How old you think are the sakamaki, mukami and tsukinami? i have seen lots of posts and all says different things from each othe, i'm really confused--

This is a really good question. Its something I've always wondered and have been struggling to answer but I will do my best. A while ago I did some extreme math to calculate their age which I will say, I do not recommend such torture to anyone. Plus, I completely forgot the logic behind the formulas so whelp to that. And I think I am either correct or Rejet is inconsistent with their ideas. Either case, something is off and I'll do my best to explain what I think their age range is.

Okay so as I'm sure most of us know, we are aware of their physical age but when it comes to their actual age its tough to say but there are some estimates that could pinpoint a rough estimate as to how old they are.

For example. in one of the drama CDs I believe Reiji was the one who explained to Yui that the mansion that we see in the anime was given to them back in the 18th century? or was it 1800s? I can't remember overall it was a long time ago. And whichever it was they were all grown up to live there on their own as a family. This means for over 200+ years they have looked like teenagers!

The Tsukinami's age also helps us determine the Sakamaki's age. In the Young Blood manga, you can notice that Carla looks just as old as he looks now, and this is when the Sakamaki's were only children. So he and Shin are fairly old. Plus it was stated that they were trapped for thousands of years, so they are old considering that they had some business with their father.

If we also look at Beatrix's attire that Rejet gave her, it is a style that leans more toward the 15-1600s and her children where very young at the time. Of course these years are somewhat misleading because if you think of it, that dress is probably from the demon world so their way of doing things hardly changes. So there is a chance that the attire doesn't greatly respect the time.

However! In another drama CD when the boys were asked about their age Shu said he couldn't remember how old he was exactly but that he was roughly in his early 1,000s. Reiji, Laito, and I believe it was also Kanto who admitted that they were several of 100s of years old. (This was all on the CD which of course I don't remember which one.)

So having said this I've dug far deep to give a good estimate on all this so here it is:

Idk why but this exact number is what I always think of when I see him.

Although in terms of range it would be 1,030-1,080.

he's approaching 1,000 real soon.

I know they are triplets and they were born on the same day, but it's hard to picture they're all the same age. So I gave each a different range for each one because I don't know what to pick, but for them I would say the range is roughly : 715-870

Subaru:

660-700

Kino:

I always feel like he was older but it turns out he's younger than Shu?

Mukami

Now considering that Shu met "young" Yuma or "edgar" in this case, centuries later, it shows how slowly purebloods age and just how fast a turned vampires age, so while the Mukamis look to be the same age as the Sakamakis they're actually younger.

I know the Mukamis are psychically a year apart from each other but you know vampire aging works a little differently. Plus, we don't know how much they really are I'm just going by what age range I see on them.

Ruki

He is old and was probably born in 1500-1700s, as much as I want to say 1800s but we know it's not accurate.

Now idk why but I feel like he was born in the year 1570. (It just sounds right lol)

So for age wise its 518-640

Yuma

He's younger than Kou and it's just so hard to believe.

He's probably 460-580

Kou

500-620

Azusa

440-550

I could see him being in his mid 400s

Oh my, they are very old.

And I'm just going to say it, they do not look like teens. I always felt that they looked like they were in their 20s. Honestly all of them look like their in there 20s.

But anyways, lets keep in mind that Carla looks exactly the same as he does now when the Sakamaks were kids. (This was in the young blood manga btw).

(also please let me know if I'm wrong about my facts so just let me know.)

PoliZ's WIP Update - 10 Apr 2024

A very productive writing week - even if most of my effort was focused on a single work.  I touched  3 fics (2 new works & 1 WIPs) for a total of   2612  words!  

On Ao3, I posted: 

 Chapter Two of A Little Bit Carried Away - an omegaverse WinterIron meet cute/meet ugly fic (now with alternating POV!) 

 The Battle of New York -  an extended scene/Steve POV perspective of the titular event. 

On Tumblr I posted: 

Blinded by Passion - WinterIron ficlet -  “we’ve fallen into bed together - now what?” 

I’m juggling  17 😬 active/semi-active WIPs with my current  deadline being the Alpha Bucky April event and the Post July Break Bingo, which ends in May.  

See  below cut for what I’m working on/planning to work on - arranged more or less by bingos/challenges/etc.  As always, feel free to send me   prompts or plot bunnies as well as asks regarding  any of these projects  or any other WIPs I’ve got out there.   Interaction really helps feed the Muse and keep me motivated!

Alpha Bucky April - [BBE_ABA] - (Ends 30 April) 

@buckybarnesevents   is running another fun event to encourage fanworks featuring Alpha!Bucky - any pairing in terms of characters and/or alignments.  Since I already have a couple of  Alpha!Bucky WIPs, am using this as a good reason to get some work in on them.   There’s also additional challenges that I plan to take on: 

* Breeding Kink/Baby Fever -  Despite mpreg being a pretty major squick for me, I made it work in combination with the  April BaBB prompt Roleplay – plus a fantasy sequence that gets me my WIB Sex Toys fill  – for Chapter Three of   A Little Bit Carried Away.  The POV Tony chapter is a biggie, coming in at 1792 words at the moment (why yes, the title is applying to me right now!)  and will get posted before the end of the month.    The plan is to write a short Chapter 4 interlude (outsider POV) then wrap up with a POV Bucky chapter - but we’ll see how wordy I end up getting!  

* Nesting - This will fit pretty well  into the next chapter of A Sugar-Coated Pill - where Bucky comforts Tony after the bad news he’s gotten and helps him plan what to do next.   It’s currently sitting at 177 words and will crossfill with my WIB Couch Cuddles square nicely.  

* Purring/Affection - This could (and quite possibly will) fit into either/both of the above fics, tbh. 

* Beta Character  - Posted Chapter Two of A Little Bit Carried Away, on Friday - it came in at 1301 words and aroace Natasha makes an appearance. My BBC4 fic (see below) also features  beta!Tony.  

* Double Minimum Req - - see Chapter Three of A Bit Carried Away above, which exceeds the 1500 words required for this challenge  :)  

Post July Break Bingo  [JBB_23p] (Ends May 2024)

Three fills and one WIP on my  2x3 non-fandom-specific card - still working on  potential crossovers.

* A2 - "You knew?"  - matched this up with Chapter Three  of my Stony spyfic WIP -  Keeping All My Secrets Safe Tonight -  it’s coming in at 1079 words and after a bit more editing, should be posting on Friday.     

* B2 - Character’s personality is split into two different beings – I’ve never played with Bucky & the Soldier being two different people, but this seems like the perfect opportunity! Need to see if an BaBB or WIB prompt will work here. 

*  C1 - Touch Starved – another good fit for a Bucky-centric fic. (Steve or Tony or Clint) - again - need to work on crossfills (Warm & Fluffy?) 

* C2 - “What are we?”  Combined this with  last week’s Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF247 Blind Spot]  and a WIB Adoptable: Resolved Sexual Tension  for  Blinded by Passion  - a WinterIron ficlet where Tony and Bucky fall into bed together (implied sexual content) and then have to figure out what comes next.  It came in at 411 words and will post to Ao3 before this event wraps up.

Bucky Barnes Connect Four - Alt Jun-iverse [BBC4_R2]  (Ends May 31 2024)

Another fun event from the good folks over at  @buckybarnesevents! You sign up for a single row card of four squares and the challenge is to see if you can combine any/all into a single Bucky-centric AU fanwork - although you can also create fanworks that are based on a single or combo of 2-3 squares if you want.  

The combo of prompts on my first card [Reality Show,  Omegaverse, Talent/Manager, Royalty] sparked an idea:  Alpha!Bucky as a prince in name only who gets talked into joining a reality show that is supposed to match him up with an omega… but there’s a twist!  Picked this back up and it’s sitting at 766  words so far.  Thinking the Alpha Bucky April event will be a good excuse to get at least a first chapter of this out there! 

Steve Rogers Bingo - Round 3 [SRB_R3] (ends  15 Jun 2024)

Fourteen  fills and no WIPs at the moment  - need to ponder other possible crossovers with my non-fandom cards & BaBB.  

If I can fill either my A4 - Dystopian or  E3 - Steampunk square, I will at least have a bingo for this event!   Let’s see what the next few  Flash Fiction Fridays bring my way….

Hawkeyes Bingo [HB_R2] (Ends TBD) 

Working on this  Tumblr event - got a 3x3 card and and am looking forward to creating more  Clint-centric content and trying my hand at a bit of  Kate Bishop fic as well!    

* A3 - Awkward Flirting – this might be a good entry into my first femslash fic with Kate/Yelena?    

C3 - "I've never been so humiliated in my life."  - filled this on Tumblr last Friday with A Shining Example.  Established WinterHawk where a training session goes embarrassingly wrong and  Clint gives Bucky a pep talk.   It crossed over with the Flash Fiction Friday prompt [#FFF243 Glitter and Blues] and will get posted on Ao3 before this event ends.

while i think both hits and kudos are very flawed statistics i decided to go with hits for this one. my least read five, from the very bottom up are:

i accidentally rambled on (who's suprised? not me) about stats and about quality and about hits vs. kudos and all that nonsense so i'm putting the rest of this post under a cut. before that though, i'm going to link you to what is my 6th fic with the least amount of hits, because i am honestly appalled that it ranks 6th, as it's one of my favourite things i have ever written.

the underdog, the honourable mention, the but-mari-that's-not-in-the-rules:

and now, for my thoughts:

except for that last minute mention, the actual bottom 5 doesn't really surprise me at all. we have both sets of microfics, 2020's and 2021's and I think we all agree short form (especially extremely short form like micros) does much better on tumblr, plus the fact that they're all under the same work on ao3 despite it not being a cohesive story isn't super helpful. they're mostly there for archival purposes, and mostly for me. i do love having them all in the same place, and it does help me personally when i lose perspective. sometimes i open it just so i can tell myself "look at that, you wrote all those 50 word wee fuckers in numerous genres and styles, and tropes and ideas, all of them about the same two guys" lmao as a reader, i would much prefer to come across microfics and drabbles on tumblr than crammed into one work on ao3, so that makes sense to me.

the other three are T rated, short, and on top of that one of them is femslash too! (truly the holy trifecta of nopes, let's be honest there). so, really. this is unsurprising all around.

it's interesting though, because i'm a curious cat, and i couldn't help compare this to my stats by kudos — do keep in mind i never open my statistics page so looking at it to make this post was really cool! i notice that while i understand why none of these have more hits, they're pieces i quite like, personally. they're nowhere near my favourite things i've ever written, but they're stuff i think it's decent. i think they're alright.

on the other side of that though, are my kudos. when i sort by kudos, both sets of microfics are still on that bottom 5, which again, makes sense. BUT very different fics join those at the bottom of the list. interestingly, the other three fics are quite possibly my least favourite things i've written, the ones i keep on ao3 for the sake of archival but secretly pray no one ever reads! they are a lot higher hit-wise than the ones on the list above (E rated, generally quite porny though the writing/tropes/pairings are rather questionable), but they're at the bottom kudos-wise, which is a fun revelation! maybe it means my own judgement isn't that clouded and that readers and i agree when stuff is a bit... you know, shit. LOL

i find it really fun to look at this kind of thing. i do think the whole point of the game was sharing our less-loved stuff in way of reccommending it/getting it more love, and i ended up just analysing the statistics page. i do enjoy all of these, and none of them are shit, but if you were gonna pick any, for the love of god, read Liturgia Horarum.

📗 Step-by-step guide on how to participate in the 2022 Bingo Fest 📗

As there may be people who have never participated in a fandom event like this before, we thought we’d provide you all with a step-by-step guide you can refer to throughout the fest in case you have difficulty figuring any of it out.  

This post will walk you through how to sign up and participate in our current fest, but if you have any further doubts don’t hesitate to ask us :)

Step 1: sign up

The first thing you need to do to participate is to go to this google form to sign up. Signups will be open for the duration of the fest this time, so you can ask for a bingo card at any point between August 1st and September 30th. All that we require is your tumblr url and a way to contact you (like an email or your tumblr itself) so we can send you your bingo card. Once you’ve done that, you’ll receive your card shortly and can start creating!

Step 2: the bingo card

Here is an example of what the bingo card will look like:

As you can see, the cards will be 5x5 with a total of 25 prompts. After you read all the prompts, consider which one(s) you’d like to use as inspiration. Some people start with whichever prompt inspires them, some try to find which line of prompts they like the best (remember you get bingo by completing a straight line of 5 prompts, horizontally, vertically or diagonally). Some even attempt to complete the entire bingo card!

Once you decide which prompt(s) you’ll use, get started on your writing and/or art! You can combine different prompts for one piece or make one fanwork for each. For example, you can use the prompts ‘family’ and ‘prequel’ in one work. Remember that for this fest we set a minimum word count of 500 words per prompt for written fanworks, so if you choose to combine prompts into one fic, the minimum word count adds up (if you choose to combine ‘prequel’ and ‘family’, that’s 2 prompts, so that fic should have at least 1000 words; if you choose to combine ‘prequel’, ‘family’ and ‘torchwood one’ into one fic, the word count should be at least 1500 words, and so on). There is no maximum word count.

Artists can combine as many prompts into one piece as they want, but the total number of individual art pieces we require for bingo is three fanworks (can be a mix of different types of art). Participants can also combine writing and art as their submissions to get bingo.

For fanvideos and video edits you need a minimum of 30 seconds per square to fill the prompt. Prompts can be combined, and there is no maximum length. For playlists, you need at least 3 tracks per prompt, plus a few lines of text to tell the story you’re putting together. This explanation can be written however you want, it can read like a summary of the story, like not!fic, like a short drabble, or you can just say why you picked the songs (e.g. “I picked this song because this lyric fits how this character was feeling when X happened”, or “this song illustrates this character’s opinion about Y”). As usual, prompts can be combined, and there is no maximum length.

Let’s use the sample bingo card to give you some examples of what completing a line might look like.

Note: for the prompt squares that have more than one option separated by slashes (like “plants/vegetables”) you need to use only one of them, the slash stands for “or” in this case.

Example 1: vertical line bingo (writing)

Fic #1: bed sharing, 650 words

Fic #2: rarepair + meet the family, 1000 words

Fic #3: torchwood one, 1400 words

Fic #4: the hub goes on lockdown, 520 words

In this case, each fic reaches the minimum word count of 500 words per prompt, as you can see. This could also look like one fic of at least 2500 words which hits all the prompts. More on posting after a few more examples.

Example 2: diagonal line bingo (art)

Art piece #1: bed sharing, moodboard

Art piece #2: crossover+undercover, digital painting

Art piece #3: family, edit

Art piece #4: plants/vegetables, digital painting

This example has one piece that combines two prompts, and three pieces for single prompts. With a total of four pieces, this counts as bingo (minimum for art submissions is a total of three if all your fanworks are art).

Example 3: horizontal line (writing+art)

Fic #1: torchwood one+prequel, 1200 words

Fic #2: family, 2000 words

Art #1: dancing, traditional drawing

Art #2: andy davidson, 30-second video

This example combines different types of fanworks and clears all the requirements (at least 500 word count per prompt and more than three pieces total).

Sidenote: if you’re having trouble thinking of what to do with a prompt, a good way to come up with ideas is to crowdsource the brainstorming process! Post about it on your blog asking for suggestions, ask a friend, discuss it in groupchats with other fans, or send us an ask for some suggestions.

Remember, you don’t have to go with the most obvious interpretation of a prompt, trope subversion and creative interpretations are welcome here! You got ‘mpreg’ but don’t want to get into an mpreg story? Write about Jack mentioning how there’s a humanoid alien race where men are the ones who get pregnant! Or have him make a comment about a male friend of his from the 51st century who carried a child. Or have any male character have a dream about being pregnant, whether that’s possible for them or not (and this is Torchwood, so nothing is quite impossible). Take the prompt and twist it into something you like!

Step 3: posting your works!

Once you start completing some fanworks, you can post them at any point for the duration of the fest (August 1st to September 30th). While you do not have to post them as you make them and could wait until the last day, we do not recommend that as we foresee there will be more people finishing works at the last minute and so it’ll be easier for your fanworks to get attention if you post them early.

The posting process is simple: you need to post your work on your own tumblr first. This post needs to have: 1) the fanwork or a link to the fanwork, and 2) any relevant content warnings (check our list of mandatory content warnings here). Please note that anything that requires a content warning (including sexually explicit content) should be under a cut.

For fic, we recommend that you share some information in order to give potential readers an idea of what it’s about (title, summary, rating, prompt, and you can add an author’s note or more details if you want), and if you post to ao3, you should add it to our ao3 collection! You can do this when you first post it or go back to edit later under ‘Associations> Post to Collections / Challenges’, where you simply have to type torchwoodbingo2022 and select our collection. Art and fanvids can also be posted to ao3 and added to the collection!

Step 4: submitting your work for us to reblog

After you post your fanwork to your tumblr, you need to copy the link of the post and submit it to this google form so we can reblog it. We will not reblog posts that don’t have the appropriate content warnings so please be sure to warn as needed.

Step 5: creating your masterpost (optional)

Once you’re done with the fest, whether you’ve managed to get bingo or not (or, if you’re very ambitious, if you’ve cleared the entire card), we recommend that you make a masterpost with all the works you’ve made for this fest. The breath of hot ashy smoke hit the air, the stray cigarette across his two fingers as he let his hand fall to his side. He watched carefully, every movement you made speaking to Reiner and Porco with the same look of admiration you had given to him hours prior. He took another drag of his cigarette, putting it out on the balcony as he went to get you away from the two blonds.

“Y/n.” His voice was filled with power and authority, he disregarded the two boys looking at you. “With me.”

It was almost a beckoning as if you were some servant girl ready for his command and will. “I’ll see you both.” You waved goodbye to the two men following the other blond, he grasped your wrist almost dragging you away. “Zeke, woah, calm down.” His grip tightened against your wrist before pushing you into his office.

He let go of your wrist watching at how you rubbed the sore feeling, “have fun?” He questioned leaning against his desk, he eyed you up and down, the military uniform around your body, with the band around your left arm. He waited for a response as you gave a confused look.

“What are you on about now, Zeke?” You muttered crossing your arms.

He repeated, “did you have fun with them?”

“Why do you care?” You glared at his overprotectiveness; it had become a common occurrence for him to call you away whenever you were around the two other blonds, but it had become excessive.

Zeke leant against the bookshelf, staring at you as he brought out another cigarette. Bringing it to his lips and lightning it right in front of you, he took a long drag, watching as the smoke hit the rest of the room.

The first time you had met Zeke had been when the two of you were teenagers, at the tender age of 18, Zeke had already gained the beast titan and you had joined the military for other reasons. A friendship had occurred from the boy who would sneak out of meetings for a cigarette and the girl who had her breaks conveniently when meetings occurred.

“Want one?” His tender baby face had made you swoon, he was perfect in every way, to the way he spoke, to the way he held the cigarette. You shrugged, stopping and sitting beside the boy. He passed the cigarette that had been in his mouth, lightening it in yours as you took a drag, “first time?”

“Was it that obvious?” You laugh holding it between your two fingers.

He gives a chuckle, staring at you taking another drag, “I have a sixth sense, that tells me when pretty girls have been tainted.”

“So what? I wasn't trained before.” You ask.

“I guess, it means that I tainted you now.” He smirked before hearing the shout of a man calling for him. “That’s me, nice to meet you…”

“Y/n Y/l/n.” You answered his pause.

He smiled happily, having been walking backwards to still face you, “nice to meet you Y/n Y/l/n.”

“Wait? What’s your name?” You shouted as he continued to tread backwards not wanting to be shouted at anymore by a superior.

“Zeke Yeager, you better not go forgetting it, sweetheart.” You rolled your eyes chuckling at how the officer began berating the boy who gave a shrug, waving a goodbye at you.

It may have been your first encounter with the boy, but over the years of meeting the other Warriors. The knowledge of Paradis and Zeke’s past, you knew it all and he had gotten protective of the girl he had known for almost a decade now. Maybe it was love out of jealousy which seemed to be the obvious reason between your friends, or maybe he just didn't want anybody stealing you away. You didn’t know and didn’t care, waiting for his reply from your question after another overprotective action.

“They aren’t good for you.”

“Bullshit Zeke, tell me why you act like this now?” You tried to have authority, tried to bring about the same power he brought out, but at the sound of your dominance he laughed.

“Come on, doll, you’re gonna have to try harder to get it out of me, than that.” He took another long drag watching your lip twitch in anger. The feeling of riling you up intoxicated him, how could he not fall in love with that look of anger.

“Don’t be an ass.” You remarked back, walking up to the man and taking the cigarette from his mouth. Taking a long drag yourself as you blow the smoke to the side, you could taste his saliva already around the cigarette, but as you popped it back in his mouth. You felt your anger go down a bit.

He couldn't lie and say he wasn't turned on by your actions, the way you were so close to him yet seemed so far from him. “If you’re not going to give me an answer, I promised Reiner I’d help him with something.”

Just as you were about to leave the room, he grabbed your wrist once more, his grip soft and loose. If you tried, you’d be able to easily get out of it, but you stood faced away from him. Waiting for his next action, “you’re so fucking dense.”

“Me? Dense?” You repeated, “maybe if you didn’t try to hide your feelings through stupid remarks and commands, we wouldn’t be in this situation.”

Zeke was taken aback by how easily you countered in, but he wasn’t letting himself lose to you, “I don’t fucking do that, you’re just stupid.”

“You do realise everybody knows that you’re a jealous prick, that every time you call me it's when I'm around another guy, way to be a subtle asshole.” He had let go of your wrist as you seethed at him in anger.

“I don’t get jealous, who have I got to be jealous of? It's not like every time I see you with a guy, I think you’re going to leave me, you mean nothing to me.” He shouted back, taking another long drag of his cigarette.

You contemplated his words, thinking of what he had just said, “I mean nothing to you?”

Zeke acknowledged his words, staring at you, your lip quivering at his words. “Y/n, wait, I didn’t…” Before he could continue you faced him with a look of sadness.

“If I mean nothing to you, leave me alone.” You were about to leave again; this time Zeke had finally given up on hiding his feelings for you. How could he not love you; how could he not care for someone like you.

In an instant he pushed the door back, his arms on your sides as you faced him. Tears welling up, he moved his thumb to caress your cheek, wiping away your tears, “I’m sorry, I do care about you.”

You don’t speak, not bothering to face him, his ashy breath hits your cheek, waiting for him to continue, “I shouldn’t have said that I like you, I love you even, in all these years, it’s always been you.”

He moves your face to meet his own, his face only a mere inch from you. He had confessed his love so easily, but your silence and lack of tears gave mixed signals. “Me?” Was all you could stifle out.

“You, you’re fucking home to me, okay?” He whispered his mouth lingering just across your own.

“Okay.” You answered, feeling his other hand lean against the door whilst the one caressing your cheek moved to cup your face allowing your lips to touch.

His lips meshed between your own, ask still lingering between both your mouths, you didn't care though. His soft grip on your cheek contrasted the kiss, the sloppy tongue actions, your hands in his blonde hair, the feeling of his beard rub against your skin as he kept on kissing you. He pushed you up against the wall, the gap between your bodies becoming non-existent. His tongue lingered in your mouth as you both went to part, biting your bottom lip to hear your soft moans again. He never expected to have confessed so easily to you and have you in this position.

His body almost crushing you onto the wall, your legs in between his own. He stared at you with his piercing grey eyes meeting your own, it pooled with love and comfort. “I love you too Zeke.”

He gave a soft kiss to your forehead, staying in the position for a while. Waiting for you both to catch your breath and acknowledge that you two could have something with his remaining years.

You saw the clock to the side, a worry erupting from your face, “fuck, I have a meeting with Porco.”

Zeke remained encasing you, disregarding your words, “I think you’ve forgotten who you belong to, doll.”

“Maybe you should tell me again.” You flirted back as you both went in for another kiss.

It had been much softer, with Zeke’s hand moving to your side, holding you in place as he almost smiled through the kiss. “All mine.” He spoke through it giving you another soft kiss afterwards, you were finally all his.

GUIDELINES PART II

- The whole point of this is to be a gift exchange. To get a gift, you must give a gift. If you drop out or disappear, your gift will be given to the group as a whole. Those who disappear without word will be banned from the exchange for one round.

- The story/art must be centered around the Sess/Kag pairing. It doesn’t necessarily have to be focused on romance - it can be based on first impressions, friendship, even some sort of hatred. Side pairings are fine, just as long as it focuses on the relationship between Sesshoumaru and Kagome. This is a Dokuga Holiday Exchange, after all!

- Gifted works must be new to the exchange. Sequels to previous works, new chapters to a current story, ‘deleted scenes’ from other stories, or anything related to any of your previous work isn’t allowed.

-The story/art can be any genre, though you should go by the prompts given to you to make your best judgment. If your prompts are vague, do your best to work with them. But please pay attention to what is requested to stay away from. If a platonic relationship is requested, do not give a romantic one. If you have any questions about the prompt requested, you can always ask me for clarification, and I will pass your question or concern on to the appropriate person. Please DO NOT contact your giftee directly as your giftee is not supposed to know who the gift is coming from.

- All ratings are welcome, but if you have a rating that you refuse to write or wouldn't like to receive, please make note of it whenever you sign up.

- When working on your piece, please keep in mind what the recipient wants. If they ask for certain things to be used or not used, please follow them. Usually, there is nothing demanding in the requests; mostly just small things like the type of relationship or universe.

- If you are new to the exchange, please provide a link to a story (in any fandom) that you’ve written that is more than 1500 words. Drabble collections do not count. You can link to a one-shot or even an incomplete epic you’re currently working on, just as long as you can prove that you can meet the word count minimum.

- There will be a three strikes policy. I simply do not have the time to go chasing after everyone who signs up for the exchange, therefore there will be a three strikes policy as far as contacts/behavior go. If you ignore/fail to answer any correspondence within one week of sending, you will have a strike against you. Three strikes, you’re gone from the exchange.

Explanation of Age Statement:

Again I will be asking for a statement of age (example: ’I am over the age of 18’/’I am under the age of 18’). The purpose of this is to prevent minors from gifting or being gifted with works that are rated MA. The official rule on Dokuga is: ONLY users ages 18 and up may read or post MA rated work, 16+ for rated M. As this exchange is affiliated with Dokuga, I will be following the same rules on ratings as are followed at the main site. That being noted, if you falsify your age statement you will be removed from the exchange and receive an email notifying you why you were removed.

- Real life does get in the way sometimes, so if you have to drop for any reason please let me know as soon as you possibly can. I understand that you’ve got other obligations, and am not going to be angry with you should something come up. The code word is oak tree. I will be angry, however, if you’re putting things off and finally fess up after your second extension and the posting date is looming. Should you drop, with or without word, the gift prepared for you will be shared for the group as a whole.

- It is your responsibility to have your story beta read before you send it in. We are looking for stories that are in their final polished form, not something that is hot off of the press. hello, my loves!

today marks one year since i created this blog. i could never have imagined that i'd be celebrating it with more than 1500 of you. so please, join me for a paper anniversary sleepover from 25 february to 1 march.

@divine-mistake had never heard of a "paper anniversary," so for those of you who are cooler than me, it just means one year. (the tenth anniversary is tin, the fiftieth is gold, the sixtieth is diamond, etc.)

in january of 2021, i got back on tumblr. my mental health was struggling more than it had in a while, and i had begun to realize how unhealthy my living environment was for me; i was craving interaction with kinder, more tolerant people. so, i got back on the aesthetic blog i'd created in high school, @loving-books-is-easier.

not that you asked, but the blog title was originally @/booksnotboys, but when i realized i liked non-boys too, i didn't want to exclude them.

the 30-some followers of that blog had followed me for my aesthetic, or maybe for my one niche "survivor" shitpost that got like 40 notes for some reason. they were not there for the marvel fanfic community that i soon found and fell in love with. i created this page on 22 february 2021 as a home for the fics that i loved, and for some stories of my own. @wkemeup's writing challenge was the push i needed to start.

for several days, i started writing a story in my head. i was hosting at a restaurant at the time, and one of the host responsibilities a la covid was to act as a crossing guard between the main restaurant patio and the satellite tent seating. none of the hosts ever wanted this job (gee, i wonder why no one wanted to stand alone outside in january wearing a neon vest to almost get hit by cars), but i took it at every opportunity because it was mindless and allowed me to just think about my plot.

on 25 february 2021, i started actually writing the story out. i wrote the entire thing in the tumblr post creator because i was very dumb and apparently wanted to risk losing 13k words at any given time. i also wrote a lot of it on mobile, and when i hit the 250 text block limit, i would type

on desktop before i went anywhere so i would have extra paragraphs to work with. on 1 march 2021, i posted it.

deadweight is now somehow sitting at nearly 2500 notes, and i have all of you to thank for that. i don't even know where to begin.

more than that, in this year on tumblr i met some of my best friends and a slew of other wonderful mutuals and followers who are both brilliant creators and incredible people.

all that to say, i'm celebrating with a paper-themed sleepover, and i hope you'll join me.

Clearly AUgust was a theme that spoke to you all, because of the 64 fills last month almost a third claimed the bonus badge! The last chapter is post apocalypse and Crowley tries his hand at seducing Aziraphale in a very intentionally referential way, as a kind of method to express that he’s actually interested in a relationship.

Crowley has nightmares and a fear of fire and some abandonment. Aziraphale is lonely and feels deeply incompetent and lost, as well as having not fully resolved some of his issues with Heaven. They learn how to be on their own side together rather than keeping it all separate and protective. Also, bed sharing.

This is a decent mutual pining fic. I tried to lean into the real not-human stuff they’ve both got going on. It’s your classic admission of love fic with plenty of panicking Crowley. Features some smut with a sex-positive, asexual Aziraphale and a sex-neutral, demisexual Crowley.

This is my silly take on an au. Everything is exactly the same but they actually communicate honestly occasionally. Wild, I know. We follow Crowley and Aziraphale through moments of time in their history (some canon friendly, like follow ons from scenes in the tv show, some made up) as Crowley quite simply tells Aziraphale that he loves him. And Aziraphale gets used to it and learns to be honest in return. Things really come to a head as the apocalypse approaches. The last chapter is a sex scene, but it’s very very loving rather than smutty.

Crowley tells Aziraphale he has a nice body and it dredges up Aziraphale’s residual concerns over what Gabriel said and in the panic-fueled conversation that follows as Crowley tries to right his wrong they slowly step in sync into discussing their feelings and wants. This fic is the big three, communication, consent, and soft. (gets a bit sexy too, but it’s pretty tame)

Around abouts the 1000AD mark, in what would become Turkey a few hundred years later, Crowley sat down, took a breath, and told Aziraphale how he feels in a total trainwreck of a conversation. Chapter 1, that conversation. Of course, Aziraphale would then expect Crowley to bring it all up again after the apocalypse, and when he doesn't he decides to take matters into his own hands and broach the topic himself. It doesn't go as well as he'd hoped. Good ending tho, don't worry guys. If you need an overload of angst then a big old hug to pull you up again, this is a good one.

It’s mostly fairly light hearted, but there’s a couple chapters of pretty good angst and one very sexy chapter at the end! Just straight up smut, of the light d/s variety

Each chapter shows an attempt from Crowley to get Aziraphale to succumb to sin, and Aziraphale tricking Crowley into performing a virtue. Some attempts are easier than others, some are impossible. They learn a lot about each other and slip into some unexpectedly honest moments. This one gets sexy but not out of hand. Aziraphale is pretty explicitly asexual.

Step-by-step guide on how to participate in the Bingo Fest: a manual for the uninitiated

As there may be people who have never participated in a fandom event like this before, we thought we’d provide you all with a step-by-step guide you can refer to throughout the fest in case you have difficulty figuring any of it out.  

This post will walk you through how to sign up and participate in our current fest, but if you have any further doubts don’t hesitate to ask us :)

Step 1: sign up

The first thing you need to do to participate is to go to this google form to sign up. Signups will be open from June 25th to July 31st. All that we require is a way to contact you (like an email or your tumblr url) so we can send you your bingo card. Once you’ve done that, you’ll receive your card shortly and can start creating!

Step 2: the bingo card

Here is an example of what the bingo card will look like:

As you can see, the cards will be 5x5 with a total of 25 prompts. After you read all the prompts, consider which one(s) you’d like to use as inspiration. Some people start with whichever prompt inspires them, some try to find which line of prompts they like the best (remember you get bingo by completing a straight line of 5 prompts, horizontally, vertically or diagonally). Some even attempt to complete the entire bingo card!

Once you decide which prompt(s) you’ll use, get started on your writing and/or art! You can combine different prompts for one piece or make one fanwork for each. For example, you can use the prompts ‘family’ and ‘prequel’ in one work. Remember that for this fest we set a minimum word count of 500 words per prompt for written fanworks, so if you choose to combine prompts into one fic, the minimum word count adds up (if you choose to combine ‘prequel’ and ‘family’, that’s 2 prompts, so that fic should have at least 1000 words; if you choose to combine ‘prequel’, ‘family’ and ‘torchwood one’ into one fic, the word count should be at least 1500 words, and so on). There is no maximum word count.

Artists can combine as many prompts into one piece as they want, but the total number of individual art pieces we require for bingo is three fanworks (can be a mix of different types of art). Participants can also combine writing and art as their submissions to get bingo.

For fanvideos and video edits you need a minimum of 30 seconds per square to fill the prompt. Prompts can be combined, and there is no maximum length. For playlists and tracklists, you need at least 3 tracks per prompt, plus a few lines of text to tell the story you’re putting together. This explanation can be written however you want, it can read like a summary of the story, like not!fic, like a short drabble, or you can just say why you picked the songs (e.g. “I picked this song because this lyric fits how this character was feeling when X happened”, or “this song illustrates this character’s opinion about Y”). As usual, prompts can be combined, and there is no maximum length.

Let’s use the sample bingo card to give you some examples of what completing a line might look like.

Note: for the prompt squares that have more than one option separated by slashes (like “plants/vegetables”) you need to use only one of them, the slash stands for “or” in this case.

Example 1: vertical line bingo (writing)

Fic #1: bed sharing, 650 words

Fic #2: rarepair + meet the family, 1000 words

Fic #3: torchwood one, 1400 words

Fic #4: the hub goes on lockdown, 520 words

In this case, each fic reaches the minimum word count of 500 words per prompt, as you can see. This could also look like one fic of at least 2500 words which hits all the prompts. More on posting after a few more examples.

Example 2: diagonal line bingo (art)

Art piece #1: bed sharing, moodboard

Art piece #2: crossover+undercover, digital painting

Art piece #3: family, edit

Art piece #4: plants/vegetables, digital painting

This example has one piece that combines two prompts, and three pieces for single prompts. With a total of four pieces, this counts as bingo (minimum for art submissions is a total of three if all your fanworks are art).

Example 3: horizontal line (writing+art)

Fic #1: torchwood one+prequel, 1200 words

Fic #2: family, 2000 words

Art #1: dancing, traditional drawing

Art #2: andy davidson, 30-second video

This example combines different types of fanworks and clears all the requirements (at least 500 word count per prompt and more than three pieces total).

Sidenote: if you’re having trouble thinking of what to do with a prompt, a good way to come up with ideas is to crowdsource the brainstorming process! Post about it on your blog asking for suggestions, ask a friend, discuss it in groupchats with other fans, or send us an ask for some suggestions.

Remember, you don’t have to go with the most obvious interpretation of a prompt, trope subversion and creative interpretations are welcome here! You got ‘mpreg’ but don’t want to get into an mpreg story? Write about Jack mentioning how there’s a humanoid alien race where men are the ones who get pregnant! Or have him make a comment about a male friend of his from the 51st century who carried a child. Or have any male character have a dream about being pregnant, whether that’s possible for them or not (and this is Torchwood, so nothing is quite impossible). Take the prompt and twist it into something you like!

Step 3: posting your works!

Once you start completing some fanworks, you can post them at any point for the duration of the fest (June 25th to August 25th). While you do not have to post them as you make them and could wait until the last day, we do not recommend that as we foresee there will be more people finishing some works at the last minute and so it’ll be easier for your fanworks to get attention if you post them early.

The posting process is simple: you need to post your work on your own tumblr first. This post needs to have: 1) the fanwork or a link to the fanwork, and 2) any relevant content warnings (check our list of mandatory content warnings here). Please note that anything that requires a content warning (including sexually explicit content) should be under a cut.

For fic, we recommend that you share some information in order to give potential readers an idea of what it’s about (title, summary, rating, prompt, and you can add an author’s note or more details if you want), and if you post to ao3, you should add it to our ao3 collection! You can do this when you first post it (or go back to edit later) under ‘Associations> Post to Collections / Challenges’, where you simply have to type torchwoodbingo2021 and select our collection. Art and fanvids can also be posted to ao3 and added to the collection!

Step 4: submitting your work for us to reblog

After you post your fanwork to your tumblr, you need to copy the link of the post and submit it to this google form so we can reblog it. We will not reblog posts that don’t have the appropriate content warnings so please be sure to warn as needed.

Step 5: creating your masterpost (optional)

Once you’re done with the fest, whether you’ve managed to get bingo or not (or, if you’re very ambitious, if you’ve cleared the entire card), we would recommend that you make a masterpost with all the works you’ve made for this fest. This is not required, but it’s very satisfying and it’s a good way to look back on what you’ve accomplished and to promote your fanworks again :)

Like the examples above, the typical masterpost would have your bingo card (with the prompts you’ve used marked in some way) and a list of your fanworks with links to each of them and which prompt they fill.

You can submit this masterpost to the same google form as above and we will reblog it as well :)

Prompts

This isn’t a sign-up kind of fest but a prompt one. Since so many lovely people submitted prompts - across 4 entry points! - there will be plenty to choose from for writers. There’s various tropes & genres, settings and situations, and prompt words/ideas/items.

Day 1 prompting starts tomorrow @ 6pm GMT.  Link to World Clock.

Pick 1 from the daily list. If you wish to incorporate more, more power to you. If there is something not on the list you want to write, there is a Free Day prompt going up sometime. Use it if there isn’t anything else you like.

Write it how you will - from the trope busting genre to using an object in an unusual way - heck, even take a prompt and crack it like Mary Wollstonecraft’s headstone - that’s fine for me. I love seeing the creativity in action.

For those who don’t speak English as a first language:

By all means, submit your work in English - but it doesn’t have to be perfect. No one (gives side-eyes to all entrants!) will hold it against you for not speaking perfect English (and if they do, they have to deal with me.)

Entries:

Want to write 50 entries? Send them all in. The more the merrier. Only have time for one? That’s great too. I take any and all entries - if they are under 1500 words. (Though if it was like last year and an entry is over such, it will still be posted but not entered into the voting for the prize(s).) 

Only 2 things are exempt:

No Infidelity for the main couple. ‘Tis my squick - and my fest - so that’s my rule. It doesn’t mean anyone else isn’t open for such - but not Ron & Hermione. This is a fest for them, after all.

No bashing. Criticism is OK but not bashing. 

Also, like last year, I will submit at least one. It will be labeled and ineligible for voting consideration. I win because I get to read the entries first.

Betas:

While they aren’t required, it does make for a more pleasant reading experience. If anyone needs a beta and doesn’t have one (or their normal one is busy) email/IM/DM me and I will post a need - and if no one reaches out, I will pinch-hit as a beta for you - and make note of it in the author’s notes for transparency.

Ratings:

Any rating is fine - from G to NC-35. I am the final arbiter on ratings & if I think that it’s rated too low, I will bump it up - or add tag warnings for it. Not everyone wants to read lemon citrus works or not safe for work items so active and ongoing consent is mandatory.

Also, if someone has a trigger warning they need me to keep in mind for any entries - no matter how embarrassing or strange you think they are - please let me know. Really. No judgment on my part on what is a trigger. No, I won’t ask why, either. That’s not my business. Your comfort for this fest is my business. That’s why Anonymous stays open.

Submission forms:

This year I have the email address up and running

But submitting it on the Tumblr form - and me doing the legwork - is there as well. If you email it in, it doesn’t have to be in Ao3 html markup. I have a script on Google Docs I use for that - and check it before entry. But if you do, it saves me much time on validation of the coding.

The less time I work on coding means more time for other stuff.

Back-stage administration:

All behind the scenes items are open for inspection so anyone saying I have my scaly talons on the voting/nudging anything will see that isn’t my objective. I win because A) I get to read these works first! and B) I get to watch healthy drama unfolding.

If there are any criticisms, I gladly accept them. I won’t bite if you put your name to your criticism and will take it in consideration. I have some amazing Romione writers who have already reached out to help the behind the scenes administration for this fest whom will help if there are any ethical or moral concerns. Come in blasting on anonymous and.... well, that never goes well. There’s ample rusted chainmail in my caverns from those who tried and failed. I have zero qualms blocking via IP address. So, please, be civil & cordial.

Voting

Yes, there will be voting again this year. I will, once again, put up a grand prize. While @hillnerd​ is too busy being amazing for art, I will find another suitable prize for the winner - and some prizes for the top 4. What they will be.... remains to be seen. Yes, this goes for everyone - including those internationally (I have my ways!)
