A Quick Change of Pace

This isn't what I usually do, but I'm procrastinating on my stats assignment so I decided to write a bit.

I am in no way a writer. This is just for fun. It's just a little writing prompt/prologue to a story. I'm probably never going to write a full story because I do not have that kind of attention span lol. But if any of you want to take this and write your own story on it, please feel free. It would be awesome if you tagged me too so that I can read it.

PROLOGUE

The only thing standing between me and my self induced death is the old man with a challenged fashion sense. 

“We need to go.” he states, with an air of authority that I decided to ignore for the sake of my own sanity. 

Need? 

“Kind sir, I am about to drown my lack of enthusiasm for life in my third energy drink of the day, please excuse me.”

I’m about to side step him when he interrupts, “What if I told you that I would pay off your student debt?”

I stop in my tracks and turn to look at him in disbelief. “You have enough money to pay off my student loans, but decide to dress like that?” Wow, I really am in a mood today. “Not that I’m complaining” I add, trying to tone down my attitude. 

“I thought you humans were supposed to be stubborn. You look like you’re on the verge of accepting my offer.”

“I thought you said we needed to go, yet you’re continuing to talk.” My mother would beat me if she heard me talking to an elderly man like this. 

He turns to walk away, his green cape bellowing. 

“Wait! So does the offer still stand? Will you pay off my student loans if I assassinate your king?”
