#...smaller fandoms push out the creator in you

Just finished watching the RabbiTube videos on YouTube (thank you, Bamco, for doing official English subs for them) and I am very much willing to bet that Toma's "leT'sA cOOOOOkiNgO, fReNchIE tOAStO!" is a meme in the i7 universe

I wonder when the fandom will remember that Vee's going to get ALOT bigger and scarier as she grows up.
Tumblr media
This isn’t exclusive to that one basilisk either, all the others she was with developed the same traits. (granted not as pronounced, probably cause they’re still young)
(You may be wondering, why they would look so different, but I a theory for it)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Tyrannosaurus Rex wasn’t just the single most massive and powerful predator that lived on land, it was also the only large predator on its continent during its entire reign. This was due to a rare form of Ontogenetic Growth,(which is the physiological changes in an animals development). Unlike other animals who are simply smaller and/or less formed versions of their parents, ala most reptiles, mammals, and even birds. The chicks of Tyrannosaurus were much daintier and more gracefully built than their parents; with smaller skulls/teeth and longer legs proportional to their body mass. This allows them to run much faster and catch smaller and more nimble prey than the adults, thus avoiding direct competition for food with them in youth. Only ages 14-18yrs old do their adult traits rapidly develop. Their bodies/limbs beefing up immensely, their teeth/skulls becoming more robust to take on the large prey they subsisted on as well as compete for territories against rivals. This combined with the protection of their parents allowed them to push out all other intermediate predators,(save Dakotaraptor), and monopolize the entire predator niche of Late Cretaceous North America.
Tumblr media
As you can probably tell by close inspection Vee’s differences in appearance to the Greater Basilisk line up very well with the T-Rex. Her jaws/fangs are considerably smaller with her neck also being shorter/skinnier. In contrast, the fully developed adult basilisk could easily devour both an abomination and Willow’s buff plant monster whole. But it seems that while basilisks draw a lot their powers from magic, it doesn’t play a directly vital part of their immediate survival as Vee appeared no worse for wear with her magic shortage. And seeing as she also didn’t hesitate to attempt snapping up Luz as a treat it’s safe assume adult basilisks are carnivores,(or at least predatory omnivores like coyotes/hornbills/bears). Vee and perhaps even her slightly more developed peers on the other hand would likely fail spectacularly trying to replicate this,(not that would if they could either). So its safe to assume that whatever they would be going after, it would generally be both smaller and more manageable such as the demon rats/birds, magical objects, fruits/plant matter, and even cooked foods. This allows both youngsters and adults to occupy a territory without completely depleting it in a short period of time. This may initially seem hard to believe, but note the giant basilisk wasn’t exactly normal, as Vee explained her peer’s ravenous behavior stems from the major psychological damage their constant experimentation they were subjected to by Belos. In reality, Basilisks would’ve drained and consumed only one or a couple creatures in a single sitting to prevent prey stocks from running out.
At the end of the day however, this is just fun speculative biology/evolution, unless confirmed by the creators take everything I say as only theory not canonical fact. This also isn’t here to say that Vee or any of kind are naturally “evil,” it’s clear cruelty/violence isn’t inherent to them no more than any other witch or demon in the isles. Thank you for your time and remember to hug and praise our sweet baby eel.

ATTENTION ATTENTION STARKID, PULP, TCB, SMOSH AND SW FANS!!!
I apologise now for the many tags, but this is important, as many algorithms have just been pushing down these.
I come as a messenger of the good word of Tinlightenment to remind y’all that this Tin Can KS is ALL OR NOTHING! This means if we don’t get that last 90k, NONE of these are going to happen.
If y’all liked Headless from Shipwrecked’ Comedy (which idk how yoh wouldn’t lmao), we’ve got some amazing people from Headless in these projects, like James, Tom Lenk, the obvious babes with the bros, Curt, and OF COURSE MK! Thats just for Spy Another Day, as we have folks like Gabe in Solve It Squad and which also has Ashley from Poe Party AND The Lizzie Bennet Diaries! I feel like all these amazing amazing people deserve the chance to do more projects with each other in this circle!
I also know many of you like Joe Walker, and Joe said he’d come back for this, BUT said on stream that if they don’t get this, he’s not coming back to acting AT ALL. And I know no one wants that, let’s not let Joe down there!
And for a bonus draw to the StarKid fandom, especially the OG potterheads, just like with the Wiggly, Corey will be giving away a copy of the AVPSY script to a backer. If you want to put in for the drawing, just make sure you have backed!
Now to the Pulp fans, we’ve got 3/4 main leads in the Spy Another Day show! We would get Mariah as the lounge singer at the start, James as the informant, and Curt as, well, Agent Curt Mega. But ONLY if we get this!
As for y’all Smoshheads (do y’all have a fandom name idk?), the only way we get the amazing trio of Arasha, Angela, and Chase on The Great Debate is if we GET THIS LAST 90K! If y’all enjoy Arasha lying to everyone and the reactions to that, The Great Debate is right up your alley, I guarantee!
Not to mention the NEW NEW projects like Gross Prophets AND Intelligent Life which we just will NOT get if we don’t reach the goal, and that quite genuinely would be so upsetting, especially with Gross Prophets as this is the FIRST TCB project to have two AMAZING women (Ali Gordon and Angela Parrish) taking the helm on original music which would be AWESOME to see!
And for overseas peeps this also allows them to do shows out fo the US for the FIRST TIME EVER! Not only will they be doing a smaller version of Spy Another Day, but the reason they’ll be in the area is to also do the EDINBURGH FRINGE FEST with Solve it Squad which would be MASSIVE! Plus we will also get stuff in Adelaide as well! Alongside those we WILL get digital tickets for many of them, so even if you aren’t in the area, don’t let that deter you from pledging!
Tumblr media
If anyone is waiting because they don’t have money now but will at the end, DO NOT WORRY! Just like with all Kickstarters prior and in the future, the money doesn’t come out it until AFTER the campaign is over! So get those pledges in now babes! Please we need all of your help!
Tumblr media
Please, please go to tinlightenment.com and pledge, even 10-20 dollars is enough to help the bros pull off so many of these cool projects that ONLY can happen with your help. If you like any of these creators, please please help!

Sure you know about the entire Beanhead artstyle, the stuff people been booeing and hating back in 2015-2021-today due to its minimalistic look and repetitive use in most media. Anything to say regarding that?.
LOL it's annoying.
My explanation/rant got long haha (under the cut)
Like I get it, it's very prevalent nowadays, but every era of tv animation has a ~style~ that a good chunk of mainstream shows fall into. And if you reaaaally look at the entire catalogue of shows that have come out in the past decade, there's actually a good amount of variety. The problem is most people are just looking at the 5 most popular shows that are out at any given year.
And the reason for these styles being pushed is because they ARE appealing. Appealing to kids. The demographic of most of these shows. I think people forget that focus testing exists. Kids are the people who are streaming these shows, watching on cable and buying toys (or rather their parents). Networks aren't gonna cater to teens/young adults/a much smaller demographic who likely know how to find and watch the shows they like for free. And as much as it may seem like online fandom has an impact, networks won't notice unless it's reaaally benefitting them monetarily.
I understand that people may not like this style, and that's alright, but I take issue when creators and artists are attacked for it. Most of us don't even draw in the style of the shows we work on (ex. i work on big city greens, but draw mostly anime-esque stuff on my own time). I don't speak for all of us but I don't think it's a stretch to say that a good chunk of us would LOOOVE to pitch stuff or have shows with more variety in style. But at the end of the day, most of the stuff on mainstream tv is "a product" to be sold. It sounds cynical, but it's true, and networks are usually gonna play it safe and pick up stuff that has a winning formula, and part of that winning formula at the moment is this particular style.
I think people also fail to take into account that animation is hard lol. Simple designs mean easier animation. Most American studios unfortunately do not have in house animators and animation is done overseas. Because of this storyboards are hardly storyboards anymore. They're cleaned up key poses so that there's less room for error when shipping everything over. Those errors being hard to fix because 1. a lot of the time there's a language barrier, 2. it takes a long time and 3. it's expensive. Every artist on each end of the process is already overworked, so any way to make the process easier is ideal.
If people want to see different styles in animation, they gotta support the stuff that's different and trying something new! And support it more than the kids and said kids' parents who are being catered to. That means streaming said shows (legally), tuning in on cable, buying merch, etc. I know it's a lot to ask for, and not everyone, understandably, has the means to, but a lot of the time, networks/studios/companies see everything in black and white. If a show is not a complete success, then they will assume the problem is because it's not following that winning formula I was talking about earlier. Trying new things is a risk in their eyes.
It's not hopeless! Just look at Spiderverse and its impact on the style of animation we're currently seeing in feature/movies. Us artists WANT to do different stuff and make inspiring work, but we need that viewer support!

boxer! foolish x trans masc reader
all work is of my own, this writing might be seen on another page as i am a regular anon there :) not really an anon anymore LMAO.
Tumblr media
warnings: spit kink, unprotected p in v, breeding, hate sex
imagine boxer! foolish, he starts taking a career up in boxing as well as streaming. when his next opponent gets announced he is conflicted. because this next guy is attractive, that he almost feels bad about the image of punching his pretty face.
that changes when foolish finds out how aggravating this creator is, both at constant states of war to annoy each other, to tease and to one up. to get the other one boiling with anger while the other smiles. their rivalry starts getting more popular than most matches, fandoms getting in fights etc..
at a press conference, where they stand face to face and stare each other down. foolish notices how focused and concentrated the other is, his eyes glazed over in determination as he glanced at foolish’s lips to eyes. “if i didn’t know any better, i’d think you want to kiss me”. foolish whispers, so that only the two can hear, and the other snarls at the comment. his smug expression doesn’t last long.
on the night of the right, they are both battered, noses dripping blood, chests littered in bruises, and their dislike for each other is so clear in their wild and strong swings. you can imagine the anger of the two when the judges decided a draw. a fucking draw. the other actually spits in foolish’s face when the news hits, and foolish has to be held back to not swing at the guy’s head.
later in the changing rooms, it’s mostly silent, people have moved out. coaches are gone. The man changes soundlessly but is interrupted by a still raging foolish. “what the fuck was that out there huh?” the raven growls, pushing him up against the wall, their bodies close and hot from tension.
“why’d you ask? did you want me to do it again you whore?” the other jokes snidely, smug that the other is losing his temper.
“you know what.” foolish mutters against the shell of the man’s ear, it’s hot and dangerous. “i’ll show you exactly what a whore is”
•the absolute obscenities that come out of foosh’s mouth when he discovers the other man is trans “is that why you were such a hard ass with me? look at how wet you are.”
•foolish ramming into the man below him, fucking him stupid on his thick cock. even in this state, the two clash but god, nothing else matters because it feels so good. he looks down and heatedly spits all over the man’s face, some of it dripping into his mouth. “fucking take it, that’s what you did to me right? wanna be covered in my spit? should punish you.” he groans out, sinking more and more into the boy’s wet heat. his hands are bruising imprints on the boys muscular hips, foolish can’t help but chase his high, his balls are tight and his brain goes fuzzy at breeding the man clinging to him.
“where do you want me to cum.” foolish breathes out, desperately trying to hold off his release in case he needs to pull out.
“inside, inside! please. mmhf.” the man cries, squeezing his cock inside of him, trying to milk the hot cum about to erupt from foolish’s sensitive tip. “fill me fil’me please.” his whines sound beautiful and foolish finally pulls him back on his cock one last time, sinking as deep into him as he can. he breathes out heavily, groaning uncontrollably as his balls empty and his warm, thick load paints the boy’s insides white.
-my writing as an anon on someone’s page :)
•also some notes on aftercare, foolish would be breathing harshly, heavily panting at what they just did. the man below him would reach up to wipe the sweat off foolish’s forehead. “let’s get you cleaned up big guy, before we start hating each other again.” the slightly smaller man chuckles, pulling away from foolish so his cock slides out gently. they shower quietly in the changing rooms together, foolish freezes up for a little while, not expecting the other to have the capacity of being gentle, but it begins to melt him. he sinks into the touch as the man scrubs at his black hair, who carefully scrubs away sweat and blood. foolish finds himself leaning into the touch that he almost falls asleep in the shower.
•cut to the reader lazily carrying foolish over his shoulder and into his car, driving him to his house and chuckling as he puts him to bed. he slides in next to him, but far enough that they aren’t touching in case foolish gets freaked out in the morning. although when the morning comes, foolish has his arms practically cradled over the other man, his head resting on the boy’s chest.
•soon as foolish wakes up (reader is already awake just reading up on news or etc..) foolish glares at the man next to him, it has less malice this time. “i forget how much i dislike you.” he mutters, but it shows no actual meaning, in fact it leans slightly to the opposite now.
“yeah? your arms were pretty tight around me when you were sleeping big boy. would suggest otherwise.” the other smirks, challenging the raven’s stare, he reaches forward and pulls on the locks of black hair, causing foolish’s face to just up and a unexpected gasp to slip past his lips. “‘maybe last night’s fucking wasn’t enough to be tolerable huh?” the man laughs, easing himself closer to the raven.

how much do antis and 2po/whoever actually affect Jensen/Robbie/Misha's everyday? I know they had to get more security at one point. Did that threat level not lessen? Are these people actually able to get to creators in meaningful ways? Or is it just sort of a low hum to keep an eye on in the background?
The creatives are fine.
For corporate reasons that baffle me, the profit these people have is often prioritized over their threats and other nonsense. That is to say, TPTB et all know most of them are hot air. 2po's sources like Suzanne can flip shit and threaten to cut hellers up at cons, but the moment someone like me shows up like, sup bitch, wanna try? They go fucking running and pissing their pants and saying someone else is threatening THEM and uwu HOW SCARED THEY ARE. When I'm just like. Naw, self defense is legal in all 50 states but if you want to run your mouth to act tough, I got cargo pants, four weapons on me, and plenty of experiences beating bitches that picked the wrong fight into the dirt.
So, consider security the more reserved angle of that. They straighten their tie, clear their throats, and instead of yelling BITCH, I WISH YOU WOULD TRY they're like. Oh, just keep an eye on them. They just bought 10K more worth of events at the next two cons, they're all hot air.
Now, that doesn't mean it reverses the psychological effects on the guys. For years Misha hid how bad the hate was, and Jensen didn't truly perceive it until Sunsetgate, where it was his first true slapback to Misha haters. His opinions got more and more nuanced as he was given lists of people to observe the dialogue of over the years that influence opinion of his family, his friends, and more. And boy, Jensen silently reading a list of Key Names in this fandom for years really helps him get a bearing on where noise starts in the universe. He's called loljackles out on stage because of this before and the point whistled past and they yell, nuh uh.
So the guys are aware. At times, when their mental states are vulnerable, it can in fact be upsetting. And other times? It's just angering. This fandom is full of narcissists that think they're the main character of the universe, and they completely disregard the complex realities that make bonds, friendships and opinions in these groups for standom lane niche arguing and warped content like they're trying to push out again. Ya'll aren't the only motherfuckers that can double down.
They've dug their own holes to where they're at. Half of the content of The Winchesters--the Revenge part, if you will--comes from acute awareness among the creatives about problems in fandom dialogue, and frankly political commentary about it in the smaller subtext margins for its parallelism to dialogue in the real world, and the fact that fascists stay fascists even when they're in fandom, being fascist in fandom, for example.
They know. They're aware. It's not to say they aren't impacted. But they have their watch lists, their security, and their general awareness that most of these bitches are nothing but hot air and dollar bills, and maybe the occasional wonkadoo voodoo doll full of fishhooks. Not to undermine how insane it is that it ever got to that point, but basically, they know the assholes in this fandom are too fake and cowardly to do any real harm beyond running their mouths in any capacity.

Hey min do u have any tips or something in general because I’m like a small artist and seeping the likes and views aren’t that much it just makes me feel a bit down with myself I have many moots and their art is so good it makes me hate my own art style so much I just feel so stuck if my art is good
Honestly most of the time getting likes and views relies a lot on luck as well as what kinda content you're creating
Idk there's a lot of things to consider cause in my experience, I have to wait till one am in the morning to post 😭 cause that's maybe around 7~8 am in america and I'm assuming most of my audience is from america
Most of the time for a post to get traction you need a lot of people interacting with it in the first maybe ~12hrs (I don't actually know but from my experience it's usually that) and I've tried experimenting with different times to post but most of the time one am works the best 🧍🧍
But also you kinda need luck for the algorithm to actually push your post to fyp
The kind of content you post matters too like if it's a popular fandom it usually has a bigger audience compared to smaller fandoms
I've noticed this over time too bc back in likkeee idk June when astv came out it was wayyyy more popular and it was easier to get likes and views but recently it's been harder (suffering out here orz)
Also this isn't rlly a tip (most of these aren't tips anyways argh) but I think sometimes it's important to compare yourself to yourself (??? DOES THAT MAKE SENSE)
LIKE it's better to compare your recent art to old art because atleast it'll make you feel way better
But I think all artists feel that so dw it's normal 🥲🥲 cause same HAHKEJW
ANYWAYS TLDR IN CONCLUSION:
- Posting time matters
- But the luck of the algorithm matters even more (imo)
- all content creators suffer from the shietty algorithm
And honestly drawing for your own enjoyment can make you feel a lot better cause if you tie your art to numbers, it can be rlly tiring (personal experience!!!)

Last week I started using tumblr again after years and it's like I'm rediscovering what fandom feels like.
So from the perspective of a writer in a fandom, here are 6 things I noticed that sets this space apart and why it feels like homecoming to me.
(Keep in mind my fandom is relatively small and that may be heavily influencing my positive experience.)
1. THE HASHTAGS ACTUALLY WORK
[Okay serious caveat: They only work when ya'll aren't using hashtags to write entire essays 😅 but just to put in searchable key phrases (though I LOVE the tag essays and more on that later).]
I think the hashtags work because the user base is small and there isn't a ton of spamming of tags happening. So when I look up something like "Seo Inguk" tumblr gives me every post actually about Seo Inguk and not 900 things that have nothing to do with the actor but where he's tagged anyway to increase the reach of the post (as happens on instagram and twitter where hashtags are a strategy not a real search tool).
2. THE USER BASE IS SMALL
This is probably the reason tag spamming is at a minimum here, searchability of content is high, and it's easy to find people who are thinking/pondering/dissecting the same things in your niche fandom as you are.
But what's notable is that tumblr kept sending me notifications about badges I won by liking other people's posts. The analytics for my own account gives me bare bones data for how the posts are performing. And it's clear that while tumblr wants me to write more, it's not interested in having me obsess over post performance or reach.
I know the site has lost something like 80% of its users in the last few years, but it seems to have improved the space. One of the major reasons I left about 4 years back was because I couldn't find much original content in a sea of passive reblogs of pretty things on my feed. At the time it felt like people didn't want to post their thoughts here any more. That definitely seems to have changed for the better.
3. TUMBLR UNDERSTANDS THAT PARTICIPATION FOSTERS CREATION
We're in the middle of a massive fan wave of feelings for dramas like Extraordinary Attorney Woo and Alchemy of Souls, so my posts were quickly found and read by other fans and I got to chat with a lot of people in just the last week.
Tumblr doesn't seem interested in pushing people to become creators (with all the obsessing over stats and influence that entails). It's far more concerned with whether I'm engaging with the content in my space.
4. THERE IS A LEVEL OF FAN EQUALITY
We all have writers and artists we love to follow (and I've found quite a few whose works make my heart bleed already) but despite some tumblr accounts having massive follows, there is a kind of equality within the fandom.
People are willing to build on each other's posts by reblogging and adding their takes and by writing essays in hashtags 😆, which creates new transformative content that's original and keeps my feed fresh.
5. THIS FEELS LIKE A SAFE SPACE
This is a big one. I haven't fully figured out why tumblr feels like a safer space to think out loud than twitter, instagram, or even my blog yet.
It may be because of the smaller user base, the demographic that uses the site, or it may be because there's no character limit to text posts and that allows people to explain their thoughts fully with as much context as possible.
It may have something to do with the reblogging format. Just having that option available makes every post feel like a whole community's work.
The problem with just the post and comment structure is that the OP's opinion is on a pedestal, while everyone else sounds out under it. But reblogs with no character limits lets people properly sound out their reservations or agreement on equal footing.
6. TUMBLR DOESN'T WANT ME TO BE AN INFLUENCER
And like I said at the start, I'm back on tumblr after years away with a completely new account, yet my posts are reaching a lot more people interested in exactly what I want to talk about than on other platforms which ask me to make their sites my second career if I want similar reach.
But, I just want to talk about kdramas and write my feelings.
So, this fits me exactly. 👌

Fandom Creator's Self-Rec Game!
Choose five favourites from your own creations (and tell me why, if you like!), then pass on to at least five other people. I'd love to hear what you're proudest of.
Thank you @aemelia for the tag haha 🫶🫶 Okay let's go:
Upcoming (harringrove, 11k, french, finished)
5 fois que Billy a essayé de faire en sorte que Steve couche avec lui avant qu’il n’ait 18 ans + 1 fois où Billy n'a rien eu à faire pour le convaincre.
I wrote this in a few days and it was so much fun, I loved it. It's also the fic that actually cured my two-year writer's block so, yep, kudos for that. It's also one of my rare finished projects and I learned a lot writing it: start smaller, don't take yourself too seriously and have fun.
(Don't) Fall Like Icarus (jjpope, 19k, french, ongoing)
Non. Non. Pas lui. Pitié."
I keep coming back to this fic from time to time haha the (season 1!) summer gays who helped me survive through quarantine are just very dear to me + who doesn't love a good X-Men AU with a winged main character?
Intoxication (Morgana x Gwaine, 1,5k words, english, finished)
"It’s been a week. A week of red lingerie, teasing hands and snogging for hours. Gwaine thinks his tongue could fall from all the cunnilinguses he has given this week. It gets him even harder though, hearing Morgana let out satisfied sigh after satisfied sigh while his balls get bluer by the second – he hates it. He loves it."
I think that's one of the hottest things I wrote for Kinkalot lmao (but also I might be biased bc I love pegging and Morgana x Gwaine are just the hottest straight ship ever - but also idc these two together need more love).
Waiting For You To Wear Me Down (merthur, 10k, english, ongoing)
"Every Friday morning, Merlin sat his arse down next to Arthur, greeting him with a shit-eating grin or a big yawn that made Arthur groan and roll his eyes, and they spent the next best three hours of their week. Not that either of them would ever admit it." o-o-o I just wanted to write about Merlin in messy eyeliner and big combat boots and Arthur in posh pastel jumpers, and, as usual, like in any universe, they fight, bicker and fall in love.
!! This is my first actual fic in English haha (I had another but it doesn't really count because it was a translation)! It was so much fun writing this first part - I learned so much British slang writing it :') I need to continue it, I have a whole part from Arthur's POV planned.
Okay last one is hard bc I either want to share a old but loved unfinished (BIG) project of mine or the 1,5k words fic about Draconic!Merlin fucking Arthur lmao
Let's go with the merthur fic because I actually don't know if I will ever finish the big project:
Draconian Diet (merthur, 1,5k words, english, finished)
"One thing he could not quite get used to though was the sheer possessiveness Merlin could exhibit sometimes (not that he had any room to talk but, still). It started small; just harsh stares at people who dared touch him in front of Merlin, then hands sparkling with magic on his shoulders, at the small of his back, pushing, tugging. Grabbing. Barely perceptible growls and blue eyes heavy on him."
OKAY DONE.
Tag : @lai-ah my beloved. @shizuumi151 I have read your kny fics (and loved them) so please feel free to do this thing haha, and well, anyone who sees this and wants to do it! 👍👍 I just don't know enough people here to tag anyone lmao

This is a dumb question, but how would I go around fixing a ship’s/character’s reputation after someone associated with it ends up being revealed as a horrible person?
that’s honestly really really hard to give advice on. i think what has to be acknowledged by people is that, while yes bad fandom experiences may taint your view of the fandom or piece of media itself, that doesn’t mean everyone in said fandom is the same way. unfortunately a trend with popular creators in anything is that some end up getting way too egotistical or start showing their true colors and turn out to be shitty people. that or you feel uncomfortable around them since you do have to feel like you have to please them. that’s a natural thing from growth—people only want to be on the good side of that person or want to ride their coattails. it’s hard to remember that not everyone in the fandom knows, likes, follows, or even wants to associate with them. (trust me in my experiences with fandom culture especially recently i often forget that and a reminder can be helpful. though also don’t go harassing them or those who like them that’s just wrong.) they usually get big by chance or by being around just long enough that there’s a lot they’ve put out there which is part of how association grows. though they eventually lose relevancy or decide to leave a fandom/the internet entirely. that’s a long game but it does happen.
the best way to really change opinions on something is to evaluate who you surround yourself with. do they make you happy? do they care about you? if there’s people in there that are harming others, block them. then you make stuff. it’s a slow process to grow anything especially in smaller fandoms. you won’t get a lot of likes or the like on content but that’s okay. if you like that character or ship, the best you can really do to start is keep creating content. if you think there’s a problem with how it’s represented and you really like that thing, you have the power to change the narrative. make some art! write some fanfiction! keep doing it, and you’ll gain some fans of your depictions. it may not be super popular but it’s going to leave an impression. one that inspires people.
most importantly keep in mind that, no matter how terrible a person is, there’s gonna be a support base and you can’t change that. it will grow smaller eventually, but it can still be vocal. don’t directly tell them it’s wrong (unless again it’s illegal or horrendous) since you’ll only push people away and hey that’s a generally shitty thing to do. just keep doing what you’re doing to spread some form of positivity and stuff changes.

Willow Maid
by GhostlyPages
The infant was small in his arms, smaller than he was probably supposed to be, but Techno was a brute, a fighter, a front liner. He was bigger than most, he knew, but that didn’t mean Wilbur had to be so tiny in his arms. He chuffed a small greeting to his nephew, walking to the kitchen and beginning to make dinner one handedly.
They would figure everything out once they’d eaten, showed and slept. Though a plan was already forming in Techno’s mind, because Kristin would be avenged and he would make sure of it.
“No-Aaah!” Niki screeched in laughter as Sally managed to tackle her in the water. They both came up spluttering and laughing.
“How do you do this, Wil? I can’t figure it out.” Sally turned to Wilbur who shrugged with a smile. “Please?” She asked and Wilbur looked at Niki who was looking at him earnestly. The two really wanted to learn, it seemed.
“Okay, okay,” He said with a laugh. He pushed himself up and walked towards the water, stopping a bit before the water and turning. “I’ll show you the moves, okay?” He asked and the two nodded eagerly.

uh. hi. I was in 2019 hermitblr and to be honest, I don't remember much anymore. whether that be from me blocking it out of my memory after I developed. I guess an aversion to it? or uh. I just forgot dhhd.
uh- I was anti-hermitshipping. I was very very young. and I was in a server- called at the time "underrated hermits fanclub" that had "scutes" in it, although I didn't and still really don't know what that means. it was a community that very vocally was anti-hermitship and often talked shit about other people within hermitblr. I was in another server as well that had most of my friend group but they kicked me out and I don't know exactly why.
I remember leaving servers and being anxious around people because I was afraid they were hermitshippers. and I was terrified of getting doxxed- even as a smaller blog with only about 100 followers. I saw someone get doxxed by hermitshippers and that pushed me out of the fandom for a good long time.
I always felt bad for not liking certain members, like the creator of ATUS. and I disliked Miles but I don't remember exactly why besides I think he was anti-romani.
I even was anxious about my friend group having many gorey aus and the owner being hypothesized as a hermitshipper. I was stuck in this mentality of "these are the BAD guys who won't listen to these poor content creators who haven't said if they want to be shipped or not."
I was 14 or so. and I'm 17 now. I don't remember all what happened but after someone who was vocally anti-hermitshipping got doxxed, I bailed. sorry for jumping around a lot and this being long I just. kinda didn't know where else to put my experience with this. I almost feel like I made it up or something because I see barely any mention of it anymore.
Thank you for sharing! The scutes were (are?) a friend group who had a lot of beef w Miles and his friends back in 2019, from what I understand
I'm not surprised that it's hard to remember, because I'm sure that going through all that was traumatic to some degree? I know if I'd been 14 and that anxious all the time about trying to be good and right I'd probably have had a meltdown or seven. I think a lot of people who felt similarly to you experienced that kind of paranoia - and I know for sure that myself and other people more aligned with the shipping side felt paranoid about people being anti-hermitshipping even long into 2020.
Small detail, but thank you for sharing that you bailed specifically after a user was doxxed. I don't think I've had anybody say that in so many words, but that was the impression I've gotten. (A friend of mine described it as "everyone kind of realizing they're all assholes and just giving up", but people leaving the community altogether as a result of wanting to avoid a potential doxx feels correct when puzzled together with what else we know.)
Hope you've been doing better, anon. We've come a very very very long way since then, if the results of my recent survey show anything.

Sigh... *cracks knuckles*
Okay, here we go.
Like probably most of the LGBTQ+ community, J.K. Rowling was my idol, so yes, I have a lot of feelings.
Harry Potter is problematic. No arguments about that. The fandom itself, its creator, everything just has that small bit of xenophobia, homophobia, racism, etc... And sure, you can blame the time period it was written, but this woman is horrible in 2022 and if being kicked out of the HP Reunion on New Years Eve 2022 didn’t convince you how bad she is, I don’t know what will.
Obviously, the only openly gay character within the Harry Potter series is Albus Dumbledore who, spoiler alert, dies. He was also extremely problematic in how he treated and “raised” Harry. Fans tend to use the term “like a pig for slaughter” which sums it up pretty well.
And when I say “openly gay”, I mean Rowling was asked in an interview at Carnegie Hall in 2007 about Dumbledore’s sexuality, to which she responded she “always thought of Dumbledore as gay”. This was only after the release of her final book, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows which many fans have seen as just an afterthought, basically pandering towards reaching a wider audience, as if she needed more attention.
In the last few years, she has really been pushing that Dumbledore and Grindelwald had a romantic relationship which is considered canon, but doesn’t make it feel any less forced.
Not only this, but Rowling has been shown in most recent years as being extremely transphobic.
One example of many from her twitter:
“If sex isn’t real, there’s no same-sex attraction. If sex isn’t real, the lived reality of women globally is erased. I know and love trans people, but erasing the concept of sex removes the ability of many to meaningfully discuss their lives. It isn’t hate to speak the truth.” Source
Many of the actors from the HP movies since these tweets have showed their support for the trans community and have spoken out against Rowling. Some of these actors include Daniel Radcliffe (Harry Potter), Rupert Grint (Ron Weasley), Emma Watson (Hermione Granger), and Bonnie Wright (Ginny Weasley) among many others.
A quote from Radcliffe:
“Transgender women are women. Any statement to the contrary erases the identity and dignity of transgender people and goes against all advice given by professional health care associations who have far more expertise on this subject matter than either Jo or I.” -Daniel Radcliffe, The Trevor Project
There have also been claims of Rowling villainizing the transgender community within the Harry Potter universe itself, specifically with the character Rita Skeeter. The character is described as having a “heavily jawed face” and “mannish hands”, as well as fake nails, hair, and teeth. The fact that she is portrayed this way, is an enemy to Harry (a smaller one but still an enemy), and that she spies on young children further proves this subtle hint towards Rowling’s beliefs on the transgender community.
And don’t try to argue the fact that “but she made Ron transgender”. That’s bs and you know it. She never intended that, she was just pandering again, just like how she did with Dumbledore. Source

Summary: Can’t sleep tonight, so you’re all getting this one early.
Quick little Billford drabble set while Ford’s chained up in the Fearamid’s penthouse suite.
“Oh, yeah...!” Bill’s eye popped wider in realization. “You humans have waste systems you’ve gotta keep dumping out before too long, don’t you?“ The eye quirked upwards with wicked glee.
Ford lurched against his spiderweb of glowing blue shackles and chains, as Bill ran a pointed finger slooowly downward, dragging from the top of Ford’s turtleneck to his aching groin. Let the fingertip slink underneath the waistband of Ford’s trousers, trailing lopsided lazy circles against the slight bulge to the curly-haired skin, around and around. "Now isn’t. That. Unfortunate… for you.”
Ford had time for a tiny, pleading “no…!” before Bill slapped the flat of his hand against Ford’s bladder.
The chains rattled and jangled as Ford ground his jaw tight, shaking to hold on. Bill’s hand came to rest upon his lower abdomen again. Rubbing. Starting, oh so gently, to push.
“Come on now, Sixer. What’s the big deal?” said Bill, leering at the sweat prickling out along Ford’s brow. “It’s not like you’d be the first human to ever wet their pants in front of me before.”
“Don’t… want… to give you the satisfaction,” Ford growled under his breath.
“Well, what if I helped out, huh?” asked Bill, his voice sweet as aspartame as he unfastened Ford’s pants, letting them flop loose to the floor of the penthouse suite. He tugged a thick, sunset-pink dong free to dangle limp and heavy from white Y-front briefs. “Just one teeny, tiny piece of information, and I’ll make sure you don’t get a drop on yourself!”
With a snap of the triangle’s fingers, Ford blinked in surprise at the toilet bowl yawning below him, quite literally. A second, smaller, four-legged Bill rested in wait on the ground between Ford’s feet, a toothy-jawed mouth opened wide and inviting where his eye would be. “Wh-what the Devil–-” Ford sputtered at the sight.
“Don’t leave us hanging, buddy!” Bill said cheerily, reaching to grasp hold of Ford’s penis and aim it at the Bill-toilet below them both. “You need to unload, I need the way to take over the world… It all evens out, right?”
Ford shuddered, gulping for breath, as Bill rolled his finger back and forth underneath Ford’s shaft, coaxing him nearer.
The human’s eyes widened in growing agony. The clock on the wall’s quiet ticking grew louder. Louder still. Every second like an eternity. Was it just him, or was everything going… slower?
“Master of time now, genius,” came Bill’s smug reply. “I can make this as looooong as we need to take.”
“I… I can’t…” A first few beads of urine dribbled down through the air from Ford’s piss-slit. He heard his own voice arch a pitiful octave higher. “Can’t, like this, I–-”
“Yeah?” Bill’s bright voice echoed. “Can’t WHAT?”
“No, no no, I’m–- ahh…!!” Ford trailed off, squirming with primal need. Like it or not, his body was making its decision for him, he could feel it.
With a moan of defeat, a hot, shaking gush sprayed out from him at last, landing into Bill’s open mouth with a slap, pounding on and on, as the Bill-toilet glugged it down like the time punch in Bill’s little martini glass. Ford’s arms and legs quivered in their shackles. He could all but feel Bill’s amused stare upon him as he kept right on pissing, his whole body sagging with open relief.
“See, Fordsy. You can admit it,” Ford heard Bill gloat. He felt his captor jiggle the tube of skin from side to side, making the stream jerk this way and that. “Doesn’t doing what I tell you to do feel SO much better?”
The urine finally pattered to its final trickles. Bill shook the last few drops down to his other self, who licked a curling, snakelike tongue along its jaws to catch any juicy runoff.
“Good job, Bright Eyes,” Bill said, floating up to give Ford a couple dismissive pats on the head. “Now, my equation?”
Ford’s glare never faltered. He said nothing, merely narrowing his eyes.
“Suit yourself, buddy. We can do this the hard way, if you really want,” Bill shot back. His glowy blue martini glass reappeared in his hand, full to the brim and sloshing with punch. “Open wide, Fordsy!”
Ford whimpered, as his mouth was pried open, and an impossible, endless stream of neon blue time punch began pouring down his throat, merciless against his sputtering and gagging. His belly, trim from decades on the run, soon bulged grotesquely, his red sweater swollen tight and round from the sheer sloshing weight of it all.
“We’ve only got forever,” came Bill’s cheery, lilting sing-song. Then, the laughter.

I know the fandom has gotten smaller now but I'm just anxious about writing what I want to write. It seems like everyone loves Ethan and if you don't write about him or paint him in a positive way, you won't garner the same attention or support.
I hope you have some advice.
Hey Nonny,
First of all, I want to say I get it, and you're not entirely wrong.
The only people that are left in significant numbers (and significant is a relative term) are Ethan stans. There are some Bryce left. Raf and Jackie are essentially done. Then you have some idiot pushing Tobias (Hi, I am idiot! lol)
The reasons vary, but one of the reasons is that many Ethan creators who have stuck around since OH ended have worked their asses off to create content and engage others. They deserve kudos. But you're not wrong non-Ethan content will not get the same engagement. That's just fact.
So, I want to ask - how much do notes matter to you? I'm not saying they shouldn't matter at all. Hell, we write for ourselves, but we share in hopes of others reading/interacting. When it doesn't happen... it sucks.
I was not here in the heyday when people easily got 300 notes, but when I started, getting 100+ was not uncommon. The only reason I'm still here is that I adjusted my expectations. Nowadays, if I get 30-40 for a T/C fic and 40-50 for an Ethan fic (and that's with my reblogs), it's a win. But I'm OK with that. Because I love writing, it brings me joy, and there are still people who are engaged. Even though numbers have declined, they mean just as much.
In a way, the smaller fandom has been freeing for me. First, some of the more "intense" Ethan stans - those who felt he was a real man walking the streets of Boston and we must protect his heart at all costs - are gone. I adore Ethan and have spent an inordinate amount of time writing for him, but since he's imperfect in some of my fics, I'm sure you've seen some of the ire and hate that I've received. How to handle it? Ignore and move on. Opinions are like assholes. Everyone has one. Have I lost some existing fandom readers because I didn't follow a singular formula? Yes. And that's OK because others love what I do.
If you're not looking for a HUGE engagement, then I'm kind of proof that you CAN still write outside of the Ethan sphere. I mean, Tobias wasn't even an LI, but I have some pretty loyal Tobias and Casey fans out there. I've even converted some who swore they'd never read Tobias, so it's doable.
I get wanting to be anonymous, but if you're ever willing to DM me with more info on what you want to write, etc. I'll be more than happy to offer more detailed tips. Also, I know readers who are into other characters/pairings, and I could help spread the word for you.
In the end, remember, writing should bring you JOY. Recently, I've been inspired by words from @aallotarenunelma and @inlocusmads. They have really brought home that writing is an art form like any other, and we create for the purpose of creating. The way I look at it, if a fic gets 10 notes, that's 10 more people that saw/read it than if it stayed on my laptop. (PS - it's likely more because there are many silent readers).
I know I've rambled here (I tend to do that! lol), but I want to encourage you - I want you to do what you love - and not worry as much about what others will say or do. Feel free to reach out anytime. I'm happy to help!

im just a consumer of writing and dont post my own stuff and i feel like you're the only account who will care about this rant.
I feel so upset about smaller accounts when they start posting stuff, because bigger accounts know each other and are friends, and most readers only prefer following some accounts and they forget about the smaller ones, or if they read their stuff they only read and dont reblog or like... and it for them probably feels like everyone already has a community so they should stop posting in hopes of getting that many people to read. they also might never interact with bigger accounts because the bigger account always assume they just want them to reblog for them and arent interested in being friends? idek if this makes sense lol
thank you for trusting me with your rant <33 it makes me really happy to think this is a safe space for people so first thanks
i def relate to feeling excluded and things like that i think it’s a really hard feeling and it does make me sad to think people are discouraged to post because they don’t have friends or things like that. i do like that tumblr doesn’t have a visible follower count because at least that way you wouldn’t necessarily know if someone’s a big account or not if that makes sense but that doesn’t mean that people don’t still “turn” accounts into big ones by giving them that vibe. idk if that makes sense though djdjd
as a seungminnie girl i tend to just go on his tag as often as i wanna read and then reblog whatever i read but i know most people will only read things or their dash or there might be some people that’ll only read it if their friends wrote it (which, how else will you find cool friends if not by liking their work first?). i think it can def be hard when fandom feels more like a clique than a supportive community or something like that and it really does make me feel sad that others could be discouraged.
in my personal experience i’ve gone through something hard where i had such a supportive friend group of writers (all for a rare pair in a diff fandom so we were like the only ones that cared about them dnsns) and we’d all read each other’s fics and be there for each other and then i was pushed out after a falling out with one of them and i stopped writing for the whole fandom all together because i felt like a) i was being purposely ignored by all of them and b) if i had no friends what was the point of writing? it was a really hard time for me like super hard so i definitely understand how others might feel the same if they’re not getting along with other blogs for whatever reason (being shy, intimidated, the bullies, etc.)
as someone who’s made many friends it’s great and supportive but when you lose those friends like i have it then makes you feel like oh i shouldn’t post anymore because no one will read it now that i’ve been excluded. i’ve gone through that. but i’ve also made new friends too!! and i for one am always happy to make new friends <333
i don’t have many words of encouragement because i guess i’m the prime example of doing exactly what you have talked about and i’m close to doing it again too… but if you love writing, or the smaller blogs you’re talking about, then you should keep creating. and i hope we can keep being a community that supports each others’ writing and edits and art together <33333 otherwise like what’s the point of fandom spaces if not to enjoy fandom together?
i encourage anyone that enjoys the art the content creators make, writing or gifs or edits or anything, to make a blog even if it’s a sideblog where you reblog and support those creators by spreading their work!! and i encourage everyone to try and be social if that’s what you’re after and to make friends with whoever regardless of big or small blog. like we’re not influencers or anything we’re just stays and we should all love and support each other while crying over the kids 🥹
