Turkish Pide 🇹🇷🥰 This is a traditional Turkish style pizza made on flatbread. This bread is leavened though with dried yeast . It is rolled out thinly and has loads of different varieties of delicious toppings. The base is crisp and the sides are soft . It’s shaped like a boat and keeps all of the toppings snuggly inside . Enjoy 😊 Ingredients For the dough: This makes six 300 gr/ 10½ oz. / + 2 tbsp. all-purpose plain flour 5ml/1 tsp. salt 14 gr/4 tsp. dried yeast (2 packs of 7gr dried yeast) 8 fl. oz. /1 cup warm water 45ml/3 tbsp. olive oil For the toppings Grated melting cheese Mushrooms sliced Salt Preheat the oven to 180 C/ 350 F Put the dried yeast in a small bowl and pour in half of the water and leave for five minutes to get frothy. Combine the flour and salt in a large bowl. Make a well in the middle and pour in 2 tbsp. olive oil and the yeast mixture. Pour in the remaining ½ warm water to the flour mixture. Using your hands, draw in the flour from the sides and work the mixture into a dough. Knead for 3 -5 minutes, until you reach a soft, smooth dough. The dough gets sticky as you knead, so pour the remaining 1 tbsp. olive oil and stir in additional 2 tbsp. flour to help shape into a soft dough. Place the dough in large bowl and cover with a cling film. Leave it in a warm place for 1 hour; it will be doubled in size. Based on a recipe from Ozlem’s Turkish kitchen . Next divide into six balls as shown and roll out each one into a rectangular shape which is rounded at the top. Then place your grated cheese topping on as shown in the photo and then the video proceed to shape your boats !! Bake in the oven for 12-15 minutes or untill golden brown . I tackled a big task at work I’ve been putting off for months and it took all damned day, but now it’s done! Feels so GOOD!
While I was surfing that productivity wave I finally ordered an external hard drive, so I can store and keep organized all the material for at least one (if not both) of my side jobs.
Of course, I’m all riled up and stressed, but I’m working on relaxing. Listening to Lana Del Ray, drinking a little red wine, and I got some 420 oil in my pasta+roasted veg dinner (veganveganvegan).

Tomorrow morning starts with the first call with a new client. Fingers crossed--we’re still feeling each other out and we haven’t signed any contracts or anything. I have several things I need to go over and figure out before our call. Plus, he’s got an impressive career behind him and he’s looking to do some major things next. I’m a little intimidated. But I know he needs the kind of help I can give, and my current client recommended me to him, which means she believes in my abilities. 
I keep reminding myself I’m more talented and capable than I give myself credit for.
And last time one of these opportunities came up, I wasn’t at all sure I could do it, but I said YES and I’ve grown and learned and it’s been the BEST opportunity. It actually changed my whole life--in ways I won’t know for years, I bet.
Also, my small press got an info request today, so now I have to write it all down and make it look pretty! And look into Submittable. That’s this weekend: inquiry form, figuring out the nitty-gritty of the limited-edition runs (size, shape, materials...), and researching local printers for the normal runs. And the website to build. I definitely bit off more than I could chew with this, but I’m immensely proud of myself for doing this. I am in love with my little press baby, even though it’s barely alive.
Bonus points that this business is a great way to support several of my favorite art hobbies. It’s slow starting, but it’s a great push to keep studying and producing.

A true Vegan delight !!! Green lentil and potato soup served with freshly made pita or flatbread – Turkish yeşil mercimek yemek 500 grams of dried green lentils 20 mls of olive oil 1-2 tablespoons of tomato purée or Salça 1 onion chopped 2 medium potatoes chopped into cubes 2-3 cloves of garlic sliced 1.5-2 litres of water Salt Sauté the onion in the olive oil untill translucent . Add tomato purée and cook for 2 minutes. Add the rest of the ingredients, I like the taste of the garlic when it’s added later but you can also saute it if you prefer. Bring to the boil and then simmer untill cooked , around 25 minutes. Ingredients for the pitta 3 cups of all purpose flour 1 cup of water 1 teaspoon of baking powder Salt Method First of all prepare the dough mix for the bread by adding the dry ingredients together in a bowl and mixing. Add the water and bring together with a fork and then mould with your hands but very gently. If it doesn’t come together add a little more water. Set aside and cover. Roll out the pittas to about ½ to 1 cm thick depending on your preference and place into a hot dry frying pan and cook for a couple of minutes on each side. It will bubble up as shown in photo and that’s the time to turn.
