Oof, thinking about orca Rollo going through his mating season- he’s a whiny, clingy mess, turning over onto his back so you can see his cock creeping out through his slit and leaking heavy doses of precum. He’s never had the desire to mate before, but now you’re here and he’s just so in love with you, won’t you give him some relief? He’s so desperate that he even reverts back to speaking in clicks and whistles in hopes to attract you, using traditional mating calls with no thought in his head that you more than likely won’t understand him. It’s no surprise that when he gets close enough (if you’re not overbearingly careful that is, he’ll even go as far as to breach and launch himself to try and get to you if you’re away from his pool) he makes sure you end up in the water with him, clicking and whining at you as he shreds your clothes and holds you in a tight embrace as he swims on his back with you on top of him. Don’t be scared, he’ll take good care of you and make sure you feel good too! He’s just so impatient to breed you full and get you pregnant.
(⊙_⊙) anon, this is so yummy omg....... I have not been able to think of anything else since I read your ask AAAAAAAAA. Orca Rollo brain rot is so real omg!!!!!
He's just so big, so you can only fit just a few inches of his cock inside. orz he tries to assure you it will be okay, but he's so overwhelmed with the desire to mate that he forgets to speak in your language. Instead, all you hear are soft, sweet clicks. Rollo who pats your thigh and massages your hip encouragingly, patiently waiting for you to adjust. Maybe while on top of him you lie on your stomach with his cock still thrust up inside you.
Even though you know he'd never hurt you, you've never experienced a Rollo driven by the urge to breed, and so you shakily move your hips in hopes of satisfying him. You don't want to upset him when he's this sensitive. It even starts to feel good after a while! He pats you on the head and you think he's saying kind things in his language. It's hard to tell, but the look in his eyes is soft, albeit glazed over with lust. He's surprisingly gentle. You can't imagine the amount of restraint he must have to be able to prevent himself from being too rough.
Your species probably aren't compatible anyway, so you suppose you might as well let him get it out of his system. It comes as a shock later on when you start showing signs of pregnancy, though. Perhaps you were compatible after all. :)

sorry for saying i was going to live blog my reactions to the show, i over-estimated my attention span and under-estimated my excitement lmao
anyway so um What The Ever-Loving Fuck
ineffable bureaucracy is… real?? like really actually real?? what the fuck?!?!! i thought it was just a crack ship but i guess neil saw it and went huh that’s pretty nice actually because THEYRE REALLY ACTUALLY REAL OH MY GOD. i will say despite being really cute, i thought they were a bit cringe at the end, it could’ve been less lovey dovey because those characters just… aren’t? like that?? but the buildup with them meeting up was absolutely GORGEOUS and so cute and so romantic and just… yeah i love them. i think they probably would have been a bit more awkward / reluctant to admit feelings rather than “baby i love you so much you are my heaven you are my hell my darling sweet beloved” but hey. they were cute. NEW SHIP LET’S GO
nina and maggie were really really cute because of the actresses’ chemistry but pretty underdeveloped in my opinion. still i really enjoyed when they were on screen together, i just had different expectations (i was expecting like a romcom, azriaphale and crowley trying to put them together throughout the season, which was eluded to but then just… didn’t happen i guess). still they were very sweet and i really really liked them
saraquel is great, michael’s hair was terrible, uriel is the hottest character, beelzebub’s new look was cool as fuck, i love the repeated gag of that one demon who just seems to have infinite versions of himself and REECE SHEARSMITH DEMON CHARACTER LET’S GO!?!?!! i was not expecting him to have a significant role again and he was so good, furfur is literally amazing and as an inside no 9 fan seeing him and steve pemberton was soooo much fun
we’re all agreeing that the flashbacks were the best part right?? because they were the best part
shax is my silly little pathetic little skrunkly who talks like a constipated snake and looks like a milf wearing leather that squeaks when she moves. truly a blorbo to behold
crowley’s confession was the most perfect in-character thing i have ever seen and i am SO happy with the way it was written and performed, him almost crying and then grunting in frustration i just i can’t i w AAAAAAAAA IT WAS PERFECT
aziraphale’s realisation was also perfect. sheen is so freaking good at being adorable and smitten
the plot was… odd. every actor was amazing, the visuals were amazing, the jokes were hilarious, every episode was extremely enjoyable to watch… but it just felt a little half-baked to me. every scene was tight and again, really fun, but the overarching plot was kind of…??? i’m not a professional writer by any stretch of the imagination but i’m allowed to have an opinion, and my opinion is pretty damn mixed when it comes to the season arc. there’s obviously going to be a season 3 (i say, literally begging neil gaiman on my knees while screaming and sobbing) and so i think season 2 felt so slow and uneventful because it’s supposed to be a kind of bridge between big plotlines. because so much interesting stuff was picked up and then simply put down again. or kind of just… left to float aimlessly in the air and make me confused as to why and how some of it even happened. but honestly i trust neil and the other writers and creatives so… season 3 here we come! overall i really enjoyed it a lot, but the (modern day) plot was just a bit of a weird one for me
AND FINALLY TO ADDRESS THE FUCKING ENORMOUS ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM. IF I HAD A GODDAMN NICKEL-

Hey Cath, how was Hozier???
i’m glad you asked!!!!!!!
- got so excited i cried
- chatted with a nice drunk british woman because we were both lost
- Madison Cunningham is really good!!!!!
- everyone sang along to season of the sticks while house lights were up and they were still setting up
- he came on and i almost started crying again
- started with de selby which was crazy esp the transition from pt 1 to pt 2
- next was “from eden” which was accompanied by a lot of happy screaming
- taught us to sing “to be alone,” saying “it doesn’t have to be perfect on the first try”
- we didn’t do very well
- he said “i was kinda lying about that”
- jackie and wilson was crazy
- so was francesca (I’D TELL HIM PUT ME BACK IN IT!!!!!!!)
- dinner and diatribes was really fun
- damage gets done? more like DAMNage gets do- okay. okay. yes i’m sorry. i’ll see myself out
- movement. wow. oh my god
- the lights on cherry wine were amazing plus he let us sing a verse of it
- would that i is my dad’s favorite and the “woah-oh-oh-ohs” from the audience sounded incredible
- he gave a heartfelt speech about the sacrifice the choctaw people made for the irish after the trail of tears, because we were in choctaw nation
- this directly preceded butchered tongue which made me cry
- he said “we do have a joke about having this next song to sort of lighten the mood a bit & bring some levity to this part of the set, er, so, here’s a song i wrote about seeing an animal get hit by a car as a child”
- he then played abstract (psychopomp)
- everyone singing along to “see how it shines” sounded AMAZING
- like real people do was sweet bc the lesbian couple in front of us kissed & you could tell it was like a special song for them
- almost sweet music AAAAAAAAA
- eat your young was really cool and accompanied by some nice visuals
- first light. you guys. you would have died
- take me to church was the song in which i lost my voice because i screamed so much
- they then left and i got really sad
- SURPRISE ENCORE!!!!!
- they did nina cried power which was amazing to hear live & the backup singer killed it!!!!
- unknown/nth, hhhhhhhh ohhhhh my godddddd
- everyone sang along in the bridge to that one
- he did the closer with madison cunningham, which was work song, which sounded beautiful
- bought 2 shirts and a bag that said “to share the space with simple living things”
- best first concert ever.

@eliounora has been watching Merlin and blogging about it and it's been pretty delightful, and has helped remind of all the things that I liked about this show <3 I was pretty frustrated about the ending when I first watched it, and even though I've since made peace with it and even kinda appreciate the way the whole final season feels like a classic tragedy - the inescapable self-destructive path Merlin is on, and has been on since his very first meeting with the bloody dragon* - it's also really fun to remember all the things I loved about it.
Most notably I am reminded Gwaine exists, and Leon, and Percival, and that the knights were absolutely delightful and also that there's some extremely good gangbang fic out there uwu But also especially how much I love MerGwaine they are so silly and so tragic and so hot and so sad and it's so damn fun. It's like a love triangle except everyone involved knows that it's not gonna work out and is determined to make the best of it while it lasts. Merlin for whom Arthur will always come first, even and especially at the expense of his own sanity. Gwaine who is Merlin's best friend and also his silly rabbit and also loyal to Arthur and who knows he will always come second. The SPICE. The PINING (even though they bang), the SORROW of being third wheel in a doomed, unhealthy, self-destructive relationship you have no way to save. Watching Merlin's slow descent into obsessive madness and being unable to do anything about it. Aaaaaaaaa fucking GWAINE man
*(I also desperately want to talk about the dragon and the way he is not anyone's friend but his own I have some FANTASTIC Kilgarah meta but I'm gonna wait until eliounora is done with the series bc it's hard to talk about him without getting pretty damn spoilery hahah)

⚠️WARNING: GOOD OMENS 2 EPISODE 1&2 SPOILERS UNDER THE CUT!!⚠️
I need to get my live reactions out because I am LOSING IT. Do not read beyond this point if you don’t want spoilers for the first two episodes!!!
I am going insane after the prime premiere so here are my insane ramblings externalized:
THE COLD OPEN IN EPISODE 1 KILLED ME IN MY SEAT INSTANTLY
THE NEBULA. ANGEL CROWLEY (whose name we don’t get, ofc, that made me laugh). HE WAS SO EXCITED AND AZIRAPHALE’S “I WOULD HATE TO SEE YOU GET INTO TROUBLE” AND THE W I N G.
The fjuckin. WING. I AM UNWELL. I AM GOING INSANE JUST THINKING ABOUT IT
AAAAAAAAAA
And then the title music played and I apologized to my friend that I dragged to the premiere for being Extremely Not Normal. And then told her it Would Get Worse.
GOOD OLD FASHIONED LOVER BOY, IM-
Maggie: Oh nooooo, we’re locked in the coffee shop together,,, what will we doooooo (every fanfic author in the room just got so many ideas.)
Hm. Lindsey, huh? Hmmmmm.
That’s uh. Not a normal amount of texts. That seems a bit Not Great. I’m watching you Lindsey. I haven’t seen you yet but I am watching
THE APOLOGY DANCE AHSHDJFJF!!! Stan Pines and Crowley have something in common apparently. Also. Aziraphale what do you mean you had to do it in 1941. what were those other times. Where did this come from. I need EXPLANATIONS.
There’s no way their two-halves-make-a-whole miracle is what set off alarms in heaven. Gabriel Absolutely Did Something.
There are too many flies in the book shop for this to NOT come back to Beelzebub somehow
Re: Beelzebub- why ask Crowley to keep them in the loop if Shax already asked him that? Are they just not communicating, or is this somehow connected to Beelzebub???
My heart fuckin stopped when Gabriel started singing Everyday.
Crowley. Crowley I need you to repeat that bit about Jane Austen. CROWLEY YOU CAN’T JUST DROP THAT, I-
Good to know that scene overlooking the ocean was in fact as emotionally intense as expected. aaaAAAAAA
Re: Job minisode- “I’m a demon. I lied.” Gives a whole new fuckin context to the “Would I lie to you” “You’re a demon” from season 1. AaaAAAA
Another one from that minisode: Aziraphale thinking that heaven could be convinced to not destroy the earth if they just understood properly in season 1… aziraphale being disgusted by human food and drinks until he was tempted to try it and understood… Mr Gaiman I am in your walls for this
Anthony J “You can’t kill kids” Crowley strikes again. And we still don’t get clarification on what kind of kids he meant, which is incredible honestly. Plus, the goats were adorable :)
How is the jukebox doing the same thing as the Bentley. Is this a “every record eventually turns into Everyday in the same way music left in a car too long turns into Best of Queen” or is this a Pointed Thing
Have I mentioned that I would die for Muriel? I would die for Muriel. It has been two episodes and I simply adore the low ranking sunshine angel.
They are so fucking married
“OUR CAR” “OUR BOOKSHOP” they are so fucking married. Crowley why are you sleeping in your car, pls it’s OUR bookshop 😭😭😭
Aziraphale took drivers tests before they were cool (aka mandatory) 🙄 come on Crowley keep up
Aziraphale driving the Bentley is something I didn’t know I needed and yET-
First the “naked man friend” comment and then a random guy stealing the seat across from Aziraphale in the pub… rip crowley
Gabriel with the Terry Pratchett paperback… Gabriel reading off the first line of Good Omens… wait the book exists in the world of the show- Aziraphale owns the book in the world of the show- what
Never thought “Archangels don’t know where babies come from” would be a plot point and yet. Here we are.
Pausing one more time to go absolutely feral over the ending of the Job minisode because that played my heartstrings like a FIDDLE. “I’m like you now” “I’m a fallen Angel” and “I’m not here to take you to hell, don’t think you’d like it”; “I’m on my own side” “Sounds lonely” and “I’m a demon. I lied.”; how heckin PRETTY THE WHOLE SCENE WAS
someone please send help because idk how I’m going to be normal after this.
Okay, scheduling this for a little after the episodes drop and spoiler tagging like crazy! SOON, THE REST!!!

@frosty-tian sorry it took a day!! But here is the OC I was talking about!!
Yuukoku Echo (he/they)
An Occult Jr. High student (Yuukoku Hiroyuki's cousin) but he and Kageno haven't known each other until they went to the same high school by chance (same place where handa and max also went to). He's transmasc, chose his now legal name "Echo" and really loves watching soccer...
I haven't finalized what they look like in my head other than having deep bags under their eyes and being goth but they like making creepy halloween props from scraps when they were young. He's an artist with a lot of creepy decorations in his room. Loves drawing eyes. Lots of variations of eyes (he created Hiroyuki's headband). He and Kageno had a really slowburn romance in high school but just in a chill way, they just found out they clicked one day and stuttered their ways into confessing to each other.
He's really shy and expresses himself more through his art and makeup (which honestly scares a lot of people). They wanted to have their own gallery where people can look at their art.
He and Kageno started a scary inatube account together in high school initially about showing scary things but Kageno found his passion in camera work and scene-visualizing and he found doing practical effects enjoyable.
He and Kageno initially created short films in inatube where max, handa, and their other friends help in or star sometimes when they were in college. Due to how difficult college has been for the both of them (Kageno being bullied, Echo's professors don't like their style), they decided to dedicate their time to making movies and they created a lot of indie ones (they didn't pay well, good thing they have friends and family to help in things <3). They usually incorporate soccer and horror in their works for obvious reasons and it helped that their professional athlete friends were willing to star in their movies without much cost (especially their richer friends) and that does pull in the viewers but it makes the both of them sad that they needed to do that to have more audience even if they tell amazing stories with amazing visuals :( but they continue because they love their art <3
In my story, Kaleidoscope's timeline (1 year after inago), he was already semi-known as a practical effects artist/director by the time Kageno had her (Kageno is transfemme in this story; she/they) directoral debut with the series "Inazuma Eleven" that tells their own story (which is literally just the entire first season of the inazuma eleven that we, the fans, watched with an added 5 episode from me) but of course with a young cast. This was a secret request of the youth soccer association to her and she took it because of it's for a good cause. Echo in this story would appear a lot with Kageno but only as a background character because he doesn't have that much weight in this story other than being a helper for the re-strengthening Japanese youth soccer project alongside Kageno and the rest of their staff. It doesn't stop my head from creating an elaborate backstory for him and Kageno though asdasdasd
THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR ASKING I LOVE HIM VERY DEARLY!!!
Although I'm really having kagemon thoughts now so, I'm really thinking hard about this aaaaaaaaa...
More details about Kaleidoscope here if you ever need it!

(I didnt wanna bother novafire if we kept going-) BUT YEA FUCKIN. I don't mind the exchange student thing because Rebel kid actually from a rich-ass family who just did the most INSANE shit (GOING SOMEWHERE ELSE ALL ON HER OWN? AND THEN REGULARLY DISAPPEARING ON HER FOSTER PARENTS?) is really fun for me personally.
BUT THERE IT IS! Look! Right there! We get a GLIMPSE into a lot more of her character, ONE time. The piano lessons and the two cats at home and her Loving Parents. And then NOTHING. We could have had so much orz. What are her parents like. What does she feel (more in depth) about her family. Does she not miss her kitties? Does she really miss home or is the experience here so much better she honestly doesn't miss it? Is she having a WILD case of "would rather assimilate here and is shedding a lot of her culture to do it because she honestly believes it's better here" because that can have So much to unpack in there.
As for "conflict bait" I wish she has other reasons for running in. Chasing action is all fine but after 3 times anyone would have enough braincells to be a lil more hesitant. They could make her still be the one taking the risk but maybe for different reasons! It worked when she was worried for Bulkhead in TMI. I just. AAAAAAAAA MS NAKADAI
EXACTLY The exchange student thing mainly bugs me because to qualify for a program (esp in Japan) she'd need really good grades and it's obvious she's not doing well in school by the time the show happens. Now I have no trouble buying that she's a "gifted kid" because same, and honestly that angle would have been so compelling, but with her grades slipping she'd likely have to return to Japan if she fails the program, and yet with that incredibly interesting personal stake the show does NOTHING. Making her an immigrant would have at least removed that issue, but yeah there's so much more they could have been doing with her. As much as I enjoy Jack and Raf, they're a tad...boring lmao, Jack especially, and yet they get way more development and relevance than her. Like COME ON. AND HER RELATIONSHIP WITH BULKHEAD I love them so much, but the most we really got were in Rock Bottom and TMI, not much beyond season 1 as I recall. I've personally written and roleplayed their characters together and it's an entire WELL of opportunity. Bulkhead also deserved so much better tbh. They touched on his insecurity a little but then he kinda got relegated to the background. He and Miko's dynamic is like "smart but young and reckless" and "'''dumb''' but old and cautious" and there's so much you can do with that

Attack on Titan thoughts
last night i saw the finale of attack on titan and shared some meandering thoughts on the series on twitter, but i'm reposting it here because twitter is dead and sucks.
spoilers, of course
---
man.... maaaaaan.... is that the ending everybody complained about and said ruined the series? really? that was about as perfect and justifiable an ending as anyone could hope for. aaaaaaaaa im gonna slap someone
god... GODDDD... SLAP SLAP
alright i'm gonna use this thread to wax thoughts on the series
---
so i remember when this series started, it was a huge ass phenomenon. you could not escape it. but personally i wasn't entirely on board
i watched the first season, i got the appeal enough, yadda yadda giant freaky naked guys. i didn't hate it, but just found it kinda dry and unengaging. there was a vague horror aspect which i wasn't particularly into, some dry politics, and that was about it.
so the fanaticism and meme-ry was just something i witnessed from the sidelines. then like... years went by without a season 2, and it all just kinda died down mostly. (if i was clever i would say it was... rumbling... below the surface.... but i don't feel like it)
anyways that 2nd season finally dropped, and it kinda felt like an instant difference? like it finally felt like the story was gaining traction. it still had the mystery thing going, but it also kinda stared focusing more on character relations.
so the 2nd season is when i finally got on board with the series and engaged with the plot and characters. ... of course, the 2 leading characters of the season end up completely benched soon after, which i'm still kinda salty about.
the rest is a rollercoaster, i dunno.
---
but eventually the series swaps to a new production studio, which i was a little concerned about, cause Wit did a great job, but Mappa picked it up and knocked it out the park.
the whole "final season" thing ending up as multiple seasons and multiple specials is silly as hell, but the results speak for themselves and the final product was excellent.
the final season starts from a completely different perspective, which seems like a perfect spot for production to have changed. it's a bit jarring, characters don't look *quite* how you remember, but you get used to it.
youtube
this ED... luv it. listened it it a bunch. very sweeping, a perfect last emotional beat to lead each episode into. (plus i'm only just now realizing the foreshadowing of the bird imagery.) mwah.
---
so by the 3rd season on, it's clear the series it hitched on twists and poetic character interconnections. i love that shit. yeah, characters dealing with the results of their actions through the people their actions have affected. that's the good shit gimme that
what i like about this series is that it feels like the directions it takes were thought out and planned ahead? seems like an obvious thing to do with a story, but it's fleetingly rare under the maniac workload of weekly manga production, so you take what you can get.
but i feel the series would still have rewatch value, even after you know the mysteries and twists, because you can refocus on the actions of the characters, knowing the secrets they're hiding, seeing the little clues you never noticed previously. that is good.
---
my friend, who wasn't particularly into anime, got really into the 1st season (it's a gateway series afterall), but fell off with the 2nd season... so complete opposite of me... we argued about it a couple times lol
he's mumbling about the secret of the basement, how it's not a big surprise, and im like.... you are like a tiny baby... you cannot fathom the directions this series takes
and it absolutely does go wild places leading into the final arc, enough to reasonably say it jumped the shark or whatever. but at that point it's a rollercoaster and it's all a means to an end to get the story where it wants to be.
---
and the ending. fuck, for *years* i been hearing how bad it was. {spoilers} did people really want eren to live or something? c'mon. he's clearly miles beyond redemption by that point. and it still tries throwing him a vaguely sympathetic bone in the end you can take or leave.
don't be so clingyyyy about characterssss. not every character needs to be a beacon of moral light, and not everyone needs to get a happy ending. even if you still really like the character, let the narrative take them in the direction it needs to take.
the final scenes of time passing gets very existential. it shows that, despite all hardships, it was all just a spec of sand in the hour glass of time. despite the struggles and victories for peace, war still found its way back around again.
the final shot of the boy and the dog walking toward the tree where eren is buried mirrors ymir's accidental finding of titan powers. the suggestion is it's all cyclical, and the struggle of titans will inevitably begin again, as it reasonably happened even before ymir's time.
i think that's kinda poetic. i like it. leaves you wondering what it's all for. it's nice when an ending leaves you thinking about things.
Tumblr media
anyways this rant is aimless and no one's reading. but i'm gonna go ahead and call this shit a masterpiece, idgaf. it's not perfect, maybe not a top fav, but it doesn't need to be. it hits those strong emotional notes cleanly and consistently, and that makes my dog brain happy.
the end.

About Episode 15
Of a Starstruck Odyssey.
Honestly kinda scared, I don’t think I’ve ever been nervous about how a season is going to go. Maybe because this is my first time watching a season as it unfurls. I’m so excited though, because these guys seem so crazy, so random and chaotic, that I have total faith that they can pull this off no problem.  They fought a Vercadian Protector Droid out of sheer will and spite (?) so I have faith that they can pull off a simple jail break. Also, I really really really want to see more interactions between Skip and Norman, not because I think Norman should be redeemed; but because I think it would be super funny.

My #1 post of 2022
A theory
Maybe, just maybe. The reason we don’t see foxy or bonnie in security breach is because they were the biggest threats to William. Foxy is almost always associated with Michael. So foxy must leave to get rid of the pyrotechnic. Bonnie seems to be the most aggressive, so he must be recalled as well. (To many rabbits to keep track of, Afton you silly bunny, he’s just as aggressive as you) The new kids (Roxy and Monty) would be easier to manipulate as well. It would be impossible to throw away Freddie the ringleader because he is the face of the company (perhaps Henry was better at the business side of things) So he would be powerless without his band. Chica was the first, so perhaps she would be more aware, or perhaps not, perhaps she will be tricked just as always.

SU Music Rankings
Bc I can and I wanna start some Disk Horse rip. These are all in order of preference, with explanations, etc. It’s a long bitch. That said, I’m not counting little short jingles or small joke songs like Little Butler. This is the meat and potatoes of SU music- just under 30 songs. I might do the rest if people like my takes lol.
I scored it mostly on three bases- how dear it was to my heart, how much/often I relisten to it, and also what it means to the plot. That said, little fun songs don’t automatically go farther down than big, plot-heavy songs either! It’s a strange little balance.
Special Note: I don’t dislike any of this music! I love SU and that includes its bumps and glitches. I just pick favorite children lol.
Tumblr media
1.) Change
Was there ever a more Steven moment than when he wiped the blood off his face and kissed it into sparkles? I think not.
If “Be Wherever You Are” is an ode to young Steven, then this is teen Steven’s. Talking about change, and how much and how little it can do. How he holds his arms up for Spinel to hug him, so trusting. How he seems able to just. Break into soft tears at will, and not to be manipulative- it’s just his kind nature. The warmth in his voice. Fuck yesssss.
Tumblr media
2.) Change Your Mind
This song is only fifty five seconds and it’s EVERYTHING to me. It really felt like someone was speaking the words I’d always held deep inside of me, unsure of how to say. It feels like a goodbye to someone who never really loved me.
As much as I enjoyed Future, if this was the finale of SU, I would’ve been perfectly okay with that.
Tumblr media
3.) Drift Away
This song gave me legitimate shivers the first time I heard it, and it still haunts me to this day. Spinel stayed, and waited, and all she got was a transmission thousands of years later. Fuck.
Tumblr media
4.) Here We Are In The Future
THE MOVIE IS SU AS ITS BEST AND I WON’T BE SWAYED ON IT. Steven being a teen who loves his weird family but is growing just a bit sarcastic to their drama. The adorable love he and Connie share. His slow realization that he will always be working, always have things to do, is both somber and real. The Crystal Gems won’t be safe with one epic battle. They’ll be safe with years of hard work and love. HIS LITTLE HANDSHAKE WITH AMETHYST.
This is a helluva bop and a great way to summarize the main character’s backstories.
Tumblr media
5.) Let’s Only Think About Love
Did ya’ll know that Zach Callison killed his throat with that last note? He gave his all for this performance in a vocal range he no longer comfortably do and by god did it SHINE. The FLAIR. The FORESHADOWING. All of the Gems all being awkward about Rose and Steven trying to bring them to the present. Peridot having a mini-existential crisis in a cute yellow dress. I love Zach Callison’s normal singing voice but man is that a fucking bop. Nothing will ever beat it.
Tumblr media
6.) Here Comes A Thought
This bad boy helped me out a LOT with some mental issues I was dealing with in high school. I was unmedicated, unsupervised, and full of anxiety. I’d have break downs when I tried to speak about certain things. I couldn’t function. This song inspired me. It helped me feel okay with my intrusive thoughts.
And the episode! -chef’s kiss-. Once again bringing up the morally gray area of training child soldiers. Connie expanding her social group. Steven’s trauma hauling ass in that second half. The ANIMATION. Stevonnie’s gorgeous singing voice. GOD yes.
Tumblr media
7.) It’s Over Isn’t It?
Just barely squeaking above Stronger Than You, this ballad is everything gorgeous. The whole episode is. I think Mr. Greg stands in the top five of my episodes for the entire show. It even got nominated!
There’s just so much about this song that I love. The gentle melancholy of Pearl’s voice. How the crew had to redo the shots for this bit bc Deedee went so fucking hard. The hard cuts between Pearl, remembering the love of her life, and Steven, who has begun to feel like he took her away. I’d recommend this song to anyone, regardless of what they do or don’t know about SU, simply bc it tugs so many heartstrings of love, loss, and responsibility.
Tumblr media
8.) Stronger Than You
Did you realize this episode aired SEVEN years ago? This bitch was what got me into SU! Hearing about Ruby and Sapphire made my little gay heart so happy inside, and then getting a whole song confirming that they were a couple, that their love powered the strongest Gem on the team? Aaaaaaaaa
To this DAY I get excited when I hear Estelle start singing. This song is timeless. This song will live in media history. God I fucking love this song.
Tumblr media
9.) Other Friends
I’m not the biggest musical person, so I hadn’t heard of Sarah Stiles before her casting as Spinel, but JESUS CHRIST the lady went hard. She went SO fucking hard. Sarah Stiles started on 100 and somehow just kept CLIMBING. You can just hear the sheer manic energy building in her voice, the anger and resentment. 10/10 Sarah Stiles is a queen.
Tumblr media
10.) Independent Together
This made the list entirely bc the crew was like “you’re gonna get a himbo ass Steven-Greg fusion singing with Opal while Garnet flies across the moon on Lion while floating” and I am forever thankful to them for it
Tumblr media
11.) Who We Are
Bismuth deserved more songs. ‘Nuff said.
Tumblr media
12.) Peace and Love (On the Planet Earth)
It Could’ve been Great is EASILY one of my favorite s2 episodes. I love the entire concept of this song. Of Steven making music to reflect how much Earth means to him and his family. Of him teaching Peridot some self-care. Also Peridot’s singing voice is really cute and squeaky.
I know it’s silly, but I would’ve really enjoyed a flip around of this in Future! Like Peridot reminding Steven how much he loves music, that he needs to take time to relax for himself, maybe with a new verse or just a remix of the original song!
Tumblr media
13.) Something Entirely New
I watched this episode as it aired, and I legitimately almost cried. I love Charlyne Yi’s voice so much ya’ll- her raspy, not perfect singing voice against Sapphire’s deep soothing lull is great.
And to have Ruby and Sapphire’s meeting be the way it was- for Ruby to bemoan Sapphire losing Homeworld, to being stuck with a single Ruby, while Sapphire is a noble who has always been taught everyone in her “caste” is vitally important (and has, in her own mind, taken that to mean every Gem, as she should) and how they come together and make each other happy. Good shit good shit.
Tumblr media
14.) I’m Just a Comet
The fact that Greg’s music career never really blasted off pisses me off to this day bc Tom Scharpling’s voice is fucking BUTTER. Also the song really feels like a jab at his parents now that we know the kind of dynamic he had growing up. “This life in the stars if all I’ve ever known” is definitely him wiping away their existence after reminding them (and himself) the things they used to say about him.
Tumblr media
15.) Do It For Her
This episode. This fucking episode. This episode got me permanently hooked on SU. I’d just binged season 1 and was kinda meh about it overall after the bop of Stronger Than You. “Oh,” I thought to myself, foolishly, “I’ll probably just casually watch this from time to time.”
Like three days later Sworn to the Sword aired and that was it. I was hooked! Pearl’s gentle training song turning darker and darker, Connie’s accompaniment from nervous to determined to fully into such a toxic mindset. The fact that SU had the BALLS to discuss the repercussions of training child soldiers, now and later. This episode was everything to me, STILL is everything to me.
Six years and well over 100 fanfics written later, I think it’s safe to say this show swallowed me whole and never let go.
Tumblr media
16.) System/Boot.pearl_final(3)
I debated putting this on the list because it’s not anything crazy important, just a way to show things are Wrong, but I had to do it entirely bc Pearl is so damn SALTY.
Like telling us about the Gems makes sense, she felt like she was given a duty, but she went so damn petty. WHY is that Ruby alone. Gross. This Amethyst is a trash dump. Wtf are you people.
Tumblr media
17.) Full Disclosure
This episode really feels like a turning point for SU. Before, the show had its dark moments- but now we’re in the thick of it, and it’s not going away. Full Disclosure felt like an rebuff to the idea of returning to any normal we’d established in season 1. Gems are actually a giant species now. Gems tried to kill us now. There’s this Yellow Diamond bitch who got namedropped. Something about a Cluster.
The song itself is BALLER, with its ingenious use of Steven’s ringtone and photos as he tries to decide whether to clue in Connie on all this nonsense. Meanwhile we, the audience, already know damn well Connie about to yeet some common sense into him.
Tumblr media
18.) What’s the Use of Feeling Blue?
I’mma admit it- I’m a Yellow Diamond stan. I’ve always loved her- her anger, her poise, her hardworking nature. I actively argued against the “Yellow Shattered Pink” theories back in the day. But, man, when this arc leaked? I got so overexcited I was too jittery to watch it for like two days. It’s easily my favorite arc of the series. The sheer alien nature of the zoo, the Famethyst, and absolutely Patti Lupone’s beautiful ballad. Goddamn. Yellow singing to Blue to try and help her regain her old status, the warble in her voice as she reminds Blue she misses Pink too, the movement of the bubbles as she talks about attack. It gives me shivers to this day. FUCK.
Tumblr media
19.) Tower of Mistakes
This is, fun fact, that only SU song I have completely memorized. The story itself is kinda funny! See, we lost internet at my house for a solid 5 to 6 months when these episodes aired, so I only got a very brief window to view them all. But this was the first Amethyst song in a long while, and I didn’t want to forget it! So I keep replaying it in my head for ages. And that’s still definitely a thing.
Anyway will never not be sad that this entire song was about making it up to Garnet for Amethyst’s perceived slights with Sugilite (which was a two-way road), only for Garnet to pressure her into fusion later when pissed and never discuss it again bc Garnet probably never thought twice about it and Amethyst has the emotional openness of a clam that’s just been told its ugly. Helluva way to make someone feel like shit, G. Helluva way to bottle that shit, Ames.
Tumblr media
20.) On the Run
I’ve said it once, I’ve said it a million times: Amethyst! Needed! More! Songs!
The dichotomy between Steven’s play and Amethyst’s honest desire to run away from home is so well-done, especially when you consider a lot of Steven and Amethyst’s actions are playing together. The song is also near and dear to me simply bc it’s my favorite Amethyst episode to exist (well, maybe second to What’s Your Problem, but not by much). Moments like these are all the proof I need that they were right to fuse first.
Tumblr media
21.) Be Wherever You Are
This tune really just feels like an ode to who Steven was as a kid. Trapped on an island with no way home, and he’s just happy to be with his friends. The stars are beautiful and not oppressive. Also that one animatic with Lars and the Off Colors playing in the Homeworld Kindergarten to this music was iconic and made this song get stuck in my head for a solid month.
Tumblr media
22.) Familiar
I ADORE how the crew use bright neon colors to show how alien Homeworld can be. And Steven recognizing that the Diamonds treat him how the CGs used to, and how prepared he is to “fix” a broken family. It’s a soft, gentle tune about melancholy. Also the Pebbles are beautiful.
Tumblr media
23.) Let Me Drive My Van Into Your Heart
Such a cute little love ballad, but every time I listen to it now I just imagine the heart attack Rose must’ve had at the line “And if we look out of place/Well, baby, that's okay/I'll drive us into outer space.” like there’s a Vietnam war flashback if I ever heard one
Tumblr media
24.) What Can I Do?
I’m kind of neutral on this one? Rose and Greg both have great voices, but the song itself lacks many lyrics. I think it was definitely a good way to show Rose’s flaws in thinking.
Also, I’m shocked they managed cram that much vaguely sexual innuendo into two minutes, followed by how Not Hetereo that dance between Rose and Pearl was, and not get their asses chewed by it. You go guys.
Tumblr media
25.) Cookie Cat
I love a lot of the vibes this song has. The lyrics are so damn prophetic, but they also sound like the kind of weird 90s commercials I grew up on. It’s been like two decades since I saw the Shirley Temple commercial but I’ll be damned if I don’t remember “Animals crackers in my soup! Monkey and rabbits loop-de-loop.”
Tumblr media
26.) Giant Woman
I am. NOT the biggest fan of Steven’s original singing voice. I feel bad saying that, since it was just Zach Callison as a kid, but he never jived well with me for some reason. So I wouldn’t listen to this on the fly.
The song itself is still really good though, with all sorts of fun animation of Amethyst and Pearl being bitchy to each other. It’s a bit sad in hindsight to see tiny Steven trying to get his moms to get along. Ahh, season 1.
Tumblr media
27.) Strong in the Real Way
This song has SUCH a strong start. Pearl reflecting on Sugilite’s problems, but the show making sure to show us that Pearl’s lack of enthusiasm towards her also lends itself to jealousy as well as just general malaise. How much she cares about Steven, and wants him to grow up strong.
And then Steven just kinda. Ruins it? I appreciate his enthusiasm for tryna bulk up but to take what was starting as such a rich, personal song and broadcasting it to random strangers just makes me a bit sad. Almost a bit angry on her behalf?
Tumblr media
28.) That Distant Shore
I KNOW this is gonna create some discourse, but I’m just not the biggest Lapis stan. I love her voice. I love the visuals of the song. And I get why she felt afraid and needed to flee.
But Lapis never got to take responsibility for her own actions. And, in the end, the song feels hollow to me- because we all know she’ll never talk to anyone about it, know she’ll burst back in and destroy the barn, and no one will ever question it. I like Lapis a lot, but I feel like her arc never was fully finished. She never got help. She never learned to feel safe.
Tumblr media
29.) Dear Old Dad
I’ve yet to meet a single human being who likes this episode tbh. There’s some great discussion about what kind of parent Greg is from it, and what kind of dynamic he has with the Gems that he felt he had to fake an injury to hang out with his son. Honestly the first half was fine and dandy. It’s just that then they Greg just went out of his way to drag Steven away from missions and such. It never jived well with his character before or after.
Also, is it just me, or does Zach himself sound like he hates the song as he sings it? There’s no passion or heart in his voice. It sounds like they told him to read off cue cards and he did. Tom Scharpling’s best attempts didn’t save this one for being a skipper. But the episode, unfortunately, isn’t, so it gets a spot on here.

Disco 4.07: ...But to Connect
Tumblr media
Well, that was a terrible episode... JUST KIDDING LOL, I LOVED THIS ONE TOO.
Look, there’s plenty of bad-faith criticism of Discovery out there, and sadly too many good-faith bad takes, and way too much boring pissbaby whining—but there are also plenty of valid complaints to make about this show, and I’ve been making plenty of them myself, on this very blog, for three-and-a-half seasons.
The—let’s say “uneven”—quality to date isn’t exactly a surprise, given its clusterfuck of a production history; the well-documented turmoil and turnover in the writer’s room has had an obvious and undeniable impact on the quality of the narrative. (You could even say they’ve had a long road, getting from there to here.)
Everything about this show—the direction, production design, performances, editing, VFX, music—has always been better than the scripts, but it’s not like the scripts were entirely without potential. In fact, the sheer amount of unrealized potential has always been the most frustrating thing to me about Star Trek: Discovery.
Well, I guess I have to find a new most-frustrating thing (and experto credite, I will), because holy fucking shit, y’all… this is what I’ve been saying Disco could be. It’s still not flawless—and they’ve apparently ditched subtlety as thoroughly as they ditched the 23rd century—but I do. not. care. I’m getting one thousand percent more of what I want from this season than I got from the last three seasons combined, and don’t get me wrong—I liked Season 2, and I really liked Season 3—but Season 4 feels like a completely different show. A much, much, much better show.
Buckle up for mid-season spoilers:
Tumblr media
Sorry Michael, but my cat Nora wouldn’t fuck with that little holo-toy either—based on her reaction to laser pointers, she needs something she can sink her teeth into—literally—once she catches it. If she can’t pretend to sever its spinal cord, my picky little princess is not interested.
I guess “The Measure of a Woman” would have been too on-the-nose as a title for this episode? Jokes aside, I like how they seem to be positioning Zora as a Data-esque character: the AI who’s a sweet, well-meaning nerd, who’s also still learning organic social graces. Also, the problem with her attaining sentience isn’t that she’ll turn malicious, or pursue her own inscrutable cyber-agenda, but that she loves the crew so much she’s making irrational choices to protect them? AAAAAAAAA 😭😭😭
It figures that Dr. Kovich—who wears glasses and a tie in the 32nd century like a full-time Ren Faire weirdo—also uses a QWERTY-ass-looking keyboard on his holo-computer.
Tumblr media
And then he dropped his whole CV in that scene like Michelle Paradise is literally reading this blog? (Ha ha, but also… 🥺👉👈)
Cleveland Booker, I love you like only a lesbian can love a fictional man created by another lesbian, but could you please at least skim The Art of War like, once? If Species 10-C can harness the power of hypergiant stars to—I’m guessing here, based on the themes of this season—accidentally slap entire planets to pieces, there probably isn’t much you can accomplish against them with sheer brute force, my guy. I’m also thinking about the wasp nest on my garage 15 years ago that I was going to ignore until winter (out of laziness), and then one of them stung me on the ear while I was putting my bike away and those fuckers were gone by the weekend. If it’s really a five-minute solution, what’s to lose by asking “Why did you blow up my planet” real quick before trying to kick them in the nuts through subspace?
A real delight to have Phumzile Sitole back as Adira’s old boss, General Ndoye, and in a nifty little hat too! Jonathan Frakes, who directed her previous episode, said in an interview that she’d been planning to quit acting when she booked the gig, but she had such a great time on Disco that she decided to stick with it. So it’s extra wholesome to see her again! I especially loved every time someone proposed violence at the forum and the camera just cut to Ndoye silently nodding like “fuck yeah, blow stuff up.” 😂
President Rillak evaded my expectations once again when Michael suggested she had a personal stake in Earth rejoining the Federation, and instead of hiding behind a bland talking point, Rillak said quite candidly that she was both personally and politically invested. (And it turns out she’s got mommy issues too—take a drink!)
I frickin’ loved how Kovich insisted on… uh-oh, here it comes again… absolute candor when sorting out the issues between Zora and the crew. Emotional honesty: it’s not just a good idea, it’s an overarching narrative theme! (Plus: “We always mean well to ourselves, Captain. The problem is what that means for others.” Ooooof.)
I’m pretty sure that they mentioned Control more times in this episode than in the entirety of Season 3.
Gray and Adira standing up for Zora made me cry happy tears. Say what you will, but I think we’re in good hands with Gen ZZ9 Plural Z Alpha here.
The writers are lucky I don’t mind a little massive amount of didactic speechifying in my science fiction, because for real, I’ve read Peter Watts books that were less transparent about giving every single character an entire TED Talk about every relevant philosophical viewpoint on the table. (Blindsight is still my favourite vampire novel, btw.)
I’m glad nobody except Stamets in full Writer’s Devil’s Advocate mode really entertained Zora’s failsafe solution. “If you stop trusting me, just go ahead and summarily execute me” is uhhhh not really how we treat each other around here, Zora!
Tumblr media
Just as I was starting to get sick of Tarka’s shit, he dropped his motive for attacking the DMA—stealing its power source to leave this universe entirely and find his “““friend”””—and Jesus did I ever pivot fast from “this chaotic-neutral mad scientist isn’t quite as endearing as he thinks he is” to just, like, sobbing in my kitchen. I’d say it hit me out of nowhere, but (a) the score reminded me of Jerry Goldsmith’s Star Trek: First Contact theme, one of my favourite pieces of Star Trek music, and (b) I’ve been 1,000 miles from the love of my life for 18 months now because of this fucking pandemic. Tarka might be the most relatable character on this show for me right now. If he’s telling the truth, I hope he gets what he wants—and if he was lying to manipulate Book, I hope Grudge eats his eyeballs.
Speaking of music, I’m pretty sure the theme that played during Paul and Michael’s overlapping speeches has appeared in this season already—I remember finding it unusual to hear so much non-diagetic piano in Star Trek—and maybe even where it changes into the main Disco theme and the woodwinds come in—but combined with the dialogue (or double monologue or whatever) this time around, it really, really hit me.
I did feel like Michael (and/or Rillak?) could have leaned harder on the point that, if first contact with Species 10-C did go awry, they could immediately deploy Tarka’s destructive solution anyway. I’m sure a lot of the pro-violence faction would have agreed that approaching 10-C with a carrot and a stick that big in their back pocket would be a logical move, right? (I know, I know, that’s not what this episode is about, but it was nagging at me the entire time.)
I guess the conflict over leaving Felix at the prison the other week was foreshadowing for Michael and Book being on opposite sides of the vote here. And once again, I’m pretty firmly on one of the sides—Michael’s, this time—but I also feel like I understand the other side, and how they got to their position both intellectually and emotionally, and even though I don’t agree with those conclusions, even though they make my heart feel heavy and sad… I can’t not respect it.
Also, shoutout to the realism of finding yourself on the other side of that kind of ideological gulf from someone you love. There are no good solutions there; the best you can do, I think, is be completely honest with each other and yourselves. And the worst part about Michael and Book’s situation is that they’re already doing that, and I think it’s already done everything it can. 💔 Additional shoutout to the face journeys of both Sonequa Martin-Green and David Ajala for making me feel like my heart got kicked in the stomach.
Anyway. It cracked me up when they established Zora’s personhood by locating her inner clip show device—so we know she’s at least as sentient as Riker, that’s a start. AND SHE’S JOINING STARFLEET??? THIS IS LIT-ER-AL-LY EVERYTHING I’VE EVER WANTED, OMFGGGG 😭😭😭😭😭😭
…though I guess that means Zora doesn’t need Gray as a permanent therapist, awwww. I can’t say I didn’t see it coming, and it’s a storyline that makes sense for him and Adira, but ohhhhh, that goodbye scene was bittersweet. (I’m glad they’ve figured out a way to write queer characters off this show without killing them, lmao.) And Adira knowing, before Gray even had to break it to them, what he wanted to do, and being whole-heartedly supportive and encouraging, was just unspeakably sweet. I’m like twice Adira’s age; how are they such a role model for me?
Tumblr media
Another thing I wanted, never thought I’d get, and appear to be actually getting in spades? A genuine romance storyline with T’Rina and Saru! And according to his Ready Room interview, it was Doug Jones’s own idea? He picked up on some Sa’Rina ~vibes~ when he read the script—vibes that the writers apparently hadn’t put there on purpose—and mentioned them to Tara Rosling, who saw them too, and they played a little bit of tension in their Season 3 scenes… and then the writers picked it up for Season 4! I love that so, so much.
Tumblr media
I seriously can’t stop laughing at the parallels between Book’s decision to go off with Tarka to destroy the DMA and—spoilers for the Netflix reboot of She-Ra, I guess?—Glimmer choosing to activate the Heart of Etheria at the end of that show’s Season 4. In both cases you have a good-hearted but impulsive character who’s suffered a profound loss and feels a responsibility to stop that from happening again… and tries to do so by unleashing a horrific and destructive power that they don’t understand and can’t control, endangering everyone’s lives and alienating their loved ones. (Also, in both cases, you have me yelling at my TV at 6:30 in the morning.)
Honestly, continuing to parallel Glimmer might be the best outcome for Book: spending the first half of Season 5 in a redemption arc apologizing to Michael (and Grudge) would be better than what feels much more likely for him right now: getting swatted out of space by Species 10-C like—well, like a wasp.
Tumblr media
Sparkly princess feelings aside, the “installation” of the spore drive into Book’s programmable-matter interface was by far one of the coolest “oh shit, we’re in the future-future” moments that Disco 2.0 has done yet. More of that too, please. (Finally, my last @ for Book: if you don’t want people calling your ship a “floating bachelor pad,” the very least you could do is give it a NAME they could use instead.)
I wrote this about last year’s finale:
A lot of people were worried Vance was going to turn out to be evil, but I was more worried he was going to end up making a heroic sacrifice for (and/or inspired by) the Disco crew—and he sort of does, but it’s not his life he sacrifices, it’s peace with the Emerald Chain. If the only path to “survival” is as the fraudulently legitimizing façade of benevolence over a corrupt, capitalistic criminal empire, well… that’s the destruction of everything the Federation has ever stood for anyway.
And that’s, by my count, Star Trek: Discovery’s third consecutive season-ending reminder that our principles and ideals, our better natures, must inform every decision we make—every single one, in war and in peace—because a victory that costs you the ability to look at yourself in the mirror isn’t going to feel like a victory at all.
Well. Not only do they seem to be going 4-for-4 on this (profoundly important and perennially relevant) theme, this year they didn’t even wait for the season finale to have Michael Burnham make a big speech about it.
Does that put the back half of this season in uncharted thematic territory? I guess we have to wait five weeks (ughhhhh) to find out. But according to the trailer I saw after the credits, we’ll at least get to see Michael Burnham in some kind of civilian setting tossing around gambling chips like a total fucking badass… so who knows, it might even be worth the wait.

Shamash Answers: Other
For other I asked: I’m coming for Shabbat! What are you making?
THE ANSWERS:
Panic! Pure panic! I've never served a multicourse meal in my life.  And yes, I googled what is normally served at Shabbat to know it's traditionally multicourse.  I'm a one course girl, so Scallop and Mushroom Risotto?  Maybe Za'tar Grilling Cheese and grilled vegetables with couscous?  Oh wait, another website says I'm supposed to do meat.  I don't know...  I can't do my brother's lasagna, because that's pork sasuage and cheese!  So that's a double No can do.  Chicken?!  I would try very hard, but I'd need like a list of do's and don't's to follow, before I could figure out what I'm serving, because I can't remember the ways the ways you and yours, specifically, observe kosher.   -- @uofmdragon
This was incredibly sweet, particularly with the aspects of worrying about my kosher observance (For when I show up on your doorstep, the easy offhand way I describe it to hosts is: I don’t eat pork at all, or red meat and dairy together) And you don’t have to do meat! The idea is just something SPECIAL, making shabbat special, which in the past was usually meat, since that was an expense. SCALLOPS DEFINITELY RATE.
Oh heck oh gosh what do i feel confident enough to feed a DOC HOLLIGAY AAAAAAAAA Well there's going to be challah of course, and bread *and* Holligays both demand soup, and it's winter, so a turnip soup should do! A passable starter, at least. Roasted asparagus and eggplant for vegetable sides, because I love both of these ridiculously temperamental vegetables, but I know I won't be judged too hard if they come out poorly, because temperaments. Our main! Salmon!!!!!!!!!! Flavored with some lemon juice and dill, and with a pistachio crust. Served alongside jewel rice, using chopped pistachios to blend the flavors a bit and pomegranate seeds of course, which'll give it some bite. I can be fully confident in putting these together, however stressi I might be. And for a dessert, I like to go experimental, so the tomato chiffon cake from Jaconde Baking- if it's good, it should be a different enough taste from the rest of the food to stand out, and if it's bad, then at least it's a bizarre enough idea to have attempted that we can be amused rather than disappointed by it. Please have enjoyed your meal, and do come back while being drunk and/or Haru enough that I don't have to worry about making my food impressive enough for Food Expert Doc Holligay.  -- @katrani
I have always meant to try that tomato chiffon cake! I’m so curious about it, always, and I love jeweled rice.
Good news, you’re in Maryland! Hope you like Old Bay seasoning, because we are legally and morally obligated to serve it to you. Sure, there might be ‘proteins’ and ‘carbohydrates’ and ‘literally anything with nutritional content whatsoever’ down there. Probably. Somewhere. None of that is important. Old Bay is important. Join us. We are crabby. -- Regalli
It will please you to know that I have Old Bay in my cupboard, and so the ways of your people are spreading.
I could come up with a menu, but the honest answer is "my terror and tears" -- @incorrecttact
There were a number of answers that were basically “ARE YOU KIDDING I CAN’T COOK FOR YOU” but this was the one that made me laugh out loud.
Grilled cheese with ketchup, enjoy-- it’s poison
This won for the sole fact that when I read the first half, I was like, “ah okay, not much effort,” but then I read the name and HOWL-LAUGHED. Just the mental image of someone flopping a cheese sandwich in front of me and flatly saying. ‘Enjoy”*walks into the kitchen, pops head back out* “It’s poison” I have no idea how I’ll identify you if you get drawn, but.
Five courses! Which are of course served on a table set with my nice tablecloth and candles and dishware and cutlery.
Course 1: Chicken ginger soup with wild rice
Course 2: Cabbage-based salad with fresh herbs and a sesame vinaigrette
Course 3: Miso-glazed broiled black cod with shiitake and baby bok choy
Course 4: Braised five-spice lamb shank with soy and ginger, served over rice with broccolini
Course 5: Roasted buckwheat custard with coffee on the side -- @seolh
This was a really, really tough one between two of them with really involved course listings, but this one got the edge because I love two things on it INTENSELY: Lamb, and being served coffee with dessert. When a hostess does that, it’s such a touch of class!
