“idc much about the speculative biology part of flatland” i say as i have opinions about the speculative biology of flatlanders

anyway seen some speculation that flatlanders may get their energy from photosynthesis and while i like the idea, it’s canon that specimens are “disposed of” by depriving them of food, which kills them within a month. a square also talks about his grandson asking for “sweetmeats” and while sweetmeats aren’t usually very filling or nutritious— sweetmeat is just a old-fashioned term for glazed fruit or candy, and meat and other organic life as a whole are never mentioned or even implied in the text, which is something else i have thoughts about— the inclusion of a’s grandson asking for candy does prove they have some form of traditional eating, and the inclusion of specimens starving proves that they do depend on it for actual nutrition to some degree

i do like the idea though and it’s possible that they use a combo for energy and can rely on one source for at least a while when they lack access to the other, but in canon they do seem to need and even enjoy food

that last post was definitely a brag but also— if anyone has any footage of my screen being shown at the fifth house ensemble’s undertale live concert, it would mean a lot to me if you would send it my way. idk for sure if my screen was shown at the IRL concerts, but i know it was shown in the digital concerts. i saw undertale live when it premiered in chicago, but the technical difficulties screen contest hadn’t happened at that point so i was just a fan, not someone who had contributed any art yet, and i never got to see it IRL after i was a contributor because of how strict my covid isolation was, and i no longer have and VODs of the digital concert. being part of the project was really meaningful to me, and i’d just love to still have footage of my contribution, if any footage still exists

to this day my biggest artistic accomplishment is that i contributed to an official toby fox and fangamer approved undertale project and had my name in semi-official undertale credits. anyway if you ever got the chance to see the undertale live concert after covid lockdowns had started, whether you saw it online or during one of the few in-person shows they did after restrictions started to lift, and ever saw this technical difficulties screen, i designed it!

#it ended up being animated by another artist as well but i don’t remember their name or handle #they did a great job of animating the assets I drew though it was very charming #I can’t show the credits because they have my full legal deadname #but I’ll be real seeing my name in toby fox approved undertale credits made me cry #I also messaged fangamer a while ago and they gave me their blessing to sell this as a print for my conventions which was kind of them

had to have two cardiac MRIs today, so i was in the tube for nearly three hours with some youtube playlist of show tunes droning on between breathing instructions. anyway i’m here to tell you that the only authentic way to listen to beetlejuice’s “girl scout” is to be jumpscared by it on hour two of your extremely uncomfortable test for your very own tetralogy of fallot with pulmonary atresia, listening to skye’s chirping about “tetralogy of fallot in my pulmonary artery” getting cut off by instructions on how long to hold your breath for, only for the instructions to end, allowing you to breathe again as the lyrics kick back in with “even if you're born with congenital heart disease, and you could be killed by a random sneeze.” so blessed and lucky to have had the ideal listening experience today

#I was trying so hard not to lose my shit in the tube #like it was some auto play YouTube thing and the songs being chosen were so fucking random. what were the odds #also do not recommend having that long of an mri I am so ungodly sore #at least the IV was just one poke

honestly the “chara is completely and wholeheartedly evil and bloodthirsty and responsible for all the worst endings and routes of the game” theories (and the “chara never did a thing wrong in their life and never showed any concerning tendencies” theories, to a lesser extent,) are so ridiculously antithetical to the themes of undertale that at this point i just find them funny. this is a game that constantly beats you over the head with a message of “everyone you meet is struggling and each person is capable of so much good and so much cruelty, and not everything is fixable, but you can always be a better person than you were yesterday, and that’s worth something,” where even the kindest characters do some really morally dubious things and the characters set up to be villains are all shown to be complex people who made awful choices in awful situations. like, to look at a game that takes such great pains to give depth, hopes, dreams and ambiguity to characters who have caused harm to the degree of, like, alphys and asgore, and still tell us they are people who deserve the chance to own up to their mistakes and move forward and improve themselves, and then go “yeah but the suicidal twelve year old was definitely intended to just be a remorseless evil demon” is nothing short of comedic

i called koffin-k and his goons “scooby doo-ass villains” but i really and truly do love how clearly inspired by hanna barbara koffin’s lair is. his design, harry and larry’s designs, the designs of all the one-off goons in the castle (ESPECIALLY that eyeball headed alien,) the cartoony motifs in their battles, the hallway with all the goons scrambling through doors that you have to navigate, it’s all so good. they all seem like they should be selling me cereal and I love it, the art direction and writing for these guys is so killer
