Base Yandere Shang Li Headcanons: Protector (Mulan Animated)

[Hello, My Sexy Muffins! I am here with another chapter! This one is going to be yandere Shang li! So please enjoy this chapter and hope you are all enjoying the Lunar New Year!]

(Disclaimer: Shang Li is NOT Yandere in canon, this is just for fun and not to be taken seriously at all! Simping for fictional characters and yanderes is fine, just do not be gross or illegal about it! Yanderes are not ideal partners to have in real life. Also, remember to separate fiction from reality and headcanon from canon!)

-Base Yandere Headcanons With Shang Li (Mulan)-

.Shang Li is the Son of General Li.

.He is smart and capable.

.He is also very strong and has very good looks.

.He also might be bi or pan in canon (Which here is a bit of history in Ancient China men could have boyfriends along with their wives (Mainly in royal families) because in Ancient China being gay was not considered a Sin like it was in the West but these men still had to have wives because you ARE going to carry on your family name right? Which was expected at that time. So men being attracted to men was not treated the same as it was in the West at this time. There is even a story where a Chinese emperor was sleeping with his boyfriend and when he had to go leave for work instead of awakening his boyfriend he cut the sleeve of his clothes so he would not wake his boyfriend if he moved them) because he was very likely attracted to Mulan when she was dressed as a man and he thought she was one and as a woman.

.In this he has not mulan but he has met you and regardless of your physical form he loves you and is smitten with you.

.Just like the song that played when getting ready for the Matchmaker he is a man who would go to war for you to make sure that he can keep you safe

.He adores you for who you are and wants to keep you safe, he is a very protective yandere to the core. That he is willing to risk his life for yours.

.Though at first, he is very strict on rules and such so he does his best to follow them.

.Although over time he will break those rules if he has to, to be with you, that is for sure.

.He wants to also be able to prove himself to you, that he can be a good man and protect you and be worthy of you.

.He would defend your life and save face for you (Saving/save face is how you should say it, not save my honor or save you honor or restore my honor, western stuff is the one obsessed to us. Saving/Save face is how you would say it, fun fact!

.You are just not a partner to him, but the love of his life and he will stand by your side through it all.

.He is though a bit of a stick-in-the-mud kind of guy with certain things, and a bit more strict with those things.

.In other words, he would at first expect you to do as he says and not disgrace his face.

.He is holding you to a high standard.

.Of course, again he gets better. Learning you are his partner and respecting you as it.

.He is also a self-sacrificing yandere

.With that and the protective side of him he will do whatever it takes to save your life and keep you safe.

.It does not matter what he has to do to protect you he will do it.

.How does he deal with rivals? Most likely beats the poo out of them… But.

.His dark side as a yandere would have certain rivals framed for crimes they did not commit where they were executed or exiled.

.Also, if they are exiled he most likely will pay someone to kill them even after the fact (Another fun fact is a lot of framing court officials and having them killed when they are exiled happened a lot in ancient China a lot so this is very accurate lol).He would confess to you either before he goes off to war, so you could wait for him to return and then Marry him.

.Or After he comes home from war and he picks you up and kisses you.

.If you do accept his feelings he will be with you right away.

.If he can he will marry you.

.If he cannot he still will be with you and he would plan to never marry but adopt kids.

.If you turned down his feelings and or worse been with someone else, he will kill your partner and then take you as a prisoner keeping you locked away where no one can steal you from him again.

.You turned down his love, he will make sure he is the only one you can love.

.He of course is still loving and affectionate, but now you know he will do whatever it takes to keep you as his and his alone!

I will admit, i know incredibly little about this character!!!! :D (I tried to do research, but do call me our or dm if I wrote some things wrong, I can totally redo or make a pt 2 or something!!)

Like, . . . I know he’s evil. And has an island. And works for Shao Kahn. And is one of the more first big boss fights?? And that 3d is like, Deception, and Armageddon, and Shaolin Monks (the cutscenes only version of that game is so funny, the storyline is so fast).

And not even zesty evil!!! But like, actually evil. :(

Small Warning (?): It just kinda feels like there are some darker undertones in these?? Not exactly yandere like, but mildly possessive, and little to no hesitation to hurt others for you. It’s not implied that he’d kill, but it is implied that he’d use them as experiments (which I can totally change if anyone gets uncomfortable with!!!)

🐛 Your his baby, how could he not love you!! He’s cruel and a villain, but your his Precious, he couldn’t just let you go <3

🐛 While a man of evil and Shao Kahn’s sorcerer, he would never make fun of you for using or needing padding

🐛 Babyspace regressor? You’re very tiny!! Of course you might need some help, and that’s okay!!

🐛 Toddler? Well, accidents happen all the time, and he’d rather be safe than sorry anyways

🐛 Big kid? Well he’d still classify you as a baby, but whatever you say <3

🐛 Middlespace regressor? Everyone can use diapers!! Whether for medicine or comfort, that’s your regression, and no one else’s

🐛 And if anyone were to magically tell you otherwise, well, they strangely disappear!! :O (and maybe end up in Shang Tsung’s lab)

🐛 Might get a bit grumpy if you wake him up at night, but almost any thoughts of anger or upset wash away when he sees how upset you are

🐛 . . . Although he’s also super tired and might put on your padding backwards

🐛 It is literally not his fault, it’s two am, and he has work tomorrow

🐛 Although he’d rather you wake him up than sit sobbing in bed, work or no work, you’re his first priority

🐛 He’ll also get some of those potty mattress protections, just in case you may or may not have an accident again (but only if your cool with it)

🐛 Magic show distractions!!!

🐛 He could give you something to fidget with during the process . . . Or he could use his super cool sorcerer powers and make a little light show to distract you

🐛 From what i’ve seen in almost every Shang Tsung, they have a way with words

🐛 So it’s not him buying your regression supplies, it’s Shao Kahn <3

🐛 Shang Tsung works for him, how could he not also supply for his precious baby that he gets very little time with because of how often he has to work and prepare for the tornoment?

🐛 ^ Lies, Shang Tsung can and will pause any type of working if you regress and come for him

🐛 Maybe unless he’s in the middle of an experiment, but he’s left his studies many times before

🐛 Your not really allowed to talk to Shao Kahn though :\ (Shang Tsung’s worried Shao will be mean or cruel to you in your headspace)

🐛 But you get much time with Dada!! :D

🐛 He’ll make a little regression area in his laboratory!! It’s Shang Tsung’s Island, who would tell him he couldn’t put a secret passage way into a small regression area just for you?

🐛 ^ No one, that’s who, so of course he does it!! (and Shao Kahn gets the bill for it >:3)

🐛 He does make sure to put it more where the potions or his study books are and not where his experiments are (he doesn’t like you seeing them in your headspace)

🐛 Don’t you dare ever try to touch his potions, he will get incredibly upset and you’ll get in trouble

🐛 They’re for big kids and big kids only, plus you could get seriously hurt and Dada might not be able to help you from some of them

🐛 Or you could just regress in Dada’s room, which is much comfier anyways

🐛 If you end up having any type of accidents, he’s very gentle about the process, gently shushing and comforting you, drawing you a nice bath and picking out some comfy clothes

🐛 His clothes to be exact, what could be better?

🐛 If you’re ever embarrassed about using padding, he’d call you silly

🐛 There’s no reason too!! Whether for comfort, or medical, or just because, if it works for you, then he’s more than happy to help with the process

🐛 Your his baby after all, and he’s going to make sure you have the world <3

Eyyy, sorry this took so long to get to, I’ve been in a Lowkey hiatus lately so I haven’t been getting any writing done at all, plus I’ve had a shit load of school work I’ve been needing to do too(even though it’s basically pointless, the school system is failing us all tbh.)

Hope these are okay though, I’m making these general hcs for him. I’m pretty sure I wrote some general ones for him before but I’m gonna consider this a rewrite lmao

To get this started, Li Shang has always given me manipulative/protective type of yandere vibes. On one hand, he wants to keep his darling safe and away from people he doesn’t trust, but he could never bring himself to harm his darling, which is where the manipulative part comes in

Shang knows that eventually his guilt will catch up to him, but for now, he wants to keep you to himself. And by doing so, he’ll basically be turning his darling against anyone they were once close to

Once you plant an idea or a rumor into someone’s head, it’s hard to get it out. Especially when it’s something like hearing about anyone you know secretly talks about you behind your back. Those are the types of things Shang would do.

However, not only would he manipulate his darling, but everyone else as well. Oh, you wanted to spend time with his darling? Yeah that’s too bad, they just don’t feel comfortable being around you right now. I’m sure they’ll come around eventually though

Shang will slowly work his way into his darlings head, convincing them that he’s the only one they can trust. And eventually, they do. After having so many people against you, you can’t help but want to go to the one person who’s willing to comfort you.

Q = Interviewer BM: Bao Mu (Han Wenqing’s VA) XL: Xia Lei (Yu Wenzhou’s VA) SM: San Mu (Sun Xiang’s VA)

Q：As the voice actors for these three characters, how do you see your own character?

BM: At the start of the recording, they told me that [Wenqing’s] character is especially interesting; the moment he starts to speak, everyone just feels like they have to hand over their wallets to him. I feel that, due to his upright and frank personality, and he’s very opinionated, plus the fact that he’s such a powerful and skilled individual — all of that genuine self-confidence contributes to that kind of tone when he speaks. That’s not to say he’s a person who rejects others and keeps them at a distance. But the kind of attitude that he exudes makes people feel the urge to hand over their wallets to him.

XL: Yu Wenzhou is an especially calm person, and during our initial discussion about the character, the word most used to describe him is “gentle,” or that he’s a “nuan nan” (lit. "warm man”; internet slang for a man that exudes warmth and kindness). In the end, his state of mind constantly remains calm and collected. Even though his hand speed is not as fast as the other contestants’ in the professional league, he really knows how to fully utilize his own strength — his strength in his temperament. So he’s able to maximize his tactical value; in a team match, his function is even more obvious. As for voicing the character itself, I especially want to display his calm and confident attitude.

SM: From the first glance, you’d think, “Is he actually a villain?” But when you watch until the very end, you’d feel that he’s the kind of person with a youthful attitude. Even more of a coincidence is that he and I are both Sagittarius. So there are times when I feel the same way and somewhat understand this character’s thoughts. I think he’s the kind of person that would work very, very hard when it comes to things that he enjoys — just as I do. He might be a bit of a tsundere, but he has that shounen and hot-blooded mindset; it’s quite adorable.

Q: While recording for the donghua, are there any scenes that are especially memorable?

BM: In the scene when [Wenqing] first appears — when he’s running on the treadmill — and comes out after his training to discover that people are discussing Ye Xiu… Not discussing Ye Xiu, but saying that someone amazing has appeared in the new server, and everyone suspects that it’s Ye Xiu since his achievements are already at the same level as Ye Xiu’s finest back in the days. About 12 seconds. And then Old Han said, “Hmph, if that’s really Ye Qiu, then that means he’s gotten worse.” You’d feel that Old Han is that kind of person, that… “Tch, it’s Ye Xiu — only I’m allowed to criticize him; others aren’t allowed to do that.” Right, because after all, he was a strong opponent in the past. I respect this opponent, but once this opponent regresses, I’d feel troubled as well. Since we’re both well-known in the game, if you regress, I wouldn’t feel proud either. But other people can’t say that about him! Only I can!

XL: The most memorable scene for me… Actually, when I was reading the part in the book when Yu Wenzhou is analyzing with only a few limited clues — for example, the reason Liu Hao paid so much attention to Lord Grim, or some of Lord Grim’s abilities and new records etc. He immediately comes to the conclusion that Lord Grim is Ye Qiu. And so during this scene, I feel that this person is really too amazing.

SM: The most memorable scene is… ah, taking the account card, because this is probably everyone’s first impression of Sun Xiang’s character, and they just decided from the beginning that he’s a villain because they haven’t read the latter part. At the time when I was voicing this character, that was also my first time trying a “heel” character type. And at the time, does anyone remember the scene with Excellent Era’s manager Cui Li? He’s voiced by my teacher Mr. Shang Hong. I have a teacher complex, so when I acted scenes with my teacher, that feeling was pretty awesome. But the most important thing is that this character… I think this character is very charismatic, and so my first impression of him is quite deep. The most interesting scene… Since I’ve also read the novels… I’ve read through “The King’s Avatar” once already and am now reading it for the second time. The most interesting scene with him — two, there are two. The first scene is during the All-Stars Game playing against Han Wenqing, he said, “I’ve lost this time, fair and square, but this may not be the case next time.” That is the moment when I feel his character’s attitude and spirit burst out for the first time. Another scene is when he calls Xiao Shiqing “little/insignificant matter” (note: they have the same pinying). Hahaha! Very interest, very interesting, right? His character is really adorable.

Q: Next, I’d like to ask Mr. Xia Lei and Mr. San Mu, which lines did you find the hardest to voice act?

XL: The most difficult lines… Well, I can’t say it’s the most difficult since Captain Yu’s entire fundamental — as I’ve mentioned before — is his calmly confident attitude. So when he’s analyzing tactics or his opponents, his mentality remains composed. I remember in episode 10 when he figures out that Lord Grim is Ye Qiu — that line is short, something like, “This person is Ye Qiu.” I recall it’s a line like that, so under normal circumstances when we’re trying to figure out someone’s identity, we might use this kind of tone, “This person… is Ye Qiu?" Or something like that. But this doesn’t apply to Yu Wenzhou; he’s especially calm and confident. So this line, though very short, left a very deep impression on me while I was recording it.

SM: There’s a very classic scene in the first episode, in which there’s a very memorable line; it’s “I’ll let the title of Battle God resound in the world of Glory once more.” This is Sun Xiang’s first well-known quote from the novels. While recording this line, and since this is one of the first few popular lines Sun Xiang has, this line has to be recorded many times. First was because I didn’t have a complete grasp of this character yet, and second was the importance of this line, so this line had to be recorded many times. When the line comes up again while people are watching the first episode, everyone will type this line on the screen, and I feel very satisfied when I see that. It seems that I’ve met everyone’s expectations. “I’ll let the title of Battle God resound in the world of Glory once more.”

Q: Another question for Mr. San Mu. Before voice acting for the donghua, have you ever read “The King’s Avatar” novels?

SM: Yes. I’d done some online voice acting before, and I’ve acted in a few works related to “The King’s Avatar”. For example, in a few radio dramas, I voiced Luo Ji and Lu Hanwen, and in order to understand the characters better, I read the novels. The novels were quite good, and so I just kept reading. Coincidentally, while I was reading it, the work was still being serialized. When I got to the last chapter, that was when the series just ended, so I felt honoured to have finished the entire series; I felt that the series was really good, really amazing.

Q: Another voice actor’s previous performances are very different from his current role in the series. Mr. Bao Mu, what do you think about that?

BM: The characters that I’ve voiced previously are rarely the cold and haughty type; they’re usually warmer, older characters — perhaps teachers who displayed a caring nature for the younger characters, to teach them patiently, or to be friendly to others. Of course, Han Wenqing might also actually be quite friendly, but he only shows his cold and haughty side, like, “[Give me your] Wallet!” It’s pretty amusing. As well, his type of personality is especially good for us voice actors, makes it easier for us; it’s the fact that he doesn’t shout or scream, so for us, that’s especially good.

Q: At this point of the story, all three captains have come into contact with Lord Grim, and lately many people have started paying more attention to Captain Yu after his introduction. I’d like to ask Mr. Xia Lei: What do you expect from your character from this point on?

XL: There are many popular characters in “The King’s Avatar”, and each of them has their own charismatic traits, so I believe fans of those characters will especially look forward to their appearances. Captain Yu has a lot of fans as well, and in terms of Yu Wenzhou’s plot development, and his character’s portrayal, fans will have their own preferences and thoughts. From what I understand, I believe Yu Wenzhou’s future appearances will be very satisfying. Even though Yu Wenzhou’s character itself… he was portrayed as crippled in the novels, but I don’t really agree with this point. His so-called crippled hand speed is still considered too fast compared to the average players; it might just be that he’s a bit slower than Huang Shaotian and Ye Qiu — it’s merely that. But I hope that everyone will pay more attention to his character’s control of the bigger picture, his tactics used during team matches, and his overall abilities. I also hope that, through my voice, I can bring more colours and life to this character.

Li Shang is beyond shocked and furious. For one, how dare you attempt escaping from him? How could you do something so shallow as to leave your yandere husband behind. Although that’s when Shang starts to think. You had been very distant and quiet lately, but Shang just blamed it on not being able to go out of your shared home that often. That was it! Someone must have tainted your pretty little head, and fed you thoughts of running away from your caring and loving husband.

The first thing he’d do is hunt you down, which-not so surprisingly- was very easy, considering he is the general Shang. Even if that means dragging you back home kicking and screaming. He could always come up with excuses to tell the neighbors.

Once he finally has you tucked away safely in your home, Shang will start pressing you for answers; demanding you to tell him who had started talking to you, who had fed you those ridiculous ideas of ‘escape’.

When you finally give him an answer-and you will-, Shang will go off to find said person, already having millions of ways to deal with that piece of scum. Hell, Shang may even take you with him, just so you could witness the absolute pain and torture he’d put them through. Once you return home again, Shang will make sure to teach you a lesson, how if you intended on defying his will again, you’ll have to be punished.

Milo is so distraught, he’s in such disbelief as to why you’d up and leave him like that. He provided for you, he always made sure you were safe and protected, loved, comforted. Isn’t that enough for you...? Was it because he hadn’t been spending that much time with you lately, since he’s mostly been working for those past few days? If so, that’s ok! He understands now! You wanted to get his attention so he would spend more time with you!! First though, Milo would let you have your fun. Somewhere deep down, he wanted you to have whatever short freedom you had left before he came to take you away once more. He could easily track you down, but he might as well let you have fun first. After all, you hadn’t gone outside in awhile.

Once he deems you’ve had enough time, he’d gather some of the Atlantians with him to go and look for you, (which probably only took around ten to twenty minutes), and have you right back in his arms where you belong. When he drags you back home, he can’t help the grin that stretches across his face as he watches you struggle against his hold the whole way back

You’ll be smothered with affection and comfort. That’s what you wanted right? His attention? He’s more than happy to give that to you. He could have you screaming in no time. Take that as you want.

Although this time he’ll make sure to put on heavier locks for the door, and a better tracking chip for the next time you try to wander off and leave him like that again

King Triton would be PISSED

How could you leave him? The king.???

He’d easily be able to find you if he decided to sent some servants after you, but instead, he’d do it himself, just so you could feel immediate fear and regret once he finally finds you. And since he’s the king of the sea, he’ll find you in no time.(assuming you’re a merperson, of course. Normally the king is quite humble and kind to you, he treats you as a delicate piece of glass that shant ever be harmed or touched. But you broke his heart, and went against his rules.

You could’ve ruled the kingdom happily together, but you just had to go and make things difficult didn’t you? Atlantis would be in an uproar about the disappearance of their ruler, some would even volunteer to go and look for you, but the king would quickly shoo them off, saying that he’ll look for his ‘beloved bride’ himself.

As soon as he has you back in his kingdom however, expect to be locked up for the next few weeks, and having all your privileges you had before quickly stripped away from you. No more going out, no more talking to other people, no leaving your room, no entertainment, etc. only you, and your empty, barren, room.

Kocoum would be surprisingly calm throughout the whole ordeal. Naturally, he’d assume you must have gotten lost on your way back home, and couldn’t find your way back, since you were new to the territory and all(he’d be sure to help you out with that) And since he’s already got the land memorized in his head, he could easily find you himself, which is exactly what he does. As soon as you’re even 10 minutes late, he’d already start packing a few things to go out and look for you, since most would quickly lose themselves in the adundance of trees and winding paths

Once he does find you, he’d check for any injuries, feed you if you’re hungry, hug the hell out of you, then immediately take you back home to safety. Kocoum would never limit your time outside just because of a simple mistake like getting lost(even tho’ that’s not what really happened but let’s not let Kocoum know that-)

He would act quite clingy and worried for the next few days though, constantly being at your side to make sure nothing bad happens again, and of course whenever you’re alone he’d tell you where you can and can’t go, places to go to when you’re lost, etc etc. stuff like that.

Kocoum loves the hell out of you, so it wouldn’t come as a surprise to many others once he starts becoming more protective after what had happened, I mean, he’s your husband, and which means he’ll constantly worry about you either way. So while it may seem your time outside isn’t limited, the area around you surely is. Can’t risk you getting lost again, now can we?

Jim is insanely worried, he hates to think about what happened to you, thinking about how you could he hurt, or worse. So he’d make sure to search the area as soon as possible, making sure to check everywhere they can get to, or where they think you can get to. Jim is mostly concerned for your safety than anything, he’s not so much ‘angry’ as he is corncerned.

He’d have time to scold you when you’re back with him later anyways.

Although you escaping also makes him confused, doesn’t he provide you with anything you could possibly ever want? Doesn’t he love you enough? If not, he’s 100% willing to show you how much he really loves you once more when you get back home with him.

Hawkins could never even think about hurting you, not way in hell could he ever bring himself to do such a thing to you. However, he does have other ways to get you to stay with him, and completely forget about even the thought of wanting to leave him.

Jim would try and resolve things with affection and physical intimacy, thinking those would be the best way to get you to stay with him

Charming would try his best to keep the whole ordeal in secret. He wouldn’t want the whole kingdom in a panic because their future ruler had run away, right? That would cause so many problems on his end. So instead, he’d only send out a handful of guards to go after you, with any luck, you’ll be out of the kingdom by then.

The prince doesn’t want people to find out about your escape(mostly because if the kingdom knew their future ruler had been kidnapped, that would completely ruin his image) so after sending a few guards, he’d just go himself, hoping to the gods he finds you soon(don’t wanna attract any attention)

Once he finds you, he’d act as if nothing ever really happened in the first place. He’ll simply brush it off as a one time thing and take you back to your shared kingdom together. Once you’re back home, safe and sound, that’s when he’d really show. The prince will start scolding the ever living hell out of you just to get his point across.

Charming doesn’t want you leaving again like that, so instead, he’d ask for better locks, and you’d receive less privileges. That’s for your punishment, obviously. You wouldn’t be able to get away with it that easily.

He’d quite literally take on an entire army for you. He’d slaughter as many people as it takes if it means he could be with you.

Shang knows it’s wrong to think the things he does, but at the same time, he doesn’t feel any shame for it. He knows how infatuated he is with you and he doesn’t seem to mind one bit.

Male or female, it doesn’t matter to him. If you’re male, then he probably met you when he and his troops were sent to deal with the hans, with you most likely being one of his soldiers. During training he’d see how determined you were, and Shang admired that. After talking and getting to know you though, he starts to worry for your safety. His mindset completely changes to fear and worry for you,

Shang would never want you to get hurt, especially in battle. So somehow, he’d come up with an excuse to force you out of the war and back home. Even if you looked distraught and desperate while packing your things, he knows it’s for the best. And as soon as he and his troops save China, the first thing he’d do is go to your home village and pay you a little visit.

If you’re female, he most likely met you either before or after the war. You could’ve lived near him, possibly been his neighbor, and that’s how he’d grow attached to you, easily being able to watch you. He’d even try and postpone leaving his village whenever he could just so he could spend more time with you. He’d jump on the opportunity to court you, claiming how you’re meant to be together

Actually Shang would court you even if you’re male as well, although you’d have to keep it under wraps.

You’d be surprised at how many people Shang has killed for you already, convincing himself it’s all for your safety, how once he gets rid of the obstacles in his way you two can finally be together.
