HA I'm 100% not making this camp nanowrimo goal

#I have written: 800 words so far wITH THE GOAL TO WRITE 10K?? HAHHAA #what's funny is I wrote 10k in February #about 20k in Jan #couple thousand in Dec #50k in nov #SO TELL ME WHY I'M DISAPPOINTED BY THE IDEA OF NOT HITTING THIS GOAL #listen... not making the goal doesn't make me feel sad because I'm not making the goal #makes me feel sad because idk! I love writing! I want to do that! I love living IN it #and for me living in it is soooo in the drafting process #and I feel like I've done a really... wonderful job at prioritizing writing & now I'm realizing I need to be #gentle with myself LOL #I'm moving this month after thinking I'd be moving in june #OBVIOUSLY I just finished my degree #I'll be moving into my own room (FIRST TIME EVER!! HAVING MY OWN ROOM!! A CONCEPT!!) when I get back home #lots of change haha #I think the mental strain of all of that has just made me tired #but it's not like I don't want to write ! I do! but I'm tired and that's what makes me sad #not being able to do the thing because I'm tired! #anyway I don't usually care this much about progress but I guess #since nano it's been nice to see the “progress” not because it's progress but because #to me it shows that I'm doing this thing I love very much #anyway proud of me for all I do! #I actually think this is why write every day works better for me than word count goals #(THE HORRORS THAT I ACTUALLY FOLLOW THIS ADVICE NOW HAHAHA) #but I liked that better cuz it was like... oh if I literally write ONE word I hit that goal LMAO #think I'll pivot my goal to that and whatever I write I write! #also writing frequently is kind of a must for me considering my short term memory is just awful #I find I get confused and flustered and overwhelmed when I don't write for a couple days #but yeah one word a day??? i can do that!

this coming weekend is officially a Dale weekend. i should have put up the next Free Piano chapter this past sunday, but i'm behind (which is why Dale basically posted an entire week late).

work is still really busy (i'm at the office right now)

my plan though is that i'm gonna prioritize Dale and then post a few off sunday Free Piano parts to get back to my original schedule for that story, hopefully within a week or two cuz i'm also trying to do nanowrimo? which is probably a mistake? and work likely isn't gonna slow down, though i'm trying to catch back up with that too

i just don't want to get behind on Dale because January-March is The Busy Season for my work and i will be on hiatus for probably all writing during those months (which i did last year and is why there was that big gap between Part 3 and Part 4 lol) it might be more mid-Jan to mid-April but still a three month hiatus

my ao3 wordcount for 2022, as of today:

that doesn’t include at least 120k of original stuff, if somewhat sleep-deprived memory serves. that doesn’t count the 20k oneshot rotting while i put off finishing the last scene, or the 60k fic that’s just getting started. it doesn’t include ideas i started and pushed aside halfway through.

i hate to risk sounding like i’m bragging but damn. it’s not a lot. it’s not anything, to most people, especially being that it’s free labor.

but that’s half a million words there, easy, and i know all of them are good. i have faith in my competence.

whatever else comes out of this year, i did that much. and i know wren from last november wouldn’t have dreamed of a 500k year, let alone a 500k year i wasn’t even trying to pull. the only person i ever have to impress is my former self, right?

I want to participate in nanowrimo this year but can’t decide what to do. What would you guys want to see from me? Can’t promise I’ll stick with the winner but I’m interested to know what my readers are most looking forward to.

I would write through November, most likely in first draft stage then start posting polished pieces later in Nov and into December and beyond. This is how I wrote the first 60k-ish words of Jason and the Three Terrors back in 2019. I’ve been writing more lately but it hasn’t been on things that are ready to publish. I’m trying to avoid starting new long-fics when I have a handful not complete.

For WIP Wednesday, which I never do but am doing this week, I am showing you ten of my favorite lines from my Klapollo Bang fic (which is starting posting on Nov 1st). I am doing this bc I need to motivate myself to finish chapters 4-6 which are giving me trouble. I've been writing out of order so I have 50k so far but they're not at the beginning.

Sprinting Weekends

Every Saturday, as well as Oct. 31st and Nov. 30th, we'll host a sprint write-in! These begin at 7pm MST and run until 1am MST. But don't worry if you can't make it! We'll be running sprints throughout the week, as well.

Weekly Marathon

Each week as a group, we’ll be collectively racing toward 20k words! I'll ask for everyone's totals at the end of every week, and what we've all written will be the progress we made to 20k! If we reach all our weekly goals, we'll have written 100k together!

WIP Questions

Every Sunday and Wednesday, I'll share a WIP question for everyone to answer. Use this to get excited about and flesh out your WIP!

Show and Tell

On Saturdays, I'll ask everyone to share something about their WIP related to a theme. Use this to get excited about your WIP and maintain momentum!

P.S., Your goal doesn't have to be 50k to participate in our events!

Your goal doesn't even have to be a word count! It could be hours, pages, or anything that works best for you.
