"I'm cold." You whined, pulling the blanket closer to your chest. Buck smiled, stretching his arms before moving closer to you. The couch made a funny sound as he smoothly tried to scoot over. You giggled at the action which made him crack a smile of his own. The corners of his mouth curled up, the sound of your laughter sounding like heaven to his ears.
Since Buck's accident, he's been pretty much stuck at home. Not that you really minded, helping him recover was one of your top priorities now. You even took some time off of work. Just a couple weeks, just until he was feeling better you promised.
"Feeling better now?" He asked. You pretended to hesitate, nuzzling your face against his chest. "Yeahhhh, I'll be alright." You teased. Another chuckle escaped his lips, pressing a kiss to your head.
Oh, how he wished he could stay in this moment forever. He felt so at ease, so peaceful and safe when he was with you.
You thoughtlessly watched the tv show that was playing while you played with the soft cotton hem of his shirt. Twisting it around your fingers. Unconsciously Buck was doing the same thing but with your other hand. His finger caressing the palm of your hand.
You stayed like this for a couple of minutes before the silence was interrupted by soft yawn. Buck pushed his face to the side before blinking a few times. Evan would feel tired often, something the doctors warned him about after he woke up from the coma.
You noticed it in him too, after a few simple task he would already be feeling sleepy. He hated it. Especially during moments like these. Even after sleeping full hours he still would feel like he hasn't slept a wink. He just wants to be with you, do simple things again with you. But it takes time. Healing takes time.
"I'm I such bad company?" You teased, perking your head up to look at him, a smile plastered on your face. Evan laughed softly while caressing your cheek with his thumb. "You? Never!" He smiled but couldn't help but feel a slight quilt forming about ruining this beautiful moment.
You noticed the shift in his eyes and wanted to tell him for the millionth time that he doesn't have to apologize or feel bad about this. He needs to heal.
Before he could say anything you poked his side, tickling him to take his mind of it. "Hey!" He laughed loudly before tickling you back. You jumped up at his fingers tickling your skin. You playfully fought back, making your way from his chest to his torso. You carefully sat up and strangeld his torso. He rested his hands on your hips to help you sit up as you proceeded to tickle his stomach. A playfull "yelp" escaped his lips as he tried holding your hands, laughter filling the room.
After his failed attempts of winning you over he called for a truce. It fell quiet again as you both tried catching your breaths after all the giggles. Here and there a small giggle manged to escape again, making you both smile like children.
Buck sat up again, positioning your hips so you were sitting more comfortable on his lap. Your legs strangled his torso. His hands grabbed your cheecks. He played with your hair before peppering your face with small kisses. "I'm so lucky to have you." He whispered. You smiled, looking at his lips before giving him a kiss. His eyes fluttered shut, deepening the kiss at your approval.
"I love you." You whispered back after a few seconds. The buckley secured his arms against your back before swiftly switching positions. You were laying with your head against the couch, he gave you a loving smile and a kiss before resting his head against your tummy. He wrapped his arms against your upper body, nestling his nose against your skin just like you did before with him.
He felt so happy, so goddamm lucky to have you. How he wished he could capture moments like this forever. Dream in them away and stay with you forever.

you’re jealous, you shouldn’t be | buck
Tumblr media
♡ Pairing: Buck/Gender Neutral!Reader ♡ Genre: A lil angsty I guess?? But idiots to lovers ♡ Word Count: 1.7k ♡ Warnings: Alcohol Mention, Drunken Mention ♡ Beta Read: By the lovely and amazing @thatnerdemryn thank u so much bb!! ♡ Summary: Emotions boil over with you and Buck’s jealously after a night at the bar.
Tumblr media
A frustrated sigh left your mouth as you downed your third shot of the night. You supposed this was you drinking away your sorrows. It wasn’t like you, but you could handle your liquor well. Besides, the night just wasn’t going as planned.
In most ways, it was like any other late night out after a shift. You and the crew were out at Tony's, one of the bars most frequented by police and firefighters alike. It was a chill place to swap war stories and relax with everyone before going home for the night.
Usually, you thoroughly enjoyed it, but tonight? Tonight was utter shit.
The reason for that sat across the bar, in the form of a sly dark brunette trying to have her way with Buck. She had set her sights the moment she walked into the bar. Initially, you were sitting next to him, but after listening to her over-the-top flirting, you found another seat.
It wasn’t the first time you had been forced to listen to someone try to put the moves on him – probably wouldn’t be the last – but why did it have to happen on the night you were going to?
It didn’t help that Buck looked so damn alluring tonight. After shift, he had changed into a maroon short sleeve button up that perfectly complimented his bulking frame. His blonde hair was perfectly brushed back, cobalt eyes sparking and mesmerizing.
God, you were a sucker for him.
Which was why you had finally decided to make an official move on him. You say official because well, technically you already had. The two of you had slept together a few months ago at a party another crew was throwing. It was a brief drunken moment of passion and fun, but one that hadn’t left your mind.
Neither of you had spoken about it since, but you couldn’t stop thinking about it. You wanted to feel his hands on your body again, kiss those plush lips, and more. But, you also wanted more of him - for him to be yours.
You weren’t sure if the feeling was mutual, but why not try? It was hard to work up the courage, but after a talk with Eddie last week, you were ready. Or so you thought.
It wasn’t like you lacked confidence but compared to that beautiful woman pushing up on Buck… You weren’t so sure you stood a chance. It didn’t help that Buck appeared to be enjoying her attention if the laughs and smiles between the two of them were any indications. Hell, maybe he would even be taking her home tonight and you couldn't blame either of them in the slightest.
Maybe the night the two of you spent together had been completely forgetful. Maybe he had never thought twice about you.
The mere thought had you needing more alcohol to pour down your throat. You were about to call the bartender over for another, when someone placed a hand on your shoulder.
“Whoa there. You’ve been knocking them back, think you should slow down?” Eddie asked worriedly as he sat down next to you.
“Nope, I’m just swell,” you replied defensively.
You pretended to not notice the bitterness in your voice.
The brown-eyed firefighter sighed, “We talked about what you were going to do tonight. So, I know how you must be feeling.”
“Fine, I’m bothered, but maybe this is a sign that it wasn’t meant to be… that it’s for the best.”
“I don’t think that’s the case. Sometimes shit just happens, doesn't mean you should give up.”
You smiled at the earnest in Eddie’s voice, knowing he was genuinely concerned and wanted to cheer you up. Eddie and you had grown quite close since you transferred. You thought of him like the older brother you never had. In fact, you had spent most of the night with him after moving away from Buck. He was the only reason you were still here.
“Thanks, Eddie, I appreciate that. I think I should just head home. I’m gonna call an Uber and put this night behind me.”
Eddie seemed to mull it over for a moment before getting up and saying, “Nah, I can’t let you head out of here alone. Let me take you. I’ll just go and say goodnight to everyone.”
“Sure,” you said with a shrug, getting up too. “But I’ll go ahead and wait outside for you. Tell everyone I said bye.”
Eddie nodded without protest as you quickly paid your tab and made an exit before anyone else noticed. It wasn’t like you, but you had seen more than enough tonight.
Love was a battlefield for Evan Buckley and you were its loser tonight.
You accepted the defeat as you stepped out of the bar and breathed in the fresh California air. It was beautiful tonight with stars out and glimmering. You couldn’t even hear any sirens, which always put you at ease.
As soon as Eddie dropped you off, you planned to get into a nice hot shower and let the stress soak out of you. Maybe stay up all night and watch some sappy romantic comedies. You didn’t work again for a few days, you could afford to ruin your sleep schedule.
A few minutes passed and you began to wonder if Eddie had forgotten about you. You were about to peek inside when the bar door opened and to your surprise, Buck stepped out.
“Hey,” he said, stepping towards you with a grin that nearly took your breath away.
“Buck?” You squeaked out, “what are you doing out here?”
The blonde-haired firefighter frowned in confusion. “I’m taking you home. Eddie said you asked me too.”
Your eyes narrowed at that, knowing exactly what Eddie was up to. That no good trouble maker…
“Um no, I’m good actually. Eddie was mistaken, you should head back inside.”
“Nonsense, I’m ready to go anyways,” Buck said quickly, wrapping an arm around your shoulder and pulling you into him. “Let’s get out of here.”
Heat flaring in your cheeks, you could only nod, your protests dying on your lips at the feeling of his body against yours. It was completely innocent, but just a mere touch from Buck always sent your heart racing. There was no way you were going to be able to say no and maybe a part of you didn’t want to.
Tumblr media
So, here you sat in Buck’s nice shiny car. Your hands wrung together anxiously in your lap as you stared out of the window. The bar was a half hour from both your places, which was only minutes from Buck’s. It made sense to drive home together, but that didn’t mean you were exactly happy about it.
Your buzz was starting to wear off now and so your emotions were coming to you tenfold. After all, you were pissed that Eddie had done this to you. Why had he lied to Buck about taking you home?  Surely, Buck must have not wanted to, considering he had been busy talking to that girl.
Thoughts of them were still buzzing in your mind and you couldn’t help but unconsciously clench your jaw. The mental image of her draping her hands all over him sent a pang through your heart.
“You okay over there?” Buck asked, taking you out of your head. “You seem tense.”
“Just tired, I guess,” you replied curtly.
“You didn’t seem too tired at the bar.”
“Pfft, I’m surprised you noticed, considering how preoccupied you were,” you muttered defensively.
Buck glanced at you in confusion.
“What’s that supposed to mean?”
“You know, you seemed busy with that woman sitting at the bar. The two of you were pretty friendly,” you huffed, knowing how silly and jealous you sounded, but unwilling to give in.
However, you were surprised to notice Buck grip the steering wheel a bit tightly, his eyes suddenly serious.
It took him a second to reply, but when he did, jealousy coated his voice. “Well, you and Eddie were getting cozy too.”
“Yeah, we were talking, so what? Why would you have a problem with that? Eddie and I are friends, you know that,” you asked, squinting.
Buck let out a heavy sigh and didn’t respond. Instead, he got off the highway and pulled the car into an empty parking lot.
You could tell he wanted to say something important, so you waited patiently until he turned to you and spoke.
“I have a problem with that because I like you. I really fucking like you. I have since before we slept together a while back.”
Your heart skipped a beat at Buck’s words. How many sleepless nights had you spent imagining this exact moment? Wondering what it would be like for him to spill his heart out like this to you, but still, you needed clarity.
“But, if you feel this way, why were you talking to that girl? She was all over you.”
“I didn’t even want to talk to her, she started talking to me and I was being polite. Next thing I know you’re gone and all alone with Eddie. So, maybe I let her flirt with me because I was jealous.”
You blinked at his words. Was Buck seriously telling you he was jealous of Eddie? That he thought you liked Eddie?
Taking a deep breath, you prepared to tell him everything.
“Buck - I don’t even know where to begin. I don’t like Eddie, he’s like a brother to me. I’ve liked you for so long too. I’ve been wanting to tell you and I was going to do it tonight, but I let myself chicken because I was jealous too.”
Buck simply stared at you for a moment in astonishment.
“Really?”
“Really.”
“So - you’re saying we’ve both been jealous of the other all night when we could have been together the whole time?”
“Looks like it. We’re idiots.”
The two of you let out chuckles at that and you couldn’t help smiling. Relief and warmth filled your heart as you processed the fact that Buck liked you too. You didn’t have to keep imagining a repeat of that sweet night the two of you shared - more would come soon.
Buck leaned in toward you, intertwining your hand with his and squeezing gently. You could tell he was just as happy as you.
“Maybe I could take you on a proper date tomorrow. We can talk things out, figure out where we wanna go from here..”
You nodded, “I’d love that Buck. I gotta say though, I’m not sure I’m feeling up to being alone tonight. Maybe you could stay over?”
Buck clearly caught the implication of your words, because in seconds he was letting you go of your hand and pulling back onto the road.

Hello, could I request prompt 5 of Hurt/Comfort for Bobby Nash x reader please
of course bestie! wrote this one on the plane and am pretty jet lagged now so it’s poorly edited lol
Pairings: Bobby Nash x GN!Reader
Warnings: injury, hospitals

No one informed you that becoming a firefighter would permanently affect your reflexes. Particularly the act without thinking ones. So it didn’t come to much surprise to you or your team when there was an emergency on your day off that you would attend to it.
Off-duty saves weren’t particularly rare and most of the time all that came out of it were a few confused bystanders wondering how a civilian knew exactly what to do, but this time you seemed to have gotten yourself in a predicament.
Instead of only the parties involved in the accident leaving the site in an ambulance, you joined them too.
After your heroic move, the car that had slipped in a precarious manner, fell ontop your leg and most definitely broke a bone. The on duty EMTs patched you up to the best of their abilities and sent you off to surgery.
When you awoke from that with new metal screws in your leg that would take time and a lot of PT to get used to, your friend and colleague Ravi was already by your side, ready to get you anything you might need.
“Ravi, what the hell,” you groaned, shifting in your bed. “How did you find out about this?”
“After your sister moved you switched your emergency contact to me, I’m flattered you remember,” he said sarcastically. “I’ve been here since before you went in to surgery.”
“Sorry, must be the drugs,” you said with a wave of your hand.
“So an off-duty save huh,” he chuckled. “What happened to think before you act, Panikkar?”
“Out the window. I just reacted,” you chuckled. “Frankly, now that it’s happened to me I’m not surprised, it’s practically instinct.”
“What did I tell you,” Ravi reached a hand over to squeeze yours. “I called the team to give them a heads up. I think you’ll probably be getting some visitors in the next few days before you go home.”
“Good, hospitals are so boring and it’s not like I can go anywhere,” you pointed to your recently casted leg. “God the next while is gonna suck ass.”
“Yep, it sure is,” Ravi agreed with you and you rolled your eyes. He knew just how to make you feel better.
As Ravi had warned you, the next few days were filled with visits from everybody on the team.
Chimney came by with Maddie and Jee-Yun first, bringing you a much needed good cup of coffee and a sweet little get well card decorated by the young Buckley-Han.
The next day Hen came over. She brought a deck of Uno cards and you shared a few very heated rounds of the game which may or may not have ended in something closer to 52 pick up.
Buck came by next, he had offered to pick up some comfort items from your home and you practically melted when he brought you your dad’s old and worn college hoodie you’d had since you were fifteen years old. You both also spent time ranking the injuries the team had sustained at the firehouse, the list went on to your colleagues and was highly debated for the next few days after that.
Lastly Eddie brought Christopher over and their favourite telanovella downloaded on Eddie’s laptop for you to all watch together (not without many interruptions from you still trying to figure out what the storyline was).
After about a week and a half at the hospital on bed rest, Ravi was finally given the ok to move you back to your apartment. It took a lot of coordination to find a way to get you to fit into his car with the giant cast on your leg, not to mention him practically having to drag you out of the building. You were strong, but for some reason not strong enough to carry whatever the hell it was they wrapped your leg with.
When you were finally at home in your — thankfully — first floor apartment Ravi ordered something for dinner and you both sat on your couch to enjoy it.
“Hey Ravi, can I ask you something?”
“Sure, what’s up?”
You stopped eating your food, and stared down at your take our container.
“Do you know why Bobby didn’t come visit me?” you said quietly.
“H-He didn’t?” Ravi seemed confused.
“No,” you shook your head. “Everyone else came just like you said, I was actually kind of surprised.”
“Yeah, I’m surprised too,” Ravi nodded. “You guys are close, aren’t you?”
“I mean I thought we were,” you shrugged and picked at your food. “Just a couple night before the accident we had dinner together a-and I had a really nice time I’m just…worried I did something wrong.”
“I don’t think you did anything wrong,” Ravi shook his head. “Just talk to him, send him a text, ask him to come over tomorrow night.”
“Isn’t that a bit presumptuous,” you raised a brow with a chuckle.
“You have a broken leg that’s casted all the way to your thigh, that’s not hot,” Ravi deadpanned. “Just text him.”
“Fine,” you pulled out your phone and typed up a text, having it proofread by your friend before sending it off. “And now we wait.”
The next evening you heard a knock on your door followed by,
“Hey it’s Bobby, spare key still in the same place?”
“Yep,” you called back, thankful he had asked. It was a nightmare to walk with a cast.
The lock of the door clicked and Bobby stepped inside with a a bag of what you assumed to be dinner, before closing the door behind him and locking it.
“Someone ask for room service?” he teased and you couldn’t help but raise your hand. It was definitely better than the hospital food and take out.
“I brought extras so I’m pack them up in the fridge and you just heat them up when you want to eat.”
You nodded at his instructions, but were perplexed by how normal he was acting.
“Hey Bobby, before we eat can we talk?” you asked.
“Yeah of course,” he said after putting the extra food in the fridge. “What’s up?”
“Why didn’t you come visit me at the hospital,” you blurted.
Bobby looked like he was expecting your question and sighed, rubbing the back of his neck with his hand.
“Would you believe me if I said it would have been too hard for me to see you in a hospital bed?” he asked.
“If that’s the truth,” you nodded.
“It’s just,” he paused. “I-After our dinner I wasn’t really sure where we stood. We never really talked about it, it just happened.”
You nodded, that was true, one thing had led to another and you didn’t have a lot of time to talk about what the implications of your dinner meant for your friendship.
“And I knew if I stepped into that hospital room I wouldn’t be able to be just your Captain. Or...just your friend.”
“Bobby,” you patted the seat next to you and encouraged him to come closer.
He did, taking his seat and watching as your took his hands in yours.
“I just wasn’t sure what was appropriate,” he whispered.
“I don’t care. I just wanted you to stay with me. I still do,” you said quietly, allowing your forehead to rest against his.
One of Bobby’s hands slipped out of your own and came to cradle your face.
“I’m so sorry I didn’t come.”
“You’re here now,” you smiled.
He leaned in the few inches further and closed the space between you, pressing a soft kiss to your lips.
“And I’m not going anywhere.”

Part: 10/10
“I desperately wanted to hate what I could see growing before my eyes, whilst I felt the sting of bitterness deepening within the very depths of my soul.
I was being pushed but I just couldn’t hate such tender love, pure and healing those festering wounds within you both. I knew there was no way forward. This was my out and I had to take it before those dreaded dark seeds blossomed. I could not be the one to tear down love as beautiful as yours.”
The sound of silence was almost deafening in how all-consuming it was, as you stood straight ahead. You had brought the axe down hard, cutting the conversation dead in its tracks. What else could be said after such a heart-breaking confession left your cracked lips? Your mouth was dryer than the Sahara desert as you waited for the oppressive atmosphere to pass.
You would have regretted the moment those words crossed your lips if they had been a falsehood, a lie to distract from the truth. However this was your reality, this was how you truly felt. You watched as Bobby’s hope deflated as he began to disappear into himself once more. This cut deeper than anything else, as you witnessed his confidence and self-worth shattered into a million differently shaped pieces. This was now what you wanted but a by-product.
No matter how you phrased it, no carefully thought-through planned statement could have stopped the blunt force of agony that swiftly followed. It was a hard pill to swallow but you couldn’t skirt around what this was. This was the end of the road when hearts got broken, where feelings were pushed out of the way for the cold harsh light of day. This was a break-up, one that had been long coming. You had heard the deafening sirens in the distance but ignored them for as you as possible. You had wanted this to work, you had wanted them in your life as your romantic partners.
This was failure plain and simple, no matter how it was presented even neatly with a bow tied on top. This attempt at an unconventional relationship, a throuple had crashed and burnt in a way that you hadn’t given a second thought to. Yet here you were with an increasingly despondent Bobby. Athena had held steadfast to her second amendment rights, falling silent and staring anywhere to avoid your gaze.
You felt as if you had been caught with your hand in a cookie jar when you had been told no treats before dinner. At this moment, shame and guilt were the most prevalent emotions but shades of regret and the anguish of waking up alone tomorrow were starting to manifest, mixing in. The weight of this new dawn was unlike what you had experienced before. You had navigated through both messy and amicable breaks but this felt beyond different.
This would be a whole new scenario to manoeuvre through, the various twists and turns that encompassed the maze that you standing in with walls that stretched as far as the eye could see. Your reality had somewhat shifted, changing the illusionary location rapidly. In a blink of an eye, the interrogation room melted away. This was what your mind replaced it with. An inescapable maze, that you rushed through but constantly failed to find the correct path that would lead you out.
This was your anticipated worst-case scenario in one way but yet things were not playing out as you initially imagined. It was a hell of a lot worse than anything that your twisted mind would conjure up. You should feel relieved as the pressure on your chest was finally released as you spoke what had been lingering in the back of your mind. That dejected look in Athena’s eyes stung more than ever thought it might as if that knife you used to cut the thread connecting you to them had been turned around and thrust into your chest.
It twisted left then right, damaging just enough with each turn of the wrist knowingly to leave a mark behind. A reminder whenever you dared to glance into the mirror at your reflection. There it would be, a figurative wound, raw and never truly closing for all your days to come. A fractured heart, aching to be healed but the missing piece could never be reclaimed. This was the price too high that would be paid here and now. The piper was calling and this was your reply.
What else was there to be said? The ball was in their court, you just needed to be patient and wait to see what happened next. Bobby Nash, Fire Captain of Firehouse 118 stood off to one side contemplating how small his world had just become. In a few short minutes, his happy little world had frozen over as feelings of failure, inadequacy, confusion and grief overtook his peripheral vision. Sliding over him like the visor clicking down on his helmet.
This felt like a step to the side, not a step backwards into the darkness. He wasn’t alone in his despair this time. He had a partner along for the ride-sharing the load as he felt Athena slide along before placing her hand into his. An act of comfort, this was what he needed. Tears would come but not quite yet. He had cried enough for more than one lifetime. Athena barely contained the sorrow as it quelled beneath her simmering fury.
The storm had come and gone, brushed aside in the heat of the moment. A numbness soon followed, settling over the two of them as they took their first steps back into the world, their hearts bruised and cracked but holding firm. Knitting the threads that held them together tighter than before. This had tested them, pushing them to the edge, only to pull them back again.
One where things hadn’t worked out when they tried taking a different path, was by inviting one another in and opening up their cosy relationship. It had been one hell of a ride, where flames of passion smouldered. However, ultimately the spark dimmed as that once fierce blaze cooled down until three had disappeared right back to the beginning. Where a couple stood there, watching as the third left.
Had the right person stumbled in at the wrong time? This bizarre thought dared to cross his mind. Maybe this was simply poor timing and ill planning. He had nothing but time to run all the questions, the what-ifs and the rabbit holes that it might lead him down. Athena would be there to set him straight when he’d evitable delve too far into the depths of his mind, becoming lost in the dark. She would be the light to emulate the path hidden from his sight.
This was both the end and a new beginning. It would be an uphill battle, only this time he would have someone else along for the ride. “This was never the plan when Athena and I opened up our relationship, to invite you in you for a time and then to push you right back out into the cold” He started as he worked through his thoughts, trying to vocalize his rapidly shifting feelings.
He was everything all at once. A perfect storm locked away in a glass flask but the fierce winds were steadily calming. Athena was another story together as she had remained tight-lipped. All her words were locked away in a vault, under lock and key. There was no doubt that she would make one hell of a poker player, as she masked through each time she bluffed about the cards in her hand. Winning round after round with ease. Burning holes in various pockets and wallets like a seasoned pro. This was different, this was her vanishing beneath her mask and simply walking away.
Storm Athena had vanished in a blink of an eye but was it for the better? That would be the question you were battling with in the days to come. Overanalyzing all the little details of this moment, trying to find sense and logic in her actions. Trying to almost read what was happening within, to hear those precious few thoughts that indicate her next play, the steps that she would inevitably take.
Would things ever truly be amicable? You hoped that would in time but that’s all you could do. Hope that the day would crest over the horizon sooner rather than later but you wouldn’t push. They deserved all the time in the world as the walls sheltering their little piece of paradise began reconstruction. As their battered and bruised hearts started on the next stage of their healing journey without you. Athena, I know that you don’t want to talk to me. Hell, I don’t expect you to even respond or read this but please know that I never meant to hurt you or Bobby. I saw the door start to close.
I should have tried harder to reach out, to be heard but we are long past that. I don’t know if I’ll be back this way but please know that I did cherish the time that I was there standing toe to toe with you and Bobby. I would never want to stand in the way, have that loving affection turn sour and embittered by the very experience of having a front-row seat to a show that slowly capsizing.
You deserve better than this, you both do. The dear John letter was a stupid and careless idea that I never thought all the way through but please know that I will never freeze out the lines of communication if you ever think of me and want to reach out for that long overdue talk. I will say this one last thing,
I did deeply care about the pair of you, you meant the world to me but this was not our time. This was not ours around but it is yours and Bobby’s. I saw that secret smile whenever you locked eyes with him and vis versa. A love story in motion but I was grateful to have been a part of it. I wish you nothing but all the happiness in the world for all that is to come.
Clicking send hadn’t been the hardest part, as you sat in the seat of the Grey Hound bus heading out of town. The hospital had arranged transport to the bus station then the rest had been up to you. Your one-way ticket was tucked firmly between the pages of the cheesy romance book you had picked up in the little shop at the hospital on your way out. Something to keep your mind preoccupied.
You had let yourself chuckle softly when you had first pulled it out of your bag. You hadn’t even checked the title when choosing between the limited range and selection starting up from the shelves. The three different books to choose from, you had split down the middle and just gone for door room two which had turned out to be the only romance-heavy option. It was truly karma in action, a borderline cruel reminder of what once had been yours.
An epic love for ages, well it might have been if the fire hadn’t been blown out. You had been one to finish off those embers, never once giving them a chance to reignite. Now as you sat staring out of the window watching the world rush past. A sense of conflicted peace rolled over. This was a new beginning, a chapter closing as you started on a new adventure into pastures unknown.
Whether the grass was greener on the other side, you’d soon find out as the bus turned the corner and headed out onto the freeway. You had crossed the point of no return more than once in the last few hours. Or so it felt but there was no point in looking backwards, no matter how much it hurt to admit.
Silently you muttered a single word, finally cutting the tattered remains of the thread that held you in place.
Goodbye
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It had been a rollercoaster of ups and downs in the years since you had last dared to step foot in Los Angeles. Both professional and personal. You pushed any thoughts of those failed relationships and the dead-end jobs that landed at your feet when you had struggled to find a home.
Home had found you when an unmissable job opportunity crossed your desk one fine day three months back. It was almost impossible to stop your fingers from typing up and updating your resume. Before you had known it, you had completed the application and clicked the send button launching into the depths of the electronic superhighway that was the internet. Regret did not follow in its wake. You had anticipated some awkwardness resonating within you but nothing occurred.
You had expected nothing to come from it, it was almost a complete shot in the dark. Yes, you had the skills and the experience in a similar field but would that be enough? As you worked your shoes off day in and day out, you had pretty much forgotten about that one particular job application sent three weeks beforehand.
You had long since concluded that if you hadn’t heard by now then you were highly unlikely to hear anything at all. You pushed forward with the daily grind. Going to work and then back home. Rinse later and repeat.
Until that one notification last thing on Friday night shook things up. An interview then a second and a third soon followed after. Before long an offer of another job, a chance to spread your wings and take flight back to the City of Angels manifested. All that you needed to do was simply say yes, well that and find a place to set up shop. Apartment hunting pre-pandemic was hard enough but this was a whole new ball game. Virtual viewings were the done thing in the post-pandemic world.
Viewing a possible home through the screen of any available device, a tour at your fingertips allowed you to go from room to room as you tried to ascertain whether this one, the third tour of the day was the one. Whether it met all your basic requirements. Was it too far from your base of operations? Was it located in a reasonable neighbourhood? Were there good transportation links into the city itself?
Question after question arose as you continued to scroll into the next room. This seemed a lot harder than all the times before when you had needed to go apartment hunting. It was turning into a headache, they all could easily be made to look rather simpler with the click of a well-positioned camera lens.
As text came through lighting up your phone screen, you paused the video for a moment. The name displayed above the message knocked you for six. You hesitated opening it, for it could easily go one or two ways. For this moment in time, you were solely existing in Schrödinger's cat type of scenario.
It could both be a harmless conversation starter, cracking open what once had been slammed shut or yet it could be something that held steadfast to the notion of flogging a dead horse. Or it be both at the same time but until you dared to look inside that box, you wouldn’t know. Without a second more to mull it over, you clicked upon it. You held your breath as the message revealed itself to your increasingly growing anxiety that bubbled within.
After all this time, Athena responded and replied to your mammoth message sent. Your olive branch to do right by her, to have the chance to sit down and talk like adults. To see if it was truly possible to let sleeping dogs lie and move forward as friends. You hated the idea of completely burning that bridge and cutting her and Bobby out of life because of your mistakes. There had been the building blocks for a stable foundation which you have decided had been cracked.
In the time since then, you had searched through every avenue of what had been. Through rose-tinted glasses, you had viewed the long hours, the lapses in replies and the never-ending chain of cancellations and rearranged dates in haste. They were a part of the daily up and downs when dating two first responders. You had acted with the emotional range of a moody teenager. You hadn’t taken the time to consider what it meant for them, who you were at the end of the day.
You were meant to be their safe harbour, away from the multiple emergencies that lingered on the other side of that door. When it slammed shut, you could have their light in the dark leading through the long nights. Instead of salving to heal their wound, you had ripped them wide out, tearing out their hearts, watching as bled at your feet when you had penned that letter without giving each of them a second thought.
It had all about you. You had changed and grown as a person since then learning more about how to navigate a relationship. The many twists and turns that came and went day in and day out and learning from your past indiscretion when it came to communication lay at the heart of every relationship. Looking back, it hadn’t been your finest hour the last time you were even in the state. You had run away, tail tucked between your legs across several state lines under you found yourself darkening your brother’s door. He had been expecting you.
Only a few weeks later than initially planned. You had kept him updated from your hospital bed, your ear red raw from his worried rants stuck on repeat like a broken record. Each time you called, He softened his tone and inclination and by the time you arrived. The once bare-to-the-bone wire-like threads that had once connected you had begun to heal, deepened as that proud man opened his heart and mind to welcome home the sibling that had been pushed away. It had been a challenging climb but he had been by your side, walking in tandem.  He had grown as a man, as a brother and as a human being.
One relationship had flourished, whilst another faded away. However this message, oh how it made your heart skip a beat. Anxious laden but still hope began to flutter its paper-thin wings as it flicked back to life.
I will not deny that your action hurt, not only me but Bobby too. It has taken me years to come to terms with how things went down. I’m ready to talk, understand and move forward completely then we can go from there.
It had been frank and straight to the point like the woman behind those words but it was a chance. One that won’t waste this go around. It was hard not to smile, to fight back those feelings that you long since buried. Soon enough those dreaded butterflies would take up residence within your stomach but you won’t let them consume you. This was a fresh start, not a blank slate.
Athena, thank you for this. Let me know when you are free to speak. I am ready to answer all the questions you have. I’m sure that there are plenty, I will be nothing short of completely honest with you
You watched the screen, waiting for those two little ticks to appear. The sign that the message had been delivered then you’d have to kill time until the colour changed from grey to blue showing that Athena had read your message. You placed your phone down as you couldn’t be glued to that device like a lovesick fool. The ball was now in her court now.
When the message arrived, it was simple. Date and time staring up at you. A question then arose in the back of your mind, who would be the one to initiate the phone call in question? However, before you could even type out a response, another message appeared. She would be the one to call you. It felt damn near bizarre finding yourself in a situation such as this. However, you’d pushed on through if it meant salvaging a relationship from the wreckage. Even if it would be nothing but wholly platonic or not in the long run.
As you typed a quick reply, you smiled softly feeling happier than you had in months, as a sense of peace washed over you as you made your way of the room. A list as long as your arm began to form in your mind of all the possibly questions that might soon be coming your way.
“It’s a start, the best that I could have hoped for” You softly repeat like mantra as you considered the next steps. Whatever they might be. The bounce in your step would come in time but still each stride no longer felt like you were walking in treacle. Weighed down with the guilt that you had long since carried upon your shoulders.
Peace was just the beginning if things truly went well. This was only the first of hopefully upon this new trail off the beaten path.
New memories to be made once you had truly arrived but you shouldn’t get ahead of yourself. One foot in front of the other, never pushing forward unless the opportunity presented itself. You finally could let go of that aching sense of guilt that hung deftly around your neck. The hangman’s noose tightened of its own accord through the day, worsening when you were lying alone at night, clock-watching until sleep overtook you.
Pushing away the persistent thought of what if, what if you could go back and change the order that events had played out. You simply couldn’t but it was in the past, finally buried when Athena knew the truth behind your actions. The why, the how and the emotions that drove your hand when drawing the next card from the deck of life.
When you drew the next one, it would be the one that changed your tomorrow into bright light that you’d lovingly thrive to keep joyfully humming in all the days that came after. Through the many ups and downs as you rode through the hard and trying times, through the days were sun shone brightest as if it was only illuminated for you and the ones you loved.
The hours seemed to rush past waiting for the sun to slip beneath the horizon. As day seamlessly melted away as night took hold. You stood silent as a mouse, staring out at the night sky smiling to yourself as innocent enough thoughts overtook as you pictured a new dawn. This was only the beginning, to gain Athena’s forgiveness, trust and friendship was a road that needed to be walked. A journey that you had started, crossing the threshold when you had offered an olive branch.
You had gained ground but that conversation was all that mattered. You wanted to make good on your promise. Tomorrow was now more than just another day, one to toil through the hours until it was time to head home. Athena then maybe one day you could bring yourself to face Bobby.
As you rebuilt your world, one thread at a time. It would not be the same as before but still, it would be home.

8:56 pm-Please hurry, it’s huge. Door open. Might die
Buck couldn’t help but laugh when he got your text. He left his apartment and walked the few feet it took to get yours. He rapped on the door and put his hand on the doorknob.
“I said it was open! Hurry up!!!!” You squeal from inside and he shakes his head when he opens the door.
“Nice to see you too.” He grins as he shuts the door behind him.
“Hi. Yes. Please kill it. I feel like it’s staring at me.” You huff, arms crossed as you stand on couch and stare at the quarter sized spider in the middle of your floor.
Buck takes his shoe off before creeping towards the spider and slamming the shoe on it. You squeal at the sound and watch as Buck dutifully grabs a paper towel to dispose of the remains because he knows even dead they freak you out.
You jump off the couch with a sigh, “Thank you, it was horrible.”
“No problem! Do I get my usual reward?” Buck grins.
“Mhmm, Can you wait like 30 minutes? It’s in the oven.” You ask as you head back to the kitchen.
“30 minutes? Damn, that’s a long time. Can’t you time your spider emergency and dinner better?” Buck teases, taking a seat at the counter.
“I’m sorry, next time I’ll plan accordingly.” You tease back, your eyes rolling.
This is how it always worked with you and Buck. He killed your bugs and fixed leaks or broken furniture and then you made him dinner. It didn’t go much further than this. These were the only times you guys hung out. Saying hello to each other in the halls and only texting for emergencies.
You knew a little about him, about his job and friends and ex’s. No current girlfriend which shocked you because you hadn’t failed to notice his beautiful face. He knew a little about you job and hobbies and ex’s as well.
To be honest you were kinda into him but you last boyfriend royally fucked you up and you weren’t sure if you were up to it again. He still hadn’t returned any of your things that you had left at his place and it had been 6 months.
“How are things going with the asshole?” Buck asks as you place his food in front of him.
“Ugh. Fine. For now. He finally agreed to meet me and give my shit back.” You lean against the counter and take a bite of your dinner.
“Need me to come as backup?” He asks , eyebrow raised. God he’s hot. It’s not fair.
“No, it’s fine. You’ll only back it worse.” You laugh. You’re picturing Buck showing up with you and your ex throwing a fit about you with a guy.
“Ok, well if you need me you know where I live.” He grins and you giggle. God he’s cute. Sometimes you wondered if you should just let yourself fall for him.
——————
Things couldn’t have gone worse. You had a horrible day at work and then when you got to the meeting place to get your stuff back he wasn’t there. He was an hour late and when he got there he handed you a box with a bunch of destroyed shit. Only a handful of it was probably salvageable.
Then when you asked him what the fuck he did he started berating you. Telling you it was your fault, telling you that you should’ve gotten it sooner. Telling you that he never loved you and he had the chance to cheat but he didn’t because he was too embarrassed for you. You knew none of this was his fault but just like you did when you were in a relationship with him you started to fall for his gaslighting.
You left the elevator with the box in hand and dropped it in front of your door as you fumbled for your keys. When they slipped from your hand you finally lost it. You leaned your forehead against your door and just started sobbing.
You don’t think you could even bother to be embarrassed with how shitty you feel but you’re sure you’ll feel it later.
“Y/n? What’s wrong?” Buck’s voice sounds from behind you.
Ok maybe you could be embarrassed.
“Nothing, don’t worry about it, just dropped my keys.” You mumble and lean down to pick your keys up and quickly unlocked your door, kicking the box inside and hoping Buck doesn’t notice it.
“Did you go and get your stuff today? Did something happen?” Buck follows you despite your shut down and you don’t even care. You find yourself spilling all the details to him. He shuts your door and guides you to the couch as you sob and tell him everything.
He gently guides you into his arms and you can’t believe how good it feels. He’s warm and welcoming and his arms are so strong and you can’t stop yourself from nuzzling into his shirt as you hiccup.
“He’s an asshole. None of this is your fault he’s just a dick. He never deserved you.” He soothes and rubs a hand over your back.
You weren’t sure how long you stayed like that, just crying in silence as Buck held you.
“It’s not even like I’m upset about the relationship. I’m so happy I’m not with him and can find someone good. I’m just pissed and when I get pissed I cry.” You complain once you’ve finished crying.
“You’re totally fine.” Buck laughs gently, his hand still absentmindedly rubbing on your back. He’s staring into your eyes so intensely and you just can’t look away.
“Buck?” You ask gently.
“Ya, sorry. You’re just…..one of the most incredible women I’ve ever met and it sucks that this asshole didn’t appreciate you the way he should’ve.” He looks so serious as he tucks a piece of hair behind your ear.
You take in a sharp breath as his face moves closer to you.
“Can I kiss you?” He whispers, his warm breath fanning across your face.
“Please do.” You murmur. As soon as the words are out of your mouth, his lips are on yours. His kiss is gentle and sweet and then it’s more. Passionate and his tongue slipping into your mouth. The two of you pull away to catch your breath and Buck is grinning like an idiot.
“God you kiss like an angel.” Buck murmurs, “I bet there are lots of ways he wasn’t treating you well.”
You can feel your face heating up as his hand trailing over the hem of your shirt, realizing exactly what he means.
“No need to get embarrassed.” Buck smirks, “You can tell me, did he eat your pussy like you deserve?”
You shake your head slowly, “No, he would go for like 5 minutes and then say his jaw was getting tired and I’d fake an orgasm because I felt bad.”
Buck launches himself at you again and kisses you hungrily. It’s all tongues and teeth as he pulls you into his lap, his hands holding your back.
“Can I change that for you? Show you what you deserve?” He murmurs, his lips not leaving yours.
“Please.” You gasp as he lifts you up.
“Gonna take such good care of you.” Buck smiles as he places you gently on your bed and pulls his shirt off.
If there were any thoughts of your ex left they were definitely gone now. Buck’s chest was amazing, the tattoos and the just a little bit of a tummy with those abs. You feel like you’re probably drooling but you can’t be bothered when he’s coming towards you. His lips back on yours as he presses you to your mattress.
“This is ok, right?” Buck mumbles against you, hand playing with your shirt as if determines if he should take it off or not.
“Yes. Absolutely. This is…..something I’ve wanted for a whole.” You whisper, slightly embarrassed.
Buck let’s out a load groan as he pulls your shirt off, “You have no idea how long I’ve wanted this too.”
Before you know it the both of you are naked and Buck is settled between your legs.
He kisses along your thighs gently, occasionally placing little nips along them as he drags his nose over your exposed cunt.
“You’re so damn beautiful.” Buck murmurs, his breath fanning over you.
“Buck please.” You groan, hips lifting slightly to try and tempt Buck to get started.
“I’m getting to it, sweetheart, don’t worry. I’m gonna take such good care of you.” He runs his hands over your hips before getting closer to you and licking gently.
You let out a gasp of breath as he keeps licking you gently, hands tightening on your hips as you start to buck them. He holds you and tastes like it’s the only thing he’s ever wanted and it makes your head spin. It’s been a long time since someone touched you like this and you had almost forgotten how amazing it feels.
As your breathing increases and you start panting he goes a little faster, presses his tongue against you a little harder. He drags his tongue across your slit, gathering your slick and rubbing it over your clit. Gently massaging the bundle of nerves with his tongue as he peers up at you through his eyelashes. He lets out a moan against you that you can feel vibrating against every inch of your pussy and you toss your head back.
“Holy fuck…..I’m gonna……gonna cum. Buck, please. Don’t stop.” You let out panting breathes as Buck pulls away for a moment.
“Don’t hold back, grind on my face, use me to help.” He instructs, his chin glistening with your wetness before he dives back in.
You can’t believe how hot that statement is as his tongue presses flat against your clit. You grind your hips against his face subtly at first but when you pulls you closer by your thighs you start going hard. Practically humping his face as his tongue flicks across you.
It doesn’t take long for you to be coming undone on his tongue. Your eyes rolling back as your grip at his small curls as he keeps feasting on you. He doesn’t pull away until he’s sure you’re throughly fucked, his tongue licking the excess off of his face.
“You taste so good.” Buck smiles as he comes up to lay next to you, “Did you feel good?”
“I felt fucking amazing.” You giggle and lean up and kiss Buck, tasting yourself on him.
“I don’t think I’ve ever been this hard in my life.” Buck laughs as he pulls you back to the mattress.
“Can I?” You lean over and reach towards his belt but he catches your hand and shakes his head.
“Not right now, tonight was about making you feel good.” Buck smiles and strokes your cheek, “We’ll have plenty of time for everything else…..if you’re ok with that.”
You look at him with wide eyes as you kiss him as hard as you can, “I want nothing more than to be with you.”

♡ Note: WOW!! Posting something for the first time since September, who am I! :D Just a little something that was supposed to be for 911ReaderWeek Day 5. Hopefully I can get back to posting :))
Tumblr media
A yawn left your lips as you stepped out of Buck’s bedroom, sleepily putting your hair into a quick bun before hurrying down the hallway. It was a half-hour till seven, and you had to be out the door for an early shift at the hospital.
All you’d had time for this morning was a quick shower before shuffling into your scrubs. You would be cutting it close as Buck’s apartment was further than from your place, but spending the night with him was always worth the impending rush.
The sweet smell of coffee and cinnamon rolls swirled in the air as you entered the kitchen, a smile crossing your face at the sight of your handsome boyfriend taking fresh pastries out of the oven.
You let your eyes linger for a second on him, taking in his neatly ironed navy uniform that fit him just right. It wasn’t something you were used to, someone up early with you cooking breakfast and happy to see you.
“Morning baby,” you called out, walking over and wrapping your arms around his torso from behind.
“Morning darling,” Buck replied, happily as he placed the tray atop the oven before placing his hands over yours and squeezing gently. “I was just about to go make sure you were up. Sleep well?”
“Not really, someone kept me up all night,” you teased, leaning up to place a kiss on the side of his neck.
Buck chuckled at that, a cheeky grin on your face as he turned around in your embrace as he said, “Hmm, did they give you a good time at least?”
You purse your lips, pretending to think about it for a second.
“Amazing actually. I’m hoping tonight is just the same.”
“Oh trust me it will be, or maybe even better,” he promised, his voice full of love and lust.
You both smiled as your lips met in a sweet passionate kiss, your love for each other all-consuming.
A few minutes passed off the two of you standing in others arms, kissing and being sweet to each other before you remembered you needed to be out the door already.
“Shit, sorry, I’m going to be late if I don’t go now,” you swore, pulling away from him a bit and glancing at the clock on the stove.
“All good sweetheart, but at least take a cinnamon bun before you go,” Buck said as he let you go and turned back to the tray of pastries.
He grabbed one and wrapped it in a paper towel quickly before handing it to you and placing one final kiss on your forehead.
Adoration and fondness at his sweet actions swirled in you as you took it and before you knew it, three little words were spilling out of you.
“I love you.”
The meaningful phrase, though something you and Buck had yet to say to each other, was subconscious.
You hadn’t been able to help it though, as truth be told you’d wanted to say it for quite a while and so it just happened.
It took you a second longer than your now frozen boyfriend to realize what you’d said, and as your eyes met, you gasped.
“Oh — I didn’t mean to say that, well I did mean it, but that wasn’t exactly how I wanted to tell you, though I did want to, I mean…” You trailed off, stumbling over your own words as you frantically thought of what to do and what he must be thinking.
What if he didn’t want to say it back? What if you’d just ruined things? God, this was the happiest relationship of your life, you even suspected he might be the one, and here you were dropping the ‘I love you’ bomb at six in the morning.
Thankfully, before your thoughts can really get away from you, Buck chooses this moment to speak up, repeating your confession back to you, “I love you too, ___,” he confirmed sweetly.
Heartbeat increasing immediately, your cheeks flushed, mouth going too dry to reply.
He loved you. Evan Buckley loved you.
“Now, we should probably talk about this, but you really have to go babe, and so do I,” Buck chuckled easily, happiness evident on his own features. “See you tonight.”
“Tonight,” you somehow managed to get out, before your body, moving on autopilot directed you out of the kitchen and towards the door.
The rest of the day seemed to blur by until it was finally time to clock out and see your lover, the only thought on your mind the resounding fact that you and Buck loved each other.

Baby Box | Evan Buckley
Summary: in which after seeing maddie's baby box, you and buck decide to make one for your two year old.
Pairing: Dad!Buck x Mom!Reader
Warnings: Implied smut (but nothing explicit), fluff
based off of the episode ‘9-1-1, What’s Your Grievance?’ when Buck’s parents brought Maddie’s baby box
Word count: 0.9k
A/N: I’ve never written anything for buck so this is new to me and i’ve never posted my stuff on tumblr so again, this is pretty new and i’m prepared to this to flop LMAO also i didn’t proofread to good luck 👍
Tumblr media
"So how'd reconciling with Maddie go?" You asked as your fiancé walked through the front door. You put down the sponge you had been using to clean the dishes and wiped your hands on the towel that was sat atop the counter.
Buck hung his coat up and slipped his shoes off before walking towards you and wrapping his arms around you, his head resting on your shoulder. You smiled at your cuddly fiancé and reached back slightly to thread your fingers through his hair.
"It went really well." He responded to the question you asked a moment ago. "She apologized and so did I. Then we were talking out her baby box. You know, it got me thinking."
"Oh really? About what?" You asked before turning around, his arms still around you.
"It's just... we don't really have anything special to put Eva's stuff in." The mention of yours and Buck's two year old daughter who was currently sleeping in your shared bed (because she claimed it was comfier) made your heart flutter with joy.
"What, you think we should make some sort of baby box for her?"
"Well, yeah. I mean a shelf in the closet isn't gonna hold for very long. One day she's gonna wanna see all that stuff from when she was a kid and we can't exactly hand her the shelf." He told you as you laughed at his words.
"I guess you're right. We could get one of those storage chests. I'm pretty sure they sell them in Ikea." You suggested, running your fingers through his hair once more.
Small thumps rang through the apartment as something made impact with your leg. You looked down to find your daughter staring back at you with her blue eyes she had inherited from her father. Buck's smile grew as Eva came into his view. He lofted her up with a faux groan before placing her on his hip.
"Daddy, I missed you." She mumbled, still sleepy from her nap. Buck kissed her cheek as she leaned into his touch. It warmed your heart that they had such a close relationship.
You still remembered the day that Eva was born and Buck had promised her that he wouldn't be like his parent. That he would pay attention to her and love her and care for her and never make her feel unloved or unwanted.
So far, two years later, he's kept his promise.
"I missed you too, E." Buck said to the toddler.
"You were late. Mommy said that you were doing something imporant." Her words slightly misspoken, as she was struggling with the correct pronunciation of words. You reached out and caressed your baby's face.
"I was with your Aunt Maddie. We're talking about some... family things." He explained.
Eva nodded slightly, acting as if she understood when you both knew she didn't truly know what he was talking about and that she was just happy he was home.
Tumblr media
“Just one more sticker?”
Your pleading eyes met Buck’s as you held the butterfly sticker in your hand. Buck sighed and shrugged, knowing you wouldn’t listen to him even if he said no. You beamed as you placed the sticker, admiring your handiwork.
The two of you admired the bejeweled and sticker covered box with the name ‘Eva’ written in big letters on the front that had been sitting on top of the coffee table. The box only had a few things in it, seeing as Eva wasn’t exactly grown yet and had milestones that were yet to be made.
Her first onsie— the one she wore when you took her back from the hospital after her birth— was in it, along with her baby shoes and photos that Maddie and Athena had taken from her birth, photos Buck took of her (because if you were being honest he took a lot of photos of her) and even recent photos like the one you took at the park last week when let her swing on the swings and play on the slides.
The box hadn’t even been filled 1/4 of the way but knowing that one day your daughter was going to open this and see all the memories made you and Buck ecstatic.
“I think it looks pretty good.” Buck complimented as he sat back. You did the same, snuggling into him, both of you still looking at the box.
“I may have gone overboard on the stickers though.” You admitted as you scrunched up your nose at the sight of all the colorful butterfly and heart stickers. Buck laughed at you before agreeing.
“Just a little.” He replied.
The two of you stayed in that position for a bit longer, snuggled up together as you sat on the couch with his arm behind you in the classic faux ‘yawning’ position before Buck began to smirk.
You took notice of his facial expression and furrowed your brows in confusion.
“What’s that face for?”
He looked down at you as his smirk grew wider. “Y’know, Bobby and Athena promised to watch Eva until 8 and it’s only 4.” He informed you.
“Yeah, so?”
“So... I know a way we can pass the time.”
An invisible lightbulb formed above your head as you began to understand what he was getting at. Your expression mimicked his smirk before you stood up in front of him. You extended your hand towards him and cocking your head towards your shared bedroom
“C’mon.” Was all you needed to say before he put his hand in yours and you dragged him into the bedroom to kill time.

“Buck, why do you own five of the exact same shirt?” + w/ reader!
“Buck, why do you own five of the exact same shirt?” you ask while sorting through your boyfriend's closet to make some room for your own belongings.
Buck argues, "They're not the exact same!"
You turn to give him a look, that one he should immediately recognize as you calling him on his bullshit, and he sighs and sits on the bed, tossing a ball back and forth between his hands.
He looks so sad that you can't help but walk over to him and wrap your arms around his neck, slotting yourself between his knees.
As if on instinct, he drops the ball he was distracted with in favor of wrapping his arms around your waist and resting his chins against your stomach with a pout on his lips.
"I just like the style and there was a sale and Eddie got the same exact ones and I don't see you going after him for his bad influences--"
You can't help but kiss him, not only so he stops talking, but to make sure he knows how much you adore him and all of his little quirks.
Send me an ask with the first sentence of a fanfic and I’ll write the next five

"Noo not now!" Buck whined at the ringing alarm bell. The food on his spoon almost close enough to touch his lips. You giggled, grabbing a piece of bread and putting it in your mouth before running off to get your uniform on. Eddie waited for you at the truck, your helmet already in his hands, leaning against the red door so you can get in first. "Hello handsome." You teased as you climbed in. His cheeks flushed, playfully rolling his eyes as he gave you the helmet with your name on. The door closed behind him and at a fast speed the truck started moving.
"What are we looking at, cap?" Eddie asked throught the combs. His eyes landed on you. You were sitting in front of him, your seatbelt thigtend against your chest, your hand resting on the mental part so that when you arrived you would be quick to unbuckle it.
"Car accident." Bobby replied, looking at his team throught the rearview mirror. "It's not gonna be pretty."
You took a deep breath as you caught Buck nervously shuffling in his seat. Calls like these almost always meant a heavy outcome.
Eddie brushed his foot against yours, a wordless gesture of asking if your were okay. You nodded, smiling at his concern. "I can't wait when we are finished with this shift." You admitted. "I wanna finally eat."
"Oh, same here y/n." Buck agreed. "I'm starving." Eddie's mouth curled up in a small smile, refusing to keep his eyes of you. He admired your succesfull attempt to make the mood a bit lighter since he knows you aren't keen on heavy silences.
Once you arrived at the scene, you patiently awaited captain's orders. Two cars where smashed into each other as the third laid further down on it's back. Four people where involved with one victim who's injuries were already fatal. The team moved quickly as you were the first to arrive at the scene.
"Eddie, Y/n?" Bobby yelled. "Go look at the car further down and give me an update."
You quickly sprinted over to the upsidedown car, gear in hand and Eddie next to you. A man, about 30, layed unconscious in his car seat. The seatbelt stopping him from completely falling to the ground. You tried your best to examine him in his current situation. But the door had blocked all your access, luckily the man had his window open. You kneeled down so you could feel for a heartbeat. "I got a pulse!" You yelled, feeling the skin under your finger move in a slow pace. "We'll need a neck brace and an IVE. Can you call for extra backup to get him out?"
Eddie nodded, rushing to the truck while updating dispatch and Bobby on the current situation.
Your brain was looking at all the different options to get the man safely out. In your head you had already sawn off the door and got the backup to help you get him back down. But in reality it would be taking a bit longer so you had to find a way to keep him alive until then.
You were deep in thought until Eddie's screams pulled you back out. You looked over at him. He was running towards you but yelling for you to get back. In a split second your brain switched and you were hearing clearly what he was saying. "The motor!" He yelled. "It's gonna explode."
You were still positioned on the ground, you tried crawling back but a hand suddenly grabbed your uniform, stopping you from moving. "I'm sorry. I'm sorry." You cried, looking at the passenger who had just woken up. His grip was ferm and before you knew it there was an explosion. Your body flew to the side. A stabbing pain in your side and a pounding headache made it unable for you to get back up.
Oh no. You though, seeing the ground underneath you turn into a puddle of blood.
"Y/n? Y/n!" Eddie cried, falling to his knees, his hands shaking. He tried whiping away the blood from your face, stroking some hair behind your ear before grabbing your cheeks in his hands. "Oh honey. Oh god."
"Eddie?" You breathed weakly, noticing the blood on his clothes. "Are you okay."
The firefighter tried to staunch the blood on your side while panicked breaths left his lips. His eyes were red and full of terror. "Eddie, I'm fine. I promise." You mumbled, not fully processing how bad it was. You weakly grabbed onto the hem of his shirt. The blood on your hands left a red stain the shape of you fingerprints. Oh. It isn't his blood that he was covered in. Your vision started to blurry, breathing started to hurt, your ears were ringing and your head was pounding so hard you were afraid your heart was gonna burst out of your body.
"Just look at me." Eddie assured. As he watched the rest of the team help him out with stopping the blood from leaving your body. You looked down at the nagging pain. A sharp piece of metal was struck right through your side. Looking at it made it worse. The pain was stronger then ever. "Hey look at me. You're alright." Eddie grabbed your hand, squeezing it as hard as he could. He was trembling over his words but you didn't care. All you could think about was him. His eyes. His beautiful eyes being filled with worry. "I'm sorry." You cried. "I'm so sorry." You sobbed, your free hand grabbed his shirt again. You where terrified, completely terrified and all you wanted to do was sink into his arms and never let go. "I'm so tired, Eddie."
"I know baby. I know. But you gotta keep looking at me. Let me see those pretty eyes." You couldn't help the hot tears streaming down your face. Your breathing became more shallow and your eyelids more heavy. It was getting harder to stay awake. You tried. You really tried. Eddie was mumbling to keep you awake but you couldn't hear anything cleary at this point. Hen secured the piece of metal that was crushed into your side. She and the team helped you on a curney while Eddie kept by your side. Your hands still locked into each other.
You felt so weak and in so much pain. You saw the sky moving above you as they rolled you to the ambulance. You vaguely heard your panicked colleges and conversations over dispatch but it was all too foggy to clearly hear what they were saying.
The sky looked pretty that night. The stars seemed to be perfect. But you were tired. And ready to go to sleep.
Tumblr media
You were awoken by a soft buzzing sound and some distant chatter that you couldn't make out. Opening your eyes seemed harder then you rememberd. Your eyelids felt heavy. You started flickering them until you were used to the white light that the room illuminated.
Your throat felt afwul and there was still a sharp pain on your side but this time more bearable. Your eyes closed shut a few times again and here and there you drifted back into a deep slumber.
Once you slept off your anesthesia you were able to think again. You opened your eyes and tried to locate were you where. You fell a soft hand touching yours and after you carefully tilted your head, you saw your tired boyfriend sitting next to you. His hair was a mess and his head was resting on your bed. He was snorring a little and you smiled at the peaceful state he looked in. A nurse walked into the room. He greeted you but lowered his voice once he saw Eddie sleeping.
"He has been here quite a while." The nurse admitted while they checked your obs. "How are you feeling?"
You carefully nodded your head. "I'm fine. Could be better though." The nurse smiled sympathetically. Once he was done checking your vitals the doctor wandered in.
She told you they were able to successfully remove the metal and that you should be able to make a full recovery. "You did lost a lot of blood and suffered some head trauma so you'll have to take it very easy, y/n." The doctor warned. "Lot's of rest and taking it very easy. I'll let a chiropractor come and visit you once you're feeling better so they can discuss further treatment with you. For now I'll give you something more for the pain and some ice for your throat. You're very lucky, y/n. This could have taken a very different turn." She said before leaving the room to let you rest.
You took a deep breath. Your hand softly combed through the messy brown hair of the Diaz sleeping next to you. He stirred in his sleep, muttering your name a few times before realizing what was happening.
His head abruptly perked up. "You're awake." He whispered, almost not believing his eyes. He immediately sat up straight, his right hand holding yours.
"How are you feeling?" He asked.
"I'm alive." You smiled. "But I'm still starving."
Eddie let out a soft laugh, he tried his best to hide the tears that were forming in his eyes.
"You scared me y/n." He admitted. "You really did."
"I know."
Eddie leaned forward, pressing a soft kiss to your temple. He brushed some hair away, his fingers following the soft skin of your cheeck. "You're going to be okay." You were afraid and in pain but seeing him here made it for some reason go all away a little. "And once we're home I'm gonna cook you the best meal you ever had." He laughed, trying to see you crack a smile in which he succeeded.

Kick | Our Hearts Beating As One.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ Pairing: Eddie/Preg!Reader ♡ Genre: Fluff, Pregnancy, Family vibes ♡ Word Count: 591 ♡ Warnings: Pregnancy ♡ Summary: You feel your baby girl kick for the first time. ♡ Note: I’ve decided to start a lil mini Drabble series for this! Lots of preggo thoughts have been on the mind and I think this could be cute. Plz feel free to request scenarios for them!
Tumblr media
.(♡).
It was a quiet Sunday afternoon in the happy Diaz home. It was Spring, but the weather was still warming up and thus quite cold outside, so the three of you had decided to hang out at home for the day. That meant movies, snacks, and snuggling together on the couch with Christopher nuzzled in between you and Eddie.
My Neighbor Totoro was currently playing, which Christopher had been begging you and Eddie to watch for a few weeks now. It had been hard to get to it. Life has been hectic, especially with you being sixteen weeks pregnant and working. Not to mention Eddie and Christopher’s busy schedules.
Therefore, the three of you cherished this precious time together.
You were so relaxed and cozy, curled up with your two favorite people that you were starting to doze off. It didn’t help that Christopher was snuggled against your shoulder, while Eddie’s hand was draped around the couch gently stroking your hair.
Sleep seemed inevitable and you welcomed it, that was until you felt a sudden sharp kick.
Sitting up in surprise, your hands flew to your stomach as you gasped. You hadn’t felt the baby kick yet at all. Your doctor had said it should be coming any day now, but to actually experience it.. You almost couldn’t believe it happened.
“Sweetheart, what’s wrong? Are you in pain?” Eddie asked, hurriedly pushing himself up from the couch and crouching down next to you in concern.
Christopher stayed quiet, eyes flickering between you and his father with worry.
“Oh yes - I’m fine. I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to scare either of you,” you said quickly, “it’s just I think the baby kicked for the first time.”
“Ah, Dr. Celiner said she would be soon, that’s amazing,” Eddie said, visibly relaxing.
“Really? My baby sister is kicking now?” Christopher whispered as he leaned forward, his hazel eyes glowing with excitement.
You smiled softly at his reaction as you reached out to gently brush his hair back. It was always so endearing to see how excited Christopher was about the baby. He had already told everyone how proud he was to soon be a big brother.
Glancing at your boyfriend, you noticed how happy he looked at Christopher’s reaction. Eddie had initially been very worried about how his son would feel about the pregnancy. That worry had been for naught. Christopher was over the moon at the thought of his baby sister and the four of you soon being a family.
“Yes Chris and oh - she just kicked again. Would the two of you like to feel?
Christopher gulped, his eyes widening as he nodded before slowly placing a hand on your stomach.
Eddie smiled and joined his son, placing his hand right beside Christopher’s.
The three of you waited with baited breath until the next kick came. It was a soft flutter this time, but enough to be felt.
Christopher laughed with joy, “I can feel it! There she is!”
“How perfect she is,” Eddie cooed.
“Mhm,” you murmured with pride, so happy to be sharing this moment with the two of them. “I love you both so much.”
Christopher grinned sweetly, looking bashful as he threw his arms around you and whispered the same back to you.
Eddie joined in, squeezing you both before placing a gentle kiss on both of your foreheads.
In this moment, the three of you could feel nothing but the strength of your bond and love for each other. And soon your sweet bundle of joy would be here to complete your budding family.

PAIRINGS —  Bobby Nash x GN!Reader
SUMMARY —  Bobby goes to Venice beach after a hard 48 hour shift
WARNINGS — mentions of death, angst, sadness
NOTE — This is a lot shorter than what I normally write but I had an itch to write something based on My Heart is Buried in Venice and this scene came to my mind hope you guys enjoy being hurt as much as i do ._.
My Heart is Buried in Venice | Ricky Montgomery
Tumblr media
The waves crashed quietly against the shore while the water reflected the sparkling stars. Bobby dropped his phone in the sand and sat down facing the ocean. He hadn’t slept properly in 48 hours, the end of a long shift filled him with restlessness and an inability to close his eyes. So he stared at the horizon, where the water met the sky and the stars and moon danced in their reflections.
It had been a difficult few days, the team was all feeling it, he only hoped that after taking the time to speak with each of them they felt a little better than he did.
He felt the sand shift next to him and when he turned his head he saw you squatting down into a seated position to join him.
He frowned, he hadn’t told anyone he was coming here.
“How did you know I was here?” he asked simply, turning back to look at the rippling water.
“You always come here when you’re upset,” you shrugged. “Thought it was worth a try.”
He nodded his head and continued to stay silent. You gave him a moment to adjust to your presence before carefully moving closer to him and holding his hand that was nearest to you, fingers intertwined.
You knew why he came here. Somewhere that seemed so unlike his usual scene. He said his heart was buried here. You never really knew what that meant, but it made it a little easier to find him on days like this.
Bobby leaned a little closer to you, his head finding a comfortable place to rest on your shoulder. His attitude over the years had changed so strikingly compared to the closed off, reserved, and efficient fire Captain you had first met, and for that you were grateful. You held him close and pressed a kiss to his temple,
“You don’t have to be strong for me,” you whispered. “Not like you are for everyone else. You know that.”
He nodded his head slowly, his composed façade cracking with every word and action of compassion and comfort.
“It’s his birthday today, isn’t it?” you asked and Bobby nodded again, a few tears managing to slip through.
“He would have been 17,” he whispered, the first time he had spoken up since you first arrived. “I used to promise him and his sister that I’d bring them here someday.”
He sniffed and squeezed your hand a little tighter, shutting his eyes so his tears couldn’t glisten in the moonlight.
“I wish I brought them here when they were still alive,” he choked slightly on his words, “But all I ever did was spread their ashes here.”
You shut your eyes, fighting back your own tears while he trembled against you.
“I’m just so tired,” he broke down into tears, hiding his face in the crook of your neck.
You let go of Bobby’s hand and pulled him closer to you, cradling his head gently.
“I’m sorry,” he apologized. “I-I’m-,”
“Shh,” you hushed him gently. “It’s okay. It’s gonna be okay.”
Bobby was always everyone’s shoulder to lean on, but that never meant he was immune to what came with the job. Just maybe a little better at hiding it than everyone else.
“You’re allowed to be tired,” you told him. “Allowed to not be okay, you’re allowed to miss them, Bobby. But you’re not allowed to deal with this alone. There’s always someone out there who cares for you, whether it’s me, or Buck, Chim, Hen, Eddie. We all love you. I love you.
It wasn’t an uncommon exchange of words between you and your teammates, but something this time made it feel different.
Bobby nodded his head again and wiped away his tears with the sleeve of his sweater.
He lifted his head from your shoulder and turned to look at you. It was clear you could both do with a little rest and relaxation, but this was one of those moments where life goes on, with or without you.
He gently cupped your cheek with his hand and leaned down slightly to press a kiss to your forehead.
“I love you too.”
You closed your eyes for a moment at the sound of those words. It was the best way he knew how to say thank you for looking out for me. You took his hand in yours again and pushed yourself up off the sand.
“Come on, let’s get you home.”
He followed your lead and grabbed his phone from next to him, before walking with you, side by side away from the shore.
All those times, spent alone by the water and all he ever really needed was someone to bring him home.

A chance | Evan Buckley
Sumarry: Buck tries to convince his co-worker Y / n to go out with him.
Pairing: Evan Buckley X Reader
Characters: Evan Buckley, Y/N, Eddie, Hen, Chimney, Bobby, Athena (Mentioned)
Word Count: 752
A/N: I’m sorry if this is short, I will do more with Buck soon. I’m sorry for being so long without posting too, I had a block of creativity, I hope you like it! ♡ English is not my first language, so I’m sorry for any mistakes.
I'm posting this again!
Tumblr media
“I’m just saying that if you gave me a chance, you would have the best date of your life!” Buck says excitedly, as he follows Y / n through the station.
“Buck, you know that going out or dating your co-workers is not a good idea.” Y / n says walking up the stairs to the kitchen, listening to Buck snort behind her.
“This is what others say, doll, we would be proof that they are wrong.” Y / n laughs at his insistence and sits at the table, and Buck sits next to her laughing too “At least I managed to get a smile out of her” thought Buck.
“What are lovebirds talking about?” Hen arrives in the kitchen with Chimney
“Y / n doesn’t want to go out with me, because she thinks it’s not a good idea to go out with a co-worker.” Buck says offended.
“Yeah, she’s right, this is a bad idea.” Chim says, and Hen agrees.
“Come on guys, give me a hand, look at Bobby and Athena, it worked for them.” Buck says hopeful.
“No Buck, Bobby and Athena don’t work together, sometimes they meet at work, it’s different.” Y / n speaks laughing when he sees Buck’s puppy eyes.
“Y / n, I need you a minute.” Captain Nash calls Y / n downstairs.
“I’m sorry, Buck, I still haven’t convinced myself.” Y / n speaks down the stairs to see what your captain wants.
“I’m still going to be able to convince her.” Buck says leaving too.
A few days later, Buck was still determined to convince Y / n to go out with him, so one evening, while at Eddie’s, Buck had a great idea.
“Eddie, can you lend me Christopher?” Buck asks Eddie, who is putting a lasagna in the oven, that night Eddie decided to prepare dinner and invite everyone on his team, and Buck decided to arrive early to help Eddie in case he needed anything.
“What do you mean?” Eddie asks suspiciously.
“I had an idea to convince Y / n to go out with me, but it will only work if Christopher participates.” Eddie can’t contain a loud laugh.
“Forget about Buck, even Christopher can’t do that, she won’t be going out with you.” Eddie says patting Buck on the shoulder.
“Please Eddie, let me try.” Buck pleads, and Eddie laughs at his despair.
“Okay, but don’t say I didn’t warn you when it doesn’t work.” As soon as Eddie says this, Buck celebrates leaving the kitchen excited, looking for Christopher.
“Christopher big boy, I need your help for one thing, here’s the plan …” Buck says entering Christopher’s room and sitting next to him on the bed.
And while Buck was teaching Christopher what to do, the team was arriving little by little at Eddie’s house.
“Alright buddy, you know what to say, right?” Buck says, helping Christopher down from his bed.
“Yes I know.” Christopher agrees, and the two leave Christopher’s room and go to the room where everyone is.
As soon as the two leave Chris’s room, Buck starts looking around looking for Y / n, and his eyes sparkle when he finds her sitting on the couch talking to Eddie and Hen.
Y / n laughs at something Hen says, and her head turns towards Christopher and Buck, at the same time that Y / n sees Christopher, she rises from the couch and goes towards the boy.
“Hi Christopher, how are you? I missed you so much.” Y / n says bending down to stand at Christopher’s height, and hugging the boy carefully.
“I’m fine Y / n, but I’d be better off if you hit Uncle Buck,” Christopher says, and Y / n looks at him confusedly.
“Get out Christopher, if you go out with Uncle Buck.” Buck says in Christopher’s ear, but Y / n notices and understands it immediately.
“Nice try, Buck.” Y / n says laughing and then gives Chris a kiss on the cheek and lifts her up.
“What about me? Don’t I get a kiss?” Buck speaks sadly, and Y / n rolls his eyes.
“You will win after our meeting” Y / n says, getting shy and Buck smiles, surprised and happy.
“Does that mean you’re going to give me a chance?” Buck says happy, and Y / n agrees smiling.
“I think we deserve a chance.” Buck opens his arms, calling Y / n for a hug, and she shyly accepts hugging Buck’s waist.
“You will not regret.” He gives a kiss on the top of Y / n’s head.
And she definitely didn’t regret it.

🍓taking a bubble bath with buck to pamper him 🥺🥺🥺
I feel like Buck would resist spa days at first
At least if they’re centered around him
If you tell him that you need one he is all for it
So when you can tell he’s stressed you run a bath and wrap around him
“I need a relaxing night, come take a bath with me.”
And he’s stripping immediately
The two of you sitting snug in the bathtub
You behind him because you begged to have him sit between your legs
And you’re cleaning his back and rubbing his arms
Kissing at his neck
Washing his hair
Just taking care of him and telling him it’s for your own mental health

Mine | Eddie
Tumblr media Tumblr media
♡ Day Two: Angst for @911readerinsertweek!
♡ Pairing: Eddie/Reader
♡ Genre: Angst, Hurt Comfort, Love Confession, Misunderstanding
♡ Word Count: 1.4k
♡ Beta Reader: by the lovely @nurse-buckley, thank you angel!
♡ Warnings: Mention of Shannon’s Passing, Slight Mention of Alcohol
♡ Summary: When Eddie makes a claim that you’re his, you show up to call him out on the lie.
♡ Note: Woo day two! Lets go!
Tumblr media
It was a quarter to twelve and you were fresh off your long eight-hour shift at the station. Normally, you would be heading straight home to your warm bed, but instead, you were going over to confront Eddie after being told some startling news by Buck.
To say you were pissed at what you’d been told one of your closest friends had done would be an understatement. You were livid, outraged, and ready to tell him off like nobody ever had before.
It was the first time you’d ever been so upset with the man, and you hoped it would be the last, as you truly didn’t enjoy feeling such intense negative emotions. Any attempts at calming yourself down in the fifteen-minute drive over there were useless, Buck’s words only echoing louder and louder in your head as you pulled into Eddie’s driveway.
You slammed your car door behind you a little harder than necessary, not paying much attention to it as you stormed up to Eddie’s front door. You held yourself back from knocking too loudly however as you didn’t wish to wake his son up.
Eddie answered the door half a minute later, already in pajamas looking half asleep as he ran a hand through his messy chocolate brown hair. He eyed you in a mixture of confusion and surprise.
“___, what are you doing here? Is everything okay?” He asked, fighting away the tiredness in his voice as he searched your face.
“No, everything is not okay, Eddie.” You fumed, “Please come outside so we can speak. I don’t want to wake up Chris.”
His eyebrows furrowed at that and he shook his head once, “He’s spending the night over at Abuela’s with his cousins. Just come in.”
“Fine,” you muttered as you walked past him, relieved to hear you could speak freely.
You walked over to the green floral couch in the living room and sat arms crossed.
If gazes could kill, you were sure Eddie would be about six feet under as you regarded him right now. He seemed unfazed though as he took a seat on the brown recliner across from you, eyeing you with questions in his eyes.
“So… Are you going to let me know what’s going on?” He prompted after a moment.
Eyes narrowed, you crossed your arms over your chest.
“Oh no, it’s you who’s going to do that, Eddie.”
He scratched his head at that. “Uh, I’m lost.”
Well, you would just have to enlighten him then.
“I had a very interesting conversation with Buck earlier.”
That seemed to click something in his mind, and he shifted uncomfortably in the chair. His jaw tightened and he averted his gaze from yours.
“Oh?”
“Yeah, he told me that two of you went out with some of the crew from the 121 last night. Said things got heated between you and one of their firefighters, Drew.”
“Now hold up a second,” Eddie quickly spoke up, already knowing where this was going as he leaned forward with a look mingling with guilt and frustration, “I’d had a few beers that night and I wasn’t thinking straight.”
“Really?” You scoffed, bitterness soaking your tone, “that’s your excuse for telling Drew ‘back off, she’s mine’? We’re not together Eddie, I am not yours. Don’t you remember? I told you how I felt about you, asked you on a date, and you rejected me.”
The memory of the night you’d finally got the courage up to ask Eddie out only a month ago still stung.
You really thought he was interested in you considering the two of you flirted all the time and hung out nearly every day outside of work. But then he’d rejected you so completely, and now had the nerve to claim you were his, which pissed you off more than anything.
“I only said you were mine because I had to alright?” He defended, standing with his fists balled at his sides, “I mean you should have heard the way he was talking about you! Like you were just some piece of meat he was dying to get a piece of, honestly had Buck not been there to calm me down, I probably would have punched the guy.”
You stood up too, not baking down at all. Sure, this Drew sounded like an absolute asshole, and you wanted nothing to do with him, but you were determined to call out Eddie on his bullshit.
“That’s no excuse for what you said, in my opinion, you’re acting just as worse as him.”
“I am not!” He said, outraged. “I was trying to protect you from that creep.”
“I don’t need your protection, Eddie. I’m an adult perfectly and capable of looking after myself.”
He sighed, “I know that.”
“Then why?” You pressed, trying to figure out why he did what he did. A part of you suspected the answer, but he needed to say it, not you.
He opened his mouth to reply, unknown emotions smoldering in his eyes, only to stay quiet.
You waited, hand on your hip for him to say something, anything to explain his unreasonable behavior.
However, he simply looked away, his face unreadable, not offering you an explanation in the slightest.
“Whatever, I’m leaving,” you huffed, turning around and heading for the door.
If he didn’t want to tell you why then you weren’t going to stand around and try to force him to.
Eddie seemed frozen for a second, not moving until the thud of your footsteps shook him out of his own thoughts.
“Wait, ___. Please don’t go, stay,” Eddie begged, hurrying forward and grabbing your wrist. His grip was loose enough that you could easily pull away, but you decided not to, instead stopping like he’d asked, but refusing to turn and face him.
“Why should I?”
Your words were short and distant, but you would give him one more chance to make things right between the two of you.
“I’m sorry, okay? It was stupid of me to do that and I only did out of jealously because....” He trailed, taking in a shaky breath before he continued, “I have feelings for you.”
Butterflies fluttered in your stomach at his confession, heat flaring behind your cheeks as you fought to keep a composed expression. You knew that might’ve been why, but with all the mixed signals Eddie had given, you hadn’t wanted to hope. Still, you needed to understand fully.
“Why didn’t just tell me that?”
“I was scared alright? You’re the first person I’ve had feelings for since Shannon passed away, and I have to consider my child too and the changes it would have on our life if I started dating. But I just can’t deny it anymore. I mean everyone at the station knows I’m head over heels for you, hell even Chris has noticed it, but I know I’ve screwed things up and hurt you, and I’m so sorry.”
As he finished, he dropped your wrist, causing you to turn and gaze at him with concern. Many expressions spread across his face: apprehension, hope, shame, but most of all sincerity.
You knew without a doubt how hard it must have been Eddie to confess all of this to you, and you appreciated it more than he would ever know. You’d had no idea he was holding all of these deep feelings inside and he truly must have been hurting.
Not wanting to waste another second, you turned to him and slowly brought your hand up to his left cheek, caressing tenderly as your eyes locked. Eddie shivered beneath your touch, watching your every action with bated breath.
“Eddie, I still feel the same about you, and while I wish we could have talked about this sooner, I understand. You’ve gone through a lot and you’re a devoted father. I could never fault you for any of that.”
“Thank you, that’s more than I deserve,” he murmured, leaning into your warm touch.
“You deserve everything,” you responded simply, moving closer and closer to him until there were only inches left between your lips and his.
The kiss was sweet and slow, lips moving together gently until you both pulled away, gauging each other’s reaction, and then you were entangled again, pulling him in closer as he wrapped his arms around your waist.
By the time the two of you parted fully from the passionate embrace, you were both a bit out of breath, your foreheads pressed against each other.
“So,” Eddie started after a moment, a soft smile on his face, “does this mean your really mine now?”
You chuckled at that, “Hmm, are you asking me to be?”
“I am.” He responded a bit of nervousness in his tone.
“Then I’m all yours and you’re all mine.”
