Happy WBW! 🗺 - How many countries are in your world? Feel free to share as much/little about them as you wish!

So "Country" is a bit complicated. There are relatively few "countries" in the modern sense, however if we take country to mean land, or cultural/lingual/ or political groups there is somewhere around 229 "countries."

For example, Kishetal is a land, its people are Kishite and speak the Kishic language, however it is composed of many smaller city-states, so in actuality Kishetal would be dozens of tiny countries, but I am counting it as a single cultural entity, "Kishetal". Think of it the same way that you would think of Greece in the Classical Era. There was no single state called "Greece" yet the Greeks/Hellas were still an identifiable group and region.

I enjoyed the first episode of Season 4 of Walker, it's no peak SPN but it's grown into itself. I'm not an avid watcher but it's easy TV and I enjoyed it more than I thought I would.

So my question is, what number of viewers need to be on live and +7 for it to stay on air and with what demographic?

The live figures and demographic seemed to be falling, but that is the same for all CW shows.

Are you still expecting an announcement of an extended series announcement?

FYI, there is a picture of Jensen in Vancouver having dinner with some of the cast of Watcher, so the rumour is yet another guest star gig is on the cards...

With over 50% of total (legal) TV viewers in U.S are now online and catch-up services, Live TV viewers are only a small chunk of what advertisers use. Live TV viewings do matter, but the networks also look at how a show does in DVR (up to 35 days post-airing usually) and on streaming. Part of the reason why CW created the CW app was so they could get better user data, and optimize their content based on that (similar to the OG Netflix model), so it would make sense if they put less weight on Live TV viewership, as the OG CW had already done. If one person watches twice on CW app then they would be counted as two content starts. And if one person watched the full 40 min duration twice then they would have contributed 80 minutes of viewing to the show. But if you want to a reach of unique non-duplicated viewers for a certain show, they’d be counted once. There are a lot of different metrics but multiple viewings factor into plenty of them. Same for actual true for linear tv - if you watch something on a dvr more than once they are all counted. It’d be cool if these streaming numbers were released, but unfortunately that’s a much less transparent process than Live TV, so non-industry people still base their ratings knowledge off of that.

The Nielsen ratings are still used and still matters and it helps that there’s industry transparency. Linear tv still sells mostly on C3 (commercial viewing live + 3 days). But networks will track digital viewing within the US. There's a lot of metrics to measure “success” on digital platforms beyond viewership - how many new subscribers it brought in, if they stayed to watch other things, how long they spend on the platform, etc

Of course CW app doesn't have subscribers but downloads. On Valentines Day CW app officially crossed 100 million downloads across all platforms and was #1 in the Apple App Store for 3 consecutive years during fall premieres.

The rule of thumb is if an app has 10 million downloads, on average 30% of downloads are active. So CW app has 100 million downloads, 30% are active, and a total of 30 million active users. With ads, it's easy money for the network.

For context.

Peacock = 31 million subscribers

Paramount = 37 million subscribers

Max = 98 million subscribers

Disney = 111 million subscribers

Netflix = 260 million subscribers

Of the Big 5's subscribers, we don't know the percentage of active watchers. But streaming services actually prefer that you don't watch because that costs bandwidth. Just like gyms make their money from memberships where most members don't go to the gym regularly.

At this point no, I don't expect series extension announcement. The whole industry is going, as they say in business downsizing, restructuring.

I said in another post, never say never to the idea of Jensen scoring a guest star gig on Tracker.

AU where Syverson becomes a dog trainer

I don’t own Captain Syverson or Sandcastle but I do own these words and I do not give any permission to copy or repost them. I would absolutely love it if you liked or commented or reblogged. Stuff of life right there.

Written in a mid-week wine haze and completely un-beta’d. So I own the mistakes, too, is what I’m saying. But you can be me for a while if you want.

Sometimes when I'm walking my crazy-ass rescue pit in the woods, I imagine coming across dog trainer!Sy and Aika.

Aika is off-leash, which of course she is; Sy trusts her recall unconditionally.

When he hears my panicked calls for Ginger to return and stop straining against the lead, Sy immediately clasps a leash on the heavy D-ring of the neon green collar around the German Shepherd's neck.

He stands patient and calm about 10 yards away while I spew profuse apologies in his direction and gentle curses at my dog.

"She's a rescue. I'm so sorry. She really doesn't like other dogs. Ginger, sit!"

"She's a spitfire for sure, but she wants to say hi. She just needs to learn some manners."

When I tell him I've been watching training videos on Instagram, he can barely contain the smirk that forms beneath his rugged beard as he drops his head to the side and gives a slow shake.

He takes note once I finally have G under some semblance of control and asks if I've tried an in-person trainer yet.

I tell him I hadn't yet; that I'd adopted a rescue before who had a much easier disposition and I hadn't thought I would have so much trouble with a second one; that it'd only been a month and I was honestly regretting the decision to adopt again.

He pulls a small white card out of the pocket of his tan camo cargo pants and lets me know he's gonna just drop it on this tree stump here and back away with Aika in the opposite direction.

He tells me his name and says maybe the girls can meet again someday and I notice his biceps flex in his maybe just too small tee as he tugs Aika’s leash.

When he goes, I wipe the sweat of frustration off my face and pick up the card from the stump.

I see the nickname he failed to mention underneath the name K9 Tactics and see he's a certified trainer and I just want to die from embarrassment because this guy with the close shaved head and beefy thighs apparent in his pants is hot as all fuck and there is no way in hell I would ever summon enough courage to put my shortcomings on further display in front of him for any length of time ever again.

But I hear him holler back "Don't overthink it. First session's free. She’s got promise!"

And, like, imagine my surprise when he admits day one while we're walking G down the path near my apartment that I'm technically his first client since he made the choice to start this side gig after retiring from the Special Forces.

He's managed to calm her down after their frenetic meeting and hooked her up to the most convoluted convertible leash I'd ever seen.

We were stopping every so often while he waited for her to step back from her pulling before we moved forward and he praised her with a happy Yes every time she did.

I had a hard time concentrating on everything Sy said while I tried to wish the ache of those yesses away, but I did catch that he was finishing up a few business courses before stepping into an executive position at a new protection company forming in the area.

By the time Ginger was able to heel without hesitation, Sy had already asked me out on two dates and kissed me so passionately at the end of the second after walking me to my door that I was left reeling when he stepped back and I could not fathom for the life of me how I let him go home that night.

We waited until the girls met, G circling in and out trying so hard to approach Aika calmly and say hello, before we ended the night in bed together.

It was messy and hesitant and a little uncomfortable until we both laughed and admitted we were just thinking it might be better to kennel the girls in separate rooms for the night so they don't trip out that the bedroom door is closed for the first time in forever and destroy the living room while Sy was destroying me.

He pounced immediately upon entering the room after securing G and Aika, tossing me to the bed and diving right between the sprawl of my legs.

I practically melted into mush when he raised his eyes to me and mouthed a silent "okay?" and it didn’t take long after he latched his lips around my cunt and dug his tongue deep and pressed it into my clit with such fervor for me to come crying out his name.

Through my blissful haze, I caught him swipe a paw across his beard before he crawled up over me and dipped his head to catch my lip between his teeth before sucking a kiss and tipping his tongue into my mouth.

“Was that okay?”

Wake Up Call

A/N: I couldn’t get dog trainer!Sy out of my head, so I moved you in with him and got straight to the sex. Ginger still has some behavior issues.

You shut the door hard and sink to the floor as soon as you wrangle Ginger inside the house. Aika pads in from her spot in the living room and gives a quick hello sniff to G then turns her attention to you.

Her gentle nudges and G’s face licks and wiggly butt can't stem the hot tears of frustration beginning to stream down your face as you replay the scene over and over.

"That dog needs to be put down," the old lady hissed as she passed you on the path.

She'd stared straight at Ginger as you were trying to put her in place, but you couldn't collect your dog's attention before the woman made direct eye contact with her. Ginger went a little nuts, but you held fast to her lead, trying to back away slowly with a firm pull, no tugging or yanking. Just like Sy taught you.

"Sugar, back so soon?" Sy calls from the kitchen. "Dinner's almost ... baby, what happened?"

Sy drops to his knees on the ground next to you, touching your shoulder gently. You know what he's looking for as you feel his eyes sweep over you, even with your head hanging low.

"I'm fine. Nothing's broken," you sniff. "Just some mean old lady on the path."

"Someone say sumthin'?"

"She said I need to put Ginger down just 'cuz she growled at her. Didn't even lunge, Sy. I was so proud of her for a hot second but I didn't grab her attention fast enough and then the lady.."

"Fuck. That's Betty. She's a real piece a work. Dontchu listen to a thing she says. Woman's got a real hard-on for anything bigger’n a teacup." Sy unhooks G from her lead and gives her a good pat. "She don't even like Aika. Can you believe that?"

Sy sends Aika off and turns to sit next to you, wrapping his arm around your shoulder and drawing you close.

"Come on, don't even spend another thought on it. You're doing great with Ginger. And there's probably gonna be some bad days. Happens to the best of 'em."

"Not Aika," you sniff again. "She's the perfect dog. Never goes nuts in public..."

Sy interrupts your self-pity party. "Baby, no need to compare. Ginger is her own dog. And she's got a different history you're trying to overcome."

"But.."

"No buts. 'Cept maybe this one," he smirks as he slides his hand down your back and under your seat, giving it a soft squeeze. "Now come on. We got one night before your trip and I made your favorite meal. Lemme wine and dine you outta this funk."

You lean closer to him, if that's even possible, amazed at the way this gruff, scruffy man can say the softest things to ease your troubled mind. He never makes you feel a fool for the way you handle your shit, especially with Ginger. He just waits for you to ask for help unless he sees a danger, and even then he's so respectful as he passes on advice. He never tells you what to do.

"I need a shower. Do I have time?"

"Can you make it a quick one? I think the timer's gonna go off in about 10."

You nod and let him help you up, relaxing into the bear hug he pulls you into. He kisses the top of your head, then gives your ass another squeeze and a pat.

"Now git. And put on something comfy," he smiles as you head down the hall.

You’re dressed and at the table in 15, foregoing a hair wash in favor of picking out something a little less comfortable. It is your last night with Sy for a bit, after all. The quick, steamy shower helped release the last bit of tension left after Sy calmed you down, and now you really want to make the most of the evening.

“Woman, did you just want to skip dinner altogether?” Sy exclaims, as you set yourself down at the table, meal already served on the plate in your space.

“What? Does this not meet the dress code for this restaurant?” you smirk back at him, smoothing your hands over the lacy camisole set you picked out. “You certainly seem a little overdressed.”

Sy scoots out his chair, stands, and tosses his napkin on the table. “That’s it. I’m sure glad to see you’re feeling good already. Let’s see how much better I can make it.”

Sam's Last Straw

A/N: This was supposed to be a ficlet or just a little something about what I would write if I actually wrote something, but instead, I actually wrote something! Prompt provided by @wingedcatninja.

Prompt: Dean x Reader, hurt/comfort

Summary: Dean and the Reader are BOTH hurt on a hunt and Sam has to take care of them. They get... needy.

Pairing: Dean x Reader

Warnings: Nothing. It's just so freaking fluffy.

Word count: 2322 words

After much squabbling (Dean was hurt worse, but you kind of had to pee), Sam carried you to the bathroom, then helped Dean get settled in his room, then carried you from the bathroom to your bedroom. He left you with an apology and a set of guilty puppy eyes, then raced off to find supplies.

You got changed into comfy clothes all by yourself, thank…Pete, maybe? Can’t thank God anymore, so might as well thank a random dude named Pete. It was about as effective. Anyway, a severely sprained ankle and bruised/possibly cracked ribs made things difficult, but not impossible. Mostly. You’d gotten off easy. Dean had broken his leg. Luckily, it was just a hairline fracture that would heal in a few weeks, but he was non-weight-bearing for a while. As were you. And the little clinic you’d visited for the x-rays was all out of crutches. Hence Sam running around like a one-armed paperhanger to help you both.

Sam appeared in your doorway, slightly out of breath and still with the guilty puppy eyes. “I could have sworn we had two sets of crutches in the infirmary, but I can only find one. There’s not even a cane or a walker or anything, so I went online and ordered us a bunch. They’ll be at the post office in a couple of days. Until then, I’ll keep helping you two and you can share the one pair, right?”

“Sam,” you replied with a sigh, “With the ribs, I can barely sit up straight without pain, so I think hanging out in bed is going to suit me just fine. Let Dean keep the crutches and I’ll just use my desk chair or something if I really need to get around.” You shrugged as your mind started to put together a makeshift walker with your chair and a towel or something so it would slide on the bunker’s cement floors.

“Although that sounds like a neat idea, I insist on you just relaxing, okay? Stay in bed, and just call me if you need anything. It’s my fault you’re hurt, anyway. I will bring you food and whatever you want until the crutches and stuff get here. Okay?”

Gosh, he looked so sad and guilty. “Sam, it’s not your fault I got hurt! The plan went sideways, that’s all! The plan always goes sideways, and it’s no biggie! You don’t have to wait on me hand and foot as an apology because there’s no apology necessary.”

“I insist!” he argued. “Really, I want to!”

You rolled your eyes and sighed. “Fine. Whatever you want. But honestly, just bring me some food every so often and I’ll be okay, okay?”

“Okay.” Sam grinned.

“But Sam—”

“Yeah?”

“Could you go to Walmart and pick up some things?” You pulled out your phone and texted him a short list. Back scratcher or something for under-cast itches, a couple of different pies, those little frozen mini pizzas Dean loved, and slide-on slippers to wear until he could get his boots on, again. “I don’t really need anything, but Dean’s gonna need some things with that cast he’s got.”

“Just for Dean?” Sam bit his lips to stop from smirking and you rolled your eyes.

“It doesn’t mean anything, Sam! In fact, don’t even tell him it was my idea.” You crossed your arms over your chest and dared him to argue with you, hiding the fear that Sam would spill the beans about your crush. Your face heated without your permission, though, giving you away.

“Yeah, yeah, doesn’t mean a thing,” Sam teased as he shut the door behind him.

Across the hall, a similar scene played out with Dean.

“Hey, Dean, I’m heading to Walmart to pick up some things. Want anything?”

Dean shifted and picked up his phone. “Yeah. Well, I don’t really need anything, but I bet Y/N does. She’s going to want to soak in the bathtub with some Epsom salts for those ribs, and she’ll want some arnica for bruising, which we’re all out of. And get her some cute fuzzy slippers to wear until she can fit her shoes on, again, or her feet will get cold on the cement floors.” Dean tapped away on his phone. “Here, I’m texting you a list.”

“Slippers?” Sam teased. “And nothing for you, huh?”

Dean looked up from his phone and glared at his brother. “I know you think it means something but it doesn’t mean anything! In fact, don’t even tell her it was my idea! Take the credit for yourself and earn her forgiveness since she got hurt saving your ass,” Dean groused.

A grimace replaced Sam’s grin. He really did feel bad about you having been where he was supposed to be and you then getting hurt. “She’s already forgiven me, and I’ve already promised to take care of her until she’s mobile again to make up for her getting hurt. I don’t need to take credit for your ideas. Why don’t you keep your credit and just tell her how you feel?”

“There are no feelings, Sam, so just take the list, get the stuff, and do whatever you need to do to help her feel better. Maybe you could watch rom coms and braid each other’s hair?”

Sam bit his lips for the second time that hour to keep a smirk from forming. “Alright, man. Whatever you say. I’m off to Walmart.”
