[OUTDATED INFO] Ron DeSantis just kidnapped a 13-year old boy.
UPDATE: This information is outdated. There have been some revelations regarding the situation, please watch this video for the update. I would also like to remind everyone that I did not and do not intend to mislead -- I made this post with only Jones' tweets to go off of three hours after the incident.
Outdated/original info under the line
-------------------------------------------------------
Earlier this evening, at around 7 PM CT U.S., Rebekah Jones (notably one of DeSantis’ biggest political enemies right now) underwent a raid on her home by state police.
Guns were pointed in the face of her 13-year old son, Jack. They arrested him under the charges of digital terrorism and “on state orders.”
They are refusing to let him go home and they are refusing to let Jones see him.
These are her screenshots recounting the incident from earlier tonight. They were taken at 10:23 PM CT U.S.

Reblog. I don’t care who you are, reblog this. We have to make sure that this doesn’t get buried -- it’s already happening.

every time I read about this Disney vs DeSantis thing and the bit about how the agreement doesn't end “until 21 years after the death of the last survivor of the descendants of King Charles III, king of England" all I can think about is some bumbling caper where the Florida government repeatedly tries to assassinate the entire royal family just to spite Disney

Ron DeSantis Tanks in the Polls As Voters Get to Know Him

I've said it once, I've said it a thousand times. Illegal immigrants aren't "stealing our jobs". Construction labor. Farm labor. Etc. It's jobs most US citizens can't do because it's highly skilled and highly specialized labor. Shit, the pay is so shit that most Americans won't even accept these jobs because they know it's exploitive (the immigrants know they're being exploited to but they know they're also being taken advantage of because they're immigrants).
That's not to mention it's literally back-breaking labor in sweltering temperatures and most citizens can't handle the physical labor or the heat.
DeSantis banning immigration labor is going to
Cause prices to go up because American citizens won't do back-breaking labor for less than minimum wage.
Cause a labor shortage because most Americans just can't fucking handle the work he immigrants do.
Cause a produce shortage because they can't get anyone out to harvest the crops and truck drivers are refusing to travel to Florida because this law will cause any Hispanic person trying to work in Florida to be harassed.
Don't ever fucking tell me this shit is unskilled labor.
(This isn't to say immigrants deserve the exploitation they're receiving. They're human and should be treated as such. This is just to say our economy depends on immigrants because they're the only ones that have the fucking skills to do it efficiently.)

How did attacking a harmless minority, one few Americans care about or even really understand, become the top policy priority of one of the two major political parties in the US? The answer isn’t complicated, and it has nothing to do with trans people at all. The anti-trans moral panic was manufactured to sell Ron DeSantis as the savior of the Republican party after Trump. Everything else ultimately stems from the miscalculation that tried, and failed, to bring us President Meatball Ron.
Everyone is mocking DeSantis today, but he's a monster.
I dearly hope he loses his cherished governorship in 2026. Surely Floridians won't re-elect him again after this disastrous episode?
Update: I have just been informed Florida has a 2-term limit, so DeSantis is definitely out in 2026! Yayy! Unless he manages to change the rules, hmmmmm

Y'all I can't explain to you the pit I have in my stomach when I think about rising fascism, illness, inflation, and social unrest going into the 2024 elections. Especially when mixed with the widespread nihilism, burnout, and purity culture we're seeing
I am stressed
And I'm so fucking sick and tired of screaming in my corner of the internet for ANYONE to listen that fascism is here. That we NEED to keep fighting and yeah it's exhausting and it sucks but it wouldn't so suck much IF ENOUGH PEOPLE would just fucking listen and help spread the word. I could give my voice a break.
Like there no way EVERYONE is just not seeing/hearing. We're being intentionally and systematically ignored.
And the fact that I'm not the only one screaming and still people just choose to scroll or buy another "silly little treat" to help them cope instead of thinking for two seconds that they wouldn't HAVE to cope in Hell Timeline if they just supported the people demanding rights that would benefit EVERYONE
Like respectfully, you are so valid for hating it here and wanting to escape into your oat milk frappuccinos with extra whip, trust me so do I, but if things get worse people will die en fucking masse, do you understand?
Because we chose a Starbucks drink instead. Do you get it?
We HAVE to do something.
We can't just do nothing cuz that's easier.
And I know so, so many of us do what we can to make the changes we can. This post isn't about us.
It's about how we're going to fall into fascism because of people who think passively letting fascism happen and watching their neighbors be dragged away is a more emotionally acceptable consequence than actively making themselves uncomfortable in the name of human rights.
Hence the passport.
We've been screaming about this for decades trying to warn y'all and now fascism is undeniably here again and STILL most people won't give us the time of day. W h y?
My whole family are queer/neurodivergent natives of color.
I shouldnt feel like I have to run from where my people came from. Where my ancestors and living family still fight to protect.
But I'm very, very scared that if I don't our lives will be on the line. And with one genocide already in our history our survival is crucial to me.
How long am I supposed to wait for allies to help when I can see the mob marching towards me with pitchforks?
How close do I let them get until I'm allowed to admit no allies are showing up?
The awful answer to what most of you would do if fascism returned and you were forced to accept it or aid your fellow humans....
You'd accept it.

Every time I speak up against trans/gender ideology, I'm terrified of being harassed and doxed like many other women have been. I'm terrified of being stalked and cyber bullied like countless other women have been for sharing our opinions on our own reality and sex. This is not normal. I and other women should not feel terrified talking about female oppression and biological sex. The fact that we feel this scared in 2023 talking about feminism because it will offend men, blows my mind. Seeing trans people on tumblr and twitter make violent comments like 'shoot a bullet through every terfs pussy' or 'every terf should get raped' or 'women should stfu about oppression because it's terfy' and the fact that no one calls them out and the minute they do, they're instantly doxed and bullied off by being called a bigot? When trans people make comments like this towards women, it's no wonder, we do not want to share our spaces with you people. Our concerns are valid and not born out of bigotry or transphobia like so many claim it to be - it is an exact reaction to the violence shown by tra/trans women. At the end of the day, trans ideology is more about male entitlement, male violence and further oppressing the female sex.

Librarians Against Clause 28
Section 28 legislation [Clause 27/28] was introduced in 1988 to ban the "promotion of homosexuality" in the UK. Schools and councils were unable to provide young LGBTQ+ people with help. This homophobic legislation was partly introduced following the outcry over "Jenny Lives with Eric and Martin" being available to schoolchildren in Haringey. This picture book described the life of five-year-old Jenny, her father Martin, and his boyfriend Eric who lives with them. There was also increasing homophobia in the mainstream press due to the AIDS crisis and, when Margaret Thatcher spoke at the 1987 Conservative Party Conference, she declared how children were "being taught that they have an inalienable right to be gay" and "all of those children are being cheated of a sound start in life". Section 28 was finally repealed on 21 June 2001 in Scotland and on 18 November 2003 in the rest of the UK.
