A/N: Hello all! Thank you so much for the kind words on Birdie. I really appreciate everyone's comments, they warm my heart right up. I almost didn't write this, but the thought of having these two smooch it up was too good to pass up. I also completely headcanon that Bucky has the biggest sweet tooth, oops. As always, I'd be most gracious if you were to leave a like, comment, and/or reblog :)
Read the OC Version of this story on AO3!

A knock at the door brings butterflies to your stomach.
“Oh, he’s here!” Irene shouts, which is immediately met with your shushing, as well as Teresa’s.
You nervously pat your hair and check over your outfit for the evening. You’re spending your second day’s leave on a date with Bucky Egan. He had approached you last night at the pub, asking if you wanted to grab dinner. Alone.
You, of course, said yes.
Teresa and Irene go to answer the door while you gather your purse, stuffing it with your essentials. Your friends greet him at the same time, sounding like twins.
“Good evening, Major!”
“Good evening, Major!”
You hear his deep voice reply, only a small bit of surprise leaking into his voice.
“Good evening, ladies. Is Birdie around? We have dinner plans.”
“I’m here! Hi.” You step around the wall that hides you from the front door, taking a look at the man you’d been crushing on for months. He stands tall and confident in his neatly pressed uniform, hat covering most of his dark curls. His mouth gapes, giving you a once over and attempting to speak up.
“I- You-…Uh, wow. Y-you look…” But any sweet words he attempts to say are interrupted by Irene, who comes in hot with a manic smile.
“Did you know that my daddy taught me how to shoot when I was just a little girl? I’m real good at it. They call me Oakley, back home, cause of how great a marksman I am. Y’know, like Annie Oakley?” She stepped forward, puffing up her chest and giving a frightening grin to Major Egan. You and Teresa exchanged confused looks, not knowing quite where she was going with this.
“I’m not allowed a sidearm or a rifle over here, but I’m sure I could easily borrow one from any of the fellas on base should you break my best friend’s hea—”
“OKAY! We don’t wanna be late, all the tables might be taken soon. Gotta go. Love you. Bye!” You quickly shove past the blonde, stepping over the threshold. You take Bucky’s hand and practically drag his tall form down the hallway, away from your best friend’s attempt at a shovel talk.
You faintly hear Teresa’s well wishes to you amid the aggressively whispered conversation she has with Irene. The last words you hear before the elevator door closes in front of you are a heavily accented protest from Irene.
“What? I was just trying to..!”
The pair of you stand in the elevator in silence. A slight rocking indicates the starting motion of it, which snaps you back to reality. Looking down, you realize that you’re still holding hands with Bucky. You quickly separate your hand from his, heat rising to your cheeks.
“Your friends seem nice.”
Your head snaps to glance at Bucky, who is already looking at you. A sincere smile graces his face, not a hint of mocking in his eyes.
“I’m glad you have them looking out for you.”
You feel your face start to cool down, making you comfortable enough to respond.
“They drive me nuts sometimes. But they’re the best friends I could ever ask for.” You mean every word.
You see John nod, so you turn back to look to the elevator doors in front of you. An awkward pause.
“You look beautiful.”
Another pause. “What?”
“It’s what I meant to say earlier. That you look beautiful. Because you do.”
Heat quickly returns to your cheeks, spreading throughout your whole upper body. You give a bashful smile, peeking up at him through your lashes. You gaze into his eyes for a moment.
“Thank you, Johnny. You look quite handsome yourself.” The Major adjusts his hat, covering just the tips of his ears. He returns your gaze with an uncharacteristically nervous grin. The floor gives a slight rattle, elevator door and gate opening to reveal the lobby.
John straightens up, holding out his arm for you to take. You tentatively weave your hand within the crook of his elbow. He gently presses his arm in, bringing your body closer to his.
You meet your other hand in its position and let Bucky lead you out of the hotel and into the evening air.
“That was so delicious! I never knew that a roast could be so tender…”
The pair of you were walking arm-in-arm down a cobblestone street, just having finished dinner. It was a wonderful time. Bucky had been the perfect gentleman, but made his interest in you clear without being sleezy.
He was entirely focused on you the whole time. He asked questions and was genuinely invested in your answers. Conversation came to the two of you like a duck to water. After a shared glass of wine, his hand had slowly inched towards yours. Soon he had cradled it in his, like you were a precious commodity, until your meals arrived. You could hardly keep your eyes off of each other long enough to even promptly acknowledge the wait staff, which you were sure annoyed some and amused others.
Safe to say, John Egan was doing his best to sweep you off your feet.
You hadn’t discussed any other plans for after dinner, but the walk you’re on now is nice enough to give you reason to stick close together.
Bucky nods along, “And that fruit tart? Incredible.”
You laugh, leaning into your date, “I knew that would be your favorite part. You’ve got a bit of a sweet tooth, don’t you?”
Bucky holds his hands up with a mischievous smirk on his face, “Hey, I plead the fifth.”
“I’ll admit, I’ve never seen someone so adamant on having some coffee with his sugar.” You continue to tease him. He nudges you playfully, giving a smooth grin in return.
“Hey, we’re in a war! If you see something sweet,” Bucky surprises you by picking you up and twirling you around, getting a full belly laugh from you as he sets you back on the ground.
“You gotta snatch it up and enjoy it while you can.”
You have a feeling that he wasn’t just talking about food.
By that point, you’re leaning against his front, hands on both of his shoulders. The moment has shifted into something else. Something different. His eyes roam your face, eventually stopping on your lips. Just as he starts to lean in, the moment is shattered by the sound of instruments starting up nearby. Bucky flinches, cursing the ill-timed disruption.
Oblivious to his turmoil, you gasp in delight and look around for the source of the music.
“Do you hear that? I think there’s a band playing!”
You spot a few people walk into what looks like a club. It barely a stone’s throw from where you’re both currently standing.
Bucky quickly recovers, “Should we grab a drink? Have a dance or two?”
You beam at him, and his heart stutters in his chest once more. After you give a nod, you place your hand in his arm and let him lead you into the club.
The two of you step into the establishment, and the energy is almost electric. There are mills of people walking about, drinking, talking, laughing. There’s a great score more on the dance floor, hopping and jiving along to the band you now knew you’d heard earlier. There weren’t a lot of uniforms present, but the ones that were were RAF.
Bucky guides you to the bar, hand on your back until you're both sat on a pair of stools. Your drinks are quickly ordered and served, so your night continues. You both allow yourselves to talk shop for a moment, so your conversation turns towards what you were working on before your leave. As you get to discussing the more intricate parts of your project, you hear a scoff from behind you.
John quickly looks over your shoulder, spotting the culprit.
“Excuse me, is there a problem here?”
You turn around to find a uniformed man taking a sip of his whiskey, RAF logo plastered on the lapel. He mockingly shakes his head, placing the glass down on the bar.
“No, no problem at all.”
Bucky, ever the confrontationist, persists. “It seems like there’s a problem here.”
You gesture towards the man, silently indicating that he was welcome to speak his mind.
“It’s not enough that you Yanks come over to our country, destroy our pubs and disrespect our women with your recklessness. But you can’t even keep your own women in check! She should be at home, away from the war, for God’s sake. Taking care of the house and the children. You know, doing feminine duties.”
You had heard all of this before, so it was no skin off your back to hear it again. You roll your eyes and decided to just ignore him. Then the man started to laugh, as if he was in on a private joke.
“I mean, a female mechanic? Between that and your daytime missions, it’s no wonder you’re all dropping like flies.”
You let out an exhale, letting the air stream out through your nose. In your periphery, you see Bucky start to stand— to, no doubt, escalate the situation. You stop him with a hand on his chest. He sits back down, looking between you and the man who had just insulted you. You set your glass down, hopping off the stool and giving a slow clap.
“I’m so glad to know that some people still live in the Stone Age, where apparently all a woman is good for is cooking and giving birth! Thank you so much for showing us exactly what a lack of education and individual thought looks like! See where we are—over in modern times— women can do whatever the hell they want. That includes fixing your planes and jeeps, operating your radios, driving your trucks, and even training your allies to use machine artillery!”
The RAF soldier realizes what he’s gotten himself into but is backed into a corner of the bar as you pace forward with each scathing word that leaves your mouth.
“Never mind all the bullshit you just spouted about what a woman is fit to do. I think that women can decide for ourselves exactly what we can and cannot do. As for my countrymen, I’m proud to serve alongside them. They go up every day willing to sacrifice themselves so that the rest of us don’t have to. They’re gonna be remembered for their bravery and grit. They’re not cowardly enough to hem and haw and stick up their noses at the thought of a woman doing something other than popping out a kid and ironing their pleats.”
The music has dulled down, but you don’t have the complete attention of the club. That gives you the courage to say your final piece.
“Never you mind. I'm confident that the men I serve with, including the man I have with me tonight, aren’t anything like you. Thank God for that! They're not so…” You take an exaggerated glance towards the man’s crotch, scrunching up your nose. “…small-minded.”
Leaving the gaping man behind, you turn to Bucky and ask if he wants to go get some air. He picks his jaw up off the floor quick enough to nod and lead you back outside into the street.
Hey, hanging around Irene pays off sometimes.
As you step out into the night air, you close your eyes and take a deep breath. You feel John step up behind you, voice carefully asking,
“Hey, are you okay? Birdie?”
You continue to stand with your eyes closed. You just needed a moment.
“I’ve come too far to let anyone’s opinion of me, or my career choices, effect me.”
You open your eyes and look over your shoulder at your date. He gives an understanding nod, stepping closer to you. He places his hands on your arms, rubbing up and down in a soothing motion. You lean back into him, closing your eyes once more, letting him comfort you for the time being.
“Sorry if I ruined the night.”
You can feel a rumble from Bucky’s chest as he chuckles. “Oh, this night’s far from ruined. In fact, that was probably the best thing I’ve ever seen.”
One of your eyes pops open. You crane your neck to peek at him, “Even better than the time you told me about Curt knocking out an RAF officer in one punch?”
“Yep.”
“Winning that bet to get your bicycle?”
“Oh, for sure.”
“Better than your fruit tart from dinner?”
His smile widens, “Okay, let’s not get crazy here. Maybe it was top ten.”
“Top ten?!” You playfully gasp, turning around to face him again. You rest your hands on your hips, “What’s a girl gotta do to rank above a fruit tart around here?”
“Well…” You scoff and shove Bucky at the cheeky smirk he gives you. You’re quickly distracted by the sound of the band inside starting up again. This time with a familiar tune.
“Oh, your song’s on, Johnny!”
Bucky tosses his hat to the side, steps back and gives a very unserious bow. He then sneers with a hyper-nasal impression of the RAF officer you’d just affronted.
“My lady.”
You roll your eyes and give a joking curtsy in return, taking his offered hand. He pulls you into a proper stance for a waltz, which is a complete offset to the jive song that reaches your ears. You both jokingly hop along in the awkward squared formation for a moment, giggling to yourselves.
He gently pushes on your hip while outstretching his hand, so you take the cue and twirl until you’re both standing at each other’s fingertips. A quick grasp of your hand and a pull twirls you right back into his arms, bumping into his chest. The moment made you burst into laughter, leaning into your dance partner until the song ends.
The next song is a much slower tune, giving Bucky the chance to pull you in close. You hum along to the band playing, sidling up to the Major’s chest. He places a hand in yours and loops the other around your waist. Your free arm gently drapes under his and over his shoulder, encouraging a lean into his firm body. You both give a slow sway, leading each other back and forth in the quiet echoes of the street. Closer than before.
“You know, I’ve been plucking up the courage to ask you to dinner for a while now.”
You lay your head on the knuckles of your hand that rest on his shoulder, responding lowly.
“Really?”
You continue to sway.
“Yeah.”
You’re curious, so you ask, “What made you finally do it?”
He thinks on the answer for a moment, almost chewing on his thoughts. John is not the kind of person to typically contemplate over an answer, so you gift him all the time in the world to respond. You recognize how important that is to him.
“I… I think that it was a lot of little things.” He pulls you in closer. “Your smile, your eyes, the way you talk about the things you love. Birdie, you are so personable with everyone you come into contact with and it’s so magnetic.”
The flow of compliments shocks you, not expecting this barrage of details to come from the man in front of you. But you dance on anyways.
“But I really think what did me in was yesterday, at the pub. When you looked at me during your song.”
You remember. You know exactly what he was talking about. Whatever he must have felt, you know that you felt it too.
He continues to speak in an intimate tone as you sway along in the street.
“I felt my entire life click into place. It was like everything suddenly made sense. I didn’t have to wonder about what my life was going to be like in five, ten, fifteen years. Because I knew.”
He pulls back to look you in the eye, and the amount of vulnerability in his eyes floors you.
“I’ll be honest, it scared the shit outta me. It terrified me.”
You understand what he meant. This is all new to him, as it is to you. You pull his forehead to touch yours, noses gently brushing one another, as you offer your best words of comfort in that moment.
“Sometimes, you have to do what scares you the most to find out what’s worth doing.”
He cups your face, letting his lips ghost against yours. He made his intentions clear, but it was up to you to decide how you move forward.
So, you close your eyes and take the leap.
Your lips press into his, hands stroking the arms that were framing your face. He immediately responds in kind, lips moving in tandem with yours. You melt into him at the reciprocated motion. His arms soon move to your waist, pulling you impossibly close. Your arms reach around his neck, hands resting at the nape of his neck. As he deepens the kiss, you run your hands up, down, and through the dark curls on the back of his head, earning a groan from your partner.
A burst of warmth sparks from within your very being, traveling further and further through your body until you’re consumed by flames. Half of your mind is scrambling to make sense of reality, and the other half is completely consumed by passion.
After a moment, you reluctantly separate from one another, panting to catch your breath. It’s as if the world stopped spinning when you connected, and then started up again when you parted.
Giving a nervous look to the man you just kissed, you’re elated when he gives you an ear-to-ear grin. He grasps one of your hands in his, intertwining your fingers. His other hand comes up to cup your face again, thumb gently stroking your cheekbone.
You stay silent for the time being, letting the moment marinate. He brings up your joined hands to kiss the back of your palm. Your heart jumps with joy at the sight.
Bucky gives an exhale before breaking the silence.
“You are most definitely worth it.”

Gosh, you're fat. You're *so* FAT.
I know you fantasize about it. You dream about being a completely immobile blob of pure hedonistic gluttony, but you forget all too easily that you actually are already *very* fat.
You aren't exactly in denial of it, but you don't tend to truly recognize your real-life achievement when you're busy thinking about being fed by a magical tube until you can't move, or becoming addicted to magical flying cakes.
You're the real deal!
No magic potion did this, no hypnotism necessary, no living slime forced you into what you are. You did this through sheer, unmitigated, piggish overconsumption. You made yourself huge, and you didn't even try.
Let me guess, you're reading this with a sugary drink nearby. Maybe a few empty cans sitting on your desk; calorie bombs that you already guzzled down? Don't worry, I know you needed them to wash down the huge breakfast *and* massive lunch you had today.
No no, you've been responsible, right? Just a little cereal, and a simple sandwich for lunch? A reasonable little ham and cheese?
Maybe you just forgot that you finished the entire box of cereal? I guess you didn't notice that had the majority of a family sized bag of chips with that sandwich as a "side"?
You couldn't stop yourself. With each handful of chips you promised yourself it'd be the last one, but then it wasn't enough. Again and again you stuffed your mouth with those delicious, greasy, salty delights as you searched for the perfect mouthful to end on. Just one more. Just one MORE. Oops, better leave the crumbs. That way you can tell yourself you didn't eat the whole thing. Gosh, You must be *so* full.
Maybe you’re thinking of just a small meal for dinner since you've been gorging yourself silly all day?
Who are we kidding, you're ordering out again aren't you? You did yesterday, and the day before, and you are going to do it again today.
You don't even have the supplies necessary to cook something in your kitchen, do you? Just snacks and drinks to keep yourself stuffed between meals.
You go to the store to pick up "groceries'' and you just end up buying ice cream, frozen pizzas, chips, and soda. You shamelessly place a towering stack of cookies on the checkout belt and pretend not to notice the looks you get. You hope everyone assumes that you're shopping for a family, but you know it's all for you.
You grab a few things here or there that you tell yourself will make for a healthy dinner, but they are just extra calories when you pack your tummy with something fried anyway. No wonder you look more and more like a big, soft ball of dough each day.
Alright, I digress. You're already looking past all the food you already mindlessly shoveled into your fat gut today. Let's get to that delivery order. Of course you're putting in for a large combo. No, wait, a large combo and… a few extra entrees?
Wow, to think I thought you might stop with enough food for just one helpless glutton. You're justifying 3 people’s worth of food to yourself now. Just because you're not ordering 3 large combos doesn't mean you aren't eating three entrees *with* additional sides, you know.
It's okay, just happily plop your fat ass down on the couch and fill your capacious belly with everything you bought. This amount of food doesn't even slow you down anymore, does it? It's actually stunning watching you eat.
As usual, you ate all of that before even one act of your show was up; And, as usual, you're grabbing something more from the fridge to tide you over for the rest of the episode. It's only thirty more minutes, but we both know you really can't go thirty minutes without eating.
Gosh…
It's no wonder none of your clothes really fit. You buy the biggest sizes you can find, and you tell yourself it fits "well enough" because your gut is technically not hanging out of the front of your shirt (yet).
I guess it doesn't matter to you much how tightly it hugs your wobbling chest and generous paunch, huh? I mean, it's drawn so tightly over your body that it's dimpled inward into your cavernous belly button.
You might as well not even wear a shirt with how snugly everything hugs your curves.
You're too fat to even see that, aren't you? You had no idea so much of you was on display even when your clothes "fit". Aww, look at how red you're getting!
Maybe I was wrong earlier when I said you didn't try. You love this. Maybe you wouldn't admit it (yet), but you did all this to yourself *on purpose*.
You love hearing about just how fat you are. You can barely contain your excitement as I describe how blatant it is that you've lost control.
You couldn't stop gorging yourself if you wanted to. You're just too hungry, not to mention you love how soft and heavy you've gotten…
Now that the show's over it's time for some recreational activities. Maybe a walk outside?
No, grab yourself some dessert. You just ate over 2500 calories in fast food and guzzled 32 ounces of soda, but I know it's never enough. Not only is your heaving, plump gut pining for MORE food, you yourself are longing to be bigger.
You managed to squeeze those massive hips of yours into that little office chair. The poor thing looks like it's about to shatter under the weight and pressure of all that fat! Seeing as you're eating sandwich cookies four at a time, and washing them down by chugging milk straight from the carton, I'd guess that's your goal. With every heavy gulp you fantasize about just how amazing it would be if your swelling ass broke the armrests. Then you could get yourself a double-wide chair. I bet it excites you to think about having such a blatant monument to your hedonistic gluttony. Don't worry, you'll get there soon.
Regardless of what you're doing after dinner, the only thing that matters to you is that you're sitting and eating *again*. Honestly I can't believe you can still be hungry after all of that, but the unmistakable roar of that insatiable gut of yours is proof otherwise.
It's OK, it's just a few more hours of continuous eating after you already had a huge dinner. No big deal. It’s super cute, actually. You look so full, and yet you keep going. You’re practically begging for more.
I can't blame you, it feels fantastic to be so blissfully full.
Just think of how fat you could *really* get if you gave in completely to your desire. I would love to help you. There's no need to spend a moment hungry, I'll take care of everything. Give in, and let me make you huge.
Yes? Absolutely.
Finish off that sleeve of cookies for me, ok? Good, now open another. Throw away the wrapping, you won't need to reseal them. Another. More. Another. Don't stop. Eat. Drink. Fill yourself for me.
Let me feel you swell. I want to watch your strained clothing ride up your flesh and expose your taut, bloated belly. I need to hear you burp and moan with the pressure and pleasure of truly giving in. I can't wait to watch it all melt away and fill your lap with more warm fat.
Go on, polish off that bag of chips from earlier. Tip the bag back and prove that you don't need to pretend any more. Never again hold back your gluttony for appearances. You NEED to finish off that calorie loaded, family size sack before bed. A sense of completion is important after a long day to get some decent rest, you know.
And you’ll need plenty of rest to give your body time to grow.
Go ahead, roll your huge, swollen body into bed. I got you a heaping bowl of ice cream to finish off your day. Sweet and salty go so well together. Eat up. Dump some chocolate syrup on top. Treat yourself.
Actually, why not finish the gallon? Even after all I fed you, I can tell it wasn’t enough. I’ve got it nice and melted for you. Good, chug it down. Let it fill you and, if we’re lucky, finally satiate you.
I'll see you tomorrow for breakfast.
Gosh, you're fat. You're *so* FAT.

dress / hyunjin x reader
summary - jeongyeon ( from twice ) forced you to go to one of hyunjins frat parties.. blah blah, im tired 😞
warnings - afab reader, smut, sloppy blowjob, creampie, degrading, name calling, college au.. messy all around
“ i can’t believe you roped me into this mess.. “ you stormed into your shared dorm, throwing herself on your neatly made bed, stuffing your face between pillows. “ calm down, this is what im talking about, you need to loosen up a bit. you’re always so tensed up from work.. won’t this be a good opportunity to just.. let loose? yknow, calm some nerves. “ jeongyeon retorted, walking over and taking a seat besides you. “ but i hate parties.. it’s not that im socially awkward or anything.. it’s just, “
“ hyunjin will be there? “
you meekly nodded, getting up and sulking at jeongyeons side. you’ve liked hyunjin for.. god knows how long, you’ve always been too timid to talk to him or to even approach him. everytime he walks past you in the halls, a waft of butterflies erupts in your stomach, sending you running to jeongyeon about your girl crush. your roommate thought it was cute though, to see you gush over your crush and ending your speech with a sigh of relief. “ i don’t have anything nice to wear and just the thought of him alone is making me nervous.. i might barf. “ you held your stomach, feeling a wave of anxiety wash over you.
she thought for a moment.. eyes widen when an idea came to mind. “ i have some dresses that were given to me that you might like! i don’t wear them since they’re too risqué.. and i like to dress more conversitively. “
she shot up and started to rummage through her closet, coming back out with a cheeky, tight dress. “ you seriously want me to wear .. that? what if it doesn’t woo him over.. ill look like an idiot, a slutty idiot. “ you puffed your cheeks as a form of protest but jeongyeon didn’t take no for an answer, she grabbed your wrist and shoveled you into the bathroom with the dress still on the hanger. you rolled your eyes in annoyance, taking off your clothes and slipping the dress on ; the slit wasn’t too deep but it was deep enough to display your cleavage, your tits looked like they were basically spilling out the dress, not to mention how it hugged around your ass and how short it was. you grumbled as you opened the bathroom, tugging at the hem of the dress to lower it.
your roommate stared at you with huge eyes, bursting into laughter. “ oh my god, y/n.. you should totally wear that, it’ll catch everyone off guard. “
you flipped the bird and slipped on some heels, walking past her to hyunjins party.
you and jeongyeon finally arrived, she drifted off into the sea of people while you were trying to scavenge around for hyunjin. the heels gave you an advantage, trying to squeeze in between sweaty, drunk people was your biggest fear. ‘ god this is so gross. ‘ you screwed your eyes shut, bumping into something hard.. you almost fell on your ass if they didn’t catch you in time. their hand gracefully hovering right above your ass, making your face flush.
“ y/n?.. “ he quizzed.
you froze, throat starting to get dry from pure embarrassment. it was him. “ h-hey hyunjin.. “ you stuttered out, flashing him a crooked smile.
“ hey, pretty, i almost didn’t recognize you.. with this dress on. “ his voice became huskier, eyes glazing over your body, your breasts basically on display for the man.
“ it’s my roommates dress.. she let me borrow it for tonight. “
“ she needs to let you borrow it more often. “ he joked, finally letting you go.
you couldn’t help but let out a small laugh, rubbing your forearm as he tried to make small talk with you. “ is there anywhere more quiet?.. im just so tipsy and my head hurts.. “ you lied, just trying to get alone with him. he gave you a puzzled look but led you to his room upstairs, surprisingly it was pretty neat for a college boys room. you sat down and watched him close the door behind him, the music being drowned out by his heaving footsteps approaching you.
too nervous to say anything, hyunjin sat next to you, watching your tits bounce with the bed. you didn’t know it but hyunjin liked you as much as you adored him.. though in a much perverted way.
you take the chance and turn yourself around to lay down on hyunjin while he rested on his elbows. “ the musics so loud.. makes m’ head hurt. “ you slurred, unsure of where this boost of confidence was coming from. maybe it was the fact that hyunjin wasn’t good at being discreet when he stares. “ do you mind staying with me? i would love some company right now. “ you whispered, hand traveling up and down his toned body, breasts pressed up against his chest, ass sticking out slightly. you stared at his exposed midriff, admiring his porcelain skin and the prominent vline that you could see under his jeans.
he could feel his pants getting tighter as you dragged and teased him with your finger. “ gorgeous, i know you aren’t tipsy.. ive been watching you since you’ve came. if you wanted to stay with me you could’ve said so. “
an uhm croaked out, lips agape slightly. “ it’s alright with you..? “ you asked quietly, moving your hand dangerously low. he nodded and grabbed your small hand, intertwining it with his. it was much bigger than yours and his veins were visible.. his long slender fingers concealed yours, guiding it to where his bulge was located. “ s’ big and hard.. “ you mumbled, biting your flushed lip.
he let out a small laugh, watching his eyes crinkle. “ take it out, baby. “ hyunjin reassured, unbuttoning his pants, leaving you to unzip and push his garments down.. his cock flew up, almost slapping his exposed bellybutton, precum dribbling out his slit. you were too enamored to say anything, just stared at his dick between your fingers. that’s when you leaned down, collecting the salty residue that was leaking out on your tongue, using your warm tongue to glide over his shaft, slowly licking up and down his veins, wanting to savor everything. it’s not everyday that you have hwang hyunjins cock in your mouth.
quiet groans escaped past his pouty lips, gently caressing the side of your head as your tongue worked its way up and down his girthy cock. you moaned against his dick in bliss, sloppily making out with it. hyunjin thought it was the hottest thing ever, how you used your filthy mouth to desperately kiss and suck on his dick, how your lipstick smeared on your pretty lips and how his dick was covered in lipstick stained kisses.
your legs were pressed together, your white panties completely soaked as you continued to stuff your mouth with his cock. he gently facefucked you, snapping his hips up into your mouth, making desperate attempts for you to take him in fully. you gagged and whined, taking him out your mouth with a string of saliva still attached to his pink tip. your mouth hot and open with drool all over your chin and your eye makeup pouring down your cheeks.
“ holy fuck. “ he mumbled. you sat there and watched him get up, eyes glued to his erect dick, too distracted when hyunjin pushed you down on his bed, you whimper and watch his needy hands snake up your dress to tear your panties off. whining as the cold air met with your heated cunt.
“ it’s funny.. white is a color for purity and innocence and you are none of those things. “ he joked, spreading your legs apart and harshly squeezing the fat of your thighs. your puffy and swollen cunt exposed for him.
“hyunjin.. “ you weakly whined out, squirming around as he played with your clit with his tip, bucking your hips forward so pathetically. “ what do you want, princess? “ he questioned, wanting you to humiliate yourself underneath him. “ fuck me, please. please sir? “ you nicely asked, your eyes shut while your cheeks grew hotter.
“ of course, baby. “ — a slap to your face made you open your eyes, staring up at him in disbelief. your cheek stung but oddly enough it aroused you. “ look at me when i fuck you, alright? “ you nodded, too dumbfounded to form a sentence.
and without warning, he rammed his whole length inside you, your pussy contorting itself around his fat cock. “ f-fuck! “ you yelled out, his fingers being shoved in your mouth to keep you silent.
he was so rough with you which was unexpected— hyunjin was always so sweet and clumsy, you never thought he would be this type of man in the sheets. but it was a welcoming surprise.
hot tears started to stream down your face, looking up at hyunjin as his lips curled into a smirk. “ you’re crying? but weren’t you just being a total whore for me? sucking me off when we’ve barely known each other? “ he spat out, his words making you cry out even more.
your hands weakly held onto his arms, unable to do anything while he pounded you into his mattress. your moans were so distorted, moaning out his name and chanting curses ; spreading your legs further more so he could go balls deep inside you and his tip constantly kissing your cervix. it was too much for you.
your pussy squelching around his thick cock, squirting countless times and him still relentlessly fucking you. your clit abused as he slapped and rubbed it, how your face scrunched up and your eyes furrowed in worry — and his favorite part, how your tits jiggled everytime he thrusted into you. watching them bounce was enough to make him finish. “ who’s my good girl? huh? say it, slut. “ he said behind gritted teeth, grabbing your face and squeezing your cheeks between his hand, sticking his thumb inside your mouth.
“ im -im your good girl.. fuck! im your best girl, please.. hyunjinnn~ “ you rolled his eyes back, and kept slurring his name. “ look at my stupid whore, already cockdrunk.. “ he groaned, finally releasing creamy, hot ropes of white inside your cunt. watching his cum spill out from your abused pussy and fall on his wet sheets.
your whole body went limp, a sticky, sweaty mess but he still held you close to his chest. “ i don’t think your roommate would want her dress back. “

Ah the ren faire. A place to enjoy and celebrate the times of old. but this particular ren faire that you have decided to go one focuses on gluttony and food, a perfect place for those into feedism. it all smells so good. Everything at the fair encouraged the people to be as gluttous as they can be. Hearty stews, ginormous turkey legs, decadent pastries, all sorts of alcohol, and so much more drifted into your nose making your mouth water. The vendors all sold growth charms, potions, and extra large clothes as you will surely be bursting out of your current clothrs by the time you're done. The music was hypnotizing and seemed to put a spell on you to just gorge yourself. All sorts of contests took place at this faire. Eating and drinking contests galore. Contests to see who was the biggest.
Of course, nothing could compare to the king and queen of the fair and the ceremony that they conducted. They were ridiculously plump but very beautiful and handsome. An energetic jester called out “Come one come all for it is time for the king and queen to choose someone to be their yearly feedee to add to their collection and spoil!” Everyone cheers in excitement. The Queen tells the crowd to silence. The all go quiet, with the exception of the few sounds of people eating and drinking. They all sit in anticipation. You nervously wait for the answer, nibbling on a piece of sweet bread. The King and Queen look at you. The Queen gains a wide smile and whispers into the jester’s ear. The jester nods and comes up to you and pulls up to where the king and queen are and announces to the crowd “Your royal highnesses have chosen! May the ceremony commence!” You are dressed in lavish garbs that are practically twice your size and are sat down on a throne in front of a whole feast of food. One of the royal assistants coos into your ear “Dont worry you’ll fill those clothes very quickly. Maybe you might even burst out of them if the crowd desires it~”
You are given a chalice filled with a magenta liquid. As the vibrant drink touches your lips, noting the sweet taste, the music played by the fair bards grows quiet. As the last drops slide down your throat you are overcome by a unbearable and unbelievable hunger. You grab the nearest plate of grub and start devouring it. The bards start playing the energetic and hypnotic music again, giving you even more encouragement to eat and overindulge. Soon enough you find yourself slowing down. The King and Queen appear by your side. "Have no fear dear, we shall help get this feast into this lovely belly." They give your bulging stomach a hearty pat before feeding you the rest of the enormous feast.
You've filled your delicate clothes so much that now with each bite, your tummy protrudes from the shirt and your pants have grown tight. The last of the feast is shoveled into your mouth and a loud tearing noise is heard as your pants are torn and you belly swings down between your legs. The crowd cheers and applauds as you dazedly sit there enjoying your overstuffed tummy. People line up one by one to touch and rub it, feeling all the soft and luscious fat that you have accumulated.
At the end of the faire you are loaded in the back of a giant carriage and taken to the castle of which you'll be staying at. when you arrive, you are take to a large room. It's almost as big as ball room but your told that it's now your bedroom. A large pile of comfy cushions rest in the center. you waddle over with the best of your ability and lay down in it. As soon as you started to rest servants come in, some holding measuring tapes to help with making new clothes. Others come to feed you even more food and to rub your belly. The Queen enters, chuckles at the sight, gives you a light pat and kiss on your stomach. "Welcome to your new life of indulgence my dear~"
-🫐🐈
Truly sounds like an ideal life of indulgence oh my~
I do love fantasy and ren faires and this is such a lovely thought, being part of such a wonderful tradition to be fattened up for the King and Queen. I do also wonder if there's just a wing of their castle full of previously chosen fatties comfortably living their lives being waited on and having their big plush bodies adorned and taken care of

I'm back!
Uuuugh I was exhausted from my last post to this day. Mainly because I was a bit busy with my work and my daily lives.
And after this post, I might update late again. So... Apologize for that.
So to compensate that, here's another chapter. (Aaaaand to you anon!)
Tumblr media
You can read the previous one here
Bzzt-BAM!
Arrrgh!!
The golden eyed grabbed his neck to hold the pain. It was unbearable when the mark was plastered on sensitive skin. 319 furiously grunted looking back at another teen wearing a full covered suit. Directly searching for eye to eye through the soldier's helmet.
It's because of the fact that this person showed up.
It's because of the fact, he was just a mere worker and his opposite got more in control than him.
And it's because of what he did before this moment.
— — —
"Tch! This is your replacement? What are you? A skinny puny little rat like you will be watching us?? Is your system running out of manpower, eh, EH?? Cube people--?!"
Bzzt-BAM!
The air was drastically heavier in seconds as the sound of a taser gun struck a massive hit to the loud worker's neck. A high tone of gasp spread fast when the man flawlessly fell onto the brown arid floor. Every sight was now centering on the young soldier who was three times skinnier than him. Handing a smoked Taser gun directly to the fallen man's head, ready to shoot if he ever woke up.
"Anyone else wants to deny?"
That robotic tone from the young soldier stunned everyone who arrived at Bago Go’s. The scene made other soldiers amused, whereas the workers were only shocked by such horror. It was rumored by ex-criminals that Gur'latan's younger generations nowadays were imperious living in the most advanced country in the world, but he never realized how arrogant before their eyes.
"HAHAHA! You bring a feisty one, perfect!" A loud booming laugh from Oju Ju broke the tension for a little while giving his ‘biggest’ slap on the said soldier’s back. He then walked to the center of the crowd as he presented his speech, “Attention to all! From this day forward, This fellow soldier here will be my disciple! Tomorrow he will be in charge of sector B-8! Respect him fully as one of the Cubulus’ Forces. Are we done? Get back to work!”
The whole silent phase instantly full of life with all machines and friction of scrapped cube collide. Not once did the workers lay eyes on said new soldier when the teen were experiencing a sudden idol boom phenomenon. Questions popped out one by one like most reporters did to their clients.
“How well do you learn to use weapons at such a young age?”
“Who recommend you join these forces, young fella?”
“Do you join all by yourself?”
“Why don’t you prefer to join Forces at Baraju than here? That place had more potential for you, kid.”
All questions sounded dissonant through the soldier’s ear as his sight locked on the skinny young man in the middle of the giant aliens. The Golden eyed youngster’s looked drastically pale when the soldier turned slightly in his direction. His both hands gripped the shovel hard as if he was looking at a ghost. 319 couldn't see behind that helmet. But he can tell the soldier's side lip went upwards as he was satisfied finding the target amongst the crowds.
The soldier’s lucky day couldn’t be better than this.
— — —
Their gaps were close. Despite their heights being coincidentally similar, one of them was all four on the ground in tremor towards the steady opponent. Still no sign of lessering his taser gun.
“Who told you to sleep?”
The robotic voice woke the golden-eyed teen. Just by the tone, the pickling sweats covered most of his face, his back, and all of his body. How the hell could the youngest personnel take control of a bunch of adults older than him? It was only a small crash of the black hair with white stripe boy accidentally did! That soldier was more ruthless than Oju Ju!
He had an idea, it was a gamble surely if your nose was almost five feet away from the tip of the gun. 319 was convinced he practically heard the buzzing electronic noise from it.
“For being a new recruiter….” He took a short breath while slowly standing on his feet. Slightly rickety but with the big pile of iron beside him as hand support, he let out his breath when he was finally on two feet,  “...You sure are young like I am.”
The opponent re aimed towards the golden eyed boy without losing his grip, “You have no permission to communicate with the Cubulus Forces.”
Great, making a small dialog with the soldier was a bad idea after all.
“My apologies.”The boy raised two hands in defeat,  “But what should I call you then?”
The soldier’s body movement was still unwavering. At this rate, 319 felt he was just talking to a statue more than a robot. So he gave a sigh, it was his only chance to get to know him better, to realize he was not alone in this land, was not gone. He then grabbed his fallen shovel and made a small nod towards his “boss” before departed—
“319.”
His shoulder went lump hearing his name being called by the same tone. What now?
“Hiding a weapon without permission is violating the law of section B-08 paragraph 3.”
This made the said teen’s eyes fully wide. “Sir, I swear I didn’t hide anything! This shovel is all I have!” He presented the item right in front of the opponent with a sudden high tone.
No response from the opposite view as the gun on the soldier's right hand was lowered from targeting the face to the pocket located inside the left side of 319’s uniform. The golden eyed boy looked between his pocket and the soldier in shock. He kept that watch inside. What did he mean by hiding a weapon? This?! This spotless broken watch was identified as a weapon?!
“Hand over the watch to the authorities by all means necessary.”
“Hand over the watch,_____!”
That line unconsciously made him rub the side of his head. He had no idea how similar the line and that scene was before his eyes. It felt realistic within a second that he blinked several times.
“No.”
“Who told you to protest, 319?”
H-huh? good question. He did ask the same thing. He never knew why he said it out loud. “I-I mean, it’s just a watch, isn't it? I-it barely doesn’t work–”
“Hand. over. The watch.”
The gap was closer as the gun was directly near the nose. The advantage of having the same height was the soldier could shoot the target more comfortably than dealing with higher or larger aliens than him. Again, why was he chosen to work in the least job to occupy? There were dozens of good fields to find that gave more benefit for long lasting lives other than this. 319 once overheard one of the troops talk about how low their manpower was compared to other forces from other nations. Yet, this young man here, born and raised from the central nation of the entire world. Who got more chances to be anything and everything in there.
So why…
You know what? It did not matter anyway. He got nowhere else to go after all. 319 exhaled a deep breath. Then grabbed the watch that he hid inside his pants. He accidentally smacked the item onto the soldier’s hand. He did not even mind how rude his act toward the authorities was. He just want this to end—
“Hiding will not get you anything! Why do you fight against us, ______!?”
BUM! BUM!
“....He’s right. We cannot hide anymore.”
“And surrender like others?! No, they already got Gopal and Qually, Fang!“
“So are the girls, ______ !”
BUM!
“I… I have to do it! Either you run away or so help me! ______ Dual Split!”
“We got this Fang. I suspect there’s another shelter located on the east side of the central place. Go there and call General Kaizo.”
“And leaving you guys alone?!”
“We don’t have much time, Fang! I give you time to escape, now!”
“...tch! Make sure you all stay together or so help me!”
BUM!
“Watch out—Solar!"
—
Bruk!
Two seconds. It was only two seconds but the whole scene was exhausting to watch, let alone to experience it. In just two seconds, the golden eyed boy could not handle the weight that he saw from that vision. His two feet unconsciously walked backwards as a response to the opponent walking forward. Unfortunately, the left foot tripped an iron pole that he fell hard on the ground.
The soldier's stance was looking like a real ghost in 319’s eyes. His beating heart was rapidly high. His fast breathing was uncontrollable. And his cold sweat was drastically covering his backside. Yet his tremor hands decided to help him to push backwards until he sense a solid surface for gaining onto his feet. He looked in a slight second before quickly turning 180 degrees and running far away from the young soldier.
He did not have interest to look back at his stolen amusing watch anymore.
....
That's it for now! :D

"Cloned your...you sent a CLONE? Back in time? To stop me?" Miranda gasped, at 690 pounds, she was the skinniest woman left in the galaxy. Her hover chair sputtering under her weight as she shoveled handfuls of caramel corn into her cheeks. chewing fat greasy chicken as she stared at the 5999 lb Shepard blob.
"Of all the stupid ideas. Shepard you could just put your brain into a new body. We dont have to all die. I'm not forcing this on anyone." This was, technically a lie. Miranda had in fact, seized all means of production and crowned herself a fat defacto empress of the galaxy. Her food inducing a ravenous, lazy, hungry state that everyone had succumbed to. Society was collapsing. "We can just ascend to thinness and get fat again!"
Shepard, chocolate pudding smearing her mouth. Arms falling asleep. Chest tingling. Her last act of defiance. She wheeze for breath. Her massive ass, floppy boobs, and rolls upon rolls upon rolls literally crushing her. "A son. Miranda.. genetically altered to resist your chunky charms. My son will find a way to stop you. He'll save the galaxy. He's his mom's kid. He's a Shepard."
---somewhere in the Andromeda galaxy 40 years in the past----
"Look at her go! Fuck she's a little slut." PeeBee laughs, grabbing the back of Shepard's head and grinding her face into her fat fupa and juicy Azure.
Suvi, her soft tummy resting on the poor cloned Shep's back, was busy pounding her tight asshole with the biggest thickest strap on she could find, while sucking a milkshake.
It appears that saving the galaxy, did not run in shepard's DNA.
But being a horny, gay, polyamorous, fat loving alien fucker did.

Shake your hair, have some fun Forget our mothers and past lovers, forget everyone Oh, I'm so lucky, you are my best friend Oh, there's no one, there's no one that knows me like you do
I sleep in far too long on Wednesday. It’s just after half 11 when I eventually roll over to check my phone. I had intended to go for a run but I feel so shitty from oversleeping it’s now the furthest thing from my mind.
Coffee and food are all I can think of as I struggle out of my blanket. The floor sends a shockwave of cold through the soles of my feet. Definitely a dressing gown kind of day. I grab my extra-large, extra snuggly green tartan robe off the back of my door and wrap it tightly round myself.
I’m surprised to find Connie has already left when I enter our living room/kitchen, until I remember he’s helping his parents. They’re expecting a large delivery at Springer’s today and they asked him to lend a hand.
Yawning like a bear emerging from hibernation, I flick the kettle on and drag my favourite cup towards me; Jake the Dog and his bacon pancakes having all but rubbed off from over usage. I chuck some instant coffee inside the mug, not bothering to measure it out, and hunt for something decent to eat.
The giant box of Coco Pops I picked up shopping yesterday comes out of the cupboard first, followed by some sliced bread that needs using. As well as a dressing gown kind of day, it is most definitely a two breakfasts kind of day. I pop the bread in the toaster and get the biggest bowl we have for my cereal, the toast pinging just as the kettle begins to bubble and jiggle.
I’ve just pulled up a stool at the breakfast bar when my phone beeps, dancing across the bench with the vibration. A WhatsApp notification from…Marco? I blink hard a couple of times and open it. Has he text me instead of the group by mistake?
ItsaMeeMarco:
Hey! Just wondered if you and Connie are free before practise for a drink or food or whatever? I’m working until 5 and it’s a bit pointless going home just to come all the way back again. No worries if not. I’m sure I can entertain myself! :D
Then another pops straight up.
I know Eren’s working btw in case you thought I was missing him out ;)
As if he’s worried about not including Eren. Nerd. I smile as I tap out my reply in between sips of coffee.
HeresJeany:
Hey man. Con’s working today but I’ll be around. Should I meet you outside work when you finish?
ItsaMeeMarco:
Yeah sounds good! It’s Tiny Toes (don’t laugh) round the corner from the old church. Did you say you knew where that was?
HeresJeany:
Yep. I’ll see you just after 5?
ItsaMeeMarco:
Okay see you later :)
Staring at his little smiley face, I find myself grinning back at it. I shovel a few more spoonfuls of Coco Pops into my mouth and glance out the window. Looks like the clouds are starting to move on, revealing light blue sky and streaks of blaring sunshine.
Maybe I can face going for a run.
Feeling considerably more energized, I hop off the stool and go to get changed.
A couple of hours later, I emerge from my extra-long, extra hot shower, looking like a lobster but feeling fucking amazing. Knowing Connie won’t be home anytime soon, I’m free to strut about the apartment wearing nothing but the few drops of water that are still clinging to my fringe, the colder air soothing my red-hot skin. Christ it’s refreshing!
I randomly think of what Historia would say, imagining her cute angry face berating me about how bad long, hot showers are for the environment. I chuckle a little at the thought and I pour myself a glass of water.
My body is pretty much dry but I can still feel the odd drip running from my hair and down my neck. I head back to my room to grab a towel and dry it. My fringe is getting kinda long and my undercut’s starting to feel pretty shaggy. Guess I’m overdue for a haircut.
I spend a little longer than necessary deciding what to wear. It’s that time of year when you could be freezing your tits off one minute and then sweating the next, so I have to choose carefully.
Or at least that’s what I tell myself. The barely noticeable (yet most definitely present) squirming sensation in my gut suggests otherwise.
Am I nervous?
The realisation that it is indeed nerves causing me to fuss only serves to make the feeling ten times worse. Why am I fucking nervous? Then it hits me. I’d genuinely been looking forward to hanging out with Marco and had thought nothing of saying yes when he asked to meet up. But now, I’m worried we won’t hit it off like we did on Monday and it’ll be awkward as fuck. Yes we got along no problem then, but Eren and Connie were there too. Anxiety prickles over me at the thought of not having them as a buffer. The idea of cancelling crosses my mind but I quickly dismiss it. Even I can appreciate that would be a dick move.
You know he’ll be on his own for two hours because he said it’s not worth going home AND he just fucking moved here. He barely knows anyone. Stop being such a massive tool you selfish prick!
My little reprimand calms me down and the knot in my gut loosens considerably. Marco has invited me and I need to make the effort instead of getting hung up on my own social anxieties.
I eventually settle on black skinny jeans and a long sleeve, grey top with a button detail. I dig around in my wardrobe for a denim jacket that I haven’t worn in a while, deciding it’ll be a bit warmer than my hoodie. I can always take it off if it gets too warm.
Shoving my feet into my Vans, I’m about to leave when I clock myself in the mirror next to the front door. Shit. A section of my fringe is sticking right up at a bizarre angle, probably from running my fingers through it earlier when I was stressing. I do my best to flatten it, but it pings back up like a fucking Jack-in-the-box.
Guess we’re going with the beanie then I think, grabbing my plain black one off the side. I swing my guitar case over my back and head out the door.
___________________________________
Our practice space and Marco’s nursery are both on the other side of Trost, which means I have to drive through the city centre. Not ideal when rush hour is just starting. I spend the best part of twenty minutes in a queue at the lights, but once I turn off for West Trost, the traffic thankfully flows more easily.
The mix of tall, glass-fronted buildings and people hurrying about in business suits dissipates into small boutiques and Georgian town houses, as I continue down the main road. The rental prices are way higher in this area; the older architecture and close-proximity to Trost centre attracting both affluent families and young professionals on crazy salaries. However, turning left at the next crossroads, you’d think you were a million miles away from any sort of wealth and prosperity.
The houses here are squat and packed closely together. Some are lucky enough to have gardens, but most have concrete drives with the odd weed protruding from the cracks. A few kebab shops here and there, which look like they'd seriously struggle to pass a food safety inspection, have switched their neon lights on.
At the next crossroads, where I’d usually take a left for the industrial estate, I take a right past the old church. Just a little further down the road, I’m surprised to see so many cars lining the small street on the right where the nursery is. Then it clicks that they obviously belong to parents picking their kids up. I don’t fancy my chances trying to find a space that close to the nursery, so I don’t bother turning, continuing instead down the road a few yards before pulling in next to the curb. I’m a bit early – it’s only 4:55 according to my phone - but I’m craving some fresh air, so I jump out of my Mini and head down the street.
There’s a few people milling around and chatting outside the gate of the nursery. I pull my phone out of my pocket and lean against a short stone wall next to them, while I wait for Marco.
I’m just scrolling through Instagram when the murmurs around me grow quieter and I get the uneasy feeling I’m being watched. Glancing up, I see a couple of women looking in my direction before quickly turning their backs and carrying on with their conversation. I notice a few more wary glances and then I click. These people probably see each other every time they pick their kids up, and if they don’t know each other personally, they certainly know each other’s faces. They’re no doubt wondering Who the fuck is this guy? I really hope I don’t look suspicious.
A particularly frumpy lady turns now, looks distastefully at the rips in the knees of my jeans and whips her head back round. Shit. I definitely look fucking suspicious. I debate shuffling a bit further away but realise that’ll make me look even worse. I decide staring at my phone is the best idea for now, but feel my cheeks going red as I will myself not to look like a child catcher. Thankfully the door opens just then, distracting everyone from the potential pedo in the unkempt jeans.
“Hello!” calls a cheery voice.
A pretty girl with light brown hair comes out to unlock the gate. I’m expecting a bunch of kids to come running out, laughing with their friends and shouting for their adults, but instead, the parents all start walking through the gate and queuing at the open nursery door. I guess nursery kids are still pretty small - they must have to hand them over one by one.
I hang back, not wanting to cause any more unease and suspicion. Although, I do think about how funny it would be to join the queue and pick up Marco, asking loudly if he had been a good boy today. I don’t think we’re quite at that stage in our friendship Jean.
The girl who opened the gate is now calling the names of kids as their adult gets to the front of the queue. I don’t see Marco. A few more people give me side-ways glances as they walk past to join the queue. It all seems way too sensible. Far more organised than I remember the end of the school day, when home time was basically just a massive free for all.
A few people jump into cars with their tiny humans. The rest walk back up onto church street, holding hands or simply letting their kids run ahead. Probably hoping they’ll tire themselves out a bit more. That would be my plan anyway. Another lady hurries past me.
“Here she is Georgie!” the girl at the door shouts.
A girl with blonde pigtails comes skipping out clutching a piece of paper, chanting ‘mammymammymammy!’.
The woman throws a word of thanks over her shoulder as she grabs the little girl’s hand.
“Look I drew a pic-cha of my tea-cha!” the little girl says gleefully, waving the piece of paper.
“Ooooh lovely sweetie. Is that Mr Bodt?”
Bodt! That’s how you pronounce his second name! I mentally thank them both for clearing that one up.
As she trots past, I manage to catch a glimpse of the picture. The green squiggle doesn’t even look human, never mind like Marco. But the freakishly oversized head does appear to have dots scribbled all over it. At least she got the freckles right.
I’m just starting to wonder if Marco is even in there when he appears at the door, holding a tiny girl with dark brown hair on his hip. Like, even by nursery standards she’s tiny. You'd be forgiven for thinking he'd flipped his noodle and was holding a little porcelain doll.
At first, I’m a bit taken aback. There’s something very odd about seeing Marco with a kid - I’ve always found it a bit weird seeing anyone my age with a kid. The concept just feels so alien to me. But then that feeling melts away and I decide it’s not weird in the slightest. It looks right on Marco. She’s clutching his burgundy jumper, silent tears streaming down her face. Marco smiles as he talks to her, clearly assuring her everything is fine.
Looks like someone’s late to pick their sprog up.
I can’t help but feel sorry for her. It’s easy to forget how scary it is to be that small and thinking you’ve lost your adult. But at least she's got Marco to comfort her, his free arm rubbing at her shoulder soothingly. It's actually really sweet and the corners of my mouth twitch into a fond smile as I look at them, warmth spreading through my chest.
He spots me as he’s scanning the street for any sign of the missing parent.
Please don’t tell me you were stood staring at him smiling like a total dork when he looked!
If I was, he’s clearly taken no notice. His smile brightens and he gives me a quick wave before miming that he won’t be long. I nod in response and look back down at my phone, but the sound of a car engine makes my head snap back up. Someone is tearing down the road way too fast for such a narrow street. They screech to a halt, pull up just in front of me and hop out. It’s a woman with messy brown hair and a slightly crazed look in her eye. She flails past me, huffing and pushing her glasses back up her nose.
“Sorryyyyyy!” she shouts, skidding to a stop in front of Marco. “I got held up at work. Hey pumpkin!”
She holds out her arms, but the little girl just narrows her eyes and clutches Marco tightly. It’s both adorable and hilarious. She looks positively vengeful!
“Aww c’mon she said she was sorry,” Marco encourages.
“I’m sorry for making you worry darling. I promise I got here as fast as I could.”
The girl continues to scowl but her grip on Marco slackens a fraction.
“Okay, well you can stay here if you like, or…we can go meet daddy in the tea shop and have some chocolate cake!”
The little girl’s eyes go wide but I can tell she’s trying really hard not to betray her scowl, her lips almost twitching into a smile.
“Choccy! Choccy! Choccy cake!” cries the woman tickling the little girl.
She squirms in Marco’s arms, squealing with laughter and is scooped up by her mother.
“There we go!” says Marco happily. “Everything all right at Bean’s?”
Bean’s? Does she work there too? I don’t recognise her, but then I never knew Marco worked there either.
“Yeah the Area Manager dropped by quite late but it was fine. I was practically pushing them out the door when my shift ended. Say bye to Mr Bodt Shelly Belly,” she says turning to her little girl.
“Bye Mr Bodt,” she says waving her tiny hand, even though she’s right in front of his face.
“Bye Kuchell. Have fun at the tea shop.”
“Oh we will,” the woman says turning to leave. “Levi’ll be picking her up the next couple of days but I’ll see you at work on Saturday ‘kay?” she calls over her shoulder.
“Okay no worries. See you Hanji. Bye Kuchell!”
“Bye!” they both call in unison, heading back to the car.
Marco walks up the path towards me. “Hey Jean. Sorry I’m a bit late. I just need to grab my stuff then we can go.”
“It’s fine man honestly don’t worry.”
“Alright two secs,” he says heading back inside.
He emerges a minute later wearing a leather jacket, carrying his guitar on one shoulder and a bag on the other.
“See you tomorrow Petra!” he calls back inside and strides up the path towards me. “Did you find a parking space okay?” he asks as he reaches me.
“Yeah I’m just at the end of the road. All the parents beat me to the good spaces. Here let me give you a hand with that,” I offer grabbing his guitar case.
“Oh! Thanks,” he smiles, a little taken aback by my gesture. I’m a bit taken aback by it too to be honest.
“Well you’re making me feel bad carrying nothing when you’re loaded up like a pack mule.”
He smiles wider, adjusting the bag on his other shoulder.
“So where do you fancy going?” I ask.
“Well to be honest, I was going to ask you. I still don’t really know many places around Trost,” he says sheepishly.
I think for a moment. Unless he fancies the grotty pub a few streets over, there's certainly nowhere decent to go in this part of the city. I’m glad I’ve got my car.
“Okay, there’s a place I know not too far from here. Will only take a few minutes in the car.”
“Alright, sounds good.”
___________________________________
We drive back down to the church and take a right, heading just a little further away from Trost centre. The streets become tree-lined again and the houses a little grander. Rose Quarter is easily my favourite part of Trost. It’s like a miniature town of its own, full of independent stores and restaurants. There are a couple of decent bars around here too. Marco doesn’t say anything as we drive, he just gazes out the window with wide eyes and a soft smile.
At first I feel a bit awkward, like I should say something, but I guess he’s just taking in his surroundings. This area is probably brand-new to him. I swing the car into a residential street that I know has free parking and bring the car to a stop.
“This area’s nice!” Marco says chirpily. We unclick our belts and jump out of the car.
“Yeah it’s tucked out of the way so you wouldn’t think to come here if you didn’t know Trost well. There’s lots of good places to eat on the main street though,” I add, locking the car and leading the way back up the road.
I remember something I wanted to ask back at the nursery. “You know that woman who turned up late? Did I hear her say she worked at Bean’s?”
“Hanji? Yeah she’s the manager actually. Bit mental but she’s lovely,” he grins, falling into step with me as we head closer to the hustle and bustle. “Her little girl’s really quiet but she’s coming out of her shell a bit more now. She was having problems with some of the other kids at her old nursery so I told Hanji to give mine a try. I think she likes it much better.”
“What the hell kind of problems can nursery kids have?” I ask astonished. What could possibly be hard about playing in the sand pit all day?
“I know right? I think her old place was a bit well-to-do and the snotty parents had kids who were just as bad. Obviously my nursery’s not particularly affluent, just the opposite actually, but the kids are much nicer.”
It’s kind of sweet how he says ‘my nursery’ and from the way his eyes sparkle while he talks about it, I can tell he loves the place.
“Sorry. I’m sure you don’t want to talk about nursery and kids stuff,” he says with an awkward laugh.
“What? No not at all! I was just thinking, I assumed kids from an area like that might be a bit of a handful. It’s not exactly the best place to live in Trost.”
“Oh!" he says, relieved. "Well, yeah, some of them can be but I don’t mind. They’re dealing with a lot at home y’know? They have good days and bad days. Mostly though they’re all quite sweet.”
I lead us around the corner. “So, what do you fancy? There’s a really good burger place there, Mexican a bit further along or Reeve’s over the road, which does a bit of everything.”
“Burger sounds good!”

We snag a booth in the window – perfect for people watching – and order the works; burgers, fries, milkshakes and onion rings to share.
We chat about nothing in particular – how he gets to work, how long it takes him blah blah - while we wait for our food. I feel at ease. I don’t know why I was so worried earlier. The conversation soon turns to the band and he starts quizzing me about Connie and Eren.
“So have you guys been playing together long?” he asks in between mouthfuls of his gigantic falafel and halloumi burger.
“Well we’ve been practising in some form or another since we were like, seventeen. But we only started taking it seriously about four years ago.”
“Oh, so you’ve known each other a while then?”
I take a nice long sip of my banana milkshake, nodding. “Yeah ages. I’ve been friends with Connie for as long as I can remember. I’ve known Eren a long time too but we didn’t exactly become friends until a few years ago.”
“Oh?” he says curiously, raising an eyebrow at me.
“Yeah we didn’t used to get along,” I chuckle. “But eventually we grew out of that. We’re really close now.”
Saying ‘we didn’t used to get along’ might be the understatement of the century. It would be more accurate to say we fucking hated each other.
It wasn’t so bad when we were kids. We were in the same circle of friends and, aside from the occasional tug of war for Connie’s attentions, we were pretty much indifferent to each other. However, that changed dramatically when we were about twelve and I suddenly realised Eren’s sister, Mikasa, was the most astoundingly beautiful person I had ever seen in my life.
I don’t think I’ll ever forget that moment - my actual 'thunderbolt' moment. It was the school Christmas disco. I rocked up in my usual baggy jeans and baggy t-shirt (every inch the skater boy) but I was particularly excited to show off the brand new DC cap my dad had bought me.
I was wrestling it back from Connie when I looked up and there she was, walking into the school hall. I swear I nearly had a nose bleed. A few of the other girls followed closely behind but I barely registered them, I only had eyes for Mikasa.
She was wearing a dark purple, velvet dress that swished just above her knees and as she walked towards us, my eyes were drawn down her dark tights to a pair of black glittering heels. They were short heels but that didn’t matter (I’d never seen Mikasa in heels before!) and I noticed the little wiggle they created in her walk.
Then I noticed something else new, framed perfectly by her cascading black hair – eyeliner! It made her eyes look fucking amazing, her gaze piercing as she drew nearer still. There was also a slight shine to her lips. I found myself wondering what her lip gloss would taste like and then blushed furiously.
Ripping my gaze away from her, I looked first at the floor, then the ceiling and then at the boys. Connie was also bright red and looking down (probably having a similar reaction to Sasha), but Eren was staring right at me, his green eyes ablaze with fury. I’d been caught staring at his sister. I babbled something about needing a drink and practically ran towards the bench where the juice was being served. Connie followed me, both of us scrambling to get away before the girls noticed our scarlet faces.
Things between Eren and I deteriorated pretty quickly after that. He had nothing to worry about though. It soon became painfully obvious that Mikasa did not and would never think of me the same way, but that didn’t stop him giving me the evil eye every time I went anywhere near her.
We pretty much grew to hate each other - our arguing and namecalling more often than not descending into full-blown fights. I was once grounded for a fortnight in the summer holidays after I split his lip open. It was a lucky shot. I stumbled trying to hit him, so my fist collided with his face a bit harder than I had intended (or could even manage at that age). I was only 15 and it happened just after my dad had left us all. Eren made a cruel remark at my expense and I just lost it.
I think he regretted those words a few weeks later though, when his own dad walked out. You’d be forgiven for thinking that might have brought us closer together, but honestly, it just made things worse. Each of us a reflection of the other’s pain and anger. A reminder that we weren’t coping as well as we wanted others (and ourselves) to believe.
He just confirmed what I didn’t want to admit - that I was a weak little boy who desperately wanted his dad back. I think he felt that when he looked at me too. The fighting and arguments worsened to the point that we just agreed to stop speaking to each other. It was too exhausting, for both us and for our long-suffering friends.
But then, when Eren’s mother died in a car accident less than two years later, everything changed. That day, like my parents telling me about their impending divorce or finding out my dad had left, is forever seared into my memory; the pain of it dampened over time but never fully gone, a memory that quickly brings a steel fist smashing into my gut if I dwell on it too long.
That was a fucking horrible day. I was at home when Connie rang me in a total panic. I couldn’t get my head around what he was saying. Mrs Jaeger was dead. Eren and Mikasa had rushed to the hospital but it was too late by the time they arrived. Eren had ran off and nobody knew where he was. I heard him tell me those things and I understood them, but I couldn’t process the reality of it all. It felt like he was telling me an awful story or explaining a nightmare. The only thing I could grasp was that I needed to get myself to Eren’s house. Now. Mikasa had asked us all to meet there and then search for Eren.
I fully expected to find Mikasa sobbing, with everyone gathered around trying to comfort her. The Jaegers were Mikasa’s Godparents and adopted her when she was about 7. She’d already suffered through the pain of losing her biological parents, the abandonment of Eren’s dad, and now she’d lost another mother. I couldn’t even begin to comprehend the amount of grief she was feeling. When I walked through the door and into the kitchen, however, there was…nothing. No crying. No hugging. Not even a sniffle. There were tell-tale tracks of tears down her cheeks but they had long since dried.
Her pale face whipped around and in a voice devoid of any emotion, she simply said, “Good everyone’s here now. Sasha and Historia check the park. Connie run down to the graveyard. I don’t think he’ll go there but it’s where his grandma is buried so you never know. Armin you’re with me. We’ll check the neighbours and nearby streets. He might just be wondering around.” Her words were cold, matter-of-fact. There was nothing behind her eyes. It was fucking scary.
“Wh-Where should I look Mikasa?” I stammered.
She started heading for the doorway, not even looking at me. “You stay here in case any of us call or in case Eren comes back.”
“Oh. Okay.”
Everyone took that as their cue to leave, faces distraught and anxious as they brushed passed me.
I don’t know how long I was on my own. I kept glancing at the clock but couldn’t actually take in the time, a million and one thoughts racing through my head.
I was chewing my fingers and pacing the kitchen floor when I looked up, and there he was. I froze, rooted to the spot as I stared out the window at him, making sure I wasn’t seeing things. He was just standing there in the garden, gazing off into space. I thought about calling out but I didn’t want to startle him. Instead, I opened the back door and tentatively padded out into the garden. He didn’t move. I walked a little further until I was in his line of sight, but he still didn’t take any notice. His piercing green eyes looked right through me.
“Eren?” I ventured in the gentlest voice I could manage.
He didn’t respond. I took a few small steps towards him. “Eren, I..”
Still nothing. I closed the gap and reached my hand towards his shoulder. “Eren I’m so-”
“No!” his eyes whipped up to meet mine and I jumped back, startled by the sudden reaction. He was gritting his teeth but I could see the corners of his eyes were wet and threatening to spill over.
I tried again. “Eren I’m so s-”
“NO!” he cried with more intensity, slapping my hand away from his shoulder.
I felt my own tears prickling as I took in the sheer amount of anguish written all over his face. “Eren please.”
“NO!” he raged, this time shoving his palms against my chest. Tears had started to pour down his cheeks. I stepped forward and reached my arms out again.
“No goddammit!” he pushed me again but with less force. I persevered and finally closed the gap, reaching my arms around his shoulders.
“N-oh!” His voice cracked painfully as he pounded my chest again, but he didn’t push me. The dull thuds vibrated through my whole body. “No…no, no, no!”
He drew in a shuddering breath…And then he broke. Half sobbing, half screaming against me, his hands desperately grasping handfuls of my t-shirt. I had to sink to my knees to support us both. And then I just held him while he let it all out, my own tears running silently down my face and into his hair.
“I’ve got you,” I whispered. “You’re okay I’ve got you. We’ve all got you Eren.”
“Eren!?” I turned to see Mikasa running down the side of the house towards us, Armin not far behind. Eren slackened his vice grip on my clothes and turned towards her, still sobbing. She skidded onto her knees and hooked both her arms under his. For a second, she just stared, wide-eyed.
And then she broke too. The sound of her agonised cries ripped through me and I felt another wave of tears cascading down my cheeks. I scrambled to my feet to give them some space. Armin, sniffling, walked slowly towards them, dropped to their knees and hugged them both without saying a word.
It was all too much. I gave a choked whimper and hurried back indoors. Sinking down against the sofa, I raised my fist to my mouth and bit down on my knuckle, trying to stifle my own cries. My eyes burned with the intensity of trying and failing to stop the tears. My throat felt ragged and raw from the effort of holding back my sobs. Eventually, I got myself under enough control to reach for the phone to tell the others to come back.
Eren and I were different after that. At first we were overly cautious around each other, like we were scared of saying something that sounded too harsh or insincere. However, we soon began to relax and things became easier, more natural. The closer we grew, the more I realised we’re alike in a lot of ways. We're both easily riled and can be hot-headed, but we care fiercely about our friends and will do anything to stop them getting hurt. These days, there’s not a lot I wouldn’t do for the guy and I’m sure he’d say the same about me. We know we’ll always have each other’s backs. It’s a comforting feeling.
“Do we have any gigs coming up then?” Marco asks, plunging me back into the present. My rumination has left an unpleasant, melancholic feeling twisting in my chest, but I try to shrug it off and bring my focus back to Marco. Before, I can answer his question, however, I find myself a bit distracted. Looking up, my eyes immediately lock onto a little blob of beetroot mayonnaise on his chin. I feel my face contorting into a wicked grin and have to suck in my bottom lip to keep from laughing in his face.
“D’you need a bib mate?” I ask cheekily, the corners of my mouth twitching uncontrollably.
“Hmm?” Marco mumbles around another mouthful of burger, quirking his eyebrow at me.
My eyes flick down to his chin and back up to his confused gaze. He must finally feel the mayo tickling his skin and swipes his hand across his chin, catching the blob deftly on the end of one finger. His cheeks and ears turn crimson as he realises just how much was there and I finally allow myself to laugh at his expense.
“Piss off,” he says and chucks a napkin at my face. He starts laughing too. I’m off the hook.
“Don’t throw that away you clearly need it!” I retort cheekliy.
“Well now you’re gonna need it!” The finger with the blob zooms menacingly towards my face, threatening to jab my nose.
“Urgh! God get away!” I half laugh, half squeak, squishing myself as far back into the booth as I can and swat at his hand.
He laughs devilishly before popping the finger in his mouth to lick off the mayonnaise. My lower abdomen gives a short, sharp tug.
What the fuck?
I ignore the weird prickling sensation spreading out across my chest too and change the subject.
“A-anyway to answer your question, yes, we’ve got a couple of gigs coming up. Connie’s parents own a bar and we always play there the last Friday of the month.”
“So will that be next week?” His flush calms considerably as he thinks this over.
“Yeah. We’ve also signed up to a ‘Battle of the Bands’ next month. We’ve done one before. They’re usually a good laugh.”
“Oh! I’ve never done one of those. Sounds good.”
“Might be good to squeeze in an extra practise at some point next week if you’re free. Just so you can get your head around our songs for the gig on Friday.”
“Yeah I was just thinking the same. I’m sure I’ll be free on a couple of extra evenings. And I’ll practise on my own in the meantime.”
We continue to chat about the band, which soon turns into swapping funny or embarrassing stories about past gigs. Tears are escaping the corners of my eyes by the time he finishes telling me about a wedding gig, where the bride’s over-excited aunty pantsed him on stage in front of the whole wedding party.
“So you just left them down!?” I squawk.
“Well we were in the middle of a song and everyone had already got an eyeful of my superman boxers, so yeah.”
“Oh my god. Amazing.”
“I’m just glad she stopped at my jeans! I pulled them back up once the song finished. Reckon it was the biggest clap of the night.” My cheeks are stretched sore at this point from all the smiling and chuckling. “Anyway,” he continues, “the moral of the story is – Always wear a belt at weddings.”
My laughter abruptly stops when my eyes flit to the clock on the back wall.
“Fuck is that right?” I look at my watch and then my phone just to make sure. “Shit Marco it’s five to seven!”
“Oh! Oops. We best get the bill then.”

Summary: Philza finds out about your little “habit”
Word count: 1,962
You grinned as you flew through the air with your feathers glinting in the low sunlight. You absolutely loved the feeling of freedom you got whenever you flew. It always gave you a sense of calm when you needed a break from your family. You loved them of course, but you needed a break once and a while; you often felt drained if you didn’t take some time to yourself. The cold air rushed past you as you continued to flap your wings to keep you in the air.
You could not see the ground below you as you soared higher into the clouds, weaving in and out of them. Flying higher, you steadied yourself to look at the sunset. The mixture of pinks, oranges, and yellows blended together perfectly. You always loved the sunset, it was one of the only consistent things in your life. You wished that you could stay hovering hundreds of feet above the ground, but mobs were going to be spawning soon. The last time you stayed out past sunset you had almost gotten killed by a skeleton. Your dad had given you quite the lecture after he made sure that you were alright. You still had the scars on your arms from when it tried to shoot you out of the air.
You angled yourself so you were upside down, put your arms tight to your sides, and extended your wings fully behind you. You dove closer and closer to the earth, quickly picking up speed. The wind whipped around you as you gained velocity, getting closer and closer to the ground by the millisecond. At the last second, you fully extended your wings and drastically slowed your descent to the ground. The extra velocity you had made you soar up once again before you regained control and landed safely on the ground. The adrenaline that the skydive gave you was the most exhilarating feeling you’ve ever felt, and you were always craving it. Your dad didn’t find it as fun or exhilarating as you did.
“(Y/N) (M/N) MINECRAFT.”
Your father’s voice boomed from behind you. You could tell that he was in a lecturing mood without even having to look at him. He grabbed your arm and spun you around. Grabbing your other arm, he looked you up and down with worried blue eyes. After seeing that you were alright, his gaze hardened and he took a deep breath.
“Do you have any idea how dangerous that was?”
He rattled on and on about how you could’ve killed yourself, but quite frankly you didn’t care if you died or got hurt. In your opinion, the adrenaline you got was worth it. You had three lives you could spend, and if you did die, you wanted to go out with a bang all three times. What could you say? You were an adrenaline junkie through and through.
He started to drag you inside the house mid lecture. Swinging open the door, he pulled you towards the kitchen, where the scent of fresh mushroom stew wafted from the pot on the stove. Your brothers looked at you each with their own different reactions. Techno looked as stoic as ever, Wilbur eyed you with slight disapproval, and Tommy looked at you with awe and excitement. They must’ve seen your little trick through the window.
“(Y/N) THAT WAS POGGERS! YOU WERE SUCH A BADA-”
Tommy’s excited rant was cut short as he saw the stern look on Philza’s face. After a few moments of hesitation, your brothers were making small talk with each other with Philza occasionally chiming in. Poking idly at your food, you contemplated how you should go about apologizing to your dad.
You supposed that the best route you could go was telling him that you wouldn’t do that again, but you knew you would do it again. That was the biggest adrenaline rush you’ve ever gotten and you were already craving it again. You couldn’t lie to your dad, your wings always gave you away by twitching uncomfortably whenever you lied. On the other hand, telling him that you felt empty when you didn’t have adrenaline coursing through your veins was not an option. He already has enough to worry about with working to provide for four teenagers. Deciding that your best bet was to lie to him and hope for the best, you zoned back into the conversation around you. Tommy was ranting about how he had broken his favorite sword dueling Techno.
“-do you have any idea how long it took me to find that enchantment, Techno?”
Techno huffed slightly in amusement. “Actually I do because I helped you find that enchantment. We found it in the village together, remember?”
“Tommy,” Philza said tiredly, “we can get you another enchanted sword. Techno, you need to be more gentle with your little brother. You have to remember he’s three years younger than you, so he has less experience in dueling.”
Tommy grumbled to himself, busying himself with shoveling food in his mouth. Wilbur glanced at him with disgust.
“Do you have to eat like that, Tommy? It’s disgusting.”
“Well, Wilbur, it’s not my fault I’m hungry.”
“You’re eating like we don’t feed you.”
You usually enjoyed it whenever your siblings argue back and forth like this, but lately it didn’t make you feel anything. You didn’t feel much anymore if you weren’t pulling off impulsive stunts. Of course, you hid it from your family and acted like you did before. It was relatively easy since you were naturally a quiet person. You thought you were doing a great job at it, you pride yourself on your acting skills.
Dinner went by fast without anything notable happening. Since it was your night to clean up, you got to work after everyone parted ways for the night. You stacked the dishes left on the dinner table and got to work washing them. Luckily, since you lived with three teenage boys, you never had to deal with leftovers. You subconsciously stretched and twitched your wings, feeling restless without feeling the wind moving through your feathers. After you got done with putting the dishes away, you took a deep breath and set out on your search for Philza.
Walking into the living room, you saw Techno sitting near the fireplace reading one of his mythology books. “Hey, Tech. Do you know where Dad is? I need to talk to him.”
Without looking up from his book, he responded in his usual monotone voice. “Yeah, he’s up in his room. I think he’s going to bed early.” He paused for a second before looking up at you with sincerity. “You know, he was terrified when he saw you earlier. He thought that you weren’t gonna stop yourself in time. Hell, we all thought you were gonna die.”
That made you feel guilty. He already had to deal with providing and raising you four and he didn’t need anything else to worry about. You felt your wings droop slightly as you sighed.
“...Thanks, T. G’night, love you.”
You started to speed walk to Philza’s room without giving him time to respond. You needed to apologize to him and fast. Out of all your siblings, you were always the one to hate conflict and would always apologize first whenever you got into a disagreement with anyone. You were always the pacifist.
Walking past Tommy in the hallway, he tried to stop you to talk to you, but you ignored him with a dismissive wave of your wing. You heard him mumbling to himself as he started to walk down the stairs, probably to challenge Techno to a rematch. You nervously fluttered your wings, feathers occasionally brushing against the walls and causing you to shiver slightly at the small touch. Your hands were shaking slightly as you took a steadying deep breath and knocked on Philza’s door. Hearing his tired “come in”, you slowly opened his door. He situated himself so that he was sitting on the edge of his bed and gestured for you to sit next to him.
“Hey, Dad. I-I just wanted to say sorry for worrying you earlier. If I knew that it would stress you out, I wouldn’t have done it.” You sat next to him.
He sighed as he wrapped an arm across your shoulders, pulling you into his side. “I don’t care if it stressed me out. You could’ve gotten killed from a fall at that height. You could have lost a life. I don’t know what I would’ve done if you didn’t open your wings in time.”
“I know, I’m sorry.”
“Then why’d you do it if you knew that you could’ve gotten yourself killed? I just want to understand why you would pull a stunt like that, I’d never expect you out of all of your siblings to do something so dangerous.”
You took a deep breath as you contemplated your next words. You really wanted to tell him about how you felt empty without putting yourself in danger. You wanted to tell him that you didn’t feel like yourself anymore. Unconsciously, your wings started to twitch and pull themselves closer to your body.
You jumped when you felt something else wrap around you. You looked back and saw black feathers. Looking back up at your father, he looked at you with a concerned expression.
“Take a deep breath, you’re shaking hun.”
You looked down at your hands and to your surprise, they were shaking. You took a few deep breaths and clasped your hands together tightly while Philza rubbed comforting circles on your back.
“...It’s just that, I haven’t been feeling like myself lately, if that makes any sense. It’s like I can’t feel anything anymore without doing stupid things that could get me killed. It wasn’t the first time I’ve dived like that. One time I lost control and almost flew into lava-filled ravine.”
“...How long have you felt like this?”
“A few months now.”
Philza felt his heart break, how did he not notice that you were different for months? You could’ve gotten yourself hurt or permanently maimed yourself and it would’ve been his fault because he didn’t notice your mood shift.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t notice sooner.”
“It’s not your fault, Dad. I didn’t tell you anything was wrong. Please don’t blame yourself.”
“We can help you find something that’ll help you. Something less dangerous.”
“We?”
“Your brothers and I. They’ve been listening this entire time, weren’t you, boys?”
You heard shuffling and muffled voices arguing with each other before the door opened to reveal your sheepish brothers. Wordlessly, they all filed into the room. Tommy grabbed your shoulders and yanked you into a tight hug. You felt Wilbur hug your other side before he pulled Techno into the group hug also. You felt feathers tickle your cheek as Philza joined, wrapping his giant wings around you all. The family hasn’t had a group hug since you all started to hit your teenage years. For the first time in a while, you felt happy without risking your life.
After that night, you were right in your assumption that you’d be grounded (literally and metaphorically) from flying for a while while your family worked hard to find something safe that gave you a distraction. Soon, Wilbur found a book about the intricacies of redstone working and you were hooked. Sure, your family was rambunctious and a strange group, but you wouldn’t want it any other way.

Too Late
Pairing: Wanda Maximoff x fem!reader
Warnings: None, but let me know if I missed anything!
Word Count: 3.8k
Summary: In an effort to be the best girlfriend, Wanda holds in a major secret until it’s a little too late
A/N: I may have gotten a bit carried away, but Wanda is the cutest thing ever so enjoy! Also I’m now realizing this sounds angsty but I promise it’s just fluff :)
“Milaya, I’m so excited! We’re actually going! Just think, in less than an hour, we’ll be there!” You couldn’t help but laugh along with your girlfriend, who was practically bouncing off of the walls in excitement.
“Wan, we won’t be there in an hour if you don’t hurry up and eat your breakfast. C’mon, before we get yelled at.” She let you pull her into the chair next to you and reluctantly scooped up some of the eggs she had cooked onto her fork.
“Do you think the lines will be long? I really hope not, I want to try to go on all of the rides. Which ones did you say were the best again?” Your eyes widened as you swallowed, wiggling slightly in your chair.
“I really like the big roller coaster they have. It goes insanely fast and has one of the biggest drops I’ve ever seen-” You stopped yourself when you remembered that you were supposed to have been done with breakfast twenty minutes ago. “Baby, let’s finish breakfast first. We’ll discuss this in the car, okay? I promise,” you added when she pouted at you.
“Alright, but I’m holding you to it.” The two of you ate in silence, both of you trying to shovel the food down your throats as quickly as possible. As you guys finished up, Clint ran into the room, his arms full of towels.
“There you guys are! Hurry up, we’re leaving! Also, have you seen the big tote bags anywhere?”
“I saw them in the closet a few days ago,” you answered, your mouth stuffed with food as you pointed to a door in the hallway. You shook your head as you watched him dash over to the door. Laura was definitely starting to rub off on him; he was becoming a full-blown mama bear. The two of you now done eating, you grabbed the empty plates to put in the sink while your girlfriend followed closely behind you, eager to return to your earlier conversation.
“Babe, we have to go on the ferris wheel! It’ll be so romantic. Maybe at night, you know, the last thing before we leave?” Her arms slid around your waist as she rested her chin on your shoulder. “Oh, do you think we’ll have time to play those games? I’ve always wanted to win one of the little stuffed animals. Do you think I could win you one?” You brought your now empty hands down to lay against your girlfriend’s and leaned back slightly, enjoying her touch.
“Love, slow down. You keep talking that fast and you’ll pass out from the lack of oxygen. And of course we’ll have time to play the games, but we should get to the car before someone else comes to rush us.” With that, you pulled her out of the room before she could resume bombarding you with more questions.
---
After a forty-five minute car ride with a very enthusiastic Wanda and Peter—you were convinced Nat was going to let go of the wheel and throttle both of them if it lasted even a second longer—you’d arrived at the park.
“Where’s everyone else?” Peter asked, looking around for the other cars.
“I’m sure they’re here somewhere.” Before the witch could wander off to look for them, you grabbed onto her arm.
“Actually, I just texted Steve and Rhodey and they’re still ten minutes away.”
“Ten minutes?”
“Well, uh, Nat did drive a bit…” You bit your lip, afraid of offending the still-annoyed redhead.
“You know exactly why I did it, Y/N.”
“Huh? I don’t get it. Why’d she do it, Miss L/N?”
“Um, nothing, Peter. She was just excited to get here,” you explained, stifling a giggle. You did know exactly why she did it, but Wanda and Peter might not enjoy the explanation that she was trying to get away from them as quickly as possible.
“You think we can go in first and have them meet us there? I just wanna look around.” Wanda flashed you her puppy dog eyes, complete with the wobbling bottom lip, knowing that you would choose to wait for them in the parking lot if it were up to you.
“Yes. Please.” The former assassin looked like she was about to go back to her previous job as she pushed off from her spot against the car. Knowing better than to make things worse, you nodded, allowing Wanda and Peter to leave the way.
“I’m sorry about them,” you whispered to Nat, the pair now walking out of earshot from you.
“Don’t worry about it,” she glanced in their direction before continuing, “It’s actually pretty cute.” Nat smirked at the shock on your face. “Don’t you dare tell anyone, I have a reputation to uphold.”
“That’s why you looked pissed out of your mind? For your reputation?”
“Please, we both know Stark would never let me live it down if I acted the same way they did.”
“You’re insane,” you laughed, but she had a point. “You have any plans for what you wanna do today?” The redhead shrugged.
“I’ll probably go with Sam and Bucky on the thrill rides. That might get a little annoying, but it’s not like Steve’s going to come with me, the big wimp. Or maybe I can convince Pepper to leave Morgan with Tony and we could do something together.”
“You could always come with Wanda and I.”
“Eh, don’t wanna get in the way of you two lovebirds. And as cute as you guys are, I don’t need to see you guys kissing every two seconds.”
“We- we don’t do that!” you stammered, your face heating up.
“Dorogaya, come here! I wanna take a picture in front of the big sign of me kissing you on the cheek! Nat, can you take it for us?”
“You were saying?” Nat smirked, crossing her arms when you caught up to Peter and Wanda.
“Bad timing,” you grumbled, but you couldn’t help but smile when you saw Wanda bouncing on her toes, her hands clasped together in front of her chest.
“Bad timing my ass,” your friend mumbled. Before you could shoot some retort back at her, she held up the phone. “Alright, say ‘Nat’s always right!’” You settled for internally rolling your eyes at her as she took the photo, giving Wanda a kiss after the photo was taken.
“I love you,” the witch reminded you.
“I love you too. You ready for some fun?” Knowing the answer to that question, you slipped your hand in hers and began walking towards the entrance. You used your other hand for something else just as important: flipping Natasha off.
“Miss Romanoff, what’d you do?”
“Shut it, Peter,” the redhead warned him. Even though her tone was playful, you laughed as you heard Peter take a large gulp.
“Yes, ma’am.”
---
“Okay, so I was thinking we start- ahh!” If Wanda wasn’t still holding on to your hand, you would’ve completely fallen on your face when she tugged you off to the side. “Wands, what the heck was that?”
“Look, babe! It’s those game things! C’mon, I’ve gotta win you one.” You bit your lip to keep yourself from laughing and let her tug you over to the water gun game, most of the Avengers following behind you.
“Oh, you bet I’m getting in this,” Sam chuckled, rubbing his hands together before handing the attendant a crisp dollar bill. Bucky rolled his eyes but nonetheless produced a similar bill from his pocket.
“Babe, you gonna play?” You shook your head.
“I’d much rather watch you. Besides, if I play, you know those boys are gonna be some sore losers, and I don’t need to deal with that.” Wanda laughed, giving you a kiss on the cheek before she joined Sam and Bucky.
“Alright, but if I lose we need to go to another game because I need to win you something.”
“Wan, you don’t have to win me anything. We’re just here to have fun, yeah?” But your girlfriend paid no attention to you. She wrapped her hands around the handles of the gun, and her eyes narrowed as she focused on the target.
“For fun, eh?” Nat chuckled as you elbowed her.
“Shut up, she’s cute. And she means well.”
“Mhm… whipped.” As you leaned over to respond to Natasha, Sam jumped up in between you two. His arms were held up high above his head as he fist-pumped the air repeatedly.
“Take that, you two!”
“And which prize would you like, sir?” The attendant asked, their eyelids hooded and voice monotone. Obviously Sam’s excitement was not contagious. You stayed just long enough to see Sam point to a stuffed duck—”Redwing needs a friend! I’ll call him Yellowing.”—before Wanda was pulling you off to another game booth.
“C’mon, I can feel it, I got this one!” You looked hesitantly at the small pyramid of stacked milk bottles.
“Wands, I know this is your first time at an amusement park but, like, these games are usually rig-”
“Hi, I’ll take 5 rounds please.” Your eyes grew wide as you watched Wanda hand a five-dollar bill to the attendant, who handed her a bucket of fifteen balls in return.
“Wanda, these prizes are cheap, we can just-”
“Babe, I love you, but be quiet. I’m going to win you this. You like that one, right?” You followed her gaze to the stuffed dinosaur wearing a party hat and then to the sign immediately below it that stated that it was a “top-tier” prize. In other words, Wanda would have to knock down the entire pyramid of milk bottles to win.
“It’s cute, love, but-”
“Great, I’m getting it.” And with that, you sighed, crossing your arms across your chest. You knew Wanda wasn’t going to let you deter her from her goal no matter what you said, so you might as well support her.
“Alright. For good luck,” you winked before kissing her. Wanda flashed you a small grateful smile in return before turning to the bucket in front of her. You watched as her hand dipped into the bucket, pulling out a ball that she then let roll around in her palm for a moment. She grabbed her lip between her teeth, and before you could blink, she chucked it at the milk bottles. At this point, all of the Avengers had moved on to find you guys, and you couldn’t help but giggle when you noticed their astonished faces behind her. She hadn’t even knocked over any of the milk bottles—they must’ve been secured well—but, with her not being a super soldier or highly trained assassin, sometimes you guys forgot just how strong she was.
Unlike you, Wanda didn’t notice her teammates staring at her, and they didn’t make a peep, so she simply picked up the next ball and threw that one too. This time, she managed to knock one bottle down, but somehow the rest of the pyramid remained largely unaffected.
“I don’t understand why this isn’t doing more,” Wanda frowned, talking more to herself than anything. “If I was in training and these were daggers, the dummy would totally be on the ground by now.”
“You’re doing great, Wands. Besides, you still have 13 more tries. You can do it!” She turned to you, giving you a chance to admire the sparkle in her eyes.
“Thanks, printsessa. I’ll get you that dinosaur. You got a name for them yet?”
“Mm, no. Too busy being distracted by a beautiful, super badass woman.” Wanda laughed and pushed you away gently.
“Start thinking about it now.”
---
“Wanda, maybe we should call it a day…” Clint trailed off gently once Wanda had finished off the entire bucket without knocking down the pyramid. You watched as Wanda’s chest rose and fell a bit faster than usual.
“No,” she gritted out. “I’m winning that stupid dinosaur. Besides, I’ve only spent $6 so far. I’ll just do it one more time.” Getting three more balls in exchange for one dollar, Wanda clenched her jaw as she threw the ball at the pyramid. The milk bottles wobbled but didn’t fall. She tried a second—or technically seventeenth time—and they still stood firmly on the platform. Finally, with one hasty look at the attendant, who was distracted by a screaming kid nearby, you watched as her eyes flashed red as she threw the final ball, the rest of the tower immediately tumbling down upon contact with the ball. The attendant’s eyes went wide at the clatter before he grinned.
“Huh, I guess the Avengers really can do anything, can’t they? That’s the first time someone’s gotten the whole thing down in months. Alright, which one do you want?”
---
“Wanda, I thought we agreed to not using powers for stuff that’s not important,” Steve chastised your beaming girlfriend once you guys had walked out of earshot of the worker.
“But Y/N is important. She’s the most important thing in the world!” It took everything in you to not combust on the spot at your girlfriend’s words and the accompanying hand squeeze she’d given you when she said them. Steve simply sighed, rolling his eyes.
“We’ll talk about this later.”
“Oh, relax, old man,” Clint butted in. “They’re in love. Let them have this.” With the matter settled, Wanda turned to look at you.
“So, what’s the dinosaur’s name?”
“Huh?” You glanced down at the green plush in the hand that wasn’t holding Wanda’s. “Oh, um, Dino.” Wanda’s lips slowly flattened out before pursing together.
“Y/N. You had all that time to think of a good name, and you choose ‘Dino’? Babe, even Yellowing is a better name. I mean, like, not well thought-out at all, sounds more like it’s becoming yellow than having yellow wings, but at least the sentiment is there.”
“I like Dino!” You gave her a big grin as you tried to hold your laughter back. She wasn’t actually mad, but you’d be lying if you said you didn’t enjoy riling up your girlfriend at least a little bit. Before Wanda could respond, you were both pulled off to another side of the amusement park.
“C’mon, lovebirds, we’re going on the big roller coaster!”
“Alright, alright, calm down, Sammy,” you laughed, patting his hand that steered you toward the ride.
---
Luckily for you guys, Tony had splurged on fastpasses for all of you so that you wouldn’t have to wait in any ride lines. Bucky practically jumped with glee as you walked past all the other visitors. Sweat trickled down their faces; some tried in vain to fan themselves with the maps that were handed out at the park entrance, and others leaned against the railing forming the line. Some of them must’ve been waiting for at least two and a half hours.
“Hey, Tin Man, try not to laugh so hard at other people’s suffering, will ya? Not all of them have the benefit of having a very rich, very generous friend, speaking of whom, never got a thank you by the way.” Bucky simply rolled his eyes at Tony’s remark and got in line to sit with Sam.
“You ready, babe? Your first amusement park ride ever.” You squeezed Wanda’s hand gently, giving her a smile that she couldn’t help but return. You had to speak loudly in order for her to hear you over all the noise on the crowded platform, but the distractions all seemed to fade away as you focused on the twinkle in her eyes and the way her cheeks rose as she grinned.
“And the biggest one at the park.”
“And the biggest one,” you nodded.
“I’ve been ready for this all day. Hands up, right?”
“If you think you can handle it,” you winked.
“Of course I can handle it,” the witch scoffed. With that, you guys shuffled into the carts. Wanda’s knee brushed against yours as the two of you sat down and she quickly buckled herself in before turning to you. Her lips were already parted, ready to share her excitement some more, before she noticed your furrowed brows and your tongue sticking out of your mouth like you did when you were immersed in mission reports. Except this time, you were simply trying to get the belt in the buckle.
“Need some help, love?” Wanda giggled.
“It’s not working!” Your girlfriend gave you a gentle smile before taking the belt from you and sliding it into the buckle.
“There.” She brought your hand up to her lips next, looking up at you through her lashes before pressing soft kisses onto your knuckles. “Don’t wanna hurt these, yeah? Tasha would be furious.”
“Yeah, she would,” Natasha interrupted from the cart behind you. “But I thought I taught you well enough to be able to buckle yourself in, Y/N.” You felt her smirk more than you saw it, and without a full glance back at her, you brought your hand up to her forehead and flicked her before she could react.
“Taught by the best,” you laughed, lurching forward so Natasha couldn’t grab you.
“Oh, just you wait for training tomorrow,” the redhead chuckled. You didn’t pay any further attention to her as you listened to the employee telling you to push the safety bar down. Just as the carts started to move, you called Wanda’s name and gave her a quick peck on the nose before she realized what was happening. She settled for a retaliatory poke to your side, and after your giggles died down, the two of you settled into a comfortable silence, your hands intertwined and laying on the safety bar. You quickly became busy with looking out over the side of the cart, watching as all of the things that once met your eye level shrunk down to a size that was half of your pinky finger. But a harder-than-normal squeeze of your hand had you returning your focus to Wanda.
“Um, detka, is this a bad time to tell you that I’m afraid of heights?” Your heart, calm less than two seconds ago, immediately began to race. You looked ahead through your wide eyes to see that you were near the top before quickly turning back to the panicking brunette who, sure enough, had her eyes glued shut.
“Wh- what do you mean you’re afraid of heights? You literally fly!”
“Because I’m more afraid of bad guys than I am of heights!” You could feel the coaster practically slowing to a stop as you rounded the peak of the coaster.
“Okay, uh, um, just pretend there’s a bad guy? I don’t know, Wan, it’s a little late to get o-” And with that, you rocketed down towards the ground. All blood flowing to your hand was stopped in its tracks as Wanda squeezed you as hard as she could, but you barely noticed since you were forced to focus on your race to the ground instead. A scream slipped past your lips for a second, quickly becoming a laugh that you couldn’t contain no matter how hard you tried. “Isn’t this great, Wan?”
A slight turn of your head told you that, no, it was not great for Wan. Her eyes were still glued shut, her lips were pursed together so firmly they were practically white, and you could just make out the trembling of her torso. At this point, you almost couldn’t feel your left hand from how hard she was holding it, and you imagined that if the safety bar were alive, it would be feeling the same way from her left hand’s grip on it. So, even though you were moving at over 100 miles an hour, it was your turn to press your lips to the back of her hand. It was a small gesture of reassurance, but a gesture that Wanda appreciated nonetheless, especially considering there wasn’t much else you could do under the circumstances.
You were just approaching the bottom of the first hill when Wanda’s eyes shot open, taking in your gleeful face, which contrasted heavily with her own terror-filled expression.
“Is it ov-” She didn’t finish her question before her face practically closed up, but she didn’t need to finish asking it anyway. The rushing of blood to her head told her all she needed to—she was going upside down, and it certainly wasn’t over yet.
---
After what seemed like a lifetime to her and a mere five seconds to you, the ride was over, and Wanda made sure she was the first one off of it. With her feet back on solid ground, she seemed much more relaxed, but you didn’t miss the way her knees wobbled with every step she took. You linked your hand in hers once again and pulled her off to the side of the group.
“Wan, why didn’t you tell me you were afraid of heights?”
“You looked so excited talking about the ride this morning, and I didn’t want to ruin it. And we’re a couple. Everything you love, I want to love too.”
“Well did you love it?” If you weren’t holding her hand, you would’ve crossed your arms to accompany the signature raised brow you gave her in situations like these.
“No, but I loved holding your hand,” the Sokovian admitted as she kicked the ground with her boot. You couldn’t help but laugh at that, giving her a quick peck on the cheek before responding.
“Wan, you are the absolute sweetest, but, please, I don’t want to put you through anything you’re scared of. Especially if it’s not for a good reason.”
“But you’re the best reason I could ever have to do anything.” And just like that, your face felt hot enough to cook an egg on. Seeing the pout on her face, though, you quickly regained your bearings.
“Alright, you’re not allowed to be sweet anymore. My turn. Wan, I’m excited about anything I get to do with you.”
“That’s not what you were saying when I asked you to clean the kitchen with me yesterday,” Wanda grumbled, looking down at her scuffed black combat boots.
“Okay, you got me there,” you admitted, leaning over slightly to meet her soft green eyes before continuing. “In my defense, cleaning is an inherently boring thing. Amusement parks are inherently fun. So when we’re here, we only do things that are fun. Which means, if you’re scared of heights, we don’t go on stuff with heights. Like the biggest freaking roller coaster this park has.”
“Are you sure?” the witch mumbled. “I know you like those rides.”
“I’m positive.” You met her lips with yours as one last reassurance. “Now, let’s go find those tea cups. And yes,” you smiled, not even having to look over at her to know what she was thinking, “You can still hold my hand.”

“Okay here goes…” Taehyung preps himself to read the ‘Request’. “The two subjects,” He pauses, rubbing his hands dry on his sweats. “Are required to experience a first date with at least 3 romantic gestures.” He pauses again, blinks at the screen then turns to face you. “A first date? These people want us to what? Have a romantic dinner?”
“So we just have to like, have dinner together…” you begin, turning away from him to face the screen yourself, “That’s not that bad.” You admit.
“What the hell counts as a romantic gesture though?” Taehyung runs a hand through his hair as he continues to look at you. “Like, maybe I cook for you?”
“That’s not a bad idea for a romantic gesture…but that’s if you’re wanting to go through with the request…we could always check out what the penalty is…” you look at him with tired eyes and he frowns at you.
“Remember you talked about how if a request is ‘pure’ enough…” he begins, “That we could just do it. This request isn’t so bad. Let’s just do it.”
“Hm…” you look down at your feet. “But how do we split up the gestures?”
“I’ll do two and you can do one.” He offers with a strained smile, he takes a step back from you and looks all around the room, “It’ll be fine.” He assures you.
“This is so awkward.” You breathe out, then you notice more words showing up on the T.V screen.
“What’s that?” you ask, squinting your eyes. “There’s more?”
“I’ll read it…” Taehyung inches closer to the TV. “Tip:” he says, “Studies show that women are attracted to men wearing blue.” Taehyung scoffs then starts laughing.
“Well, I know what not to wear.” His eyes slide to the side to look at you and he sighs out. “Do you like blue?”
“I don’t really care.” You pinch your nose in annoyance. “We have 24 hours to do this—”
“Tonight, we can do it tonight.” He gets out in a rush, “It’s really our only opportunity for dinner, don’t you think?”
“Oh that’s true.” You huff “Fine.”
“Why are you in such a bad mood?” Taehyung eyes you, “It’s just dinner…”
“No, it’s not that…I just have no idea what to do for a romantic gesture.” You admit, feeling annoyed.
“Oh.” He starts to chuckle, “I can do all three?” he offers with a smile and you shake your head.
“No, that’s not fair.” You say. “Plus, wow…do you really have that many romantic gestures up your sleeve?”
“Something like that.” His cocky grin tells you everything you need to know. Perhaps Taehyung is quite the player in his real life?
“Let’s just meet tonight…”
“I’ll pick you up at your bedroom door once the sun starts setting.” He says and you nod your head in agreeance.
What even makes something romantic? This will probably just be like any other dinner…and for that you’re thankful. You don’t think you can handle the pressures of a real date. But you suppose you will still put some effort. How fancy does this have to be? Should you ask Taehyung?
“Um…” you bite on your lips and Taehyung looks you over, his eyes falling to your mouth as you chew on it.
“What?” he finally asks.
“How should I dress?” you gesture towards your body and Taehyung’s mouth opens to say ‘Ah’ and he nods.
“Something really nice. Maybe a dress, if you want?” he tilts his head, “I mean, I’m not trying to tell you what to wear.”
“That would be easier for me.” You laugh. “Have someone pick my outfits for me.”
“I could look in your closet—”
“I was kidding, Taehyung.”
~~~~~~~~
You stand in your closet and look at all your options—you have a lot. This place was not messing around…they must have known dates were coming because there is a variety of dresses that are quite fancy to choose from. Your fingers drag over the material of a few dresses when your hand stops on a cute black number. You take it off the hanger and push it up against your frame and eye yourself in the mirror…this is cute, really cute. You decide to try it on when your eyes widen in pleasant surprise. The dress fits perfectly—it’s smooth over your curves and has an open back. You approve.
You have been thinking all day what your romantic gesture is going to be but come up empty handed. You have absolutely no idea…you were never the romantic type exactly. Your ex wasn’t that romantic…and neither were you so it’s okay. But you don’t have too much experience in this field and you’re starting to stress out. Taehyung asked that you stay out of the kitchen while he cooks you two dinner…he wants it to be a surprise. The biggest surprise is that Taehyung is okay with all of this, that he agreed to do the request in the first place. You were sure he was going to want to check out the penalty and avoid spending any more time with you than necessary.
For the first time since being on the island you decide on wearing some makeup. Just some light foundation, mascara, and some lip stick. The look is simple yet kind of sexy—if you do say so yourself. It’s been several hours now…you walk to your window and pull back the drapes, the sun is starting to set. Taehyung should be here at any moment and you have to admit your nerves are starting to spike. But you have to remind yourself this isn’t a real date, this is just a show for the cameras. You’re basically being forced into this. Taehyung is being forced into this…you can’t help but frown. You walk back into the bathroom and look into the mirror…did you try too hard? Is this look too much? You’re about to wipe off the lipstick when you hear light knocking on your bedroom door. Welp, here goes nothing.
You stand in front of your door with the knowledge that Taehyung is just on the other side waiting for you and you feel you stomach feel all weird. You hate this. Is this just anxiety? Then there is more knocking on the door, breaking you out of your daze. You reach for the knob and turn it and begin to slowly open the door. And then you see him. Taehyung is wearing a dark long sleeve button up shirt that is tucked into his black pants…you notice how his hair is slightly parted and not as messy as usual and you internally chuckle. He looks at you with an awkward smile before he’s bringing a small “bouquet” of flowers between your bodies.
“For you.” He says.
You tilt your head to the side with a small smile and reach for the flowers and he sighs out in relief.
“Gesture number 1, complete.” He grins and you laugh.
“Where did you even get these?”
“I picked them around the island.” He admits sheepishly, “Sorry they’re all different sizes.”
Taehyung scratches the back of his neck for a few moments before motioning towards the downstairs.
“Should we go have dinner now?”
“Sure.”
You can smell food immediately as you two make your way into the kitchen, it smells delicious and is that…garlic bread you smell? God, you would kill for some garlic bread.
“What did you make?” you ask as you begin to take a seat at the dining room table.
“Actually,” Taehyung grabs you gently by the arm, “I was thinking we could eat on the patio?”
“Oh?” you rise from the seat as he guides you by the arm, “That sounds nice.”
“Wait for me here, I’ll grab the wine and glasses.” He lets go of your arm and heads to the kitchen island. He grabs the two wine glasses and the bottle and nods towards the entry way where the back door is.
You make your way out to the back when you notice the table is set up with two plates and a lit candle.
“Is this gesture number 2?” you ask, gesturing towards the table when Taehyung scoffs.
“This is hardly a romantic gesture. How low are your standards? This is just a part of the date.” He chuckles and you can’t help but feel slightly embarrassed. Are your standards low? Because this is crazy to you…this feels over the top.
“Then what’s your second gesture?”
“Always so greedy for information.” He says under his breath, “You have to wait and see.” He sets the glasses down and pours a generous amount of wine into each. Then he is pulling out your chair for you to sit, “Here.” He says. You follow his lead and sit in the chair, feeling overwhelmed with the kindness. Is this how he dates? Is this how he usually is?
“Thanks…” you mumble.
“I’ll be back with dinner.”
You watch as Taehyung heads back inside and you sigh out heavily…this is all so weird. So awkward. Why is Taehyung being so fucking civil? He hasn’t complained even once? You stare out at the pool, the water looks so fresh and cool. The sky is lit up in pinks and purples and everything feels so lovely…and nothing makes you feel more nauseous.
Finally, Taehyung makes his way back outside with a bowl of…pasta? Noodles and what seems to be chicken.
“Chicken Piccata” he states, his voice low and hesitant. “I know Italian food is very popular for dates.” He admits shyly.
“You cooked this?”
“I don’t know if it even tastes good but lets try it.” He shovels some of the pasta on to your plate and then on to his.
“It smells really good.” You notice he also brought a bowl of bread. “But I really want this.” You reach for the garlic bread with grabby hands.
“Greedy.” He mutters under his breath with a half smile. “So god damn greedy.”
Taehyung takes a seat across from you and watches you with careful eyes as you cut into the chicken and take a bite.
“Well?”
“Jesus Taehyung, maybe you really should listen to your ancestors. This is delicious,” you moan into the food and he grins excitedly.
“Really? Really?” he starts digging into his own food and groans out when he takes his first bite, “Wow, it really is good.”
“You’re surprised? You didn’t test try it?”
“You were my test subject.”
“Oh thanks.” You deadpan.
Taehyung chuckles as he takes another bite of his food, he reaches for the wine and you do the same.
“Cheers.” He says and you roll your eyes.
“What exactly are we saying cheers to?”
“…Don’t be a brat.” He warns. “Let’s just get through this.”
“Why are you taking it so seriously?” you finally ask and he releases a long breath, his eyes looking all around the backyard.
“Because we need to pass it. What if we half ass it and fail, still get hit with the penalty then the half we did try for was for nothing? Better to just go for it and make sure we pass.”
“Oh…that makes sense. I was wondering why you were being so…”
“So what?” he leans his head forward.
“Decent.” You admit. Taehyung looks at you with wide eyes then he closes them slowly.
“y/n…” he opens them and stares at you with such a serious expression. “I was going to talk about this later…but I guess I can bring it up now.”
“Bring what up?”
“I really have been wanting to talk to you but just didn’t really know how…” he admits softly, “I wanted to…I wanted to apologize. I wanted to say sorry for…”
“For?” you ask with a raised brow, waiting expectantly.
“My strategy was stupid and obviously did not work.” He continues, “We have been here a little over two months, right? I don’t think they’re giving up on us.” he says awkwardly.
“But,” he looks at you seriously again, “I’m still not going to like, fall in love with you or anything but I can see us…getting along.” He says between soft breaths. “I won’t be avoiding you anymore is basically what I am saying.”
“You don’t have to constantly remind me of that, I get it. And same goes for you.”
“I’m tired of forcing myself…I just want to be normal.”
“Normal?”
“I’ve been such an ass to you…” his lips curve downwards and you feel your heart pinch in your chest.
“Yeah, you have.”
“You haven’t been the nicest all the time either though.” He reminds you and you feel yourself grow red.
“Fine, maybe not.”
“But I know that’s my fault.” He takes a sip of his wine, the drink leaving a purple tint to his lips. “I’m not usually like that…it’s just…it’s just—”
“I know.” You bring your own wine to your mouth and gulp down the glass. “We are in a tense situation, everyone reacts differently. I wasn’t the most mature either…”
“I wasn’t the most mature either,” Taehyung mocks, “Yeah, no shit.” He says and you rolls your eyes to the back of your head.
“I get it, you think I am a brat.”
“Because you are.” He deadpans. You two stare at one another before you are both breaking into a grin, laughter leaving your lips.
“I think we could get along.” Taehyung admits. “In a totally platonic way, of course.”
“Of course.” You assure him, going in for more of your pasta. “But what makes you think we can get along?”
“y/n…” he rolls his eyes, “Don’t act like you don’t think you could get along with me.” He smirks. “I know you want to get to know me more for starters.”
You blush at his statement, you twirl your fork in the noodles and take a bite.
“That’s normal.” You say. “We live together, of course I want to know you more.”
“Little bit little.” Taehyung promises. “Let’s eat.”
You two make small talk while eating your dinner and drinking your wine. You observe Taehyung as you two sit at this table, he smiles a lot more and laughs a lot more. The way he speaks…you realize he is a lot more innocent than you first imagined.
“And when I got the flowers I low key felt bad because what if they die so soon? I should have left them, shouldn’t I have?” he pouts and you laugh at his dramatics and he continues, “But I thought it would be considered romantic.” His light blush doesn’t go unnoticed by you.
“We can try to keep them alive as long as possible.” You promise with a slur. Taehyung quirks a brow at you, a face full of amusement as he eyes you over.
“Tipsy already?” he asks, a dark chuckle escaping his lips. “Let’s do the second gesture before you’re drunk.”
“What’s the second gesture?” you question and he stands up from his chair and extends his hand out for you to grab.
“Come with me.”
“What about our dishes?”
“I’ll come back for them later.”
You grab onto his large hand and he holds on to yours tightly as he helps you stand up, then you are quickly letting go. He leads you back inside into the living room and you stand here awkwardly as he messes with the vinyl.
“We’re going to listen to some music?” you ask and Taehyung glances your way and offers you a soft smile.
“Sort of.”
“Sort of?”
Then he’s got some slow, jazzy song playing in the background. He walks towards you and offers you his hand again.
“We’re going to dance.” He says, his voice soft and low like a hum. “Take my hand,”
“What? No way!” you shake your head and he chuckles, “I don’t like to dance!” you take a step back from him.
“You barely have to do anything, just move side to side.” He looks at you, clearly amused once again.
“This is so embarrassing.”
“Pretend they aren’t watching.”
“Even if no one else was watching I would still be embarrassed.” You set your lips into a straight line, “This is so awkward.”
“Just take my hand and follow my lead.”
You give Taehyung a look of defeat before you’re taking his hand…you grab onto it and Taehyung closes his hand around yours firmly as he guides you to the center of the living room. He hesitantly pulls you in closer, your feet clumsily moving towards him.
“You can come closer you know?” Taehyung smirks. You look up at him with doe eyes and he softens just the slightest. “Come closer.” He softly commands, pulling your body even closer to his.
His other hand travels to your bare back, his fingers sliding delicately over your skin and you close your eyes at the contact.
“By the way…Uh, never mind.” Taehyung shakes his head with an awkward smile.
“What?”
“No, nothing.”
“Just tell me, would you?”
“This dress is really nice.” He breathes out, his hand finally settling on the small of your back.
“I thought so too.” You look up at him and he narrows his eyes at you.
“Say thank you.” He pulls you in a little closer, swaying you to the lovely music.
“Fine, thank you.” You tilt your head up more to get a better look at him, “Your outfit is nice too?”
“That’s a question?” he laughs, “You are the worst on dates.”
“It’s not like this is a real date.” You whisper and he rolls his eyes.
“So you’re saying you’re usually better at this?”
“No comment.” You playfully remark, “Is dating like your specialty?”
“Not really, but I try.” He leans his head down. “Do you think I’m good at it?” “No comment.” You say and Taehyung chuckles into your neck, his breaths hitting your sensitive skin. He lifts his head back up and stares into your eyes for a few moments, his gaze lingering for far too long.
“What?” you break contact, looking to the side.
“You’re wearing makeup.”
“Should I not have?”
“No, it looks nice. Different.” He admits, “It’s the first time, right?”
“Yeah.”
Taehyung’s fingers glide up your back, he feels how soft your skin is as he stares down at you with his intense gaze.
“Do you like backless clothing?” you blurt out and Taehyung’s eyes expand in surprise, he’s immediately bringing his hand back down to your waist and clears his throat awkwardly.
“Why? Why do you ask that?”
“You keep feeling my skin.” You tell him shamelessly. “Not that it isn’t nice but it’s a little weird don’t you think?” you chuckle and he starts to turn a lovely shade of pink.
“Sorry, I didn’t mean to. I did it mindlessly.” He chokes out and you laugh.
“It’s okay.” You lean up, surprising Taehyung…he starts to panic as he feels you get closer and closer. You peck his cheek, leaving such warmth behind as you lean away from him again.
“What—what was that for?”
“My romantic gesture.” A sly smile plays at your lips, “I couldn’t think of anything else, sorry.”
Taehyung lets go of your hand and takes a step away from you, he hates the blush that creeps on his cheeks, turning him into a tomato.
“So we did all three gestures then?” he asks shyly.
“I guess that means the date can end…” you look at him with a smile. “Goodnight Tae—”
“I won’t be avoiding you anymore.” He cuts you off, “We can hang out whenever.”
“Oh?”
“I’m serious about what I said earlier, I really am sorry.”
“I believe you Taehyung.” You say softly and he can’t help the smile that adorns his face.
“It’s still early…we can play a game or something?”
“How about we start with cleaning up?” you offer, gesturing towards the back. “Our dishes are still out there.”
“Right.”
~~~~~~
You and Taehyung sit on the living room sofa, he on one end and you on the other. You’re still wearing your fancy clothes and makeup, not wanting to completely waste the look. Taehyung is playing some game while you have your book in your hands, you’re barely paying attention to your book as Taehyung yells at the screen. There’s been no sign that you two passed the request or not. Do they not consider the date over? Your mind races…what if you two failed? You admit your gesture was kind of lame…but you truly could not think of anything else. What if it doesn’t count? But man, many things Taehyung did could count as gestures…the meal he cooked, the lit up candle, pulling out your chair…
You watch Taehyung as he plays his game, he’s concentrating so hard it makes you a little soft. He’s like an excited kid…a good look on him, you admit. Is this how he normally is? The bits and pieces you’ve seen of him where he’s kind and playful. Is that the real Taehyung? But you’ve learned first dates don’t reveal how a person really is.
“Come on, let me take you out.” He keeps coming to your desk to pester you as you grin down at the work in front of you.
“I told you no though.” You keep your eyes on your computer screen. “Like, 5 times already.”
“y/n.” he whines, “I know you want to.”
He’s not wrong…you’ve definitely thought about it the last few weeks…but you know, you really know it is not the wisest thing.
“I won’t tell anyone if you won’t.” he lightly teases, “Just one date. If you decide it’s not for you then I promise to leave you alone about it—”
“Good morning sir! I’ll have the report for you by noon.” Layla comes up to him with a smile on her face, she looks between you two and nods.
“Sounds good, thanks Layla.” He stiffens as he speaks.
You know getting involved with someone from work is probably a mistake…but your boss?
Layla nods again and walks off towards her own desk and he relaxes just a bit.
“One date, y/n.” he whispers.
“Fine, just one.” You finally give in, you can’t help the smile that graces your features.
“Great.” He breathes out, “I’ll contact you later.” He leans away from your desk and walks back to his office.
You feel the giddiness in your body rise…it’s been a while since you’ve gone on a date and he’s always been so sweet to you. Hopefully it goes well.
You sit on the sofa, anxiety starting to fill you up. Your breaths become a bit heavier as you stare down at your book and you feel your eyes gloss over. You hate this. You hate thinking about him—remembering him. It brings you down so much that it just hurts.
“Hey…” You hear Taehyung’s voice cut through your thoughts, “You okay?”
You were so lost in your own world you forgot about Taehyung and how he is sitting two feet away from you.
“Yeah,” you sigh out, “fine.”
“You sound…” he bites on his bottom lip, contemplating what to say. “Okay, if you say so. Want to play a game with me?”
“Honestly, I think I’ll get ready for bed.”
“I was thinking we can finally watch that movie…” Taehyung offers, “Or we can watch a different movie.”
“Sorry Taehyung, but I think I’ll go to bed.” You close your book and stand to your feet, the blanket falling off your body. You turn to face him and offer him an apologetic smile and begin to head upstairs. Taehyung hears your light footsteps travel up the stairs and then he’s hearing the soft click of your bedroom door closing. He sighs out heavily. Maybe this was too much for you? Are you overwhelmed?
Taehyung pauses his game, his grip tightening on the controller. Maybe he was previously too much of an asshole to you that you can’t see him any other way now. He would really hate that…he wants to not just be civil with you, but he wants to get along. You two are stuck together, might as well become something like friends.
He leans back on the sofa and groans out in subtle frustration. He doesn’t want to be frustrated…it’s not like he’s frustrated at you but more like this whole day. Did he do too much? He’s starting to feel bad…you don’t seem to use to romance. You must be overwhelmed and it’s most definitely his fault. Maybe he should talk to you? Apologize? Yes, that’s what he’s going to do.
Taehyung sits up from leaning on the couch and decides that’s exactly what he’s going to do. He’s going to go upstairs and tell you he’s sorry, he didn’t mean to freak you out, so on and so forth. He stands from the couch and makes his way upstairs until he’s knocking on your door. He knocks a few times waiting patiently but you don’t come to the door. He decides to knock again and again and again. He’s starting to wonder if you’re okay? Is it alright if he just walks in? He wants to know if you’re fine. You could be crying? You looked pretty choked up on the couch and he felt his heart drop at the sight. Last thing he wants is to make a girl cry.
So, Taehyung does what any normal human being would do—he barges in the room. There’s no sign of you in the bedroom but he does notice the bathroom door mostly closed, only left open a crack. He hears you humming one of his made up tunes and he can’t help but smile. He walks towards the bathroom door and begins to creep it open when he sees you through the crack…his pupils blow out at the sight. You’re wearing nothing but some lacey light pinky panties with a bra to match as you stare at yourself in the mirror, removing your make up. His eyes drag down the curves of your body, stopping every few moments to soak you in. He’s seen you in a bikini so this isn’t any different—so he keeps trying to tell himself. But the lace is almost see through and it has been a while since Taehyung has seen a sight like this.
He blinks at you, gulping down his spit and about to make his presence known when he realizes he looks like a peeping tom. Fuck. He doesn’t know what to do, he’s frozen here just staring at you. His eyes travel up your body until he’s staring at your face and unfortunately, very, very unfortunately, your eyes meet his in the mirror.
“Taehyung?” you whisper then your eyes turn into saucers. “What the hell!” you grab a t shirt from the counter and slip it over your body and walk towards the bathroom door. You swing it open and look at him expectantly.
“Want to tell me why the hell you’re watching me when I’m not wearing any clothes?”
Taehyung gulps again, feeling caught red handed. His blush is unimaginably rosy right now, he begins to stutter out a few words but ultimately can’t find the right ones to speak. He shamelessly skims your body again… the t shirt doing very little to hide your pink lacey panties and Taehyung feels himself grow warmer at the sight.
“I was just…” he clears his throat, calming himself down. “I wanted to make sure you were okay.” He states firmly while still growing redder and redder.
“You couldn’t have knocked? Or like announced your presence?”
“I tried.” He defends weakly. “You didn’t answer.”
“Oh.” You sigh out, “Sorry, I’ve just been in my head I guess.”
“I wanted to say sorry…”
“You’ve already apologized plenty of times, Taehyung.”
“No, for tonight. Was it too much?”
“No…” you walk a bit closer to him, “It was nice actually.” You admit. “I’m sorry you were forced to do something like that for me.” The guilt in your voice doesn’t go unnoticed by Taehyung and his lips curve downwards.
“No one forced me to do anything.”
“You wouldn’t have done it if it weren’t for that request.” You bite, “So yeah you were forced.”
Taehyung glances down at your exposed thighs, his eyes lingering on your skin and you start to feel a bit insecure under his gaze.
“I should find some shorts.” You awkwardly chuckle. “hold on.” You turn around and start to walk towards the closet. Taehyung’s eyes slide down to your ass as you walk quite slowly. He watches how your panties ride up between your cheeks and his blush deepens. Fuck, he needs to be careful where his eyes end up.
You walk back out wearing yoga pants and Taehyung sighs in relief. But he also feels disappointed because—no, he will not have these types of thoughts.
“So, are you okay?” Taehyung awkwardly swings his arms back and forth as he waits for an answer.
“Yeah, I’m fine.”
“Great. I’ll leave you alone now.” Taehyung says, he begins to walk backwards until his legs hit the bed. You walk forward until you’re standing in front of him and he swallows down the lump in his throat.
“Try to wear clothes from now on.” He gestures towards your body with a soft smirk, he’s trying his hardest to play it cool.
“Why?” you take a step forward, “Does it cause you trouble?”
“Nah” he says cooly, “But you want these cameras zooming in on your ass?”
“There’s no cameras in here, remember?”
“As far as we know.” Taehyung rolls his eyes. “Still, you should be careful.”
“Yes sir.” You reply and he quirks a brow in amusement. “Oh?” you take another step towards him. “Please tell me that isn’t a kink of yours.”
“And if it is?”
“Good thing I’ll never find out.” You motion your hand towards your bedroom door, signaling for him to leave.
“Right.” He smirks at you, leaving you feeling strange. “Well, goodnight y/n.” he steps closer to you, his eyes boring into yours. You breathe in and out, waiting for him to turn and leave but he continues to stare into your eyes making you feel breathless.
“What?” you finally ask, your tone soft and shy.
“Pink looks good on you.” He whispers and you freeze. He smirks down at you and turns to face the bedroom door.
Taehyung makes his way out of the room and heads back downstairs. He finds himself sitting on the sofa with his head in his hands…the memory of your ass imprinted in his mind. Suddenly, the TV turns white causing Taehyung to look up.
“PASS” written on the screen and Taehyung darkly chuckles.
“Of course.”
~~~~~~~
The switch in Taehyung’s demeanor is strange to you at first. He’s still a smart ass though and loves to annoy you. But he’s mostly kind and playful. You’re the only one who is still awkward and defensive, you hate to admit it.
“My god, woman.” Taehyung groans, “Just open the door and let me see.”
“No, I look horrible!” you yell out, “I’m wearing a hat until it grows back!”
“Just let me see.” He says with a strict voice, and you hesitantly begin to open the door and he’s facing you. You see his lips twist into a troubled smile.
“Oh my god. So it does look that bad.”
Taehyung starts busting out laughing, his laughter rumbles throughout the whole house.
“No!” he rushes to get out, “Okay, maybe a little.” He continues to laugh.
“Fuck my life.” You throw your head back and Taehyung pushes his way through the bathroom.
“I’ll fix it for you.” He offers.
“You’d probably fuck it up more.”
“Notice my hair? It looks decent right? I do it myself.” He gushes over his own abilities.
“I guess that’s true…”
“Let me do it for you.” He says more softly. “Don’t be a fucking brat.”
“Stop calling me a brat.” You pout and he pats the top of your head.
“No.” he says with a grin and you roll your eyes.
“Fine, fix it.”
Taehyung beams at you and grabs the scissors.
“This is basically a trust exercise.” Taehyung points out, “Bonding.”
“This isn’t how I want to bond. Can’t we bond like normal people?”
“Nothing about our situation is normal.” He deadpans, “Plus, this is fun.”
“For you.” You grumble.
“Yeah. Maybe. Don’t be a baby.”
“I’d rather be a baby than a brat.”
“Baby y/n.” he coos, and you swat his arm. “Hey!” he laughs out. “Be nice to your hairdresser.”
“Too bad the company can’t see us in here.” Taehyung comments.
“Why?”
“They don’t see us bonding or ‘undoubtedly falling in love’ as they would say. You know just two soulmates cutting hair”
“How can you joke so easily now?” you frown.
“Coping mechanism.” Taehyung shoots you some finger guns. “does it make you uncomfortable?”
“Not really.”
“Sweet.”
“Hey Taehyung?”
“Yeah?”
“Thanks for being yourself. I feel more at ease now.” You admit, you look up into his eyes and inch a little closer to him. Taehyung nods his head, taking a deep breath as he inches closer to you as well.
“You just thanked me for being…me?” he whispers.
“Yeah.” You clear your throat. “You know, unlike that asshole persona you had going.”
“I don’t think it was a total persona…I think I really was being an asshole.” He admits, closing his eyes. “I’m really sorry.” He opens his eyes again and looks at you.
“We’re in this together, you know?”
“Yeah, I know.”
“What if we faked it?” you whisper so fucking quietly he almost doesn’t hear you.
“Faked it?” he whispers back.
“Fake fall in love with me…in front of the cameras.” You say in a hushed tone, stepping closer to him. “I’ll fake fall in love with you in return. We get sent home. Bam.”
Taehyung narrows his eyes at you then scoffs,
“You think they would really buy that? Plus no offense, something tells me you’re a horrible actress.”
“I’ll have you know I am great at pretend.” You stick your nose in the air. “What do we have to lose?”
“Our dignity.” He says with a straight face. “I don’t know, y/n…”
“Give it a chance, would ya?” you frown, “it might get the requests off our backs for a while…it might not be good enough to get sent home…but I’m trying Taehyung.”
Taehyung sighs out, he can tell you really are trying. More than he currently is…you are right. You guys need a plan, sitting around all day is getting you two nowhere.
“How do we convince them?” he finally asks, his voice low.
“You’re considering it?” you ask, surprised.
“Yes.”
“Okay, I don’t know.” You admit. “We can start with some innocent flirting. Then eventually move on to sweet gestures…then pet names…then…I don’t know,” you slide your eyes to the side.
“You do know. Continue.”
“We could try being affectionate. You know, eventually. I’m not saying we do anything crazy!” you throw your hands up. “But god, this is awkward.”
“Okay…I’m listening.” Taehyung whispers, “Let’s just start easy. I can flirt. But can you?”
“I’ll have you know I am quite good at acting.” You groan.
“Prove it to me. Right now.” He steps closer to you and you feel yourself blush at the close contact.
“What’s the point? Just wait…”
“No, I’m testing you.” He admits, “I want to know you can really do this.”
You take a deep breath, your big, doe eyes narrowing at him as you step closer, your face tilting up in his space. Your fingers crawl up his chest until they’re gripping the collar of his shirt. Taehyung doesn’t seem too bothered though, he just stares into your eyes.
“How badly do you want to test me?” you ask.
He gazes into your dark eyes, he allows the moments tension to build.
“Pretty badly.” He admits, licking his drying lips.
You lean up until your lips graze the shell of his ear and he gulps, “Come test me in there.” You nod towards your bedroom and Taehyung starts to feel the heat creep up on his cheeks. There’s no way you’re making him feel flustered. Maybe your ass, but not you.
“No?” You lean away from him, loosening your grip on his shirt. “Didn’t thinks so. Don’t test me Taehyung.” You take a few steps backward and grin at him.
“How was I?” you ask, folding your arms across your chest.
“Fine.” He mumbles.
~~~~~~
Month: 3
Today is a beautiful day like many of the days you’ve seen here, but you rarely go out and enjoy them. That should change. So yes, it’s a warm and sunny day, the crash of waves sounds so inviting. And you want to experience it.
“Wanna lay on the beach today?” you are laying across the sofa with your feet put up over the top.
“Why do that when we can,” Taehyung pauses, focusing on his game. You watch as he desperately pushes against the same few buttons. “Shit!”
You roll your eyes, “Come on! We need some vitamin D!”
Taehyung’s hand freezes, he turns to face you with a smirk playing at his lips. God, you know where this is going. He’s so predictable.
“You need some D?” There it is. “y/n…I told you we aren’t like th—” you kick his shoulder with your foot. Taehyung chuckles to himself, “Okay okay fine. We can get some sun, enjoy the scenery blah blah blah”
Feeling pleased, you stand from your spot on the couch. “Great! I’ll go get dressed, you do the same okay?”
“Kay” he replies back lazily, still working his fingers on the controller. You roll your eyes again as you head upstairs.
You make your way to the kitchen when you spot Taehyung standing by the back door. He’s wearing a pair of dark blue swim trunks and a towel draped over his right arm. He’s already so tan, and his body is so…Fuck, it’s annoying how hot he is. Being friends—can you say that? Friends? Well, being friends with him is easy, but the easiest thing to do when it comes to Taehyung is looking at him. Def easy on the eyes. He’s swaying back and forth out of boredom you assume, whistling some made up tune. He’s really getting into it before you interrupt him with the clearing of your throat.
You stand here awkwardly, dressed in a simple black bikini. You have your towel held over your stomach. You notice Taehyung’s eyes widen just the slightest once he spots you. He has one of the most intimidating gazes you’ve ever seen so him staring at you makes you feel even more self-conscious than you already are. He shamelessly eyes you over. God damn it, why does he have to be so obvious? You know it’s to show the cameras he has a growing interest in you. But still, it makes you feel flustered.
“W-Well, let’s go.” you whisper. Why the fuck did you have to sound so breathless, oh my god you are so pathetic.
He smiles and nods his head towards the door, “Yeah, let’s go!”
The last month you and Taehyung have spent every day together…from gaming, to watching shows and movies to watching him paint…god, you even work out together. You two have no doubt crossed over to the friendship realm but things are still a bit awkward every now and then. Like, your god damn hormones wont chill out sometimes. It’s not like you view Taehyung that way but you do have eyes.
Wow, when you say the weather is something else. The sky is a dreamy shade of blue with a few marshmallow clouds painted on. The breeze that escapes the sea rushes through you, reminding you that you are alive. The sand beneath you is warm, the water that greets you is cool. It’s as perfect as perfect gets.
Taehyung and you lay out your towels over the grainy sandy, feeling satisfied with how soft the ground feels beneath you. You two lay out for about an hour in comfortable silence, just enjoying the weather and you know, one another’s company. Or whatever.
“Totally worth coming out, right?” You are rested on your tummy, your arms crossed underneath your head.
“It feels amaaaazing.” Taehyung mirrors your position, his head facing yours.
You decide to finally do it. You are going to ask the question. Just do it y/n. Say it now bitch…’Where are you from?’ it’s that easy, come on.
“Do you live by a beach?” Okay. Close enough.
“There’s some nearby.” Taehyung replies nonchalantly. Oh, you guess it wasn’t a big deal after all.
“I see…” You squint and raise your brows urging him to tell you more. He doesn’t.
“What about you?”
“I don’t live anywhere near a beach…it’s a far drive at least.”
A few moments of silence pass between you two. You watch as Taehyung chews on the inside of his mouth watching you. Then you close your eyes, feeling the breeze.
“Korea”
“Huh?”
“That’s where I’m from.” Taehyung says carefully.
“Cool,” I open my eyes. Then you open them a little wider.
“Well, I kind of figured…” you admit, “Your name.”
“Yeah. What about you? Where are you from?”
“(Where you’re from)”
“Nice…I wonder how they found us and matched us…”
“Yeah…” you open your eyes and take a look at him, “What do you do in Korea?”
“I was going to school.” Taehyung blinks slowly at you.
“Was?…What did you go to school for?” You ask, your curiosity obvious.
Taehyung tenses a bit before letting out a long sigh.
“Haaaa, business.”
Taehyung? In business? That seems hard to believe. Aren’t the business type more stiff and uptight? Or do you watch too many dramas?
“You don’t really strike me as the business type,” you finally say before he’s cutting you off.
“That’s because I’m not. I…”
“What?”
Taehyung looks at you cautiously then rolls his eyes. “Ah, fuck it, I have no shame. I dropped out.” He states matter of fact.
“You dropped—”
“Yup, I wanted to prioritize myself and my happiness, you know?” His eyes find yours. “My dad wanted me to go for business and eventually take over his company,” Taehyung breathes out, defeated.
“Tae…” you reach over to squeeze his forearm. Wait, is that weird? Your hand lingers on his skin. “So then, what do you do?” you rush to bring your hand back to your own body.
Taehyung’s face lights up just a bit at your question. He looks happier, his cheeks turning a nice shade of pink.
“I quit school to pursue making music.” He admits softly. Ah, that’s why. His answer warms your insides. You love seeing him so passionate about his music, he has every right to be. He spends a lot of time in his little music studio, he hasn’t shown you any of his songs yet but you know they mean a lot to him.
“I have a few friends where I live that are in the scene and they helped me a lot…I’ve sold some songs actually,” his smile begins growing as he talks. He speaks fondly over his friends and his music but then his face falls.
“I know what you’re thinking though,” his dark eyes look into yours, “That like, how could I make a living this way…its unstable...and—”
You push your head back in disbelief. “Taehyung, that’s not at all what I’m thinking?” you pinch your brows together, “I know you’ve only known me for a little while but do I really seem like that type of person who would think that?” you laugh bitterly, “I wish you would show me a song but I’ll just have to trust you that it’s good.” Taehyung can’t help but smile at that.
“How can I trust you? I just met you?” Taehyung mocks you from the time you first met and you turn pink.
“Well, I know you a little better now…” you continue to blush.
Taehyung looks at you for a moment, his smile growing wider and wider.
“Just a little?” He finally asks, his tone softer than the clouds in the sky. You only nod, a smile shining his way.
“What about you?” he asks excited. “What do you do?” He’s scooting closer to you, thrilled like an adorable child.
The smile you are wearing begins to fade, never leaving a trace of joy.
“Umm.” you flip to your back, fingers playing at your tummy.
Taehyung senses your shift in mood and turns to lay on his back as well, “Oh…we don’t have to talk about it, I guess.” He offers.
“No, no. You opened up to me so I—"
“So you don’t have to do anything.” He states firmly.
“And if I want to?”
“Then I am all ears.” He smiles cheekily.
You reach over for your bottle of water, taking a few generous sips. Opening up is a bit hard for you, you mean damn, you can’t do it all! Sue you, you got issues. It’s not that you don’t want to open up to Taehyung—you do, you really do. You want to know the person you are living with, and vise versa. But it’s more like…you are embarrassed.
“I live with my parents.” you finally admit.
“Wait…is that what you’re ashamed of?” Taehyung asks with a puzzled look on his face.
“No, not exactly. It’s the reason why and how.
“So, then tell me why and how—if you want, of course.”
You look up at the clouds in the sky, they truly are the perfect shaped clouds, the type a child draws on a piece of paper. You squint at the sun, letting its warmth wash over you. Your eyes begin to gloss over…just a little bit. You’re not that big of a baby. Or maybe you are.
You move to lay on your side, staring directly at Taehyung. Still squinting, as if he is the sun trying to blind you.
“At my old job,” you begin, your voice small. “I got involved with someone. My last boyfriend.” You pause, recalling the memories. “Ugh, I am going to seem so pathetic.” you laugh, ashamed of yourself.
“Only pathetic thing about you is your Mario Kart places.” He teases. “But other than that you’re not pathetic, whatever it is.” He assures you. He turns to lay on his side as well, one hand holding up his head.
“Ha-ha. But no, I really am…or was. He was my boss. He started pursuing me out of nowhere and I knew, I promise I knew that it was unprofessional. But I guess somehow get won me over.” Your eyes dart all around the beach. “He got me.”
Taehyung is listening to you intently, waiting for you to continue.
“Well, I fell in love. Like an idiot. And I wanted to go public with our relationship, so I told a few coworkers. Like an idiot.”
“And then?”
“And then…he got so angry at me. Told everyone I was delusional. Called me a liar, told everyone that I came on to him. And—”
“What a fucking dick.” Taehyung looks at you incredulously, “You’re telling me, he came on to you then totally twisted it and betrayed you?”
“He…he filed an official complaint against me. Got me fired.” you try your hardest to blink back tears that threaten to bubble over and fall.
Taehyung quickly sits up, sitting with his legs crossed. “I’m sorry he—he got you… he got you fired?” Taehyung looks peeved to say the least.
“Ah,” you sniffle, using the back of your hand to clear away any stray tears that may or may not have fallen. “It’s in the past now. I had to move back home and basically start fresh, you know?”
Taehyung’s face is stoic. His lips set in a firm line and his brows set in an angry V.
“How long ago?” he finally speaks after a long moment of just staring at you.
“Just a few months.” To some that may seem like a long time, but the wound is still very fresh.
“Do you…” Taehyung bites at his bottom lip, “Do you still love him? I mean, did you love him?”
Your mouth falls open, then closes, then opens again.
“So you do?” he looks disappointed.
“No! Of course not! I mean, I did. I think I did.” You sit up too, crossing your legs out in front of you. “Maybe I didn’t.” you say quietly. “I think I don’t know what love is. But it hurt like I was in love.” Well shit, this just turned a whole lot deeper than you planned on.
Taehyung just nods in agreement not knowing what to say, you guess, you don’t blame him. Taehyung continues to just look at you, like he feels something for you. And you know what that something is—pity.
“It’s not pity, you know.” Shit, did you say that thought out loud?
“What?” you respond.
“It’s just…I wish that didn’t happen to you. This world is full of assholes y/n, no one’s safe from them. Especially not good people like you.”
“Thanks Taehyung…”
“And as far as not knowing what love is…I think you’ll know when you know. That’s what they say right?” he chuckles darkly. “You’ll have some awesome, epic love story I bet.” He finally smiles. “Because you deserve it.”
“How do you know, you barely know me?” you tease.
“I’ve been stuck with the same one person every day for like 3 months, I know you enough to know if you’re a good person. And you are.”
Your heart soars at his observation of you.
“You’re kind of a baby sometimes and you are the world’s biggest brat but still, I approve.” Taehyung leans forward with his head in his hands. “y/n’s a good person.”
Your breathing picks up a little at his words, they rush through your veins. Each and every word becomes one with your body and you ache for more. You smile for him, but it’s an awkward one and you hope to God he doesn’t notice.
“Coolio.” Why the fuck did you say ‘Coolio’? What is wrong with you for Christs sake. “Uh, anyway…” you rise to your feet, gathering your towel and bottled water. “That’s enough Vitamin D for one day!
Taehyung is still seated in his spot, just staring up at you with his gaze that drives you nuts.
“Taehyung?”
“Huh? Yeah?” He snaps out of his weird daze.
“Wanna head home?”
Taehyung rolls his eyes at you, “We’re calling it ‘home’ now?” he raises a single brow.
“Don’t be annoying.” You extend your hand for him to take, which he does. He’s standing to his feet, he has a few inches over you. You decide they’re a little intimidating after all.
~~~~~~
“What the hell did we do to deserve this?” Taehyung screams out, his loud voice booming throughout the house.
“Didn’t we just have a request not that long ago?” you question with a frown.
“It’s because you suck at flirting.” He whispers in your ear. “They aren’t buying it.”
“Maybe it’s you who sucks.” You whisper back.
“Oh baby, it’s not me. I’m not the problem.”
“Whatever, what does it say?”
“Must snuggle on the couch while holding hands while watching a romantic movie.” He scoffs, “What a childish request.” He says.
“We should be thankful it’s as childish as this.” You point out.
“What? Did you think it was going to say ‘The two subjects gotta fuck on the couch.’ Hm?” Taehyung laughs bitterly, and you roll your eyes.
“What’s the penalty?” you ask, curious.
“Does it matter? We got this.” He runs a hand through his messy hair.
You look at Taehyung, worry written all over your face.
“Wait what does the text say at the bottom of the screen?” you point towards the Tv where small letters grace the bright screen.
“Fact:” Taehyung begins reading, “Oxytocin is sometimes called the ‘love hormone’—you often have more of it in your blood if you cuddle with your partner a lot.” He gulps, “They really want to move this along, huh?”
“They said we have 24 hours to complete a ‘Request’ right? Should we do it—”
“—Tonight. Let’s just do it later tonight. I’ll leave choosing the movie to you.”
~~~~~~~
There was a storm earlier today, but it has relaxed a bit. Soft rain glides down the windows, every now and then flashes of lightning paints bright bolts against the black canvas sky. It’s calm enough to give you a sense of peace…despite your current position. You’re not one to get nervous…at least you don’t think you are. Shit, do you even know yourself? Anyway, back to your nerves. You are currently sitting shoulder to shoulder with Taehyung on the sofa, you are facing the TV with your fingers interlocked resting on top of his thighs. His thick, meaty thighs. Neither of you say a word while the movie plays—the Titanic. An honestly horrible choice. Your choice. See, this is why you don’t like to make decisions, because when you do they usually suck.
“Do you think this counts as snuggling? We are just sitting shoulder to shoulder…” you speak up, hating how your voice comes out a tad bit shaky.
“I told you this wouldn’t count as snuggling.” He huffs out, “You need to get closer to me, touch me more.”
“All the sudden I don’t remember how to cuddle with another person.” You say quickly and Taehyung looks at you with a mischievous glint in his eye.
“When’s the last time you cuddled with someone?”
“Somehow I don’t think that’s any of your business.” You say with a sharp tone. “Okay, would if I like, lay my head on your shoulder?”
“You’re so awkward. Here,” Taehyung detangles his fingers from yours and wraps his arm around your waist, pulling you closer to his body, your legs almost overlapping his. In fact, he takes one of your legs and drapes it over his thigh, then he’s bringing his arm back to his front and grabbing your hand again. He places your hands on top of your thigh, and interlocks his fingers with yours once again.
“Now we look closer.” He says nonchalantly. “And yeah, put your head on my shoulder…get comfortable. Might as well, because you chose the longest fucking movie.”
“Sorry.” You say, you look up at him and eye him carefully. He’s wearing a plain t shirt and some dark sweat pants…his hair is still kind of wet from his shower and the closer you lean into him the more you can smell him. He smells so good. Like, his soap and something else, something deep and natural. It’s filling your senses, causing you to feel slightly lightheaded.
You catch Taehyung looking at you from the corner of his eye and you quickly jerk your head back towards the direction of the TV. Shit. When will this movie end?
“I said you can lay on me…” Taehyung whispers. “We want to make sure we pass this ‘Request.’”
“Right…” you lay your head down on his shoulder, sinking a little lower into the sofa as you get comfortable. Snuggling and holding hands is hardly an issue…you’re an adult. But being watched in this situation feels odd as hell.
“What’s his face is such a dick.” Taehyung lazily comments, pulling you out of your thoughts. He seems somewhat invested in the movie, unlike yourself. God, it’s just you right? You’re the only one feeling nervous. You’re pathetic. It’s like he doesn’t even feel your hand in his, as he is so easily distracted by the damn characters in the movie.
Taehyung then begins to you are assuming, mindlessly, stroke his thumb over yours, still commenting on how Rose should kick Cal’s ass. You go rigid in his grasp but Taehyung doesn’t seem to notice. In fact, this dude just continues to play with your fingers like it’s the most natural thing to do! But then you realize maybe he’s doing it for the cameras? Yes, your nerves are fucking spiking. Your heart is literally on the brink of exploding out of your chest. Yet, you remain calm. And things proceed smoothly. But then the dreaded, yes dreaded, car sex scene comes rolling on screen and you want to die. It’s not even a particularly sexy scene but still, it’s enough to fill the room with tension. But maybe you are imagining it.
“This is so awkward.” Taehyung quietly cries, “I hate this.”
Are you imagining the sweat that’s pooling in Taehyung’s hand, or maybe it’s your own palm that’s suddenly drenched. You can admit, it’s…been a while since, you know. Rose and Jack begin to kiss passionately and you groan, you want this to end. Taehyung stares at the screen, licking his dry lips as he watches the movie.
“Tell me when it’s over.” You bury your face in Taehyung’s shoulder and he laughs.
“What are you 5? Can’t handle a little movie sex?” he chuckles, “Are you not a fan of car sex or what?” he asks and you lift your head up in shock. He did not just ask that.
“What?” he feigns innocence, “You’re the one always trying to get to know each other.” He points out with a sly grin.
“I don’t ask you about your sex life! Just stuff like what you like to do for fun!”
“What if that answer is ‘sex’?” he smirks down at you and you feel yourself grow warm.
“Oh my god, Taehyung.” You hit his leg, “Three months with you and you’re finally starting to show your true colors. Typical man.” You scoff and Taehyung bursts out into his deep laughter.
“Typical man? You mean typical human being? Women like sex just as much. I mean, take Rose here for example. She really seems to be enjoying herself.”
“When will this movie end?” you whine, “I’m tired of holding your sweaty hand.”
Taehyung blushes, feeling a little embarrassed by your statement.
“I thought it was your hand that’s sweaty…” he admits, “Sorry, if it’s me.”
“This position isn’t very comfortable.” You say, struggling to find a nice spot. “Maybe we can try something else?”
“Like what? There’s not much we can do sitting down.”
“Maybe we can lay?” you suggest shyly. “But how do we lay comfortably while holding hands.” you realize. “Ugh.”
“Here.” Taehyung detangles your fingers and moves your leg off of him, “Lay on my lap, like lay your head down. And then this arm can hang over your waist while this hand holds your hand.”
You listen to what he says, following his instructions. You lift your legs up on the couch and lay you head down in his lap…careful of where you lay it. You get comfortable and nod your head, waiting for him to interlock his fingers with yours once again.
“Umm, my other hand will be at your waist, is that okay?”
“Yeah, that’s fine.”
Taehyung hesitantly drapes his arm over your waist, his fingers brushing against your skin where your shirt his ridden up. You tense when you feel his fingers accidently touch your bare skin.
“Sorry.” Taehyung gulps. You use your other arm to bring the shirt back down, his eyes following your movements.
“I wish this wasn’t so awkward.” You admit.
You hear Taehyung release a long breath.
“Awkward because it’s with me or because we’re being watched?” he asks quietly.
“Can I say both?” you breathe out.
“Yeah…” Taehyung gives your hand a light squeeze.
Finally, the movie starts coming to an end. You sigh out in relief, you can finally move on with your lame life. The screen goes white again and after a moment the word ‘PASS’ is shown across. You both relax at the sight.
You continue to sit here, his hand loosening in your grip. You get the hint and let go of his hand altogether, trying not to get all awkward. But fuck, you are awkward as hell. Jesus Christ, help you. Taehyung just stares down at you and then suddenly breaks into a grin,
“We did it!” He reaches for your hand, holds it up and high fives himself with it. You look up into his crescent eyes and shyly smile at him.
“Yeah…” You breathe out, you both stand up.
“Don’t act like you didn’t love being snuggled up with me.” He winks and you scoff.
“You wish.”
“Maybe a little.” He admits, he reaches down and grabs a hold of your hand again. “You can hold my hand whenever you want.” He says and you go red.
“Chill.” You awkwardly chuckle.
Taehyung laughs too, but he doesn’t let go of you.
“Can I hug you y/n?” he suddenly blurts out. “You know, for the sake of human contact?” he saves.
“W-What? Why?”
“I just told you why.” He says with his lips in a firm line. “Please.”
“Fine, get it over with.”
Taehyung grins down at you with an evil glint in his eye as his hands travel to your back. He pulls you in to his chest, your body awkwardly stumbling forward.
“Relax.” Taehyung whispers.
His arms wrap around your waist and you finally return the hug. He somehow pulls you in even closer, your boobs smooshing up against his chest. He groans when he feels your soft breasts against his hard chest and you wish you didn’t hear it.
“I said relax.” He commands in his deep voice.
You release a shaky breath and try to relax in his arms but you’re still tense.
“I’m trying.” You whisper and he chuckles.
He pulls back from you, just until his face is only inches from yours and he gazes into your eyes, his stare dark and intense that you visibly shudder and he chuckles.
“I can think of a few ways to relax you.” He licks his lips with a smirk.
“H-How?” you ask breathlessly.
“Mm,” he looks up and then his eyes are meeting your again. “What comes to mind first?” his whisper hits your parted lips. “Anything you need from me?”
You feel you heart start racing, his words going straight to places you would rather not say.
“I know what you need, baby.” He groans out. He leans in closer until you can feel his breath hit your skin, “A fucking….......drink.” He grins, leaning away from you.
You choke on your spit, you begin awkwardly coughing and he laughs at you. He lets go of your body and starts walking towards the kitchen.
Holy hell, you think. Can you survive Taehyung’s flirting? Your ass thought he was saying you needed a fucking! He is the ultimate tease, you’re gathering that much.
“Yeah,” you clear your throat. “I could use a fucking drink.”

Tony helping you open up and learn to love again:
It wasnt that you didn’t want someone to love you
You did but it was both the fear of letting someone in and the fear of not being accepted for who you were that scared you
You met Tony by chance
He was giving a talk at your school and when you rivaled nearly everything he said from the back of the class room of course he was going to notice you
Your hand went up again. How many times were you going to correct him? “Actually Mr stark you forgot to carry the 2 so if you actually went through with that there would be a power outage in about 3 hours after turning the system on” you were right, you wished you hadn’t said anything though as you felt 30 pairs of eyes pierce through your skull. “Well done” breathing in and letting it go slowly, was it disappointment? Shock? Did you just make someone you had idolised hate you? The fear and dread of a thousand possibilities came flooding through you all at once like a raging flood. So you did what you knew to do, grabbed your bag and left the classroom.
He took note of this but carried on with what he was doing
After the lecture he was given a tour around the school and decided to ask about you and give you the opportunity to intern at Stark industries
“So that Y/n kid, what’s their deal?” Tony asked eyes searching the many pictures and posters that adorned the walls of your school, “y/n is a gifted and kind student but doesn’t really open up to the other students. If you’re thinking of letting them intern for you I would tell you that there would be no better person to have then them, it might even help them learn to open up a bit more” consider you he would however it wasn’t just for your mind it was the way you looked at the ground when you spoke and flinched when waiting for his answer as if waiting for approval on the decision you made. He knew how that felt.
So after the letter came through your door telling you that you had been picked for a 6 week intern at Stark Industries helping out in the lab with Tony himself you couldn’t believe it
Maybe you hadn’t messed up
After that your days in the lab were spent with Tony trying to get you to open up and interact
However it was harder than it looked, not like he was the type to give up
“So y/n” tony said as he tightened one of the bolts on the new project you had both started “what do you like to do when you’re not being held hostage in here with me?” the mans attempt at a joke did make you chuckle but you didn’t really know how to answer “what do you think I do?” it sounded more like a deflection than an answer and in a way it probably was but you were giving him an opportunity to talk to you and of course he was going to gobble it straight up like a kid with his favourite sweet “I don’t know stare solemnly at the wall, reading, if you’re feeling adventures maybe answer questions about yourself” you knew the man meant it as a joke by the way he laughed at the end but to you it was like he was saying you were to closed up and he didn’t like it. So kuching yourself out of your comfort zone you went ahead and said “well actually I like to listen to music, sometimes I even shut my eyes and just dance, well more like jump, around my room” okay that was not what he was expecting to hear so he stopped his wire cutting to look you in the eyes and carry on talking
He learnt more about you in that hour then he ever had
And so he carried on chipping away at the walls you had built up around you heart
That’s how you ended up there that morning
In Tony's lounge at 3am eating coco pops and sharing secrets
“Biggest fear, go” you asked giggling as he tried to shovel down his cereal so he could answer your question “spiders, hands down” you could see him resel with the temptation to say something else as you laughed at The Mighty Iron Man's fear of the eight legged creatures “or not being able to safe everyone, what about you kid” that was enough to get you to stop laughing and now the man had shared that you felt the need to say something. Putting down your spoon, with a sad smile you said “being loved, before you say anything I know how that sounds but it’s terrifying. Love is so painful but yet all people seem to see are valentine chocolates and love hearts. How many times have you loved something so hard then when it was taking away you felt yourself turn into a shell of a person because you put everything into this one thing? All your hope, happiness and love in this one thing and then poof gone” the man seemed to ponder on this for a minute “poof” he muttered “kid that’s no way to live. Even if love does hurt you can’t refuse to open yourself up to it. Yes when the thing goes poof it hurts but then you find a new thing that gives you the same feeling and you grow from the pain. I mean look how far you’ve gone” you took another bite and swallowed, he had a point “I just don’t think I am willing to admit to myself that love isn’t a bad thing” he understood that “well start with something small, you don't have to say it to someone just let them know you enjoy their time or spend more time doing what makes you happy” he collected your now empty bowl and put them into the dishwasher “now you head to the guest room and get some sleep” as he walked past you he ruffled your hair and smiled. 1 little action is all it took to make you realise maybe you were readier than you thought “Hey Tony” he turned around to face you “I appreciate what you have done for me” he smiled “love you too kid”
and you were okay with that

okayyy so i had something heavier/hurt-comforty in the works as a gapfiller about mickey processing (bc we all need that!!!) but this fluffy little 3+1 about ian and mickey singing to each other happened instead— i hope u enjoy💞
a 3+1 of 3 times ian sang to mickey, and one time mickey sang to ian (to give context to the absolutely wild 11x09 serenade)
also the biggest shoutout to @southside-forever’s 80s gallavich playlist which has SO many bops and inspired bits of this😌
--
1.
Mickey didn’t really know when it all started— Ian was always fucking humming these days, always whistling or singing some tune under his breath when he came out of the shower. He was more buoyant recently, lighter— the security gig was going well, and these days it felt like something looming and heavy had lifted, releasing the crooked hunch out of Ian’s shoulders that had taken root the sour morning weeks before as he shoveled Fruit Loops and Jameson into his mouth. Since then, it felt like he and Ian were finally on the same goddamn page for once— like they had a purpose, like they were moving forward.
Or at least, moving forward on the weekdays— but today was a slow, lazy Saturday, and Mickey was still laying in bed in a tank top and boxers, sweaty and entangled in the crumpled sheets, laying back with his head on the pillow and playing some overly-gory sharpshooter game on his phone. He’d been trying to beat this fucking level a million times, but his thumb couldn’t move quickly enough at the pivotal moment when he had to shoot a bunch of enemy forces— he’d been at the game for a good half hour, since when Ian had sleepily stumbled off of the mattress sporting a full bedhead to go take a shower, and Mickey was starting to get a tinny, sharp headache from staring at his phone screen for too long. He was just starting to consider getting up, to peel off his sweaty tank top and head downstairs to grab some coffee— when Ian came into the room from his shower, a fraying towel wrapped around his lower half and his torso slick with excess water droplets. Mickey flickered his eyes up from his game for a moment, taking an… appreciative glance, and then quickly focused his attention back on his pixelated mission as Ian stood in front of the dresser in the cramped bedroom, and started to rustle through the drawers for a t-shirt.
Mickey maneuvered his buff video game avatar through a minefield, biting his lip in concentration— when his sharp focus was suddenly infiltrated by Ian, singing under his breath in an airy tone.
“Ooooooh we’re halfway there.”
Mickey gritted his teeth slightly and tried to pour all his attention into the pivotal moment of the level, but half of his mind was being pulled to listen to Ian’s gravelly voice, continuing to softly murmur to himself in a tone that was ridiculously off-key.
“She says we’ve gotta hoooold on, to what we’ve got—”
Mickey’s phone screen flickered. GAME OVER.
Mickey wanted to throw his phone at the fucking wall. He inhaled, then pressed “Start Game” again, one last time— and again, his focus was disrupted by Ian, singing under his breath as he pulled on his jeans and gently pattered his hands in a rhythm on the top of the dresser— which was endearing and sappy as fuck, sure, but it was not helping Mickey with the task at hand. Mickey puffed out a sharp, frustrated breath, keeping his eyes on his phone screen.
“The fuck are you singing for right now?”
Ian suddenly gave a sheepish smile over his shoulder as he rifled through their sock drawer, like he’d been caught in the middle of doing something wrong.
“Don’t know. Song was just stuck in my head I guess.”
Mickey glared at Ian, pressing his thumb to the screen to pause his game. “Cut that shit out.”
Ian rolled his eyes fondly, sitting on the edge of the mattress to pull on his socks. “You should be thanking me for serenading you with your fucking eighties dad music. I could be singing Carly Rae Jepson right now, or some other pop bullshit that you hate.”
Mickey felt an involuntary, amused smirk split onto his face, and he tried to turn it into a scowl. Fucking adorable motherfucker.
“Okay, tough guy. If anything you should be thanking me for cleansing your ears from the techno garbage that you used to listen to.”
Ian gave a soft smile, shoulders turning fully towards Mickey now that he’d finished pulling on his socks— and then he turned and clambered into the bed, hovering above Mickey and causing Mickey’s fingers to go slack around his phone case. Mickey could smell the warm, freshly-showered scent of him, all cheap bar soap and Old Spice deodorant, and felt the soft press of his t-shirt through Mickey’s thin tank top— an overly worn t-shirt, one of Mickey’s, that stretched just a little too tight over Ian’s torso.
Ian looked down at Mickey, fucking beaming for some reason, his eyes light. He swooped down, pressing a soft, quick kiss above Mickey’s eyebrow. And then—
“Take my haaaand, we’ll make it I sweeear”
Mickey felt an involuntary, uncomfortable chuckle bubble up out of his ribcage. Was Ian fucking… singing? To him? It definitely seemed like it. And as much as he didn’t want it to, because this was fucking sappy and ridiculous and… well, gay— Mickey couldn’t help the fact that his husband leaning over him, breathily singing the tune of one of their goddamn wedding songs in his husky tone-deaf voice, made Mickey’s blood run a little bit hotter; which was bullshit, because absolutely nothing about this should be hot, and it was probably the most disgustingly married thing that Mickey could think of— but apparently everything about Ian, every dorky and fucking god-awful cringey thing that he did, was a turn-on, or at least according to Mickey’s thudding heartbeat and sweaty palms right now.
Ian’s face was still hovering centimeters above his, his eyebrows raised triumphantly and sporting a sappy fucking grin, like he knew how affected Mickey was by this, no matter how much Mickey grumbled and complained and tried to hide it.
Mickey rolled his eyes. “You’re fucking soft, Gallagher.”
Ian just leaned down again, kissing up the slope of Mickey’s neck and biting at his earlobe—and, okay, maybe Mickey could get behind Ian’s singing after all.
 2.
Ian’s singing was starting to get fucking ridiculous— and as much as it made something deep inside Mickey feel a light pang of relief, to see Ian being his old bubbly self again in the rhythms of routine and held by the safety net of financial stability because of the security gig that made the air between them less stale, it also meant that they were also around each other pretty much 24/7, and Ian’s serenades were starting to get relentless.
While they pretty much had a common ground in liking nostalgic 80s music, they would still inevitably argue about what music to play in the ambulance every morning— and whatever shitty album they eventually chose to put on, whether it was Ian’s pop garbage of Mickey’s mellower 80s tunes, Ian’s brain would apparently absorb all the songs like a fucking sponge and he’d start singing them all day long—in the kitchen, in the shower, even when they were just laying in bed on their phones and Ian would constantly hum absentmindedly.
Today they were driving to some bougie dispensary in Glencoe, near a bunch of ridiculous mansions on the very outskirts of the city, and it was Ian’s turn to pick the music— Mickey usually elected one of the well-loved CDs that he’d jammed into the glove compartment as they were refurbishing the ambulance, CDs that he’d kept since he was a kid when he piled them high in the corner of his grimy room next to a half-broken boombox— but as much as they were Mickey’s comfort CDs, Ian could only listen to Bon Jovi so many times before he started to slander 80s music as a collective genre.
“Can we just listen to something by someone who isn’t older than us, just this once?”
“Easy for you to say, Gallagher. At least the music that I like has fucking words.”
When it was Ian’s turn to pick the music, he usually picked more modern stuff with heavy beats and a thrumming bass (though more often than not he also appeased Mickey’s tastes with some “80s throwback” playlist he’d found on Spotify that he’d noticed Mickey would bob his head along to)—but on longer drives, like this one, it was easy to butt heads about the soundtrack. Ian had allowed Mickey to play through one of his Queen CDs that morning, and then Ian had put on some whiny indie bullshit from a playlist on his phone for the other half of the drive— now they were heading home after a long day, with the stereo turned low to a local radio station.
They’d settled into a comfortable silence, as they often did at the end of the day when their energy faded— Ian had stopped pattering his hands on the steering wheel like he usually did when he was amped up and buzzing with energy in the mornings, and Mickey could tell they were both ready to collapse onto the couch the second they set foot in the door.
Mickey blew out a deflated breath and reached to turn up the radio, tuning in to some middle-aged host with a cheery voice chattering about the heat wave in Chicago that upcoming weekend—and then the airwaves went silent, and there was the overdramatic sound of a slamming door and a gospel choir.
Ian’s ears nearly fucking perked up at the sound as the opening chords began.
“Life is a mystery… Everyone must stand alone…”
Ian immediately raised his voice to join in, the tired slouch leaving his shoulders.
“I hear you call my naaaame”
He turned to Mickey and pointed overdramatically, causing Mickey to shove his arm away but unable to quell the overly fond grin that he knew was blooming on his face.
“And it feels like… home.”
The beat dropped, rolling into the chorus, and Ian energetically drummed his hands against the steering wheel once more.
“C’mon, Mick!” Ian laughed, throwing his head back dramatically as he sang while still trying to keep his eyes on the road.
“When you call my name, it’s like a little prayer, I’m down on my knees, I wanna take you there.” Ian’s pitchiness clashed with the melody, but he was too focused on singing and bopping side to side in this seat to really care.
Mickey rolled his eyes, his lips still turned upwards at the corners while he watched his absolute dork of a husband jamming to Madonna. “Isn’t this song about giving someone a blowjob or some shit?”
Ian gave an easygoing laugh. “Technically, yes. And it’s also definitionally a gay anthem, which means you have to sing with me.”
Mickey scoffed and flipped Ian off. “Fuck off.”
Ian raised a playful eyebrow, and continued to sing with relentless eye contact:
“It’s like a dreeeeam, no end and no beginning”
Mickey felt heat rise into his cheeks against his will. No fucking way was he going to sing a Madonna song about a blowjob stone-cold sober at 2pm on a Tuesday while driving home from work with his fucking husband—which, wow, that was probably the gayest sentence that had ever crossed Mickey’s mind in his 26 years of existence (which was definitely saying a lot).
This wasn’t ever a place Mickey thought he’d be in— sitting beside Ian so comfortably, singing fucking songs while they drove home from their daily commute; getting to soak up all the warmth, all the brightness that had always radiated out of Ian so intensely that it nearly blinded him, a warmth that he’d always wanted to lean in closer to even when they were just scrawny kids in a shitty neighborhood still figuring everything out.
Maybe, just maybe— it was okay to lean in a little more.
By the time the chorus rolled around the third time, Mickey was begrudgingly humming along, like he usually did whenever the songs that Ian was singing on and endless loop got stuck in his own head and popped up while he was brushing his teeth or making toast for breakfast— by the time the final rhythmic chorus faded to silence on the radio waves, Mickey glanced over at Ian, singing at the top of his lungs, face slightly flushed and grinning ear to ear.
“Just like a prayer, your voice can take me there.”

Ian and Mickey were walking down the moonlit sidewalk, veering back home after an evening at Lip’s— the night had honestly been weirdly enjoyable, which was definitely a welcome reprieve from all of Lip and Debbie’s intense back-and-forths about the house over the past few weeks. Tami and Lip had needed to go over to Brad and Cami’s for some bullshit crisis management about the stolen bikes, and Ian had readily agreed to watch Freddie— which meant that whether he liked it or not, Mickey had spent his Friday evening at Lip’s half-packed apartment watching Ian coo over a one-year-old, which was… not a totally unwelcome sight.
Trying to keep his shit together, Mickey had snapped a picture to send to the Gallagher family group chat, and everyone had immediately given them shit about being so eager to babysit and get their hands on a toddler like a couple of baby-crazed newlyweds—which had caused Mickey to start overzealously complaining in the groupchat to compensate while Ian occupied Freddie. Kev had noticed the texts and swung by Lip and Tami’s house after closing the Alibi to keep the two of them company, bringing by a pack of beers—and now he and Ian were warm and happily buzzed, relieved of their babysitting duties and walking the chilly city streets back towards the Gallagher house.
Halfway through the walk Ian had interlaced their fingers, and now their arms were swinging slightly as they turned the final corner to walk down the last stretch of pavement towards the chain-link fence—when suddenly, Ian stopped cold a few houses away from the Gallagher front porch. He looked down at Mickey, raising their entangled hands and pressing a kiss to the inside of Mickey’s wrist.
Mickey raised an eyebrow in confusion, and Ian just looked back at him—his cheeks glowing pink from the few beers, his eyes light and unguarded under the streetlamps.
“This spot reminded me of something.”
Mickey rolled his eyes. Of fucking course it did. Ian was a sappy motherfucker on the best of days, but with a couple of beers in him he was practically uncontrollable.
“What?”
All of a sudden Ian let go of his hand, punching into the air dramatically.
“Cause love is a battlefiiiield”
Mickey laughed, feeling warm hot blood rush to his cheeks in delight—and fuck, he loved his husband so goddamn much. And just this once, mostly because of the own alcohol running thick in his bloodstream, Mickey made the lurching decision to join in, stepping closer towards Ian and raising his hands equally as dramatically.
“No promises, no demands”
“Woooooah”
Ian had practically doubled over with laughter, tears welling in the corner of his eyes—and Mickey let himself get lost in it, the warm feeling buzzing through his body, of love and joy and fuck knows what else, getting to sing on a fucking street corner with his husband a decade after everything had gone so gut-wrenchingly wrong, leaving him bleeding on this same pavement.
They stumbled over their own feet up the stairs, fumbling out of their clothes and collapsing into bed—and later, just as Mickey was on the brink of fading into unconsciousness, Ian mumbled the same refrain into the crook of Mickey’s neck in a sleepy voice, like the song was still stuck in his head and he just couldn’t help it.
“Love is a battlefield.”
4.
It was late— it was one of those slow, tender nights when the past was hanging heavy over them, laying pressed together in bed as thin streams of moonlight poured in through the blinds, pressing whispers into each other’s skin about all of the hurt and the doubt that had been seeped up and healed with time.
Ian was sprawled back on the bed and Mickey was laying with his head resting on his chest, feeling his ribcage expand and contract each time he took a breath. They’d absorbed so much the past few weeks— the sick, twisted blows of a loss that felt all the more jagged and painful because of how muddled the grief for Terry was—but after a few days had passed they’d found a place to settle, in the comforting press of the silence in their bedroom.
Mickey was mindlessly playing with Ian’s fingers, listening to his steady breathing—and without thinking, he ran a finger over the cool silver of Ian’s wedding band, letting out a breathy chuckle.
“I still can’t believe we’re married sometimes, man.”
Mickey could feel Ian’s lips curve upward into a smile from where his mouth was pressed against the top of Mickey’s head.
“Yeah, me either.”
And Mickey felt something bubbling, something welling— and he didn’t ever fucking sing, not unless Ian made him, but Ian was always fucking dropping song lines into sappy moments like this.
So he took a breath, and, half-singing but mostly talking, in a way that sounded almost mocking if it wasn’t so soft around the edges, he let out into the dark silence of the room:
“At last….”
He wasn’t even singing, not really—he was just sort of… saying the words in a singsongy way, but he knew that Ian could tell what he was doing, what he was trying to do. He was trying to be as fucking sweet and soft and pliant as Ian was, as Ian always was in moments like this, in a way that sometimes made Mickey feel brittle and hard in comparison. This time, Mickey wanted to breathe out the love he had for him into this moment, the love that made his ribcage feel like it was going to fucking burst— a love that he felt erupting outwards when Ian had played this song for him for the first time a few weeks before the wedding, and had asked with a shy smile, “D’you think it’d be okay if you walked down the aisle to this song?”
Ian’s chest shook with laughter, and he carded a hand through Mickey’s hair. And then, in his gentle, sleep-soft voice, in a breathy tone that tickled the shell of Mickey’s ear:
“My looove has come along”
Mickey rolled his eyes fondly, just to prove something to himself, even though he knew Ian couldn’t see him—and then he reached a hand upward and leaned back, drawing Ian’s chin forward to press his lips to his for a brief, lingering moment.
Mickey settled back against Ian’s chest again, and felt Ian press a kiss to the top of his head. He smiled contentedly, closing his heavy eyelids.
Maybe being a couple of sappy motherfuckers wasn’t so bad.

The Bigger the Pen
"Welcome everyone to our new event, an eating contest bigger than we have ever done before!"
Ever since you heard the story of the person who ate themselves to extreme obesity at this restaurant you had to come here yourself and try one of their challenges.  This one was between 3 people to see who could grow the biggest.  Since that night it's been kind of a tourist attraction for feedists and gainers alike.  Tonight you're going to eat until you're bigger than either of your competitors.
You sit at the large table in-between the two other competitors.  You all are waiting for it to be time to begin.  To your left a woman wearing a crop top and shorts.  To your right a man in a button up shirt and jeans.  You hear the sound of a mic turn on, it must be time.
"Thank you ladies and gentlemen for coming to 'The Pig's Pen' tonight!  Welcome to our competitors tonight!  The rules are simple, just eat until you can't stop!  After finishing your plate more food will be taken out for you. Whoever puts on the most weight wins!  We will keep the food to quick and easy to eat items so you can keep plowing through with ease!"
Several servers come out bringing 3 plates of boneless wings to us easily with 50 wings on each.
"Now before we start please drink the drink by each out you.  It will help you go 100%!  On the buzzer we you may start!"
You take the drink.  Hear the buzz.  Time to start.
You start grabbing wings.  One at a time you make your way through the plate.  As you finish the plate you’re surprised how fast you ate them and how you don't feel full at all.  You take a quick look at your opposition and both of them are well into their second plates.  Wow they're fast.  It's not a speed contest but you can't believe how fast both of them are.  You keep eating away through the wings starting to feel your stomach grow.  As you eat your last few you hear a huge burp to your left and look at the woman who finished her wings.  Her stomach starting to press against her shorts and a little bit of sauce on her cheek.  You continued on finishing your wings.  After the last wing you check to your right and see the man has already started his next set of plates.  Loaded fires, covered in cheese, bacon, and sour cream.  He has put on a little too, stomach straining his shirts button.  Waiters bring you your fries and you turn back to start them.  You start grabbing them several at a time.  They taste amazing.  As you shovel away each bit of the pile of fries you feel yourself growing bigger.  The shirt you’re wearing now starting to ride up, pants straining even more.  You hear a pop to your right and see a button missing from the man's shirt.  Soon after a few more mouthful the rest of his buttons fly off his clothes like a chain reaction.  He lets out a burp, probably from the sudden shift of his stomach being free from his clothes.  You look back at your fries and dive back in.  You want to win this contest, but more importantly you want to grow.  You want to become a big mound of fat that just eats and eats, ever expanding.  After seeing that you are determined that you will end up bigger than both of them.
You finish up the fries and look to see how you other two are faring.  The woman's stomach is really testing the button on those shorts and the crop top now is now starting to tear.  You are about to look away when her shorts explode open, stomach now flopping onto her thighs.  You look to the man, his stomach bulging out even more looking huge.  That's when you realize, regardless of who's on top in the end, you're just happy to be with two other people like yourself who love to eat and grow fat.  All three of you are now done with the fries.  The next course is yet to come out.  Then you see 3 tall cakes start to approach the table.  There has to be at least 7 layers to this cake.  You look at the cake thinking of how to start eating it.  Without thinking you get up, grab 2 handfuls off the top, and jam them into your mouth.  The other two look at you and follow suit.  You just keep going, getting cake and icing all over your hands and mouth.  More so than before you feel yourself blowing up.  Arms getting chubbier, legs getting extra thick, stomach ballooning out.  The woman to your left grows rapidly as well.  Her crop top soon explodes off of her.  Her hips widening and her butt desperately wanting to escape the shorts.  The man on the right also going through the same.  His shirt starting to tear apart, arms ripping trough the fabric of his sleeves letting his flabby arms become free.  His stomach growing until it reaches the table looking like a huge beer belly.  You keep going, layer by layer.  You want to get to the bottom of the cake before the others.  You finally get to the last layer.  You grab the whole thing taking big bites one at a time.  After finishing it you collapse back in your chair and hear a big creek come from it.  A big belch leaves your mouth as you rub your huge stomach.  This all feels amazing.  You see that the others have finished too. Then you look up as you see something descending towards to you.
"Wow!  You all have eaten so much so far!  Now for a speed round so to speak.  To wash everything all down we have the finest milkshake in the restaurant!  Just keep drinking from the funnel until you can't contain any more! This is the final stretch!"
Finally you’re starting to feel a bit full, but you can't stop until you're the biggest one here.  You grab the funnel and are ready.  You hear another buzz and the shake begins to flow through the tube.  You start drinking the shake and immediately feel it hit you.  Your body growing slowly but constantly.  Shirt rips off of your expanding body  You feel your thighs starting to strain your pants.  Not long after they begin to tear apart, freeing your legs.  The other contestants' clothes soon follow suit.  Before you sat down you put on their underwear that they make.  You heard how they stretch to fit you and now see it first hand.  Growing bigger and bigger your stomach getting closer to the table.  Just then the man on your right pulls out the tube and lets out a long belch.  He's done.  Now it's you and the woman.  You’re starting to feel at your limit.  Stomach close to the floor, you don't know how much you can drink.  At that moment you now hear a burp from your left.  She's now done too but she still looks bigger than you.  You can't stop until you’re the fattest here.  You keep going.  You won't stop.  Your stomach will hit the floor.  You keep drinking the shake. Gulp by gulp you need to keep going. Suddenly you feel it.  Your stomach hits the floor.  You let the tube out of your mouth, letting out a big burp is celebration.  You feel a little shaking from below before you chair gives out.  Crashing into the floor a Shockwave goes through the stage.  You can't believe how massive you got, the others too.  Your bodies transformed into big balls of lard.
The buzzer goes off again.  "That's it!  We have a winner!  Congratulations!"  You’re overjoyed, but because of your massive girth you don't know how to get up.  All you can do is lie on the floor letting out burps to relieve some of the pressure.
"Omg you did *baaarp* amazing!" the woman said.
"Yeah, *urp* both of you got so much bigger than me," the man said.
This was an eating competition like no other you've seen.  After all this one thing is sure, you think you found your new best feeder friends.

Beach day with Stevie 😍
im so sorry this took me so long to write
hope you like it!
beach day
warnings: none
word count: 1.4k
“Let’s go let’s go let’s go!” Stevie yelled, running down the hallway to the kitchen.
“We’re coming we’re coming we’re coming!” Harry yelled back, matching the two year old’s energy. He grabbed her as she ran past, lifting her high in the air. She squealed with laughter, kicking her legs as she looked down at him
“Put me down, we have to go!”
“Hm... I don’t think so,” Harry smiled, lifting her onto his shoulders. “Let’s go like this! What do you think?” He turned to look at you.
“How will you drive?” You asked. “We can just open the sunroof and Stevie can stay on my shoulders. Right?” He looked up at her.
“Right!” “I don’t think so,” you laughed. “Put her down so she can get her sand toys.”
Harry obliged, crouching down carefully to let Stevie back to the ground.
“I think she might be excited to go to the beach,” you grinned as you watched her run off.
“Really? I couldn’t tell,” he laughed. “Do we have everything else?”
“I think so,” you said, mentally going through your checklist. “I already put the towels in the car and the snacks are in the cooler here.”
He nodded, picking up the cooler and bringing it over to the door just as Stevie ran back in, carrying a bucket full of cups and molds and shovels.
“Ready?” You asked.
She nodded excitedly, holding out her arms for you to pick her up. You carried her out to the car, buckling her seatbelt before you got in your seat. You took Harry’s hand once he settled on a radio station, and away you went.
“We’re that couple,” you mused, looking at your intertwined hands.
“What couple?”
“That annoying couple that everyone hates because they’re so in love with each other.”
“Hm... I like being that couple,” he smiled.
“Me too.”
-----
“Do you see the water, Stevie?” You pointed out your window toward the ocean.
 “We’re almost there!” She clapped excitedly.
“We are,” Harry nodded. “We are going to build the biggest sand castle ever.”
“No way,” Stevie’s jaw dropped.
“Yes way,” Harry said very seriously. “It’s going to be the coolest thing you’ve ever seen.
-----
”Harry didn’t lie. He was really good at building sand castles. You weren’t sure how he did it, but the thing was as tall as Stevie and it had only been half an hour.
“What, you thought I was bluffing?” He grinned when he saw the surprised look on your face.
“No, just exaggerating,” you smiled.
“Rude,” he huffed, splashing some water at you.
“Hey,” you protested, raising your arms to splash him back. He was quick to run away and scoop Stevie into his arms, using her as a shield. She screamed, laughing and squirming to get away.
“Oh come on, you’re using our child as a human shield, that’s not fair,” you laughed.
“You can’t catch us!” He yelled, lifting her higher as he ran down the beach away from you.
-----
“Come on Stevie, help me bury him,” you said, scooping sand onto Harry’s legs.
 “Why are we burying me again?” He asked, wiggling his toes.
“You were mean to mommy,” Stevie explained in a very matter of fact voice.
“Oh. I’m sorry,” he smiled sweetly.
“Nope, you can’t get out of this,” you smiled back just as sweet. “This is what happens when you dump a full bucket of water on me.”
“It was not a full bucket of water, it was half at most.”
“Stevie?” You turned to her.
“It was full,” she nodded, piling more sand on top of him.
“See,” you smirked at him.
“She’s only agreeing because that means she gets to keep burying me!”
“Hm. Tragic.”
He rolled his eyes playfully. “Alright, that’s enough of that,” he groaned as he lifted his legs out of the sand.
“No!” Stevie yelled, frantically trying to move it back on top of him. He was faster than her, standing up and brushing the sand out of her hands. He picked her up, copying the pout on her face when she looked at him. She couldn’t stay grumpy for too long with that ridiculous look on his face, and soon she was giggling again. You reached for your phone, snapping an adorable picture of them with huge smiles on their faces. Stevie had sand all over her, and Harry’s hair was wild from the water. They had never looked more perfect.
“Mind if I post this?” You asked, tilting the phone to show Harry.
“Go for it,” he smiled, bouncing Stevie a bit.
“What now?”
“To the water!” She yelled, pointing to the waves.
“To the water!” He agreed, taking off in a run as she laughed. You set your phone down, following them. Harry had put Stevie down and they were holding hands as the waves washed over their feet. Stevie squealed and jumped each time, making Harry laugh. You joined them, taking Stevie’s other hand. You and Harry stepped forward, lifting Stevie up so she could swing between you. Her feet were just grazing the tips of the waves, and she laughed excitedly as she kicked her legs.
“Should we go further in?” Harry asked, looking at the happy toddler between you.
“Yes!” She kicked her legs with more force, almost like she could move you forward from her movements. You laughed, stepping deeper.
“Put me down!” Stevie said, kicking her feet as more water surrounded them. You and Harry did as she asked, still keeping a firm grip on her hands as you lowered her into the water. It came up to her chest, which made you a little nervous, but she was clearly not concerned. She pulled one of her arms away from you, running her fingers through the waves in fascination.
“She’s braver than I am,” you smiled. “I wouldn’t go that deep.”
“I would keep you safe,” Harry grinned, leaning over to peck your cheek.
“You better, that’s actually why I married you.”
“Oh really? Because I’m tall?”
“Yeah, how else would I reach the top shelf at the grocery store? That”s your only purpose,” you smiled at him.
“Understandable,” he nodded, a serious look on his face before it broke out into his dimpled smile.
-----
“Come on Stevie, get your toys together!” You called her over from the edge of the water. “It’s almost time to go home.”
“No!” She cried, turning around to look at you and Harry. The two of you had been reclining in the setting sun for the past thirty minutes, but it was getting noticeably colder.
“I know, love, but the sun is going down,” Harry said, pointing to the sky. “see how it’s turning red? That means it’s time to go home.”
She pouted, but made her way over to you nonetheless. She helped you pack up the bags, reaching out for Harry to pick her up.
“I don’t want to go,” she said sadly, burying her face in his neck.
“We’ll come back soon, I promise,” he said, pressing a kiss to her cheek when she lifted her head.
“Tomorrow?”
“Maybe not tomorrow,” you smiled. “But soon.”
You could tell she was getting tired. She barely spoke the whole way back to the car, not even moving when Harry buckled her in to her seat. He took your hand again when he got in, lifting your hand to kiss the back of it as he pulled out of your parking spot.
“I think we tired her out,” you said quietly, glancing back to see Stevie sleeping soundly.
“I think we did,” he smiled, looking at her in the mirror. “I’ve never seen her fall asleep so fast.”
“This is my favorite day,” you sighed happily.
“Yeah?”
You nodded, pulling out your phone to look through the pictures you had taken. “See how cute you are?” You smiled, showing him a few of your favorites. “Are you blushing?”
“No,” he denied immediately, but he couldn’t hide the pink tinge on his cheeks.
“You are,” you smiled, clicking your phone off. “You’re blushing because you’re adorable,” You reached over, poking your finger into the prominent dimple on his face when he matched your grin.
“I think this might be my favorite day too.”

Lost Time
word count: 1k
summary: Right before the snowstorm gets worse, Eugene and Cass find a moment of connection while everyone else enjoys the snow. (set during Queen for a Day)
note: for Eugene Appreciation Week Day 4: Snow :) @gleamful-lanterns @kingreywrites @autumn-ravenclaw
“So, not a fan of the crowds?” Eugene said, walking over to Cassandra. She was standing in the woods a good distance away from everyone else, her arms wrapped tightly around herself to shield from the cold. “I can see why, all those people having fun and smiling must drive you crazy.”
She laughed dryly. “I’ve just never been one to ‘play’ in the snow. I don’t get the point, it’s just ice that happens to come from the sky.”
“I know what you mean, I don’t get the appeal of all this,” he said, pushing the snow with his foot. “I never even played in the snow when I was little. At the orphanage, snowy days just meant shoveling the walkways and hoping the roof didn’t break.”
“Did the roof break a lot?”
“Not all the time, just when there was a lot of snow piled on it. Or when a particularly brave and stupid orphan chose to climb on top of it.”
“Was that ‘brave and stupid orphan’ you?”
“More often than not, yes.” He squinted his eyes, looking at the snow flurrying down. “I sure hope they’ve gotten it fixed, though. This bitch of a storm would definitely destroy that roof.”
“You never really talk about the orphanage,” she pointed out. He laughed humorlessly.
“What’s there to talk about? I grew up in it, then I left it.”
Cass raised an eyebrow. “That’s it?”
“I never cared for that place,” he shrugged. “It was a small building full of sad kids that never got attention, so we had to do anything we could to get someone to notice us.”
“Sounds like a real paradise,” Cassandra snorted.
“Hey, it was what I had. Not all of us could grow up in a castle.”
“My childhood wasn’t exactly full of love and affection either,” she shrugged. “Being the only kid growing up in the castle with a dad that was constantly busy meant I was pretty much raising myself.”
Eugene smirked and elbowed her playfully. “Look at that! We have more in common than we think.”
“Oh, gross,” she laughed.
He smiled as they fell back into a short silence, watching the snow continue to gently float to the ground. “So, what’s your problem with snow?” he asked. “Didn’t you at least have a nice childhood with lots of snow games?”
Cass sighed, her breath billowing in front of her in the cold air. “Snow wasn’t super fun for me as a kid either. It wasn’t like I had any friends to play with when I was growing up.”
“You didn’t have friends? I’m shocked.”
She chuckled and kicked some snow at him. “And what friends did you have? The people that would betray you for a few pieces of silver?”
“...Fair point.”
They stayed quiet for a few seconds before Cass sighed lightly again. She watched the people running around in the snow with a distantly sad look on her face. “I don’t understand how she’s able to just do that so naturally.”
“Do what?”
“I don’t know, just the way she can have fun without caring about everyone else.”
Eugene looked over at Rapunzel and couldn’t help but smile. She was currently catching snowflakes on her tongue, eyes closed and arms thrown behind her. She looked so happy, and it made him feel happy just to see her. Knowing that she was doing okay always made him feel better. “She does care, I think. But not enough to let it stop her from doing anything she wants.” He admired that about her. She didn’t care if the world was watching her, she would do everything she wanted as if there was no one around.
Cass groaned and flung a clump of snow at his face. “Stop looking at her like that.”
“Like what? Like I’m in love with her?”
“Yeah, like that. I’m sick of seeing you two look so lovesick around each other all the time.”
“You should get used to it, because I’m not going to stop being in love with her anytime soon,” he said teasingly.
Cass rolled her eyes but grinned nonetheless. “Whatever.”
“You know… I guess nothing is stopping us from enjoying this snow day. Even though it’s cold and awful, why not make the most of it?” Eugene suggested.
She raised an eyebrow. “What do you mean?”
“I mean, I never got to just have fun in the snow as a kid and neither did you, right? We could just make up for that right now without anyone watching.”
She paused for a moment. “And you wouldn’t use it to make fun of me later?”
“Well, I can’t promise anything, but if we do it together I would also have to make fun of myself, right?”
“Fine,” she said. “What’d you have in mind?”
“Do you wanna build a snowman?”
.
The pair spent a few minutes trying to figure out how to make a snowman. They had only seen some from afar, they didn’t have much snow experience between them. Eventually, they figured out that they had to pack in the snow pretty tight so they could stack different snowballs on top of each other without it collapsing.
After ten minutes and quite a bit of bickering, they had three big snowballs in a stack about the height of Eugene’s shoulders. “Looks like we’re naturals at this,” he grinned. “So what else do we need? Just arms and a face, right?”
“I guess so,” Cassandra responded, picking up two twigs and sticking them into the snowman’s sides.
Eugene grabbed some pebbles from the ground and pushed them into the snowman’s head as eyes and a nose. He picked up a leaf and shook the snow off of it. He formed it into a frown and stuck it onto the snowman’s face. “There we go!”
“Why is he frowning?”
“He’s pissed that he can only exist in the cold.”
Cassandra laughed brighter than Eugene had ever heard her laugh. He almost made a smart remark on how he didn’t know she even had the ability to experience joy, but held back.
The two of them inspected their creation for a moment, looking at the upset snowman they had created. “What now?”
Eugene frowned and looked around. He walked a few feet away and picked up two of the biggest sticks he could find, then handed one to her. “Destroy it before anyone finds out about it?”
“Oh, absolutely.”
