last date before wedding with ptg
Tumblr media
warning(s): food and wine mentions
↳ jinho: helping him with a cover of a song for youtube and it’d be a pretty romantic song maybe ed sheeran thinking out loud or john legend or maybe something else like eyes, nose, lips and you wouldn’t realize that he got you singing. i don't think he'd post it and just want to save it for the two of you to rewatch. it wouldn’t matter to him if you were an amazing singer or not, just being able to share that moment with you would be enough for him. so, it would probably become a tradition where you'd rewatch the cover for every wedding anniversary, and maybe you would cover more songs together each time as a little segment on his youtube channel and the members would text him and tease him about it every time lol
↳ hui: i get the feeling that he would bring you to a really nice yet underrated restaurant where smooth jazz is played and people are allowed to go onstage and perform a song. both of you would have the biggest smiles on your faces because the date would be reminiscent of your first one. you'd end the date off with really good wine and of course, hui would go onstage and sing (he'd claim it as practice for your big day) and would leave the audience stunned by his amazing vocals. on the drive home, his hand would never leave yours and he'd probably fidget with your engagement ring with a huge smile on his face.
↳ hongseok: your "date" would be so sweet and domestic because hongseok just gives me homey vibes. like, you'd both go to the grocery store to get ingredients for dinner and a dessert you both like. idk it would be the cutest thing and then you'd head back home and he'd start cooking while you worked on the dessert and you'd definitely catch him staring at you every few minutes with a goofy smile on his face and he'd wiggle his eyebrows playfully. you'd step away for a second to back-hug him and hongseok would smile to himself before he'd turn around to kiss you and he'd pull away to say something really cheesy but it would still put a smile on your face.
↳ yeo one: i think changgu would plan the cutest little picnic in the park for both of you. he'd pack some of your favorite foods and snacks and would even get you flowers or something. it would be the cutest thing and he'd take a flower and put it behind your ear and you'd do the same to him and then you'd go back and forth about who's the prettiest lol then the two of you would lie down and cloud gaze. idk i can see a really adorable dog running over to the two of you and it would really like changgu and it would be such a cute moment that would lead you to discuss the possibility of adopting a dog after the wedding. once the sun would start to settle below the horizon, you'd head home and would probably spend the rest of the day watching a show or movie.
↳ shinwon: both of you would agree on going to a spa and maybe a little shopping. i could definitely see him goofing around with you while in the sauna by making weird faces and telling you funny stories. then, he'd have you rest your head on his shoulder and he'd smile to himself. then, he'd tell you about how he was so nervous to propose to you. after a few minutes he'd realize that you weren't talking only to find you asleep. so, he'd make sure that you would be comfortable and would relax too. i think he'd love to spoil his s/o so he'd really enjoy going to the spa with you and it'd be a nice break from all of the wedding prep. on the way home, you'd both decide on ordering in bc neither of you would want to cook after being at the spa.
↳ yanan: he'd wake up extra early to get your favorite breakfast foods and coffee. when he'd make it back to your apartment he'd be met with you half asleep on the couch and would quickly put everything down to cuddle with you for a few minutes and then you'd eat breakfast together. afterward, the two of you would get ready to go and yanan wouldn't tell you but it would all make sense later. so, the two of you would go to multiple places throughout the city and you were thankful that they wouldn't be too far and at each stop, you and yanan would talk about what happened at each, like, one place was where he took you for your first date and another would be where you both said you loved each other for the first time. looking back on all of the memories would make both of your hearts feel so full.
↳ yuto: i think you'd go to an aquarium or botanical garden and it would be on a day when it wouldn't be so busy and the two of you could goof around and take funny pictures of each other imitating the animals. throughout the date, you'd both feel like little kids on a field trip again. both of you would stop every few minutes to stare at something you'd find interesting and the look on your faces at that moment would be so adorable and you'd have to capture the moments. after that, you would go get something to eat and then walk back to your apartment. on the walk, you'd both reminisce about how you met, your first date, and how he proposed to you.
↳ kino: i feel like hyunggu would go all out but it would still be a pretty laid-back date idk if that makes sense but he'd sign you up for a couples' dancing class where you'd learn how to tango and it would be so romantic and fun, even if you're not much of a dancer. after that, you'd go back home to shower and then he'd take you out to a really nice restaurant for dinner. the two of you would be so impressed with your meals but the highlight of your would be getting ice cream or your favorite dessert from your favorite place but then on your way back home it'd start raining and you'd have to wait it out inside a nearby cafe with steaming cups of tea. the whole situation would be pretty funny to both of you and it'd make for a nice moment to look back on.
↳ wooseok: being the youngest, i don't think he'd plan everything out and would just go with the flow. so, i think wooseok would also enjoy a night in with you as your date, especially if it would be a rainy day. he'd go and get your favorite snacks and drinks the day before and would surprise you with everything. the two of you would spend the day watching movies, playing video games, and just enjoying the calm before your wedding day. somehow, you'd end up talking about some of your embarrassing moments early on in your relationship and neither of you would be able to stop laughing and maybe you'd each go through your camera roll and it'd be a really cute moment for both of you.

Your First Time Being Affectionate In Front Of Another Member ~ Pentagon Reaction
Jinho:
You pushed Jinho towards the door as he pressed a quick kiss to your lips on his way out. “You’ll be late,” you warned him with a grin.
His shoulders shrugged, looking up as Shinwon walked out of his room and towards the front door too, “don’t stop on my account, I’ll just pretend that I didn’t see you kissing.”
“It was one kiss,” Jinho chuckled as Shinwon passed you both by to head out.
His eyes rolled as he looked back to you both, “it’s one kiss more than any of us have ever seen you share before,” he joked, “I didn’t realise that the two of you were affectionate together.”
“And this is why we’re not affectionate around you,” Jinho quickly explained, “because I knew you guys wouldn’t be able to not tease.”
A sheepish grin formed on Shinwon’s face, “I’m just saying, you guys shouldn’t be afraid of kissing in front of us, it’s all very cute and very lovely for us to see.”
“You sound sarcastic,” you laughed back across at him, “are you going to leave this place and regret leaving your room?”
“Absolutely, every single second of it.”
Hui:
A cheer came from you as soon as you saw Hoetaek, immediately wrapping your arms around him. “Congratulations,” you smiled.
His arms moved around you too, forgetting about the boys walking behind him. “I’m so glad that you could be here,” he grinned back at you, pulling away a few moments later.
“Hey, where’s our hugs?” Yanan teased, opening his arms up for you to walk into.
Your head shook as Hoetaek tightened his arm that was around you, “Y/N’s mine,” he reminded them all, bringing you in as tight as he could to see his side as you congratulated them.
“I thought everyone got a hug because we won,” Yanan pouted, “we’ve never seen you exclusively hug Hoetaek before, or do anything.”
You quickly fell silent as you realised that you had never been affectionate with Hoetaek around the boys before. “I’m not letting Y/N hug any of you losers.”
“We’re not losers, we’re winners,” Yanan reminded him, pointing to the award that the boys had picked up at the ceremony.
“Which is why I’m the one getting hugged.”
Hongseok:
As a scoff came, the two of you looked around to see Hyunggu staring back at you. “You know you’re blocking the way around doing this.”
You went to step back, but Hongseok kept a hold of you. “You know there are many other routes you can take to the living room without having to be irritating for once.”
“But this way is the most convenient,” Hyunggu smugly retorted to him.
You went to move again, but Hongseok pulled you back. “Y/N and I aren’t moving, so you can either walk through our hug or take a different way around to head into the living room.”
“What do you see in him?” Hyunggu suddenly asked him, “the first time I see him be affectionate with you, and this is how he is.”
Your shoulders shrugged, feeling slightly stuck in the middle. “I just do as I’m told,” you laughed, feeling Hongseok tighten his grip around you quickly.
“He’s mean,” Hyunggu sighed as he reluctantly walked around your embrace, “I preferred it when you weren’t affectionate.”
“Sorry, but that side of me has gone.”
Shinwon:
The two of you both jumped back as the door opened and Changgu walked in. “Don’t mind me, I just forgot to pick up my phone.”
Your head shook as you stepped back from Shinwon, “it’s alright,” you nervously smiled, bringing your hands forward as you tried your best to bring a smile to your face.
“No need to be shy,” Changgu assured you as he walked past you, “a hug is no big deal.”
As soon as he spoke you felt your cheeks flush with Shinwon chuckling beside you. “I told you that the boys wouldn’t mind if we hugged whilst at work,” he teased, poking your hip.
“We like seeing you guys together,” Changgu also encouraged, “you know that you’re very much treated like part of the family Y/N.”
Your head nodded appreciatively in reply to him, “thank you,” you murmured as Shinwon moved his arm to wrap around you once again, “that means a lot to me.”
“You make Shinwon happy, which makes us happy,” he smiled as he opened up the studio door again, “I’ll leave you two to it.”
“We won’t be too long, I promise.”
Yeo One:
A look of confusion appeared on Changgu’s face as he pulled away from you to see Yuto staring at him. “What have I done now?”
Yuto shook his head back at Changgu as he watched you walk away, “you’ve not done anything, I just think you and Y/N are really adorable with one another, that’s all.”
“How long have you been stood there watching us?” Changgu asked, slightly concerned.
Yuto’s head shook as he realised what Changgu was thinking, “only a couple of seconds, I promise. I just didn’t want to interrupt your hug, you seemed like you needed it a bit.”
“A little,” Changgu frowned, running his hand through his hair, “Y/N gives really good hugs, they’re incredibly comforting for me.”
Yuto nodded understandingly, “you don’t have to be afraid to hug her around us you know, we’re all happy for you seeing how often you smile with her.”
“I’ll bear that in mind,” Changgu replied, “although I know one or two members who’ll find a way to joke with it.”
“Leave them to me, I’m on your side.”
Yanan:
A squeal escaped you as a pair of hands grabbed onto your shoulders as soon as Yanan kissed you. “I’m not having that, thank you.”
Your eyes looked back to see Wooseok pulling you away with a shake of his head. “What are you doing?” Yanan frowned, finding his arms suddenly feeling very empty.
“You’ve got a bedroom to be affectionate in,” Wooseok quickly reminded you both.
Your heads shook as Wooseok made sure that there was plenty of distance between you both. “It was one kiss,” Yanan tried to tell him, but Wooseok wasn’t interested at all.
“I’m keeping a close eye on you both from now on,” he warned, “we don’t want to see any kissing in this dormitory from now on.”
You looked across at Yanan who was equally as confused as you were, “you know that we can’t do that, don’t you?” Yanan asked him with a loud laugh.
“I’ll keep you both apart,” Wooseok promised, “I’ve got young eyes, and they don’t need to see you both being sweet.”
“Your young eyes won’t be young forever.”
Yuto:
A sudden gasp came from you as a hand wrapped around your arm and pulled you down a corridor. “It’s just me,” a voice spoke.
Your hands immediately hit against Yuto’s chest as you realised that it was him holding onto you. “What on earth are you planning at? You terrified me for a second there.”
“I just wanted to get you alone without the boys,” he smiled, holding onto your waist.
The smile on your face grew as Yuto began to pull you towards him, only for someone to clear their throat. “Is this what the two of you are doing, hiding so you can be affectionate alone?”
“N-no,” Yuto stuttered as you looked down the corridor to see Hongseok watching you both with his arms folded across his chest.
His head shook at the looks of fear on both of your faces, “I can’t believe you guys felt as if you had to hide in order to hug each other when around us.”
“It’s better than listening to you guys tease,” Yuto retorted, “I know exactly what you guys would be like around us.”
“We would never do such a thing.”
Kino:
Your paced picked up as Hyunggu started to follow you around the kitchen, “we’ll break something if you don’t stop this.”
Hyunggu didn’t care though as he grabbed onto you and started to tickle you, “they won’t be asleep yet, you don’t need to worry about waking any of them up.
“Oh, won’t we?” A sudden voice spoke up in the doorway to the kitchen where you were.
The two of you both stopped as you looked across to see Hoetaek stood there, “we leave you two alone for five minutes and you’re like kids running around the place causing trouble.
“it’s Y/N’s fault,” Hyunggu quickly told him, pointing across to you, “she blew bubbles at me when we were doing the washing up.”
Your eyes went wide as Hyunggu threw you under the bus, “I didn’t ask you to start chasing me around the kitchen and start tickling me too.”
“Hyunggu, sort it out,” Hoetaek scolded, taking your side straight away, “Y/N is far too innocent to do something like that.”
“You don’t know her like I do.”
Wooseok:
You both froze as the door to the dorm opened up, pulling the blanket tighter around you. “What are you two up to?”
Your eyes darted to the door as Jinho walked through the front door. “We’re not doing anything, we’re just watching a film,” Wooseok quickly explained to him.
“Is that all you’re doing?” He pushed, looking at the close distance between you both.
Your heads both nodded in response, “it just got a little chilly, so we pulled one of the blankets down,” you added, trying to assure Jinho that there was no need to panic.
“You two are cute,” he suddenly complimented though, “it’s nice to see you cuddled up, you’re always so distant from each other.”
You smiled weakly back across at him, “I just like to be respectful that this is you guys’ home, I’m a guest here, even when I’m with Wooseok.”
“Y/N,” Jinho chuckled, “this is your home when you’re with Wooseok, never worry about any of us, trust me.”
“Thanks, that really means a lot.”

If you're still doing the little prompt game maybe Hongseok or Jaeyoon and baking cookies? 🍪
“Cookie Monster”
~Pairing: Hongseok x gn!reader
~Genre: Rotten Fluff. Established relationship
~Words: 0,8K
~Warnings: mention of food, pet names, one little (and very subtle) suggestive thought- Sorry if there are any mistakes!!
a/n: Hi Anon! Thank you so much for the request! Sorry for the wait, I hope you like it. I ended up writing about Hongseok because of his love for Cookie Monster lol. Plus, I missed writing about Pentagon!!
~Foxy🦊
>Request your scenario here<
~Masterlist~
----------
Hongseok likes your cookies.
Ok, maybe 'like' was an understatement. He LOVES your cookies.
He loves them so much, that even on a strict diet, he'd ask you to bake him the most diet-like cookies you've ever seen. You weren't sure if oats and bananas mixed together counted as a cookie.
He would brag to the other members that your cookies were the best in the world, but at the same time, he wanted to gatekeep, eating all of them before the members could get a taste. This was why you called him your cookie monster.
y/n 💕- Hey cookie, could you pick up a bag of chocolate chips on your way home pls?
hong 🍪- Sure honey. I'm on my way
y/n 💕- Thanks, you're the best 🫶
----------
When Hongseok reached home, you had already put all the ingredients in a bowl and had the oven on for preheating. Coming from behind and wrapping his arms around your waist he announced "I'm home. With your choco chips"
You spun around and wrapped your arms around his neck, pecking him on the lips. "You're a lifesaver, thanks babe. Now put those muscular arms for good use and help me hand mix these, please." You both chuckled as he moved to the toilet to wash his hands.
This wasn't the first time you baked together, but for Hongseok it always felt like it was. The domestic scene of you preparing trays with a baking sheet while he hand-mixed the cookies made his heart swell. He hoped that things would stay like this in the future.
When he was done you moved to get two ice cream scoopers so you both could scoop the dough into balls. Looking at the dough it was tempting to eat a little, but Hong refrained from it, remembering about the flour and raw eggs. When one of the trays was full, you moved it to the oven, while Hong kept on scooping the rest into the other tray until the dough ended.
With all the cookies in the oven, you're able to finally give attention to your boyfriend
"How was your day handsome?" You said handing him a cup of lemonade and sitting by his side on the sofa
"It was good. Went to the gym, had a shower there, and then I went to my mom's house. She wanted help with building a new cupboard she bought. The manual was really confusing..." You let him ramble about how his day went, but couldn't help but daydream about him. He was the perfect boyfriend. Caring and sweet, he liked pets, he helped his mom a lot... He even helped elderly people! You once saw him helping the old lady from the floor above you, by carrying her groceries from her car to the elevator.
"You're not listening to me"
"I am baby" you responded quickly
"Yeah sure, what was I talking about?" he smirked
"Oh well! let me check the cookies!!"
He laughed at your antics as you sprinted to the kitchen.
----------
When the cookies were done he helped you put them over a grid to cool down. You pulled out a pretty paper box and covered the bottom with a cute paper towel.
Hong extended his hand to grab a cookie but you were faster, grabbing his wrist
"Babe, these are not for you" You said while trying to contain your smile
"What!? Are you kidding me, sweetie?" He said incredulous
"These," You began sorting them out while checking if any of them were damaged "are for Shinwon! You bragged so much about my cookies that he asked a box of them for his birthday!" You said with enthusiasm even though your boyfriend glared at you.
"Really? Shinwon? Can't believe my baby tricked me into baking cookies for Shinwon" he said sulking
"Oh come on Hong! We made them together! I bet they taste amazing with all the love we poured into it!"
"Whatever... You're lucky I love you. Tricking me like this..."
"Let me make it up to you" You said wrapping your arms around his waist, which he quickly reciprocated by wrapping his own arms around your shoulders.
"Yeah? What will you do about it?" he said smirking, which received a light smack from you
"You dirty. Let me cook for you. Dinner's on me tonight"
"Ok sweetie, I'll be expecting a full-course meal! And cookies"
"Don't worry my sweet cookie monster, It'll be the best you've ever had!"
And even though you promised to make dinner, as the sweet gentleman he is, helped you prepare the food. Indeed the best thing that ever happened to you was Hongseok.
Extra: Shinwon liked the cookies so much that he talked about them for a whole two weeks, making all the Pentagon members crave them. All of them asked you to bake them some cookies (without Hongseok knowing since he would steal them), and even Yanan made you promise to bake him some when he came back to Korea

can you make a reaction of pentagon if they gonna see their ex girlfriend after break up
a/n: Hihi! I know I said two weeks, but I've been balancing school and home life. I'm also re-reading this piece I wrote a while back and brainstorming for new things. Also, I've never written reactions before, so I hope you enjoy it. I'm sorry this is so late.
words: 2.2k >>Masterlist
Jinho
He would be the type to avoid a meet-up.
It’s not like the relationship ended badly, but it’s for convenience.
Jinho wouldn’t want to step on your feelings if there were any remaining
Honestly, for him, there was still something left over
He's delusional. Literally gaslighting himself to think he’s avoiding you for your sake.
The meet-up would be accidental like it was meant to happen.
Jinho honestly hadn’t been out of his apartment in a few weeks. He had been having second thoughts about the entire breakup. Was it the best decision? He wasn’t sure. Although, the food had run out in his house, and takeout was expensive these days.
He was walking through the isles bored when he saw a familiar figure. He didn’t see your face, but he didn’t have to. Something inside him wanted to approach you, but he didn’t. He couldn’t and he didn’t know why. He would rather die than go up to you. He stood there for minutes wondering whether to move past you or do a 180.
He ended up just staring at you, taking in this moment of seeing you again. You were looking at some snacks on the shelf when you turned your head and looked over at him. He watched as the smile spread on your face, and how you waved at him. He reciprocated it, all without much thought. The moment flew by too fast for him because, in the next second, you were gone for the next item on your grocery list.
Hui
Hui would most likely become obsessed with his work
Anything to distract himself
Maybe he’d blow money for some serotonin
Anything to give him a quick whiff of some happiness
He’s been writing songs like crazy and they're all sappy breakup songs
He doesn’t like any of them though
He needs a break and a bad
Hui needed some time out of his studio which was now too stuffy for him. Just a simple walk would do for him. For what he meant for a short walk around the building, he ended up in a park nearby. He sat on a swing slowly rocking back and forth. His eyes were closed taking in the sound around him. It was quiet, barely anyone was around. Still, the sound of the wind and the trees slowly dancing to it making their sound, The casual cars driving by in the background. That was the serenity and peace he had been looking for this whole time.
When he finally opened his eyes he noticed a familiar figure sitting at a bench. They were eating lunch alone with their head down. He didn’t have to see their face to know who it was. He smiled to himself, maybe this was the motivation and clarity he sought.
Hongseok
He’d be more of the jealous type.
He’s most likely the type to stalk a page
He made a fake account just for you!
okay, maybe that’s not that charming.
he regrets his decision though
he's sincere about that
Lately, Hongseok had been feeling like you were losing interest in him, or you were getting over this. With all that he still felt for you, he couldn’t let you. He still couldn’t let you go and needed something to drag you in with him. So, he devised a plan. He would “randomly” meet up with you.
He got used to the schedule that you had, and have, so it wasn’t that hard to find you. He had crossed your path multiple times after the break-up, but neither of you had decided to go and talk to each other. He was too shy, and you wanted to get over him. It was better for you anyway, and sometimes seeing him just hurt.
Not this time when you saw him. You two had managed to get on the same bus. Although, you knew hongseok had a car and could drive. It made you wonder what happened to him after you two separated. You locked eyes with him, and he shared a smile with you. He took that as an invitation to come closer to you on the bus. He made small talk with you for most of the ride. Something about the whole experience felt like deja vu almost as if you had met him again, but in a new life.
Shinwon
He plays it off but he’s most definitely hurting
He hangs around other people for a distraction
He is not okay though
When he’s alone or at home he mostly pouts
Dont come about his mood though because he will snap
He also won't leave the house unless he has to
The guys have to make him come out, so they take him to an inside amusement park
They may spoil him a bit too much.
It seemed like Shinwon was as good as new. He was smiling, laughing, and making his awful jokes. Honestly, Jinho and Hui kind of wished they left him at home. It seemed like this was the perfect thing to bring him back from being a literal human zombie.
They were walking around the theme park when he saw you giggling with your friends. You guys had rented school uniforms on. He was happy that you were happy though. The way you laughed or held your friend's hand. He didn’t notice how long he had been staring.
He was sent back to reality when Jinho tapped him on the shoulder. “You ready to head out already?” Shinwon looked back at him just nodding. He didn’t know if Jinho knew if he was looking at you or not. Either way, nothing was mentioned on the way home.
Changgu
He lives in a cafe.
Or he visits it a lot
Either way, he wants to run into you
First, it was the old cafe you two used to visit
Then your favorite cafe
But nothing, he couldn’t
One day he gave up and just started to work part-time at a random cafe
He was working late nights due to his day job. He was enjoying working at a cafe. He loved the smell of coffee beans after all, and wouldn’t complain if he smelled like them all day. One thing was for sure though, he brought a lot of business to the cafe.
Everyone went to the cafe to see the cute barista. He smiled with all of the new attention, but he wasn’t quite sure if he enjoyed it or not. Some part of him still hoped that one day you would walk into those doors. He convinced himself that all of the girls he turned down were for you. He was staying loyal to you.
The only problem was that he only worked at the late-night, and it was not the most favorable time for a cup of coffee.
One night while he was making one of his famous cups of coffee, he heard a familiar laugh. His head shot up, he had to see your face again. Although, he frowned as soon as he spotted you in the crowd. Your arm was locked around another guy’s laughing and leaning into him.
He frowned and turned over to his coworker, “I'm taking my 15.”
Yanan
The relationship was short
Surely not long enough for deep feelings
That's what he thought before he broke the news to you
But lately, he had been missing you
Denies it and tries to play it slick
I’m thinking this is like a college fling thing
So you guys could run into one another
Finals were coming up and Yanan was in the library with his head stuck in one of the textbooks. He had been there for hours, and he was starting to get hungry. He had a six-hour final that he was preparing for, and he could not flunk it. He searched in his bags to see if he had any snacks left over. Luckily he still had some, leaning back and eating it.
He took that time to scan his surroundings. He had been focused on his work for so long that he hadn’t noticed the amount of people that had come and gone. This time around he noticed you dozed off on a desk. Your head was lying on a textbook sleeping soundly. You looked so pretty to him. He went close to you and put your jacket over you.
He didn’t quite understand his actions or what possessed him to buy snacks for you. He smiled to himself as he wrote a note. He teased you about falling asleep in the library and how you should take better care of yourself. He didn’t sign the note, smirking. Maybe he could tease you more like this in the future.
Yuto
He is already a quiet person, so I feel like he kept the relationship very private
Barely anyone knew that the two of you had broken up
The break up wasn’t on good terms
The two of you could not agree on something
He hated arguments and everything that came with it
He also hated telling you when he disagreed with something because it would lead to even more arguments even if it didn’t have to be one
The two of you were petty anyways
He tried to avoid you, and the places you hung out frequently
Yuto was out with a large group of friends. It was unusual for him, but he was enjoying the extra company. They were at a large shopping mall, so it wasn’t an ideal place to be. He was quieter than usual. Maybe it was because he didn’t want to draw a lot of attention to himself. That was the reason. He wanted some quiet time but didn’t want to be alone. Maybe this was the best solution for him.
He thought of himself over the relationship. Maybe he was being too harsh, but he thought if he heard that you died in a week or so he wouldn’t care. Okay, that was cruel of him, but he needed some way to distance himself.
The sad part was, when he saw you at a store with another guy, his heart sank. He was mad that he still felt some type of way about it and about you. He was disappointed in himself, nonetheless, he played it off and went on with his day.
Kino
I'm going with the cliche trope
He’s just a party guy to me
And I think he’d go to parties to let off his cool. Especially if it was a harsh break-up
I feel like he’d still be jealous and possessive after the relationship
If anyone would try to say something bad about you, he would get mad at them.
He’s still sweet as ever, even if it ended on bad terms or not
Kino was at a party, like usual. He had a huge social circle. He was floating around the party talking to a lot of different people. He was feeling better tonight. He preferred to put himself out there when he didn’t feel up to it. Honestly, he was feeling a lot better.
He did notice you when you walked in, it would be hard for him not to stare. He watched over you, still feeling protective. He knew a lot of the people at the party, some of them having a bad reputation. He would rather watch over you from a distance, not ready to face you.
That didn’t matter when a random guy came up to you. He didn’t know him, but he could not stand the fact that another man was talking to you. He came up to you putting his arm over your shoulder casually.  “I forgot to ask you what drink you wanted.” Kino kept a sly smirk on his face. You looked a little upset and surprised to see him there, but he just brushed it off. It was fun to cock-block you.
Wooseok
I think he would be quieter about the breakup
He seems like he keeps more to himself
But he’s generally sweet to everyone
I think the motivation would be down
He wants to keep things on good terms, but that doesn’t mean friends.
He’s not the type to text you after
Unless he needed something
Wooseok had gathered up some motivation lately, after looking at how messy his life had been lately. He was picking his stuff up and putting things in their right places. During that, he found some items that were yours, and he noticed that some of his things had been missing. He frowned, he didn’t want to do any confronting, but he wanted his things back. There’s nothing wrong with that, right?
His hands were sweaty as he texted you. He simply stated that he had a few of your things and he thought that you had a few of his. It was simple and he tried to be as polite as possible. He was not trying to make anyone upset.
After a few days you hadn’t answered his text, so he tried again. This time his tone was a little hasty, and when you responded, it was in an aggravated tone. He was confused. You didn’t want to meet with him and made that clear. He suggested mail, but that seemed to upset you as well.
When he saw you later that week on the street, he said nothing. He did nothing. Any feelings that he had left over for you, were gone. Then he knew he could move on.

Pentagon Reaction - Having a Short S/O
❧ Anon asked: Ptg reaction to having a short and/or chubby S/O? 👉🏻👈🏻 (your writing gives me life btw! It's so good!)
❧ A/N: I’ve been in a ptg mood recently
~※ Main Masterlist ※~
Tumblr media
Jinho
Tumblr media
The short king Jinho himself definitely doesn’t mind that you’re short. If you’re shorter than him, it actually gives him a bit of an ego boost. He likes having you shorter than him since it makes him feel like your protector.
Hui
Tumblr media
Hui may be on the shorter side himself but he’s gonna tease you a bit for being short. He actually likes that you’re short. It makes it so he can really wrap himself around you when you cuddle.
Hongseok
Tumblr media
Oh man. Hongseok is such a little tease. He teases and pokes fun at your height all the time. If you get bothered by it, he will stop. He thinks you’re so cute -- especially when you get angry and try to be all intimidating.
Shinwon
Tumblr media
Shinwon doesn’t mind that you’re short. He actually likes being able to drape his long limbs around you and fully envelope you. He might poke fun here and there but he doesn’t make it a regular thing.
Yeo One
Tumblr media
Aww Changgu thinks you’re just the cutest thing. He thinks you’re cute regardless of your height but it just adds to your cuteness. Oh, he might just combust when you have to get on your tippy toes to kiss him.
Yanan
Tumblr media
Yanan doesn’t really think much about your height. To him, it doesn’t matter what his s/o’s height is. He loves you regardless. He does sometimes put stuff on the top shelf just to mess with you.
Yuto
Tumblr media
Yuto is a sweet but teasing man. He’ll put things on the top shelf just so you have to come ask him for help. He does like that ego boost. He doesn’t verbally tease you much though.
Kino
Tumblr media
Kino thinks you’re cute all the time; your height is just a bonus to that. He likes to play around a bit but he never really teases you. He loves being able to wrap his whole body right around your smaller one.
Wooseok
Tumblr media
Wooseok is that guy that uses your head like an arm rest. He also calls you shorty and other short pun nicknames. He’s just a menace. He does do it out of love though.

Pentagon as Pentagon Songs / Covers
(... that I associate them with, purely self-opinion)
Jinho
hmmm "Someday - Song By JINHO, HUI"?
i feel like Jinho really slayed the vocals on that one you know
if it's not "Someday" then it would probably be "Round 2 - Bonus Track" because #jinhoWWEcommentator era
"Spring Snow"!!!!!! SPRING SNOW.
spring snow.
i loved how excited he was at wanting to perform "Spring Snow" for Road to Kingdom
and also the feels
Hui
would it be basic if i said "Shine"??? not if it's the truth ...
"Shine"
because come on, we all know why it's "Shine", what are you talking about if it's not "Shine"???
maybe "Happiness" because i felt like Hui in that M/V was pretty memorable
but also his line in "Organic song" (E'dawn, Yuto, Woo Seok With Hui), both in the original when Dawn performed it by himself in Pentagon Maker and also the released track
"Basquiat"?? VOCAL KING.
Hongseok
honestly the first thing that comes to mind is "Very Good - PENTAGON Version" (originally by Block B) from RTK
the chocolate abs left an impression
and also the "it's okay as long as he doesn't dance inappropriately afterwards" - an RTK staff member
"Dr. Bebe"
the chocolate back left an impression
"Sparkling Night" because his Oppa-ness really popped off there, ESPECIALLY in this Special Live Clip, wow that video really took me to heaven and back you know, i ascended
Shinwon
if i'm going for associated images seared into my brain, i would pick "DO or NOT" because #jokershinwon era and also "Feelin' Like" even though i know he doesn't like it because POOL SHINWON??? shinwon with GLOVES??? ma lord almighty,,,
if i'm going for music music, it would be "Daisy" because he does my favourite line in that entire song ("haengbokhaeya dwae") in that whisper/breathy tone, sorry i'm just simping at this point
but by that logic, i would also associate him with "Naughty Boy" because of the chicken lyric ... it really stuck
if i don't put "One Shot" here, am i really a Shinwon fan?
so "One Shot" because he wrote it
Yeo One
"Pretty Pretty", definitely
high school Yeo One.
nerd Yeo One era.
mushroom Yeo One era.
Yeo One with GLASSES.
also "Eat" (originally by Zion.T) because :( Pentagon Maker :( Yan An :( comfort chocolate :( ("saranghae ... yO")
Yeo One's verse in "Round 1 - Bonus Track", specifically the part where he goes "nappeun saram ... Yanan, Yanan, Yanan"
Yanan
"Feelin' Like"
muscles.
absolute massive badonkerhonker muscles.
but also "Daisy" because i really like the way he dances in it, feels floaty and nice
also "Eat", for the same reasons as Yeo One
also "Round 1", specifically the part where he goes "(ya geuraedo bang gachi sseuneunde) HWAJANGSHI!!!"
Yuto
probably an unpopular opinion but "Shine" is one of them
his rap and the transition back to the group formation in their "Shine" stages left a sensation in my brain that i don't know how to explain
that one unique #notlikeothergirls "Yuto-da" in "Fantasystic"
those verses of Japanese rap in "Cerberus"? chef's kiss.
that low-toned Wooseok!mock-scream in "Round 2"
Kino
first of all, "Dr. Bebe", for less superficial reasons than Hongseok
like i really, and i mean REALLY love his entire persona in "Dr. Bebe"
from the stages to M/V, the facial expression and stature and makeup were EVERYTHING
in chinese, there's this thing we call 病态 (bìng tài), which directly translates to "state of being sickly" and it sounds kind of wack if you put it like that, but basically the way he embodied that psychological inner warfare in his dance and expressions was absolutely Oscar-worthy
"Daisy" because of his tattoo, and his florist dreams, and his dance, and that mafia dance variety thing they did
just. "Daisy". yeah.
Wooseok
i don't know if it's because of his unique rapping tone, but i associate him with a lot of Pentagon's songs
i mean he wrote and composed my absolute favourite Pentagon song, "BAD"
he also did "Nostalgia", which i like
his verse in "Sparkling Night"??? vocal Wooseok???
"Naughty Boy"??????????
okay that one because i hated his hair in it, i'm sorry Wooseok
but also i felt like he was so intrinsically linked with that song for some reason
it just screamed Wooseok to me
uhm
"The Magic Flute ("Der Hölle Rache" - Queen of the Night aria)"
oops
i'm sorry that was just for the crack i swear

seungcheol ; make or break
➔ synopsis: You barely remember the last time you celebrated Valentine’s Day with someone other than your moms. In fact, if it wasn’t for your students’ excited countdown, you’re sure that you would’ve ignored the romantic atmosphere just like every other year. But as they like to remind you, you can’t forget this time—you have someone to celebrate with, after all. (kindergarten teacher!au).
➔ warnings: a passed relative, cemetery mention || genre(s): fluff, romance, slice of life ➔ 3574 words || scenario || kindergartenteacher!au
➔ notes: i always have strong starts and then lose steam by the middle, and it's so obvious 😭 regardless, i hope you like this one. highly suggest reading kindergarten teacher!seungcheol part 1 and part 2 (2021) first. side note, i use kindercare for this au because it's a mash-up between kindergarten and daycare. i guess nursery school!au would be a better name because apparently kindercare is an american company. this is dedicated to that anon who talked about seungcheol meeting y/n's parents like two years ago, though i can't find the reply anymore.
There’s a palpable excitement in the room as you unstick the velcro name tags and shift everyone forward one space. The Monday morning ritual is arguably their favorite part of class, perhaps second only to recess, and you’re sure it must’ve been yours, too, at some point in your childhood. Once the last name is smoothed into place, you turn to the class.
“Alright, so Haeni is this week’s line leader, Jumin is our caboose, Hongseok is our supply manager…” You rattle off the names of the light inspector, messenger, door holder, trash collector, and librarian as quickly as you can. You learned long ago that if you stop and wait for them to cheer for every person, this five-minute routine would quickly eat up ten minutes of morning meeting time. Time you don’t have, unless you want to cut into nap time and it’s an unspoken rule to never cut into nap time. “And lastly, our reader of the day!”
“Me! It’s me!” Juhyun screeches, launching out of her seat to grab the pointing stick.
It’s the only time your Walking feet rule is allowed to be forgotten, but once she gets to the front, she shifts her stance, suddenly shy under the class’s attention. You lead her through the morning message, board full of sight words that she stumbles over, and then you pull out the calendar poster. February, it reads across the top, printed with hearts and Cupids in case anyone forgot which commercial holiday rules over the month.
“Today is…Monday, February 13,” Juhyun recites nervously, tapping each part with the stick. “Yesterday was Sunday, February 12. Tomorrow is Wednesday—”
“No, tomorrow is Tuesday!” Someone from the back row pipes up and gasps as if surprised at himself for yelling out.
“I was going to say that! Tomorrow is Tuesday, February 14. And it’s our Valentine’s Day party!”
You laugh as the children cheer. “Yes, yes,” you say, a finger to your lips until they settle down. You take back the stick and outline a giant circle around the number 14. “So you all keep reminding me. If you forget what to bring tomorrow, take a look at the sign-up sheet before you leave today.”
An arm pops up from another corner of the room. “Teacher Y/N, I have a question!” She waves, just barely sitting on the ground.
“Yes, Haeni, I see your quiet hand. What’s your question?”
“Are you and Teacher Seungcheol going on a date tomorrow?”
The class oohs and squeals at Haeni’s brave question, hiding giggles behind their hands, and you bite back an affectionate smile. They’ve always been invested in your love life, but ever since that joint birthday party, the twins have crowned themselves the catalyst that got their beloved teachers together and take every opportunity to remind their friends.
“We haven’t talked about it yet,” you admit. “If we need any brilliant ideas, I’ll ask all of you, but enough cupid talk for now—our new librarian needs to come up and choose a book for today’s reading.”
. . .
Seungcheol’s rug is comfier than yours, you realize as you stare at his ceiling. He has more beanbag chairs, too. You stretch out a foot and tap one of them. No wonder Haeni always stares enviously whenever her sister walks into this classroom.
A shadow blocks the overhead fluorescent light, and you squint to see his face. “You know there’s dirt and germs all over the ground,” he says, amused. “I vacuumed right before you came, but it’s still gross.”
“S’ok, it’ll build up my immune system. I get sick more often than the students, and half of them eat snacks on the playground with dirt on their fingers. Maybe they’re onto something.”
He laughs, walking past you to pin his students’ drawings on the wall. He’s using the succulent- and flower-themed thumbtacks you got him the other day. The best dollar store find yet. You’re waiting to see if they’ll release other designs. “Should I get you a dirt pudding cup with actual dirt tomorrow, then?”
And there’s the topic of the day. You roll onto your stomach, propping your chin on steepled hands as you watch his side profile. He’s wearing glasses again today, thin frames balanced low on his nose. They’re one of your favorite pairs, and you remind him of it every time. Maybe that’s why you see it so often.
“What are we doing tomorrow?” Somehow the words Valentine’s Day feel foreign in your mouth, so you swallow them back. “I would’ve forgotten to ask you if Haeni didn’t mention it today.”
“So did Haemin. Must’ve been a coordinated effort.” He pauses, putting up a few more drawings before responding, voice soft, “We don’t have to do anything special if that’s not your style. It’s only been a month, after all; I don’t want to pressure you into anything you’re uncomfortable with.”
He looks over and sends you a smile that’s equal parts sincere and nervous, waiting for your reaction. When you smile back, he returns to his work.
“It’s not like it’s not my style.”
“M-hm?”
“It’s just been a long time since I actually celebrated Valentine’s Day with a date. I usually just get dinner with my mom.”
“Oh, if that’s your tradition, then don’t worry about it. We can hang out another time, and you don’t have to get me anything. I’d still like to bring you a present, though. Is that okay?”
You trace the dotted lines on his street-themed rug, your finger running between a few trucks and cars. Like he said, it’s only been a month since the twins’ birthday—and when he asked you out after school—but something about Seungcheol makes you feel like he’d treat your heart like glass. It’s in the way he hands you a warm drink every morning as you wait for morning recess to end. The way he taps your shoulder in the hallway to flip the tag back into your top, leaving with a brief squeeze of your hand. The way he rearranges your classroom after you had a long day of sick kids and cranky attitudes, quietly and without complaint. The way he looks at you now, again, waiting for your confirmation like your opinion matters to him more than anything else.
And maybe it does.
“Actually, are you free tomorrow evening?” you blurt out.
“I think so, why?”
“Do you…actually want to come spend time with me and my mom? I want to celebrate with you, but I can’t bail on her. You don’t have to say yes; I just thought it’d be a nice opportunity to introduce you and all.”
He tries to tamper down his response, but you’re struck by how child-like he is. Like your students this morning, his excitement thrums beneath his skin, and he bounces on the balls of his feet as he nods a touch too enthusiastically. His I’d love to is a breath of air that rushes into and fills your lungs.
You push to your feet and grab your keys. “I’ll go warm up the car. You can lock up and come out when you’re ready.”
. . .
Before Seungcheol, it was you and your mom against the world—or so you liked to say, huddled up next to each other as you waited for the car to fight the February chill and heat up. For the last few years, the tradition has shifted. What started as a visit to the cemetery became a visit and lunch between your classes. Then a visit and dinner once you found a job. Then a visit and spending all day together once you lost that job. This year, with the nursery school position taking up your mornings and early afternoons, you and your mom settled back into a visit and dinner. With a new guest, it seems.
“Are you sure he’s alright with that? He could be saying it to just be nice. Why don’t you two kids spend time together, hm? I can go on my own.” Her voice crackles over your car’s speakers.
“No,” you say, elbowing the just-entered Seungcheol to be quiet. He grins at you with clasped hands, a silent apology. You’re tempted to make him wait outside until you’re done with the conversation. “He’d like to be there, and I want him there, too, to be honest. Do you mind?”
"Of course I don't! The more, the merrier. I was going to call up our favorite place tonight to make reservations, but we can just get take-out and have a nice dinner at home. I can finally show off my new dinner plates to someone." There's a sudden shuffling on her end. "Oh God, wait, why did you tell me now? I don't know if I have anything nice to wear! Okay, bye, I have to go looking. Love you, see you tomorrow."
You laugh. "Okay, mom, bye."
The car beeps once she hangs up, and Seungcheol finally releases the satisfied hum that he's been holding in his chest.
"You two sound close."
"We are."
"How long have you been spending Valentine's together?"
"Buckle up, passenger princess. Then I'll answer your questions."
He does as told while you pull out of the parking space and lot. The school is in a nice neighborhood, but it seems like the trade-off is having curved streets that make you feel like a rat in a maze.
"We've been doing this for as early as I can remember. Some years, Mom and Mama went for dinner alone, and I had a babysitter for a few hours, but for Mama, Valentine's Day wasn't that special. She loved my mom every day of the year, so eventually they started taking me out to dinner with them. It's a day of love, after all, and they loved me a lot."
Once you turn onto the main road, Seungcheol lays his hand palm-up on his knee and you reach across the console to thread your fingers with his. It's just a straight path from here to the exit you both take, and you settle into your seat, glad that school ends just before the afternoon traffic gets bad.
"And then Mama passed away while I was in high school. She was on her way to order some flowers for Valentine's Day—she liked to get her order in early to avoid the last minute rush." You laugh. "You can see who I take after. We didn't celebrate that year, obviously. It was way too soon. We picked it up again the year after, though, just me and Mom. We'd visit Mama and then spend time together."
He squeezes your fingers, and you squeeze back.
"Are you sure you're comfortable with me coming?"
"Yes, of course. That's why I asked."
You glance over at him. The glasses are away now, now longer blocking the long lashes that brush against his cheeks with every blink. His lips are set in a slight frown, his brows bunched in thought. Your boyfriend—the word still feels new to you—is unfairly handsome in his blue jeans and cable-knit sweater.
You take your hand back to change lanes. "Penny for your thoughts?"
He looks at you, and the lines fade away. His soft expression is even softer in the afternoon sun.
"Nothing much. I'm just thinking about what to bring for your mom tomorrow. Does she like certain flowers? Have a chocolate preference? Should I bring a dessert to share after dinner? I can steal Mingyu’s secret cookie recipe." He takes a deep breath, wiping his palms on his lap. "I mean, for you, I'll just scoop some dirt from the yard before coming to work—”
You snort, shoving his shoulder. "Shut up, I'll toss it right back out the window."
"—but for your moms, I want to make a good impression, y'know? Should I wear a suit? Would your mama be impressed?"
You press your lips together to avoid looking like a lovestruck fool on the highway. Some of your friends had wanted to test him, make sure that he's good enough for you, but as soon as you'd introduced him to the group, their eyes snapped to you. I've never seen someone more head over heels, they complained after your hang out. God, when is it my turn? But really, if they'd looked a little closer at your expression that evening, they would've caught you looking back at Seungcheol, just as enamored.
"I'm sure they'll appreciate the effort," you say. “Regardless of what you do. The fact that you’re coming at all means a lot.”
By the time you pull into his driveway and wave to Mingyu taking out the trash, he's already memorized basic facts about your mom and promised to not screw up tomorrow.
"You'll be fine," you assure Seungcheol as he comes around to your side of the car.
He leans through the open window to press a kiss to your cheek. "I hope so. Don't want to scare them so early in our relationship. I’ll see you in the morning?”
As he disappears into the door Mingyu left unlocked, you hope he doesn't feel like a nervous wreck.
. . .
Seungcheol feels like a nervous wreck.
He knows that he's bothering Joshua, who's only trying to make tonight's dinner, but in his defense, he's sitting on the kitchen counter and fairly out of the way, so he's not that much of a distraction—other than the part where he’s having a dramatic meltdown.
"You're blowing this way out of proportion," Joshua says, sleeves rolled up to his elbows to pat the chicken dry. One pot chicken stew again. It’s his third time making it since finding the easy recipe, but it’s good, so Seungcheol can’t complain. "It's not a big deal."
"It's not a big deal? Josh, I'm literally spending Valentine's Day with them and their mom. Their moms, really. They trust me enough to meet their mama, too. Isn't this huge?"
"Okay, yeah, it is pretty huge," Joshua admits with a shrug. "I was trying to convince you that it wasn't so you'd calm down, but you're literally meeting their family a month in. Congrats, man."
"Thanks, but I need more than congrats." Seungcheol leans to the side as Joshua reaches around him for a knife. "I need…I don't know, a vision. A step-by-step, fool-proof plan to make sure I don't make myself look like an idiot at their mom's dining table. Or anywhere in the house, really. I need a miracle. What if they decide to break up with me?"
He groans into his hands. Joshua continues cutting carrots into uniform slices. Does he not sense the distress?
"They're not going to break up with you."
"You don't know that.”
"I'm going to kick you out of the kitchen and make you talk to Soonyoung."
"He's going to get nervous for me and make it worse," Seungcheol whines, and Joshua rolls his eyes. "I made the mistake of talking to him last time I was about to meet my partner's family."
"You also made the mistake of bringing him as a plus one to their get together," Joshua points out.
"In my defense, he enlisted Jeonghan to convince me, and Jeonghan's really good at talking."
Joshua tsks. "And watching the world burn while he stands next to a gas can and lighter. You should know that by now." He finally puts the knife down and turns to Seungcheol with his arms crossed. "Okay, fine. What's the schedule tomorrow?"
"Right after school ends, we're going to hit the road and take a break halfway. It's like an hour-long drive to the cemetery? Not bad, so we’ll pick up some flowers on the way. I'm meeting their mom and mama there, and then we're going to their mom's house for dinner."
“Not even a buffer activity, huh? What about bringing a board game or cards?”
“That’s a good idea. Y/N said they used to watch movies together, so we might do that, too.”
Wait.
“We have a day off on Wednesday. You don’t think we’ll stay the night, right?” Because one evening he can deal with—he can look put together for a few hours—but his morning self? His bedhead alone could scare off the weak-hearted. What’s the protocol for that, anyway? Would he share a room with you, or would it be more appropriate to take the couch? Why didn’t he think to ask you all this before?
Joshua claps him on the shoulder. “Focus, man. It’s definitely possible, so I’d say prepare a bag and keep it in your car just in case. You’re over-thinking it right now, but based on how you described the phone call, their mom is probably nervous, too. She was looking for a good outfit, right?”
Seungcheol takes a deep breath. That’s true, your mom seemed just as frantic to impress, though her panic was cut short by the phone call.
“And in the midst of this, I bet Y/N’s even more nervous than both of you combined. If this meeting goes to flames, they’ll have to clean up the aftermath on both sides. They wouldn’t have taken the risk if they didn’t think it was worth it, so trust them and help them make it work.”
That’s true, too. His friends are good at this sort of thing, and he’s glad that it didn’t take too much arm twisting to get valuable advice.
“Whew. Alright, I think I got this. Thanks, Josh, I should get—”
The hand on his shoulder tightens, pinning him on the counter. Joshua’s smile barely conceals the hint of mischief. “Where are you heading? You have to pay the price and help me now. Get chopping, lover boy.”
. . .
You offered to drive since Seungcheol picked you up and took you to work, but he gently refused. You thought that he was being chivalrous, but he admitted that he was just trying to push down his anxiety by keeping his hands and mind busy.
“I don’t know how far I’ll spiral if given the chance,” he told you as he claimed the driver’s seat, and you did your best to play the role of the chatty passenger. Before you know it, he’s pulling into the cemetery and the nerves set in again.
You lean forward and point at a small navy car with faded stickers that you’d recognize anywhere. “That’s Mom’s. We can park right behind her.”
Parallel parking is the easy part—getting out of the actual car is harder. You manage a tense breath of a laugh at his tight grip on the steering wheel, though seeing your mom in the distance is making your heart constrict, too. Why are you getting nervous all of a sudden?
“You look good,” you insist, pinching his cheek. And he does, even after you managed to talk him out of the full suit. Warm and cozy—your mom gets to see him the way you do. “You’ll be fine. You’re both looking forward to meeting and impressing each other, so if it’s any comfort, she’ll be too busy worrying about her own actions to judge you for anything.”
He turns his head and kisses your hand. “Are you trying to convince me or yourself right now?” he teases, but from his lopsided smile, you know he’s as ready as he’ll ever be.
You grin. “Choi Seungcheol, you’re a charming guy. Be yourself.”
He insists on holding the two bouquets, yet another thing to keep his hands occupied, though they shake in his grip as you get closer. One of them is for your mom. She takes them with a pleased gasp. The other he carefully tucks into the vase beside your mama’s name, and when he straightens, you step to his side.
“Mom, this is Seungcheol, the guy I’m seeing. We work together.”
“Hi, I’m Y/N’s mom,” she says, holding out a hand for him to shake. He takes it in both of his own. “You can just call me mom, though—oh my, unless that’s too forward of me? Is it too soon?”
She glances at you, eyes wide in the same What do I do? panic that you saw on Seungcheol’s features earlier. You laugh. Yeah, things will be just fine.

When He Forgets Your Birthday ~ Pentagon Reaction
Jinho:
You could see the smile on Jinho’s face dropping as soon as he watched you walk in from work with several present bags from your colleagues in your hand.
“Oh,” Jinho whispered, with the penny dropping straight away as he read the print that was on the bags, scratching nervously over the top of his head, “Y/N, I don’t even know what to say.”
“It’s fine,” you replied, although your voice let you know that it was far from fine for you.
You placed the bags down, hearing Jinho stand up from the sofa. “I’ve bee so busy with work that I completely forgot what day it was today, time’s just ran away.”
“I don’t need to hear any excuses Jinho,” you told him, turning around to face him. “Luckily the guys at the office gave me a great day at work to celebrate my birthday.”
“There’s still a couple of hours left in the day today.”
Your head shook as Jinho tried to dig himself out of the hole he’d dug himself. “I’m not interested, my birthday has been and gone now I’m home.”
“I promise that I’ll make this up to you,” Jinho called out to you.
“You’ve got a lot of making up to do.”
Hui:
Your head shook as you arrived home to see decorations up around your apartment, with a pile of presents stacked up on the coffee table from Hoetaek.
“Happy birthday,” he weakly smiled as you walked in, watching as you took in Hoetaek’s attempts to make up for the fact that he had missed your birthday that morning. “What do you reckon?”
“How long did it take you to put this together?” You quizzed, knowing how last minute it was.
Hoetaek walked slowly into the room as you sat down in front of your presents. “Not too long, I did actually have your presents bought a few weeks ago.”
“You just somehow managed to forget the actual day of my birthday then?” You asked as you picked the first of the gifts up whilst Hoetaek sat down too.
“I didn’t forget, it just slipped my mind.”
Your eyes rolled as Hoetaek tried to put a positive spin on things. “You can put it how you want, but this doesn’t mean that I’ll just forget.”
“I wouldn’t expect you to either,” Hoetaek assured you.
“It does make my day a little better though.”
Hongseok:
A loud shriek came from you as you walked into your apartment to several people cheering, looking around to see the place completely packed out.
“What do you reckon?” Hongseok asked as he walked over to you in between the crowd, throwing his arm around your shoulders to pull you in.
“When did you plan all of this?” You asked in reply, shaking your head in disbelief.
A chuckle came from Hongseok at the expression on your face, “it’s been planned for a few weeks but I dont know how I managed to keep it quiet.”
“I thought you’d forgotten,” you whispered, having spent all day with Hongseok with not a single mention of your birthday, despite the hints you dropped.
“I would never, ever, forget your birthday.”
Your hand hit gently against Hongseok’s chest, “I can’t believe you pranked me, I was ready to come home and ignore you tonight.”
“You can’t sleep, you’ve got a party to attend,” Hongseok teased.
“This could be the best birthday ever.”
Shinwon:
Your smile was wide as Jinho and Yuto both walked towards you, handing two cards across to you as soon as you walked into the studio behind Shinwon.
“Happy birthday,” Yuto grinned as you tore open the card that he gave you, flickering your eyes across to look at Shinwon who was stood just beside you.
“Yeah, happy birthday,” Hongseok added, almost as if he was driving the knife in.
You could see the realisation in Shinwon’s face, watching his hand scratch over the top of his head. “Are you alright?” Wooseok asked him, noticing his face.
“Y-yeah,” Shinwon stuttered, although as he looked to you, he was far from fine. “I completely forgot,” he whispered so that none of the others could hear.
“I already figured that one out this morning.”
A sigh came from Shinwon, “I don’t even know what to say right now, even the guys remembered and somehow I forgot Y/N.”
“I don’t know what to say either,” you admitted with a shrug.
“I’ll fix this, I promise.”
Yeo One:
A sigh came from you as you noticed Changgu hovering around as you packed up your bag ready to head out to work and try and make the most of your day.
“When will you be home?” Changgu asked, his voice quiet as he tried to get a response from you without upsetting you even more than he already had done.
“I don’t know, I think I might see a few of the others at work,” you calmly replied.
Changgu’s head nodded, not surprised by the fact that you would probably be home late. “Have you got plans with some of your colleagues to celebrate?”
“Yeah, at least they remembered,” you told him, unable to stop yourself from getting a dig in, “at least I’ve got something to do to celebrate, right?”
“Your friends are always so good to you Y/N.”
You quickly nodded in agreement with Changgu, “it’s nice that they remember things about me, things that maybe a boyfriend should.”
“I probably deserved that, didn’t I?” Changgu shrugged back to you.
“Yeah, I think you probably did.”
Yan An:
Your head shook as you arrived home, you knew exactly what Yan An would have been up to during the day, and what you saw definitely didn’t disappoint.
“Happy birthday,” he laughed as he saw that you had arrived home, hoping to see a smile form on your face too, only to be left by a look of disappointment and sadness.
“Do you think all of this makes up for the fact that you forgot?” You honestly asked him.
Yan An’s head shook as he realised that he was still in a bit of a hole with you. “I’m trying here Y/N, surely you can at least try and appreciate that much from me.”
“I know,” you sighed, taking a good look around the room, “maybe it’s me, maybe the thought is just lingering in the back of my mind looking at this.”
“Can you try and forget? Just for today at least.”
Your head nodded slowly back at him, “I’d like to at least try and enjoy the rest of my birthday and maybe talk about this tomorrow.”
“I’ve put a lot of effort into this,” Yan An tried to get you to see.
“I can tell, it looks good.”
Yuto:
As your phone buzzed yet again, Yuto’s eyes stared across at you, almost irritated that your breakfast was being interrupted again by notifications.
“What on earth has been going on with you this morning?” Yuto quizzed, resting his head into his hand. “Have you got some problem at the office that is making your phone pop?”
“Not quite, I’m just replying to a few friends and family,” you subtly explained to Yuto.
His brows knitted together as he still struggled to figure out what was going on with you. “Why are they all messaging you at seven in the morning?” He added.
“Really?” You asked him, almost in disbelief. “Sorry to get in the way Yuto, I’m just replying to the people who have remembered that it’s your birthday.”
“Your birthday? Of course, I know that’s today.”
Your head shook straight away at how panicked Yuto sounded. “Don’t even try and pretend, you’ve forgotten my birthday, haven’t you?”
“Y/N, I’m sorry,” Yuto hastily told you in an attempt to lessen the damage.
“I can’t even believe you right now.”
Kino:
The day was as usual for Hyunggu as he arrived at work, taking a seat with the rest of the boys as they began to prepare for another day of rehearsals.
“Did you spoil Y/N this morning?” Hongseok asked as Hyunggu sat down beside him, “I did send her a text this morning to wish her a happy birthday, but she's not replied to me yet."
“Happy birthday?” Hyunggu asked him in surprise, looking around at the other members.
Hongseok nodded, as did several of the other boys too. “I haven’t got the wrong day, have I? Y/B/N is Y/N’s birthday, isn’t it?” Hongseok quizzed, looking around too.
“Yeah, it’s definitely Y/N’s birthday today,” Changgu agreed, watching the expression on Hyunggu’s face drop the more the realisation began to sink in for him.
“Have you forgotten Y/N’s birthday Hyunggu?”
His eyes looked around in panic, “I really need your help,” he asked of the other members, trying his best not to get too flustered.
“How could you ever forget Y/N’s birthday?” Yuto asked him in surprise.
“I don’t know how this has happened.”
Wooseok:
You hung back from Wooseok as he began to walk upstairs to bed, with you following behind, making sure that there was some distance between you.
“I’m sorry again,” Wooseok told you once he reached the top of the stairs, turning around to watch you walk up the final couple, keeping your eyes looking down away from Wooseok.
“I get it,” you replied, stepping to your left as you began to head to the spare bedroom.
Wooseok knew it was coming, but it didn’t stop him from feeling guilty still. “Are you sure that you don’t want to sleep in our bedroom? The spare room isn’t great Y/N.”
“I just want to sleep alone,” you replied, carrying on walking to the left. “I might as well just to finish off what’s been the worst possible birthday that I could have had.”
“I told you that I’d try and fix this Y/N, and I will.”
Your eyes finally looked across at Wooseok, “you can try and fix this, but that doesn’t change the fact that you ultimately forgot my birthday.”
“I’m sorry it’s been so bad,” Wooseok told you as you opened the door.
“Bad doesn’t even come close I’m afraid.”

It’s weird for me to watch the reactions on my timeline, even adults are reacting like it’s a surprise and they need time to "process"… huh, okay… I mean, were people still hoping for an exemption at this point? I still had a bit of hope at the end of last year but since then it was quite clear that they couldn’t count on it. I’m actually quite happy right now that everything is settled and they have a clear plan. And them coming back in 2025 is a scenario I wasn’t even hoping for, it really is the best we could get in my opinion. I understand the younger fans being sad but when it comes to adults, I find it quite concerning to react the way some do. As much as I love the members and especially Jimin and Jungkook, my life does not revolve around them, I find it a bit sad to see that for so many people it seems like the band is most important thing in their lives :/
Hello Anon. Your Ask is from October 2022, but I think in light of certain things it might be interesting to answer it now.
Was it a bit jarring to see BTS fans unable to cope with the reality of military service? Yes, because I think most of us who got into K-pop after already being into K-media/culture weren't expecting an exemption. I also understand it must be surreal for some people who don't live in countries with mandatory service, or those who don't know others who have done mandatory service. Both Pakistan and Israel have mandatory service, so it's not necessarily out of the ordinary for some of us (and especially for those who pay attention to K-media).
I do think the idea of the exemption is something the fans will stay bitter about for a long time (forever?) judging by tweets and other posts I keep seeing. Not having an exemption is a hit to the whole brand image of exceptionalism/not K-pop. Only the plebeian K-pop stars have to go for service, not the venerable BTS. That ... will always be offensive to me, as a BTS fan and a K-pop fan.
Now that it's happening (Jin has enlisted), the usual crud has started and will continue forever more. I don't like people using service as a "gotcha" and making cruel comments while someone is serving their country. Yes, BTS fans do this about everyone else who serves, but that doesn't mean other fans need to return the favor. Like, have some decency. Jin looks healthy and quite good in the photos that were released, so can't we all respect him for doing his duty, regardless of opinions on the political war machine or selfish fan war egotism? I'm definitely a pacifist, but my being a pacifist does nothing for people who live in countries with mandatory service.
The other thing is that with the news of Hongseok's (Pentagon) medical discharge, I really hope that everyone can reflect on their behavior, and that does include SHINee fans. I didn't see it myself, but I saw shawols chastizing others for their reactions (gotta love shawol behavior standards, lol). Mental health isn't a competition, nor is military service on the whole. Not being able to complete your service as intended, whether that be full discharge or changing the type of service, would be incredibly difficult for the person involved. Shame, guilt, embarrassment, humiliation - enlisting would have been hard enough; not finishing as intended is not what anyone would want. Let's keep positive thoughts for all involved.

fall with hongseok
Tumblr media
warning: food mentions
going jogging with him with on cool mornings and he’s want to wrap you up in so many layers. so, you’d have to convince him that you’re warm enough bc the second that he’d seen that you were even the slightest bit cold, he’d rush both of you home so he could wrap you up in a pile of blankets
he’d make sure that his steps would be slow enough for you to keep up with him but after a few minutes he’d decide that a nice walk would be better bc he wouldn’t want you to overwork yourself bc he’s a sweetheart
whether or not the morning walks/jogs became part of a routine, that would mean hongseok would do all that he could to make sure you don’t get sick but sometimes it just happens
and when you’d end up sick, he’d do everything he could to take care of you and would make homemade soups and your favorites to make you feel a little better. when it’d work he’d have the proudest smile of on his face and would probably forget that you’re sick for a second and would kiss you
then you’d have to take care of him when he’d get sick and he’d be a little clingy and dramatic but it’s not like you’d be able to resist his pouts
i feel like hongseok would very much be into baking so he’d try to bake so many fall inspired sweets and he’d always make sure to get you to taste test them. even if every one wasn’t perfect (but close enough), you’d still enjoy them and you’d both offer the rest of ptg the extras
little weekend drives around the city to see all of the pretty leaves and maybe you’d stop a café to get coffee/tea and snacks
staying inside on the rainy days and the the two of you would drink something warm while talking about any and everything and that would lead to you watching a series that you’d both wanted to watch but never had the time to
also, just lazing in your shared bed whenever it’d get a little too cold out. hongseok would make sure you’d be warm enough and would have an arm and wrapped around you while your face would be flush against his chest. he’d place soft kisses here and there and would gently rub your back
cooking together 99% of the time and somehow one of you would always get a little distracted by the other. especially when you’d be in the middle of stirring the food and he’d sneak up behind you to place the softest of kisses at the nape of your neck and would whisper how much he loves you
ending almost every night with a nice, warm drink in front of the fireplace. the moment would only be serious for a second before he’d say something that would have both of you giggling like little kids
fall with hongseok would be warm and safe. it would be like drinking your favorite warm drink at the end of the day. the warmth would help you relax and make your shoulders feel a little lighter

hi, do you think you could make an alternate poly!pentagon smut where y/n is actually obedient and gets rewarded? if you dont want to, its fine, no pressure :) also i love your writing💞
Hello, thank you ♥ I wasn't too sure which scenario you were referring to but I'm going to do the Hyung Line for you.
Tumblr media
It's very long and ofc very sexual. Fluff at the beginning though ♥
Since the younger members informed the elder members of your behavior last time, they decided to have a date day with you. You sat in Hongseok's lap as your other 3 boyfriends played games at the arcade. He fed you fries as you two talked. "Princess, you don't want to play any games?" Hongseok asked and rubbed the thumb of his clean hand on your cheek. "Can we play ski-ball?" You asked. He nodded and you both went to the game. As you rolled the ball, you kept missing and getting the lower points. Seok got behind you and started helping you with your throwing motions. His natural scent smelled so great to you that you got distracted. "Y/n, you gotta pay attention baby." He chuckled and kissed your neck. Slowly you opened your eyes and proceeded to take in his advice. The more the two of you practiced, you felt him press against you and his hard-on rub against your thigh. "Daddy, your rubbing against me. I can't focus." You whine quietly. "I'm sorry love. Let's go find the others and see what they're doing." You bit your lip and nodded. His hand locked in yours as you went over to a video game section to find Jinho and Shinwon. "What're yall playing?" Hongseok asked and sat you on his lap again next to Jinho. "Mario Kart" The eldest mumbles. "And I'm winning." Shinwon boasts making you and Hongseok giggle. Once Shiwon won the game he handed the controller to Hongseok and you switched over to the younger's lap. As the boys started playing, you adjusted on Shinwon to get comfy. He pulled you closer and kissed your forehead. When the boys were in the middle of the round, Hui found the 4 of you and squeezed between Jinho and Shinwon. Since Jinho lost, he passed the controller to Hui and switched spots with him. Shinwon decided to get up to get a snack. The moments with Seok replayed in your head and began to have an effect on you. Your bottom lip was now pulled between your teeth as you daydreamed of the things he'd do to you. Jinho pulled you from your daydream by squeezing your thigh. You tapped his shoulder and the oldest member turned around. "Babe, I-I'm feeling needy." You whispered and began rubbing your legs against each other. Shinwon had returned with the snacks by now. Jinho smiled and leaned in to kiss you. You returned his kiss, now biting his bottom lip, initiating your make-out. Before it got too deep, he broke it and whispered to you, "Once this round is over, we'll take you back home." You nodded and crossed your legs for the time being. Shinwon pulled you back onto his lap and the two of you ate the snacks together. When the round was over, Jinho suggested going home to solve your problem and everyone agreed. The moment you all got home Shinwon carried you inside and laid you on the bed. "So precious." He mumbled against your lips before completing the kiss. Your arms wrapped around his neck and he pulled you closer to the edge of the bed. As Shinwon broke the kiss, Hui came over to the two of you and sat on your left side. "Jinho told us that you actually spoke up about your little issue, good job princess. For speaking up, we're gonna reward you and if you're still good during the rewards, you get to choose what you want to do with us." This got you excited and you nodded to his words. A smirk began on his face before leaning down to kiss you now. You reached up your hand to stroke his face as 2 new pairs of hands stroked your thighs. Kisses were now being placed all over your torso, legs, and pelvis. A hand of Hui's and a hand of Hongseok's were on each of your boobs, twisting and pulling on the nubs. Your legs began shutting until 2 heads stopped them. "Keep them open babe," Jinho mumbled against your thigh. Doing as told, you now deepened the kiss with Hui. Hongseok's lips were now wrapped around the same nipple he was just teasing, showing a clear effect on you. The leader bit your lip before breaking the kiss for a moment. Shinwons fingers teased your entrance and the eldest rubbed slow tantalizing circles on your clit. "She's so wet." The tallest of the 4 mentioned, pulling his fingers away from
you, showing the arousal collecting. Seok now lightly bit on the nub before pulling away to see. Hwitaek bit his lip and came back down to kiss you while teasing you with his words. "We barely even touched you and you're so wet." Shinwon's fingers slowly pushed inside of you causing you to moan in the kiss. "You like us giving you the attention?" Hui asked lightly grazing his hand up your neck and tilting your head up with a finger. "Yes sir." You answered looking into his eyes. A tongue now flicked on your clit in place of Jinho's fingers. This made it slightly harder to keep your legs open, but you held them. Hui groaned quietly before joining Hongseok in pleasuring your boobs. There was a slight ripple in your breathing. Shinwon's fingers now sped up and he joined Jinho in eating you out. You bit your lip and moaned. "Go ahead and let your moans go baby." Hongseok encouraged. After his approval, your moans got louder as they kept going with their ministrations. Once the youngest of the three's fingers found your g-spot, you spoke. "I'm gonna c-cum." Either one of the men between your legs hair fell victim to your harsh grip as you delayed your orgasm. "Let go babe." The leader says. Your body began trembling in pleasure as you let go of your release. The boys sat up to let you take your time, their hands still roaming your body. "Wow, our baby girl is so good tonight." Hongseok smiles. "Only good for us, huh love?" Jinho asked squeezing your calf. You nodded and turned back to Hongseok. "Can I have a kiss please?" The sound of your voice wasn't that strong but he still heard you and nodded. His lips touched yours and your hand grazed his neck. He chuckled and broke the kiss before asking, "You figure out how you want us?" "Mhmm, I want Hui first and Jinho next and I want you and Shinwon in my mouth." Everyone agreed to this setup and then you were flipped onto all 4s. The younger 2 sat before you and the older 2 behind you. To make things easier for you, they already shed off their clothes. You licked your lips and began teasing them both, rubbing them with each hand and going back and forth, licking and sucking on their bases and tips. Honestly, it made you feel so good having even temporary control of the situation and their reactions. It turned you on knowing you were the one pleasing them. As you began to take more of Shinwon in your mouth, Hui began teasing your clit with his tip. A groan slips from you and vibrates around Shinwon. "You ready baby?" The leader questions, sliding his tip to your entrance. You nodded and proceeded to pleasure your 2 boyfriends ahead of you. Slowly Hui pushes into you, letting you adjust to his size. Once you get adjusted, he begins slamming into you. The moans you elicited were music to the boy's ears. Hongseok's hand rested on the base of your head. "You guys did a great job at prepping her." Hui begins and smacks your butt. "She feels sooo fucking good." He nearly growls. Hongseok and Shinwon broke their kiss for the younger to answer. "Yeah, she's so tight. She had to take 2 tongues to loosen her up a bit." "She tastes good too." Jinho commented and licked his lips, reminiscing the taste. Hwitaek's eyebrow twitched in curiosity. Jinho reached his finger under you to rub on your clit and catch some of your juices. "Wanna taste?" The older member asked looking at your shared boyfriend who was fucking you, in the eyes. The younger of the 2 submits a bit to his hyung and nods needily. The smirk on Jinho's face grew and he brought his fingers to Hui's lips and Hui licked, then sucked on them. His pace on you increased as Jinho removed his fingers and kissed him. The grip Seok had on you tightened a bit. "You close love?" Shinwon asked him. Hongseok nodded and Shinwon told you to focus more on the slightly older member. Now you gave Hongseok your 100% attention and sooner than you thought, he came down your throat. You swallowed then turned your attention to the other male before you. Shinwon was quick to refill your mouth and slowly thrust to last a bit longer. Hui's hips stuttered
as he slammed into you, every thrust hitting your g-spot. "Baby I'm about to cum." He informs you, squeezing and smacking your butt again. Your hips pushed back against his as you chased your own high. "Don't cum yet. I want to feel your orgasm around me." Jinho whispers to you. Hui couldn't hold himself back any longer and released inside of you. He pulled out after a few more thrusts. "That's my good babies." Jinho praises you and Hwitaek. Hui's eyes lit up hearing that and he went in for another kiss from Jinho. After the quick peck, it was Jinho's turn to press into you. The grip you had on Shinwon's thighs tightened. Both men took it slow with you, building up your sensitivity. You could feel both men fill you from each end and could barely take it. Jinho gave you lots of praise and told you how good you made him feel. All of these factors helped you reach your orgasm. "Oh babe, It must've been too much for you." Shinwon says, stroking your hair. "I'm gonna cum. You close yet Shinwon?" Jinho moaned out, increasing his pace. "Oh yeah, Don't swallow baby. Hongseok wants another kiss," You moaned at the dirty thought of kissing Hongseok and sharing. Jinho's hips stopped moving and he came deep inside of you, continuing your string of moaning. This caused Shinwon to release as well. Hongseok bit his lip in anticipation. As you and Seok made out, Jinho pulled out of you and Hui saw this as his time to please his elder member and the youngest. Hongseok and you proceeded making out as he sat you on his dick deciding to cockwarm with you. Suddenly Hui's phone went off. Shinwon picked up and started chuckling. He then put it on speaker and it was the younger boys complaining in how they weren't invited. "Come upstairs, nobody said we were done yet." Jinho smirked and this made your ears perk. Maybe tonight was gonna get a little bit better.

the right reasons
yang hongseok x gender neutral! reader
recent college grads nonsense idk || 5.9k
** there is some drinking in this (they are of age, after all), but no swearing uwu**
finally, a fic not inspired by a taylor swift song, shocking, I know (I listened to cruel summer on a loop while I was writing this though, I think y’all will see why)
summary: when your best friend, hongseok, decides to audition for bachelor in paradise after graduation, you don’t want to believe it ….. mainly because you’re in love with him, even if you haven’t realized it yet
“Do you think I should apply?”
You look up. The two of you are watching The Bachelor in his apartment. Hongseok’s the only other person you know who’s into it. Once you found out, you immediately agreed to watch it together. Ordering takeout and making fun of the contestants has been your tradition ever since you met 4 years ago.
“I’m confused,” you say. You were checking your phone during the commercials.
“Bachelor in Paradise,” Hongseok replies, gesturing to the TV. “They’re casting for next season, there was an ad.”
“That came out of nowhere.” He doesn’t look phased.
“We’ve graduated now,” he says. “I don’t know what else to do with my life.”
“You have a point,” you reply. It’s been one month since all of you finished university. Lots of your other friends had jobs lined up beforehand, but you and Hongseok still have no idea what you’re doing.
“Right?” He grins. “I could go on, I’d have something to do, then I’d come back and I’d have a bunch of new Instagram followers and I could do sponsorships or something.”
“You realize that sounds crazy, right?” You grab a french fry from the box on the coffee table.
“It’s not!” You roll your eyes. “Think about it y/n, I’m smart, funny, attractive, nice-”
“Wrong, wrong, wrong, and wrong, but okay.” He laughs.
“I’m exactly what they’re looking for on these shows.”
“But you want to go on for the wrong reasons.”
“Shhhh,” he tells you. “Nobody needs to know that.”
“What’s your story then?” You ask.
“I grew up seeing my parents being so in love,” you make a gagging noise, but he keeps going. “And now, I want that kind of love for myself. The apps are just no good, and I need to find a special someone to spend the rest of my life with.”
“Jesus christ,” you mutter. “You didn’t mention anything about your personal journey to find love.”
“Oh right,” he says. “Now that I’m finished university, my main focus is to settle down, get married, have kids, and I’m on my personal journey to find all of that.”
“Amazing,” you fake clap for him. “You’re a shoo-in.”
“There’s no harm in applying, right?” He shrugs. “I doubt it’ll lead anywhere, but it could be fun.”
“I guess so,” you admit. “Your chances are slim, but you never know.”
“What do you mean?” He says, offended. “Have you seen me in a swimsuit?”
“Shut up.” You throw your napkin at him, but you’re laughing.
Hongseok offers to grab you another drink, so you tell him yes. He doesn’t mention anything else about the show for the rest of the night. By the time you’ve gone home, it’s completely slipped your mind.
===
When Hongseok invites you over 2 weeks later, you assume he just wants to hang out and have dinner. You’re shocked when he sits you down on the couch and says he has news to share.
“You’re dating someone.” He shakes his head. “Someone died.”
“No,” he tells you, laughing. “I love how those are your first two guesses though.”
“What is it?”
“I got a call yesterday from the Bachelor in Paradise producers...”
“You’re joking.” You didn’t expect that to go anywhere. You just assumed Hongseok would send in his audition tape and never hear back. The possibility of him actually being on the show makes you feel uneasy. “Really?”
“Yes, y/n, really.” He sits down on the armchair, facing you. “They want to meet me in person next week.”
“Oh my god,” you say. “Congratulations.”
“You don’t sound that happy,” he smirks. “Are you jealous?” You shake your head right away.
“I’m just surprised.”
“You didn’t think they’d want me?” He asks quietly.
“No, of course not,” you reassure him. “You’re kind, and funny, and attractive, why wouldn’t they want you?”
“Exactly,” he grins at you.
“So are you gonna go?” He nods.
“Why not? The worst they could do is say no.”
“That’s so exciting,” you tell him. He seems very happy about it, and the last thing you want to do is bring him down. As his best friend, you should definitely be supportive.
“Will you come with me?”
“What?” You glance at him.
“Downtown, for my interview,” he clarifies. “I have to take the train down and meet them there, I don’t really want to go alone.”
“Are you nervous?”
“A little bit,” he admits. “I’d just feel better if I had someone with me.”
“What about Changgu?” Hongseok shakes his head. “Shinwon?”
“You’re my first choice.” That catches you off guard. “We can make a day of it,” he suggests. “We can go to that bakery you wanted to try on Queen, and we can go shopping, get dinner, it’ll be fun.”
“Sure,” you say. Going on adventures with Hongseok is always a good time. “How long will your interview be?”
“They didn’t say,” he replies. “I just know it’s at 10 on Wednesday.”
“Cool,” you pull out your phone so you can put it in your calendar. “So if it goes horribly, I can cheer you up, and if it goes well, we can celebrate.”
“Sounds good.” He smiles at you. “Thanks y/n.”
You nod but there’s a small part of you that’s anxious. You decide to ignore your feelings for the time being. Your day with Hongseok is going to be great, you should focus on that and enjoy your time together.

Hongseok meets you outside the train station the morning of his interview. The first thing you notice is how nicely he’s dressed. As he gets closer to you, you notice he smells really great too.
“I should’ve dressed up some more,” you mutter, glancing down at your own outfit. You’re dressed like you’re going to class, while Hongseok’s dressed for a first date.
“You look fine, don’t worry.” He heads towards the entrance, so you follow close behind.
You were right to have Hongseok come early, as the train is at the platform the second you get there. He follows you to the back of the car, and sits down facing you.
He hasn’t seen you in person since he asked you to join him on this trip. Apparently he went on a shopping trip with Changgu yesterday. That’s when he got his current outfit.
“No wonder this cardigan is so nice, you couldn’t have picked out anything like that yourself.” Hongseok rolls his eyes at you, but he’s smiling.
The train leaves soon after. Hongseok watches out the window like a little kid. He keeps his eyes on the station until it’s all the way out of sight. And you keep your eyes on him until he catches you looking.
“Are you nervous?” You ask him. He shakes his head, but you notice his leg bouncing up and down.
“It’s just like a first date, right?”
“Exactly,” you reassure him. “And you’re great at those.”
“Are you sure?” He asks. “You’ve never been on one with me.” You don’t know how to respond to that. You almost want to tell him to take you on one. But you’re just friends, you remind yourself, you can’t do that.
“You’ve dated more people than I have,” you point out. “You’ll be fine.”
“I hope you’re right.”
The two of you sit in silence for a little while. Hongseok goes on his phone, so you focus on yours. You brought your AirPods so you can listen to music or watch a show while Hongseok’s busy with the producers.
“y/n-” You look up. Hongseok looks like he’s about to ask you something, but he hesitates.
“What’s up?” He shakes his head.
“What’s the plan for the rest of the day?” He asks you. You know that’s not what he was planning on saying, but you go with it.
“While you’re busy, I’ll get us breakfast,” you tell him. “There’s a café across the street, let me show you.” You sit down next to him so you can show him your phone. When he leans over to get a look at the screen, you’re suddenly aware of how close he is. You push it out of your mind.
By the time you’ve planned out your day, you’ve arrived at the train station. The two of you grab all your things and leave the train. Once you’re out of the station, the interview location isn’t too far away. There’s still 20 minutes before Hongseok’s meant to be there. He’s adamant about getting there early though. Although he won’t outright say it, you can tell he’s nervous. No wonder he brought you instead of one of his other friends; they wouldn’t let him live this down.
Once you get there, there’s a line of all the other candidates running through the main hallway. You and Hongseok join the end of the line.
“You don’t have to stay,” he tells you. You shake your head.
“It’s fine,” you say. There’s a check-in desk a few metres ahead of you. “I’ll stay until you get past there.”
“Okay,” he replies. “Thanks.” You bump your shoulder against his.
He’s brought his application package with him, so you ask to look it over while the two of you wait. There’s tons of pictures of him, some of them shirtless, which you quickly flip through. Then there’s copies of all of Hongseok’s identification. At the very back, there’s the printed copy of his application. You move that to the front, flipping through to make sure he didn’t leave anything blank.
He never asked you to look over his online application before he handed it in, so you’re interested to see what he had to say. There are the stereotypical questions about his career, education, background, and all of that. But there are also some more personal questions further down.
Why do you want to be on this show? Are you prepared to get engaged at the end of the season?
Hongseok’s answer is cookie cutter perfect. He knows he’s the prime candidate for this kind of show. Kind, good-looking, easy to fall for. He’s played to all his strengths in his application. You know he’s lying about being prepared to propose at the end of the show, but everyone does that. His answer comes off as genuine though.
The line moves up a little bit while you flip to the next page. It’s all about his dating history. You’re shocked at how invasive these questions are. Then again, if it’s for reality TV, it has to be.
The first section asks for a detailed dating history from the past 5 years. You’re familiar with all of that. He’s never told you about any ex-girlfriends, or anyone he’s currently interested in. He’s a casual dater, and you’ve never seen him tied down for too long. The maximum amount of dates hes been on with one person is 3. You haven’t seen anyone get past that point. He seems to get bored easily. You’re honestly surprised he’s been friends with you for this long.
Despite all of his casual dating history, he’s made it clear he’s ready to settle down now. You thought he was just making this up to get on the show, but the more you read, the less you’re sure. Maybe he’s just persuasive.
The line moves a little bit more. Now there are just 3 other people ahead of you. Hongseok’s on his phone again. You figure you have enough time to skim the rest of his answers.
Have you ever been in love? is the next question. You know the answer is no, so you’re surprised when there’s a couple paragraphs written underneath it.
I have, but I was never brave enough to act on it. You try to read the entire section as quickly as you possibly can, but your brain doesn’t work that well. You grab some words here and there, years, class, close friends but not enough to fully comprehend.
“C’mon y/n,” Hongseok says to you. “We’re next.” He holds his hand out for the folder.
You glance down at the page you’re on. Although you want to read the rest, you also realize you’ve stumbled upon something incredibly personal. Granted, Hongseok may wind up sharing this on national television, but for now, it’s none of your business.
“Here,” you close it and hand it to him.
“Thanks.”
Hongseok gets checked in soon after that. It takes about 5 minutes for them to verify his identity and double check his application. Finally, they direct him to a room down the hall where he’ll meet some of the producers. They tell you you can’t go beyond this point.
“Good luck,” you say to Hongseok, not sure what else to say. He smiles.
“Thanks y/n.”
Some of his hair is falling in his face, so you reach out to quickly brush it out of the way. When you pull away, he’s looking at you with an expression you’ve never seen before. It feels surprisingly intimate.
“Text me when you’re done,” you tell him, pulling yourself out of your thoughts. “You’ll be great.”
He nods, and the two of you go your separate ways. You know you’ll see him again in an hour, but it still feels weird to say bye to him like this. You hope nothing changes if he does wind up on this stupid show.
You walk out the doors onto the sidewalk again, thankful for the fresh air. You pull your AirPods out of your bag, so you can listen to some music. As you walk along the street, you can’t help but think of Hongseok and what he might be saying to the producers in there.
You tell yourself you’re curious just because you’re best friends. But you can’t get that look on his face out of your mind. You have no idea what it means. You’re just really close friends, right?
You turn the music up, hoping to distract yourself. It works until you pass a small playground. You can’t help but think of Hongseok yet again.
The two of you met during your university’s orientation week, but it wasn’t until halfway during the semester that you actually spoke to him. You knew you were taking some classes together, but you never really thought about it until then.
Speaking in class was something that always terrified you, but one of your professors was adamant that everyone do it in order to get full marks. It took a while for you to work up the courage to raise your hand that day in October. When you were called on, you hesitated for a second, before sharing your answer. You don’t even remember the question anymore, you just remember your professor outright laughing at you. You’d been so sure you were right, but your professor made it very clear that you were not. Right away, you threw all your things into your backpack and ran out of the lecture hall. Your heart was beating so fast and you had no idea where to go. You wound up outside, walking as far as your legs could possibly take you, until you found a park off campus. As soon as you sat down on the swings, you couldn’t help but cry.
It was one thing to get an answer wrong, but to have your professor react like that was humiliating. You were never going back to that class ever again. You’d drop the course, or only show up on test days, whatever it took to never see that godforsaken man ever again. You were so lost in your thoughts that you didn’t even notice when someone sat down on the swing next to you.
After that day, you and Hongseok quickly became friends. You still can’t believe he was kind enough to follow you out of class like that, but he always tells you it was nothing. As you think back to it now, you can’t help but feel a rush of affection for him. Maybe he is more than a friend to you.
You head to the playground and sit on the swings alone, thinking back to some of your other memories with Hongseok. He’s always been there for you to lean on, and you’ve always done the same for him, like today. You remember feeling this way when he’d specifically asked you to come with him. At this point, you’re about 90% sure you have feelings for him. You don’t know how you didn’t clue in earlier.
You stay there until your phone buzzes. Hongseok’s done sooner than you expected. He says he’ll meet you at the café where you wanted to get breakfast. You respond, saying you’ll see him there soon.
You didn’t walk that far, so it only takes about 5 minutes of speed walking to get back there. When you spot him waiting outside on his phone, you can’t help but smile.
The two of you head inside, while you tell him what you got up to. You say you found a park bench and wound up doing some work there. He rolls his eyes and tells you you should’ve found something more entertaining to do.
After you’ve got your food and sat down, you ask him about the interview.
“It was okay,” he says, taking a sip of his coffee. “I think they liked me.”
“What do you mean think?”
“It seems like they believed me when I told them how passionate I am about my journey for love.” You smirk at that.
“Are you sure you weren’t speaking from the heart?”
“Of course I was y/n,” he says, jokingly. “How dare you insinuate I’m applying for the wrong reasons.”
You’re still unsure if he’s joking or not. After your earlier revelation, you’re praying he is.
He tells you some more about the interview and the producers. Apparently they asked even more invasive questions about his dating history, like his body count. That makes you cringe.
“If they offer you a spot,” you ask, “which I’m not saying they will, but if they do, would you take it?” You expect him to say yes right away, but he ponders it for a second.
“I don’t know,” he replies. “What do you think I should do?”
You want to tell him to say no, and to stay at home. Preferably so you can spend more time with him, and then maybe he’ll realize he’s into you as well. But you can’t say that, of course.
“I think it could benefit you,” you tell him, honestly. “But it’ll also change your life in multiple different ways, and that’s something you’d really have to think about.”
“What do you mean?”
“Well,” you hesitate, taking a sip of your drink. “Assuming you wound up in a relationship by the end of the season, the odds of it working out aren’t that high,” he laughs at that, but doesn’t disagree. “Anyone you date after that will always see you as that guy who was on Bachelor in Paradise. You’ll probably have a wider range of people to choose from, but a lot of them will be fake too, so, it’s up to you.” You shrug.
“All valid points,” he replies.
“I don’t know if you’re ever planning on settling down,” you admit. “But if you do, it’ll affect that and whoever you wind up with.”
“I would like to settle down someday,” he says quietly. You glance across the booth at him. “What?”
“I’ve never really thought about you in a long term relationship. It doesn’t seem like your type of thing.”
“It could be,” he tells you, “with the right person.”
You just nod, afraid you might say something stupid if you open your mouth.
Once you’re finished eating, the two of you head out to the closest subway station. You have a list of stores you want to visit, and Hongseok happily follows along. He helps you pick out some gifts for your friend’s upcoming birthday and some clothes. He winds up buying some things for himself as well. You joke that he’ll have to buy an entirely new wardrobe if he winds up on national television. He promises to take you swimsuit shopping with him if that happens. That makes you roll your eyes, but you’re blushing the whole time.
You stop for lunch at a random fast food chain, then head to that bakery you told him about the week before. The two of you get some extra goodies for your roommates as well.
Finally, it’s almost 7 o’clock and you decide to go to a decent sit down restaurant for dinner. Earlier you told Hongseok you were in the mood to drink tonight, so he promised to take care of you. He lets you pick where to go, so you choose a restaurant with a rooftop bar. You know he likes to take nice photos for his Instagram feed.
The food is good, and the drinks are even better. You only have a few, but you can feel them getting to you. Hongseok’s extremely entertained by you. Normally you’re not this talkative, but you’re asking more questions and telling him more random things than usual.
You wind up telling him the truth about how you wound up at the park this morning. He’s surprised you lied, but you refuse to tell him why. Instead he just smiles and tells you it’s cute you thought of him. You wind up blushing profusely, hoping he doesn’t notice. The two of you reminisce over some other memories from early on in your friendship. You’re surprised he remembers them as well as you do. Maybe that means something.
When you’re finished eating, you stay a little longer. Hongseok has 2 drinks as well, but he can handle his liquor much better than you. It seems to have no effect on him at all. By the time you leave, it’s almost 9:30.
The second you step out of the restaurant, you’re met with a crowd of people. As you awkwardly navigate yourself around them, you’re separated from Hongseok. Once you’re free, you glance around, afraid you might have to call him. Thankfully, he’s waving at you from a couple metres ahead. You run over to him and immediately interlock your arms.
“C’mon,” he says, pulling you in the direction of the train station. You could have taken the subway back, but Hongseok suggested you walk instead, as it’s not too far. It’s dark out now, but it looks nice with all the street lamps lit up.
“I forgot to ask something about Bachelor in Paradise,” you say as the two of you head down the sidewalk. “Did they mention when they’ll get back to you?”
“In two weeks or so.”
“Will they let you know if you get rejected?” Hongseok smirks at that.
“Do you want me to get rejected?” You know he’s joking, but you can’t bring yourself to smile.
“Yes.” You mumble, mostly to yourself. Hongseok must not hear you.
“I was scared earlier,” he says. “But it might be fun. It’s a free vacation, technically.”
“Yeah, for the cost of your sanity.” That makes him laugh too. You rest your head against his arm.
“Do you think I could actually find someone worthwhile on there?” He asks quietly. “I know the premise is to date multiple people, but maybe I could find something real.”
“Hongseok-” You almost want to punch him. You wish you could yell at him, here on the sidewalk, and tell him off for not realizing there’s been something real right in front of him for the past 4 years, but you can’t bring yourself to do it. “Please.”
“I know, it sounds ridiculous, but you never know.” You two turn the corner and wind up right in front of the train station’s main entrance. “Crazier things have happened.”
You don’t know if it’s because you’re tired, or slightly drunk, or what, but you pull your arm out of his and turn to face him.
“Hongseok-” He glances into your eyes. This time, he notices something serious is happening.
“y/n, what is it?”
“Please don’t go,” you say quietly. He takes a step closer so he can hear you better. “Just… don’t do it.”
“I mean, I haven’t made up my mind yet,” he says, awkwardly. “But I thought you wanted me to do what’s best for me.” You shake your head.
“I was wrong,” you tell him. “I can’t do it.”
“You can’t do what?” You freeze. You wish you hadn’t used that choice of words, but at this point, there’s no turning back now.
“I can’t stay here and watch you on TV, dating other people, kissing other people, being with other people.” You’re not dumb, you know what the fantasy suites on that show are for, and imagining Hongseok in one of them with somebody else makes you simultaneously want to cry and throw up.
“I don’t understand.” You groan. You were hoping that would’ve been enough to get your point across, but of course, your best friend isn’t that smart.
“I’m going to be so jealous.” You hate yourself for even saying it, but it’s true. Hongseok reaches out, taking your hands in his. “My heart can’t handle it.”
“y/n,” he says. “You’ll always be my best friend, regardless of what happens-”
You pull your hands away from his. You don’t understand how he’s not getting it at this point. Granted, you’re not thinking clearly because of the alcohol, but he should be able to read between the lines.
“That’s not what I meant,” you tell him. “I don’t just want to be your best friend.”
“What?” It seems like it’s starting to click now. But just to be sure, you decide to outright say it.
“I’m in love with you.” It comes out louder than you intended, but the second you say it, you know it’s true. Even though the realization only, truly, hit you today, you’ve never been more sure of anything in your life. Your heart is beating a million miles a minute, but it doesn’t matter. “Hongseok, I love you.”
“You do?” He asks quietly. You nod, too scared to say anything else. “I don’t know what to say.”
You wait, not sure what to say either. Both of you just stand there, awkwardly staring at each other for a few seconds. Panic starts to set in at that point, maybe you shouldn’t have said anything.
“y/n-” You can tell from the tone of his voice that he’s going to turn you down. You really shouldn’t have said anything at all.
“It’s okay.” You cut him off right away. You don’t want to hear him outright rejecting you, not now. “It’s okay.”
“y/n, I-” You reach over and press a finger to his lips. Maybe he’ll just brush it off as you being drunk, that’s what you’re hoping for anyway. You wish you could take it back, but that would be the next best thing.
“Really,” you force a smile. “It’s okay. I’m sorry.” You glance at the time on your phone, realizing your train will be there any second. You don’t want to think about the awkward train ride home.
“Here,” you tell him, gesturing towards the entrance to the train station. “You can take this one and I’ll wait for the next one, it’s okay.” Maybe if you say it enough times, it’ll be true.
“y/n, I can’t leave you waiting here for an hour on your own.”
“Fine, I’ll take a cab,” you tell him. “Just go, before I make a fool of myself again.”
“Don’t be ridiculous,” he walks through the doors, so you awkwardly follow him. “Nothing’s changed.”
That hurts more than an actual rejection. You could tell he doesn’t have feelings for you too, but for him to dismiss your feelings like this stings. You can’t stand sitting next to him in dead silence on a 30 minute train ride. You can feel the tears starting to form in your eyes, but you try to ignore them.
Once you’re both on the platform, the train is already there, waiting.
“I’m going to go down there,” you say to him, pointing to the far end of the train. “Don’t follow me.” You hope he can’t tell your voice is about to break.
“Okay,” he replies, right away. That hurts too. You expect him to say something else, but he jumps into the first car.
You wait until he disappears from your sight before you turn and walk all the way to the other end of the train. Once you’re inside, and you’ve found a seat by the window, you take out your phone. You were hoping there would be some kind of text from Hongseok, but there’s one from your roommate instead.
Hongseok called me and said the two of you are out right now and he was going to take you home but something happened ???
You roll your eyes. You really don’t want to get into this right now. But you text your roommate back and say yes, that’s all true.
he asked me to pick you up from the train station, he said you’re arriving at 11 or so, I’ll meet you there
You immediately respond saying that isn’t necessary.
y/n, he said you’ve been drinking…. he’s worried about you getting home by yourself
The second you read that, the tears start to fall. You hate him so much. How could he have no reaction to your confession, but still worry about you like this? It doesn’t make any sense.
You respond and tell your roommate you’ll be there soon.
As the train pulls out of the station, you rest your head on the window and close your eyes. This train ride is so much different than the one this morning. You honestly wish you hadn’t said anything at all. Now you’ve probably lost your best friend forever.
===
Three days go by without hearing anything from Hongseok. At this point, you don’t know what there is to say. You spent a long time wondering if you should be the first to reach out, but you’ve said all you need to. If you’ve ruined your friendship by telling him your feelings, then that’s on you.
You really don’t want to make things any harder for him. You knew he was trying to get on the show, so you really shouldn’t have said anything to begin with. You hope he still makes the right choice for him, regardless of you confessing.
On Saturday afternoon, the doorbell rings. You expect it to be one of your roommates, as they tend to forget their keys often. When you open the door and see Hongseok, you’re stunned.
“Hi y/n,” he says, smiling. Seeing his face makes you want to smile too, but you can’t, considering all you’ve been thinking about these past few days.
“Hi,” you reply. “I’m sorry.”
“Don’t say sorry,” he laughs. “You have nothing to be sorry for.”
“Why are you here?”
“I came to say sorry.” You frown. “I was thrown off guard so my reaction may have come off the wrong way, and I’m sorry for that.”
“What do you mean the wrong way?” Now Hongseok looks nervous.
“How did you feel?” He asks you. “When you told me you’d take a different train, why did you say that?”
“You were rejecting me,” you say. “I didn’t want to sit in a train with you for 30 minutes trying not to cry.”
“You cried?” Hongseok looks like he’s about to cry himself, just hearing that. “I’m so sorry y/n.”
“It’s fine,” you tell him, shaking your head.
“I withdrew my application.”
“You did what?” You’re shocked.
“I called the producers and told them I wasn’t interested anymore.”
“I hope this isn’t because of me,” you say.
“Of course it’s because of you.”
Hongseok’s looking at you that way again, the same way he did downtown, right before his interview. Maybe he wasn’t rejecting you after all. You suddenly feel really nervous.
“I did some thinking,” he explains. “I did want to be on the show, but it was obviously for all the wrong reasons.” You smile at that.
“So you changed your mind?” He nods.
“I want to stay here, and be with you.” That makes your heart rate jump.
“For the right reasons?” You ask, jokingly.
“Yeah, I’m sorry I didn’t realize it sooner,” he replies. “y/n, I love you too.”
You practically throw yourself at him, wrapping your arms around his neck. His arms are tight around your waist as he hugs you back.
“What if I had changed my mind?” You ask, pulling away a little bit. His arms are still around you.
“I knew you wouldn’t,” he rolls his eyes. “And I have a surprise for you, so that would’ve won you back.”
“A surprise?” Hongseok smiles, letting go of you. There’s a small paper bag sitting outside your front door, to the side, that you hadn’t noticed before. He grabs it, and pulls out your favourite cold drink.
“Here you are.” You say thanks and take a sip. “I have food as well, I was thinking we could go to the park.”
“The swings?”
“The way your eyes just lit up is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen.” You roll your eyes at that. “But yes, the swings would be great.”
“Let me grab my things,” you tell him, stepping back into your apartment to get your phone and keys.
“This is going to be such a fun first date,” Hongseok says, as you lock the door.
“Date?” Technically, you knew that’s what this is, but it’s still shocking to hear him say it out loud.
“Yes… If that’s okay.”
“You didn’t bring me a date card though.” Hongseok laughs at that.
“This isn’t Bachelor in Paradise!”
“Well, no, but a card still would have been nice,” you say jokingly. The two of you walk down the hall to the elevator.
“Next time.” You nod in agreement. “Can I offer you a kiss instead?”
“I’m sorry what-” Before you can say anything else, Hongseok takes your hand and plants a kiss on the back of it. “Oh.”
“What did you think I meant, y/n?” He asks, a smirk on his face.
“Don’t worry about it.” The two of you step into the elevator and he pushes the button for the bottom floor.
“As your boyfriend, it’s my duty to worry about you.”
“Boyfriend?” You mean to tease him, but you’re more soft than anything. The word sounds so nice to say.
“Well yeah,” Hongseok says. “You love me, I love you, it only makes sense.”
“You should say that more often,” you tell him, as the elevator stops. He follows you as you step out.
“What?” He asks. “That I love you?” You can’t help but blush.
“Yeah,” you reply, absolutely smitten.
As Hongseok opens the door, and you step out into the warm air, he wraps an arm around your shoulders.
“I won’t let you forget it.”
