#you're making 'do not repost' harmful for artists to say

Today in the ongoing death of twitter: retweets are now reposts.
Excuse me while I put on my tinhat, but I suspect that making it harder to distinguish between sharing others' creative work and stealing it is more of a feature than a bug as far as the creatively bankrupt AI hyping Mxskrats are concerned.

Ok people. Real talk for a second. Cause I am genuinely pissed off.
Stop. Reposting. Other’s. Art.
Save it all you want, but stop saving it or screenshoting it and then resposting it (especially without crediting the original artist).
You may think to yourself “oh, I’m just one person so what harm could it do?” and let me ask you this.
How many other people do you think have thought the same thing? That they are just one person resposting another person’s hard work thinking that it won’t have any kind of effect on anyone? Thinking “oh, this is only for me and maybe my friends”. Or “this will give the artist EXPOSURE so it’s fine” (which makes no sense when you don’t CREDIT them and no one can figure out who the artist IS).
Because let me tell you, I have seen what having three or eight or DOZENS of people reposting or liking and sharing reposts of an artist’s work does to some artists. Yeah, some are going to say “meh, I don’t really care” and brush it off. But that’s not every artist.
I have seen artists completely stop posting art online because seeing people take their art and share it without bothering or caring to share who made it makes them feel like ya’ll don’t actually give a shit about them. You only care about what they can make and how you can take it for yourself. I have seen other artists give up on art entirely because they genuinely feel like it’s pointless to keep drawing and sharing at all because it will all just get taken anyway and no one cares who the original creator is.
So why bother making more?
Do ya’ll WANT artists to stop sharing their work for you to see and appreciate?
Because taking it and reposting it is going to make some artists stop sharing their work entirely. Reposting art only does two things: momentary gratifaction for yourself and hurting artists.
And if you are so selfish that knowing your actions hurt other people, emotionally or financially or otherwise, doesn’t get through to you to make you understand that what you're doing fucking sucks then…
Congratulations.
Hope ya like looking at nothing in the future.
And just use the fucking reblog button IT IS RIGHT THERE. THAT'S WHAT IT IS FOR. TO SHARE ART. WITHOUT REPOSTING IT. WHERE PEOPLE CAN SEE CREDIT.
DAMN IT.

GUESS WHAT WE GOT ANOTHER REPOSTER.
Tumblr media
You know, i came onto tumblr really excited to share this dumb doodle comic i did, now i just feel gross. Because this was reposted on an app i do not have an account for and I cannot contact them via there, I’m posting this here, so sorry to y’alls who just trying to have a good time, some people just have trouble being half-decent ig
I was not contacted by this person or asked in any way shape or form to use my art on their account. They do not credit or mention me (not that that would make this any better) and I do NOT want my stuff on tiktok.
To this person, this is your one and only warning:
Take. My. Art. Down. Now.
You have reposted my art, my mutuals art, my friends art and even my siblings art. What you are doing is harmful to me and to my friends. This is disgusting and disheartening ESPECIALLY seeing my art used in such a way that makes me EXTREMELY uncomfortable and I am sick and tired of seeing this.
Think I’m being harsh? my art has been stolen and reposted and used without my permissions dozens of times and I am getting sick and tired of it. I want to be patient and kind but that’s kind of difficult when i see others not only harming me but also my friends livelihoods and incomes by stealing their art like this. And it is disgusting to see you use a minor’s art the way you did. To you it’s nothing more than a few minutes of posting and a couple of likes. To the artist you take it form it means the difference between a meal and going to bed hungry.
To anyone else who has reposted art in the past or are considering doing so now, DO NOT. It is harmful and cruel and while you’re laughing about the edits you use my art in, I, the creator, and sitting here sick to my stomach and considering never posting again because of your behaviour. I’ve got to wonder if you care about the people you consume content for at all? because from where I’m sitting you look selfish, inconsiderate and cruel.
If you want to support an artist, REBLOG THEIR STUFF. SHARE LINKS. TELL PEOPLE ABOUT THIS COOL COMIC AND LINK THEM BACK TO THE SOURCE. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES REPOST WITHOUT AN ARTISTS PERMISSION OR KNOWLEDGE. Ask if you’re wondering if you can use art in a tribute or edit. Credit them if they say yes. If they say no, be respectful of the creator you like and find something else to use or better yet, make your own.
to all my good followers, I love you guys, and thanks for having my back. I really appreciate your support and kindness as I create and deal with this kind of stuff.
I’m not sure what i’m going to do about this aside from this post, and i really don’t want to make an account for this, hopefully if the reposter has any decency they’ll take down all the stolen art and stop doing this and i won't have to.
For the time being, I’m not feeling real great, aside from being angry about this, I feel sick, so I won’t be sharing that comic I was going to post. I’m really sorry anyone who wanted to see my stuff is suffering from the actions of this person. Maybe I’ll feel better in a couple weeks or so, but for the time being I’m gonna continue being mostly offline.
~knox
Edit (July 3 2022): as of today the reposter has taken my art down and a lot of the other reposted work down and posted an apology to me and one other artist they reposted from (they reposted the work of at least six other artists) due to some other issues that I will not be specifying I have blocked them. Again, please don't harass this person if you recognize them. Or any reposters or people who demonstrate bad behavior. Letting people know reposting is harmful is one thing, but attacking them and rentelessly chasing them off their socials is another. Thanks guys hope you're all having a stellar day o7

✧ lars barriga headcanons :
falling in love with a hybrid half-gem half-human reader who is courageous but a little silly (gn reader) pt. 1
Tumblr media
- One night during the wrestling matches held in Beach City, you had caught Lars’ eye when chairs had started to fly around as things got crazy and you had quickly stepped in to use your gem powers to protect anyone from getting hurt
- He was one of the people you saved from harm — watching you save even more people, with admiration in his eyes, he couldn’t help but feel fascinated by your courage
- You turned around for a brief moment and saw him, and as you two made eye contact, you saw the stars in his eyes, which made you feel more confident and you smiled, content with yourself
- As time went by, he started observing you from afar and he really wanted to go up to you and talk to you since you seemed so cool — and even the cool kids that thought so too, you had found yourself being close with Jenny and the others
- You and Lars had your first actual conversation during his closing shift at the Big Donut, you had a long, exhausting day and wanted to treat yourself to some donuts, but when you showed up, you had found him closing up shop since it was late at night
- When you realized, you begged Lars to open up again for a second so you could get a donut, swearing that it’ll be really fast — but he apologized awkwardly and said everything was already powered off
- You were disappointed and was about to just walk home and see what you could eat there, but then Lars pulled out a bag of donuts he got and insisted you should take one — or as many as you want — from him
- You looked at him, surprised, and took one. When you took a bite, you felt so much more relieved and at ease after the long day you just had. You thanked Lars, and he nervously said it was cool
- He brought it upon himself to start a conversation with you, and you talked about what happened at the wrestling match, he made a few jokes that made you laugh and you told him things that made him even more intrigued by you
- You and him eventually got to know each other better, and at first he was a little bit intimidated by your powers, but as he got to understand it and it’s purpose more, he found himself even more drawn to you
- Being half-human and half-gem makes you unique, but you've never let that stop you from living your life to the fullest — your kind, silly, and brave personality has always drawn people to you, and Lars is no exception. He loves how you're always up for trying new things and never back down from a challenge
- You both have a mutual love for music and enjoy discovering new artists together, enjoying and exploring Beach City and discovering new gems and magical beings is something you love to do and you constantly insist on him coming with you, however he says he’s too busy with worth, although it’s mainly because he’s too scared to go on gem-related missions
- So you find yourself going with Steven and some of the other Crystal Gems, which you are still happy to because with your passion and powers, you can surely help protect the Earth and keep others from harm. And who wouldn’t want to be Steven Universe’s friend?
- Over time, Lars fell in love with you. He admired your strength and your willingness to stand up for what you believe in — Lars loved how you always found the silver lining in difficult situations and how you were always ready to lend a helping hand
Tumblr media
a/n : there needs to be more lars content guys!!! he’s so silly and I wanna see some lars requests too yk 🤭 anyways pt. 2 of dating hcs coming soon

𝕎𝕖𝕝𝕔𝕠𝕞𝕖 𝕥𝕠 𝕞𝕪 𝕓𝕝𝕠𝕘!
I am a fantasy artist and writer based in the USA. This blog is mostly for my art and for sharing others' art. Sometimes, I'll post writings, musings, or theories about a work of fiction that I think warrants some in-depth analysis. I don't have any separate blogs, as I don't see the point in making them. I struggle with a lot of mental health conditions, so I'm really unstable but congenial. Hope you don't mind! Trust me, I am no threat to the public at large! I love making others laugh and smile, so why not just laugh at me, with me? The subject of this blog is primarily art and writing. I do not repost memes if they have nothing to do with either of these two categories.
If you're looking for specific tags, please use this guide:
#my art - Use this tag to filter posts showing only stuff drawn by me
#my writing - Similar to the above but just for writing I've done.
#musings - Random thoughts, journal posts, or ramblings, aka actual "blog" posts.
#merch haul - Posts related to collectibles I've obtained that I want to share with others.
#not my art - Filter posts to only show art I've reblogged by other people.
You can find me in a few other locations, but I'm only going to list my active ones here.
DeviantArt: https://www.deviantart.com/taralen For most of my completed pieces. The only sketches you'll find here are for clients who commissioned sketchy pieces.
Myfigurecollection: https://myfigurecollection.net/profile/Taralen For my figure and hobby-related stuff (doujin, merch, etc.) I sometimes build my own figures (aka Garage Kits.) I've been collecting valuables since I was a kid, so you can consider me an experienced collector. Have questions to avoid getting scammed? I'm the one to poke!
Pixiv: https://www.pixiv.net/en/users/3540237 [[JP Only. Also 18+ but censored.]]
Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/taralen Uncensored 18+ options, Hi-res versions, process compilations, and original pieces (usually concept art) I don't upload publicly.
Discord: [[Private]] I love meeting new people, but I would rather speak to someone privately on here first before I share this. I'm extremely chatty, so be warned!
Twitter/X: https://twitter.com/Taralen I'm the least active on here, but I might as well include it.
DNI IF YOU: Nothing offends me. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) JK I am a very curious and open-minded person. If you have views that don't align with mine, we might not have the best conversation, but it can certainly be an enlightening or interesting one! What are my views? Well, we learn these things from each other through polite conversation. Exposing myself to different lifestyles and opinions is enriching. Who knows? Even a hateful individual might change their mind when speaking to someone with kindness and understanding. I'm open to being followed, messaged, etc., by just about anyone, even people who I vehemently disagree with, UNLESS: ❎ You've committed or condoned acts of animal, child, elderly, or disabled person abuse/assault. We don't need slimes like that anywhere. Anyone that harms real innocents is a piece of human scum, regardless of whether or not they fit the categories I listed. ❎ You're just trying to sell some sex service to me. Sorry, but I am not interested. ❎ Condone or committed acts of necrophilia on deceased humans or animals. Seriously, what the $%^& is wrong with you? ❎ You are a stalker. Kind of obvious, but I had one in the past, so don't act like I forgot. 8^)
If you have similar interests, feel free to message me or ask me questions. I am lonely, so it's nice to talk to new people now and then. If you think my ideas, "headcanons," or interpretations are stupid, then that's fine. I don't expect everyone to like them. It is what it is.
Any and all reblogs are appreciated. If you repost my stuff like, say, on Reddit, please give credit and link back to the source, whether it be here or somewhere else. I always like seeing my work shared.

Ok so first of all. My main man you do understand you can’t claim you actually made the “art” you “made” right? It’s AI generated.
“If it's created by AI, nobody can claim ownership of it or copyright it”
That’s law dude. You didn’t make any of the “art” your showing off. Anyone can come post it anywhere and claim it with no repercussions because quite literally. NO ONE MADE IT. It was made by AI. A robot. Not even the company can claim it because it was their bot that made it. Not them.
Lastly 👀💦 and this is no like jab to you at all but. Why not just draw or write this stuff yourself? It’ll always come out 1000% better than AI no matter what level you’re starting at. I mean dude. Ai can hardly render hands or complexity 90% of the time. Not to say I can either but like 👀 bro. Plus it always looks… the same. Like you can pose things however you want but it’ll always have that ai sheen to it ya know. No real heart or soul to it. You’re literally feeding a bot when there are so many artists out there that can be benefiting from this that would be willing to put everything they had into it (shading, dynamic posing, lighting, backgrounds,) for a few dollars or experience if you know them and ask nicely enough.
hello, good evening! ^^
yes, you are totally right. it's wrong for someone to claim rights over something an AI did, specially if it's supposed to look like art or a drawing.
however, i never did that. you probably saw my pinned post or the watermarks i started adding to the images, and I suppose that's why you sent me this, but just to clarify things, i do not care at all if people repost those ai images. like, I really don't. I've seen them being reposted countless times, specially on pinterest and i don't claim to have "created" them. all i said I did was write a prompt and the ai generator did all on its own. I made that very clear more than once.
I had an issue with that one specific creator I talked about on my pinned post because they were doing exactly what you're saying, they were claiming to have spent HOURS working on those "edits". they even said that I STOLE them. and when I confronted them, I made it clear that those were made in seconds.
and that's exactly why I started adding the watermarks. I didn't wanna do it in first place as I've said before, but it really pisses me off, you know? when someone tries to get clout for something that they didn't do. the watermarks prevent that from happening again, since they make it clear that it's ai generated. I mean, it literally says "made by ai".
also, i understand the issue regarding all that ai art thing, i really do. but those images are not made off art tho... you can tell they are realistic, since (as long as I know) the ai used real images (of real people, taken by cameras) that are available on internet. I'm also very against those ai arts too, that's why I never post any art looking images (or even if they're slightly artsy) that the ai generates from time to time, because I'm very aware that they steal from artists. I mean, i'm an artist myself. I'm not "feeding" a bot because... it feeds itself.
when I started posting the images, i was just trying to have some fun and share it with the fandom, I don't benefit from this at all. i mean no harm, and honestly, it's not that serious. if you don't like how it looks, well, you can block the hashtag "ai" (I always tag my ai images posts with it) and you won't see it again. you can even block me if it's not the type of content you're interested in, no hard feelings at all. anyways here's a screenshot that shows that I never took any credit for any of the images:
Tumblr media
well, I hope you have a great day, and thanks for addressing this issue. it's very important to talk about that. ❤️❤️❤️

You know... seeing when people repost artwork and Instead of directly crediting the og artist or even saying who made it just say "artwork isn't mine" "credit to their respective owners" n such. It hurts me aaugh
(Worse thing is if you repost art and not say you didn't make it or lie about it being yours.... you will be missing bones i stg)
Tumblr media
pleasee please actually take time to credit artists correctly 😭 it really harms them if you don't. if you really want to help them be seen by more people CREDIT THEM IN FULL! Add a link to wherever they post from! if you're on the same platform as them add their username!
Or better yet! Reblog/Retweet their art or whatever instead of reposting!! And if you can't do that just post a link to the artwork!
And one last thing! let it be known that not all artists appreciate their works being reposted elsewhere! So please do ask before you repost their art anywhere.

pinned info post
I'm Misha (any pronouns; he/him preferred), young adult. I'm a queer Russian artist and writer. Probably neurodivergent as well. This is my main blog.
I have a sideblog called crossroadsofchaos where I make original posts about my OCs and my fandoms, including art, writing, edits, simple text posts, etc. Originally the blog was strictly OC-centric, but as of May 13, 2024, I also decided to move my original fandom posts there (previously they were on this blog). I will still reblog things from it here, but it won't be every single post.
For my original stuff, the universe it's set in consists of our regular world, but with a secret extra island. The characters are human, but some have magic powers.
For fandoms, I just post about TOH, and I have a TOH AU called Retired Leaders AU. It's a "good uncle" type AU, where Belos is a better person. I may also start occasionally making original posts about Dungeon Meshi, as I've gotten into it and I watch the anime.
If you'd like to ask anything, feel free to send an ask! If it's about my OCs, or TOH AU, or anything else like that, I'd prefer if you did it on my other blog, but I'll still answer if you forget and send it here.
Also, feel free to scroll through my "#positivity" tag, I reblog positivity posts sometimes. This includes positivity for people with stigmatized mental illnesses, like Cluster B disorders, OCD, bipolar, etc.
I've started to add image descriptions to images I post, and I try to add them to some of the posts I reblog.
I try to tag triggers, at least ones I'm aware of. The format is "#cw: [thing]", like "#cw: flashing", "#cw: blood" or "cw: violence", and a handful are abbreviated by either simple shortening or use of initials like "#cw: sui mention", "#cw: ed mention", "#cw: sa mention" or "#cw: csa mention". If there's anything you'd like me to tag, feel free to ask.
Also, I try to tag posts like "reblog this if you think x", "good luck posts" and other stuff like that with "#reblog bait", and generally try not to even reblog them in the first place these days.
Note: fundraisers for Palestine, Sudan, Democratic Republic of the Congo, and others that ask for reblogs won't get the "reblog bait" tag due to being serious causes rather than opinion posts, and I'd feel bad calling them "bait".
If you'd like to completely avoid any posts that ask for or demand reblogs, filter phrases like "please reblog" in your settings.
A few more things:
Do not repost/reupload my work or any other artist's work without permission. And get that permission before posting, instead of posting and saying you'll remove it if they ask. Ask for permission, and if they say no, or they don't reply, don't post it.
I support good faith queer identities. Gender and orientation are complex, and trying to force them into a few non-overlapping rigid boxes won't do us any good. And people using "weird" labels is not the cause of our continued oppression. As long as you're not doing cultural appropriation (like using culture-specific identities from cultures you aren't a part of), or using bigoted terms like "super straight/gay" (terms made by transphobes to say they aren't into trans people), or doing anything else harmful like that, you're fine.
Please stop reinventing the gender binary with all the "nonmen/nonwomen" and "tme/tma" stuff. The latter terms are also intersexist, and this post explains why. And I'd recommend reading this post by another intersex person as well.
Apparently some people still believe this, but no, the ocean gay flag was not created by a transphobe or trans.med/tru.scum, a proposed gay flag design was reposted by a trans.med without credit, making it seem like they made it. Here's the original creator talking about it. The updated/current version was made by gayflagblog, here's their post explaining the stripe meanings. If you don't like the flag, that's fine, but you don't need to "justify" your personal opinion by spreading misinfo that makes it seem like a moral stance.
For fandom people, please, tag your ships. People who like the ship can find your stuff easier, and people who dislike it can filter the tag and avoid it. This includes OC x canon ships (please tag the specific ships as well, not just the general "OC x canon" tag), and x read3r (I'd even say tag any read3r/audience insert tbh, even if it's not ship)
Lastly, gtfo if you treat p3do and inc3st like lighthearted shipping tropes/"tee-hee silly problematic ships" (pr0ship/c0mship/whatever else you call yourselves), I block on sight. You are not carefully exploring a dark subject, you are trivializing and cutesifying said subject, and I don't want you anywhere near my work.

Finished pieces will be posted here and I'll tag you if you include your Tumblr handle.
You're more than welcome to use finished art as a profile picture or banner on Tumblr or other sites, just please include credit back to me.
Please DO NOT repost my art. I may be lenient on this rule, especially if it was YOUR paid prompt, but please ask before hand. I have Twitter and Instagram, but I'm not as active. Feel free to ask me to upload if I haven't already so you can share on those sites. :3
Please DO NOT edit or filter my art. :( If you wanna color my line art feel free to ask!
You CAN reference my art/concepts for fanfics or your own art, but please DO NOT trace. :( You obviously don't need to credit me for using concepts, that's up to you, but I'd always love to see what you made! :D

I'm really sorry to hear about your art getting reposted!
Is it okay if I ask if you are not scared you'll lose fans over calling somebody out who loves your work enough to repost it?
Would you be okay with reposts that include credit, or is it never okay to repost?
It is always okay to ask questions!
I love that people want to learn!
And thanks, I'm feeling better today!
Am I scared of losing fans?
Not really. The person who I called out had an account purely of reposted art, none of which had given credit and AI art. People who do this do not respect artists, thereby do not respect me. Thereby, I do not consider them a fan. Plain and simple.
If these are the people who stop following me over calling out harmful behaviour towards artists, GOOD. I don't want those people here.
And maybe they do love my work, but loving somebody's work does not justify TAKING it. And if they believe this is the case, again, I'd rather lose them.
Reposting with credit?
Some artists will allow reposting with credit.
Personally... Ask me.
Send me a PM.
"Hey, love this piece, mind if I post it on pinterest with credit for my inspo board?"
I will probably say yes. Or maybe I already posted it there and can you send you the link to pin!
For me this is fine, it's fanart, I'd love for more people to see it! But I want to be able to see the feedback on my work. If you post something even with credit and I don't know, it's a small minority of people who will bother to come back to tumblr. Most will comment on the repost and that is all feedback, I, as the artist, miss out on.
I have writing advice of mine from back when I posted on @deardragonbook all over the internet, and there are hundreds upon hundreds of comments I never will get to read because I can't track down every repost of my work. It makes me sad. The fact my work was consistently taken without my permission is why I stopped posting there. I took time to put those posts together, so it hurt to have it taken.
To this day there is less feedback on original posts than there are on reposts on Instagram that gave credit but often did not inform me, the original creator.
A lot more artist than people realise are tired of this dynamic. And it leads to burnout.
It leads to less art, less writing...
I know I'm kinda repeating stuff from previous posts. Sorry if this is boring, but it is important!
An artist takes time to create a piece, that time leads to not being able to compete with accounts that just repost. Which leads to artists being left out of the conversations to do with their art.
I don't know what the solution is; I do know I'm going to fight for the right to keep my own art.
(Also a quick note REPOST and REBLOG are not the same, re-blogging is perfect because it shares art and posts without ever separating the artist from the art! Tumblr has an amazing system that I cannot praise enough and wish people would understand more!)
EXTRA ADDED HAPPY INFO!
The reposted art that got me talking about this whole thing had been taken down! By pinterest, so that's great.
It's always nice when social media sites are fast and effective with their intellectual property protections. And if you're an artist going through this same strife and wondering, is it worth filling out the form... Yeah! It's quick, and it works.

Get a life, people can draw things however they like. Absolutely nothing gives you the right to tell other people how to make their art. When you do something original instead of just reposting other people's stuff, then maybe you can have an opinion. I just hope its not as stupid as the last one you posted.
You're so right, I can't force people what to draw, or how to draw, or whether they can draw a fat brown man skinny and white!
But
You or any other racist piece of shit can't tell me not to complain or say what I think. And what I think is that it's bullshit that a skilled artist can't pick the right fucking skin color of a brown person.
Also, I'm a fanfic writer, so I do original work (as original as a fan artist), more than you probably do. And I don't harass these people, unlike you, who won't even come off anon.
I don't give a fuck who you are, no one will bully you like you're being a dickhead to me and every other POC fan right now, because I'm just a random blog who thinks the tolerance of this racist bullshit from white fans is fucking ridiculous at this point. Why try to start shit with me? Are you twelve? Get a life and stop bothering POC fans who aren't bothering you.
Anyway: call out artists who whitewash, or at least tell them what they're doing and how it's harmful! Stop tolerating racism/fatphobia in fanart!

hii, do you think tumblr/staff is actively trying to discourage gifmaking? i feel like a lot of the changes tumblr has made or try to implement, put gifmakers at a disadvantage and they must be aware of this. and yet... idk if this has already been talked about but it's the feeling i get
hi, and yeah i have seen a lot of gifmakers talk about feeling this way lately, so you're definitely not alone! i'm not gonna lie, it's crossed my mind a few times. staff's decisions in recent years (most notably, their attempts to convert gifs to mp4s and now this whole beta editor bullshit) primarily impact gifmakers and our processes, and we've made so many attempts to tell them why these decisions negatively affect gifmaking, but they don't seem to give a fuck and ignore us entirely. one can't help but feel like it's not a coincidence that the majority of their "updates" harm gifmakers and other artists the most.
i don't know if staff is actively trying to "discourage" gifmaking - i just don't think they care about gifmakers at all. gifmakers are already becoming discouraged due to declining engagement and increased reposting, and staff's changes are only making us even more discouraged - so it ultimately only makes staff look worse in their user's eyes. all i really can say with confidence is that it's wildly frustrating to see a website filled with so many talented people consistently get taken advantage of, while staff looks the other way and continues to fix things that were never broken. they're fiddling around with stupid aspects of the site that don't need to be improved (aka if it ain't broke, don't fix it) and ignore genuinely irritating and demotivating aspects of their interface like porn bots, community labels, spam, anon hate, reposters, etc.
it's hard enough to go through the trouble of making gifs as it is (particularly when the objectively true sentiment that "reposting is wrong" is still controversial for some people apparently), and staff's bullshit changes only makes things much more difficult. and unfortunately, a significant proportion of tumblr users continue to steal gifs and/or refuse to reblog our work. it's shitty that gifmakers keep this site going, but a majority of non-gifmakers fail to adequately support us and speak up in solidarity with us, so of course these changes will continue to happen because there isn't enough pushback. i could definitely go on more about this, but i'll just sum it up by saying i totally get where you're coming from, and your feelings are 100% valid! i love making gifs and being part of the amazing community of gifmakers on this site, but i won't lie when i say it's becoming increasingly tedious and draining to make gifs on a site that feels largely unappreciative of what gifmakers do to keep it alive.

this is gonna be long so i'll split it into two
part 1: on reposting
1- if you're not sure if it's the original artist, just check their other posts to see if the styles match if you're still not sure, don't post it
2- 'all credits to the artist' doesn't mean anything bc people don't know who that 'artist' is
3- mentioning pinterest also doesn't mean much, pinterest didn't draw these artworks and everything there is mostly reposts
4- these twitter artists can't contact you because a) they don't have tumblr (they might not even know what tumblr is) b) they don't know english
majority of artists don't like their art reposted, in fact some of them stop posting entirely/lock their accs/delete all their art because people keep reposting against their wishes
if you really can't find the original artist then it's better not to post it at all and to keep it in your group of friends or something, when you post it on tumblr it'll just keep getting spread around, continuing the problem
a lot of artists will say if they allow reposts or not in their bio or in a profcard link etc and if they don't say reposts are allowed/not allowed, then don't repost it
you can use google translate or deepL if there's a language barrier
unfortunately reposting without permission IS discrediting, i hope you understand, i don't want wonderful artists to stop drawing wonderful art like this it's disheartening if ppl keep using your intellectual property without your permission especially when you said it's not allowed
1/2
Thank you @aliriien so much for teaching me this. I understand that i made a mistake that can discourage and dishearten the artists who truly spend so much effort and time into creating such beautiful arts. (∩_∩)
I apologize for this and i hope this mistake harmed anyone's feelings as i too do not want the wonderful artists to stop posting or getting discouraged to post because of my inconsiderate actions.
Next time i want to post anything, I'll be sure to credit the artists (only if they allow reposts) or else I'll refrain from posting.
I've said this before (and people may think I'm using this as an excuse) but im new to using such social medias and as such am not aware of rules and norms. So I'd be grateful if others can point my mistakes if i make them and guide me so i don't discourage others and come across as rude or anything like that.
I'll take down the maid poll immediately. And can you please help me find the artists of the arts in my other posts? If they can't be found or do not allow reposts, i will take them down as well.
On this note, can you tell me how do i post a link as a word or two? So that the posts don't show the entire link. I've tried it before but it always ends up showing the entire link.
Thanks♪(・ω・)ノ~♡

A/N: I hope you all enjoy part 1/4 of my pieces for day four of the anniversary collab for the @konoblog-simps. You can find all the lovely pieces for the day here! Today’s theme was song pieces, and its full of angst. My heart broke after this piece. 😩 Izaya just deserves love. I’ll be spanning my four pieces throughout the next couple of hours so stay turned. You can find all the days of the collab here!
For the best experience listen to the song while reading the piece. The song title and artist have the link for he music video. 😊
Pairing: Izaya x fem!Reader
Song Choice: Without Me by Chvse
Warnings: alcohol consumption, angst, violence
Word Count: 1.7k
Izaya had never felt this kind of pain before. This man had been beaten senseless, stabbed, and everything in between, but nothing had ever really hurt him as much as heartbreak did. He had been the one to end things, but that was only because he didn’t want to put you in danger anymore. He didn’t want to be the thing that ended your life. But that didn’t stop the thoughts from roaming his head.
“And I don't want nobody else but you
You the girl in my dreams every night
You the reason that I let the sun come through”
You had been the best thing in his life, but he had let his life come in between that. He hadn’t wanted harm to come to you. But just that had happened. All this dealing with the Yakuza had made them take you hostage. They wanted to make him hurt.
So when he had finally gotten you back from them. When he had finally gotten you settled at home he had left, running away with nothing but a note on your nightstand. He couldnt’ bear to tell you to your face that you were better off without him.
You were in his dreams every night since then. Your face haunted every single thought that he had. He told himself day after day that he had to move on, but he couldn’t do that. He wanted you, nobody else.
His thoughts always went back to the countless mornings that you would wake up and roll over to tell him the same thing every time. “You’re the reason that I open those blinds every morning, Izaya.” You’d smile and climb over him, straddling his lap and pressing soft kisses to his cheek. “You’re the reason that I let the sun come through. You’re my light.”
Those words were on repeat in his head. He reached for the beer bottle on his coffee table and took a sip, tightening his grip around the bottle as he fought back the urge to let a tear loose.
“Girl, I'm sorry for the things that I've done
Always starting shit and put you in a dumb mood
Always pushing you away, but I pushed too hard
Now you're gone, what a dumb move
'Cause you're the person I'mma run to”
Izaya’s work had always gotten in the way of your relationship, but you had tried hard not to let that bother you. He knew how hard you tried to ignore it. That didn’t stop him from feeling horrible about it. He had tried to push you away some, despite how much he always regretted himself for it after. He wanted you to make the decision on your own.
He would get angry when you questioned him about when he was going to spend some time with you. He tried to understand where you came from, but his work was his life and he wanted nothing more than to succeed. He wanted to make a better life for not only himself but for you as well. He had gone about that wrong.
His anger would always put you in horrible moods. And when you had left him the first time he should have left you alone.
When you had finally decided that enough was enough he should have left it at that. But something inside him said that he had to have you back. He just couldn’t let you get away. He loved you too much.
You were always the person that he ran to when he needed help. You were the person that he always leaned on. And now you were gone.
“Look, I understand why you had to leave
'Cause I was treating you so bad, that your family
Could see through the fake smile that you had with me
I wish you didn't go, but also know you had to leave”
Izaya had heard the words that your family always spoke. He heard the conversations on the other line. You had been sure that the phone speaker wasn’t loud enough, but he heard them say that you needed to move on.
You would object to their statements. You always did, but he knew that deep down you would think for a long time about them.
They would say that you always seemed like the feelings you had weren’t real. They called your smiles fake and said that you only did them to fool the family. You only wanted them to think that you were truly happy.
Izaya wished that he hadn’t pushed you away that first time, but he knew that it needed to be done. He understood why you had left, but his heart wanted you to be with him.
“'Cause I was toxic, found a way to talk shit
Accusing you of things you didn't do, I know I'm not shit
So leaving me to better you, is better than the option
To stick around with me, I just hate that I caused it
I hate that I caused it”
Izaya had done nearly everything to push you away the first time. He was toxic. He was rude. He played every game he could think of. Izaya even went as far as accusing you of being unfaithful.
He claimed that you had found yourself in the arms of one of his enemies.
So you chose to leave. You told Izaya that you needed to better yourself. You needed to get away. You weren’t going anywhere or doing anything with your life being with him.
You were beginning to see that sticking around with him was the worst option.
He hated that he made you feel that way, but he couldn’t do anything about how he felt about himself. He hated that he had wanted to put you in that position. But you would have been better off without him.
“'Cause I don't wanna hurt you
But I know I will
And I'm looking for the reason
For the way I feel
I didn't wanna lose you
But if I'm being real
Then you're better off without me”
He could feel himself slipping away from you and that’s when he knew that he needed to do what he did. He knew that eventually he would hurt you worse than he had ever wanted too. Worse than just heartbreak.
But Izaya never truly understood why he felt that way. He didn’t know why he knew that he would hurt you. He just knew.
So in the note that he left you on your nightstand he said “You’re better off without me.”
And it was the worst thing he had ever written in his life. The worst thing he had ever said to someone. And he truly meant it. No one could change his mind. Your life meant more to him than his own.
“I never really fell in love until I met you
'Cause that day out at the cabin, I felt something special
3 a.m, vibing, drinking beer on the couch
Remember? I was scared to even cuddle with you”
Flashbacks of how you met filled his head, another swig from the beer bottle filled his throat. The small feeling of forgetting starting to take over. That’s all he wanted to do. These memories were too painful.
When you had come to the cabin with a couple of friends of his and they had introduced you, he hadn't expected to be obsessed. But he was.
Everyone had gone to sleep, the two of you had been the only ones left in the living room, and he had never been more nervous in his life.
You hadn’t hidden your attraction to him. You made it very obvious in the hours after you had met.
You had looked at the clock as you both drank the last of the beers that were sitting on the small coffee table. Three in the morning. The fire burned in the fireplace and your laughs filled the room.
Izaya couldn’t remember the last time he had felt this way. The last time he had truly felt love.
Izaya had never been as nervous as he was right now. He was normally the tough guy. He had never had a problem showing affection for a woman he liked. But you were different.
You noticed his hesitation and went in yourself. Before you could even stop yourself, your body moved. You straddled his hips and pushed him back into the couch. Your lips pressing together as Izaya placed his hands on your hips. His fear almost instantly watching away.
“My heart's breaking 'cause I love you and I miss you
I'm thinking about the times where I'd cuddle and I'd kiss you
But I understand that I got a lot of issues
I just hope you know that it ain't easy to forget you”
Izaya shook his head, trying to get the memory to leave him. “Fuck.” He grasped the bottle tighter in his hand and down the last swig. “I miss her.”
Before he even realized what was happening the bottle soared from his hand, a scream leaving him at the same time.
A light switched on in the hallway and a figure appeared in the doorway of the living room. Namie had a sleepy, puzzled look on her face as she checked on her boss. “Izaya?”
Izaya rubbed his eyes and gave her a weak smile. “Everything’s fine Namie. Go back to bed.”
She gave him a worried look before turning back to head to her room. She knew better than to push Izaya when he was like this.
“I just-“ His voice was a whisper as he picked up his phone. He didn’t want to say anything else and have Namie come back out.
Izaya opened his messages, his finger instinctively finding your name and typed out a message he had never meant to send. Alcohol made him hit that button and made him throw his phone across the room after.
So when your phone lit up and you opened the message, your heart broke for him.
Izaya 💞 2:36am
I miss you so fucking much.

Reposters, and a thread on why they are more harmful than anything especially on Instagram
First off, let's put the bases down: what is a reposter? A reposter is someone (usually on Instagram) who will take a screenshot of the art and repost it on their page, crediting or not the original artist. Their page will so contain only artwork that isn't from them, and will add captions to fit their theme.
So, how is harmful?
Because unlike what you might think, it doesn't bring any attention to the artist. Nor help them grow in popularity. What they are doing is stealing likes and popularity on the back of artists to fit their theme because they usually don't want to draw and are a roleplay account, and like to repost art they see on Pinterest.
The artist barely get any view from this, actually. Because a majority of people finding the post of the reposter won't bother following the artist and just like and follow the reposter and thus, not giving the views to the original artist.
Reposters also may not credit, or may not want to credit the artist because of laziness, usually, or because they think crediting the rightfully creator the art they stole and reposted is wrong and that they are in their right.
A small example of this.
Here the first picture is from a repost account I took completely randomly from the eddsworld hashtag. You can see it has a lot of attraction. The account is near 10k which is quite a lot. They took the time to add credit, which is a good thing, but it won't sadly solve the biggest issue.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Which is that the original artist has half the views and interaction as the original post. Which is very alarming, don't you think?
(Art rightfully owned by the talented @dditjmej , and I really ask you to follow and support their content if you appreciate it)
Tumblr media
This is the biggest problem about repost, the reposter gets more interaction than the artist and the artist only has a small portion of the reposter's followers that will actually like the original post. Because why bother following each artist when there's someone stealing art and reposting it for you to like on the platform you're on?
People might say that it is necessary to bring art on other medias than only the original one where the artist post, but if you really liked and supported the artist you would promote their page and invite people to follow them on the platform, not repost it.
This is literally like website stealing content from small creators and making money off of them and still saying "But we are crediting! We are doing nothing wrong!" It doesn't help the artist and actually harm them more than anything.
And I will add that some artists don't want to see their art reposted or don't want to see it on internet anymore for any reason, and reposters, often finding it by Pinterest and not caring, will repost it anyway and be even more wrong because they clearly went against the artist's will, and you cannot pretend you support someone while going against what they say.
This is the end of the thread, and for those who read it til here, I hope it taught you something, if you already didn't know.

I'm about to start my own (twst) writing blog and I'm going around writers that I follow for some advice q*q could you give me any wisdom on what I should do when starting a writing blog? thank you!! I love your works and you're one of the writers that inspire me
Aa thank you baby I'm so happy to hear that I inspire you!! First off, good luck with the new writing blog! I'm glad that more authors are joining the fandom and wish you all the best with your works! 💞💖💞 Other than trying to keep your blog organized by creating a proper masterlist, choosing a suitable aesthetic, having a set of rules and making sure to tag all of the warnings and necessary mentions (gender of reader, n/sfw or trigger warning), I tried to come up with some useful advises that might help!
1) Keep up the great confidence!
First and the most important thing about a writing blog, is to be confident and strong. Look, you shouldn't be afraid of posting your works and sharing with the redt of the fandom, even as they're not as perfect as you want them to be. The more you write, the more you learn! And you'd grow to be better and better as you continue to share your works! Not even the greatest authors had been any perfect on their first days!
2) If you're accepting requests, try to set a limit
Being overwhelmed with asks is never pleasant, if you just open your inbox to face 500 requests you'd be to be terrified and confused and even lose your passion to work on any of them because of the stress and not knowing where to begin from. Try to set a limit based on your personal limits, how many requests do you think you can have at the time without stressing out because of how much they are? 10? 20? 50? 100? 200? Doesn't matter! If you feel like you're fine with huge numbers like 200 and 150, it's totally fine! If not, remember that setting a character limit would not only reduce the possible chance of stressing out and overwhelming anxiety but it'll also help you manage your inbox better and easier! You can start taking requests again just as soon as your inbox in cleared!
3) Try to treat yourself every once in a while!
Working on requests can be tiring and sometimes, boring. It's great if you enjoy working on requests no matter what they are but remember to write for your own pleasure every once in a while too!
Even if you have like 100 requests laying in your inbox, feel free to write self indulgent fics or something that you'd like to write even if it's super odd an irrelevant to your normal writings! Remember that you deserve to read something you enjoy just as much as the others do, so don't forget to bless yourself with that beautiful writing of yours ;) Remember that it's your blog, you are free to do everything that makes you happy or anything that you simply enjoy doing ^^
4) Remember that no matter what, toxicity always exists and it's not your fault
Look toxicity is very common to be found social medias, especially platforms like tumblr in which anonymous function exists. Even celebrities and world-famous artists might get attacked over pretty silly stuff every once in a while so it's something usual to happen! I wish you never receive any potentially harmful or rude asks or messages but if you ever do, best would be to block or simply ignore them! People in this platform can be ridiculous sometimes lol, there are people who DM creators just to spam hate and block the creator whom they spammed after wards lol, so don't even bother t waste your time with such people!
If anyone comes to your inbox/DMs/comments to say something harsh or leave a sharp critique, best would be to ignore them. Even if you like to answer or respond to reply to them tey to be chill and not take them seriously. Remember, even if they didn't like your content they could've just scrolled down without bothering to read your work, so if they had the guts to come and spam you with nonsense just because they didn't like your work, it's their fault! They didn't have to read, and it doesn't even matter if they liked your work or not! It's their problem and all, so remember not to let these kind of people get to you at all!
5) Take it easy with writing
Don't push yourself too hard, remember that not everything you write is supposed to be *perfect. This is even more serious when it comes to requests, thousands of unexpected ideas might pop up in your inbox and it makes it quite confusing to choose what to write or do!
First off, don't be any shy or anxious about rejecting the requests which don't follow your rules or come when you aren't accepting requests. Those who violate your rules aren't worthy of your time and work!
Secondly, keep this is mind that you aren't expected to be able to write everything! Sometimes the requests are hard to write, the idea seems odd or hard to understand, or sometimes you just don't feel comfortable or don't want to write it all, which is okay!
You always have the right to take/drop whichever of your requests and you don't owe anyone anything for this, it's your own blog, your work, and your content. Don't ever force yourself to write something which you don't like to write!
6) Your health is always the top priority
Remember that no matter how popular you are, how many followers you have, how many requests are left in your inbox or how much people are wishing to get more of your content, you're free to stop writing and put this wrong at a temporarily (or even permanent) hiatus.
Sometimes you just don't feel like writing, then don't write. If you feel like you're being too busy with work/family/school and anything please don't force yourself to write! Remember that your real life matters always come first!
Also, you might even need a break from writing without necessarily being really busy or sad, sometimes you just need to take a break from everything, and it's totally fine to do! Take as much time as you need and stay healthy during your breaks. It'd be even better if you don't even think of any new ideas/Aus while you're taking a break from writing so you can fully set your mind off stuff! Doesn't even matter if followers/readers are going to appreciate this or not, it's not about them, it's about you. Remember that your good readers/follwers who understand that authors are normal humans and not writing machines would surely understand if you need to take a break too!
7)Keep yourself motivated!
There might be days when you can and have the time to write, but something's holding you back. You feel like procrastinating over and over at some point lose the motivation to write. First off, that's a really normal matter to see as many of us have to struggle with laziness sometimes lol, but there are some useful tips to keep yourself Motamedi and hyped while you're planning to write! A bit of challenge would not only make it a lot more fun, but is also a good way to keep yourself motivated and inspired!
First, try prompt lists! They've always got plenty of useful ideas and inspirational quotes to use and are absolutely amazing to give you new ideas for a writing!
Second, try to challenge yourself by simple stuff like setting yourself word limits, trying to see how much you can write in an hour, use some suggested words in your stories (ex: Banana, train, knife, turkey) as a small challenge! You can also try small events (like milestone or holiday events) to celebrate on your blog with stuff like: Prompt list requests, CYOAs, character interaction and other new stuff that gives you a better motivation tp write instead of just having to work on the same, usual writing requests over and over.
Also, I suggest putting an specific hour for writing/ checking on your blog in your daily schedule as this is also a way of avoiding procrastination, instead of writing 10 requests a day and not writing anything for two weeks, try to set an schedule like writing 1-2 writings everyday! Remember to put your real life activities in the schedule too so you won't have to go through any trouble to find a balance between your real life and running a writing blog!
8) Remember the crediting/copyrights
I'm just adding this here because I can see quite a few of writers using uncredited art for their stories and it's been much and less of an issue lately ^^;
First off, the arts/headers used in your writing. Make sure not to use any uncredited card or anyone else's edit without their permission, otherwise it's nothing different from stealing the work from the original artst!
If you're going to leave a link to the artist, make sure to check on them and check if they allow reposts with credit or not. If they don't, don't use their art. If they do, make sure to give them a proper credit with a link to them! (:
Editors too on the other hand spend a very long time making their edits and and aesthetics, so not copying their work is just as important as not stealing art from the artsits!
Pinterest is filled with uncredited art and if there's a pinterest art who is not linked to the original artist, putting the empty pinterest pin link would be useless and steal counted as stealing art.
9) Stick with your own writing style!
Writing style is like signature, everyone's got their very own and unique writing style. From the way you portray characters to what elements you use as the story develops, you're totally different from each and every of other authors in this fandom!
You may sometimes wonder if your writing style is any good at all while you look at other creators writings and feel the difference, and I gotta say: It doesn't even matter what others are doing! All that is important, is you.
Don't try to change your style to become close another writer's style, your own style is great as it already is! Even if you aren't yet that experienced with writing and feel like your writing could be better, remember that your writing skills will indeed improve as you continue to write and read newer and newer stuff, so don't worry about it!
Each and every writing style has got its own beauty, not everyone may totally enjoy your style at first but and as you continue to write, you'd get to learn what makes people enjoy your writing even more or how you can attract new readers with your writings, your style will change for the better as you write!
Though it's totally fine if you feel like there are writers who inspire and motivate you, remember that you won't have to be them in order to improve! You don't need to be just like them to be great! Even if you do have some issues like being a non-native speaker which can make it quite hard for you to write, you'd automatically learn and have most of your errors fixed as the time passes. I made LOTS of mistakes in my first writings but I hardly ever make any mistakes now because I'm used to it! Though it was a bit late I finally recognized my mistakes and corrected them! And I'd continue to correct more of my mistakes as I continue to write!
10) It's very good to have different writer mutuals
This one is rather optional, just a small recommendation! Though there are many writers who might recommend this as a rather important factor for running a writing blog, I'd say that this isn't necessary as there are still well-known tumblr authors and even twst authors who gained attention to themselves on their own and not with the help and support of any mutuals or writer friends, so it isn't impossible to be successful even without having any mutuals!
The thing with having mutuals is that it makes everything easier. A totally new twst blog can gain around 100 followers on its first without even posting anything more than a writing and a list of rules only because of being supported and boosted by well-known blogs while a for normal blog without any support or boosting, it may take up to 2-3 weeks or even an entire month to gain that 100!
Also, getting to talk with different authors (especially those who are more experienced than you) is motivational and heartwarming, you can feel like you have a team to belong to. You can discuss different writing ideas/issues/blog chores with them and see what they may think. You can even have their support with new ideas if you feel stuck/unmotivated while writing a piece!
I didn't have any mutuals on my first days either and I admit that this made things a bit hard, but it didn't hold me back from continuing to write! Yet I admit that it's surely very useful to have a couple of writer friends around you whom you can share your ideas with! Mutuals support each other, reblog each other's works and give each other a better chance of having their works read by more users, which is quite amazing and helpful!
11) Go for it and don't give up!
Remember that no one, not even the greatest writing blogs have been perfect on their first days. They weren't well-known back then either! And they wouldn't have been any successful today without being hard-working and strong. Leaving up to the previous 10 rules is the hardest part of having a blog, and it's all about not giving up!
Do not try to judge your writing and talents based on the amount of notes your posts get or how many followers you have, because these aren't ever going to show your true worth and talents! But I assure you, if you continue to write even through your hard days, your unmotivated days and your sad days no matter how hard it's supposed to be, everything will change. The more you write, the higher the chance of having new people find and read your works would be! Keeping up the hard work and believing in yourself is the key to achieving anything you may wish for, even having a successful writing blog!
As you continue to write, you'll get more readers, more notes on your posts, more followers and more people who enjoy your content!
Tumblr media
Hope that these are helpful, wish you all the greatest and good luck with your writing blog!!💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞💕💞
