“I’m fucking freezing!” Billy yells angrily as he steps into the house and stomps his snow-covered boots down onto the mat in the entryway, the front door shutting with a swing behind him, “It’s still snowing - why the hell are we going out to shovel?!”

Steve presses his lips together to suppress a smile as he turns from fixing the TV to look at his boyfriend, taking in his flushed cheeks and pink nose as Billy shrugs his coat off with a huff. “It’s to make it easier to clear once it stops,” he explains, giving Billy a small smirk, “We agreed to take turns, remember?”

“Remind me to never agree to any of your shitty ideas ever again,” Billy mumbles petulantly as he shrugs off his snow-dusted coat and toes off his boots, throwing his gloves aside where they’re left to melt snow onto the floor. He wraps his arms around himself as he stalks over to the couch with a shiver, flopping down onto it with a huff. Steve probably can’t help but think it’s cute.

“I’m this close to dumping your ass, Harrington,” Billy says into the couch, his voice muffled, and Steve chuckles with a disbelieving ‘mhm’ as he turns back to focus on the tv. Billy turns his head to look at the brunette, glowering at him but letting his eyes linger on the width of Steve’s shoulders in that yellow sweater and the taper of his waist as he bends over, before settling his gaze lower.

It’s a great view. Almost makes up for frozen limbs that are currently thawing. Almost.

Pushing himself up with a soft grunt, Billy pulls the throw blanket that’s laid on the back of the couch over his head and shivers, sniffling wetly as he stands. He wraps the blanket around himself and watches Steve step back from the TV once it comes back to life, looking proud of himself with his hands on his hips and a wide grin. Like a dork.

“Do you know how much of a dork you are?” Billy mumbles as he slowly makes his way over to the other.

“I’m not a dork — I’m a goddamn genius electrician prodigy! Look at that!” Steve motions to the TV proudly, “While you were freezing your ass off out there, I was fixing the cable connection so we can watch your favourite Christmas movie.”

“Gremlins isn’t worth shovelling for twenty minutes,” Billy sniffles again, grabbing his chuckling boyfriend from behind and pulling him close, until Steve’s back is to his chest.

“Oh, you are freezing!” Steve laughs, placing his hands over Billy’s when the blond wraps his arms around his middle. Steve’s hands immediately warm his, thawing his frozen fingers.

Billy hooks his chin over Steve’s shoulder to look at the commercial playing on the screen, smiling to himself as Steve leans back into him. It’s sweet. So, he presses his cold nose into that warm neck and Steve fucking squeals, “Billy!”

He grins and mocks his boyfriend in the same tone, “Steve!”

“Oh, you’re the fucking worst,” Steve chuckles as he worms his way out of Billy’s hold - or, tries to, but Billy doesn’t let him. He grabs tighter, holds Steve close, until they’re wrestling to the floor and grinning and laughing together.

Steve pins him down, resting all of his weight on his frozen boyfriend, and panting gently into his pierced ear, “You gonna let me warm you up now?”

“Fucking duh,” he groans softly before welcoming Steve’s lips on his.

Gremlins starts to play but Billy’s too busy appreciating his boyfriend’s hands and mouth to pay it any attention.

Maybe shovelling isn’t so bad.

Billy Hargrove gets assigned to work with Steve Harrington (known as Spooky Steve among their colleagues) on the X-Files. They'll hunt monsters, exorcise demons and put angry ghosts to rest , but Billy refuses to believe in aliens no matter how much "proof" Steve tries to show him.
