling off the mattress before letting go your feet hitting the floor with barely any sound
You didn’t even think to use the ladder the sat connected to the front of your bed before hopping of the side of the frame using the rail that kept you from falling off the mattress before letting go your feet hitting the floor with barely any sound
Rocket stirred awake a bolt that had landed next to his temple interrupting his peaceful sleep while drool feel down the corners of his snout, his hair smushed and tangled together
“What the hell is going on” He groaned his voice gruff scratching his cheek looking around the dimly lit room that never went dark just in case Groot had needed to make his way into the comfort into either of yours arms or wanted to go lay in his second bed in the corner that was filled with leaves and vibrant vines that slid up the wall and continued up the wall
Neither were ever rare.
“I don’t know but I can assure it’s something we don’t want to deal with at 3:00 In the morning” You sighed walking to the door that was already cracked open before opening it fully looking down the hallway before you gasped
“It came from Groot’s room!” You we’re already halfway down the hallway before Rocket could even respond as he began to run after you into the baby trees room alarms blaring as he followed
The door was off its hinges laying in the middle of the hallway a hole blown through it’s middle while smoke slipped from the room out into the hall that had you lightly coughing as you continued to walk through it you’d seen worse
“Groot! Groot are you okay!? Are you hurt, Are you alive something!?” Rocket called out his tone laced with so much worry you knew he was having heart palpitations hell you were having heart palpitations
Rocket wouldn’t admit it out loud but you both were his everything. He’d die for you, kill for you, steal for you, anything because you were all that mattered in the end.
“Oh there you are” You could hear the relief in Rockets door as you both entered the room fully a large hole in the floor while Groot kneeled above it attempting to duck tape it shut
“Did you remove the fuel rods!? How did you get the walls wet and on fire” Rocket had yelled frantically his eyes scattering around the room as he rubbed his temples his fur beginning to stick up in different directions before you shushed him softly squatting to his level holding out you arms which he climbed on taking his position to stand on your shoulders
“Groot why does it look like a bomb went off in here?” You questioned standing back to your full height sweatpants resting against your waist and a sports bra secure around your torso
“I am Groot” The tree simply responded a almost proud look plastered on his face still crouching down on his potion on the floor
“A bomb did go off?” Rocket repeated out loud from the position on your shoulders before sliding down your body his nails gripping the fabric to assures he didn’t fall but not enough to rip the fabric
“What were you thinking!?”
Groot began to frown now standing up on both of his feet looking towards the floor while Rocket could feel your burning gaze in the back of his head having told him plenty times that you needed to encourage soft parenting and reasonable discipline
“Don’t give me that look, don’t think you’re getting out of this by being cute” You noticed Rocket had fixed his approached and you couldn’t help but let a small smile slip on your face
“What is this, more trash? It better be a written apology” Rocket muttered to himself in the Result of Groot handing him a piece of paper while he squinted at first before pulling out his reading glasses placing them on the beginning of his snout
The picture was of Groot holding the both of you tightly in his arms while you embraced him back all with bright smiles on your face rockets tails make of small twigs, while leaves had been used for your hair, all of you having googly eyes
“Look how big you are” Rocket muttered a smile on his face that no matter how hard he tried he wouldn’t be able to hide
“Groots it’s adorable you did so well” You added bringing a hand to your chest in disbelief finally meeting his big doe eyes while he moved closer to you both at your feet
“This is very nice, we should get it framed. Put it up on the fridge” Rocket agreed a wide grin never leaving his face before Groot ran to you both extending his arms as the picture showed as you hugged both boys in return you could feel Rocket stiffen before relaxing and briefly mirroring your actions
“I can’t stay mad at you can I?” Rocket chuckled one hand on the tiny surface of groots shoulder and his other arm wrapped around your lower back
Groot giggled childishly before rushing out of the hug and door continuing down the hallway to your room while Rocket for once stayed still taking a moment to breathe by your side
“He gets that from you y’know?” You gestured to around the room and then the door a small smirk on your face
“Yea and he gets all the mushy shit from you” He added nudging your shoulder before finally standing to his full height you following in suite
“Better than taking after anyone else then yea?” It was more of a statement than a question as you both made your way back to your shared room to see the little tree lied on your pillow sleeping broken off branches he’d used to climb blocking Rockets way to get to his own bed
“It’s about to get even more mushy honey” You teased before climbing up to your bed while the Groot subconsciously scooted closer towards you while Rocket followed grumpily In suite muttering about how he didn’t have time for this and would deal with it in the morning
Groot lied in between the both of you smiling as you cradled him close parenting was bittersweet but moments like these made it so worth it.

Okay, after rewatching Phineas and Ferb Across the Second Dimension, which came out in 2011, I need to know if the first Avengers movie- which came out in 2012- copied it, or if it was just a weird coincidence that both movies have an interdimensional portal with a seemingly endless evil army coming out of it set on the top of a weird looking building in the middle of a city that they have to fly up and close after a showdown with the villain?

Ok one of my favorite thing about the opening scene is how worried Groot for his other dad 😭😭 he hurried to Peter to check on him...

Parenting isn't always perfect. Peter’s only reference to being a dad is a baby killing egomaniac and an abusive but decent enough space pirate.
Most of the time, he's takes after his mother, empathetic, loves singing and dancing, and has a great sense of humor.
But on some days, with nerves fraying, Peter can't deal with Teenage Groot's attitude. "Git to yer room, boy!" He snaps, hands twitching at his side to hit something.
For a second, very momentary, he imagines slapping Groot. But as quick as that thought comes, it burns away with the guilt and shame.
Unaware of any of this, Groot mutters something darkly before stomping his way to his room.
Peter falls into the captain seat, running a hand down his face. As much as he cares for Yondu, he'll admit the way he raised Peter leaves much to be desired. He doesn't want that for Groot. Peter still wants to be a cool dad, but without all the terror and hatred that young Peter went through.
He stares at his hands and wonders if he's even a good dad.
Thankful, he's not fucking up alone.
Rocket yells when he's frustrated, Drax sometimes forgets that Groot is not a fucking tank (and he shouldn't indulge the kid by letting him dangle outside the ship, mid-battle). Nebula never sugarcoat things and Mantis knocks Groot out to avoid dealing with his temper tantrums. Gamora raised her voice at Groot once and then never again.
But years later, Peter will look at Groot, taking in how he treats the refugees, how he cares and worries, how wide his smile is when he gets his new game boy. Just joyous, infectious love in his eyes.
And Peter thinks, huh, they didn't do so bad, after all.

I have came up with a new ship after watching Guardians of the Galaxy Vol.3 - Groot and Adam Warlock aka Waroot or Groolock. I know how stupid it sounds. A romance between a talking tree and a god with the mind of a child. But Groot did save Adam and gave him a second chance, so he at least believes there is good in him and that he was misguided. I could see an enemies to friends to lovers dynamic work well between these two. I've been thinking about it for days and they just seem perfect in my eyes. Thoughts?

@tangleweave  {{xx}} Beth doesn't know how  long she and Groot have been all but killing themselves stabilizing the natural world, letting the Avengers and other heroes try to salvage humanity. She has so many mixed feelings about the massacre, none of which she dared share aloud. At first the grief and shock had robbed her of any sort of coherence, and she had been listless for days upon days afterward. When the full weight of what had happened finally fell she believes it nearly crushed all of them. Everyone had lost. She knows she did, the sole survivor of her remaining ohana, her friends and coworkers, her cabal. Groot had also lost everything, too. That was likely why she had clung to him, able to displace her own horrors in favour of his. In the coming weeks there was nothing to do but roll up one's metaphorical or sleeves and do what one could, even if it was only too little too late. And it was going to have to be one world at a time. They had complimentary gifts, and as his self-appointed guardian and guide, she’s spent so much time with Groot. Slowly her ability to clearly and fully understand his speech became evident and they spent much of their time conversing. Sharing the parts of their lives that they were able to, the pieces that they retained the hardest. And sometimes, when the words ran themselves dry, there was only consolation in shared sorrow and attempts to think about anything but their catastrophic losses. She was surprised by his affection toward handheld game devices, even on that was fairly archaic by today's standards, and while she'd never really had a knack for them ~her brother used to involve her in role-playing games then make fun of her for playing on what he called 'tourist mode' because she cared more about the story than the action~ she didn't think teaching him how to play chess was going to be significant beyond the hours they while. That is until Steve Rogers, paragon of an Avenger that he was, got a little too full of himself. Maybe it was something about the smile. Maybe it was something cryptically smug about a hand wave, or in his laugh ~as tired as their own~ she doesn't know. Maybe he just reminded her so much of Andy it just naturally antagonised her and brought out her competitive streak. Beth's always been a little contrary like that. She also didn't like that the only person in the gathered group that was cheering Groot on was the strange blue-and-purple robot girl. She knew the others by face and reputation of course. While she had a pathological distaste for Tony Stark, she admired Colonel Rhodes, who had always had kind things to say about her brother, and occasionally remembered to send a Christmas card when he wasn't out there being War Machine. The redhead she'd seen a few times in the company of her building manager, and it was a huge surprise that he'd turned out to be an Avenger, too. She didn't really know much about Romanoff, except that her name nowadays could make the Admiral spitting mad, something to do with the intel-dump from SHIELD all over the internet. And of course, everyone knew Dr Banner, one of the most scientifically brilliant minds on the planet, and also perhaps the angriest and most terrifying being in it too, though... from what she understands, that may not be the case any more. Seeing them all sitting here in the compound only goes to show all that has been lost, everyone who hadn't survived, or had been swept away in an act of sheer insanity that she lacks words to even begin describing. She does her best not to delve too deeply into that lest she burst into tears and ruins the celebration of hope that the New Year is supposed to be about. Instead, she pours herself with their same intensity in watching and at times advising Groot through the contest, which she likes to believe is more about stamina and wits than knowledge or skill. That and maybe because something about Groot's sweetness, his willingness to give far more than he really ever needed to for people that likely mean nothing in the grand course of his life, touches Beth in places she didn't think she even still had. She'd been sure that all her love had been stripped from her, every ounce of compassion strangled out of her along with the death that rolled through the universes with such bitter malice. If anything, Groot is the seed of her hope, and she means to nurture that as best she can. In this case, with encouragement, with her own years of experience, and with a little bit of comeuppance for Cap. "You are Groot," Beth nods, smiling affectionately at her Ent. Steve's king has no where to retreat, he's lost his ability to castle with his rook, and if he tries to go for Groot's queen, he's still three moves out. A moment later, she gasps over Groot's shoulder at the uncharacteristic word that comes out of the all American soldier's mouth, and one of her hands strays toward her breastbone in genuine surprise, which only makes Romanoff laugh. "I...uh. I am...uh...Groot." <<I...I don't think he meant that the way it sounds, I don't think he has even met your mother.>>

New Guy Around [ Adam Warlock x Reader ]
Tumblr media
!!!!!! GOTG VOLUME 3 SPOILERS!!!!!
-
Summary: While helping rebuild Nowhere, you get to know the man who tried to kill your friends.
A/N: I’ve loved Will Poulter since I was 13 so of course I would fall in love with Adam Warlock <3 also my apologies for this kind of being small, my future imagines of him will definitely be longer! Enjoy for now though loves!!
MASTERLIST LINK
-
It was a normal day for you when you began to talk to Adam; wake up to little raccoons climbing all over you, eating breakfast with Rocket and Groot, and helping Drax with the kids.
It usually consisted of Drax translating what they’re saying while you tried to get them settled into new homes with people willing to take them in.
And as usual, Adam would stroll around like a lost puppy trying to figure out what to do for the day. While he made himself useful by going person to person, today he looked more confused than ever.
You still weren’t on the best terms with him, despite the rest of the guardians giving him a second chance. It didn’t help that they told you what he was trying to do before they rescued him.
With a deep sigh, you let Drax deal with the children for the day and walked over to Adam.
“Do you need something to do?” You asked him and he seemed a bit startled that you were actually talking to him.
“Uh, yes?” Adam said and immediately began to follow behind you as you made your way to your small apartment. It had been destroyed pretty badly in the fight, and you could use all the help you could get into repairing it back to normal.
While your place was livable, it still needed something to make it more of a home.
You let Adam in and instructed him on fixing one of the walls with many holes in it. He got right to work and was pretty silent the whole time. Meanwhile, you straightened up your work desk littered with plants, pots, soil, and little figurines you built for the children.
“Can I ask you a question?” Adam said, taking you out from your little flow of organizing.
You hummed a yes and waited for whatever question he was going to say. You honestly weren’t in the mood for a conversation, though.
“For all those plants on your desk, you sure don’t decorate this place enough.”
You turned sharply to him, wondering why it was relevant to ask such a thing. “Maybe if the people you had been working for hadn’t ruined my place, I would be able to put things up by now. But no, I have to fix it first.”
“All I’m saying is a flower on your table would suffice.” Adam shrugged and began to work again.
You rolled your eyes and continued to replant some of the white flowers you knew Groot loved. “If you must know I gift these flowers to people I care about.”
Adam stood up from the ground and walked over to your desk. “Will I get one of them?” He was teasing you with a smile and a question you knew was a joke.
“Maybe one day if you don’t mess it up for yourself,” you said and glanced up at him. He was significantly taller than you, and it wasn’t until now that you noticed how close he was. “And maybe, just maybe if I forgive you for trying to kill my friends.”
Adam nodded and promptly began to work again. “I will win you over.”
-
Then it became normal for Adam to arrive every morning at your door to help repair the rest of your apartment.
While he worked, you would either tend to your plants or build figurines for the children. It kept both of you busy and eventually a comfortable silence would fall between the two of you. Well, besides Rocket blasting music over the speakers.
Adam would often go to your desk, do a little nod of approval at what you were creating, then go back to working. You would tend to sneak looks at him, thinking he didn’t notice but he always did.
You hated to admit that you found the golden man attractive, and fought against the thoughts that plagued your mind about him. You didn’t want to get close to him… yet.
Adam was very helpful and extremely nice to you, and you could tell he was trying to make up for his past transgressions. You felt bad for being an ass to him, and one day you tried to make up for it. You made him a figurine of his pet that always seemed to find its way to him.
You had left it at his apartment one night and thought nothing of it, expecting nothing in return.
It was the weekend now, and Adam tended to only help on weekdays, so you didn’t expect to wake up to him at your door. He was holding something behind his back, but you didn’t ask any questions.
“Oh, um, good morning?” You said sleepily, still in pajamas.
“I wanted to stop by to say thank you for my gift.” Adam smiled and you noticed he had placed it in the pocket of his shirt.
“Of course, it was my way of saying thank you for all the help.” You did a small smile in return.
Adam shifted on his feet and pulled out a small daisy from behind his back. “I, uh, picked this for you. I know it’s not much but you always gift flowers to people so I thought you deserved one yourself.”
You grinned happily and accepted the flower with a thank you. The tiny flower meant the world to you and Adam seemed ecstatic to give it to you.
“That’s the first ever gift I’ve given someone.” Adam looked so innocent and sad when he said that, almost as if his history did haunt him.
“It’s lovely.” You gave him a hug which took him by surprise but he gladly wrapped his arms around you.
“I was wondering if you’d like to…” Adam’s words trailed off in confusion, not finding the word he needed.
“Go on a date?” You helped him out, knowing exactly what he meant.
“Yes, that,” he said with his dorky smile and awaited your answer.
“I would love that.” You smiled brightly at him, delighted that Adam ended up being a sweet person beneath all the gold.

Them: GOTG3 is tragic and nuanced because Peter finally had the growth to accept that he had to fall out of love with a woman who was dead, and Gamora 2.0 found her own perfect family all by herself. Drax was seen as a valued member of the team and we finally understand Groot because we’ve spent enough time with him that we hear what he’s actually saying and—

I don't like the Found Family trope.
There, did I get your attention? It's true, but the question is, why is Guardians of the Galaxy still one of my favorite stories in any medium ever?
Something really clicked for me with the ending of Vol. 3 (spoilers ahead, natch). The team broke up and that kind of development is usually heartbreaking, because we love the team, they love each other, now that they've found each other why should they ever part ways?
The answer is that they're a family, and that's what families do. Growing up means leaving the parents who raised you and finding a path of your own, maybe to someday continue the cycle with kids of your own, but never losing what you got from your first family. Those people, who you can't choose, will always be a part of you.
Each of the Guardians, aside from Drax, had their childhoods interrupted by traumatic events. They didn't get to finish growing up naturally, and that loss hounded them all their lives. When they found each other they began to heal, but here's what I didn't realize until the end of the trilogy: the family that they found with each other wasn't the kind that you make when you grow up. It's the kind that you grow out of.
From the beginning, Peter has shown signs of "Peter Pan Syndrome," acting like a little boy even though he's highly skilled, courageous, and compassionate. His maturity gradually began to show through, but one quirk that kept coming up was his refusal to return to Earth. No good reason for it except that he couldn't bear the reminder of his mother and he was ashamed to face his grandfather. He can handle it now because his life with the Guardians gave him the stability he needed to become a true adult.
Gamora's new incarnation doesn't need the Guardians because she found the Ravagers instead. We don't know much about them but I expect that what they did for Yondu, they'll do for her too. In the meantime, Nebula's had a few good years of being loved and now she can follow the footsteps of the Gamora who was lost, aside from falling for Peter, because that's unlikely to ever work again.
Groot's been the most fortunate, not having his youth cut short or taking any serious trauma since he sprouted. Eventually he may want to strike out on his own, but until then it's good that he can stick with Rocket.
Mantis seemed more aware than anyone of their internal struggles, including her own. Which is appropriate, her being an empath and all. She really made the boldest possible move, going it alone, and I'm proud of her. Hoping she'll make an appearance in The Marvels or something else before reuniting with Peter and/or the Guardians.
Drax is a special case and the one who I thought was most likely to die, since it seemed like his arc was all wrapped up: he had his childhood before we met him and it was his adulthood that was ripped away from him. Revenge was his entire deal and Ronan and Thanos are dead now, so what's left for Drax? Well, it turns out revenge doesn't have to be his entire deal and now I'm embarrassed I ever thought otherwise.
Rocket...oh, Rocket. We always knew that he was something other than what nature had intended, and that was on top of the nonstop physical and emotional abuse, but now it turns out he already lost the only three people who put anything good into his sad little life. Since there was nothing to salvage from his upbringing, he was the one who needed the Guardians the most, so he's the only founding member to stay. But no mistake, it matters that he's staying as the leader. He's not alone, but he's not under anyone's control, either. He knows who is now and he knows his worth.
The "don't call me a raccoon" running joke always bothered me a little but I never dreamed it would have a payoff like it did in Vol. 3. Rocket claiming his full name is much more than a nod to his comic origins. It's his understanding of where he began and the injustice that was done to him, his acceptance that he wasn't at fault for the deaths of his first companions and that he does deserve to be loved by the Guardians.
That's the foundation that lets everyone part ways without having to ask each other if this means their relationships are over. As far as I've seen, no other found family in fiction has reached this point - the team is generally the endgame, and if someone leaves, things will never be the same again.
In a real family, a good one, when someone leaves we celebrate. Congratulations on your first apartment. Good luck at college. Blessings on your union. Just remember, you can always come home again. Our arms are open for you.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 initial thoughts
[ NOT spoiler-free ]
For me, this is one of the few franchises that got better and better as it went along. This third movie was just absolutely phenomenal. As someone had said, it is a great send-off to the movie and the Guardians we've known.
They did a great job exploring Rocket's origin. It really explains why he's never wanted to talk about his past. It was violent and heartbreaking. Nebula's line of "They did worse things to him than Thanos did to me" (or something along that line) summarized it best. You also understand why Rocket can be so violent: it wasn't much because he learned it from the people who engineered him, but because the last time he tried to get away safely, quietly, his friends - essentially his family - all got killed. And the person who caused it was so cold about it. So while he could be extreme, he does it so that no one can hurt him or any of his friends ever again.
Which leads to this other point: Rocket is a grump and a cynic, but deep down he actually really loved the other Guardians.
Adam Warlock! I didn't know what to expect from him, but after seeing the movie, I want to see more of him.
Also: it's great that the movie managed to give Adam his own origin story, his own motivation for why he eventually ended up being a guardian.
Drax was hilarious in this movie, as he always is, but Mantis kinda came for the crown a bit! The fact that she made him fall in love with a sock for fun and made one of the guards they had to get through fall in love with him were some of the funniest moments in the movie.
On a more serious Drax note: "Drax. You weren't meant to be a destroyer. You were meant to be a dad." One of the best lines in the movie. I never would have thought that this is how Drax would "grow up" as a character, but it all made sense. It does.
Kraglin had a fantastic growth too. He'd been trying to train with the arrow Yondu gave him over and over and over, trying to concentrate and plan and think. And he kept failing over and over and over. But when Knowhere was in danger, he finally remembered what Yondu told him: "Fly it with your heart." When he realized that he needed to get out of his head, man did he do some damage. It was amazing.
The bad dog/good dog argument 😂
Gamora. I like how they approached that. They didn't make her fall in love with Peter, even after all the fighting that they did as a team. They were barely even good friends in the end. Also, it's nice that she has a different family to belong to now (the Ravagers) but who still loved her just the same. It's good that they didn't try to change her. They made her realistic.
Lol "You guys are just making up what he's saying" when Groot would talk
Nebula. Oh, man, where do I begin. I've started really liking her as a character since GotG 2, and even more so during Endgame, but wow. She's really grown. She looks after the people of Knowhere, the Guardians look to her for big decisions and even resolution for internal problems of the team. The team respects her, even more than Peter most times. She still has rage inside, and she has trouble expressing other feelings without it, but I think she's made tremendous progress. And it's so obvious that she cares deeply about the team and even the lives of others, even if she doesn't outright say it.
Okay. There's a lot to unearth with the not-so-subtle hints at Peter/Nebula. First off, it's obvious in this movie and even in the Christmas special that Nebula's been looking after Peter. But the fact that she would take him home whenever he was totally wasted and put him to bed, making sure he was comfortable? And when Gamora was going to hurt Peter out of frustration and Nebula jumped in to stop her, practically telling her to back off? And that when Gamora suggested that the woman Peter's describing, the one that he's fallen in love with because she's grown from being ruthless to being caring, is Nebula, and Peter started looking at her differently? Bruh. I don't know what they're playing at here, but alright. I'm onboard.
Speaking of Peter, I like that he decided to come back home to Earth to reach out to his grandfather. I'd like to think he got a little help from the Avengers to get to that doorstep (info, means of transpo, things like that). It was great to see him in a normal life setting in the post-credit, too, where he's just eating cereal, talking smack about someone behind their back lol
Okay, that's it for now. Will come back when I remember the other things I liked (spoiler alert: there's a TON)
