Gio's scowl turns to a confused glance. "Can I have a mirror?"

Guzma looks quizzical but he puts two and two together realizing that fuck they were probably kept in a lab like lusimine had for pokemon. He puts his phone in camera mode and it flies over to him.

Gio flinched not used to seeing a phone that flies or has eyes, a rotom? How odd.... his thoughts come to a halt as he sees himself for the first time. A monotone voice rings out from his lips. "16, I'm 16."

Guzma looks down at the other two.

"They're both 15... twins."

Guzma bites his lip. "I'll make you guys more broth " He needs to tell Nanu about them because this could be bad they have brands on them from a hot iron.

"How long were you awake?" Gio asks softly as that kid leaves them alone.

"The entire time." Ari says softly. "Maxie you don't have to pretend he's gone."

A soft breath is released as he gets up holding onto the pokeball he hid in his fist. "He's not going to take her right?"

"No Max. We'll kill him before that." Ariana smiles softly, they got used to the experiments and the pain, but Maxie was only there for such a short time and he took the brunt while they were mostly left alone.

"I promised her I'll get the paint off." Maxie mumbles into his broth

Gio sighs drinking slowly. "We'll stay long enough to get out strength then we have to leave." He looks around. "We don't even know where we are... we can't risk our safety in the hands of some kid."

Ari nods also drinking slowly she places the bowl down. "This building is abandoned from the looks of it, and the smell. It's a base for him, but I don't trust we can stay long without being found out."

"Let me finish this bowl, and I'll do a walk around." Maxie says quietly. "You two need to rest and I don't want to be confined."

Ari nods not liking the idea shown with her frown, but she wasn't going to make her twin uncomfortable he's basically the only family she had left apart from Gio her partner.

"Nanu, look don't rush into this." Guzma was walking backwards in front of the older man. "They are scared kids, I didn't even realize my phone took a picture of them." He stops pushing Nanu back from the gates of po town. "I don't know what has gotten you so riled up from that picture, but you can't come in."

Nanu scowls and stands up straight he might be shorter then the 7ft Guzma but he was not taking chances. He slouched again seeing Guzma step back with worry. "Look kid this is personal. They won't be scared of me." Quietly after. "They will be pissed off."

"Nanu no. They are starved kids that won't let each other go, you're in uniform they would probably think you're there to take them away." Guzma sighs. "Look ill let you wait outside the door, but that's it."

Nanu pauses. He can work with that, he thumbed the pokeball in his pocket and nods. "Fine but this is a matter for the police from that photo alone."

"Just let me help them Nanu." Guzma opened the gate letting Nanu follow him.

The creak of the door opening made Gio's hair stand on edge. He couldn't stop Ari from moving in front of him to protect him, and Maxie had his hands ready to throw the glass bowl at whoever was entering.

A soft gruff voice of that kid drifted through before he fully opened the door. "Hey uh I'm back.... oh you are all awake now." He rubs the back of his head. "I uh got some more food stuff if you guys are up to it."

Ari scowls and narrows her eyes. "You were followed." She gets up slowly not caring about the thin medical gown she was in or what she was revealing. "Tell whoever you brought with you to show themselves."

Maxie is up right next to her holding the bowl in a white knuckle grasp.

Guzma holds his hands up to cover his face. "Hey hey hey he isn't here to hurt you, I'm not here to hurt you either. Please cover up." He frowns and grumbles "I knew I should of asked Plumeria for help."

Nanu uses this to walk in behind Guzma his arms in his pocket as he slouched. His snark died in his throat as he saw the three up close. The old bullet scars and new scars didn't mesh well, and he swallowed the bike in his throat seeing the flesh limbs on Maxie where he knew he lost those limbs his right arm and left leg. He unconsciousnessly straightened his back his slouch and carefree exterior faded as quickly like a sheikd that was knocked out of your hands in the heat of battle. "Fuck." He swallows. "Guzma leave." His neutral tone was replaced with one he hasn't used since he was back being agent zero.

Guzma paled and stepped back forgetting it was Nanu for the moment. "What?"

"Guzma please this doesn't involve you."

Guzma now with anger on his face. "No I won't let you-" he is cut off by a loud whistle

"That's enough." Gio sits up his eyes heavy with exhaustion. "Ariana and Maxie please sit down you're going to give the poor boy a anyerism he isn't used to the human form being showed off." He sighs watching the two sit and cover up. "Nanu?"

The red eyes narrowed. "Fuck, Giovanni you vanish for well over a decade and you're here?" He rubs his temples. "I should of never quit smoking. Fuck fuck FUCK." His shout makes Guzma jump. "What the fuck happened your house burns down, your pokemon dead in the ruins and you're both here." He shuts his eyes taking a breath. "Not to mention you Max you went missing a year ago...."

Giovanni flinched. "They're dead?" His voice is quiet as he sits back down and holds Ari and Maxie's hands. Ari look close to breaking hearing that news.

Nanu takes a deep breath and sighs. "You didn't even know, same with yours Max." He takes another deep breathe. "Get up you're coming with me, look I don't care the circumstances, and I don't care about the past I have long since stopped caring I want my friends back and I'm too fucking old to keep this grudge." He throws his hands up. "For fucks sake Mew even announced that they helped you guys create Mewtwo."

Guzma looked between them. "Wait you know them."

The tension seemed to bleed out of the room as Ari laughed tears now freely streaming down her face. "You've got a good kid Nanu."

Nanu covers his face. "Yeah he is a pretty good kid ain't he."

California College of the Arts (but I dropped out when I was hired at Disney)

How did you get hired at Disney?

My bosses found me on twitter through my Team Rocket fanart. They liked my drawing style and asked if I wanted to take a storyboard test. I did, I passed, I got interviewed and moved to LA two weeks later to start storyboarding.

Who's your favorite Pokémon?

What are your favorite ships?

Any ship with Jessie. Yamushipping, Rocketshipping and Hanamusashipping are my top three!

Who do you ship Ash with?

I was a big Pokéshipper when I was younger but nowadays don't really feel strongly about any of the ships involving the kid characters. I'm also in the "Ash is aroace" camp.

Do you have any trans headcanons?

You can find em here along with other headcanons! It should be noted that I don't usually marry myself to one hc (unless it's for a specific AU I'm trying to build out) and love seeing various interpretations of a character! Trans woman Jessie, Trans woman James, Trans man James, Genderfluid Jessie, give em to me!

Do you play the games?

I've played all the mainline Pokémon games and very much enjoy them! But I am much more invested in the anime and the characters in the anime.

HANAMUSA AU QUESTIONS

Where can I read all the comics in order?

Here! I update anytime I make a new comic and list them in chronological order (since I just draw comics at random points in the timeline as they interest me). This post also already answers some of the frequently asked questions about this AU like: How did Jessie and Delia meet? What are James and Meowth up to? How old are Jessie and Delia? etc.

What does "Hanamusa" mean?

Hanamusa is a combination of Delia and Jessie's Japanese names, Hanako and Musashi respectively.

When does this AU take place?

It takes place sometime after the Mezase Pokémon Master/To Be a Pokémon Master series. So all the events that happened in the series, unless retconned within the series, happened. Ash is 10 at the start of the comics.

What's the status between Jessie, James, Meowth and Giovanni/Team Rocket?

Not great terms since they were fired, but also not the worst terms. Giovanni just let the three of them go without any further issues. I will say that I've always loved the theory that Giovanni keeps Jessie specifically around because of her parentage and he as a soft spot for her that he keeps a secret. I feel like Matori was the one that got the three of them fired and Giovanni wasn't able to make an excuse for them this time (without showing nepotism/special treatment) so he was forced to let them go.

If you headcanon Delia as a lesbian, how did Ash come to be?

Delia was young when she had Ash and I hc that she just didn’t really explore her sexuality much! I myself didn’t realized I liked women until I was 18 and didn’t know I liked ONLY women until like 2 years ago. She got married, had a baby and realized after her husband left that she liked women (trans people exist obviously but I’m also interpreting Ash’s father as a cis man).

Who do you think Ash’s dad is?

I don’t know and I don’t really care to explore it. I’m going off of the novel interpretation that he’s just a deadbeat that left to be a trainer, failed and never came back because of the shame. He’s not important.

Isn’t Giovanni Ash’s dad?

That’s a common misconception that people remember wrong from the Pokémon Live show. Delia mentions she dated Giovanni but then left him and his gang after meeting Ash’s father. I also don’t consider the live show canon personally! I follow The Birth of Mewtwo timeline where Madame Boss founded Team Rocket.

Do you think Delia and Giovanni dated at least?

Nah, I think he’s too old for her? I always got the vibe from The Birth of Mewtwo that he was quite a bit older than Jessie and it’d be sus if he was dating Delia when she was married to, and had a child with her husband at 18/19. He’s a bad guy but not a BAD guy.

You mentioned you still ship Jessie and James. Why not make a Jessie, James, Delia polycule?

I have a few reasons I’ve mentioned before! 1. I’m in super deep with this AU already and I feel it’d be very confusing for casual viewers of my stuff if James was added into the relationship haha. 2. I’ve drawn Jessie and James together since 2011 and took this AU as an opportunity to try my hand at writing them as queer, platonic besties bc I love that interpretation of them a lot as well. 3. I’m not poly myself and the way I write this ship is largely based off of my experiences with my girlfriend. I just know I’d favor the Jessie/Delia of it all which isn’t fair and not a good interpretation of a poly relationship. All that said, I DO super enjoy seeing peoples’ poly headcanons and art!

Who does James end up with in this AU?

No one. He's aroace and is happy to be single

Do Jessie and James have all their Pokémon in this AU

I think they have all the Pokémon that they did by the end of Mezase Pokémon Master (all their Pokémon that were left at HQ). Most of their released Pokémon have stayed released and the Alola Pokémon are still in Alola. I bring back Arbok and Weezing post-Jessie and Delia getting married. I may bring back Chimecho, Growlie and Cacnea if I think of an idea I like!

What are Meowth and James up to in this AU?

Does Ash travel with anyone at this point of his life?

I don't have anyone in particular in mind! I could see him making new friends (Nemona???) or traveling with different combinations of old friends. Like him, Misty and Goh, him, Dawn and Cilan, him, Serena and Lillie etc.

Will Delia ever get over her phobia of snake Pokémon

Not fully! I think overcoming fears is fine and good but I think real PHOBIAS are much harder to get past and I don't want to cheapen it. She slowly gets used to Jessie's Seviper specifically and gets to the point where she can pet it comfortably with Jessie in the room. But otherwise, still scared and would need that same amount of time per Pokémon

Is Jessie gaining weight or is it just me?

Not just you! Jessie puts on a bit of relationship weight overtime as you'll see in the later comics in the timeline. Jessie grew in poverty, never knowing when her next meal would be and that continued into her life as a Team Rocket member. Once she was able to settle down (with a woman who runs her own restaurant no less) she's able to live a healthier lifestyle with regular meals and puts on some weight because of that.

Does Jessie ever feel self conscious about gaining weight?

Nope! She feels happier and healthier and hotter. She's also unreasonably excited to clear out her old clothes and get a new wardrobe.

Would Jessie and Delia ever have kids together or adopt?

Nah, Ash is enough for them! I have come up with hypothetical kids for them but they're not canon to this AU. Just a fun little thing for me.

Will you ever put this on webtoon?

Nah. People mostly ask me this because they want to read everything in the order of the timeline but to my knowledge, you can’t reorder chapters or installments which would defeat the purpose. I also don’t think nintendo fan stuff would fly there. Also, also it’s just extra work and another place to upload and I want to keep this all fun for myself~

On the Proxy Kiss

I wrote this in an attempt to do a plain English explanation for someone on Reddit. Maybe you'll find it useful?

The Giovanni and their associate families used to have a very formal Embrace procedure, overseen by the elders of the Giovanni family itself.

Let's make up a character: call her Alessandra Giovanni. Before Alessandra can be Embraced, she's got to spend time as a ghoul, proving she's worth it. She will be ghouled by someone who is NOT going to Embrace her, and might not even be from the same family. They call it the Proxy Kiss.

The idea is that every new "Giovanni" vampire has gone through an apprenticeship and shown they can cope with the family's activities. Each has bonds to at least two Kindred – the one who ghouled them and the one who Embraced them. Everyone has divided loyalties, and nobody gets to choose their own childer and build up a power base.

If Alessandra has two Giovanni parents, she's a prestigious ghoul. Single blooded. Stronger necromancy. That's what they believe, anyway. Also, as a Giovanni, if she gets sired by someone who isn't a Giovanni, that makes her look bad – like she didn't deserve the family blood and name.

Now let's make up another character: Bruno Puttanesca. Bruno Embraces Alessandra when he feels like it; he doesn't wait for the elders' permission, he doesn't wait for the big family meeting on the 4th of April (when Embrace rights and Proxy Kisses are traditionally assigned). He just goes for it.

This annoys everyone. Alessandra's regnant has lost her ghoul. Alessandra's sire to be has lost his future childe. The Giovanni elders have been disobeyed. And it's Bruno's fault. Alessandra was just THERE.

Why is it Bruno's fault? Because he knows the rules. Because the Giovanni do follow the Camarilla's Traditions (it's part of the Promise, their whole neutrality deal with the Camarilla).

One of those is the Tradition of Progeny – you need permission from your elder to Embrace. Normally this is the Prince, but Giovanni are strictly discouraged from being Princes. They get to do things internally, instead; their own elders decide who gets Embraced.

Another is the Tradition of Accounting. A sire is responsible for the actions of their childe. A childe cannot be responsible for anything. Under vampire law they're basically not a person yet. So even if Alessandra asked for it, manipulated Bruno into Embracing her, he should know better than to say yes.

So Bruno has annoyed the Camarilla as well, by breaking their rules and threatening the security of the Promise.

Bruno is probably going to be punished by someone. It might be the Giovanni, internally, or they might turn him over to the Camarilla and say "this one broke the law, and it's your law: what do you want done with him?"

Alessandra might be killed by the Camarilla – she's not really a person yet, she's a mistake – so the Giovanni will probably deal with it themselves. They're likely to make the vampire who was supposed to Embrace her Blood Bond her instead, or maybe she'll be passed to an elder because nobody else can be trusted.

All that's from the Revised Edition of Clanbook Giovanni. In V5, after the Family Reunion, things are a bit different.

The Giovanni aren't the boss of everyone any more, and the other families are more free to Embrace internally, and local domain law matters more. That said, it's only been a few years, and vampires are slow to adapt.

We don't know exactly when the Reunion happened (it's deliberately vague so Storytellers can do what's best for their game), BUT I think we can use the date of Revised Edition ending as a cutoff point. If Alessandra was Embraced before 2005, the rules above would have been followed.

Giovanni had a headache. A nasty one, too; the copious amounts of painkillers he'd taken in the past hour not even affecting it.

Whether it was simply the stress of the situation or the lights and shit in the recent conflict, it didn't matter.

They were safe. For now.

Cigarette in hand, Giovanni was slumped forward, resting his arms across his knees.

He was, frankly, tired of this bullshit, and it showed in his expression.

He sighed, sitting back in the chair; in his other hand was a glass of some sort of whiskey. He didn't know what it was, only that it was alcohol that probably shouldn't be mixed with his painkillers.

"Look," he said, with a certain hoarseness he wasn't proud of. He frowned down at the glass, and downed the rest of the drink, before sitting it aside, staring at Rook with a heavy, empty stare.

"This is your business. And I respect that. I don't get involved in the occult. I don't want to get involved in the occult." There was a certain aggravated reluctance in his words that implied that he felt he didn't have a choice in the matter.

He glanced at the glass for a moment, before returning his gaze to her.

"But I've been caught in the crossfire. Which now makes it the family's business."

He already had to to answer and very politely decline to speak with a few of the neighboring bosses.

He straightened up in the seat with a grimace.

"...and unless you want every mobster from here to New York jumping into this goddamn conflict, I would strongly recommend explaining to me what's going on and letting me help you end it."

Oh boy, sure can. I should preface this by saying that I see Giovanni as an absolute manwhore with commitment issues, so technically all these ships can coexist:

- Giovanni/Ariana

Two bad bitches all around, Gio respects her a whole lot as they are on the same wavelength in most aspects (hc them as Silver's parents. Both regret it)

- Giovanni/Proton

Proton is a determined and feisty kitten who strives for Gio's approval. Unfortunately for his fangirl army Proton's into older men

- Giovanni/Petrel

Gio's weed soking gf and a menace to society. Gio highly appreciates the absolute agent of chaos that Petrel can be

- Giovanni/Archer

I mean, have you seen the guy? He is obsessed. Archer's his boss' loyal dog, Giovanni's the only reason he wakes up in the morning. Will kill and die for him and Gio would have nothing less

- Giovanni/Ghetsis

They hate each other, they want each other. While there's respect and admiration, both have egos the size of the sun, so it's a constant competition for dominance (in multiple ways). They will bite

Go way back, just two old cats. Nanu will do bare minimum to protect Alola from Rocket's shenanigans, yet won't rat Giovanni out to police while he absolutely should. Have a soft spot for each other

Prison of Plastic

Hey so I just finished reading/listening to Prison of Plastic, Epithet Erased’s book continuation, and my heart! Is full! My soul! Is nourished! And there is something spoilery! I have to scream about! Under the cut!

OKaY, so. I haven't seen Anime Campaign and I have no intention to, I wanna experience this story as it releases. BUT. Naven is absolutely 100% the secret final boss, right? They could be doing the whole "You thought the obvious twist villain was a villain, but there's a twist to this twist! Ooo~ooo~oo~~" but for now I'm operating on the assumption that he is and like. Fuck dude, he was so MAD.

In his little (hah, fairy) speech to Molly about talking to brick walls? That right there, is a normal person in a world with superpowers. Silly superpowers, but still, this story is very clear about how dangerous those powers are. This is a speech from someone who has Tried to talk it out, to have Mundie voices heard. He has tried to claw his way up, to build a respectable business run by, employing and catering to Mundies, to shove it in their dumb superpowered faces that normal people are still capable people.

And he is tired of being put down.

Tired enough to swing the wrecking ball through society, to tear down Epithets and everything they stand for. Think about it! Even if he is actually that nice guy we see, think about all the bullshit Epithets can cause. Think about the 17-year-old, so traumatized and scared of herself that she threw a tantrum so hard it took up his entire evening and nearly seriously injured 3 different people! (She threw Molly down a dumbwaiter. She nearly toppled literal tons of cake on him. She DISAPPEARED Rick's HEART!) Sure, it was an evening he had set aside for a speech class, but three hours late to finish it? He's a CEO of a multinational conglomerate. How many cross-timezone meetings did they have to reschedule? The fact that he takes the time out to make sure to urge Lorelai to check the message from Giovanni, even though no-one can see him and it doesn't seem to further any goal for recruiting Lorelai for his terrorist org besides making her feel better, makes me thing there's some sincerity to him. But that makes it all the juicier!

Makes me think of the line where Gio's spouting about people who think they're good but still do bad stuff! Makes me think about how Naven, snarky little pixie who's been playing along with Gio's rambles in any other way suddenly stops speaking at that point and doesn't come back in until after. (And maybe that's just for the flow of the scene but I can just imagine him floating in the background with suddenly flinty eyes while no-one's looking)

Makes me think of the little girl, the little girl he has implied he would kidnap (from what Molly's flashbacks said anyway) if it weren't for the laws holding him back, who crumbles under the weight of the world, of her family's business expenses. Yes, maybe Molly is right, maybe absolutely no-one knows what they're doing. But it is a human instinct to shield the children from the horrors of reality, to give them some small amount of time where they can be carefree. A shitty father, a bratty sister, and Epithets took that away from Molly.

Maybe Naven is just salty at Epithet users for looking down on him for being Mundie. Maybe he thinks he'll be doing the world a service, bringing it back to normal. Maybe he just thinks that these things are dangerous, and should be... Regulated in some way.

Maybe he's right? Even to people who do have these powers. People like Lorelai, who are scared of their own abilities. Or people like Mera, actively harmed by their Epithets. Or the whole IDEA of Ocean Country citizens being farmed for EXP. Damn, the idea of Down With Epithet Society makes a whole lotta sense.

And guys who make you think "Huh, that makes sense." are the most dangerous of all.

I can't bring more Missa fun fact for a while because I'm about to start exams, so I thought of something easier.

Today, I bring you all... a list of Missa's characters.

Missa: Clearly, he's the main "character", he's actually just himself, the protagonist, the content creator, the crazy greñudo that breaks everything he touches and is a living hazard for himself.

Chef Missancio: The best chef in existence, he had his own space in Missa's channel, you can see him if you look for "cocinando con el chef/chefini Missancio".

Billy: A cholo, I don't know if there's a word in English for cholo... basically a criminal pffff, El Billy is a mad robber that often appears in his channel to show us how to make graffiti, steal, threaten people, etc; as a fun fact, we the Missaurios have a second name, Billy, so we share name with this character (tocayos jajaja).

Rob Boss: A professional painter that is often dubbed in Spanish, we don't know why, his first language is Spanish.

Mago Brujo: This guy was born to justify Missa suddenly getting braces, but he continued making appearances in Missa's channel where he shows us his magic, Missa hates el Mago Brujo.

Missa policía: A cop, an idiot one at that, he once shot Missa and the evil Missa clone (he also broke in Missa's house for that without a justification).

Ivan Ivanovish Ivanovsky: Russian Missa that once took over the video for 2 minutes (it was an excuse because Missa's hair was a mess and he found a Russian hat).

Hombre Fishman: When Missa drinks water or bites fish he becomes el Hombre Fishman... and that's it, he's a fish and a man.

Longaniza Naranja: A professional boxer, often calls Missa weak.

Sir Misso: A medieval knight born from a Wikihow tutorial on how to be a knight. He's a knight from the square table and fights agsint dragons to save princesses.

Missanta Claus: If you didn't receive gifts last Christmas, it's his fault.

Missa Giovanni: The bad guy in a Pokemon sketch made by QuéParió (thank you @akai-nezumi ), he's so cool.

McKenzie: Every sport in the world? He's mastered it, but he specially loves tennis and pilates.

Stacy: A teenage girl born from the section of Missa's channel in which he analyzes magazines for teenagers.

Honestly, in my opinion… They are two lovable idiots that failed science class, to be honest 🤣🤣🤣 I believe they really wanted to change the world for the better, despite their ridiculous expectations for how said plans would work out.

Maxie believed that by using Groudon, he could make more landmass for humans to thrive. I don’t believe he intended for anyone to get hurt in the process. But yeah, he fucked up.

Archie, on the other hand.. his plans were a bit more crazy. He believed by expanding the oceans with Kyogre, Pokemon across the planet would be able to live more freely, but didn’t quite think about Pokemon living on land. Again, he didn’t intend for anyone to get hurt, but he also fucked up 😅

In conclusion, these two are far different from other team bosses like Giovanni, Cyrus, and… ugh.. Ghetsis. Not to mention that they’re so gay for each other! They squabble like an old married couple, both in the games AND in the anime! They’re also total dad material. They’d swipe N away from Ghetsis in a heartbeat if they could. But yes, I don’t believe they’re really evil. They’re dumb. But we love them anyway! ❤️💙❤️💙

I have an idea

The whole mewtwo thing happens both Ariana and Giovanni's pokemon are injured but not dead house is burning down

Silver has run off after having his mind messed up and forgetting how his parents were great and he was loved

So people in masks come kill their pokemon amd take them to experiment on them

Same thing happens to Maxie in Hoenn and he's replaced but a man in a costume who is acting like Maxie because he's a public figure with a following

So fast forward 13 years

They end up in Alola and with the newfound abilities and changes in their body they break out

They don't know how to use it after that high stress situation

They end up in the desert Maxie finds a shiny trapinch he is convinced someone painted to look shiny so he takes her with her (her name is rocket to annoy Ariana) she binds almost instantly to him

They somehow get taken in by guzma and team skull (after ather)

They don't understand why or how until they see their reflection and they look like they are back in their early to barely mid 20s and they realize it's been 14 years they should be in their 50s

Nanu gets wind of the nee members from Guzma

Maxie has his arm and leg back there is clear stitch scars where these new limbs were attached

All three have old and new scars which Guzma assumes abuse and fighting so of course he takes them in

It's been a few weeks and they don't know what to do or how they could even get back to where they were
