I've been trying to improve my writing lately and have recently come to some very big realizations regarding characterization, the way I write interactions, pacing, and overall thematic coherency. Because of this I am, naturally, extremely embarrassed of many of my past (and current) works and am seriously considering orphaning or deleting them, as well as potentially abandoning my current Ao3 account.

It's a personal choice primarily stemming from a desire to limit the audience of my old works and potentially regain any audience I've alienated in the past with honestly pretty godawful writing thus far. I don't think most people on here follow me for my writing, but for, like, the three of you that do, would you rather I leave old stuff up, or delete it altogether?

I've had people grow annoyed over me deleting work in the past and would like to at least test the waters, though I honestly don't think anyone is so invested that this'll get any response??? Just like. Reply if you have a strong opinion ig lol, I'd rather not upset anyone if I can help it

So, here’s the thing. Pay attention to TMZ. ET, JJ, ENews, etc are all paid to push a certain narrative because that’s how it works. But the fact that TMZ continues to be subtly shady is very interesting to me. Two years in and it’s still this way.

“Chris confirms he got married” - TMZ. Why didn’t they just say TMZ confirms? Because…they can’t. Two kinda ceremonies and sometimes rings and alluding based on IG follows is not confirmation. He said it, yes. That’s why they can write he confirms. But they can’t confirm it was with her because he didn’t say it. And even if he walks around with her and they wear rings - lol, they still haven’t said they married each other. Do you see why TMZ has to refrain? It’s a little silly at this point because most ppl have come accept Occam’s razor, but it is Hollywood. What happens here stays here but also doesn’t but also can be anything and nothing at the same time.

TMZ knows this and they also know out of anyone the shit that goes down in Tinseltown. Don’t y’all find it odd they’ve been so reluctant on this whole SS - barely choosing to report and only doing it when they absolutely have to? I’m not saying that this means they don’t think the two got legally married, but I am saying they have reason to believe in reasonable doubt.

Look at TMZ’s website and IG. They’re basically deuxmoi most of the time. Reporting on Kanye’s wife wearing assless pants to an industry party??? They’re no better than daily mail. Except TMZ is founded by ex/lawyers if I’m not mistaken and they know how to cover all the loopholes. They can say with confidence Kanye and his wife because I think they found the wedding certificate. They can sit here and make posts about Timothee and Kylie and Travis and Taylor despite the very very obvious PR element because both sides have acknowledged each other publicly more than once, have been seen in public attending and pda-ing at industry events, and they’re honestly more entertaining to write about.

Chris on his own can be interesting and when something pertaining to him happens TMZ may report on it. But it’s painfully clear TMZ does not care about fish. I’m pretty sure this latest snub by them sort of confirms that so I can at least say that. I won’t say she’s blacklisted or anything because she’s clearly not. But I don’t believe she’s far from scraping the bottom of the barrel either. Oops

Again, TMZ is no better than the rest of them but they do know how to work their way around a legal loophole and make sure they cover their grimy asses. I’ll give them that.

- She’s become very greedy and capitalistic with the amount of merchandise she tries to sell to her fans.

- It’s becoming more well-known that she (allegedly) has threatened to have a few music journalists blacklisted if they don’t give her albums glowing reviews.

- The whole co2 emissions thing. And the IG account she reportedly threatened.

- She shamelessly allows her fans to bully, harass and threaten other people without ever saying a word.

- Dating Matty Healy and saying she was the happiest she’d ever been with him.

- The horrible message she has repeatedly stated saying that young women in the industry should reinvent themselves every few years to keep people interested. Feminism at its finest…

- Being real here, her music is not nearly as good as it used to be.

All in all, I just think she’s really changed rather than matured. She doesn’t seem to be about the music anymore but the fame and the accolades she can rack up. She also seems to think she’s invincible and can do whatever she wants and nobody can criticize her because AGAIN YOU MUST REMEMBER, she’s a woman.

Re: this Encanto ask. I'm not in the fandom either, but alot of those "hot takes" ended up on my dash, and I read them, trying to in good faith. Most of it was complaining about "white queers taking a movie about a Latine family and making it about themselves" when they headcanoned x sexuality or y gender for one of the characters. Even though 1) It's not only white queer people making these headcanons, and 2) Lots of people emphasized with the characters for one reason or another, regardless of ethnicity or background. I saw one of the people making posts about this say, "White gays stop making POC media about yourself challenge" or something along those lines. It was happening at the same time as a lot of discourse over whether or not Abuela should have been forgiven, which was also a lot of posts yelling at white people from what I remember (mainly how they can't understand the culture, and I stayed out of it, being mixed and getting "You're too white/not X enough" flashbacks from when I was growing up, and I ended up just blacklisting the encanto tag after that).

Tl;dr There was just a lot of gatekeeping over headcanons, because people from a different background can't see parts of themselves in a character ig??? I wasn't surprised to see the discourse, just disappointed.

Why is Reinochi called Reinochi? I've seen you mention there was like an official first draft/initial sketch thing somewhere on the internet where it said Tobi's name was originally going to be Inochi (the worst idea I've heard in a while, glad it didn't become true) but it didn't happen in the end so why does the ship name look like that?

Oks so the thing about the first draft of his name is not entirely true? Let me explain, Inochi was the placeholder name Mariyasu gave him in the character sheets for InT, the original Tobi name in the first manga draft was Unmei , those are two different things just wanted to point that out to leave any confusion out. Now the reason why I call it reinochi is pretty simple, I’ve been around long before the manga came out so yeh I saw how the first chapters got posted and all that I saw that manga start, and at the beginning Tobi didn’t have a name (as you can see his name is not mentioned in the first chapters he’s in) so most fans agreed his name was gonna be Inochi bc that’s what Mariyasu called him so that had to be the name right? And bc we reached that same conclusion we just called the ship “Reinochi”. Now, when the name Tobi was first shown (which mind you the first mention of that name wasn’t in the manga, it was in an Eve insta story) the discord server I was in was really conflicted about the name bc truth to be told we all collectively thought it was dumb and stupid, it took a while for it to grow on me but it did with time. And I’ll answer you well yeh that’s true but like idk I like how reinochi rolls like Rei ends with an i and Inochi starts with an i I mean that works and I like it! It reminds me of shuake, the ship of the persona 5 protagonist and Akechi, who despite having a canon name (two canon names actually) neither of them are part of the ship name

Ig with time people who followed me just went with also the fact that a big server had to use that name bc otherwise it would be impossible to live so ig that influence could have something to do with it but I’ve seen other people on Twitter use the other variations, actually I believe the one the jp fandom uses is Reitobi but don’t quote me on that

Okay, after braving the wilds of Threads, I was compelled to try out a couple of other social media apps/sites as well.

I will go ahead and say that, while Threads does indeed need a lot more work, and it does indeed keep track of far more of your information than a site should period . . . the facts remain that this stage is literally just its beta, and Ol' Zuck would have already been tracking that information on you through FB and IG. TBH, if you were already using IG, there's no real reason not to use Threads outside of if you just don't want to.

That scare of 'you can't delete Threads without deleting IG!' is not technically incorrect, but it leaves out the fact that Threads isn't actually an independent app at this stage (if it'll ever be) but an off-shoot of IG. Wanting to delete your Threads account without removing your IG would be like trying to remove your basement without taking apart your house.

Also, the gist of the claim that you can't delete ignores that you can deactivate -- it's effectively the same as deleting, but it leaves you the option to come back, and prevents people from being able to snatch your handle.

Also ALSO, you can very much uninstall the physical app from your device, it's just your account will remain yours no matter what.

I don't personally recommend Threads yet since the search function is basic, tags aren't a thing yet, you can't see the posts you've like, there's no explore page or DM function, and they're still working out glitches, but those are things the staff has reported that they're actively working to address. TBH, as far as a straight bird app clone goes, it's already better than, say, Spoutible.

Now, Spoutible is purporting to be trying to be the next Twitter, but after testing out the site and app, I'd say it's more like if Twitter and Facebook had a child, but it turned out the child was actually adopted and just happened to share a number of traits with its parent sites. Spoutible is not under Muskrat's X Corp umbrella nor Zuck's Meta umbrella; they're their own thing.

Their functionality isn't great, but they technically have everything a person would want from a social media app. My main gripes are that I can't change my location to say anything but the United States (I can't select anything but the US despite there being a dropdown list), things that should scroll DON'T scroll unless you finesse it in a very non-intuitive way, and the site itself just feels rather bland. Clean, but bland.

Also, it apparently isn't available for iOS yet? This last part isn't a gripe, just a statement of bemusement. With the type of posts I see on this site, you would think it would be filled with iOS users -- these people just give off that vibe. Do with that information what you will.

The one that really surprised me, though, was Cohost. Let me say this out of the gate -- it's in beta. It's unashamedly in beta, and they have what they're working on right on the side of their main page/your dashboard at all times, but . . . it's in beta the same way that AO3 is in beta.

Cohost is known for trying to be a Twitter alternative even though they loudly reject that claim, but it actually has more in common with Tumblr. The profile page is like Twitter, but the dashboard does posts and reblogs in exactly the same manner as Tumblr, their tagging and liking function is the same, the feed is exclusively chronological, you can save post drafts, and they filter content through a blacklist as well.

Color palletes are part of their paid features at the moment, but considering it has no ads and promises to remain that way, AND the only restriction against 18+ content is that it must be tagged and marked appropriately, that's a small compensation. They're still rolling out features like asks, and DMs aren't a thing yet, but I'm actually really hopeful for this one. It gives me the same energy as when AO3 was first becoming a thing.

It's also primarily filled with furries at the moment, but that's just a matter of fact and something to be taken as a pro or con depending on the individual.

With Cohost and Pillowfort marching steadily forward in their development, I actually feel really good about Tumblrina's being able to find a new and suitable home if Tumblr ever makes itself completely uninhabitable. Really the only downsides to moving over to these two sites right away is that there are still a number of features left that Tumblr does better or has that they don't, and that there's no telling exactly when these sites will be at the state that their staff teams consider officially out of beta.
