You know, the information about Ray-sylvay is entertaining and enlightening (and unfortunately very sad in the context of this terrible act against women), but basically about Ares it was always about the context of comparing him and the rest of the male component of the Olympic Pantheon, and the emphasis was precisely on comparison.(Minimum in my case, I won’t talk about other opinions), the severity of the crime will always be just that, gravity, especially in the manifestation of such a phenomenon as infinitely terrible and infinitely beautiful-unattainable pagan deities. In these myths, they are rarely truly good, and against the backdrop of this human dream of permissiveness (of the gods, but always the dream of man), Ares still remains the one who shows a semblance of discipline of restraint. Any source of myth and the myth itself requires comprehension of the images, then the real message of all the metaphors hidden there will become clear.
No offense to the author of the post from that repost - he did a lot of educational work. I just want to remind you that any texts are not just naked texts, but the idea of thought and time hidden in them
I agree with you!
Ares may have been more discreet and disciplined on that matter in comparison with the other gods, but again it's the source you trust, and there are many of them in almost every myth!
Also, the thing about comparing one god to another isn't always a nice thing to do, because gods had their own natures and personalities, but unfortunately it has become one of easiest ways to bring out the good and the bad sides of their perplexed personalities.
Of course every myth wants to convey a message, and most of the times those messages require time end effort to be acquired, but in the end, unfortunately nobody does it!
The author who provided that information did a wonderful job, and I wanna tell you that I am gonna take my time reading that! Not everything one-sided is acceptable!

Is there a myth about Ares that you don't like?
Yes, there is!
The Myth where Zeus tells him that he is the most hateful god...
Well, from my point of view, Athena asking for Zeus' permission to hurt Ares is so so cruel! And Zeus agreeing to this is even more unacceptable! Like, how can you agree for your child to lethaly hurt your other child? And after that Zeus had the audacity to say that to Ares' face? Really? That's pure hypocrisy!
Ares may have been bloodthirsty and all, but plotting against him like that, his own father is unacceptable! And then blaming it to Hera, saying that "You got that from your mother" (metaphorically) is way worse.
But in the end, Zeus says that he cannot see his children in pain and he orders Paion to cure Ares. To be honest with you, I don't know how to feel about it, does Zeus care or not? If you ask me maybe he does, maybe he doesn't. What really matters is that he behaved awfully towards his child!

Hi! I would like to know your opinion about this post Since I think they also make unproven assumptions while pointing out people who make positive assumptions about ares 🤔
https://www.tumblr.com/theoihalioistuff/749062229235826688/ares-is-not-the-protector-of-women-in-greek?source=share
Well, I have seen this post before and I really don't need to say anything.
Everyone can express their own opinions the way they like, but not unfounded.
Well, about Ares raping women, I was informed too that there are mentions of Ares doing so by greek philosophers. And again, many myths have many retellings, and we can't really know what is true or not! We can never be sure!
You can check it on my last reblog, where I explain my point of view on that matter clearly!
Thanks for the ask, my inbox is always open! 📩📬

About the Rhea Silvia thing: The rape version has survived in Ovid's "Fasti", and Plutarch's "Greek and Roman Parallel Stories". I'm sure there are more, but my point is that, this story was well known and also written among the Greeks, the first one to publish was also a Greek, according to the Plutarch in his "Life of Romulus". So it's not a part of just the Roman mythology and the "Mars did this not Ares" rebuttal is pointless. Even the website you say you trust lists Rhea-Silvia under Ares' page of lovers, because no one who actually studies myths would exclude the accounts by Roman authors while discussing Greek mythology. One cannot just divorce Greek and Roman mythology (emphasis on mythology, I'm not talking about the cults and worship) like that - but that can be a whole another discussion so I'm not gonna expand on that unless you want to.
Sorry for taking so long to reply! You can find an answer to your question on my previous reblog! And of course I do not divorce Greek and Roman mythology! That would be stupid of me to do!
For anything else my inbox is always open!

Thanks for the elaborate explanation! From what I see, knowledge never ends!
I am gonna repost this on my blog, and I also wanna add something for those who are referring to misinformation. I DO NOT HAVE THE INTENTION TO MISINFORM PEOPLE! Whenever I get an ask about a certain matter, I always check my sources first and then I reply to you. I do not include the sources in my answers because I don't want them to be lengthy and tiring for you to read. But you can always ask for them if tou want to.
Also, I am not a god! Maybe I am not a good searcher either for not noticing some articles, but I really don't have the intention to spread lies, I do not win anything from it, neither do you! I have received messages where they tell me to stop lying about Ares not raping any woman, but when I ask about the source they go silent!
Apparently there are many mentions of some myths, and more importantly I don't know all of them, which is logical, I am not a machine!
So if you wanna say another opinion from what I have already expressed then I will be happy to hear it, but negativity is unacceptable to me! Say whatever you want to say but prove it!
And about Roman mythology I don't really have anything to say, I am not discarding it of course, but most of the myths are the same and I prefer more the Greek mythology, me being Greek.
I came across some old post of yours and wanted to say that the story of Rhea Silvia/Ilia being raped by Ares is not just Roman. Plutarch has written: "But the story which has the widest credence and the greatest number of vouchers was first published among the Greeks, in its principal details, by Diocles of Peparethus, and Fabius Pictor follows him in most points."
So we really should stop saying her story doesn't count as a Greek myth and accept that there is a myth where Ares rapes (but there are non r@pey versions too).
Thank you for this information, Ares fans I want to personally fight you hand-to-hand combat for not informing me of this information. EVEN THE MOOTS. I was misled. I ARGUED THIS ON REDDIT!!! REDDIT! I like actually cant believe this my heart dropped in my chest bro 😭
UPDATE: Apprently thats not true! https://www.tumblr.com/olympushit/747839630039285760/just-wanted-to-let-you-know-the-story-of-rhea?source=share

Fundraiser for University's Drag Show
This...is going to be one of the rare times that I go talking about my personal life, but I feel like it is necessary for what I am trying to accomplish. So, I am a member of Seattle University's Triangle Club (Seattle U LGBTQ+ Club (@su_triangleclub)), a student-led LGBTQ+ organization, and on May 21, we are hosting our 18th annual drag show. But lately, our donation requests and fundraising endeavors haven't been the best, especially since our members are new to organizing an event such as this. While our student government will fund half of our requested budget, we are still $500 short from our budget goal. So, I want to ask anyone scrolling by if you could spare a few dollars to help make up the difference. Even $5 can go towards paying for performer's parking passes. If you are unable to donate, please reblog this post.
Here is our Square donation link: Triangle Club Donation - Center for Student Involvement (square.site)

Hello, dear! Just wanted to let you know that censoring words like "rape" with "r@pe" isn't necessary on Tumblr like it is on the clock app AND it's actually kind of harmful bc of someone has the word "rape" blacklisted, any censored versions of it will get past their filters unless they manually add each one, which is much more likely to trigger someone in the meantime. I've seen people say that the word "feels gross" in the past, but that's sort of the point, y'know? Anyway thanks for sharing all the info you do! (Also this applies to other words too like suicide.)
Hello!
Well, I am aware of that and I have used the word "rape" before but once I received some criticism on that matter. Ever since I just censor words like "rape" or refer to it as "S.A" or "non-consensual". It's not that I have a problem expressing my thoughts like that, but many people feel like words like that shouldn't be used so freely, so I just try to respect it. There are times I forget and others I remember to do that, but I pretty much agree that words should be used freely, that's why they exist afterall!
And I absolutely love sharing AND RECEIVING knowledge in return! I love talking to people and interact on different topics! And anytime you wanna interact with me my inbox is always open! 📩📬😉

Just wanted to let you know the story of Rhea Silvia/Ilia being raped by Ares is not just Roman.
I literally went to search what you say dear, maybe it was something that slipped my mind, but now that I did I kinda understand what you say.
The Myth of Mars r@ping Rhea-Silvia or Ilia is mostly written by Roman writers, rather than Greek ones. Also, I searched a lot about it and the only mention that Ares was said to r@pe her was on modern art pieces, and found literally nothing. Also, I went to theoi.com, one of the only sources I trust, and I only found this:
Tumblr media
Tumblr media
I saw the word "seduced" and "Mars [ the Roman Ares]".
I haven't encountered that source you used, as it was not linked up there, but I also didn't find anything more enlightening on that matter.
I do not disagree that Mars r@ped Rhea-Silvia, but on the other hand I haven't read something tangible about Ares doing so.
Maybe I am missing something, so I kindly ask you to send me the link maybe?
I really wanna see that possibility, and I also don't want to leave your question unanswered or falsely answered!
I would appreciate the enlightenment, if it is easy for you! 😊😉

Everyone says Ares feels like protests and Anger
And he does but he also feels like running to your big brother for help,
Crying into the chest of a man who won’t hurt you,
Someone teaching you how to throw a punch, with no judgement
Someone picking you up when you fall and scrape your self up
He feels like tattoos of a woman with snakes for hair to remind yourself you can’t be broken
He feels like someone finally recognizing the anger and rage inside you with honor and acceptance instead of demanding peace and forgiveness
Yes girls and boys Ares is big and scary and in the spirit of rebellion but he’s also a safe place to run don’t forget that 💕
