🦋 // Poem • Caption // 🦋 __________________________ Mute Witness © BV __________________________ 10:45pm She entered the room in a usual ambience of- melancholy; her pensiveness, shattering me! I prepared for the tempest; once again to be drenched, in the downpour, of her hefty tears. 11:30pm When the lights went dim, the night was off to sleep; she broke down, just how I estimated. Arms around me, her face hidden in my bosom; she spared no efforts to muffle the unruly sobs. 3:15am I wonder! What makes her so dejected; perhaps she was, looking for love in those frigid waters. A long wait, it was; watching her drift to sleep, breathing delicately; a soul dreading the night. 8:30am Woefully, I could not bestow upon her; either an embrace or a few soothing words, Alas! She dreamt of him holding her, Dousing the flames that was still, fondling her. She remembered how she was broken before, And how he came along and broke her more. If only! She wouldn't have taken his help, But it's in the past, now all she could to is to yelp. No, she can't undo the damage, But she had in her heart a special place for revenge, She no more wants to douse the flames within, She just wants him to be in a place, where she had been. She no more wants to ask for help, For she knows now, it would get her nowhere in life. She has now no regrets, letting him get close, For how else could she have taught herself no longer to lose? But what kept me going was the good old memories we made in the past, and the hopes of having a great future with you. But it took you no time to prove to me, that there would be no future for us and jokes on me, for being happy about the past; a past which meant the world to me, but was non-existent for you, all this time. The amusements of your past has never altered my love for you, until now; until you began to reminisce them a little too often. The anecdotes of the good old days of your life, you had before me, made me realise that; it was not the first time you were having an indelible past. It was not the first time, you went sightseeing and stood by a roadside tea-stall, sipping hot tea with someone. It was not the first time you were making happy memories. It was not the first time you went on a ride; long enough to enjoy both sunrise and sunset, with someone. While all my experiences with you, was unprecedented and unique for me; for you, it was just an ordinary day in your calendar. The truth hurt, but it was probably, a reminder for me to be in my limits; to always and forever remember, that— I was just someone you took pity on, and gave a lift. Poem. 🦋 Read Caption. _____________________ The Rain Was Ours ⛈️ ©BV _____________________ The first time, I waved at you; Raindrops running down my face- I could barely see you. I was, on a mission- To be the one you love. I remember you— looking up, Putting your peripheral vision to work, So I made the first move, just a wave, Maybe you thought, I was crazy. I'd be lying if I say, I wasn't scared, But, I'd already imagined a life with you. And then you were shocked, I guess, You looked up and down, back and forth, Whom is she waving to? You walked back in, leaving me alone, It was over before, it even began. But then came you, to prove me wrong. Years later; together- To laugh at that little embarrassment. When you were mine, the rain was ours. Both to- Get drenched after careful calculation, Or be it, those unexpected downpours, Somedays we rode miles in that rain, Somedays we went back to your place. Either, we play in the mud gleefully, Or we made love adding to the wetness. Remember the days we fought? Everytime- There'll be an unseasonal downpour, It amused us back then, how the- Rain disagrees with our disagreement. The last time I talked to you, Teardrops running down my face, I could barely see you. It's again a rainy day today, But there's no fight, there's no love. So I sit up, scribbling a poem- Wishing in futility, you'd be here to tell me; What does this rain mean. Sonnet. 🦋 Read Caption. ____________________ A Poet's Parting Gift ©BV ____________________ In the graveyard of elegies; a poet sat briskly scribbling. Rusty gates of the graveyard, while swinging shut— groaned. Turning to the verso of his journal, on that last blank page; he sat, inking. Gazing at the dark clouds, bearing a downpour, he sat a while— unperturbed. Back in his grave, he now lay peaceful, his life's work, left behind; hers to keep.
