Eluvia Lavellan I sketched her in the morning and then copied it to digital and now I have done this instead of sleeping, but it felt good She is the daughter of my Lavellan and Solas. She is smug sometimes, has few friends as she is very sensitive to the Fade, practically a fade mage at a very young age. (Yeah I know probably plotwise there would not be much time for her to grow that old, bu I don't care, it's fantasy, besides, da4 does not exist yet.) Her best friend is Cole.

His eyes are fixed heavenward as he walks, murmuring to himself under his breath as he goes. An outstretched hand moves upon some unseen abacus, parting into patterns. His gaze is so drawn to distant celestial bodies that he doesn’t notice the one drawing near. He startles as Blackwall captures counting fingers, and laces them with his own, swinging arms between them. “I didn’t expect to catch you up so late, Inquisitor,” he says as he slows to match his pace. Lavellan smiles as if a cat caught in mischief, curling himself against Blackwall, his other hand wrapping over theirs, head resting on his shoulder.

“Solas has been teaching me to traverse the Fade in my dreams,” Lavellan says, a fingertip moving over the back of each one of Blackwall’s knuckles, “but sometimes it gets difficult to tell what’s real and what isn’t. If you look close enough, you can see how the Fade lies, certain details it doesn’t get quite right. I check the constellations to make sure I’m awake. What are you doing up?”

“Not a night for sleeping,” he says. Blackwall takes another step, Lavellan doesn’t. Still hand in hand, Lavellan pulls him back to him.

“Thom,” he says, “you’d tell me if something was wrong, right?” Blackwall forgets, sometimes, that he’s forgiven. It doesn’t erase the guilt, but it does ease it slightly. They stand alone in the middle of Skyhold’s courtyard. Against the backdrop of the night sky, Lavellan cuts a brighter figure. Brilliant swaths of red and gold, deeper purple. Muddy red hair falls against olive skin, and perhaps if they had the time to count, they might find his freckles outnumber the stars. Blackwall wants to find that time. He gives his hand a reassuring squeeze.

“I would. Tell me about your constellations,” he says. Lavellan is trying to give him a harder, searching glance, but that fails at the excitement bubbling through. Side by side, heads close together and Lavellan raises his free hand upwards, paints stories between dotted lines. He whispers quietly, enthusiastically knowledgeable. Magic makes no sense to Blackwall. It does to Dorian and Solas, and the racket the three of them together – and where that once might have made him feel inadequate, insecure, he now knows Lavellan speaks to him of things he can with no one else. He quietly lords over this privilege. This privilege of him which no one else knows.

He could listen to him speak for hours. He’s explaining Eluvia and Solium, and Blackwall is watching the shape of his mouth, devouring every detail Lavellan gives him. “Equinor has sometimes been seen as a seated griffon,” Lavellan says, long delicate fingers showing Blackwall the outline, “but others sometimes see it as a halla.”

“For Ghilan’nain, the Mother of Halla?” Blackwall asks. Lavellan’s fingers twitch, suddenly surprised. Oh that book was well worth the gold pieces for the look on his face. Eyes wide, eyebrows raised, and Lavellan’s hands are cupping Blackwall’s face, pulling him into the rough and persistent kiss.

FAMILY HISTORY & BACKSTORY

Vhelani’s mother Misera (a name she chose for herself when she joined the Dalish) escaped from the Edgehill Alienage as an orphan when she was 8 and began to show magical talent. Confused, and afraid to be sent to the circle, she was taken in by the Dalish and fostered until she was forced to leave for another clan because of her abilities. As a particularly skilled arcane warrior she joined what would be Zathrian’s clan as a warrior and met her husband, Athras. They had 4 children but only 2 survived- their twin girls.

Vhelani and her twin sister Asvhalla were both sent to the Lavellan clan at the age of 14, (They refused to be separated but as a mage Vhelani was the only one who had to go.) Vhelani was a potential First to the keeper and her sister  had a gift with the Halla.

Vhelani married Ithelanas at age 19 and became pregnant shortly afterwards. Ithelanas died protecting the clan from bandits shortly before their son, who Vhelani named Ellas, (meaning our hopes), was born. Ellas did not live past his second birthday due to an undetected heart defect. She buried him next to her husband and entwined the branches of their trees to grow into knots that would bond them in death. 

Vhelani began to study and learn every known form of healing magic and secretly practiced blood magic. In the early years after losing her family she was often tempted by demons but she was always careful to keep her feelings grounded through her connection to her sister. She was determined to heal as many as she could and believed it to be her true calling, her sister often chided her for exhausting herself and giving too much but asking nothing. 

She became the midwife to the clan and even went to the Alienage in Wycome to see to mothers and children that needed her skills. Occasionally she would be called on to discreetly assist with a human birth and was paid to keep quiet about it. It was the only thing that helped her grieving to pass and made her feel like fully living again.

Shortly after their 26th birthday Vhelani and Asvhalla got word that their parents had died, their father to a plague that took many of his clan and their mother in the battle of Denerim.

The Keeper allowed her to remain as the First, but Vhelani did not take her position as seriously as she should. She was not interested in the cultural history the way she once was and did not care to learn the traditions required to fill the role when the time came. Everyone in the clan was kind to her and knew of her losses, but they saw her as cursed. Vhelani was respected for her strength and skills but she had few friends apart from her sister and she had no desire to make any or to remarry.

Knowing she could no longer be the First and seeing others who were more suited and enthusiastic about the position, Vhelani volunteered to go to the conclave. Keeper Deshanna knew that Vhelani needed to leave her sadness behind with the clan and told her she hoped she would find something in the journey that could inspire her to live again as more than she had been. She told her she loved her as a daughter and wished her to live beyond what she had endured, “Life does not always mean pain, I hope you can be reminded of that.” They had spoken about Vhelani going to another clan before, hoping she would find a spark again, but this was the first time Vhelani had started to feel she could actually do it…

4. What's their favorite position?

Rohan's an ass man, so any position where he can grope Zevran is okay in his book. Giving, it's doggy, because he's a basic bitch. Nicholas loves a good 69- means he gets to put Fenris in his mouth while he gets pleasured. Win-win. Cody's favorite is anything that puts her legs over Cullen's shoulders, because it makes him feral. Eluvia likes laying on her side, with her back to Solas' front.

15. What's the most embarrassing thing that's ever happened to them during sex?

The tent collapsed on Rohan and Zevran once. Alistair saw much more than he ever needed to see. Rohan was embarrassed, but Zevran literally could not have cared less. Nicholas finished way too early his first time with Fenris. Well, the first round. Thankfully, Fenris thought it was hot, which was Nich's saving grace. On Cody and Cullen's wedding night, Cullen forgot to lock the door to their honeymoon suite (I refuse to believe they got married in Orlais) and the dog interrupted them. It was more funny than embarrassing in Cody's opinion but Cullen refuses to let her tell Dorian about it, so I'm saying it counts. It has to have been the one time with a boy from clan Lavellan where she farted really loudly just before he finished. He didn't laugh. They haven't made eye contact since.

28. What's their favorite body part on the opposite sex?

Rohan's an ass man, which translates to women, even though he's never actually met a woman he wanted to sleep with before. Nicholas is attracted to women in theory, but has never been able to practice. That doesn't stop him from Paying Attention to Isabela's thighs though. If Cody had to pick one thing about men, she couldn't. The breadth of a man's shoulders, the dexterity of his hands, a strong jawline, thick thighs, the quirk of Cullen's a mouth. Chef's kiss. Eluvia would choose hands. Specifically Solas'. How they look wrapped around a paint brush or a staff, turning a page, etc.

Who is "wasting" her time sitting dangerously at the Skyhold battlements again? Talking to herself? Eluvia, of course. I made a redraw of an art containing Cole and Eluvia Lavellan. Still lots of room for improvement but... xD They are good friends, as Eluvia is a bit weird considering the standards of average children. She is the daughter of Solas so no surprises there. She is very sensitive about the Fade, thus she is considered weird and has difficulties making friends. She is an aspiring mage, and she finds great companionship with the compassion spirit, Cole. They are both "weird" but not to each other.

Eluvia has a Pride of Arlathan hart, from clan Lavellan named Daravas, which means to be wandering in elvhen. Solas helped name her, which leaves a bad taste in Eluvia’s mouth.

She also has a mabari named Hassalin, named story of victory. He had been the runt of the litter, but survived anyway, all the way to Skyhold. Her best friend Bewalen brought her Hassalin after she saved Clan Lavellan. It just so happened that it was shortly after Solas broke up with her, so the dog was a nice surprise.

Leliana always uses a different raven to contact Eluvia, but the Inquisitor always calls them Cran’tara (clear skies) as an endearment and thank you for delivering her letters.
