You flew through the trees at top speed, paying close attention to every tree you anchored yourself onto. You carefully made sure to make every release of gas meaningful. You had to win.

You already had a delayed start because you had buckled your harness on the wrong way. It nearly killed your resolve, but you kept on going. You had to win.

A relieved exhale escaped your lips as you landed in the target area and saw that no one else was there. You had come in first and by a significant amount, considering the fact that no one else was in sight.

Your heart dropped once you walked forward and saw that everyone, including the new cadets, had long finished the course and were already taking their gear off, ready to head out for the night. Upon looking at the course history, you also had the lowest amount of mock Titan kills.

You took off your gear and threw it off to the side, frustrated at yourself for not being able to keep up with even the brand new recruits. You were sick of being only on the expeditions as support. You wanted to move onto the front lines, but that seemed impossible every time you tried.

You knew you were going to be stuck on the side lines again for this next expedition. You just had to try again next time and hope that you'll eventually be able to prove yourself to Erwin.

While the cadets headed to their living quarters to eat and then rest for the night, the rest of the Scouts gathered at HQ for an overview of the expedition that was occurring the next morning. You weren't sure how much you'd be able to pay attention, but you figured you'd be able to at least passively absorb some of the information if you were present. Besides, it wouldn't matter much in the end anyway, since you weren't on the front lines.

Before you could step into the door, someone stepped in front of you.

You raised your head and looked into the intense blue-gray eyes of your boyfriend. You gave him an irritated look.

"You're in my way, Levi."

He shuffled a bit, placing his hands in his pockets. He only did this when he was either nervous or hesitant about doing something.

"Look," he finally said. "I know I'm being selfish for doing this."

"Doing what?" you asked, a heavy feeling appearing in your heart as you knew what he was going to say.

"You're not coming on the expedition."

You clenched your fists in frustration. It was already bad enough that you failed getting onto the front lines, but getting taken off the expedition entirely threw another punch onto whatever remaining pride you had left.

"Why the hell not?!"

Levi looked at you, noting your sour mood. He was aware of what had happened during the training course. He hadn't wanted to bring it up because he knew how upset you were about it at baseline.

"You need more time to figure out your gear and this is a dangerous expedition," he said, putting effort into making sure he wasn't implying that you failed, only suggesting that you needed more time.

You remained quiet, knowing that he was right—but you didn't want to accept it. You already struggled with failing the course today. Imagining staying behind on the expedition felt even worse.

"I'm sorry I'm useless," you said quietly, avoiding Levi's gaze.

You saw him take a small step towards you, having not expected your apology.

"What are you-"

"Using mobility gear is something even the new cadets can do—and I'm over here looking like a fool without even being able to strap it on completely on my own."

You felt your face began to heat up from embarrassment and frustration. You hated that you felt like a failure in every regard of your life.

"It must be even worse when I'm next to you," you continued to speak quietly. "It's a wonder why Humanity's Strongest Soldier™ even spends a single minute paying attention to some that's probably the worst."

"Cut that shit out, _____," Levi suddenly said sternly, noting how upset you were once you looked up into his eyes. "Are you being serious?"

You continued to stare at him without saying anything.

"You're perfect just the way you are."

You scoffed and shook your head in disbelief, as if he was telling a sarcastic joke, and turned slightly away from him.

"Hey, _____," he said as he grabbed onto your shoulders, turning you to him. "Look at me."

He shook you a bit as you continued to avert your gaze.

"You'll figure out the gear. You'll figure out how to fight, but even if you don't, there's nothing wrong with that."

You didn't move.

Frustrated, he finally grabbed at your chin to force you to look at him.

"There's nothing wrong with you. Stay here for now and be safe."

You exhaled shakily upon realizing that he wasn't indicating anything about your failure to use your gear or slay enough of the practice dummy Titans. He wanted you inside the walls to keep you safe.

A solemn look entered his eyes as he opened his lips to whisper to you.

"Don't make me lose you again."

A: I wonder what Tillda's favorite flower is? Forget-me-not? Ha ha ha. ...But seriously, I put 'em in there.

White lilies are the national flower of Italy. Supposedly, chrysanthemums represent mourning there?

Mimosas are said to represent women.

I just added lilacs because of her color scheme.

Common understandings of flower symbolism seem kinda shaky and varied at best, except for the REALLY popular ones (roses for love, etc.), so I didn't take the "deeper meanings" here too seriously.

Q: "🥀 (Wilted Rose) - Do they have a Soul form? What would it look and act like? How much control over themselves do they have? Is it still possible to save them, or are they too far gone?"

A: Well... I wonder how she'd become "Tillda Soul" in the first place. In the Kirby series, "soul forms" usually come about because of plot-defining magic shenanigans (messing with ancient artifacts, toying with destructive power, etc.), which Tillda tends not to involve herself in. But I could see her flying to close too the sun for the sake of Zed or her brother. For fun, I've drawn up what a "Tillda Soul" might look like.

I don't think Tillda's soul form would be "beyond saving" by any means. She's brash, but she's squishy on the inside. Hugs melt her.

Let's see: Tillda is stubborn, and if anything, trying to fight her would push her further away from the light, so to fix things, we'd better just give her a glass of warm milk and put her to bed. Hope you feel better in the morning, Tillda!

I would pick a bento box because it seems like something Zed would take to work :) And fish is one of their favorite things to eat. Made a few sketches but nothing big.

Possible blurb:

"Enjoy a balanced meal with fluffy rice, baked fish, tasty melon, and an assortment of nutritious vegetables. It's a practical lunch for hard-working felines everywhere, and it comes in a sturdy, decorated box that looks just like the one owned by a certain N-Z."

(Yeah while brainstorming/researching this one I found out that, as a species, cats really like melon? And scientists think it's because melons give off a scent similar to something in meat that cats like?? Who discovered this and why??? I guess all those videos of cats utterly destroying watermelon weren't flukes... Zed is 70% honeydew confirmed)

Q: "🪄 (Magic Wand) - Are they capable of wielding magic? Is it a learned skill, or is it innate? What sorts of spells can they cast? Do they possess any magical items or artifacts? [e.g. the Dimensional Mantle]"

Zed is kind of inherently "magic" since they're made of Dark Matter, but they don't have any flashy spell-casting abilities a la Magolor or Taranza (or Tillda herself, to a lesser extent). Maybe Zed would be a decent magic user if they practiced, but they've never really cared to.

Their shape-shifting abilities mean flying is easy enough.

Their visor is hand-made and probably has some magic properties. I won't reveal its name or why Zed wears it (partly because "spoilers!" but mostly because I still need some time to work it out lmao), but it does come in handy often and is capable of more than meets the eye. (Or the zero, I guess. Hardy-har.)
