this interaction is actually so funny because fans have been allowed to believe they own artists just because they’re fans with the “you’d be nothing without us” argument for so many years and they’ve just gotten more and more toxic, and then some deranged swiftie tries to pull that on a black woman and gets shut down IMMEDIATELY. “nobody forced you” is absolutely right. no one is forcing people to support artists. it’s a choice you’re making as a consumer. you paid for music and you got music. that’s where the transaction ends.

okay this is hopefull the last meta i will ever make

i think the reason the ending was the way that it was, is because cctommy had some sort of disconnect between why he thought fans enjoyed his character versus why fans actually enjoy his character.

he saw people getting hyped about the angst, and the complex deep emotional character driven storyline and thought “oh! people want my character to suffer, i can give them that!” when in reality, i think what a lot of the fans of c!tommy really wanted was just  to a character lose over and over again, and suffer yes, but for all of that to be worth it in the end, because we would get to see him win.

in stories like the one cctommy was telling, angst is only satisfying in the end if the character being affected comes out on top, i guess somehow only one part of that was communitcated effectively by the audience and we ended up with this hours worth of whump culminating in a sympathetic view of an abuser.

yes, cctommy may have worked hard on it. its also perfectly fine to critisise things that people worked hard on, especially if thousands of people have invested their time into this for years.

content creators not understanding why it is people gravitate towards certain media is a tale as old as time, its not the first time and it wont be the last

incredibly hesitant to post this because i don’t want to discourage Blogging on the Blogging Website but i do think as a community right now we could stand to be a little more conscious of how we’re blogging and taking up space re: the forever situation; long ass intro to say i think some of us could afford to take a step back from pasting our every thought and question regarding the future of blogs into main tag and simply sitting quietly with ourselves. i know twitter very much has a culture of declaring support or disapproval publicly in fear of a call-out thread or a blocklist or losing followers and that is an incredibly unhealthy way to interact with social media, and i’d like to not bring it here

Coming to terms with possibly being in the aplatonic spectum while having been raised christian is proving itself a pretty interesting experience, because I think I'm already coming into this with a different definition of "love".

We had several sunday classes on this. On how "love" isn't about the gut feeling of affection or attraction, it isn't an instinct or the physiological need to be close to someone -- it's a decision you make. It's compassion, commitment, something you have to choose over and over above other feelings like selfishness, like envy, greed and even the satisfaction of being better (or "holier") than someone else. Love isn't simply feeling good around someone, it's setting aside your prejudices and helping those in need. It's being patient and willing to forgive someone if they genuinely regret it. It's feeding the hungry, clothing the naked, healing the sick, tending to the widow, taking in the stranger. And of course, this approach to love has been frequently misused to foster and hide all sorts of abuse in the christian community (the forgiveness part especially, and I've heard plenty of "I love you, but I don't like you" as a cute way to say "I can't fucking stand you"); but taken as it is, it did save me a lot of grief for not being able to naturally maintain friendships.

To me, Love is not and was never about "being fond of someone", it was always work. Good work, but work, something you do for the good of others and yourself. Charity is a type of love. Sharing stuff, having conversations, spending your time with someone because it makes them happy, doing chores in their stead, going grocery shopping with them, and letting them do the same. All that is a lot of work and requires so much effort and it tires me out so much, but it amounts to less suffering and more joy in the world, and I think that's the Love I want to practice.

these changes probably won’t fix anything sadly. they’re just punishing players for playing in ways the admins don’t want them to without actually rebalancing anything

here’s my suggestions of simple solutions to fix two of the main issues right now.

- the more a player is killed the less killing them is worth. means single players won’t be targeted over and over for points, and incentivizes going after more skilled players who die less rather than those struggling.

- the later a contract is turned in the less it’s worth. incentivizes turning them in as soon as they’re complete and rewards early players who are otherwise unable to contribute as much.
