Prompt: In which your teammates say something to you and viv that takes you both by surprise

You had just finished playing a game in which Arsenal had won 3-0 against Manchester City. You had officially scored your first hat trick for the club. You had been at Arsenal for seven months now, having made friendships that you knew would last forever. You had gotten especially close with Leah Williamson, Rafaelle Souza, Katie McCabe, and the one and only, Vivianne Miedema.

You walked into the changing room last, most of the team already sitting in the room. Jonas had held you back, telling you that the media wanted a quick interview. You had obliged, but by the time you were back in the changing room, Jonas still wasn’t back. "Hey! There’s the magician!" Leah said, walking up to you and grabbing your face, pressing her forehead to yours and smiling at you wildly. "Thanks, Lee Lee,"you laughed, using the nickname you knew she hated. "I’ll let it slide this time, y/l/n," Leah said, regaining her cubby. The next person to congratulate you, was your secret situationship. You guys weren’t anything specific, just having a little fun. But you knew you wanted more. You wanted her.

Viv high fived you, giving you eyes you both thought no one else would notice. "Oh please, i can’t take it anymore! you guys are high fiving each other as though you haven’t been fucking for like, three months." Katie said.

It was needless to say that Katie’s words sent a shockwave through your body, making you choke and start coughing ridiculously. "Katie, what the hell?" Viv said, a hand on your back as you we’re still doubled over. "Oh come on! I’m saying what everyone’s thinking." Katie said, looking around the room and receiving amused nods from every player. Most of them were obviously trying not to loose it, Gio and Lotte were so red from keeping their laugh in, you thought they were going to pass out.

"Okay, you shits all have two minutes to laugh." You said, glaring at the room.

And thus how the arsenal women’s locker room got louder than it ever was. Most players were crying by the time the two minutes were up. "Are you gonna let us explain now?" Viv asked. "So you’re not denying you’ve been fucking?" Katie asked. "No" Viv said. "Yes." You answered. "Uh oh. Trouble in paradise?" Kim said. "Come on y/n… they know." Viv said, ignoring Kim and looking at you. "Fine. They know. Everyone knows. But how? We were hiding it really well!" You said. "You’re joking? Right?" Manu asked. "Welp. There were three main tellers." She then added.

Three months ago.

It was the night after your first hookup, you had both woken up in a slight panic. You barely spoke to each other, trying your best not too look at each others bodies will putting your training gear back on. You slipped on a pair of shorts and your training jersey, and then mumbled something to Viv before rushing out the door and driving to training.

"Do we say anything?" Leah whispered to Rafa, eyeing the number 11 written on the short you we’re wearing. "Uhm… I don’t know about you but I don’t want to have that conversation with them." Rafa said, Leah and Rafa’s eyes drifting in sync towards Vivianne who was passing the ball with Beth, a clearly visible number 29 on her shorts. "They’re officially hooking up." Leah said, snickering.

The captain and the brazilian had both made the mistake of telling Katie about the shorts incident, and soon enough, Katie had told everyone. But the rest of the team managed to keep in on the down low, telling Katie that if she uttered a word about it to the dutch forward and the swedish midfielder, that they would get Ruesha involved. That was enough to shut up the irish woman.

Two months ago.

The next incident was small, but said so much. Viv’s apartment had the most beautiful floor to ceiling windows in the bedroom, letting the light pour into the room every morning. On one particular sunday, when the London sky was the crispest of blues, Vivianne posted a picture of the sky through her windows, and on the bedside table, we’re three rings. It was known to anyone who had ever been around you while you weren’t in your soccer kit, that you loved rings. Your favorite three were silver, a plain thick silver band, a smaller silver band with a heart, and a zig zaggy ring. The exact three rings from the bedside table.

"They’re actually stupid." Rafa said, the entire team but you both huddled around Leah’s phone and watching the story. "They think they’re slick." Leah added.

"What’s up guys?" you said, walking into the changing room with Viv trailing behind.

Leah basically threw her phone across the room, and the whole team disspersed quickly.

"Just-uhm-" Leah stuttered, scurrying over to the far corner to grab her phone from the floor. Luckily for her, Jonas walked in and started talking about what they would be focusing on in training today.

"Saved by the Jonas." Jen whispered to Leah who had taken her seat back at her spot, glaring at the cracked screen on her phone.

A week ago

It had been a particularly rainy day at training, and you were all completely soaked. You had all showered, enjoying the warm water immensely. You were the last to walk out of the shower, a sports bra on and your shorts riding low. When you walked into the changing room, everyone subtly looked at Viv, waiting to see her reaction. "Hey Viv, can you throw me my hoodie?" You asked at the entrance. "I took the wrong one." You asked, standing in the doorway.

Viv didn’t answer, just seemingly zoned out on your stomach. "Viv!" Manu said, snapping her fingers in the forwards face. "Mhm! Shirt! Yeah!" She said, grabbing your hoodie and tossing it to you. "Thank you." You said, turning away quickly and hoping no one saw your massive blush.

They all saw the blush, and the way Viv’s eyes traced your stomach when you entered the room, and they all definitely saw her eyes on your ass as you walked out the room.

Present day:

The girls had just finished explaining all the reasons why they knew about you and Viv, all of them smiling at you both cheekily.

"I did not give you 'fuck me' eyes" Viv said, turning to you. "Oh you definitely did. You looked like you were trying not to groan every time we changed." Katie teased. "I hate all of you." Viv answered, making you smile at her. "Oh my god! Now y/n’s giving Viv 'fuck me' eyes!" Katie yelled. "I was just smiling at her you leprechaun!" You yelled, throwing your shin pad at her.

HI OKAY SO IT WAS INCREDIBLE I CANT BELIEVE I GOT TO SEE SOME OF THE THINGS I SAW TONIGHT.

1. the opening acts were GREAT like i need to listen to Royal and the Serpent and more Bring Me the Horizon the openers were REALLY REALLY GOOD

2. they played DISLOYAL ORDER OF WATER BUFFALOES AND I LITERALLY CLAPPED MY HANDS OVER MY MOUTH. STARTED CRYING. I COULD NOT BELIEVE IT WE DID IT THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO WAS MANIFESTING DISLOYAL ORDER FOR ME ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ (AND!!! AND ATAVAN HALEN. I WON TONIGHT. THANK YOU EVERYONE WHO MANIFESTED THESE FOR ME I LOVE YOUUUUUU)

3. TRAVIE. MCCOY. the medley was BEAUTIFUL and had what a catch and just one yesterday but then PATRICK STARTED PLAYING STEREO HEARTS AND EVERYONE GOT REALLY EXCITED AND CHEERED BUT THEN. TRAVIE CAME OUT ONSTAGE AND DID THE FIRST RAP VERSE OF STEREO HEARTS. WHICH THEN TRANSITIONED INTO CUPID’S CHOKEHOLD!!! AND THE REST OF FOB CAME OUT ON STAGE AND PLAYED ALONG WITH CUPID’S CHOKEHOLD AND I KNOW THIS SOUNDS MADE UP. I KNOW IT LITERALLY SOUNDS LIKE THAT “AND THEN DAN AND PHIL CAME OUT HOLDING THE GAY FLAG” POST BUT IT WAS REAL. I HARDLY BELIEVE IT MYSELF.

*AND THEN HE ANNOUNCED GCH WILL BE RETURNING IN THE FALL.*

and YOU KNOW WHAT. they were PLAYING cupid’s chokehold over the sound system between bring me the horizon’s set and fall out boy coming on and i ACTUALLY THOUGHT TO MYSELF “haha what if this is their way of teasing the fact that travie is going to perform with them tonight” as a JOKE. and then i was RIGHT.

4. patrick made the dog puppet sing along to this ain’t a scene which was CUTE AND FUNNY and pete stuck his head inside the puppet again

5. magic 8 ball was a DOUBLE tonight AGAIN and it was the live debut of i am my own muse and then 27 AGAIN. BRUTAL. when pete said “should we play something really really new that we’ve never played for anyone before?” everyone started screaming

6. THEY PLAYED??? THE FIRST VERSE AND CHORUS OF ENTER SANDMAN BY METALLICA??? INSANE. PETE WAS UP IN THE OWL SETPIECE FOR THAT WHOLE MINI-SONG. IT RULED. I WAS SCREAMING A LOT.

7. SPEAKING OF WHICH. pete did this little “magic trick” where he disappeared behind a curtain he held up on stage and then reappeared at the BACK of the stadium towards the seats where we all were! it was fun and also pretty cool!! he stayed there for a whole song too :)

8. pete had like three wardrobe changes and by that i mean he had 3-4 tops which were a giant snuggie-style oversized hoodie, which he took off at some point to reveal a t-shirt underneath? and then when he was up at the back of the stadium he was in a normal-sized hoodie and THEN at the end of the show he was wearing the iconic mesh-and-roses top. fashionista

9. the PYROTECHNICS. i’ve never been to a show with pyrotechnics but the way they were integrated at this show were SO COOL. FLAME JETS AND FIREWORKS. and of course pete’s flamethrower bass. i yelled a lot during this show and a lot of the yelling was about the flamethrower bass

10. the location was really interesting!! the weather was FANTASTIC and besides that it was a really cool little (“little”) tennis stadium that was in the suburbs of queens NY like LITERALLY tucked in between a bunch of rows of houses :> there were people playing tennis at the tennis club right next door that we could see from our seats! it just REALLY fit the vibe fob seem to have been going for the whole tour + pete talked about how his mom was from queens and his grandmother had graduated from the high school in the neighborhood (forest hills) the stadium was in 🤗 ALSO there was this on one of the pillars which i think illustrates how very fitting to the whole vibe of the album/tour/fall out boy in general the place was:

11. even the parts of the set that were more “standard” like the pink seashell opening the concert and love from the other side and the big classics like sugar we’re going down and thnks fr th mmrs and saturday (SATURDAY. TO END THE SHOW) were just. so incredible. i’ve never been able to see fall out boy live before so it was just such an incredible privilege especially since @movingdayy was so kind as to invite me and erie and gifted me a ticket so that i would be able to see the tour even though i thought all year that i wouldn’t be able to :’) the sets were super incredible and the band interacted with all the setpieces a lot too which made it really unique

12. i handed out a LOT of bracelets and i STILL have a crazy amount. mutuals if you want a fababoi bracelet and are willing to give me your address i will mail you one ❤️

so YEAH that’s my quick overview of the concert it was just insane, incredible, life-changing, etc etc etc etc 🧡 i probably forgot some stuff that i will inevitably kick myself for but those were like. THEE standout moments. i sang along to every song they played and my throat hurts and it’s 2 am and erie and i just swapped drivers for the rest of the way home so i MAY be missing some important things due to being overtired 👍

EDIT: FUCK I CANT BELIEVE I FORGOT. ROB FROM MIDTOWN WAS APPARENTLY IN THE FLOOR SEATS AND PETE SPOTTED HIM WHEN HE WAS COMING BACK TO THE STAGE FROM THE BACK OF THE STADIUM AND WAS TALKING ABOUT HOW HE WISHED ROB COULD COME UP ON STAGE AND THEY COULD PLAY SOME MIDTOWN SONGS. and THEN patrick joked about how he “doesn’t even remember the words to their own songs” (<- paraphrasing) and pete went “not this time…maybe another :)”. jersey shows coming up I Am So Scared

I don’t know what it is, but there’s something strange about being away from Orion for this long. It’s almost been a month, and we still talk almost every day. I know I can’t expect for things to feel all that normal. I left her alone in LA. She has a life there. I’m busy, touring with the band.

I think days like today are when I feel it the most. We’re in a random ass city in New England. We have a show tonight, but today we aren’t doing press, and there’s not exactly a lot to do in Connecticut. It’s just another day with the boys, whom I love dearly, but don’t exactly have a lot of fresh topics to talk to them about. 

At least it felt okay to sleep in this morning. A lot of days it feels like a waste of being in a cool city or a waste of being close to family to sleep in, but in Uncasville, Connecticut, sleeping until 11 feels like an appropriate start to the day. 

I wake up to a few texts from Orion, which is unsurprising but always good to see.

I’m not sure how long it’s been that Orion and I are just sitting here texting each other back and forth until Ashton is giggling across the room at me.

“What are you making all those faces for, Cal?” He asks.

I flip him off. “Just texting Orion.”

“Oooh, what are you guys talking about?” Luke walks in the room, a banana in hand and Sierra trailing behind him carrying a Starbucks cup. 

I roll my eyes. “Not that it’s any of your business, but I was just telling her she should make her Instagram public, and she thinks it’d just open up a door for death threats.”

“The fans like her now, don’t they?” Luke asks. He plops down on the couch next to me, and Sierra sits on his right side. He looks around the room at all of us, searching for confirmation.

“She always gets love when I post a picture with her in it,” Ashton confirms. 

It’s no secret that I’m not exactly an active user on any social media, so even though I have millions of photos of me and Orion, I don’t share them much. That’s both due to my personal social media habits and Orion’s wishes to keep her presence on my social media to a minimum. It’s kind of like her rule for flowers — only for special occasions. 

Ashton, on the other hand, posts a few photos at a time to his story and feed pretty regularly, and more often than not, if there’s a group picture, Orion is in it. He’s also the only one that really hangs out with Orion on her own regularly, so naturally they have more photos of the two of them. That said, if she’s only getting positive comments on Ashton’s posts, I’m sure she’d get positive reactions if she shared her own.

“I’m not saying she should or shouldn’t,” Sierra starts. “But I definitely get why she doesn’t want a public profile.”

“I mean, to be fair, a lot of what she posts is of you guys,” Luke adds. He’s not wrong. Because her profile is private and she can pick and choose who follows her, she feels fine to post whatever she wants, and that means posting a lot of pictures with me, of me, and of Duke. “She definitely wouldn’t want to do that if she went public.”

I sigh, knowing that Sierra and Luke are probably right, and Orion is too, even if she’s not completely accurate with what would actually happen if she made her profile public. I decide to drop it. 

“Where’s that Starbucks at?” I decide to ask, changing the subject. I nod at Sierra’s coffee cup in her hand. 

With the address in hand, I head off to find someone to drive me to the Starbucks and go back to texting Orion.

Hey bitch. Happy birthday

First time it’s just a letter, second it’s a pattern, how long until it counts as tradition?

Maybe it’s weird but I started to write this letter on December 13th, 2022. 179 days until your birthday but I felt the need to start writing this, felt the need to put my sentiments into words.

Yesterday I sent you 18 audios, several minutes each of course, explaining you in deep detail the plot of the first Avatar movie. I watched it alone after my mom went to sleep and to be frank Im kind of glad she did or else she’ll catch me crying over the scenery of a planet that doesn’t exist, from a movie that I’m pretty sure doesn’t pass the Belchdel test (update: it does not, everything is about Jake Sully and his terrible habits). It’s sitting in the bathroom floor all alone, waiting for people to stop screaming at each other that makes me realize how much I needed you in my life, how much I need, and will need someone who understands and compliments (as in complementary) me as well as you do. I like Avatar because I’m insane, but also because I see someone so lost and so insane in their own world they have to go literally to another planet to find a home, because somehow they do and I think, fuck maybe I could to. Looking back at it, the fact Jakes best friend is a short haired ginger scientist (healthcare science is a science right?) might make it even more close to home. (I hope in the end of this story, I don’t turn blue and you die and come back reincarnated as my daughter, but if you do it’d be hilarious and pretty on brand for us).

Everytime I remember you exist I am no longer alone. One time we were talking about the saints (this phrase in itself explains our relationship better than any other thing I can say here) and we said: I’d pick your saint if you pick mine. I remember the first time I wrote it, I looked at the screen, I looked at me and I looked at you (the only way I can, deep inside my mind) and I realize that with no other person this sentiment would make sense, no other person could I send a message at 22h explaining the in-depth history of Brazilian reality shows and make it so that I’m not insane or annoying or terrible, no other person would I search the deep webs of Wikipedia to find out what Saint was killed on June 10 (ps. It’s Saint Olivia, that’s my sisters name).

Saint Emma is the keeper of pharmacy, Saint Luisa the keeper of grief, somewhere along the lines God made it so we can meet and this would make a little bit too much sense.

I want to thank you for always holding my hand, even if have never touched, even if we never do. Times passed, I forget to write and now your birthday is in 4 days and now it is in 2 days and I find myself plagued by a loneliness only you can fill (I think this is the gayest sentence I’ve ever wrote and that’s saying something). Right now I look at the sun and it’s 4pm here so it means that in the other side of the world it’s 3pm and you are looking at the same sun, as the sunlight burns the right side of my face I can’t help but wonder if right now, in the other side of the hemisphere, it burns the left side of your face, that in the sunlight our faces meet and become one (again, really going for the gayness vibe rn).

The only future I am content with is the one I have you by my side, it’s the one I can call you to spend christmas with my family be it next to a British young star celebrity or not (but like if god wants him to spend several christmases with me then like I can’t say no right that’s on God not me right anyways I’m getting of track-) In the good ending it’s Christmas afternoon and I’m sitting by the pool showing you how to open an earl fruit or a persimmon while my siblings play with the speaker. In the good ending we’re in a club in New Jersey and I have no idea how to order a drink, in the good ending, when the movie is about to be done I grab your hand and say “hey.”

My mom, seeing me tearing up while reading my book: Are you... crying from Aurélie Laflamme?

Me, in my head: See, this series may look childish or over-dramatized at first, aimed at an audience of preteen girls who look up to teens with stories of high school drama and crushes, but it actually tackles much deeper themes than it seems. At its core, it’s the story of a teenage girl heavily coded to have ADHD, who is struggling to deal with major changes happening in her life when her mom — who was depressed for the majority of Aurélie’s childhood after her dad passed away, and because of that, wasn’t present when her daughter needed her — starts healing when she gets with her new partner who moves in with them, at the same time she has to transfer to another school after the all-girls private school she had enrolled in to escape bullying closes. By the way, she never actually hated her mom’s partner— the real reason she threw fits and acted as if she couldn’t stand his presence, as if he was the devil, etc., was not because she had a problem with him as a person, but because she was upset by the change, and had a hard time expressing that she wished it didn’t take her mom a very long time and a new relationship to get better. And when we’re teenagers, well, we’re very emotional and immature and can scream at our parents over seemingly minor bullshit because we hide the real reason. The way it’s portrayed accurately, with the ‘cringey’ tone of a teenage’s diary perfectly conveyed, while being well-written, not *actually* cringey to read (!) in my opinion, and incredibly genuine, with a perfect balance between comedic and emotional scenes gets to me. It’s one of the most earnest teenage-girl’s-diary-format middle grade book series i’ve ever got to read. It’s about friendships and crushes in secondary school in early 2000s’ Montréal, certainly, but it’s also about family, mourning, finding your place in the world, processing your emotions and that is why I am crying in the club rn (Also, Aurélie canonically listens to My Chemical Romance.)
