Hart House, 602 W Huntington Dr, Monrovia, CA 91016

Hart House is Kevin Hart’s plant-based, quick service restaurant. It reminds me of a plant-based version of Shake Shack – similar menu but vegan. Choose from burg’rs and chick’n sandwiches, chick’n nuggets, salads, sides, shakes, cookies, and drinks.

Order at the counter. The food takes longer than a fast food restaurant. It took 10 minutes to get my chick’n sandwich. Help yourself to utensils and napkins. Beverages come with free refills. You can customize your sandwich with a choice of sauce, addition of cheese, or sub the bun with lettuce.

Hot n’ crispy chick’n sandwich ($7.99 for the sandwich, add a drink and a side for $4.50): Crispy Chick’n dipped in House Hot Sauce, with plant-based mayo, pickles. It was wrapped nicely. The fake chicken patty was thicker and bigger than the kind you can buy in the store but had a similar flavor profile. It was better than the ones you get in the store – not as dry and crispier. Also liked the heat from the hot sauce and the generous amount of sour pickles. I didn’t notice the mayo, so they must have only put a little on. The bun was warm and slightly sweet (brioche?). Instructions

Preheat your oven to 450 degrees Fahrenheit.

Combine 3 tablespoons of melted cooking fat, 6 minced garlic cloves, 3 tablespoons of chopped fresh rosemary leaves, and the juice and zest of 1 lemon in a baking dish. Start with 1 teaspoon each of sea salt and freshly ground black pepper and add more salt or pepper to taste. Add the 2 ½ pounds of boneless, skinless chicken breasts cut into 1 ½ inch chunks, and mix well to coat.
