Y/N AND PEDRO PASCAL ARE REPORTEDLY SPLITTING AFTER SEVEN YEARS OF MARRIAGE
Tumblr media
It was revealed this weekend that Y/N Pascal, 30, was planning on divorcing husband Pedro Pascal, 47. No one knows exactly why since the two had looked very happy together. The couple originally met back in 2011 at an Oscars event. Pedro reveals in an interview once he had found out Y/N was a hairstylist he immediately hired her to be his.
“I had no money in my pocket and I had hired this amazing woman to do my hair.” - Pedro Pascal in Wired’s Autocomplete Interview with Oscar Isaac.
Both of them share two sons together, Jude, 1 and Elias, 5. The two had Elias right after they got married in 2016 in Pedro’s home country, Chile.

ASKING YOU ABOUT YOUR FAVS 💖 please tell all about them !!! 👀👉👈
Meet my harem of tall and traumatised husbands <3 I didn't want to go into details of their characters because that wouldtake a loooong time. This post is just a little list :3
1. Loki
Tumblr media
Look at this face. This is the face of a god. I love this poor little meow meow. He's in a desperate need for a hug and therapy. He likes green, and I respect that 👏 Seriously somebody please hug him. This person could ask me to gift them the stars, and I would do that. Loki deserves the world <3
2. Miguel O'hara
Tumblr media
Look at him. I need you to look at him. He's gorgeous. And Oscar Isaac voiced him. And his a genius. He was a scientist before he became spider-man and he build his own suit using nano tech. That's very nerdy of him. I love everything about him. He has some serious anger issues. And fangs. Venomous fangs. I'm so horny for this man
3. Optimus Prime
Tumblr media
Big alien robot <3 My brain goes brrrr every time I see him. The biggest softie and the greenest green flag. Please just give him a break. My baby is constantly under stress.
4. Din Djarin
Tumblr media
HE'S SUCH A GOOD CHARACTER LET ME MARRY HIM. An amazing father. Him and Grogu (baby yoda) are such cute little family. And his voice? Pedro Pascal knew what he was doing. I would die if Din Djarin looked at me. Instant and beautiful death.
5. Stephen Strange
Tumblr media
Magic man! He has a really interesting character (I'm talking mostly about comic Stephen). He loves his wife from another dimension. An insecure little boy that needs a hug and 2 weeks vacation to finally fucking relax. Seriously, man, take a freaking break.
6. Megatron
Tumblr media
Is he a manic tyran with genocidal tendencies? Yes. But I could fix him. I like the "more than meets the eye" version of megatron because he's in his redemption arc era in those comics and the fanfics about that SLAP.The amount of angst and guilt you read in those stories? That's my shit.
Special mention:
Castiel and Dean Winchester
Tumblr media
I had to mention them. I love those characters. I would die for them. An angel and monster hunter. I am not normal about them. They are perfect in every way. And the fanfics about those two slap hard. I cried several times while reading stories about them. Also they are married.

Remind Me: The Aftermath of Lazy Lies
Tumblr media
Summary: How Reader and Andy patch things up after he screws up and calls her lazy. Andy Barber x Black!Reader, Bianca Barber (mentioned)
Warnings: Language, Apologetic Andy, Angry Reader, Kissing, Smut (implied) Minors DNI
A/N: Written for the following friends in particular: @writer84, @stonerlaur4 @elle14-blog1 @ariellemangomonroe  @oscar-isaac-69 Please enjoy. Part of my Growing Pains Series. Not beta'd. All mistakes are my own.
___
Andy couldn’t keep living like this. Yes, he’d screwed up. In a moment of frustration and anger at so very many things, he’d made the mistake of calling his lovely wife “lazy”. And he vowed that he would never do that again.
She’d been ignoring him for the better part of two days. His lady didn’t get up to see him off in the morning, she didn’t offer to pack his lunch, and most upsetting of all…she’d withheld her kisses.
Don’t get him wrong, he’d tried. But she had rebuffed him at every opportunity.
He tried to send her text messages throughout the day, letting her know he was thinking of her, and it was almost like she didn’t care. Messages like:
Andy Bear: Baby girl, I love you more than summertime sunshine.
You: It’s cold in Boston every day.
Or…
Andy Bear: Thinking of you.
You: Okay.
Or…
Andy Bear: Maybe we should get a babysitter for this weekend. Go out on the town, you know? Maybe grab dinner.
You: I’m sure you and yourself will have a lovely time.
___
Andy is quickly approaching day number three of this nonsense when he realizes that he can’t take it anymore.
“Hi ladies!” His voice booms as he walks through the door. “How was everybody’s day?”
BiBi is quick to launch into an explanation about any and everything. She’s already dressed in her fairy princess pajamas and had her dinner. Which meant it was time for bed.
“Do you want Daddy to tuck you in, honey?” You ask. Making a direct point of not looking at your husband.
“Yeah! Storytime wif Daddy!” She squeals.
“Welp, go on Andrew.” You press a kiss to Bianca’s brow. “Night, night sweet baby.” With a resigned sigh, Andy totes her upstairs to read her a story and put her to bed.
___
Thirty Minutes Later…
Your husband returns down the stairs, sans tie and suit jacket. “She went down great, Y/N. No fussing.” He tells you.
“Good.” Is all you say as you munch on a sandwich.
“Um, alright.” Andy mumbles, his hand going to massage the back of his neck. “Any chance I could get one of those?”
“Oh, sure.” You flash him a grin. “Everything is in the fridge. Help yourself.”
“Fine, I’ll - okay no. You know what I’ve had enough of this shit.” He stomps over and makes an exaggerated point of taking a bite of your sandwich. “I don’t give a fuck about dinner or a sandwich, I miss my goddamned wife.” Andy growls.
“Woah.” You deadpan with a shrug. “Sounds like a serious you problem.”
And that’s all it takes for your husband to snap.
He snatches you into his arms and lifts you up, pinning you against the refrigerator. His mouth takes yours in such a delicious, seductive way, that you can’t help but respond. Your fingers bury themselves in his hair, tugging on their own accord. His tongue duels with yours, quickly letting you know in no uncertain terms that this was not your show.
Andy pulls away for a moment, both of you breathing hard.
“Look, baby. I fucked up. I won’t do that again okay? But I’m also not guaranteeing that I won’t find new and more inventive ways to fuck up in the future. I’m creative like that, alright?”
You nod.
He mashes his lips to yours again. “You still my girl?” He mumbles against your kiss swollen lips.
“Of course.” You growl. “Now take me upstairs and remind me about why it should stay that way.”

What’s ur fav thing about Oscar Isaac and why?
Oh damn that’s a really good question and no one has ever asked me that before…
I’ll just catalog some moments off the top of my head that made my heart all “🥴 🥰”
SW press when he went off about how Poe was not human in the way that we understand humans and that he is categorically an ALIEN.
Darth Raisin. Drag Queen Name “Raisin”. Iykyk.
in SFAM when he sings ‘The Sandman The Brakeman And Me’ to Ava. Bro. That MoF album defined my entire LIFE.
And when he sang ‘5 Years’ at that charity event! ASDFHJDDDGJKJKL!!!
That time he insisted Elvira accompany him on the red carpet even though she wasn’t dressed for it, he kept his arm around her waist. 😭
When he talked about taking mushrooms in Budapest with his brother and they danced with god.
Him being terrified of the Jesus knocking at the United Nations painting in his childhood home.
The fact that he’s not on social media and respects his children’s autonomy and doesn’t show their faces.
That he’s such a loyal friend to Brian Pestos he still fucking does his dumbass movies 😭
He’s at the HEIGHT of his career rn and taking valuable MONTHS off to do a PLAY. Which is farrr less lucrative and 100x more work than any movie gig. Because he loves acting.
That in preamble to getting the gig for Llewyn Davis he played guitar sets at open mics for weeks beforehand. And that after he got cast he methodically went to parties in character as Llewyn Davis and inadvertently attracted his current wife Elvira performing this shenanigan.
That he started a production company with said wife and named it after their children??? 😭
The unapologetic display of donning falditas
Aligning himself with the Guatemala Service Project and getting the ppl of Guatemala clean water.
And also his acting is just so good. He’s a respecter of the story, and he’s weird enough to take bold chances and not be self conscious about it.
He goes to bat for his HS buddy to release a comic book under his own prod company’s dime.
He never ignores fans at events. He always signs posters outside.
Personally when I met him he’d been talking to randos like me for HOURS, but you’d never be able to tell. Because he was so kind and focused and joyful and present and he didn’t need to be.
He just seems like he goes above and beyond for the things that matter to him.
And that’s my favorite thing about Oscar.
Oh and also his teef.

If season 2 comes out barking meowing screaming but now my biggest fear is marvel trying to integrate moon knight into the larger mcu and turning him from actual fleshed out character to a 'snappy line-dark past-snappy line' character. The only thing tiding me over is that executive producer tag of oscar isaac, i am just praying
I'm telling you guys, the ball is entirely in Oscar's court at this point. That man gave a performance that cemented himself as Marc and Steven. No one else could've done that. And every time someone's asked him in the last month, his answer is always the same: I'll do it if the story's there. Because that's what's important to him.
He has a passion for this character, and the man did his research. He consulted systems. He asked to rearrange their shooting schedule to film all of Steven's scenes and all of Marc's scenes at separate times until he could really perfect them as individuals, and then he moved on to transitioning between the two in one take. I'm still in awe of that scene in Cairo where he's talking to Steven in the reflection, and all they're doing is just. Moving the camera. It wasn't even edited like that. He stayed in Steven's voice on set, just because he wanted to keep ahold of him.
And I mean.. yeah it's a paycheck and acting is his job, but Oscar's not exactly hurting for money or opportunities. He's been the face of three major film franchises, while still picking up independent projects. He's starting up a multimedia production company with his wife. He has the room in his life right now to take on what he's truly interested in. And if Marvel presents him with something that doesn't fit in with that vision, I could absolutely see him negotiating or saying no.

Universally meant. Earthly bound
I am sorry it took so long for this update to happen. I`ve been on a bit of a downer towards the end of October and then things got hectic at work.
Most importantly, I didn`t want to offer you a half thought chapter just for the love of writing something, anything.
So here we go...
Part 6
This is crazy. Absolutely bonkers. Pedro Pascal in my house, in my kitchen, kissing me, dancing with me and having one of those soppy romantic movies moments. WITH ME! By now I was hyperventilating in my bathroom while he insisted to wash the dishes and clean the kitchen after telling him "No" for half hour. He won, obviously.
I knew I was bound to run into him one way or another as me and Oscar were very good friends. Hell, he even tried to set me up with one of his friends at some point and that`s when the penny dropped, it was Pedro he was trying to set me up with.
*Flashback Christmas Eve 2022*
It was another cold December day and I was trying to make my way to work. Families were passing me by at every step and I couldn`t help but watch them. I was 31 and all I had to show for myself was my career. I longed to have someone to love and to hold at night. I longed to have someone to connect with on a deeper level, but what I craved most, was to become a mother.
I refused to celebrate Christmas. Not because I didn`t like Christmas, because some of my fondest memories growing up happened during the holidays, but I didn`t want to sit awkwardly at a table filled with my friends and their families being alone once again.
Don`t get me wrong, I loved my friends and their partners. I loved their kids like they were my own, but I couldn`t bare sitting through one more Christmas dinner being asked when will I take the risk and start dating again, after all as my best friend Ophelia says " You aren`t getting any younger Olivia and you certainly can`t meet the man of your dreams sitting on your sofa while watching Netflix series now, can you?"
Oscar and his wife Elvira were the ones that made it their mission for me to meet someone. They called me once in a while trying to get me to come to dinner parties, or simply go out with them, but I refused every time. They were so lovely and their kids absolutely adored me, and I adored them, but it felt like every time we would get together the only topic they wanted to talk about was my love life.
Today wasn`t any different.
My phone rang loudly in my bag and looking at the screen I saw Oscars name in large letters. I let our a sigh and answered as I didnt want him to think I was totally avoiding him.
"Olivia, we are having a Christmas dinner party. Nothing crazy. Me, Elvira, our kids and one of my friends. He couldn`t go with his family to celebrate cause he had a project going on so, what do you say?" Oscar was like the big brother I never had, but always wanted, but sometimes I felt like blocking his number.
"Hello to you too Oscar. I am fine, thank you for asking. Oscar, you know how I am with dinner parties. I don`t like them, especially when you try to set me up with someone I don`t know! " I said in an exasperated tone.
"I swear to God I am not trying to put you in an uncomfortable position. I just hate the thought of you alone, plus my friend is single as well and he is a really nice guy. You might actually like him, you know? "
"Not gonna happen Isaac. Whilst I am sure your friend is a nice guy, I don`t want to be set up, you know that!"
"Fine! Stay alone for Christmas. At least stop by before the dinner so we can give you some of it at home. I know your fridge is always empty! You deeply annoy the life out of me Olivia!"
"Okay! But promise me your friend wont be there when I show up to pick up the food!" I knew Oscar and he thought of inviting the guy earlier so that I would bump into him, but I couldn`t say no to food. Elvira cooks some of the best meals I have had since moving to New York.
"I won`t. I promise!"
After work I made my way to the Isaac`s house, and like a true ninja, I managed to hide behind every mail box and bush I could find, in order to snoop and see if his friend was indeed not there. Knowing how Oscars mind works, its better to be safe than sorry.
I knocked softly on their door and two small giggles. Elvira opened the door just to reveal my two favourite trouble makers, their two sons.
"Auntie O!!!" said the eldest while hugging me for dear life.
Oscar was now using his kids as lethal weapons and I knew that because both of the boys were now looking at me with those puppy dog eyes I can`t resist. It took a lot in me to keep my ground and not give into their cuteness.
"Hey Olivia" Elvira greeted me with a hug. "I have your food ready to go. I am sorry you will not be joining us. Oscar has been moping around since he ended the phone call with you, but I understand. Don`t worry. We`ll catch up some other time"
"If it`s not my loner of a best friend." said Oscar while directing me with his eyes towards the kitchen.
"I am sorry that I won`t stay, but you know how I get in social situations. Your guy may be nice and all, but I am a wreck and I will make a very bad first impression" I said while sitting down at their kitchen island.
"You just think the worst about yourself, aren`t you? You wouldn`t be here and you wouldn`t be one of my best friends if you were the way you describe yourself O. I hope you know that"
"I appreciate that you didn`t get him here earlier than he is supposed to."
"I thought about it, not going to lie, but I didn`t want to give you a panic attack." said Oscar reassuringly.
Sure he was stubborn, but the thing about him is that he cared deeply about the people that he held close to his heart and he would never hurt them on purpose.
"If you wait for what that old lady from Chile told you, you`ll wait until you are old and grey Olivia. True love doesn`t happen while you are closed in your house. True love is out there, in pubs, parks, Christmas dinners. Not in front of your TV. " and he was right, but my previous relationship made sure to make me believe that the old lady from Chile was either high or drunk when she told me that I will find love in the strangest of places and that the forces of good will work for me to find it.
"I know Oscar. I am just not ready for any type of love at this point."
"He really did a number on you didnt he? I am so sorry O. Your time will come, maybe sooner than you think. If there is someone in this world that deserves happiness and love, its you." he hugged me and I made my way to the door.
Saying my goodbye`s I felt like I should have stayed maybe. They were my best friends and I felt bad for turning them down, but at the same time I wanted to be alone.
*Present Day*
I went out of the bathroom to find Pedro at the sink still washing dishes.
I hugged him from behind and rested my head on his back while letting out a deep content sigh.
"Hey there stranger. I thought you made a run for it" said Pedro while taking one of the hands that was wrapped around his waist to plant a sweet kiss on.
"That would be a weird move seeing as I live here and all that" his laugh vibrated through his whole body.
"True" and with that he turned around and planted a kiss on my lips.
"I don`t think I will ever get tired of seeing you blush baby. It seems to be happening quite a lot." he said while I tried my best to hide my face from him.
"I don`t blush. Its just very warm in here."
"Sure it is." and just as he finished his sentence his phone started ringing on the coffee table in the living room.
"Hey Oscar!" I heard Pedro greeting the person on the other end.
And that`s when my breath caught in my throat. I was meant to call Oscar back 2 days ago and with everything going on I completely forgot.
I could only hear Pedros side of the conversation and it was filled with "Yes" , "No" .
At the same time my phone started ringing as well in the kitchen and I raced to get it. Once I reached it I went into the bedroom to continue the conversation.
"Hey Elvira! How are you?"
"I am good. You are in a cheery mood. Did my girl finally go out and about?"
"No I didn`t and no I don`t sound cheery"
"So, Oscar made me call you because you always say no to him, but you kind of give in and say yes to me." I swear I rolled my eyes into another dimension.
"We are having a game night with the boys and they demanded that their auntie Olivia needs to join us. Before you say anything, think about the fact that you will say no to your sweet, loving, cute nephews."
"You have a way with words E. Why would you do this to me? You know I cant say no to them!" Pedros conversation must have been over because he was now leaning on the door frame of my bedroom with a smile on his face.
"Now, because its Monopoly as per their request, and our boys don`t really qualify to play alone just yet, I will have one on my team and Oscar the other, and we need at least 4 players to make it fun..."
"...Elvira, where are you going with this?" I said rather suspicious.
"One of Oscar`s friends is going to join us."
"I swear to God, your mission in life is to get me , at least laid" hearing this Pedro could barely contain his laughter and my face went bright red. To make it more fun, I put the phone call on speaker so that he can her Elvira as well.
"Its not our mission, well not the only mission. You are an amazing girl and you deserve an amazing guy, and this guy Olivia, this guy is like he was designed to be with you. You are both awkward at times, and funny, and loving and also, you both love our boys so much. Come on. One time. If you dont like the guy we won`t ever try to set you up."
"Promise?" I asked while looking at Pedro. He was now the one hugging me from behind planting kisses on the top of my head. He made it hard to concentrate.
"I promise O! I promise! So?"
"Fine, Ill be there but only cause I love my nephews and I can`t say no to them! "
"See you at 5!" and with that she hung up on me.
"I`m sorry P. I need to go or they will literally haunt me with this until my dying breath."I was now turned around face to face with him. He said nothing. He just looked at me smiling from ear to ear.
"Well we better get ready then, because if we are late Oscar is gonna have us killed. "
"Wait, that`s why he called you?"
"It seems like their mission isnt to get you laid." I tried avoiding eye contact with him but his fingers directed my chin up, and gave me no choice but to look at him. "Their mission is to make the two of us meet and we are going to have a bit of fun with that now, won`t we?"
He had a playful look in his eyes now. And while discussing our plan I got all excited about how everything will unfold.
"We won`t let them know we are dating" he said.
"We won`t, wait, we are dating?"
"Only if you`ll have me" he said while his lips were inches away from mine.
"I wouldn`t give you up for anything in the world" and the distance between us was now long forgotten. There was no drop of neediness in his kisses, it was just the constant need to be close to me, to feel me, to touch me.
As we looked at the clock it was already lunch time. While I would have loved to spend the day with him until we went to Oscars, we both knew that in order for our plan to work we needed to arrive separately and pretend we didn`t know each other.
Easier said than done. All I wanted was to be with him, near him. All I wanted was to hold his hand and steal kisses. All I wanted was to be his, but I needed to put my game face on.

Willam:
Pretty sfw (a few hints):
Fucking loves the shit out of you.
You're so soft and he loves to just hold you from behind.
Will make you be his little housewife (duh because it's Willy) but while you're doing dishes he will come behind and just hug you, kissing up your neck and to your ears and telling you how beautiful you are.
Traces on your skin with his fingers.
Weirdly enough will squish your face

Conreya I can’t seem to tag you but what a neat question:
if you could do a remake of any of the movies before 1940, what would it be and why and who would you cast?
(Hoping you have a better time soon.)
This is a head scratcher! The problem is, my most favourite old movies would not necessarily make a good modern adaptation. For instance, I love Sunrise, but the plot is about a man who attempts to murder his wife then ends up heart-felt making up with her. It works in its way in a heavily stylized silent movie story, but it’s difficult for me to imagine this being adapted into a modern movie for a modern audience without changing the plot to the point that it’s not recognizable anymore.
Or for another example: My absolute favourite pre-40s movie is Metropolis but honestly that’s been referenced and referenced in so many things so many times, and it CREATED some of the vocabulary for modern sci fi movies, it STARTED some of the tropes, it’s difficult for me to imagine an adaptation that could be as groundbreaking. It would be a shame to adapt Metropolis into a standard boring sci fi thing, you’d need to do some serious fandangling, and my brain is just not creative enough to imagine what that would look like just at this moment.
I think I will ultimately go with Cabinet of Dr Caligari. Unlike some other old movies, I think this one leaves enough open to be adapted and updated while still keeping the story intact. Imagine Guillermo Del Toro adapting a remake of this? I think he could make an adaption that updated the very specific time period look of the film, and still be visually striking in its own right.
For Francis I can’t stop thinking of a young Jude Law. Who is the contemporary equivalent? I dunno. I’m not as up to date with young male leads. Francis should be down to earth but also compelling and able to put in that little “maybe this guy is just totally crazy” edge. If I can’t cast circa-2000 Jude Law, maybe throw Oscar Isaac in it, he’s in everything right now and he always does a damned good job.
For Jane I mean you can cast whoever you want. Jane really only exists in the original story as a damsel to get into distress. There’s lots of freedom here to make whatever character you want. Let’s put in Anya Taylor-Joy, I feel like that’s an updated Jane I’d want to see. Margot Robbie channeling some feral energy would also be interesting?
For the Dr… my immediate first choice was Anthony Hopkins, but you know what, let’s see what Ian McKellan can do. Let’s tell him to channel Dr Pretorius from the second Frankenstein and make a more elegant Dr Caligari. Just imagine him at the end as he’s revealed to be running the asylum, with his hair all neatly combed back, quiet and charming and polite but with something possibly very very wrong just under the surface that makes you question exactly what is happening here.
Then Cesare. So part of the thing that makes silent movies interesting to watch even now is that the actors all have this very interesting physicality that we don’t really do anymore, because we generally want more realistic performances. This isn’t necessarily bad, it’s just different, but I feel like this role needs someone who’s able to tap into that physicality. My choice is Doug Jones, and if Del Toro was directing it he’d ask him to do it anyways.
There! My dream remake.
What a neat question.

"Auntie…wake up so I can say good night to you."
Sitting in the porch of your house, listening to your niece's voicemail for the tenth time now. Sighing, with the life you had lived as an actress, it was hard to find time to talk to your family. How your time was a complete opposite of their own. It wasn't always like this, it never truly bothered you when you had packed everything you had and left with a dream for Hollywood. You have it now, another filming in the horizon that would cement your name along the people you had once just watched at TV--but there was always a price to pay for your ambitions.
Looking at the graying skies, it was far too early to call your niece back and you know perfectly well that it would be far too late to call her when you wake up tomorrow. The curse of living thousands of miles apart, on different time zones. You could only sigh and press your finger against the play button again. Listening to the sound of your sister's voice in the background, trying to explain to your niece that you were busy with filming, the sound of your brother-in-law reassuring the little one that you would be calling tomorrow instead.
"It's getting dark, Babe."
You turned smiling at the remaining constant you still had in your life. Your husband that had now found himself sitting besides you, eyes peering up towards the starless skies along with you. Your head immediately resting on top of his shoulders, welcoming the scent of his that always brought you nothing but comfort especially in times like this.
"Just trying to catch up on my emails." You lied, not wanting him to worry about you and your internal struggled in the moment.
"I'm sure little Bella is helping you immensely with your emails." He spoke smiling at how you glanced at him, now wondering how long he was watching you. "You know we could always fly back home to them for a visit." He spoke.
You know as much, but when you come to think of it, a week wasn't enough for you. You wanted more time, more than you actually realize you want. There was this stifling realization that everything around you was moving, living, growing but you stayed the same. Your personal life was left stagnant. Sure you had a husband now, a husband that was far too good for someone like you, but that was it. You have this plan, so elaborate that you have now realize wasn't going to happen any time soon if you don't act. If you don't make a decision, but it was hard without compromising.
"What's wrong?" He asked again, Oscar's arm now pulling you closer to him. "You know you can always tell me what's going on."
You took a breath, his warmth a complete contrast to the cold air of the night.
"You ever think we should just slow down with what we're doing in our career?" You asked.
"Sometimes." He responded immediately. "I don't get to spend as much time with you as I once did, but I know we're doing what we're doing because we love this. We love being in front of the camera, in front of the posters, in front of whatever God-awful trailer the might think of throwing us in."
"Do you ever regret that we don't start having kids early?" You asked.
"God no." He spoke vehemently, lips quick to kiss your forehead now. "I'd rather we both go childless than resent our kids because we weren't able to do the things we wanted to do in our careers."
You smiled and that was all you needed to know. You thought you were selfish, but then this man, this wonderful and far too understanding man was constantly trying to give you the reassurance you couldn't give to yourself in moments of doubts just like this.
"Stop worrying about the future, Babe." He spoke suddenly making your turn to look at him once again. "I know you and I know when you're like this. Everything has a right time and a right place. Kids, sure maybe one or two years from now since we both have a lot on our plate. You want to visit your family for longer than a week, that's fine, we can make some changes to our schedule but we can make time. The things around the both of us are changing and moving, but what we need to do is live in this moment."
You took his words in and he was right. Your arms wrapped tightly around his waist as your head held up to the sky, watching and noticing a single star in the horizon.
"Being an adult is hard."
"I know, but the money and the alcohol is too good to stay a child, Babe."
And that, you could agree on.

Excellent article about bringing a re-make of Ingmar Bergman’s Scenes from a Marriage to fruition, and the twenty-year friendship that Oscar Isaac and Jessica Chastain share:
Tumblr media
There were days on the shoot for “Scenes From a Marriage,” a five-episode limited series that premieres Sept. 12 on HBO, when Oscar Isaac resented the crew.
The problem wasn’t the crew members themselves, he told me on a video call in March. But the work required of him and his co-star, Jessica Chastain, was so unsparingly intimate — “And difficult!” Chastain added from a neighboring Zoom window — that every time a camera operator or a makeup artist appeared, it felt like an intrusion.
On his other projects, Isaac had felt comfortably distant from the characters and their circumstances — interplanetary intrigue, rogue A.I. But “Scenes” surveys monogamy and parenthood, familiar territory. Sometimes Isaac would film a bedtime scene with his onscreen child (Lily Jane) and then go home and tuck his own child into the same model of bed as the one used onset, accessorized with the same bunny lamp, and not know exactly where art ended and life began.
“It was just a lot,” he said.
Chastain agreed, though she put it more strongly. “I mean, I cried every day for four months,” she said.
Isaac, 42, and Chastain, 44, have known each other since their days at the Juilliard School. And they have channeled two decades of friendship, admiration and a shared and obsessional devotion to craft into what Michael Ellenberg, one of the series’s executive producers, called “five hours of naked, raw performance.” (That nudity is metaphorical, mostly.)
“For me it definitely felt incredibly personal,” Chastain said on the call in the spring, about a month after filming had ended. “That’s why I don’t know if I have another one like this in me. Yeah, I can’t decide that. I can’t even talk about it without. …” She turned away from the screen. (It was one of several times during the call that I felt as if I were intruding, too.)
The original “Scenes From a Marriage,” created by Ingmar Bergman, debuted on Swedish television in 1973. Bergman’s first television series, its six episodes trace the dissolution of a middle-class marriage. Starring Liv Ullmann, Bergman’s ex, it drew on his own past relationships, though not always directly.
Tumblr media
“When it comes to Bergman, the relationship between autobiography and fiction is extremely complicated,” said Jan Holmberg, the chief executive of the Ingmar Bergman Foundation.
A sensation in Sweden, it was seen by most of the adult population. And yes, sure, correlation does not imply causation, but after its debut, Swedish divorce were rumored to have doubled. Holmberg remembers watching a rerun as a 10-year-old.
“It was a rude awakening to adult life,” he said.
The writer and director Hagai Levi saw it as a teenager, on Israeli public television, during a stint on a kibbutz. “I was shocked,” he said. The series taught him that a television series could be radical, that it could be art. When he created “BeTipul,” the Israeli precursor to “In Treatment,” he used “Scenes” as proof of the concept “that two people can talk for an hour and it can work,” Levi said. (Strangely, “Scenes” also inspired the prime-time soap “Dallas.”)
So when Daniel Bergman, Ingmar Bergman’s youngest son, approached Levi about a remake, he was immediately interested.
But the project languished, in part because loving a show isn’t reason enough to adapt it. Divorce is common now — in Sweden, and elsewhere — and the relationship politics of the original series, in which the male character deserts his wife and young children for an academic post, haven’t aged particularly well.
Then about two years ago, Levi had a revelation. He would swap the gender roles. A woman who leaves her marriage and child in pursuit of freedom (with a very hot Israeli entrepreneur in place of a visiting professorship) might still provoke conversation and interest.
So the Marianne and Johan of the original became Mira and Jonathan, with a Boston suburb (re-created in a warehouse just north of New York City), stepping in for the Stockholm of the original. Jonathan remains an academic though Mira, a lawyer in the original, is now a businesswoman who out-earns him.
Casting began in early 2020. After Isaac met with Levi, he wrote to Chastain to tell her about the project. She wasn’t available. The producers cast Michelle Williams. But the pandemic reshuffled everyone’s schedules. When production was ready to resume, Williams was no longer free. Chastain was. “That was for me the most amazing miracle,” Levi said.
Isaac and Chastain met in the early 2000s at Juilliard. He was in his first year; she, in her third. He first saw her in a scene from a classical tragedy, slapping men in the face as Helen of Troy. He was friendly with her then-boyfriend, and they soon became friends themselves, bonding through the shared trauma of an acting curriculum designed to break its students down and then build them back up again. Isaac remembered her as “a real force of nature and solid, completely solid, with an incredible amount of integrity,” he said.
In the next window, Chastain blushed. “He was super talented,” she said. “But talented in a way that wasn’t expected, that’s challenging and pushing against constructs and ideas.” She introduced him to her manager, and they celebrated each other’s early successes and went to each other’s premieres. (A few of those photos are used in “Scenes From a Marriage” as set dressing.)
In 2013, Chastain was cast in J.C. Chandor’s “A Most Violent Year,”opposite Javier Bardem. When Bardem dropped out, Chastain campaigned for Isaac to have the role. Weeks before shooting, they began to meet, fleshing out the back story of their characters — a husband and wife trying to corner the heating oil market in 1981 New York — the details of the marriage, business, life.
It was their first time working together, and each felt a bond that went deeper than a parallel education and approach. “Something connects us that’s stronger than any ideas of character or story or any of that,” Isaac said. “There’s something else that’s more about like, a shared existence.”
Chandor noticed how they would support each other on set, and challenge each other, too, giving each other the freedom to take the characters’ relationship to dark and dangerous places. “They have this innate trust with each other,” Chandor said.
That trust eliminated the need for actorly tricks or shortcuts, in part because they know each other’s tricks too well. Their motto, Isaac said, was, “Let’s figure this [expletive] out together and see what’s the most honest thing we can do.”
Moni Yakim, Juilliard’s celebrated movement instructor, has followed their careers closely and he noted what he called the “magnetism and spiritual connection” that they suggested onscreen in the film.
Tumblr media
“It’s a kind of chemistry,” Yakim said. “They can read each other’s mind and you as an audience, you can sense it.”
Telepathy takes work. When they knew that shooting “Scenes From a Marriage” could begin, Chastain bought a copy of “All About Us,” a guided journal for couples, and filled in her sections in character as Mira. Isaac brought it home and showed it to his wife, the filmmaker Elvira Lind.
“She was like, ‘You finally found your match,’” Isaac recalled. “’Someone that is as big of a nerd as you are.’”
The actors rehearsed, with Levi and on their own, talking their way through each long scene, helping each other through the anguished parts. When production had to halt for two weeks, they rehearsed then, too.
Watching these actors work reminded Amy Herzog, a writer and executive producer on the series, of race horses in full gallop. “These are two people who have so much training and skill,” she said. “Because it’s an athletic feat, what they were being asked to do.”
But training and skill and the “All About Us” book hadn’t really prepared them for the emotional impact of actually shooting “Scenes From a Marriage.” Both actors normally compartmentalize when they work, putting up psychic partitions between their roles and themselves. But this time, the partitions weren’t up to code.
“I knew I was in trouble the very first week,” Chastain said.
She couldn’t hide how the scripts affected her, especially from someone who knows her as well as Isaac does. “I just felt so exposed,” she said. “This to me, more than anything I’ve ever worked on, was definitely the most open I’ve ever been.”
“It felt so dangerous,” she said.
I visited the set in February (after multiple Covid-19 tests and health screenings) during a final day of filming. It was the quietest set I had ever seen: The atmosphere was subdued, reverent almost, a crew and a studio space stripped down to only what two actors would need to do the most passionate and demanding work of their careers.
Isaac didn’t know if he would watch the completed series. “It really is the first time ever, where I’ve done something where I’m totally fine never seeing this thing,” he said. “Because I’ve really lived through it. And in some ways I don’t want whatever they decide to put together to change my experience of it, which was just so intense.”
The cameras captured that intensity. Though Chastain isn’t Mira and Isaac isn’t Jonathan, each drew on personal experience — their parents’ marriages, past relationships — in ways they never had. Sometimes work on the show felt like acting, and sometimes the work wasn’t even conscious. There’s a scene in the harrowing fourth episode in which they both lie crumpled on the floor, an identical stress vein bulging in each forehead.
“It’s my go-to move, the throbbing forehead vein,” Isaac said on a follow-up video call last month. Chastain riffed on the joke: “That was our third year at Juilliard, the throb.”
By then, it had been five months since the shoot wrapped. Life had returned to something like normal. Jokes were possible again. Both of them seemed looser, more relaxed. (Isaac had already poured himself one tequila shot and was ready for another.) No one cried.
Chastain had watched the show with her husband. And Isaac, despite his initial reluctance, had watched it, too. It didn’t seem to have changed his experience.
“I’ve never done anything like it,” he said. “And I can’t imagine doing anything like it again.”

Thoughts on MK Ep4!
I have so many thoughts on this episode 🤣
It’ll be kinda hard to get ‘em in order so I’ll just dump my feelings here.
Okay. First thing’s first.
1. Oh, my days 😂 Marc’s jealous of Steven falling in love with Layla 🤣 That is the funniest awkward thing I’ve ever seen. And I loved it! It wasn’t until minutes later, when I was walking my dog, that I suddenly remembered in this article about a young woman (Alice, she/her) sharing her body with at least twenty alters, one of them being R (he/him), and R, who had a relationship with Alice’s ex-girlfriend Sonia, did not know that Alice had cheated on Sonia until R found out too late. This episode was like the exact reverse of that where Steven’s giddy and unsure about falling in love with Layla, who - you gotta remember this - is still married to Marc. In the tent, Marc’s like, “Don’t you dare fall in love with my wife!” And Steven’s like, “Already did, mate.” 😂 The short convo in the tomb where Marc’s like, “You kissed her, didn’t you” and Steven’s like, “Yeah, but there’s not much you can do about that, can you?”
2. Did Marc punch Steven in the face outside the tomb? Cuz I was like WTF what happened 😅
3. I liked that when Layla spoke about her father’s death, Steven did the customary thing where he’s like, “I’m sorry” (which is a standard response, really), and it was a roundabout way for Marc to apologize (hence later he tells Steven that he didn’t expect him to apologize to Layla).
4. The part where it slowly dawns on Steven and also us (the audience) that the traditional funerary practices were being shown - using a knife to dig into the body to extract the internal organs and all. Thank goodness we didn’t see how bloody that was and just gave us this intense feeling of horror and disgust, well done 👍
5. Layla running from, being caught by, and stabbing the jackal god - Anubis, was it? - with her flare was so edge-of-my-seat. I was like OH NO IT’S GOT LAYLA IS SHE OKAY
6. Layla calling Arthur Harrow “condescending” was top tier 👍 In which case he was preying on her insecurities, but she stayed strong.
7. The end scene with the white walls and so on… We know by now that Marc and Steven are two completely different identities despite sharing the same body, but hear me out - it’s not Marc’s mindscape (or headspace, system? I think there’s a word for this somewhere), nor is it Steven’s. You see, Marc was the one who woke up groggy, blur, and slowly comes to the realization of what’s happening, and sure, he runs, and frees Steven. Wait a minute, FREES Steven? Steven was encased in a sarcophagus, being the fly on the wall Marc said he was in Ep 2 (“The reflections help, but most of the time, it'll take all your willpower just to be a fly on the wall.”) And therefore I think it’s Jake’s mindscape/headspace we were looking at because why else, and where else, would Marc and Steven “physically” exist as the two separate identities they are?
8. It’s good to see that Marc and Steven have reconciled, even though the basis for why they did so was basically Layla 🤣 I’m glad to see that at some point or another, Marc needs Steven, and Steven needs Marc. The fact that they made up for all the bickering they did for 4 episodes straight is some heartwarming shit.
9. (Besides the fact that it was admittedly a little disorienting to lay my eyes on not one but two Oscar Isaacs in the same room 😅 but nah, I don’t have any gripes about that, I love how it’s a whole metaphor for Marc and Steven accepting each other.)
10. That bit where like, -Taweret: “Hi!😊” / Marc and Steven: *SCREAMS 😱*- was hilarious 😂🤣
11. WHAT, NO MID-CREDITS SCENE? 🥺 I guess we gotta wait until Ep 5 then…
-
Okay, what do y’all think?

When He Came Home
Tumblr media
Frankie “Catfish” Morales X Reader
Words: 2375
Summary: Your husband returns home from a ‘spontaneous vacation’ with a couple of his military friends, but you notice something off about him. While you already had suspicions, his unusual silence confirms that more happened than he let on.
Notes: Yup. All the Pedro characters shall have imagines. (I’m also thinking about writing one for Oscar Isaac’s character Santiago ‘Pope’ Garcia)
-
You were pissed. It didn’t take a mind reader to guess that. Frankie sheepishly put down his duffle bag and stepped into the apartment.
“Hey, babe.” He greeted, taking off his cap and running his fingers through his hair nervously.
“What. The. Fuck?” You whispered, making sure that the baby didn’t hear you. Frankie stepped towards you, but you kept to the corner of the kitchen, sending daggers with your glare. “Five fucking days. You don’t answer your phone. You don’t call. I have no idea where you are for five fucking days. I tried calling Santiago, I tried calling Tom-” You didn’t notice the way he flinched when you said his name, “No one answers. Jullian had a fever and I had to take him to the doctor and you weren’t here!” You threw the rag in your hand across the counter, the sudden motion scaring Jullian. His shrill cry filled the kitchen and you sighed with frustration, moving to pick him up.
“I got him.” Frankie crossed the apartment to Jullian’s booster seat, lifting him up into his arms. “Hey buddy,” His voice was soft and comforting as he rocked the baby back and forth in his arms, bouncing on his heels. Jullian continued to cry. “I know, I was gone too long.” He leaned in, giving you a side glance as he whispered. “Momma’s mad at me.” After a few more minutes of bouncing, Jullian calmed down, laying his head on Frankie’s shoulder.
“He only stops crying when you hold him.” All of the stress and worry you’d felt over the past five days just fell away, replaced with the relief of having him home. Frankie held out his free arm and you stepped into him willingly, letting him wrap it around you.
“I’m sorry.” He kissed your forehead, his breath warm against your skin. After everything that had happened in those god-forsaken days, he held onto the two of you with all of the strength he had left.
-
To make up for the distress, Frankie cooked dinner while you could relax in the living room, slowly swaying to the music on the radio. Your feet lightly grazed the wood floor as you moved, Jullian’s delightful giggle mixing with the music. He was sitting on the couch, reaching out to you with his fat little fingers. You picked him up and continued dancing, swooping him up and down to make him laugh more. Frankie peeked around the corner and smiled, wiping his hands off on a towel. This was the life that he wanted. Sure, the thought of reliving those days with Pope and the other guys was part of what got him to agree to the heist, but now that he was back here with you and his son, he couldn’t think of why he would ever risk it.
“Dinner’s ready.” He announced, almost sad to break up the little party. When you looked over at your husband, there was something about his smile that was off. Something almost sad. Like he was afraid that everything in front of him was only a dream. You set Jullian down in his booster seat and felt a hand gently rest on your hip. “Hey…” Frankie started, pulling you close to him. “I am sorry. I should have told Santigo to go without me-”
“No, I get it.” You draped your arms around his neck. “A little vacation with the guys sounded fun. You needed to spend some time with everybody from the ‘old days’.” His lips formed a tight smile.
“Right.” He pulled back and took off his hat, playfully placing it on Jullian’s head. The baby laughed and squealed as the far-too big hat flopped down in front of his eyes. Frankie smiled. “Come on, let’s eat.”
A few hours passed and Frankie was able to get Jullian to sleep twenty minutes sooner than you would have been able to. The two of you opened some beers and turned on a soccer game. Frankie loosely draped his arm around your shoulders and you curled up next to him. During commercials, a trailer for some new action movie came on, showing a group of men robbing a bank with automatic rifles. You weren’t really paying attention until you felt Frankie’s shoulders tense and the arm around you pulled you closer. His breathing was fast and his eyes were unfocused. At the climax of the trailer, a round of gunfire went off and he flinched.
“Baby?” You said softly. He hadn’t had this problem in years. “Frankie, honey, it’s okay.” You placed a hand on his chest, feeling his racing heartbeat. The commercial ended and he snapped out of it, looking at you as if nothing had happened.
“I’m going to get some ice, my beer’s warm.” He announced, kissing your cheek and walking out into the kitchen.
You didn’t say anything about it for the rest of the night. You figured that hanging out with the boys maybe just brought up some bad old memories. But deep in your gut, you had a feeling it was something else. A sudden vacation with a bunch of ex-military buddies? The more you dwelled on it, the more and more suspicious it became.
You tried to call Tom, the most responsible of the group, to ask him some questions, but nobody answered. So you called Santiago.
“Hey Y/N.” His voice was pleasant and you could practically picture that smug smile on his face. “It’s good to hear from you.”
“Santi, it’s been too long that I’ve had one of those cocktails of yours.” You laughed. You remembered Santigo being Frankie’s best man at your wedding, both of them all grins like a couple of high school boys. If anyone knew what was going on with Frankie, it would be Santiago. “I was just calling to ask how the vacation went. Frankie seems a little… off.”
“Oh, um…” There was silence on the other end for a moment and the rustle of him switching the phone to the other ear. “The vacation was great. He’s probably just jet-lagged.” There was something fake about his laugh that did little to comfort you. While he was damn good at what he did when it came to his friends he was a terrible liar.
“Right…” You sighed, running your fingers through your hair. “Thanks, Santi, talk to you soon.”
“Take care, Y/N.” His voice was suddenly sincere, almost guilty. “Give that kid of yours a hug for me.”
“Will do.” You hung up just Frankie came out in his shorts and a toothbrush in his mouth.
“Who was that?” He wondered curiously.
“Just one of the girls gossiping about her ex’s new wife.” You shrugged. He stepped into the light of the bedroom and you gasped. Covering his arms and torso were scrapes and bruises, some of which looked pretty damn serious. “A fucking vacation?!” You shouted, wincing when you heard Jullian wake up crying. Frankie moved to go get him, but you stomped out furiously. “Don’t. Fucking. Move.”
Of course, being the least favorite parent, you couldn’t get him to stop crying despite any of your efforts. You tried rocking him back to sleep, feeding him, changing him, but nothing ceased the wailing.
“Babe, let me get him.” Frankie sighed from the doorway.
“I’m fine.” You snapped, although your son’s shrieking was starting to give you a headache.
“Y/N,” Frankie held out his arms and you reluctantly handed him Jullian. Almost immediately, he began to calm down.
“I can’t…” You let out an angered growl and went to the kitchen for a glass of water to try and cool your head. You let the anger boil out of you until all that was left was the sheer panic and worry from seeing those marks. Slowly, you walked back to the nursery.
“Shhh,” Frankie cooed, sitting on the floor next to the cradle. Jullian’s tiny hand held onto his finger through the bars Jullian’s eyes slowly closed and Frankie drew his hand away but he didn’t stand up. He just sat on the carpet, looking at his son. “I heard you talking to ‘Pope’. You’re right. We weren’t on vacation.” He hung his head, his shoulders heavy with guilt. “He called us in for a job. A drug dealer down in Columbia that he’s been hunting for years had a house out in the jungle where he kept all of his money. ‘Pope’ wanted to take him down and we’d get a fair share of whatever money we took. He…” Frankie shook his head. “He needed a pilot.”
“Frankie tell me you didn’t.” You knelt down beside him, putting a hand on his bruised shoulder. After he got busted carrying his buddy’s coke, he lost his license.
“That money could have set us, baby.” He muttered angrily. “We never would have needed to worry about rent, we could send Jullian to any college that he wanted, hell we could live in an actual house instead of this shitty apartment.” You ran your hand up and down his back, careful to avoid any sore spots.
“So what happened to it?” You wondered. You weren’t mad about the money. You were pissed that he put himself in danger again. He kept his eyes trained on the floor.
“Everything went so wrong.” His words seemed to choke him as he spoke. “We took so many bags full of cash that the helicopter couldn’t make it over the mountains.” He motioned the bruises and scrapes. “These are from the crash.”
“God, Frankie,” You cried, wrapping your arms around him from behind, laying your forehead against his back in between his shoulder blades. Your hands rested on his stomach and he put his hands on top of them.
“We were too damn cocky. Thought we could actually pull it off. But things just got worse and worse and the only way to get the rest of us out alive was to ditch most of the cash.” The rest of us. Things started to click in your head and you felt disbelief turn inside you like a sickness.
“Frankie…” You moved around him so that you were looking at his face. “Why hasn’t Tom been answering the phone?” Your voice cracked because you didn’t really want to know. You wanted to pretend that it was just a stupid vacation. Frankie screwed his eyes shut and spoke quietly like if he said it soft enough then it wouldn’t be true.
“Tom’s dead.” His eyes opened, glossy and lost. And just like that, the stoney expression shattered, the numbness of everything fading and allowing for the sting. Frankie’s lip trembled and he tried to choke out something else. His friend was dead. He’d watched him die. Watched his brains splatter against the rocks of that godforsaken mountain. Tom was a good man. A father.
You didn’t say a word, instead pulled him into you, his head falling onto your shoulder, cradled by one hand as the other rubbed his back. His breathing was ragged and labored. And he clung to you like you were keeping him together, his arms wrapped tightly around your waist. You stayed like that in silence for seemed like an eternity before the too of you went out to the kitchen for a glass of whiskey you’d been saving for a rainy day.
He told you everything. From the walls full of cash to the villagers trying to take it. He couldn’t look you in the eye when he talked about the ones he killed.
“I shouldn’t have pulled the damn trigger, but I thought that they were getting too aggressive. Nobody knows if I shot first or if Tom did, but he’s the one that paid for it.” He drank his glass in one gulp and put it back on the counter. “That kid should have come after me.”
“Frankie, you can’t think like that.” You sighed, running a hand through his messy brown hair and resting it on his cheek. “What would I have done if you didn’t come back?”
“Tom’s kids lost their father that day.” He snapped, pulling away from you. “No amount of money is going to change that.”
“And those girls don’t deserve that.” You agreed. The thought of their loss made your heartache. You made him look at you again. “But would Jullian have deserved to lose his?” You didn’t fight the tears as they fell, watching them build in his eyes as well. “Who would get him to stop crying?” You both laughed through the sadness. “Because God knows I can’t.”
Frankie finally smiled and pulled your lips up to his. His fingers found their way to the nape of your neck, tangling themselves in your hair. He thought about every time that he didn’t think he would make it back. That hazy blur when the helicopter crashed and he thought he was dead. That he would never see your face again or hear you yell at him. He would never get to see Jullian grow up. To teach him how to drive or watch him graduate.
The two of you knew that you wouldn’t be getting any sleep so you reclaimed your spots on the couch and turned on some late-night talk show. You laid down with your head in his lap and one of his hands played with your hair while the other rested on your hip.
“Hey, Frankie?” You started, rolling over so you were looking up at him. He hummed in acknowledgment and smirked down at you. “If Santiago ever needs anything ever again…” You lifted yourself up to give him a sweet and semi-seductive kiss. “Tell him he has to go through me.” He chuckled and grabbed your waist, deepening the kiss. The couch became a kind of sanctuary for him. The only thing that existed was you with your smile and your voice and your soft, unscarred skin. You were his reminder that there was still good in the world from the light you brought to the beautiful life that the two of you had created.
He was here. He made it out of the hellhole alive. And he was never risking the life he built again.

Tumblr media
Oscar was having a strange dream as he slept in his bed in Brooklyn. It had started out quite beautifully in fact – there he was, walking in a field of sunflowers, with the sun shining down on his head. Suddenly, he heard a loud buzzing noise, coming from a short distance away from him. His eyes grew wide as a dark cloud rose from those blossoms. To his even greater horror, that cloud began to head his way.
Bees!
“WHOA!” Oscar cried out as he turned tail and ran for his life.
But the bee swarm was relentless, following him down the hill and into the woods. In his fear of getting stung, Oscar would whirl back often to see how far the swarm was. The bees were, however, slowly but surely closing the gap between them. It was when he turned to look back again that he failed to see the thick root of an oak jutting out from the leaves-covered ground ahead of him. With a surprised “Woof!” Oscar tripped on the root and fell face first on the ground.
As he turned onto his back, he raised his left arm to protect his face and closed his eyes. “No! Don’t! Please!” But the painful sting he dreaded never came.
Instead, he felt something small alight on his arm. As Oscar looked at the thing, his jaw dropped in shock.
The bee on his arm had Pedro’s tearful face! As he trained his eyes on the swarm hovering above him, he saw that all of the bees had his best friend’s face!
“Help meee!” The bee made a high-pitched wail. The swarm followed suit, again, with that plaintive cry of “HELP MEEEEEEEEEEE!”
Oscar sat up from his bed with a gasp, wiping the sweat from his face. He glanced at his wife Elvira beside him, but thankfully, he had not woken her up.
Now that he was fully awake, Oscar’s heart started to race again when he realized that he could still hear that buzzing sound inside the room. Peering through the darkness, he traced the sound to be coming from the floor on his side of the bed. Sure enough, it was his phone that was vibrating non-stop. He must have knocked it over the night stand while thrashing from his nightmare. Not wanting to wake up his wife, Oscar picked up the phone, went outside the bedroom, and tiptoed down to the kitchen.
As he switched on the light, Oscar pressed “Answer” on his phone, without peeking at the screen to find out who was calling him, and spoke a single “Yeah?”
The hairs on Oscar’s arms stood on end when his mysterious caller moaned, “GRUMMPPPYYYY!”
“What the f—” All of a sudden, Oscar remembered his dream and he knew who he was talking to. “Baby Chicken, is that you?” A bit pissed off, he added, “Do you know what time it is?”
“I’m sorrryyyy!” Pedro whined back on the other end. “But…but…”
Hearing how distraught his friend was, Oscar was seized by fear and apprehension. “Hey, hey! It’s okay. Did something happen on set? Heaven forbid…did they…did they fire you?”
“No, no! I’ve actually finished a few scenes already.”
“Then what’s wrong?”
A brief pause. Then, there was a choked sob and Pedro wailed, “Werner Herzog is picking on me!”
Both of Oscar’s eyebrows rose at that revelation. From his own personal experience, he knew that a lot of things can happen on a film set, but he never expected that to happen to his friend, who was noted in the industry as one of the friendliest and kindest actors. On the other hand, Werner Herzog was notorious for his eccentric behavior. He couldn’t fathom how his cheerful and so desperately eager-to-please friend could’ve gotten on the bad side of an infamous director like Herzog.
“Now, calm down, Baby Chicken,” Oscar tried to comfort Pedro, as he sat down on a stool. “Tell me what’s been happening.”
For twenty minutes, Oscar listened carefully as Pedro told him about the events of the past few days – about Herzog’s overprotectiveness of the puppet and his determination to keep it away from Pedro. It sounded like lunatic behavior. Then again, this was Werner Herzog they were talking about. Hollywood has gotten used to the director’s eccentricities.
But not poor Pedro.
“Werner has already finished filming his last episode,” Pedro was bringing his narrative to its conclusion. “But he refused to leave the set. He said that he wanted to watch us film Episode 8 in the backlot. Because there were going to be explosions and flamethrowers, he wanted to make sure that the baby would be safe. His wife Lena has been calling the production offices, asking when he was going home. But Werner won’t leave.”
“I have to give credit to the man,” Oscar remarked with a cluck of his tongue. “He certainly is committed to this delusion of his.”
“What’ll I do? I’m having difficulty concentrating with him lurking around like an evil shadow. I constantly feel like I’m going to have a nervous breakdown. And…and…” The quiet admission came. “…I want to spend more time with Grogu.”
So, you fell in love with the puppet too, huh! It must be that cute if you like him this much, Oscar mused to himself.
Letting out a heavy sigh, he admitted, “Having never met or worked with Werner Herzog before, I’m not sure what advice I could give you. The way I see it, you need to man up to this guy. I mean, you’re the lead actor, for chrissake, and he’s just a guest star! You need to be with that puppet more if you want to develop a convincing on-screen bond with it.”
“My point exactly! But I’m terrified of him. His mood swings scare me.”
“Well, he is an old man. Maybe he misses his kids and grandkids. Hey, I know! Why don’t you give him a nice big cake as a peace offering? Because of their age, a lot of Seniors can no longer eat the foods they loved when they were younger.”
Pedro let out a snort. “Why should I give Werner a cake? He’s the one who’s been terrorizing me!”
“Then I think you have no choice but to man up to him. Maybe not a direct confrontation. Maybe show him something which he can’t do.”
“Well, I can’t think of anything. This is THE Werner Herzog we’re talking about here. He’s done a lot of things in lifetime. Hell, he even ate a shoe on a bet!”
“I’m sure you’ll think of something. With your charms, you’ll have Herzog eating out of your hand.”
“I doubt it,” Pedro said dubiously. There was an exhalation on the other end. “I wish you were here to give me a hug, man, coz I really need it.”
Tumblr media
“Well, consider yourself virtually hugged and here’s a smooch for good measure.” Oscar then made a loud “Mwah!” on the phone.
“Thanks, Oscar. And I’m sorry to have woken you up. I…I just needed to hear your voice right now.”
“It’s okay. Just keep in touch, alright? Keep me updated on what’s been happening on set and with Herzog.”
“I will. Bye, Grumpy Eagle!”
“Bye and take care, Baby Chicken!”
There was a soft click as the call ended.
“Honey?” A sleepy voice spoke behind him.
“Oh, I’m sorry,” Oscar apologized to his wife Elvira. She was standing at the kitchen doorway, rubbing her eyes and yawning. “I didn’t mean to wake you.”
Elvira wandered over to her husband, who wrapped his arms around her waist and settled her down on his lap. “Was that Pedro on the phone? Is he okay?”
“He’s having some problems with Werner Herzog.”
“THE Werner Herzog? I’ve heard he is quite a character.”
“Judging from what Pedro told me right now, he is certainly that!”
Briefly, Oscar gave his wife a rundown of what’s been happening to his best friend.
Elvira clucked her tongue in dismay and shook her head. “What a silly old man! With Pedro fretting and carrying on about the baby like this, doesn’t Herzog see that Pedro is already acting like a real father?”
Hearing that comment, Oscar could only stare at his wife in amazement at her astuteness.
“I guess Herzog hasn’t noticed it or refuses to see it,” Oscar agreed with her. “Then again, I don’t think Pedro has realized that he has become a Dad to that Child either.”

here is part 2 of my sci fi recs masterlist! again, i could’ve gone on with even more recs but i decided to draw the line here. this set for the most part errs on the darker side, thematically, visually, conceptually etc. i personally find it super thought-provoking and intriguing but that’s just me. i highly recommend reading the tw under the cut if you’re thinking of watching, especially the matrix and space gothic slides. please view at your discretion <3
part 1/2
If you like WLW (um idk why I only made this slide based on identity; it just kinda happened lmao but I think it works):
Siren: (tw: parent loss, grief, thalassophobia) a mermaid surfaces in a cove town looking for her lost sister. Polyamorous relationship between a man, a black/indigenous woman, and the mermaid!!!! Environmentalism! As a person who has thalassophobia, I didn’t find this too hard to watch. There aren’t that many underwater scenes, thankfully.
Black Mirror: San Junipero: (tw: grief, but otherwise none that I recall; it’s pretty lighthearted) two women meet in a beach resort in the 80s and fall in love. Interracial wlw!
Orphan Black: (tw: suicide, infertility, rape implication, VB, language, drug use) a woman realizes she is one of several clones and uncovers an elaborate corporate conspiracy. This is one of my personal favorites with great rep of complex women of all ages and bodily autonomy. Several central queer characters and a black male secondary character!
Starfish: (tw: grief, a few jump scares and brief monstrous imagery, blood) after the death of her best friend, a young woman breaks into the deceased’s apartment and discovers a chain of music tapes that could save the world. Weird, subtle, and experimental. Not to sound like a surfer but you kinda have to allow yourself to be in the vibe. The main character and her friend were definitely a thing imo.
Annihilation: (tw: body horror, VB, disturbing imagery) a team of women scientists explore an anomaly that rapidly mutates genes. There are canonical and coded wlw and multiple (light-skinned) POC in this but the rep is short-lived. I put it on because although it should’ve been more ambitious with the casting, I think it breaks *some* ground for Hollywood sci fi with the all-woman team and more than one WOC. Wack ending though.
Mad Max: Fury Road: (tw: rape implication, violence) I think everyone knows about this one but: in the apocalypse, a woman breaks 4 younger women out of a harem. A badass car chase across the desert ensues. A bit light on plot/worldbuilding, but sooooo cool-looking and very thematic!!!!
If you liked STRANGER THINGS:
It: (tw: VB) don’t actually watch this lmao I’m serious. It’s really stupid, and not in a funny way. But I do think Stranger Things was inspired by this story overall. The modern It films are better but they’re also really kjslsklskls stupid? Stephen King in general is obsolete imo.
The Thing: (tw: VB) an alien that can take the form of others wreaks havoc on a scientific facility in Antarctica. It’s dark and vibey, but I feel like it’s just Alien in Antarctica with truly terrible special effects tbh?? Others feel differently. It’s also classified as sci fi/horror, so stay away if you’re easily scared! Not too good on representation.
Super 8: (tw: some language) a group of preteens witnesses an alien-caused train crash as they’re filming a home movie. Not diverse but I definitely think it inspired a lot of sci fi for the 2010s, ESPECIALLY Stranger Things. Not too scary either!
ET: (tw: it’s been a really long time since I watched so I don’t remember but it’s rated PG) I think everyone knows what this is about!
Alien: (tw: VB) truckers in space discover a deadly evolving alien. One of my favorite movies of all time! I love the aesthetic and the mood and worldbuilding so much. Ellen Ripley is one of the first Final Girls in the horror genre. I personally found this more of a sci fi than a horror movie but I’d say stay away if you’re nervous!!
Terminator: (tw: VB) a deadly android is sent to kill a woman who’s destined to birth the man who saves the world. Terminator 2 is way better imo because it centers on Sarah rather than the dudes saving her and trying to kill her. But it’s still worth a watch, you know, for the culture.
If you liked CONTAGION:
War of the Worlds: (tw: blood) pretty straightforward aliens come to Earth to take over. Sorry to rec another T*m Cruise movie but I really like the alien design and the apocalypsey feel of this one. Baby Dakota Fanning is in it too!
Falling Skies: (tw: VB, body horror, rape) alien invasion yada yada but the alien lore gets more interesting as it goes on. It’s kind of cheesy and yeah maybe I did discover it by looking up the iCarly boyfriend (and what about it??) but it’s nice to have on in the downtime. An Asian woman co-stars.
Knowing: (tw: blood) school students unearth a time capsule that contains a sheet from a girl who predicted all the tragic world events between 1959-2009. This is NOT a good movie but it’s SO hilarious to me because of the acting and contrivances. Fun to group-watch!!!!
10 Cloverfield Lane: (tw: VB, emotional abuse) a woman wakes up in a bunker to a captor who tells her that the world has fallen to alien apocalypse. I think this movie elevates the original Cloverfield in pretty much every way. Again, super tense and moody. The conflict revolves around whether or not the captor is being truthful.
Train to Busan: (tw: extreme VB and disturbing imagery) a man and his daughter are on a train when a zombie hops on at the last minute. It’s Korean with an all-Asian cast; Choi Woo-shik co-stars. I definitely wouldn’t watch if you’re scared of blood and gore. It’s very gross and violent.
12 Monkeys: (tw: ableism, violence) a man from the 2030s is sent back to the 1990s to prevent the plague that will end the world. I think the aesthetics of this are really cool but otherwise it’s not a favorite. But I think it appeals to people who like apocalypse and time travel stuff!
If you liked THE MATRIX:
Strange Days: (tw: rape, sex, nudity, VB, racism, police brutality) memories can be saved to hard-drives and sold on the black market for exorbitant prices. Very problematic and triggering presentation of rape, but young Angela Basset stars and there’s a condemnation of police brutality that’s still relevant 20+ years after its release.
Upgrade: (tw: ableism, VB, fridging) a disabled man installs an AI in his spine to help him move and investigate the murder of his wife. The premise is glaringly ableist and I feel weird even recommending it tbh but it’s got great visuals and a few good twists.
Altered Carbon: (tw: VB, weird interracial body switching, uhhh I haven’t finished this one IDK) in a society where human bodies are interchangeable, a man wakes up in a new body after 300 years of his mind being dormant. A Latina woman co-stars, two Asian characters in a subplot, a few other POC here and there as well. I think season 2 stars a black man.
eXistenZ: (tw: VB, anti-Asian racism, general weirdness? IDK it’s hard to describe. There are guns made out of bones and weirdly sexual visuals.) after someone tries to assassinate her, a video game designer and her bodyguard must play through her virtual reality game in order to save the only copy of the game.
Minority Report: (tw: VB, eye removal/insertion) all crimes are predicted and criminals reported before they are committed. The main character is preemptively accused of murder. This one is really white but it was one of the first movies that got me into sci fi. Early 2000s Colin Farrell <3.
If you liked WESTWORLD:
Humans: (tw: uncanny valley, objectification) androids are household helpers and public assistants throughout Britain until one day they start developing consciences. It hits a lot of the themes of Westworld without all the unnecessary pretentiousness, “edginess,” and “grittiness,” and it stars Gemma Chan and Colin Morgan!!
Blade Runner 2049: (^) an android is ordered to find and kill a human/android hybrid. It’s not without its issues but it’s one of my favorite movies of all time, right up there with Alien. So beautiful, so thematic, so thought-provoking (to me, anyway. I know a lot of people thought it was way too slow).
Ex Machina: (^) a man is invited to a private estate to help test the intelligence of an android. It’s kind of predictable imo but you know Oscar Isaac and Sonoya Mizuno are in it so we have to stan, and so is Domhnall Gleeson, for the SW fans! I like how isolated and quiet it feels.
I Am Mother: (tw: blood, gaslighting) after an extinction event, a young woman is raised by a lone android in a human repopulation facility until one day a woman knocks. It starts off slow and a bit generic, but I’m obsessed with the 2nd and 3rd acts of this movie---good acting, dialogue, and fantastic visuals. It has that same isolated feel as Ex Machina with only three characters, all of which are women/woman-coded!!!
If you liked ALIEN (space gothic):
Battlestar Galactica (2004-2008 reboot): (tw: genocide, war, colonization, VB, uncanny valley, rape, infidelity) space opera that follows humanity as it fights the ever-evolving and powerful enemy of their own creation: androids named Cylons. Um? I  L O V E  THIS SHOW SO MUCH and I truly do think it’s everything sci fi should be. There is a really unfortunate Miss Saigon-esque romance plot in season 1 and a lazily-written love triangle involving a black woman in season 3, but otherwise it’s one of my all-time favorites and I highly recommend. It’ll spin your mind and tug your heartstrings for years.
Black Mirror: Men Against Fire: (tw: genocide, war, nudity) soldiers in the near future protect citizens from mutant zombies, but one soldier starts experiencing strange hallucinations in the field. This is such an underrated Black Mirror episode starring a black man. There’s brief objectification of a black woman but it’s very anti-military and it has an interesting sterile aesthetic that reminds me of Alien.
High Life: (tw: rape, black holes/space anxiety, very disturbing) prisoners are given the option to join a space expedition and serve as experimental subjects en route to a black hole. Please please stay away if you are triggered by sexual violence of any kind. There’s almost no physical violence in this movie but it’s psychologically haunting imo.
The Faculty: (tw; VB, drug use) high schoolers discover their teachers are being possessed by an invading alien race. I LOVE THIS MOVIE LMFAOOOO. The cast is SO wild---Elijah Wood, John Oliver, Usher, Salma Hayek, Josh Hartnett??? And I’m probably forgetting more. The combination of the cast, the terrible dialogue, and shitty special effects is PEAK comedy imo. But bear in mind it’s bloody!!
Prometheus: (tw: body horror, VB, uncanny valley) a crew of scientists heads on a deep space mission to find the aliens who created the human race. A prequel to Alien, but I kind of view it as its own thing. Despite the plot holes, I love this movie too! It was one of my sci fi gateways and the visuals are stunning. It’s pretty gory though so if that’s not your thing stay away.
Life: (tw: extreme VB) a lesser Alien, but it provides all the space gothic tropes (jokey crew, shots of space, really pretty spaceship, everyone dies, creepy alien) with a well-known cast---Gyllenhaal, Reynolds, etc.
The X Files: (tw: a few episodes contain 90s racism, sexism, queerphobia etc but you can skip them) a lot of people have watched this so I barely have to explain, but it’s one of my favorites. Two FBI agents investigate multiple aliens and get involved in government conspiracies along the way. A good gateway!
A Quiet Place: (tw: child loss, VB, tension) I think most people know what this is about too. Alien apocalypse with aliens that hunt by sound. The daughter in the family is deaf, and so is the actress who portrays her. The representation of deafness was critically acclaimed.

Always & Forever - Oneshot
Tumblr media
Warnings: fluff
Author’s note: just basically a oneshot of Pedro & reader at the Golden Globes and announcing some exciting news!; special appearance by Oscar Isaac
Pedro walks over to you in your shared bedroom. He finishes zipping the zipper for you then wraps his arms around you. Both of you looking at the reflection of one another in the ceiling to floor length mirror. He rubs your stomach over the royal purple silk dress you’re wearing. “If win I get to announce it to the world.”
You smile and place your hands over his, “only if you win first. If you don’t I will. Even though I will be a nervous wreck.”
He frowns slightly, “what if we don’t win?”
“Then we’ll announce it later.” You reply turning to face him inside of his embrace. You reach up and straighten the bow tie for his tux.
“I love you missus Pascal.”
You raise your eyebrows. “I thought we were announcing the pregnancy, not the engagement.”
Pedro grins, “yes the baby.” He kisses you lightly, “I just love the sound of calling you missus Pascal.”
You laugh, “we aren’t even married yet.”
“Gives you time to get used to it.” Pedro shrugs, touches the ring on your left hand, “maybe change your mind.”
You loop an arm around his neck and press your mouth to his. “Never, mister Pascal. Always and forever.”
He smiles widely, “always and forever.”
You stand there smiling, knowing you want no one else but him. You look at your ring and slide it off, knowing you two are planning to announce the engagement in a few days with your friends and family with a surprise party/engagement party.
The melody of the doorbell chimes throughout the house.
“Ready future missus Pascal?” Pedro asks holding out his hand.
“Ready as I’ll ever be mister Pascal,” you say grabbing his hand.
Your stomach’s doing flip flops as the limo comes to a stop outside of the Beverly Hilton hotel. Throngs of fans, interviewers, and cameras were lined down the red carpet ready to shout and scream, ask questions, and take pictures. This was your first awards show ever, and your first one with Pedro. Both of you were nominated – him Best Supporting Actor, you Best Screenplay. Though not for the same movie.
Once outside in the warm California air, you hear his name being screamed and shouted, you hear your name a few times too but Pedro was what the crowd wanted. He, after all, is The Mandalorian.
You sigh as you smile and loop your arm into Pedro’s.
“It’s okay, mi amor. Just breathe.” Pedro whispers. He knows you aren’t one for big crowds.
“Says you,” you say with a smile.
He places a light kiss on your forehead, “we’ll be inside before you know it.”
Forty minutes later you and Pedro walk into the ballroom and take a seat at your assigned table. Thankful for a couple of familiar faces – Oscar Isaac and his wife Elvira.
“You two look lovely,” Elvira says as you sit down.
“Thank you. At least you two didn’t have to deal with Baby Yoda questions and ‘are you two ever going to work together,’” you reply with a light laugh.
Oscar pipes in, “so are you two ever going to work together?”
The four of you laugh together as the lights begin to flash, indicating five minutes to show time. Pedro moves his chair closer to yours and places his hand in your lap. As you take his hand in yours, he places a kiss on your head. You know his category is one of the first few to be done.
You squeeze his hand lightly, he’s just as nervous as you are.
Close to half an hour later, Idris Elba and Jennifer Lopez walk onto the stage and begin reading from the teleprompt. Pedro begins to tap his leg from his nerves, and you reach out and squeeze it. He looks over at you and smiles, “just wait till they get to your category.”
You smile and roll your eyes.
Jennifer opens the envelope, “and the winner of the Golden Globe is Pedro Pascal!”
Pedro looks stunned at first but smiles as he looks at you and kisses you on the mouth.
“Congratulations babe!” You exclaim as you embrace him briefly before letting him go.
Pedro walks up to the stage, weaving in between tables. Once he is on stage, he shakes Idris’ hand and kisses Jennifer on the cheek while taking the award.
“Wow,” Pedro says into the mic, as he looks down at the award. “Wow.” He clears his throat and returns his focus to the audience. “Thank you HFPA. Thank you to the cast and crew of the movie. The director, the producers. My agent for placing this script in front of me. My family and friends for always supporting me.” He finds you in the crowd and smiles. “To the amor de mi vida, I love you more than anything on this Earth. You are my rock, my foundation. Thank you for giving me the courage to step out of my comfort zone to do this. I am over the moon we are starting our own family in less than seven months. Always and forever mi amor.”
Oscar and Elvira both look at you dead on.
You blush and smile then look over at them and shrug, “he won, he got to announce it.”
Elvira brings you in for a hug. “Congratulations!”
You hug her back, “thank you.”
She pulls away, “know what you want?”
“No, and we want it to be a surprise.” You answer.
“You should have twins. Boy, girl. One little Pedro, one little you.” Oscar laughs.
“Just one will do. For now.” You smile.
“Care if we do a betting pool?” Oscar asks.
Elvira glares at him.
Oscar shrugs, “what? It’ll be fun guessing what Pedro and Y/N will have, and when he or she, or them will be born.”
You and Elvira both laugh and shake your heads.
Pedro returns to the table, award in hand. He sits back down in his seat and brings you into his arms. “You are my world love.”
“And you, mine.” You sigh contently.
Pedro places a hand on your stomach. “And I’ll keep telling him, or her, I won first and was able to announce it to the whole world.”
“But I will be their favorite parent,” you say back at him teasingly.
Pedro smiles, “we’ll see about that.”
You knew the award show was getting to close to the end when Oscar excuses himself from the table because he is the presenter for the category you are nominated for. Your leg becomes jittery under your gown and Pedro is there to stop it with the gentle hand.
“Breathe,” he whispers.
“I can’t,” your lungs feel small.
He kisses you lightly. “Breathe,” he grabs your hand and holds it.
You swallow as you nod and breathe. You hated this but loved him.
Oscar walks out on the stage with Emilia Clark and they begin their spiel for the Best Screenplay and announce the nominees. Emilia hands the envelope over to Oscar who opens it slowly then smiles, “so glad I get to announce this. The Golden Globe goes to Y/F/N Y/L/N!”
You’re taken back by your name being called as Pedro embraces you tightly. You hug him back and squeeze.
He pulls back, smiles and touches your cheek. “Go get ‘em.”
You nod as you make your way up to the stage. Oscar hugs you before you let go and embrace Emilia who hands you your award. It’s not light, not too heavy. This was a first for you, a first time winning an award like this.
“Oh, my,” you breathlessly say. “Thank you HFPA, thank you to, uh, Sarah Polley for taking a chance on my script. To all the producers thank you for taking a chance on the both of us with this little movie. To the cast – you brought my words to life and I can never thank you enough for that. To the crew – you made it all possible. To my friends, my family I am all here because of you.” You pause and twist your hands around the award. You look up and find Pedro in the crowd. “And to the love of my life, you encouraged me to write this story and I am so thankful you did. Without you this wouldn’t have been possible. You are my world, always and forever. I can’t wait to start a family with you either.”
You couldn’t ask for anything more in this moment. You had everything you ever needed – the love of your life and the promise of new life inside of you.
