Steve doesn’t realize until they’re already inside that for some reason or another, Eddie’s never been in his room before.
“Is that,” Eddie says. He presses his lips together in a line. “Uh. That looks a lot like…my old guitar.”
Steve winces. “I mean, it’s a Mockingbird, not a Warlock.”
“That’s really creepy,” he says. “You know that, right?” He doesn’t sound mad, but Steve can’t really tell.
“Sorry,” says Steve.
The thing is, it hadn’t felt creepy at the time. He’d wanted to learn to play, and he hadn’t had any idea what kind of guitars were good, and the guy at the store—Antony—had kept asking him questions he didn’t know how to answer about what kind of music he’d be playing and what kind of sound he was looking for.
Finally, Antony had sighed and told him to pick something that he liked the look and feel of. “You gotta have a connection with your instrument, dude,” Antony had said. “Best way to make sure you actually practice enough to get good. Find an instrument you can fall in love with.”
Steve still hadn’t really known what he was looking for, but there was only one guitar on the wall that reminded him of Eddie’s. So Steve had forked over almost a whole month’s wages for a secondhand guitar with sharp angles and a black cherry finish, and then he’d spent the next few years practicing pretty regularly, hooked up to his tiny bedroom amp with his headphones in so the neighbors don’t complain. He doesn’t really perform, but he’s joined in on some jam sessions around Chicago, and he thinks he’s not bad. He’ll never be Eddie, but he’s not bad.
“I haven’t played in ten years,” says Eddie.
And—Steve feels so stupid, then. Obviously they weren’t going to give Eddie a guitar when he was locked up. Probably didn’t even think about it.
“Do you want to?” he says, gesturing to the Mockingbird. He keeps it hooked up to the amp, even though he doesn’t play every day.
Eddie drops to sit cross-legged on the floor by the guitar stand and flutters his fingers across the strings, too light to make them shiver. He closes his hand and drops it back into his lap.
“Nah,” he says. “Rather hear you play something, rockstar.”
So Steve flicks on the amp, and slings the guitar strap over his shoulders before deciding that actually, he can’t do this if he’s standing and Eddie’s looking up at him from the floor. He sits on the bed and tries to decide what to play.
“Any time now,” says Eddie.
Not anything metal. That would feel like crossing a line. Maybe something more like Eddie would expect from Steve, but Steve isn’t sure what Eddie expects from Steve, nowadays. He tries to think: what would Eddie know? What would Eddie think Steve knows?
He starts picking out a few notes in a minor key, because that seems to fit with the unsettled feeling he’s got in his shoulders. He doesn’t have a plan, but he keeps going until it resolves into something he knows the words to, and he starts singing along quietly.
He only realizes how fucked-up it is, the choice he’s made, as he’s singing there never seems to be enough time to do the things you wanna do, once you find ‘em. But he thinks it would be so much worse to stop now, so he has to keep going. He tries his best to just play it, not perform it. Delivers dreams that had never come true like he’s singing about the damn weather report.
When Steve finally looks up, pitch-black tear tracks are smeared across Eddie's cheeks, but he’s not making any effort to cover his face. He's just looking right at Steve, not wearing any particular expression.
“Sorry,” Steve mutters in a low exhale. Seems like he’s always going to be apologizing to Eddie.
“Don’t be.” Eddie sounds almost normal. Maybe a little hoarse. “It’s a good song. You’re, um. A good musician. Got a great voice.”
“Thanks,” says Steve.
“I’ve got to. I’m gonna go wash up,” says Eddie, and leaves.

📣Wish Announcements📣
Ello!! So, since I don’t have an introduction/master post, I will have an announcement post instead!! It’ll work just like an introduction post but with more! It’ll be separated into three sections: events, Q&A, and tags!
Events:
Events works pretty simply, if I’m doing an event or challenge of some sort it’ll be put here so y’all can see what’s happening!
I’m currently doing a “what should I draw?” Challenge where I draw characters I don’t normally draw or haven’t drawn much!
Q&A:
Q&A also works pretty simply, if I notice a question is being asked a lot, no shame at all for asking, it’s just being put here so others will know before they ask and I don’t have to repeat myself 10 times lol. (not including in ask games lol)
(Also, while I don’t have any real questions rn as I’m writing this, I will answer some basic questions so y’all can get to know me!)
1). What do you do? I make art a lot and hope to work on animations soon!
2). Do you take art requests? Yes!! Unless I make an announcement otherwise, my art requests are always open! Tho it might take a little bit to finish, especially if there is an event going on, it will be finished as soon as possible!!
3). Are you open to asks? Also yes!! Asks will be answered as soon as I’m available to answer them!!!
4). What characters have you made? I’m the creator of Wishtale, and Monarch/Butterfly!Sans in the utmv community! And I also have my persona that ironically is also named Wish until I figure out a better name lol! (I’ll add links to my drawings of them when I figure out how to get that to work)
5). What fandom/s are you a part of? I’m a part of a lot of different fandoms, but the one I post the most about is utmv, although I do occasionally talk about fnaf and vocaloids!
6). Do you have any other blogs I should be aware about? Yes!! I have a second blog @wishtale-art!! This is where I post my final drawings, tho wips and other things I don’t want on my art blog will be posted on this blog!
7). What is your sexuality and gender? I’m pansexual and agender!!
8). What pronouns do you go by? I go by any pronouns!!
9). When is your birthday? My birthday is on December 14th!!:3
10). Is there any triggers I should be aware of? Cigarettes and vapes are something I don’t really like to be mentioned because they generally make me angry, idk if that counts or not but pls don’t talk about them to me.

I started very on-brand, writing for a C list character in the HPHM mobile game AND after his extremely brief and small surge of popularity. So needless to say it was a nonexistent fandom.

Oh, Prince Renathal and I are still hanging out daily.
Character(s) you haven't written about before but plan to soon?
Not sure I have one of those. I have no plans after I finish my current series except maybe to finish the AU I hiatused.

World of Warcraft (but only B list characters from the least popular expansion to date because that’s just who I am)
Platonic Pairing(s) you're currently writing?
I suppose Renathal/Theotar, Renathal/Draven both show up in Wend in the Shadows. I wanted to stress Renathal’s desire for, but ultimate inability to cultivate, truly intimate friendships because of his political position (and also his dad being a dick).
Romantic Pairing(s) you're currently writing?
Mainly Renathal/the Maw Walker (Elisewin), although the more I float little bits of the Accuser/Curator’s story the more I wonder about writing something short just for them. I ship them super hard on the sidelines.

Snippet of the WIP you are currently working on?
Well, I recently had a bug to finish the next chapter of Shadow UNIverse which had been hiatused since spring. I’m halfway done with the second to last chapter, which is exciting. Hoping I can finish it soon and not burn out again. I've included a little snippet under the cut.
"Shall I confess something?"
"Yes, please."
"I have wanted to do this for some time."
"Really?” The Maw Walker craned her neck gingerly to the right, attempting to catch Renathal's eye with her good one. “Help me wash my hair while keeping my casts out of water? That's a very specific fantasy."
Renathal’s reply was to reach around and daub soapy shampoo lather bubbles to the end of the Maw Walker’s nose, upsetting the careful decorum she had maintained throughout the undignified bathing ritual as well as her precarious balance on the edge of his claw foot tub. But she was laughing as she slipped and he was laughing as he caught her, and it was several mirth-filled minutes and inelegant contortions before both were back in position.
"The fantasy,” he explained around the dregs of amusement as he resumed scrubbing the top of the Maw Walker's head, “was to have you in my bath. I admit, this was not precisely what I pictured."
"Oh, I see." She cocked her head to the side again and Renathal could see the hint of a smile play around her puffy, bruised lips. "How did you picture it?"
“Hmm…”
He made a thoughtful sort of noise and scrubbed in silence for several seconds, as if only now considering the details of a fantasy he'd had ready and waiting for weeks.
"Well, there would certainly have been wine,” he said at last - the Maw Walker hummed her approval. "And candles perhaps. Bath salts. Bubbles."
She wiped a bit of lingering lather from the side of her nose.
"We do have those."
Renathal chuckled but otherwise ignored this interjection as he finished, “And we would both of us have actually been in the bath. And with all our limbs safely intact."
“Ah, I see,” the Maw Walker repeated, though this time the smile in it was shaky. Renathal could feel the tension settle stiffly in her shoulders as he worked shampoo through the ends of her hair “That does sound lovely. I am… sorry to disappoint.”

Hello! I’ve been wanting to break out of my shell and interact more with the writeblr community, so here I am! Feel free to interact with me, whether in the form of asks, tag games, writing/WIP/OC questions, or similar stuff. Also if you would like me to take a look at your work, feel free to ask! I am a very slow reader, but I do enjoy reading quite a bit.
About my writing
I am primarily a dark fantasy writer who has been writing stories and running D&D/Pathfinder games out of my setting Arachnia for well over a decade by this point. (Although more work is on the gaming side, I’ve been trying to expand my library of literary works little by little.) I also dabble in horror, sci-fi, and mixtures of those genres. My works tend to be very character-focused with (relatively) simple plot lines. Very A -> B type stuff, though I have been experimenting a bit more as of late. Morality varies by the character. Some of my characters are heroes, others are... Not so much. Some are just regular people trying to figure themselves out. If that sounds interesting, quite a few of my stories are posted here. I also have a fanfiction I’ve been meaning to get back to.
About myself
I’m a 32 year old guy who has a great love of stories, art, and self-expression. I’ve recently shaken off a writer’s funk that kept me from really doing... Anything. If I’m being totally honest, I’m not in the best of places mentally. I deal with schizophrenia and depression on the regular, and I do what I can to deal with the day-to-day. Stories are... My passion. My life. I use them as a form of escapism, yes, but they help me cope. That’s just how it is. I also quite enjoy video games, cartoons, anime, music, and just about everything else I can find different kinds of stories and characters in. I sometimes talk about those things, so you might see non-writing posts on my blog.
WIPs
Saria, Hero of the Forest: An Ocarina of Time fanfiction set in an alternate timeline where Saria of the Kokiri has to take up the mantle of hero. In the beginning, the story follows the events of the game almost to a T (including existing dialogue), however events begin to shift and change as the story progresses... I also use this story to explore fan theories and expand on characters I really like that didn’t get much screentime, as it were. There are currently six chapters available, with the 7th that’s been waiting... Waiting for me to get my act together!!
Bebop Bayou Tales: Stories about a self-proclaimed protector of the swamp, Rina Woodshed! She’s a gator girl that goes on adventures with her friend Lafayette, a grey fox boy. The bayou and its surrounding lands seem to attract all sorts of wayward monsters and spirits, and Rina does everything she can to keep her home safe from harm. There’s already one story in this series that’s finished, but many others are going to be added to the series!
The Book of Songs: A long term project I’ve been working on every so often for quite some time now... It’s the story an immortal assassin trying to escape their past and live a normal life as well as a young girl who is saved from being burned at the stake. Together, these two try to find a place they can call home. The first book in the series is already finished (though I have yet to find a publisher for it), and the second book has been pending in the 2nd draft stage.
Collab Story (title unknown): Another long term project that involves me and three other friends creating a collaborative story involving our characters (including Rina, since her setting is a part of the collab setting as a whole). It begins with a young mage performing a dark ritual, despite the many many warnings of the school faculty. The next thing she knows, she’s dead... But it seems an enchantment she put on a family heirloom gave her a second chance at life, so she awakens as a lich, though her memory seems to be damaged. Soon after waking, she finds the family heirloom missing, and in her quest to get it back, she learns of a terrible plot and dark forces trying to gather a set of four ancient artifacts... One of which is her family heirloom. This particular story has a whopping 29 chapters to its name, though since it’s a very friend-to-friend work, I don’t think I’ll be allowed to show it until it’s finally finished.
What Keeps Me Going: A short story (or possibly novelette) I’m currently working on as a commission for a friend that takes place in my setting, Arachnia. It’s about a young adventurer named Reah Fenae who stumbles upon a village that has been beset by vicious boarmen called porga. After rescuing a child from imminent danger, Reah puts her life on the line to save the villagers from a fate worse than death.

I miss the big rec posts of old, so… I’m gonna do one. And I'm going to be real extra about it. I’ve read & reread a variety of things over the past few months that I’ve thoroughly enjoyed, and figured hey, y'all might enjoy them as well. Is there a rhyme or reason? Of course not. Are they all new? Hell no, that’s the joy of an archive. I also realized like half of them are spooky season themed, so... *shrugs* viva la spooky season.
Game of Thrones
Dornish Sand by Aviss - (E, 5K, Oberyn/Ellaria/Jamie/Brienne)
Jamie & Brienne go to Dorne, and the four of them bone. Why there aren’t more of these four together, I don’t know. More fics should be about sexy folks worshiping Brienne and this definitely hits it.
Royal Flush by @astolat - (E, 85K, various)
Canon divergence - what if during the Battle of Blackwater Robb found his way into King’s Landing, rescued Sansa, and killed Joffrey? Where does the game go from there? That’s the premise and it really is best to ignore the tags and discover the story as it goes because it is deeply engrossing and this is the type of story where being surprised and watching the chess match unfold is part of the fun.

The stories say there's a place in Harlan County that will grant your wish on Halloween night. Raylan thinks Loretta should stay the hell away from it. Another one to head into spooky season. Because as someone who grew up in a rural area, some places are just creepy as fuck and this has the vibes.

Another preview to spooky season (do I have a thing for Appalachian scares? apparently) with Raylan, Tim, and Rachel chasing a fugitive into what feels like a haunted mine. There are far too many things you can only see from the corner of your eye that far underground.

What if Din and Cobb met 10 years earlier, and they ran into Tatooine’s favorite hermit and had to hunker down for the night? It’s exactly what you hope it is, and turned me on to a new trio.

Post-S2, Din returns to Tatooine looking for peace, but he’s haunted by the darksabre, both literally and figuratively. Cobb’s not doing much better. Some of the best haunted by your past AND actually haunted that I’ve read and perfect going into spooky season.

I can’t articulate how much I love this fic from an author who never disappoints.

you know, one of the most annoying things in fandom is when people view a pairing as having familial vibes, like "oh these two act like brother and sister!", so when others say they ship it, the fandom will go, "ew, no, that's incest!", even though the characters are not blood-related
like, i understand if you're against incest, but to slap an incest label on characters who act like siblings or a parent & child is going a bit too far, in my opinion

i'm pro-shipping any sort of incest, but i do have a system to determine what does and doesn't count as incest:
if they're related by blood, then it's incest.
if they share a biological parent, then it's incest.
if their parents are married but they're not blood-related, it isn't biologically incest, but the relationship could be viewed as borderline incestuous. (by law, they can still date/marry/etc, though, when they become adults.)
if one of them was adopted, then it also isn't biologically incest, but depending on when the adopted one joined the family (earlier or later in their childhood), then it could technically be viewed as incest. (i'm not sure about the legality bc of the shared last names. i'd have to research that.)
if they're foster siblings, then again, no biological incest, but depending on how long they've lived together, could be viewed as pseudo-incestuous. but they're still allowed to date/marry/etc once they age out of the system.
if they merely act like family, then it is definitely not incest and anyone claiming such is reaching and clearly just ship-bashing.
i had an experience in a fandom a few years back where people claimed shipping foster brothers was "incest" even though they only became foster brothers as teenagers. and other characters in the same media were implied to have met in the system and went on to date and marry each other, which no one in the fandom seemed to have an issue with, so the "incest" claimers really looked like hypocrites, in the end.

it's been, like, 2-3 days since the new black panther movie came out and i'm seeing more complaints about people shipping shuri & namor than actual shuri/namor content
can't people just... let others be? i understand if you disagree with it, but this is fandom! it's fiction! we're meant to explore interesting ship dynamics! like, there's a reason why "enemies to lovers" is such a popular trope and i'm sorry but yes that includes the more toxic/abusive pairings too. honestly, if you want "enemies to lovers" without any of the toxic or abusive stuff, you're really looking for "rivals to lovers" pairings. i'm sorry but it's true.
if you don't like a certain ship and don't wanna see it's content, mute the tag! block the people posting about it! you're in control of your own online experience!
but don't try to police other people's fandom experiences, please. shipping a toxic or abusive pairing is not actually harming anyone. (and being offended by something is NOT the same as being harmed by it.) get it through your heads.

How regularly is “regularly”?: great question! LOL. it depends on the flow of fanfics that get uploaded, which i do not have any control over, but i’m looking forward to do this twice a month. after all, it’s only me doing this and i often run on a tight schedule.

Why are you doing this?: from the beginning, my blog has hosted conversations about RPF (real people fiction) and crewfu pairings. this has evolved into people sending me updates about certain fics in the crewfu tags every now and then, but i wanna take the next step and just do these things myself. after all, i’m already lurking in the tags often to see the fics that get posted. as someone who is both a writer and a reader, i wanna appreciate fanfic writers and help out other people that want to read fanfic and consume more fandom content!
Will it be AO3 only?: well, ao3 has a very helpful tag system that makes finding fics incredibly easy, as well as allowing people with no accounts to like and comment on fics, so that’s the site i will personally look in for fanworks. but if there are any fics you’ve written or liked in any other platforms, such as wattpad, you can always contact me through my inbox (send an ask or a dm!), and i’ll make sure to include for the next fanfic spotlight :)
Does it mean you won’t reply to fic asks anymore?: yeah, i guess. since i’ll be doing the searching myself it seems counterproductive. but if i ever skip a fic or again, it’s in another platform, or you’ve posted/read the fic a while ago and you want to get more traction on it, hit me up and i’ll take it into consideration!
Will you read every single one of the fics on your list?: oh no. again, i run on a tight schedule, and also i have my own taste when it comes to fics. i won’t be reviewing fics or any of the sort, and my intention extends to simply sharing these fics to this page so people will have easier access to them :) that’s where ao3 tagging becomes SUPER useful!!!
So what’s the criteria for the way you’ll sort out the fics in your list?: word count, going from lowest to highest. in case of fics in other platforms, i guess i’ll put them at the top of the list. i’ll also be looking for fairly recent fics, so let me know if you want any old-ish fic to be included.
I see you talking mostly about 5up/Steve and Steve/Apollo. Can I still send/see other crewfu fics?: why yes absolutely! my goal is to push every fic which heavily features regular crewfu characters - 5uptic and supdog just happen to be very popular pairings. so, to give you a list: core 4 (5up, hafu, dk, steve), apollo, aipha, annie, janet, kimi, ellum, koji... you know the drill. it doesn’t have to be centered on a relationship, or about 5up in specific, etc. my only requirement is that any of the previously mentioned members are a central part of the fic or are HEAVILY featured in it (sorry, minecraft fics with 50+ tags who only mention 5up as an afterthought won’t make the cut :/).
Isn’t shipping Bad™?: well, it’s a little more nuanced than that. i will go out of my way to discourage and shame people who often violate CCs’ boundaries by acting like so and so has a crush on this person, or that this and that are Actually Into Each Other or secretly dating. any sort of tinhat bullshit is a big nono (think larries). but i run on the assumption that people who write rpf understand that what they’re doing is simply write a completely fictional story using real life personalities, and understand the boundaries necessary to do it - aka they’re not tinhats, they understand they can’t assume everything about CCs’ thoughts and personalities, they understand that what they’re writing is strictly fiction, they keep these works only in fandom circles, etc. (but again, it’s only one me doing this, so please be kind if i don’t happen to know that this person is Actually a tinhat or whatever).

WIP challenge
Thank you for tagging me @wanderingbandurria! All of your WIPs sound absolutely amazing!
I already did this last week but I'm going to do it again because, of course, a few more things have popped into my WIP trello board (yes, I have a WIP trello board, because I am just that kind of person).
WIP Challenge 😁❤🧡💛💚💙💜🤎🖤🤍❤😁🤩🤩 Rules: tell us the titles of all the WIPs you are currently working on right now and a little about them. Then tag five other writers.
Pages of You - this is my current live WIP. It’s a soft spinoff/sequel to Led by Light, my 1960s Wolfstar AU. It’s set 20 years later, in 1980, and follows Harry during his summer between second and third year at uni. He picks up a job at Sirius’s queer bookshop and starts up a pen pal relationship with an anonymous boy he quickly develops feelings for. At the same time, he meets Draco, son of the CEO of the UK’s most conservative bookshop chain who are opening up a branch in the same London district.
Bites Through the Bone - I’ve posted a couple of snippets of this already (here and here). This will be a one-shot (or at the maximum, two chapters). Remus is a former art graduate turned thief when he and his best friend Gideon find themselves out of work straight out of university. They pick up rich men in London and rob them. One night, he meets Sirius, and things turn on their head. Guest appearance by James Potter. I’m not going to lie, this fic is pure id-fulfillment and really rather rude indeed; but it’s been very fun to write and a bit of a break from my usual brand of flangst/flufft. However, it is me, so it does include, you know, heightened emotions and depth of feeling… somewhat. I just hope people won’t judge me too harshly for it!
Scrabble - my RS Candyhearts challenge that I swear I will finish writing before Valentine’s Day. A cute one-shot where Remus and Sirius play a game of Scrabble and smoke some jazz cigarettes.
Firelight - my first official Jegulus fic, which I can’t give too much away about, because it’s a challenge fic. It’s a one-shot also.
As Yet Untilted Gothic Wolfstar multi-chapter fic - I posted about this here and I’ve started drafting/outlining, which I think makes it an official WIP. I have a couple of titles in mind for this and I’m sure you’ll hear more about it soon. This (or, admittedly, the below fic) might be my next “big baby” after Pages.
As Yet Untitled Nick Hornby inspired Wolfstar multi-chapter fic - much the same as the above, it’s completely outlined but I have no title for it yet. Sirius is a former child actor from a big film franchise and has since blurred into obscurity. Remus’s boyfriend is investigating him for his podcast series on forgotten pop culture icons, and Remus couldn’t care less about it nor him. Until he does.
As Yet Untitled Sirius and James Time-Travel Fic: I said I'd never do time travel because the mechanics of it would blow my pedantic mind to shreds BUT I posted recently about how much I love history (it's my number one love honestly) and that I should do a Bill and Ted style AU. It was a joke, honestly, but the more I think about it, the more I want to develop it. Will it be humour? Will it be a drama? Who knows! It will involve an epic romance though that crosses the historical divide between a modern day Sirius and Remus from another era (as yet to be decided).
Others: I am working on a few other WIPs including an ace!Sirius one-shot, a Wolfstarbucks cult initiation/biker gang kidnapping one-shot, and also at the bottom of my slush pile that I actually have a few chapters written in full of already: untitled Wolfstar go on a romantic cruise (as friends) multi-chap.

What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
i don't do angsty endings bc i personally am writing fanfic for happy endings tbh but i WILL say the biggest angsty cliffhanger i've ever left my readers on was the end of ch 3 in do you like or like like me? i intended to go only a week between ch 3 and 4 but then didn't...so that's probably the angstiest i've ever left bughead if that makes sense lol
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
hmm, i feel like all my stories have happy endings! but maaaaaybe a merry little retail christmas, since they end up with their own bookstore and jughead proposing to a very surprised betty in said bookstore as he reveals they own it?
Do you write crossovers? If so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
does my riverdale O.C. AU count as a crossover? bc if so then yes. also i really want to do a nace/bughead crossover at some point. @heartunsettledsoul and i have discussed this a tiiiiny bit but nothing specific.
Have you ever received hate on a fic?
not hate exactly, but i have gotten people kind of bluntly asking me to include particular characters in a fic that are either a) already in the tags or b) not in the tags for a reason, and that's not...my favorite thing, ngl.
Do you write smut? If so what kind?
yes, yes i do! i guess i'm usually solidly in the M side of things rather than the E side, and it's typically equal parts horny and fluffy since it's always between characters who are ~in loooove! i did write a kink week oneshot entirely as an ode to the Satisfyer, a sex toy i highly recommend to anyone who owns a clit.

eek okay so it's ~possible~ i'll never finish love in the time of coronavirus bc idk if i want to/am capable of going back to that headspace of early pandemic but A L S O i maybe will? chapter 8, the only unfinished chapter, is supposed to be a time jump epilogue so you never know, an idea might inspire me to write it at some point in the future! maybe it's meant to be written at a point in the future that's ~actually post pandemic, you know? we shall see.

oh god, this is a hard one. i feel like i'm good at dialogue? it's hard to self evaluate!
What’s your writing weaknesses?
describing people!!! why am i so bad at it? i'll never know. however i do think it's part of the appeal of fanfic for me, bc everyone kinda already knows what characters look like so you can get away with the least amount of physical character description more so than original fic.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
I don't really know any other languages besides English besides some rudimentary/faded italian and the amount of spanish you get in middle school, but if the character calls for it, like a stray Lodge family "mija" and such, i do that? but i think it's super cool when others who are bilingual, multilingual, etc. incorporate other languages!

WAIT lmao @iconic-ponytail my answer is identical to yours: Harry Potter on fanfiction.net. For me, which is apparently unpopular in our fandom, it was all about Romione.
What’s your favorite fic you’ve written?
hands down, do you like or like like me? it just captured a lot of things i've always wanted for high school bughead in that fic AND the process allowed me to get out a lot of angst and nostalgia about my high school years, which was super cathartic. and the fact that i seem to have produced something that a lot of people could relate to as former nerdy teen girls makes me really happy. Exhale is a close second favorite, and probably mainly because i have a lot of anxiety attached to Exhale bc i never update it as fast as ppl want me to.

Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? not all of them. i do try to keep up on them, especially on longer stories when there's been significant wait times in between chapters, or when a reader is asking a question or is unclear on something. and especially when someone writes a really indepth comment/review, i like to respond to those and talk about motivations and character growth.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending? I've written a number of fics that either had suicide or major character death, so i'm not sure if one outranks the other in terms of most angsty... hmm... i remember "be still and know that I'm with you (be still and know that I am here)" and "light a match, burn the world to ash (I will watch it die, and hold your hand as I fly)" both got some pretty intense reactions when they were posted. And "It's Your Song That Sets Me Free (I Sing It While I Feel I Can't Go On)" was basically just angst from beginning to end. buuuuut, i think i'll say "so you think you can tell (heaven from hell" was, only because there's a build up of everything going so right, only to pivot at the end, so it feels very bittersweet.

If so what’s the craziest one you’ve written? i loooooove crossovers. i find writing in the marvel fandom makes things quite easy, but also smallville. as long as i can find a common thread, i enjoy finding a way to overlap two shows. i'll say the hardest one to write was "ruby red slippers (unavailable in her size)." I'm not sure why, but i found writing each personality together just felt strange. i liked the idea behind the story, but i definitely remember feeling like i was really forcing myself to keep going, like something just didn't fit right.
Have you ever received hate on a fic? oh, definitely. you cannot please everyone, it's impossible. for the most part, hate comes and i either argue back, take the criticism for what it's worth, or just ignore it when it's baseless. i think the hate that bothered me the most was a homophobic PM someone sent me re: "you know I will adore you ('til eternity)," on FFnet. i actually went and searched it up. they've since blocked me so i can't read our whole thread back and forth. but i did put part of it on tumblr so i could rant on it a bit, so you can see that here.
Do you write smut? If so what kind? ha. yes. depending on the story, it can be really detailed or really flowery. it depends on the ship, the plot, and how graphic i feel like being. i've definitely become more comfortable over the years with my writing. that said, i think everybody likes something different. i once had a reviewer tell me a sex scene was too much, just too intense. it was a stefan/caroline story and to be fair, that entire oneshot was just them fucking, lol, but it is what it is. to each their own.
Have you ever had a fic stolen? Multiple times.
Have you ever had a fic translated? Yes! for the record, i am always happy to have my stories translated and shared. i just like having a link sent to me and to be credited.
What’s your all time favorite ship? i have a list of OTPs, because interests change and as shows come and go, my love for a ship can be shelved for a while before it pops back up at random. currently, i can't get enough of buck/eddie from 9-1-1. and, historically, chloe/oliver (smallville) and felicity/oliver (arrow) have been two of my top OTPs. but i think i'd have to go with bonnie/damon. they had all the potential and the show dropped the ball by not exploring it. at the same time, that's kind of a blessing, because i don't trust those writers to properly explore what they had without eventually destroying it for the likes of de/ena. it means a treasure trove for writing where it could have gone and all the what if's.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish, but don’t think you ever will? the intention is always to finish. but given how i feel about allison mack and how that impacts my feelings re: chloe sullivan, pretty much anything with her as a main character is not something i see myself returning to.
What are your writing strengths? What are your writing weaknesses? i'm putting these together because my strength is my weakness. i love to write. when i get an idea, i go all in and i will skip eating and sleeping to just write write write. but i also eventually hit a wall and i get so many ideas that i hyperfocus on one until the steam is gone and then i hyperfocus on the next one to maintain that need to keep writing, accidentally leaving the last story in the dust for entirely too long. i also have clinical depression that comes and goes, which hasn't been super great mixed with covid and isolation, so more often recently, i find myself overly exhausted and despite wanting to write, can rarely get motivated to do so. so, pre-covid, wrote so much i left entirely too many stories dangling. during covid, i've just been reading and struggling to get myself focused enough to do what i love.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic? i appreciate the authenticity when possible, but i've recently been reading more about how native speakers of other languages feel when a) their language is butchered by google translate, or b) it's just not genuine in terms of how bilingual speakers act or speak.
What was the first fandom you’ve written for? it was smallville, but i remember adopting it out to someone else because i wasn't going to finish it. so if you look at my ffnet, the first fandom i wrote for appears to be x-men: the movie, but i remember writing a chloe/oliver story prior to that.
What’s your favorite fic that you’ve written? i have a lot. i mean, on ffnet, i have 576 stories, many of which were transferred over to ao3, with a lot of oneshots and drabbles getting joined together into collections. so there's a ton to pick from that span a 14-ish year timeline.
"you know I will adore you ('til eternity)" and "let me break (the walls that surround me)" hold a special place in my heart.
honestly, each story is important in its own way. there are bits and pieces of each that i love. every time i write something new it feels like my favorite. my best. and then a new idea comes along. there are scenes i've written that i loved more than the whole of what they became. lines that stand out that are almost too good to be a part of the larger picture.
one of my all time favorite passages i've written was bonnie's thoughts on damon and herself in 'if you love me (let me go)":
He is far from perfect. He is a novel of red, corrective ink. He is frayed pages and torn binding. His life, his choices, his mistakes leave lasting effects on everyone he meets.
She is a lifeboat with a hole in it. An anchor that drowns in the sea while everyone else remains steady above. She is both the calm and the storm, and while she screams that she will not be tamed, she cries. Bittersweet tears that go unnoticed and uncared about.
there are other stories, other pieces of dialogue, that i've been proud of. that make me laugh when i re-read them. that make me cry. and i love them. there are others that make me wilt and cringe and regret. it's a process. love and pride and growth, all bound together.

Hello and welcome to whatever the hell this is my simblr. My name is Ennie. I’ve had this blog since the start of TS4 and I’ve been creating poses for 3 years. So, I’ve been here a while. This simblr is a lot of things. Mainly a chaotic hot mess.
This simblr centers around John and Brian. They’re doofuses. They’re also madly in love with each other; they’ve recently gotten engaged! And they have a cat! Her name is Spaghetti. She’s very cute.
Did I mention I make poses? I make male poses! And there’s something for everyone; general, romantic (specifically for m/m couples), little bit of spice, bit of action here and there. Poses! For guys! You know what’s even better?

All pose pics are in-game and barely edited (they just have vibrance), so what you see is what you get. If I use render pics, I’ll include in-game too.
I also make stories! Do they have any continuity? Mostly! (One story is a very vague AU but it’s more about the aesthetic more than anything else) That means: yes, that’s canon; it happened. I realize that my early works are very rough compared to now, but I left them alone for prosperity. They vary in length and self-contained (except The Werewolf and the prequel, The Incident and you can actually read those two in whatever order; you can read Incident first and then Werewolf or vice versa -- it’s probably my fav story to date so far). And the posts are in chronological order with links to the previous/next part in the post.
The bulk of OC lore is through the oc things tag if you’re willing to read or try and get the feel of John and Brian. Or, you can ask; my inbox is quite open. I also tend to do OC lore dumps about a thing or something. Sometimes, they may become future stories.
My play style is gameplay? Gameplay. I guess it’s slice of life? I don’t know! I make things out of them sometimes.
I tag a lot of things, but mostly just The Big Ones. Every now and then, I have a spicy or spicy adjacent tag ‘rated s for spicy’, but the truly spicy posts are gonna be on PF, whenever that comes back up again since Tumblr. I can get creative with camera angles though. And then there’s ‘rated b for booty’ which is just a nudity tag. It’s just John doing what he just loves to do -- being naked. Brian does it too but it’s rare.
This simblr may not be the most visually appealing or ~colorful~ so I don’t have much in the way of that, but if you don’t mind... then please by all means check it out, stay a while, throw a comment or two, maybe a sweet reblog? What’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Definitely It Had Claws. It deals with deep depression so it’s fairly heavy emotionally and I deeply love this fic for what it allowed me to express.
What’s the fic you’ve written with the happiest ending?
Hmm I’ve written quite a few short fics that is largely just fluff so it’s hard to say about happy ending. I suppose for one that starts out tense but ends happiest would be To Rescue Her which is a Zev POV of rescuing the warden from Fort Drakon.
Do you write crossovers? If so, what is the craziest one you’ve ever written?
I do toy with AU’s but never done a direct crossover.

Sure do! I tend towards writing kink scenes to be honest. I have several fics up on AO3, with some being kink and others just exploring a relationship kind of scenes. Someday would love to finish the vampire smut I have hiding away lmao.

A couple of times actually. As for an actual published one, I wrote When All the Elves Love Each Other with @raymurata and its a fun OT3 story where our respective OCs talk to their best friends about the dynamics of their relationship (and get concerned voices wondering if their partner is cheating)

Zevwarden. If its not clear by every fic on my AO3 and that was listed here lol.
What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I’m afeared i will never finish my mutant AU WIP. I keep restarting it and being unsatisfied but the idea has literally lived in my head for years at this point.
What are your writing strengths?
I love love love dialogue. I don’t usually fret too much about character voices and it feels easy to follow the natural flow of conversation. I’ve been told I’m also good at writing fight scenes which came as a surprise because I find them challenging but I’m glad it pays off. I��m really visually minded so I guess seeing how it all plays out in my head makes it a bit easier.
What are your writing weaknesses?
I’ve been on a block for a long long time so i’m trying to resist saying EVERYTHING right now. But I do worry about pacing. Sometimes I want to just jump straight to the next interesting thing, sometimes I think I spend too long on conversations or setup that the reader doesnt really need.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
It’s usually done poorly lol. Either translated weirdly, out of place, or you know the “oops sorry I forget to switch sometimes” kind of writing. If someone is mixing a word or two of another language in with what they are saying it doesn’t seem weird to include it (like swearing or endearments) but I think it tends to look cleaner if it just says “they spoke in x language.” Even if writing out dialogue in that other language - I’ll use Antivan for example lol - just write it in English and say it was Antivan if your POV character does indeed understand it. And if they dont understand it, no need to write it out at all.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Lol it was TWILIGHT.

This is silly but its still probably Drunk Warden is Drunk because I had so much fun writing it, I still love it now even though its a few years old, and there’s not a single thing I would change about it.

PWR is angsty being solavellan fanfic but I think it ends on a higher note than the angstiest middle content.

What’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
I want to finish PWR's sequel. It always had a planned ending I wanted to see completed. But the damn thing got out of control. 200,000+ words and it's only half done! There is so much to rework. It was meant to be self-indulgent but it needs more structure. We've taken a couple wacks at starting the re-write but it is daunting.
What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue... think we got some motifs down well too.
What are your writing weaknesses?
Telling and not showing.. got to improve on this. I try to avoid being too wordy. But if I were to rewrite PWR I'd try to do more emotive writing.
What are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Good by me. As long as it serves the story... In Dragon Age fanfic it's natural to want to include elven and qunlat.
What was the first fandom you wrote for?
Sailor Moon. I was a tween and did nothing with it.

Usually, yeah. Not if it’s just a heart of a single word comment, though. Not that I don’t appreciate those comments, there’s just not really anything to respond to. If someone does it on every chapter of a longer fic, I might go like “thanks for taking the time to comment!” on one of them to show that I appreciate it.
6) what’s the fic you’ve written with the angstiest ending?
Hmm, I’m more of a hurt/comfort than outright angst sort of guy... particularly in terms of endings, I really like things to be really angsty but then end on that note of “things are going to be okay”?
That said, it’s probably In Other Circumstances, a fic based on the movie Joyeux Noël, which is already fairly angsty, given the subject matter (that time during WW1 opposing armies celebrated Christmas together). That, or the Dumbledore fic To Be At Peace.
7) do you write crossovers? if so what is the craziest one you’ve written?
Not really. I do have a little bit of a Les Mis/Order of the Phoenix mash-up where Dumbledore’s Army do a student activism after Dumbledore is sacked (Lamarque is dead!) lying around somewhere, but I think that’s about it. God, that was a good idea though. I should get back on that some day.
8) have you ever received hate on a fic?
I think I once got one from a terf on that trans!Harry one but it was pretty vague lol
9) do you write smut? if so what kind?
Yeah, occasionally. I have a lot of kinks in the bdsm area of things, so that’s always pretty apparent in the smut I write. I just think power dynamics are sexy lmao
A lot of the smut I’ve written is original work stuff though, so that’s not up in the same place as my fanfic.

Yes, Just Like That was translated into Chinese.
I’ve also personally translated a Odin/Loki fic I wrote in Danish into English. Fun fact, it’s way harder to translate than if I’d written it in English in the first place. I like to write fic in Danish where it makes sense to, though.

Nope. I’ve partcipated in events where I’ve drawn and the other person written, but never co-written. Frankly I’m not even sure how that works.
13) what’s your all-time favourite ship?
Gah, idk. All-time, huh? I shift between fandoms too much for that.
Obviously I ship Enjolras/Grantaire a lot and have for a long time, but then I’m also super particular about what I want that to look like lol.
I still really love Sirius/Remus even after all these years. Disco Elysium’s Harry/Kim deserves mention here as well, although that’s a lot newer, so it’s difficult to talk about in an “all-time” sense.
Despite not really caring about any aspect of Marvel anymore, I also still really love Matt/Foggy from the Netflix version of Daredevil.
14) what’s a WIP that you want to finish but don’t think you ever will?
A lot of unposted stuff 😂 Maybe once I finish Elysium I’ll pick one of those up again... If it’s a wip I care about, I won’t start posting it till I have a good sense that I’ll continue being able to update.
15) what are your writing strengths?
Hmm, I think I’m good at inserting myself into the mindset of the protagonist. This is also why I practically never write alternating pov, I’m filtering everything through that protagonist so shifting around would be harder. Dialogue tends to come easily to me as well.
16) what are your writing weaknesses?
Descriptions, moving characters around in space in particular. On a more meta level, plotting things out to the right degree where I still actually want to write it but I’m also going in a particular direction. Just... plot, in general, really.
17) what are your thoughts on writing dialogue in other languages in a fic?
Generally speaking, if my character speaks the language in question, the dialogue will be rendered in the same language as the rest of the text with a dialogue tag like “he said in German” or w/e. If they do not, the dialogue will be rendered in the actual language being spoken.
Of course this is also hugely guided but what languages I personally speak. I will never use google translate for something like that because I personally find it infuriating when people do that lmao. It’s like saying “Hey, you, who actually speak this language? This isn’t for you. Fuck you. This is just here for flavor. Surely no-one who actually speaks this language will ever come across this.” I’m sure that’s not what most people who do that are thinking, but that’s what it feels like to read. So I won’t do that.
I can’t recall if I’ve done this in anything that’s up anywhere, but if I wanted to include a foreign phrase I would either use Danish, use triple checked German or ask someone I know who speak a given language about the phrase in that language. Or, you know, just use an established quote.
An exception is Latin, particularly for Les Mis fic, where I follow the brick’s habit of rendering Latin untranslated, despite the pov character understanding it (but again, these are always established phrases).
If I wrote something in Danish taking place in the modern day, I would render English untranslated as well, since that is just how young Danes talk and I can assume that 99.99% of potential readers will be able to understand it either way (this, I think we can assume, is also what was going on with Latin at the time Hugo was writing).
18) what was the first fandom you wrote for?
Probably Harry Potter. That, or Avatar: The Last Airbender. I don’t really remember. The first thin I put on FFnet was certainly Harry Potter, though.
19) what’s your favourite fic you’ve written?
Predictably it’s On the Path to Elysium. As I’ve mentioned before, I wasn’t really able to write long things before Elysium. Most of my fics are oneshots and while I really like oneshots, I had long been frustrated that I never managed to get any of my longer ideas off the ground. Elysium represents a lot of growth for me as a writer.
Apart from that, like I said, I’m still very fond of Just Like That, if nothing else then because I wrote it in an emulation of how the game itself is written.

Although I did have an anon getting grumpy on Empty-Handed and one of the other fics I posted around the same time because they didn't like the implication that Bard and Thranduil were going to be with their wives as well as each other (they're...their wives? why would they not be with them, if they're all there?), and were grumpy that because it was technically an epilogue to Empty Vessel, which I'd only just started posting, it was spoiling that one. Which...well, I suppose it does, a tiny bit, but given that I hadn't written most of EV at the time, it really doesn't spoil any of the details at all.
do you write smut? if so what kind? Yes - but not particularly explicit because I am super ace and very awkward about it all. I'm pretty much smutted-out at this point, too, and the thought of having to write more is part of the reason why I haven't written much on Empty Vessel in a while XD However, chapter 100 is the next one to write, and I feel like it should include at least a little smut, so tomorrow I am going to roll up my sleeves and get on with it. :D

Once, long ago, I was writing a great long LotR fic with a friend, but the only bit of it that ever saw the light of day was Blood and Ink, which I'm not super happy with if I'm honest. I rewrote some of the scenes we'd written as A River Loves A Stone last year, and that sort of led into everything else I've been writing since.

I like to include odd words of Sindarin in my Tolkien fic when Elven characters are speaking (and the odd word of Welsh when it's modern!Bard), but I always include translations. I think it is inaccessible and exclusionary not to include a list of translations, and over-use of Elvish without translations, especially when used outside dialogue when there is an English word that can be used, is a strong reason for me to back-button out of a fic. Inside dialogue, it's a representation of the person's words, outside dialogue, unless it's a word that doesn't exist in English (such as 'mallorn/mellyrn' or 'talan/telain') it's showing off, and it shuts out anyone who doesn't know the words.
what was the first fandom you wrote for? X-Men comics - in 2002 I wrote Redefinition, a between-the-panels for a scene between Gambit and Rogue in an issue of X-Treme X-Men, and I'm still incredibly proud of it.
what’s your favorite fic you’ve written? At the moment it's a toss-up between Empty Vessel-'verse and All I Want Is You-'verse. But I have a deep and abiding fondness for A Quiet Understanding, the first longfic I ever wrote (well, it's 20-odd-k, it was long for me at the time).
