If you ever go into traditional art in any way, then we HEAVILY suggest investing in a good ruler. A metal one, without the rounded edges that you'll see in some stores. You WILL want its assistance in drawing straight edges, you WILL want to be able to reliably measure any piece of paper you might need to cut down to size, you'll probably use it far more often than you'd expect, and the durability of a metal ruler will mean you will almost definitely never have to replace it and also let you use it as a multitool for anything that may require a flat hunk of metal.

#we speak #a ruler is a normal & appropriate object to open a package with and dont let anyone tell you otherwise #this psa brought to you by: we spent like two hours looking for a metal ruler with all flat edges a few months ago #and we consider this time & effort investment to be 100% worth it. the ruler itself was like ten bucks btw #this way we dont fuck up our good knives when we need to cut through shit like tape. invest in a flat hunk of metal today! #we used to have a different ruler that we used for like 7 years but our dad took it when we moved and we dont think we're getting it back #plastic rulers are fine short term but they dont last and you cannot use them as a multitool unless you like shattered plastic #weirdly specific stances on things time now. we are metal ruler advocates here.

Your tag! I know it’s ~just~ a dream but Buck deserves his moment with his sisters abuser. I bet there’s so much he’s always wanted to say and never felt able to but now that he’s standing right in front of him?

Also, what if we get a visual representation of his words in 2.01? He shifts so he’s standing right between Maddie and Doug and he repeats what he said to her when she first told him the truth.

The image of him literally standing there like a wall between Maddie and Doug would be amazing (I wonder if Oliver's taller than Brian?) because the last time Buck would've seen him, he would have been a teenager--the only family Maddie had at her wedding--and he didn't know what he knows now; Doug kidnapped Maddie - he stabbed Chim - he stabbed Maddie and left her with the trauma of both his abuse, and her having to kill him in self-defence. And Buck's so proud of her for not giving up, but you know he'd hate that she was ever in that position in the first place :')

Buck blames himself for a lot of things too -- and I've always wondered if some of his yelling at his parents in 4x04 ("You should've known!" etc) was aimed at himself a little too. Maddie's the only one in his family who loved him/cared about him, and Buck just didn't know what was happening.

And in the years of no contact, he obviously assumed it was what Maddie wanted, and he just sent postcards in the end--but with hINDSIGHT he must have wondered what might have been different if he'd just turned up on their doorstep one day.

Buck's not a kid anymore, and Doug is right there in front of him. Like???? the possibilities????? are??? wild!?!?! I can't wait.
