This is my first and probably last post I will ever make. I’m here to consume the content, not necessarily create it.

I see all of you fighting the good fight for Billy and his story. And I wanted to add my thoughts into the ring.

As someone who works with children and adults from abusive backgrounds EVERY SINGLE DAY. I can tell you that Billy checks every single box for being in his survival state 24/7.

I have had extensive trainings about trauma, how to recognize it and the effects it can have on a person and how they act. Personally I have endured a lot of trauma myself and had to unlearn a lot of unhealthy behaviors and ways of thinking because of it.

With that being said: someone who is in a state of survival constantly is not capable of thinking rationally, the only goal is to…survive.

Billy Hargrove was an abused child. A CHILD. Not just physically, but mentally and emotionally as well. Does this forgive his actions? No. But it explains them. Gives us a deeper insight into the “why?”

Neil hit his son, he insulted him, called him a slur and then reminded him that Max, his younger stepsister’s well-being is in his hands. That’s a lot for a 17 year old to go through. Then he goes to the Byers residence where he’s insulted and lied to. His sister (who’s well-being is in his hands) is alone with 5 boys, one of them is his age? THEN to top it all off, Steve punches him? All that built up rage from what just happened with Neil comes spilling out. Oh and to make matters worse, he gets sedated and Max MIRRORS Neil’s abuse by making him repeat himself. Keep this in mind, while all this is going on Billy has absolutely no idea what is going on. He still doesn’t know what Max is doing with all of these boys in this house.

Moving forward- Billy gets possessed by the mind flayer, he still has no idea what is going on and loses control of his own body. He had to watch as his hands take the lives of many people to feed this creature from his worst nightmares. Then this group of children lock him in a sauna, he is FINALLY able to beg for help and sobs. Even then NOBODY tells him what’s going on, no one really makes an effort to help him. It’s only in the final episode of season 3 that El breaks through to him, she see’s his past, his mom leaving, the abuse. Even standing up to the mind flayer Billy has no idea what he’s up against, he’s still in the dark. All he knows is that it’s him or this child that showed him how to come back to himself. It’s him or Max, and as we already know Max’s well-being is in his hands. Nothing is more terrifying than Neil’s wrath. And in his dying breath he apologizes.

For my fellow Billy Stans- Please never let anyone bully you about what characters you can and can’t like. Your ability to see deeper into the characters and push past the hate is needed in this world. Not just in fiction, but in the real world. If you relate to Billy as I do, from past trauma, I am so sorry. I am so very sorry that you have to fight, explain and rationalize your love for him every time. For whatever reason you stand behind Billy Hargrove, it is valid. And unlike Billy’s story, I hope that yours doesn’t end in tragedy. My inbox is always open for those who need to talk.

Now, for the Antis- I want to say, good for you. You managed to take a broken and deeply complex character and reduce him to a heartless villain in your minds. Think what you want about him, it really doesn’t matter. What does matter is how you act to the people who do relate to Billy. The name calling, the hate, the wild assumptions about real people!! It’s so insane to me. I hope that turning into the bully to make a point was worth it. How other people relate to a character doesn’t affect you in any way at all. Somehow many of you have managed to put people down and make them afraid to express their love for a character. It’s not something to be proud of.

I am not willing to argue with anyone on this, this is just my views and my opinion. Dacre Montgomery stated that he worked hard to humanize Billy Hargrove. Seeing his character be dragged through the mud and continuously be turned into the irredeemable monster by the Duffer Brothers and the fans is just really sad.

Billy Hargrove means a lot to me. For a lot of different reasons. He deserved so much more than he was given. He deserved a chance to redeem himself and to tell his side of the story. He deserved a chance to apologize for everything he did in his survival state. He deserved the chance to finally be happy and be surrounded by people who actually cared for him, who wanted to help him.

Just keep going everyone. ❤️

The least I can say is that this I as far as Billy and I got in our relationship. He respected it, and never pushed me to go further than I was comfortable with, which made me feel loved and cared for. Knowing that he wouldn't push me made me happy and he never got cranky if I wanted to stop mid-make-out session which is honestly what I think everyone deserves. Someone who wouldn't get angry if you wanted to stop. Billy and I had been going strong for the last little while, maybe to his dismay we only started getting touchy-feely around seven months of dating. We made out every now and again, usually when no one else was home or in the back of his car parked somewhere that gave us some peace from everyone else.

"Babe, where'd you go?" Billy whispered into my ear, I jumped slightly and smiled softly at him, whispering a quick apology for wandering off while we were being intimate. 

"Just thinking of us, how much I value our relationship," I whispered, he chuckled and kissed my lips before caressing my cheek.

"Well, I'm glad you do, do you want to continue?" I nodded, smiling softly and kissed his lips. Smiling against the kiss as he wrapped one arm around my waist, pulling me closer as he cupped my face with his other hand. I hummed gently as he kissed my lips, holding me with a loving hold. 

"I love you." I heard him whisper, I blushed shyly at the words, knowing he's not the type who opens up easily. I smiled happily at him, he chuckled and held me closer after I jumped at the aggressive tapping on the window. I glanced to see who it was, gulping slightly as I saw Hopper. He was like a father figure to me and so I felt like I was caught with my hand in the cookie jar as a little kid. 

"Out. NOW!" Billy gently pushed me out of the car, following me out, he kept a hand on the small of my back, and his attitude changed slightly as he looked at the man. 

"Can I help you, officer?" Billy asked with a slightly smug tone, I blushed slightly as Billy kissed my cheek, he smiled softly and I shot him a shy look that was also a little stern. 

"Hop, what's going on?" I questioned, rolling my eyes slightly as he pointed at Billy and walked him away. Billy didn't know about the upside-down, I've been trying to keep that away from him in the fear of him thinking I'm crazy. Also in fear of him being hurt. Last year I got pretty injured during the first battle of Hawkins Labs, so Hopper did the fatherly thing and put me on babysitter duty most of the time. I didn't mind looking after them all, but it sucked when he didn't fuss over Nancy or the others. Billy waited for Hopper as he walked over to me, I still felt like I had been caught doing something wrong and felt like I was about to be scolded. 

"Have you told him?" 

"No-" 

"Come with me." I walked over to Billy, smiling nervously at the boy and shifted nervously on my feet as Hopper began explaining all the stuff to Billy, he looked at me several times as if internally asking if it were real or not. I just gave a nod and whispered quietly to him. 

"I'm sorry I didn't tell you, I was scared." I apologised, he kissed my forehead and then turned to Hopper. 

"Don't worry, I can help out, I'll stick by Y/N's side, you've got nothing to worry about. And as for the other thing-" Billy turned to face me, he crouched down slightly and smiled with a cheeky grin. 

"Hey, darling, I love you. You're all that I need. I love you." He whispered, pulling me in for a hug. I'm assuming Hopper gave him the gold old 'do not hurt her' threat. This was probably just Billy's way of saying that he wouldn't or also an "I don't care what you say" I pecked his lips slightly and was taken back by the slight deepening of the kiss.

"Okay, okay, okay- break it up." Hopper pulled us apart, just like he did with Eleven and Mike. Billy winked at me slightly, his smugness coming out as he respectively tried to push Hopper's buttons.

Bestie, please tell me what is our stance on hoping that Billy will return in the final season? My clown shoes have gotten so heavy to wear 😔

I'm warily hoping for his return for multiple reasons:

(1) A lot of what I've explained about Billy's arc is still true, and still demands additional developments to make any sense. (For instance, he hasn't saved Max from anything yet, even though protecting the women in his life is a driving force for him.)

(2) He has a STRONG presence in S4, despite being dead :p That's not the case for any other character who's died. I interpret it as a "bridge" to S5; he's supposed to stay fresh in our minds.

(3) The spin the bottle moment at the end of S4 is primarily a Billy reference. And when El hears someone approaching her door, I'm pretty sure she's expecting him to walk in, not Hopper. (Which plays on the Billy/Hopper parallels of S3)

(4) Eddie, Billy's mirror character, died in a similar manner AND has plenty of evidence for his return also. I'll be genuinely surprised if their stories don't merge in the final season.

(5) Max's anthem for S4 says, "If I only could, I'd make a deal with God and get him to swap our places." Well guess who's currently braindead in a hospital bed? I.e., in the middle of swapping places with her dead brother? 🙃

(6) Now that I'm actually studying screenwriting, I feel 1000% justified in expecting the Duffers to pay off what they've set up. The setups are real, it's just a matter of execution now.

(7) Dacre Montgomery moved to LA 😆 I stg it's because the pandemic ruined their plans for S4, and Dacre was like, "Screw this, I'm moving to the US so this doesn't happen again."

So yeah. Lots of reasons! I'm just hoping the Duffers have enough storytelling space left to give a good payoff.

"N- no," Steve chokes, sobbing as Vecna wraps the vines tighter around his neck.

"Don't you want to be at rest, boy?" Vecna taunts, raising a hand to Steve's face. Barb screams in the distance and Steve goes still, tears growing cold on his face.

Yes. Yes, he should die. He should give up the fight, and just follow Barb into the abyss.

"Y- ...yes," he gasps but it comes out all wet and raspy. He's losing the fight and his vision is fading.

"Not today bitch," a familiar voice interrupts followed by the smashing of glass and an ear-piercing scream.

Suddenly Vecna is engulfed in bright orange flames. The vines drop Steve and he collapses in a crumpled heap. He coughs, feeling about his neck where the vines had made their mark. He pants and glances up, frowning at the dark combat boots, blue jeans and white wifebeater. Sapphire eyes stare him down, he almost feels like Vecna's prey again. But then the guy grins and offers a hand, tongue dancing seductively on bruised but memorable lips.

"What a sight for sore eyes Harrington," Billy fucking Hargrove quips, pulling him from the ground.

"hey, harrington," billy says with a grin on his face, taking his time as he undresses himself.

steve rolls his eyes, continuing to wash his body with his hands.

they don't talk much, steve spends most of the time trying to avoid billy, avoid the fights. there's some bickering here and there though, when billy can't keep his mouth shut. it's usually something about steve's playing ability, his hair, anything really. billy will do anything to rile steve up.

billy walks over to the shower beside steve's, completely ignoring the other spaced out showers across the room. he turns the nozzle on with his eyes still on harrington. steve opens his eyes again.

"what do you want?" steve looks at billy, clearly not understanding why the blonde chose to be this close to him with perfectly fine showers on the other side of the room.

billy slides his tongue across the bottom of his top teeth, looking at steve's lips. "you know, those shorts you were wearing fit you really well."

steve half laughed, half scoffed and goes back to washing himself, "oh yeah? you wanna borrow 'em or something?"

steve jumps at the touch and brings his hand up to billy's chest to keep his distance. "what the hell are you doing man?"

stranger things spoilers season 4 !! speculation for volume 2

okay hear me out but what if billy is alive? and he's stuck within this vecna curse because the curse of vecna has supposedly existed for years. max's letter stated that no one knew what happened to him and that he saved all of them, specifically eleven and her, so does that mean they couldn't see his body? so where's his body? his body didn't seem to absorb into another monster like bruce and those random people who were infected. because billy was "dead" before the monster. what if billy is in the same position will was in during season 1? plus, billy's first name is william. we saw max saying how she could see her and billy's relationship shifting into something before and that she really believes they could've gotten as close as real brother and sister and be close friends. plus, dacre coming to the premiere has to be more significant, especially with all the teasing he's done on social media. at least, dear billy won't be his only appearance but i think billy could come back.

I found the smoking gun.

Y'all, the Duffers played us for absolute fools 😂 Now I know why they included that Sherlock Holmes quote in the season.

Here's the Russian cell block they showed us at the end of S3. (Apologies for the shitty pics of my TV 😆)

Look carefully. How would you describe the place? Well, it's definitely underground. No windows or natural light. Dark, grimy, dingy. The doors are rusted. The Demogorgon is kept close by and routinely fed prisoners. But when one guard tries to grab this prisoner, the other says, "No. Not the American," as if he's too valuable to be monster chow.

This is where the Russians keep Hopper:

Above ground. Windows and natural light. Grey stone walls. Green doors with minimal rust. Hopper even has a window in his cell. No one really knows about the Demogorgon beyond whispered rumors. Hopper doesn't know it's here until he's sent to the arena... which, btw, shows you the Russians don't particularly mind feeding him to the Demogorgon. Hell, they don't seem to care whether he lives or dies at all. He's just a brute who can swing a hammer.

None of this is a continuity error, either. Hopper makes his way to the underground wing with a flamethrower in Vol 2.

Hopper was never THE AMERICAN.

The American is kept underground in a max security wing.

The American is too valuable to be fed to the Demogorgon, which tells us that...

...the American is useful to "the Motherland" for more than manual labor.

Steve had shown up, as if his own pool isn't empty at home right now, and he wore a white tee and his swimming trunks, which is fine, it's okay for the rich fuck to be out here, completely fine. Billy might be the king, but he doesn't own this place even if he acts like it all the time.

Couldn't that gorgeous brunette have chosen a different day? Surely he doesn't know Billy's work schedule, but really, why even come here when he has that fucking pool at his fucking mansion.

Everything was fine at first, Steve chatted with some pretty girls and Billy wasn't jealous. Steve was nice and dry and clothed and not paying Billy any mind, and Billy was not jealous.

Then Steve reminded Billy of high school, of the locker rooms, of the boys showers, when he took off his shirt and reminded Billy of how his moles are everywhere, like a constellation across pale skin.

And it only got worse once Steve got into the pool and his hair got wet, clinging to his pretty boy face. Billy didn't last long upon his throne before very calmly walking to the men's locker room and stepping into one of the showers.

Did he get even prettier, somehow? He's gained some weight, gotten harrier, but Billy didn't really think he was into all that, but with Steve? It felt… unavoidable. Inevitable.

He turns on the cold water and gasps loudly as it clashes with his warm, sun kissed skin. What the fuck is he going to do?
