random question, what draws you to knuckles as a character? do you have a favourite version of him?

Okok...bear with me, I have to start from the beginning..

I first encountered Knuckles during the time when he was mostly portrayed as, as they described him, a character merely for comedic relief. I watched the boom series back in 2015 and so my first impression of him was that he was an all-brawn-no-brain kinda guy. I found him funny, i guess...i had no clue back then. To explain why i didnt bother to do any research, here are some screenshots of my response on IG...(see below the break)

I was a shallow "fan". I find the sonic casts' design interesting and fun to look at. At that time, that was enough...

1. What drew me into Knuckles then?

I'll get into that, but first...The 2nd movie...The only reason i gave Sonic(by Sonic i meant the whole franchise) a chance was because i saw how Knuckles was portrayed in the 2nd Sonic movie. Very different from what i knew of him at that time.

I began researching about him, after watching the movies. There was something. Yea, i was on an info hunt of just about the guy for months! Along the way tho, i also discovered a ton of things about Sonic, the cast, etc. BUT, i was mostly so eager to know about Knuckles. Then man! There was so much to know about the guy...He wasnt just that all-brawn-no-brain type of guy. Those character analysis videos of Knuckles explained a lot of things about him. He's the most interesting of the cast(for me)---his personality(Most of all), his backstory, his sacred duty, being the last of the echidnas, angel island as his home, what's left of his kind(relics, tech, architecture, art, etc.), so much to unpack...and YET there were almost nothing said about them??? The mysteries about the guy continues. Lots of angles to look into his character.

Hmm... I also realized that there were many ways to interpret(?) Knuckles. The tons of fanfiction you can make about the guy, tons of ways to do headcanons about him---one can look at him through his duty as a guardian, through him being a warrior, through his ancestors--and then recently in Frontiers--through the hidden and long lost and forgotten structures within angel island, also, through the M.E. and through the power that resides in the M.E. Am I making sense even???

[I should say that i liked a lot of these things first, before i even liked Knuckles for his design LOL (gawsh, those times when i struggled drawing the dude. I was so eager to learn how to draw him. Usually i would have given up, but surprisingly i didnt), and the "why did he have to be RED" XDD I didnt like red, until Knuckles...] His personality drew me in at first, then came all of these things...

About his personality/character...I can really relate to that. I also happen to like characters who are tough on the outside and are good (not exactly gentle) in the inside LOL. Knuckles looks so tough, immovable as a mountain, but deep down, he's carrying a lot. Rarely or almost never opening up. I can only imagine him as he got older, him thinking like

"No one will be left to take care of the island after I'm gone anyway...so why should i even bother? I could be doing something else, I could be anywhere, I could make use of what time ive been given, of what time i have left."

*proceeds to chuck them thoughts away* Then just like that, back to guarding duty again, still feeling loyal and determined to fulfill his role, and to who knows until when...

For that, Knuckles is the only fictional character that ive come to genuinely like and become interested in. So much so that i got out of my demotivated-uninspired-artist-prison and began drawing again, and for the fun of it!🌟💥

2. As for my favorite version of him?

My gosh! um, currently Renegade, I suppose??? Man, this is hard gah! Theres always something to like about every version of Knuckles. The Knuckles version in my head, the one i created after consuming a ton of Knuckles info, yea i also like that version LOL XDD🌟

ITS THE PORTAL AND PAW PATROL ANON HI all i did out of extreme brainrot of my two faves i kind of like roleswapped the characters so the entire thing about portal is a test subject who tries and succeeds to escape a laboratory; in the first portal the one who overviews (an AI robot) the testing wakes this test subject and makes her undergo a bunch of tests before attempting to kill her, the test subject shuts this AI down and escapes but gets dragged back in the facility, and in the second portal she and along with a friend (also a robot) accidentally re-powers up this AI but she DOES escape but not before going through a Miscommunication Saga with the other two characters (you should actually go see portal 1 and 2 its so cool and lovely)

so like i was just thinking Rocky being the test subject character Chase being the AI (there are lore reasons /pos) and Marshall being the one who assists Rocky in escaping which kind of leads to this funny interaction Chase: Hey, who turned off the lights? Marshall, opening a wall to help Rocky escape: (Horrible accent) Hey buddy! Ahm speakin' in an accent that is beyond his range of hearing! Rocky, in pure disbelief: ... Marshall: Ah know ahm early, but we gotta go RIGHT NOW! Walk casually towards my direction, and we'll go shut 'im down! (Rocky approaches Marshall) Chase: Hey, metal dog, I CAN hear you. Marshall: Run! I don't need to do the voice! Run! RUUNNN!

and this (Rocky tries to escape through a door, the door then falls revealing it to be a trap.) Chase: I sincerely, truly, did not think you would fall for that. (He starts to corner Rocky) In fact, I devised a much more elaborate trap when you got through this easy one. If I had known you'd let yourself get trapped this easily, I would have dangled a turkey leg on a rope from the ceiling Rocky determined not to react because he doesn't want to give Chase the satisfaction of a response:

Marshall: (To Rocky) AH! I just looked down, I do not recommend it. AHH! I just did it again!

all this really stemmed from how i think marshall and the test subject's friend would get along really well,,, but I hope this didn't cause too much discomfort on your end! (very ooc im aware, but it was fun)

I’m totally headcanoning the omakes take place AFTER this arc XDD (see?! Everyone’s fine! Bisha and Kazu are back! And Bisha’s nursing him back to health!!! Everything is gonna be fiiiiine orz orz)

I would love it someday if Adachitoka ever decides to release a breather chapter just about COVID. Like Bisha running around the manor trying to disinfect things and singing happy birthday washing her hands while her shinki are all lying about, just completely listless. Can shinki get vaccinated? lol

BISHA FELT HIS NAME FADING. as;dfkjas;ldfkja;sldkfjddd. I’m just over here shrieking and waiting for her to get to the battlefield. Meanwhile here’s Kazu putting all his power into Attack Mode and peeling away Yato’s armor. Not sure if this is a power up or if Kazu is just growing desperate to try to end it.

“Have you been holding back on me?” Trash Dad to Mizuchi - I seriously headcanon that Mizuchi is one of the most powerful shinki in the noraverse. She could probably shatter names completely if she wanted to, but why waste all that raw power when a small little crack will do? (Also, ugh, Trash Dad. Mizuchi literally told him, “I love you” as Yato was ready to kill him, and then he turns around and mistrusts her? Like, dude, you should be grateful to her!

I like Mizuchi’s save - “I’m just getting serious,” good cover, girl :)

So Trash Dad comes back from the underworld - it makes it sound like whenever his body dies, he claws his way back instead of being reborn. At first I had wondered if he was reincarnated, and if maybe Mizuchi went out looking for him, maybe even having a procedure similar to finding the Dalai Lama, showing potential candidates a few objects and seeing who picks the right ones. I figured she’d find him reincarnated, then pry open his memories of his past life, the way she did with his shinki. Now reading this makes me think after his host body dies, he climbs back out of Yomi and finds another person to possess, like how Yato took over Hiyori’s body when he used Divine Possession.

So that being said, whatever happened to Fujisaki Kouto? Not Trash Dad, but the teenage boy he possessed? Is it too late to save him? (Again, up until now, I just assumed Trash Dad was reincarnated as Fujisaki, and Mizuchi used her powers to awaken him.) Is Take gonna take down the shrine??? What’s gonna happen???? D: D:

Going back to the omake, I seriously laughed so hard IRL at Take and Bisha shopping, Take with his homemade cloth mask (with flowers on it! Awww Take!!) and Bisha trying to look for Pocari (it’s actually really tasty, one of my favs! Yea Kazu has good taste XD).  I headcanon that even if gods can’t get sick, they can still spread it, which is why they’re absolutely correct in wearing masks. High five, Take!

Did Kazuma catch COVID from Yato? It wouldn’t surprise me :/

Bisha’s rocking leather pants and a button up, looking stylish as ever, same with Tenjin and his suit and T-shirt combo. Could Tenjin have brought Tsuyu shopping? I suspect since she’s a plum spirit she’d be even more useless than him. And ofc Ebisu’s buying bulk and jacking up the price as a business opportunity. (lmao LOOK AT HIS CLOTHES!! Awww baby Ebi! He’s not even wearing socks. I love how Adachitoka shows their characters through their clothes XD)

I love that Yato knows all the homemade remedies and offered to bring food for them. He IS a delivery god, it’s just been years since we’ve seen it. Aww.

ETA: I know I’ve gone on about the idea that Kazuma picks Bisha’s clothes, but dude! Look how stylish she’s dressed! I think Kazuma may have initially helped pick out her outfits in the store but Bisha has an eye for fashion as well XDD

I bet Kazu’s loving being nursed to health by her. After the hell of this arc he’s going through, he deserves being pampered *_* I just imagine Bisha feeding Kazu soup and patting a damp cloth on his forehead. He’d be in heaven right now. Poor boy deserves it.

I absolutely LOVED this episode!! It was so good. And the DRAMA y'all!!! The ANSGT!!! Lovely lol xD <333. Seeing Marjan's side interspersed the others looking for her was just mMH! Amazing :DDD. Also I am LOVING these Marjan storylines we're getting!! A slay for real :D. She deserves it and she is serving SO HARD!! I don't usually say serve but it felt appropriate here lol. Anyway yeah it was an amazing, and super emotional 😭😭💔, episode :DDD!! So great 🥰🥰❤️. And so many nice happy moments in the beginning!! Or sweet moments :D. Especially with the rest of the 126 been after they find out she's missing but also on Marjan's side, like with Mouse, even if (though) she was just Marjan hallucinating herself :)). Anyway!! Lovely ❤️❤️❤️❤️.

Now it's time for the individual parts!

Okay so since I'm watching the next episode a few days late, probably sometime this weekend, it's currently the Thursday after the next episode lol. Sh xD. This will most likely be pretty short though because I have a lot going on.

Marjan! Our lovely girl :'). AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH!!!! She did so good this episode 😭. She slayed so hard :D. Everything she did to escape and fight Grant was just incredible, especially given that she was actually (physically) doing it all alone. Like, dude, she was in a car crash and then she got SHOT o.o! Girl was going through it xd. And I REMEMBER saying last week (not technically by the time I'm actually writing this but shhh) with the promo "maybe that's young Marjan or something?" but I didn't think I'd be RIGHT!!! Not totally, anyway xD. Then I was like, okay so she's not real, but Marjan hadn't seen the car yet, so how is she imagining her (after other people didn't acknowledge her)? And then it WAS MARJAN!!! I also figured the flowers would be a family member using the nickname and I just- aGH!! And I'm so proud of myself for guessing that (and the whole thing in general lol) :DD! Anyway, I feel awful for her - hasn't she had enough traumatic car crashes?? As a kid, in the beginning of season 3, and now?? - but she was amazing this episode :')). Everything with finding out it was her was just 😭😭😭. And even before then, just for Mouse thinking she's a separate character, and then it's extra heartbreaking when you think back on it after finding out it was Marjan :'((. D':, but also :')) because it was just so good xd. Anyway, yeah <3. She did amazing at her job this episode (staying alive xdd). I love her so much ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️🥰.

Overall, I really enjoyed this episode! I thought it was super amazing, and I'm glad we got to see all of the 126 (minus Tommy unfortunately) helping find Marjan - that was really great :'). They're my family your honor 😭. I don't mean that literally, just kind of in a "they're my babeys" kinda way xD. Anyway, we got to see everyone, but we still got a good focus on our wonderful girl Marjan <333. She did so well, and I am so glad she's okay 😭😭😭❤️ xd. I'm also lowkey kinda glad Mouse wasn't real, because any more casualties (not that I'm sad about Grant, but I just mean like, other people) from that crash would just be extra heartbreaking :'((. Still, knowing it happened to Marjan is just :'((( 😭💔. But, yeah :'). I loved the episode, I thought it was absolutely amazing. Everyone was go great 🥰. I'm so proud of all of them, especially Marjan <333.

Tw: mention of illness (respiratory)

So i had this dream today (i forgot about it until rn lol)

I dream that I was transfered to this japanes highschool and lived with this girl's apartment, she was the quiet type but also kinda mean (i remeber how she would just look at me with the stink eye)

This girl lived with her mother who was like a cook or something like that and her lil brother (kindergarden age) he had like respiratory issues so he had those mask that help out the oxygen

So here i was, day by day learning the japanese culture and how the education system worked here, studying and going places. I remeber making mistakes and the girl would call me out but teach about what i did wrong (i remeber we had this ceremony and i accidentaly kept poking a student in front of me for some reason XDD???? dude was mad lmao i just kept apologizing)

But lil by lil the girl became nicer with me, the more time passed the more closer the girl and i would get to the point i became a sister to her

And like once we graduated it like jumped to years later and i became like a tourist for the japanese dudes (i was speaking fluent japanese to them)

So i was in the air port receiving the people and welcoming them until i saw the girl again, much older but i recognized her instataneusly(?)

The dream ended up with us hugging each other, happy to see each other again and then i woke up and the first thing i though of it was that could be a series or something

Soooooooo!!

I’d love to talk about an NPC that is very dear to me!!!

This is June!! June is an elf NPC and is Artemis’s and the sentinels in trainings personal assistant but she’s extremely overworked and most of the sentinels in training feel bad and do stuff for her and don’t make her clean things they make a mess of. She is very anxious and easily frazzled and I absolutely adore her!! I didn’t mean for anything between her and my character to happen it just kinda did xb

There was the ball and Tolus won for being best dressed and he was a bit anxious because someone there was part of the cult they are working to take down. June was there and had been serving punch (she did not want to, it just kinda happened) and Tolus went to go talk to her to see if she heard anything and what she thought of Artemis because he had tested Tolus, offering him into the cult but was like “lol jk just making sure you wouldn’t turn on us” but it freaked Tolus out. Anyway, she gets to flustered because Tolus is trying to be nice and is lowkey flirting with her. She runs off before they can really talk but yea.

Next time they talk is when most of them go on a picnic to give June a break! Tolus accidentally uses the word date to set up a time for them to talk about what he wanted to talk about at the ball and she gets flustered again!! He tries to be like “oh ah! Time and date you know ahaha” to not freak her out but then she’s just straight up like “Are you flirting with me!?” And Tolus is kinda confused because he didn’t realize it but yea kinda he was so he says yes but like “not really because ion wanna stress you out!!” She throws up but is like “That was just stress, I don’t mind you flirting with me” they never set up a date properly because one of the other players Minerva starts acting up XDD

They have a few more brief interactions, the most recent being in the latest session but they literally did not talk, she passed out because Minerva told her how we went back in time and killed the time wizard and saw god and yea, June couldn’t handle it XDDD

Currently, they have yet to go on their date and Heart Day is coming up which is like Valentines Day. I need someone to explain it to Tolus so I can have him do stuff for June, gifts and a proper date!!! Also I really want them to train together so June can get tougher and more confident! Tolus really wants that for her! He thinks she’s awesome and deserves to be more confident in herself and he wants to be there for her for anything. I also always make her with flowers in her hair because 1) it’s cute xb and 2) I imagine once they get closer Tolus would find nice flowers and give them to her/put them in her hair <333 RAAAAAA I LOVE THEM SO MUCH!!!! I imagine their first kiss going horribly xb Tolus gets excited and accidentally rams her face, bloody nose, apologies, panic, anxious. They both are so new to this but they have each other so they’re chillin!! Tolus doesn’t know he’s in love with June yet, he’s just like “yea we’re good friends! Who go on dates and I care deeply about her and I get happy at the thought of her and my heart rate speeds up and my face gets a little hot when I see her and I want nothing but the best for her!! We are such good friends :)!!” Being fair, dude has been alone in a forest for almost 10 years and is just excited to have friends XDD

Thanks for talking about Geordo! I really appreciate getting to see a lot of thoughts that I have about him reflected; he really is such an interesting character. One aspect I like most, that does go some way to explaining his behaviour, is that he's just fundamentally shit at expressing himself honestly lol. He only just started recognising emotions at 8, so obviously he resorts to these socially-prescribed advances to communicate, since his own words aren't the best. He's always deflecting.

Seeing a positive ask about Geordo amongst my inbox questions is very refreshing, thank you anon!

Thank you as well for summarizing Geordo's character arc in such a short and concise way! :DD Geordo being an emotionally stunted character wasn't really portrayed that much in the earlier content of hamefura, but its really in the later books in the novels that we get to see some repercussions of that in his character.

His lack of sympathy/empathy means that his anger is unhinged and extreme. When he's completely angry it'd be almost impossible to calm him down. His feelings of jealousy and attachment are pretty extreme too, which is probably why he reacts negatively when other people touch Katarina so affectionately (like to Alan in S2 EP1). He's still not completely used to love and being loved, which is why he is so aggressive and desperate to show love but is a blushing mess when receiving love (the way he flirted with Katarina in LN7 and tried everything in his power not to blush when he realized that she's actually embarrassed by it for once is a short line I always come back to). When he's happy and relaxed, he really relishes in the feeling and hopes that the moment doesn't ever end.

I kinda like to headcanon due to how many times the books mention how frequently he forces in a charming and can-do smile to nobles even until the present due to their expectations of him as a prince and as "Geordo the perfect dude", that he probably still have instances where he forgets what genuinely smiling happily feels like, until he interacts with Katarina and his friends where he could remember again.

His role as a prince means that lots of eyes are on him, and he always needs to be whatever they want him to be in order to do that job. He might be the opposite of Ian when it comes to emotions (who is familiar with them but barely shows it, since Ian kinda has them turned off just like Nicol's), where because he's still unfamiliar with them some of them can be quite extreme and unhinged. He doesn't cope with those expectations by just not caring like Alan, by pretending not to care but will deal with them in the shadows like Jeffrey because he knows it's his responsibility to respond to those expectations.

Geordo reminds me of a comic I loved when I was got into high school called "World Canvas", where the protagonist is a girl who can identify a person's history, interests and personality by simply touching something that has their handwriting in it. Because of this, she can't create meaningful relationships and is bored of other people because she immediately knows everything about them; how they think, who they are, what their backstory is etc. Just like Geordo, the protagonist too finds solace in the companionship of someone she can't read, because it forces her to actually get to know the other person through he own efforts.

I know it's cliché, but it really shows how boring the world is for someone like Geordo, who couldn't connect to people because he can analyze them so easily, and because he doesn't have functioning emotions to help him identify how to feel about other people. How he feels doesn't matter when he's in front of adult nobles or clingy noblewomen, so he's never really emoted on his own before he met Katarina and all their friends.

And like you said, anon! To some extent not only is he excessively flirty towards Katarina because he's desperate to win her affections, but also because it's the only way he knows how to communicate feelings of romantic affection towards a partner. Like I said a few paragraphs ago, when it actually works he gets super embarrassed by it XDD and when it doesn't, he assumes that his attempts are being blocked by other forces such as their friends, so his solution is just to be even more aggressive lmao.

I wanted to tell you that I'm always so impressed by your animations and I wanted to ask if you had any advice? I would like to learn but I have no idea how to begin. How do you go about it and how did you start learning this process? Thank you very much and I hope all is well!

Hello!!! First off I want to apologize for it taking so long to respond to you- we had a lot of autumnal food storing to do and I was short on time. Animation is something I'm very passionate about and I wanted to give you a thorough answer because I would absolutely LOVE to help you get started in animating!! If there's anything I don't cover, or if you have a more specific question, feel free to send another ask and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. :)

I didn't really do much to get started, I just kinda jumped in with photoshop cs5 (I DON'T recommend doing that LOL 😂) I wanted to make an animated series with my brother so I just started working on the trailer which is like 30 seconds pffft. Since then I've just been learning as I go picking up stuff from watching movies closely. I've still got a lot of basics to figure out like thumbnailing a sequence before you try to animate it, and timing charts (which is what I'm trying to work on now hehe)

My biggest piece of advice for you would be to just jump into it! I think there is no advice that can get anyone started better than to just start doing it. I know that can sound daunting, but there is no better way to get better at any form of art (drawing, writing, singing, etc.) than to just start. You'll learn the best by learning from your own mistakes, as hard as that can be. XD

You can start with some simple exercises to get the hang of moving something, like animate a ball bouncing or a hamster doing a backflip- just whatever sounds most do-able to you. (Do yourself a favor and don't start with a walk/run cycle though. They seem simple but are actually one of the hardest things to animate lol Be smarter than me. XDD) Just start small and work up from there. Go from animating a ball to animating a blink, then animate something turning it's head, saying something, waving, flapping wings. The more animating the more you'll catch the hang of it and drawing the motions will become intuitive. In general, just don't be afraid to try- and if it doesn't look right, don't give up! :D

Richard Williams book, "The Animator's Survival Kit" is a wonderful resource for getting started animating. He walks the reader through the very basics, and then the fundamentals of animation and how to apply it, like squash and stretch and takes. I was able to find a copy at my library and then later bought one off Abebooks for around $12. I haven't finished the book but I did peek ahead and see lip syncing and walk cycles and other wider motions.

I've found a lot of art programs come with an animation system built in. I don't know what program you're using, but I personally love the one for Krita. I find the entire program intuitive and easy to use (that's also my drawing program XD), and the animation window is seconded only by ToonBoom (the current industry standard software which is also EXCELLENT just pricey. You can get a one month free trial for each of the three versions if you want to test it out. Unlike Krita, ToonBoom can make 2d puppets and do "flash" animation.) If you are having trouble with digital animation you can still practice with traditional sketches, I made a tutorial thing for a friend on that here. Flipbooks are something I've heard of working? Like animating on a pad of sticky notes, but I haven't been able to get that to work well for me but you could try it!

If you have any more specific questions I'd love to help you however I am able! Here are some of the resources I've found useful:

Again, I can't recommend enough Richard Williams' book "The Animator's Survival Guide" (an animator trained by Milt Kahl) if you want to understand the basics and are still confused where to start. Also Frances Glebas' (a renowned director) storyboarding book "Directing the Story". Both of those books have been immensely helpful and I can't wait for the free time to read them more and put to action the lessons! XD

I've also found following accounts of animators on instagram has been a help, they'll often post "breakdowns" of shots explaining why they chose what shapes and how they decided to pace motions and stuff like that. jakeleeanimation this dude posts a lot of studies of disney animations kenduncan9 director of the studio that animated Tarzan and Hercules, among others pumbaaguy animator of Kronk and Pumba! framebyframe_animation this helpful account slows animations down and really walks you through the forms and pacing johnpomeroyart worked on Pocahontas and Atlantis, likes teaching people animation! theanimationart explanatory username lol XD AND OF COURSE aaronblaiseart who has retired from animating to TEACH animation and was also trained by the original disney pioneer animators. He does have a website where you can buy a course, and while it is pricey it does often go on sale. I haven't caught the chance to watch through all the episodes yet but I was able to purchase the series for $10 last year.

☕ Sam's imaginary friend?

For context: in season 11 episode 8 we meet Sully, Sam's childhood imaginary friend:

It turns out imaginary friends are a type of creature, Zanna. They guide children who feel lost in life, appearing as figments of their imagination to healthily allow them to move on when they no longer need the help. In the episode, Sully comes to Sam because someone killed one of his Zanna friends, Sparkly the Man-Unicorn (and during the episode they kill another -Nicky the mermaid- and almost kill another -Weems, an apparently normal dude that plays amazing air guitar lol), and he knows Sam (& Dean ig 🙄) will be able to help.

Now, this is one of those ~silly filler episodes Carver era tries to pull off with mixed results, but the genuine & uplifting connection between Sam and Sully puts this one in the green for me. This is in fact one of the two episodes of SPN I saw randomly on tv between when I quit after s4 and my current fixation, and it held up perfectly back down -now, after being as invested in Sam as I am, is even better.

His, however brief, inclusion in Sam's storyline is incredibly moving. It's something else, especially after all these past seasons taking care of beating Sam down, to see someone whose concern for Sam is so heartfelt; how takes care of managing his own feelings to make sure Sam is okay. Who takes the time to make Sam feel good about himself, to call him a hero for saving the world (because Sully kept track of how Sam did!).

The scene where you can feel ALL of that get to Sam to the point where he sits down asking for advice like a kid once again, talking to Sully about his dilemma of the season (at this point he's receiving visions -seemingly from God- telling him the only way to stop Amara might be going back to the cage with Lucifer, the one person who helped trap her before, and ask him), knowing that his feelings will be heard and validated, that Sully is in his corner without condition... I get a bit choked up just thinking about him ngl.

One thing: given how Sully apologizes for "getting it wrong" with Sam in that Sully had thought Sam didn't want to hunt -and they argued about it-, but it seems to have "worked out" for him in the end... I'm curious about whether the finale will give me new thoughts wrt this episode lol.

Sidenote: the way Dean treats Sully is nasty. To the point where, despite him being a one-episode wonder, Sully is WAY too high on my list of characters on whose behalf I've felt murderous rage towards one Dean Winchester xDD. Also: given how part of his instant dislike for Sully is CLEARLY born out of how ebullient and unmasculine Sully acts, I am, once again, saying fuck you very much to everyone who tries to argue Dean is "female coded" *barfs*

Thoughts and Reaction to Mr. Pigeon 72!

I knew this was going to be a really good episode, just because the synopsis we got and the trailer seemed pretty bland. Whenever ML does that, a lot of big things happen in that episode. I screamed and choked on my water in the opening scene where Ladybug's with Alya in Marinette's room. I've been looking forward to Alya and Marinette scenes sooo much since Gang of Secrets! Wayzz & Alya: Hey Marinette, you should take a break and rest. Marinette: Nah, I'm good I gotta keep working Alya: YOU'RE LOSING IT, GIRL! Marinette: Don't care, must work Alya: Okay... you know Adrien and Kagami broke up, right? Marinette: Wait what?! Oh no, Kagami needs me! Alya: Not the reaction I was expecting but okay "Let's not wait for the storm to pass, but let's dance in the rain." I really like this quote! Even during bad times, you need to find the good and enjoy it. And Marinette reaaaally needs to do that. But in a literal sense, please don't dance outside during a dangerous storm.

ALYA AND TRIXX ALDJFSLJDS oh I love them, I'm so happy we'll get to see more of them. The way they both reacted to Marinette saying she has to go console Kagami, they weren't expecting that. xD But I was! I find it very amusing how in episodes like Frightningale she was more upset with Chloe being Ladybug than Chloe being in a video with Adrien that Alya's shocked by her decision, and in Frozer where Marinette was putting Adrien's wants before hers. I really don't understand why people think just because she likes Adrien, she'd not want to help make those around her happy even if it wasn't what she wanted for herself. I'm not surprised at all that Marinette would do this for Kagami, but I'm very happy that she is. "Alya, in Paris, Kagami has no other friend except me. Only I can console her." This makes me so happy. The only times in this show I like Kagami, is when she's with Marinette. After watching this episode, I'm more and more thankful she finally told Alya about being Ladybug I don't even want to know the state she'd be in had she not. O.O She almost ran out of her room as Ladybug (whoops), then almost ran out in her pjs (again, oops). Thanks to Alya, she didn't do either. xD That little detail where Marinette runs out and the sun's really intense, letting us know she's been inside a really long time, so everything outside is really bright. I really appreciate the little things like that. Or at least, that's what I take it as. Unless they're hinting at summer coming up soon... Dang Marinette, just jumps on Kagami's back LOL Kind of reminds me how Chat Noir likes to come up on Ladybug. xD "Your so original friend." Marinette is pretty original! I know the tone implies that's not a good thing, but eh. She's letting her go with Marinette and spend time away, so who cares! Marinette trying really hard to convince Kagami to get back with Adrien and how she's going to help her. I think it's really sweet of her, but Kagami of course clearly doesn't want to. Plagg: What's wrong with you, jumping into ice water! YOU'RE LOSING IT! Adrien: *exposes duffle bag full of Camembert* Plagg: I take back everything I said about you Also huh, Alya just told Marinette she's losing it, now Plagg tells Adrien he's losing it...hmmm. Bob Roth is a horrible person and each time we see him, he does something else to show it. Poor Adrien's allergic to pigeons specifically. I guess he's okay with some birds but not others? Idk? But he told Gabriel it'd be doves, so he approved. But it turned out to be pigeons instead. To be fair, at least in the US, Mourning Doves are often mistaken as pigeons, at least where I live, so they'd make a decent substitute... if it wasn't for Adrien's allergy. Adrien in Gorizilla to Wayhem: If you stop following me around screaming, I think we could be good friends! Wayhem with Cardboard Cut-out Adrien in Mr. Pigeon 72: ADRIENNNNNNN! :/ Marinette has a bag full of everything she may need in all kinds of situations. Comes in handy but good grief girl! How do you lug that all around??? What kind of scenarios do you think up to think of

some of that stuff!? Marinette's so adorable in her bathing suit awwww! Dude. Bob Roth. He said he's allergic to pigeons! And you blame Mr. Ramier because Adrien sneezed and it scared the pigeon away? How is this man successful again? He doesn't listen to anything or anybody. Marinette's like hey Kagami, look at Adrien. You'll start liking him again. Do you feel your heart beating fast now? And she's like "I feel especially bad for the trainer (Mr. Ramier)". I mean same though. He's being treated horribly! x.x Next take, Adrien dives and he sees Marinette with Kagami. But I think he only saw Marinette. Because he says he thought he saw a friend from school (Kagami doesn't attend their school, just the fencing class, as far as we're aware) and also he makes no mention of Kagami at all in this episode. Which means...

Why's your jaw dropping at the sight of your "just a friend" in a bathing suit, Adrien? And, you know, Kagami's literally right there in a bathing suit, too. Just saying. But it's like she's not even there to him. Hmmmmm. Poor Kagami's like, this entire thing is embarrassing, I feel embarrassed for me, Adrien, and this situation. Kagami: Marinette, stop! It's getting crazy! Marinette: Love is crazy! Don't think about it! I love how the more Marinette tries to help Kagami, the more things are working out in Marinette's favor. Interesting, isn't it? The more she tries to tell Adrien her feelings and make opportunities for them, the more they fail. The more she tries to help Kagami, or someone else, the more opportunities for her land in her lap. Hahahahaha the way they both fall LOL "Marinette? 😮" *guilty smile* AND THEN THEY TAKE DOWN POOR EDGAR! :( Mr. Ramier's in the background giving the poor bird CPR as he's drowned and Marinette and Adrien are just casually talking not paying attention lolol "What are you doing here?" "I came to surprise you." Kind of, she was hoping to help Kagami get back with Adrien. So that's a kind of surprise! "Uh, well to relax!" True too, actually. Alya did send her off because she needed to get out of the house and relax from her Ladybug and Guardian duties. Marinette, everyone needs to be careful when at a pool. Clumsy people like you especially need to be careful! lol Good thing Adrien's already seen her fall so many times, it's nothing new lol Gabriel: It's a failure Bob Roth: It's not my fault, it's his! Mr. Ramier: You are under arrest! Edgar is my best friend. He's the most intelligent of the pigeons! Gabriel: It's a pigeon Bob Roth: WHAAAT? IT'S A PIGEON? RAMIER, YOU LIED TO ME. Sorry Gabriel, I'll replace this man! I know a shark trainer First off... LOL that whole scene XDD I actually knew Bob Roth was going to say that entire thing before I heard it lolol Second... awww Edgar's okay! c: and third... I'M SORRY, YOU WANT OUR PRECIOUS BOY TO BE AROUND SHARKS?!?!? Who keeps this man employed?!?! Idk why but this whole time I thought that everyone would turn into giant talking pigeons lol ah well "I realized my mistake! We'll recreate the moment where you fell in love!" ohhh? Like I mentioned earlier, whenever she tries to do something to help Kagami (or someone else) that's when her intentions work out best for her. 😉 One of my favorite things from Style Queen was Plagg and Ladybug working together. Now they're working together again and just... ahhhh I gushed so much at that scene! x3 YESSSSSSS what I've been waiting for! Ladybug can just call Alya now and be like hey, I need your help! And Alya can just be like okay cool, and either goes to her room to get the Miraculous herself, or finds her and gets the Miraculous. So cool! Of course, I'll be most excited if she ever gets to just keep it on her, but... baby steps. Rena did a phenomenal job speaking as both Ladybug and Chat Noir lol. She's such a fan of them both, she knows just how they are around each other. Oh, oh no. We're trapped against a wall by a few pigeons. Looks like our only option is to give up and remove our Miraculous and reveal our identities. Are you seriously buying that, Gabriel? Plagg's like HELLO I'll be taking this! Alya did everything from inside Marinette's room. Ladybug was trapped in that room at the pool the entire time. All it took for this akuma to be defeated was Illusion that can be done from anywhere and Plagg getting the object off Mr. Pigeon. That's amazing! Also, this is the first time Ladybug didn't have to actually see things around her to know what to do. She just focused and thought about it. o.o Okay so hold up. Thanks to Alya, Marinette now knows she can create charms to protect past akuma victims and keep them from getting reakumatized, which is wonderful. I love how much of an impact Alya knowing is having! BUT How exactly does Monsier Rat come about then if he has a charm to protect him??? 🤔🤔🤔 I really like how her drive to want to figure things out was

especially because Mr. Ramier's been akumatized so many times, and she wanted to help him from having to continue to go through that. "This girl is truly Miraculous" awww cute how he got to just watch that this time.

I screamed at this moment because I knew. Since Origins, we have not seen this exact sky. Even during rainy scenes like in Chat Blanc or New York, they didn't look like this. YES, Kagami knows that the way Marinette feels about Adrien shows how much she loves him, but she knows she doesn't feel that way about Adrien too. And "You're right, Adrien is perfect... perfect for you." With a smile and everything! Awwwwww! This acceptance, and the Marinette and Kagami friendship in this episode is really, really good! 😭 "Wow, have you kept it [the umbrella] all this time?" She sure wasn't expecting that!! But wow Adrien, you noticed? Then Coup de Foudre happens again. Yeah, this girl is never getting out of her feelings for him.

Of course she's having trouble with her words still, but that's okay. But she's like oh, I'll give it back, and he just pushes it to her and says she'll need it to get home... unless she'd like a ride with him. AND SHE ACTUALLY ACCEPTED AND WRAPPED HER ARM AROUND HIS OMG.

To then only have the umbrella close on BOTH of them!

AND THEN ASKS IF HE WANTS TO WALK INSTEAD BECAUSE THEY HAVE THE UMBRELLA! She's come so far! And the sheer disappointment when he remembers he can't because of his Chinese lesson :/ And then, because he can't not be looking at Marinette, he hits the back of his head on the car, making himself look silly, just like in Origins she made herself look silly. This time she laughs, and he laughs with her. And it's literally Umbrella Scene 2.0 and it's absolutely everything.

DORKS ❤️❤️❤️ "They are made for each other." awwwww instead of Master Fu, this time it's Kagami. And she sounds very okay with that, that's so nice. "Let's not wait for the storm to pass, but let's dance in the rain." Then proceeds to dance in the rain!

Ahhh what a refreshing, good episode after how much she's been struggling and crying! So lovely! Her friendships with Alya and Kagami were really strong in this episode, her doing her best to help her friend with the guy she herself has always liked, and then Kagami was the one that wasn't really into it, and it made both girls realize that Marinette loves Adrien and is the one best for him, not Kagami. And I'm pretty sure this episode helped Adrien to open his eyes to Marinette more too. At least, this is the beginning of that, anyway! Alya's such a tremendous help to Ladybug now, which is everything. I do wonder if more friends will very slowly start to find out her identity and they end up contributing more to bringing down Hawk Moth, so she really, really isn't alone like she once thought. I don't really have any complaints about this episode at all! Just a bit sad we had no actual Chat Noir, but we got Ladybug and Plagg from it, so it's fine with me! x3 I know some may see it as "Chat Noir isn't necessary, how dare they do this to him!" but no, he's very necessary, sometimes he just can't be there and she can't do it alone. You have to remember how much Chat Noir means to Ladybug, and that she wouldn't even BE Ladybug if it weren't for Chat Noir! I'm really curious now about what episode 5 is, since now we've gotten Episodes 1-4, 6, we're getting 7,8, and 13 later, and we've already gotten 11. Filling in the gaps for the first half of the season! This entire week is going to be crazy with the new episodes, and for each one I'll be writing one of these posts for, so be on the look out for them!

I feel so frustrated, I mean.. I read so many bullsh*ts around and I'd like to know your opinion. I think that making a villain sympathetic through their backstory is not *insert bad action* apology. I'm so tired of people trying to make me feel guilty just because I think 100% of times a bad person is not born bad but turned into a monster because of a lot of reasons. It's dehumanizing to consider someone bad without taking into account their past. There's always a reason in the past, even if a villain looks like they're enjoying doing bad things. It's sad and something to be compassionate to that a person find enjoyable hurting others because something in their past made them reach the point where they think hurting others is acceptable or even the only way out

eh I... agree with you on all accounts but again this is... the ultimate reaping the sows of this idiotic attitude cool motive still murder in fandom everywhere lately which like, some times it could be a fair objection to... people not owning up to their favorite being actually an asshole (and even then it would be valid just if they’re harassing you), but most times it started like that and turned into AH IF YOU JUSTIFY BAD DUDE’S BACKSTORY OR EXPLAIN IT THEN YOU EXCUSE HIM, which like.... shows at least some things:

a complete lack of being able to analyze a story going outside the ‘good guys vs bad guys scheme’ which is why I really wish people stopped consuming only media aimed for ages from fourteen under because that’s not going to do anything to help you

refuse to consider the fact that what happens to anyone in life shapes them negatively or positively but negatively is... a... thing, thus falling back on the usual calvinist bullshit of either you’re good or you’re bad and the best thing you can do to redeem yourself is dying to help someone else, which again.... the world doesn’t work like that

a complete refusal of actually trying to understand how trauma and abuse works because like cool motive still murder for someone you don’t like 99,9% of the times translates in the good victim vs bad victim dynamic, which in turn basically translates into ‘if you’re an abuse victim/you have trauma but you don’t react in The Appropriate Way or don’t fit the Good Victim points then your trauma/abuse isn’t valid’, which like... sorry but all victims of trauma/abuse are valid in that sense and you can’t write off someone just because they didn’t react the way you think they should

(which then usually means that they treat fans of problematic character who might in their turn have trauma etc in the same way and like... lol no)

now, thing is, one thing is fiction and another is real life - in real life if someone hurts you and they’re a shit person and they have exceedingly good reasons to be but they’re still a shit person you don’t have to be in contact with them and if they don’t get their shit together even moreso (or if they try to and reach out for help you can accept to or not), but when it comes to fiction the point is: it’s up to the damned author.

like, one thing that people don’t get is that obviously fictional bad actions are not happening in real life and a narrative is usually built to either redeem the person committing them or not, but if they want to, then... that character will be redeemed and there’s like nothing the reader can object. now, like... I mean if this ask isn’t about b*n solo I’ll eat my hat but if it’s not let’s just take him as the poster child example for this entire bullshit trend: ofc if you kill your father irl you go to jail, but since star wars is a SPACE OPERA where real life world consequences don’t exist and patricide is a literary device since the history of ever (GREEK TRAGEDY FFS) to symbolize freeing yourself from your roots and needing to find yourself and so on, the act of ben killing han in itself means shit narratively beyond telling you that ben has ISSUES that made him go to the dark side and that he’s conflicted, and in the moment that someone is conflicted you already should see he’s a decent person or has the potential to be. now, ofc ben solo did an amount of exactly not kosher things and is a shit at declaring his feelings and has issues, but the point is: if the sw sequels (as bad as the overall narrative eventually was) wanted him to be conflicted and then do the right thing (reconciling himself with his parents ahahahahah HAN FORGAVE HIM LIKE.. XDD) then they want you to see him as a human being who made mistakes but then could still do the right thing. the fact that he died after bc they couldn’t commit to one damned side and do a sensed story doesn’t matter, but the concept of ‘he did x y and z fictionally so BAD’ is stupid bc x y and z never happened irl and you can choose to forgive a fictional character because he’s fictional, and a lot of people who are ‘’bad victims’’ or not poster children for trauma management actually do find hope in seeing characters like that getting another chance. because guess what, catharsis through fiction. like guys I realized I could actually not settle for someone out of fear of not ever finding anyone the moment I realized why I was into jb that much, someone else can find catharsis in bensolo being redeemed or whatever and people refusing to see it can’t engage with an adult-driven story (and not even for children bc a lot of media for children has bad guys who turn good).

and in that sense like.... I mean personally if I see a character like that I don’t even count them as villain bc I know they won’t eventually be (like I didn’t consider bensolo a bad guy since... ever) and for me villains are 95% of the time just people who are assholes without redeeming qualities that the author doesn’t care for redeeming even if they explain why they’re like that (see instances c. lannister for one I hate and randall flagg for one I actually love) so I have troubles like.... seeing them as bad guys (I mean the... supposed one from luke cage s2? for me went from vague villain to antagonist the moment they exposed his backstory lmao) and idg this mindset but personally I just hope fandom goes back on the ‘you do realize you can like antagonists without being a bad person for relating to them’ train because this entire mindset is just... fucking... tiring.

[Bill’s modified Cursed Barrier would allow its caster to keep anyone with a Dark Mark from entering a certain space. He demonstrated the wand movement for the assembled students so they could follow along with their own wands -- then everyone split into small groups and practiced it together.

When Bill felt confident about how everyone’s wand movements looked, he addressed them]

Bill: “Well done, everyone! Now all that’s left to give the spell a go.”

[He turned to Carewyn with a smile.]

[Carewyn grinned, striding up to the front of the class. Raising her wand, she slashed at the air in front of her.]

“Relinquo Mortis!”

[A bright flare of white light created a pretty, star-like shield around her like a bubble, before quickly dissipating away.

Carewyn gave Bill a frown.]

“...How do you know if it’s worked? No one here has a Dark Mark, so we can’t test it...”

[Merula whirled on Andre, opening her mouth as if to retort, but Carewyn ended up talking over her, looking both shocked and very disapproving.]

"Andre!”

[Andre was startled by the level of severity in her voice -- Merula was too.

Charlie shot Andre a reproachful look out the side of his eye.]

Charlie: “Not cool, mate. You gonna say the same thing to Barnaby next? His folks knew You-Know-Who too.”

[Startled, Andre glanced over at Barnaby, who looked hurt.]

Andre: “(upset) No! No, I didn’t mean it like that -- ”

[He looked up at Carewyn imploringly.]

Andre: “Carewyn, you know I wouldn’t think that -- I was just ribbing, I swear...”

[Carewyn crossed her arms, her gaze so piercing it could’ve rivaled McGonagall’s.]

“Maybe you were, but it wasn’t funny. Merula and I may not see eye-to-eye much of ever, but she is not her parents. None of us are.”

If Jacob and I were anything like Dad, we’d be pretty rotten people.

Tulip: “(gives a dry laugh) Ha! I’m certainly evidence of that.”

Tonks: “(cheekily) Me too -- I know if I were ever to procreate, I’d never name my kid something dumb like ‘Nymphadora’ -- “

[Some of the tension ebbed from the room -- Penny and Jae were both laughing, and Liz and Charlie were grinning. Even Carewyn herself spared Tonks a smile.

Andre looked down at the ground, abashed.]

Andre: “(mumbling) ...Yes, of course.”

[He glanced at Merula, clearly reluctant to apologize. Fortunately Merula’s focus was elsewhere -- she kept glancing from Carewyn to Charlie, as if she were still stunned that the two had defended her.]

Bill: “(levelly) Why don’t we go ahead and call it a night? I’ll see you all Friday, after your classes.”

[As the assembled students started to head out, Bill added,]

[Carewyn noticed Rowan watching, as if silently asking if Carewyn wanted her to wait for her. Carewyn gave her a small smile and wave.]

“I’ll see you back in the commonroom, okay?”

[Rowan smiled in return and nodded, before heading out with Barnaby and Liz. Carewyn also shared an offhand wave with Charlie before he headed out. Merula caught her eye briefly and Carewyn thought at first she wanted to say something, but Merula seemed to have changed her mind almost instantly and rather quickly shuffled out with Ismelda.

Carewyn turned back to Bill. His expression had lost some of the confidence and composure he’d shown in front of the others, making him seem a bit more vulnerable than before.]

Bill: “...Charlie told me...you talked him out of leaving Hogwarts, while you were practicing the Barrier spell with Penny and Rowan.”

[His voice was a lot softer and very grim. Clearly he’d been upset when he’d learned what Charlie had been thinking of doing too.

Carewyn’s eyes softened sadly.]

“I couldn’t have done anything else.”

If Charlie left now, I know he’d regret it. He’d miss out on finishing school, his family would be so worried -- and...I could never protect him from R, if he were that far away...

[Bill’s face broke out into a very small, warm smile.]

Bill: “For...supporting him...the way I should’ve.”

[He suddenly looked very guilty.]

Bill: “I’ve been throwing myself into my cursebreaking work to take my mind off what happened in the Vault -- with Rakepick...and, in the process...I completely missed how badly Charlie’s been affected too. Probably feeling the same things I’ve felt...”

[Carewyn’s eyes fell to the floor just to the right of Bill’s shoe.]

“...Yeah. Some of the things he said...did remind me of you a bit -- you know, when we were last in here?”

The anger and sadness -- the pain of being betrayed by someone who was supposed to protect us...

[Bill nodded solemnly.]

Bill: “I remember.”

[His voice then grew a little softer again as he gave Carewyn a weak smile.]

Bill: “I’m just so grateful that you were there for him, like you were for me.”

[Carewyn met Bill’s eyes, her face very serious even despite the gentleness of her voice.]

"And I always will be.”

[Carewyn knew how painful it was to feel truly, horribly alone. She’d had no friends growing up, so when her mother was busy with work and Jacob was at school, Carewyn had become very used to doing things on her own, whether it was finishing homework or playing one-sided games of jacks or checkers. It made her latch on that bit more desperately to her mother and brother -- made her hoard their attention and love that bit more every time --  made it so that when Jacob disappeared, her whole world came crashing down around her ears...

All of her friends at Hogwarts -- Rowan, Bill, Chiara, Talbott, Barnaby, all of them -- they’d made her life more than just obsessively chasing after the Vaults and Jacob. They’d given her the chance to care for them and solve their problems, which in turn gave her real confidence and made her happier than she ever could’ve imagined before walking through those castle doors.

Her friends gave her joy, even in the midst of so much danger and fear -- and for that, she knew she couldn’t let anything happen to them. Even if she had to lie to them -- even if she had to keep secrets and say things she didn’t mean -- she had to make sure they survived. If they did...the best part of herself would still exist.]

I promise. I’ll protect Charlie, and you, and Rowan, and Barnaby -- all of you. I promise I’ll take care of you.

Bill: “Thank you, Carey. My brothers...Ginny...they mean the world to me.”

[Carewyn’s heart ached with empathy. She knew exactly how Bill felt.]

If anything happened to Jacob...if anything has happened to Jacob, out there...

[The thought was too painful for Carewyn to bear. She shoved it down fiercely, unable to put the sentiment into words.

Almost as if on cue, Bill and Carewyn were interrupted by the sudden arrival of Percy, who dashed up to them looking very anxious.]

((OOC: DUN DUN DUN! XD Will probably compress the twins’ disappearance somewhat in my next roleplaying post so as to get to that dragon sidequest, but hey, I do love some Bill and Carewyn interaction. I’ll love it even more, though, when Carewyn can actually lean on Bill emotionally too sometimes...oi! Bill really can’t do much better than Carewyn to look after his brothers, though -- once you are Carewyn’s friend, she is your surrogate Mama Bear, no questions asked. XDD

Honestly, Andre’s little jab at Merula did feel really below the belt to me, did anyone else think so? I mean, it’s not OOC for him exactly, given his wit and critical nature, but...ow, dude! Still adore you to all get out, but I know your ex-girlfriend would have something to say about it, however much Merula still frustrates her. :P

The incantation I made up for Bill’s Cursed Barrier comes from the Latin words for “leave” and “death”...so yeah, it pretty literally means, “Leave, Death!” LOL. The Latin word “mors” is also used in the incantation to cast the Dark Mark, Morsmordre.))
