Early visual development for Wish (2023) by Griselda Sastrawinata-Lemay and Brittney Lee.
An earlier version of the film saw Star take on a human form as a magical, glowing character inspired by Peter Pan. Ultimately, the creative team reconceptualized Star as an ethereal, playful entity resembling Mickey Mouse. "Now Star and Asha have an emotional journey. They are soulmates." -Allison Moore.

Wish 2.0 is on its way!!!
🌟 IT'S OFFICIAL!! 🌟
Me and a couple of folks are gonna remake Disney's Wish (for free, for fun, to honor Walt Disney's legacy properly, no commercialisation or anything of the sort)
We are still a growing team and would be happy to find more people to help (especially storyboarders/animators and voice actors).
For now, you can enjoy this little sneak peek of our two main characters's ref sheets, Asha and Star.
Please share around and spread the word!! And don't be shy to DM me if you want to join the team! The more the merrier!!

My first exposure to fan theories was in I think 2014 when my older sister showed me that Disney theory where Elsa and Anna’s parents from Frozen were sailing to Rapunzel from Tangled’s wedding but they obviously got shipwrecked, and that very ship was the one discovered by Ariel in The Little Mermaid, but they didn’t die in the shipwreck, they died in the jungle AFTER the Queen gave birth a baby boy who would go on to become, that’s right, Tarzan from Tarzan. That is why Rapunzel attends Elsa’s coronation. I’ve been obsessed with theories ever since because that theory blew my tiny mind.

Meet the Robinsons things I think about way too often: Wilbur Robinson deleted scenes edition
One thing about MTR that I constantly think about is how in the deleted scenes we get a lot of these little moments of Wilbur realizing more and more things about his father and his past.
In the first of the deleted scenes we get an alternate take on Wilbur and Lewis arriving at the future, and in this version, Lewis tells Wilbur just how many failed adoption interviews he has had.
"That's how many adoption interviews I've had, one hundred and twenty four."
And Wilbur looks so sad as the realization hits him. He probably knew that his father was rejected by families in the past, but most likely wasn't told just how many or how that impacted his father.
Then we get another deleted scene, which is a different version of Wilbur trying to cheer up Lewis to convince him to keep working on the memory scanner by telling him about his father's attempts to build the time machine, asking him "what if my dad had given up on his time machine?" and Lewis going "well none of us would be in this mess, that's for sure." Then Wilbur goes on to list all the cool things that Lewis has gotten to do because of the time machine ending with,
"And! I...would never have met you..."
Like, he looks so happy that he got to meet and befriend this younger version of his dad.
However, Lewis insists on finding his mom saying, that Wilbur is lucky to have such an amazing family and that the time machine is his chance to get one too.
And Wilbur just looks so guilt ridden here, either because the family Lewis is talking so fondly about is indeed his own family too and its currently at jeopardy or because of the fake promise he made Lewis to take him to see his mom. Or both.
And finally, we get an alternate take on the dinner scene in which the family is asking Lewis questions about himself and he says that,
"Besides Wilbur, I don't have a lot of friends."
And the way this boy smiles when he hears this younger version of his dad calling him a friend just melts my heart every time.
Overall, I love the film that we got in the end but I still wish some of the stuff from the deleted scenes had made it in, including these little moments of Wilbur understanding his dad more.
