hnnng i'm not even done with house md yet but should i get into psych??

Absolutely! Psych is a very very good show. Even though it is a lighthearted show, it still has some serious moments and elements to it. Psych is the kind of show I can watch over and over again at any time because of how light and funny it is. The characters are absolutely loveable. The cast is so precious. Just everything about it is so perfect. Psych is eight seasons long. They also have three movies and a podcast together. The cast really wants to make more movies together.

I adore House MD, obviously, but it is more heavy than the show Psych is. Which sometimes I am not in the mood for. Psych has an episode for everyone. They have a musical episode, Bigfoot episode, cowboy episode, a Christmas episode, uhhh, they have an episode where they all had a late night out together and cannot remember anything that happened to them, a demon possession/“Exorcist” parody episode, a parody of Stephen King’s “The Shining”, a vampire episode, werewolf episode, etc.

There’s so many characters in the show that I just adore. Lassie is my favourite, Woody, Gus, Shawn, McNab, etc. There’s a character for everyone to enjoy. I just adore this show so much and the cast included.

It’s not mentioned in the show, but on Twitter a while back the creators of the show just randomly posted something along the lines of “Oh, yeah, lassie? Not straight. He’s actually pansexual-“ I do believe this was from the actual creators account. So, I thought that was cool.

Lassie and his partner detective Juliet O’Hara are such an amazing example of shows portraying male and female friendships properly. They actually make them friends and have it remain that way. I’m not saying that two people of the opposite sex cannot be together or anything, but it seems every time I watch a show they never make the guy and girl just be friends. There’s always tension and sex and then that’s all it becomes. They are just such an amazing duo and a perfect example of two people of the opposite sex just being besties without any weird tension or sex. I adore it.

I just so so highly recommend Psych to anyone. It’s one of my comfort shows. It’s so nice. Psych, the show and movies, is available on Peacock and Amazon Prime for free. Another show along the lines of Psych but is more serious is called The Mentalist. That show is also SO good. I highly recommend Psych and The Mentalist to anyone looking for something to watch. [:

Reasons Psych and Supernatural should have a crossover:

1. Woody (the coroner from Psych) being Zachariah’s vessel.

2. Shawn and Cas talking about cats, possibly talking to cats/interrogating them

3. There are so many shared actors between Psych and Supernatural (Woody/Zachariah, Lassiter/Cain and many more)

4. Just the fact that there are literally so many “references” to Supernatural in Psych and the fact that Shawn and Gus are essentially a slightly less codependent version of Sam and Dean (anything can be a supernatural reference if you try hard enough.)

5. It would mean Metatron occasionally works part time as a security guard at an old folks home as a guy named Jervis.

6. Shawn and Gus could meet the ghost facers who got lost in their way to LA and ended up in Santa Barbara.

7. It would mean at some point Cain decided to go to the Police academy and join the Santa Barbara police department. (Alternatively one of his descendants looks just like him) (However I’m going with the first option because it definitely explains Lassiter’s fascination with the Civil War.

8. Fake FBI/Fake Psychic hijinks

9. Shawn would be a role model/older brother figure for Dean (he’s two years older than him).

10. Both Shawn and Gus and Sam and Dean get mistaken as a couple occasionally.

11. Shawn likes Bees, Cas likes Bees, and Cain (thereby Lassiter) likes Bees.

12. Shawn and Dean fangirling over cowboys.

13. The dual ADHD hijinks of Dean and Shawn, mixed with Sam and Gus being over their shit.

14. Dean hitting on Juliet only to get shit from Shawn even thought they aren’t dating yet.

15. Juliet flirting back with Dean to mess with Shawn

16. Lassiter recognizing Sam and Dean from the FBI’s most wanted from 2006-2007ish and trying to prove it’s actually them but failing.

17. Shawn Spencer, Psych season 5 episode 2, “nothing shuts my pie hole but pie.” Just another reason Shawn and Dean would be best friends.

18. Shawn and Dean both have an obsession with scooby doo.

Just Please.

P.S. I love the idea of Shawn and Dean being best friends for many reasons, however, Shawn being a passenger Princess, and Dean not allowing anyone else to drive is just too perfect.

P.P.S. Also Woody being Zachariah’s vessel is just hilarious to me.

Now, I know you're wondering who would be Shawn and Gus, as they are the main characters. I say to you, the roles are shared by Logan and Roman. I'll use a version of the first episode as an example:

Logan and Roman are hanging out, talking, when Logan makes a quick call to the police station with an anonymous tip. Janus, who is on the other end, realizes that this number has called in a suspicious amount of anonymous tips, and requests for the caller to come to the station. Logan, confused, goes, and Roman comes with him.

When they get there, Janus accuses Logan of being a criminal, and Roman quickly covers for him by saying he's psychic. The two of them have a typically comical argument about this when Janus goes to get his partner, as Logan doesn't believe in psychics and resents being associated with them; Roman resents Logan apparently preferring to be arrested.

When Janus comes back with Patton, Logan is resigned to keeping up the charade until they can be released. Patton, of course, is incredibly excited about meeting a "real psychic", and his support bolsters Roman to start making more and more claims about Logan's "prodigious abilities", until Patton exclaims that maybe the psychic can help them with a case they're stuck on. Roman (enthusiastically) and Logan (hesitantly) agree, and as they work on the case, Virgil shows up, asking why there are civilians on their investigation.

Janus starts in on how he didn't want them and still thinks they should arrest them, but he is drowned out by Roman and Patton explaining that the psychic and his "assistant" are being consulted on the case. Virgil is about to order them off (and possibly to be detained) when Logan, who was not paying any attention to the argument, interrupts with the most promising lead thus far, so Virgil relents, but parts by saying they are still being held under suspicion.

The episode continues, and Logan and Roman solve the case (with Logan providing the near-photographic memory and precision, as well as most of the worry over continually lying to the police, while Roman provides the classic Shawn charisma, easily imagined half-truths, and cavalier attitude toward the rules). After a bit, they meet Remus, the extremely weird but somehow eerily competent coroner!

Janus continues to not believe a word the dynamic duo say, but infuriatingly can't hold on to a shred of evidence, while Patton seems to trust them implicitly. Virgil lets the two pseudo-detectives become regular consultants (especially after Roman sets them up a mostly legitimate business), but is still delightfully snarky and skeptical (whether he actually believes all that "psychic" racket is yet to be seen).

Other than this, who knows!

funniest character : woody ohmygod i love how kurt fuller is zachariah telling dean hes the micheal sword and giving him stomach cancer on spn and on psych hes like. the coroner who draws on cadavers

best looking character: juliet. 14 year old me thought “i want to be her soo bad cus shes so pretty and shes so cool…. this certainly doesn’t mean anything about me”

3 fav ships: none i dont really “ship” anything on psych. im not wild about shawnjuliet cus he spends the whole series lying to her even when they’re sleeping together that’s hard to watch and root for. i guess if pressed i would say shawngus but its not something i really think about

least favorite character: i mean i guess henry. and not really in a “hes an abusive father throw him away” mentality in more of i think henry was under explored and could have used a lot more of it. cus i mean the relationship between henry and shawn we saw on the show was very much “shawn was being childish when he thought it was wrong henry locked him in the trunk of a car at 10 years old but really henry was just teaching him valuable life skills” and i would MUCH rather it have been acknowledged as an abusive relationship but that they can still grow and change. and obviously they weren’t gonna do that henry’s a cop and the show had to make sure everything the cops did was completely justified but i think it would have been a lot more interesting if they gave more credence into the emotional and physical abuse henry inflicted on shawn but them still being able to grow and heal

why i watch it: oh its so fun!!! love the case of the week basis and the fun campy aspect. friday the 13h is one of my favorite episodes. and it’s like a classic mid 2000s broadcast television show it even has a title sequence!

I love that Shawn and Woody's first meeting is Shawn lying out his ass to Woody about a lot of important stuff and as far as we know Woody doesn't even care. Shawn and Gus bailed and came back later revealing they weren't a dead body and coroner assistant, and he went "Well, this just means I have Two Potential Friends instead of just one now."

{ Shortly after King Camhlaidh’s coronation

Her glare was icy, and through it, King Camhlaidh was reminded of a popular mortal saying. ‘If looks could kill”... Yes, if looks could kill, his sister would have slain him a thousand times over by now. At this point in time though, she probably would much rather do it with her own bare hands than through something as removed as a glare, and he had no illusion that were it not for the guards currently residing just outside the the throne room or the power she knew he now wielded, Tara just might have tried it.

“You cannot be serious!” The princess’ voice echoed through the empty throne room. Not a single gentry nor creature of Seelie stood witness, deliberately so. The last thing he needed were for his subjects to catch wind that the princess had been plotting to assassinate the crown prince. Discord among the royal family at such a perilous time, so soon after the unsolved murder of the former king, could easily be their undoing. The guards stationed outside were of his own personal retinue, and he knew they would not breathe a word to others, at risk of punishment if nothing else.  

The king sighed from his place atop his throne, a construction of complex yet elegant intertwining boughs of wood and plants. The diadem marking his rule glittered just above his brow. “I am deadly serious, sister.” Even to him, his voice was as icy as her glare. “An assassination plot against the crown prince, even unsuccessful, is a most serious matter.” He should feel hurt by the knowledge his recently regained memories had ‘gifted’ him. They were siblings, and though they had drifted apart after their mother’s passing, to go so far as a plot to kill him was... He should be hurt, and maybe under normal circumstances he would have been. But maybe the last vestiges of his ‘humanity’ had drowned in the blood pouring from his father’s corpse and burned to ashes by the poison that had ravaged his system shortly thereafter.

He rose from the throne and began to move towards her, step by step, feet silent against the wood and grass that covered the floor. “Once upon a time, I was a more compassionate man.” Step. “When I heard of your plan, I chose to remove myself from the equation rather than risk whatever wrath and heartbreak our father would suffer should he learn of this betrayal.” Step. “But our father is no longer here.” And finally, Camhlaidh stood right before her, a cool glare piercing his sister. “Of which I must ask. Tara, did you have our father killed?” 

Tara, to her credit, held her ground against his advance, but even she could not mask the shock that flashed across her face. “Wh-what? Camhlaidh, don’t be ridiculous! How could I ever--”

“Don’t.” The single word cut through the air, leaving silence in its wake. “Do not...act as if it is an impossible accusation when I stand here freshly returned from your first scheme!”  The man’s fingers flickered as he spoke, and in a moment a length of woody, flexible material appeared in his grasp. Tara’s eyes widened upon recognition of the whip, and though she steeled herself, it still did not halt the sharp sting of pain flaring through her skin when her brother’s wrist twitched and the end of the whip lashed itself around her arm. A hiss of pain left the princess’ lips, and the weight of the magic embedded within the whip brought her to her knees. Throughout it all, her brother’s cool gaze, now forever scarred with silver flecks remnant of the poison that had nearly taken his life, did not flicker in the slightest.

“I will ask you again,” Camhlaidh spoke in measured beats, “did you orchestrate our father’s death?”

Tara gasped when the whip seemed to tighten painfully against her skin and the enchantment within felt as if it were burrowing deep within her flesh, tugging and pulling and forcing the truth from her lips with a pained noise. “N-No, I did not. I knew nothing of such plan, nor from who, and I would have stopped it if I had. I--he was our father, Camhlaidh.” With that, the whip retreated and the woman sucked in a grateful breath of air, yet the king’s gaze remained unmoved. 

“And I am your brother.” He began to turn, back towards his throne, but paused as if about to say something. But instead, he continued on, step by step, back to his throne. Once settled in, he regarded her again. “You were not responsible for our father, but the fact of your treachery towards me remains. For that, I sentence you to banishment from Seelie.” The earthen floor beneath them began to rumble, shaking through the connection at an order from its king as Tara froze in place. “You are to live in the mortal world for the duration of you banishment, just as I did when I fled from your machinations. Be grateful you keep your head, Princess Tara.” 

It was as if the ground had fallen out from beneath her, and already Tara could feel the shift in the land. What had once seemed so welcoming and comforting, Seelie, now felt as if it were rebelling against her very presence. “No...” Tara whispered horrified. “No! You cannot! Seelie is all that I have ever known, I have never left this land. You call it a kindness, but this is a death sentence!” Seething, she took a step forward, but with a wave of Camhlaidh’s hand, the heavy wooden doors at the entrance of the hall swung open, and his guard marched inwards and towards the princess. When one reached out to grab her arm, Tara jerked it away with a sneer and straightened. The look she gave conveyed her message without any need for words. ‘I will not be dragged out like a prisoner, I will walk out on my own two feet like the princess of Seelie that I am.’ If nothing else, Camhlaidh mused to himself, she had always had that sense of pride. 

And as he watched his sister march from the room, throwing one last hate-filled glare back at him as his guards surrounded her, he found himself grateful when the doors swung shut and he was alone once more. She hated him for this, no doubt. Perhaps it was cruel of him to send her away like that. Maybe she would begin to learn more about the beauty of other lands in the mortal world, as he had. Thoughts swirled through his head, unending and without resolution. But mostly, he just felt tired. So tired.

Here’s a design for an Arwen doll, deliberately different than anything in Jackson’s series. I designed it to emulate what such a doll might have looked like if it had been designed by a housewife in the late ‘50′s-early ‘60′s: she has the more childlike face popular to china dolls back then and a dress that’s a 3-way cross between the 3 Disney princesses that then existed, vintage fairy-tale book illustrations, and pictures of Queen Elizabeth II’s coronation. I figure those are the most likely sources of inspiration for your average housewife of that time. It incidentally turned out like a fairly believable Disney-fied houppelande. I have to admit, the only reason I fell down this rabbit hole was an idea for a Toy Story fanfic involving an Arwen doll older than Woody. Since LOTR toys wouldn’t have existed until after Woody’s Roundup would have been cancelled, it would have to be home made.

Bonjour et bienvenue, it is 7c and cloudy. I am going to a concert in town this afternoon, the Orchestré Symphonique de l’Aube, Peter and the Wolf, as well as excerpts from The Barber of Seville and Carmen.

Talking of excerpts: here is the poem for today, Who Has Seen The Wind? by Christina Rossetti

This week I was asked again, why I had chosen Bar-sur-Aube to live in. The local people find it difficult to comprehend why any “étrangèrs” would choose to make their home here. I try to explain, it is the countryside, the facilities, train station, cinema, hospital, the history of the town not just with champagne making but with the growing of hemp, the seeds being used in foods, the fibres used in stationery, construction insulation and in the textile industry, with the woody part used as winter mulching. There has been a settlement here since the Iron Age and in the Middle Ages “Champagne Fairs” in mid-February and mid-April saw merchants from Flanders and Italy trading oriental spices and silks for textiles and raw materials. The half timbered three and four storey houses are perhaps an indication of the wealth in the town at that time. We still have grand old buildings, like the old Palais de Justice (pictured above) which now houses the music school. Yes, young people here are actively invited to learn to play the piano, flute, violin, etc. It may appear to be a dull and dusty town which sees tourists passing through on their way to some bigger city but this town has a lot to offer a tourist if they just “scratch the surface”. Blimey! That sounded a bit like the Sunday sermon 😉.

So let’s look at my week which didn’t get off to a good start……

My appointment with the dietician didn’t bode well from the start, her door was open, she made no attempt to come to check the waiting area and instead RANG MY PHONE!! When she heard it ring out in the waiting area she called me in, met me with that false smile (doesn’t reach the eyes) and as I handed her my food diary (for which I think I should have been awarded an A* GCSE) she glanced at it, said “you don’t eat the same breakfast everyday?” and proceeded to huff and puff over what I had written. She then produced a couple of sheets (which I appear to have mislaid) started to make notes in her file and as I was trying to explain something to her (I could see she wasn’t listening) she said “I don’t understand what you are saying and I don’t have time to listen to you!” Then she asked me for a cheque and bundled me out of the office. I have another appointment at 10:30 tomorrow, after which she can stuff her false smile and rude comments where the sun don’t shine!

I had another rendezvous with the Dentist, was I “coronated” that day…… no of course not! Looks like the crown will be placed (on my tooth) next week 🙄.

It was the AGM for the groups that meet at the “ancien collège”, of which the knitting group is a part. I had hardly put my toe inside the room before I was surrounded (well it seemed like that) by people using my name, wanting to ask me something, the 92 year old member of our group was waving to me and pointing to the chair next to hers. Anyway it turned out that (they weren’t after my autograph) they were keen to know if I would take over the role of key holder, subs collector, etc., as our previous “leader” had resigned. It was also proposed that the meeting be changed from a Wednesday to a Friday (not really convenient for me as that is my day with the refugee ladies) but as the group was down to just three members and a Friday would provide an additional two the proposal was voted in. The 92 year old lady, the doyenne of the group, has “all her buttons on”, and she will be assisting me with the running of the group. There was galette des rois and champagne afterwards, I had a small glass of champagne and had to refuse another helping of both.

My young friend, Pauline, messaged me from Eire, she had arrived in Dublin and is spending time looking around the city before she starts work on Tuesday. She was so excited about being there and I hope that the six month internship works out well for her.

I cannot decide if I am becoming a boring old **** as I have been thinking of what I will plant up in my garden this year. I have been and bought beetroot seeds (I really enjoyed the beets last year), I bought sweet pepper seeds (will try them again) although I didn’t have a lot of success before. Of course there will be broad beans (need them planting very soon) and peas as well as the salad leaves I grew last year (they were lovely) I will buy two “beef steak” tomato plants as I preferred them to the cherry tomatoes. I have bought the bee and butterfly mixed seeds again as the flowers do provide lots of colour in the garden. I also planted up the snowdrops Anie had brought for me and cleared the few weeds from the raised bed where the hyacinth, tête à tête, tulips and iris are producing lots of greenery. Oh I could go on but I don’t want to bore you!

I have also been thinking about a couple of breaks away, my friends in Strasbourg want me to go and see them there and I fancy a little break somewhere else. I had been looking at a coach holiday but I am not sure if I want to be away as long as the tours I have seen. I do prefer to go somewhere on the train, where I can go to see what I want to see, the only difference is that with the tour I would be with a group of people (which can be a good or bad thing). Oh decisions, decisions!

I am also keen to do my walking everyday (another thing the dietician asked about but wasn’t interested), I have noticed though that “all roads lead to the bar”, well it provides me with a seat, coffee and the newspaper before I walk back home. I really think that I should take a right turn when leaving my estate, that will take me to the river which I love to see. The only problem is there is nowhere convenient for me to sit and watch the world go by. Oh well we all have to make choices in life 😂.

I have been doing a little bit of knitting again, I really don’t think that I will be knitting anything for myself again, it is too heavy, but it is easy to knit small items. One of the new ladies coming up the knitting group was telling me that she does Tunisian crochet, now I have googled that and I think I could do it and that it wouldn’t be too heavy etc so I am going to order a pack of crochet hooks and give it a go.

I rang my cousin in Essex, he had been to the opticians and it wasn’t good news, he will lose his vision, how soon no-one knows. It is rather sad as he lives alone and has always enjoyed pottering around in his garden and greenhouse. Well keep doing what you enjoy for as long as you can, I say.

I think I should get a move on, as I need my hair washing and I have to decide what I will wear to go to the concert this afternoon.

Oh yes, it is a month today since I had this “foreign body” planted in my circumflex artery. I must admit it has made a difference and long may it continue to do so.

Oh Halo Reach. I love Halo. You know, I used to have an XBox, like the first xbox (not xbox one), like the original xbox (not xbox original) just a straight up xbox, from like 2001, & I had the original halos 1 & 2, & I was in the middle of a halo 2 campaign when my dad threw it out. Wait... you can't detonate the pillar of autumn in halo reach... I'm asking my brother about this to confirm. Yeah no yeah they have halo reach on the screen & the autumn halo 1, halo 3, halo 4 starts on the pillar of autumn, halo 2 starts on cairo station, halo odst you're playing as a marine not master chief, idrk it's been a while since I played. Oh & my baby brother also managed to recognize the sounds of halo in Magoo's place in Castle with the old haunt & Donny. He's such a smart boy.

I've only ever seen the long side series of battlestar galactica the one with no real episodes so we sat down for 6 hours straight to wawtch it.
