Holy moly a rendered drawing!? And it's Flatland!? AND it's sort of gijinka-fied?!?!?!? Crazy.
Drip or drown fellas? Be honest lol.
Okay, so some design choices I wanted to point out and "explain":
A. Square does not look any different because he is peak performance. The whole thing of 2D creatures who live "water" and look like amoebas was too good to tarnish. I kept it simple, gave him some boots to help with gravitational pain n stuff on his feet, and he has glasses cuz I saw some character in the movie with them and I thought it would vibe well. He looks a little older because of them, but whatever. The nerd needs to look like a nerd.
A. Sphere I took so many liberties with. At first, I went with the most basic CEO fit I could come up with, found it boring, gave him a vest and bowtie, cut the bowtie for a normal tie and gave him rainbow suspenders, then gave him the bracelets for funsies. The most consistent thing through all the versions was the analog watch (that he probably can't read lol).
He doesn't really feel like a CEO anymore, but c'mon, in canon he's a gold sphere and the only metallic solid. He's gonna look flashy and extra. It's a given.
Are you reeeally a Flatland fan if you haven't drawn or edited an image of A. Square being yeeted like a frisbee?
I feel like this is a staple, and I found this really amusing stock image that just fit so well.
I made the whole Flatland species friend-shaped. As an OSC person (yes I'm working on stuff related to it give me a sec), I could not see the Flatlanders as anything more than the silly stick limbed creatures of that community.
Spacelanders are different, but that's more so because of how the book refers to them. "Spacelanders" in the book, although the context is probably just different 3D shapes, are addressed as people who have people systems who do people things. So, I designed accordingly. (Also, I did NOT want A. Sphere to look like that one Pacman TV show. I think I would have combusted before finishing if he did.)
These were some doodles I worked with for just looks purposes. The tendrils(?) on their corners are the longest ones on their bodies. Circles have them all mostly uniform cuz they're boring.
Below is a close up of A. Square, some progress photos, and the reference image of meme.
3D print sculpted by Bulkamancer, printed in Siraya Tech grey UV Resin on my Elegoo Mars 2, and hand-painted by me! I cannot be more pleased with how he turned out 🥰
Detailed shots under the cut
Had to share all these gorgeous details, like the TEXTURES on this models are just gorgeous! All that filigree and bead detailing is raised which made painting it much easier, but still very tedious (so worth the results though). This was my first time painting a face bigger than tabletop mini scale, and boy was I intimidated. Had some friends point me to ball-jointed doll makers and learned about detailing faces with chalk pastels, so I used pastels to give his cheeks some colour, blush the tips of his ears, and make the shadows under his eyes. I could go back and add more colour/texture to his hair but I think its best if I leave it, lest I play with it too much and end up ruining things. I have to keep reminding myself that just cause I can see things in macro lens photos, doesn't mean I'm actually able to go correct those things 😅
Regardless, I'm so so happy with how he turned out, and its crazy that I can look at this and go "me!!! I PAINTED THAT!! ME!!!", and now I have a stunning model of everyones favourite lil rat bastard (affectionate) vampire mans💕
aside from the survivors group my favorite scene in saw 3viiDtfc is hoffman's little gone girl montage where he's watching the news report on his saw vi crimes while he sews his face up smashes his cell phone with a hammer and burns his license his police ID and his social security card one by one
and then he takes a moment to stare into the fire like something inside of him has broken and will never heal
Howdy howdy, the few people still following this project! I'm really really sorry for the inactiveness if you were looking forward to the growth of this account. I promise I havent forgotten about it and I've actually been working on (and thinking about) a few things!
First off, 3d models of Siber and Gia are in the works. They have been for quite some time now, and I've only now just begun working on them again.
They're really, really, REALLY, unfinished, and I'm still trying to learn how to properly texture them and mess around with the shaders, while still maintaining the official "splatoony" kinda feel.
Plus, I got other stuff I want to work on outside of these two, and have been somewhat procrasinating on it instead of actually expanding on them and trying to do new things. Whoops.
I've also been brainstorming some music ideas for them, and even shopkeeper designs and so forth. I dont..actually know HOW to make music, but I've been occassionally practicing in FL studio, slowly learning music theory, and I plan on relearning how to use my keyboard rotting in the back of my closet, eventually.
Seasonal art is still going to continue, I ALSO want to rebrand some stuff as well, such as the logo and even the official pngs of them. Since modeling the two, I have changed a few things about their designs, deeming the pngs a tad outdated.
Also, I do want to make a website or a wiki or SOMETHING to slap all of these ideas in as it expands, but again, dont know how to do that yet.
I guess that's all I have to share for now? I apologize for yapping, and I dont know whos gonna read all of this but, still, thank you all for following and viewing Project Peak. I promise, it's not over lol.
OK, so this one miiiight have been made purely for self indulgence 😁🐬🐠
