nico di angelo is my roman empire so i have very strong feelings about this. i was thinking about this a few weeks ago and how INSANE it is that rick would just. Say Shit in earlier books. i love em to death but wtf do you mean the big 3 pact happened because hades’s kids were on the losing side of the war??????? of ww2???fucking pardon??????

n e way my headcanon to explain this in the books is that zeus had plenty of kids on both sides (he’s a whore /neg) and there wasn’t such a hard boundary but zeus picked out a few bad eggs among the children of hades who were involved and used that to scapegoat hades. my headcanon anyway. because he would.

it’s very interesting to me how rick kinda like….backtracks on his portrayal of certain gods from the early books. hades is the most notable one to me bc he was very vilified early on, then he was emotionally abusive to nico (NOT COOL 😠😠 LEAVE HIM ALONE!!!), but he started to develop more nuance through hoo and then the sun and the star totally showed him in a different light and idk it’s just really interesting. i love hades as a mythological figure and it’s made me happy to his book portrayal being sort of amended

and yeah back to the original point the ww2 explanation was CRAZY. that and the civil war being between the roman demigods and the greek demigods???? at least hazel got to have a “wait wtf” moment about that

I also really liked how they changed the lore of the Big Three Pact to not involve WWII anymore cuz when I was reading TLT again the whole story with WWII specifically just seemed to follow the narrative of “Hades kids bad” which obviously isn’t something that the later books show

omg omg one of my favorite examples of this is how we see more foreshadowing to stuff rick wouldn’t have had the foresight to include at the time of writing the lightning thief. the blackjack scene, the cloven council, etc, all stuff that’s relevant in the grand scheme of the series that he didn’t have fully planned out when he wrote the first book oh GODS i love this adaptation

Friendly reminder that book to TV adaptations should NOT be beat for beat replicas. They are different mediums, with different pacing rules and different ways of showing the story. If you want everything beat for beat, then read the books.

The most important part is staying loyal to the spirit of the characters and setting and maintaining the major plot points, and so far, I think the TV adaptation has done great on all fronts. Sure, some small details are different, but who cares? I’m sure every change from the source material was carefully thought out and done for a reason.

Another thing to consider is that Rick is involved, and could very well be taking this opportunity to improve the story he told 15ish years ago. I’m sure he’s grown a lot as a storyteller since then and has thought of things he could’ve done to make the story better. So maybe some of the changes are even intended to make it better, and aren’t just book to TV adaptation changes.

odalia blight’s strange transatlantic accent makes human aus really fucking funny to me because in my mind, she’s not british. she grew up in the american suburbs in the 80s and just. decided to develop a transatlantic accent. and amity’s just embarrassed that her estranged mother has a whole made up accent in the 21st century.

This shot in its entirety. Almost as if he’s bowing down while Caleb looks on coldly. Again–this is Philip’s own manifestation of Caleb, and yet this is the brother he sees. He sees him as steady and unyielding, unsympathetic.
