TRU SPEAKS: When people deny God, that’s okay.
Anything I say is never to detour someone from their personal belief. I share because I believe in my own thoughts, opinions, and revelations; and because I do, I would hope others would too. I treat everyone with the same respect I desire. You are free to share, but I am also free to disregard. So if someone does not see things the way I do, than that’s okay. Not everyone is going to find the treasure I have or want it when I try to share it. Also, those that will seek and find gold, may not always find it in the same place I did or at the same time. That’s okay. There were two men beside Jesus on that cross, and even with God Himself before them, only one got the message, only one believed. That’s okay-- God gives it to me & my job is to give a bit of it back to Him by sharing with the people He calls His holy church. If no one accepts the offer, it doesn’t mean I didn’t do my job, it means one student in the class thinks a little differently from the way I know how to teach. That’s okay. God has them covered -- there will be another teacher someday, and if they still don’t get it, well they just may not like the subject. Still, the subject loves them so that’s okay.

Tru Speaks: On Releasing Zoo Animals
Having worked extensively in wildlife and zoo education, I can say this with absolute certainty. Most animals in American zoos have been born and raised there. They weren’t kidnapped. There’s no Mexican-cartel smuggling them in--trust me.
And for that very small percentage of animals that were not born in the zoo itself, they were either found at a point close to death and in desperate need of help or found in places they did not belong, like that gator in your swimming pool, or the cage with no food behind the circus tent. For these animals--they have grown accustomed to enclosed living. Even with keepers and handlers switching meal times to reduce habitual behaviors, designing explorative activities catered to individual strengths and abilities to encourage natural lifestyle, you just cannot shake the fact that the animal is used to being protected by humans, feed by humans, watched by humans.
You cannot take an animal that has never been to Africa and drop them there believing it’s what is best for them. That’s like taking me to Africa and dropping me there and saying, “This is where you belong. Go, be free!” Trust me, this California chick would not last one stink fart of a minuet in the wilderness or even the suburbs of Nigeria for that matter! It’s been a long time since my ancestors were taken from the motherland and put in chains; I’m not ok with the history of it all, but as it stands today, I’m not really looking for that “round-trip ticket” so to speak. We all want to help, sometimes we just need to stop and take a look at who’s really doing the hurting.
Support zoos because they support animals.

Share the Gospel | Share the Wealth
If you only have $1000 to your name and someone offers you part of their fortune 500 Company stock if you invest a 10th of it. What do you do?
I think some of you know what I'm getting at with this.
The $1000 is your life, measured in your time, your money, you talents. The 10% is of course your tithe to God. I guess you can think of the bible as the contract.
It's only right and completely understandable for some of you to say, "The deal sounds too good to be true. No way am I giving anything of what I have, especially when I only have $1000-- to someone who I don't even know is the real deal, and if he is why me? " or "Those are phony documents-- I'm not signing." & for these people, they will spend their $1000 how they like. Making themselves happy and comfortable until it's completely spent (until death)-- and there's nothing wrong with that choice. After all it is THEIR money, their choice . . . and it's an honest one, stemming from knowledge and past experience.
BUT there are those whom choose to take the deal, live on their $900 and invest in the Lord's promise of more money than they can even imagine . . . enough to last an eternity. That's THEIR choice, it's the choice of faith; you can't see it, the proof could be true or false but it's the choice to be patient and trusting & those are things not everybody can be, they themselves are gifts.
Now if someone comes up to you on behalf of the Founder and CEO of this company and offers the same deal, there may be even less that take it. If it comes as a letter in the mail, many more may toss it. If it's announced on a street corner for all to hear, it may become even more unbelievable. But it doesn't make it a lie does it? We'll all just have to wait and see and when we do get to that point of seeing (death) I pray none of you think back on your $1000 life and say "I blew it".
If no one's ever offered, I beg you to sign. Believe in your heart, confess from your mouth that Jesus is who the contract says he is-- that's your signature. AND don't forget to tithe, Time | Talents | Income. It's just a 10th but if you choose not to, it's understandable, just don't hate me for offering.

If you think of this world as a place simply intended for our happiness, you find it quite intolerable: think of it as a place for training and correction and it’s not so bad.

ENDANGERED ANIMAL OF THE WEEK: Sea Turtle
F O O D for thought I know I say this every week but seriously, this is my favorite animal. Sea turtles have been one of my biggest inspirations for “going green” ever since I was 16 and saw them sun bathing on Hawaii’s North Shore. Sea turtles, also referred to as “marine turtles,” have often been admired in film and television for their laid back attitudes and favorable beauty. Many people are also familiar with the impressive natural lifespan of the sea turtle, extending close to a hundred years! What most are not aware of however, are the threats these creatures face due to climate change, poaching for meat, skin, and shells, as well as ocean pollution.
As far as we know, there are seven subspecies of sea turtle and there has been for millions of years. In fact, sea turtles are some of the world most ancient species, having once swam with aquatic reptiles during the time of the dinosaurs! However, thanks to human consumerism, littering and exploitation has gotten the better of these wonderful animals. Today, all seven sub species-- having survived millions of years, are listed on the IUCN’s Red List as being Vulnerable, Endangered, or Critically Endangered (nearing extinction.)
Have you ever let go of balloons at a party or celebratory engagement? Well, what may be celebratory for man is actually putting many sea turtle lives endanger due to mistaken identity. Approximately 71% of the earth’s surface is ocean water and every time a balloon is released into the air it eventually pops under atmospheric pressure and has a 71% chance of landing in the ocean. Popped balloons drifting along the water tend to resemble a favorite food of these precious animals-- the jellyfish. Unknowingly, sea turtles devour these rubber made sea jelly impersonators and unable to digest the processed mass, eventually die of a seemingly full belly that produces no nutrients (i.e. starvation). So this one’s a no brainer . . .
Responsibility Call:
You can help this timeless species survive another millennium by finding alternative ways to celebrate without the release of balloons; such as candle light vigils, confetti made from recycled paper products, and awareness ribbons to promote your cause. Until next week--Thanks for reading! And as always, I encourage you to remember that
WE are responsible.

Tru Speaks:On Faith and Dinos
When I used to work for the Natural History Museum of Los Angeles, often times I would leave and maybe go to bible study or hang out with my Christian friends and want to tell them all the cool things I learned in my paleo studies (To be clear, I was not a member of the dinosaur institute there, just a educator with a daily hour of paid research time.) --they would all brush me off, change the subject, or roll their eyes. Sometimes I would go to work and want to share the awesome message I heard at last night’s service and my museum co-works would have a similar reaction. I understand why both responded the way they did, I just never understood why they had such a hard time listening? The way I saw it, the subject matter was the disagreement, and that’s fine-- we all have different views, but the bottom-line message was the same.
The Christian: "Just because you don't believe in Him, doesn't mean He doesn't exist." The Scientist: "Just because you don't believe in them, doesn't mean they never existed." The Christian who is a Scientist: "Exactly."

ENDANGERED ANIMAL OF THE WEEK: Asian Elephant
B I G by design
One of my favorite animals in all the world! Asian Elephants, like African Elephants-- are some of the most beautiful and intelligent creatures walking the Earth. Worshiped as Gods themselves and thought to bring good fortune in most Asian nations, it’s clear to see the present magnificence the Lord destined for these animals.
Weighing 200 pounds at birth and up to 8-12 thousand pounds in adulthood, Asian Elephants eclipse almost every land animal roaming God’s Green Earth. Coincidentally, they also nourish it. By obvious ingenious design, Asian Elephants are complete herbivores, feeding only on the plants they come across on their daily journeys. This of course means two things for an animal this size; 1: That’s one heap of veggies! --about 300 pounds daily! 2: In order to find enough food to eat, elephants spend up to 20 hours of each day walking around, searching for and eating local vegetation.
YES, but just how does eating the earth help to nourish it? Think of it this way-- what goes in, must come out. By walking through the dense jungles of Asia, these gentle giants provide 100% natural, seed-filled manure, helping to replenish rainforest, feed hungry primates, and bring life to dung beetles.
Unfortunately, though much idolatry has been placed upon these animals, it is idolatry that also brings them to endangerment. Some spend lifetimes in chains, being beaten and malnourished for the sake of making appropriate public appearances in annual festivals. Their Ivory is sold all over the world with the USA being a leader in black market trading.
Responsibility Call:
What is to be done for God’s big, beautiful creatures? Well, one way we can be responsible is to buy paper made of elephant dung. Sounds a bit gross, I know, but trust me, it’s made from tress the same way all other paper is, and it doesn’t stink one bit--plus how cool is to say you wrote an essay on complete crap :) .
In purchasing paper made from elephant poo, you put a monetary value on the elephants, thus bringing an income to struggling locals near elephant territory and providing an incentive for those locals to protect the species. You also help to save trees by not using conventional stationary.
You can buy your elephant dung paper today at www.poopoopaper.com for about $15 a stack.
See you next week and remember to be responsible!
