What do you think of a bender/non bender swap for Azula and Sokka?(Sokkla of course). I mean Azula would be a non bender and Sokka would be a firebender.

That has the potential for a very interesting fic. I like it. It'll be interesting to see a non-bender Azula. Never thought of that before.

6. do you prefer writing shorter, standalone fics or longer, multi-chapter stories?

i've done a decent amount of both, and i enjoy both for different reasons. usually writing shorter standalones are easier to finish for me just because of the length, but i really do love writing multichapter stuff as well! i just have a terrible habit of not finishing multichapters so the stuff i do publish is usually something i'm convinced i will be able to finish

12. are there any cliches or tropes you actively avoid in your fics?

off the top of my head there isn't anything major that i try and avoid, maybe cheating? i'm not a fan of that. i do also hate writing characters who are just pure evil/bad for no reason. i try and write all my characters to be dynamic and multifaceted, so even if they did something wrong in the past there's at least a REASON for it

13. what's the most challenging aspect of writing fanfiction for you?

finishing it.

okay, kidding. sort of. i do struggle with finishing stuff a lot of the times because i'm a very busy person with adhd which is not a super great combo for writing. but if there's like an actual part of the 'writing' that i struggle with, i feel like it's action scenes. i'm a dialogue and scenery lover, so writing fast-paced action scenes can be a challenge for me

26. how do you approach plot twists or surprises in your fics?

okay i LOVE adding twists and surprises haha. most of the time they're planned out ahead of time and i'll lay out little hints throughout the story about the twist. i think the best twists are the ones that take you by surprise in the moment, but looking back you're able to fit the pieces together. like just little side comments or mentions of something that seems unimportant, but after the twist you can be like THATS WHAT THAT WAS ABOUT. i feel so smart laying down my plot twists lol

31. do you prefer writing from a single character's perspective or switching between different viewpoints?

depends on the story, i suppose. if the story is focused especially around one character, then i'll leave it single pov. but when i'm able to i enjoy writing from multiple perspectives. it can be a fun break from a character, and can give more insight to things because of that character's experiences and stuff! i think a lot of my multichapter fics tend to be multiple pov

💥find your least kudos'd fic - say something wonderful about it.

So technically my least kudos'd fic is Kiss Me, which is a Kantoph doodle for Year of the OTP lol. But since it's only 200 words, I'll pick my next least kudos'd fic(s).

Clocking in at 4 kudos are A Man's Best Friend and Here for You. Both are Kantoph fics that I wrote for Year of the OTP! I like Man's Best Friend because it's a modern AU, and I think it's funny to see Kanto interact with Toph's guide dog while she's away for the weekend. But, there's some sweet moments in there, and I think it captures some fun, fluffy moments between Toph and Kanto. For Here for You, it's another modern AU, but this is just showing Kanto being a sweetheart while Toph is struggling with something and just doesn't feel like talking about it right now. While they're not together yet, Kanto puts her needs over his and, as the title suggests, he's there for her haha! I just love showing Kanto being supportive for Toph, being someone that she can let her guard down around and if she needs a hug or to cry, she can do that around him without judgment.

🦋what are you most insecure about when you post a fic?

I think when I posted my first fic, I was nervous about posting it correctly? I worried about the grammar and whether I posted at the right time, that sort of stuff.

Now, I don't think I get very insecure when I post a fic, perhaps just this naive hope that they'll do relatively well? I write mostly for Kantoph now, and there aren't many active Kantoph shippers that solely ship Kantoph or ship them the way that I do (very canon divergent and fluffy and filled with happily ever afters haha). There's always this hope that "maybe this one a lot of people will somehow read and really enjoy it!", but I've learned to separate that feeling from writing/posting my stories. I write for the challenge to be creative, to tell stories that live rent free in my head, and for my friends/moots.

🤍what's one fic of yours you think people didn't "get"?

Hmmm. Probably Where Am I At, which is a Taang story I did for Taangst Week 2021. Really, the theme of this was how the family members of Toph and Aang's family deal with loss, but I think the Modern AU setting and the fact that I made Toph not blind probably threw things off. I do think the bones of the story is okay, but I based this off an original idea and thought I could place Toph and Aang as the main characters, when in reality, I really shouldn't have. I'm not one to delete fics, so it's still up, but I don't think it'll ever rise in the ranks as a fabulous Taang fic haha!

Alright, this needs to stop.

As I mentioned over here, someone is stirring up drama between Zuko/Zutara and Azula blogs by harassing people in their inboxes. At least this time they have (mostly) used their own words instead of directly copying posts from other blogs. Or used a chatbot because boy, howdy, do these messages make no sense, even when they aren't directly copied from other blogs. The eye contact one is a post copied from another tumblr blog, and doesn't even make sense to plop into my inbox because there isn't even an argument presented.

You can see though that this blog has no content, but their followers list is full of Zutara/Zuko and Azula blogs, probably for the purpose of stealing posts to cause drama with. I would suggest everyone on the follow list block and report them immediately, and do this every time you get a message from a blog that looks like this.

Hi @waterfire1848 !!!

You know I just realized something, but Azula (partially) gets the Yoda treatment in your fic “it’s a blessing and a curse”. I means she’s the smallest of the dragons, nor is she the strongest, but Azula is probably the fastest and the most powerful Fire bender of the bunch (sorry Ozai but you know it’s true).

I also have a question, say Katara marries Azula when the curse is still active, would she become some sort of water, ice, and/or frost dragon? Same thing with Sokka and Zuko?

Hey @745voiceofthepeople!! It's been a minute! How are you?

Azula isn't the strongest firebender YET but she will become the strongest. She's already the fastest though because she's smaller and slender, especially when she's younger she's a very fast little dragon.

I don't want to give too many spoilers but yes. I do plan on having Katara and Sokka became dragons alongside Azula and Zuko. The final (two?) chapters will be kind of a leap into the future where we get to see the two ships get married, have kids and will also see Katara and Sokka adjusting to being part dragon now. That being said, I don't know what kind of dragons they'll be. Now that you say water, ice/frost I kind of want to give them an ability aside from firebreathing, both to show off their WT roots and to show that the curse can adapt.
