“In some old, forgotten place in the ruins of a bell tower, a lonely whispering disturbs the silence: someone is composing a lullaby.”

I haven’t seen anyone use the term activism fatigue seriously but I will say this: maybe the exhaustion you’re feeling isn’t fatigue but rather it’s this refusal to let language fail. It’s this need to always have a new thing to say about Palestine each day. But there is nothing new to say. I listen to al fatiha every day now and I always think I will hold it together but I don’t, I break down and cry and I let language fail. I don’t try to intellectualize it all of the time. There is only work to be done. We have to allow language to fail, that is how we let the grief in. And you have to let the grief in, that is what will propel you in the coming years toward continued action. So don’t always try to have a new rebuttal for these absolutely demonic people that you are arguing online with. Be silent in the face of their cruelty, let them stumble. and continue to do your part toward a future in which Palestine is free.

please explain to me how it’s anywhere near ethical in the international pov that israel opened fire on nasser hospital a few days ago, killing a patient and wounding several. keep in mind that this is the main operating hospital in southern gaza, and bombing it out of service could mean catastrophic things for the endless stream of gazans wounded. and they don’t even stop there. the IOF proceeded to raid the hospital, on grounds that hamas was “hiding remains of hostages in the hospital” (because that sounds completely reasonable and not an excuse fabricated for the sole sake of justifying murdering palestinian patients). how do people hear this and still don’t think Israel is a genocidal entity. how does anyone read a headline like that and not want to throw up from how depraved and horrific it all sounds.

Nothing screams ahistorical more than pinning this ongoing devastation in Gaza on October 7 alone.
What this purposely ignores is the fact that there was no "October 7" in 2008/9, when Israel's aggression in Gaza killed 1,385 Palestinians. There was no "October 7" in 2014 either, when Israel's aggression against Gaza killed 2,251 Palestinians. There was no "October 7" that lead to the Israeli aggressions in Gaza in 2012, 2021 or 2022, nor in the many years before which were filled with Israeli massacres and ethnic cleansing all the way to 1948 and beyond.
This of course attempts to paint Israel's disproportionate violence as retaliation when in fact it is a continuation of its terror and brutality. October 7 is not the context. Colonisation is.
