What Once Was
We had
At one point
Been great lovers:
The shine of your skin,
Glistening against mine.
Your rough edges
And my softness,
Perfectly combined.
The memories you left as scars
Forever embedded in me.
But then I had to leave,
Pick-up and restart.
Mend the wounds I had caused.
Put you away
Like a hidden secret,
And forget you
Until I could not.
How I long to pick you back up,
And run the edge of your blade
Against my skin.
How I long again,
To watch your silver streak
Against my tan
And with an elegant stroke
Create a crimson picture of hope.

An Evening with the Water
The stillness of the sea,
As she watches from the shore
Mesmerized in it's beauty;
In it's emptiness and fullness
All in the same.
Small gusts of wind
She feels on her face,
Teasing her of what's yet to come:
The beginning of a eerie evening with the waves.
Slow rocking of water,
Turning into gentle waves
Creeping
To the shore.
A crack of lightning
And a boom of thunder,
As the sea begins to shake.
Drops of water
Glistening down her face
And waves climbing higher,
Reaching to feel the strikes of lightening
As the thunder urges them forward
And the rain drops clap down on the ground
Cheering.
A huge wave
Towering above her
And just like that
Crashes before her.
The errant tide,
Denying her of a serene escape.

It's like trying to catch a breath,
while you're in the middle of choking.
It's like trying to get back control,
as your car skids in the snow.
It's like trying to run in your dreams,
and getting absolutely nowhere.
It's like the comforting eeriness of peace,
after shutting out the loud noises.
That's what it feels to miss someone,
you don't even know you're missing;
And hoping they still miss you too.

Guilt
It’s a million shattered pieces
Of a hope you once had.
Guilt,
Is a monster of a feeling
Which looms over you
Like a puppeteer
Dangling you from his threads.
He claws his way down your throat
And into your chest
Where he carves out a hole
And burrows itself within.
Every moment when you think he has left
He peaks out and sneers
A painful grimace
And thorny kisses.

Before I Went Blind
It really is blissful when I think about it now, what I saw before the black was but a glimpse of you:
Your perfectly pale skin,
Highlighting your face
with a sliver of facial hair.
Eyes which become the moon
when i spend night times with you,
and a smile with lines of happiness at each end
which end with periods on your cheeks.
It was seeing this as my fingers trailed across your jawbone that my eyes went blind and my heart shut itself off to every other man out there.

Tell me that you love me
And that you’ll be with me forever.
Hold out your hand and take mine
and walk us down the streets together.
Stop me at the corner of a block
and kiss me;
make me feel loved.
Say you’ll always chase me
even after we’ve broken up.
And if none of this is true,
just lie to me.

The Truth
The truth is
it’s sad how things change.
One minute you'l be happy and smiling
with the cutest guy ontop of you
and the next,
you’re sleeping alone at 5 pm.
And it truly sucks balls
how depression drains you dry
and you try to smile through it all
all the while not noticing
how depressed the guy ontop of you was.

Hold him gently in your hands.
He has been cracked enough
as it is,
and his heart is more
shattered than he lets

Existential Crisic
You can ignore me ,
Pretend you dont know me ,
Act like you dont care.
You can distract yourself,
Get as drunk as you want,
Have fifty other friends to help.
You can sleep your days away
And work your nights away
And eat the pain away.
You can shop till you drop,
Until your mood starts to fly,
You can even go and get high.
You can party,
And dance to bursting music,
Or distract yourself with a movie or porn
But I'll still exist
And hope that I do to you too.

Day Five
Today I realized that life goes on. I realized that without water, plants will live on to become cacti and without food lizards will eat their own tails. Life goes on. It goes on after someone has died and after someone has been born. But what if when someones heart has been torn? I imagine it doesn't go one much longer after that. I imagine one clutching their chest straddling the line between life and death in a desperate attempt to find a new path. I realized that through all this those who do care about you the most are just saying that because they know no one cares about you at all. I realized that the words "I love you" are a fantastical words that never have meaning no matter if its said by a boyfriend of a week or a husband of fifty years because either way you're left alone and they're happier wherever they are probably not giving a single second of their day to even think one little bit about you.
