Fanfic Idea

Ugh! I had this idea to write a fic about what-if Marinette was evil instead of Gabriel! But now with the whole Shadybug and Claw Noir special coming, I feel I have to wait, so things like 'Good Gabriel's good guy name' and what he calls who makes heroes (currently I'm calling them champion but I don't know anything) are more accurate to the show!

Plot

Essentially, it would've been in this universe, so no Shadybug. Instead, her name would've been Miss Fortune (I've been in this fandom since the beginning, I've always wanted that name to be canon). She takes the image of a shy sweet girl Marinette Dupain-Cheng but when things don't go her way, she becomes Miss Fortune.

Luckily, Paris has a hero in its corner, the amazing Chat Noir who battles the evil Miss Fortune. However, he also has an ally in the form of Papillon, a mysterious benefactor who helps him by sending him champions.

Characters

Adrien will still be our innocent sunshine child, but he has a whole lot more on his shoulders, trying to stop Miss Fortune from wrecking havoc and eventually becoming Guardian.

As Chat Noir, he and the champion have to work together to fight Miss Fortune. I have this system where Miss Fortune has a anti-charm (like Anti-bug) and if the two destroy it, the world healing begins.

Alya is still how she is in the show. Except she despises Miss Fortune. Her blog is towards Chat instead and she insults Miss Fortune anyway she can. She wants to rid the world of Miss Fortune, unaware she's her best friend.

Chloe would be a much better person (she still has some of her original flaws, so she would be not be like Zoe), liking Adrien like a brother and treating Sabrina like a real friend. Of course, Marinette doesn't see their relationship as platonic so she targets her. This version of Anti-Bug would've have Papillon give Chloe the power of the original Ladybug miraculous until Chat decides to give her the bee miraculous to use.

Lila would've been a person who always told the truth and while not all of her stories from canon were true, she does have some real amazing tales. This attracts Adrien to her (again platonically) much to Marinette's chagrin. One story is that Miss Fortune stole her bag once and Chat Noir got it back for her. Marinette thinks Lila is lying and Chat doesn't remember Lila specifically but he does remember giving someone back their bag.

So she briefly becomes Miss Fortune to embarrass her but this just inspires her to become Volpina and her and Chat briefly work together to take her down.

Gabriel is a much better father here! He's still busy and Emilie is still dead. But he's allowed Adrien to go to school and have a less stricter lifestyle. He still misses his wife but goes on a more healthier path instead and tries to move on while helping Chat Noir as Papillon.

Zoe would've been a person who acted nice when in reality, she's a massive witch. She still has feelings for Marinette but Marinette takes advantage of these feeling instead. She assist Miss Fortune also, not liking when things don't go her way. Half of Chloe becoming akumatized episodes would be Chloe either needing the bee miraculous or her helping Chat as a champion. Zoe would play dumb when confronted but some people start seeing the truth through her and Marinette's lies.

Shipping

So Marinette likes Adrien to disturbing degrees. Finding her strange since kindergarten, Adrien at best can be civil towards her. In the Animan episode of this AU, he would've weirded out by Nino's crush on her but would've still helped him, because he's a good friend and he feels he would be a good influence of her.

He and Miss Fortune jokingly flirt with each other sometimes, but they really hate each other with a fiery passion.

Adrien is bisexual in this fic. Who is Adrien's partner? Luka. Instead of liking Marinette, he takes a shining to Adrien instead. Adrien is smitten as both himself and Chat Noir. Luka would be a frequent character in season 1. Often times, Chloe and Juleka (and sometimes Nino) would try pairing them together frequently.

Marinette used to have a crush to Luka and he used to give her a chance but with all the lying and her accidently making it clear she likes Adrien, he also can now only be civil to her.

Chloe is also bisexual. Nathaniel initially has feelings for her instead of Marinette in 'Evilluastor'. Season 1 would plenty of cute moments. Not sure I should write whether they broke up but are on good terms or have them be in a poly relationship with Marc and Kagami.

Down the line, Chloe gains feelings for Kagami. Marinette in this AU, never lets go of her mean feelings for Kagami and instead Kagami enters the scavenger hunt in 'Ikati Gozen' with Chloe, causing the two to bond. Kagami never has feelings for Adrien (but I'll say it again, Marinette doesn't see it that way).

Chloe as Ladybug and Nath as Chat Noir - chlonath AU

Ok so I know this concept isn’t revolutionary or whatever, but strap in I have a lot of thoughts-

So in this, where for Marinette and Adrien getting a miraculous and becoming a superhero helps them through their issues, for Chloe and Nathaniel they instead enable unhealthy coping mechanisms. Let me explain:

Where in canon, becoming Ladybug helped Marinette grow into herself more, build self-confidence and assurance when in her citizen life she’s clumsy and the mousy classmate, for Chloé it’d be her gateway to getting the attention and validation she craves. But the thing is that seeking this sort of attention to fill a void never actually does that, you’re always only left wanting more.

Where for Adrien, having the chance to become Chat Noir made him be able to drop his perfect son model persona and be wild and free and laidback, get some freedom, for Nath it’d become a power fantasy, being able to be strong and respected like he’s always dreamed, but it’d also make him adopt a fake persona. Becoming one, instead of shedding one.

In short, instead of truly being all in it to help other people and/or doing the best job they can, it’s all bad coping with their citizen lifestyle & focused on their own self.

And you’re going to say; Well that doesn’t sound so bad. Oh no, oh no trust me it is. Being superheroes and feeling important for a bit will not in any way sort their issues out.

Chloe indeed getting positive attention from being Ladybug will def not act like therapy with her and won’t solve the shit ton of issues she has, and ultimately what she needs isn’t fame at all, or support relying on how much she does (aka transactional support), that’ll only shift her world view from "to be important(aka respected and "good") I need to be like my mother 24/7" to "to be important(aka liked) I need to excel as a superhero 24/7". What she needs is to allow herself to be imperfect and vulnerable and getting a good support system.

And Nath is so much worse oh no my boy. Imo he’s very much the sort of bully victim to fantasize about suddenly growing incredible strength or magical powers and slamdunking on their bullies with it, I see him as having some anger issues, mostly bc of the ep where he’s quick to assume Marc is ill intentioned and snaps at him + his Evillustrator episode. Of course though, like with Chloe, their issues stem from trauma. But all this to say that as a superhero? It would be the biggest ego trip for him. He’d put on this act of what he thinks the "cool, appreciated" jokester superhero behaves like and ultimately, like with Chloe, the validation he gets from being a superhero won’t truly feel like validation for him. His service to the city would (like Chloe, yeah they do have similarities ngl) make him feel entitled to more recognition and things in his citizen life. He’d want to randomly use his powers to get attention from citizens, etc etc, and fighting and being in a situation of power would enable him to let out his anger and resentment in unhealthy ways.

Yayy say hi to our heroes!! They do seek to defeat akumas and protect the city & citizens tho.

On the first meeting as superheroes they wouldn’t like each other, but after that Nath would become smitten with Ladybug, and not out of idealism either. It’ll be so ironic that he’s so in love with her as Ladybug but absolutely loathes her as Chloe. I think Chloe might have tried one of her flashy tricks like endangering the train for attention, but then she’d get demolished by the akuma, and then when she ultimately wins and defeats it, the saved citizens cheer for her so much more than they did when she faked a problem. So, she thought, here actions actually matter instead of pretenses and appearances like in high society and politics? Wild. And getting demolished actually gives her a wake up call that this isn’t play-pretending, it’s serious, and so in my AU as ladybug she’d be pretty no nonsense and straight to the point, liking to be valued by her merits because she does put in efforts.

Tikki’s adherance to rules and moral righteousness does rub off on her, but honestly Chloe doesn’t see future consequences all that much. Her reason for rejecting Chat Noir’s advances (besides her not liking him that much, no love square bc I don’t think in this AU Chloe would have a crush on Nath, at least not until he gives her a chance ) and request to know each other’s identities isn’t because of rules or safety at all, but because she’s terrified that he’ll reject her if he knows who she is. And she’s right to be, because when the identity reveal does happen, Nath is pissed and refuses to see her for like one or two weeks. But yes Tikki does imprint in her the importance of rules and plans of action, and that… Ends up making her more bossy in her citizen life. Akuma attacks? Chloe will be telling her classmates how to act as she gets a special free pass to leave because of her father, pissing everyone off.

Now where it’d get fun is that Chloe would slander the shit out of the Akuma’s costumes, and Hawkmoth’s if she ever sees it. Like Marinette doesn’t does that in canon and she’s an aspiring fashion designer hello??! I guess that comedic potential will have to go to our meanest girl critic then. Also she def does banter with Chat Noir. Like, the nickname chaton? She tries it once condescendingly, saying and Chat Noir goes "Don’t call me kitten" understandably peeved, and she goes "Well, what am I going to call you then? Chat Noir is so alleyway tomcat, ew. Hmm, how about tiger?" Pointing to his hair, and that makes him feel kinda fierce and badass so he agrees lol

But also, I think he’d start giving more chances to Chloe in citizen life and in turn it’d surprise Chooe and encourage her to be more vulnerable with him and in general. They form a tense but non-hostile acquaintanceship. When asked why, Nath just goes "Someone taught me that giving second chances can surprise you." aka Ladybug because he disliked her at first (she reminded him of Chloe lol). Chloe would be super curious about and interested in the superhero comics Nath makes, centered around Ladybug and Chat Noir’s adventures, some suspiciously accurate and some very obviously made up. When poiting at his comics, she calls Chat Noir ‘tiger’ and Nath is SO disturbed about it, but Chloe’s like "?? Well it’s know Ladybug calls hom that, so um, like, everyone calls him that now you know? Get in with the times"

The relationship between the miraculous holders and their kwamis would be crucial.

Like, we know that Chloe admires Ladybug in canon a bunch, but I don’t remember why exactly, so I don’t think Chloe would necessarily be overjoyed at first to get such a huge responsibility dropped on her. But all that Tikki would need to say is "I chose you, no one else can do it", aka, "you’re special" and Chloe is instantaneously sold. Once she realizes it’s not a game she’d feel a lot of pressure on her shoulders, but ultimately she’ll end up feeling like it’s her duty and hers alone and she can’t give it to anyone else, because she’s special. But as time goes on, Tikki becomes someone Chloe really leans on. She sort of replaces Mr. Cuddly for her: Tikki is a supportive presence that offers unconditional advice and affection. Of course Tikki will scold her on a bunch of things, helping her see the errors of her way and acting as a sort of moral compass, BUT! Tikki will also be the only person that she can truly just be with, even Jean can’t do that fully because ultimately he’s a hired worker and doesn’t want to be fired, or be super attached only for his contract to end y’know. With everyone, even Adrien imo, she has some expectations to uphold or effects she wants to have, but Tikki? Tikki’s seen her bawling her eyes out, saying ugly things out of anger, covered in mud, she’s seen everything. Tikki knows everything about her and her situation in both halves of her life, and she hasn’t left, and that just means that Chloe can truly have no filter with her. And Tikki takes care of her holder.

Needless to say Nath jumps onto the opportunity as soon as Plagg so much as utters a word. I think it’s often forgotten or undermined, but while Plagg is generally laidback, he also has a strong sense of morals and he 100% will bluntly confront Nath if he tries or does anything shitty or anything for the wrong reasons. He will 100% call out Nath on it if he’s not taking being a superhero seriously enough (I know, god forbid Plagg to be the pne to do that lmao). Plagg is that type of influence that will encourage Nath to stand up for himself and become more self-confident (in a healthy and genuine way) in his citizen life. He’ll tell him to stand up to his bullies, and he’ll hype him up like "You’re epic! Yeah!! You can do this!! YEAH!!!" which will be SO good for Nath. But, if Nath is thinking of getting revenge on, say, Chloe, in a cruel way, Plagg will def be the first to say it’s wrong and will only make everything worse for everyone. He’s a sort of firm but incredibly warm older brother. In a similar way to Chloe, Plagg’s seen how Nath is and doesn’t mind it at all, is still the same supportive way, and that helps Nath with his insecurities, that maybe if Plagg still likes him then that how he really is isn’t lame or plain or boring.

Tikki is the supportive and present parental figure she needs. Plagg is the emotionally & socially intelligent and encouraging friend he needs.

So in the end, the true remedy for shit self-esteem isn’t superhero powers but the friends we made along the way.

Chloe and Nath are such good mirrors of one another fr fr 😭😭💕

ChloNath Blind Date

Thank you @ilsemes for this request! I can't believe I'd never done a blind date of these two! Hope you enjoy a couple of 20-something-year-olds being children (ﾉ◕ヮ◕)ﾉ*:･ﾟ✧

This…has to be a mistake.

Nathaniel's eyes dart around the room, trying in vain to spot anyone—anyone else—wearing a gold dress. It's a new year's party for fuck's sake; there's no way—absolutely no way—she's the only one wearing gold.

But she is. His search yields nothing, gaze always making its way back to her. Plenty of people dressed in black, white, blue, purple, red—but only Chloé Bourgeois is golden.

It has to be a coincidence. The person Adrien set him up with just hasn't arrived yet, and Chloé just happens to be wearing gold, because of course she is, she's Chloé—

But he knows the look in those blue eyes when they lock with his across the room. He's sure it's the same look he's wearing right now, because it just screams the words only a person set up on a blind date with their childhood nemesis would say.

There's no way.

"So we can agree that this is a bad idea, right?"

"Absolutely."

"And that Adrien clearly lost his mind?"

"Definitely."

"Great, so I see no reason why we should go through with it, do you?"

His breath catches for just a second at the passing thought, Is a stunning gold dress a reason? "...Nope."

"Wonderful. Enjoy the party, happy new year, blah blah blah. Later, Red."

As he watches her walk away, Nathaniel immediately wonders if he made the right decision.

For about two seconds. Then he moves on.

"That's the last lemon tart."

"Chloé there are a million other desserts on this table."

"But only one lemon tart."

"You can't be serious."

"Give me the lemon tart, Red."

"Why do you keep calling me that?"

She looks at him as if he'd just asked what the date was. A purposeful glance at his hair. Back to his eyes. "...You really need me to explain that one to you?"

Seven years apart and she still knows how to get under his skin. She takes a step closer, just barely toeing the line into personal space. "Trust me, Red. You do not want to get between me and something I want."

"It's a lemon tart."

"The only lemon tart."

He's taller than her now, but that doesn't make her glare any less scary. Somehow though, the threat in that bright blue only makes his resolve stronger.

He doesn't even like lemon tarts that much.

But she clearly does.

Holding her glare with a challenge in his own, Nathaniel raises the pastry to his mouth and takes a bite. Rather than the explosive outrage he might have expected, Chloé's eyes narrow in a seething, simmering resentment, and he knows he's just renewed their status as enemies.

“You’re going to regret that.”

Never has he felt so satisfied by a simple dessert.

"What?? You can't be serious!"

"That's my line."

Adrien has the audacity to look wounded. "Did you even consider it?"

"Yeah, for like, two seconds. Then we agreed that it was clearly a bad idea."

"Rude."

"Adrien. Seriously. Me and Chloé?"

He rolls his eyes and crosses his arms. "You don't know her like I do. I want you to know her like I do. If you did, you'd understand."

"We just got in a fight over a lemon tart."

"...What?"

"I took the last lemon tart, she demanded to have it, so I ate it in front of her."

Adrien stares at him with a blank look on his face before shrugging and walking away, shaking his head as he mumbles, "I don't know why I set you up on a date; you're already practically married."

"Chloé, come on, give it back."

"No, I think I'll keep it."

"It's mine."

"Just like the lemon tart was mine."

"No it wasn't!"

"That's a matter of opinion."

Chloé dangles his bumblebee keychain in front of him teasingly, clearly baiting him to chase.

He does.

Nathaniel weaves through the abandoned tables and chairs littering the outdoor patio with not even half as much grace as her. He follows that devious giggle nonetheless, relentlessly pursues her mischievous smirk, until she finds herself at a dead end.

Or maybe the balcony was the exact destination she had in mind, he realizes as she holds the charm up in the air.

Gasping for air, he stops about a meter away from her. "This is crossing a line."

"An eye for an eye, Red."

"This is more like an eye for a kidney."

"I think that's an over exaggeration."

"It was just a lemon tart."

"It's just a keychain."

"It's…a special keychain,” he says awkwardly.

"Really?" She cradles it in her palm to take a closer look before that impish smile is back. "All the more reason for me to keep it."

Nathaniel darts forward and catches her with an arm around her waist as she tries to run again. She shrieks as he tries to reach for her hand, but the sound is interlaced with a laugh and something about it has a sort of juvenile excitement taking to his chest. He finds himself laughing along with her as Chloé twists to face him and clasps the bumblebee in a fist behind her back.

He captures her hand in his own, and only then realizes he has both his arms around her. Mischievous eyes lock with his from only a breath away. A thundering heart beats against his own. Some instinctual part of him steals a glance at glossy red lips, still curled in that devious smile.

“You got me,” she mocks. “Now what?”

Voice still slightly winded, but calm, “Give it back.”

“No.” She says the word so simply, but something about it melts under his skin, sinks into his bones.

“Why?”

“I told you I’d make you regret it.”

“I regret…” he glances her over, a speck of doubt in his own words, “...nothing.”

Her gaze trails down somewhere below his eyes. “...I might.”

“10! 9! 8!”

Electric blue eyes snap back to him. “We’re missing the countdown,” she warns in a low tone, but she hardly seems to care herself.

“7! 6! 5!”

He only tightens his arms around her, voice dropping to match hers. “I’m not letting you walk away until you give me back my keychain.”

“4! 3!”

“Tell you what,” she says as that devious curl returns to her lips.

“2!”

Cool fingers slide into place at the back of his neck. “I’ll trade you for it.” And she tugs him in.

“1!”

The kiss is so breathtaking it’s stupid. He sinks into it more than he would like to admit, even recaptures her lips for another when it breaks. There’s cheering and popping and clinking in the background, but the first moment of his new year is occupied solely by a stunning gold dress, a challenging blue gaze, and a devious red smirk.

They part slightly winded, but he still doesn’t let her go. “Are you going to give it back now?”

That smile is toying with him and a greater portion of himself than he would like to admit is very okay with that. “I said I’d trade you for it. I never said what for.”

“So that kiss was…?”

Tantalizing words ghosting his ear, she leans in to whisper, “Just for fun.”

A tiny huff of amusement escapes him before he can think to stop it. “So what do you want?”

Chloé takes a moment to look him over, glancing between his eyes in some kind of assessment. Her gaze drops to where her thumb traces his bottom lip. “More,” she eventually decides before looking back up at him. “I’ll give you your keychain back if you go on another date with me.”

“Another?” A slight grin cracks at the corner of his mouth. “Implying this was one?”

“If you want to argue semantics, that’s your problem.” The way she tilts her head all but demands he kiss her again and she knows it. “I’ve stated my terms. Do you accept?”

He’s already leaning in again before he speaks the words against her lips.

“I accept.”

I was looking at the MLB wiki for transcripts when I spotted a picture of LadyBlue (that butterfly girl that supposed to appear in Miraculous World: Rio) and it turns out, she's a character belonging to this other show called Pixiegirl.

Honestly this picture is giving ChloNath vibes. But the girl (Pixiegirl) looks like if Chloe and Rose had fused together.
