There's this thing in the Ben 10 fandom that i wanna talk about that often goes ignored and its the fact that there's always conversations about "The Girls Of Ben 10" and how they deserved better... But here's the thing

All the characters of Ben 10 are underdeveloped. All of them are robbed of times to shine. Its not just Ben's old dates, who get the most attention in these conversations, it's women who exist outside of Ben completely. Its men who we see a few times but still know next to nothing about.

Look at Charmcaster. Charmcaster had a huge story line. She had soooo much going for her that was outside of Ben completely. She was the daughter of a man who fought against oppression and died, then she went into Legerdomain and took it back from said oppressor, and became its new ruler. But then?? She was a bad guy again?? Like, even outside the Michael Morningstar thing, she wanted to get her dad back and she killed all those people and even managed to kill the plumber squad, and then after uaf they completely got rid of that storyline. She has a rich backstory and so much ahead of her story wise that is so interesting!! And it was left for.. Whatever happened in omniverse..

And then there's Pierce, who was the older brother of Helen and friend to Manny, who had so much personality hyped up before we'd actually met him. He was capturing plumbers kids, then got sucked in himself, and met Max, and... Then what?? He joined Max's team with Helen and Manny, who, also, we know nothing about, and then we didn't really hear anything more about them. They went to Plumbers school. I dont even wanna talk about the Rooters arc rn, that's so far away from, like, an actual in depth character analysis to even mention. How did they grow up on Earth if they looked like that... How'd they meet Manny... That was covered?? In Omniverse?? I guess?? But whyd they stay together??

Oh my gosh Elena lets talk about Elena. Shes gotta have PTSD. Her body was taken over by nanites, she didn't even have a full sense of self by the end. She was creating these robots, then she went into the sewers, and eight or something months later shes in a gameshow for Ben's heart. What's up with that?? She has such a plot, a story line-- How'd she get her body back?

Then theres Alan. How long has Alan known he could turn into a alien. Who's his dad? Ok rooter arc stuff again but can we all agree that that retcon sucked?? What is Alan doing now? He was the same age as Ben when he first got his Omnitrix when we were introduced to him for the first time. And his last line was "i think my story is just beginning" like WHAT we were ROBBED

What's Cooper doing? Sunny? They introduce characters with so much interesting stuff going on in their lives or stories and then they never get to have a satisfying story line. Its not just the girls. Its really just background characters in general. They do a couple of things with Cash and JT too, but they never go anywhere--despite having some regular human high schooler dudes with a average redemption arc in play could be interesting in itself. And Jimmy! He's a kid detective! And he has one episode dedicated to it and then rarely shows up again!

I mean, look how many Anodite aus are on this site. Gwen isnt a love interest to anyone but Kevin-- and her, Sunny, and Verdona's experiences with being anodites have people so curious that you have countless headcanons loitering about the tag all the time. Anyway, all im saying is that various plot points are brought up and never seriously or fully explored to their full potential with both the men and women of Ben 10.

okay. s6 thoughts. you can pinpoint the part where my heart breaks right at the beginning of the season

i have to say though i was pleasantly surprised at how decent jay/naya was at like the 2/3rds way point of the season and onwards when its just them. like as you can tell i am not particularly fond of the way the writers attempt romance. but either way all i ask for is that jay/naya doesnt get any more drama. since i can never win with shipping in this series im not counting on it, but a girl can dream.

anyways i think its really kind of weird how all naya wanted this arc was some agency and then she... didnt even get to significantly contribute to ending the djinn. like man the only reason jay's wish got made was because she was dying for man pain. the irony is almost too much. but i digress

i simultaneously like and dislike jay's final wish bc i dislike that nya had to die and also that it undoes the whole season (except for jay and naya for some reason (????? like why does nobody else remember this. actually scratch that ive given up trying to understand how the djinn wishes work)) but i also like it because the way its presented feels like. i dont know. complete? rounded? its really weird. also fun fact im pretty sure i saw the final episode of this season and like none of the rest of it other than maybe the episode where the ninja go to jail. the wonders of cable tv

it is really terribly unfortunate, btw, that the only darker skinned character in the whole show is a rapist. i really dont like that i really dont like that at all.

in other news, zane continues to get nerfed by the writers by things outside his control because otherwise he'd be too powerful. they nerfed him when he took control of the team last season and they nerfed him again with the djinn wishes. i STILL dont understand how he deleted pixal. it makes no sense he just. did that (??????) and they didnt even try to explain

speaking of djinn lore that doesnt make sense to me, i still dont understand why he didnt just marry anybody on his ship and then wish them to be his girlfriend. like idk man that seems so much more simple.

i am also terribly terribly TERRIBLY disappointed we didnt get a "STOP THE WEDDING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!" like for real what is Even The Point. whyd you even bother doing this at all. the answer is so that we could get jay/naya but man its not even explained how getting married gives him all those powers. just because. the other person doesnt even have to CONSENT and it works ????? somehow ????????? actually speaking of if she doesnt have to consent. whyd we even bother going through all this at all when she gets captured way earlier. man the lore of this season is just a mess.

im not gonna lie i really dont like the fact that zane's dad made a replacement for him. not even like a different kid its literally just zane 2.0 despite the fact that both of them are sentient and, yknow. people. that would, however, be a very interesting subplot to explore re: zane's identity as a robot but unfortunately we wont be getting that bc i dont think this show likes what i like very much. also very sad that the other zane, who is still a person btw, is gonna be trapped in that lighthouse for the rest of time.

also really really funny that old lloyd looks like a garmadon clone. reminded me of something my friend who i am liveblogging my ninjago revival to said like 3 days ago

anyways watch them give lloyd a girlfriend and watch me tear my hair out as the ninjago writers continue to curse me with their attempts at romance. im also like 40% sure a time travel arc is coming up soon but maybe im remembering wrong. guess we shall Wait And See.

also unrelated but i have to say the djinn response to a wish being "your wish is yours to keep" instead of "your wish is my command" is honestly pretty epic. i do love that.

also. a . question. are we.... are we ever going to get back to the fact that jay's bio dad is (presuming hes still alive. well i guess at the point the season leaves off he is but still you get the idea) a world famous actor and dumped his son off at a junkyard despite being fabulously wealthy and then named said son as his heir without ever contacting him (????????????????) please tell me we're going back to that. please. who the heck is his bio mom. many questions no answers.

so, my wishes for the next season: no love drama please i am on my hands and knees i am begging i am pleading no more romance. give me a break dear writers please. um other than that i was talking to previously mentioned friend earlier and i was like "well im pretty sure garmadon is coming back because if theres one thing this show hates its letting go of its cast" and she said that he comes back in an extremely mediocre way and thinks i will be mad so. that. is a thing i am . well i want to see him again but im also not so sure i want to see him again with this new information. so theres that. um i want more team interactions as always. i want people hanging out and being friends. i also want bad alt outfits. im a simple lady honestly

(preface: my infinite apologies for not getting this till now my life is a disaster rn. i am GREATLY enjoying these)

the immediate turnaround.... yeahhh. i'm a filthy early seasons stan and boy does it become very clear the more seasons they get that the struggle between the writer's cool ideas and their ability to execute them is constant and ongoing (and largely losses). im pretty sure s6 had some notoriously bad crunch too and it definitely shows

kudos to them for finally getting their one-on-one dynamic down bc it can be REALLY fun when used to its full potential but the majority of the time nya gets nerfed and its the biggest loss ever. theres so much to do with your deconstruction of the damsel how dare they fuck it up so many times 😔 dangers of an ever growing cast but cmon

i can do nothing but agree with your complex feelings on the ending bc its both incredibly frustrating and incredibly fitting. the racial implications of this show only get more,, concerning. as time goes on so tragically yeah. yeah. fuckin hell lego

zane king of my heart. the cornerstone of the team my tag is loadbearing nindroid for good reason. you are constantly correct

!!! yes!!! the one thing that could have made that entire plot line (slightly) more comedic than uncomfortable. literally nothing about this season has logic that makes sense even within JUST this season its terrible its great.

i can't even comment on the echo zane stuff its just baffling to me they don't ever use it. fucking WILD thing to make canon and then never bring it up again dear god. both intriguing implications for dr. julien's.... everything and completely squandered opportunity to actually get into robot storylines again which are 80% of the reason i watched the show. eternally crossing my fingers that those rumors about the villains are true bc dear god does julien get more fucked up the more you think about him. (preboot) chuck and dr julien are the same archetype stop making connections brain. that is a negative statement they're both well meaning but fucked up. and self flagellating for the wrong reasons

oHHH yeah. the familial symbolism in this series is like a drug to me i can't get enough of it. approaching lloyd and garmadon as the same core traits just with vastly different circumstances... ninjago has fascinating implications for the nature vs nurture debate ill leave it at that

it is!!! its cool as hell.

everything about jay is fascinating to me he has as many bonkers decisions behind his existence as lloyd does only he's supposed to be The Normal Guy so it loops back around. untapped comedic potential in him being wealthy enough to subsidize their entire crimefighting lifestyle but being too traumatized to explain why. the larry butz of ninjago.

Cyberpunk: Edgerunners ended so badly that I gotta say, as a whole Id say the show was bad. The first half of the show? Awesome, colorful, action-packed, well done. The second half? Complete and utter trash.

They had this great concept, this young kid sinking in debt and a loss of a recent lpved one, causing him to get this cybernetic spine upgrade which makes him Fast. He gets pulled into a local crime group and starts running with them to make ends meet and develops this found family.

Then, and this is where it just nosedives, a plan goes south, the crew loses their leader and his girlfriend, so the kid steps up and we get this timeskip. Gone is the lovable, kinda buff but overall slim kid, and he just looks like your average "buffed up action guy except its all cybernetics and chrome". And the story pivots from him to his girlfriends lore. He, like his mentor (the ex-leader) gets too much fucking chrome, causing issues with having too much tech while still being a person.

So many issues here. 1. Whyd you change the character model he looks so boring now. 2. The reason he went metal is so he could fight better. Which is stupid because his advantage was speed. Seeing the bulked up guy going fast looks dumber than the lanky kid zipping by 3. Absolutelu 0 learning about having too much metal. Your old leader died from it, idiot. 4. The kid was introduced as actually being quite proficient in school, yet this is never applied in a literal sense, ever. He just becomes leader and has good charisma? Those things are unrelated to school smarts.

I feel like its either a product of Netflix anime demands or the studio culture surrounding action animes, but something about the past 3 Ive seen strike me as odd. The setups are inherently so cool and interesting, only to have completely lackluster endings, due in part to the narrative falling to pieces. I dont need high volume action scenes every god damn episode if their purpose is only to look cool. Give me some plot, please. Actually connect the dots of your story instead of being in the drawing room and going "hey wouldnt it be cool if this happened". Thats just bad writing.

Worse yet was this was a Studio Trigger project which means they were working on this dumb project based off a failure of a game instead Of Just Working On ANOTHER SEASON OF BRAND NEW ANIMAL!!!!

okay, update on my sims legacy challenge

-shirley's childhood : the dad is dead, but things are pretty okay. simone still visit them as a ghost since i put his urn in a special graveyard at the house. she also, kinda has another dad later on. yeah, alondra's remarried, not the ghost of l. faba or even morgyn. but her new neighbor, tanaka

-it happened during a power conservation day. shirley was busy doing her homework while alondra made potions and dranked the good luck one. she had a visit by one of her neighbors called tanaka and he gave her a death flower. i was busy with shirley for ONE second, and when i get back they were already all over each other. gotta say it was pretty hardcore how he pulls over my admittedly hardcore witch founder by the grim reaper plant. i approve, sir.

-and then, since alondra was begging for one, i gave her a vacation with shirley in tow. unfortunately it was also new years', and shirley's birthday. ohh that was awful. and the worst thing is that, since things are going well, i havent felt the need to use the needs potion. my sim passed out on a bench several times just to make that holiday happen. alondra doesnt even know shirley's friends, she just put the party in a park and invited santa claus in hopes that shirley's too excited on meeting new kids and making a wish to santa to even notice that none of her friends are there. it worked.

-after the bday party, there was also the countdown. since shirley's a teen now, they both spent it at a bar. and alondra becomes a wreck. i got the notif that she was going to die soon. and she has been having sad moods in the background since her friends have been dying. but now she's mostly uncomfortable since as an elder she cant keep up with three events at once without potions. meanwhile she only needs to get more xp so she could have the virtuoso wizard rank to finish her magic aspiration. i literally dont know what else to do. she'd done dueling, experiment, everything! so, i realized, alondra never really unleashed a spell to strangers. its always items or other wizards and occasionally her daughter so she's not filled with grime and dirt. so in that entire night, while shirley talked with the locals, alondra let go all of her restraints and reputation as the good witch and cast infernio on everyone and everything. she almost hit her girl.

-after the holiday, her mood doesnt improve. Im now focused at shirley since she's the only heir so maybe thats why. she'd gotten everything she wanted but alondra is just, sad. she stopped cleaning the house, she's crying all the time and she's not even using potions. sometimes if the ghost of her lovers came she'd kiss them and feel a little better. but alondra is just a barely functioning sim now.

-anyway, about the love interest situation. its more amicable than i thought. somehow all of them still wanted to woohoo and accept flirting dialogues even if alondra had personally dumped and toyed with all three. tanaka, faba, and simeon practicallty take turns seducing alondra

-different than the mom, shirley's fate in romance is... difficult. she had a crush with a girl who likes to use the gym as well, and she has a friend who is oh so sad all the time. her crush is fucking mean. of all people, whyd she has a crush to the only person in school with a red relationship bar with her? my goodness! that girl was a huge asshole. she literally fight someone in the halls. babygirl you have the worst taste in women. your friend danielle is there!

-but danielle is like, sad all the time. every single day i use the "console about death" or "try to cheer up" on her and it doesnt seem to do anything. the fact that their teacher died on second day (IN FRONT OF THE CLASS) doesnt make it any easier. you cant have whirlwind teenage romcom if everyone is highly aware of their loved ones' mortality! (hello covid era graduates)

-so, her options for prom is limited. everyone rejects her advances, and while danielle agreed theyre both gonna go out with the other kids as friends, danielle still create her promposal signs. fearing that shirley's gonna be ditched, she made her own and do the lame and desperate option.

-but in the end. no one gets any bitches so they all attend prom as a good party between friends. shirley sweetheart danced with danielle at first but end up sweetheart dancing with this guy who is the cheer team captain. she doesnt hang out with her crush. she has her mom's tendency of intense partying. before this prom, she went to a college party, and with a miniscule amount of sleep she go through with pre-party, party, and afterparty. and then later in the day she had to do her birthday as well. she didnt even use plentiful needs potion

-so after thats done, lets go back to alondra. her heir is ready now. and even if she's gone, she can visit her in ghost form and her new fiancee is kinda like shirley's second dad. im planning her to do a hiking trail with him btw. and she's so miserably sad all the time. maybe its time to let go. so, thats what she did. at first, she prepped the house, cleaning it and fixing some ignored objects, doing the laundry and everything. and she went to the magic realm to buy wands and look for appropriate tomes for shirley to read later. then she cooks. food for shirley and potions for her AND shirley.

It was meant to be a casual wedding where alondra just say her vows and spend the time joyfully eating and drinking, but the most miserable wedding ever. the only one who came other than her family is l faba's ghost. they dont even have cake. they end up cutting the event early after the essentials are done. and then when theyre home, tanaka doesnt even want to woohoo with her. simeon is too sad to woohoo even though he still has high romance bar with alondra. you are the most patient man ever.

-luckily, there's faba! and l. faba is the only one of her love interests who is willing to assist on her suicide by woohoo mission. they fucked. on the showers, on the bed, everywhere possible. and then right in the middle of woohooing, shirley got caught on fire. i really thought she was going to die right there on her mother's suicidal bender. she survived, luckily. and then alondra and l. faba get back on woohooing while shirley took a shower and replaced the burned furnitures. after a few consecutive successful woohoo (god this girl is fit!) alondra finally dies. god bless, my dearest founder. you were loved.

-on a side note, alondra's relationship with l. faba is wildly interesting. the first wizard she knows and the last she'll ever meet. alondra's married twice to other men but it was this woman who attend her wedding twice that spend the most time with her and finally carried alondra to her final resting place. but of course, she will be buried on the grave besides her first husband. not faba's.

Do I like them: ABSOLUTELY, he’s such an interesting character!!

5 good qualities:

1. I love seeing him figure shit out, and just his creative solutions to stuff!! I think about how he beat Death 13 by getting his stand inside Death 13’s head and everything a lot. ALSO his gaming against Telence D’Arby

2. His loyalty, just how dedicated he is to sticking with the crusaders. That moment when he decided to join them and mirrors Jotaro’s words back at him was just :’))

3. Kakyoin goes h a r d sometimes and tbh it kinda slaps ngl!! It’s such an interesting contrast between here’s this polite albeit blunt dude who’s very loyal to his friends, but also if you piss him off he will fuck you up and I think that’s very Cool of him :))

4. His bravery. God the fact he confronted Dio at all speaks volumes about Kakyoin, Kakyoin knows exactly what Dio can do and has dealt with the pain that Dio has inflicted upon him, but he still stands up to him and fights him. He’s a tough kid

5. I love his character design in general aksksks His red wavy head flop bang(?) and his epic gamer sunglasses are Great and I want to steal his earrings

3 bad qualities:

1. Sometimes Kakyoin goes too hard, like maybe feeding shit to a baby isn’t the Best thing to do?? Every time I remember that scene I gag

2. Bruh whyd they have to take him out for a good chunk of the story?? That’s not his fault but damn. It’s like well he’s in the hospital OH NOW HES BACK, and now he’s Dead. Like ok

Favorite episode/etc.: Ok BESIDES THE ENDING, the episodes with him fighting Death 13. Just I loved the horror elements of those two episodes but also like I said above, seeing Kakyoin figure shit out and how he defeated Death 13 was So Cool, like those episodes were really for him to shine in imo

OTP: Ehhhhhhh I wouldn’t call him and Jotaro an OTP but they’re fine? Him just being alone romantically is also really chill

It’s nice thinking that maybe like cultural anthropology is a special interest of his :) He just reads as autistic to me in general tbh which makes me smile

Do I like them: YES, ONE OF MY FAVORITE JOJO CHARACTERS!! He is my Favorite JoJo, he’s so good and I love him so much :’DDDDD

1. THE FACT THAT HIS STAND’S MOST UNIQUE ABILITY IS HEALING AND WHAT THAT SAYS ABOUT JOSUKE AS A PERSON!!!! ITS JUST?? Like when Jotaro says how much of a gift Josuke has in a world where people just try to crush each other or smthn is just so👌👌😭😭😭😭

2. I love how he can go from angry to goofy in like a couple seconds lmao

3. How he interacts with Koichi and Okuyasu, any episode that has a part dedicated to their friendship is always So Good

4. Maybe this sounds weird, but I like that he’s Just Some Dude in a lot of ways. Like beyond his stand, imo he’s very relatable, he’s just an easy character to connect with I think which is Neat

5. He’s Just A Good Kid Tbh, every time I see Josuke I smile, he is just Good :)

3 bad qualities:

1. Bruh, turning someone into a book is kinda hardcore (but then again Terunosuke did hurt Tomoko so y’know)

2. I remember wishing in the beginning he was more cognizant that Shigechi is just a middle school kid, like yeah he’s being a brat, he’s a child bro

No I don’t think Denkis dumb I just think he wants to help so much that he loses the ability to make good, normal, smart decisions.

What I mean is — here let’s take the other day for example when he overheard you telling kirishima you were out of energy.

He meant well really or at least that’s what you tried telling yourself while you were burning up from the inside out at the attempted electrocution that was taking place in the middle of the classroom.

Kirishima screaming at denki to let go only for him to short circuit and dumb himself out so much that you both had to wait for him to return to normal to figure out why he just attempted murder in front of the whole class

you assume that means that the star of this show has just arrived

other volunteers start running around, frazzled and worried

this one - yang hongseok - is known to be a bit of a,,,,,,,,handful

which you don’t understand

the guys just another athlete like everyone else

granted he has won an insane amount of titles in such a short amount of time

and is currently the world champion of his boxing class

(oh - you know - is well on his way to being a self-made millionaire)

you just ,,,,, don’t get it

how can you be moody and snappy when your life revolves around punching people - like get your anger out in the ring, dude.

either way, scoring such a huge star for your charity work is amazing

so you’re going to bend to his every will, even if you spend the majority of the time hating it

hongseok strolls in, followed by his manager - kino - who you spent most of your time talking to on the phone in order to set this up

you introduce yourself to him and shake his hand, he’s been nothing but nice

your worry is all but focused on hongseok

your charity is all about working with kids and helping them get into free sports programs

which means a lot of the people in attendance are innocent children

so you hope hongseok keeps it ,,,,,, together

he shakes your hand - but seems almost annoyed by it - taking the glasses he’s wearing off and chucking them toward kino

“how long is this gonna take?”

is the first thing he asks and you’re already gritting your teeth

“only half an hour, we want you to talk to the kids about how you got into boxing and then take some photo-”

“kino, did they say photo-op? i never agreed to that.”

kino looks like he’s gritting his teeth too, but he’s probably so used to the treatment that he just pats hongseok’s shoulder

“it’s only two or three photos. it’ll look so good for your publicity hong”

hongseok shrugs his hand off, but veers off toward the table where your volunteers have set up drinks

kino gives you an apologetic smile as he follows suit and you just stand there gripping the clipboard in your hands so hard you think you might break it

it’s only been 5 seconds and i already know - i hate him.

you turn you attention away from hongseok though, you’ve got to make sure the gym is prepped and the kids who’ve come out to hear hongseok speak are all here

as you pass by, you hear hongseok mutter something about how this place is subpar and hot

you wish you could tell him to shut it, he’s an athlete - a little sweat won’t hurt him

but instead you remind yourself: you need this, and the kids need this.

when you’re done and you’re ready to introduce hongseok to the eager crowd

you walk over to let him know, he has his glasses on again and when you tell him everything is ready

he barely reacts - just stands up and takes off the denim jacket he’s wearing

it’s hard not to stare - the shirt is black and tight, and he’s a boxer so his body looks like its been carved from marble

but you make a point to focus your eyes on your clipboard and not on his dumb, beautiful face

hongseok notes that you aren’t oggling like just about everyone else

as you lead him toward the gym, you have the urge to say something - to beg him not to put on that bravado hes known for when hes both out of the ring and in it

sometimes, he gets a little scary and mean, and these are kids so -

you skid to a stop and turn, hongseok raises an eyebrow and an annoyed look paints his otherwise (stupid, but godly) face

“um,,,,,,just so you know - the kids out there respect you, and they all think you’re cool so im hoping you can just,,,,,be professional?”

his mouth thins into a line

“oh, so you think im going to go out there and act like a jackass?”

“no-”

yes, that’s what im worried about genius.

“no, im just - theyre all young so-”

he doesn’t bother to let you finish, instead he walks right on past you and out into the gym

the kids roar into applause and you pale - you were supposed to go out there and introduce him!!!!

but its too late, and you swallow the horror that building up in your stomach

because you feel like you just made everything so much worse-

“hi kids, im hongseok and im here to teach you that everyone in this room can follow their dreams! i followed mine and now im a?”

he points the microphone toward the crowd as everyone cheers out the words “world champion”

hongseok laughs, a big and warm smile on his face

and you blink in surprise because

oh my god, he’s doing really well actually?!!??!

the whole event goes so smoothly that you almost dont believe its happening

hongseok not only connects with the kids and plays with them well, but the photo-op he was dreading so much - is so sweet

hongseok is letting kids hang off his bicepes, he’s picking kids up on his shoulders, he’s letting them play with his boxing gloves and even has kino bring out some merch he has signed to give out

you’re in awe - this is not the snooty, flashy dude you saw half an hour ago

and whose been splayed across online news pages since he debuted in the boxing scene

he’s just,,,,,,,,,,,,nice

but then again - you remember what kino had said:this is good publicity

it could all just be an act

one of your volunteers, tall and often lost looking yuto, taps your shoulder and asks if you can go get some supplies from the charity van you guys have out back

you agree, rushing over to get the things and as you’re piling out the boxes full of tshirts and applications packets

you hear the back door open

you’re half hidden by the car, but you immediately recognize kino’s voice and ,,,,,,, hongseoks?

“i want to sponsor all of the kids.”

“hongseok, that’s gonna be a hefty check you know?”

“doesn’t matter, but don’t put my name on it - just make sure the charity people know those kids are all going to be able to pick whatever program they want and ill pay for uniforms or baseball bats or whatever they need.”

“alright, ill go find the manager.”

you almost drop the box you’re holding - there are over fifty kids in there and he’s going to sponsor all of them?!?!?! and not for the free publicity?!?!?

you rush back inside, dropping the boxes in yuto’s hands who gives you a confused look as soon as you ask where hongseok is

he tilts his head and you turn toward the gym, through the door you see hongseok is taking a couple of more photos and waving goodbye to the kids

kino finds you, and asks if you two can talk for a moment, but you shake your head

“i need to talk to hongseok.”

standing out back in the parking lot, you thank him - embarrassed about how you had acted before

“i heard you say you wanted to sponsor all the kids, and im going to be honest i -”

“you thought i was an asshole, just the way i am when im boxing or on a late night tv show right?”

you kind of give him a - can you blame me? kind of look and hongseok laughs again

up close, its brighter and more comforting then you imagined

“being a ‘softie’ doesnt get you far in my sport - so i act out, everyones like if you have abs like that whyd you ever be humble you know?”

you try not to giggle, but hongseok says its true

“well thanks again, and i know it was rude of me to tell you to ‘act professional’ you-”

“listen, id do the same thing. plus, you are probably the first person with the balls to say it to me - you do know im a boxer right?”

you kind of fumble a little, because you dont know what to say

his tone is kinda flirty, but you’re trying not to think to much into it

kino suddenly appears, reminding hongseok of another event he has to get to

he smiles and says another goodbye to you, before you have to ask

“wait- why don’t you want people to know you donated so much to us?”

“ah, same reason. the guys arent going to let me live it down when these photos of me letting kids crawl me like a tree get out so i cant imagine what theyd say if they know i spent most of my championship money to help out these kids and not buy like....a yacht.”

he waves again and you cant believe it but you feel something in your heart twinge

that night you get a voicemail from the number you’d used when talking to kino

you assume its a message from him about the event, but you’re surprised to hear hongseok’s voice when you play it

‘aside from the fact i donated a buttload to your charity - do you wanna have dinner sometime? i actually have enough money left over for that?’

you don’t believe your ears and play it back one million or so times

in the morning you drag yuto into a corner and play it for him

“do you thin its a prank?”

yuto scratches his head, “no - i think yang hongseok is interested in you.”

Okay so I actually really enjoyed the episode and don’t mind the angst one bit. The only reason I’m was so angry is because of the thing that I said I would never mention again. Everything else was so good. I’ve read fics with worse angst than that. We all know they get married so don’t let the angst get to you too much.

I always like to end these on a positive note so let me just say Noel and Cam were phenomenal! I mean they always are but this episode was a stand out to me. I’m proud. I’ve never seen my husband this into the show before and for him to enjoy it with me? I’m shook

small rant about tenet

((therell be spoilers for the movie in this so if you want to watch that unspoiled, dont read this)) so i watched ‘Tenet’ and it was fun, i like time travel stuff in fiction and i really like how they used said time travel. it was fun to “think along” and piece things together as the movie went on. My favourite parts were honestly when the two main guys, the protag ((who apparently doesnt even have a name??? like wikipedia just describes him as “the cia agent”??? what is it with male movie protags having no name/their name being said like... never in the movie? idk ive had this happen a few times where during the movie i was like “wait, who even IS this guy?)) and Neil were doing cool shit, like breaking into the freeport. This is mostly due to John David Washington and Robert Pattinson doing their job well and they do have my gratitude for that. Apart from that i have two things that bothered me, especially after thinking about them a bit more:

1. the woman, kate (???), is like,,, tragic and bland, - her main motivation is her son, who shows up like ... twice so as the viewer theres really no emotional connection, i honestly wouldnt have been surprised if he got killed off at some point (this isnt really a complaint, its totally valid that she cares about her kid but it just adds up with the other things that they were like “okay how do we show shes a WOman with a tragic story?”) - she gets hurt/abused a lot, i get that they want to portray her husband as shitty but im really tired of ‘excessive violence against women as a defining part of said women’ in media. - so youre telling me the protag can recognize types of ammunition and successfully track a specific weapons dealer but the woman thats an art appraiser doesnt get to use her skills at all??? - her faults are that she acts emotional in stressful situations and endangers herself/the plan and then relies on the protags to save her... at the end of the day it just feels like she was written so theyd even have a female character that isnt a side character with 1-3 minor appearances. Also the typical “woman written by someone who doesnt regularly or respectfully interacts with women” and if i remember correctly this movie does not pass the bechdel test lol 2. so why did your villain have to be from the eastern bloc? - its a story about fucked up time travel stuff from the future, whyd you have to locate the fictional secret city in russia and have your villain be a stereotypical violent criminal russian man? like,,, theres plenty of countries - another thing is the part at the end where he mentions the people from the future having a good reason for wanting to anihilate the present because of climate change but its honestly just a lazy shot at “oh look, this evil character actually has a point” because at NO POINT before is it part of the guys character. youve set this guy up to be someone who takes orders from the future because it benefits him and hes okay with ending the world when he dies because hes just that selfish, just stick with that because its honestly way more realistic and believable than “i regret putting a son in this world” at the last minute when this whole time youve shown no emotional connection to said son and only used him to keep your wife obedient - i truly dont get westerners obsessions with making movies where theres a west-east conflict with the amis being the good guys. similar to westerners making n*zi movies with a western saviour perspective, its just... nothing new. (or even that accurate lol) there are so many ways you could tell interesting and new stories about ww2, the cold war or even contemporary tensions but noooo its always the same “american soldier/government agent fights rich crime man from the east, who wants to rule/destroy the world” and most of the time they dont even make the villain that cool? like damn at least give me some unhinged sexy bitch with amazing visuals

#please dont take this too seriously ' most of this is just my own thoughts going beyond what the movie shows and into personal preferences #/thoughts about media #the movie certainly isnt bad but id be lying if i said that my attraction to men and interest in sci-fi & timetravel media isnt what kept me #interested #i do think the actresses did an amazing job at portraying the women #its just that there wasnt much to portray #might have to fuck around and check if theres movie adaptions of soviet sci-fi literature #and also get on to reading said literature more #tenet #movie #long post
