Seashell Seashore (Ortho & GN!Reader)
Tumblr media
Note: This one-shot with Ortho is strictly platonic
You sighed as you stretched out on your towel. Your sunglasses protected your eyes from the bright rays of sunlight that shone down on the beach. They would certainly get you bone dry before long; you could already feel the sea moisture evaporating from your hair. It’d been a nice swim, exactly what you needed on a hot day like this. The fact the beach was less crowded today was just the syrup on the snow cone. As you rested your arms above your head you closed your eyes, determined to spend the rest of your time relaxing in the sun.
The sound of splashing took you out of the haze your mind was slowly fading into. Whether out of curiosity or the disturbance of your impending slumber, you opened your eyes and craned your neck forward to look out at the shoreline. Through the shade of your sunglasses you saw Ortho standing ankle-deep in the water, hands reached out in search of…something. Did he drop something into the sea by accident? You worried it might be something vital to his waterproof body. Though your body screamed in protest, you got up from your spot on the towel and trotted over to Ortho.
“Do you need any help?” you asked as you looked down at the robotic boy.
Ortho looked up to meet your eye and smiled. “Oh, hello [Y/n]! If you would like to help, I would be very grateful.”
“What’re you looking for?” Your eyes scanned the shallow water, now cloudy from your footsteps and Ortho’s searching. “Did you drop something?”
“Oh, no, I did not drop anything.” You sighed in relief - no crisis to be concerned about. “I am looking for seashells.”
“Seashells?” When you took a closer look at the boy, you realized he had a fanny pack across his chest. The bottom was slightly damp - that must be where he kept them.
“Mhm!” Ortho nodded. He took one of his hands out of the water and held up a pink one for you to see. “Yesterday, Vil taught me how to make jewelry with them.” He unzipped his pouch, put the little shell inside, then zipped it back up again before he went back to his search. “I want to make one for my brother! He hasn’t come out much since Kingscholar dunked him into the pool the other day.”
Oh yeah, you remembered that…poor guy. He looked like he almost had a heart attack, not that Leona was too remorseful. At least he got quite the reprimand from Trein for it. You smiled as you rolled up the sleeves of your kimono cover. “Let me help you out with that. I’ll help you make the jewelry once you have enough.”
“Thank you!” Ortho was practically beaming now. While you could not see the smile under his mask, you could envision it by the way his eyes crinkled with joy. “I believe I have collected enough to make a bracelet. I want to make myself one, too; maybe I can make even more if we gather enough.”
“Well, let’s get to it then!” You knelt down in the water so you could dig further into the sand. “We can look tomorrow, too, if we don’t get enough for a few.”
Ortho seemed excited by the prospect for the way he quickly set to work beside you. The two chatted idly about nothing in particular as you went along long into the day. Sometimes you talked of what either of you had been doing during the trip, while other times you spoke about what you looked forward to doing in the days to come. Before you knew it, the sun had begun to set behind the ways, which cast your surroundings in a light orange hue. You looked up from your current search spot, a few feet from where you’d first begun, to scan your surroundings. It seemed you both were the last two on the beach - everyone else had gone elsewhere.
“It’s getting late,” you commented. Water dripped from your kimono and swimsuit as you stood. “We should head back to the resort to wash off - it’ll be dinner time soon.”
“Yes, I think that is a good idea,” Ortho said as he zipped up his fanny back. “Brother will be wondering where I am; I do not want him to worry.”
“Give me a minute to grab my stuff,” you said as you began to walk back to shore. “I’ll walk back with you.”
“That is a good idea, too.” Ortho began to hover over the water as he followed after you. “It is best to travel in groups, just in case trouble should ari-”
“Ow!” Your painful cry stopped Ortho mid-sentence. Your foot had hit something hard beneath the sand. You didn’t think you were bleeding, but it sure did hurt!
“Are you alright?!” Ortho asked, now at your side as his eyes searched you for injuries. “Do you need medical attention?”
“N-No, I think I’m fine.” You grunted as you lifted your foot out of the water. You bent your leg up and across your other leg to get a better look at your foot. Nope, no cut in sight. It didn’t look like it would bruise, either. You smiled and showed Ortho to reassure him before you put your foot down.
“See? Just bumped my foot against something.” Your forehead creased as your brows furrowed as you focused on where your foot had been. The water was murky from when you shifted your foot, but you could make out something poking out of the sand. You reached down to grab it, then carefully pulled it out. Both you and Ortho gazed in awe at the object in your hand: a conch shell!
“Wow!” Ortho’s yellow orbs seemed to swirl with stars as he ogled the large shell. “It’s so pretty! That is a conch, isn’t it?”
“Yeah!” You couldn’t help but beam yourself as you brought the shell up for a closer look. “These are really hard to find, especially in this condition. This would cost a ton at a gift shop!”
“It seems to be fully intact as well,” Ortho observed as he circled you to get a full look at the shell. “That is a very good find, [Y/n]!”
You nodded as you continued to stare at the shell. Its body was a soft pink color that faded to white at the lower and upper tips. You saw that the inside was white as well - smooth, too. You tipped the shell over and shook it gently to get any remaining sand out of it, then put it up to your ear. You smiled as you listened.
“What are you doing?” Ortho asked as he curiously tilted his head.
“I’m listening,” you replied as you removed the conch from your ear. “If you press your ear against the opening of a conch, you can hear the sea.”
Ortho raised an eyebrow in confusion. “That is impossible, even if you are on the beach. The sea is not inside the shell; how can you hear it if you are far away?”
You giggled, “It’s just a traditional fantasy, Ortho. You can’t really hear the sea - but the way the air circulates from your ear to the shell sounds like it.” You offered the conch to him. “Here, try it!”
Ortho showed no hesitance as he took the conch and pressed it to his ear. You watched as his eyes widened as he listened. Your smile grew into a grin as Ortho took the conch away from his ear and practically jumped up and down at the discovery. “It does sound like the sea! We must have my brother listen, too!”
“Yeah, we should!” You began to walk again, and Ortho followed close to your side. “I’m sure he’ll think it’s cool.”
Idia, indeed, thought it was cool - at least that’s what he said for his brother’s sake. You spent a good time in Idia and Ortho’s condo that night as you helped Ortho make little shell necklaces and bracelets. Before you could leave when bedtime came, however, Ortho gave you the conch you’d found. While you protested at first, Ortho insisted that you keep it.
“I can hear the sea whenever I want to - I just have to load up an audio file.” He gently pushed the conch into your arms. “But you may not be able to one day. When that day comes, you can listen to the conch and remember the time you spent here - the time we found it.”
Ortho was right. In the future, whenever you grew lonely, you picked up that conch and placed your ear against its crevice to listen to the sea. To relive those memories at the beach with your friends, and the little boy you helped collect seashells for his brother.

Warmth | Eichi Tenshouin x Reader
Okay I know I said I likely wouldn’t write anything but I've been sick all day since yesterday and today were so cold so please take this very self indulgent piece I wrote to make myself feel better sdklfjsf
As you fall asleep, the cold night is bearable knowing Eichi is beside you. Genre: Fluff Word Count: 0.7k
There were many words to describe Eichi Tenshouin, many of them less than pleasant. And out of the many words to not describe him, “warm” would be one of them. A complexion paler than snow, a piercing gaze of icy blue that could make even the boldest of egos shatter under them. A ruthless smile that only made him look more foe than friend paired with a voice of such a silvery timbre, it never failed to send a shiver down spines. His frail constitution leaving his temperature naturally running low, he couldn’t be considered warm in any form of the word even if he tried.
And yet you couldn’t help but think of him as such. As you climbed into the empty bed, satin sheets acted as slates of ice, radiating a chill you could feel even through your pyjamas. Your body trembled as even the weight of the blankets did little to keep the cold at bay. You needed something else to keep you warm. Someone.
As if hearing your thoughts, your boyfriend dutifully entered the bedroom, his figure engulfed with an extra quilt. Upon seeing your form he slowly shook his head.
“I thought I told you not to wait for me,” Eichi sighed in light chastising but he couldn’t stop the corners of his lips lifting.
“‘S too cold,” you grumbled as you pulled the bed sheets closer to you. “Couldn’t sleep even if I wanted to.”
“I know, my dear,” his smile turned sympathetic as he added the blanket to the pile on the bed. You lifted the covers with your arm, inviting Eichi in. He graciously dipped his head in thanks, slipping into bed beside you. Dropping your arm, the blankets fell, resting on your bodies. You let out a hum in approval at the added weight, successfully shutting out the cold and yet you still shivered. Eichi tilted his head in surprise even though he wasn’t faring any better, you could feel his trembling shaking the mattress. His face was taut, muscles frozen to his signature smirk, but you knew better as his hand slithered forward, hovering above your waist, fingers twitching in anticipation.
“May I?” He whispered.
“You don’t have to ask,” you replied with a dry throat, shuffling forward as his wiry hand settled on your side. But that wasn’t enough, not for Eichi. He pulled himself towards you, his arm now snaking around your form the closer he got. His other hand caressed the crown of your head, lightly lowering your face until your cheek was resting against his neck. His hold on you was light, yet you pushed yourself impossibly closer to him as encouragement for him to tighten his grip. So he did.
“I feel as though you’re getting the short end of the stick,” Eichi mused. You replied with a questioning hum, forcing him to stifle a chuckle as the vibrations tickled his neck. “Well, having you in my arms is a gift in and of itself, but I doubt I’m doing much to make you feel better in such cold.”
You frowned, digging your face deeper into the nook of his neck to prove your point.
“You’re warm,” you mumbled.
Eichi didn’t reply, fingers that gripped your arm only tightened. You tried to pull away to take a look at his face, to see if you managed to surprise even the Eichi Tenshouin, but his hand on the back of your head resisted. Settling back against him, you didn’t miss how his Adam’s apple bobbed, feeling his lips graze against your forehead.
“You’re likely the only person who thinks that.”
“Am I wrong?”
“Many would say so.”
His tone was wistful. But he caught himself before he could think any further, returning to the present as you pressed a kiss to the fabric on his shoulder. Eichi craned his neck to the side, allowing himself to gaze at your sleepy form and you to do the same back. Gazing into those eyes, blue as the seashore on a bright summer’s day. Skin so pale he seemed to be gently glowing under the moonlight. He looked ethereal, an angel gazing down at you. Pulling you back into him, his hold on your body tightening as you nuzzled into him again. His voice was a hushed whisper as he pondered aloud, like the gentle tones of wind chimes in your ear.
“Me, warm? Hm... if that’s what you believe… then I’ll be selfish and let you keep thinking so.”

🎵for joanlock, royriza, and galahadrhen (Teijalahad excluded because I know you have a whole playlist for them, but you can answer for them too if you like hehe)
EEEE thank u for the ask!! sorry to answer it like two weeks late!!
joan & sherlock:
Apocalyptic Love Song (For Hitchens) - Shelley Segal (youtube) "Yes I understand that my whole life is just the blink of an eye / in the history of the Earth and with each day that passes by / but this moment that I'm with you / it feels like time has stood still / it feels someone how like it matters / and that it always will" a to the point love song jam-packed with natural science references, finding nihilism beautiful rather than bleak.
Curses - The Crane Wives (youtube) "Every word I say is kindling / but the smoke clears when you're around / won't you stay with me, my darling / when my walls start burning down, down, down?" If I was making an actual mix I'd spend more time looking for a song that conveys the same idea without being this exact one, but I'm not, so. Feels like a good song to convey the relationship of sober companion turned platonic life partner
Mountain and the Sea - Ingrid Michaelson (youtube) "I will grow my own trees / while you follow the moon / I feel you in my knees / say you'll come in soon / you can move me if you want to / you can move a mountain, you can move a mountain" Joan finding a new direction through her life via working and living with Sherlock and also "I'm so glad I fell into your orbit" & the whole sense of his influence on her life being this massive, larger than life force. also gotta love a love song where the person being sung to is referred to as "my darling friend"
Plastic - Moses Sumney (youtube) "I know what it is to be broken and be bold / tell you that my silver is gold / though we're much too old for make believe / and I know what it's like to behold and not be held" Obligatory song from Aromanticism. I interpret this song as kind of untangling putting on airs of the type of person you are and feelings you have, even though that's hurt you before in the past, and now being honest with someone. which I think rings really true for these two, who spend a lot of time either working through what they want (in Joan's case) or refusing to express it (in Sherlock's)
royai I did over here!!!
and then Rhen and Galahad. If I had Rhen and Galahad songs you would know. Part of the reason it took me so long to answer is because I was putting off admitting that I just have One, Seashore by The Regrettes (credit to ishti for putting it on their rhenegade mix for the galahad chapter):
"You're talkin' to me like I'm hurt / at least I'm not six feet in the dirt / and I'll still kick your ass even in my skirt / you're talkin' to me like a child / but I'm not a helpless baby / not waitin' on you to come save me"
i also one time made a joke that the rhen and galahad dynamic is rhen being like "can someone tell this guy i didn't hire a babysitter" while galahad is imagining a king and lionheart amv in his head but that's more a joke than an actual saying that song fits

" You've got blood in your hair. "
unprompted ask ( always accepting ! )   /   @bclasaeg
Tumblr media
Sometimes, when moments of tranquility seem to stretch on longer than necessary, life likes to strike it down with reminders of the past. Suengri never dares to forget about his past or the grievances that lead up to it, but it’s been so buried in the back of his mind somewhere that it has learned to wait for the right time to attack. Like today, for instance.
He’d just come back from a mission... the last one the daimyo ordered him to complete before he was finally (kind of) granted immunity from the shinobi life... immunity from Konoha. It wasn’t necessarily all sugar and rainbows, and there were still many regulations he had to abide by, but it was a start. If he learned anything from watching Kura, then it was that escaping and hiding from the law, while tempting, was a feat neither of them deserved. Not in this lifetime, nor in their next. So for now, he settled with the start of the little dream he confided with Kura in that little home of his, many years ago. When he’d just saved him from chakra depletion and when things seemed far simpler and easier.
His home is closer to Konoha than he’d initially have liked, but it rests atop a small mountain hill, overlooking another small village that’s beside a shore line. He can see the view from the kitchen, and even to his bedroom. It’s a small place, but good for one person. When he enters the bathroom, there’s already a warm tub waiting for him. He reaches for his arm to untie his shinobi band, but fingers grasp at nothing. Right, they confiscated his headband, along with a few other things. Skipping that little step felt weird to his routine, but he continued to strip from his clothes before finally settling into the warm water of the tub.
The easy dirt sets afloat, and he grabs a nearby rag to scrub off the remaining grime from his skin. It doesn’t look like a lot, but over time, the color of the bath water changes, too. He’s just about to get up and drain the water in exchange for the shower head, when the door creaks open. Kura’s familiar head pops in, his hand covering his eyes and the other, displaying a set of folded clothes and towel. Suengri swears he can see the hints of a smile playing at the corner of Kura’s lips. “Wow, what a gentleman.” Suengri says dryly, mildly amused by his antics. “I thought you’d have left already.” Nevermind that he didn’t even sense him earlier. Perhaps he was just that tired, or perhaps it was the temporary limiters placed on him. “Just set them in the sink. I’ll be out, soon.”
'You've got blood in your hair.’
It’s a simple comment that really shouldn’t have affected him. Kura’s seen blood on him as much as he’s seen blood on Kura. But something about this new, small place, this new beginning of sorts, opens a floodgate of memories from his past that he didn’t think he’d dwell on. Not today, not right now. Because he’s killed, yes. But there was a time when he was so angry with the world and devastated by a loss that he killed recklessly, aimlessly. Survivors' guilt did that to him, and along with that grief, brought about innocents to their complete demise. Had it not been for him, they could have been one of the few in this village, progressing on with their life like he was doing now. But they weren’t, and he was here instead, in his home, atop a hill that overlooked a pretty seashore, and with a person close by.
Suengri holds onto this additional layer of guilt, but he’s selfish enough to carrying it with him and crane his neck to the side, asking for familiar, light fingers to sooth those sorrows away. To help him. “... wash it away for me?”

Professional Crane Barge Service
Tumblr media
These crane barges have to be massive enough to handle the required lifting and remain secure in all sea circumstances. A large derrick barge can handle these circumstances often better than different working vessels.  To fulfill crane barge service quality directives, a brand new, longer outfall was needed. Dredgers had to reckon with the recreational significance of seashores, plus the existence of an operative pipeline. Most of those dredges are crane barges with spuds, steel piles that can be lowered and raised to place the dredge. A trailing suction hopper dredger trails its suction pipe when working - crane barge service
It keeps waterways and ports navigable, and assists coastal safety, land reclamation, and coastal redevelopment, by gathering up backside sediments and transporting them elsewhere. Dredging could be done to get good supplies of business worth; these could also be high-value minerals or sediments such as sand and gravel that are utilized by the development trade.
This dredger uses a hydraulic system to draw supplies up through an attachment. Similarly, the jet suction dredger uses high-pressure jets of water to loosen supplies and drive them into the suction tube. When a project is coping with vast portions of unfastened supplies, like soil, silt, and nice gravel, a suction dredger is right - hydraulic dredging
It helps remove contaminants from the waterways and recreate broken areas through reclamation works. This is a ship that sucks up the sediment slurry and holds that slurry within the ship until it gets to its spot. For more information, please visit our website https://www.pacificmaritimegroup.com/
