#Gravity Falls: Lost Legends

5 Years…IT'S BEEN 5 YEARS!! On July 24th, 2018, Gravity Falls Lost Legends was released alongside the Complete Series box set. In one day, we got 4 new stories for the show and the chance to own the whole show in physical form, with hours of new behind the scenes material and commentaries to enjoy. It was arguably the single best day to be a Gravity Falls fan since Cipher Hunt and Journal 3 came out.

I still remember that time so well. I was still in high school then and the joy of knowing these two pieces of GF content were coming kept me motivated during some of the hardest times I faced that year. The summer of 2018 was insane, both for GF and me personally. It's a time I so wish I could relive. I have many fond memories (bitter too but fond always triumph over the bad).

I miss the passion and joy in the GF fandom then. It still is not dead or downhill in any way IMO, but the hype that was there in 2018 just isn't anymore. Which is fair as so many fans have moved on to other shows and passions. Being a GF fan in 2023 is very different to how it was in 2018, and in turn, how it was in 2016 and when the show was airing.

I'll never forget it though. I wasn't here to see GF air, but I was there to see these two twin merchandises come out together and let us return to Gravity Falls, even if just for a moment. We may never get that same chance again.

I had plans to make a retrospective video on both of them but was busy with some bigger things to do so. But I think what I have coming up will substitute and I do wanna make those videos one day as my opinions on both have changed a lot from when I excitedly opened them up and ran through all they had to offer, 5 years ago.

The summer of 2018 was now half a decade ago…but the memories made during it through Lost Legends and the box set, will stay with me till the end.

To 5 years of them both!

Also funny story, the night of the release, I recoreded the countdown on the wiki page hitting 0 and the day after I had a summer school exam to take so I should have been studying but made this video instead. I passed the exam though so, no worries!

Mabel Pines With The Pig Miraculous

Ok. Here I’ll be going over my thoughts on why Mabel Pines from the Gravity Falls TV series would make a fitting candidate to wield of the Pig Miraculous and what would happen if she were to get her hands on it. Also, Spoiler Alert for the Gravity Falls TV series, the Miraculous Tales Of Ladybug And Chat Noir TV series and the Gravity Falls: Lost Legends comic. With that out of the way, let’s dive right in.

First off, I’m gonna go over why Mabel would make a fitting candidate to wield the Pig Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘The Last Mabelcorn’, Mabel prides herself on being a good person. And as shown in the episode ‘Guiltrip’, the Pig Miraculous’s power is the ability to create a gift that will make the person the power is used on feel happy. And giving people gifts to help them feel happy is one of the things being a good person is about. However, Mabel has proven to be very self-centered sometimes as especially shown in the episode ‘Weirdmageddon Part 2’ where Mabel was adamant about staying in her fantasy world called Mabeland until her brother Dipper assured her that he would always be there for her even in the real world where things won’t always happen just because you want them to. But I believe that Mabel was finally able to overcome that side of herself in the comic Gravity Falls: Lost Legends story ‘Don’t Dimension It!’ where Mabel was lost between dimensions. In ‘Don’t Dimension It!’, Mabel also encountered dozens of different versions of herself from across the multiverse who were too easily distracted to find a way home much to the main Mabel’s (that’s what I’m gonna call her on this part for convenience’s sake to help tell her apart from the rest of the Mabels in the story) dismay. The other Mabels were too caught up in their own silly habits and thus were being too self-centered. It was proving to be too much even for the main Mabel. I’m gonna be using the 5 Stages Of Grief to help explain Mabel’s character development in ‘Don’t Dimension It!’. I know Mabel’s character development throughout ‘Don’t Dimension It!’ wasn’t quite about her grief but I think the 5 different stages on the 5 Stages Of Grief still technically fit. [Note: I’ve learned from searching through other sources on psychology that the 5 Stages Of Grief don’t work the same way for everyone. So, if you’re planning to use what I have to say here regarding the 5 Stages Of Grief for something else, I recommend taking it with a grain of salt.] Before her encounter with those different Mabels, the main Mabel was in the denial stage since she didn’t think she was being self-centered as shown when she brushed off Dipper when he was trying to tell her that she might be being self-centered at the beginning of ‘Don’t Dimension It!’. However, during her encounter with those different Mabels, the main Mabel was at least slightly in the anger stage since, during that same encounter, she was feeling the same annoyance that those around her felt whenever she herself was being self-centered. While the main Mabel was trying to find a way home with the help of who seemed like the only no-nonsense Mabel out of the bunch, the main Mabel was in the bargaining stage since she was focusing on the situation at hand while also looking past her own silliness. The main Mabel transitioned to the depression stage just after she got downright furious at the other Mabels and called them “self-centered”. It was just after she called them “self-centered” when the main Mabel realized that she behaved the same way. It became clear that the main Mabel reached the acceptance stage when she apologized to Dipper for being selfish that summer and also told him that it took her dealing with “herself” to realize what he put up with. So, this all means that the main Mabel would make a pretty fitting candidate to wield the Pig Miraculous. Plus, there’s also the fact that the main Mabel also has a pet pig named Waddles that she first met in the episode ‘The Time Traveler’s Pig’.

Next, I’m gonna go over what Mabel’s Pig Miraculous outfit would look like. I think Mabel’s Pig Miraculous outfit will have a sweater. As shown throughout the entire Gravity Falls TV series, Mabel is a pretty much a sweater enthusiast. After all, in pretty much every episode of Gravity Falls, Mabel wears a sweater despite the fact that the entire Gravity Falls TV series takes place during the summer. Plus, there’s also the fact that Mabel has a lot of variety when it comes to her sweaters since in each episode, she wears a different looking sweater. For example, in the episode ‘Into The Bunker’, Mabel wore a sweater that had an image of a light bulb on it that could also light up but in the following episode ‘The Golf War’, Mabel wore a sweater that had an image of a golf field on it. Considering that Mabel’s golf field sweater was uniquely appropriate for when she played golf in ‘The Golf War’ and that Mabel’s unicorn sweater in the episode ‘The Last Mabelcorn’ was uniquely appropriate for when she encountered unicorns in that same episode also imply that Mabel tends to wear a sweater that suits a given situation, I think this also means that the sweater of Mabel’s Pig Miraculous outfit will have an image of a pig on it along with images of stars and crescent moons that are shown on stereotypical wizard outfits. Mabel’s Pig Miraculous will have an image of a pig on it because of the Pig Miraculous’s pig motif and will have stars and crescent moons that are shown on stereotypical wizard outfits because of the fact that the Pig Miraculous is literally magical.

Now, I’m gonna go over how Mabel would interact with Daizzi, the Kwami connected to the Pig Miraculous. As shown in the episode ‘Carpet Diem’, Mabel is very playful with her friends. So, I think she’ll be playful with Daizzi too. After all, considering Mabel’s enthusiasm, she may consider Daizzi to be her friend once they get to know each other. Also, since Daizzi likes cuteness as shown in the episode ‘Truth’ where Daizzi called Alya cute and wanted her to be Daizzi’s owner because of that before Trixx shot Daizzi down by saying that she was already taken. So, Daizzi might like the idea of Mabel being Daizzi’s owner for the same reason.

Finally, I’m gonna go over how Mabel would use the Pig Miraculous’s power to create a gift that will make a person feel happy. Mabel is fully willing to be kind even to those who bullied her as shown in the episode ‘The Golf War’ where she was willing to save Pacifica Northwest, a girl who bullied her, from the Lilliputtians and also share tacos with her. And as shown in the episode ‘The Last Mabelcorn’, Mabel was willing to do all sorts of good deeds in order to prove that she is pure of heart. So, I believe that Mabel will use the Pig Miraculous’s gift power to help everyone in Gravity Falls, Oregon feel happy.
