Chapter 1: A Winter Storm

"It’s cold." I say while shivering.

'White snow.'

"What is white?" I ask while looking around, "What is snow?" I ask as small cold balls fall on my glove and in my very long h/c hair.

'It is something that is not red.'

"So then, what is red?" I question, A man walks forward from the snow, "Are you lost, little girl?" He asks with a creepy smirk, the aura surrounding him being a dark purple.

'That's.'

"Want your blood." He states with blood lust in his eyes, and his hostile aura bursts out at me.

'Beasts in human form that drink the blood of living humans.'

I stumble backwards, falling into the snow. The man lunges at me, "Ahh, NO DON’T!" I shout and stumble backwards, landing on the snow.

'They are…'

A boy appears from the blizzard and kills the man before he reaches me, "A disgrace to all vampires." the boy states, licking the blood off his hand he used.

'Vampires...'

'You must never get close to a vampire.'

The boy walks forward and extends his hand, "Are you alright?" he asked sweetly.

'If you do…'

I reach for his hand and he pulls me to my feet and embraces me.

'This is Cross Academy, a famous private school where all the students live on campus in the dorms.'

There's a crowd of girls gathered in front of the gate to the moon dorms, so I run through to the front, "All right everyone step back, it's way past curfew for all you day class students just turn around and go back to your dorms.", I state with a bored expression.

"We can see what you're trying to do Cross-Senpai, it's so obvious, you just want to keep the night class students all to yourself!" a fan girl says, "Yeah you're just taking advantage of the fact that you're the headmaster's daughter!" another pitches in.

"That's not true, I'm a night class student and member of the disciplinary committee!" I show them my armband, they all start fangirling again, ignoring me in the process, "No!" I glare at them, causing them to back up a bit, the doors to the moon dorms start to open,"Damn it." I sigh, I turn to see all the girls lined up with a path made for the night class.

I step out the way to the right, the night class starts to gracefully walk through, "Good morning girls! I could hear you all loud and clear from the dorm, you're all looking quite cute today!" My classmate Aido-San yells to all his fans, "Oh look, it's Idol-Senpai, I mean Aido-Senpai!" A girl next to me says, "Hi!" He says as he continues waving to his fangirls.

"Hanabusa..." The boy behind him says in a warning, "Oh relax your so stiff Akatsuki" Aido-San responds, "Over here!" one of the fangirls yells, "Hello Kain-Senpai!" another girl shouts to gain Kain-San's attention.

Aido turned toward one of the girls and shot her with a finger gun "Bang~", the girl faints dramatically causing me to roll my eyes, "Oh I want to be shot too!" the girl behind me yells and knocks me down, almost knocking off my gold lip ring with a f/j set in it, which I never take off, to join the gathering of girls around Aido-San, "Shoot me too!" one of the girls amongst the crowd of girls that swarmed him says, as I readjust it, "Bang, bang, bang bang" says as he points in the swarm at different girls.

"Y/n-Chan, are you alright?" The boy who saved me ten years ago says while extending his hand to me once more.

'My first memory...'

'Is of that snowy day.'

"I'm fine, Kaname-Senpai" I state as I look at his hand in front of me, still in a half-daze from my flashback, "Thank you for all your help" he says sweetly as he retracts his hand after realizing that I'm not going to take it, I quickly stood up feeling the glares from his fangirls and my classmate Souen-San burning holes in me, "Just doing my job." I state plainly while dusting myself off.

"When you act reserved like this I feel lonely." he states with a little sadness in his voice, "It’s because you saved my life, there's no reason you should keep being nice to me when I haven't even repaid you." I state, "Don’t worry about it, that was so long ago." he says as he cups my cheek.

Suddenly Zero snatches Kaname-Senpai's wrist, pulling it from my face, "Zero!" I say in a bit of a warning, "Your class is starting soon Kuran-Tama, you should go now." He says not even paying attention to me and using the Tama honorific as a show of disrespect to Kaname-Senpai, "You're so scary, Mister disciplinary committee." he responds a little sarcastically, and Zero scoffs at him as Kaname-Senpai turns and starts to walk to the main building.

"Kuran-Senpai!" two of his fans come over to him before he even makes it a meter away from his spot, "Um, would you accept this?" They each hold out a gift to him, he barely glances at the gifts as he immediately accepts them, "Thank you."

"All of you get back to your dorms right now!" Zero shouts at the girls gawking at the night class, all the girls scream and run away to their dorms, "Everyday they’re out here causing a racket." Zero grumbles in a salty tone.

"You're late." I state sternly and glare at him, "You know about the other night class students right?" he asks to sidestep my comment, "Don’t try to change the topic, of course I know," I retort.

'They're completely different from us, and I'm aware of that.'

I watch Kaname-Senpai walk away as he continues heading to class.

"This blood tablet developed by the night class is very effective and accepted worldwide, you’re all not just the pride of this school but also of the new vampire generation." The sensai states to the class, "It’s not a big deal," Souen-San comments, "It was just a group project," Takuma-Senpai agrees.

"Who does Kiryu Zero think he is, grabbing dorm president Kuran-Senpai like that!?" Aido-san says, scribbling over a picture he drew of Zero, "What's this?" Souen-San asks, picking up Aido-San's notebook, "This looks like someone in love," she said, looking at it.

"As if, I'd destroy the disciplinary committee if I got a chance!" Aido shouts at her, "But that girl looks tasty."Shiki-San states behind me as he keeps his head on the table while looking in my direction and licks his lips, Kaname-Senpai hears this and closes his book.

"Shiki-San..." Takuma-Senpai looks up from his book, "Hmm?" Shiki raised his head to look at him, "Time to feed." Toya-San says, tossing two blood tablets in the air towards Shiki-San, he chomps the air, catching them in his mouth.

Takuma-Senpai closed his book and Kaname-Senpai stands from his seat to sit next to me, "You seem awfully interested in her, Kuran-Sama. She's just a human." Souen-San states, like I'm not in the room.

"I guess you could say that. She is very accident prone." Kaname states simply, Souen-San places the corner of Aido-San's notebook on his hand and leans on it, "Ow, ow, ow, Souen-San do you wish to die!" He pulls his hand out from under the book and slams it on the table, Souen-San ignores him.

"The clouds will cover the moon soon," Kaname-Senpai announced calmly, "Yes, it will be our time." Takuma-Senpai agrees, the lights go out and everyone's eyes glow red except mine, "The night is made for vampires." Kaname-Senpai comments as his eyes shine a brilliant bloody red.

'Creatures who hide in the darkness and are the source of legends…'

'Their existence is the secret we must protect.'

"I can't accept this, we are the disciplinary committee not bodyguards for celebrities!" Zero shouts at the headmaster after his patrol which ends at the same time my lunch starts, "I know it's hard doing this every night-" Headmaster Cross states but is cut off mid-sentence, "If you know that then maybe you should add more people to the disciplinary committee." Zero grumbles.

"I have Y/n, but she’s barely any help!" He states with a thumb pointing in my direction, "At least I'm not late all the time." I say, rolling my eyes and crossing my arms, "I'm not going too." the headmaster says in a serious tone.

"It's our job to keep their secret, that's why the academy is divided into two!" He states as his voice goes cheerful, "We can't let the day class students know that they're vampires that's why your job is so important, I can only trust you two." he continues, back in a serious tone.

"I know it's tiring and people hate you for it but…" he paused partway to change his voice again, "By giving this job to my dear son and strong daughter I relieve any guilt I have!"

Zero slams his fist in the center of the table causing the table to break in half, "I admit I owe you a lot for taking me in, but I don't remember agreeing to be your son!"

"Kiryu-Kun, you're such a stickler for details." Headmaster states in a pout, "Y/n, you're actually his daughter. Try to talk some sense into him." Zero states after he stands upright.

"Eh? I like being in the night class, and everyone from both the night classes and the day classes get along fine. I'm just fine being on the disciplinary committee, it's quite fun and it lets me get out of my dorm, and I get exercise plus some fresh air. If not for my role then I would be hauled away in my dorm eating snacks and playing video games all night except for during class, and I already sleep from dawn till the end of class for the day students." I state with a neutral expression, "Oh Y/n, you're such a big help! You make me so happy!" The headmaster says while crying tears of joy and reaches over the table to try and hug me, I step back out of his reach and he flops over the table like a sad puppy.

"You know I don't like physical contact, Headmaster." I state to him, "Call me dad." He states sadly and starts to cry again, "Headmas-, uh, Dad-" I start and he accidentally cuts me off, "The only one who truly understands my ideology is you, Y/n! I want the dark days where vampires and humans fight to end, I want the youth of both sides to open their hearts and minds, to build a bridge that closes the gap between the two races to bring eternal harmony and happiness!" He yells cheerfully.

"That's why I built this academy, and invited the students of the night class!" He continues while jumping back and forth, "I can't take this anymore." Zero states and leaves, causing the headmaster to stop mid-jump, "Zero!" I yell after him right as the door closes, "He left again, this is getting ridiculous." I state and turn back to the headmaster.

"Well, I understand how Kiryu-Kun feels. There's no denying that there are vampires that only wish to harm, but the same goes for humans." He states bitterly, "Well, Kaname-Senpai is different!" I state as I slam my hands on either side of the table, "There are vampires like Kaname-Senpai who believe in what's right, so Zero has no right assuming every vampire is bad!" I continue as the headmaster inspects his now fixed table, "Your idea will work, I'm sure of it!" I finish, "Y/n!" The headmaster says and goes to hug me again but I stock off without realizing he was.

"Again!" He says as he flops over the table once again, I open the window and stop with one foot on the sill, "Just leave it up to me, Headmaster! I state and start going out the window, "Itte Kamasu!" I announce as I jump off the outside ledge, "It's Dad!" He says while crying.

'I have no memories of anything before I was five years old.'

I land on my feet on the grass below, I start running towards the main building for my second quarter patrol.

'On that snowy night, Kaname-Senpai brought me to the house of his acquaintance, Headmaster Cross.'

'And without knowing anything about me, he took me in.'

'I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for Kaname-Senpai.'

'All that happened during that incident ten years ago, and marked the start of my life.'

I stop at the main building to catch my breath, leaning my back against a pillar holding up an outside ledge of a walkway outside the building.

'Yes…, Kaname-Senpai is my beginning.'

I touch my throat at the memory of the vampire he killed. I hear footsteps and raise my guard only to relax after I realize that they belong to Kaname-Senpai and Takuma-Senpai.

"Ah, Konichi. Thanks for patrolling the area." Takuma-Senpai says when he notices me, I grow flustered at the sight of Kaname-Senpai but I make sure not to show it.

I bow and quickly stock off to continue patrolling, "Y/n-Chan is interesting, isn't she?" Takuma-Senpai asks Kaname-Senpai, "There aren't any other girls like her type in the night class." He states.

"Ah…" Kaname-Senpai agrees and his eyes start to glow, "To someone used to the dark… She's a blinding sight." He states and starts walking again.

Takuma-Senpai continues to stand in place as he looks to the ground then back up to Kaname-Senpai's back, "Everyone likes living here, but don't forget…" he states and Kaname-Senpai pauses his steps, "Because of orders from you, a Pureblood, we are abiding by the rules of the humans... But just barely.", "I know that, Ichigo." Kaname-Senpai states then continues walking, "Hmm." Takuma-Senpai hums in acknowledgment.

During my patrol I feel myself getting more flustered by the second so I make a small detour to the water fountain, I arrive and stick my head in the stream flowing from the swan's mouth.

"He's different from me. The world he lives in, the things he sees…" I remind myself then pull my head out of the water. I sigh and return to my patrol, not noticing Zero sitting on the grass by a bush a couple yards away from the fountain. His breath is uneven and he slowly looks up and puts a hand on his face, covering one of his eyes in the process. A rush of blood lust races through his veins, he places a hand on his throat at the feeling then reaches into his uniform to retrieve his box of blood tablets. He drops them by accident as his breath becomes more labored, causing it to open and two fall out onto the grass next to the box.

I always visit my day class friend Yori-Chan after her class. I always get there a little early and see Zero napping at his desk in the back of the room.

"Kiryu-San, Kiryu-San!" The Sensei shouts to wake him up, he slowly lifts his head to look down at the teacher in the front of the classroom, "You're always sleeping in class, the disciplinary committee must be taxing…" He states, "But you still aren't allowed to sleep in class. Detention!" He yells as the bell rings.

I walk over to Zero as everyone starts to clear out, "That's rough Zero." I state as I hit his back causing him to glare up at me. I chuckle and make my way down to the third row and slide into my normal spot next to Yori, "You and Zero must have a hard time keeping up in class. You guys are always working during the night and sleeping during the day, you're like vampires." She comments, "Yori-Chan, you don't seriously think vampires are real." I asked her while hiding my panic behind a blank expression.

"Of course not." She says calmly while packing up her stuff and starts walking to the door, I stand up and start to follow her to the door noticing Zero is already gone, "Of course Zero is skipping out on detention again, I would too if I got detention." I say as I put my arms behind my head and catch up with Yori-Chan.

"I expected you to stay with him for detention, to get both your grades up." Yori-Chan states as we walk through the double doors, "Why would I stay with him? My grades are perfectly fine." I asked her as we continue walking, "You guys are friends." She states.

In the stables Zero is sleeping peacefully in the hay next to Lily-Chan, she bends down and nibbles his hair to wake him.

He stirs a little and opens his eyes, "What is it, Lily?" He asks the white horse,"Oh…" He says unhappily as he sees me standing in the stable doorway.

"Damn, do you know how hard it is to find you Zero?" I grumble at him with my hands on my hips, Zero starts to sit up from the hay, "As a member of the disciplinary committee, you're not supposed to skip out on detention!" I say with a raised voice, "But I honestly don't care about that, I care about you skipping out on duties! We're supposed to be at the gate already to hold back the fan girls, you're always late!" I state raising my voice further.

Lily-Chan gets angry and starts neighing at me and huffing, I glare at her not startled at all.

He turns to her and starts patting her leg, "Calm down, Lily. She's a very simple-minded girl, as you can see. She does not mean you any harm, she doesn't hurt animals, but she doesn't care about hurting humans." He states to calm her down, "Damn right I don't care about hurting humans, they can all suck this dick!" I state with my hands on my hips.

He stares at me wide-eyed for a few moments then starts cracking up laughing,"You came just to get me for detention, didn't you?" He asked after coming down from his laughing fit.

"Detention is over, but like I said I don't care about that." I state as he stands from the hay and makes his way over to me, "I came to get you for duties, just so I know you're not you're not skipping again. It's time for the switchover, remember?" I state while holding out his armband to him, "I know." He says as he snatches it from me while passing by.

'There are places in Zero's mind which are totally off limits.'

"Friends, huh?" I say to myself as I remember Yori-Chan's words, "When Zero is with you, he sleeps like a little child." I say to Lily-Chan as I slowly start walking towards her, she gets mad at me approaching and Huffs at me and starts screaming at me, "Okay okay, I get it Lily-Chan, I'll go now." I say to her as she starts brushing the hay with her back hoove, covering up Zero's pill box.

'Ever since that day.'

'I've come to wish for one thing.'

"Is Kuran-Tama doing well tonight?" Zero asks, snapping me out of my daze, "Eh?" I question him, not hearing what he said, "That hero of yours." He states to refer to what he said.

"I'm not only watching Kaname-Senpai, I'm making sure no one's on the roof." I lie to him to keep my cool, he rolls his eyes not believing a word I'm saying, "Everyone seems to be behaving before class, and so far I haven't seen any day class students. So it's a pretty peaceful night here at the Academy." I state as I look off the edge of the building.

"Do you really believe that?" Zero asks with a scoff, "Eh?" I question as I look back at him, "That things are going well between the day class and the night class." He finishes, "Of course I do, one hundred percent! It's my wish that vampires and humans can get along." I respond to him.

"The Headmaster believes that the ones in the night class agree with his pacifist views and that they are good vampires. But I don't believe it. Not a second." He says after he turns away from me, "Zero…" I say as I turn my body to fully look at him, "There is only one reason why I'm a guardian… And that is to find the most effective way to bring down those beasts in human form. I'm going to patrol elsewhere around the campus." He States as he walks to the edge and jumps onto the grass, "Well class is starting soon for me, so I'll go inside!" I shout out to him as he walks away.

'It's the same as that time…'

I have another flashback, and the Headmaster brings in Zero through the front door.

"This boy is Kiryu Zero-Kun, I'll be taking care of him from today. Y/n. This boy's family was killed by a bad vampire." Headmaster Cross says and Zero opens his eyes, hatred flows in of his aura at the word "vampire" causing his aura to turn purple, and I raise my guard as the hostel aura flows from him.

'I saw such hatred in his eyes and in his aura.'

'After four years together, he's opened up to me enough to joke with me, and I feel closer with him.'

'And yet…'

'I know…'

I look up in the window to see Souen-San walking by heading to class, her character heeding an example in my next thought.

'They're not all gentle vampires like Kaname-Senpai.'

'Even my parents, of whom I have no memory, could have easily been attacked by vampires.'

'And still…'

I'm broke out of my thoughts, and my walk to the nearest entrance, when I see two day class girls sitting on the grass in a clearing next to the main building, "Damn day class students, always prowling around…" I state to myself and put my hand on the side of the edge to push myself over it and land on a tree branch and jump up then fall down and grab it to land on the ground on both feet in front of the two girls, "You there! Tell me your names in class! It's against the rules to be wandering around at night!" I state as I show them my armband, "It's dangerous, go back to your dorms!"

"We came to take pictures of the night class students before their class starts." One girl says, "Can't we take a few?" The other girl says and tries to stand, "Itai…" She says when it hurts to stand, "Are you okay? Can you walk?" The first girl asks.

"Great, you're hurt. Are you bleeding?" I asked her quickly, she shows me her leg and I see blood on it, "Shit, hurry and go back to the dorm! " I shout urgently.

"...Eh?" The first girl questions, "What?!" The hurt girl says, "...Just hurry…!" I quickly say and start pushing them towards the dorms, I sense a presence so I quickly put my hand on my thigh and grab Artemis, "Who's there!" I shout as I extend my rod.

A hand grabs the end of Artemis to stop it from hitting him, "Oh scary… The Headmaster trains you well." Kain-San states as I look at him, "N-night class Akatsuki Kain-Senpai…! Hanabusa Aido-Senpai…!" The hurt girl fangirls,"No way…!" The other girl says as I put their hands together in fangirl harmony.

"Geez… We just came because we smelled blood." Aido-san states as he takes one finger and pushes Artemis away from Kain-San, Kain-San looks at his hand to inspect the damage from my rod then likes the wound, "You're so mean, Y/n-San… Really, we just came to see…" He says and his eyes flash red before he closes his eyes and sniffs the air, "Ah… You smell so nice." He states as he opens his eyes.

"Oh, what'll we do?!" The hurt girl says, "He said we smell nice!" Other girl fangirls, "Aido-san… If you lay a finger on the girls, you'll pay dearly…" I state and trail off at the end as he grabs the end of the Artemis rod and goes closer to me to touch my top hand, "...Did you fall, Y/n-San?" He asks, catching me off guard, "...Eh?" I question.

"What smells nice… Is your blood, Y/n-San." He states as he slowly slides his hand up mine to my wrist and puts pressure on my pressure point causing me to let go of Artemis rod with that hand and he brings the hand up for me to look at it, there's a scratch on the center.

'Damn it! When I jumped from that tree branch…'

I try to pull my hand away from him, "Aido-San!" I grumble when he doesn't let go, "Really…" He says as he pulls it closer to his face and his eyes gleam red, "It's very… tempting." He states as he reveals his fangs and draws a drop of blood from my hand with his left fang, "F-fangs?!" The girl who isn't hurt frets, "A vampire?!" The hurt girl joins her worries.

'Damn it!'

I dropped Artemis and try to get him to let go of my hand as he sinks his fangs into my hand, "Aido-san, don't! Damn it Aido-san!" I complain and he starts to raise his face from my hand and licks the blood off his lip, "I want more…" He States and the girls behind me faint, his other hand sneaks around my shoulders and moves the cuff of my shirt, "Can I take some from your neck?" He asks, "No, you can't!" I shout at him.

"Hanabusa…" Kain-San says to get his attention, "What is it, Akatsuki?" He asks him, "Kiryu-Kun is rapidly approaching, he's about twelve kilometers away." Kain-San warns him, "Damn Kiryu-Tama." Aido-san huff and places a hand over my mouth to keep be quiet and jumps into the top of a tree to hide, and Kain-San jumps into a different tree to hide.

'Oh…'

'The ring…'

I start to feel different, my senses sharpen, my aerial awareness increases and I sense Zero running through the forest about seven kilometers away, I look down at the ground and notice my lip ring from the right side of my bottom lip got knocked out when Aido-San put his hand on my mouth.

'It's been a long time since I've been awakened fully…'

'Finally you're free to use your powers that are your birthright…'

Zero arrives under us and notices the unconscious girls, he quickly looks around noticing that they're alone and picks them up to take them to the Headmasters office.

He leaves with the girls, and I feel my teeth starting to get sharper, and I feel jolts of energy flowing through my veins, My eyes turn e/p/c as I activate my e/p causing Aido-San to shoot out the tree and his back hits the tree in front of us, he slides down the trunk the rest of the way and lands on his butt, "Itai…" He says as he makes it to the ground.

"Hanabusa!" Kain-San shouts as he jumps down from the tree Aido-San hit, "What happened?" He asks him, "I-I don't know, Akatsuki." Aido-San responds with a shocked expression.

I hop down from the tall tree, like it's nothing, and land on both feet, "'Drinking blood on school grounds is strictly forbidden.'" I grumble as my eyes go back to e/c then turn blood red a few moments later, both vampire's eyes widen and they start to shake at the sound of my Pureblood voice.

They're both stuck there like they're frozen to the ground, I gracefully walk over to them and put a hand on both of their heads, '"I would punish you both, but you're not going to remember this anyways."' I state and erase their memories of the past minute, starting with when I jumped down from the tree, they fall asleep a moment after the process is completed and I take my hands off their heads as Kain-San hits the ground.

I turn around and walk over to my spot I was in when I found the girls, and I reached down to pick up my lip ring, and bring it up to my face and refasting it through my lip, my eyes turn back e/c and my senses dull. The energy that was coursing through my veins ceases, and my teeth go back to normal, I close my eyes and reopen them, I look around and see Aido-San and Kain-San sitting in front of a tree, asleep. I huff and chalk it up to, I beat them up, I noticed the girls are gone and remember that Zero took them to the Headmaster's office, "One less thing I have to worry about." I state to myself and head to class to retrieve Kaname-Senpai.

When I reach the class I apologize to the Sensei for being late and immediately go straight to Kaname-Senpai and tell him everything I remember, and take him to the perpetrators, when we arrive at where I left them they start to wake up.

"Thank you for your hard work, Y/n-Chan. I'll take these fools and we'll wait for the Headmaster's punishment." He states as he turns his head to me,"Kuran-Dojo…" Aido-San says as he realizes Kaname-Senpai is standing in front of him, "...Kain…" Kaname-Senpai says as he turns to Kain-San, "Huh?" He questions still in a bit of a daze, "Why didn't you stop Aido? You're just as guilty.", "Oh…" Kain-San says wearily.

"Now then. These two who fainted… They're already at the Headmaster's office, correct?" Kaname-Senpai asks me, "Yes, Zero took them there early when Aido-San was holding me captive in a tree." I respond, "Okay then. When I arrive at the Headmaster's office, I'll erase their memory of tonight." He tells me, "Understood. Thanks, Kaname-Senpai." I say, "I'm sorry he scared you… Y/n-Chan." He states as his eyes soften, "Actually the both didn't even startle me, let alone scare me. They were just bothersome." I state in response, "Still…" Kaname-Senpai says, "You should probably take them to the Headmaster's office as soon as possible, cuz I need to patch up my hand before I go to class." I state and he nods, he then grabs Aido-San by the back of his shirt and drags him to the Headmaster's office with Kain-San following closely behind them.

I make it to the Headmaster's building and take a quick shower to get the smell of blood off of me, while I'm drying my hair Zero walks in signaling the end of his patrol, meaning that it's lunch time for me.

"Hey! Can't you see that it's occupied?!" I shout at him, "If you have any complaints, blame the bath in the dorm which is closed at dusk." He states after turning to me then turning back forward, "The Headmaster's bath is the only one I can use." He states as he starts to take his shirt off.

"Don't undress in front of a girl." I grumble as I throw a tube of lotion at the back of his head, he stops as it makes contact with his neck, "You just thought, "Well, I don't consider you a girl," didn't you?" I question then turn back to the mirror as he drops his shirt, "Fine, then continue." I finish as I continue blow drying my hair.

"I heard that you were bleeding earlier, the smell of blood is gone." He says after sniffing the air around me and I look at him, "Oh, shut up. My hand has finally stopped bleeding." I state and turn back to look at my hand, "But… If it's according to the legends, I may've turned into a vampire." I say and don't see the look on Zero's face.

"I was attacked by a stray vampire ten years ago too… I guess my blood must be very tasty." I comment and don't hear Zero gasp as a wave of bloodlust rushes to him after looking at my neck, "I'll try to be more careful from now on, but you know how accident prone I am. I am a guardian who protects Cross Academy Day and Night, but I am clumsy as hell." I state and continue talking, "Although, it would be disgraceful if I kept letting them bite me." I finish and look at Zero right as he shuts the shower door.

I shrug and go back to drying my hair, unknowing of the mild panic attack he's having in the shower as he leans up against the wall, "Don't…" he whispers and bites his lip, causing his fang to pierce it and a drop of blood runs down his lip that he licks up before it reaches his chin, "...come any closer." He finishes his comment, with blood red eyes.

Aido-San drops a blood tablet into a wine glass full over water and watches it dissolve in it, "Suspended for ten days… But, Y/n-San's blood… was worth it." He states as it finishes dissolving, "Kuran-Dojo will get upset if he hears you saying that." Kain-San states to him, "Fine with me! Surviving on the blood tablets alone isn't good enough for me." Aido-San responds, "Her blood was irresistible… so I…" He starts and is cut off.

"Oi!" Kain-San tries to warn him at the last second, Kaname-Senpai walks in, "So you…?" He questions after he slaps him, "S-sorry." He states as Kaname-Senpai goes to walk up the stairs, "Weren't you asking for that?" Kain-San asks Aido-San after, "Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up. Shut up!" He responds embarrassed.

I think while I make my way to the night class dorms to go to my room, I don't see Kaname-Senpai looking at me through the window as I approach and he licks the blood of Aido-San off his finger, "Y/n."

Aight something i need to get off my mind anout season 2: am i the only one that thinks Sinedd and Rocket needed more time interacting together?? Cause like... Sinedd is the WHOLE REASON why rocket gets into netherball and has his corruption arc throughout the season and i feel that their relationship was kinda rushed?

Sinedd shows Rocket netherball because Harris told him to do it,and Rocket just...TRUSTS sinedd and follows him to a shady ass place even though their only interactions were 4 years prior when Sinedd basically insulted him lol...i get he was depressed because of his suspension but really now

Rocket gets to play netherball and gets his first taste of a corruption arc, and Sinedd is...mad that Rocket is winning??for some reason?? Wasn't that the entire POINT of bringing rocket to netherball? So he can WIN?? I thought Sinedd was only doing this cuz he thought he would be rewarded by Harris, so why is he mad that Rocket is winning when Sinedds whole job was MAKING SURE ROCKET WINS??

Rocket and Sinedd have some weird gay co-dependent relationship tension thing going on where i think both of them realise it's toxic but neither of them give a shit because they're each doing it for their own self gain. Ok i buy that

Rocket, out of nowhere, challenges Sinedd to a netherball match out of what seems to be pure hatred. And i do mean OUT OF NOWHERE, Sinedd didn't even fucking do anything if i remember correctly 💀 idk i just think rocket didn't have a really good reason for it,i get he was selfish and angry and aggressive but that doesn't mean he just has to randomly call out Sinedd like he despises him for some reason

Rocket and Sinedd have their netherball match, and this is where it actually gets violent. I don't know if you remember,but Sinedd WHACKED ROCKET IN THE FUCKING FACE!! i remember it clearly cause it caught me off guard lol. Then Sinedd slips on his ankle like a dumbass and is in pain and can't play in the match anymore. While rocket wasn't directly responsible for sinedds injury, he mocks him and humiliates him. He wins,i dunno what he fuckin got out of it,but he wins regardless

Sinedd continues operating the netherball systems even after he loses his smog post pirates match. Though there's not much he can do now other than netherball. He doesn't talk to rocket anymore, and imma be honest i found it kinda weird that sinedd never really seemed angry at rocket for the fractured ankle other than silent seething. I always thought he'd blame him more for the shadows loss against the pirates, or at least be angry he had to play like that. Cause i remind you, sinedd had to play against the pirates 2 days after he FRACTURED HIS ANKLE

Rocket stops playing netherball and leaves with his team and Tia. He gives Sinedd a smug grin and tells him to deal with the fight happening and just fucking leaves. Straight up abandons Sinedd who at this point has absolutely no one in his life (his coach abandoned him, rocket left and netherball is over. We don't know if he still hangs out with his team or not)

And that's just .... The end of their relationship, no mentions after or anything. Rocket doesn't even comment about Sinedd or the Shadows when they watch the Xenons vs Shadows match. Just makes a comment about Luur. I think this is kinda lame and underworked, since without sinedd, rocket would have never even known about netherball. Would he still have problems? Sure, but i think they would be a lot less intense. Sinedd is the whole catalyst for this seasons problems. They REALLY couldnt have cut something out? I don't really remember if s2 had lots of filler, but they seriously couldn't have cut SOMETHING? i dunno, making fun of Micro-Ice when they refuse to do anything interesting with his character anymore....or 20 year old Micro-Ices relationship with a 16 year old that never goes anywhere and drags on and on...or D'jok repeating his arc from season 1 ALL OVER AGAIN...or Yukis constant insecurities (it was just a bit much, they felt the need to hammer it in over and over)...or the constant discussion of Ahito's illness...or the writers pretending that Mark is an interesting character and giving him screentime when he never was.......i don't remember if the pirates had as time consuming of a subplot as they did in season 1, but I'm sure there was something in there that could be cut. Some of these were obviously more important than others but i can't think of good examples right now

Feel free to add on anything i forgot. Also, all of that got screentime and Mei didn't. I seriously can't remember a single important thing she did that season other than covering for Tia when she left. While Mei isn't my favorite character or SK, she's still supposed to be a main character!! Cmon guys you REALLY couldnt give her even a little bit of screen time ? I think it's the same problem as Micro-Ice, they already had their arcs in s1 so the writers couldn't come up with anything interesting to do with them so they're just reduced to the love interests of specific characters (i think D'jok also had this problem of already having his arc finished so they just ... repeated it and hoped no one would notice lmao) . Also rant in the tags as per usual

Speculation about Mizu's parents pt. 4

Going back to the story of the Ronin and the Bride

This is official concept art, I believe. Look at the blue eyes, then specifically look at the baby, and the blanket the baby is wrapped around her. That blanket is seen somewhere else.

It looks like the blanket baby Mizu had laying below her

It's also seen again in a flashback when Mizu is a child and also used as her belt throughout the show.

Remember when I said that the Ronin and Bride could also represent her parents. Using the connections with the films that influenced the show, as well as hints of foreshadowing, I believe Mizu's mother found out she was pregnant, probably tried to run away to raise Mizu in safety (like the Bride in Kill Bill), realized that finding safety for both her and Mizu might take more time than she thought, left Mizu in the care the maid, during that time her actual mother was found and killed by one of the white men like Fowler stated before she could ever reunite with Mizu.

I also have a hunch that Mizu's biological mother died the same night Mizu's childhood home went up in flames, and she was left to survive on the streets. It would make the scene where Mizu is a child swearing to her 'mother' that she'll avenge them. Of course, Mizu was referring to the maid, who later turned out to survive that night, but then her quest for vengance later shifted to the reason being of her existence as a 'monster'.

I also believe the blue eyes of the Bride from the puppet show when she comes back as an Onryo are supposed to represent Mizu's mother's eyes as well, and that she got her blue eyes from her mother. Like Yuki, Mizu could be a representation of her mother's need for vengance after death.

Why? Well, because, as I said earlier, she could have tried to run away and find the best opportunity to leave Japan unnoticed (like how Beatrix tried to run away with her unborn daughter), but eventually was found and killed. So, her rage lives on through Mizu because her mother was taken away from her, was stripped of the chance to raise her, to be there when she was scared, lonely, or sad, to see all her milestones, to let her know that she loves her, etc.

Mizu could be a representation of her mother's rage beyond the grave, and she doesn't even know it

When Fowler finds out Mizu is actually a woman, he knows exactly who she is. That she was raised in hiding, that she had a maid raise her, that there's a high bounty for her.

I don't think Fowler laughed at the fact that Mizu is a woman, I think he might have laughed because he finds the situation ironic. He knows that Mizu is out for vengance because she's mad about her existence; that a white man, who brought pain to many people with his three fellow white men, impregnated her Japanese mother, causing her to be born a 'monster', and costing her the ability to live a normal life.

Fowler found out Mizu wants all her potential white fathers dead before he even found out she's a woman. After finding out Mizu is a woman, a specific woman too, he laughs because maybe he knows none of the white men are her father because it's mother who was the European one, and she's going through all that trouble only for the white person responsible for her existence to already be dead.

So if that's the case, why didn't Fowler just tell her? Well, do you honestly think Mizu would believe him? If anything, she could have seen the potential reveal of her mother being the European as getting him, Skeffington, and Routley to dodge responsibility. Fowler is a shitty person, but he's not stupid. Mizu is also a bit hot-headed, she probably would have definitely killed him if he revealed something like that.

Fowler knows Mizu being mixed-raced is a big insecurity for her and has proven to her that she will do anything to kill the people responsible for it. Fowler not telling her, could possibly be for the reason of simply buying himself time because him telling her she won't find Routley and Skeffington without him gives him the chance to find away to escape when they arrive at the British Isles.

Now, there's the question of who could be Mizu's father. I'll explain in part 5 (I know this already long, but I'm almost done)

toro rosso reject to five time world champion, or, welcome to the meat grinder: a complete(ish) history of drivers maligned by the red bull family in f1

okay so with all the red bull propaganda floating around, i wanted to explain why that team in particular rubs me the wrong way in the most objective way that i can (i say most objective because i know it cannot be perfectly objective and also i do not want it to be. how we feel emotionally about things is important and i firmly reject any culture that insists that human suffering should take a backseat to pretty numbers). a lot of research went into this and the typing up of this post alone has taken me several days. i have striven for accuracy in my reporting of information, so please let me know if you spot anything incorrect or any typos surrounding dates/numbers.

i will also preface this by saying that no team in formula 1 is an emotionally healthy environment to be - fundamentally most motor racing shouldn’t be set up to have multiple driver teams (i will make an exception for series where they literally share or swap control of the car like endurance racing or extreme e). it doesn’t make sense and almost always ends badly. formula 1’s set up in this regard is the worst of the worst. i am also deeply critical of the entire concept of junior teams and driver academies, which, with a very small handful of exceptions, have been an unmitigated disaster and a breeding ground for psychological problems. this is across all teams that employ them, red bull, mercedes, mclaren and ferrari in particular. red bull operates the biggest machine in this regard, far eclipsing even mercedes, which creates a situation in which the problems of these systems play out on an industrial scale under their banner.

so let’s have a look in detail at the drivers that have succumbed to the red bull meat grinder, going all the way back to 2005. we'll do this mostly in bullet point form for my own sanity and i am going to give their ages at the time, because i wholeheartedly believe it is relevant, given that many of red bull's victims are very young drivers - all but four of them were under 25 when they raced for the red bull family in f1, and it is now widely understood that the human brain doesn't finish developing until after that age, leaving them particularly vulnerable to psychological and emotional strain. this is gonna be long, so buckle up.

a quick notice that we will only be covering individuals who have driven for red bull or toro rosso/alpha tauri in at least one f1 race, not any purely test or developmental drivers, anyone from exclusively from the feeder series or any other motorsports series. please bear in mind that there will be a whole host of other wronged individuals who exist in this category. we will be excluding david coulthard, mark webber, sebastian vettel, daniel ricciardo, max verstappen, sergio perez and yuki tsunoda as these drivers are either currently with red bull/alpha tauri, and therefore their story with them is not complete, or left/retired from them voluntarily, on (mostly) good terms which is not the norm. these individuals have been excluded as outliers. we will also not be talking about liam lawson as there is not enough information about his circumstances. we will also not be covering any unconfirmed rumours of stress-related alopecia afflicting multiple red bull family drivers.

content warning: some of this stuff is very upsetting and in many instances likely meets the definition of psychological/emotional abuse and workplace bullying. i will highlight which specific sections mention night terrors, eating disorders, suicidal behaviour, and the death of anthoine hubert, but please bear in mind that this entire document is varying degrees of unpleasant to harrowing.

a * indicates that driver holds at least one world championship in some form of motorsport series. ** indicates that they are an f1 race winner.

christian klien, red bull (2005-6), aged 22-23

klien was inherited by red bull from jaguar racing, which they bought out, whom he had raced for in his rookie season. it was a relatively unremarkable rookie season, though klien was noticed for his consistency in finishing, retiring just four times.

red bull replaced him after only three races with vitantonio liuzzi (this was because they had two drivers and only one seat, having signed both, - the other was occupied by veteran racer david coulthard - and couldn't decide which they wanted). they flip-flopped between the two drivers over the course of the '05 season.

despite this, klien scored points in two of his three races (the third being a dns with an electrical issue), and twice more over the season.

red bull subsequently bought out minardi, which they renamed toro rosso, to solve their three-driver problem and klien was confirmed for the red bull seat alongside coulthard for the '06 season.

klien qualified in the top 10 for the opening two races of the '06 season and scored points in bahrain. in malaysia he dnfed after colliding with kimi raikkonen. at this point he was viewed by red bull as failing to live up to the expectations of his much more experienced teammate (coulthard had been racing in f1 for twelve years at this point).

despite two further points finishes, mark webber (also more experienced that klien, racing for five years) was signed from williams for klien's seat in '07 before the end of the season and klien was sacked with three races to go, with reserve driver robert doornbos filling his seat.

klien declined a drive for red bull in the indycar series in the united states because he felt his formula 1 story wasn't yet over.

though he admits, he handled his sacking poorly, he has said in 2023: "there was so much going on behind [closed] doors that I was really, really frustrated with the situation and the way it [was] brought up to me, it wasn’t very nice."

he never raced in f1 again, though he was a reserve driver for honda, bmw sauber and hrt from 2007-10).

he went on to pivot to endurance racing, which he has had a long career in, continuing to present, and has written a monthly column for pitpass.com since 2012.

robert doornbos, red bull (2006), aged 26

doornbos originally raced in f1 for minardi alongside christijan albers in the '05 season.

when minardi was bought out by red bull to become toro rosso, neither driver retained their seat at the end of the '05 season. albers moved to spyker, whilst doornbos was left without a seat.

however, christian horner had been a previous team principal of doornbos in f3000 had been recently appointed sporting director of red bull and found doornbos a seat as red bull test/reserve driver.

he was promoted to the red bull second seat for the final three races of the '06 season following klien being dropped.

although he qualified in the top ten in his first race, he failed to bring home any points and was ultimately passed over for the '07 season in favour of mark webber.

doornbos has been quiet about his time at red bull.

he remained as red bull test driver for the '07 season, and raced in two seasons of champcar/indycar. he has been retired from racing since 2010.

vitantonio liuzzi, red bull (2005), toro rosso (2006-7), aged 25-27

we've covered much of liuzzi's story in covering klien's but here are a few extra details:

in the '06 season, liuzzi was given a seat in the newly created toro rosso team.

he scored the team's first points in an eighth place finish after a long battle with nico rosberg in a williams and david coulthard in a red bull (note that this is the standard that klien was failing to live up to in the same season).

liuzzi was confirmed for the '07 season, which went rather badly for him, including crashing into the "wall of champions" in Canada. liuzzi failed to score at all in the first half of the season and there was constant speculation that he and/or his teammate scott speed would be replaced by sebastian vettel and/or champcar champion sebastian bourdais.

after bourdais was announced to have been given the '08 drive in the mid-season, liuzzi's performances actually improved and in china, he overtook mark webber in the red bull to finish fifth.

liuzzi blames his sacking from toro rosso as a problem of too many people having the ear of didi mateschitz, red bull owner, particularly gerhard berger who owned a 50% stake. in 2023, he said: "actually, I stepped out of toro rosso because of berger. in 2007, for politics, he took me out of red bull. if not, i would have stayed there for a really long time. it was done in a bad way… it was really not a fair situation. it was a big shame." he has also been critical of the lack of clarity and constant changes of which criteria were used to judge the drivers' performances.

liuzzi went on to race for force india and hrt between 2008 and 2012, before moving to the superstars series, gt series and eventually formula e.

liuzzi has been retired from racing since 2017.

scott speed, toro rosso (2006-7), aged 23-4

scott speed was a divisive presence in f1, given that he routinely went on the verbal offensive with other drivers and his own team. much of this was attributed to a brash american attitude, though scott has later come out to say that he regrets his behaviour, which he says was a result of the stress he was under at the time.

speed drove for toro rosso in the '06 season, having been a test driver for red bull in '05 at the canadian grand prix. his early races went poorly, with a 13th place finish in bahrain and a retirement with a clutch failure in malaysia.

in the australian grand prix, it looked briefly like speed had scored his first points before he was given a twenty-five second penalty for overtaking under yellow flags, dropping him out of the points from ninth. he was also fined $5000 for using inappropriate language to david coulthard during a hearing with the FIA.

at the french grand prix, speed suffered back pain and breathing problems as a result of a friday practice accident, but raced regardless.

despite a terrible season in which he scored no points, and which saw wild speculation of his replacement, speed was signed again for the '07 season, despite klien not even being offered the demotion to toro rosso.

speed's '07 season was similarly disappointing, with two separate collisions with alexander wurz (who you might remember as current gdpa chair).

the european grand prix would be his last race with the team. it ended in him spinning off in the wet. there were unconfirmed reports afterwards of a physical altercation with franz tost, toro rosso team principal, which tost has always denied. speed accused the team of wanting to get rid of both himself and liuzzi.

despite things seeming to calm down over mid-season testing, at hungary '07, it was announced that speed would be replaced by sebastian vettel.

speed reportedly said that "no amount of money" would see him work with red bull again, but in 2008 he went on to drive for red bull in nascar (it is unclear if he meant red bull in f1 or red bull more broadly). he has also called his contract with toro rosso "absurd" in an episode of beyond the grid.

he raced in nascar until 2013 and has since raced in both rallycross and formula e. he briefly attempted to raced in the indianapolis 500, before deciding that it was too dangerous following the death of his friend dan wheldon. he has not raced since 2021 and now hosts the red bull podcast.

sébastian bourdais, toro rosso (2008-9), aged 29-30*

bourdais' initial foray into the world of formula 1 came before his champcar success, in 2002, with tests for both arrows (who were on the verge of bankruptcy) and renault, where he was ultimately passed over in favour of franck montagny.

he returned to f1 in 2007, gaining several tests with toro rosso after his fourth consecutive champcar title, which would unify with indycar in 2008.

in 2008, he was announced as teammate to sebastian vettel at toro rosso. in his debut race, despite qualifying seventeenth, he managed to overtake his way into fourth place before his engine failed with three laps remaining. having completed more than 90% distance, he was classified eighth and later inherited seventh after rubens barrichello was disqualified.

bourdais went on to bring home points again at belgium, where he qualified ninth, held onto fifth for most of the race and was briefly third, before toro rosso made an incorrect strategy call to stay on dry weather tyres and he was overtaken by several drivers on wets, leaving him seventh. bourdais was visibly close to tears after the race.

at italy, he qualified fourth, but a grid-box problem saw him forced to start from the pitlane. despite being lapped by his teammate, he set the second-fastest lap of the race. in japan he was the victim of a controversial fia penalty (few commentators agreed with it) for causing a collision with felipe massa and was dropped from sixth to tenth (then out of the points). this was, in fact, so controversial after a string of bad fia calls throughout the season that they were forced to release "stewards only" footage to justify the decision. many, including martin brundle, still believed that massa should have been penalised instead.

bourdais was confirmed for toro rosso in the '09 season alongside rookie sebastien buemi, replacing sebastian vettel moving up to red bull following david coulthard's retirement.

despite two points finishes, buemi outscored bourdais and impressed the team greatly. bourdais later struck buemi's car at the spain gp, taking evasive action from a spinning jarno trulli, forcing the retirement of both cars. he then collided with kovalainen in britain and suffered mechanical failure in german, after qualifying last by over a second.

in july, toro rosso announced that bourdais would be replaced by jaime alguersuari for the hungarian grand prix and onwards, with franz tost saying that bourdais had "not met expectations". bourdais had a viable case to sue toro rosso for breach of contract, who later settled with him for $2.1 million to avoid litigation.

bourdais has largely been quiet on his time as part of the red bull family, but has recently accused the team of "poor sportsmanship" and "dirty tactics" in their use of second-driver sergio perez.

following his retirement from formula 1, bourdais has competed in multiple le mans series races, including winning the 24hrs of le mans in 2016. he also returned to indycar and is currently racing in imsa sports car.

sébastien buemi, toro rosso, 2009-11, aged 20-23*

aka, the tale of three sebastians, none of them spelt the same.

buemi was brought into toro rosso in 2009 from the feeder series and his first season with them went, honestly remarkably well. he scored points on multiple occasions, outscored teammate, and rival seb, bourdais and achieved three top ten qualifying positions in a row. he was named best rookie of the season.

he continued to produce results at this level in the '10 season, in spite of one truly spectacular incident in free practice of the chinese grand prix when his suspension failed and jettisoned his two front wheels while he was travelling at over 300kph. one of the wheels went over the safety fence and almost hit a camera man. fortunately no one was hurt. he even outscored teammate alguersuari, with eight points to alguersuari's five.

in 2011, he again produced good results, scoring a total of fifteen points, almost double the previous year. however, despite this and in a surprise move, both he and alguersuari were dropped in december 2011, despite having verbal confirmation from toro rosso that their seats were safe. according to alguersuari, the reason given was that they "weren't winners". this move came so late in the season that neither alguersuari or buemi were able to negotiate for seats at other teams, which may well have been available to them, as they were already filled.

buemi himself has remained fairly quiet about his time as part of the red bull family.

he was retained as a red bull test driver in 2012 and continued to be included on their list of test drivers as recently as 2022.

since leaving f1, buemi has won the world endurance racing champioship on four occasions and the 24 hours of le mans on three. he is one of the most successful drivers in formula e's history, being crowned world champion in 2016, and still races within that series. he is one of the most decorated drivers currently racing outside of f1.

(a personal aside here, buemi's success has as much meaning to me personally as pierre gasly's win after his demotion. imagine being told that you are not a winner, only to go on and win five world championships).

jaime alguersuari, toro rosso (2009-11), aged 19-21

(serious content warning, this one contains descriptions of night terrors and discusses seeking psychological help)

at the time of his arrival, jaime alguersuari was the youngest person ever to race in f1 and only the seventh teenager. he was also the first f1 driver to be born in the 1990s. he is the son of jaime alguersuari sr., a minor motorcycle racer.

alguersuari had little success in the second half of the '09 season, suffering from mechanical failures and retiring in five of the last eight races.

despite this, he secured the drive for '10. in malaysia, he scored his first ever points with franz tost praising his skills and saying he "drove an incredible race". he scored points on two further occasions, completing the series with five and finishing just behind teammate buemi in the standings.

in the '11 season, alguersuari started out badly in the races, in either finishing outside of the points or retiring, despite qualifying impressively.

by the canadian grand prix there were rumours that he would be replaced by daniel ricciardo, who had completed a race for backmarker team hrt. in canada however, he finished eighth for his best ever result.

alguersuari significantly improved, scoring points in seven of the last thirteen races, bringing home a total points haul of twenty six, more than five times his score from the previous year and outscoring teammate buemi.

despite having impressed across the paddock in general and being tipped as a great racer of the future, alguersuari was dropped alongside his teammate, as covered above. alguersuari has repeatedly insisted that he had multiple verbal confirmations that his seat was safe from toro rosso.

since being dropped, alguersuari has been, and continues to be, vocal about the mistreatment of himself and other drivers by the red bull program. here are a few excerpts:

"none of the drivers that are racing for red bull would have had that chance without them. that is crystal clear. but what is also crystal clear is the way they sacked me and my team was not the way they should have done it [...] it was a very quick phone call lasting just one minute. it was a very tough thing, and i didn’t understand why. i still don’t understand why even today [...] they played their cards, and i wasn’t smart enough to move out at the right time. i did have an opportunity to move in abu dhabi in 2011 – that was the contract I needed to sign – and that was the only opportunity I had to sign that contract. i didn’t sign it because i wanted to be faithful to the people who had helped me since i was 15.” - 2023

"i tell you something – when i sleep, i still have very strange dreams of that time, especially about the impotence and the frustration of never making it, of seeing mr. [helmut] marko always angry, telling us off. as if we were children. [...] i have not been able to erase this.i have done therapy, when i retired several psychologists helped me… now, even so, strange things come to my head. and sometimes wake up, like, crying, having dreamt of having done a great lap only to see the face of mr. marko, angry [...] this has created a trauma – and I am convinced that buemi and many others are also going through it." - 2022

alguersuari was prielli test driver 2012-13. he was later one of the founding drivers of formula e in 2014, alongside former teammate buemi and ex-toro rosso drivers liuzzi and vergne. after only a season, he was forced to suspend racing activities after suffering from unexplained fainting spells, which were later resolved. in 2015 he retired from motor racing entirely, at the age of 25, having "fallen out of love" with it. he is now a professional dj and staged a return to competitive karting in 2021. he continues to be a vocal supporter of buemi and spanish compatriot carlos sainz jr.

jean-éric "jev" vergne, toro rosso (2012-14), aged 21-24*

(serious content warning, this one gets very upsetting and talks about eating disorders, extreme dieting, weight restrictions and hospitalisation).

vergne took part in the goodwood festival of speed, driving an f1 car, in 2010. after this, it was announced that he would test for toro rosso in the young drivers test of the same year. he went on to drive in selected free practies in 2011.

he was confirmed to race for toro rosso ahead of the '12 season, alongside teammate daniel ricciardo. in this season, he scored points on only four occasions and after the european grand prix was ruled by the fia to have caused an avoidable collision with heikki kovalainen, resulting in a ten place, double grid drop penalty and a fine of €25,000. he crashed out on one other occasion and had two retirements due to suspension failure. despite a poor showing in that season, he outscored teammate ricciardo with sitxteen points to ricciardo's ten.

in his second season, despite finishing higher in the standings, vergne scored fewer points on fewer occasions. of his five retirements, three were caused by mechanical failure and one was caused by tyre failure (a problem which plagued the entire grid that season and led to questions about pirelli's suitability as manufacturer). he was outscored by teammate ricciardo who scored twenty points to vergne's thirteen and was subsequently promoted to red bull ahead of vergne for the '14 season.

the '14 season proved to be particularly unlucky for vergne, with five dnfs total, all of which came over the course of eight races. despite this he scored points on seven occasions, giving him his best driver's championship finish with twenty two points, giving him 13th place, more than doubling team mate kvyat's score of eight. all but one of his retirements were from mechanical failure, with the final dnf being caused by collision with pastor maldonado (this was no fault of vergne's and collisions with maldonado were a problem that plagued the entire grid this season).

at the end of the '14 season, vergne was initially to be dropped in favour of max verstappen. sebastian vettel's not-unexpected move to ferrari opened up a space at red bull alongside ricciardo, to which kvyat was promoted, despite vergne reporting that the seat had been promised to him in the event of vettel's departure. this would have left a space for vergne at toro rosso, however, he was ultimately dropped from toro rosso and the seat went to carlos sainz jr. vegrne failed to secure an f1 drive for the '15 season and has not raced in f1 since.

it was reported that in the '14 season, between the australian and malaysian gps, vergne had been hospitalised after starving himself to meet new weight regulations (valtteri bottas, then at williams, has also spoken about the eating/exercise disorder he developed around the same time due to the same regulations). this was particularly a problem for the taller and/or more stockily built drivers - vergne is 6ft, tall for an f1 driver. he weighed 69kg to kvyat's 61kg. mclaren even rejected the idea of signing nico hulkenberg because of his weight. adrian sutil, another tall driver, accused other, smaller drivers of repeatedly blocking rule changes aimed at improving conditions for taller/heavier drives.

jean todt, then president of the fia, dismissed the concerns of the drivers at the time and said, specifically about vergne: "i think normally you can do a good diet and not to have to go to hospital because you have been losing so many kilos. i don't think you go to hospital because you are on a diet."

vergne has said about his time with the red bull family: "i will not attack them, because without them I would not be where I am at the moment, but it is a really difficult story for me. when I started in formula 3, [helmut marko] called me and said: ricciardo has shown you how to do it. if you don’t win the championship, you can leave. [vergne says about a second phone call] i was starting on pole and eventually i won that race, but Marko thought it was unacceptable that i had not also taken the fastest lap. that’s just how he is.” - 2019

"since it was announced mid-year that I would be out of toro rosso it would have looked very bad if, when vettel decided to leave for Ferrari, that he had called me back to go to red bull. during this frank conversation with helmut, i said what if vettel leaves. he told me vettel would not leave. And I said but what if. and he said you’d be the next one to go to red bull. but so yeah… we found out on the saturday or the friday that vettel was going to ferrari and red bull wanted to respond straight away and they announced kyvat in the morning without talking to anyone. it was a tough moment and then of course franz tost wanted to keep him, he wanted an experienced driver together with max but once again red bull could not say we are going to keep vergne and there was another driver coming with carlos sainz so they put him in the car. i wish helmut would have done it as it did with many other drivers and wait until the last race of the season to tell them because if he had waited, with the grands prix i had done before Japan [and vettel’s announcement], i was in a much stronger position to go to red bull racing than kvyat.” - 2021

"i did not smile for three years." - 2019

vergne moved to the newly formed formula e, where he has raced ever since. he is the only driver to have won two formula e world championship titles, which he did back to back in 2018 and 2019. he currently races for ds penske alongside fellow champion stoffel vandoorne.

daniil kvyat, toro rosso (2014), red bull (2015-16), toro rosso/alphatauri (2017, 2019-20), aged 19-25

(serious content warning, this one's really fucking heavy and involves depressive episodes and possible suicidal behaviour. also, sorry if you're a sebastian vettel fan, he's partly to blame here).

kvyat first came to the attention of the red bull junior driver program in 2009, after winning the karting winter cup in the kf3 category. he remained with red bull throught his time in the motorsports feeder series and was given a drive at toro rosso for the '14 season, alongside returning driver vergne.

he had an average rookie season, scoring points on five occasions, with a best finish of ninth, which was significantly outscored (as expected) by his more experienced teammate. all five of his retirements were caused by mechanical failure. depsite this, he was advanced to red bull ahead of vergne, who ultimately failed to secure a drive in f1.

kvyat's '15 season at red bull was impressive for a driver with limited experience. he scored points on all but five occasions and achieved a second-place podium finish, become the second-youngest driver ever to achieve this (at the time). he failed to start on one occasion and dnfed on another due to engine failure. his other dnf, however, came after crashing into teammate ricciardo, whose race was significantly impeded as a result.

despite ricciardo's race win, kvyat outscored his teammate in the '15 season by three points.

in the '16 season, kvyat was demoted to toro rosso after just four races, one of which he failed to start. despite scoring points in bahrain and finishing in third-place in china, red bull opted to swap kvyat and toro rosso driver max verstappen after kvyat's home race of the russian grand prix, in which he finished fifteenth. he struck the ferrari of sebastian vettel at the end of the first lap, retiring vettel's car and severely impeding his own race.

after the chinese gp, vettel slammed kvyat's "suicidal" driving, following his collision with teammate kimi raikkonen on turn one while taking avoiding action around kvyat, despite the stewards taking no action and many suggesting that vettel was in fact to blame. vettel finished second and was in the cool down room ahead of the podium with kvyat when he laid into him on live television. he subsequently dubbed kvyat "the torpedo".

after the russian gp, many news outlets and social media accounts noted that kvyat appeared morose and depressed, as well as reporting that he had removed all information from his social media bio to say "just a human". multiple social media posts from fans described kvyat as looking "suicidal" or stated that red bull/toro rosso must be on "suicide watch".

of the swap, christian horner said: "dany will be able to continue his development at toro rosso, in a team that he is familiar with, giving him the chance to regain his form and show his potential."

kvyat, who many continued to note looked extremely depressed for the rest of the season, score on only three occasions with toro rosso in the '16 season. despite this, and despite speculation that he would be dropped altogether, he was re-signed for the '17 season.

the '17 season went poorly for kvyat, who was plagued with mechanical failures as well as retirements due to driver error. he scored points on only three occasions and was replaced by pierre gasly from the malaysian gp onwards, although he returned for the us gp to replace carlos sainz jr, who had moved to renault, before being replaced again by brendon hartley, with helmut marko confirming that kvyat would not be returning to toro rosso for the '18 season.

despite being considered for williams in the '18 season, kvyat failed to secure a drive and spent the season as ferrari reserve driver.

kvyat rejoined toro rosso ahead of the '19 season, replacing pierre gasly who had been promoted to red bull. he raced alongside rookie teammate alex albon. he put in strong performances, finishing in the points on ten occasions and bringing home a third-place podium at the german gp. however, two of his three retirements were caused by collisions, in one of which kvyat was deemed by the fia to be at fault, adding to his growing, but largely unfair, reputation at "the torpedo" (in the other, ricciardo locked up and collided with kvyat, reversing into him whilst attempting to rejoin the race).

despite his good results, he was outscored in the early part of the season by temmate albon, and kvyat remained at toro rosso whilst albon was promoted mid-season to replace pierre gasly who was demoted.

kvyat continued at toro rosso, now rebranded as alphatauri in the '20 season. despite scoring well, scoring points in seven of the seventeen races (including one shock third place podium, toro rosso’s first since sebastian Vettel in 2008) and retiring only twice (once in a collision, which may have been caused by a tyre puncture rather than driver error, and one with suspension failure), he was outmatched by teammate gasly who claimed the team's first win since sebastian vettel at the italian grand prix. gasly finished the season with more than twice kvyat's total points (seventy-five to kvyat's thirty-two).

alphatauri chose not to renew kvyat's contract for the '21 season, electing instead to give the seat to the rookie yuki tsunoda. kvyat was reserve driver, alongside zhou guanyu, for alpine in the '21 season but has not raced in f1 since.

kvyat has been vocal about his poor treatment by the red bull family, saying: "from toro rosso to red bull, not easy of course. it’s a different f1 team, the top and the midfield has a different mentality. also, very difficult times for the team. everyone was very stressed. It was the opposite of now, now they have a dominant car, at the time, it was one of their worst cars. christan [horner] wasn’t happy. helmut [marko] wasn’t happy. so, they were difficult times at red bull. so to basically help them get through their shittiest times, and then they get rid of you.. but whatever, it was still a great chapter.” - 2023

he also said: "obviously the decision in a way was a bit of a shock also for myself. one week I was standing on the podium and then suddenly there were a few decisions made around. as i said, the bosses make them and I have nothing else but to accept them and do my best job possible now in the team i am with – and it is toro rosso. it should be ok – i think I have done everything correctly until now. and nothing will change from my side [...] i really felt betrayed then, it was a knife in the back, but that’s part of life. sometimes that happens, it’s normal. it is now in the past." - 2023

"the truth is after 2016, i didn’t really want to be there [at toro rosso]. zero motivation. i didn’t like working for them and every time i woke up, i was like, i have to go drive the car again with them. so it wasn’t very enjoyable at the time. in 2017, it was difficult because I had zero motivation and carlos was extremely motivated. and then if you go with this mentality against a motivated carlos, there’s no point. so for me i wish i had a chance with someone else in F1. red bull gave me a lot but since we had our issues, it was very difficult. and I didn’t have a lot of motivation to be there." - 2023

although kvyat entered the world endurance championship in 2022, he was forced to withdraw after the fia introduced limiting conditions to the ability of russian drivers to compete following the russian invasion of ukraine. kvyat called these conditions "unfair and descriminatory." he made three starts in nascar in 2022 and is currently testing in formula e, with a view to gaining a full drive in the '24 season.

carlos sainz jr., toro rosso (2015-17), aged 20-23**

sainz, son of successful rally cross racer carlos sainz sr., joined the red bull junior team in 2010 while racing in formula bmw. he then moved up the feeder series, taking part in the f1 young drivers' test in 2013. he joined the toro rosso team ahead of the '15 season.

in his debut race he qualified inside the top ten and ultimately finished ninth, scoring points. he went on to score points in seven of the ninteen races, only finishing an additional four. all eight of his retirements were caused by technical issues. despite his good results teammate verstappen more than doubled his score and was ultimately advanced to red bull over sainz early in the '16 season.

during his second season at toro rosso, he scored a total of forty six points, two and half times his score of the previous season and more than 2/3 of the teams total points.

in his third season for toro rosso, sainz continued to improve his scores, including a fourth place finish for toro rosso in singapore. despite this, sainz publicly commented that it was "unlikely" that he would stay with toro rosso during the austrian gp. this was refuted by christian horner who insisted that sainz would race for toro rosso in the '18 season.

despite scoring forty eight of toro rosso's fifty two points at that point in the season, sainz was "loaned" to renault from the us grand prix onwards, following the departure of jolyon palmer. he went on to end his relationship with red bull at the end of the season, leaving toro rosso for a full drive at renault.

though sainz has not spoken openly about his relationship with red bull, helmut marko said:

"we did not send sainz away and it is not for nothing that we were once very early to sign him. verstappen and sainz were very well matched, but we had no opportunity to offer him more [than a place at toro rosso]. he was not convinced of the future prospects at toro rosso. he felt he was not moving forward and he did not want to wait any longer. we first loaned him out and then we canceled the contract completely. after all, we did not want to stand in the way of his future." - 2021.

marko has also been critical of the involvement of carlos sainz sr. in his son's career, saying that his father is "one of those motorsports fathers who doesn't look at it objectively, which is understandable, and just always does what he thinks is best for his son." - 2021

sainz's time at renault was regarded as unsuccessful but later moves to mclaren and then ferrari proved fruitful. sainz still races in f1 with ferrari and is now a multiple race-winning driver.

brendon hartley, toro rosso (2017-18), aged 27-30*

hartley arrived in f1 as an fia wec champion, which he had won in 2015.

he had previously worked as a test driver for both red bull (2008-10) and mercedes (2012-13). he was dropped from his role as red bull test driver at the end of 2010, with red bull citing his failure to win a race during that season of formula renault 3.5 (for context, fellow test driver and teammate daniel ricciardo won the series).

he was initially brought in to race in the stead of pierre gasly at the 2017 us gp. gasly was absent in order to compete in the final round of the super formula championship. hartley's qualifying performance was marred by an engine grid drop penalty and he eventually finished the race in thirteenth.

he remained a toro rosso driver for the rest of the season, replacing kvyat. he failed to score any points, and retired in two of the three remaining races with mechanical failure, as well as taking a ten place grid drop penalty for changing power units.

in the '18 season, hartley scored points on only three occasions, finishing the season twenty five points behind teammate pierre gasly. he retired on five occasions, three caused by technical issues. overall his season was marred by a host of car related issues and associated grid drop penalties.

toro rosso announced hartley's replacement with alex albon at the end of the '18 season.

of his time with in the red bull family, hartley has said:

"of course, I would have liked to have stayed longer and kept progressing. i developed a lot during that season and I was doing a very good job at the end of the year. we didn’t have the car to finish in the points all the time. i learnt so much from that season. some things were tough. [...] sometimes some of the questions the media was asking or rumours. Sometimes you are under the microscope. i didn't always enjoy that. but again, it taught me a lot and it made me a lot stronger as a driver coming out the other side of that. i look back really only positively. absolutely no regrets. i gave it my best shot. there are only 20 cars on the grid." - 2023

hartley went on to drive a brief stint in formula e. he has continued in endurance racing and now holds three wec titles and three 24hrs of le mans titles, and like buemi is one of the most decorated drivers racing outside of f1.

pierre gasly, toro rosso (2017), red bull (2018-19), toro rosso/alphatauri (2019-2022), aged 21-26**

(serious content warning, this one covers the death of anthonie hubert).

gasly joined the red bull junior drivers team whilst competing in formula renault 3.5 in 2014. he was named red bull reserve driver in 2015 and made one appearance in formula e at the 2017 new york eprix, racing for renault. gasly made his debut in f1 for toro rosso in 2017 at the malaysian gp, replacing daniil kvyat, however he was forced to miss the us gp as he was racing concurrently in the super formula championship, the final round of which clashed. he failed to score any points in the five races he drove in in the '17 season, but did finish every race.

in the '18 season, he was given the drive at toro rosso alongside brendon hartley. he impressed, bringing home a total of twnty-nine points (compared to hartley's four) and scoring points on five occasions. three of his five dnfs were caused by mechanical failure, and of the two collisions, one was not gasly's fault as grosjean's tyres created a smoke screen eliminating both gasly and hulkenberg who were unable to see.

gasly was promoted to red bull for the '19 season, after daniel ricciardo left the team to go to renault. despite finishing in the points on nine occasions, with only two retirements (one due to mechanical failure, the other crashing into toro rosso driver alex albon), gasly was demoted to toro rosso ahead of the italian gp (the thirteenth round). this was after poor qualifying results, a couple of crashes and being lapped by teammate verstappen at the hungarian gp, who was much outperforming him (surprising no one). both christian horner and helmut marko confirmed that gasly would stay at red bull until the end of the season when rumours that gasly would be demoted began circumlating, but this proved to be false.

christian horner said of the demotion that the team needed to be able to "make an informed decision as to who will drive alongside max [verstappen] in 2020" and that "we desperately need [gasly] realising more of the potential of the car."

an ex-f1 senior systems engineer at red bull, although he professes to have heard this second hand, has also claimed on social media that Gasly got “quite vocal with adrian [newey] over the set-up of the car. it became a bit of a shouting match in the garage and then once that happened you know in front of Marko and that it was back to the sister team you go.” - Dan - EngineMode11 (on social media)

ahead of the belgian gp, his first race since being demoted, gasly's "best mate", anthoine hubert, was killed in the f2 support race. gasly was particularly affected by the death. christian horner sought out gasly ahead of the race and, self-reportedly said: "so all i could do was try to offer some support and say that anthoine was doing exactly what he wanted to do, and 'if he had the opportunity to be racing the formula 1 car that you're in tomorrow, he would have grabbed that opportunity with both hands."

despite the demotion, gasly achieved five more points finishes, including one second-place podium, toro rosso's best finish since sebastian vettel in 2008. he scored thirty two points for toro rosso (and ninty-five overall) compared to teammate kvyat's ten in the same period.

gasly was retained by the team for the '20 season and following the rebrand to alphatauri, again alongside kvyat. he scored points on ten occasions, with three dnfs (twice due to mechanical failure and once in a multi-car pile up). his early success, even before his win at the italian gp, led to widespread speculation that he would be promoted back to red bull after showing much improvement.

at the italian gp, gasly finished first, scoring toro rosso's second ever win. this was made possible through taking advantage of an early safety car and lewis hamilton receiving a penalty. even so, gasly demonstrated skill in overtaking lance stroll and holding off a charging carlos sainz jr. though franz tost praised gasly, he dismissed the possibility of him returning to red bull any time soon. he scored 75 points total that season, outscoring kvyat.

gasly dedicated his win to anthoine hubert, who he revealed had texted him ahead of the '20 belgium gp with the words "prove them wrong", which became a personal mantra.

despite his success, and the firing of alex albon, gasly was passed over for promotion to red bull. instead, the seat went to non-red bull family driver sergio perez.

he continued to impress in the '21 season, scoring a total of one hundred and ten championship points and securing a third place podium, as well as outscoring rookie teammate tsunoda (as expected), and was again passed-over for promotion in favour of retaining perez, who had received mixed reviews.

a visibly frustrated gasly did not score as well in the '22 seson, partly owing to an uncompetitive car. he scored only twenty three points and left alphatauri of his own volition for a drive at alpine in the '23 season. he was replaced by rookie nyck de vries.

gasly has been vocal about his treatement by red bull, even during his time at alphatauri (which many believe to be part of the reason he was repeatedly passed over for promotion).

of his time with the red bull family, gasly has said: " "from the moment I made my first mistake in a car, i felt like people there slowly began to turn on me. i'd had a crash in winter testing and from that moment on the season never really got going. then i had a tough first two races with red bull and the media just ate me up. anything i said in the press was twisted into an excuse for my form, and nobody really stuck up for me. the car wasn’t perfect and i was doing my best to try to improve and learn each week. but here’s what i’ll say about it – it was a difficult time for me at red bull because i didn’t feel like i was really supported and treated the same way as others there have been. And for me, that’s something i just can’t accept. i was working my ass off every day, trying to get results for the team, but i was not being given all the tools i needed to succeed. i would try to offer solutions but my voice wasn’t heard, or it would take weeks to see changes. for whatever reason, i was never going to be a fit in that seat — it was just never going to work. i’m not the type of person to start stuff in the media because i am truly grateful to red bull for the chance, as well as for everything they have done for me in my career. i really am. but i’m allowed to tell my truth.” - 2021

gasly now races at alpine alongside esteban ocon.

(personal aside, i find what christian horner said to pierre after anthoine hubert's death horrifying and morally bankrupt. if someone has lost their best friend in a racing accident on the same track they are due to race in the following day, there should be no form of pressure on them whatsoever to race. staff at red bull have repeatedly referred to, directly or indirectly, drivers wanting to cancel a race or to choose not to race personally following a major accident as some kind of cowardly. this is simply not true and it is my opinion that they should be publicly reprimanded by the fia and their peers for such behaviour).

alex albon, toro rosso (2019), red bull (2019-20), aged 22-24

albon became part of the red bull academy in 2012, but was dropped the same year. initially he was contracted to appear in formula e in the '19 season, racing with nissan, but his contract was cancelled to allow him to race for toro rosso in f1.

in his debut season, albon raced for toro rosso for only twelve races before being promoted to red bull, to replace the demoted gasly. his results had been fair to good, scoring points on five occasions, with a best finish of sixth. he retired only once in a collision that was no fault of his own.

after being promoted ahead of the belgian gp, albon finished in the points on all but one occasion, with a best finish of fourth, though he failed to gain a podium place (the goal for red bull at the time). his fourteenth place finish came after being struck and sent into spin by hamilton.

in the '20 season, albon finished in the points on all but four occasions, gaining two third-place podiums. both dnfs were caused by mechanical failure. he brought home a total of 105 points and finished seventh in the championship. despite these ostensibly good results, especially for someone who had only raced two seasons in f1, albon was dropped ahead of the '21 season after being significantly outperformed by teammate verstappen.

about his time at red bull, albon has said: "this isn’t to throw shade at anyone at red bull racing or max or anything, honestly. but the car is set up in a unique way that is built around the lead driver, and that’s max. and, look, i totally get why. i mean, when all is said and done, he might be the greatest driver of all time. but he has a very distinct style of driving, and he likes the car set up a certain way that’s hard for a lot of drivers to sync up with. of course, you can tinker and tweak your own car, but just the red bull in general is suited to max’s style. i like a lot of front end and nose. I’ve been teammates with george and charles and i've always had way more nose than them. and when i got into the red bull … i mean there was so much nose on the thing that if you blew on the wheel the car would turn. if you play call of duty, or a game like that, turn your sensitivity up to the highest it will go. that’s what it’s like to drive that car." - 2023

he has also said "it was the experience that was missing." - 2022

albon remained at red bull as reserve driver for the '21 season , as well as taking on a coaching role for rookie alphatauri driver yuki tsunoda, before securing a drive at williams for the '22 season. he continues to race there.

nyck de vries, alphatauri (2023), aged 28*

prior to racing in f1, nyck de vries raced in formula e for mercedes, where he was crowned champion in 2021. he also served as a test driver for mercedes f1, williams and aston martin.

he made his debut in f1 racing for williams in 2022 after being called up as reserve driver to race in place of alex albon, who was suffering from appendicitis.

he impressed during his debut, scoring points after finishing in ninth and being awarded driver of the day by fans.

despite much speculation that he would sign for williams in 2023, replacing nicholas latifi, de vries was successfully poached by alphatauri, replacing pierre gasly.

de vries failed to score any points in his races for alphatauri, with his highest finish being twelfth. he retired once due to driver error. after early speculation that he would lose his seat, he was dropped less than half way through the season after the end of the british grand prix, alphatauri forgoing the typical season's grace afforded to rookies. he was replaced by daniel ricciardo.

though de vries has yet to speak in any detail about his time with the red bull family, christian horner has said that the decision was made to replace him after daniel ricciardo performed well in eleven laps of testing. he said: "it all happened a little quicker than expected, bearing in mind we hadn’t completed the test [...] helmut spoke with nyck – you know, he was the one that obviously had recruited him – so he was the one that spoke with nyck about lap 11 of the test it was becoming a difficult situation for nyck, but there was a high expectation on him because, whilst inexperienced in formula 1, he’s obviously a very experienced driver. i think there was a general feeling that nyck wasn’t quite hitting the mark. and then the question was, what are the options if we were to switch things around? the situation was clear. It was a question of, okay, what’s the point in waiting? that would have meant obviously leaving him in the car until after the summer break."

de vries has since returned to formula e with mahindra racing.

so there you have it, the complete(ish) history of red bull crimes against their drivers, going all the way back to the beginning. i hope that you take this information and use it to make an informed decision about whether you personally want to support red bull and/or alphatauri in f1 (as teams, not the drivers individually). i personally cannot support any red bull family team in f1 because of this history of psychological/emotional abuse of their drivers and work place bullying. i am aware that this behaviour is not unique to red bull, but red bull display possibly the most extensive history of it, despite only coming into being in 2005. likewise they have made no effort to correct or acknowledge their wrongdoings.

Lando Norris: Wants to burn the goat so bad but his plan is abysmal and will 100% get him arrested before the burning even can happen.

Oscar Piastri: Has to intervene in Landos plan because he doesn't want Lando to rot away in jail. Gets the job done nice and clean.

Charles Leclerc: Thinks its a normal swedish christmas tradition. Is shocked to find out it is illegal.

Carlos Sainz: Heard that Charles was burning something and didn't ask any follow up questions, just went with him.

Another reason why Episode Nagi is a shoujo manga

One thing from Episode Nagi chapter 21 hit me hard. I mean the moment when Nagi was thinking about how Reo believed in him.

No one had ever placed hope in Nagi before. He himself has also never shown any initiative before. Nagi didn't seem like a person who would do something or be motivated to act because he believed in himself.

It wasn't until he realized that someone believed in him. Thanks to this faith, he began to act. And when there was no one around who believed in him, he was left with faith in himself.

However, Nagi would never believe in himself unless someone (Reo) believed in him first. Without it, he would still remain passive and do nothing with his life.

When I noticed this dependence, I immediately thought that a similar philosophy was presented in Fruits Basket (shoujo manga).

I'm specifically talking about story of Kisa, who had problems getting along with her classmates. She received a letter from a teacher who briefly advised her to like herself first so that others would like her.

However, Yuki did not agree with this.

When someone likes you, you will like yourself.

When someone believes in you, you will believe in yourself.

In both cases, the entire change depends on the other person. The character won't do much on their own because they need some motivator to influence them.

In Fruits Basket, this should not be surprising, because it is a shoujo manga that will focus on interpersonal relationships.

However, for example, in the main series of Blue Lock, where Isagi is the protagonist, the main character does not really need anyone's help for his development, because he is his own cause. Isagi does everything himself. Yes, he uses the help of others, but it is not perceived that way. He didn't need anyone else to believe in him to believe in himself. (Yes, this could be an example of his initial relationship with Bachira, when Meguru immediately began to have great hopes in Isagi. However, I don't see it as "Oh, Bachira believed in me, now I believe in myself! I wouldn't have gone this far, if it weren't for him.", because Isagi very quickly began to notice his own possibilities, which he was entitled to himself).

But Nagi is not like Isagi. He couldn't do anything on his own. He needed someone who would believe in him. If it weren't for Reo, his life would have come to a standstill. He would have no reason to believe in himself or work on himself.

Nagi is more like a shoujo protagonist who needs the presence of another person to initiate his development. He doesn't necessarily need this person all the time in order to continue to develop, but he certainly wouldn't be able to make any changes in his life without their constant presence in his mind.

And Episode Nagi (compared to Blue Lock) does not focus just on the independent development of the main character, but also devotes a lot of attention to his relationship with another person.

I'm not saying it doesn't exist in Blue Lock. It's just more emphasized in Episode Nagi, in a shoujo manga style.

You know... I kept my faith all this time. I thought, the Yuki fight was just a one time slip. Everyone makes mistakes. The atrocious way the Culling Games arc played out will be redeemed by this fight that was foreshadowed in the literal third chapter of the manga. But Gege went and fucking did it again, he ruined a fantastic overall fight with an atrociously bad ending. Like when you think about it, he didn't even really change it up... Gojo used a big suicide attack as his final move like Yuki, then it turns out to have accomplished nothing like Yuki, fucking hell he's even split in half just the same as she was. I seriously can't believe it.

We all knew Gojo had to go out in some form or another. The "It's Gojover" memes didn't exist for nothing. But to have it be done off-screen??? On top of that we get a whole purgatory sequence where he just outright says Sukuna was stronger and that he's just happy he got a good fight out of all of this? He doesn't give a fuck about his students or what will happen to them after this? His adopted son? What was even the point of him saying that if the only reason Sukuna wins it's due to Mahoraga? Why was Sukuna supposedly "nervous" last chapter if it turns out he wasn't even really trying?

We all made jokes over the years about Gege saying how he hates Gojo, about it being self-deprecation or he's just messing around... But I can only conclude that Gege actually despises his creation for a character assassination this bad. Gojo legitimately has never won an important fight in this entire series, all the way until the bitter end. He always loses and always leaves a mess for his students to clean up. All his talk about being the strongest, "I will win", it was all bravado and no substance. Like I really can't believe it, Gojo has never won a fight that mattered. Not once.

Pending some sort of galaxy brain reversal from Gege (which I do not have enough copium in the tank for to truly believe in but hey... RCT comes from the brain and his head is still attached...), this is no doubt the worst chapter of the entire manga. This was the fight we were all waiting to see happen from the very beginning, foreshadowed in chapter 3, and the man just straight up fumbled the ending because Gege has a boner for the villains to win.

And if this disrespect was not enough, this pivotal chapter ends with fucking KASHIMO of all fucking people swooping in the steal the last panel signaling the start of a new fight. Wtf is this guy even going to do against Cleave which can now cut through the world itself? We don't even get the time to mourn Gojo. For fuck's sake.

UnPopular Jujutsu Kaisen Opinions (with arguments)

manga spoilers

☆ Yuji is the perfect MC

i've seen a lot of people trashing on him. some say gege writes him poorly and doesn't give him enough scenes, some say he's boring because he doesn't have any fancy cursed techniques. first of all, yuji has been aware of the jujutsu world for 6 months in manga; even less in anime. he doesn't have any OP cliche to him (looking at you Ichigo) and that makes him so much more enjoyable! when he loses he loses for good reasons and when he wins you can feel genuinely happy for him because you know he deserves it. he is a teenager and the shift in his mentalities embodies that perfectly; along with him we discover the cruelty and unfairness of the jujutsu world. at first, especially if you're a shonen watcher, you'd tend to believe he will shift to a high white knight borderline annoying mentality yet he doesn't, the jjk verse doesn't work like that. yuji is able to adapt. he has traits that you'd see in your real life friends: silliness, kindness, idiocy, love for jennifer lawrence etc but also traits that make him a perfect mc: empathy, resiliance, convinction, raw anger. + gege have him some of the HARDEST panels.

ㅡif it's just pain... Yuji Itadori won't ever stop

also. his last battle with mahito. hands down. best. panels.

mahito (another well structured villain) RUNNING for his life while yuji walks slowly behind him. if that doesn't show major improvement from the kid he was at the beginning idk what does. that's some MC shit right there man.

☆ Sukuna is not a fraud

the fraudkuna memes are funny. i admit. i'm sure mahoraga kisses him goodnight and tucks his blankey, however, sukuna is a fucking piece of shit, LOL (i mean it in the best way), my man literally became curse. people expect him to not use the weapons he has to his advantage as if he didn't want megumi from the beginning specifically for using his abilities. a good gun doesn't make you a military tier shooter. it's about the resources, it's about the experience, it's about the aim. "why doesn't he use his curse technique wah wah" — because he knows gojo is strong. unless he isn't absolutely sure he will strip him away from all his gimmicks, he has no reason to flaunt his true powers. sukuna wants to win. he wanted to kill gojo since the beginning of the series. i think the fight is balanced well, sukuna uses his resources and takes the consequences for being a tad too cautious. in the heian era when cursed energy had a purer, rawer output even domain expansions were simple in principles: you're in, i kill you. (line from the manga, btw) his CT is probably straightforward as well with a simple principle so having gojo use his infinity against it and figure out how to strip him naked would make him lose faster than todo called yuji his bestie.

☆ Gege doesn't hate women

because the unfortunate thing with nobara and yuki getting xd-d by kenjaku, a popular belief seems to be that gege is fond of trashing the women in his series. argument people have for that? "the only one in the spotlight is maki and she's female toji". first of all, if gege hated women he wouldn't write them as he does— each one of his lady characters is incredibly well structured and way beyond the love interest/ gotta be protected trope. mei mei, shoko, utahime, miwa and many others became non-existent, or what? even tengen is a woman. masashi kishimoto (the creator of naruto) is an author i'd say has 0 regards for women since the way most of his girl characters are built is literal dog shit. sakura is naruto's one sided love and a sasuke dickrider, hinata is a stalker that sharts when she sees naruto, karin is a sasuke dickrider, kurenai is asuma's chick and the only two women somewhat ok as a structure are tsunde and temari. (i am a big fan of the naruto series but i am spitting facts, also an avid sakura lover) plus there is a rumour that gege is a woman too and from the way sato sugu is written i'd agree anw

☆ Kenjaku is the best villain of the series

ANYWAY jokes aside, he is very calculated and chill. he is not the strongest but his literal essence is to be a technique stealing leech and well, he's just that. with suguru, even in his villain arc you can empathize. sukuna is cool and straightforward: he wants to massacre people, kill gojo and then enjoy his life slashing random ass people who don't kneel is total submission.

i don't hate him— not in the slightest. i hope he will actually have something going on with maki since apparently nobara is afk. i liked his entire rika situation but... bro.

yes, i will be going into the power system 😭I'M SORRY BUT like all he does is copy shit. wow. sure, he's a good copycat. i am not complaining about him being called so powerful and wtv but i don't find anything exciting about his battles and his personality is dead ass boring. do i get happy when he wins? yes. do i hope he'll come and save goatjo? yes. yes. yes. but people call him the real MC and all that shit... not even that— i... nothing in me likes him. my opinions are not absolute. his story is cool. i liked jjk 0 but the only thing that ruins his story is literally his lack of perosnality. and don't come at me for not grasping his depths or whatever. yuta is best fanfic y/n material because he can be turned into bashful stereotype really easily. "omg, best friend power, precious friends made me wanna live ❤️" very sweet HOWEVER very untouching for me. i only liked him when he made maki go all blushy because my girl deserves happiness.

no.

but he chose this. to forget about everything, to abandon his pride, to part himself away from the clan that rejected him and live his life on his own. megumi's mom made shit better for him and she died so his life became shit again. he thought that by entrusting megumi to the zenin clan he would actually be able to make something of himself since he had cursed energy.

also, people tend to forget just how conservative and judgemental the 3 big clans are, maki and mai have been shat on their whole life by the zenins, especially maki. toji went through the same shit if not worse. he wasn't always buff max version of himself, he wasn't born with anything. exactly because he gave up on all the things in his life he was able to reach that type of power and live with some purpose since he failed in everything else.

in the manga he has the option of coming back to life as long as he keeps killing sorcerers, which is his speciality, but he meets megumi, recognises him and kills himself in order to not hurt him. be fr. anciet sorcerers sold their booty holes to kenjaku to get a second chance at life.

why do you think that female char are no longer well written on jjk? /genq (i am caught up with the manga so don't worry about spoilers)

SPOILERS AHEAD!!! for me all of this began with nobara's death and it went downhill from there, now see I understand it might've been important to give yuuji motivation etc but when a roach naoya get's to survive again and again after getting killed but there is no hope for nobara who was one touch kill and had chances of survival but doesn't purely for shock factor, it doesn't sit right with me.

Okay, ignore even that maybe it's my attachment to the character talking so let's talk about other female characters: most of the fandom forgets momo exists that's how useless he made her, she suffered no serious damage (not as far as I remember) and her only active role was in kyoto goodwill arc and an appearance in shibuya we barely see her after that.

Gege treats female characters as a catalyst for mcs, either they're completely useless or get killed off or even if they're powerful enough they're barely mentioned or shown doing something useful.

Example for catalyst: We literally never really see Utahime in action except in Shinjuku Battle to boost Gojo's ct. Like really? That's your semi grade 1 sorcerer and all throughout the manga that was her only role?

Example for completely useless: I already talked about momo, lets about miwa okay, she put her everything to that one swing post-shibuya against kenjaku only for him to deflect it with his bare hands and what about her after that? Nothing!! She gave up everything and now she cannot do anything, just another cheap tactic to get rid of another useful character.

Example for killed: Listen I will accept Mai's death because it served the purpose and was one of the most impressive parts but other than that? Yuki Tsukumo, the special grade, the star plasma that rejected even tengen and cornered kenjaku, her death was so anticlimactic and unsatisfactory, she was practically winning but apparently "a miscalculation" caused her death, listen I like a shocking plot twist and death but that seemed like nothing but an excuse to get rid of another strong female character because gege had no idea how he'd use her in future.

More example for catalyst: Tsumiki and Yorozu (aka the same body but!) she was such a driving force for Megumi but after Culling Game arc hit we got a tease of her (or them) and that provided more motivation for megumi to fix things to work harder to bring his sister back but instead of seeing more of her gege killed her off after sukuna took over megumi's body because her purpose was served!! Done. She was there as long as she could be used as a beacon of hope for our poor boy.

Example of if powerful then they're barely shown: Shoko and Mei Mei, we know both of them are quite capable, they've proved their worth and aside from the fact that Mei Mei is a fucking pedophile she's still a great sorcerer but now she doesn't care about sorcerers and henceforth isn't present/doesn't provide much or any help at all other than the telecast. Shoko on the other hand, we're supposed to believe that her using rct is special and she's one of the most important characters mind you she's the part of the og trio but we rarely get to see her. Even know (the up to date manga chapters) they keep talking about taking the injured sorcerers to shoko but they never !! show !! her !! in !! action !! Like c'mon she's been working overtime but SOMEHOW gege can't dedicate more than four panels to her?

Now onto Maki, the only one standing, the only female character gege truly utilised gave her one heck of goal and arc and then very conveniently forgot her for next 100 chapters. She's great yes, and gege's finally back to currently giving her the attention she deserves which I am very skeptical about because if he just kills her off in next chapter to make a statement istg...but everytime she's mentioned they HAVE to mention toji, it's almost like she'll never leave his shadow, all her achievements are boiled down to FEMALE TOJI which, don't get me wrong I love toji but she's more than that, she's a monster because she wiped out a whole clan not because she shares same superhuman powers as her predecessor and dare I say she's already surpassed toji at this point.

Let's not forget Uro and Angel/Hana whom gege brought in once for one job and then we all completely forgot about them. (I am mentioning them last because he's done this with many other characters so they're truly not an unique case in that sense)

Returning back to when jjk first was fairly new and we had these panels

it was hype we thought FINALLY!!!! she doesn't denounce her femininity but isn't used as a fan service material through them either and she's fucking nuts and strong FINALLY!!! only for gege to go well now that you've had the crumbs you're getting neither, not the pretty ones nor the strong ones and even if they're strong I am going to act like they don't exist so have fun!! And that's why I think he's really downgraded.

Satosugu Hurt/Comfort + Fluff

@get0suguru I said I would so here it is !

Honestly, I don't think I'll write an entire fic but I need to get the ideas out of my head. Feel free to use this for your inspiration (and send me the link please !)

This is not properly written, this was a bullet list of ideas and I just took off the bullets because the paragraph became longer and longer and it was a mess. Feel free to use this for your own inspiration (and please send me the link if you publish something) !

Geto Suguru & Gojo Satoru - 3rd year students

After Riko's death, Suguru slowly starts to spiral and question his role in the world, while Satoru starts training more and more alone and is sent on solo missions. The encounter with Yuki worsens Suguru's state.

Satoru notices that something's wrong and invites Suguru to eat something with him. Suguru feels a bit better when those blue eyes are looking at him. They make the habit of sharing a meal whenever they can.

They spend more and more time away from each other and Suguru's still spiraling, but every time they manage to meet, he allows himself to enjoy the life he has a little bit. Those blue eyes might be worth the pain.

Haibara dies and Suguru's hate for non-sorcerer is growing even quicker than before. He wonders why he's still there trying to protect them. He doesn't want to risk his life for them. He doesn't want to lose his friends for them.

A few days after that, Satoru finds his friend standing alone in the gymnasium. "You look like you're going to disappear." Suguru doesn't look at him when he answers "I'm so tired. I don't think I can keep going on." Satoru hugs him desperatly "Please stay with me. I'll figure things out, I'll make it easier for you, I'll give you everything. Stay for me. Please."

-Alternative to the emotional moment because Gojo won't act serious if he's not forced to (and because I don't know which dialogue I prefer)- Satoru, half-joking : "You look like a ghost, like you could disappear anytime." Suguru, not looking at him : "Maybe I can. Maybe I will. I can't find anything worth the sacrifice, I can't bring myself to be happy in this world." Satoru, rolling his eyes like the dramaking he is : "Duh, I'm here idiot ! Am I not the source of your happiness ? Am I not the best thing that happened in your life ? Am I not the one who brings a smile on your pretty face ? Don't you dare say that nothing in this world can make you happy when you're friend with me, dumbass !" Suguru is speechless, then he laughs and Satoru's proud to be right. Suguru calls him an idiot, but he agrees.

They're even closer than before now, always touching some part of their skin whenever they're together, and Satoru constantly reminds Suguru that everything will be fine as long as they stay together. He says things like "Look at me, I'm here." and "Can you stay for me ?" and "Remember that you're not alone" and "Just try to endure it a bit longer, I'm with you" every now and then. It gives Suguru the strength to keep going day by day despite his deep disgust with the jujutsu world.

Sometimes, Satoru is away for a long time, and Suguru is alone with the disgusting taste of the curses he has to swallow. He feels sick and awful, and he's so close to giving up everything. Satoru calls him when he can but he won't be back soon. He makes him promise to wait, and Suguru's not sure if he can do it. So Suguru crashes into Satoru's room and spends the entire time in the bed, which smells like Satoru. It helps.

One time they're cuddling in Suguru's bed (because Satoru decided he would sleep there that night) and Suguru grows an obsession with Satoru's small waist. Like, he can't stop touching it, it's driving him insane, he feels so high, like he just took every drug existing. Of course Satoru notices "Is that me or are you having an existential crisis over my waist ?" but of course it doesn't bother him at all. Now he uses this too as an argument to make Suguru stay at the school : "You can't live without my perfect body. Can you imagine running away and not being able to touch me anymore ?" The worst part is that it works.

Suguru saves the twins and kills the two adults who were accusing them, but he restrains himself from destroying the whole village. Instead, he calls Satoru who immediately teleports there despite being on a mission elsewhere. Satoru covers the crime scene and tells Suguru to pretend that the two non-sorcerers got killed during the fight against the curse. It's classified as collateral damage. The two of them bring Mimiko and Nanako to the school and teach them about the curses and the exorcists.

Now, Suguru has two more reasons to stay. He's still depressed and he still hates the monkeys, but he starts to believe that things would end up fine. He has people to protect now, he has people to love. He can fight for that.

When they graduate, Satoru and Suguru move out of the school with twins, and they take Megumi and Tsukimi with them.

now i have like a thought in mind: which dad!f1 driver would eat whatever food because of a reason? just hear me out~

daniel ricciardo's kid (say beau ricciardo) would think that he's so clever when it comes to pranking his dad (mind you, he would be as young as six - but he's a fucking menace bc he's literally danny's copy). beau would say that, "daddy i made food with mummy!" then daniel would get excited, but beau would hand him a plate of those plastic food and veggies you get from those sets of grocery store toys. beau would be laughing and would say, "hah! i got you!" then daniel would fuck around a little bit and actually put a plastic carrot in his mouth with a nonchalant shrug. beau would look at daniel like, "oh my god my dad is batshit 😟"

charles leclerc's eldest twins, hervé and jules, would attempt to bake chocolate cookies from scratch - uncle estie is so freaking good at baking cookies - and charles was their guinea pig. they'd proudly present it to him and he would be so freaking hungry that he just put a chunk of it in his mouth. the cookie he ate was salty but he wanted to appease his kids so bad that he just smiled and nodded as if it was good (he eventually spat it out and jules and hervé pretty much accepted that their cookies were shit because it was their first try).

sebastian vettel would genuinely eat the food his kids made for him and would even critique it. he did that with his foster daughter barbie when she first cooked the cuisine that she was taught before and he actually loved it- though he did ask if barbie could add more chicken into the adobo.

yuki tsunoda and his daughter hana would make a bento together so she can have some for her lunch in school. well, yuki would of course make her food because her lunch needs to be edible but hana, who was just preschool age, would be messing around with the rice and the meat for the rice and even mix in some sauce into it and would tell yuki, "papa, eat breakfast!" with the proudest grin on her face. yuki would eat it and would actually love the food- though he was kind of worried what she had put into it because he wasn't looking.

note: to answer your first questions 1) i am ✨on my seasonal depression shit and i actually am going to a clinic for a check up tomorrow✨ and 2) if i was amazing i would not be sad and frustrated rn 😆

i do hope that your research goes well! why is product development a big thing in filipino curriculums tho- i coulda sworn that i've heard at least some of my filo peers (friends) talk to me about product development. but i hope you're doing alright bb! 💓
