since instagram added the pronouns feature today i have some Things To Say to cis people:

adding your pronouns to your bio can be a great show of solidarity and support for trans and nb people! it normalizes pronouns being there and makes it feel more safe for us to add them to ours.

BUT.

demanding everyone to add pronouns to their bio and calling people without pronouns in their bio transphobic IS TRANSPHOBIC. lots of trans and nb people aren’t in a place where they’re safe to put their pronouns in their bios, aren’t comfortable enough to, or just don’t want to. and calling them transphobic or a traitor to their community or whatever else your pea-sized brain comes up with shows your lack of education on the issue and the transphobia you don’t want to address.
