was going through old files and found the start of a resident evil village fic... idk if i'll ever finish it, so here's the start for posterity. maybe i'll finish it someday if there's any interest warnings for descriptions of animal harm, gore and surgery, along with some emotional abuse also also, if anyone here speaks french and would be willing to tell me if the tiny bit of french in here sounds correct, i'd appreciate it! i went through a few channels that were more advanced than google translate, but i don't speak the language myself and didn't really have any way to verify
Salvatore Moreau was a very good doctor. At the very least, his mother had always said so.
To be fair, she wasn’t the only one who said so, but she was always the one who was the most adamant about it, even before he could speak.
Stories fed to him when he could barely hold his head up of his grandfather, his namesake, who had left Italy for France to study under the Louis Pasteur— or at his university, at least— and Salvatore had learned by age two and a half that he should always pretend that he understood why that was a big deal.
By age four, he really did understand why that was such a big deal, and by age five, after lengthy stories from his mother of his grandfather’s most gruesome surgical endeavors and hints that his namesake had been prepping since he was half Salvatore’s age, he had started performing medical experiments of his own, shaking, pudgy hands rifling through his father’s tackle box, taking out the worms and insects, using a hook to open them up and see how they ticked.
His father never liked it, seeing the boy tear his bait apart on the docks of the reservoir, but his mother was thrilled, and tutted away his father’s concerns.
“It’s a surgeons instinct,” she would coo, pressing a kiss against the boy’s cheek and placing a needle and thread in tiny hands, so he could stitch everything back together. “I just want him to have a head start. He’ll need hands-on experience before he goes to Paris!”
“Of course,” his father would say, never one for arguments, “but couldn’t we stick to creatures that are already dead?”
“He’ll have plenty of time to work on cadavers in school,” she would retort, and sometimes the discussion would become a bit more tense, a back and forth babble of French and Italian that Salvatore could make out if he focused, but rarely bothered to focus on. The Italian always won, anyway.
“Just…” he would finally hear in tired French, “nothing that feels. Nothing more than bait… Nothing with fur, or a real brain…”
And Salvatore was happy to agree with that— bigger things would squirm or scream, and he didn’t like to feel like he was hurting anything. He was practicing being a doctor, he wasn’t trying to cause harm.
But by age seven, his mother started handing her little surgeon field mice and toads from the lake, speaking breathlessly about how his grandfather had once amputated a leg in five minutes flat, and he knew she wanted him to try to do it in four.
A mouse’s leg was so much thinner, after all.
She was ecstatic when one of his tiny patients finally survived the night, and had gleefully told him that his father wouldn’t have to know they were expanding their medical practice.
“He’s a sweet man, your father, a good man,” she would say, with genuine fondness, patting her son’s cheek, “just…not ambitious. We both want you to be the best you can be, tesoro, we just don’t agree on how to get you there…”
And Salvatore wasn’t sure how he felt about her dismissing his father— he seemed happy with his life, after all— but it was hard to act as if he was living up to his potential.
He was sure, after all, that when his father had told his mother he had a Lordship waiting for him if his family ever returned to Romania, she was not expecting the man to remain a fisherman after he had accepted it. A Lord usually made more of himself.
When he asked his father though, on one of the quiet, early morning boat trips he took his boy on so often, the man had simply laughed quietly.
“A Lordship is just a title, Salvatore,” he’d said, wrapping another blanket around the boy’s shoulders— Salvatore always forgot how chilly the morning mist on the boat was, and his father always kept spare wool blankets by the tacklebox, so the boy wouldn’t have to remember. “I’m sure some old Moreau was great some hundred-odd years ago, or at least found a way to make some money somehow, but it doesn’t mean much nowadays. A bit of land, a crest…”
“A boat,” the boy had giggled, kicking the bottom of the old thing, and his father had laughed.
“No, no, the boat I built.”
Salvatore had squirmed a little, confused, hands gripping his fishing rod. “We… we owned a reservoir, but not a boat?”
And the man had chuckled again. “Your brains come from your mother’s side of the family, mon chou. Not the Moreau side, even if someone long ago managed to be great on a reservoir without a boat.”
“Well. You were smart enough to build a boat.”
The man had hummed softly and nodded in humble agreement, standing up to cast his line out again.
“… So if we’re Lords here,” the boy continued, gnawing on dirty fingernails, “why did you ever live in France?”
“Well, we have family there, of course,” his father had said, chewing on his cigarette, eyes glued to the lake, “but it was mostly the weather.”
“… Your family gave up being Lords because of the weather?”
“We’re cold-blooded creatures, us Moreaus,” his father had whispered conspiratorially, piling another blanket on the shivering boy and sticking out his tongue when he snorted. “We do better where it’s temperate.”
“But it’s still cold here. It’d be nicer in France. Or Italy.”
“Hm, it is, but your mother’s enough of a firecracker to keep anyone warm,” the man had said, half exhausted and half lovestruck, and Salvatore really couldn’t argue with that. “And besides. She liked the idea of being a Lady… found it romantic, you know.”
The boy had nodded again, kicking his legs and reeling in experimentally, just to see if he could catch any fish’s attention. It didn’t work.
“But there’s no expectation for you,” his father had said, tugging on his own line. “There’s no, ah… role you have to play, because of my family.”
“Mama says being a doctor would be be-befitting of a Lord.”
“And it would be if that’s what you’d like,” he’d said, patting his son’s shoulder. His jaw had set, just a little, and Salvatore regretting bringing it up. “We both want you to be happy, Salvatore, we just—”
“Don’t agree on how to get me there,” he’d finished quietly.
“No, we don’t,” the man was reeling his line in now, having felt a tug. “But nobody does, really, for anybody. Ready with the net now.”
The boy had nearly dropped his own pole in the water in the rush to get the net for what ended up being a much smaller than average fish, but his father never chided him for that sort of thing.
Despite his mother’s aspirations, stories of how his parents met never included the Lordship.
“We met at the market,” his mother would say dreamily, whenever her son asked. “He tried to sell me a tiny trout for three francs…”
“And?” Salvatore would always prompt giddily, despite knowing how the story went.
“And I told him that for that price, I’d better get it fully cooked with wine and dessert… and he was happy to do it.”
“The dinner,” his father would always add from his armchair, “was more than three francs—”
“And the trout was very good,” she would concede, kissing him on the cheek and patting his arm as he blushed furiously.
“Was it worth it?” Salvatore would ask his father, as if he didn’t already know the answer, as if he weren’t essentially reciting a script, and he was never surprised when mother would reply instead.
“Was a wife worth three francs?”
“I think I could have spent less on the dinner if I’d thought it through more,” his father would always say, smiling the whole time.  “But the date was well worth the seven francs I spent.”
There were many stories like that, back and forth skits of things his mother had already told him— everything from his grandfather’s most harrowing surgical endeavors to the hectic day that he was born— but the day his parents met was always his favorite. It was the one they seemed the happiest to tell, the one they always remembered new details of.
His mother would always tell him later, while tucking him in, that she would have insisted on dinner with his father even if he’d charged a single centime for the trout, because her demand for dinner and wine hadn’t really had anything to do with the trout itself, and his father would always tell him the next morning on the boat that he’d deliberately overcharged for the trout just to have an excuse to haggle with a pretty girl, which had worked out far better than he ever could have imagined.
“So, it was love at first sight?” he would ask them both, without fail.
“Of course it was, tesoro,” his mother would sigh, brushing his hair out of his eyes and taking off his glasses, setting them on his bedside table. “Why else would I have made him take me to dinner?”
His father would always be asked the next morning, back on the boat, and he would breathe air out of his nose and smile softly, shaking his head.
“I wouldn’t call it that, Salvatore… love takes time, work, you know? It’s a… process,” he would say, baiting his hook. “But I knew I wanted to know her better.”
Salvatore decided from an early age that he liked his mother’s answer best, but he never said so, at least not to his father on those frigid, foggy mornings.
“He changes the story, doesn’t he?” his mother would ask, needle and thread and a rabbit bundled into her arms, and he would relay the conversations on the lake, to drown out the rabbit’s screams. To stop his hands from shaking.
“No,” he would say, hoping to avoid the inevitable. This was another script, but one he liked much less, and it was hard to recite his lines when his hands were slick with viscera.
“He doesn’t say it was love at first sight,” she would sigh, looking intently at her son’s handiwork.
“He says love takes time,” he would say, wrist deep in gore, “and work.”
“So it takes work to love me, does it?” and the teasing note in her voice would never be enough to stop his queasiness from building.
“No,” he’d say over the rabbit’s screeches, or mouse’s, or the toad’s, “of course not.” And his voice would quaver even though he’d mean it.
She never noticed the hesitancy, and he was glad, because the minute his patient was stitched up, that nervous note in his voice would wash over him in a wave of shame. He’d shake and snivel after every procedure, and he was convinced it had to be because of that hesitancy over the woman convincing him to tear apart the local fauna, and not the act of tearing them apart. He refused to entertain the idea it could be a little of both.
Her son’s trembling was something she could not ignore, and she’d take his hands, still dripping from surgery, still pudgy with baby fat, and smile softly. “A surgeon’s hands,” she’d sigh, squeezing. “You’ve done such a good job, Salvatore, you have a surgeon’s hands.”
It was almost enough to make him feel better.
“Now, let’s get you cleaned up before your father sees.”
That was what really made him feel better, at the end of the day, wiping off the gore. He tried not to think about it too much. There wasn’t much use for a squeamish surgeon.
Even as he got older, as his hands started to shake less, as he learned how to quiet the animals’ screams and as he developed an appreciation—or at least a fascination—with the work his mother was pushing him towards, he was still relieved every time he got to clean his hands and be done with it.
He was ten when his father found him, halfway between the makeshift surgical center and the lake, rushing to dip sopping red hands in murky water. His father had looked at him, hunched over and bloody and crying, and his face had gone gray, and he’d docked the boat and headed up to their house without a word.
The din in the house started almost immediately and for once, the French overpowered the Italian.
He tried not to listen, as he scrubbed and scrubbed and scrubbed and tried to drown out the noise, washing until his hands were sore to try to feel clean, to avoid going into the house.
The yelling carried, though, no matter how loudly he splashed, no matter how much he muttered to himself. The only sound he could hear was his father, angry like he’d never heard before, so angry Salvatore was sure he was sobbing, refusing to back down for once.
Vous pensez que c’est ce qui est le mieux pour lui? Vous pensez que c’est ce qui le rendra heureux? Il est trempé de sang, il tremble! Mon Dieu, il n'a que dix ans!
                Dear God, he’s only ten!
When he pulled his hands from the lake, they were still bloody, and it took a good few seconds to realize that this time, it was his own blood. From the state of his hands, raw and cracked and trembling—God, he wished he could stop the trembling-- scrubbing any more would only make things worse, so he just sat on the dock miserably, holding his fingers above the water and waiting for them to dry.

omg, a fellow chadley truther (definition: someone who believes chadley was AT THE VERY LEAST modeled on child sephiroth)! if pre-nibelheim sephiroth met chadley, what would their relationship be like? would seph immediately assume that big brother role or would it take time?
Sephiroth + Chadley
YES Chadley is best boy! Also, here's the long-winded answer you didn't ask for but I'm giving you anyway because I have a lot of feelings.
Imagine this: The bastard who had you as a lab rat throughout your childhood continues to hold power over you both as your biological father and the scientist the company who owns employs you entrusts your personal care to.
Now you see him create a sentient cyborg and model it after your childhood self, then reduce it to a personal assistant. It's a loyal puppet created to serve the afformentioned slimy bastard. It doesn't have the free will you had that allowed you to leave.
You assume the poor kid probably doesn't even know he's a puppet. Except he does. Here's what Chadley told Cloud during that one scene in the remake verbatim:
"Now that my research is at long last complete...I believe that it's time I told you the truth about myself. I'm...not human. I'm a cyborg created to serve as Hojo's assistant."
"I was given knowledge and power beyond that of a human...But I was robbed of free will, bound to obey the whims of my master. But when we met, Cloud, I sensed something within you—something I knew would allow me to break free of my chains."
"By identifying and studying a subject with infinite potential such as yourself...I could adhere to the directives imposed upon me...all the while pursuing my plans for independence in secret. Your combat data provided me with the vital information that I required to enhance my basic functionality..."
"This is the result. Through my research and with your assistance, I have freed myself from Hojo's bondage."
So if we fully believe what Chadley is saying is true (meaning, he's not just a mouthpiece for Hojo, a theory I could make a whole separate post about...) then this is great! He's freed himself all on his own!
But if we bring Sephiroth into the picture, seeing Hojo create Chadley, a clearly sentient cyborg, to then reduce him to a personal assistant/ loyal puppet would absolutely sicken Sephiroth. There's no doubt about it. He'd be absolutely devastated.
He'd ultimately be seeing a sort of repeat of his own childhood, but this time it's with a being that's been created to obey Hojo. Not taught through brute force, not because that's all he's ever known, because it's a cyborg!
Which is honestly so slimy! You lost your son through him not wanting anything to do with you and refusing to adhere to your ideals (And because Sephiroth "died" in canon), so your grandiose solution to this is to create a cryborg version of him???? Except this time you guarantee that he's literally a puppet??? There aren't enough swear words nor insults that would satisfy my need to curse this bastard out.
(Sorry for the rambling) Now to answer your question:
In my headcanons (meaning the way I write Sephiroth), sane!Sephiroth would've saved Chadley long before the kid caught wind of what Hojo did to him. Wether that's by breaking into the labs and grabbing Chadley himself (Genesis, Angeal and Zack would assist in operation grand theft Chadley), or by slowly building a relationship with him I'm not sure.
Sephiroth didn't grow up with a family of his own, so I believe he wouldn't immediately consider Chadley his brother. But I do think Sephiroth would see Chadley as an equal, just as he sees Genesis and Angeal, and furthermore of the same kin.
The exact how is something I'd love to explore either in my pre-existing fics or through a separate medium. But ultimately Sephiroth and Chadley would bond.
Their relationship would be sweet. I think Sephiroth would greatly benefit from having Chadley as a younger brother figure pre-Nibelheim. He'd have family. Who knows? That might even be the aid to Sephiroth's wounds regarding his parentage.
Also I hc Chadley as being a rebellious little nerd with a zest for independence, so that would fit right into my hcs for Sephiroth! I imagine Sephiroth teaching Chadley how to fight, and them talking about astronomy and other science-y stuff together :) It's cute.
This is of course before Zack and Genesis get wind of "Sephiroth Jr." and vow to corrupt him :)
And that's how Director Lazard demands to know "WHY IS THERE A TINY CYBORG SKATEBOARDING WITH FAIR AROUND THE SOLDIER FLOOR?? GENESIS! ARE THOSE FIREWORKS!!??? DON'T TEACH THE CHILD HOW TO—PUT THE CAMERA AWAY, SEPHIROTH!"

scandalous star: henry fonda - an analysis
“I don't really like myself. Never did. People mix me up with the characters I play. I'm not a great guy like [some of the characters I play]. I'd like to be but I'm not.” - Henry Fonda
Pity. I love Henry Fonda. Mainly because he reminds me so much of my own father, who also happens to be a strong, silent Taurus. His bearing suggested something like morality, a sort of ethics of posture and gait: upright and humane, empathic if also stoic and withdrawn. Indeed, he was, onscreen, a man who exemplified for nearly half a century a man of honesty and decency in more than 100 film and stage roles. So much of what we know about Fonda derives from the authority of his body on-screen: a long, taut, calibrated instrument, most expressive when restrained—as it nearly always was. He perfected an understated style that might be called precisionist, his performances all sharp lines and edges. He acted naturally. On film, he repeatedly bears the values, and burdens, of civilization. Many people my age associate him not with the performances of his Ford-era classics—the stunning 12 Angry Men being my personal favourite—but with his self-portrait as the flinty father in the sentimental 1981 drama On Golden Pond, his swan song for which he won an Oscar.
Fonda was the patriarch of a family of famous actors, including daughter Jane, son Peter, granddaughter Bridget, and grandson Troy Garity. His two biological children, Peter and especially Jane, are more immediate in the collective consciousness, linked to ’60s counterculture via hedonism and leftist radicalism, and because each had a publicly strained relationship with him. Fonda is a man stranded due to the intensities of familial strife, amplified into cultural conflict. Off-screen, Fonda was a useless father and unfaithful husband. True to his earth and air dominance, Fonda loathed displays of feeling in himself or others, and this was a consistent part of his character. Whenever he felt that his emotional wall was being breached, he had outbursts of anger, exhibiting a furious temper that terrified his family. He was described as cold, self-absorbed and a bully to women, not to mention a shameless womanizer, marrying five times. He drove his second wife, Jane’s mother, to suicide. Fonda—the outmoded liberal, the vital-center moderate who is too accepting of compromise—seems marooned on the far side of the 1960s. Nonetheless, I love his equanimity and his sober dignified maturity: a man with a mournful appreciation of the past and its costs, rather than a heedless orientation toward the future.

Henry Jaynes Fonda, according to astrotheme, was a Taurus sun and Libra moon. He was born in Grand Island, Nebraska, to the former Herberta Jaynes and William Brace Fonda, owner of a small printing company in Omaha. Initially, he was a short shy boy keenly interested in boys scouting; but avoided girls as much as he could. When he was 14, he and his father witnessed the brutal lynching of a black man named Will Brown from a nearby building during the Omaha race riot of 1919. This enraged the young Fonda and he kept a keen awareness of prejudice for the rest of his life. Towards the end of his school years he suddenly grew tall and handsome. His aim in life was to become journalist and he graduated from the Omaha Central High School in 1923. He attended the University of Minnesota, studying journalism while working in two jobs, as a physical-education instructor at a settlement house and as a troubleshooter for the telephone company. In his sophomore year, he later said, he was exhausted and returned home for a rest. While supporting himself with a series of unsatisfying jobs, he was persuaded by Dorothy Brando, a family friend and the mother of the future star Marlon Brando, to join the Omaha Community Playhouse, where Mr. Fonda acted, painted scenery, became assistant director - and resolved on his career. After two years at the playhouse, he decided to try his luck in New York - to no avail. He went on to Cape Cod, Massachusetts, where he joined the University Players, composed of college students, including future film stars James Stewart (who became his life-long friend) and Margaret Sullavan, who was to become Fonda's first wife. Over the next four summers and one winter season with the group, Mr. Fonda played a wide variety of leading roles, becoming a seasoned actor. His marriage to Sullavan ended in divorce in 1933. On Broadway, meanwhile, he got a walk-on part and bit roles in two short-lived plays, and he appeared in comedy skits in the 1934 hit revue ''New Faces.''
In the succeeding decade, the actor alternated easily between films and the theater. Fonda was a rising star in 1936 when he met beautiful but emotionally fragile New York socialite Frances Ford Seymour on the set of a British film, Wings Of The Morning, which he was making in England.
Frances Ford Seymour, Henry’s doomed second wife
After a whirlwind romance, Frances badgered Henry into getting married. Frances was the daughter of an American industrialist whose family claimed ancestry from Henry VIII’s third wife Jane Seymour – a fact that was reflected in Jane Fonda’s full name being Lady Jayne Seymour Fonda. Medical records revealed that Seymour was a victim of recurrent sexual abuse in her childhood. According to her daughter Jane, it was at the hands of her piano teacher. The abuse left Frances traumatized, and turned her into a promiscuous adolescent who had nine abortions before her first daughter Frances de Villers "Pan" Brokaw was born; Seymour’s first, much older husband, businessman George Brokaw, was a violent alcoholic who beat her savagely. A year after Brokaw died, Seymour married Henry Fonda. Their daughter Jane was born in 1937. Flighty and self-absorbed, Frances ignored her daughter, who she left to be brought up by nannies. Her father was no better, preferring to fly kites with his good friend, movie star Jimmy Stewart, than spend time with either one of his children. Frances was diagnosed with bipolar disorder after the birth of Peter in 1940. Discovering that her husband was cheating on her with other women, Frances went to desperate lengths to regain his attention. She would walk around naked in front of him and even crawl on her hands and knees to him, begging him to talk to her. It didn’t work. Terrified she was losing her looks, she would spend hours in her darkened bedroom, wearing a chin strap and eye pads to keep her skin youthful. She had plastic surgery long before it was commonplace.
In August 1949, Fonda announced to Frances that he wanted a divorce so he could marry his mistress Susan Blanchard; their 13 years of marriage had not been happy ones for him. Devastated, Frances spiraled into a mental breakdown and had repeated stays in psychiatric hospitals, sometimes being confined in a straitjacket. Rather than comfort a woman who was descending into madness, her husband’s main concern was for the damage it would cause to his career if word got out his wife was in a ‘loony bin’. When Frances was allowed home briefly from a psychiatric institution (shadowed by nurses because she was on suicide watch), she called out desperately for Jane. But the 12-year-old hid upstairs. Frances didn’t see her daughter that day, but she did manage to distract her nurses long enough to slip a tiny razor into her pocket. A week later, on her 42nd birthday in April 1950, she shut herself in a bathroom at the hospital and used the razor to kill herself by slashing her throat from ear to ear. Unperturbed, Henry Fonda performed on Broadway that night as usual. He didn’t even give their two children the farewell letters their mother had written them, and insisted that she had died of a heart attack. Her daughter Jane only learned the awful truth about her mother’s suicide months later when a fellow school pupil showed her a report in a film magazine. Her brother Peter didn’t know for years. By then, having been packed off to boarding school where she had nightmares every night about her dead mother, Jane wrote to her father about her terrors. Henry returned her letters with her grammatical errors highlighted in red ink, refusing ever to discuss the suicide. Later in that same year, Fonda married Blanchard.
He starred in comedies such as The Lady Eve with one of his favourite co-stars,  Barbara Stanwyck (who he had a lifelong crush on). In World War II, Fonda enlisted in the Navy as a seaman, rising to lieutenant and receiving a Bronze Star and Presidential citation for his work as an operations and air-combat intelligence officer in the Pacific. He starred in movies directed by John Ford, and their collaborations produced a number of classic films that established Fonda as a star. It was his role as the dispossessed farmer and ex-convict Tom Joad in The Grapes of Wrath (1940), an adaptation of John Steinbeck’s novel that earned Fonda particular praise and his first Academy Award nomination. After the war, Fonda took a break from movies and attended Hollywood parties and enjoyed civilian life. Stewart and Fonda would listen to records and invite Johnny Mercer, Hoagy Carmichael, Dinah Shore, and Nat King Cole over for music, with the latter giving the family piano lessons. In 1957 Fonda made his first foray into producing with 12 Angry Men, in which he also starred. Early on, the film drew poorly, but after gaining recognition and awards, it proved a success. During the 1960s, Fonda performed in a number of war and Western epics, including 1962's The Longest Day and the Cinerama production How the West Was Won. His third marriage, to Susan Blanchard, with whom he adopted his daughter Amy, ended in divorce, as did his fourth marriage, to Contessa Afdera Franchetti. His fifth wife was the former Shirlee Mae Adams.
Despite approaching his seventies, Fonda continued to work in theater, television and film through the 1970s. Hollywood first made its amends in April 1981, when it awarded him an honorary Oscar for career-long achievement. A year later Hollywood underscored its esteem by awarding him the Oscar for On Golden Pond. With 10 Academy Award nominations, the film earned nearly $120 million at the box office, becoming an unexpected blockbuster. In addition to wins for his co-star Katharine Hepburn (Best Actress), and Best Screenplay, On Golden Pond brought Fonda his only Oscar - for Best Actor (he was the oldest recipient of the award; it also earned him a Golden Globe Best Actor award). Fonda was by that point too ill to attend the ceremony, and his daughter Jane accepted on his behalf. Fonda died at his Los Angeles home on August 12, 1982, from heart disease. He was 77.
Next, I’ll cover an equally taciturn yet feisty Taurus: the famously cantankerous Katharine Hepburn.

Overall personality snapshot: The principles of justice and harmony featured strongly in all he did. He wanted to get to grips with ideas and translate his vision of Utopia into a realistic proposition, but probably discovered the necessity for compromise. This may have disillusioned him at first, but later will become central to the way he operated. Innately sociable and convivial, he was genuinely interested in other people and indeed needed large amounts of kindness and affection. He wanted the best for everyone but he made sure that he did not skimp on himself. He thrived in beautiful surroundings and in the company of elegant minds. An innately aesthetic person, and probably quite romantic as well, he brought a genuine warmth and lively concern to all social gatherings, which made him downright flirtatious sometimes. If he was an artist, he created works of art that were good enough to eat; if he became a chef, dishes that were works of art. Whatever he did, his creations will express his innate sense of harmony, beauty and style. A lively social conscience is another aspect of this combination, as well as an awareness of the importance of education in the healthy development of the individual and of society.
He was attracted to progressive ideas that assert the inalienable rights of every human being, and he accepted the paradoxical fact that everyone is different and yet the same. He believed in a society that respects both material needs and high moral values, and his social instinct and pragmatic perseverance may have taken him into social-welfare work or the political arena where he could express his power and idealism. He learned how to make others see the intelligence of his thinking by first listening to and valuing their thinking on the subject. But he probably had a diplomatic knack of making sure the substance of his view prevails. And he could really impress with the practicality of his approach: he economized with flair and used the resources to hand. Waste not, want not, he always said. He also knew that a happy, convivial, relaxed atmosphere was the most conducive to constructive communication and compromise. Conflict is anathema to his being and he employed his natural diplomatic skills to overcome antagonism in any setting – with the sheer force of his magnetic personality.
His body was neat and wiry, and he used neat and economical movements. His well-groomed appearance was mirrored in his cool and classic way of dressing, good posture, fine bone structure and animated expression. Physically, he possessed good stamina. He tended to look younger than he really was, all the way through into his later years. He was practical, steady and patient, but he could be inflexible in his views. One thing he did have was plenty of common sense and good powers of concentration, although he tended to think that purely abstract thought was a waste of time. His thought processes weren’t as quick as others, but his decisions were made with a lot of thought behind them. He loved to talk and to travel, so with his able to combine these two in her job as an author, he was happy. He needed to have a fair degree of variety and change within his job, and the aspect of travel may have satisfied this. In whatever job he would have done, he would always have been the perpetual student, as long as the subject was interesting enough. He was a person who wanted a first-class life-style, and who treasured his possessions. He needed to be able to feel materially secure, and he probably gained wealth through sheer industry, because he was patient, steady and confident in this area of his life. However, he may also have been a little too trusting when it came to money, presuming too easily that there is always more where it came from. His acquired wealth may be generously distributed, both on himself, for he was self-indulgent, and on others, because he was vulnerable to sob stories.
A rather complex person, he was artistic, creative, intuitive and compassionate. At times, he was his own worst enemy, because he tended to relive past errors over and over again, which gave him a negative outlook on life. He could be hypersensitive and moody, needing quiet and solitude. Although he had a basic fear of subjects he didn’t understand, they fascinated him nevertheless. He looked for a life partner who had similar ideals to him. He belonged to a generation with a rational and logical attitude to life, a time when scientific advances came to the fore. There was a conflict between tradition and convention, and the experimental and unconventional. As an individual, he learned to strike a balance between the erratic and the conventional. He had the ability to come up with original ideas which could be of practical value. He was part of an emotionally sensitive generation that was extremely conscious of the domestic environment and the atmosphere surrounding their home place and home country. In fact, he could be quite nostalgic about his homeland, religion and traditions, often seeing them in a romantic light. He felt a degree of escapism from everyday reality, and was very sensitive to the moods of those around him. Fonda embodied all of these Cancer Neptunian ideals, trying in vain for the rest of his life to please his moody, petty, vicious mother and live up to her expectations. As a Gemini Plutonian, he showed an enormous amount of mental vitality, originality and perception. Traditional customs and taboos were examined and rejected for newer and more original ways of doing things.
Love/sex life: The bad news first; he was one of the least subtle of the Scorpio Martian lovers and his attempts at using his sexuality as a means to dominate were likely to be clumsy, bombastic and, in the end, ineffective. His biggest problem is a lack of patience. For most people of this type, sex is a time-consuming activity in which erotic sensibilities are allowed to simmer slowly in a thick stew of emotional meaning and physical delight, but he was just too impulsive and too horny for such drawn out processes. He needed his pleasure now. Now the good news; he was one of the most active lovers of this type. He was not content to just sit back and observe passion. He went out, found it and made it his own. He liked challenges in his relationships—new experiences, aggressive partners and the spice of a good fight. This kept his sexual instincts sharp and helped him resist the temptation to sink into redundant sensuality. In a nutshell, he was the most alert, dynamic and courageous of all the lovers of this Martian type. So why should he have had to wait?
In 1949, when Fonda told his mentally fragile second wife Frances Ford Brokaw he wanted a divorce so he could marry his 20-year-old mistress, the devastated Brokaw spiraled into increasing mental instability and entered a psychiatric hospital for treatment. Four months later, at age 42, she committed suicide by slitting her throat with a stolen razor. Fonda refused to discuss her suicide with his children, who didn't learn the truth for years. The following year, at the age of 45, Fonda married Susan Blanchard, stepdaughter of theatrical producer Oscar Hammerstein II, who later became a producer herself. They adopted a daughter named Amy in 1953. Blanchard was in awe of Fonda, and she described her role in the marriage as "a geisha", doing everything she could to please him, dealing with and solving problems he would not acknowledge. But five years of marriage was enough for Blanchard. Italian baroness Afdera Franchetti became Fonda's fourth wife two years after his divorce from Blanchard. Audrey Hepburn introduced the two while she and Fonda were in Italy filming War and Peace. Franchetti and Fonda married in 1957 and divorced four years later in 1961. Fonda's final and most enduring marriage was to Shirlee Adams, a former flight attendant and model whom he married in 1965. She was at his side when he died. It seems Fonda had finally met his match and mellowed in the process.
minor asteroids and points:
North Node: Virgo
Lilith: Taurus
Vertex: Aquarius
Fortune: Aquarius
East Point: Virgo
His North Node in Virgo dictated that his tendency to dream and be disorganized needed to be tempered by developing more practical and down-to-earth attitudes. His Lilith in Taurus dictated that he was dangerously attracted to women who were unabashed sensualists. These women were earthy, smutty, and totally without apology for their perfectly natural needs. He fell for women whose gut instincts were impeccable, their libido formidable, and whose sexual life-forces operated above and beyond petty morality. His Vertex in Aquarius, 6th house dictated that he yearned for completion of himself through the highest ideal of friendship. Hidden in the inner recesses of his soul were desires for a union that would impact the world in an almost utopian sense. There was a yearning for each act of intimacy to reflect a conviction of how all relationships should be in order for the world to be a better place. There was no place for exhibitions of jealousy with him. If his lover joined him in his lofty dreams, they had a companion for life. He had an attitude of duty, obligation and sacrifice when it came to heartfelt interactions. He tended to become hypochondriacal or martyristic to get the love so desperately wanted. There was a need for others to appreciate the sincerity of his intentions, to the daily tasks he executed in a conscientious and caring way and for others to know that his actions, no matter how routine they may have seemed, were based on devoted love.
His Part of Fortune in Aquarius and Part of Spirit in Leo dictated that his destiny lay in opening his mind and experiencing unique and unconventional life experiences. Happiness and fulfillment came from following pursuits that were idealistic, innovative and unique. This was especially so where there was a humanitarian benefit to his efforts. His soul’s purpose asked him to take a prominent position in life as a leader of some sort. He felt spiritual connections and the spark of the divine when he stepped forward into the spotlight and performed. East Point in Virgo dictated that he was most likely to personally identify with the need to work and to be pragmatic. He needed early responsibilities (which were within his capabilities). He tended to feel guilty when not working, as if he should be contributing in some way. He was generally identified with his work (“I am what I do.”) and with a performance orientation. If carried too far, this led to excessive self-criticism. When done in moderation, he was simply very practical and realistic, usually worked hard and saw life and himself clearly.
elemental dominance:
earth
air
He was a practical, reliable man and could provide structure and protection. He was oriented toward practical experience and thought in terms of doing rather than thinking, feeling, or imagining. Could be materialistic, unimaginative, and resistant to change. But at his best, he provided the practical resources, analysis, and leadership to make dreams come true. He was communicative, quick and mentally agile, and he liked to stir things up. He was likely a havoc-seeker on some level. He was oriented more toward thinking than feeling. He carried information and the seeds of ideas. Out of balance, he lived in his head and could be insensitive to the feelings of others. But at his best, he helped others form connections in all spheres of their daily lives.
modality dominance:
fixed
He liked the challenge of managing existing routines with ever more efficiency, rather than starting new enterprises or finding new ways of doing things. He likely had trouble delegating duties and had a very hard time seeing other points of view; he tried to implement the human need to create stability and order in the wake of change.
house dominants:
8th
9th
10th
He loved the totality of the human experience and embraced the whole cycle of human life, including birth, sex and death. His darker side, and the complexes and emotions that he preferred to keep hidden, even from himself was a theme throughout his life. His ability to undergo deep personal transformations and spiritual regeneration was also highlighted. Traveling, whether physically across the globe, on a mental plane or expanding through study was a major theme in his life. He was not only concerned with learning facts, but also wanted to understand the connections formed between them and the philosophies and concepts they stand for. His conscience, as well as foreign travel, people and places was also of paramount importance in his life. His ambition in relation to the outside world, the identity he wished to achieve in regard to the community at large, and his career aspirations were all themes that were emphasized throughout his life. All matters outside the home, his public image and reputation were very important to his. His attitude to people in authority, and how he viewed the outside world, as well as the influence of his mother and his own attitude to her was highlighted.
planet dominants:
Mercury
Pluto
Venus
He was intelligent, mentally quick, and had excellent verbal acuity. He dealt in terms of logic and reasoning. It was likely that he was left-brained. He was restless, craved movement, newness, and the bright hope of undiscovered terrains. He brought about complete and profound transformations in his life, good or bad. He felt the need to let go of what was familiar to him and accept new and different ways of being and doing things. There were areas in his life where he had to accept regeneration, which involved the destruction of the old and the creation of the new. He was romantic, attractive and valued beauty, had an artistic instinct, and was sociable. He had an easy ability to create close personal relationships, for better or worse, and to form business partnerships.
sign dominants:
Taurus
Gemini
Virgo
His stubbornness and determination kept him around for the long haul on any project or endeavour. He was incredibly patient, singular in his pursuit of goals, and determined to attain what he wanted. Although he lacked versatility, he compensated for it by enduring whatever he had to in order to get what he wanted. He ventured out to see what else was there and seized upon new ideas that expanded his community. His innate curiosity kept him on the move. He used his rational, intellectual mind to explore and understand his personal world. He needed to answer the single burning question in his mind: why? This applied to most facets of his life, from the personal to the impersonal. This need to know sent him off to foreign countries, where his need to explore other cultures and traditions ranked high. He was changeable and often moody. This meant that he was often at odds with himself—the mind demanding one thing, the heart demanding the opposite. To someone else, this internal conflict often manifested as two very different people. He was a discriminating, attractive, thorough, scientific, hygienic, humane, scientific man and had the highest standards. His attention to detail was second to none and he had a deeply penetrative and investigative mind.
Read more about him under the cut:
This remarkable, soft-spoken American began in films as a diffident juvenile. With passing years, he matured into a star character actor who exemplified not only integrity and strength, but an ideal of the common man fighting against social injustice and oppression. Henry's father, William Brace Fonda, was a commercial printer, proprietor of the W. B. Fonda Printing Company in Omaha, Nebraska. His distant ancestors were Italians who had fled their country and moved to Holland, presumably because of political or religious persecution. In the mid-1600's, they crossed the Atlantic and settled in upstate New York where they founded a community with the Fonda name. Growing up, Henry developed an early interest in journalism after having a story published in a local newspaper. At the age of twelve, he helped in his father's printing business for $2 a week. Following graduation from high school in 1923, he got a part-time job in Minneapolis with the Northwestern Bell Telephone Company which allowed him at first to pursue journalistic studies at the University of Minnesota. As it became difficult to juggle his working hours with his academic roster, he obtained another position as a physical education instructor at $30 a week, including room and board. By this time, he had grown to a height of six foot one and was a natural for basketball. In 1925, having returned to Omaha, Henry reevaluated his options and came to the conclusion that journalism was not his forte, after all. For a while, he tried his hand at several temporary jobs, including as a mechanic and a window dresser. Then, despite opposition from his parents, Henry accepted an offer from Gregory Foley, director of the Omaha Playhouse, to play the title role in 'Merton of the Movies'. His father would not speak to him for a month. The play and its star received fairly good notices in the local press. It ran for a week, after which Henry observed "the idea of being Merton and not myself taught me that I could hide behind a mask". For the rest of the repertory season, Henry advanced to assistant director which enabled him to design and paint sets as well as act. A casual trip to New York, however, had already made him set his sights on Broadway. In 1928, he headed east and briefly played in summer stock before joining the University Players, a group of talented Princeton and Harvard graduates among whose number were such future luminaries as James Stewart (who would remain his closest lifelong friend), Joshua Logan and Kent Smith. Before long, Henry played leads opposite Margaret Sullavan, soon to become the first of his five wives. Both marriage and the players broke up four years later. In 1932, Henry found himself sharing a two-room New York apartment with Jimmy Stewart and Joshua Logan. For the next two years, he alternated scenic design with acting at various repertory companies. In 1934, he got a break of sorts, when he was given the chance to present a comedy sketch with Imogene Coca in the Broadway revue New Faces. That year, he also hired Leland Hayward as his personal management agent and this was to pay off handsomely. It was Hayward who persuaded the 29-year old to become a motion picture actor, despite initial misgivings and reluctance on Henry's part. Independent producer Walter Wanger, whose growing stock company was birthed at United Artists, needed a star for The Farmer Takes a Wife (1935). With both first choice actors Gary Cooper and Joel McCrea otherwise engaged, Henry was the next available option. After all, he had just completed a successful run on Broadway in the stage version. The cheesy publicity tag line for the picture was "you'll be fonder of Fonda", but the film was an undeniable hit. Wanger, realizing he had a good thing going, next cast Henry in a succession of A-grade pictures which capitalized on his image as the sincere, unaffected country boy. Pick of the bunch were the Technicolor outdoor western The Trail of the Lonesome Pine (1936), the gritty Depression-era drama You Only Live Once (1937) (with Henry as a back-to-the-wall good guy forced into becoming a fugitive from the law by circumstance), the screwball comedy The Moon's Our Home (1936) (with ex-wife Sullavan), the excellent pre-civil war-era romantic drama Jezebel (1938) and the equally superb Young Mr. Lincoln (1939), in which Henry gave his best screen performance to date as the 'jackleg lawyer from Springfield'. Henry made two more films with director John Ford: the pioneering drama Drums Along the Mohawk (1939) and The Grapes of Wrath (1940), with Henry as Tom Joad, often regarded his career-defining role as the archetypal grassroots American trying to stand up against oppression. It also set the tone for his subsequent career. Whether he played a lawman (Wyatt Earp in My Darling Clementine (1946)), a reluctant posse member (The Ox-Bow Incident (1942), a juror committed to the ideal of total justice in (12 Angry Men (1957)) or a nightclub musician wrongly accused of murder (The Wrong Man (1956)), his characters were alike in projecting integrity and quiet authority. In this vein, he also gave a totally convincing (though historically inaccurate) portrayal in the titular role of The Return of Frank James (1940), a rare example of a sequel improving upon the original. Henry rarely featured in comedy, except for a couple of good turns opposite Barbara Stanwyck -- with whom he shared an excellent on-screen chemistry -- in The Mad Miss Manton (1938) and The Lady Eve (1941). He was also good value as a poker-playing grifter in the western comedy A Big Hand for the Little Lady (1966). Finally, just to confound those who would typecast him, he gave a chilling performance as one of the coldest, meanest stone killers ever to roam the West, in Sergio Leone's classic Once Upon a Time in the West (1968). Illness curtailed his work in the 1970s. His final screen role was as an octogenarian in On Golden Pond (1981), in which he was joined by his daughter Jane. It finally won him an Oscar on the heels of an earlier Honorary Academy Award. Too ill to attend the ceremony, he died soon after at the age of 77, having left a lasting legacy matched by few of his peers. (x)

Okay so here are some tidbits from my headcanon doc. Bit long but still!
FAMILY
Sheva’s biological parents' names were Taraji and Kiango. Her mother was estranged from her brother, Kumar ( Sheva’s uncle ) long before their deaths due to his tendency to put money before his family. He was a gambler, con man, and cheat and could rarely be relied on for anything that didn’t guarantee he would get something out of it.
Kumar discovered Sheva cowering in her home after the security breach at the Umbrella plant that both of her parents worked at. She had waited there for them for days, but neither her mother or father ever returned to her. Kumar, having thought that his extended family and sister had died, only came to the residence in order to take what was left as his own. He had thought about leaving her there, but thought that if he took her in, he would be entitled to some sort of financial compensation given the amount of children he had of his own. This never happened. He had been unable to properly feed his children to begin with due to his nasty gambling habits, but with the crisis surrounding the area, it only grew worse. Kumar fed Sheva the least, his own children, who were indifferent to her, taking priority over her health.
She was often either treated as a maid or a burden or both.
This resulted in her eventually deciding she’d rather take her chances on her own and ran away from her uncle’s. Kumar never showed any interest in finding her.
Sheva was rescued by the guerillas and taken at first as someone to take care of laundry or cooking, but was soon used as a child soldier for covert, undercover missions.
During Adam Benford’s stint as an intelligence officer, he encountered Sheva in West Africa a long while after laboratory 57’s accident. She was fifteen years old by the time of her evacuation to the USA in return for the betrayal of her now power-hungry group. This was upon Adam Benford’s suggestion and eventually became her legal guardian as well. Due to his own occupation before becoming vice president, in addition to the radicalization she underwent with her time with the guerillas, it was no wonder that she followed in his footsteps to some degree.
Initially, Sheva had a difficult time feeling a sense of belonging with him and in a new country. Adam did his best to make her feel comfortable and didn’t push the idea of adoption onto Sheva, but allowed her the option if she so chose. Wanting to be prepared in the event that she said yes, he signed himself up for pre-adoption training and several resources prior to the process in hopes to be a better support for her. As they tried to find their footing, Sheva primarily remained out of the  public eye while she studied. It wasn’t until Adam expressed his interest in entering office, and his parental relationship with Sheva seemed to begin to bloom and she agreed to legally become a part of his family, did he begin to attempt to integrate her totally into the social life that was now mandatory from him to build.
Sheva had also grown closer to her caregiver and several security personnel hired to watch over her. The woman in charge of assisting her with her day to day activities since her initial arrival, Jillian Bree,  became something like an aunt to her. She confided in regularly and very rarely withheld anything from. Jillian often always had some wild story to tell her about her college days that would end in a wink and a sly “ but, don’t do anything I wouldn’t do.” Jillian was a no-nonsense woman and brimmed with confidence and assisted Sheva in coming out of her shell.
Jillian and Adam had a suspicious amount of tension between the two of them that never once dissipated. Nothing–at least not official–ever came of it for unknown reasons.
After Adam’s death, Jillian speculated to Sheva that Adam’s intention from the beginning of running for office was to do something that would have put a target on his back even more so than just being a world leader, hence his reluctance to solidify their relationship despite what they had between the two of them.
As Adam’s schedule grew more cluttered, Sheva saw less and less of him. Only their routine archery lessons they took together were nearly always guaranteed, but she cherished them and looked forward to it the way a kid would look forwards to entering a candy store.
EDUCATION
Sheva could be considered an individual of genius level intellect as she was able to learn English at native level under six months. With her instructor being a foreigner from England, her own accent was influenced by her teacher’s.
She attended an all girl’s private high school, not so different in terms of quality from the school she attended in Africa.
She was admitted to Yale at the age of seventeen years old and graduated with honors. The Ivy League institution had eyes on her since fifteen, however.
She double majored in Strategic Intelligence and Computer information sciences.

There are so many new issues here and there. I think the best soulmates are only friends. I think I have broken more hearts. In order for any soulmate relationship to work, it needs to be based upon more than just your birthday month. In March 2013, the number of unique users visiting YouTube every month reached 1 billion. In 2006, Time Magazine featured a YouTube screen with a large mirror as its annual 'Time Person Of The Year'. Below are some of the reasons that large cities like Detroit, Atlanta and Houston bottomed out in the study. Bounce Out With That"". If you and your crush are vibing, you could ask them to do something with you - like seeing a movie, studying together, going to a game or concert, etc. You can also try to go out with a group of friends, instead of a one-on-one date. I have no game. While it is said that opposites attract, it seems that lately just about everyone in your orbit seems to have nothing in common with you at all.
Indonesians say buah hatiku (“fruit of my heart”), while Italians can be a fragolina (“little strawberry”). The feelings related to being in love can directly be attributed to our biological makeup. killshot anon! YEAH i totally agree w/ your view on kaeya. it's so weird to me that people will blame him for his role in a situation he was forced into as a child through no choice of his own. that itself had to be traumatic, not to mention everything that happened later. i hate when people say he's untrustworthy - like yeah, he's lied, so has everyone? it's clear he does it mostly to protect himself. not to mention that (& sadism) can be symptoms of trauma. kaeya deserves nothing but happiness
take a seat folks it’s time for a “brynn should’ve been an english major” lesson! today we’re gonna learn some literary theory; specifically, we’re gonna apply psychoanalytical trauma theory to kaeya’s backstory and current character. killshot anon i bet you never thought this would result in a whole ass essay.
disclaimer one! you are allowed to dislike kaeya! i am not saying you need to like him or his character, you’re entitled to your opinion and i’m not here to change your mind.
disclaimer two! i am in no way an expert and this is all for fun! this is just my silly little analysis of one of my favorite characters as someone who’s studied literary theory and rhetoric and can also apply personal experience. seriously analysis is like a hobby to me and this is just an excuse for me to ramble about kaeya.
disclaimer three! this contains lots of spoilers! basically for everything we know in-game, general knowledge as well as stuff from his voicelines and character story. don’t read this if you don’t want spoilers.
since this is going to be filled with spoilers and is about to get really long, everything will be under a cut. for those who wanna read my dumb super informal essay: enjoy!
final note: yeah this is over 2000 words long can you tell i like analysis
let’s start by getting a quick rundown of trauma theory out of the way. to begin, what is “trauma?” in this case, trauma is going to refer to an experience that greatly affects and changes one’s life; attitudes, memories, behaviors, mental state, etc. while not all changes may be bad, per se, the overall effect of trauma is generally a negative one, which is why it’s so significant. literary trauma theory, then, explores these changes and the impact of trauma in literature. it analyzes the psychological and social effects of trauma, explaining what those effects are and why they happen. in the context of a specific character, trauma theory breaks down said character’s behaviors, feelings, and general mentality in relation to their past experiences; trauma theory hopes to explain to others the reasons for why a character may act or feel the way they do, all based upon the character’s experiences, particularly traumatic ones. our character today is the lovely kaeya alberich, with the “literature” being genshin impact. i’ll be referencing kaeya’s wiki page to ensure i get all details correct for his character story and voicelines.
it would be good to review kaeya’s backstory before delving into the actual analysis. though we don’t know much about his life before living in mondstadt, we’re told he was sent as an agent of khaenri’ah. and by “sent,” i mean his biological father abandoned him in a completely unfamiliar land to serve khaenri’ah’s interests and fullfil his mission—what this entirely entails hasn’t been revealed. mondstadt, however, welcomed kaeya “with open arms when they found him.” crepus ragnvindr took him in as his adopted son, with diluc as his adopted brother. kaeya and diluc were “almost like twins,” so close they “[knew] each other’s thoughts and intentions without a word.” he’d began a new life in mondstadt, one surrounded by friends and family that loved him; one that was completely shattered by crepus’s death. kaeya arrived at the scene of the disaster, and was led to believe diluc was the one who killed their father to “set his father free” from the effects of his delusion. there’d always been one big question in kaeya’s life: if it came down to it, who would he support? the nation that abandoned him, but he still felt loyal to, or the nation and family that took him in and really loved him? overrun with guilt, kaeya confessed his purpose to diluc, sparking a fight between the two brothers. in this fight, kaeya receives his cryo vision. though both brothers stepped away alive, they’ve never been able to make peace with one another. now, kaeya is the eccentric and charming cavalry captain of the knights of favonius; a man who gets his way by using any means necessary, regardless of whether or not it seems right.
kaeya’s not evil; he’s morally ambiguous, and that stems from what appears to be a general distrust of others. his life is one shrouded in secrecy. from the moment he stepped foot into mondstadt, he was surrounded by secrets. even now, he doesn’t talk about a lot of things, namely his past, vision, and feelings. though he’s always willing to get information out of others, kaeya never reveals anything about himself. he repeatedly tells the player they can confide in him, but whenever you try and pry into his life, he deflects your questions with some sort of witty comment or flirty remark. anything he does reveal is vague, or spoken in some sort of “code.” for example, his “interesting things” voiceline. he tells us about the owl of dragonspine, how it “seems to look right through you, while letting go of none of its own secrets,” and then tacks on a “quite fascinating, don’t you think?” it seems like an awfully accurate parallel to himself; kaeya does all he can to get information from others, but never gives anything about himself. now, this whole thing—his relationship with diluc falling apart and his need for secrecy—could have probably been avoided if he had just come clean about his mission years ago. so why didn’t he? to start, kaeya was a literal child. not only are children unable to properly tell the difference between right and wrong, but they’ll also typically follow their parents’ orders blindly. kaeya had just been abandoned, and he wouldn’t want to risk being cast out by mondstadt as well if he came clean right away. you see, there’s this thing about trauma, something that trauma theory states. traumatized people feel a sort of shame or guilt regarding their traumatic experience; they’ll keep quiet because they don’t want to cause problems or bother others with their issues. of course kaeya wouldn’t tell the truth about his past, he doesn’t want to destroy the genuinely loving relationships he’d built in mondstadt. his fight with diluc only proves what he was afraid of: if he’s honest, he’ll be abandoned again. and if kaeya’s used to all the lies, why should he bother changing?
another thing, if he’s not going to tell the truth, then why would he have initially gone along with his father’s plans? again, he was a child. he really had no choice, and was forced into a very wrong and cruel situation. there’s a good explanation for this, too, which is also stated in trauma theory; traumatized people will still do their best to please their abusers. especially if said abuser is a parent, that will drive traumatized people to work even harder to please them. although his father hurt him by ruthlessly abandoning him, kaeya still sought to make him and his homeland proud. he was willing to be used as a tool for their gain; that is, until he found people who actually cared about him. he was an impressionable child, of course he’s going to obey orders. but as he gets older, he feels torn. does he serve those who abandoned him, or those that took him in? his father—and arguably, khaenri’ah as a whole—hurt him, sure, but he still feels some loyalty and connection to his former home. instead of revealing anything, he lets the situation play out. that way, he can’t be blamed when things fall apart.
the thing about claiming he’s untrustworthy is that hardly anyone in-game believes that. he’s adored by the older folks in mondstadt, and foes and allies alike find him easy to talk to. despite seeming lazy and uninterested in work, kaeya takes his job very seriously. in fact, his story states that crepus’s death was the “first and only time kaeya failed in his duty.” the “only time” is especially important, because it signifies kaeya still fulfills his duties successfully. he’s had a total of one slip-up, and hasn’t failed since. no, kaeya is not untrustworthy. rather, kaeya finds everyone else untrustworthy. it’s not unlikely that this is a direct consequence of being abandoned as a child. although it’s been established that kaeya and diluc were very close as children, when crepus dies, kaeya assumes diluc is the one that killed him. in order to jump to such an extreme conclusion against someone he was so close to, there had to be some underlying sense of distrust. furthermore, kaeya expresses feeling as though he doesn’t belong anywhere. he was abandoned by khaenri’ah, and then worried he wouldn’t be accepted by mondstadt. he is, but there’s still that worry. if you place him in your teapot as a companion, he tells you that your home feels like someplace he belongs, following it up with a “heh, who’d have thought…” kaeya still feels as though he doesn’t belong in mondstadt; despite the fact that he’s a high-ranking knight of favonius and rather popular, he still feels like an outsider. he doesn’t trust that anyone actually wants him around, and he finds joy in testing peoples’ trustworthiness. it’s noted in his story and through his voicelines that the beloved cavalry captain has a rather sadistic nature. he likes putting people into difficult situations, to see what decisions they will make. he does this to both opponents and allies, testing to see who’s going to back out and who’ll keep fighting; in the sake of allies, who can he trust? or who will turn tail and abandon their teammates at the slightest hint of danger? i mentioned it previously, but kaeya doesn’t care what measures he has to take so long as his job gets done and he gets the answers he wants. it’s a sort of self-preserving mindset, putting himself above the safety of others. kaeya’s trying to protect himself, which makes sense with all he’s been through. he doesn’t want to be hurt, and instead finds pleasure in threatening harm upon others. it’s twisted, sure, but it’s because he can only trust himself in a world that he believes is out to get him. he’s got as many enemies—if not more—as he does allies; of course kaeya focuses on protecting himself first, whether physically or through keeping his secrets, well, secret.
his most obvious traumatic effect is definitely his alcoholism. but he uses it as a distraction, not just to wallow in self-pity. this is seen again in his story, particularly in story 3. it’s found that when his favorite drink, death after noon, is out of season, mondstadt’s crime rate is decreased drastically. at face value, this just means kaeya spends more time working when death after noon is low in supply. but kaeya doesn’t skip work to go to taverns; it’s already been established he takes his job very seriously, so this means he actually patrols and tracks down threats while off work when he can’t indulge in his favorite alcoholic drink. he doesn’t get drunk simply because he’s depressed. if he did, there wouldn’t be a drop in incidents when death after noon is out of season. no, kaeya uses both the alcohol and fighting to distract himself. after all, it’s a little hard to think about feeling sad when you’re either drunk out of your mind or fighting for your life.
despite being so secretive, kaeya gives us glimpses of his true emotions from time to time. as previously mentioned, his flirty attitude is nothing more than a mask to hide how he really feels; and kaeya is terribly, terribly lonely. that may be why he seems so extroverted. constantly being around people should, logically, drive away that feeling, but it doesn’t work like that. when he talks with the player, he frequently expresses disappointment when you have to leave. each time, though, he dampens the weight of his words with playful or flirty language. he’s lonely, but doesn’t want you to know that, like he’s afraid of asking you to stay. he takes the seriousness of his feelings, and basically bends it into some sort of lighthearted joke. kaeya hides his true feelings—negative feelings, to be exact—so that he doesn’t bother anyone. which is, again, something that happens with traumatized people. he displays that hesitance to reveal his true feelings, because there’s a shame or guilt that comes with his past. he doesn’t want to bother others or hold them back, so he puts on a smile and amps up the charisma. one other very important thing—but very small detail—i would like to note is his feelings toward family. his fell apart not even once, but twice, and kaeya still holds familial relationships in high regard. we know he doesn’t exactly care how he goes about getting his work done. he doesn’t pay attention to what’s “right” or “wrong,” so long as he gets what he needs. but one of his informants, vile, notes that the cavalry captain has one exception: he won’t work with those who threaten others’ families. in fact, kaeya claims those who do should be hunted down and destroyed. even though his own families have caused him so much pain—and he ended up estranged from both—he still understands the importance of having people who love you in your life. because he didn’t get that.
kaeya’s not evil. ultimately, as a knight of favonius, his goal is to protect others, because no one was there to protect him. and because no one was there to protect him, because he’s been hurt time and time again by people who were supposed to love him, kaeya has taken to protecting himself. he hides any and all negative feelings with a charismatic, friendly façade, because he thinks it’ll drive away his persistent loneliness. any “bad” actions of his were hardly his fault; he was forced into a life of secrecy and lies, and then abandoned by the first people who truly loved him. kaeya’s a multi-faceted, tragic character, one that toes the line between good and evil, and that’s what makes him so interesting.

Billy’s Doppelganger: A Back Door Into Understanding Stranger Things
Tumblr media
The subject of Billy's doppelganger is a complicated one. I’ve already broached it briefly, but I could still talk about soooo many things. It's hard to know where to start!
I call his doppelganger a “back door” into understanding ST because it became exactly that for me. The symbolic, narrative, and thematic implications of the concept are so astounding - and far-reaching - that I’ve been able to identify a coherent theme in character relationships. I’ve even figured out three major rivalries that will develop toward the climax of the show. (I say “will” because I’m fairly certain about them. The writers could still surprise me by veering off course, but it would be an unpleasant surprise. They’ve set up these rivalries so well that they’d be fools not to follow through :p)
In this post, I’ll explain the implications of Billy’s doppelganger in regards to other character relationships. In future posts I’ll dig into the three future rivalries it points to.
To me, it's pretty damn obvious the Duffers are building their story on the foundation of multiverse theory. They reference it right out of the gate in S1, using it to explain the existence of the Upside Down. What they leave unspoken (but anyone who knows multiverse theory will understand) is that the existence of parallel universes implies the existence of parallel selves. When Billy flashes into the Upside Down and encounters another "self" (even if it's just the Mind Flayer in disguise), that tells us the Duffers are going to play with this core aspect of multiverse theory.
As far as characters go, Billy is the natural first choice to encounter his alternate self. He's been looking in mirrors, which are symbols for other universes or selves, this whole time. He even looks in a mirror right before his car crash at the steel mill - i.e., the moment he’s transported into another universe.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(^ This isn’t just vanity. It’s deeply symbolic! Note, too, that he’s facing his literal reflection in the phone booth!)
When Billy meets his doppelganger, he's meeting a walking, talking reflection of himself... and something's desperately wrong with it.
But he’s not the only character to meet his dark reflection in S3. He’s just the first.
Tumblr media
The Duffers chose a Heather who looks like an older Millie for a reason. Heather is El's upside-down reflection - a warning of what could happen to El if the Mind Flayer had his way. By the time they meet in the Holloways' dining room (with a big-ass mirror on the wall, I might add), Heather has become a china doll drained of will and personality. El is looking in the mirror and seeing something terrible.
Tumblr media
(^ The mirror on the wall! Which, btw, also symbolizes El’s relationship with Billy, because they’re reflections of each other. I’ll write a series on that eventually.)
It’s also noteworthy that, while El is practically an orphan, Heather still has both her parents. She has the “happy family” that El has always dreamed of. The show points this out by bringing El face-to-face with the Holloways’ family portrait.
Tumblr media
El recognizes herself in Heather. For all of episode 3, her biggest drive is to save Heather from the Mind Flayer’s clutches. This echoes El’s need to save herself. (Or to save her “shadow,” to put it in Jungian terms.)
Hopper meets his reflection too. Grigori the Russian is everything Hopper hates (since, as a Vietnam vet, Hopper no doubt has strong opinions about Communism). Yet Grigori is much like Hopper himself: a big, burly brute with military training, single-minded and aggressive in the pursuit of his goals. It's no coincidence Hopper ends up shooting Grigori in a hall of mirrors. Hopper is trying to put down his dark reflection.
This echoes Hopper’s central wound: he hates himself for failing his daughter Sara. He doesn’t want to save his shadow, like El does; he’d rather destroy it.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
(^ Some of the eyebrow-raising cinematography used for Hopper and Grigori. Very mirror-like, wouldn’t you say? Also note the literal hall of mirrors.)
Not all reflections are bad, though. The season revolves around the meeting of Billy and El, who mirror each other in crucial ways. To describe it briefly, they...
have abusive fathers (biological for Billy, symbolic for El);
miss their absent mothers;
have "adopted" sisters (Max for Billy, Kali for El);
struggle with a deep core of anger from the abuses they've suffered; and
are viscerally connected with the Upside Down.
This ends up being a good thing, because their mutual understanding helps Billy throw off the Mind Flayer’s chains at Starcourt.
Tumblr media
(^ Some of the Billy/El mirror symbolism and parallels that come through in the cinematography.)
I believe the Duffers are playing with the idea of reflections of the self - good, bad, and neutral.
You can probably look at all sorts of character pairings and find this principle at work. Murray and Alexei, for instance (dark-haired, wiry, and nerdy looking; enemies at first, but eventually cackling together in the backseat of a car). I haven’t done a thorough study of character pairings yet, but I have identified three of great interest to me.
In my next post, I’ll address the one I find most intriguing: Billy vs Eddie Munson.

Genshin Family Headcannons
I've had these Genshin Family Headcannons floating around in my brain for god knows how long now, so I think it's about time I posted them!
Tumblr media
On to the details~
Zhongli & Baizhu dated for a while, and after they broke up Baizhu ended up adopting Qiqi. Zhongli did not know this, and nearly had a heart attack thinking that through some insane miracle Qiqi was his biological child and he was late on YEARS of child support.
Zhongli & Ninnguang are siblings. Not Biological, but Ningguang doesn't know that, so he doesn't say anything. My idea is that Zhongli hasn't been using his gnosis for a while, like multiple decades, but he would shift forms. He tried to be a teenager for a while during his mid-archon-crisis, and ended up getting adopted by Ningguang's parents. She was born not long after, so she always saw him as her older brother. After a few years of this, he accepted he couldn't play make believe like this forever, and disappeared one night. Little did he know, his aura was keeping Ningguang's family out of debt, and after he left it all fell to ruin. Ningguang then grew up, spending the rest of her life wondering what happened to her brother & missing him.
Before all that, Zhongli did raise, and is still raising, Xiao and Ganyu. During that time, they were both mentoring under other adepti. They see him as their dad, and have forever. Zhongli recently ended up kind of half adopting Hu Tao, but she doesn't know all of the details of them being adepti & an Archon, but she's just happy to have a family.
Xiao has recently started dating Aether, which was supposed to be his little rebellion at Zhongli for dating Childe, as Xiao hates Childe, but Zhongli is very proud of Xiao and Aether. Though his planned back fired, Xiao is truly happy to be with Aether.
Hu Tao has been dating Yanfei, and while they are happy together, as well as work well as business partners, Zhongli's back is going to go out early if he has to keep supervising the two pyro loverbirds. They have so much energy, and just run him ragged when they are handling a job.
Beidou ended up pretty much completely adopting Kazuha, as he has been on the run a while now, and while she was working with him/the resistance, they both just felt connected like family.
Part of the reason that Kazuha sees Beidou as a mom is because his disapeared a long time ago with is younger brother. He was happy they escaped, but he hadn't heard anything about his brother since, which made him scared.
Thoma, on the other hand, was actually adopted by Beidou. His parents left him in Ritou to suffer, and though Beidou wasn't able to take him with her to be a sailor, she was able to get him set up with Ayaka's family.
Yoimiya is the only blood family he knows of, and her family immediately took him in around age 16 when they found out what his parents did. He continued to work under Ayaka despite them suggesting he learn the fire work trade.
Little does he know, but Razor is Kazuha's brother. Their mom didn't end up making it, as she became fatally ill during the journey from Inazuma to Liyue. She was rushed to Bubu Pharmacy, but it was too late, and she sadly passed away while being treated there. Razor was supposed to be sent to Mondstat to become a knight of Favonious, but the wagon transporting him was taken down by Hillichurls, and then he was found by his Lupical.
Lisa regularly goes into the woods to study, and that's when she ran into Razor and began visiting him to teach him how to speak, to which she sort of became him mom.
Jean technically has no kids, but had ended up raising Klee, Albedo, and Barbara. Klee had been with Albedo pretty much since she was born, as Albedo would take care of them both with Alice coming to check in here and there. But after an experiment gone wrong, Albedo was badly hurt, and carried a small, crying Klee all the way to Mondstat. Once he got there, he was lucky that Jean, Lisa, and Diluc were all having dinner at Good Hunter. They rushed over to him, Jean in the lead, and he handed Klee to her before collapsing on the ground. They brought him to the cathedral where he was healed, and once he was recovering he was taken to the Knights head quarters for questioning. After that, they figured it was better for Klee to be in the Knight's direct care, and Albedo could work with them. Jean ended up becoming quite the mother to the two of them.
As for Barbara, she simply always took care of her. Though they aren't that far apart in age, Jean still always took on a parental role for her.
What Alice forgot to mention, was that she actually has a sister. Said sister is in fact, Mona's mom, and when she saw Mona having magical potential like Alice, she sent her to study under her current Master, Alice's rival. Without knowing it, Mona and Klee are cousins.
Diona was finally able to get over her anger towards Diluc, as she eventually got so fed up with him that she went to Angel's Share just to yell at him. But when she got there, she realized he wasn't drinking alcohol. After sitting her down and talking to her for a while, Diona was finally able to understand Diluc. She started crying, and Diluc sat with her while she did, before she eventually started to fall asleep, so he carried her on his back to the Cat's Tail. When he got there he saw her dad and went to deliver Diona to him but realized just how drunk he was. Diluc then set Diona down on a chair while he went to confront her dad, which lead to a massive yelling match. Diluc realized just how neglectful her dad really was, and had him arrested the next day. He was then charged with Neglect, and has since been cast out of Mondstat for an unknown amount of time as his sentence, as well as not being allowed custody of Diona. The Cat's Tail was closed for a while before another bartender took it up and renamed it. Diona moved in with Diluc and he now raises her on his own. She sees him like a hero and the father she always wanted, but he never asks her to call him "dad" or "father" but instead asks her to call him "Pa" or "Vati" (the german translation of dad.)
Diluc and Venti have also been in a long term relationship for many years. Diluc asks Venti not to drink around Diona, as it still makes her uncomfortable despite being his apprentice. Venti respects this and often will "buy" his drinks from Diluc and make his way over to the old Cat's Tail and drink there instead, or he will just stay at Angel's Share if Diona isn't there/is in bed. The two of them have been dating for nearly 8 years, but aren't married. Everyone always asks why not, but they just don't see the point. Venti is very independent, and Diluc constantly has responsibilities, they don't want their life to be 50/50 but rather they both do what they love and enjoy one and others company while doing so, without labels.
And that's a wrap! I could probably write out exactly how each of these came to be in more detail, but this is quite long as it stands. I hope you all enjoyed!

Prompt: remus and lily as siblings or half siblings or biological family in any capacity pls 🥺
Oh God!!! Baby!!!🥺🥺😭 This is such a favorite AU of mine!! I’m literally— sorta— writing a To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before AU right now and they are the bestest siblings in that!!!  They share a little sister and they are just so cute!! And Petunia is conveniently off in university oaiwefjoiaswejfiogreghoij And I just love Remus and Lily both so much it hurts!!! And so I wanna spit out a bullet point Ficlet at you! And I’m not even sorry just because I love you so endlessly for tossing this into my inbox foiwaeifmkaeoirfgjieoarujoidkioweajgh
So like in my head, becs that Voldy bitch doesn’t know how to actually world build, the Muggle born children who get their Hogwarts letters, are also invited to join this like support group for ordinary folks with magical children. It’s like a thing that’s held in the Ministry of magic over in London once a month, and the parents are taught about the Wizarding world while their children kind of go to this separate room to intermingle and read Hogwarts; A History with one another, and just vibe, because pure bloods and those close to that have always sorta known one another and such, so this is a nice way for the Muggle borns not to feel so excluded.
So the thing is, obviously Lyall was a wizard, but also we all know I don’t fuck with him lmfao. So I picture that after he leaves for the final time when Remus is around nine, and finalizes the  divorce with Hope, she— being the bad bitch that she is, just marches to the ministry with her half-blood, werewolf son, and demands to learn everything about the world he’s part of, because she refuses to let him be deprived of anything.
Eventually she becomes one of the tutors for the adult section because she’s such a quick study— being a professor herself back in Cardiff and just being an all around bombshell tbh. So one day, in February of 1970, there’s this ginger haired, northerner who stumbles in with his daughter who looks so much like him that it’s crazy— dimples and smile and upturned nose. Though she has her mother’s eyes, who had past away when she was only seven from a freak car accident.
And when he first shake’s Hope’s hand, he’s like kind of mind boggled over how beautiful she is, and thinks that maybe all wizards just put on some sort of charm to look unearthly, till he finds out that she’s as Muggle as he is towards the end of his visit. And he is just entirely love struck tbh.
And for the next couple months or so, he kind of just yearns from afar, and then spends the ride home to Cokeworth listening to Lily’s excited chortling about her friend Remus who’s apparently a half blood and who likes the same treats as her and knows how to draw things so amazingly, and it isn’t until like May, when he ambles to the other room and realizes that Remus is actually Hope’s fucking son, and he already knows that she said she began this group after separating from her husband who was a wizard himself. So Lily’s father— Nate— quite literally just shoots his shot and asks if Lily would like to get ice cream with her new friend since Petunia won’t be coming back from there Grams’s house till late, and Hope sorta smirks from over the kids’ heads because she sees exactly what he’s doing and is impressed that he’s finally done something for fuck’s sake.
And like obviously they fall hard for one another, and they probs get married like Lily’s second year at Hogwarts.
Wait, just Lily’s you ask??
Yes my beautiful duckling,  because plot twist!! (We lovee plot twists!!!)
In this AU i picture that McGonagall kind of visits during the summer months leading up to the children’s first year at Hogwarts, just to give them some supplementary readings and answer the questions for their future schooling, and when Dumbledore tells her about Remus’s full situation with his lycanthropy and all, she does some research, and figures out how Beauxbatons is much, MUCH more accommodating to “dark” creatures, and she’s already pretty chummy with Hope and knows that she’s actually a French citizen herself, the daughter of Algerian immigrants. So Remus technically has the possibility to attend Hogwarts or Beauxbatons, and so Hope and Remus talk on it long and hard, and she knows he’s already become fast friends with Lily and their thick as thieves with one another, but it’s also just so much safer for him.
So the week before Lily is set to go off to King’s Cross, they fly over to France and they get Remus settled in his dorm abroad.
I think while they’re away, Lily and Remus actually somehow become closer, because their parents are still dutifully dating and neither of them are all that familiar with their surroundings, so they send one another so many fucking letters through that first term, that the owls of their schools always give them the dirtiest looks lmfao. And they really catch on like a house on fire, like it’s one of those relationships that is just innate? Like you know when you have a best friend you guys kind of just slip into one another lives? Like even when you don’t talk for a while or whatever, it’s just natural<3 <3
So neither of them ever spend the hols of winter or spring in Hogwarts/Beauxbatons, becs that’s when they really get to vibe.
They tell one another the different cool charms they’ve learned, and hate that they can’t show them with their actual wands yet. And they watch all their favorite films and almost adopt this secret language that’s only the quirk of their brows and twitch of the lips, and Petunia hates how freakily attuned they are with one another and sneers at them for being such freaks in all aspects. Also in this AU Lily fucks off from Snape wayyyy sooner, because instead of having to deal with that nasty, bigoted, slime ball she has the cutest and funniest and most amazing bestie in Remus!
And before Hope and Nate exchange vows in the winter of their second year, the little family of five go to this tiny park that’s all lush grassland and a shiny jungle gym and a pair of swings tucked away by trees, and they sit at this picnic table, and Hope— with her steady, ever buoyant voice, explains to them why she and Remus decided to send him to Beauxbatons instead of Hogwarts, and Petunia is like gawking in fright, and Nate looks sort of distressed, but Lily just cocks her head and shrugs her shoulders, because it’s still Remus— her closest companion Rem— and nothing could change that. So she takes his hand from where it’s fiddling with a splintered piece of wood on the tabletop and she squeezes it tightly, watches him glance up at her with the late summer wind billowing in his tawny curls and the fear in his honey eyes, and she simply tells him that it doesn’t matter. And Lily will never forget the way his features spasm at that, going suddenly loose and bright and thankful, and then Nate probably tousles his hair and kisses Hope’s temple and shyly asks how they should accommodate once they move in with one another.
And that park becomes sorta special tbh.
It’s in that alcove with the swings and trees where Lily and Remus go when things are becoming too much, or they would just like to escape the world by one another’s side.
It’s where they tried their first cigarettes that Remus had gotten from an older bloke in Beauxbaton’s when they were thirteen and feeling adventurous. And where they go to listen to the releases of their favorite albums, and when Remus told Lily that he’s gay for the first time before leaving to both their fourth years and it’s like one of those spots they both think of and feel golden.
Oh God! Imagine how cute of a celebration that Nate and Hope hold for them both becoming prefects!!! Hope and Nate definitely insist on some sort of summer todo! And they invite their friends and all that jazz and OMFG what if Lily’s wearing some sorta powder blue sundress that matches Remus’s oxford shirt and they both are grimacing in all the photos and are just not thriving foieajfoierjgiearfoijsdkgxh But like they would be doted on rotten that whole day! This is so cute! OMFG! And this probs means James became Prefect as well and so Remus gets to tease her when he sends her some sort of congratulations letter and she’s totally blushing and trying to hide her grin, and Lily retaliates by kicking his ankle tbh bahaha
Okay also now I’m thinking of like Lily’s like fifth year, and her Muggle studies class is doing some sort of seminar to see if these idiots can actually survive in a totally Muggle area without a lick of magic, so like it’s spring hols, and guess who she’s partnered up with???
Cookies for you because we all know she had to work with James and Sirius lmfao!!!
And she’s totally still trying to hide her crush on James— who’s nearly always leering and winking her way— and she might actually punch Sirius’s face simply because he’s such a smug bastard, and being from a working class family like herself, she’s like always ready to fight preppy rich boys tbh
So James and Sirius decide to plan out the simulation in her house that’s right outside Cardiff and Remus is cackling the entire morning before they’re set to arrive because she’s so pissy about it lmfao
Okay so like obviously the boys end up taking the port key and land in front of her place and it’s Remus who answers the door, still painted with humor because Lily was just screaming about “if Potter brings that insufferable snitch here I’ll bloody shove it up his arse” and James is immediately on the defense because Lily’s only ever talked about her sister and brother who live with her at home, and this dude is golden where she’s pale and has curls over her straight hair and just, obviously they’re not related by blood at all. And for his part, Sirius is like *Oh! Oh! Oh! Pretty!!! Pretty boy!! Muggle boy? Pretty Muggle boy!*
But Remus obviously knows who they are straight away, so he like waves them inside before rounding to the stairs and calling for her to stop clogging the toilet or something else mortifyingly embarrassing, and Lily promises to put like pickles in the next set of face masks that they do because she knows how fucking allergic he is to them, and she wants her chuckles damn it!!
“Potter— Black,” is how she greets them with a derisive sort of glower that Remus can completely see through, so he has to excuse himself while laughing over to the kitchen. “You’ve met my delightful brother I see.”
And James’s entire posture relaxes and he’s back to grinning like a dope, and the only weird part is that Sirius has got on the very same face, *Pretty Muggle boy is Evan’s brother* So like they are both scary levels of elated, rip.
But sucks to be Sirius because Remus leaves after that to meet up with a friend from town who’s also the best dealer tbh, and  so he has to deal with James’s awful levels of flirting with Lily while they scrounge up their itinerary to send their professor for the seminar type thing, and he doesn’t even have a pretty distraction XS
But Lily does force Remus to come along with her on the trip to London because “On God, if I spend a day alone with those bellends by myself I will punch a wall”
And it is literally the worst, but best double date/first date that’s full of Sirius and James fucking up with everything— including asking some poor Tesco employee where are their fudgeflies and giving a homeless man a hand full of galleons and James’s snitch somehow ending up in the meaty hands of some kid at the tube. But also tbh it’s hella cute when Lily lets James give her his jacket when they’re walking along the Thames and it’s getting chilly, and when Remus lets Sirius share his stick of cotton candy and they both sorta stare at the sugar on each of their lips.
But then they go to some tiny museum, and while they’re looking at a impressionist piece, Sirius is totally trying to show off to Remus and is explaining how he could turn the bench their sitting on into a really nice bouquet of Lupins, and in the middle of his stupid showboating, Remus lightly corrects him on some facet of Gamp’s law, and Sirius freezes— shocked still— and he’ sort of gaping like an idiot, before Lily stops his blustering with a scoff “He’s a damn wizard also you arse.”
And Sirius is floundering for the rest of the evening, and he has so many questions, but they all die on his lips every time he glances over at Remus and he’s just smirking at him with this electric glint in his golden eyes
So obviously when they’re back at Hogwarts he pesters Lily every second of every day about Remus, and why he’s not at Hogwarts. “None of your fucking business.” And asking where Remus goes instead. “Beauxbatons, thankfully far away from you.” and he asks her about a thousand other questions that Lily either scoffs at or simply cuffs him around the head for daring to even try getting his address.
And she pokes fun about the situation to Remus and tells him how much more of an idiot he’s acting like, and how hilarious it all is. And she’s shocked when he responds to her letter merely by saying, “Hah- he’s cute.”
And so obviously she shoots back a reply that’s a letter of all his worst traits, mainly that he’s an arrogant toerag, and that he’s a posh idiot who could probably live off his inheritance for three lifetimes without blinking, and about how he doesn’t date anyone for longer than a couple months, and how he’s practically brothers with James bloody Potter, and yet again, Remus just tells her, Hah- he’s cute, before mildly moving to talking about his latest charms paper and how he’s been asked to be their DADA’s professors TA next year, and how Andrew keeps trying to try again with him but Remus would rather poke his eyes out with a spork.
So Lily is totally fuming when she recognizes that she’s lost and begrudgingly gives Sirius Remus’s info, after telling him lowly and with her most menacing glower, “IF you fuck around with my brother I will murder you without a flinch.” And she’s quite literally five feet nothing to Sirius’s broad, six-foot frame, but he knows that she could do it with a snap of the finger, and he promises that it’s not just a gag on his end. And Lily actually believes him.
So Remus and Sirius begin writing to one another a sickening amount, like so steadfastly that it gives Lily a complex whenever she finds Sirius waiting at the Owlry every Wednesday morning for the bird that arrives with two letters tied to it’s leg, one for each of them.
And God, one time, right before they let out for summer hols, Lily accidentally takes the one marked for Sirius— and holy christ!!!, She did not need to know just what exactly her brother has been getting up to in the sex department of things— like she legit contemplated using a memory charm on herself JFC
And Sirius probably ends up on their doorstep again in late July, with James at toe, and somehow their is a small harmony painted between the four of them, and it’s by Christmas of sixth year when James and Sirius begin talking about how amazing it’ll be when they’re actually in-law brothers, and Lily blames Remus for everything when she’s pretending to be cross over it, but then James puts his arm around her shoulders, and she sees how gentle Sirius is when he twines his fingers into Remus’s own, and it feels good, feels right.
It feels like something that can be forever.

Mikayla being space royalty and a superhero AND adopted by the Warners sound like your typical mary sue backstory but i promise you it makes more sense one you read the lore i have!
Norah Jordan (Kayla's mom) didn't have a good relationship with her parents so she was eager to get out of the house and go to college. At the time she studied marine biology. One day at the beach she found Optimatus washed up on the shore, having had survived a surprise attack by martians ans a crash. She took him in and during his recovery they fell in love. Months passed and a search and rescue party arrived on Earth to pick up Optimatus. While he hated to leave his new life he knew he has to go back to Freleng. He never even told Norah of his royal backstory. He left knowing he had to do something to keep the galaxy safe. Norah often wondered what happened to her mysterious love. Soon after Optimatus left she found out she was pregnant.
Following Mikayla's birth Norah struggled with balancing school and taking care of a baby. So she hired the Warners to be a babysitter. The gag/episode runs as normal and the usual shenanigans occurred. Luckily the Warners make it out in one piece and Norah comes home to fine Mikayla sleeping peacefully. Impressed Norah continued to hire the Warners as caretakers, eventually in gratitude the Warners put in a request for Norah to work a highly-coveted job at the then-new movie ACME studio in Acmetropolis. Norah doesn't get the job but she does get to be the Warners' secretary. Years go by, Mikayla comes to see them as family, even changing her last name to Warner.
Their influence weren't exactly positive as their mischievous nature rubbed off on Kayla and she grows up to be some kind of a delinquent.
Mikayla joined the Loonatics completely by accident - while walking home from a rough day at her job as a retail worker she got caught up in a villain attack. The stress caused her to unleash her powers taking out the villain in the process. The team saw this and tried to talk to her but she disappears. They spend the next week looking for her and they find her and go to her house. Ace offers her a spot on the team but she declined expressing no interest in joining a hero team. She already had a job and goal, and didn't want extra stress of juggling so much stuff. Disappointed they leave but say a spot is always open for her. Mikayla moves on with her life, dealing with her shitty job and sadness that the Warners don't visit as often anymore because of their busy schedule.
Later Optimatus would find out Zadavia hiding out on Earth and tracks her down. He also learns that Norah is still around and looks for her, and that was how he learned thay Norah had a baby - his heir - and by finding his heir he could mould them in his image. He takes Norah hostage, so Mikayla runs to the Loonatics for help. They go to rescue Norah and come across Zadavia in person for the first time. She explains the situation and tells Mikayla her power is a trait of the Royal Family - which likely means Optimatus had a child on Earth and that child is her.
At Optimatus's ship Norah doesn't recognize the cyborg before her and demands answers. The cyborg reveals himself to be her former lover and that he recently found out about his child. He explained that after Martians attacked him, and learning they and other worlds had a history of conquest, he felt he needed to do something about the constant wars and resolved to fight fire with fire. He had already taken over Freleng and used its power to conquer "problem worlds." Horrified Norah argued that he could end up destroying everyone including himself if he continued down this path. The Tyrant counters that he's doing it to protect her, their child and the universe. He already had a meteorite set up to strong arm Earth's leaders into surrendering. Just then Loonatics and Mikayla crash the place and get into a fight with Optimatus's henchmen. Mikayla rushes over to free her mom only to be accosted by Optimatus. He tells her he is her father but to his shock she responded that she already knew - her aunt Zadavia told her the truth. Besides she always regarded Yakko and Wakko as sort of father figures so it's jarring to find out that her biological father is a space tyrant and she won't stand for that. Angry Optimatus tries to take her hostage but Zadavia intervenes and they get into a fight. It takes the whole team and Mikayla to take him down and stop the meteorite from destroying the planet. They manage to defeat him and they lock him up.
Of course Mikayla doesn't forget her adopted relatives the Warners. Whenever they're in town they always take the time to visit her and Norah.
Zadavia stays to mentor with her newfound niece, so she's a lot more in the picture than in canon, actively helping the team in person while Mikayla teaches her aunt Earth culture. Overtime Mikayla learns to be more responsible since Zadavia legitimizes her as Crown Princess of Freleng, and she finds a place on the Loonatics Team. Norah struggled to understand how the man she once loved become like that and had reservations about Mikayla being a superhero so after a long talk with Zadavia Norah decides to let Mikayla be if ot meant helping her cope with her powers. Norah actually ends up moving to Freleng to help its people recover from Optimatus's rule.

the FBI agent looking at my computer must be so incredibly concerned. Here’s Laito and Cordelia analysis, Part II
Hiya, Corn here! This is Part II of this analysis series! Part one’s here!
Not getting into the trauma part of it yet. Just explaining abusive power dynamics and how incestuous relationships work. As well as Stockholm syndrome. Lovely! Lovely combo! Fuck!!!
Same trigger warnings as last time still apply!
As always, rant under the cuuuuut!
Ok, from last time, we’ve established the elements that were set in place for Cordelia to do this to Laito, when Laito’s trauma began, and the possible fact that he was groomed as a child for sexual exploitation. Wow. Yay. Amazing. This is so gross!!! Thanks, I hate it!!!! I know I usually cary these topics with just an informational tone but I just can’t with this ;lskfjklsajf But I’m here typing this, you’re here reading this, so let’s just get on with the grossness!
Section 3: Legal Definitions of Incest and Power Dynamics
Now we’re gonna get into the flesh of the problem, and what we know happened. From last time, and common DL knowledge, Laito was coerced into having sex with Cordelia. I say coerced, rather than forced, because it’s not like Laito seemed to resist it. He seems to “willingly” give Cordelia that. Is dubious consent, consent? Oh fuck no, and dubious or coerced consent shouldn’t even count in here considering it’s straight up incest. Any type of incest, most especially between a parent and a child, is not considered consensual, even if it “technically is.” That’s how it’s handled in a court of law, at least in America (where I’m from and reside in), and I do agree with that morally as well. A “romantic” and sexual relationship between a parent (or adult family member; aunt, grandfather, etc) and a child (is just gross) preys upon the power dynamic between them. This isn’t any consensual BDSM power dynamic (obviously), or a constructive power dynamic in the workplace; it’s just a power dynamic already instilled into the relationship where it is taken advantage of. That’s not just fucked up incest, that’s an example of a toxic relationship from the get go. Also, there’s a power dynamic usually between a parent and child, but that doesn’t mean it’s always toxic. It just needs to be done responsibly, which good parents (or any adult in power) know how to maneuver around it and not take advantage of it for manipulation etc.
In healthy relationships, you both start on equal ground. It usually never works out if you don’t see the other as an equal, whether you have a predisposed power dynamic at the beginning or not. I’m talking any relationship; family relationships, friendships, romantic, sexual, etc. Although you older folks might know about BDSM and how there’s a “power dynamic” instilled in the relationship, a chosen and consensual “power dynamic” still involves both parties seeing the other one as an equal––intrinsically. It’s just very different than a predisposed power dynamic. That even goes with friendship too! Or any kind of healthy, nontoxic social interaction! Taken directly from Psychology Today, “Shared power creates happy individuals and satisfying interactions.” People need to be on equal ground in order to have a healthy relationship. Which,,,, we know does not happen with Cordelia and Laito (and Laito and Yui for that matter, but that’s during another part of this series). An article I saw during the research of this explains further about how power dynamics can be constructive. This focuses more on the workplace, but it applies to this because it’s looking at the other person as another person (an equal) but uses that predisposed power for encouragement, empowerment, and constructiveness (like a good parent or adult role model would do). I hope this makes sense!
Basically Cordelia is abusing her power in order to do all this to Laito. That’s why grooming would make a lot of sense in this as well, because we know it’s definitely not the first time Cordelia has taken advantage of a power imbalance to her own selfish benefit. That’s why incest isn’t really explained with the same science as pedophilia. I forget if I’ve mentioned it before, but one way pedophilia can occur in a person if their brain was originally biologically wired in a way that sees children as sexual objects. With incest, it could also work like that as well, but it is mainly power abuse, like most sexual exploitation, harassment, assault, etc is.
Section 4: Incest (I’d make a sweet home Alabama joke but that’s low hanging fruit)
Ok so now that we’ve gone over the legality of incest, and how power dynamics can be taken advantage of, we’re gonna look into the type of incest (yes apparently there are types) that Cordelia and Laito fits into. Also if this already wasn’t clear or anything, hi incest and pedophilia etc are forms of abuse, there is no justifying it at all. It’s abuse, no matter what’s said. I know these are fictional characters but I sometimes see Ayato x Cordelia and Laito x Cordelia etc posts and I kinda just wanna commit heinous crimes whenever I see that. Just the idea of that absolutely sickens me (on top of the abuse shown in DL already). Anyways, after all of that out of the way, let’s go into this.
Since Laito is biologically 17, I’d say that he’s considered as a child (teenager) by demon world standards. We don’t know his age when Cordelia first physically exploited him, but we do know that his same “teenage” sprite is used during the flashbacks. Since his trauma fits so well with the aftermath definition of parent/child incest, I’m just gonna give y’all information on that. This is also called “child incestuous abuse,” which is also a form of child sexual abuse.
I learned an interesting factoid researching this, and that is in Japan, the most commonly believed incestuous relationship was between mothers and sons. In the West, we think of fathers/daughters. In Japan, the media covers more on mother/son incestuous acts; while statistically, more father/daughter incestuous acts are taken place. Just something interesting(?) I found, and probably why DL chose that for storytelling too.
In this Wikipedia article, taken from a scientific paper (I’d take it directly from the source but you need an account to get in and I think you need to pay for it), it says this:
A study of victims of father–daughter incest in the 1970s showed that there were "common features" within families before the occurrence of incest: estrangement between the mother and the daughter, extreme paternal dominance, and reassignment of some of the mother's traditional major family responsibility to the daughter.
Sure, this talks about father/daughter incestuous relationships, but if we take this and reverse most of the roles, it shows Laito’s situation to a T:
Estrangement between Karlheinz and Laito
Extreme maternal dominance (aka Cordelia being very abusive/manipulative)
Reassignment of some of the parental responsibility to Laito (there’s many examples of “big bro Laito,” and Ayato and Kanato considers that they used Laito as a “sacrifice”––as a “shield” for the both of them. Sure this isn’t explicit parental responsibility shown through Laito but I’d say he acts more like a family member to Ayato and Kanato too)
Section 5: Stockholm syndrome? With parental figures?
Laito had some interesting situations occur during this whole thing with Cordelia. One of the most infamous scenes from the game (that’s also illustrated in the HDB manga) is a flashback Laito has where he’s locked up, forced to see Cordelia and Richter have sex. He’s appalled by the fact at first, but then attempts to convince himself that he’s into it. However, I won’t get into the effects until the next part.
I didn’t find much about Stockholm syndrome being in this specific case with incest and kidnapping a child etc. When you look up Stockholm syndrome related to parents you get quite the sexist “article” that definitely mocks the whole Stockholm syndrome thing and makes fun of guys being into Glee and such,,,, so that wasn’t a very helpful article. However, I’m just gonna mish mash and put a lot of concepts that we’ve learned together. But first, a look into Stockholm syndrome.
Stockholm syndrome occurs when an abuse victim develops empathy or even intimate feelings for their abuser or captor. This happens because any bit of kindness the abuser enacts towards their victim is taken so positively, that the victim “forgets” all the negative actions, and focuses on the positive ones. This isn’t some sort of “oh ya gotta think positive!” kind of thing, it’s how abusers get away with their bullshit and how someone can be so trapped in a relationship with them. It’s also called traumatic bonding or victim brainwashing (source). This doesn’t always happen with people who are held hostage, like in Stockholm syndrome’s name origin.
A parent’s influence can be a strong one. Doesn’t even have to be related to by blood. But a figure that is supposed to be nurturing—whether they are or not—still has power over the “child.” He definitely went through Stockholm Syndrome himself with Cordelia, considering the grooming and the “love”/hate relationship he has with Cordelia. I did some more digging, and apparently Stockholm Syndrome can still occur more commonly with sexually abused victims. Which we all know he is. With the possible grooming, on top of the power abuse and sexual abuse, creates an incredibly toxic concoction. Here we go. The (rotten) cherry on top. Directly from my HDB notes, here’s a snippet from his Maniac Prologue:
Cordelia: Nnn…Hey, Laito. You are a good boy. Laito: …!! Cordelia: Right, Laito? Laito: Yeah, that’s right. I’m…I’m a good boy after all.  ーー Besides, I’m the type of person who only get more aroused from this kind of thing.
(from my notes:) Basically Laito convinces himself to be a “cuckhold.” It’s definitely implied how he just wants approval from Cordelia; this is how this abuse prolongs.
(Also, if I ever said that Laito was locked up by Cordelia, my bad; it was Karlheinz who gave that order. I’m unsure where I ever said this, but I feel like I said it before, so I’m gonna clarify that right now too, oops! My memory hath failed me.)
Cordelia’s praise effects Laito in such a visceral way that he tries so hard to cope with the trauma in her favor. It’s incredibly messed up. But that’s the defining factor in this. From this, I do believe Laito has Stockholm syndrome on top of all of his issues.
I think I’m gonna end it here for now. Didn’t expect to be this long, oops. Stay tuned for next time, where I’m gonna go over Laito’s trauma and how he’s been effected by it. Thanks for reading, FBI agent! And oh, you as well, dear reader!
If you’ve read this far holy fuck I commend you -Corn

Lance’s long lost daughter headcanon - Adeleide Danuluk
This was supposed to come out in December 2020, but instead, it’s coming out in May 2021. Before you get into the headcanon, I’ll give a refresher because its been so long. Another OC of mine is Adeleide who is Lance’s daughter that he had no prior knowledge of. She was introduced in a comic called “Cynthia and the Indigo Plateau” last year, but I gave up on the comic, because a 10 page comic would have turned into a 50 page comic and I don’t do any comics past 25 pages anymore. So like Ross and Bertha, I’m introducing her through a headcanon. She did make an appearance in Lance’s 41st birthday, just to remind you that she exists. There will also be pictures in here that some of you have seen in the comic before. So without further ado, here is her headcanon. I’m not much of a lengthy writer, so sorry if there are grammatical errors.
Tumblr media
ADELEIDE PAST:
Adeleide was born in Blackthorn City, Johto in 2002. She is the daughter and love child of Lance Blackthorn (father) and Amelia Danuluk (mother). Her mother and father were in a casual relationship for a year back in 2001; but unfortunately, her parents broke up, and Adeleide was born without her father’s knowledge. She continued living in Blackthorn under her mother’s maiden name. Her mother also made the decision to stay as a single parent for the rest of her life.
Like everyone else in Blackthorn, Adeleide had a love for dragon Pokemon; and after years of taking the family Altaria to the Pokevet so often, the girl wanted to be a Pokevet.
Adeleide enjoyed (and still does) watching Pokemon battles on the television. She was (and still is) a big fan of Lance Blackthorn and wished to watch him battle live and meet him one day. She liked the man, because not only was he from Blackthorn, but he was a dragon specialist. She owned some of his merchandise, and wanted the same Pokemon as him too.
At the age of fourteen, Adeleide was starting to notice the littlest of the things. Every time Lance appeared on the TV screen, her mother always gave a bitter look. She then began to wonder if her mother had some sort of past with the dragon master. Obsessed with her mother’s reactions towards Lance, Adeleide started looking at the man a little closer, and could see physical resemblances. She told herself that it could just be a coincidence, but she had to be sure.  She then approached her mother about her suspicions, but was immediately told never to bring the subject up again until she was eighteen.
Tumblr media
On the day Adeleide turned eighteen, she approached her mother again on the Lance issue, and as promised, her mother spilled everything. Of course Adeleide was upset; she could’ve had a father in her life somehow, but that was taken away from her. Her mother - however - gave the excuse that Lance had a future and she didn’t want to burden him with a baby, as he was rising through the ranks towards success and fame at that time.
Shortly after she was told the truth, Adeleide was able to get Lance’s phone number from her mother. After what Lance thought was a weird fan interaction, Adeleide told Lance who she really was. Of course there was scepticism on Lance’s end, but her mother immediately talked to him and confirmed that Adeleide’s words were true and that he’d fathered a child when they were both 22; she even offered that if he was still unsure that he could take a paternity test.
ADELEIDE AND LANCE’S WEEK TOGETHER IN JULY 2020:
Lance and Adeleide talked a few more times on the phone before Adeleide finally found the courage to ask the champion if she could meet him in person. Unfortunately, she knew through the hesitation in his voice, that he didn’t want the same, but knowing how to get what she wanted, Lance eventually gave in and they agreed on spending a week together in Blackthorn. After their week, they would both decide on whether or not they should pursue a father-daughter relationship, or go their separate ways and pretend that nothing had ever happened.
Before Adeleide met her biological father, she studied hard on what father’s are and what their responsibilities were when it came to their children; however, she took a lot of her research too literally.
Day 1:
Lance had met up with Adeleide right off the train in Blackthorn and told her immediately that if she blamed him for his absence that he would leave, but she assured him that she had known the truth for a while and thought nothing of that sort.
They went shopping later and Lance’s wallet paid the price. According to Adeleide, “Father’s are supposed to pay for everything,” so he bought her new clothes, shoes and makeup. That’s when he found out that she was a manipulative, spoiled brat. In her life, she had gotten everything she ever wanted, and expected the same from everyone else; and what Adeleide wanted now was to have a father in her life, and she was going to do everything in her power to get that.
Day 2:
On their second day together, Adeleide and Lance decided to bake all day together. Adeleide was having the time of her life, but she soon noticed that Lance looked like he wasn’t having any fun at all. She tried to create some fun by beginning a food fight, but Lance was having none of it. After subtly displaying her disappointment, Lance felt bad and he had his revenge by resuming the food fight.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
After their food fight, they sort of bonded by telling each other who they were and their likes and dislikes. Adeleide then got a stomach ache later from all of the cookie dough she had eaten and went home to rest for the remainder of the day.
Day 3:
On day three, Lance and Adeleide went out for ice cream. Seeing that Lance had that uncomfortable look on his face again, Adeleide asked him if he wanted to go back to the Indigo Plateau. He was obviously uncertain and uncomfortable talking to her and being in her presence, so why should she force him to stay? Fortunately for her, Lance insisted on staying and trying to be a good dad. He opened up and said that he was only uncomfortable because he couldn’t find a connection between them. There was nothing they could really bond about. He was trying to be a dad to an adult; a person who could already take care of themselves and make their own decisions. It would be a lot easier if she were a small child.
After hearing that, Adeleide then tried finding that connection through their love of dragon pokemon. She proudly displayed her dragonite and swablu, and Lance was speechless. She then demanded a battle, and he obliged without hesitation.
Lance won with ease; he thought he’d teach her a little bit of humility.
Day 4,5 and 6
On those days they mostly talked. They would get a coffee, walk around town and maybe see a movie, but for the most part, they just talked. They talked about their pasts, their personalities, their pokemon, their careers and their futures. He even gave her a tour around Blackthorn estate and took her to her grandparent’s graves, where he would tell endless stories about them.
It wasn’t until Day 6 when Lance and Adeleide finally found that connection, and began having deep conversations that they would keep to themselves.
Day 7
On their last day, they discussed how they wanted to move forwards. Should they part ways and never see each other again? Or should they pursue a father-daughter relationship that needed a lot of work. After some thorough discussion, and confirming that Adeleide wanted nothing to do with the Blackthorn name, they decided to pursue the relationship by writing to each other often and seeing each other when each of them had some spare time. They knew that they wouldn’t be close, but it would get better. Afterwords, they said their temporary goodbyes and parted ways.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
ADELEIDE PRESENT:
Currently, Adeleide is nineteen years of age, is still a spoiled brat, and is attending university in Sinnoh where she is studying to become a Pokevet that specialises in dragon Pokemon.
Her and Lance still write to each other and visit when they can. They're not particularly close, but they know they’ll get there eventually.
She has a fiance now and often makes the joke with Lance that she’ll be giving him a grandchild for him to babysit sometime this year. She also stans her father together with Cynthia and hopes he gives her a brother or sister one day.
That’s it! Sorry her headcanon came out so late!! Currently in my AU Lance and Adeleide had kept in contact since last July, so this headcanon was just put to the side for so long and I had to get this out before father’s day haha.

the smell of sea water,
the stillness of the library,
coffee stains on paper,
family photos on the walls,
the gentle strains of classical music over hushed conversations in an elegant ballroom,
the sound of children laughing,
muddy but sturdy boots under elegant dresses,
a well-worn ring
HEADCANONS:
Jasmine loves being surrounded by children. Having grown up an only child but with a myriad of cousins, she always longed to have a large family of her own. She was devastated at first when she and Richard couldn't seem to have a child of their own, but she's happy now with her adopted children, and her granddaughter.
Jasmine likes to dabble with painting and drawing in her spare time. She finds the activity relaxing. When her children were younger, she'd sometimes let them borrow her paints and pencils, and let them "express themselves". Whatever "masterpieces" they made, she framed them and displayed proudly in their home. As the children grew older, they were taken down, but she still has them kept tucked away in a spare room.
Jasmine's career as a marine biologist was at first frowned upon by her ultra conservative and old-fashioned mother, who was grooming her to be a high-class lady that could perhaps catch the eye of some nobility or any other rich man. Her father, on the other hand, was supportive of her. Her mother finally reluctantly agreed to her being a "career woman" when she was eventually involved with Richard, after her mother knew of Richard's family's background. Her mother found Richard a "rather peculiar fellow" though, but didn't object to their relationship and then eventual marriage.
Jasmine and Richard makes donations to the Wolf Wild Rescue. They do it anonymously, but somehow, some people already figured it out. They don't mind it though.
BIOGRAPHY:
(tw: mention of miscarriage)
Jasmine Elizabeth Davenport was born into a somewhat privileged life. Her family came from relatively new money, but somehow managed to interject themselves into the inner high social circles of England. Jasmine's father was a businessman, and didn't mind high society so much, focusing more on his business and the prospect of making more money. Her mother, on the other hand, loved the notion of being in high society. And she wanted even more. So when Jasmine was born, her mother saw an opportunity to climb even higher. Her mother wasted no expense at grooming Jasmine into becoming the perfect lady - perhaps someone perfect enough to catch the eye of someone richer, or perhaps even from nobility. Young Jasmine didn't mind it at first, as it meant more attention from her mother than she could ever want for. Also, it meant that she got to spend much time studying and reading, as she soon found out that she loved accumulating all sorts of tidbits of knowledge she could find. While her mother wasn't all too pleased at the notion of her being "bookish", Jasmine somehow found herself retreating more and more into the library and their gardens - soaking up all the knowledge they could give her.
However, as she grew older, and saw how her many cousins weren't as rigid in their upbringing as hers, she began wanting to rebel. She knew that there was more to life than what her mother had in plan for her. She wanted to visit different places - exotic places she only somehow read in her books. So, she concocted a plan of her freedom. At first, she hoped that more siblings would detract her mother's attention from her. Alas, her parents weren't able to give her any. Jasmine was devastated at first, as she somehow envied her cousins and often wondered what having siblings would have been like. It also dashed her hope that perhaps having siblings would make her life at home...less colder and restricted.
Now determined more than ever to somehow break free from her gilded cage, she then sought to seek her freedom somewhere else -- through the very high society circles she and her family were part of. Her plan was to somehow snare a rich-enough man that would please both her parents (most especially her mother) and would also somehow not care about her enough to just leave her alone to her own biddings. She didn't, however, count on meeting Richard Bailey.
Everyone in their circles knew the Baileys. They were an old, old family and were well-respected among their peers, and within the academic circles as well. Jasmine only saw Richard Bailey once when she was younger, and it was only for a short introduction. After all, they were only both children at that time. However, years later, during one of those society parties her mother so loved to be a part of, she saw him once again. She wasn't entirely charmed with him at first, but he was a persistent man. She soon found herself spending more and more time with him, and getting to know him better. And somehow, she fell in love with him. And to her delight, he loved her right back. And it was in that instant that Jasmine knew that her life would definitely be changed.
Richard wasn't ideally the man her mother wanted for her. He was a scholar and an archeologist, preferring his books and his tools and not squirming at the notion of getting dirty and sweaty. But he was the heir to the Bailey name and fortune, and that was something that her mother could not say no to. Jasmine was thrilled at her mother's (conditional) acceptance of Richard, as it also allowed her to finally pursue her dreams of going into the academic field, after much nudging from Richard. Her parents allowed her to take up Marine Biology during her university years, in which she finally found her calling.
Her life with Richard at first was exhilarating and fun. She got to travel alongside with him to many different places. And while it was great at first, Jasmine suddenly found herself wanting something - a child. When she and Richard first started trying for one, they were giddy with excitement. And when she finally found herself pregnant, they were both brimming with happiness. Alas, it was not meant to be. A month after her positive pregnancy result, while accompanying her husband to South Africa, she found herself bleeding profusely. A trip to the doctor confirmed their worst fear. The baby was lost, and both she and Richard were heartbroken. The two of them were never the same after that. Though they both had each other for comfort, Jasmine also found constant solace in her studies. Sure, they tried, but a child was never conceived again. Jasmine's hopes for a large family was crushed. So, she and Richard buried themselves in studies, research and in exploration.
Hope sprang again when a friend of theirs suggested they adopt. They didn't really explore that option before, but now, they were willing to give it a try. And as soon as they laid eyes on their soon-to-be adoptive son, they knew that they were going to be parents. They didn't stop at one though. During a visit to Turkey, they met Little Deniz, fell in love with her, and adopted her as well.
Jasmine found herself loving becoming a mother. She and Richard brought the children along with them wherever they went, teaching them what they know, and allowing them to explore and learn more about the world and their surroundings. Their love for knowledge and the world were somehow passed on to them, and Jasmine is rather proud that she and Richard were able to raise their children into the fine adults they are now.
While Jasmine still loves to travel, now that both she and Richard were getting older, she found herself looking forward to a cozy home life more. They settled into the manor house Richard inherited from his parents, situated right outside of London, while their now-grown children traveled the world without them.
Both she and Richard are highly respected in the academic world, him in the circles of archeology and history, while her in the biological and marine sciences. Jasmine, after settling in England, found herself spending some of her time teaching at a nearby university, while also diving back into the high society world of her younger years -- attending parties, appearances at charity balls, and doing philanthropic work.
She had a rather routine life, when one day, her daughter, Deniz (who has changed her name to Aslihan, or Asli for short) arrived home pregnant. Of course Jasmine was shocked at first, but she welcomed Asli back with open arms. She took care of Asli during the rest of her pregnancy, and was curious about the baby's father, but didn't push Asli for more information about him other than what their daughter told them. When Alexandra was born and Jasmine had the chance to hold her in her arms, she knew that even if she had no blood connection to the little child, Alexandra was her granddaughter. And no one could say otherwise.
Having Alexandra and Asli around brought a much-needed life to their manor house in London, and Jasmine loved having them around. However, she sensed that Asli was somehow restless and perhaps was looking for something else. So when her daughter announced that she was moving to Colorado in the United States, it was to no surprise to Jasmine. Still, Jasmine was all teary-eyed when she and Richard dropped both Asli and Alexandra off at the airport.
Jasmine missed her daughter terribly, of course, but she was grateful for technology nowadays, as it allowed her to call them every now and then. However, when news arrived to them that their daughter was hospitalized because of an attack, she and Richard knew that it was best to pack their bags and go to Providence Peak.
They decided to stay in Providence Peak, even after Asli's recovery, knowing that their lives were better off with family nearby. Nowadays, they live in Summit Lake, with Jasmine's time spent between being a marine biologist and an adjunct professor at the university, and spending time with people around town. Jasmine loves opening her home to children, and most days can be seen either holding impromptu art classes to them in their lawn, or taking them down to the lakeside, playing with them.
Providence Peak has now become more and more like home to Jasmine, and looking back at her life, she wouldn't have guessed it. Spending her days with her family nearby, Jasmine wouldn't ask for anything more.

[ VALENTINA ALVAREZ.   30.   CIS WOMAN.   SHE / HER ]  is here!   They’ve lived in Silver Lake for  [ 12 YEARS ]  and are originally from  [ PASADENA,  CA ].   They are a  [ BARTENDER AT DUNGEON & YOGA INSTRUCTOR AT 24/7 FITNESS ]  and in their downtime love  [ PLAYING VIDEO GAMES ]  and  [ UPCYCLING CLOTHING ].   They look a lot like  [ EMERAUDE TOUBIA ]  and live  [ IN OASIS APTS ].
content warnings:  mentions of alcohol and underage drinking,  pregnancy and labor,  allusions to nsfw content.
timeline.
december 10, 1990  --  valentina elena maroun is born.   half-sister to four older brothers,  her biological father misses her birth and is almost entirely absent throughout valentina’s youth.
1990 to 2008  --  valentina spends her formative years in pasadena,  ca with her family.   during this period,  her mother gets back with her previously separated husband  ( valentina’s brothers’ father )  for good.   valentina considers this man to be her real dad,  and at the age of 9 valentina’s surname is changed to his:  alvarez,  matching the rest of their family.   upon her high school graduation at 17 years old,  she prepares to move to silver lake with two of her friends:  they’re both to attend usc,  while valentina attends ucla on a partial athletic scholarship for softball.
2008 to 2010  --  spends her first two years of college doing exactly what most expect:  going out with friends,  experimenting,  drinking whatever she can get her hands on,  and so on and so forth.   she still takes her studies and softball seriously,  and works part-time at paco’s tacos in silver lake during this time.
2010 to 2011  --  falls pregnant at 19 and gives birth to her daughter,  rosa torres,  shortly after turning 20.   has taken the fall and spring semesters of this school year off to prepare for her daughter’s birth,  as well as to be home during rosa’s infancy.   has a strenuous,  lengthy and difficult labor.   it’s under pressure from her parents that valentina pursues a romantic relationship with rosa’s father,  lucas torres,  for rosa’s sake.  by 2012 however,  they come to agree a platonic relationship coparenting works best for everyone involved.
2011 to 2014  --  moves in with her brother in santa monica,  bringing rosa along with her,  to return to school and cut her commute in half.   has lost her athletic scholarship,  yet earns a partial academic one.   valentina relies heavily on family to help out with rosa during this period and has reached out to her biological father for financial aid.   their relationship is strained,  but on the mend.   upon her graduation,  valentina gets a job as a server at maria sol on the santa monica pier.
2015 to 2016  --  though valentina doesn’t want to,  she relents to moving back home so rosa can be closer to her father.   valentina reluctantly moves back in with her parents and enters a job tending bar at dungeon.
2016 to 2018  --  unable to stand living at home,  valentina convinces another one of her brothers to let her move in with him in silver lake.   gets a second job as a yoga instructor at 24/7 fitness.   she cuts back her hours at the club when in 2018,  she manages to land yet another job:  as a project-based writer for buzzfeed reviewing and researching sex toys.   this quickly leads to her brother encouraging  ( read:  telling )  her to move out when he’s put in the uncomfortable position of,  to put it as cleanly as possible,  hearing her working.
2018 to 2021  --  valentina finally moves out into a three bedroom apartment at the oasis with long-time friend,  helena,  for a roommate.   still works part-time at dungeon with hopes to quit soon,  and continues to teach yoga and contribute to buzzfeed.
personality traits.
alluring,  assertive,  vehement  --  valentina is a very passionate person and this translates into her sensuality.   she’s never really been afraid to go after the things she wants,  whether it’s in her personal or professional life.  in personal relationships,  valentina isn’t ashamed to make the first move and can be quite flirty at times.   unfortunately,  valentina has yet to be in a relationship that’s lasted longer than a year or two.   while she does want to settle down,  she can be fickle and unsure of what  ( or who )  she wants.
candid,  effervescent,  resilient  --  in general,  valentina is a person who values honesty and respects people who tell the truth when it’s most difficult.   her keen attitude on brutal honesty doesn’t,  however,  get in the way of her easygoing nature:  it’s not hard to get along with her and she’s incredibly outspoken and outgoing.   of course,  this may rub people the wrong way at times.
egocentric,  erratic,  frivolous  --  it may or may not be obvious that valentina has a penchant for changing her mind.   she does her best to think of others first,  especially so when it comes to her daughter,  but she’s entirely susceptible to her own whims.   she’s impulsive and seems to lack purpose.   and,  ultimately,  it scares her to consider that she’s never known what she wants to do with her life:  so she doesn’t stop to think.
recalcitrant,  resentful,  rigid  --  valentina is a fan of grudges.   she tends to hers like pets.   she’s often stubborn and unwavering and entirely unwilling to admit when she’s in the wrong.   fully the type to never forgive,  never forget,  but just move on.   and perhaps it comes from being the youngest,  but she’s also known for being pouty and upset when things don’t go her way.
miscellaneous headcanons.
for about 2 years beginning when she was 25,  valentina was apart of a roller derby team in los angeles.   given that the pronunciation of her nickname valé sounds so close to valley,  she quickly adopted valley hurl as her derby name.   she eventually quit due to no longer having the time to attend practices.
she still roller skates to this day and,  a year ago,  blew up on tiktok  ( along with her roommate,  the one who initially put her on to skating )  when she posted a video of herself skating and dancing down the street.   she’s since deleted previous videos and curated her entire tiktok feed to focus solely on her roller skating.
her social media totals:  1.8m tiktok followers,  178k instagram followers,  2k twitter followers.   most of these were gained within the past year and she’s certainly not famous by any means,  though she has been able to make money off sponsored ads on her instagram.
she’s very into fitness!   she played soccer growing up and still loves a good game of softball,  she loves running,  taking various fitness classes,  etc.   and on the mention of sports,  she also loves going to dodger games and watching sunday night football.
has considered streaming on twitch but ultimately decided she doesn’t have the time to commit to that sort of endeavor.   also has considered starting a podcast.   sort of a jack of all trades,  master of none.
case in point:  got into upcycling clothes a few years ago.   as a result,  got into sewing and began to go thrifting more frequently.   briefly sold stuff on depop before quitting that endeavor a month or so into it  --  now she mainly upcycles pieces for herself and her friends,  as gifts for people,  etc.
has a few tattoos  ( tbd )  that are easy to cover up and generally only visible when she’s wearing certain clothing.   her mother and grandparents were disappointed when they found out but are okay with them now.
is actually a pretty damn good singer!   her entire family is.   at family parties,  you’ll often catch them getting into karaoke or clearing out room somewhere for a dance floor.   it’s not unusual for them to egg you on to join in.
on that note,  a big part of valentina’s enjoyment comes from this type of fun.   even since having a child she’s never necessarily cut back on going out  --  whether it’s to nightclubs,  dive bars,  karaoke nights,  concerts,  anything  --  and has made some technically irresponsible choices.   still makes them to this day.   she’s not perfect by any means.   she’s learned to be more conscientious over the past decade,  however.
ultimately,  valentina struggles with motherhood:  she does the best she can and although her parents are great people,  she wants to make different choices than them.   there’s a lot to be said about how she dealt with parenthood at first and how she still struggles with it now,  but the short version literally is this:  she’s trying.
is afraid of the dark...   like very.   checks under the bed and in the closet at night to this day.   likely stems from the various pranks her brothers played on her as a kid.
currently does not eat noodles.   after a conversation with her daughter about how noodles look like worms,  valentina agreed to abstain from eating them out of solidarity.   is hoping her daughter will get over this aversion soon because valentina loves noodles.

Looks Like Someone Picked a Whole Bushel of Oopsie Daisies: Prologue
yeah okay I ship pinecest and I’m writing a soulmate AU nobody asks for or needs but you know what either I write it and not post it or I write it and post it so I might as well post it. If you’re not into pinecest, that’s fine, you can skip on by. TBOAS chapter 23 is coming out soon.
Regarding this fic, let me explain a few things about it. So in this universe, everyone has a soulmark that appears as soon as you touch your soulmate. It's exactly the same as theirs. Soulmarks appear regardless of age, but once you hit seventeen, you start to feel an insanely strong attraction to your soulmate whether you've touched them already or not. When you do actually touch them, you get a very very strong urge to, well. Bone. It's also very draining to be away from them for too long, so most soulmates who find each other move in with each other right away, just so it's easier on them. There are no laws against incest-y soulmates, but it is still strictly taboo. Most people think that incestuous soulmates should just live separately and not be around each other at all. It’s not gonna be the most angsty fic on the face of the earth, but there is definitely gonna be some in there. And probably a healthy amount of sexy stuff because, despite being in a happy relationship, I am also a huge pervert and like to see my ships do the do so that’s gonna happen. Buckle up. And now, without further ado, welcome to the prologue of Looks like Someone Picked a Whole Bushel of Oopsie Daisies. Starts under the cut.
“No one is ever ready to be a parent. We’re all just varying degrees of not ready.”- my Mom
August 30th, 1999, 10:42pm
“…and as we get closer and to the new millennium, more and more people are coming forward with opinions on the new studies indicating that 17% of mated couples are actually siblings, with an astonishing 73% majority being twins. We have one of the researchers here who has her own opinions about the issue, Dr. Eleanor Robinson. Thanks so much for joining us this evening, Dr. Robinson,” said the news reporter on the television.
Mildly interested, Mr. Will Pines took a sip of his can of Pitt soda as a blonde woman in a lab coat came on screen.
“No problem, Robert, happy to be here,” said the doctor.
“So Dr. Robinson, are these statistics true?” asked the reporter.
The doctor nodded. “Yes, absolutely. I participated in the research myself, and we made some very interesting discoveries.”
“Really?” The reporter leaned forward, resting his elbows on the table. “What kind of findings are you at liberty to share with us?”
“Well,” the doctor continued. “We’ve found that biological sex doesn’t seem to have much of an impact on the soulmarks showing up. The rules seem to be the same as they are with anybody else- except the twins we’ve studied, their marks have been there since birth.”
“So they never have that “ahah!” moment the rest of us experience when we first touch our soulmate?” Robert wondered.
The doctor twisted her lips slightly. “I wouldn’t say that, exactly. They get the same sort of… electricity when touching their soulmate prior to accepting the bond, and they certainly feel drawn to them both romantically and sexually, but that doesn’t happen until later in life.”
“Oh, so they don’t experience it as children, then?”
“No,” Dr. Robinson shook her head. “As with all children who find their soulmate early in life, while touching them does cause the mark to show up, it does not elicit any biological reactions until both parties are at least seventeen.”
“Interesting,” the reporter said with a nod. “And is it true that you support attempts to eliminate the social backlash that these couples experience?”
“Oh, absolutely, absolutely,” Dr. Robinson nodded. “Soulmarked couples are in no way at fault for their feelings for one another, and should not be criticized or judged for acting on those feelings. It’s completely biological.”
“What about the risks of inbreeding? Is that a concern?” Wondered Robert.
The doctor shook her head. “Not really, no. Soulmarked couples are at a much lower risk of genetic birth defects, because they are chosen partially because of their abilities to produce the healthiest children each individual is able to produce. So you see the statistics of soulmarked couples who aren’t related compared to couples that are not soulmarked, and the percentage of birth defects in the former is so much lower than the latter that I’d have difficulty believing it had I not done the research myself.”
So, wait,” the reporter interrupted. “There’s no risks at all?”
“Well of course there are risks, there are always risks when having a child,” reasoned Dr. Robinson. However, with soulmarked couples, the risks are vastly lower than with non-soulmarked couples. The pregnancies are much safer, the births are much safer, and the children themselves are much healthier. According to the research we’ve done, that doesn’t change in the slightest when factoring in the biological relationship, if any, of the couple.”
“Fascinating, just fascinating. Do you have any personal recommendations for parents who have soulmarked children?”
“You mean children who are soulmates with their siblings?” The reporter nodded, and Dr. Robinson tilted her head slightly in thought. “Well,” she began. “I’d recommend that those parents don’t panic or try to separate their children from each other. Even at a young age, after you’ve already had your soulmark appear, not having your soulmate nearby at all can lead to difficulty concentrating and depression. This can, of course, be counteracted with medication, but that’s wholly unnecessary if you allow the children to spend adequate time together in a way that’s age-appropriate and healthy. Supervise them, of course, but the reason most people move in with their soulmate as soon as they find out they share a soulmark is because it’s incredibly draining to be apart. As a doctor, I cannot, in good conscience, recommend attempting to have them live separately if it can be avoided.”
Mr. Pines snorted. Obviously such a thing could never happen. Not to anyone he knew, anyway.
At that moment, Mrs. Caroline Pines staggered into the room, one hand clutching the wall and the other clutching her very large belly.
“Will!” She cried out, wincing. He whipped his head around, startled. “It’s time,” she told him in a shaky voice.
In their haste to get to the hospital, he barely managed to turn off the television.
~~~~~
Six and a half hours later, Mrs. Pines had given birth to two children, a boy and a girl. She was too exhausted to give them names just yet, and when the nurse placed them in her arms, she smiled tearfully.
Mr. Pines smiled affectionately at his family. “I’ll be right back, honey. I’m going to go grab us some water bottles.”
She barely noticed him, cradling her newborn children.
Mr. Pines jogged out of the room and found the vending machine down the hall. Putting in fifty cents for each water bottle, he leaned down to grab them from the vending machine. Standing back up, he heard a horrified screech he recognized as belonging to his wife.
He felt a horrible drop in his stomach. No. No, it isn’t possible.
“Caroline!” He called out, running as fast as he could, coming to an abrupt stop at the hospital room door, his shoes squeaking on the waxed floors as he did. “What’s wrong? What happened?”
Two nurses had taken the children from Mrs. Pines, rocking the newborns in their arms to calm their crying. Mrs. Pines was sobbing uncontrollably, clutching at her hair. A third nurse was desperately trying to calm the new mother down, but was unsuccessful.
“Their wrists!” She gasped out. “Look at their wrists, Will!” The drop in his stomach worsened, and dread filled his veins, but he did as she told him, gently turning each squalling child’s wrists so that he could examine them.
To his horror, he discovered what had upset her so much. Both children had soulmarks.
And they matched.
Akira Shastri | History
So, to continue the daily streak, I shall share Akira's history! I'm actually working on the project actively now - trying to keep up with April nanowrimo. Will share WIP snippets on this blog and maybe whumpy WIP snippets (probably more gratuitous on the whumpy front) on thewhumpstuff blog. Here is Aki history below the cut - It mentions other characters who will get their own posts later. [And as usual, I'm not working too hard to edit this stuff, just throwing it out there so it can anchor the upcoming content's drafts.]
She was born to Ehsaan Shastri and Maan Shastri. Ehsaan worked for the fuel and forest preservationist company run by G.C (Auriga) in Sector 09 and he was a bit of a misogynist, so he didn't really want Maan to be working. Maan had the qualifications to work as a journalist (Caelum). When Maan is pregnant with Aki, Ehsaan falls very very sick, and to get him treatment, Maan is co-coerced into joining a genetic enhancement study, which is how Akira-embryo ends up a specific genetic boost and that’s what gets her her ancient-lost-telepathic-empathy-powers. The study is abruptly closed down, so Maan is just stuck with this powered child.
Ehsaan was a mean drunk and had anger issues. There are multiple situations of mild physical violence against Maan, even after Aki is born. So, she decides to leave him when Aki is five. They move to Aki's maternal grandparents (Jeet and Guru Shastri - yes it was an odd coincidence that her family name on her maternal and paternal side was the same, so no name taking issues, ha and they adore her). Her mother takes a few jobs here and there, which is hard as a single parent. She meanwhile has an... interesting time at school given her powers. Aki is frustrated and distracted and can't fathom why people lie, especially because Maan harps on about being honest, especially to oneself and waters a very strong sense of conscience in Aki. Aki is transferred to an up and coming school called Anjuman, which is run by Daevy Pyxis’ biological sister Noor Kohli
Meanwhile, Maan starts working on writing journal reviews for sustainable products and designs, and gets in touch with Tariq's father - Altair Meissa, who is a set-designer and theatre performer, who makes his own furniture. And... well... they fall in love. Sector 09 is hostile and volatile. So there are periodic riots and mob violence sort of stuff particularly between the two religious group. One of Tariq’s heritage and the other of Aki’s, among others. So, Aki is forced to deal with this romeo-juliet-esque situation that her mom has gotten into, because it is an illicit affair and whether they want it or not, Altair and Maan are representatives of the conflicting groups. Tariq also is transferred to Anjuman. Tariq and Akira run into Eze often, who visits their school from Sector 09 G.C.A (given that its run by his aunt).
Things really head south when Tariq loses his older brother in one of these riots and that puts a whole bunch of strain on the Meissa family and this strain, for Maan, ends up sharply reminding her that her relationship with Altair is amoral. A guilt-stricken ‘I-am-a-homewrecker’ Maan ends up dependent on illicitly obtained prescription pills. While battling depression and suicidal tendencies. Akira is left to deal with this mess through her preteens and a bit of her teens, not knowing how to ask for help without giving up the relationship which feels far more dangerous since it’d drive a wedge through Aki’s family, will it threatens to make them social pariahs and might even be a death sentence given the conflict. Spiralling from the loss of her firstborn son, Jheel eventually gets fatally sick. Aki and T are transferred to Sector 09 G.C.A (where they study with Eze), till their family lives can be stabilized. Eventually, Aki returns to Anjuman but T doesn’t. She sees him largely on some weekends and during vacations. She watches him inch towards a sort of unabashed delinquency. She watches him hang out in Eze’s crowd and succumb to a life of ‘drugs and parties’. Aki, having dealt with her mom, tries to help him through his addiction, at least enough so he can keep his sports and academic performance up. There is a competition for a scholarship to G.C.A sector 0, which both T and Aki take part in and tie. On humanitarian grounds (because Jheel is close to death/ready to succumb) T is given the scholarship. (Aki is certain that there is also the influence of T’s buddiness with Eze. This leaves Aki feeling abandoned and betrayed when T accepts.
So, Aki decides, perhaps petulantly, that she too will find a way to attend Sector 0 G.C.U at least, (since transfer to the academy is unlikely) when she gets out of school even though it's much harder for people who do not have G.C.A backgrounds to do so. Despite her goals, she sort of struggles in H.S in a lonely emotional dip. And after the hostage situation that happens in her school and the information she finds out about it simply being a political facade she's disillusioned and upsette. She does run into and stay in touch with Jared though, who sort of helps her clear the entrance exams for G.C.U which she still yearned for, but had also sort of given up on. She loses her granddad on the day before the G.C.U exam - but still miraculously clears it. So, that's how she winds up in Sector 0 G.C.U studying 'biohacking' - which is basically medicine. She is also training as an Acer (G.C. Agent).
